We are so thrilled to be seeing the Disney Treasure, Disney Cruise Line‘s newest ship before it sets sail for Port Canaveral, Florida for its maiden voyage! ©Disney There’s so much to explore on this new ship! The new dining options are exciting on their own, the stunning lobby and decorations on board are beautiful to see, and of course, the new entertainment we’re beyond thrilled to see. We just got a sneak peek at the new Moana stage show and had to immediately tell you all about it! This new show is titled Disney The Tale of Moana and follows the same events of the film in a shorter amount of time. We were already looking forward to the show, but then we got a look at some of the incredible concept art and it became one of the things we were looking forward to the most. ©Disney Disney revealed that a 50-foot tall Te Ka puppet would be used during the fight between Moana and Te Ka, and is the largest puppet ever produced for a Disney Cruise Line show to date! ©Disney Disney dropped a first look, though, of what the show will look like in real life. Here’s Moana with her Wayfinding boat. AMAZING. ©Disney Let’s take a closer look. How Far I’ll Go Now we weren’t able to take pictures or videos during the show itself, but trust us — you’re in for a treat. Here’s a look at the stage! We watched the first act and Moana fans will be happy to know this is a retelling of the original movie so the storyline is basically the same. One cool fact we learned is that many of the actors are Hawaiian and love performing the show! The sets are minimal but are balanced well with projections. Overall, it’s beautiful and the actor playing Moana had a stunning voice. How cool does this set look?! One thing we should note is that if you haven’t seen the movie yet, you may be a bit lost. So if you’re booking a trip on the Treasure, we highly recommend studying up beforehand! We definitely think this is a show you cannot miss when you’re on board, so plan to see it at least one night during your cruise! More Recent Disney Treasure News! A trip to Disney World may give you some of your favorite memories and be an overall incredible time, but that doesn’t mean it’s a flawless experience. Magic Kingdom Don’t get us wrong, we LOVE visiting Disney World — obviously. The amazing attractions and experiences, beautiful hotels, and delicious eats along with all the nostalgia we feel each trip keep us coming back for more. However, even we can acknowledge that it’s not always sunshine and rainbows when visiting “The Most Magical Place On Earth”. Whether it’s your first visit to Disney World or your 100th, there are certain aspects of a Disney World vacation that are undeniably soul-crushing. In fact, we’ve come up with seven Disney World truths that are tough to hear, even if you’re already expecting them. You’ll Be Tired From All the Walking We’re sure you’ve heard this before, but get ready to hear it again: Disney World is the size of San Francisco. This means you’ll likely be doing a lot of walking every single day. You’re going to do a LOT of walking! It’s not absurd to assume you’ll walk around 10+ miles each park day, and that takes a toll on your feet and body if you aren’t prepared. Blisters, fatigue, and total loss of stamina are par for the course thanks to how much walking you’ll do. It’s enough to make even the most level-headed adults cranky. Don’t skimp out on a good pair of shoes! We can’t promise you’ll totally negate the pain of walking several miles every day, but you can ease it with the right pair of shoes and accessories like shoe inserts. We recommend breaking in a pair — or a few — of high-quality shoes before your visit so that your feet have the best support possible. We constantly write about our favorite shoes to wear to Disney World, so check back with us frequently for shoe tips! We Spent Thousands of Hours Testing Shoes in Disney World — Here’s What You Need To Know! How Expensive the Trip Is You probably already understand how expensive a trip to Disney World is. There’s the cost of lodging, theme park tickets, food, and travel to consider, and that adds up fast. However, the little things can also rack up a pretty hefty bill. Disney World can be expensive Smaller snacks can quietly eat into your budget, as do souvenirs, fees, last-minute emergency purchases, parking, and so much more. It’s likely you’ll come to Disney World with a budget and find yourself needing to stretch it to accommodate an increased need to spend. ©Disney The good news is we’re here to help. We provide all sorts of budgeting tips that will help you maximize your time at Disney World while saving a few bucks. Not Everything Is Magical When visiting Disney World, you’ll hear the words “Magic” and “Magical” quite a bit. However, we can attest that not everything you experience is “magical”. The parks closed due to Hurricane Milton Life happens. Recently, Hurricane Miton forced the Disney Parks to close and that’s a major example of things not going according to plan. Rides break down, refurbishment schedules go longer than expected, people are irritable and cranky, the weather may limit you, you run out of time to complete your itinerary, long lines will deter you, you’ll smell smells you wish you hadn’t, or you’ll face adversity that challenges your patience and threatens the vibes during your vacation. These kinds of things are guaranteed to happen and it’s important to understand that before you spend tons of money to visit Disney World. Crowds at Magic Kingdom can be a lot The best advice we can give is to always try to remain calm. Regardless of how big the problem that you run into is, keeping a calm composure will always help you navigate with the best efficiency. If you ever need to reset, seek out calm spots wherever you are and take a moment. Remember, Disney World vacations are supposed to be fun, and taking breaks can absolutely aid you in the quest to have the best trip ever. The Best Places to Escape in Disney World When Your Anxiety is Through the Roof You Won’t Be Able to Do Everything On Your List It’s impossible to do everything at Disney World in one trip, so, naturally, you’ll create a to-do list. Prioritizing is a really great idea before you begin your vacation and it really helps to create a tidy itinerary that helps you maximize your time. Still, there will be items on your list that you’ll be forced to leave out. Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance Unless you have only two rides on your list, you’re likely to experience some sort of disappointment. Even then, you’re still not safe. We’ve already talked about how ride closures happen as do unexpected breakdowns. You also have to factor in park hours and long waits, which can quickly harm your ability to do everything on your list. Unless you’re willing to pay an arm and a leg for the Lightning Lane Premier Pass, you’re subject to wait times and time itself. ©Disney While we can’t promise you that everything you want to do will always be open and available to experience, we do suggest looking into Lightning Lane pass options if you have the means. These will cost you some extra bucks, but they will save you time (and time is money, right?). It’s also important to prioritize your list of priorities. Creating your own personal tier list of what you HAVE to do on vacation is crucial. We also recommend taking advantage of the 60-day reservation window for advanced dining reservations so you get to eat at all the spots that are a must for you and your family. Everything You Need to Know about Lightning Lane Premier Pass in Disney World You’ll Be Glued to Your Phone Most vacations allow you to put the phone away for a bit and relax. These days, a Disney World vacation isn’t one of those instances. ©Disney Disney World’s app, My Disney Experience is a hub for all things Disney World. Mobile orders, Lightning Lanes, park tickets, reservations, wait times, maps, and more are all accessible through the app. Naturally, you’ll be looking at your phone A LOT throughout your vacation. ©Disney There’s really no workaround here. We recommend getting familiar with the app before your trip and picking up a FuelRod or portable charger so that you always feel comfortable with your phone battery level. To learn the ins and outs of the My Disney Experience app, check out our guide below! My Disney Experience — The Online Planning Tool for Your Walt Disney World Vacation Rain Is Inevitable Central Florida can have some beautiful weather, but it also has a subtropical climate, which means humidity and rain. Rainy day at Hollywood Studios It rains pretty often at Disney World, and it’s not always a light drizzle. It can come down pretty hard and is sometimes accompanied by thunder and lightning. When the weather gets too inclement, outdoor attractions can be shut down. Additionally, if you aren’t wearing the right outfit or have the right accessories, you can become miserable quickly. Rainy Day The trick here is to expect rain. Pack your ponchos, make sure you have the right kind of shoes, and stay up-to-date on all the latest weather updates. For tips on surviving Disney World during hurricane season, check out our video below! Curtains up for “Disney The Tale of Moana”! The first ever-stage adaptation of the beloved Walt Disney Animation Studios film, “Moana” takes center stage in the Walt Disney Theater aboard the Disney Treasure, and I’ve got a first look at the beautiful Broadway-style production. More About ‘Disney The Tale of Moana’ on the Disney Treasure From the very first scene, this spectacular show takes you on a journey across land and sea, with set design and musical elements inspired by cultures of the Pacific Islands woven throughout, that inspires Moana’s classic tale. “An Innocent Warrior” begins the show with vibrant dance and songs in a mix of languages including Tuvaluan, Tokelauan and Samoan. The show also includes the first stage performance of the song, “Warrior Face,” inspired by traditional Haka. Larger-than-life puppetry fills the Walt Disney Theatre stage throughout the show, including the largest puppet Disney Cruise Line has ever created in the massive, fiery Te Kā towering over the audience before eventually transforming into the gentle island goddess, Te Fiti. The show will feature several memorable songs from the film including, “How Far I’ll Go,” which is one of my personal favorites! How to See ‘Disney The Tale of Moana’ on the Disney Treasure Can’t wait to see this beautiful adventure come to life in a whole new way? Disney Cruise Line’s new ship, the Disney Treasure, has officially been christened! Bob Iger, Chief Executive Officer of The Walt Disney Company, and Josh D’Amaro, Chairman of Disney Experiences, both traveled to New York City to celebrate the historic moment in person and commence the traditional christening ceremony. “For more than 100 years, Disney stories have filled the world with joy and wonder, capturing the hearts and imaginations of generations across every continent,” said Iger. “And since the launch of the Disney Cruise Line in 1998, our ships have become brand ambassadors that bring our world-class storytelling and the immersive nature of our theme parks to new audiences in new places all over the world.” In a celebratory tribute to the adventurous stories represented onboard the new ship, Disney Cruise Line lit up the sky with drones depicting beloved Disney characters, including Madame Leota from the Haunted Mansion, Genie from the Walt Disney Studios Animation film, “Aladdin” and Dante from the Pixar Studios film, “Coco.” Following a stunning performance by award-winning singer-songwriter Jordin Sparks, voices from across The Walt Disney Company recited a blessing to bestow good fortune upon the Disney Treasure and its travelers, while a bottle of champagne created from glimmering drones sparkled across the sky. This finale embodied the longstanding maritime tradition of christening, when a godparent blesses a ship before its maiden voyage. In this case, Walt Disney Company cast, crew, Imagineers and employees around the world have the honorary role of godparent for the Disney Treasure. In case you missed it, catch the replay of this Disney Treasure celebration below. “This is an unprecedented era of growth for Disney Experiences, and a dramatic period of expansion at Disney Cruise Line,” said D’Amaro. “We are more than doubling our fleet to 13 ships by 2031 so that we can bring Disney cruise vacations to even more families across the globe. With the Disney Treasure, we continue to deliver an unparalleled family vacation at sea through the magic of Disney storytelling. The memories our guests create onboard this stunning ship will last a lifetime.” The Disney Treasure will set sail on its maiden voyage next month on Dec. 21, 2024, bringing adventurous stories from Disney, Pixar, Star Wars, Marvel and Disney Parks to life at sea. The impressive lineup of new venues includes the first ever bar inspired by the Haunted Mansion a theatrical dining experience themed to the Pixar Studios film, “Coco,” and an original Broadway-style stage show honoring the Walt Disney Animation Studios film, “Moana.” You can learn more about upcoming itineraries onboard Disney Cruise Line’s new ship at DisneyCruise.com. We’re aboard the brand-new Disney Treasure cruise ship and taking you along as we discover all of its secrets! ©Disney We were invited by Disney to check out the Disney Treasure (the Disney Cruise Line’s latest addition to its fleet) in New York City ahead of its scheduled maiden voyage on December 21st, 2024. Home to several different experiences and themed restaurants, one of the things we were most excited to see on the Disney Treasure was the Haunted Mansion Parlor, a Haunted Mansion-themed lounge that is sure to delight fans of the iconic Disney attraction. While checking out this sure-to-be-popular lounge, we got a first look at some of its offerings, including a secret menu! From what we saw, the menu is presented on a tablet and prompts at the bottom, “Tip and turn this book of spells. Your spirit yearns for the secret it tells.” How to access the secret menu When flipped vertically, “A Chilling Challenge” presents itself. The challenge reads, “[Blank] and crawlies, toads in a [blank]/ let there be [blank]/[blank] regions beyond!” Guests must then fill in the saying with words from a word bank at the top of the challenge. The secret menu riddle If this puzzle sounds familiar, then consider yourself a true fan of the Haunted Mansion attraction at the Disney Parks. The challenge guests are required to complete to access the secret menu is a quote from Madame Leota in the seance room at both American versions of the ride. Haunted Mansion in Magic Kingdom As for the menu itself, you’ll find the Restless Spirits Experience for Two — a concoction that features a drink with St. George Botanivore Gin, Screaming Soda, Blackberry, and Blueberry as well as a drink with Five Trail Blended Whiskey, Sour Shivers Lemonade, and Orange. Secret drink! As for the regular menu, you’ll see plenty of “libations conjured to liven thy spirit”! The menu offers tons of cocktails, wine, beer, and spirit-free drinks. You can even get a Hatbox Ghost Sipper! Menu Each beverage has a Haunted Mansion tie-in and you’ll discover drinks like The Chilling Challenge (818 Añejo Tequilla, Cointreau Noir, Blood Orange, Sour Cherry, Lime Salt Air Foam) and the Final Vow (Código Artesanal Mezcal, AMaretto, Strawberry, Mango, Lime, Hot Sauce). Anchor’s away! The Treasure in NYC! The Disney Treasure — the latest ship in the Disney Cruise Line’s seemingly ever-expanding fleet is almost ready for its maiden voyage! This week, Disney gave us a SNEAK PEEK at the new ship during a media preview in New York City! We got to scope out many of the Treasure’s new areas, including the Coco restaurant, Jungle Cruise lounge, Haunted Mansion Parlor, and more! We even got to take a look at the ship’s new small dining areas: HeiHei Café, Jumbeaux’s Sweets, and Jade Cricket Café. HeiHei Café We’ve said it before, and we’ll say it again: we love a coffee stop on vacation. We need a little sweet treat to hold us over! If you’re looking for a place to take a caffeine break, you can head to the HeiHei Cafe! This is one of two specialty walkup cafés near the Grand Hall. HeiHei Cafe HeiHei is keeping watch over the proceedings at this walkup cafe, so make sure you say hi! Hey — we recognize him! The cafe has lots of places to sit and even some purse hooks and outlets to charge your phone. They really thought of everything, didn’t they? There are even some chargers! Disney is serving up its typical menu of coffee and lattes here, so make sure to stop by if you need a treat! Jumbeaux’s Sweets Disney’s new Zootopia-themed ice cream parlor is ADORABLE! This sweet spot is inspired by Jerry Jumbeaux Jr. from Zootopia, and the details will melt your heart (but not your ice cream — keep that cold!). Jumbeaux’s Sweets This spot serves over 31 flavors of handmade gelato and ice cream, plus specialty treats, candies, and more! Make sure to take a photo with Judy and Nick while you’re at it. How CUTE! Here’s a peek at the menu. You can get a milkshake, a sundae, a scoop (or three) of ice cream, and even gelato! Menu Of course, there are PLENTY of toppings, too. Load it up, people! Look at all those toppings If you want a little snack to go with your ice cream, you can enjoy everything from chocolate-dipped strawberries to macarons! YUM! There are brownies, cupcakes, and even carrot cake treats. There’s something for everyone! This is a need Of course, we also spotted some Zootopia-inspired treats for $5.50. There are so many treats! Here’s our ice cream — we kept it simple. No fancy butter brickle-esque snacks for us today. We have an entire ship to explore! Ice Cream! But, for all you Disney Cruise Line visitors who aren’t on the job, feel free to get creative with your sundae creations! Here’s a peek at the souvenir ice cream truck you can get with your treat. Now look at THIS! Don’t forget to take the time to look around the restaurant! There are so many fun details in this ice cream shop. What a fun detail! As you can see, we had some fun here. But now, it’s time for our next stop! Marceline Market The Marceline Market has made its way to the Disney Treasure! This quick-service spot was inspired by Walt Disney’s early childhood hometown in Missouri. Marceline Market This marketplace is full of all kinds of foods — we’re talking classic favorites, international specialties, and plant-based offerings for breakfast and lunch. The dining room is HUGE Make sure to load up on drinks! Don’t forget a drink! Although it looks like there is a LOT of seating, this dining area can fill up! Make sure to go early if you’re trying to sit with a large group of people. More seating The Disney Treasure small dining areas are simple and charming. Okay, is it just us, or is almost ALL of Disney World under some kind of construction? Okay, maybe not all, but there is a LOT in the works right now. The new Disney Vacation Club (DVC) villa at the Polynesian Village Resort is under construction, although it’s close to completion. Magic Kingdom is getting an expansion in Frontierland plus a whole new land. Animal Kingdom’s Dinoland, U.S.A. will soon start its journey to becoming a new land. Hollywood Studios is getting a Monsters, Inc. land. Over in EPCOT, Test Track is becoming a new version of itself. Well, now, a Disney World hotel is expanding — and we’ve got some details. The Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin could very well be one of favorite off-property hotels, although technically, it IS on property — it’s in the EPCOT area of Disney World. Now, we’re always telling you why we recommend looking into a stay there, and now we’ve got some big news about the hotel to share: the resort is expanding! Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin The Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin just recently broke ground on this expansion, which will add an additional 120,000 square feet of event space to its current meeting and convention space. Joining the hotel for the groundbreaking ceremony were executives from Tishman Realty and MetLife, as well as Marriott International and Disney World. Oh, and a certain mouse was also on hand to help the Swan and Dolphin mark the occasion. ©Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin This will be the first major expansion to the resort’s meeting space since 2003. It will add a new two-story building to the hotel’s existing convention space and will use the resort’s original Michael Graves design as inspiration with lots of natural light, modern touches, water themes, and warm, wooden color schemes. Swan Resort lobby This will give the Swan and Dolphin a massive 469,000 square feet of meeting space total between its three hotels (the Swan, Dolphin, and Swan Reserve). It’s part of a $275 million project that will also go towards meeting space and room upgrades. The new space is expected to be finished in 2026. If you look near the fireplace, you’ll spot a statue of celebrated Disney Imagineer Rolly Crump that includes several tributes to his idea for a “Museum of the Weird,” including a melting face that resembles the “Candle Man,” his very first idea for the museum. And, a ghost may even follow you home on your voyage … The Haunted Mansion Parlor mirror will offer a frightening surprise when the famous hitchhiking ghosts mysteriously appear in the frame. Specialty Merchandise for Haunted Mansion Parlor on the Disney Treasure For those of you with a home aesthetic which, ahem, screams “haunted ship,” you’re in luck! The Haunted Mansion Parlor will also offer exclusive merchandise, from commemorative mugs inspired by The Mariner and the captain’s fiancé to a nostalgic Haunted Mansion clock. These are all perfect keepsakes for Haunted Mansion fans you can take home from the parlor. Keep an eye on the Disney Park Blog today for more photos from on board the Disney Treasure! When going to the Disney parks every day for our job, there are a few things we know about; one of those is how important the bag you bring with you is! Magic Kingdom We have tried several park bags from belt bags to backpacks. Our goal is to have that knowledge to share with our readers to make your trip easier. We recently tried out a new bag that is very affordable and we can’t wait to tell you about it. DISCLOSURE: This post may contain affiliate links, meaning when you click the links and make a purchase, we receive a commission. Before we dive in, if you don’t have Amazon Prime, do yourself a favor and try our FREE trial by clicking below! We were on the hunt for a new park bag to carry that is light, but large enough to hold the essentials that we need. We found this Nylon Crescent Crossbody Bag on Amazon and gave it a try. The crescent bag is made of durable and soft nylon fabric, water-resistant, and lightweight. The body of the bag is crescent-shaped, foldable, and easy to clean — which we love. The Crescent Bag Here’s what we loved about this bag when we tried it: It’s compact and soft enough that it doesn’t give you a lot of bulk for just needing to carry around the essentials. It will be a reliable option to hold the bare minimum for a parkgoer and maybe an extra or two, but if you don’t like to carry a lot around with you this could work perfectly! It is a great alternative to a belt bag, which is slightly smaller than this one. It shipped in this box This bag has an adjustable shoulder strap and a durable zipper. The adjustable shoulder strap allows you to adjust the length you need to match your daily needs. The durable and smooth zipper keeps the bag perfectly closed and prevents your everyday essentials from falling out. We already appreciate the size You can choose between 19 different colors! We were able to load this bag up! A few of our favorite items we brought were sunscreen, our reusable utensil set, tissues, and more. All of this fit inside! Here are some honest things we would change about the bag. Our reporter is used to carrying around a backpack so they found themselves pulling it up over their shoulder. We also wish it did have the capacity to hold more than just a larger inside compartment and two small card slip pockets, so if you are used to bringing A LOT of extras with you to the park, this might not be for you. Large inside pocket Is this a need for a trip? Our reporter says “Absolutely”! This is perfect for someone looking to toss a few cards, keys, and a light wallet. It’s also a great option to carry with you around at EPCOT festivals because it is large enough to fit those taller booklets into with ease. When asked if it made her trip to the park easier, she said ” Sure did, while it wasn’t my favorite. I would totally take it out with me again. It’s a very casual companion that you could rely on to keep your items safe for you, while still being able to dress it up or down as an outfit accessory. It was small enough for a light traveler to get a great value out of.” See how much fits! In summary, if you like to minimize what you bring with you to the parks, this is a great option. We loved the style and the different color options making it easy to find one to go with your park outfits. If you tend to bring more than just the basics with you to the park, this might not be for you. Adjustable strap! For under $15, it is definitely worth the money and you can give it a try for yourself! Shop on Amazon Be sure to follow us at DFB for more deals on all things Disney-related! We’re getting some big additions in EPCOT next year! Spaceship Earth at EPCOT Test Track will reopen with an entire new theme and look, and a brand-new lounge is coming to Spaceship Earth. We can’t wait to check out that new dining space, but as Disney fans, our team has some demands about what we’d like to see included! Themed Drinks First of all, our team requests that the Spaceship Earth lounge will have a menu filled with super cool themed drinks. We’d especially love one of them to be something smoky called “Rome Burning” — you can’t have a Spaceship Earth lounge and NOT pay homage to the ride’s most iconic scent! ©Disney In fact, let’s make all the drinks themed to the ride! We could have “Thank the Phonecians” and the “Grand and Miraculous” cocktail and even the “Faceless Newsboy” or the “Foxy Scientist.” Ideas abound! EPCOT Music Every good restaurant has a chill soundtrack that really sets the vibe for the space, and with the Spaceshp Earth lounge, it’s really a no-brainer. We NEED to hear all our favorite tunes from EPCOT days past. There better be some “Universe of Energy” moments and bopping to “Veggie, Veggie, Fruit, Fruit.” Kitchen Kabaret Seriously, at this point we’ve got nearly five decades of ride soundtracks to pull from, and if Disney was able to make a whole fireworks show themed to old EPCOT music, then they can certainly pull out the best tunes for the restaurant. We promise you people would go feral for the Tapestry of Nations music. Nods to Old EPCOT And speaking of nods to old EPCOT, this is a chance for the Imagineers to absolutely ball out. We’re talking old animatronics, concept art from gone attractions, hidden details in the carpet…really anything that allows us to have a little EPCOT history scavenger hunt during our meal. EPCOT This lounge could totally pay homage to the EPCOT of the 80s, and people would flock there just to feel the nostalgia. We seriously can’t wait to see what Disney does with the space. As Many Spaceship Earth-Shaped Things as Possible Included in that decor is bound to be quite a few geodesic spheres…it’s a cool look! We’d love to see the pattern in the carpet, on the walls, and we’d especially love Spaceship Earth-inspired chandeliers. It would be incredible! Throw in some Spaceship Earth food while you’re at it! Seriously, depending on how cheesy we want to get here, we could have Spaceship Earth throw pillows, coasters, menus, windows, really anything. It could be truly unique! Really Good Food Of course, here at DFB, one of our biggest priorities for this new lounge is the menu! EPCOT is known for its wide variety of cuisine, and while some places around the park are beloved, others are not. You know what we want from the Spaceship Earth lounge if it’s not too much to ask? A really solid, delicious menu with hopefully affordable prices. Lounge spread at Trader Sam’s Grog Grotto A really reliable place to get small plates and just chill out with friends in the middle of a long park day would be lovely. Even though there are other lounges around the park, this one could stand out as the place where anybody can go — a lounge for the people! Dame Judi Dench And finally, our last request is simple. No trouble here at all, really. In fact, it’s a positively easy request to grant. We just want Dame Judi Dench, the voice of Spaceship Earth, to be hanging out in the lounge at all times, ready to share a meal with us at a moment’s notice. Sounds delightful, right? ©The Irish News So there you have it! All of our completely reasonable demands for the new Spaceship Earth lounge coming to EPCOT. We can’t wait to check it out! There are a lot of opportunities in Disney World to sit down, have some good food, and just RELAX. The Cake Bake Shop We love those longer dinners at places like Victoria & Albert’s at the Grand Floridian, Shiki-Sai: Sushi Izakaya in EPCOT, and California Grill at the Contemporary. However, is there anything MORE chill than a nice afternoon tea? Well, Disney World hasn’t had an afternoon tea offering in QUITE a while (the Grand Floridian Garden View Tea Room never reopened after 2020), but now it has one again! So come with us as we check out the NEW afternoon tea at The Cake Bake Shop by Gwendolyn Rogers at the BoardWalk! At The Roses of Gold Afternoon Tea at The Cake Bake Shop, you get a dedicated server that will show you the list of teas you can choose from — and you can try as many as you like. These teas have been “meticulously curated” in collaboration with Dammann Frères. FANCY. You’ll also get a selection of homemade cones and the Roses of Gold tray, which is decked out with various desserts and finger sandwiches. The entire experience is $95 per adult and $65 per cheap. So what’s it like? Time for tea! We also want to mention that you can opt for gluten-free snacks, including bread for the finger sandwiches, PLUS there’s a brownie that’s made in a special pan so that EVERY PIECE IS AN EDGE PIECE. Y’all — BRILLIANT. There are some vegan options, but they’re limited and are mostly just salads. Welcome to Afternoon Tea We chose two teas which we were told were popular options, as well as the Breakfast Blend. Like we said, though, you can drink as much tea as you want (or at least as much as your bladder can handle), although you can only have two teapots on the table at any given time. The L’Oriental is a green tea with the aromas of passionfruit, peach, and strawberry. It was wonderfully light and bright. It was herbaceous right at the front of our noses, too. We loved it, especially after adding a bit of fresh honey to sweeten it up. L’Oriental The Carcadet Nuit d’été (fruit tea) was GORGEOUS. It’s a fruit infusion tea with hibiscus, apple, rosehip peel, raspberry, strawberry, and cream aromas. It had this beautiful burgundy color and was wonderfully fruity. There was a hint of tartness, but it wasn’t strong. Also, note that this is a naturally decaffeinated tea. This was the standout tea for us. Carcadet Nuit d’été The Breakfast Blend is a black tea blend of Ceylon, Darjeeling, and Assam teas. As its name suggests, it’s the perfect tea for breakfast if you’re waking up in the morning and need to get your day started. It’s very good and spot on for its name and flavors. Breakfast Blend The Anichai is a black tea flavored with ginger, cloves, red berries, and cardamon. It’s got a woodland cinnamon flavor to it. Our server called it “Christmas in a cup,” and you know what? We agree! It’s like apple cider but without the apple. It’s got a very festive flavor. However, it’s not very sweet, so you might want to add some sugar or honey. Anichai Let’s talk about the food. The Orange Cranberry Scone was DELIGHTFUL. We’re just going to admit that we DEVOURED this thing. It was so buttery and moist — it just melted in the mouth. Orange Cranberry Scone The orange zest was subtle and offered a nice hint of taste which paired really well with the cranberries. Y’all. This could be the best scone we’ve ever had. So buttery The scones are served with traditional Clotted Cream (YUM), as well as European Salted Butter and The Cake Bake Shop’s Pixie Jelly pioxithat we love so much. Jelly, Butter, and Clotted Cream Okay, let’s talk about the tray. The tea tray has two of each offering of sandwiches, treat bars, and a special tea cake you can ONLY get with the Afternoon Tea. Note there were two of us at this experience, and so we got one of each treat. If you have more people at your table, you’ll get extra treats to accommodate them. Our server also explained if you’re doing the experience solo, you’ll get a smaller amount on your tray with one of each. For three or more people, you’ll get multiple trays. The tray Okay, we’ll start with the sandwiches. The Egg Salade was so nice (and also, we have to give a shot out for the incredible bread on all the sandwiches — it’s so airy and light). It was light on the mayo, so it wasn’t super runny. It also had a nice texture with a crunch provided by a bit of celery. Egg salade The Chicken Salade was extraordinary. It’s a chicken salad with grapes in it plus LOTS of chicken and a nice crunch. It was also nice and light, and again, we loved that bread. Chicken Salade The Salmon Sandwich was lovely. It’s smoked salmon that’s nice and fresh and a bit on the salty side. The sandwich had a nice creaminess to it. Salmon The Herbed Goat Cheese with Thinly Sliced Cucumber was also so nice. It had a great crunch and the goat cheese added a lovely light creaminess and flavor. Honestly, we thought all four sandwiches were a win. Herbed Goat Cheese with Thinly Sliced Cucumber One reporter thought the Lemon Bar was so wonderfully tart, but also sweet and it melted in the mouth. However, our other reporter didn’t like it and said it tasted like something that had just come out of the wash. The Blackberry Jam Crumble was something we both agreed on. The base was buttery and crumbled just enough without being too messy. The raspberry was also that wonderful pixie jam that is made fresh here, which offers a nice balance of tart and sweet. The Magic Bar…well, this one didn’t do it for us. It had a nice texture and was soft, plus it wasn’t messy. But it has walnuts, and if you don’t like walnuts, this might not do it for you. Sweet treats The Truffle was incredible. It was so creamy on the inside with a wonderful dark chocolate flavor that wasn’t too heavy. We also thought it was a nice size. The Tea Cake was delicious and reminds us of why we will gladly pay $22 for slices of cake at this restaurant. It was light and airy and had more of that pixie jam in the middle, which just made it even better. The French Macarons were also great: one was champagne, while the other was rose. They had a nice texture when you bit into them. The champagne flavor had a nice whipped feeling. But both were light and wonderful. We will say these aren’t the best macarons we’ve ever had, though, but we enjoyed them enough. More sweet treats Overall, we think this is a great experience for a special occasion. There are other teas outside of Disney World that are comparable for less money, but we cannot stress how impeccable the service is at The Cake Bake Shop, which makes the experience just that much more magical. For us, we’d say it was worth it. Join the DFB Newsletter to get all the breaking news right in your inbox! Click here to Subscribe! WE KNOW DISNEY. YOU CAN, TOO. The Disney Treasure will be home to some familiar dining spots, like the 1923 restaurant and Worlds of Marvel restaurant, as well as the new Plaza de Coco restaurant. It’s time to come aboard Disney Cruise Line’s new ship, the Disney Treasure! Before it sets sail on its inaugural voyage out across the sea, chart a course for the very first photos of the majestic new vessel. You’re among the first to see where all Disney Cruise guests begin their vacation: the Grand Hall, or as we like to think of it – our palace on the seas. The Grand Hall embodies the ship’s theme of adventure and draws on real-world influences from Asia and Africa, as well as the enchanting land of Agrabah from the Walt Disney Animation Studios film, “Aladdin.” Disney Details Found in the Grand Hall on the Disney Treasure True to Disney Cruise Line tradition, the Disney Treasure features a unique character statue that brings the ship’s theme to life. At the heart of the Grand Hall is a life-size bronze statue of Aladdin, Princess Jasmine and Magic Carpet, right at the base of the grand staircase. Surrounding this iconic statue, are even more details found throughout the Grand Hall that are inspired by “Aladdin” and represent the film’s spirit of adventure. Nearby the statue, you’ll spot the magic lamp. The Grand Hall’s intricate carpet evokes the fountain in Jasmine’s courtyard and also features animals you’ll see in the film including Aladdin’s mischievous monkey sidekick Abu, Jasmine’s birds, the golden scarab beetle, and more. Entertainment Experiences in the Grand Hall on the Disney Treasure The Grand Hall also becomes a dynamic theater that offers incredible entertainment experiences, character encounters and interactions with special storytellers – the Treasure “Sea”kers – who perform short retellings of classic Disney stories. Just like onboard the Disney Treasure, the Grand Hall is just the beginning of our adventure through the ship today! Stay tuned to the Disney Parks Blog for more details about the new spaces onboard, and head to DisneyCruise.com to learn more about upcoming itineraries on the Disney Treasure! There are SO many incredible restaurants throughout Disney World — but if you ask us, some of the BEST are hiding at the hotels. Wings, Noodles, Dumplings, and Broccolini at ‘Ohana Sure, you’ve heard about ‘Ohana and Sanaa, Chef Mickey’s, and California Grill, but, what about those restaurants that aren’t often mentioned as the best? Does it mean they’re not worth checking out? Quite the opposite, actually, and that’s why we’re here to tell you about the BEST hidden hotel restaurant in Disney World. Over near Disney Springs, you’ll find Disney’s Old Key West Resort — the very first Disney Vacation Club property. It’s a severely underrated resort that’s themed around the Florida Keys, with tropical vibes and atmosphere to match. But, it’s also home to a severely underrated restaurant that we don’t think enough people talk about: Olivia’s Cafe! Olivia’s Cafe This Table Service restaurant serves up classic American fare and items inspired by the Florida Keys like Conch Fritters, Blackened Mahi Mahi Tacos, and a Key Lime Pie for dessert during lunch and dinner. You can also find a delicious breakfast here, too, featuring Banana Bread French Toast among the offerings. This beachy, breezy, casual restaurant at Disney’s Old Key West Resort offers yummy dishes and a family atmosphere that anyone’s bound to love. Olivia’s Cafe Brunch Spread Olivia’s is also famous for their Savory Hushpuppies served with honey butter and their Southernmost Fried Chicken — which is served with a choice of eggs, Olivia’s Breakfast Potatoes, and a biscuit or mashed potatoes, southern gravy, a biscuit, and seasonal vegetables — depending on whether you’re joining for brunch or dinner! Southernmost Buttermilk Chicken Oh, and did we mention that Olivia’s is one of the few Disney World restaurants that not only serves brunch — but serves it every single day?! That’s right — when you can find a true “brunch” around Disney World, it’s often only available on the weekends. But, no matter what day you visit Olivia’s, you can get brunch as long as you book a reservation before 11AM — that’s when lunch/dinner kick in. Olivia’s Cafe This restaurant really does feel like you’ve been transported to the Keys — the atmosphere is warm and bright, beachy and cozy, and there’s a real family vibe to the place. This is clearly evidenced by the hundreds of photos lining the walls of the entrance — of real, DVC member family photos from throughout the years. Old Key West was Disney’s first Vacation Club property, and that gives it a real family-friendly, neighborhood vibe. If you ask us, it’s one that’s worthy of a stop no matter what time of day you visit! Prime Rib There are SO many incredible restaurants hiding around the Disney World hotels — Olivia’s is just one of our favorites! Consider booking a reservation there on your next trip if you love southern coastal eats, good vibes, and a great atmosphere. It’s finally happening! We’ve been given the opportunity to see the Disney Treasure, the newest ship in the Disney Cruise Line fleet. The Disney Treasure We’ve been able to give you a first look at the Coco dining experience aboard the ship, as well as get a peek inside the ship’s THREE lounges, including the one we’re most excited about, Haunted Mansion Parlor. We even saw the ship’s christening (a VERY special occasion). But let’s talk about rooms. We previously gave looks at one of the ship’s staterooms, as well as the EPCOT-inspired Tower Suite, but now we’re going to bring you along to get a first look at the Lion King concierge suites. Looking to book a cruise on the Disney Treasure? Let our friends at Small World Vacations help you! Their services are totally free and they’ll take all the headaches out of planning your cruise. First off, we’d like to thank our friends at Small World Vacations for sharing this first look at these concierge rooms with us. We’re going to have to say that if you love The Lion King, you’re going to LOVE these rooms. For starters, the room numbers on the doors have a little Simba on them. ©Small World Vacations Here’s a look at the bed in the suite. Look at the cute towel animal on the bed! It’s a giraffe! Also, we’re impressed because making a giraffe out of a towel CAN’T be easy! The overall colors of the room are neutrals, too, which are reminiscent of The Lion King. ©Small World Vacations The mural above the bed is GORGEOUS. It depicts Pride Rock and all the animals coming to it. ©Small World Vacations There are so many great details, too, in the room. Take a peek at the video below. We love how all the details are inspired by African colors and art. We’re not done showing you EVERYTHING the Disney Treasure has to offer. We’ve got SO much more to share with you! We are in New York City for the christening ceremony and media preview of Disney’s newest cruise ship, the Disney Treasure! Disney Treasure ©Disney The Christening Spectacular happened last night, and today, we are going ONBOARD the ship! We are getting a first look at this brand-new cruise ship, and, of course, we are bringing you all along with us. As part of our tour, we got to see the beautiful rooms onboard the Disney Treasure. Now, if we could just figure out how to convince someone to let us live on the ship full-time…anyway, let’s take a look at the staterooms. ©Disney We stopped by a Verandah Stateroom. In total, the Disney Treasure has 1,256 staterooms, and of those, there are 948 verandah staterooms. Verandah staterooms are outside staterooms and have been designed with families in mind, complete with upscale amenities. ©Disney When designing these staterooms, Disney stated that their goal was to “strike an inviting balance between modern design and nostalgic charm with a fresh, natural color scheme and custom artwork that will entice guests to peer beyond their staterooms into fantastical worlds from heartwarming Disney adventures.” ©Disney The rooms are cozy and comfortable. Families will enjoy their stay in one of these rooms, even if they end up spending more time outside of it enjoying everything the ship has to offer. ©Disney Be sure to take some time to enjoy and admire the details you’ll find around these rooms. The artwork and special designs are very impressive and make you feel like you’ve been transported into a Disney story. Each room has plenty of storage space as well as a bathroom, so you’ll have everything you need to enjoy your trip! ©Disney We are getting to experience EVEN MORE onboard the Disney Treasure, including trying some of the food and seeing some of the entertainment.
