Just yesterday, Coperni became the first fashion brand to hold a Fashion Week show at Disneyland Paris! The Coperni Spring Summer 2025 Collection was complete with ruffles and bows reminiscent of Disney princesses, fringe and little black dresses calling back to the Disney Villains — and of course, Mickey Mouse heels to top it all off. It’s not every day this sort of opportunity presents itself, but if you dream a thing more than once, it’s sure to come true! For Coperni designers, Sebastien Meyer and Arnaud Vaillant, this is a dream that goes all the way back to their younger days. “We grew up with Disney as an important part of our childhood. For many French children, particularly those from the provinces, the first family visit to the ‘big city Paris’ meant a trip to Disneyland,” shared Sebastien and Arnaud. “Disney’s fairytales and characters like Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse, Ariel from “The Little Mermaid”, Snow White, Cinderella, and Maleficent were our guides through the complex landscape of human emotions — friendship, love, fear, courage, transformation.” Exploring imagination and curiosity, the collection is a tribute to the timeless Disney classics that shaped how we grew up. It features reinterpreted symbols from the Walt Disney Animation Studios classics we all know and love such as the apple from “Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs” the clothes that turn into ball gowns in “Cinderella,” the enchanted rose from “Beauty and the Beast” and the aquatic world in “The Little Mermaid.” Utilizing Sleeping Beauty Castle as the backdrop, the show was divided into three acts that explored the journey and evolution from childhood to adulthood — princes and princesses, rebellious teenagers, and powerful heroes and villains we all have the capacity to represent. We were awe struck and gleaming with joy the entire show! Here’s a few of our favorite moments you need to know about: 1. Kylie Jenner Graces the Runway We always have our eye out for the last model to walk the runway! To everyone’s surprise, Kylie Jenner stepped out of Sleeping Beauty Castle dressed in a regal ballgown with a drop waist silhouette and opera-style gloves to close the show. 2. Statement Making Accessories Nothing makes a statement like the perfect accessory and this show was packed full of them. Our jaws dropped as the Swarovski crystal bag made its debut and, of course, the fabulous Mickey Mouse-inspired heels were our favorite of the night! 3. Childlike Elements We were transported right back to our earlier days as the show started off with looks that captured the essence of childhood. Adorned with delicate butterflies, these Victorian elements definitely caught our eye! We even spotted a few tees featuring Disney-favorite characters such as Mickey Mouse, Donald Duck and more. Styled underneath frilly dresses and over patterned button downs with popped collars, we know what we’re wearing to the parks next visit! 4. More Models Spotted Not only did we spot Kylie Jenner on the runway, but we also noticed a few more familiar faces! Lila Moss, Irina Shayk, Paloma Elsesser and more stepped out in stunning Disney-inspired looks throughout the show. 5. A Touch of Belle au Bois Dormant It’s all in the details! We couldn’t help but notice subtle touches of Maleficent and Aurora from the Walt Disney Animation Studios film “Sleeping Beauty” throughout the second act. Transforming classic villain elements into striking modern garments, dresses adorned with necklines of the sinister villain’s silhouette were juxtaposed with crowns similar to Aurora’s iconic accessory. We couldn’t think of a better place to debut these looks than at the castle inspired by the classic fairy tale. 6. Princesses Reclaim their Power Following the Disney Villains-themed portion of the show, in typical Disney Princess-fashion, their power was reclaimed in the form of ruffles and pink. Featuring more classic silhouettes, the looks included balloon-sleeved bodysuits, pastel minidresses and pieces adorned with butterflies emerging from their cocoons — a symbol of rebirth. 7. Front and Center We weren’t just keeping an eye out on the runway! Cole Sprouse, Dixie D’Amelio and more were among those seated front and center. 8. A Classic Disney Finale If there’s one thing Disneyland Paris and Coperni know how to do, it’s put on a show! Sleeping Beauty Castle sparkled throughout as stunning water fountains flashed hues of pink and blue. And as the models circled the hub for the last walk, pyrotechnics lined the runway and the castle — a classic Disney finale. Not only does the power of Disney stories transcend around the world, it even resonates across all-new mediums. When you walk into the gates of any of our theme parks, do you ever wonder why it feels so neat and clean? Spoiler Alert: It’s because of our cast members – most notably, our 4,000+ custodial team that make our theme parks, resorts and entertainment venues sparkle and shine every day. And today on National Custodian Appreciation Day, we’re shining a spotlight on this humble, supporting role that makes happy happen for our guests in some surprising and even artistic ways. After making sure all the routine custodial tasks are done, many of our magic makers will pick up their simple tools – a broom, a dustpan, and water – and draw in an audience of guests, creating many favorite Disney characters, from Mickey Mouse to the Hatbox Ghost, in a unique Disney art form known as Water Art. How do custodial cast members bring Water Art to life? Just ask Joel, one of our many custodial artists, who makes even the smaller moments of visiting a theme park even more special. Step 1: Sketch It Out Like most works of art, Joel starts with a simple sketch. He draws the character on paper to learn the lines, shapes, and details it takes to bring the character to life. Step 2: From Parchment to Pavement After mastering step 1, Joel picks up his pan and broom to practice creating the character on pavement. Joel’s pro tip: Drawing circles with a broom is easy. He simply holds his broom steady and turns his body in a full 360-degree rotation. Step 3: Time to Shine! Satisfied with practicing, Joel takes his talents to the stage to surprise guests with his drawings. It doesn’t take long for a guest audience to form as he creates the smiling face of a classic Disney character that guests know and love. Once his creations are perfect, Joel passes down this unique cast tradition by teaching fellow cast members how to create these works of art on their own. Each volunteer goes through training, and those who pass the artistic challenge receive their official Custodial Water Artist certification. It’s as easy as 1-2-3. We appreciate all custodial cast members for their dedication to the important role of keeping our parks both clean and fun! Now that you know how to create Water Art, try it at home! No matter what time of the year you visit, there’s always something going on at Disney Springs. Disney Springs This season is no different, with TWO new events you can experience this month! And let’s just say, if you’re into good food and good vibes, these events are definitely for you. Two popular Disney Springs restaurants are introducing two special events for guests to enjoy: Sips of Italy: Wine vs. Beer Challenge At Maria & Enzo’s Ristorante, a culinary showdown will take place, with their exclusive Sips of Italy: Wine vs. Beer Challenge. This event will take place at 6:30 p.m. on October 10th and 24th, and at 12 p.m. on November 16th. Maria & Enzo’s Ristorante This event features a multi-course Italian meal created by Chef Ben Dodaro and paired with both wine and beer at each stage. Experts from Batasiolo wines and Menabrea & Cipriani beer will be present to explain the reasoning for their selections, making this a one-of-a-kind experience. Maria & Enzo’s Ristorante This is a great event for both wine connoisseurs and beer enthusiasts as the Sips of Ialy promises an unforgettable time and an incredible meal. Tickets are $85 for dinner sessions and $75 for the lunch session and are available to purchase on the official Maria and Enzo’s website. A Taste of YOKOCHO Presented by Beam Suntory And over at Morimoto Asia, an event called A Taste of YOKOCHO will be held at 6 p.m. on October 10th as part of Bean Suntory’s Highball Week. Morimoto Asia Guests attending the event can enjoy two exclusive Toki highballs and eight alongside a selection of eight flavorful bites inspired by Izakaya-style cuisine. Diners can choose from yakitori skewers, such as chicken thigh with scallion or chicken tail with shichimi spice, or enjoy savory options from the Yakiniku Station featuring pork belly and beef tongue. Morimoto Asia A sweet treat will be served at the end of the night from the Kakigori shaved ice station. Special guests from Beam Suntory will be in attendance, and seats are limited for this event. Ok, y’all, it’s October 1st, and that means it is OFFICIALLY, officially Halloween season. Halloween in Magic Kingdom We’ve been gearing up for spooky season all of September. We visited Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party on opening night, ate TONS of Halloween treats, and did lots of Halloween shopping. But we have at least one more Halloween to-do on our list — get a BOO BUCKET from McDonald’s! Each year, we get anxious waiting to find out when McDonald’s will release its annual boo buckets. These buckets are adorable and multi-purpose. If you’re not familiar with boo buckets, they are the Halloween-themed buckets that McDonald’s Happy Meals come in throughout the month of October. 2023 boo buckets ©McDonald’s Now, McDonald’s has officially announced when we can run to our nearest restaurant to get ours. Boo buckets will return to Happy Meals on October 15th! ©McDonald’s This year’s design is a little different than past years, but the monsters sure are adorable! We can’t wait to get our hands on them. Boo buckets are great for using as Halloween trick-or-treating pails for your kids, or if you’re looking for a more creative way to repurpose your bucket, you can always use it as a cute planter. We used one of our old boo buckets, poked some holes in the bottom, and planted a cute plant in the bucket! Boo bucket repurposed as a planter It’s fun to grab fun items like these boo buckets as part of a Happy Meal for the kiddos (or a small meal for yourself), then reuse the items for other neat projects! The game is ON at EPCOT. EPCOT Fall is one of our favorite times of the year at EPCOT, thanks to all the special events associated with the International Food & Wine Festival Festival. One of our favorites in 2024? Pluto’s Pumpkin Pursuit. Pluto’s Pumpkin Pursuit is a scavenger hunt around EPCOT, where you can “search for hidden decorative pumpkins based on popular Disney characters throughout EPCOT” after purchasing a game board and stickers at select merchandise locations, including Creations Shop, Port of Entry, and World Traveler. The game board Once you acquire your game board, be on the lookout for pumpkins as you travel through EPCOT. For each pumpkin you spot, place the corresponding sticker on your game board, and voila, you’ll be finished in no time. As usual, the board has a helpful visual breakdown of each of the themed pumpkins on the back, so you’ll know what to look out for. The back! Once you wrap up your game board (or even if you don’t), you can return your game board to Disney Traders or World Traveler for a “spooky surprise.” The prizes This year’s prizes are these ADORABLE Disney-themed Halloween-themed character sippers, with one available for each completed game board. Pluto’s Pumpkin Pursuit 2024 As always, Pluto’s Pumpkin Pursuit provides a spooky fun game to play around EPCOT and offers a pitch-perfect spooky season prize to boot. Do you like character meet-and-greets at Disney World? Chip and Dale in Dinoland! It’s always tons of fun when you get to meet your favorite characters and have a fun conversation with them! Disney brings them from the big screen to real life, and it’s always so exciting. Most recently, we’ve even gotten to meet some of our biggest heroes from Marvel comics and movies. Most of these Marvel characters are over in Disney California Adventure on the West Coast, but now a popular Guardian is dancing his way around EPCOT! He was prepared for dancing with his walkman and headphones! We enjoyed his charming personality and hearing about all of his adventures. It’s Star Lord! It’s fun to see Disney adding more characters, especially a cool Marvel character like Star Lord! Fans of the Guardians of the Galaxy franchise won’t want to miss out on this experience in EPCOT. We are always on the lookout for ways to save our readers money, and there is a Southwest Airlines sale we want you to know about! Southwest Airlines There are lots of airlines to choose from when planning a Disney World vacation. Southwest Airlines offers free checked bags and a great cancellation/change policy. While we always encourage doing research and checking prices when purchasing plane tickets, we want to make sure you know about the sale that Southwest Airlines is having! Southwest Airlines runs a variety of sales throughout the year, and they are currently having a “Week of WOW” sale that could have you saving up to 40% off your plane tickets. However, this deal is only running for a limited-time, and you will need to book your tickets by October 3rd, 2024. Book with code “SAVEWOW” to apply the deal. ©Southwest Airlines Of course, there are always restrictions and block-out dates, but saving 40% could mean a lot of extra money in your pocket. This deal is valid for U.S. travel from October 29th, 2024, through January 31st, 2025. There are block-out dates around Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years though. If you are planning on flying internationally, you can take advantage of this deal for travel dates from October 29th, 2024, through March 5th, 2025. Blackout dates still apply though. Flying Southwest Additionally, during the “Week of WOW,” you can also save on deals on Rapid Rewards points, vacation packages, car rentals, hotel bookings, and cruise bookings. It is never a bad idea to check if you might be able to save money during a sale. Any money you save can go towards buying more food or souvenirs. It’s not uncommon to see Disney rides close for a little while! Disneyland Rides often have to close temporarily to get refurbished, whether that means a complete overhaul or just some paint touch-ups and simple tech updates. Because of this, it’s important to check the refurbishment calendars before you head out on your Disney vacation, that way you’re not caught off guard! If you’re planning a trip to Disney California Adventure soon, you need to know about a new closure that was added to the calendar. The Little Mermaid — Ariel’s Undersea Adventure will be closed for refurbishment starting on Monday, November 4th, 2024. The Little Mermaid — Ariel’s Undersea Adventure At this time, there’s not a posted reopening date for the ride, as the calendar only goes out to mid-November. The ride’s webpage has not been updated with a reopening date as well. But for those traveling in November, you might want to be aware of how this will affect your trip. ©Disneyland The attraction takes riders on a trip through the story of The Little Mermaid. Like its Disney World counterpart, you ride in a clamshell and follow Ariel through her many adventures on her way to happily ever after. It’s located in Paradise Gardens Park, and the wait time can fluctuate depending on how busy the park is that day. Lightning Lane Entrance During the time of the Little Mermaid closure, World of Color — ONE will also be closed at California Adventure. Over at Disneyland Park, Hungry Bear Restaurant, Disneyland Railroad, “it’s a small world,” Great Moments with Mr. Lincoln, and The Briar Patch are all on the list. “it’s a small world” in Disneyland So as you can see, checking that refurb calendar is super important for planning! One of my favorite ways to relive Disney memories is by making the recipes at home. After Disney vacations with my family, we would purchase Disney cookbooks to take home as a souvenir. So many Disney recipes have become family favorites that are still requested many years after that trip. Since I love Disney cookbooks, I am thrilled to announce that “The Official Disney Parks Celebration Cookbook: 101 Festival Recipes from the Delicious Disney Vault” is now on sale everywhere books are sold! Festivals at Walt Disney World Resort and Disneyland Resort offer a chance to share a small plate, taste a new flavor, and enjoy a day of Disney magic with family and friends. Thanks to Pam Brandon and the Disney Chefs, you can enjoy all that is joyous about festivals in your home kitchen. To celebrate the cookbook, we’re sharing the recipe for the Celebration Chocolate Fudge Brownies from the Disney Recipe Vault. This gooey fudge cake covered with chocolate pecan glaze was served at the 2023 Disney California Adventure Food & Wine Festival and is a decadent treat that’s easily enjoyed by the whole family. Let’s get to the recipe! Celebration Chocolate Fudge Brownie Recipe As remembered from 2023 Disney California Adventure Food & Wine Festival Serves 15 Gooey Fudge Cake Ingredients 1 3/4 cup sugar 1 3/4 cup butter, softened 6 eggs 2 cups powdered sugar 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour 3/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder 2 cups chopped pecans Chocolate Pecan Glaze Ingredients 1/2 cup butter 6 tablespoons milk 4 tablespoons cocoa powder 1 cup powdered sugar 1 cup chopped pecans Topping Ingredients White chocolate crunch pearls Edible glitter stars Gooey Fudge Cake Instructions Preheat oven to 325°F. Grease and flour 15 (four-inch) mini bundt pans or ramekins. Set aside. Cream sugar and butter in the bowl of an electric mixer fitted with a paddle attachment until fluffy. Add eggs, one at a time, until fully incorporated. Add powdered sugar, 1/2 cup at a time and mix on low speed until combined. Whisk all-purpose flour and cocoa powder together in a small bowl. Gradually add to mixer and beat on low speed until mixed. Add pecans and fold until just combined, do not over mix. Fill prepared pans 2/3 full with batter. Bake for 20-25 minutes, until top is set but center is still soft. Cool completely. Chocolate Pecan Glaze Instructions Heat butter and milk in small saucepan over medium heat until butter is melted. Remove from heat. Whisk in cocoa powder and powdered sugar until smooth. Stir in pecans. Keep warm until ready to serve. To Serve If desired, remove cooled cakes from molds. Top each cake with warm chocolate pecan glaze, white chocolate crunch pearls, and edible glitter stars. Cook’s Note: To make the gooey fudge cake as a large cake, bake in a large bundt pan for 40-50 minutes. Cool completely before slicing. Chef Mickey’s Tip: Use your favorite shapes and colors of sprinkles to personalize this cake for your own special celebrations. Always use caution when handling sharp objects and hot contents. When two of our favorite things collide, you know we’re going to be over the moon about it. So when we heard that Disney and Harry Styles were going to collab, we were HYPED! Disney Springs A Harry Styles pop-up featuring his brand Pleasing opened up at Disney Springs last Saturday, and the excitement was shared with many fans, including us! And if you’re curious as to what this pop-up shop looked like, we’ve got you covered with a look inside. Pleasing is a beauty and lifestyle brand created by English singer-songwriter Harry Styles (ignore the squeals in the distance, as that is from most of us here at the DFB team). It specializes in nail and skin care as well as apparel and accessories. The trendy brand has collaborated with Disney to create a line inspired by the classic film FANTASIA, and pop-up shops have opened in Disney Springs as well as at the Houston Galleria in Houston, TX. FANTASIA x Pleasing pop-up shop entrance The Pleasing pop-up shop is located inside the former NBA Experience gift shop. On the first day of the shop’s opening, which was Saturday, September 28th, the lines were truly outrageous, with a wait expected to be 5 hours. LOTS of people Stepping inside the shop immediately transported us into the world of Pleasing x FANTASIA, with whimsical decor and furnishings straight from the film and the creative mind of Harry Styles. From the floor to the display shelves, there are so many details to take in. But of course, this is a store selling merch, so the products are just as important, and thankfully, they did not disappoint. Inside the FANTASIA x Pleasing pop-up shop The shop features skin care products, such as Hand & Nail Balm and Lip Balm. The packaging showcases artwork inspired by FANTASIA as well as having products available in their regular packaging as well. Apparel also stocks the shelves of this shop, with FANTASIA-themed crew necks, hoodies, t-shirts, and more. Inside the FANTASIA x Pleasing pop-up shop You’ll find items such as this FANTASIA x Pleasing Sorcerer Mickey sweatshirt… Love this! …and these FANTASIA x Pleasing sweatpants. The ship is scheduled to set sail on its maiden voyage on December 21st, and now Disney has revealed a sneak peek at the Treasure’s new merchandise collection. With the help of content creators Melizza Black and Michelle Nhu, Disney has revealed a first look at three merchandise collections themed to the Treasure. The first, the Adventures Ahoy Collection, will include a range of “playful apparel pieces for everyone in the family, themed accessories, and homeware items. The designs showcase bespoke artwork of Captain Mickey Mouse, Captain Minnie Mouse, and their daring pals, all donning their voyage-ready ensembles.” Thematically, the Adventures Ahoy Collection takes its cues from the Treasure’s adventure theme. Items previewed from this collection include an adventurous Mickey Mouse Ear hat… ©Disney … which goes along with the same hat worn by the corresponding Mickey plush. ©Disney Next up, there’s the Treasure Logo Collection. If you’re heading to Disneyland Resort soon, you’ve got to plan where you want to eat! Disneyland Hotel There are dozens of delicious restaurants around the property, with all kinds of unique cuisine. Some, you’ll need to reserve in advance, while others are available the day of. And if you’re the type who loves a lounge, we’ve got to tell you about one of Disneyland Resort’s newer spots! Last year, a lounge opened on the bottom floor of Disneyland Hotel, in the Fantasyland Tower. This restaurant is located next to Goofy’s Kitchen and has a moody vibe. The Lounge! We even stopped by shortly after its opening to try out a meal, and we had a bit of a mixed experience (some items were good and others were definitely mid). But the strangest thing about the lounge is that it didn’t have an official name…until now! Lobby Lounge Now, signage around the Disneyland Hotel has been updated to call this the “Broken Spell Lounge,” and honestly, we think the name fits! The lounge has a bit of an eerie villainous vibe, with forest accents and dark colors. New signage However, this change was made rather inconspicuously. It wasn’t announced on Disneyland’s website or in the app, and there isn’t an actual sign up at the lounge itself. Disney DID make an Instagram account for the new-ish location, though. Odd! If there’s one thing we know about Disney World, it’s that they sure know how to stir the pot. Reflections ©Disney It seems like any announcements, whether they’re about a new menu item or a whole new attraction, can send Disney Adults into quite a tizzy. That got us thinking about Disney’s newest announcements that seem to suggest a previously thought canceled hotel project might not be so canceled, so we reached out to you to get your thoughts on the matter. Well, we asked and you delivered! Back in 2019, Disney announced a new resort project — Reflections — A Disney Lakeside Lodge. The Lodge was going to have more than 900 rooms and be a new Disney Vacation Club hotel. It was planned to be built at the former home of Disney’s River Country water park (which closed in 2001 and had been abandoned since then) over by Disney’s Fort Wilderness Campground. Recently, some permit extensions have made it look like Reflections might still be a go — after we didn’t hear anything about it for five years! We reached out to our followers on Facebook to ask: “What do you think about the potential return of the Reflections Hotel??” We had quite a few people leave their opinions in the comments! What do you think? Now, let’s dive into some of your responses! Totally Here For It First up, some of you are absolutely thrilled by the possibility of Reflections making its debut. For those in this camp, the more Disney resorts, the better! Here’s what some of you had to say: Reflections concept art featuring Pocahontas. DFB reader John is all about it, saying, “Very cool. I would really like to see another value or moderate hotel come in. Disney is getting too expensive for most people.” This resonates with a lot of people who feel that Disney is becoming a luxury only the few can afford, so another resort could help alleviate some of that. Taking this thought further, Nicholas, another reader, shared, “I’m sure it’ll be nice. Also sure it’ll be either HIGH end Moderate or Deluxe accommodations with lots of DVC rooms for the investor class.” This is a pretty common prediction from many of you that Reflections will cater to a higher-end clientele. DFB reader Shawn shared, “It’s a cool idea since I am DVC.” For the Disney Vacation Club (DVC) members out there, any new resort means more options. More options mean more places to use those hard-earned points! More Reflections concept art. Doug, also a DVC member, is all in: “As a DVC member, I am all for more DVC resort offerings. It would be a great way to repurpose the old River Country area. To those concerned about keeping the integrity of Fort Wilderness, I’m sure Imagineering would come up with a way to make it happen.” Not Feeling It Now, on the other side of the debate, some of you are just not impressed. For you, Reflections feels like an unnecessary disruption to Disney’s iconic Fort Wilderness. Disney’s Fort Wilderness DFB reader Jeff minced no words, saying, “I think it is unnecessary and just another nail in the coffin of the Fort Wilderness we have all known.” For die-hard fans of Fort Wilderness, this feels like a step in the wrong direction. Phil agreed, chiming in with, “Not good. Ft Wilderness will be losing its wilderness atmosphere. We will be camping next to a parking lot.” Phil paints a pretty bleak picture here, and honestly, we get it. No one’s here for a view of a parking lot when they’re camping. Sandra is also worried about the resort’s impact: “Not a fan. It will impose on the wilderness of Ft Wilderness. Put it somewhere else, next to a similar type of resort.” Mixed Feelings About It Lastly, we got some of you who are caught in the middle. Some of you see the pros of a new resort but have serious concerns about what it might mean for the landscape and vibe of the area. ©Disney DFB reader Laura summed it up perfectly, saying, “I have mixed feelings about the possible return of Reflections Resort. On one hand, it could be a relaxing resort with lots of luxurious amenities and beautiful landscaped grounds. On the other hand, the proximity to existing Disney lodging with already perfect grounds concerns me. I really dislike the feeling – ‘they paved paradise to put up a parking lot’.” This is the dilemma many of you feel in your bones. While a new resort could be beautiful and packed with Disney magic, there’s always the fear that something special could be lost in the process. Are we Disney World pros? Yes, we are! Do we still make mistakes in Disney World? Well, to quote The Good Place, “Pobody’s Nerfect.” Signs at Port Orleans — Riverside For example, we still trip over the trolley tracks in Magic Kingdom although we’ve walked down Main Street, U.S.A. MILLIONS of times. We also still occasionally forget to bring our rain gear to the park, even on days when we KNOW it’s going to rain. Yes, we even occasionally still wear shoes that we think could be a bad idea (and they usually are) and have achy feet at the end of the day. In other words, we’re human. So we have a story to share with you about us getting lost at a Disney hotel. We recently stayed at Disney’s Port Orleans Resort — Riverside in Magnolia Bend (each section has its own name, as does each building). We left our room to hit up Riverside Mill Food Court, came back, but then…well…we couldn’t find the building our room was in. Even with the signs at the resort, we wandered past our building in BOTH directions because every single building LOOKS THE SAME. Okay, so that’s frustrating, right? Magnolia Bend So we started looking for the quiet pool that we knew we’d walked past to get to the food court, and we found what we thought was the RIGHT quiet pool, but turns out, it wasn’t. So we wandered around the wrong set of buildings in the wrong direction for about 20 minutes. Don’t get us wrong — it’s a beautiful resort to wander around, but at this point, it was getting ridiculous! We’re Disney pros — HOW IS THIS HAPPENING TO US? So yep, we were just aimlessly looking at room numbers, and yep, WE WERE LOST. Riverside Mill is a pretty resort… We did get back there eventually, but the next morning, we were running late and were desperately trying to find our car. Guess what? We were looking in the WRONG PARKING LOT. There are SIGNS, but those signs are pretty vague. If you park your car late at night and need to find your room, you might end up a half a mile away from where you parked. So good luck on getting back to it in the morning! Anyway, will our walk of shame never end? The parking lots look the same, too So here’s where we really feel like we messed up. When you check into any room at a Disney World hotel, you’re generally given a map by a Cast Member who shows you exactly where your room is (and they usually even circle it on the map), as well as where the closest parking lot is. Did we look at that map? NOOOOO…we’re pros, we don’t need no stinking maps. Port Orleans — Riverside Directory Except that we do, apparently. So don’t be like us. Look at that map, carry it with you, take a photo of it, and keep it on your phone. You may need it as these massive Disney World resorts. If all else fails, leave yourself a trail of breadcrumbs when you leave your room because otherwise, you’re just going to lose your way all over again. Stay tuned to DFB for more. When you hear the words ‘theme park’, Disney and Universal are probably the first names that come to mind. But, we also know that there are so many other iconic theme parks across the country that deserve all the love and hype from theme park fans. And soon enough, there may be a new one to add to the list! South Dakota is getting their largest family entertainment destination with Liberty Land in Rapid City! Planned for the area near Mall Drive and Lacrosse Street, this new amusement park will be a total game-changer for local fun and adventure. ©Storyland Studios Approved by Rapid City Council back in December 2022, Liberty Land is set to be a 300-acre property with a “themed RV Resort, amusement park, indoor/outdoor amphitheater, an indoor water park, a neighborhood with dining, housing, shopping and a hotel and conference center”. The theme for this amusement park is a celebration of the American spirit of the West, set in The Black Hills of South Dakota. ©Storyland Studios Vicki Fisher, The City Council’s Development Director, is confident that Liberty Land will put South Dakota on the map, competing with the likes of Disneyland and Universal Studios. “We have an issue in our community to ensure entertainment, especially for our young people, our young adults. Obviously, there’s many outdoor activities. There’s other activities that one can participate in, but it’s limited,” Fisher said. ©Storyland Studios Though construction hasn’t kicked off yet for this massive project, the first phase is expected to be completed by 2030. The Halloween season is wickedly wonderful as Tokyo Disneyland celebrates with a brand-new daytime parade —and this time Disney Villains are taking center stage! From October 1 through November 7, Maleficent, Jafar, Ursula, Cruella De Vil and more Disney Villains are putting on a wicked performance during “The Villains’ Halloween ‘Into the Frenzy.’” Not only can you catch some of the most powerful villains during this glamorous extravaganza, Mickey and Friends are joining too. The floats will make their way through the park with three stops at the Westernland and Fantasyland area, the Plaza, and again in the Tomorrowland and Toontown area. Each stop begins with a welcoming performance by the villains, including music and dancing for all. Our fiendish foes also have a grand finale in store for this villainous gathering — complete with devious special effects. It’s just the bit of chaos we know and loathe! The bone-chilling fun doesn’t end there at Tokyo Disney Resort. Here are five more reasons you won’t want to miss this wickedly cool celebration. 1. Fan-Favorite Entertainment Returns Not only is there a frightfully fabulous parade debuting this year, Tokyo Disney Resort is home to more Halloween entertainment you won’t want to miss. Returning once again, Mickey and Friends can be found in “Disney Halloween Greeting” at Mediterranean Harbor in Tokyo DisneySea and the spectacular fireworks show, “Night High Halloween,” is taking over the sky at both Tokyo Disneyland and Tokyo DisneySea. 2. Devilishly Delightful Décor It’s the season of Disney Villains and they’re making it known! Over at Tokyo Disneyland, find devilishly delightful décor adorned with thorns and drapery. The Mickey flower bed also has a new Halloween-themed look, and once again, Toontown is decked out in pumpkins and ghosts. Tokyo DisneySea has received a bit of Halloween flair, too, over at the Mediterranean Harbor and American Waterfront. Don’t be fooled by the festive and lively atmosphere during the day, though! As night settles in and the jack-o’-lanterns illuminate, a dark and eerie ambience will take over. 3. The Pumpkin King Takes Over Haunted Mansion Did you know Haunted Mansion at Tokyo Disneyland undergoes a seasonal transformation? Yes, that’s right! You can find Jack, Sally, Zero and more from Tim Burton’s “The Nightmare Before Christmas” starting September 19, 2024 to January 13, 2025 in Haunted Mansion “Holiday Nightmare.” 4. Taste the Flavors of the Season Although we know pumpkin as the flavor of fall, did you know that in Japan it’s more common to find sweet potato as the seasonal highlight? Give this traditional autumnal flavor a try in the new Halloween Sundae at Liberty Landing Diner in Tokyo DisneySea. For those looking to satisfy their pumpkin cravings, you can find Mickey Mouse-shaped Pumpkin Gnocchi Gratin at the food truck in Waterfront Park at Tokyo DisneySea or a Mickey Waffle with pumpkin whipped topping and maple sauce at Great American Waffle Co. in Tokyo Disneyland. Over in Tokyo Disneyland, the Disney Villains continue their reign with special sets inspired by Disney Villains, including Maleficent from “Sleeping Beauty” at Eastside Cafe and the Queen from “Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs” at Plaza Pavilion Restaurant. 5. Hauntingly Cute Merchandise What’s a visit to Tokyo Disney Resort without a bag full of perfectly themed merchandise? We’re no strangers to seeing celebrities in the Disney parks. Cars Land in Disney California Adventure Whether they’re filming something special, like a TV show episode, holiday special, or commercial, or just because they’re visiting the parks with family and friends, we’ve certainly seen our fair share of well-known individuals in the parks. And if you’re a big fan of old Disney Channel shows or Hulu’s popular Only Murders in The Building show, you’ll love to know who was just seen in Disneyland! Selena Gomez, star of the popular Wizards of Waverly Place Disney Channel show that ran from 2007-2012 and Hulu’s Only Murders in The Building that began in 2021, was just seen at Disneyland with her boyfriend, Benny Blanco! Radiator Springs Racers Blanco shared a photo of the two of them, seemingly in Radiator Springs on Radiator Springs Racers on September 29th, on his Instagram story. Selena Gomez appears to be giving him a kiss over his mask while she has hers pulled down under her chin. @itsbennyblanco on Instagram The couple made their couple debut at the postponed 2023 Emmys in January. Earlier in September, Gomez talked to Vanity Fair about her relationship with Blanco, saying, “He’s just been a light. A complete light in my life. He’s my best friend. Disney Springs…are you doing okay? Disney Springs From the crowds you’ll see, it appears the shopping and dining district is doing just fine. With pop-up shops that attract hours-long waits, seasonal snacks that we can’t get enough of, and exciting dining opportunities for upcoming holidays, there’s no way to suspect anything strange is happening at Springs…right? WRONG. We need to talk about how many permanent closures have happened recently because it’s more than you may expect. In the past two years, tons of Disney Springs shops have closed their doors forever. For some, new stores have taken their place, while others continue to sit empty. First was the Sosa Family Cigars Shop located on the West Side of Disney Springs. They closed their doors for good on January 3rd, 2023, and by the fall, Bowes Signature Candles had taken its place. The closure of the store ended a nearly 25 year partnership between Disney and the company, which was a little shocking, to say the least. Sosa Family Cigars Next came the UGG store, which closed its doors in mid-February of 2023. The UGG store had opened with the Town Center district of Disney Springs in May 2016. There wasn’t much fanfare about this — we happened to notice the quiet closure on one of our walks around the area. Soon after, we saw that Lululemon had construction walls up and was moving into the space. Ugg Store Following this, the Melissa Shoes store close to the center of Disney Springs closed its doors in May 2023. It specialized in jelly shoes and other accessories made from recyclable materials, and the store was replaced by Alex and Ani (but we’ll get to their fate in a second). Disney just announced that a new Pura Vida store will be coming to Disney Springs in the former Melissa Shoes store spot, but we don’t yet know when it will be open. Old Home of Melissa Shoes On January 1st, 2024, with very little notice, the Alex and Ani store that took the place of Melissa Shoes closed its doors as well. This came following the shuttering of 20 out of the 27 physical stores located around the country, including the company’s headquarters in Rhode Island. It had only recently moved into its larger Disney Springs spot, making this one a little more of an unfortunate goodbye. Alex and Ani Earlier this year, The Art of Shaving store officially closed on January 2nd, 2024. This store was located in The Landing section of Disney Springs, near STK and Sanuk, for nearly 10 years. As of now, all these months later, Disney has still not announced a replacement for the store. Art of Shaving Disney Springs And finally, we have the Sanuk store, that just closed its doors in August, with no announcement of what we can expect to replace it. The store was one of the first to open with The Landing section of Disney Springs in 2015 (this was the area formerly known as Pleasure Island, which closed in 2008). Sanuk closed So Disney…what the heck is going on? While we’re happy some of these stores have reopened as new offerings, and we understand that some of these closures were due to the owners’ decisions, not Disney, we still think it’s a little strange to see all these closures happening so close to each other. It reminds us to stay on our toes and to enjoy the shops we have while we can, because one day they could be gone before we can say goodbye!
