  2. Disney World has a TON of souvenirs to choose from on your Disney vacation. Spaceship Earth We bet there is a souvenir in the parks for everyone. Of course, we’ve seen different trends in the merchandise, like millennials and Gen Z buying the Disney friendship bracelets. But we think the Boomer generation are the ones buying this obscure Disney souvenir and you might even be getting it from them for Christmas. DISCLOSURE: This post may contain affiliate links, meaning when you click the links and make a purchase, we receive a commission. There’s only one place you’ll find this item on Disney property and it’s inside the Germany pavilion. So let’s head in and see what it is our grandparents are loving. Germany Pavillion We’re looking for a Weihnachtsgurke. Don’t know what that is? Don’t worry, we’ll talk you through it. It’s a Christmas pickle! For many families, Christmas morning starts with a hunt for a pickle ornament, deemed the Christmas pickle, on the tree. The first person who finds the pickle gets the first gift, and bragging rights until next Christmas. Germany Christmas tree Most people are under the impression that ye olde Christmas Pickle is a German tradition. Its name alone seems like a pretty dead giveaway, doesn’t it? However, according to The New York Times, the Weihnachtsgurke is all but unknown in Germany. A German polling agency found that 91% of people had never even heard of it. So how did it make its home in the Germany pavilion? And what’s the meaning behind the pickle? Pickle Ornament Story According to Southern Living, there are a few different myths. According to one legend, it was inspired by a German-American soldier who was taken prisoner during the Civil War. Starving, he begged a guard to give him one last pickle before he died. The pity pickle gave him the mental and physical strength to live on. Another is in the 1840s, German glassblowers were churning out ornaments shaped like fruits, nuts, and possibly pickles. By the 1880s, F. W. Woolworth Company was importing them and telling their German origin story. Pickle Ornament So why do we think Boomers are buying up all the pickles? Well, simply for tradition. They can pass these on to their children and grandchildren for a fun way to celebrate the holiday season every year. We love the idea of this tradition even if there’s such a mystery around it! We’ve even spotted some of these pickle ornaments with Mickey ears and Santa hats on them. Christmas Pickle Ornament ©Amazon If you aren’t heading to EPCOT anytime soon, we found a pickle ornament you can get shipped straight to your home. We love that this has the story of the pickle inside of its box to help share the tradition. Shop on Amazon Want More Disney Deals? 3. We just got some important news about Tiana’s Bayou Adventure in Disneyland Park! No more construction walls! The new ride is opening at Disneyland Park on November 15th, 2024, and we just got confirmation on how guests will be able to experience this new attraction. Tiana’s Bayou Adventure in Disneyland will be opening with a virtual queue in place. Just like in Disney World, the ride will be utilizing a virtual queue to manage demand. Additionally, we found out that Tiana’s Bayou Adventure will be available as a selection through the Lightning Lane Multi Pass Service. Tiana’s Bayou Adventure at Disneyland Disney announced that Tiana’s Bayou Adventure will have a virtual queue when it opens in Disneyland Park. This has become Disney’s go-to strategy for managing demand for popular rides. There are currently two other virtual queues being utilized at Disneyland Resort. Haunted Mansion Holiday in Disneyland Park and World of Color — ONE in Disney California Adventure Park both utilize a virtual queue. Sleeping Beauty Castle You can join the virtual queue for Tiana’s Bayou Adventure at 7AM, 12PM, or 4PM (yep, you get three shots at it) on the Disneyland app. Tiana’s Bayou Adventure will NOT have a standby line when it first opens. Your only two options to ride will be to get into the virtual queue or make a selection for the ride with the Lightning Lane Multi Pass service. The ride will be a selection through Lightning Lane Multi Pass, not an a la carte selection through the Lightning Lane Single Pass service. Lightning Lane Multi Pass The virtual queue for Tiana’s Bayou Adventure is accessible via the Disneyland app. The queue will open at 7AM each morning and again at 12PM and 4PM later that day. You do NOT have to be in Disneyland Park to join the 7AM one, but you DO have to have scanned into the park to join the 12PM and 4PM queues. To join, open the app to the homepage and locate the virtual queue section. ©Disney On the app, after you’ve selected your desired attraction in the appropriate park, under “Join Virtual Queue,” you’ll find a button that says “Confirm Your Party.” Once you hit that button, the app will find the people who are linked to your account. You’ll select each person that you want to add to your party, and choose “Confirm Party.” Then you will want refresh and select “Join Virtual Queue” to join the queue right at 7AM, 12PM, or 4PM. Note that virtual queues open at exactly those times, and they can fill up within SECONDS, so you really want to be ready exactly on time. If you’re in the app before 7AM hits, you may need to refresh your screen at 7AM. Construction progress in Disneyland — late-May 2024 If you’re successful in joining the queue, you will receive a boarding group. Disney calls boarding groups back in sections, and once your group is called back, you’ll receive a notification from the Disneyland app telling you to head back to Tiana’s Bayou Adventure. You’ll have one hour to return once your group is called. The app will give you an idea of when your boarding group may be called back, but the estimated time is likely to change. We also always jump on the Starbucks mug trend when Disney World or Disneyland release new Starbucks mugs. Starbucks mug ornaments? Yep, we hang them on our Christmas tree. Well, a NEW Starbucks mug collection is dropping — but you’ll only be able to get them in ONE PLACE. And these mugs are sure to be “Popular.” Cue Glinda singing “Popular” because that’s exactly what we’re talking about. Yes, Starbucks Wicked mugs are a thing, but you can only get them at Universal Studios Hollywood and Universal Orlando Resort. Honestly, these might warrant a trip to Universal because LOOK at them. ©Universal One mug features Glinda and Elphaba in Emerald City, while the other two designs represent Munchkinland and Shiz University. These are being released ahead of the highly-anticipated Wicked movie starring Arianna Grande and Cynthia Erivo. For those not familiar, the movie is based on the Broadway musical of the same name, which is based on a book of the same name by Gregory Maguire. ©Universal Wicked reimagines characters from The Wizard of Oz, predominantly Glinda and Elphaba, the Good Witch and the Wicked Witch of the West. In the story of Wicked, though, the two are college roommates and friends. It’s basically Elphaba’s villain origin story. The film releases on November 22nd. Stay tuned to DFB for more. Over the past 77 years, Toys for Tots Marines and volunteers have distributed an astounding 677 million toys to over 301 million children, making the holidays a little happier, one gift at a time. 13. Although we love it when Disney announces all the new experiences and attractions they’ll be bringing to their parks, it can be a pretty big bummer when we hear about permanent closures. Magic Kingdom And starting in early January, permanent closures will be taking place over at Disney World. Here’s a look at some experiences that will be disappearing forever. Animal Kingdom will be experiencing not just one, but THREE total closures taking place on January 13th, 2025. All these closures will be taking place inside of DinoLand U.S.A. and our hearts truly hurt for our Dino friends. TriceraTop Spin Our days of being able to fly above the air while aboard a dino are numbered as TriceraTop Spin will be a part of the permanent closure. TriceraTop Spin TriceraTop Spin is a family-style ride that lifts you off into the air, very much like Dumbo, except on an awesome dinosaur. But soon, this ride will be no more, so make sure to catch the last flight before January 13th! Fossil Fun Games The fun carnival games you can find over at Dino-Rama will be no more, so if you’re hoping to grab one of the dinosaur plushies as a prize, you should do so soon! Fossil Fun Games Fossil Fun Games is inspired by classic boardwalk games and has guests whack dinosaurs, squirt targets, toss “comets” and more. This area is also home to the only photo booth inside of Animal Kingdom! Chester & Hester’s Dinosaur Treasures And last but not least, Chester & Hester’s Dinosaur Treasures will also be seeing their last day on January 13th. Chester & Hester’s Dinosaur Treasures This whacky souvenir shop is designed to look like a whacky roadside gift shop serving up retro vibes and dino fun. Inside you can purchase apparel, accessories, plushes, and more, including vouchers to play the Fossil Fun Games. Chester & Hester’s Dinosaur Treasures These closures are a part of the Tropical Americas expansion coming to Animal Kingdom. This expansion will bring attractions themed after Encanto and Indiana Jones. Construction begins soon after the closures and is set to open in 2027. Although these attractions in DinoLand U.S.A. are set to close, Dinosaur, the Boneyard, Restaurantosaurus, Dino-Bite Snacks, and Trilo-Bites will remain open for the time being. Dinosaur in Animal Kingdom Although we are extremely torn up about these closures, we’re also excited about all the new and incredible changes that are coming to Animal Kingdom. 16. Picture this: the Thanksgiving holiday is here, your family has the day off, and you’re spending the day in Disney World. You’ve got a nice, hearty Thanksgiving meal lined up at Liberty Tree Tavern, and you plan to visit some of your favorite Magic Kingdom rides throughout the day. Sounds pretty nice, eh? Barnstormer Well, here’s the part we left out: Thanksgiving is notoriously one of the BUSIEST days in Disney World. The parks get pretty crowded, and Disney’s skip-the-line services tend to reach a record-high price. This year is no exception — Disney just revealed the prices for Lightning Lane Multi Pass, Lightning Lane Single Pass, and Lightning Lane Premier Pass. Spoiler alert: those Thanksgiving day skip-the-line passes are EXPENSIVE! If you plan to visit Magic Kingdom on Thanksgiving day, be prepared for high wait times and big crowds. Disney raises and lowers the prices of its skip-the-line services based on the anticipated crowd level, so when we see record-high prices for November 28th, we know Disney is expecting a lot of people. Thanksgiving Day crowds 2023 Here’s a look at the prices for Disney’s new luxury skip-the-line service, Lightning Lane Premier Pass, on November 28th, 2024. To sum this option up in a few words, it’s basically a top-dollar, simplified way to avoid the standby line at each ride. The prices on Thanksgiving day are record-breaking — this is the most we’ve seen Disney charge for a Premier Pass at each park. Disney’s Animal Kingdom: $199 Disney’s Hollywood Studios: $349 EPCOT: $249 Magic Kingdom: $449 Keep in mind you cannot use your Premier Pass in multiple parks on the same day. ©Disney Disney is also reporting record-high prices for the Lightning Lane Multi Pass and Single Pass on the same day. These services are much less expensive than the Premier Pass and offer access to the “express lane,” a.k.a. the Lightning Lane, at various rides in each park. The Multi Pass price in Magic Kingdom on November 28th is a whopping $35 per person. (For comparison, a Magic Kingdom Multi Pass is $27–$32 for most of November.) Multi Pass Prices on November 28th: Disney’s Animal Kingdom: $17 EPCOT: $21 Disney’s Hollywood Studios: $27 Magic Kingdom: $35 Thanksgiving crowds Single Pass Prices on November 28th: Seven Dwarfs Mine Train: $13 TRON Lightcycle / Run: $21 Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind: $18 Star Wars: Ride of the Resistance: $25 Avatar Flight of Passage: $16 Lightning Lane Luckily, there are plenty of other things to see and do around Disney World when the crowds feel overwhelming. You can visit Disney’s Monorail Resorts to see the gingerbread displays. You can take a relaxing break at the Carousel of Progress. You can sit and recharge in the Storybook Circus seating area. You can even visit Disney Springs and check out the Tree Stroll! There’s a charging station in Storybook Circus in Magic Kingdom! If you decide to brave the crowds, good luck! 17. Do you know what the best part of the holiday season is in Disney World? Christmas is here! No, it’s not the decorations in Magic Kingdom and the other parks, although don’t get us wrong — we LOVE seeing all the festive decor. It’s also not Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party, which we enjoy every year AND is a lot of fun. It’s not even looking forward to Jollywood Nights. No, the BEST part of the holiday season in Disney World is THE SNACKS. Disney World releases TONS of holiday snacks starting this time of year and we are SO lucky that we get to try them all out. So we just recently popped into a few Disney World hotels to try out some new holiday snacks. First up, we’re heading to Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge to visit The Mara to try the Festive Tart for $6.49. It’s a Vanilla Tart Shell with Banana Cake, Caramel Sauce, Matcha Crunch, Chai Mousse, and Green Magic Shell topped with Holiday Lights and Animal Print Mickey. As you can see, it’s already living up to its festive name. Festive Tart First up, the tart is served cold and at first, we really didn’t think it was much to write home about. But the mousse inside has a lovely spiced chai flavor, which gives it some holiday flair. We didn’t really get much of the caramel or matcha flavors, though. What really wowed us was the banana cake base. It’s dense enough to hold up the rest of the treat and is SO moist with a natural banana flavor. The only thing we think it was missing was maybe something like walnuts. But we’d eat this part just alone. SO tasty Over at BoardWalk Deli at Disney’s BoardWalk Inn, you can grab the Candy Cane Cheesecake Brownie for $5.49. This is made with Peppermint Cheesecake, a Decadent Brownie, and Dark Chocolate ‘Sleigh Bell’ Truffle. Y’all. This is the IDEAL holiday treat and the clear winner of the three snacks we tried. The brownie on the bottom is soft and oh, so chocolatey, but dense enough to hold up the rest of the snack. Candy Cane Cheesecake Brownie On top, you’ve got this nice thick layer of peppermint cheesecake that’s just like SO good, creamy, and cheesecake-y — it immediately makes us want to start singing Christmas Carols. Then there’s chocolate on top that is sort of hardened like a shell and little peppermint pieces that give you a nice crunch. Y’all — GET THIS SNACK if you want to celebrate the holidays in Disney World. Our Sleigh Bell truffle, though, was…well, off. There was nothing inside it to make it a truffle — it was just like a chocolate decoration. But this doesn’t change our feelings about this treat and we will probably be grabbing this again before the end of the year. This is SO good Then we headed over to Disney’s Beach Club Resort to pick up the Holiday Mickey Cupcake at Beach Club Marketplace for $6.49. It’s a Vanilla Cupcake, White Chocolate Mousse, Colored Buttercream, Holiday Sprinkles, and White Chocolate Candy Cane. Okay, so this is basically a regular old Disney cupcake, but its simplicity is actually what we liked about it, although we found the cake a bit dry. It’s a straightforward vanilla flavor with a white chocolate mousse filling that brightens it. Holiday Mickey Cupcake It was difficult to eat because it’s top heavy, so this one probably requires a fork. Otherwise you’ll end up like us covered in green and red splotches. Grab napkins and have wet wipes handy! That filling is so good We’ll be reviewing all the new holiday treats in Disney World, so stay tuned to DFB for more. 18. There is so much coming to Disney World that is a bit hard to keep track of it all! Magic Kingdom Train Station Magic Kingdom will seeing the addition of a Disney Villains land beyond Big Thunder Mountain and two brand-new Cars attractions coming to Frontierland. Animal Kingdom will be welcoming a brand-new show called Zootopia: Better Zoogether and DinoLand U.S.A. will be re-themed to Pueblo Esperanza and feature three brand new rides. See what I’m saying? There’s a lot coming, and we haven’t even talked about Test Track 3.0 coming to EPCOT or the new Monsters, Inc. land at Hollywood Studios! All of that being said, there are a couple of attractions that we wanted to get further clarity on, and they’re attractions that have seemingly been completely abandoned by Disney. So what’s the deal? As we were saying, in the midst of all the excitement and hype over all of the new things coming to Disney World, we thought it was a good opportunity to revisit some of the attractions they straight up abandoned over the past few years (and have said nothing about)! Galactic Starcruiser First up, do you remember the Galatic Starcruiser? It was that interactive two-night Star Wars experience aboard the Halcyon. This “Star Wars hotel” opened back in May of 2022 and then closed up just over a year later in September of 2023. Why waste a perfectly good room? At the moment, we haven’t heard of any plans to re-open the hotel. Considering the massive initial investment, we really hope they decide to use it in some capacity. Galactic Starcruiser For example, what about having “day trips” from Batuu (Galaxy’s Edge in Hollywood Studios) to the Halcyon? Or maybe the hotel could host special Star Wars-themed events (I’m looking at you Star Wars Celebration). Crowds in the Galactic Starcruiser’s Atrium Either way, this space is just itching to be used, and we’re totally here for it! PLAY! Pavilion Next up, have you ever taken a stroll at EPCOT and noticed a golden dome out of the corner of your eye? Well, you’re not seeing a mirage. It actually used to be home to The Wonders of Life Pavilion, which closed permanently after operating seasonally on January 1st, 2007. Disney still made use of it seasonally as the headquarters of the EPCOT festivals from 2007 to 2018. ©Wikipedia Back in 2019 at D23, we heard Disney say that The Wonders of Life Pavilion, would be re-vamped into the PLAY! Pavilion as part of the whole EPCOT Transformation that would be coming over the next few years at that point. It was even added to the EPCOT map and coming soon posters were placed around EPCOT for some time. ©Disney || Play Pavilion Concept Art Well, the transformation has basically finished and we’re still seeing the same Golden Dome just sitting abandoned to this day. The Wonders of Life Pavilion Who knows what Disney has in store for this now and if the concept of the PLAY! Pavilion as an interactive and hands-on entertainment space would even work in this post-covid environment. Either way, we’re still fans of this being revitalized in some form. Mary Poppins Attraction Sticking with EPCOT for this last one, do y’all remember hearing about the Mary Poppins that was to come to the United Kingdom Pavilion? Mary Poppins attraction concept art So back when we had the EPCOT Experience in EPCOT’s Odyssey building, the Mary Poppins attraction was included in a brief section of the film that accompanied the UK Pavilion. Mary Poppins Attraction ©Disney We then heard in March 2022 from Disney that the project had become “postponed” along with a few others like the re-theming of Spaceship Earth. Since then however, we haven’t heard anything more on it. We can’t make heads or tails of this one as it would have been incredible to have a Mary Poppins attraction in EPCOT. Here’s hoping this project will come back soon! Mary Poppins in EPCOT We really do hope that Disney will knock our socks off and bring these abandoned projects back to life, and in the meantime, we’ll keep our eyes peeled for the latest on them. 20. Disney World has been a constant hive of activity for a while now. Walt Disney World Swan We’ve seen attractions open, a bunch of major park expansions coming over the next few years, and even new hotel additions. So, needless to say, there are a whole host of things to look forward to on your next trip to Disney World. Speaking of something to look forward to, if you’re going to be staying at a Disney World hotel in December, you’re in luck because there are 3 hotels that will have brand new rooms you can stay in! Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort Our first on this list is one that doesn’t just have a couple of renovated room. Oh, no, no, no. This one has a whole brand-new tower that just popped up out of the ground! ©Disney || Island Tower What we’re talking about is how construction has going on for a while at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort because they’re about to open The Island Tower at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort Villas and Bungalows! Artist Rendering — Wailulu Bar & Grill © Disney This new section of Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort is opening on December 17th, 2024! It will be the tallest addition for the hotel to date (10-stories). Its rooms will be filled with hidden details (and Mickeys), beautiful flowing decor, and calming neutral and blue hues inspired by the South Pacific Islands! Even though it’s a Disney Vacation Club property, anyone is invited to book a reservation here. ©Disney We really can’t wait to see everything this new addition has to offer. For instance, getting to watch the Happily Ever After fireworks from there is going to be simply unbelievable! ©Disney In the meantime, Disney shared a full-on interactive tour of one of their two-bedroom suites that you can check out! FULL TOUR of a 2-Bedroom Suite at Disney’s NEW Polynesian Village Resort Island Tower Disney’s Port Orleans Resort — French Quarter Next up, let’s hitch a ride down to Disney’s Port Orleans Resort — French Quarter because it has been undergoing it’s own refurb! Port Orleans French Quarter The room refurbishments here have been going on since May, and we’ve slowly seen the new rooms open back up to guests. Specifically, the room refurbishments have already been completed in Buildings 1 and 2. To be sure, there’s no guarantee you’ll get an updated room if you’re staying at this hotel in December, but there is that possibility. New rooms at Port Orleans Resort — French Quarter We recently hit the jackpot and stayed in one of the refurbished rooms recently, and we really enjoyed the changes! Seating area and TV at Port Orleans Resort — French Quarter The beds have a brand-new pattern above them that is stunning, and we can’t get over the green color (it’s so calming). If you look closely, the pattern features instruments such as drums and a trumpet. The throw pillow adds the perfect pop of color, and the rest of the room matches! Bed As we were saying, if you come in December, you might get the chance to stay in one of these refurbished rooms. In the meantime, check out our full tour! Check Out Our FULL TOUR of a Refurbished Room at Port Orleans — French Quarter Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin Lastly, if you’re wanting to stay in the EPCOT resort area, you seriously need to check out The Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin hotels. You’ll find them between the Yacht Club and the BoardWalk. Fun fact, these hotels are owned by Marriott, and they get many of the same perks that Disney World’s Deluxe Resorts get. You can use and earn Marriott hotel points here! Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin Now about the rooms, they’ve been remodeling the guest rooms in the Walt Disney World Swan. You can see in the picture they shared that the rooms will be featuring luxury tile flooring and other new style choices. ©Marriott They say that all the room renovations will be completed in 2024, and with only the rest of November and December left in the year, it’s a pretty safe assumption to make that should you be coming in December, you’ll be among the first to experience these newly remodeled rooms. OPENING TIMELINES Announced for NEW Disney World Swan and Dolphin Hotel Expansion So there you have it. 21. Before you know it, we’ll be ringing in a new year in Disney World! If you’re planning a trip to Disney World as 2024 comes to an end, you might want to check out this new Disney Resort event. Be warned, though — this Disney party is NOT cheap. Disney’s Contemporary Resort Disney World is expensive. Whether you’re staying at Disney’s Art of Animation Resort with your family or visiting Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort with your partner, the trip adds up pretty quickly. With all the recent price increases — and a controversial new luxury Lightning Lane Premier Pass option — it seems like Disney has no plans to lower costs. And now, Disney just announced a New Year’s Eve event at Disney’s Contemporary Resort is back (for $800 per person). Be ready to SPLURGE if you’re interested. Disney just announced that its grand New Year’s Eve event at California Grill will return in 2024. This year’s theme is new — it’s called Tiana’s New Year’s Adventure at California Grill. Disney described the event as a “fantastical evening,” complete with food, champagne, wine, and “one-of-a-kind entertainment.” California Grill As we mentioned earlier, this is not an inexpensive party. Tickets are $799 per person, including tax and gratuity, and the event begins at 7:30PM on December 31st and ends at 12:30AM on January 1st. So, what’s included at a Disney-themed New Year’s Eve party? The story goes that Princess Tiana and Prince Naveen stopped by California Grill to sample the cuisine, meet some new friends, and assist Tiana’s friend, Chef Matthew. California Grill at Disney’s Contemporary Resort In true Disney fashion, there will be a little extra magic throughout the night. It sounds like, thanks to Mama Odie, Louis and a few of Tiana’s other critter pals will crash the party. Disney teased, “Throughout the night, Mama Odie will cast playful spells to help Louis and friends stay out of sight of Tiana and Naveen,” and Tiana will need YOUR help to find those extra party guests! In fact, Disney says, “Be prepared to join in the action!” Princess Tiana This is designed to be a luxury event, so participants are encouraged to dress their best. Disney promises to start 2025 with a champagne toast at midnight, and you’ll have a lovely view of the New Year’s Eve fireworks at California Grill. View from California Grill Really, though, the most important part of visiting this restaurant is the FOOD, and the menu is filled with New Year’s dishes. Here’s a look at the menu: Chilled Appetizer Station Beef Tartare Chilled Raw Bar Display Caviar Station Chopped Salad Wood Burning Appetizer Station Chicken “Drumstick” Squash Blossom “Doughnut” Creole Pizza Muffaletta Pizza Rock Shrimp Po Boy Corn Fried Oysters Sushi Station Maki Sashimi Nigiri A collection of original sushi creations Hot Seafood Station Lobster Ravioli Jumbo Sea Scallops Blackened Red Fish Seafood Boil From the Grill and Rotisserie Suckling Pig “Porchetta” Smoked Duck Beef Tenderloin Pan Seared Lions Mane “Skate Wing” Gumbo Desserts and Interesting Breads Beignets & Chicory Assorted House Made Truffles and Bon Bons Chocolate Covered Strawberries King Cake You can tell it’s a SUPER fancy event when there’s a “fanciful ice sculpture” in the dining room, too. The lounge area The good news is that the event did NOT get a price increase this year. Last year, the event was called Alice’s Whimsical World of Wonderland and offered essentially the same mix of foods and entertainment. Our Table Setting OK…be honest. Are you a little tempted to splurge on this event for 2025? It sounds like quite the party! In the meantime, we’re always on the lookout for the latest Disney news, so stay tuned for more. While it’s really rare to still see these characters out and about in Disney World, you can bring them to life with this bag. View on Amazon Sleeping Beauty Stain Glass Castle Loungefly ©Amazon This Loungefly design is pretty unique. The front features Sleeping Beauty’s castle, but the showstoppers are the 3 fairy godmothers — Flora, Fauna, and Merryweather. Each of the fairies has its own small zipper pocket which would be perfect for small items like chapstick. The back and sides of the bag are adorned with stained glass artwork from the film. Also, The Cake Bake Shop, the newest Disney World restaurant, would be the perfect place to wear this too! View on Amazon Brave Little Tailor Minnie Mouse Loungefly ©Amazon This bag is going old school to the Brave Little Tailor, which came out in 1938. 25. You said you were looking for a side of island vibes along with your drink, right? Gurgling Suitcase The Gurgling Suitcase in Disney’s Old Key West Resort is a Key West-style bar, and right now, we’re taking you with us to check it out! Atmosphere Despite its name, the Gurgling Suitcase isn’t just some gimmicky bar. In fact, it’s a charming little hideaway that feels worlds away from Disney World’s usual hustle and bustle. Gurgling Suitcase It’s situated right by the marina at Disney’s Old Key West Resort, and it gives off a beachy, relaxed vibe that’ll make you feel like you’ve stepped into an island bar somewhere in the Caribbean. Marina right outside of the Gurgling Suitcase Inside, the seating is limited to just a few stools, which actually creates an intimate setting that feels cozy and chill. Gurgling Suitcase If you’re looking for more space to stretch out, there’s plenty of outdoor seating with picnic tables lining the front patio area. Gurgling Suitcase outdoor seating This setup is perfect for groups or anyone who wants to soak up the peaceful marina views while sipping a cocktail. The best part? The bar plays fantastic music that only amplifies the island vibe—it’s a little slice of paradise right within Disney’s walls. Menu Being that this spot is primarily a Key West-style bar, alcoholic drinks (cocktails, beer, hard cider, hard seltzer, and wine) take up most of the menu. The cocktails definitely help sell that you’re at an island bar in the Caribbean. ©Disney If you’re feeling hungry, they’ve also got some tasty bites you can try as well. Now, onto the main reason you’re here — the food and drinks. Eats First up, we started with a serving of the Savory Hushpuppies, which are Olivia’s Famous Recipe, and they’re served with Key Lime Mustard for $12. If you’re a hush puppy fan, these might just be the highlight of your Disney dining experience here. Savory Hushpuppies The hush puppies here are fried to golden perfection — crispy on the outside, soft and fluffy on the inside. They’ve got a deliciously rich corn flavor, are super satisfying, and the portion is generous at seven hush puppies per order. Savory Hushpuppies The hush puppies come with a side of Key Lime Mustard sauce, which is a surprise star. This sauce has a honey mustard base with a twist of lime, and it pairs beautifully with the savory hush puppies. Even if you’re unsure about lime mustard (we initially gave it the side eye for a minute), trust us, this sauce is the perfect tangy complement and absolutely worth trying. Overall, you have to try the hush puppies here. They’re one of the biggest reasons to pop into the Gurgling Suitcase. Next, we tried the House-Made Chips and Dip, which are Chips, Plant-based French Onion Dip, and Red Pepper Aïoli for $12. House-Made Chips and Dip For us, they were a bit of a mixed bag. The French Onion Dip is creamy, cold, and heavy on the onion flavor, they basically took the essence of French onion soup and transformed it into a dip. While the flavor is good, it might not be for everyone, especially if you’re not a huge onion fan. French Onion Dip The Red Pepper Aïoli, on the other hand, tastes very similar to red pepper hummus, with a mild pepper flavor that adds a subtle zing. It’s a nice, thick dip that pairs well with the chips but doesn’t particularly stand out as anything extraordinary. Red Pepper Aïoli The chips themselves are well-seasoned and taste a lot like kettle-cooked chips with a bit of a kick from paprika and chili powder. Overall, it’s a solid snack, but the hush puppies definitely steal the spotlight. Lastly, no trip to an island-themed bar would be complete without a signature tropical cocktail, and the Turtle Krawl was the Gurgling Suitcase’s answer to that. This drink is made with Siesta Key White Rum, Parrot Bay Coconut Rum, and Sailor Jerry Spiced Rum with Grenadine, Pineapple, Orange, and Key Lime Juices for $15. Turtle Krawl That combination made it a fruity, refreshing option that isn’t overly strong on the alcohol taste. The pineapple and orange juices dominate the flavor profile, creating a bright, citrusy sweetness that’s easy to sip and super refreshing. Turtle Krawl The Turtle Krawl might not be the most unique cocktail, but it’s definitely a solid choice if you’re looking for something light and breezy to go with those marina views. Plus, it looks as vibrant and tropical as it tastes, making it a perfect drink to capture the Key West vibe. So, what’s our verdict on the Gurgling Suitcase?! Overall All in all, Gurgling Suitcase is a unique, laid-back spot that brings a bit of Key West charm to Disney’s Old Key West Resort. With marina views, cozy outdoor seating, and delicious hush puppies, it’s definitely worth a visit if you’re looking for something a little off the beaten path. Full Spread The Turtle Krawl and chips make nice additions, but those hush puppies? Well, they’re the real reason to head to the Gurgling Suitcase. So, if you find yourself at Old Key West, you’ll definitely want to grab a seat, take in the view, and enjoy a quiet moment with a dash of island spirit. Nosh or Not Make a stop at the Gurgling Suitcase if… You’re looking for a spot that’s away from the big crowds and offers a break from all the hustle and bustle. You’re wanting a spot that has those island vibes. You’re looking for some excellent savory bites to have alongside your cocktail (looking at you hushpuppies!).
