Disney FINALLY announced what will be replacing the former NBA experience at Disney Springs — LEVEL99! Future home of LEVEL99 We know what you might be thinking, “A what now?” which is why we’re here to share everything we know about this interactive, social entertainment experience. The Disney Springs location will be LEVEL99’s fifth, but first in Florida — and we’re pretty darn excited about it! LEVEL99 is a destination for “real-world, challenge-based, social entertainment” for adults featuring over 50 physical and mental challenges set in artistic environments. It’s essentially a giant, futuristic arcade and entertainment center. ©LEVEL99 The Disney Springs location will be the largest LEVEL99 to date with over 60 challenge rooms and duels. It will occupy over 45,000 square feet in a two-story space (which we’re assuming is the former NBA Experience) and will feature dining with a chef-crafted menu — including LEVEL99’s award-winning, Detroit-style pizza. ©LEVEL99 While we don’t know a ton of details about the Disney Springs location specifically — like whether there will be any Disney theming or kid-friendly games — we’ve taken a look at what some of the current locations are like to get an idea of what we might be in store for, and we think we’re going to like it! What is LEVEL99? According to LEVEL99‘s website, the goal of your experience is to “work with your friends to discover new challenges, collect all the stars, find digital treasure and master new experiences.” Think of it like an escape room, an obstacle course, and an arcade all wrapped into one — with hand-crafted food and drinks to boot. What kind of games are there? There are three different types of games at the existing LEVEL99 locations: Rooms, Duels, and Art Hunts. You can see a little about each type below: Rooms are cooperative games to be explored, played, and conquered by teams of 2-6 players. Each room is a unique experience, falling into our PHYSICAL, SKILL, or MENTAL categories. Physical rooms will test your strength, balance, and flexibility. Skill rooms will test your accuracy, timing, and reflexes. Mental rooms will test your memory, problem-solving, spatial thinking… and more! Duels are head-to-head challenges found throughout the Arena. Challenge a friend and lay it all on the line in one of our 7 (rather public) competitive challenges. Art Hunts are a low-key scavenger hunt involving the playful art found all throughout the space. Each piece of art contains a hidden Glyph. Completing Art Hunts is the surest way of seeing and exploring every inch of our bright and whimsical wonderland, so make sure to complete them while you’re “rehydrating” in your downtime between games. ©LEVEL99 How do you play? When you go to get your tickets, you’ll create an account that will eventually be linked to a wristband that will give you access to all of the games. You’ll tap your “Veloband” anywhere you see the LEVEL99 logo to get started. The rooms are designed to be played again and again, and they’re challenging — so if you get stumped at first, don’t worry. ©LEVEL99 Team performance impacts the rewards you earn, and you can level up your account, and earn fragments which can be redeemed for snacks, perks, Emblem customizations, swag, and more! Top players get featured on the Leaderboards for all to see. LEVEL99 is designed to keep you coming back, so hardly anyone is able to play through the over 50 challenges available in each venue. Do you need reservations? Reservations aren’t required for the existing LEVEL99 locations, though buying your tickets in advance is strongly encouraged. It’s possible the Disney Springs location will be a bit busier and therefore more strict about reservations, but only time will tell. What ages is LEVEL99 for? Technically, there is no age restriction for LEVEL99, but it is billed as an “adult playground” on their website. We’re not sure if this might change since this location will be in Disney World, but according to LEVEL99, many of the games are physically and mentally demanding, and younger children may struggle to complete them. ©LEVEL99 The current LEVEL99 locations are recommended for ages 10 and up, with those younger needing to be accompanied by an adult. Kids ages 11 to 15 will need to have an adult present in the venue and reachable by cell phone, but they don’t need to stay with them at all times. What else should you know? LEVEL99 recommends wearing comfortable clothing including closed-toed shoes and athletic wear, since some of the challenges can be pretty physically demanding. The website suggests to wear something you can run, jump, crawl, and climb in” and that baggy clothes will only slow you down. ©LEVEL99 In addition, over half of the games at the current LEVEL99 locations are accessible and have been built specifically to accommodate wheelchairs. And, there is also accessibility information at the entrance to each room that gives guidance for players with hearing, vision, or mobility impairment, so that those players can choose the best experiences for them. ©LEVEL99 As of now, an official opening date or timeline has not been announced, but we’ll be keeping an eye out for more. In the meantime, we’ll be on the lookout for the latest updates about LEVEL99. Let’s go to Disney World! Magic Kingdom There are so many things to splurge on when you’re in Disney World! From different hotels to table-service dining, there’s no shortage of ways to spend money. One splurge in Disney World is booking a Disney VIP tour! Getting your own guide can feel like the height of Disney spending but it might not be the hack you think it is. Disney VIP Tours are what lots of Disney fans consider a bucket list goal! Private VIP Tours offer guests the opportunity to get a tour guide who takes you through Disney and walks you to the front of the lines of the most popular rides in Disney World. These trips are customizable around the parks with groups of up to 10 people. VIP Tour Guides The tour comes with private transportation, a choice of what park (or parks) you want to go to, pre-arrival planning including a start time chosen by the guest, front-of-the-line access, and information provided by your tour guide! Now this all sounds great but it does come at a pretty price. VIP Tours The tours are booked at a 7-hour minimum, with prices ranging from $450 to $900 per hour, depending on the date. This doesn’t include your park ticket which you will need in addition to your VIP tour. Our team has experienced VIP tours before and it does feel like the height of Disney luxury when you get snacks delivered to you after you’ve just hopped off of your favorite ride. Via @joshgad on Instagram There is one thing that people think is a hack but we’re here to say it’s not! If you park hop while you’re on your VIP tour, it’s going to suck up a lot of your time. You have to travel between parks, walk from ride to ride, and navigate the parks with your tour guide which can add up to quite a bit of time. Crowds at Magic Kingdom Many people consider park hopping a hack on your VIP tour because you can get to the front of the lines for the most popular rides in Disney World but once you add up all of the time spent between rides, it can feel like a loss of money. If you’re looking to maximize what you can accomplish in the parks, you might be better off buying Lightning Lane MultiPass! ©Disney Lightning Lane MultiPass is one of Disney’s newest skip-the-line offerings that allows you to skip a minimum of three lines per day! With MuliPass, you can select 3 attractions before your park day begins and you can continue to book lightning lanes throughout your park day. So far, the highest price we’ve seen is $39 per person per day. Lightning Lane We’ve tested Multi Pass many times and have found that you can get many more than just the guaranteed 3 lightning lane skips. It’s much more budget-friendly than the private VIP tours, however, you do have to book the lightning lanes and nothing is guaranteed outside of the initial three you book. Lightning Lane VIP tours can still be such a nice splurge if you want to do something special in Disney World, but if you want to use it as a hack to maximize, maybe consider grabbing Lightning Lane MultiPass instead. Either way, do what you to do with your Disney vacation! As always, keep following DFB for all of your Disney tips and tricks! Hello from Italy! OK, this isn’t the real Italy…it’s the Italy Pavilion in EPCOT. But this place has authentic handmade pizza, Italian designer bags, and Italian margaritas; what more could you need? Ciao! Speaking of Italian cocktails — it turns out there are a lot. In fact, the DFB team went on a DEEP DIVE into the drinks at this pavilion, and after all that work, we simply had to show it off. If you’ve ever wondered what it’s like to work for a food blog, this is it. If you’re new here, one of the main things you should know about us is that we are Disney World EXPERTS. We go to Disney World every single day (even holidays!). We eat EVERYTHING around the parks and hotels so that you know what’s worth your money. We even tracked down the official pillows used at Disney World hotels so we could buy them for ourselves. Dole Whip from Aloha Isle at Disney World While you already KNOW we’re among the first to visit all of Disney’s brand-new restaurants, we also like to check in on the old ones every once in a while. You never know when a restaurant might surprise you! (Lookin’ at you, Tony’s Town Square. That garlic bread was a SHOCK!) In fact, it’s time to check in on the drinks at the Italy Pavilion in EPCOT, more specifically, one popular drink: the Italian Margarita. You’d be AMAZED by the number of iterations of this simple drink. Gelateria Toscana OK, let’s start with the current Italian Margarita from the Granita Smoothies menu at Gelateria Toscana. It is described as “Frozen Limoncello, Tequila, and Margarita” and costs $12. As you can probably gather, it’s tart, icy, and lemony. Italian Margarita But this wasn’t our first Italian Margarita in EPCOT. Not by a long shot. Back in 2021, for example, this drink was a MUCH darker shade of yellow — more lemon flavoring? Less ice? Clearly, even though this is the same drink, it’s not the same drink. Italian Margarita in 2021 Then, there are all the Italian Margaritas at the seasonal EPCOT festivals. In 2024, during the EPCOT Flower and Garden Festival, we tried the Italian Margarita at the Primavera Kitchen food booth. This one was made with limoncello and tequila and priced at $12. Like the Italian Margarita from Gelateria Toscana in 2021, this one is a darker shade of yellow with a lot less ice than what we’re seeing in 2025. Italian Margarita at the 2024 EPCOT Flower and Garden Festival There was also a similar version at the 2023 EPCOT Flower and Garden Festival food booth. Clearly, the Italy Pavilion loves to sell Italian Margaritas. Italian Margarita at the 2023 EPCOT Flower and Garden Festival See that unsightly portal — er, Harmoinuous barge — in the middle of the lagoon? That means we’re throwing it back to 2022! Our 2022 Italian Margarita had a little more ice, but still wasn’t quite the same as the version we tried in 2025. Italian Margarita at the 2022 EPCOT Food and Wine Festival We’re still going, people! Here is the Italian Margarita served at the 2020 EPCOT Food and Wine Festival. This one looks pretty close to the 2025 iteration, and back when we tried it, we noted that it had a semi-frozen consistency. This one was also made with limoncello and tequila. Italian Margarita at the 2020 EPCOT Food and Wine Festival Alright, we’ll admit it. Our visit to EPCOT during the 2020 EPCOT Flower and Garden Festival did not produce the best photos, but shhh — that was a long time ago. We’ve come a long way since then! Either way, we have proof that in 2020, EPCOT’s Italian Margarita was a darker shade of yellow and was served semi-frozen. Italian Margarita at the 2020 EPCOT Flower and Garden Festival Up next, you can see the Italian Margarita we got during the 2019 EPCOT Festival of the Holidays. Clearly, this drink is not exclusive to any one EPCOT Festival — Disney serves it all the time! Italian Margarita at the 2019 EPCOT Festival of the Holidays The Italian Margarita at the 2014 EPCOT Food and Wine Festival (yes, 2014!!!) was also served semi-frozen. People have been cooling off with this refreshing drink for over a decade! Italian Margarita at the 2014 EPCOT Food and Wine Festival Now, this is interesting! The Italian Margarita at the 2012 EPCOT Food and Wine Festival actually looks the closest to the present-day Italian Margarita at Gelateria Toscana. It’s a pale shade of yellow and is served frozen. Italian Margarita at the 2012 EPCOT Food and Wine Festival Oh, and if you want to throw it WAY back, Via Napoli served an Italian Margarita in 2010. This one came with a lemon wedge and looks a lot more liquidy than the frozen drinks served outdoors. Italian Margarita at Via Napoli in 2010 Via Napoli does not currently offer an Italian Margarita, but you can get a variety of limoncello drinks and even a Lemon Drop cocktail with vodka and limoncello over shaved ice. If you’re asking us what we’d order at Via Napoli if we were in the mood for a citrusy lemon drink, we’d go with the Lemon Drop for $16. (Though the Limoncello Mule with Grey Goose L’Orange vodka, limoncello, peach purée, orange juice, pineapple juice, lime juice, and ginger beer also sounds delightful.) Via Napoli in EPCOT’s Italy pavilion Phew! As you can see, we know a lot about Disney food. This may sound like a super niche, super random menu item to explore, but it just goes to show you that we leave NO stone unturned when it comes to Disney snacks and drinks. Oh, you want to know all about the best places to get water at Disney World? We’ve got you. Want to know where to find the best bread on property? We’ve got a full list! Things are about to become quite interesting around Disney World — and not just because of all of the construction that’ll make the parks look totally different. Magic Kingdom But, Disney just announced that the Virtual Queues for Tiana’s Bayou Adventure at Magic Kingdom and Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind at EPCOT will be going away for good on February 25th, and that’s going to be a game-changer for plenty of reasons — especially since that means there will be no more VQs in Disney World. But, we don’t recommend getting used to that just yet… As of February 25th, 2025, Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind at EPCOT and Tiana’s Bayou Adventure at Magic Kingdom will no longer require guests to use a Virtual Queue in order to ride. Instead, you’ll be able to join the regular standby queue anytime the ride is operating. Both rides have been using a Virtual Queue since they opened, with Cosmic Rewind having the distinction of being the one to use a VQ for the longest amount of time so far in Disney World. Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind And, while this sounds like welcome news (and trust us, we’re excited about it!), it doesn’t come without concerns. For one thing, Cosmic Rewind and Tiana’s Bayou Adventure are both extremely popular rides — with Cosmic Rewind being the most popular ride in EPCOT right now. Being able to hop into the standby line without having to worry about securing a spot in the Virtual Queue will mean a lot more folks have access to these rides at any given time… which means the wait times will likely skyrocket when these changes roll out. Rope-dropping these rides will officially be an option now! Tiana’s Bayou Adventure Plus, we definitely shouldn’t start celebrating the “end of Virtual Queues” in Disney World by any means. Virtual Queues are extremely helpful when it comes to managing demand for new and popular attractions. Any time Disney opens a new ride in recent history, a Virtual Queue is used. And, we don’t know if you’ve heard, but a TON of new rides will be opening up in Disney World over the next several years. Tron Lightcycle / Run Virtual Queue sign The new Tropical Americas-themed Pueblo Esperanza land in Animal Kingdom will feature an Encanto dark ride and an Indiana Jones ride that we’re expecting to use a VQ, along with the Monsters Inc. suspension coaster and revamped Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster at Hollywood Studios. @Disney Disney hasn’t even officially announced which rides will be coming to the new Villains Land in Magic Kingdom just yet, but we do know there will be two major attractions in this area, along with two new rides coming to the Cars area that will be replacing Tom Sawyer Island and the Rivers of America. There’s also a chance Disney could bring Virtual Queues back for when Test Track reopens after its lengthy refurbishment ends later this summer. The new Villains Land coming to Magic Kingdom will feature fan-favorite Disney Villains from popular Walt Disney Animation Studios films and two new attractions. So, while we don’t officially know when we’ll see Virtual Queues come back to Disney World, we’re pretty sure we haven’t seen the end of them yet! In the meantime, we’ll be on the lookout for the latest news from Disney and more. Make sure you stay tuned to the Disney Food Blog so you don’t miss a thing! May is set to mark the beginning of celebrations for a momentous Disneyland anniversary that will likely draw visitors from all over the world to the “Happiest Place on Earth”… and we think it might be a better idea to wait before going! ©Disney Beginning on May 16th, Disneyland will begin celebrating the 70th anniversary of the resort with the Celebrate Happy promotion! According to Disney, the event will feature “new magic that adds even more happiness to some of your favorite attractions, plus special entertainment, colorful décor, food and beverages, the “Celebrate Happy” song, collectible merchandise and more.” However, if you’re planning on joining the celebration, you may be better off waiting until July, especially if you’re a Disney history aficionado. So, why wait until July? Well, as Disney announced in early February, several of the new experiences coming to Disneyland for the celebration won’t be debuting until the park’s literal anniversary on July 17th. The biggest is the long-awaited Walt Disney – A Magical Life. The long-rumored show was confirmed at last year’s D23 Ultimate Fan Event, the show will begin with “a cinematic journey that leads from Walt’s early endeavors to the bright lights of Los Angeles and beyond.” After that, the curtain will rise on a replica of Walt Disney’s office and “through the magic of Audio-Animatronics storytelling that he helped pioneer, Walt will share some heartfelt stories and words of wisdom.” ©Disney The show, which will eventually alternate with the classic Great Moments With Lincoln, was originally supposed to debut in May. However, it’s now scheduled to open on July 17th. However, the show isn’t the only thing coming to the Main Street Opera House on July 17th, as several new exhibits are opening that month. These include an “all-new gallery experience featuring the evolution of Walt Disney’s dream of Disneyland.” The exhibit will feature artifacts, images, art and other times that show Disneyland “before, during, and after Walt’s dream became a reality.” According to the company, “Walt Disney Imagineering and the Walt Disney Archives have curated relics and memorabilia from the very early stages of Disneyland, as well as through the evolution of what Walt’s original park has become today.” Walt’s Apartment via @joshdamaro on Instagram A second new exhibit will focus on the development of animatronic technology. According to Disney, guests will “learn about Walt’s inspiration and see firsthand the inner workings of this technology, and how far Audio-Animatronics figures have advanced through the years.” ©D23 Finally, the Opera House will also feature a selection of artifacts displayed in conjunction with San Francisco’s Walt Disney Family Museum, including a rocking chair, lamp and table from Walt’s Disneyland apartment, as well as a collection of Walt’s awards including his 1955 Emmy award for the Walt Disney’s Disneyland TV show, the Presidential Medal of Freedom he was awarded by President Lyndon Johnson in 1964, and the Walt Disney Commemorative Medal presented to Lillian Disney by President Nixon in 1969. Just down the street from the Opera House, the Main Street Cinema will also debut a new exhibit on July 17th dedicated to the legendary songwriting duo the Sherman Brothers. The highlight of the small exhibition is “a heartwarming three-and-a-half minute film called “The Last Verse,” which celebrates the timeless connection and hope behind the Sherman brothers’ iconic song, “It’s a Small World.” The Sherman Brothers As if that wasn’t enough, said film will feature a NEW verse for the song, written by the late Richard M. Sherman as his final contribution to the Disney canon. Furthermore, this verse will be added to the ‘it’s a small world’ attraction beginning on July 17th! “it’s a small world” in Disneyland Thanks to all of these July debuts, it just may make sense to skip over the May launch of the 70th anniversary festivities and target a summer visit instead! You’re going to have to excuse us for a hot second because we’re currently researching trips to France, well, Disneyland Paris, that is. Disneyland Paris You see, Disneyland Paris is currently undergoing a massive transformation, with Walt Disney Studios Park being transformed into Disney Adventure Land. The land is getting a new entrance, a Lion King-inspired land, a Frozen-themed land, and a ton of other new updates. However, a new restaurant is coming to Disneyland Paris, which is what we’re most excited about, and it’s by a Michelin-starred chef! The restaurant is La Forêt Secrète par Jean Imbert and we now know when it’s opening: March 7th. Imbert, a world-renowned French chef, will be opening La Forêt Secrète par Jean Imbert in the Disneyland Hotel in Disneyland Paris on March 7th — and we NEED to go there. It turns out that Imbert is a huge Disney fan and has worked with Disney to create a culinary experience inspired by Disney’s animated movies “in a magical setting.” ©Disney In 2021, Imbert has been the lead chef at the Plaza Athénée in Paris, where he won his first star for Jean Imbert au Plaza Athénée just nine weeks after opening. Okay, that’s impressive. In 2022, he became the first chef of the Christian Dior boutique in Paris and then went on to become the Chef of the Venice Simplon-Orient-Express later in 2022 and the Le Brando hotel in French Polynesia in 2023. So let’s just say, he knows his stuff. ©Disney He also co-created the ToShare concept, which he developed with Pharrell Williams. He’s been voted as Chef of the Year by Quotidien Magazine and then Man of the Year by GQ Magazine. Oh, and Vanity Fair named him as one of the 50 most influential people IN THE WORLD. He also won France’s Top Chef in 2012. At this point, we don’t even need to see a menu to want to grab a reservation at La Forêt Secrète par Jean Imbert, which is good because Disney has not yet released a menu. Reservations are NOW open, though, and we can imagine that they’ll be pretty hard to come by. But it’s worth a try, right? Stay tuned to DFB for more. How Many Disney Parks Are There in the World? When you travel to any theme park, there are rules that need to be followed to keep everyone safe. Animal Kingdom Disney World is no different! However, since Disney has a variety of different experiences that other smaller theme parks don’t have, that means there are more rules to follow. If you’re heading to Disney World for the first time in 2025 or you haven’t been in a while, these are three rules you have to know Disney is REALLY enforcing right now. Hotel Cancelation Policy Starting this year, 2o25, Disney World’s hotel cancelation policy is different than it has been before. Now, if you cancel your hotel stay up to 8 days (or more) in advance of your stay, you won’t be penalized in any way. However, if you cancel 0-7 days before your trip, you’ll be charged your deposit (which is the cost of a one night stay at the hotel) and have no way to get it back. Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort Island Tower For some hotels, that’s around $150-$200, but for some others, it can be as high as $600-$700 depending on where you’re staying! Prior to this change, hotel stays could be canceled 5 days in advance with no penalty, so now things are a bit more strict. And if you’ve got a Disney World package, meaning your tickets and hotel reservation are packaged together, you can cancel 30 days in advance with no penalty, but canceling 2-29 days ahead of time, you’ll be charged $200. If you cancel 48 hours or less before your trip…you won’t get a refund on ANYTHING and will be charged your full package. Disney’s BoardWalk Inn If you’re concerned something might happen to your trip close to your arrival date, we do recommend getting travel insurance to help protect you from these unfortunate situations happening. Dining Reservation Cancelations Disney has changed their table service dining cancelation policy multiple times over the past few years, so if you haven’t ever been, or haven’t been in a while, things have likely changed. The rule of thumb for most table service restaurants is that your dining reservation can be canceled up to 2 hours in advance with no charge or penalty. If it’s sooner than 2 hours, you’ll be charged $10 per person — the same charge applies if you don’t show up to your reservation. Hoop-Dee-Doo Musical Revue However, for the following restaurants, modifications to your dining time are not allowed once booked, and there’s a different penalty if you’re looking to cancel. Cinderella’s Royal Table: Cancel at least two hours in advance to avoid being charged the full cost of the experience per person Hoop-Dee-Doo Musical Revue: Cancel at least one day in advance to avoid being charged the full cost of the experience per person Sangria University: Cancel at least one day in advance to avoid being charged the full cost of the experience per person La Cava Experience: Cancel at least one day in advance to avoid being charged $50 per person Monsieur Paul: Cancel at least three days in advance to avoid being charged $100 per person Victoria & Albert’s: Cancel at least five days in advance to avoid being charged $100 per person Takumi-Tei: Cancel at least two days in advance to avoid being charged $100 per person Magic Kingdom Dessert Parties: Cancel at least one day in advance to avoid being charged the full cost of the experience per person Rose & Crown Fireworks Dining Package: Cancel at least one day in advance to avoid being charged the full cost of the experience per person Spice Road Table Fireworks Dining Package: Cancel at least one day in advance to avoid being charged the full cost of the experience per person Entering Cinderella’s Royal Table If you’re on your way to the restaurant but are running behind, we recommend calling the restaurant as soon as possible to let them know you’re on your way! Luggage Isn’t Allowed on Disney Buses We desperately miss Disney’s Magical Express service, which would take you from the Orlando International Airport to your Disney World hotel for free, but now we have Mears Connect, which is a similar service, but isn’t free anymore. However, there is also a $2 bus option via the Lynx 311 route that will take you from MCO to Disney Springs and vice versa. Lynx 311 Airport pick-up/drop-off point While you can take buses from Disney Springs to your Disney hotel, you technically aren’t allowed to bring your luggage onto the Disney buses. So that means instead of being able to take free Disney World transportation, you may have to take an Uber or Lyft (or Minnie Van) to get to your hotel, which might end up costing you more than Mears Connect would have, BUT it will be cheaper than taking a rideshare to your Disney hotel from the airport! Drinking Around the World at EPCOT certainly isn’t new, but it has definitely surged in popularity in recent years. But, how can you be sure you’re getting the best bang for your buck when it comes to the booze? Luckily for you, I happen to be a pro at doing Disney World on the cheap and also at drinking (for legal reasons, that’s a joke). Drinking Around the World at EPCOT can definitely add up quickly, so if you want to make sure you’re getting your money’s worth — here’s what to do. Listen, I love a Disney World cocktail as much as the next person, but let’s get one thing straight: those pre-mixed cocktails you ordered off the menu just don’t cut it when you’re looking to get the most for your money. But first, let me just say that you definitely DON’T want to be one of “those people” in EPCOT. You know, the ones who have had a liiiiiittle (or a lot) too much to drink and are making it everybody’s business? Yeah, we’re not doing that. La Cava Avocado Margarita What we ARE doing is drinking plenty of water and PACING OURSELVES so that we actually can Drink Around the World and don’t end up lost in the sauce in the Morocco Fez House (IYKYK). A cup of water for every drink is typically my rule of thumb, but on especially hot days drinking water is even more important. What’s better than a Mickey pretzel and beer? What you ultimately need to know, though, is that in order to get the most bang for your buck when drinking around the world — stick to beer, wine, and mixed drinks that are actually being made in front of you (meaning not the standard Disney ones that come out of a dispenser). Rosé Pétillant Méthode Traditionelle Champenoise, Rosé Sparkling Wine Pink Flamingo Don’t get me wrong, an Avocado Margarita at La Cava del Tequila hates to see me coming, but when it comes to getting the most value — or actually being able to keep track of the alcohol by volume in any given drink and therefore getting a good deal — I’m sticking with beer, wine, or liquor at any of the pavilions where that’s an option. Tequila shots in Mexico? Perfect. Some chocolate Mozart in Germany? Into it. La Cava tequila shot More often than not, cocktails are going to be the more expensive option rather than beer or wine, but in most cases, you’re getting far less alcohol in that mixed drink than you would be if you were to stick to a good ol’ IPA or glass of Cabernet — making the beer and wine the better value overall. Of course, we’re not here to yuck anyone else’s yum — you want that cocktail? GO FOR IT! They’re delicious and I’ll join you for a drink sometime. But, from a sheer money-saving standpoint, drinking beer or wine is far more effective! EPCOT’s World Showcase In the meantime, we’ll be on the lookout for the latest updates from Disney World. We FINALLY know what is replacing the former NBA Experience at Disney Springs! Well, we think we know, anyway. Previously the NBA Experience LEVEL99, an interactive, social entertainment experience known for its challenge rooms will open its first-ever Florida location in Disney Springs! This new addition will mark LEVEL99’s fifth location — a first-of-its-kind (okay, fifth) destination for real-world, challenge-based, social entertainment for adults featuring over 50 physical and mental challenges set in artistic environments. It’s essentially a giant, futuristic arcade and entertainment center. ©LEVEL99 Disney reportedly selected LEVEL99 after “a comprehensive review of the location-based entertainment industry.” “We are defining the category and setting the standard for out-of-home, interactive entertainment,” said LEVEL99 CEO and Founder Matthew DuPlessie, who leads the team behind LEVEL99. “After spending two decades in the location-based entertainment industry, it became clear there was consumer demand for a concept like this – a real unmet need. Our vision is to make ‘challenge rooms’ a mainstream concept, and the opportunity to open at a marquee location like Disney Springs is the next step in our plans to expand the LEVEL99 brand nationally.” ©LEVEL99 DuPlessie launched the first escape room style concept in the world back in 2004, and later opened the first LEVEL99 location in 2021. The company’s proprietary entertainment offerings “are developed in the company’s game design studio where creators and engineers dream up and produce a variety of new challenges every year to keep the experience fresh and ever changing.” The Disney Springs location will be the largest LEVEL99 to date with over 60 challenge rooms and duels. It will occupy over 45,000 square feet in a two-story space (which we’re assuming is the former NBA Experience) and will feature dining with a chef-crafted menu — including LEVEL99’s award-winning, Detroit-style pizza. ©LEVEL99 A Fictitious Name filing was published in the Orlando Sentinel on February 19th, listing “Level99” as the registered name for Open World Entertainment LLC, operating at 1486 East Buena Vista Drive, Lake Buena Vista, FL 32830 — which would match up with the NBA Experience location. We can’t wait to learn more and experience it for ourselves! In the meantime, we’ll be on the lookout for the latest news from Disney World. If this latest update from Universal’s Epic Universe doesn’t get you hyped, we’re not sure we can help you! ©WESH Ever since news broke of Universal’s newest Orlando park and all of its themed worlds (and its delicious-looking eats) coming in 2025 we’ve been very busy gathering any and all updates as they’ve come. We’ve scoped out the newest updates to construction on the park and have already stayed in one of the newest Universal hotels to put us as close to the action as possible! However, Universal recently flexed a bit of the new technology we can expect to find within one of the immersive worlds and it has us screaming in an ear-deafening tone! Not just any dragon though, a baby dragon, at that! WESH captured footage of Dart the Dragon testing with Universal Team Members and performing a few basic “commands” as we’ll call them! He’s able to stand on all fours… ©WESH …move his head with facial expression including blinking… ©WESH …trot around in circles… ©WESH …and is even MOBILE! Look at that good dragon sitting. The best part of what we noticed about this testing with Dart is there are no wires surrounding him. ©WESH During this testing, a Team Member seemed to be acting towards a group gathered and Dart’s movements seemed to be acting in tandem response to what the Team Member was doing. Could we see an impromptu show out on the streets with these dragons? We’ll find out soon! ©WESH You’ll find Dart and a few other dragons roaming the Isle of Berk when Epic Universe opens and we’re certain that adults and kids alike will be vying for their chance to see these little guys up close soon. If we weren’t already excited for How To Train Your Dragon to finally come in full force to Universal, this is definitely beyond more than we thought possible before now! You’ll find us hanging out with our new dragon friends when Epic Universe opens on May 22nd, 2025. We’re counting down the days together until Epic Universe officially opens! When you go to a theme park like Disney World, you’re likely already expecting there to be rules to follow. EPCOT For example — no running, no horseplay, no vulgar words or disrespect towards other guests or the workers at the park — these are all the rules you expect, but Disney World parks come with a few additional rules that may have you giving them a second glance. EPCOT, in particular, has a few rules you’ll definitely want to know about before you plan to spend a whole day there! Drinking Around The World Has A Specific Start Time Drinking around EPCOT’s World Showcase Pavilion is what brings a lot of people to EPCOT to begin with, and we totally see why! Nowhere else can you visit eleven different countries (essentially) and try dining options specific to each one. However, if you’re planning to go drinking around the world, you need to know you can’t start until 11 AM. La Hacienda de San Angel This is because most EPCOT restaurants and bar/lounge locations in World Showcase don’t open until 11 AM! There are a few exceptions, such as character dining spot Akershus Royal Banquet Hall in Norway, but that’s not where you’d go to drink around the world. So when you’re planning your EPCOT trip, keep this in mind! Prepare For Motion Sickness Double Time While motion sickness can hit different people for different reason, EPCOT is home to two of the attractions that seem to cause motion sickness most commonly in people — Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind and Mission: SPACE. This is especially true for Mission: SPACE, as it’s the only attraction in the entire resort that has bags inside each ride vehicle in case someone gets sick. Mission SPACE That being said, if you’re prone to motion sickness in any way, we strongly suggest staying far AWAY from these rides, or being sure you have your anti-nausea medication to take before or after the attraction. Trust us, you don’t want to feel awful for the entire rest of your park day. If You Want to Ride Cosmic Rewind, You Might Want to Rope Drop There are two ways to ride Cosmic Rewind — you can pay for a Lightning Lane Single Pass, which can get pricey, especially for those with larger families, or, starting February 25th, you can wait in the standby line. (Disney just announced that it is ending the virtual queue for this ride!). Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind So while you may have previously planned to rope drop Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure or Frozen Ever After, we’re guessing you’ll see the shortest lines for Guardians at rope drop. If you’re not into getting up early, try getting in line just before the park closes for the night. You Can’t Bring A Sword In…But You Can Buy One One of Disney World’s rules states that “Firearms, ammunition, knives and weapons of any kind” as well as “Objects or toys that appear to be firearms or weapons” are prohibited from being brought into the parks. However, in EPCOT’s Japan Pavilion, you can visit Mitsukoshi, an iconic store filled with many different kinds of souvenirs similar to those you’d find in Japan. And funny enough, that includes katanas! Katanas in Mitsukoshi If you’d like to purchase a sword and then ship it home nearly immediately to not worry about having to pack it in your checked luggage (you won’t be able to bring it in your carry-on), you can ship it from Mitsukoshi right then and there. However, you are allowed to carry it around with you throughout the rest of the park, but be warned that taking it out and wielding it will likely not be met with a good response from security. However, these swords are relatively dull, so keep that in mind as well. When you’re planning your Disney World trip, you have to figure out a lot of things, including how long you’re staying where you’re staying, what tickets you need, what to pack, what to eat (our FAVORITE decision to make about a Disney World trip), and more. Driving to Disney World However, you’ll also need to figure out how you’re getting to Disney World. Although many visitors fly into Orlando International Airport, many others also drive. If you’re driving to Disney World, we’ve got some great news: Orlando is one of the TOP TEN cities in the U.S. to drive in, according to WalletHub. WalletHub ranked Orlando at #6 in its list of Best & Worst Cities to Drive In. It’s only beat out by Jacksonville, FL; Greensboro, NC; Corpus Christi, TX; Boise, ID; and Raleigh, NC. WalletHub looked at cheap, smooth, and safe driving experiences to make this list, comparing 100 of the largest U.S. cities across 30 indicators of how driver-friendly they were. That includes looking at average gas prices, traffic congestion, and the likelihood of accidents. ©WalletHub According to Chip Lupo, one of WalletHub’s analysts, “Car prices have gone up significantly over the past few years, and gas remains expensive going into the summer travel season. Living in one of the best cities to drive in can make owning and maintaining a car much cheaper. However, costs aren’t the only factors that matter; the best cities for drivers also minimize commute times and traffic congestion, have accident rates well below the national average and keep their roads in good condition.” Driving around Disney World Given the cost of airfare continuing to increase, driving could be a viable option for your next Disney World trip and could save you some money, in the end. Of course, you’ll need to figure out your budget and what works for you, but it could be something worth considering if you live close enough to drive or make a road trip to Disney World. Driving to Hollywood Studios If you DO decide to drive to Disney World, you can still use Disney World transportation to get around the resort, so you’ll want to keep that in mind, too. Disney World hotel guests get free overnight parking at the hotel they’re staying at, as well as free parking at the parks. We’ll keep an eye out for more, so stay tuned to DFB for more. Ever since it opened in 2019, the Disney Skyliner has been one of the most popular transportation methods on Walt Disney World property. Disney World’s Skyliner The mass gondola system connected two of Disney World’s theme parks and four of the park’s resorts in an ever-moving transportation loop that allows guests to glide through the air between them. With the system’s popularity and efficiency, it only makes use that many guests want the Skyliner to be expanded beyond its current route. However, that seems unlikely. Currently the Skyliner’s path connects EPCOT (with a terminal at the park’s back International Gateway entrance) and Disney’s Hollywood Studios with four of the property’s resorts: the Riviera Resort, the Caribbean Beach Resort, the Pop Century Resort, and the Art of Animation Resort (the latter two sharing a single station in the middle of the lake between them). As can be seen on the system’s map, all of these locations are relatively in line with each other, and close by. This brings us to the first issue with connecting the Skyliner to say, Animal Kingdom or the Magic Kingdom. ©Disney Animal Kingdom is far from the current Skyliner route on the western portion of Disney World’s property, with the All-Star Resorts, Coronado Springs Resort, and Blizzard Beach in between the park and the core of the Skyliner’s route. It would be a large and immensely costly project to weave a Skyliner expansion through these properties to reach Animal Kingdom. The case is similar when it comes to Magic Kingdom. While the park and its resort area at the northern end of the property are more of a “straight shot” from EPCOT, it would still take a massive amount of construction to weave the line through the various properties that sit between the two parks. In addition, the Magic Kingdom resort area is also connected to EPCOT (and interconnected) by the Walt Disney World Monorail, the track of which any potential Skyliner expansion would need to maneuver around. Skyliner Speaking of the Monorail, we can look towards that method of transportation as “proof” that the Skyliner will never be expanded. The Monorail line, while popular amongst guests, has not been expanded since EPCOT opened in 1982, for many of the same infrastructure and cost reasons that will likely hamper Skyliner expansion. In addition to these cost reasons, there’s another practical hurdle in the way of further Skyliner expansion: Weather. As popular and well-received as the gondola system is, weather-related closures have been the one Achilles’ heel that has worked against it since it opened. It seems unlikely that Disney would invest the massive required capital in an expansion to Animal Kingdom and/or Magic Kingdom for a system that often needs to be shut down due to weather that’s relatively common in Florida. Skyliner Despite the popularity and success of Disney’s Skyliner system, it seems unlikely to us that the route will be expanded to the resort’s other theme parks for several major reasons.
