You’ll soon be walking in a winter wonderland because gingerbread season is upon us! In just a few short weeks, Walt Disney World Resort and Disneyland Resort will be home to some dazzling creations for the holiday season. These gingerbread displays have become a yuletide tradition for the entire family, and for good reason. They are masterfully brought to life by the talented bakery teams following months of hard work and artistry. Trust me when I say, these are not to be missed. This year there are some new and returning creations to get you in the holiday spirit with a Disney touch. New this year, EPCOT will be welcoming Gingerbread Spaceship Earth modeled after the iconic attraction. Returning to Walt Disney World is the adorable Life-Size Baby Gingerbread Giraffe and Baby Zebra at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge. And what holiday season at Disneyland Resort would be complete without the Haunted Mansion Holiday display nestled within the mansion itself! I cannot wait to see what the bakery teams have in store for us this year. While we wait for them to arrive, why don’t we check out some of this year’s fun facts and take a look at last year’s dazzling displays? EPCOT will be home to a brand-new creation starting on November 29 – Gingerbread Spaceship Earth. This offering in CommuniCore Hall will feature Spaceship Earth in gingerbread form. The EPCOT Festival Team and Walt Disney Imagineering have teamed up with the talented EPCOT Pastry team to create this 8-foot-tall gingerbread display, which took over 160 hours. It even will light up and dance to music throughout the day. The sphere itself is made up of almost a thousand handcrafted gingerbread triangles to mirror the iconic attraction. There are 240 pounds of honey dough, 100 eggs, 100 ounces lebkuchen spice, 55 pounds dark chocolate, and 100 pounds royal icing. For a final Disney touch, there are 11 hidden Mickeys to represent the 11 countries of the World Showcase. Back for its fourth year, the Life-Size Baby Gingerbread Giraffe and Baby Zebra displays will be trekking into the lobby of Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge starting November 24. This adorable creation features Ginger, the baby giraffe – or rather a ginger-affe – along with Debra, the baby zebra. These life-sized displays stand nearly 7 feet tall and are brought to life by the incredibly talented Animal Kingdom Lodge bakery team with a combination of gingerbread, sugar dough, and modeling chocolate. New this year, there is a limited-edition pin, cookie jar, and holiday ornament inspired by Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge available for purchase. Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge Gingerbread Display Menu For some tasty bites to enjoy on this holiday safari, the team has also whipped up some tasty items, including the Gingeraffe Cookie and specialty cocktails. This year, we’re celebrating 25 sweet years of the beloved Gingerbread House at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa. Starting November 6, the iconic house that smells as good as it looks will be available for guests to bask in the holiday festivities. As you explore the various details of this incredible display, you’ll find white chocolate candy canes, edible snowflakes, sugar poinsettias, and an 88-pound white chocolate Santa. The gingerbread itself is baked with 1050 pounds of honey, 800 pounds of flour, and 600 pounds of confectioners’ sugar. The decorations feature 700 pounds of chocolate and feature over 10,000 pieces of gingerbread – yes, you heard that right. The team spend over 500 hours baking the gingerbread and 480 hours bringing all the dazzling details to life. To celebrate the 25 years of holiday tradition, there are 25 hidden Mickeys scattered throughout. See how many you can find! There will also be a limited-edition collection of 25th anniversary merchandise including a pin, ornament, cookie jar, magnet, tumbler, t-shirt, and more available for purchase to commemorate your holiday memories. Grand Floridian Gingerbread House Menu If you’re looking to take a taste of gingerbread home, you’re in luck because nestled within the display itself, you’ll find treats available for purchase, including: Gingerbread Mickey Gingerbread Shingle Stollen Bread Brownie Pop Gingersnap Cookies Gingerbread House Ornament Gingerbread House Gingerbread Cookie Bags imported from Germany Gingerbread Loaf Peppermint Bark Grand Floridian Gift Box featuring assorted fan favorite treats, including a Santa Gnome Hot Cocoa Surprise, exclusive to the Combo Box Because parking at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa is limited to guests with hotel and dining reservations, those visiting this sweet holiday display will need to park at the Transportation & Ticket Center and take the resort monorail. For 24 years, Disney’s Beach Club Resort has continued their cherished tradition with the life-sized Holiday Carousel. Did we mention it actually spins? Each holiday season, the horses are decorated to a different theme and this year, the characters from “Mickey’s Christmas Carol” will be brought to life by the talented Yacht and Beach Bakery. This yuletide celebration is masterfully created with chocolate, sugar, and fondant with hand-painted characters and handcrafted gingerbread shingles and snowflakes adorning the carousel. This is done with a whopping 432 pounds of honey, 200 pounds of icing, 100 pounds of eggs, and 2024 pieces of gingerbread, not to mention the creativity and enthusiasm of the bakery team. Be sure to keep an eye out for the 24 hidden gold Mickeys placed throughout the display. To take a piece of the memories home with you, there’s also a limited-edition pin, cookie jar, and holiday ornament available, too. Disney’s Beach Club Resort Gingerbread Display Menu Some of the holiday treats available at this location include: Linzer Cookie Spiced Orange and Cranberry Bundt Cake Gingerbread Macarons Hot Cocoa Brownie Hannukah Sugar Cookie Stollen Gingerbread House Just a short trip around crescent lake, Disney’s BoardWalk Inn plays host to a miniature gingerbread version of its iconic and fan-favorite spots from the BoardWalk itself. The BoardWalk Deli Gingerbread House, starting November 12, is beautifully created with details that look just like the seaside escape, but just in a smaller and sweet form. The BoardWalk Deli itself is home to none other than the BoardWalk Inn Bakery team, who brings this display to life. This year, there’s also a limited-edition pin, cookie jar, and holiday ornament available for purchase to bring the gingerbread magic home with you! Disney’s BoardWalk Inn Gingerbread Display Menu Before leaving, be sure to check out some of the treats made by the team, like: Holiday Mickey and Minnie Sugar Cookie Mickey Caramel Corn Cookie Gingerbread Loaf Gingerbread Shingle Starting November 8, Disney’s Contemporary Resort will be getting an extra holiday (and sweet) touch with their Castle Display. This dazzling creation, back for its 13th year, can be found on the 4th floor of the resort. Walt Disney Imagineers have designed this new overlay inspired by the Cinderella Castle Dream Lights. The Contemporary Bakery team has been hard at work creating this display that stands over 17 feet tall and 25 feet wide. It’s made with 613 pounds of sugar, 1013 pounds of flour, 113 pounds of gingerbread spice, 51 pounds of chocolate, over 4,000 castle gingerbread bricks, and plenty of pixie dust! Don’t forget to search for the 13 hidden Mickeys and the one and only, 5-legged goat. You can also purchase limited-edition pins, cookie jar, and holiday ornament here, too! Disney’s Contemporary Resort Gingerbread Display Menu For those wanting a sweet treat, the following will also be available for purchase: Linzer Cookie Caramel Apple Cake with Gingerbread Streusel Chocolate Hazelnut Log Pistachio Cranberry and Cherry Cake Santa Peppermint Hot Chocolate Tart House-made Christmas Tree Butter Cookie Winter Berry Freeze (Alcoholic floater available) Frozen Hot Cocoa (Alcoholic floater available) For guests taking a trip to Disney’s Wilderness Lodge, nestled in the lobby, you’ll find a delicious selection of sweet treats. Starting November 21, get in the holiday spirit with bites like: Dark Chocolate Bar Cheddar Gougère Molasses Crackle Cookie Cookie Box For our next stop, we’re taking a trip to the West Coast for two mesmerizing gingerbread displays at Disneyland Resort. Starting November 22, you’ll find Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel & Spa Gingerbread Display. This year’s creation in the lobby features a gingerbread replica of Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel and Spa with none other than Chip ‘n’ Dale in their pajama attire seen in Mickey’s Holiday Pajama Party Breakfast and Brunch at Storytellers Cafe. Standing 7 feet tall and 12 feet wide, the structure is created from more than 600 pounds of gingerbread, 600 pounds of powdered sugar, 250 pounds of fondant, one pound of pixie dust, and features 25 hidden Mickeys! Grand Californian Great Hall Cart Menu Looking for a sweet bite to get your taste buds in the holiday spirit? Treat yourself to one (or multiple) of the following from November 15 through January 5: Gingerbread Cookie Christmas Cookie Mickey-shaped Poinsettia Cookie Holiday Crisped Rice Treat Sweet Potato Loaf Treat Holiday Cinnamon Bun Macaron Box Cookie Box Eggnog (Also available with Bailey’s Original Irish Cream Liqueur) Over in Disneyland Park, the Haunted Mansion has been transformed into a festive celebration by Jack Skellington, or should we say Santa Jack. Here at Haunted Mansion Holiday, inspired by “Tim Burton’s The Nightmare Before Christmas,” the sweet smell of gingerbread leads you to the display. Halloween Town’s resident mad scientist, Dr. Finkelstein, has been hard at work with his trusted assistant Igor to bring his Gigantic Gingerbread Zombie, Lil’ Franky, to life. This haunting holiday offering is comprised of 60 pounds of gingerbread, 50 pounds of powdered sugar, 10 pounds of egg whites, 30 pounds of rolled fondant, 10 pounds of chocolate, and 2 hidden Mickeys. Happy first of November, or what we like to call, the first day of the holiday season in Disney World. Happy Holidays! Now, we’ve already seen some holiday decorations arrive in the parks. The first Jollywood Nights is coming up SOON in Hollywood Studios, followed by Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party in Magic Kingdom. Magic Kingdom has transformed overnight (and we’re always impressed when it goes from Halloween to Christmas in less than 24 hours). If you’re looking forward to the holiday season in Disney World, particularly New Year’s Eve, though, we’ve got a word of warning for you. We’re already starting to see something for New Year’s Eve at EPCOT. Park Pass reservations are completely GONE for that day. Now, it’s no secret that New Year’s Eve is HUGE in EPCOT (there are usually dance parties and even a special fireworks celebration), so if you have plans to visit that park, know that it will be crowded. 2023 New Year’s Eve crowds at EPCOT Note that park pass reservations are only required for SOME Disney World visitors including Annual Passholders, and those who don’t have a date-based ticket. But when park pass reservations are gone, it’s a good sign that a park will be very busy on that day. We just wanted to give you a heads up if that’s also your plan for New Year’s Eve, so you can prepare accordingly. Note that park pass reservations are also gone for Magic Kingdom on New Year’s Eve. New Year’s Eve dance party in EPCOT in 2022 This also probably means that there will be a huge demand for Lightning Lane Multi Pass and Lightning Lane Single Pass, so the prices for those ride skip-the-line options could also be higher on New Year’s Eve. You’ll want to adjust your Disney World budget accordingly. Stay tuned to DFB for more Disney news. You really have a lot of decisions to make when planning a Disney World trip, right?! Spaceship Earth I mean, you’ve got to figure out how you’re going to travel (airplane, driving, walking???), what rides you’re going to get on, which spots you’ll stop at for your meals, and where you’re going to rest your head at night. Speaking of where you’re going to stay, that got us thinking about which Disney World hotel rooms you avoid like the plague, so we reached out to you to get your thoughts. Well, we asked and you delivered! We reached out to our followers on Facebook to ask: “What are the WORST Disney World hotel rooms in your opinion?” We had quite a few people leave their opinions in the comments! What do you think? Now, let’s dive into some of your top responses! Pop Century Resort First up, we’ve got Pop Century, which is a budget-friendly option, but according to our reader Chris, the savings weren’t worth it. He shared, “One time, and only one time, we stayed at Pop Century and hated it. We had to walk forever, and the room was tiny, even for three people. Never again.” Disney’s Pop Century Resort It sounds like the combination of long walks to the rooms and the cramped quarters left quite a lasting impression. And many you resonated with his response. So, if you’re traveling with a small group, you might want to think twice about this one. BoardWalk Inn This resort has its charm, but for some visitors, like our reader Nancy, it’s a marathon just to get to your room. She shared, “The very far end of Boardwalk. Those hallways are SOOO long with a stroller.” Disney’s BoardWalk Inn Anyone who’s pushed a stroller through Disney World knows that the struggle is real. The BoardWalk Inn has some beautiful perks like being close to EPCOT, but those never-ending hallways, well, not so much. So, if you’re carting around tired kiddos, this resort might leave you feeling like you’re getting way more than your average steps in for those days. Saratoga Springs Next up on the list, we’ve got Saratoga Springs which was another resort that didn’t quite win over all our readers. Our reader Kyle didn’t mince words: “I am sure this is unpopular opinion but Saratoga Springs near the Disney Springs side. HATED it. There was no drink fountain for the refill cups and I feel like it was closer to Disney Springs than it was to the main hotel. To this day we still call it Saratoga Sespool.” Saratoga Springs Well, when you’re paying Disney prices, the least you can expect is a convenient refill station, right? And being closer to Disney Springs than the main hotel didn’t help win any points either. Port Orleans Next, you had some thoughts about Port Orleans. Take our reader Keri for example. She shared, “I hate Port Orleans! The theming made the resort feel dirty and gross to me. I also felt the room decor made the room feel small (2017ish). It also just felt super weird to be walking past everyone dining at Boatwrights. Being that it was the only indoor path from the lobby to our room, I was constantly passing by. I’d have to say the gift shop was my favorite part of this resort. Port orleans is the one resort we’d never return to.” Disney’s Port Orleans Resort — Riverside Keri’s experience is proof that just about any Disney hotel can be a bit of a hit or miss. What some people find charming, others might find…well, a little yucky. Also, having to constantly walk through dining areas just to get to your room can get old fast. We will say, the rooms at Port Orleans French Quarter were recently renovated and this happens to be one of our favorite hotels in all of Disney World. It truly just shows that everyones preferences are different, and that’s ok! Caribbean Beach Resort Some hallways just don’t vibe with everyone. To that point, our reader Erik said, “I’m not a fan of any of the resorts with exterior (motel-style) hallways. Caribbean Beach is my least favorite. For that reason, I choose to stay at Deluxe (except for Saratoga or Old Key West) or Gran Destino Tower or Swan & Dolphin.” Caribbean Beach Resort There’s just something about those exterior walkways that might not scream “luxury.” Caribbean Beach Resort has its fans, but if you’re looking for a more secluded or deluxe experience, this may not be your cup of tea. All-Star Music The All-Star resorts are staple for many budget-conscious families, but sometimes they’re not always a hit. For example, our reader Jessica explained, “We just finished a stay at All-Star Music, we were in building 1, so right by the lobby! It was great, but I will say we’ve stayed there before and been ALL THE WAY in the back so really any resort that it takes 7-10 business days to get back to your room!” All-Star Music Resort It seems like these long walks from your room are a bit of a recurring theme with Disney World resorts. And honestly, who wants to feel like they’re walking halfway around the world after a long day at the parks? Animal Kingdom Lodge Last up, let’s talk about Animal Kingdom Lodge. While this resort is usually praised for its views of wildlife, our reader Lynette didn’t exactly love her stay. She mentioned, “Definitely Animal Kingdom Lodge. The rooms were so dated. And super uncomfortable. And far from EVERYTHING!” Animal Kingdom Lodge The resort’s distance from the rest of Disney World is perhaps it’s biggest trade-off for its unique and immersive experience. But if you’re not 100% there for the animals, you might find yourself feeling a bit too stranded. Also, no one wants to deal with uncomfortable, dated rooms after a long day in the parks. Animal Kingdom Lodge Those were just some of your thoughts on which hotel rooms are the worst in Disney World, and now we want to hear even more from you! Until then, keep it right here for all the latest Disney news! Also, follow us on Facebook to join in on the next discussion. We are obsessed with Disney food here at Disney Food Blog. We love it so much it is literally the name of our blog. So, when we see that new menu items have arrived at a Disney World restaurant, you know we HAVE to stop by and check them out! Pizzafari This time we are at Pizzafari in Disney’s Animal Kingdom to try out not one, but TWO new items that just debuted on the menu. We have been a bit disappointed in some new arrivals recently, but we have also found some new favorites, so we are here to give these new items a chance! Pizzafari is located in the Discovery Island area of Disney’s Animal Kingdom. The quick service restaurant offers a menu of Italian-American dishes for both lunch and dinner. This restaurant has a casual themed environment, and it does not lack in the color department. From the moment you walk inside you will be amazed by the colorful murals on the walls! New items have arrived! We are stopping by to try out TWO new menu items: Chicken Parmesan with Marinara Pasta and Creamy Pesto Chicken Pesto. We weren’t off to a good start based on looks, but as they always say, you can’t judge a book by its cover. The meals look like something you might get in a school cafeteria, but the true test will be how they taste! Let’s dive in First off, we are starting with the Chicken Parmesan with Marinara Pasta for $13.29. This dish is served with a slice of garlic bread. Chicken Parmesan with Marinara Pasta Like we said, first impressions aren’t exactly making our mouth water. We are getting microwavable meal vibes with this one. Unfortunately, it tasted just as bad as it looked. Everything is the dish was dull, and it severely lacked in the flavor department. Chicken Parmesan with Marinara Pasta There wasn’t anything in this dish that had good flavor. The breading on the chicken was not good, and the cheese and sauce had a terrible aftertaste. The garlic bread is the same Texas Toast you can get at the grocery store. While tasty bread, we were hoping for so much more for $13.29. We weren’t able to eat much of this meal, but here’s to hoping that the second dish is a bit better. Chicken Parmesan with Marinara Pasta Next up we tried the Creamy Pesto Chicken Pasta which also costs $13.29. It is also served with the same grocery store garlic bread. Creamy Pesto Chicken Pasta This one doesn’t look very appetizing either, but it is time to dive in regardless! We are happy to report that we enjoyed this dish much better than the Chicken Parmesan one. The chicken tasted the complete opposite of the Chicken Parmesan. It was fresh and it had a light chicken taste. Creamy Pesto Chicken Pasta We also liked the sauce that came with it. A lot of it was hidden on the bottom, but we enjoyed the creaminess. The sauce is more comparable to an alfredo sauce. We didn’t taste any pesto in it, but if you are looking for a creamy alfredo sauce this would be a good choice. This dish would be great for picky eaters as it is a plain, but comforting flavor. If you are wanting a more adventurous or flavorful dish, you would not like this very much. Creamy Pesto Chicken Pasta Overall, the Creamy Pesto Chicken Pasta was our favorite of the two, but it won’t be the most memorable dish you can find at Disney World. We were not fans of the Chicken Parmesan with Marinara Pasta and would recommend you choose something else on the menu. While these new menu items may not have received raving reviews, we are here to tell you that there is SO much good food at Disney World. Deck the boulevard! While there are still (*checks watch*) a few hours left of Halloween, the almost unbelievable truth is that spooky season 2024 is over, and the holidays are upon us! While we’re still just over a week away from the first Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party of the season, certain areas of Disney World are already being decked out in their Christmas best, including one of the resort’s theme parks! During our visit (on Halloween, ironically), we noticed the first signs of holiday decorations at Disney’s Hollywood Studios! HAPPY HOLIDAYS! The red and white stars were placed on lampposts up and down the park’s Sunset Boulevard (leading to the Tower of Terror). Stars! While the rest of the park’s decorations aren’t up yet… More decorations are coming! …the stars are a sign that Hollywood Studios will once again be decked out in the mid-century decorations we adore, likely in time for the start of Jollywood Nights on November 9th. Here’s a preview of what we’re expecting this year. There are so many holiday decorations to see! Speaking of Jollywood Nights, the event is returning to Hollywood Studios for a second year in a row, this time with a slew of new additions, including Glisten!, a special show on Hollywood Boulevard where international champion skaters will perform routines set to a holiday soundtrack, a rockin’ dance party at Pixar Place, a behind the scenes look at The Muppet Christmas Carol, new Character experiences, an exclusive Wondermade sweet treat, special event merchandise, and a Mandalorian character sighting in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge. It is finally here! Lightning Lane Premier Pass has debuted at Disney World! ©Disney We had the opportunity to try out the system at Disneyland last week, and yesterday, we tried out the Premier Pass in all four Disney World parks. After a day of riding every single attraction with a Lightning Lane, we gathered our thoughts to see if Lightning Lane Premier Pass was really worth it. Lightning Lane Premier Pass officially debuted on October 30th. This third Lightning Lane option allows you to ride every attraction within a park one time, eliminating the stress of return times and giving you more flexibility to plan your day. Mad Tea Party Lightning Lane This new option is only available to those staying at Deluxe Resorts and other select hotels. Like Lightning Lane Multi and Single Pass, it can be purchased seven days before check-in. While Premier Pass is limited to a select number of resort guests and sold in limited quantities, even if you stay at a Deluxe Resort, you are not guaranteed to be able to purchase it. Step-By-Step: How to Buy Lightning Lane Premier Pass on the Disney World App Lightning Lane Pricing for Premier Pass is high and varies based on the time of year and the park. Pricing is as follows: Magic Kingdom: $329-$449 plus tax Disney’s Animal Kingdom: $129-$199 plus tax EPCOT: $169-$249 plus tax Disney’s Hollywood Studios: $269-$349 plus tax Lightning Lane We tested this new system out on the first day in all four parks, and here is what we thought! Haunted Mansion Lightning Lane To start, it has a very high price jump from Lightning Lane Multi and Single Pass, and as expected, you still wait in the same Lightning Lane line and wait the same amount of time as someone who paid for Lightning Lane Multi or Single Pass. There is no extra “royal treatment” for this luxury service. It’s simply another way to skip the standby lines. Everything You Need to Know About Lightning Lanes in Disney World Lightning Lane So, should you splurge on this luxury service? Honestly, this is not realistic for the average family, and it’s not meant to be. There are so many excellent strategies for getting the most out of the other two Lightning Lane options (or you can rope-drop the parks and avoid paying to skip the lines altogether!). This is a luxury option, and you do NOT need it to be successful in Disney World. The ULTIMATE Guide to Planning A Walt Disney World Vacation Lightning Lane It is obviously very expensive, and it can be hard to justify the cost on top of the expense of tickets, hotel, and food. How Much Does a Disney World Vacation Cost in 2025? Now, a lot of people are comparing Disney’s new Premier Pass to Universal’s Express Pass, but we should point out that Universal operates a little differently than Disney, so it’s not a truly fair comparison. That said, many would have liked to see Disney offer “unlimited” access to the Lightning Lane at each attraction, instead of being limited to a one-time skip. Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway Lightning Lane Now, it was not all negative. Premier Pass is super easy to rely on and use. We were able to breeze through our day with the added flexibility of riding attractions when we wanted to. Since you do not have any return times to commit to, it would be easy to return to your resort to take a break during the day to eat, swim, or nap. Lightning Lane It was also nice that it included ALL the Lightning Lanes in a park, including Single Pass attractions. The Disney World Lightning Lanes That Will Be Impossible To Get in 2025…and How To Get Them Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind is included with EPCOT’s Lightning Lane Premier Pass Overall, if you are willing to pay hundreds of dollars, you are getting a very similar service that a V.I.P. Tour provides for a fraction of the cost. We did not wait more than 15 minutes in any lines. This is a good alternative for a V.I.P. Tour, and you do not have to worry about meeting a time requirement. We loved the added flexibility and found the service to be easy to use, but we just do not think it is realistic for most families. Especially when comparing it to the price point of Lighting Lane Multi and Single Pass. Winnie the Pooh Lightning Lane It has only been a day since Premier Pass started, so we will continue to keep an eye out to see if anything changes. For more Disney tips and news, make sure to continue to follow along with Disney Food Blog! Is Disney World Quietly Ruining Its Standby Lines? Will you be interested in trying our Lightning Lane Premier Pass? Let us know why or why not in the comments! A former Disney employee is being accused of hacking into Disney World’s menu creation software and making changes, including manipulating allergen information. Mr. Kamal’s Menu A criminal complaint was filed by the FBI that outlines the accusations against this former employee. A former Disney World employee, Michael Scheuer, has been accused of hacking into the third-party menu creation software used by Disney World to change the allergy information, add profanity, and change fonts to symbols. Scheuer used to work at Disney as a “Menu Production Manager” and was fired back in June 2024 for misconduct, according to the criminal complaint. ©Disney The criminal complaint states that Scheuer “knowingly and without authorization caused the transmission of a program, information, code, or command to a protected computer and intentionally caused damage.” Within the complaint, Disney is only referred to as “Company A,” but according to Michael Scheuer’s lawyer, the company mentioned in the complaint is, in fact, Disney. The Walt Disney Company headquarters in California The complaint explains how Scheuer accessed the Menu Creator’s servers to change a variety of things, including prices, adding profanity, altering menu QR codes, and changing fonts. Scheuer also made changes that “threatened public health and safety.” The former Disney World employee manipulated the allergen information on the menus to show that some items were safe for those with peanut allergies, even when they were not. Allergy Menu As a result of his actions, Disney took the Menu Creator software offline and utilized a manual process for 1-2 weeks. Additionally, Scheuer is accused of conducting attacks to disable the accounts of other Disney employees by “launching denial-of-service attacks against them.” These attacks began on August 29th and affected about 14 Disney employees who were continually locked out of their accounts. From August 29th through October 23rd (the date the criminal complaint was filed), Scheuer attempted more than 100,000 log-ins to these employee’s accounts. Menu at Les Halles Boulangerie The complaint noted that Scheuer interacted with several employees, or the employees were part of upper-level management. Disney estimated that Scheuer’s actions cost the company at least $150,000. Barcelona Lounge menu Scheuer is being accused of “knowingly causing the transmission of a program, information, code, or command to a protected computer and intentionally causing damage without authorization in excess of $5,000,” and a detention hearing is scheduled for November 5th, according to Forbes. Auntie Gravity’s Galactic Goodies Menu David Haas, Scheuer’s lawyer, made a statement to Forbes saying, “The allegations acknowledge that no one was injured or harmed. I look forward to vigorously presenting my client’s side of the story,” and that Scheuer had a “mental disability that caused a panic attack while he was at work.” Stay tuned to DFB for all your Disney World news. With the holidays just around the corner, I’ve been counting down the days that I can jump into the winter festivities! Luckily with Disney’s Blizzard Beach reopening November 4, there are going to be even more ways to have frosted fun under the Florida sun. Few places can bring to life a melting ski resort with immersive theming other than Walt Disney World, and the water park brings together family-friendly experiences and thrilling water attractions. It’s “snow-joke’’ that there is a lot to do at Disney’s Blizzard Beach, but here are seven ways I can’t wait to warm up my winter. 1. Experience the Thrill You might think The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror is the only way to drop several stories at Walt Disney World, but Summit Plummet is one of the world’s tallest and fastest free-fall waterslides that sends riders 12 stories almost straight down, rocketing through a darkened tunnel and into a massive spray of whitewater. 2. Frozen Fun for Families Looking for fun with the little tikes? For the first time in what feels like forever, the beloved characters from “Frozen’’ are inviting kids under four feet tall to step into their own “Frozen’’ adventure while enjoying water fun at Tike’s Peak. Roam across wading pools featuring whimsical depictions of Olaf and his Snowgie pals, engage in playful battles with pop-up water jets at Anna and Elsa’s igloo fortress, and go down slides designed just for them. 3. Teamboat Springs Thrills Enjoy the perfect thrill for everyone on Teamboat Springs. This unpredictable family raft ride offers a wild journey through twists and turns, navigating one of the longest waterslides in the world. It’s a must-ride for anyone seeking unforgettable memories with family and friends. 4. Relax on Cross Country Creek For those looking to unwind, Cross Country Creek offers a peaceful float along the 3,000-foot lazy river, winding through the park’s scenic landscapes. 5. Indulge in New Menu Items Indulge your taste buds with brand-new menu items that bring both savory and sweet flavors. At Warming Hut, guests will find lunch and dinner options, including the new barbecue pork sandwich with bacon and fried onion straws on a brioche bun. Sweet treats throughout the day include comfort flavors at Icee Expeditions with the new apple pie churro and praline sundae. For those already in the holiday spirit, the premium peppermint shake at Lotta Watta features a vanilla and chocolate milkshake with peppermint beverage syrup whipped cream, a brownie, and a cherry on top. 6. Float in Melt-Away Bay Experience relaxation in the heated one-acre wave pool, Melt-Away Bay. Float on inner tubes or splash around as gentle waves lap the shore. Mount Gushmore’s waterfalls create short, relaxing swells—ideal for lounging or swimming out to rocky outcrops to enjoy a refreshing waterfall. 7. Enjoy Repeat Visits Come back to the water parks again and again through May 23, 2025 with the Disney Water Parks Seasonal Pass. This limited-time special offer is back at only $79 plus tax, and allows you to discover even more ways to combine snow and sun through winter and into next year! One of my favorite parts about living in Florida is that fun in the sun is possible throughout the year, and this may be one of my favorite ways to experience a “snowy” winter day with my friends and family! Plus, 2025 travelers staying at a Disney Resorts Collection hotel can start their stay with a Water Park day with admission included on their check-in day, making it easier than ever to visit one of the incredible Disney Water Parks. Hope to catch you out there on the slopes! The post Counting Down to Disney’s Blizzard Beach Reopening appeared first on Disney Parks Blog. View the full article

Another change has come to Magic Kingdom, and its timing is pretty interesting. Tortuga Tavern We’ve seen LOTS of changes around Disney World lately, from newly-opened restaurants to complete menu overhauls and even closing attractions that will make way for some new updates. But these two important changes we just spotted have Disney fans talking, and we knew you needed to know about it, too! During a recent visit to Magic Kingdom, we came across two big changes in Adventureland. For context, lately, there’s been a lot of construction in Adventureland around Caribbean Plaza near the Pirates of the Caribbean ride and its former gift shop. Construction walls in Adventureland Disney’s popular pirate-themed gift shop closed shortly after construction walls went up in the area (possibly due to construction for a new pirate’s lounge set to debut in Adventureland). Around the same time, a nearby restaurant called Tortuga Tavern also closed. What things looked at Plaza del Sol Caribe Bazaar Tortuga Tavern was a solid stop for seasonal quick-service food, and its availability seemed to depend on the crowd levels in Magic Kingdom. When it was open, the hours of operation were typically shorter compared to some of its neighboring restaurants, like Golden Oak Outpost, Westward Ho Refreshments in Frontierland, and even Pecos Bill’s Tall Tale Inn & Cafe. Tortuga Tavern Full Spread However, when the gift shop merchandise needed to be moved out of the exit to the Pirates of the Caribbean attraction, we noticed that Tortuga Tavern closed to make way for a temporary new gift shop. This was when we noticed a banner renaming the former Tortuga Tavern space as Tortuga Treasures. Tortuga Treasures While the newly revised “shop” may have only been a temporary option, it offered similar pirate-themed merchandise and souvenirs previously sold at Plaza del Sol Caribe. Lots of stuff from across the street However, it seems that all has changed once again! We’ve once again noticed a BIG change in this area, and it seems that Disney World may not be completely done with Tortuga Tavern just yet. The banner hung on Tortuga Tavern’s sign has now reverted back into its original form… Tortuga Tavern is back …and the merchandise has also been moved back to its former shop area. While the construction walls remain, there seems to be enough room to shop around for all your pirate-y souvenirs. Merchandise has returned across the walkway It’s interesting to note that while we’re winding down some of the major fall holidays and getting ready to say goodbye to Halloween soon, Disney World has already been preparing for Christmas. In years past, Tortuga Tavern has joined the lineup of stops for free cookies and beverages during Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party, but we may just have to wait and see at the first party if this location decides to rejoin the festive fun or if this treat stop will be relocated in the park. Cookie stop at Tortuga Tavern For now, only time will tell if Tortuga Tavern will reopen seasonally soon and if they’ll offer the same menu they did before their brief closure. Either way, you know we’ll be keeping a close watch over this restaurant and its potential return! Start the music… ©TIME In a MAJOR shakeup in the music and entertainment industries, Disney struck a deal with the Recording Academy of America to air the Grammy Awards for ten years, beginning in 2027. As part of the deal, Disney will broadcast the awards shows on ABC, as well as both its Hulu and Disney+ streaming services. Disney’s acquisition of the broadcast rights for the Grammys will end an over 50-year relationship between the Recording Academy and CBS/Paramount, who’ve broadcast the music industry spectacle since 1973. According to Deadline, CBS (who last signed a 10-year-deal with the Recording Academy in 2016) had been interested in retaining the rights to the Grammys, but the two sides were unable to come to a new agreement during an exclusive contractual negotiating window, and Disney swooped in. Walt Disney Company Headquarters ©LA Times Disney Entertainment Co-Chairman Dana Walden said, “As The Walt Disney Company combines forces with The Recording Academy to open this exciting new chapter in the history of The Grammys, we do so with pride and gratitude. Live events have never been more important to our culture and industry, and we just acquired one of the crown jewels, adding to our portfolio of world-class programming across all genres.” ©Grammys Meanwhile, Harvey Mason Jr., Recording Academy CEO, added, “We are completely thrilled to be bringing The Grammys and other new music programming to the Disney ecosystem. We are grateful to our long-standing partners at CBS and now honored to be joining with Disney, an iconic company where creators have always been at the forefront. This partnership represents another important milestone in the Academy’s transformation and growth, and strengthens our ability to fulfill our mission of uplifting and serving music people around the world.” During the first year of the deal, Disney/ABC will air the Grammys, The Oscars, and the Super Bowl. CBS will broadcast the show during the final two years of its deal, including the 67th Grammy Awards, which will air on February 2nd. ©Grammys Disney has won the right to broadcast “music’s biggest night” on ABC and Disney+ and Hulu for a decade beginning in 2027. Disney World is constantly growing and changing these days. Spaceship Earth at EPCOT We’re getting several major park expansions in the next few years, as well as some hotel additions. You’ve got to accommodate the growing crowd of people planning their vacations to The Most Magical Place on Earth! And now, another Disney World location has announced a major expansion. The Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin Hotels are located in the EPCOT resort area, between the Yacht Club and the BoardWalk. These hotels are owned by Marriott, but they get many of the same perks that Disney World’s Deluxe Resorts get. They’re also popular spots for corporations and large groups to host conferences, due to their large convention center space. Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin But now, the Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin have announced a $275 million transformation featuring a new 120,000 square foot event space expansion. The convention property will have a new ballroom, additional convention space, upgrades to existing space, and renovated guest rooms. ©Marriott The entire project will take place over the next several years, and will include “modernized upgrades to existing meeting spaces and Swan guest rooms.” There will also be some technology enhancements throughout the property. Swan & Dolphin The expansion will bring the Swan and Dolphin’s total meeting space to 469,000 square feet between its three buildings — the Swan, Dolphin, and Swan Reserve. Add in the already 2,619 hotel rooms, and that will make this property one of the biggest convention spaces on the East Coast. “We look forward to delivering such a major transformation for our customers. These enhancements will be a great addition to our iconic and award-winning operation,” said Area General Manager Sean Verney. “It positions our property to remain at the forefront of meeting and convention venues globally.” Dolphin Lobby As far as the meeting space expansion goes, it will include a new two-story annex. It will have 41,000 square feet of multi-purpose space and 24,000 square feet of additional pre-function space, all connected to the building’s original convention space. The second floor will have a new ballroom, as well as a foyer. ©Marriott The entry to the new annex will feature an airy atrium with floor-to-ceiling windows, a grand staircase, and a stunning chandelier. This project should break ground in November with an expected completion date of late summer 2026. ©Marriott The second major project is an enhancement of the current event space. Ballrooms, carpeting, corridors and breakout spaces at the Walt Disney World Dolphin have recently completed, but work still needs to be done at the Swan. These renovations will be completed in phases but should be done by summer 2025. Inside the Swan Reserve And finally, we’ve got the hotel room renovation project! All guest rooms in the Walt Disney World Swan will be remodeled with luxury tile flooring and other new style choices. These room renovations should be completed in late 2024. ©Marriott So there you have it — all the details on the major updates coming to the Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin! It has been a long time coming, but The Cake Bake Shop has officially soft opened on Disney World’s BoardWalk! The Cake Bake Shop We have been going to this new spot to try so many different treats! We had breakfast and dinner, and of course, we had to try the controversial $23 slices of cake. While there has been backlash from Disney fans about the menu pricing, we have to say that The Cake Bake Shop serves up delicious meals and baked goods. It may not be an everyday restaurant, but it is a great place to celebrate a special occasion. And speaking of celebrating, on top of being a bakery and restaurant, you can also grab a drink at The Cake Bake Shop’s champagne bar! If you are looking to grab a drink while you are visiting the BoardWalk, look no further than The Cake Bake Shop! Like the rest of the restaurant, the bar is gorgeous, with beautiful white detailing and accents of gold and silver. The Bar The bar offers all sorts of drinks, including champagne, wine, cocktails, and beer, so of course, we had to try a drink for ourselves! Let’s grab a drink! We went the champagne route and ordered the Bellini for $18.99, which came with St. Hilaire Brut sparkling wine, peach liqueur, and peach purée. Bellini This drink was gold and incredible. It was crisp and had a very light taste. The peach puree was present, but it was not overbearingly sweet or too peachy. As expected, it is fizzy and bubbly, making it a great drink for breakfast and brunch and even an after-dinner dessert drink. So delicious! As mentioned, it is $18.99, which is pricey, but alcohol at Disney World is typically priced higher. This drink is a little elevated, as it had edible glitter, which made us feel fancy. We loved this drink! We would 100% order this drink again and can’t wait to continue to return to The Cake Bake Shop to try all their yummy baked goods and menu items! Stop by the bar for a drink at The Cake Bake Shop! The wait is over! Disney World’s newest restaurant quietly opened recently! The Cake Bake Shop The Cake Bake Shop opened October 24th, and we have been lucky enough to try the bakery, breakfast, lunch and the champagne bar there! This is an elegant dining location, perfect for celebrating special occasions. And now, it’s about to get easier to dine there. This is a pricey restaurant, and our readers have spoken out about the menu prices. In fact, the Cake Bake Shop posted a menu and then revised that menu a few days before opening — lowering many of the menu prices. You can expect to spend $23 for a giant cake slice… Millionaire’s Cake …or $29 for a Croque Madame made with country bread, French ham, Gruyère cheese, and Maille Dijon mustard topped with béchamel sauce, and a farm fresh sunny side up fried egg and served with an arugula salade dressed with homemade lemon vinaigrette and topped with Parmesan cheese. Croque Madame For dinner, you might try Three Cheese Cavatappi w/ Basil Breadcrumbs which costs $23.99. The dish blends Gruyère, Vermont sharp cheddar, and a touch of bleu cheese which is melted in a homemade cream sauce with applewood smoked bacon folded into cavatappi pasta. It is topped with toasted basil breadcrumbs and baked to perfection. The cavatappi is served with a freshly toasted half French baguette and salted European butter. Three Cheese Cavatappi w/ Basil Breadcrumbs We have enjoyed all the food we have had here, and we are eager to go back and try this restaurant again. One thing is for sure — the surroundings are opulent. The chandeliers Everything here glistens — even some of the food! The Pumpkin Spice Latte with Almond Milk twas made with wo shots of Illy espresso with pumpkin pie syrup and steamed milk sprinkled with pumpkin spice for $7.99. It was glittery. It also had a cute presentation with the cinnamon and it came with a cinnamon sugar donut hole. Pumpkin Spice Latte You can expect to spend $50-$100 per person at Cake Bake Shop, depending on whether you choose appetizers and dessert (trust us, you can share these!), and whether you order cocktails. Speaking of those cocktails… Bellini …we asked to sit in the champagne bar on one of our visits, where we had a Bellini ($18.99) made with St. Hilaire Brut sparkling wine, Giffard Creme de Péche de vigne, and peach puree. If you’re celebrating a special occasion at Disney World, The Cake Bake Shop is a new place to try — just remember that at least for now, you can’t make reservations here through Disney World. You’ll need to go to OpenTable. Click below to read our reviews of The Cake Bake Shop: Is Dinner at The Cake Bake Shop Worth the Price Tag?
