  1. EPCOT is filled with tons of iconic, classic attractions, but one of them is well-known because the ride is truly like no other (well, besides the one in Disneyland, but we’re talking non-Disney theme parks, specifically). Spaceship Earth Despite being around since 2005, Soarin’ remains quite popular with guests, but there have been a few updates the ride has sorely needed for a while. Well, Disney listened! We’re happy to report that one of those updates is complete, along with an additional one we weren’t expecting! If you’ve ridden Soarin’ any time in the past nearly 20 years (and did not sit in the middle row), you likely noticed that in the Paris scene, the Eiffel Tower curves HEAVILY to the side. If you sit in the middle, you might not notice the lean, but since the screen isn’t totally straight and flat like a normal movie screen, the Eiffel Tower looked more like the Leaning Tower of Pisa for a long time. Soarin’ Around the World However, that’s been fixed! We rode Soarin’ recently and were seated in Section C, Row 1, furthest to one side, and noticed that the Eiffel Tower didn’t lean anymore! No more lean! Also, the final scene surprised us with something new — the footage has been updated to show EPCOT in its current, transformed state. This means that you see the new (although it’s not very new anymore) entryway with the fountain instead of the old nostalgic one. You may also notice the sidewalk is lit up, but currently, that effect seems to be broken. We’re hoping that since the light-up sidewalk is officially part of the ride, Disney will (eventually) fix this. Updated ending scene! Some guests may miss the old ending, as it means we’ll no longer get to see the EPCOT many of us experienced in our childhoods or young adult years, but others who never got to experience the old entrance may find this refreshing. 2. Disney’s Lightning Lane Premier Pass is still brand new, but we’ve already got a LOT to say about this luxury skip-the-line service. Lightning Lane When Disney first debuted the Lightning Lane Premier Pass in October, we saw a lot of mixed reactions. Some people were looking forward to this upgraded way to skip the lines at the theme parks, while others balked at the price. No matter where you stand on the debate, it’s clear there is a market for this kind of pass. Just one month after debuting, the Lightning Lane Premier Pass is SOLD OUT on FIVE days this November. According to the Walt Disney World app, Lightning Lane Premier Passes are SOLD OUT on the following days: Magic Kingdom: November 23rd, 25th, 26th, 27th, 28th Disney’s Hollywood Studios: November 25th, 28th Lightning Lane Premier Pass prices vary based on date and park, but the prices for these sold-out passes range from $309 to $449 per person, with Magic Kingdom reaching $449 and Disney’s Hollywood Studios reaching $349 per person on November 28th (Thanksgiving Day). ©Disney Lightning Lane Premier Pass was originally placed on a pilot program limited to those staying at Disney Deluxe Resort hotels, Disney Deluxe Villa Resorts, and other select hotels. By mid-November, though, Disney updated the rules to allow ANY Disney World hotel guest to purchase the Premier Pass. Seven Dwarfs Mine Train These passes give you one-time entry to each Lightning Lane experience in a theme park. You can NOT use the pass in multiple parks on the same day, and you can only purchase one Premier Pass per day. Disney allows you to purchase the Lightning Lane Premier Passes up to seven days before the first day of your hotel stay, for your entire length of stay (up to 14 days) starting at 7AM Eastern Time. Slinky Dog Dash Remember how we warned you that Thanksgiving is a busy time to visit Disney World? Well, if these sold-out passes are any indication, this year is going to be crowded, too. 3. December is creeping up on us, and that brings new challenges when it comes to navigating Disney World. Mickey in the Christmas parade at Magic Kingdom It’s one of the most beautiful times of the year, that’s for sure, but it’s also one of the most crowded. There’s so much to explore, but SO many people there to check it all out. If you’re heading to Disney World this upcoming month, here are the mistakes you 100% won’t want to make! Not Planning For Those Larger Crowds As we mentioned earlier, Disney World gets BUSY during the month of December with the amount of holiday offerings to experience, not to mention that it’s much cooler than it is during the summer and many families choose to take their vacations in the winter rather than the summer for that reason. Animal Kingdom Christmas tree With that being said, that means that wait times will likely SHOOT up in almost every single park for rides, dining wait times, check out lines in the stores, and everything in between. If you usually have a list of 5 must-dos, maybe knock it down to 3 in preparation for how busy the parks will be. That way you don’t get frustrated when you can’t get to everything you planned! Wait Too Long For A Parade/Show Spot Remember those crowds we talked about? Yeah, that extends to the fireworks, castle shows, parades, and other live entertainment around the parks for the month. While we usually say you can get a spot about 15-30 minutes before with little issue, for this time of year, getting a spot 30 minutes advance is MINIMUM. Olaf in the Christmas Parade! People will claim their fireworks/parade spot over an hour ahead of the event, so if you want to be sure you can get a great spot, you likely will want to do the same. If you’re looking for a mediocre spot, you can walk up 15 minutes before, but just waltzing up and getting an okay spot for the show goes out the window for the majority of this month. Forget To Try The Special Treats Disney World introduces a TON of new holiday-inspired treats in all their parks and many of their hotels, and missing out on these is NOT something you want to do. These are limited time treats that you can likely only get this ONE time of year, and there could be something on there you’d really love, but if you don’t look at the menus, you’ll miss them entirely! The EPCOT tree has arrived! And that’s not even counting the fact that EPCOT’s International Festival of the Holidays begins in EPCOT on November 29th with a whole slew of treats and offerings across their many food booths, so truly, there’s a lot to explore this December in terms of food! Not Realizing Magic Kingdom Closes Early Some Nights With the holiday season comes Disney World’s infamous holiday party, Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party, and while we love the offering when we get to go ourselves, it means that the park closes WAY early on those select nights and doesn’t bode as well for regular guests in the park. Welcome to Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party! This is especially true if these adjusted park hours catch you off guard — there’s nothing worse than arriving to Magic Kingdom for your full park day and realizing that you’ll be asked to leave at 6PM when the park closes to regularly ticketed guests. Not only that, but these parties are sold out by the time they arrive 99% of the time, so families can’t even choose to purchase a ticket to spend more time in the park. That’s why it’s ALWAYS important to look at those park hours ahead of time! Forgetting to Check for EXTENDED Park Hours However, Disney is also known for extended park hours on holiday evenings and those surrounding it only a few weeks before they happen, so if you checked the park hours when you booked your tickets two months ago, you may not realize certain parks are open LATER than they originally were if you don’t check! 5. If you’ve been paying attention to Disney World, there are a whole lot of changes coming to the parks, especially at Disney’s Hollywood Studios! Hollywood Studios Hollywood Studios will be getting a new Villains stage show and a whole Monsters, Inc. Land complete with a first-of-it’s kind roller coaster for Disney World. And we just found out that Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster is getting a retheme. But the thing that has been on our minds lately is The Little Mermaid, specifically the revision to the show that is coming to the park! Now, we’re excited about this new show, but more than that, we’re actually worried. Well, actually beyond worried. Let’s talk about why! As we were saying, we’re big fans of The Little Mermaid, and we had been waiting patiently for years for Disney to tell us they were bringing back the Voyage of the Little Mermaid show from the pandemic closures. Voyage of the Little Mermaid Little did we know what we were in for when Disney surprised us and said they’d actually be bringing us a brand new version of the show which they called “The Little Mermaid — A Musical Adventure.” The Little Mermaid: A Musical Adventure To say we were excited would be a massive understatement. But now, we’re feeling some serious concern about the project. Here’s why. Delayed Like a Mermaid Waiting for their Legs When Disney first announced The Little Mermaid – A Musical Adventure, it was slated to open in Fall 2024. That timeline wasn’t lightning-fast, but we were patient because good things take time, right? Well, fast forward a bit, and Disney announced a delay. Now, the show’s opening was pushed back to Summer 2025. The Little Mermaid: A Musical Adventure Why the holdup? Maybe Disney will be reworking the attraction’s entrance to better flow with the surrounding area and create a more seamless experience for guests. Plus, let’s not forget the other major project that will also be happening in the park: the brand-new Monsters, Inc. land! ©Disney We love Mike, Sulley, and the gang, but we’re wondering if the attention on this much larger expansion could slow down progress on Ariel’s return. And honestly, we’re not sure we can handle another delay. The Big Void Here’s another thing to consider: Hollywood Studios has felt like it’s missing something without The Little Mermaid. This is what I mean — the park has so many action-packed rides (i.e. Rise of the Resistance, Slinky Dog Dash!, Tower of Terror, etc.), but it really benefits from shows that give guests a chance to sit, relax, and enjoy a bit of Disney magic. Slinky Dog Dash For years, Voyage of the Little Mermaid served that purpose. Sure, it was a little dated, but it was a fun and nostalgic nod to the original movie. The kiddos loved the glow-in-the-dark sea creatures, and us adults loved the A/C. All jokes aside, it was a great midday escape from the Florida heat and the crowds. Voyage of the Little Mermaid Without it, the park has felt like it’s been missing a key piece of its lineup. The delay of The Little Mermaid – A Musical Adventure just makes that void feel even bigger. We’re Ready to Be Part of That World At the end of the day, we’re still incredibly excited for The Little Mermaid – A Musical Adventure. Ariel’s story has always been a fan favorite, and we’re thrilled that Disney is giving this attraction a much-needed update. The Little Mermaid: A Musical Adventure That being said, with all the delays, changes, and competing projects, we can’t help but feel a little nervous. Will the show open on time? Will it live up to our expectations (admittedly they’re a bit high)? Only time will tell. 7. OK, Disney fans. We’ve got good news and bad news. Which do ya want first? Disney’s Hollywood Studios If you want the bad news, you can skip to the end. But before you do, we highly encourage you to hear us out first. Disney just dropped some major news about the future of Disney’s Hollywood Studios, and some big areas of the park are going to look different. Here’s what’s changing. OK, let’s rip off the band-aid. After a lot of speculation, our predictions came true. Back in the summer, Disney announced that a new Monsters, Inc. Land is coming to Disney’s Hollywood Studios. At the time, Disney shared two pieces of concept art. Many fans speculated that the first looked a lot like it was located in the Animation Courtyard section of the park, though at the time, Disney did not confirm the location of this addition. A new land themed to Pixar Animation Studios’ “Monsters, Inc.” is coming to Disney’s Hollywood Studios. Taking place after the events of the film, Monstropolis need humans’ laughter to power the city. Guests can even ride on a door like Mike and Sully in the iconic scene from the film with Disney’s first-ever suspended coaster. The second piece of concept art more closely resembled the Grand Avenue section of Disney’s Hollywood Studios, a.k.a. Muppets Courtyard. It was around this time that people started wondering (or worrying) if the Muppets Courtyard would permanently close. ©Disney Well, a few months later, Disney confirmed the news. The Monsters, Inc. Land will take the place of the Muppets Courtyard, closing the restaurants, shops, and attractions in this land. BREAKING: Muppets Courtyard Is CLOSING in Disney’s Hollywood Studios The new land will include a suspended coaster that recreates the door vault scene from Monsters, Inc. Disney also teased new dining, shopping, and a whole new theater show. Wait, did you catch that? There will actually be TWO attractions in Monsters, Inc. Land — we’re getting a new show, too! Monster’s, Inc. Will it be an interactive show like the Monsters, Inc. Laugh Floor in Magic Kingdom? A 3-D show like MuppetVision 3D? A stage show like the Beauty and the Beast show? We have so many questions! NEWS: Disney Just Confirmed a NEW Show Is Coming to Monsters, Inc. Land in Hollywood Studios Naturally, a lot of people were pretty upset about the fate of MuppetVision 3D. Perhaps to try and make up for the closure, Disney also announced that the Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster is getting rethemed. The Muppets are coming to Sunset Boulevard! ©Disney According to Disney, The Muppets will be taking over Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster, “teaming up with some of music’s biggest stars for a rockin’ music festival!” Does that mean The Muppets are rocking along with some current artists? Is this a hint about the new soundtrack? WE MUST KNOW! NEWS: Disney Confirms Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster RETHEME in Hollywood Studios This brings us to the bad news. Sure, it’s fun to think about the new suspended roller coaster, a new restaurant, and more Muppets merchandise around the park. But Disney’s Hollywood Studios is a relatively small park (compared to the others), and with two BIG areas of the park under construction, we’re expecting this park to feel a little more crowded and tight. ©Disney The wait times might increase, too, since Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster will be closed for a major retheme. TL;DR? Get ready for Construction Wall City. EPCOT Construction Walls Near Spaceship Earth Phew! That’s a lot of news to take in. Before we all panic, let’s wait and see what happens. In the meantime, we’re always on the lookout for the latest Disney news, so stay tuned for more. 8. Hey there! Wanna hear a Disney World hotel secret? Animal Kingdom Lodge Alright, gather ’round, because I’m about to spill the…chutney? I’m sure you’ve heard the hype about Sanaa over at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge, and let’s be real — it’s 100% deserved. Now, the star of the show isn’t one of the main entrees or the desserts (even though they’re all delish). No, the true MVP is the Indian-style bread service (iykyk). I bring all that up to say that the secret I’m about to drop on you is the kind of secret that might have you never going to Sanaa again! Are you ready? Once you hear it, you can’t un-hear it. Let’s go! As I was saying, the bread service at Sanaa is top-tier. It comes with five types of naan and NINE accompaniments ranging from a mild cucumber raita to a fiery chili sambal that’ll make your taste buds do a happy dance. Indian-style Bread Service But if you’ve always thought you needed a dining reservation to get your fix, think again. You don’t actually have to eat in Sanaa’s main dining room to enjoy this glorious carb fest. You can just stroll into the Sanaa Lounge (no reservation needed) and order the bread service there. Welcome to Sanaa Lounge! Let that sink in. Why This Changes EVERYTHING So, picture this: You’ve planned a whirlwind Disney trip, and you forgot to make reservations, or maybe you just don’t feel like committing to a full sit-down meal after a long day at the parks, but then you remember this hack. All you’ve got to do is swing by the laid-back Sanaa Lounge, grab a seat, and BOOM. You’re diving into naan heaven without the stress of snagging a coveted table in the restaurant. Sanaa Lounge The vibe in the lounge is super chill compared to the dining room. It’s the perfect spot to unwind, sip on a cocktail, and savor the bread service at your own pace. Sanaa Lounge Plus, the lounge menu has other small bites if you’re feeling peckish, so it’s a win-win. The Secret Might Not Stay Secret for Long… Now, here’s the thing: not everyone knows this little trick. For years, Sanaa’s bread service has been a low-key Disney must-do, which means most people automatically think “reservation required.” But the fact that you can get the exact same experience in the lounge is such a game changer. Sanaa Lounge The only downside (if you can call it that) is that the more people catch on, the lounge might start getting just as busy as the main dining area. So, do with this information what you will. Sanaa Bread Service at Sanaa Lounge So, what do you think? Will you be heading to the Sanaa Lounge to try this out? Let us know in the comments below. 13. We’re back at it again and bringing you another Disney World drink review! Hollywood Studios With so many options within Disney World’s parks to choose to stop by for a drink, how do you ever narrow down all of your choices? Sure, we have our favorites that we’ve tested time and time again but for this review, we’re calling your attention to a quieter spot that seems to be a real crowd-pleaser. The Sunshine Day Bar in Disney’s Hollywood Studios serves up an assortment of cocktails as part of Sunset Ranch Market you’ll find spread out over several restaurants down Sunset Blvd. Making a quick stop for a drink or two! This walk-up bar operates seasonally so it’s not always open which is probably why you won’t find hard posted hours outside of its order widow, but it seems to know just how to draw the crowds. It’s also a popular stop if you’re looking for a limited-release seasonal beverage. Atmosphere This is a fairly straight forward walk up bar with a selection of specialty drinks. You’ll find it right off of the walkway as you make your way down Sunset Blvd. between Beverly Sunset shop and Anaheim Produce stand. Sunshine Day Bar While there’s not much to this restaurant, it doesn’t seen to keep the crowds from stopping by. Very rarely do we pass by this place without seeing a line down the walkway standing around ready to order. There’s always a line here It’s also hard to miss because it’s got a ginormous sign overhead! Menu Admittedly, the menu here is a bit limited on the forefront serving a few select specialties of this restaurant like the Cherry Blossom, Southside Fizz, and Blackberry Moonshine Lemonade along with a few draft beers and a frozen daiquiri. Menu board However, if you asked nicely at the window for a drink you’re really craving, the Cast Member may be able to whip up a drink from the full bar in the back. Drinks After we had a moment to look over our options, we choose a few we felt would represent the best of what Sunshine Day Bar had to offer! So, we settled on the Cherry Blossom and Southside Fizz. Our haul! Let’s start things off by talking about the Cherry Blossom. This drink is made of Bacardi Superior Rum, Luxardo Maraschino Liqueur, pineapple juice, and grenadine and will cost you $15.50. Cherry Blossom It’s a very pretty to look at when it’s handed over to you but you’re probably most interested in how it tastes. Well, this one was our favorite of the two, simply because there was a lot going on within it. The fruit juices blended really smoothly against the rum and the grenadine added a nice touch to add just enough sourness to the drink. Next up we tried the Southside Fizz (which we though was a fun name for this one). This drink is made of Hendrick’s Gin, pure cane sugar, and lemon juice topped with soda water which will cost you $16.50. Southside Fizz We’re not sure why the extra dollar on this one but it’s a jazzed up version of a gin and tonic drink. It goes down the hatch fairly easily though and you won’t taste a whole lot of it against the soda water and gin, but the lemon does give it a nice twist. While fairly basic to put together, that’s kind of its appeal. It’s a classic for a reason because you get all the bubbly without going overboard on unnecessary flavors. However, we could see the argument being made that this drink compared to the Cherry Blossom was a bit boring. Overall Overall we thought this was a solid stop if you find yourself looking for a drink to sip on around Sunset Blvd. However, it’s a bit elusive as its operating hours aren’t posted outside. Solid options While the menu isn’t extensive by any means, it works for when you’re looking for a solid choice of drink to take into a nearby show or sit and enjoy with your quick service meal you just picked up as alternative to a soda or just water. Nosh or Not? Stop on by the Sunshine Day Bar if… You’re looking to grab a drink and not leave the area. If you’re looking for a solid drink choice without having to go across the park to grab from another bar, this is a decent option for you. You’re grabbing a drink that’s got a good walkability score. If you’re looking to sip on something as you walk around, the portion size is the biggest draw to stopping for a drink here. Breeze on over to another drink stop if… They’re not terribly impressive drinks. While they taste good, they’re not super fancy. If you’re looking for a more complicated drink you might prefer to visit another nearby bar. They’re expensive to be so basic. There’s no way to nice this any other way than we thought these were on the pricer side for a drink when they’re pretty basic. 14. Don’t forget to eat before you fly! There’s nothing worse than a lousy airplane meal, right? ©Discover Airlines Luckily, a famous chef is here to help. A legendary, Michelin Star-Awarded chef — who has a longtime presence at Disney Springs — is branching out into the burgeoning airport restaurant space with a BRAND-NEW restaurant at one of the United States’ busiest transport hubs. Legendary chef José Andrés has teamed with Capital One to open up a new, potentially game-changing lounge at Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport in Washington, D.C. The Capital One Landing is scheduled to open soon. According to the New York Times, the lounge will feature a “globally influenced” menu that was “revised eight times to consider seasonality and the logistics unique to an airport.” Expect tapas, like crisp pan con tomate and gambas al ajillo, beers imported from Spain, caviar cones, and Basque cheesecake. ©Washington Business Journal The Capital One Landing will use an interesting model, combining elements of a sit-down restaurant, a quick-service dining location, and a traditional airport lounge. According to the New York Times, “A grab-and-go section and a separate seated dining area will both be open to the public.” Here’s where things get interesting. To sit down and order food in the dining area, you will pay a flat fee, similar to how people pay in lounges, rather than per dish. Venture and Spark Miles cardholders will pay $45, and Venture X and Venture X Business cardholders will have an even bigger perk: unlimited complimentary access and free entry for one guest per visit. All other Capital One cardholders and non-cardholders will pay $90 per visit. There will also be a time limit. Chef Jose Andres During an interview promoting the concept, Aandrés — who owns Jaleo at Disney Springs — emphasized the quality of the Landing’s offerings and the freshness of the food. He explained “I want people to feel like they’re coming to a place that somebody has put in love and care.” He went on to say, “I have been waiting for this moment for many years to have my food in an airport. I didn’t start thinking about this yesterday, but in the end I always hesitated, like all the other chefs before me who have already tried this arena, between all of us, we keep pushing about how we can get a better experience in the airport in America.” Jaleo World-renowned chef and philanthropist José Andrés has teamed with Capital One to open a new lounge at Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport. 16. Are you planning a trip to Disneyland? Sleeping Beauty Castle Disney’s OG park has a lot to offer, including rides that are EXCLUSIVE, as well as a ton of snacks and great food (honestly, we think the food is BETTER in Disneyland than Disney World — now don’t come at us for that). Disneyland is so fun to visit, too, especially if you’re really into Disney history and want to walk down the same streets and walkways Walt Disney himself once walked on (and don’t forget to take a moment to look up at his old apartment above the fire station). 17. Staying hydrated at Disney World is so important! Between the heat and the humidity, it’s important to drink water. Our signed water bottle! We have carried around our fair share of water bottles and tumblers to keep us hydrated while walking those magical miles. Sometimes we go for practical and something that can keep our water ice cold, especially in the summer. Sometimes we are looking for something cute. We found an adorable tumbler that makes our snack-loving hearts soar and we even tried it out! DISCLOSURE: This post may contain affiliate links, meaning when you click the links and make a purchase, we receive a commission. If you don’t have Amazon Prime, you’re missing out! Grab a FREE trial below. We found this adorable Mickey Ice Cream Tumbler on Amazon. The tumbler cups have intricate details with sprinkles, hot fudge, and candy. It looks so realistic that you could eat it! It holds 15 ounces, perfect for water, iced coffee, cold brew tea, cold drinks, smoothies, and creative beverages. It’s Mickey-shaped! It keeps cold drinks colder and hot drinks hotter with a double wall tumbler and screw-on lid. It can hold beverages with a temperature of up to 175˚F. Oreos for the ears We love the details on the tumbler, but we wanted to test it out in the parks too! The details are amazing What we liked about the tumbler is that it is cute. We were also surprised that it was not very heavy at all! It’s easy to use and can hold a lot. Is anyone else getting 25th Anniversary Cake Castle vibes? There are a few things we would change about it. The water bottle comes with a reusable straw that matches it, but the opening at the top is so wide that it doesn’t catch the thicker bottom to keep it from exiting the cup. This could be a problem if it was tipped over. While it wouldn’t be good to keep it inside of a park bag, if you have a bungee side pocket on the side of your bag, this would work great! If you have a stroller, it would also work well in the cupholder. Gorgeous! Even if you don’t want to take it to the parks, we love the idea of using it around your resort while on vacation. You can also use it at your house to bring that Disney snack feel to your home. So fun and festive While it’s not essential or it might not make your trip easier, we still think it’s a great value because it’s so unique and can be used in other ways! It would also make an adorable gift. View on Amazon We update our Amazon Storefront daily so be sure to check it regularly for our latest finds! 18. There’s snow place like Disneyland Paris where the resort has turned into a winter wonderland this week! As the first flakes of the season blanketed the park, it was the perfect time to grab a chocolat chaud and take in the snowy surprise. Over at Disneyland Hotel, which received a stunning transformation earlier this year, Elsa could be seen unleashing her Ice Magic over Disneyland Park. This one-of-a-kind moment took place in the Royal Suite, which is inspired by the Walt Disney Animation Studio’s movie “Frozen.” Typically, Paris only receives snow a few days per year and this magical moment alone is expected to generate up to four inches in the Îl-de-France region, which is where Disneyland Paris calls home. This rare sight featured a snow-topped Château de la Belle au Bois Dormant (Sleeping Beauty Castle) and holiday décor laced in white. What better way to enjoy the holiday season than with real snow — Disneyland Paris Global Disney Ambassadors, Jose and Dylan, definitely didn’t let this moment go! The snow also brought a special milestone for the first time in, well, EVER. As construction continues on World of Frozen, opening in 2026, Disney Imagineers reveled in the moment and celebrated the land’s first snowfall with their very own Olaf-inspired snowman! It’s not often it snows at Disneyland Paris and we have to admit, we’re having a bit of FOMO! Stay tuned to the Disney Parks Blog for more updates from the resort throughout the year. 20. Disney is about to do something NEW for Christmas this year! ©ESPN/Disney During Disney’s most recent earnings call, CEO Bob Iger spoke highly about the value of live sports, especially to advertisers. He also discussed the upcoming ESPN+ tile coming to Disney+ and the potential for AI-powered enhancements that may allow Disney to create “personalized” versions of SportsCenter. With all that, it should come as no surprise that Disney has now announced another technologically-advanced sports initiative. And it’s happening soon. Disney is teaming up with the NBA and ESPN for a Dunk the Halls event on Christmas Day. The broadcast will feature the “first real-time animated NBA game using Sony’s Beyond Sports technology…when the New York Knicks – led by Jalen Brunson and Karl-Anthony Towns – host the San Antonio Spurs and Victor Wembanyama and Chris Paul.” The broadcast, which will be the first animated presentation of an NBA game, will air on ESPN2, ESPN+, and (for the first time ever for any NBA game) Disney+. The virtual game, set on a recreation of Main Street U.S.A. at the Magic Kingdom, will use “state-of-the-art real-time visualization technology enabled by Sony’s Beyond Sports, combined with Sony’s Hawk-Eye Innovations’ optical tracking.” Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse, Donald Duck, Pluto, Goofy, and Chip and Dale will cheer on the players. ©ESPN/Disney In addition to the fully-rendered presentation of the game, the broadcast will also feature: The Disney characters, led by Mickey Mouse, will “compete in a special slam dunk contest” at halftime Santa’s Elves will operate the cameras for the game while Santa himself will operate ESPN’s “SkyCam” The Disney characters will also “deliver pregame and halftime speeches to the players and decorate a large Christmas tree during the game” Fans will also get to find out if it will “snow on “Main Street, U.S.A.” and see how many churros Goofy can eat” ©ESPN/Disney Commentators Drew Carter and Monica McNutt will also be part of the fun, as they’ll be “animated in the style of the telecast and don ESPN Edge Innovation Partner’s Meta Quest Pro headsets to experience the game from Main Street, U.S.A. thanks to VR technology and Sony’s Beyond Sports’ Virtual Commentator Technology.” In addition, Daisy Duck will “serve as the sideline reporter.” Dunk the Halls will follow in the footsteps of previous Disney/ESPN collaborations, including Marvel’s Arena of Heroes, (an alt-cast of an NBA regular-season game in 2021) and the upcoming The Simpsons Funday Football presentation of a Monday Night Football game, which is scheduled to stream on Disney+ and ESPN+ on December 9th. ©ESPN/Disney Disney is teaming up with the NBA and ESPN to produce a special Dunk the Halls broadcast on Christmas, putting an even larger emphasis on the live sports part of their business! 21. EPCOT, like the other Disney World parks, is always changing. 2024 Food and Wine Festival Year by year, month by month, and sometimes even week by week! However, there’s one big offering that makes EPCOT stand out from a food standpoint than the other parks, and that’s the four festivals the park has throughout the year. The current festival, EPCOT’s International Food & Wine Festival, is coming to an end tomorrow, and the park will almost immediately be very different. For one, the decorations and signs we’ve gotten used to seeing all over the park will disappear. Many of them will be overnight, but some others may take closer to 24 hours to go away until next year. It’s all going away! Of course, from a food standpoint, all the festival booths around the park will be closed and no longer offering their exclusive eats. This also means that the festival offerings available at quick service locations around the park, such as Connections Eatery and Cafe, Refreshment Outpost, and others, will also be gone. Korean BBQ Sandwich from Connections Eatery But one of the changes you may not be expecting, and it’ll be a little hard to tell since we’re going into Thanksgiving week when crowds are often higher, but EPCOT may be slightly less crowded than normal with the absence of a festival. Many frequent Disney World goers choose to visit the park when festivals are happening and almost ONLY when festivals are happening, so in this week where one is absent, they may be choosing to spend their time in other places. EPCOT Crowds Yes, you heard that right, we’re only going a week without a festival, because EPCOT’s International Festival of the Holidays begins on November 29th, the day after Thanksgiving! So we’ll be watching for those menus to pop up on the recently closed booths, and you know we’ll be sharing all those details with you the moment we get them! More Recent EPCOT News! 22. Some new snacks from a galaxy far, far away have made their way to Disneyland! Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge at Disneyland Life Day in Star Wars lore is a Wookie holiday that has returned to Galaxy’s Edge at the Disneyland Resort and has brought with it décor, special merch, and exclusive eats. We’re back this year to try new and returning offerings and to let you know if they’re worth hopping in your speeder and traveling lightspeed to Disneyland! Last year, we tried three different Life Day snacks and were super happy with everything we ate. This year, we tried the Blue Milk with Golden Lichen Paddy Frog Eggs, Life Day Cheese Branch with Kat Saka’s Secret Sauce, Kashyyyk Cake, and Millaflower Toast! Smuggler’s Run First up, we tried the Blue Milk with Golden Lichen Paddy Frog Eggs at Milk Stand for $9.49. Milk Stand Menu This Blue Milk is served with strawberry puree and golden lychee popping spheres. On first sip, this tasted like regular Blue Milk but after a quick stir, we got a bit of a vanilla flavor. We recommend mixing the puree off the side of the cup to really maximize that fresh and sweet strawberry flavor. As for the popping spheres, ours were a bit floral in flavor. The drink is very refreshing, but the size isn’t huge, and, for nearly $10, this may be a one-time-only purchase. Blue Milk with Golden Lichen Paddy Frog Eggs Up next, we grabbed the Life Day Cheese Branch with Kat Saka’s Secret Sauce at Kat Saka’s Kettle for $7.99. We tried this snack last year and were HUGE fans! Life Day Cheese Branch with Kat Saka’s Secret Sauce Once again, this snack delivered. This treat is made with croissant dough mixed with cream cheese, parmesan, and cheddar with a spicy alfredo dipping sauce on the side. Our bread was nice and flaky with a sharp cheddar flavor. The sauce didn’t add much and wasn’t too spicy, but it did add to the overall cheesiness while providing some garlic flavor. Once again, we love this snack and can’t recommend it enough! We definitely wish it was a permanent item on the menu. YUM Next, we headed over to Docking Bay 7 Food and Cargo to try the Kashyyyk Cake for $7.99. Kashyyyk Cake Another returning dish, this cake is made with a brownie base, raspberry sauce, tiramisu, and dark chocolate mousse. This dessert was incredibly rich and chocolatey, so be advised if you’re looking for something lighter. The brownie base on the bottom was served chilled, giving it a tougher-than-expected texture, as well. The tiramisu featured a bitter espresso flavor inside, and the raspberry sauce was tart in flavor, which went really well with the espresso and the chocolate flavors. The dark chocolate mousse really added to the richness and chocolate flavors. Overall, this thing is deceptively heavy, so be prepared for that or share the dessert with someone. Very chocolatey Finally, we tried the Millaflower Toast at Oga’s Cantina for $12. Millaflower Toast This snack is made with cinnamon-swirl toast, whipped ricotta cream, cheesecake frosting, strawberries, lychee pearls, chocolate crumble, and matcha powder. We weren’t huge fans of the hard texture, but the flavor profile was awesome. It was really sweet, savory, and more of a dessert than expected. The toast had a light cinnamon flavor, and the cheesecake frosting was sweet and dense. The whipped ricotta also stood out, as it was really light and creamy with a tangy yet sweet flavor. The strawberries were also super fresh — we just wish it came with more! The lychee pearls were also a fun addition with a light floral flavor. The matcha powder didn’t really do much. Outside of the texture, we really liked this and think it’s worth a try if you’re a fan of these flavors! Lots of great flavors happening here And there you have it! 23. Now, you know how we go to Disney World every day, right? Well, even though we go so often, there are still things that surprise us. Magic Kingdom We’re not talking about new treats, or unexpected experiences we might encounter while at the parks. What we are talking about is the crowds, or rather, the specific lack there of on this one random week. We’re not complaining about it. On the contrary, we love it, so let’s talk about why this week might be the sweet spot for your next trip, plus what you need to know before you pack your ears and head out. If you’ve ever dreamed of strolling through Cinderella Castle without bumping into half the world’s population, I think we found the week that might just be your golden ticket — the week before Thanksgiving! It’s proving to be one of the best times to visit Disney World, and we are obsessed with how downright EMPTY the parks feel right now. Week Before Thanksgiving Crowds Seriously, the longest wait we’ve seen so far is 40 minutes. Only forty minutes! And no, this wasn’t during Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party or any other special ticketed evening event that clears the parks earlier in the day. This was just a regular old, crowd-free midweek Disney day. Why This Week Is Pure Magic Disney pros might already know this, but back in the paper FastPass days (yes, we’re going WAY back), the week before Thanksgiving was traditionally one of the slowest weeks of the year. It was like a well-kept secret among seasoned park-goers. Before there were runDisney race weekends, EPCOT festivals for every season, or the buzz of Lightning Lane strategizing, this week was blissfully quiet. Week Before Thanksgiving Crowds But honestly, it still makes sense. Most families are saving their vacation days for Thanksgiving week when they can combine travel with the holiday. Also, with kids still in school and no major holidays mid-November, this week flies under the radar. It’s the perfect little pocket of low crowds and even lower stress. How Empty Are We Talking? Okay, picture this: you’re in Magic Kingdom. You’ve just walked off Pirates of the Caribbean after a less-than 10-minute wait. Next, you’re heading toward Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, where the posted wait time is 20 minutes. Week Before Thanksgiving Crowds Even the big hitters like Seven Dwarfs Mine Train and Space Mountain are clocking in at 40 minutes tops. This is practically unheard of in today’s Disney World, where we’ve grown accustomed to triple-digit wait times for the most popular attractions. Why We’re Loving This Timing As you can understand, this kind of crowd level means less stressing and more enjoying. You can take your time soaking in all the festive holiday decor and snapping photos with no random strangers in the background. You might even find yourself with enough time to just wander around with a churro in hand, marveling at how peaceful it feels. Week Before Thanksgiving Crowds Also because the parks are less crowded, you don’t have to sprint from ride to ride to cram everything in. You can take a leisurely stroll through the parks, or enjoy a midday break without FOMO. It’s a reminder that there are still times where Disney World can feel magical and relaxing even without the hustle and bustle we’re used to. A Quick Weather PSA Before you book that flight and start dreaming of no-wait rides, there’s one thing you need to know: the weather this week is as unpredictable as Virtual Queue availability at 7 a.m. Some folks are rocking tank tops and flip-flops, while others are bundled up in jackets and pants. Week Before Thanksgiving Crowds Florida in November is the ultimate wildcard. One minute it’s sunny and 80 degrees, and the next it’s breezy and chilly enough to make you rethink your life choices. So, pack smart! You’ll want to Bring layers, a light jacket, comfy shoes, and maybe even a poncho because, well, it’s Florida. Mark Your Calendar for Next Year Empty Disney parks are the stuff of dreams, and this week is turning those dreams into reality. So if you’re already mapping out your 2025 Disney World adventures, you might want to go ahead and pencil in the week before Thanksgiving. 24. While Disney World usually does a good job of letting guests know about potential closures ahead of time, sometimes closures may catch you by surprise. Disney’s Animal Kingdom If you are headed to Disney’s Animal Kingdom in the upcoming weeks, we have some news for you! There are two snack stands in Disney’s Animal Kingdom that are mysteriously not showing any hours. Dino-Bite Snacks is mysteriously closed for quite a bit of time. The snack kiosk is only showing hours on one day, November 26th, for the next two weeks. Starting December 6th, Dino-Bite Snacks is showing more consistent hours (except for no hours being shown on December 8th.) So far, the snack stand is showing normal hours in January though. Disney hasn’t announced a closure for Dino-Bite Snacks, so we aren’t entirely sure why this snack stand is not showing hours on those days. Dino-Bite Snacks Also, we noticed that the Caravan Road Kiosk is not showing hours for today, November 22nd, but hours are back to normal beginning tomorrow, November 23rd. It might be a possibility that Caravan Road Kiosk is not open today due to the cooler weather that has arrived in Disney World, but we don’t know for sure as Disney hasn’t announced the closure either. Caravan Road specializes in shaved ice, so Disney may be thinking those won’t sell very well today. Caravan Road Kiosk While these two snack stands aren’t showing hours, there are still PLENTY of dining options to check out in Animal Kingdom. 25. Well, we’ve certainly had some BIG news about Disney’s Hollywood Studios recently. Disney’s Hollywood Studios We’re pretty excited about the new villains show coming to the park; however, the biggest news we received recently is all about the upcoming Monsters, Inc. land. Disney recently revealed the location for this land, and yes, that means we’re saying goodbye to the Muppets Courtyard (but hello to a Muppets-themed Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster). But Disney also made another hidden announcement about Hollywood Studios: another new show is coming to the park. Disney recently revealed new details about the Monsters, Inc., land, but mentioned something that you might have actually missed. Yes, there will be a suspended roller coaster — a first for Disney — that will recreate the door vault scene from the first Monsters, Inc. film, BUT Disney also revealed the new land would have new dining and shopping. ©Disney And wait! There’s more! Because Disney’s announcement also revealed that this land would have a “whole new theater show.” Now, this is something that Disney had not revealed before. So we now know this land will feature a new attraction AND a new show. Will the new show be at the old MuppetVision 3D theater? Of course, Disney did not reveal any details about this show. There’s already one Monsters, Inc. show over in Tomorrowland in Magic Kingdom, though: Monsters, Inc. Laugh Floor. We’ll be curious to see if Laugh Floor somehow gets reimagined and moves over to Hollywood Studios, but as Disney was adamant about mentioning a “new” show, who knows? Monsters, Inc. Laugh Floor We’ll just have to wait and see what Disney has in store for this new land. In the meantime, we’ll be keeping an eye out for more Disney news, so stay tuned to DFB for more.
