  1. When you go to Disney World, we’re sure you’re making plans for your visit to the theme parks (and maybe even the water parks, too, since that IS a Disney World hotel perk now). You might not even be THINKING about the things you can do at your hotel, though. The Chuck Wagon See, here’s the deal: Disney World hotels have activities of their own, and some of them are SO worth your time. One of those activities involves making S’mores — and nearly every hotel offers this, but we just got the S’mores Kit at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort and Campground from The Chuck Wagon, and it’s the only way we want to end our Disney World evenings from now on. So the campfire at Fort Wilderness was getting ready to start, and so, we HAD to grab the S’mores Kit for $9.99, which gives you everything you need for s’mores PLUS two roasting sticks. If you’re with a large group of people and everyone wants their own stick, you can purchase them separately for 63 cents each. Everything you need This is such a good deal because you get a TON of marshmallows, plenty of graham crackers, and two full-size chocolate bars. So there are plenty of ingredients here for a group of people. It’s also just fun. Who doesn’t love roasting marshmallows by a campfire? What you get Yes, other resorts offer complimentary marshmallows (just one, though), so we have to note that Fort Wilderness does not. However, with this purchase, you get to roast your marshmallows, make s’mores, and even attend the Chip ‘n’ Dale’s Campfire Sing-A-Long later in the evening. SO MUCH FUN. Overall, the experience is…well…magical. Roasting marshmallows Don’t want to go through all of the stress of booking your Disney World trip alone? Reach out to our friends at Small World Vacations! 2. There are two water parks in Disney World, and they’re VERY different. Typhoon Lagoon Water Park They’ve got different themes, different rides, different eats, and sometimes they’ve even been open on different schedules. But if you’re only coming to Disney World for a few days and you have to pick one park to go to, which should you choose? We’re breaking down Blizzard Beach and Typhoon Lagoon so you know exactly where you should spend your time! Theming Blizzard Beach Water Park To start this showdown, let’s cover the theming and backstory of each of the water parks! Blizzard Beach tells the fictional story of when a freak snowstorm traveled through Florida back in the 70s, which led to the construction of the state’s first ski resort. Blizzard Beach Well, as you might guess, the snow didn’t last long in that Florida heat! However, the melting water running down the ski slopes made for great water slides, and the water park was born. Thus, you’ll find that the whole park is winter-themed with faux melted snow and details like ski equipment hanging around the property. How fun! Typhoon Lagoon Water Park Disney’s backstory for Typhoon Lagoon goes like this: “A furious storm once roared ‘cross the sea, catching ships in its path, helpless to flee. Instead of a certain and watery doom, the winds swept them here to Typhoon Lagoon.” Typhoon Lagoon This storm wreaked havoc on a former tropical paradise, flinging ships, fishing gear, and even surfboards all around the area. The Typhoon Tilly ship was even impaled on top of Mount Mayday, and it has now become the centerpiece of the water park. What a disaster! Attractions Blizzard Beach Water Park At Blizzard Beach, there are 12 different attractions you can check out during your day. They are as follows: Chair Lift — Takes riders on a scenic journey to the top of Mount Gushmore. 32″ height requirement. Cross Country Creek — A 3000-ft long lazy river through a “polar paradise.” No height requirement. Downhill Double Dipper — Side-by-side slides where you can race against your friends and family. 48″ height requirement. Melt-Away Bay — A heated, 1-acre wave pool where you can swim or float in a tube. No height requirement. Melt-Away Bay Runoff Rapids — A group of 3 different inner tube water slides. No height requirement. Ski Patrol Training Camp — A “camp” area with various water activities and obstacles designed for kids and tweens. No height requirement. Slush Gusher — A 90-ft high-speed water slide down the side of Mount Gushmore. 48″ height requirement. Snow Stormers — A group of 3 water slides with toboggan-style mats. No height requirement. Summit Plummet — The biggest water slide in the park with a near-vertical, 12-story drop. 48″ height requirement. Summit Plummet at Blizzard Beach Teamboat Springs — A 1200-ft waterslide white water raft adventure, with tube room for up to 5 people. No height requirement. Tike’s Peak — A Frozen-themed play area for little ones with small water slides and wading spaces. 48″ height MAXIMUM. Toboggan Racers — An 8-lane downhill slalom waterslide. No height requirement. Blizzard Beach That’s everything in Blizzard Beach — there’s quite a bit for the whole family. Typhoon Lagoon Water Park Ready for the full list of attractions at Typhoon Lagoon? This park is home to 11 attractions: Bay Slides — Child-sized twin body slides. 60″ height MAXIMUM. Castaway Creek — A scenic lazy river that flows around the whole park. No height requirement. Crush ‘n’ Gusher — A 400-ft long tube slide that provides a coaster-like raft ride. 48″ height requirement. Gangplank Falls — A 300-ft waterslide ride through the mountain on an oversized inner tube. No height requirement. Castaway Creek Humunga Kowabunga — 3 side-by-side enclosed body slides that plummet down Mount Mayday for a near-vertical drop. 48″ height requirement. Keelhaul Falls — A single-person whitewater rapids tube ride down Mount Mayday. No height requirement. Ketchakiddee Creek — Water play area with elements designed for small children. 48″ height MAXIMUM. Surf Pool at Typhoon Lagoon Mayday Falls — The highest and longest water slide in the park — ridden with a single-rider tube. No height requirement. Miss Adventure Falls — A 4-person white water raft voyage surrounded by park backstory and artifacts. No height requirement. Storm Slides — A series of 3 different body slides. No height requirement. Typhoon Lagoon Surf Pool — A wave pool with occasional 6-foot-tall waves. No height requirement. Signage Hope you’re prepared to get wet on these attractions! Dining Blizzard Beach Water Park When it comes to eats, there are 9 different dining options at Blizzard Beach. Starting the list are two different snowmobile-themed spots. Arctic Expeditions is a specialty bar with craft beer, specialty churros, roasted nuts, and other snacks. I.C. Expeditions is your go-to spot for frozen treats, from cones to sundaes to floats. I.C. Expeditions Near those spots, you’ll also find Avalunch, which serves specialty hot dogs, draft beer, and soft drinks. For a full bar experience, you’ll want to head over to the Polar Pub, where they serve cocktails, frozen drinks, and draft beer. Polar Pub The Cooling Hut is home to basic Disney snacks like popcorn, Mickey bars, and Mickey pretzels. Its counterpart, The Warming Hut, is a great spot for more substantial eats like nachos, sandwiches, Dole Whip, and more. The Warming Hut Other places where you can find beverages include Frostbite Freddy’s Frozen Freshments (another bar-type situation) and Joffrey’s Mini Donuts, which has a variety of Joffrey’s beverages as well as (you guessed it!) mini donuts in a few different flavors. Mini Donuts Finally, the big quick service option at Blizzard Beach is Lottawatta Lodge. This is where you’ll go for the largest menu — everything from burgers to pizza to nachos to rice bowls. White Cap Flatbread Menus change pretty frequently at the water parks (we’ve seen several overhauls in the past few years) so items may vary during your visit. Typhoon Lagoon Water Park Typhoon Lagoon is home to 7 different dining locations with a variety of menu items. For that ice cream craving, you’ll want to hit up Happy Landings Ice Cream. Here they have floats, soft serve, and of course, the famous Sand Pail Sundae. Pineapple Upside-Down Cake Treat Nearby at Leaning Palms, you can get a large variety of quick service eats. They serve rice bowls, flatbreads, burgers, nachos, salads, and more. Typhoon Tilly’s is also a good stop for more substantial fare. It offers salads, fish platters, sandwiches, and chicken strips. Leaning Palms For drinks, you may want to visit Let’s Go Slurpin’, which is your more traditional bar, or Lowtide Lou’s, which is home to drinks and a few basic snacks. Let’s Go Slurpin’ The Snack Shack is your stop for fun specialty drinks and Dole Whip. They even have boba tea on the menu! And if you just want a basic hot dog or Mickey pretzel with your beer? Head over to Surf Doggies. Snack Shack Sounds like some yummy snacks are available! Family Offerings When it comes to families, both parks have something to offer you and your little ones. Both places have kids-only areas, wave pools, lazy rivers, and family raft slides. So you can definitely all spend quality time together! Blizzard Beach However, Blizzard Beach seems to have a bit of the edge here. Ski Patrol Training Camp is a really unique area that doesn’t have a Typhoon Lagoon equivalent for kids and teens. And even though Typhoon Lagoon has fewer attractions with height requirements than Blizzard Beach, it seems as though more of Blizzard Beach’s offerings are designed for you and your family and friends to spend time together. Thrill Factor Now, the thrill factor of the parks depends a bit on your personal preference. If you’re looking for big drops, body slides, and major heights, then Blizzard Beach is your best bet. Typhoon Lagoon However, if you find your thrills from fast rapids, single-person tube slides, and big waves, then you’re going to probably enjoy the attractions more at Typhoon Lagoon. Both parks have body slides, tube slides, and a few offerings with big drops or sharp angles. You certainly won’t miss out on thrills at either location! Special Offerings Blizzard Beach Water Park One thing that Blizzard Beach offers that Typhoon Lagoon does not is the Chair Lift, which can be a huge perk if you don’t want to climb all the stairs to the top of Mount Gushmore. Because seriously, who wants to climb stairs when you’re dripping in a swimsuit?! Blizzard Beach Also, the Tike’s Peak play area was renovated a few years ago to feature some of your favorite friends from Frozen, so that could be a huge perk for your kiddos. Outside of that retheme, you don’t see a lot of Disney characters and theming in the water parks. Typhoon Lagoon Water Park At Typhoon Lagoon, one of the standout offerings is the wave pool. Instead of a traditional wave pool, it’s a SURF pool, which means that it gets waves of up to 6 feet tall. Disney even sometimes offers specialty surf lessons in this pool, which are an add-on offering that you have to book separately. Typhoon Lagoon And of course, we have to mention the little-known and supremely underrated H2O Glow Nights event at Typhoon Lagoon! This After Hours extra-ticket event typically runs on select nights during the summer. This event features glow-in-the-dark fun with shorter wait times for the park’s waterslides, a DJ dance party, exclusive menu items, Disney character appearances, and more. H2O Glow After Hours And, much like the After Hours events in the other parks, you’ll receive complimentary snacks such as ice cream treats, popcorn, and fountain drinks throughout the evening at H2O Glow Nights. That’s a great perk! So Which One Should You Choose? Well, now that we’ve broken it all down…which should you choose? If you’re traveling with your family with little children or kids who aren’t yet into all the slides, you might want to go for Blizzard Beach. It has more to offer outside of just the slide/rapids attractions and seems to be a better fit for families overall. Blizzard Beach parking lot For groups with members who are a little bit older (think teen and up), Typhoon Lagoon may be more your speed. There are several single-person attractions here, and even the group raft rides offer some thrill. Add in that surf pool, and you’ll all be having a heart-racing day! Both parks have incredible themes, though one might personally appeal to you more then the other — go with your gut! Also, the food is pretty comparable between the two parks. Several snacks are available at both places and many of the quick service eats are similar. Typhoon Lagoon eats One other thing you need to know about traveling to the parks is that neither location has transportation directly from your Disney World hotel. For Typhoon Lagoon, you’ll need to transfer buses at Disney Springs, and for Blizzard Beach, you’ll transfer buses at Animal Kingdom. If you’d like to drive, both water parks have parking lots. Bus schedule So no matter which water park you choose for your next Disney World trip, you’re probably going to have a great (and very wet!) time. 3. Epic Universe is SO close to opening; we can taste it! Well, actually, we were recently lucky enough to visit Epic Universe and see all the lands and ride some rides ahead of its opening. Harry Potter and the Battle at the Ministry Now, one ride in particular, Harry Potter and the Battle at the Ministry, left our jaw on the floor, and we’re pretty sure it’s going to be the most popular ride in the whole park — it even has a queue that can hold up to several hours’ worth of guests. Well, a 10-hour wait for a ride is impossible for a lot of folks, so will there be a solution? During a recent visit to the park, we noticed that a virtual queue has been put in place during Team Member previews, so most visitors won’t have to stand in line for hours to get a ride on the new attraction during this soft-opening phase. During Team Member previews on April 13th, Harry Potter and the Battle at the Ministry was using a virtual queue system rather than a standby ride line. Here’s how it works: once you’re logged into the app, you’ll have to make sure your park tickets (or, in this case, preview tickets) are linked for everyone in your party. Then you can find the ride and choose a return time. Times are currently available for 12 PM, 3 PM, and 6 PM. Virtual queue sign in Epic Universe With that said, Universal has not confirmed if the virtual queue system will stick around when the park actually opens, although it might make things a little easier for guests. If you will be visiting Epic Universe after its opening day (May 22nd), you’ll probably want to head to Harry Potter and the Battle at the Ministry first, just in case, if that ride is a priority for you. Harry Potter and the Battle at the Ministry Right now, this is the only ride in Epic Universe that is using a virtual queue. We also spotted a “single rider” sign at the attraction, which could mean Universal has plans to make the ride more easily available. Single Rider Line We’ll keep an eye on the virtual queue situation and keep you updated, so stay tuned to DFB for more. 6. Getting sick at Disney World is a very real possibility — and absolutely no one wants to spend their park day sniffling through Space Mountain or crashing early with a fever. Magic Kingdom Between the crowds, the germs, and the Florida heat, there’s a lot working against your immune system when you visit the Most Magical Place on Earth. So today, we’re laying down the eight rules we personally follow to avoid getting sick at Disney World. A few of these might seem over-the-top… until they save your trip. Let’s get into it. DISCLOSURE: This post may contain affiliate links, meaning when you click the links and make a purchase, we receive a commission. Wear a mask in the airport and on the plane. Yup, we’re starting here. It might be controversial, but we still mask up when flying — especially before a Disney trip. ©istockphoto.com That recycled plane air is not doing your immune system any favors, and catching something 24 hours before your Magic Kingdom day is peak frustration. A mask helps you dodge whatever germs are floating around your row. Hand sanitizer. Every time. Everywhere. Touch a ride lap bar? Sanitize. Held a menu? Sanitize. Helped your kid tie their shoe after they crawled on the hub grass? Sanitize. ©Amazon Disney is a germ fest. Kids are licking railings. People are sneezing into their hands and grabbing ride handles right after. We carry sanitizer in every bag and use it constantly. And if you’ve got little ones — please, please don’t let them get their mouths on the handrails. We’ve seen it. We’re haunted. View on Amazon Sanitizing wipes are your new best friend. When you get to your hotel room, wipe down everything: door handles, the TV remote, bathroom counters — all of it. At quick service restaurants, we wipe the tables before eating, too. ©Amazon Sure, Disney does a great job cleaning, but with the sheer number of people moving through each room and restaurant, it’s just not enough to keep everything totally germ-free. View on Amazon Wash your hands like you’re about to perform surgery. Soap. Warm water. 20 seconds. Get under the nails. Restrooms Hand sanitizer is great in the parks, but it’s no replacement for actually washing your hands. Make it a habit to wash thoroughly before meals, after bathroom breaks, and when you get back to your hotel. It makes a huge difference. Stay hydrated — seriously. Florida heat is no joke, and dehydration can sneak up on you fast. It’s one of the quickest ways to feel sick and sluggish at Disney. Don’t forget your water bottle! Bring a refillable water bottle, and throw in some Liquid I.V. or another electrolyte booster. ©Amazon We do this daily when we’re in the parks, and it’s a game changer. Staying hydrated also helps your body fight off illness. View on Amazon Load up on immunity boosters BEFORE your trip. Don’t wait until you’re already run down to start popping vitamin C. In the week leading up to your trip, start taking something like Emergen-C or Airborne daily. ©Amazon We love the water mix-in packets, but the new gummies are pretty convenient too. The goal here is to get your immune system firing before you’re exposed to all the Disney germs. View on Amazon Motion sickness is real — pack for it. Some of those rides hit harder than you’d expect. If you’re prone to motion sickness (or even if you’re not usually, but want to be safe), bring along Dramamine or a Sea-Band wristband. ©Amazon They’ve saved more than a few of our team members from losing their lunch after Mission: SPACE or a bumpy bus ride. View on Amazon Avoid people before your trip if you can. This one’s a little antisocial, but we stand by it. If you’ve got a big trip coming up, maybe don’t attend that massive birthday party or crowded concert right before. The fewer germs you’re around in the days leading up to your vacation, the better your odds of staying healthy. We’ve definitely pulled the “sorry, I’m in pre-Disney lockdown” card more than once. Crowds So yeah — it’s a lot, but it’s worth it. No one wants to be sick in line for Flight of Passage or crash mid-day because you didn’t drink enough water. Follow these rules, and you’re giving yourself a way better shot at staying healthy from arrival to that last Mickey waffle. In the meantime, stay tuned to DFB for all the latest from Disney. 5 Unspoken Rules for Character Dining in Disney World Join the DFB Newsletter to get all the breaking news right in your inbox! 7. Are you keeping up with all the Disney changes? Disney World Disneyland is turning 70, Disney World has major expansions coming, Disneyland Paris is rebranding, and more! To keep up with the news, we’re doing a round-up of the biggest Disney updates from this week. Disney World is always changing, even in little subtle ways! This week, however, wasn’t so little! There are major changes coming to the Disney resorts, and we’re breaking it all down right here. Starting with one of Disney’s most popular and sought-after hotels, The Grand Floridian is about to get some major upgrades. Grand Floridian Resort Disney’s iconic Grand Floridian Lobby is getting a makeover! Disney will be refreshing the lobby, staircase, and front desk and introducing a brand-new lobby bar. The lobby will feature brand-new carpeting with Victorian-inspired borders and scrollwork, “featuring hand-drawn florals inspired by turn-of-the-century botanical studies.” ©Disney The lobby has seen quite a bit of construction over the last few years, although we weren’t sure at the time what it was for outside of regular updates. The lobby will also be getting new furniture with botanical accents and inviting colors “to create an airy, garden-like atmosphere. ” Construction from 2023 To see more about the new lobby and bar, you can read our post below! Work on the lobby is expected to start this month and go through November 2025. A NEW Bar Is Coming to Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort! Unfortunately, this big, exciting news takes us to some less-than-thrilling news. The Grand Floridian’s iconic Christmas Gingerbread House will not be returning in 2025! 2024 Grand Floridian Gingerbread House Disney shared that due to the construction of the new lobby and bar, they won’t be able to construct the famous gingerbread house that has been a tradition at the resort for the last 25 years. This is a major disappointment to many people who consider stopping by to see the craftsmanship and trying the treats a Christmas tradition. Cupcake Sampler from the Gingerbread House in 2023 We hope this tradition will return in 2026 because it will be sorely missed this year. Luckily, the other gingerbread displays that are found at different Disney resorts will be returning. Find out more about the missing Gingerbread House here. Finally, Disney’s Swan and Dolphin Resort is getting in on the news of the week! This one is bittersweet because Shula’s Steakhouse is closing. Shula’s Steak House This Disney World restaurant has been around since 1995 and was widely considered a hidden gem. The restaurant is being replaced by Bourbon Steak by Michael Mina! Chef Mina has received multiple Michelin Stars, and he currently operates over 30 restaurants worldwide. ©The Mina Group Shula’s Steakhouse is accepting reservations through June 14th, 2025. The anticipated debut of Bourbon Steak by Michael Mina is mid-summer. Discover more about the new restaurant here! It was a big week for Disney World resort news, and we couldn’t be more excited about the new changes. As always, don’t forget to keep following DFB for all of your Disney news and updates. 8. Happy Star Wars season! Yes, it’s Season of the Force in Disneyland, and we are celebrating ALL there is to celebrate about that galaxy far, far away. Season of the Force display at Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel We’ve been enjoying this special time in Disneyland, which includes all kinds of fun space-themed snacks. Now, we’ve been trying every Star Wars treat we’ve been able to find (including snacks at Star Wars Nite), but we’ve come across yet another snack…and, y’all, this one sort of blew our minds. It’s the Peka Pretzel at the Tomorrowland Pretzel Cart, and we need to talk about it. The Peka Pretzel is a cream cheese-filled pretzel with Taro sweetened condensed milk topped with chocolate cream cookie crumbles for $8.75. Yes, it’s basically a Cookies and Cream kind of pretzel, and we are here for it. Now, we’ll admit…this pretzel just does NOT photograph well. But don’t let that fool you. This baby is delicious! Peka Pretzel You’ve got a classic soft and gooey Disneyland cream cheese-filled pretzel, which is good on its own, combined with this nice cookie crumble texture with the sweet taste of taro and chocolate. It’s the perfect flavor and texture combination, and we will be getting this again. And again. And again. We’ll be getting it again So, if you’re visiting Disneyland before Season of the Force ends on May 11th, you’ll want to make sure you grab this pretzel! Stay tuned to DFB for more. WE KNOW – there are SO many great snacks at Disney World! How do you choose (we don’t want to choose but will blow our budget on Day 1 otherwise)? We’ve got you covered! 9. It may be spring, but we are more than ready to make a splash over at Disney World’s water parks! With the exciting news that both of Disney’s water parks will be open this summer — for the first time since 2019! — we are fully hyped for all the sun-soaked, splash-filled adventures ahead. Typhoon Lagoon Disney World hotel guests get free admission to Disney World’s water parks on check-in day, and we’ve seen huge crowds at Blizzard Beach because of it! We expect the same all summer at Typhoon Lagoon, so let us put you on to this chill beach bar to escape the crowd with a cold drink. No trip to Typhoon Lagoon is complete without a stop at one of our favorite chill spots: Let’s Go Slurpin’. This laid-back little bar is the perfect place to grab a cool drink and kick back between wave pool sessions. Here’s what we sipped on during our last visit — and what you might want to try on your next water park day (and what you should probably avoid)! First up was the Sunset Margarita for $18. This drink features Teremana Blanco Tequila, Grand Marnier Liqueur, Hella Cocktail Co. Smoked Chili Bitters, Lime, and Agave. Sunset Margarita When we took our first sip of this drink, we had to admit it was TART! We even had to shake our head and gather ourselves for a second due to the shock of it. It honestly wasn’t our favorite, and we couldn’t enjoy any of the ingredients due to how intense the tartness felt. But if you like an electric-like citrus kick to your drink, you might enjoy this one. Our personal favorite was the Rum Runner for $15.25. This drink features Don Q Cristal Rum, Blackberry Brandy, Bols Crème de Banana, and Tropical Juices topped with a float of Plantation Original Dark Rum. Rum Runner This drink gave the tropical fantasy we were hoping for. It had the right amount of sweetness and freshness to it which made it really nice to sip as we enjoyed the beachy setting. This was everything we could want and more. And also, how pretty does it look? 10/10. Typhoon Lagoon Typhoon Lagoon officially opens back up on May 1st and will remain open until September 7th. We can’t wait to go back and enjoy more yummy treats this tropical water park has to offer! Stay tuned to us here on DFB for even more Disney World reviews and updates. 10. Well, there is one trend currently gaining popularity online that we don’t want you to follow! Movie theater A Minecraft Movie is currently in the theaters, and movie-goers are turning it into, well, a madhouse. The chaos in the theaters is caused by one scene in particular: a baby zombie falls on the back of a chicken, creating a “chicken jockey.” This is a rare occurrence in the game and causes fans to go wild with excitement. ©Warner Bros For those of us who aren’t Minecraft experts, the Hollywood Reporter described this scene similarly to when Captain America successfully caught Thor’s hammer in Avengers: Endgame. ©Warner Bros The director of the movie, Jared Hess, also commented on the trend. He said, “It’s weird when you’re having too much fun and the cops get called. It’s funny because I think it’s just literally cheering and throwing popcorn, which is so funny to me that cops are getting called for popcorn. Yeah, it’s hilarious. I’ve seen so many funny videos,” according to Entertainment Weekly. He added, “It’s great, especially when people are climbing on their friends’ shoulders and standing up and cheering for those moments. It’s like this crazy anticipation. But, man, I’m just glad people are making memories with their friends and families.” AMC in Disney Springs The film has been doing incredibly well at the box office, with $185 million domestically and $380 million globally in one week. Recently, guests have been taking their movie experiences to the next level and causing more warnings before movies. AMC Theaters had to issue a statement stating not to sing during Wicked and noted that “silence is golden.” ©Universal When Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour was in theaters, people turned it into full concert experiences, trading bracelets, singing, saying the fan-favorite chants, and bringing glowsticks and light-up wands. ©Disney While we love going to the movies, please be aware of those around you and eat your favorite movie theater popcorn — don’t throw it. 12. Is there anything as magical as getting to watch the fireworks at Magic Kingdom at the end of your day? Fireworks in Magic Kingdom! Well, what would you say to watching them from a private boat while floating on the lagoon with snacks in hand and zero crowds? Yeah, possible, and yes it’s a splurge — but if you’re looking for something extra special (and I mean really special), this might be one of the best-kept Disney World secrets. For $449, you can book a fireworks cruise that gives you front-row views of Magic Kingdom or EPCOT’s nighttime spectaculars—from the water. We recently did one and we’re already thinking about when to book it again. Let’s talk details. So, What Is a Fireworks Cruise at Disney World? It’s exactly what it sounds like. You board a private pontoon boat with your group — up to 10 guests — and cruise around Bay Lake or World Showcase Lagoon before settling in for a jaw-dropping view of the fireworks. You’re not in the parks, but trust me, that doesn’t take anything away from the magic. Pontoon Boat for Fireworks Cruise You can book this through the My Disney Experience app or by calling (407) 939-7529. You’ll want to plan ahead: Bookings open 60 days out and tend to fill up fast, especially around holidays or peak vacation weeks. Oh, and if you’re celebrating something — a birthday, anniversary, whatever — let them know! Your boat can be decked out for the occasion. Pontoon Boat for Fireworks Cruise You get to choose between viewing Happily Ever After at Magic Kingdom or Luminous: The Symphony of Us at EPCOT. Now, we’ve actually done both, and while EPCOT’s show is beautiful, there’s something about seeing the castle glow from the water during Happily Ever After that hits different. What You’re Paying For Yes, it’s $449 (plus tax), but let’s break that down. The boat fits 10 people, so if you’re going with friends or family and splitting the cost, it comes out to about $45 per person. For a private boat, snacks, drinks, and an uninterrupted view of Disney fireworks — honestly, that’s not bad. The snacks Our most recent cruise left from the Contemporary Resort’s Boat Nook Marina. You can also be picked up from a few other deluxe resorts around the Seven Seas Lagoon or Crescent Lake, depending on which show you’re viewing. The Experience You can bring drinks (just no glass), and the cruise includes water, sodas, and pre-packaged snacks — plus a cooler to keep everything chilled. Drinks The boat ride before the fireworks is a whole vibe. You cruise around Bay Lake and the Seven Seas Lagoon, passing by old-school Disney landmarks like the abandoned Discovery Island. If you want, you can even connect your phone and play music via Bluetooth during the ride. On the pontoon boat When it’s showtime, your captain anchors in a perfect viewing spot where you can see the castle and the fireworks. They even pipe in the show’s soundtrack so you get the full experience. And yes — Tinker Bell’s flight is totally visible from the water. It’s magic, plain and simple. Views of Magic Kingdom from the water Depending on timing, you might also catch the Electrical Water Pageant float by — which is one of my favorite nostalgic Disney moments. Let your captain know you’d love to see it, and they’ll do their best to make it happen. Final Thoughts Here’s the thing — Disney is already a splurge. But this feels like one of those experiences that actually gives you something unique. No crowds, no jostling for a fireworks spot, no stress. Just a quiet boat, a drink in hand, and a sky full of magic. Whether you’re celebrating something big or just want to end your trip on a high note, this is one Disney extra you’ll want to keep coming back to. The fireworks! 13. 14. Disney’s Animal Kingdom is such an underrated park. Although part of it is under construction right now as DinoLand, U.S.A. becomes a new land called Pueblo Esperanza, a visit to Animal Kingdom is worth the time during your next Disney trip. Disney’s Animal Kingdom The beauty of Animal Kingdom is that it’s WAY more than just rides. It’s a chance to get up close and personal with the animals that call the park home. And the thing is…new animals join the ranks of Animal Kingdom all the time. Well, we now have to tell you about some newcomers to the park — and trust us, you’re going to love this news because these latest additions are newborns. So, some babies have recently been born in Disney World. The first of these babies are some baby otters, who have officially made their Animal Kingdom debut. Here’s a photo of them with their parents, Kevin and Mae. ©Disney Their names? Butternut, Biscuit, and Potato (WE CAN’T EVEN). They are Asian small-clawed otters, meaning they’re the smallest species of otter. You know us — we love anything miniature here at DFB! ©Disney These babies were born back in December, but they’re now at Otter Grotto waiting to be seen while their parents, teach them how to swim and do otter things. ©Disney These otters aren’t the only babies in Disney World, though. A Rüppell’s griffon vulture has also been born in nearby Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge. Her name is Lyra, and Disney’s animal care experts have been taking good care of her from the moment that she was an egg. Her parents, John and Janet (y’all, these names!), have also been taking good care of her. ©Disney What’s remarkable about little Lyra, though, is that these birds are critically endangered in the wild. So Lyra is somewhat of a miracle! You’ll want to keep an eye out for her and her family the next time you visit Animal Kingdom Lodge. Stay tuned to DFB for more. 15. Snagging dining reservations for your Disney World vacation can be a STRUGGLE. The Cake Bake Shop If you’re using the Disney World website or the My Disney Experience app, you’ll need to book your restaurants 60 days before your trip, and some locations fill up fast. It can be frustrating to plan so far in advance and not be able to snag your preferred spots, so that’s why we’re here to tell you about a very important app! While most restaurants in Disney World can only be booked through My Disney Experience or the Disney World website, some non-Disney-owned restaurants can be booked through other avenues. A great resource for this is the website/app OpenTable! Planet Hollywood spread OpenTable is a popular reservation service for metropolitan areas around the country, and some outside-owned restaurants in Disney World are available to book through the service. We’ve found that occasionally, when these restaurants are out of availability in Disney’s system, they still have time slots open for that very same day on OpenTable. Our whole meal at Paddlefish So which restaurants can you book on OpenTable? First of all, you’ve got the Disney Springs bunch, which includes Summer House on the Lake, Jaleo, City Works, Wolfgang Puck, The Edison, Maria & Enzo’s, Frontera Cocina, Planet Hollywood, Raglan Road, Terralina Crafted Italian, Paddlefish, Wine Bar George, Morimoto Asia, and Rainforest Cafe. Frontera Cocina If you’re heading to the Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin hotels, you can book several spots through OpenTable as well. These include Amare, Il Mulino, and Kimonos. Let’s go to Amare! Outside of those, there are several other assorted restaurants on OpenTable. You’ll find The Cake Bake Shop at the BoardWalk, Rainforest Cafe at Animal Kingdom, as well as dining locations at the Four Seasons Orlando, JW Marriott, and a few of the Disney Springs area hotels’ restaurants. The Cake Bake Shop But not only is OpenTable a great resource for snagging dining reservations, it’s also a great way to get the quick guide to these Disney World restaurants. Each restaurant’s page on OpenTable includes the restaurant’s rating, popular menu items, price range, and details like the hours of operation, the address, and even the dress code. Handy, right?! ©OpenTable So the next time you’re trying to decide where to dine in Disney World and you’re running out of options on My Disney Experience, try downloading OpenTable and checking out what’s available! You may find a new favorite spot. And check out our video below to see the top restaurants in Disney World for 2025! Stay tuned to DFB for more updates on the best ways to dine in Disney World. 16. Y’all. It is HARD being a fan of streaming shows because you just never know what their fate will be and when your show might wind up canceled. ©Apple You really get into a show, and next thing you know, it’s canceled — and you’re often left with a cliffhanger of an ending. We’ve seen it happen with a lot of popular shows, too, leaving many fans scratching their heads and asking, “WHY?” Well, if you’re a fan of Mythic Quest on Apple TV+, you’re going to be asking the same thing because Variety has confirmed the series has been officially axed by the streaming subscription service. Mythic Quest is a comedy that follows the staff of a video game studio that has created a popular MMORPG game. The cast included Rob McElhenney (who also co-created the show), Charlotte Nicdao, Hornsby, Danny Pudi, Ashly Burch, Imani Hakim, Jessie Ennis, and Naomi Ekperigin. The series recently aired its season four finale before Apple TV+ announced its cancelation. ©Apple TV+ HOWEVER, there is some good news. The series will get an updated finale episode with a new ending that will premiere on Apple TV+ next week. Mythic Quest executive producers Megan Ganz, David Hornsby, and Rob McElhenney said: “Endings are hard. But after four incredible seasons, Mythic Quest is coming to a close. We’re so proud of the show and the world we got to build—and deeply grateful to every cast and crew member who poured their heart into it. To all our fans, thank you for playing with us. To our partners at Apple, thank you for believing in the vision from the very beginning. Because endings are hard, with Apple’s blessing we made one final update to our last episode—so we could say goodbye, instead of just game over.” ©Apple TV+ Mythic Quest was one of the first original shows produced by Apple TV+, and since its first episode, it’s been a hit with critics and fans alike. The show’s four seasons currently have a 97% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. Stay tuned to DFB for more. 17. Okay, I’ve got a big beef with Disney World’s Lightning Lane Multi Pass. Lightning Lane Multi Pass pamphlet So here’s the deal…I’ve been going to Disney World for almost 30 years (my first trip was in 1996 during the Birthday Cake Castle debacle — and yes, I was a little upset). I’ve also been going to Disneyland since 2014 (y’all, this is already making me feel old). I love both, although there are some things I think Disney World does better (hello, park security), and I think there are some things Disneyland does better (ALL the characters). But I do have one MASSIVE gripe about Disney World’s Lightning Lane Multi Pass that I need to get off my chest. So Lightning Lane Multi Pass is a service that you pay for each day that lets you skip the standby lines at rides and access the shorter Lightning Lanes. It’s usually a huge time-saver and I generally buy it when I visit both Disney World and Disneyland. But there’s one massive thing I find wrong with Lightning Lane Multi Pass in Disney World. Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway Lightning Lane Okay, so if you buy Lightning Lane Multi Pass in Disneyland, you get unlimited downloads for each day you buy the service of ALL your PhotoPass photos. This includes ride photos, but also any photos you pose for with a Disneyland photographer, including Magic Shots. Immediately, that makes Lightning Lane Multipass worth it in Disneyland and Disney California Adventure, especially considering that you’d otherwise pay $99.99 per day with Disney PhotoPass+, a service that ONLY gets you photos. Disneyland Photopass photographer However, if you pay for Lightning Lane Multi Pass in Disney World, you only get ride photos and videos. You do NOT get any other PhotoPass photos or Magic Shots. Instead, if you want digital downloads of ALL your PhotoPass photos, you’re going to have to pay for them through Memory Maker, which is $185 if you pay in advance of your trip. This is also nonrefundable, so if you end up with a ton of photos you hate, you’re just going to have to live with them. ©Disney This is one thing that Disneyland absolutely does better: You should be able to get all your photos in Disney World, too, if you purchase Lightning Lane Multi Pass. Even if you opt for the more expensive Lightning Lane Premier Pass, you STILL don’t get those photo downloads — and that pass is NOT cheap (anywhere from $129 to $449 per day, depending on the date and park). PhotoPass I get it — the two parks are unique in their own ways and they operate differently. One is a tourist destination, while the other tends to cater to more of a local base. But still, I’d feel a lot better about paying for Lightning Lane Multi Pass in Disney World if I knew I could get all my photos, too. It’s a minor complaint, but Disney World needs to learn to offer more value to those who purchase these extra paid options like Lighting Lane Multi Pass that were once 100% free (I still miss you, FastPass+). Stay tuned to DFB for more. 24. It’s basically Star Wars time of year, and we are SO HERE FOR IT. Yep, a huge celebration of all things Star Wars is happening RIGHT NOW in Disneyland called Season of the Force — and it even includes some new food items. Ewok! But beyond the food, we’ve also just attended the first Star Wars Nite of the year, AND we’re looking forward to May the 4th. Of course, that means that a lot of new Star Wars merchandise is dropping in shops, and we just found some brand NEW Starbucks Discovery Series Star Wars mugs focused on planets that you’ll only find in a galaxy far, far away. The new Star Wars Starbucks Discovery Series mugs have arrived — we found them in Star Trader in Tomorrowland in Disneyland. Several planets are represented, too, including Geonosis. This mug features The Mandalorian, Yoda, Mace Windu, and more. Geonosis There’s also a mug representing Kashyyyk, the home of the Wookiees. So yes, Chewbacca is on this mug, as well as the trees native to the planet, as well as more Wookiees. Kashyyyk Of course, one of the most iconic planets in Star Wars is Tatooine, where a young Luke Skywalker grew up and Ben (formerly Obi-Wan) Kenobi lived as a hermit. So, of course, there’s a Tatooine mug with Luke’s father, Anakin, as a boy, characters from the prequel movies, Jabba the Hutt, a cantina band, and more. Tatooine These mugs are a must for Star Wars fans, and they are quite the collectibles. If you want to get your hands on them, you’ll need to head to Disneyland ASAP. They’re not online yet (believe us, we checked), but if they do drop online, we’ll be sure to let you know. Stay tuned to DFB for more — and May The Force Be With You. 25. An iconic entertainment venue on Disney’s Boardwalk is closing in Disney World soon! You only have ONE week left to grab a few more drinks and sing along to the dueling pianos at Jellyrolls, so make that one week count. Jellyrolls Jellyrolls at Disney’s BoardWalk is officially closing on April 19th, 2025. This entertainment venue has provided our team with countless memories, and we know many others are also sad to see it close. Inside Jellyrolls, you will find two dueling piano players who take requests from the audience. It is an exciting, boisterous atmosphere as the audience sings and dances along to the songs. If you want one last hoorah before Jellyrolls says goodbye to the BoardWalk, this is your last week! Dueling Pianos at Jellyrolls However, this isn’t the end for Jellyrolls, as the bar has said they are “making a move.” We don’t know many details about that move yet, but we will keep you updated. Jellyroll’s final night in Disney World will be a first-come, first-serve final farewell performance. Doors will open at 6 PM, and the dueling pianos will start at 6:15 PM. Admission is $22 per person, and you must be 21 or older to enter. Keep reading below to see what other attractions and locations will be closed this week, April 12th through April 19th! Magic Kingdom Playground at Dumbo the Flying Elephant The indoor children’s playground inside the Dumbo the Flying Elephant queue closed for refurbishment on February 24th, 2025. While the playground is closed, the ride is still open and available for kids of all ages to soar through the sky! Dumbo the Flying Elephant The indoor playground is expected to reopen in Spring 2025. Hall of Presidents The Hall of Presidents closed at Magic Kingdom on January 20th. Hall of Presidents The attraction will be closed until later in 2025, though Disney has not shared a specific date. We will keep an eye out for updates, though! The closure is likely to change the current president, as January 20th marked Inauguration Day. While it is closed, other maintenance and routine work may also be happening. Astro Orbiter If you want to blast off into space, you’ll have to head over to Space Mountain because Astro Orbiter is temporarily closed for refurbishment! Astro Orbiter Astro Orbiter closed as of January 13th and is planned to reopen in the summer of 2025. No specific date has been announced for the high-in-the-sky ride, but we’ll keep our eyes peeled for an update from Disney. The ride has currently been completely dismantled and is being refurbished elsewhere. It definitely looks a little barren as you are walking into Tomorrowland right now! I Paid $480 for a Magic Kingdom Fireworks Cruise, and I Would Do It Again Big Thunder Mountain Railroad On January 6th, Big Thunder Mountain Railroad closed for an extended temporary closure. New track at Big Thunder Mountain The “Wildest Ride in the Wilderness” will be closed for at least a year and will reopen sometime in 2026. The ride will be undergoing maintenance while it is closed. When it reopens, it will have some “new magic,” according to Disney. We can’t wait to see what changes will be coming to this ever-popular roller coaster! Tomorrowland Terrace Tomorrowland Terrace is a quick-service restaurant that has been closed since the 2020 pandemic-related closures, but even before that, this spot was only occasionally open. Tomorrowland Terrace Once in a while, you’ll see the dining room open as a rest area (and it’s still being used for the Magic Kingdom Fireworks Dessert Parties), but it’s usually all roped off and empty. Disney hasn’t announced when this spot could finally reopen, but we’ll be watching for updates. If you’re looking for a nice spot to hang out in Disney World and take a rest, this could be it! Tortuga Tavern Just like Tomorrowland Terrace, Tortuga Tavern is also a seasonal restaurant in Magic Kingdom. It has been a bit since we have seen it open. Most recently, it was used as a cookie location for Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party. Tortuga Tavern We had previously spotted shrubs around the restaurant as they worked on the flooring. However, all the shrubs have been taken down now. We don’t know exactly when/if this restaurant will reopen, but we will keep you updated if we learn more! What I Wish I Knew Before I Visited Magic Kingdom in 2025 EPCOT Test Track Test Track closed on June 17th, 2024 and Disney is giving this ride a BIG makeover! Test Track Disney has shared that the new version of Test Track will take inspiration from the old ride, World of Motion, that was originally there when the park opened in 1982. Disney shared more details at D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Experience, and an updated opening timeline was just announced! We’ll be able to ride Test Track once again in late summer 2025. Restaurant Marrakesh Restaurant Marrakesh is currently closed as a dining location in the Morocco pavilion of EPCOT’s World Showcase, and there’s no word yet on when the restaurant could fully reopen. Restaurant Marrakesh Occasionally, we’ll see it open as a lounge or Kidcot Fun Stop. So, if you’re in the Morocco Pavilion, check it out to see if it’s open. We’re watching for updates on when the full restaurant could reopen! Something NEW Just Arrived at the Germany Pavilion in EPCOT Animal Kingdom It’s Tough to Be a Bug It’s Tough to Be a Bug is officially closed for good. This attraction in Disney’s Animal Kingdom invited you to join the bug kingdom on an adventure. While the show didn’t usually make it to the top of favorite attractions in Disney World, it has now officially closed to make way for a new show. It’s Tough to be a Bug! It’s Tough to Be a Bug closed on March 17th. The show is permanently closed to make way for a brand-new show, “Zootopia: Better Zoogether!” expected to debut in winter 2025. TriceraTop Spin, Chester & Hester’s Dinosaur Treasures, and Fossil Fun Games The first round of closures began in DinoLand U.S.A. on January 13th, 2025. TriceraTop Spin, Chester & Hester’s Dinosaur Treasures, and Fossil Fun Game were closed down, and construction has begun on the brand-new land themed to the Tropical Americas, Pueblo Esperanza. The walls have been up since the closure, and things have been disappearing from behind the walls. Almost everything has been taken down behind the walls, including the large green dinosaur. DinoLand Construction It is definitely a sad sight, but we are also excited to see Pueblo Esperanza! DINOSAUR, Restaurantosaurus, the snack stands, and The Boneyard remain open. Disney hasn’t announced an official closing date for the rest of DinoLand. However, they have announced that “2025 is your year to visit before it goes extinct!” My Very Blunt Reason for Not Riding This Animal Kingdom Ride Disney’s Hollywood Studios Lightning McQueen’s Racing Academy The Cars-themed show featuring Lighting McQueen permanently closed on October 8th, 2024, to make way for a brand-new Villains show. Lightning McQueen’s Racing Academy The Cars show was previously housed in the Sunset Showcase building, but the last day for guests to enjoy it was October 7th. The new Villains show officially has an opening date! The show will debut on May 27th, 2025. We also recently saw that they have begun to dismantle the outdoor exhibits from Lightning McQueen’s Racing Academy. Voyage of the Little Mermaid As well, Voyage of the Little Mermaid is currently closed in Disney World. A bit ago we saw that the iconic Voyage of the Little Mermaid marquee has been removed! So far, it is still missing, but we are curious what, if anything, will take its place. Voyage of the Little Mermaid Disney is going to introduce a new, updated show in this spot, though it will still be themed to the animated movie The Little Mermaid! The new show will be called “The Little Mermaid — A Musical Adventure,” and will be debuting on May 27th, 2025. It will be a “fully reimagined theatrical production inspired by the Walt Disney Animation Studios classic.” “Aisle Lice” Are Causing Chaos in Disney’s Hollywood Studios, and We Need to Talk About It Disney Springs Starbucks on the West Side The Starbucks on the West Side of Disney Springs is temporarily closed for refurbishment. It closed on March 3rd, and it is expected to reopen in mid-summer. Starbucks is undergoing refurbishment Have no fear, though — you can still get your Starbucks fix in Disney Springs! Head over to the Disney Springs Marketplace location, which will be open during the refurbishment. Caffeine headaches are not allowed in Disney Springs! The One Thing a Celebrity Chef Is Begging You to Order in Disney Springs Typhoon Lagoon Blizzard Beach officially welcomed guests back on November 4th, 2024! That same day, Typhoon Lagoon closed its gates for the season. Typhoon Lagoon Typhoon Lagoon will be reopening on May 1st, 2025. When it reopens, Blizzard Beach will be temporarily closing. Disney has been having one water park open at a time seasonally since 2020, but that is changing this year. BOTH Typhoon Lagoon and Blizzard Beach will be open at the same time from May 21st through September 7th, 2025. Click here to learn all about Blizzard Beach! Disney World Hotels Stormalong Bay and Hurricane Hanna’s– Disney’s Yacht and Beach Club Resorts Stormalong Bay is the shared pool between Disney’s Yacht and Beach Club Resorts. It features a beach, a lazy river, a large pool, and an exciting pirate ship slide! When we stopped by recently, we noticed that they were hard at work at Stormalong Bay. Stormalong Bay Construction This pool area will be closed for refurbishment until June. While it’s closed, hotel guests can use the Tidal (Beach Club), Admiral (Yacht Club), and Dunes Cove (Beach Club) leisure pools. During the refurbishment, Hurricane Hanna’s, the pool bar at Stormalong Bay will also be closed. Fantasia Pool — Disney’s All-Star Movies Resort From January 1st through April 30th, the Fantasia Pool at Disney’s All-Star Movies Resort will be closed.
