Disney’s theme parks change all the time; this is a common thing at all of them around the world. Fantasy Springs Arendelle castle in Tokyo Disney Sea Rides we love can close to make way for new ones, and even entire lands can get re-themed into something brand new. This isn’t a new concept for Disney, but it can be hard to accept. Now, one ride over at Tokyo Disneyland will officially be closing in Tomorrowland forever so that a new ride may take its place. Tomorrow, October 31st, marks the last day to ride Buzz Lightyear’s Astro Blasters at Tokyo Disneyland. This ride, which opened in 2004, was a variation of the ride Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin in Disneyland. Space Ranger Spin (Disney World) The ride will officially be closing because Wreck-It Ralph is moving in. The new attraction will open in 2026 and will “allow guests to “enter the candy-themed racing game Sugar Rush, which is being attacked by Sugar Bugs – glitches created by King Candy. Guests team up with the beloved film characters Ralph and Vanellope to transform the Sugar Bugs back to their original “kawaii” confectionery such as cookies and cakes.” ©Disney Based on the concept art, it’s likely that the Buzz Lightyear ride system will be used in the new ride and that the former blasters will be used to “transform the Sugar Bugs.” ©Disney If you love the Buzz Lightyear rides, you don’t have to worry too much. There are still versions of this ride at Disney World, Disneyland, Disneyland Paris, and Shanghai Disneyland. Previously, Hong Kong Disneyland had one as well, but it closed in 2017 and was replaced by an Ant-Man and the Wasp attraction. Buzz Lightyear Space Ranger Spin (Disney World) However, if you’re hoping to ride the Buzz Lightyear ride at Tokyo Disneyland, you’ll only have one more day to it! It’s never fun to lose a ride, but it can be exciting to finally experience the new one. For more Disney news, keep following DFB! Premier Pass is HERE… and there’s an issue. Okay, that may be dramatic — but stick with us. ©Disney Earlier this fall, Disney announced the new Lightning Lane Premier Pass option. The system, which was first used at Disneyland earlier in October before debuting at Walt Disney World on the 30th of the month, “allows one-time entry to each Lightning Lane experience in a theme park” so that they can enjoy each attraction at their leisure. The experience doesn’t come cheap, however, as they cost between $129 and $329 depending on the park the first day they were offered. Prices weren’t the only issue on day one. Specifically, once you scan your phone at a given attraction’s entrance, you join the same line that’s being used by Lightning Lane Multi Pass and Single Pass. While these waits are usually pretty short, it’s still the same exact experience and wait. ©Disney So, the only “extra” benefits for using the Premier Pass are the ability to ride every eligible attraction whenever you want, as opposed to needing to schedule a specific time. While those are definitely benefits, it’s arguable as to whether they’re enough to justify the large price jump from the Multi Pass and Single Pass Lightning Lane to the Premier Pass. ©Disney The Lightning Lane Premier Pass has debuted at Walt Disney World, and we ran into an issue with the expensive new pass option. Disney’s New SLEEPING BEAUTY LOUNGE Is Now Open!
Disney4me posted a topic in Disney Food/Restaurants
For all the classic Disney movie and Disney Princess fans out there, we’ve got a spot you HAVE to visit. Disneyland Hotel Disneyland, like Disney World, has some hidden lounges that are top tier, and you won’t want to miss out on them. There aren’t as many as in Disney World, of course, since the resort is smaller, but that doesn’t mean these lounges are any less iconic. If you’re a big Sleeping Beauty fan, there’s a lounge in Disneyland Hotel that you’ve got to check out! The lounge is called the Broken Spell Lounge and is inspired by none other than the iconic and beloved Sleeping Beauty film. To the Broken Spell Lounge! This lounge space debuted last year, but it’s only been the “Lobby Lounge” for the longest time. Now, however, it’s officially the Broken Spell Lounge, and it’s officially open for guests to enjoy. According to Disneyland’s website, the lounge is typically open from 4PM to 12AM each day of the week. ©Disney This lounge features forest green carpeting with walls and chairs that feature beautiful (and spooky, if we’re being honest) trees, really bringing the theme to life. The Lounge! We love how all the seating is so comfy as well, even the seats at the bar look like they’ll treat you well for a longer-than-usual stay — maybe so long that you’ll wonder if there’s another spell keeping you there! Broken Spell Lounge On the menu, you’ll find a large selection of wine, beer, specialty cocktails, flights, and an assortment of bites. We weren’t terribly impressed by our last visit here, if we’re being honest, but that was a whole year ago, so we’re more than willing to give it another chance. The first signs of Christmas are officially appearing in Disney World! Disney’s Animal Kingdom We recently spotted the iconic gingerbread house at Disney’s Grand Floridian being constructed, which is a good sign that Disney World is getting ready to haul out the holiday decor! But when we headed to Disney’s Animal Kingdom to try out the brand new Lightning Lane Premier Pass, we spotted some of our all-time favorite winter decorations. A lot of Disney World’s holiday decorations arrive every year around the beginning of November since it takes a LONG time to get everything up. There are a few things that we have come to expect to see that continuously bring us joy. For example, the massive Christmas trees at each of the parks and hotels are a marvelous sight to be seen. The Christmas tree at Disney’s Animal Kingdom 2023 Some of our favorite holiday decorations can be spotted at Animal Kingdom, and while the Christmas tree isn’t up yet, a few of the smaller but beautiful details are shown up! The animal lanterns are back up on the roof of Discover Trading Company, and their glow is simply breathtaking. Animal lanterns at Discover Trading Company Since we were there bright and early in the morning, we got to see their pretty glow lighting up their faces. These are simple yet beautiful, which is why they are some of our favorite decorations. Deer and Fox lanterns If the lanterns and the Merry Menagerie (life-sized animal puppets that come out for the holidays) are some of your favorite holiday decorations at Disney World, you’re definitely not alone! Merry Menagerie We happen to love them so much that we designed an entire merchandise collection after them! If you head over to the DFB Store, you’ll find a set of adorable tumblers, shirts, blankets, and more themed to the Merry Menagerie. There are lots of sizes of clothes, including infant, children, and adult. Merry Menagerie Sweater The tumblers are especially adorable and perfect for a winter beverage. It’s so cute! Or, if you want to hang the cute design on your tree, add an ornament near a light to watch it glow like the lanterns! The Walt Disney Company’s Chief Digital and Technology Officer at Disney Experiences, Gail Evans, has passed away. ©Disney | Walt Disney Company Headquarters Disney journalist Scott Gustin reported the news on October 30th. Evans joined The Walt Disney Company two years ago. Before coming to Disney, Evans worked at Mercer, a financial services company. Gail Evans acted as the Executive Vice President and Chief Digital and Technology Officer for Disney Experiences and led a team dedicated to the development and implementation of digital and technology strategies for Disney Experiences businesses. This included products and experiences like MagicBand+ and Hey Disney!, which have grown to be used throughout the Walt Disney World Resort. Evans previously acted as the first Chief Digital Officer at Mercer and has held senior leadership positions at Microsoft, Hewlett Packard, and Bank of America. She also previously worked at Eastman Kodak Company, serving as the CIO of Eastman Kodak’s Consumer Digital business. She received a bachelor’s degree from Nazareth College and an MBA from the University of Rochester’s Simon Business School. According to Disney, she also “proudly holds an Honorary Doctor of Humane Letters from Nazareth College.” ©Disney Evans was recognized as a finalist for the MIT Sloan CIO Leadership Award in 2019, and in 2018, Evans received the Phenom Award from the Digital Diversity Network, honoring trailblazers in the digital media and technology field. In addition to several other awards and recognitions, Evans was part of the Netflix documentary Working: What We Do All Day. Outside of work, Evans was passionate about mentoring the next generation of women leaders in technology. She led programs to help build a more inclusive workplace and was involved with MIT’s Center for Information Systems Research, where she helped connect academic research with real-world practices. Our thoughts are with Evans and her family at this time. The post NEWS: Disney Experiences Leader Gail Evans Has Passed Away first appeared on the disney food blog. View the full article

When you’re watching your favorite show, don’t you just wish there was a way to share your favorite scenes? ©Netflix Honestly, we’d just share the scene in Agatha All Along where the witches sing “The Witches’ Road” a million times. Or maybe we’d love to share the scene in Inside Out 2 when Anxiety goes spinning out of control (same, Anxiety, same). Maybe we just want to highlight our favorite moments from Wizards of Waverly Place (yes, yes, we do). Imagine if that were possible. Well, Netflix has figured out how to let users share scenes…and we need Disney+ to do the same. According to Variety, Netflix just rolled out a new mobile feature that lets you share your favorite scenes from TV shows and movies with your friends. The feature is called “Moments” and lets Netflix subscribers save, rewatch, and share their favorite scenes across ALL of Netflix’s titles. So if you want to share some favorite moments from Bridgerton, now you can. ©Netflix Netflix said, “With Moments, members can quickly bookmark a scene while watching on their phone, saving it directly to their My Netflix tab for easy access later. Members can also share their favorite scenes across platforms like Instagram and Facebook, creating a seamless way to engage with their favorite content and share it with friends. We’re excited to add even more features in the future to help members enjoy and share their favorite Netflix moments.” Netflix even released a star-studded TV ad showing off the new feature. Watch Giancarlo Esposito, Simone Biles, and Cardi B talking about how they plan on using Moments. Moments is now available on iOS devices, with a rollout coming to Android coming soon. Now, all we have to ask is: when can we get this for Disney+? We need to share our favorite scenes from Loki, Andor, The Simpsons, Taylor Swift’s | The Eras Tour, Hamilton, and more! Disney World is CHANGING in 2025. We’re talking BIG changes. First, we’re going to start seeing construction soon in Magic Kingdom for the Cars expansion and the new Villains land. Grand Floridian Resort Then we’re going to see the debut of a new Zootopia show in Animal Kingdom, as well as a new Villains show in Hollywood Studios. Oh, then there’s a new nighttime parade coming to Magic Kingdom, too. Test Track will reopen with a brand new look and feel! However, these changes aren’t just happening in the parks. Disney World hotels are changing, too. Hotels will be more expensive We’ve already seen scores of price increases on tickets, Annual Passes, and food happen at Disney World recently, so it’s not a big stretch to expect to pay more for hotel rooms. Of course, you’ll still be able to nab good deals, especially if you’re visiting at less busy times of the year. You’ll want to keep an eye out for promotions (and you can track those right here on DFB, too). Port Orleans — Riverside Room Also, valet parking at hotels has increased from $39 to $42, so you’ll want to keep that in mind, too. Why You’ll Regret Staying At These Disney World Hotels in 2025 Island Tower will be open The new Disney Vacation Club (DVC) villas at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort, Island Tower, opens in December 2024. That means you’ll be able to stay at Island Tower in 2025 and have access to some new rooms, activities, dining, and more. That also means that it could be pretty busy around the Polynesian as everyone will be wanting to check out all the new stuff. Island Tower construction If you’re a DVC member or someone who just needs space for a larger group, Island Tower might be exactly the perfect fit for your next trip. FULL TOUR of a 2-Bedroom Suite at Disney’s NEW Polynesian Village Resort Island Tower New water parks perk If you stay at a Disney World hotel during your 2025 Disney World trip, a new perk will be available to you. You’ll get FREE tickets to a Disney World water park (either Typhoon Lagoon or Blizzard Beach, whichever one is open at the time) to use on your day of arrival at the resort. Blizzard Beach Note that this is ONLY good for your arrival day, but it might mean you’ll want to get to Disney World earlier in the day, so plan your travel accordingly. This perk is in addition to the Early Theme Park Entry perk and the Extended Evening Hours perk for deluxe hotel guests. The Ultimate Disney World Water Park Packing List Pool Closures You’ll also want to make sure you’re aware of pool closures that are happening in 2025. So far, we know of two, and one of them is at a SUPER popular pool. Stormalong Bay, which is the pool that Disney’s Yacht Club and Beach Club Resorts share, will be closed from January through April 2025. Stormalong Bay You’ll also need to know that Bay Cove Pool at Disney’s Contemporary Resort will also be closed from January 26th through early May 2025. We’re Letting You in on a Disney World Hotel Pool Secret Construction Some hotels will also be under construction during 2025. First up, Disney’s Port Orleans Resort — French Quarter is updating some rooms with work expected to be completed in spring 2025. That means you’ll see or hear construction work during daytime hours. New rooms at Port Orleans Resort — French Quarter Bay Lake Tower at Disney’s Contemporary Resort is also currently under construction with work expected to last an entire year into 2025. Finally, Disney’s Yacht Club Resort is updating its rooms, so construction will be going on there from January through May 2025. “Looks More Like a Value Resort.” Fans Are DIVIDED Over the NEWEST Disney World Hotel Rooms Lightning Lane Premier Pass If you’re staying at a deluxe Disney World hotel, you’ll have the opportunity to purchase Lightning Lane Premier Pass, a new pass that allows you to skip the standby lines at Disney World parks and use those rides’ Lightning Lanes. This pass differs form Lightning Lane Multi Pass and Lightning Lane Single Pass in that you can use it at anytime during the day you purchase it for and it includes both Multi Pass and Single Pass rides. ©Disney The Premier Pass, though, is pricey. It will cost you anywhere from $129 per person per day to $449 per person per day depending on the park and date you purchase it for. 2 MAJOR MISTAKES We Made with Lightning Lane Premier Pass – Watch Out For These in Disney World! Hotel cancellation policy change Disney World’s hotel cancellation policy is changing in 2025. The old policy allowed you to cancel your stay in as little as five days without penalty. However, the new 2025 cancellation policy requires you to cancel your stay at least eight days before your trip or you could lose part of your refund. Disney’s Pop Century Resort However, if you’ve booked a vacation package with park tickets and hotel reservations, the policy remains the same. You can cancel the entire package up to 30 days from your arrival date and receive a full refund. If you cancel from two to 20 days, though, you will be charged a $200 cancellation fee. If you cancel the day before or on the day of your arrival, you’ll lose the entire cost of your vacation package. Learn more about the new cancellation policy here Make sure you look carefully at discounts We noticed a new trend for 2025 Disney World discounts. A new early bird hotel discount was recently released for 2025 hotel stays that could save you up to 25% off hotel stays, except at select resorts. Generally, value resorts are excluded, but this time, we spotted an exception in the discount. All-Star Sports Resort If you book a stay with this discount at Disney’s All-Star Resorts, you can still get 20 to 25% off your stay, rather than the usual 10 to 15% off that you get if you stay at the other All-Star locations. It might be worth it to book All-Star Sports if you’re looking at one of the All-Star hotels for your 2025 trip. So when you see discounts posted, read the fine print. 3 Upcoming Dates To AVOID the All-Star Sports Hotel in Disney World If you’re booking a trip to Disney World in 2025, be sure to check out our discounts and deals page so you know what’s available. We keep it updated when new deals and discounts are announced, so you can stay informed on how to score some deals on your next Disney World trip. Stay tuned to DFB for more. Don’t Worry. Magic Kingdom Today, October 30th, Disney is officially launching its new Lightning Lane Premier Pass service over in Disney World, and we’re here to try it out. Last week, it launched in Disneyland, and we checked it out, but now it’s time to find out if this new offering for skipping the long lines on the East Coast is worth the cost. Let’s go! Purchasing Lightning Lane Premier Pass On its debut day, October 30th, the pricing for each park is listed as: Magic Kingdom — $329 plus tax EPCOT — $169 plus tax Hollywood Studios — $269 plus tax Animal Kingdom — $129 plus tax ©Disney Seven days before you check in, you will want to be in the My Disney Experience app at 7 AM ET. On debut day, the app said that Premier Pass would be coming soon, even though it was 7 AM. ©Disney We were able to dismiss this message and still purchase. By 7:35 AM, the message had changed to “Now Available.” We are sure this was just a glitch and will be fixed, but just know that you can dismiss this message and should still be able to purchase. ©Disney Depending on your My Disney Experience App, Lightning Lane Premier Pass may be an option for you to click on your home screen. If it does not show up, you can search for it in the app. Then choose your date, the park you want to purchase, everyone in your party you want to purchase it for, then continue to purchase the pass. ©Disney You can confirm your purchase on your home screen or you can view it under “My Day.” ©Disney We did notice that you can only purchase Premier Pass for one park per day per person. So once you’ve purchased a park for that day for someone, you can’t add another park later on in your day. If you plan on Park Hopping, you’ll need to purchase Lightning Lane Multi Pass for your next park if you wish to use the Lightning Lanes. ©Disney Step-By-Step: How to Buy Lightning Lane Premier Pass on the Disney World App Using Lightning Lane Premier Pass Be forewarned that while Premier Pass is expensive, the actual process when you arrive at the attraction is the same. You’ll still redeem at the Lightning Lane entrance and join the same Lightning Lane queue that you would if you were using Lightning Lane Multi Pass or Lightning Lane Single Pass. There are no additional perks beyond the normal Lightning Lane usage. Lightning Lane at Haunted Mansion You’ll find a list of all the available rides for your day in the app, and as you ride each one it is removed from your list of available experiences. ©Disney Shows that are included in Lightning Lane Premier Pass show up with all the available times and instruct you to arrive at least 10 minutes early. Under your available experiences, there is a list of redeemed experiences. The app seems to keep track of your available and redeemed experiences very well, and when we tried to redeem a ride twice it indicated we had already ridden it accurately. ©Disney We’ll be testing it out all day, so stay tuned right here for live updates of the new Lightning Lane Premier Pass! Alright Disney, let’s have a little chat. ©Disney It appears that Disney+ is on the up and up financially after finally becoming profitable, but that doesn’t mean all is well with the streaming platform. Disney recently raised subscription prices and has been cracking down on password sharing, upsetting many of its users. However, Disney maximizing profits is not a new phenomenon. Instead, the issue that needs discussing is Disney+’s content quality problem. Whether or not you love everything Disney+ puts out content-wise, I feel like it’s fair to say that from the general critics’ and fans’ perspectives, Disney+ objectively has a content issue. With response varying tremendously from project to project, it lacks original quality consistency when compared to competitors like Apple TV or HBO. Let’s take a look at what I mean by that and how Disney+ can get back on track to win over audiences! ©Disney Before causing an uproar accusing Disney of having a content issue on its streaming service, I have to interject that I don’t find Disney+ shows to be an affront to humanity like the internet may suggest they are. Some shows have really stuck with me such as WandaVision while others didn’t really do it for me (Secret Invasion). Personally, I’m overall satisfied with the original content Disney+ has given us, but as an unbiased observer, it’s impossible to ignore that general audiences have had much more severe reactions to perceived misses. ©Marvel Right now, Disney+ has a banger on its hands with Agatha All Along which boasts a super-respectable 82% critics and audience scores on Rotten Tomatoes. However, we’re not far removed from Star Wars: The Acolyte, which has a meager 18% audience score and was canceled despite having a massive budget and solid critic scores (78%). It’s true that for many Disney projects both on Disney+ and in theaters, there is a pretty big divide between audiences and the critics. However, the former drives the industry, so if you aren’t appeasing them, you’re not experiencing heightened success. ©Disney So why aren’t audiences falling in love with every Disney+ project? Some claim it has to do with a “woke agenda”. This topic has come up more than once, even causing The Walt Disney Company CEO Bob Iger to say the “primary mission needs to be to entertain” and that he’s “very serious about that. It should not be agenda-driven. It should be entertainment-driven. That should be the goal in all of our stories.” From this writer’s perspective, I think that’s an oversimplification of Disney+’s original content struggles to positively engage audiences. I don’t think the content produced by Disney+ suffers from any sort of political messaging, but instead by missteps in the pre-production process. Allow me to explain… ©Disney The new creative head of DC Studios at Warner Bros., James Gunn, knows a thing or two about Disney entertainment. Once considered the right-hand man of Marvel Studios’ Kevin Feige, Gunn was brought in by Warner to bring DC content up to the standards the Marvel Cinematic Universe set. In his first phase at DC, Gunn has made it public that DC Studios has no intention to oversaturate audiences. A few shows and movies each year help maintain quality control, according to Gunn. Showrunners and movie execs at Marvel and Lucasfilm have vocally agreed that cutting back content is probably a good idea after facing tons of backlash regarding quality over the past several years. But are they actually practicing what they’re preaching? In 2025 alone, Marvel is releasing Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man, Daredevil: Born Again, Ironheart, Eyes of Wakanda, Marvel Zombies, and Wonder Man on Disney+. ©Marvel I know that if you keep throwing darts at a board, you’ll eventually hit a bullseye but you may also miss pretty ridiculously at times. Disney would work up better audience relations if it only released a few shows each year but each show was universally praised. Quality over quantity will always ring true, as platforms like HBO have shown us. Another problem with oversaturation is that really great content can get easily overlooked. There’s only so much time in a day, and a sliver of that time will be spent on entertainment. We pick and choose what we want to watch and some shows will be left out in the dust because of that, unfortunately. Narrowing down options slightly to projects Disney really believes in helps create credibility while uplifting content that might’ve otherwise been skipped. ©Disney/Marvel Part of quality control is consistency. I hate to keep bringing up HBO but it is the standard-bearer when it comes to television content. HBO generally has the luxury of creating content that doesn’t intersect with each other. The Penguin has nothing to do with The Last of Us. But because of the way Disney has leaned into franchise continuity, its content is under much more scrutiny. She-Hulk: Attorney at Law ties into WandaVision which ties into Spider-Man Homecoming which now ties into Deadpool & Wolverine which now all of a sudden ties into the Blade franchise. The same can be said about all the storylines anything Star Wars must connect to. The point is that Disney has knee-capped itself with its content. Creating a roadmap for franchises is easy when it’s just a couple of films and shows, but for its big money-makers, these stories have exploded into several different threads that are seriously hard to follow, even for the creators. ©Marvel Fans nowadays are getting confused because they missed a show or movie and are now out of the loop, the stories retcon a previous plot point established in a franchise, or the writing isn’t comprehensive enough to consider something that was established over a decade ago. One solution is to create more standalone content. It’s so refreshing to watch something without needing to do homework. And if something must be included in a specific timeline, double down on story approvals. Creators have to do their homework to make sure character decisions and plot points make sense within the universes in which they exist. Unfortunately for these giant franchises, that’s the price of oversaturation these last several years. Not only that but days of winging it have to be over. When the MCU was in its heyday, the team at Marvel had an Endgame in mind. The original content at Disney+ should fit that mold so that it serves a purpose and adds cohesion to its respective franchise. ©Lucasfilm With that said, I still think standalone original content is the way to go with Disney+ content. If Disney wants to keep pumping out series after series, releasing a couple big-time franchise shows with tons of standalone shows from other properties like Pixar and Disney Animation each year would be an effective route. Marvel, for example, has played around with and will continue to explore multiverse stories that slightly tie into the mainline MCU without being canon or must-watch, and I personally think that takes a lot of stress off the viewers while allowing show creators to really have fun with the material. ©Pixar The more Disney+ can allow storytellers creative freedom without the confines of decades’ worth of rigid storytelling, the better off we’ll be as viewers. When sitting in on the Marvel animation panel at this year’s D23 fan expo, I listened to so many creators talk about how passionate they are about their projects and it was a reminder that creative freedom often leads to the best content. ©Marvel Alright, so we’ve talked about how Disney+ needs to scale back on its shows, really hone in on quality control, try to create more standalone content, and create more long-term game plans for its mega franchises. However, there’s one more thing Disney+ needs to do to win over audiences: create tonal variety. We’ve already started to see Disney+ do a little bit of this with Daredevil: Born Again, Werewolf by Night, and Marvel Zombies. The idea here is to create something for everyone. The platform can offer plenty of kid-friendly shows, entertainment for teens, and heavier content for adults. The idea is to simply cast a wider audience net. As Disney continues to tighten its grip on the film industry, it needs to be willing to cater to all kinds of content demand. ©Disney We’ve seen Disney start to embrace that mindset recently. Disney+ is no longer shying away from R-rated content, nor is it moving off its child-friendly offerings. By offering parental locks, the platform frees itself from its previous confines and can truly become a multi-faceted streaming service. The key to any good media library is to appeal to niche audiences while simultaneously making the broad base happy. I personally see Disney+ trending in this direction and it gives me hope that fans will warm up more to the service in the future. ©Disney All in all, I think frustration stems from the fact that we’ve seen some really top-notch quality on Disney+ and it’s disappointing when that quality isn’t consistent. Disney is still figuring out this new frontier, but I’m hoping it finds the right formula and provides winners consistently. How do you feel about Disney+ content? Lightning Lane Premier Pass debuts in Disney World on October 30th. Cinderella Castle Disney introduced Lightning Lane Multi Pass and Lightning Lane Single Pass on July 24th, 2024. Multi Pass is an optional, paid service that allows you to book reservations to “skip the line” at many rides throughout Disney World. Single Pass is another optional, paid service reserved for Disney World’s most popular rides, and allows you to book a reservation to ride one of those uber popular rides (like Rise of the Resistance or Flight of Passage). Now comes Lightning Lane Premier Pass — a premium, paid service that starts October 30th. And now, we know what pricing looks like for this top tier of Lightning Lane passes! As we said, we now know the exact pricing for Lightning Lane Premier Pass on its first day — October 30th. The prices look like this: Lightning Lane Premier Pass Pricing Magic Kingdom — $329 plus tax EPCOT — $169 plus tax Hollywood Studios — $269 plus tax Animal Kingdom — $129 plus tax Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway Lightning Lane Keep in mind those prices are per person, and only guests staying in Disney World Deluxe Resorts, Deluxe Villas and other select hotels are able to buy the Premier Pass. So, why would you want it? Premier Pass allows you to experience every attraction with a Lightning Lane in one park — without making reservations. You just show up and scan in. This includes both Multi Pass and Single Pass attractions. We’ve got a full list of the rides included right here. Lightning Lane at MuppetVision*3D Just like Disney World tickets, Lightning Lane Multi Pass, and Lightning Lane Single Pass, prices for Premier Pass will change based on demand. Days Disney expects a larger crowd means a higher price. Previously, Disney had said the price range for Premier Pass would be: Magic Kingdom: $329-$449 plus tax Disney’s Animal Kingdom: $129-$199 plus tax EPCOT: $169-$249 plus tax Disney’s Hollywood Studios: $269-$349 plus tax The October 30th prices are at the bottom of those price ranges, so we can expect to see higher prices as we move into the holiday season. Winnie the Pooh Lightning Lane Disney has said that the Lightning Lane Premier Pass will be available in “very limited quantities.” The translation here is that Disney does not want to sell very many of these passes — which is part of the reason they are priced at a premium. If everyone had a skip-the-line pass with no reservation required, it would be even more difficult for Disney to manage wait times. Haunted Mansion Lightning Lane The Premier Pass is not the right fit for everyone, but it could make sense for you in certain situations. The DFB team will be in the parks October 30th, learning the ins and outs of the new offering, and you can count on us to bring you the good, the bad, and the ugly of what we find. Another Disney World hotel is getting an upgrade. New rooms coming to the Island Tower. A brand-new hotel tower is getting ready to open at Disney Polynesian Village Resort, Fort Wilderness got new cabins this year, and newly renovated rooms are debuting at Port Orleans French Quarter. And now we’re learning about a $275 million expansion at another Disney World hotel. The Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin plans to expand its convention space by 120,000 square feet, as well as renovating the hotel rooms at the Swan and existing meeting rooms. Swan & Dolphin The Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin hotels are located in the EPCOT Resort Area at Disney World. They are connected to EPCOT and Hollywood Studios by the Friendship Boats and walking paths. One of the reasons we love the Swan and Dolphin is that this hotel is on Disney World property, but it’s owned by Marriott. So you can use and earn hotel points here! Swan and Dolphin Hotel The Swan and Dolphin Hotel complex, which also includes the Swan Reserve hotel that opened in November 2021, is very popular for business conferences and meetings. Right now, the hotels have 333,000 square feet of meeting space, and the new expansion will bring that total to 469,000 square feet. Concept art According to Prevue Meetings, a new two-story annex will be added to connect the existing meeting space. The expansion will include multi-purpose space and a ballroom. Swan and Dolphin Some of the renovations are already underway, including a new color palette of white, blue, gray and natural wood in the existing ballrooms and breakout rooms, as well as the addition of luxury tile flooring and new decor in the Swan hotel rooms. The hotel says the room renovations will be completed this year. Swan and Dolphin The convention space expansion is expected to break ground in November and be completed in 2026. We are headed to eat in Italy! Italy Pavilion in EPCOT And since we are DFB, you can probably already guess that means we are headed to the Italy Pavilion in EPCOT to dine our hearts out. Of course, we are taking you along with us, so let’s see where we are dining! We are headed over to Tutto Italia Ristorante in EPCOT to feast on some authentic Italian cuisine. This restaurant features a richly decorated dining room in the middle of the Italy Pavilion. You can dine on a variety of Italian food including Parmigiana, Gnocchi Sorrentina, and sip on a large selection of wines and cocktails. Tutto Italia While Tutto Italia is one of the pricier restaurants in EPCOT, in past reviews we have felt like it had some of the best Italian food in Disney World. However, we are back to put the restaurant to the test, so let’s head on over! Atmosphere You can find Tutto Italia in the middle of the Italy Pavilion. The restaurant is located right next to the Tutto Gusto Wine Cellar, which is a cozy wine bar that boasts over 200 bottles of Italian wines and small plates. Entrance Inside of Tutto Italia you will find a richly decorated dining area with a warm and cozy Old World ambiance. The restaurant features lots of warm colors and woodwork throughout. The walls are also adorned in beautiful paintings. You will feel like you have been transported to Italy once you step inside (just pretend all the Disney World apparel is a coincidence!) Dining Room The carpet continues the cozy ambiance and features lots of yellow flowers. There are numerous chandeliers scattered throughout the restaurant and large, yellow vases provide the finishing touch for the decor. Warm atmosphere There are paintings all around the restaurant that depict various Italian scenes and murals of ancient Rome. We especially loved this painting of a gondola in Venice, but you could spend all day just admiring the paintings in the restaurant. Paintings The tables are also made of wood, and the table settings are elegant and inviting. Our table Now that we have made it to our table, let’s take a look at the menu! Menu Tutto Italia serves a meu filled with authentic Italian dishes including chicken, fish, handmade pasta, lasagna and more. The menu is created by Joachim Splichal, award-winning chef and California restaurateur. Let’s take a look at the offerings! Let’s take a look at the menu! The menu starts with options for antipasti and secondi including Prosciutto di Parma, Calamari Fritti, and Salmone. ©Disney You can also choose from a variety of handmade pasta including Fettuccine, Spaghetti, and Lasagne. As well, there are seven options for sides. ©Disney The restaurant also has a children’s menu that includes entrees such as Chicken Tenders, Spaghetti, and Pizza. There is also a fun selection of drinks for the kiddos. ©Disney Of course, there are also some delicious dessert options including Tiramisù and Cannolo Siciliano. ©Disney Tutto Italia also offers a wide variety of alcoholic beverages including some beer. ©Disney As well as an extensive wine menu. ©Disney There are still a few more wine options. ©Disney You can also order cocktails including cocktails that are “distinctly Italian.” ©Disney You will also find that the menu includes Limoncello, Sambuca, Amari, and Liquori. ©Disney As well as some options for Grappa, Marsala, and Brandy. ©Disney Now that we have taken a look at the menu, let’s dive into what we ordered! Drinks We started off with some drinks! First, we got the Espresso Martini which is made with vanilla vodka, coffee liqueur, and Italian espresso. You can get it for $18. Espresso Martini We thought the Espresso Martini was smooth and sweet. Overall, it is what you would expect from an Espresso Martini, but it wasn’t anything special. If you are a fan of this drink, you will feel satisfied with this one, but it isn’t the best Espresso Martini we have had in Disney World. Espresso Martini Next up, we got the Italian Sangria which is made with Cabernet Terre di Bacco, rum, and fruit juice. You can get this drink for $16. Italian Sangria Just like the Espresso Martini, this Italian Sangria is about what you would expect. It was a sangria, and it was tasty, but it wasn’t anything that knocked our socks off. We could definitely tell that the sangria was made with a high-quality red wine and that really added to the overall flavor. Italian Sangria Now that we have some drinks, let’s move onto the food! Eats For an appetizer, we got the Tortino di Melanzane which is baked eggplant parmigiana, pomodoro, mozzarella, and parmesan. This dish costs $19. Tortino di Melanzane This was one of our favorite things we got, and it was really just incredible. The eggplant was wonderfully soft, and it soaked up the sauce and cheese. It was also a very light dish that didn’t make us feel super full. We shared it amongst two people, and we thought it was the perfect amount to feel satisfied, but still ready for a main course. Although we would have gladly eaten many plates of this dish! Tortino di Melanzane For our main dishes, we got the Pesce Spada which is grilled Swordfish with crushed potatoes, Scillian tomato pesto, and piccata sauce. You can grab this dish for $36. Pesce Spada We really enjoyed this dish and thought all of the elements complimented the fish well. Most flavor came from the tomato pesto and piccata sauce as the fish itself did not have a lot of flavor beyond tasting meaty and a bit salty. The fish had a great char on the outside, but you really got the flavor from the sauces. The sauces were bright and added a great amount of acidity to the dish. The crushed potatoes were a great addition to bring down the lightness and acidity of the dish. The flavors all melded well together to create a very tasty main course. Pesce Spada We also got the Gnocchi Sorrentina which is potato dumplings with roasted tomatoes, pomodoro sauce, and burrata cheese. You can get this dish for $29. Gnocchi Sorrentina We love ourselves a good gnocchi dish, so we were excited to taste this one! This dish was very well made, and it felt like a dish you would get from an Italian grandma. In a sense it felt very homemade, but in the best way possible. We could tell the ingredients were all high-quality and it was a super comforting dish. It wasn’t the best gnocchi we have ever had, but we still really enjoyed it. Gnocchi Sorrentina Next up is dessert! First, we got the Limoncello Float which is Sicilian limoncello over homemade limoncello gelato and fresh strawberry. This dessert costs $19. Limoncello Float We were pleasantly surprised by this dessert. It is likely what the Ice Cream Martini in France wishes it was instead of being a drink where you end up eating ice cream and just sipping on vodka because of how it melts. Instead, this Limoncello Float actually melts really well together. When your first combine the two it tastes like straight Limoncello, but once it has melted a bit it ends up being a refreshing, sweet dessert drink. Limoncello Float Last but not least, we also got the Tiramisù which is the classic coffee-flavored Italian dessert. It is made with ladyfingers dipped in coffee, layered with a whipped mixture of eggs, sugar and mascarpone cheese and topped with fresh cocoa powder. You can get this for $14. Tiramisù This was a wonderful Tiramisù! It was like a cloud, light and fluffy, and delicious. The dessert was decadent tasting, although we do wish the lady fingers had a bit more texture. It was so light and fluffy that you didn’t really notice a texture difference when you were eating the lady fingers because they had soaked up so much of the coffee. However, we really enjoyed this dessert, and it was a great way to end our meal! Tiramisù Overall We had a great meal at Tutto Italia with our favorite dishes being the Tortino di Melanzane, Pesce Spada, and Tiramisù. Overall, we could tell all of the food and drinks were made with really high-quality ingredients and we could taste that a lot of care went into each dish. This restaurant is definitely on the pricier side, and while it didn’t leave us completely in awe, we still feel like this restaurant serves up some quality Italian food. If you have some time, are not working with a specific budget, and are craving some Italian food, we think Tutto Italia could be a great option for you. Nosh or Not? You may want to stop by Tutto Italia if… You are craving some delicious Italian dishes. Tutto Italia serves up a variety of authentic Italian dishes, and if you are craving Italian, this restaurant is sure to satisfy! You are looking for somewhere with a warm and cozy atmosphere. We love how warm the ambiance is inside the restaurant. You feel welcome and cozy while you are enjoying some yummy food. It is a great break from the hustle and bustle of the World Showcase. You want a large selection of wines to pair with your meal. Tutto Italia has a large menu of wine that you can pair with your meal. As well as a variety of other alcholic beverages, We might recommend walking on by if… You are looking for a quick meal. Tutto Italia will take a bit of time to finish your meal. It isn’t incredibly slow, but plan to spend a decent chunk of time to really enjoy your dining experience. If you are looking for a quick meal nearby you can check out the Via Napoli pizza window or head over to The American Adventure Pavilion for Regal Eagle Smokehouse. You have a strict budget to adhere to. This restaurant is on the pricier side and if you have a larger group, it will quickly add up. If you are hoping to adhere to a strict budget, this may not be the best option to stretch your dollar. You want to have the best Italian food ever. The food is tasty, but it likely won’t be the best Italian food you will ever have. It is some of the better Italian food we have found at Disney World, but don’t expect a lifechanging experience either. Stay tuned to DFB for more Disney food reviews! Another former Disney Channel star is speaking out. ©Disney During the 1990s, the Disney Channel assembled an in-retrospect monumental group of talent to star in a reboot of The Mickey Mouse Club, including Ryan Gosling, Britney Spears, Christina Aguilera, Justin Timberlake, JC Chasez, and – – our subject today – – Keri Russell. The Golden Globe-winning actress recently appeared on the Smartless podcast (as told by Newsweek) and had some interesting things to say about her time working for the House of Mouse. Russell, who was 15 when she appeared on the 4th, 5th, and 6th seasons of the Mickey Mouse Club, commented that there was a double standard to how Disney treated male vs female actors. She commented, “This seriously is the truth: Whenever the girls looked like they were having sex, they were like, ‘Uh get that one out of here,’ and the boys stayed until they were, like, 25. They were like, ‘Uh, that one, she’s out.’” She jokingly added, ”She looks like a breeder, get her out.” Despite those comments, Russell did speak positively of her time at Disney, saying it was “so fun. I mean, it was so cheesy looking back, but it was so fun.” Keri Russel, right, on the 1990s Mickey Mouse Club This isn’t the first time Russell has spoken in these terms about her Disney career. Earlier this year, she told actor Jesse Tyler Ferguson (on his Dinner’s on Me podcast), “Yeah, it’s usually, like, girls who looked like they were sexually active, Which, probably, I was one of the first. They were like, ‘She is out!’ Meanwhile, the boys stayed till they were like 19… I was like, ‘By the way, I had sex with that person, so I know that they’ve had sex.’ For real.” However, in the same interview Russell credited her time on The Mickey Mouse Club with helping her avoid the issues that usually plague child actors. “I think what’s really the creepiest part of kid acting is usually it’s one or two kids with all adults. So that really accelerates the adultification of everything. And for The Mickey Mouse Club, there were 19 of us. The adults were invisible to me, so I wasn’t completely alone with all the adults, and I think that was helpful.” Following her time with Disney, Russell has had a long career, winning her aforementioned Golden Globe thanks to her titular role on the series Felicity as well as starring on the critically acclaimed seres The Americans. Keri Russel ©Newsweek Keri Russell recently made some eyebrow-raising comments about her time at Disney during a podcast appearance. The holidays will be here before we know it, and that’s especially true at Disney World! It’s almost time for the holidays in Disney World! It’s not quite Halloween yet, but we know that as soon as the clock strikes midnight on Nov. 1, it will be *poof* Christmas everywhere! Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party starts on November 8th (and Magic Kingdom is already selling out for that date!), and Jollywood Nights begins the very next night — November 9th. But today, we’re already seeing a major Disney World holiday tradition in the works! We just stopped by the Grand Floridian and were excited to see construction in the lobby! The gingerbread house is on its way! Each year, the pastry chefs at Disney World put up a MASSIVE gingerbread house! They are busy! The house is made up of more than 10,000 pieces of gingerbread, many of them baked into the shape of the “shingles” you see being attached here. More than 10,000 pieces of gingerbread are attached to build this house. Once completed, you’ll be able to buy yourself a gingerbread shingle and other sweet treats served up from inside the gingerbread house. Gingerbread house construction in the Grand Floridian lobby. Gingerbread displays are a beloved tradition at Disney World — with other popular displays built at the Contemporary Resort, Animal Kingdom Lodge, Yacht Club, Beach Club, and BoardWalk Inn. This could drive a real wrench in your Disney World plans if you’re not prepared! Magic Kingdom We’re no strangers to how much planning can go into a trip to Disney World. We’re constantly checking out menu changes, crowd levels, and scoping out the latest seasonal decor switches. But, there’s one Disney World park that’s sold out soon, that may have you second guessing your plans. Planning just the right day to visit Disney World’s parks can be challenging at times. While Disney World has since let up on its park pass reservation system for hotel guests and daily theme park ticket purchases, that doesn’t always mean that you’ll be able to visit the park you want if you’ve waited around to buy your tickets. Christmas wreath From time to time, Disney World is known to sell out on specific dates of importance and while checking the upcoming calendar dates, we noticed one date HAS already sold out soon. November 8th is now unavailable on Magic Kingdom‘s calendars if you’re looking to purchase tickets alone… ©Disney … or visit as a hotel guest. ©Disney This means if you were looking to purchase tickets for Magic Kingdom for this particular day, you won’t be able to if you haven’t already secured those tickets before now. This might seem like a completely random date, however, it’s important to note that November 8th does hold some significance as it’s the first date of Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party in Magic Kingdom. Since the special event will be happening later that evening, Magic Kingdom’s hours will be reduced for the normal park day which historically makes it a pretty popular time to see the festive decorations hung around the park and especially down Main Street U.S.A. during the earlier hours. Christmas is coming! However, the only group that needs to make park pass reservations still are Disney World’s annual passholders. We checked the AP park pass reservation calendar and so far, it seems like those with an annual pass still have an opportunity to make it inside of Magic Kingdom before the party starts! ©Disney However, we all know that can change on a dime, so if you’re thinking about visiting Magic Kingdom with a Disney World annual pass ahead of the party that evening, you’ll want to be sure to make that park pass reservation before they’re gone! We’ll keep you posted on all the latest news, changes, updates, and more right here at Disney Food Blog so be sure to stay tuned with us! For many, a trip to Disney World could be a once-in-a-lifetime thing…or at least it can be a first-time thing (because trust us Disney adults, it’s hard to just go ONE time and leave it at that). Expedition Everest That means you have certain expectations about your trip. That could include expectations about what snacks you want to try (and we hope you’ve been paying attention to our recommendations). That could even include which restaurants you want to get reservations for. It also probably includes which rides you want to ride, and we bet you have some you’ve been looking to check out FOREVER. However, a ride problem sometimes pops up that could ruin the experience for you. That ride problem is referred to as “B-Mode.” Basically, B-Mode happens when something in a ride isn’t functioning properly, so Imagineers have a backup so that the ride can continue to operate and doesn’t have to close. Yes, Imagineers think of everything. The most glaring example of B-Mode is Expedition Everest in Animal Kingdom. The Yeti on that ride never functioned properly, so instead of dismantling the whole ride and rebuilding it (which is what fixing the Yeti would require), the ride now operates permanently in B-Mode in what is lovingly referred to as Disco Yeti. Most folks have only EVER been on Expedition Everest in B-Mode, so this particular example will probably not ruin the experience for you (but man, oh, man, wouldn’t it be nice to see that Yeti moving the way he was originally supposed to?). ©Disney However, it makes other ride experiences a little less exciting. For example, near the end of Rise of the Resistance in Hollywood Studios‘ Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, the Kylo Ren animatronic is INCREDIBLE to experience. However, the Kylo animatronic has a LOT of problems and you’ll often only see a projection screen of Kylo in his ship outside the windows. This changes the entire experience and is not nearly as impressive as the animatronic. Missing out on this animatronic makes the ride a little less exciting The same goes for the Hondo animatronic in the pre-show of Millennium Falcon: Smuggler’s Run. His animatronic moves around and interacts with the things around it and sets the stage for the pre-show and ride. However, when Hondo isn’t working, he gets a tarp thrown over him to make him look like cargo and his face appears on an overhead display screen. Hondo animatronic Another example of a B-Mode taking away a ride’s experience is Na’vi River Journey in Animal Kingdom. At the end of the ride, there is an INCREDIBLE animatronic of a Na’vi Shaman and it’s really the highlight of the whole ride. However, when the animatronic isn’t working, a projection screen of the Shaman goes up instead, which is SO not the same. Hello, Shaman! Over in EPCOT, Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind has a B-mode for the end of its pre-show. One of the best effects of the ride is when you’re teleported from the Earth Welcome Center up to the Nova Corps ship to see a demonstration of the Cosmic Generator. You stand within a lighted ring in a room and there’s a quick bright light, the room goes dark, and you feel yourself being transported. The wall above you instantly changes. It’s pretty impressive. In B-Mode, though, a door that opens to reveal that you’re in space. BORING. Teleportation Room Perhaps the WEIRDEST example of B-Mode was when the Donald animatronic was being fixed on the Gran Fiesta Featuring the Three Caballeros ride. He was replaced by a…plant. Well, the ride could still go on, but again, the best part of the ride was replaced by a plant. We’re not sure what kind of decision-making went into that. Donald Duck Was Replaced By…A Plant?! So if you have expectations going into certain rides and looking forward to seeing certain technologies in action, it can be disappointing when you end up with B-Mode. All we can suggest is trying to ride that ride at a later time to see if the issues were fixed at some point. Otherwise, it might just have to wait until your next trip.
