  2. Is there anything better for a foodie than the EPCOT Food & Wine Festival? Food and Wine Festival I mean, truly, all the food booths, the merch, and all the rest has had us wanting to do nothing but dine around the world showcase on repeat. And to prove it, let’s talk about the amount we spent and what we noticed! As we were saying, when you’ve got a list of things you want to try from the 2024 EPCOT Food & Wine Festival as long as our arm, and things can add up rather quickly, so let’s talk about how much we spent and ultimately what we noticed! 2024 EPCOT Food & Wine Festival Let’s rip the bandage right off. This year was expensive. We ended up dropping a cool $828.41 on all the festival booths, and it wasn’t just to indulge. We set out on a mission to see if the food and overall experience could live up to the hype (and price tag). Spoiler alert — we were pleasantly surprised! Breaking Down the Cost First things first, yes, $816.41 sounds like a lot, but it’s Disney World, and the festival is all about those small plates and drinks, so the costs add up quickly. Beer-braised Beef served with smoked gouda mashed potatoes Here’s a rough breakdown of how we spent our cash: Food: Around $461 went to all the delicious bites we tried. From Grilled Bushberry Spiced Shrimp Skewer with sweet-and-sour vegetables and coconut chili sauce in Australia to Slow-roasted Pork Slider with sweet-and-sour DOLE Pineapple chutney and spicy mayonnaise in Hawai’i, the quallity and variety was insane. Drinks: Naturally, the Food & Wine Festival isn’t just about food. We also spent about $366 on drinks. From Mango Peach Bubble Tea in China to the Coppertail Brewing Fallen Fruit Blueberry Pie Hard Cider from Milled and Mulled, there were some great options. We tried to pace ourselves, but when in EPCOT, right? Schöfferhofer Lemon Zest Hefeweizen About the Food and Drink Here’s the thing, the Food & Wine festival food and drink can be hit or miss, but this year, it was mostly hits. To be sure, not everything was perfect, though. Our Filet Mignon in Canada was unfortunately pretty dry. Some dishes felt a bit overpriced for what they were and some booths had longer waits than we expected. You can check out our festival video right here! The Bottom Line So, was spending almost $830 at Disney World’s Food & Wine Festival worth it? Well for us, honestly, yeah. It was a foodie adventure that overall lived up to our expectations — but it’s our job to bring you reviews on everything, and that spending was spread out over multiple reporters. Our main tip for you is to make sure you budget, pace yourself, and wear those comfy shoes! I mean, you really can’t beat getting to try fantastic dishes and drinks from around the world all in a single afternoon. 3. If you’re packing to go to Disney World, there’s one thing that we almost always recommend you bring with you… FuelRod …a portable charger! Since so many things are done on our phones these days, it’s usually a good idea to have backup battery coverage when you go on vacation. We even have a list of portable chargers that we prefer. But recently, it seems that portable chargers have been causing some problems! AP reports that devices powered by lithium-ion batteries are overheating more often during flights. On top of that, many passengers place these battery devices in checked bags that go in the cargo hold, where fires may not be detected as quickly. MCO Luggage Drop-Off Overheating incidents rose 28% from 2019 to 2023, although they’re still fairly rare. The data was compiled by UL Standards & Engagement, which reported that e-cigarettes overheated more often than any other device. In 60% of overheating cases, the devices were located near the passenger’s seat, like in an overhead bin. Southwest Plane There have been a few cases recently of planes requiring evacuations or emergency landings due to devices overheating or catching fire in passengers’ bags. Keep in mind that the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) prohibits e-cigarettes (and their chargers) and power banks with lithium-ion batteries in checked bags. You’ll need to pack those in your carry-on luggage. The rule is in place to limit the chance of fire in the cargo hold. Orlando International Airport So the next time you’re flying, make sure to follow TSA guidelines for packing any device at risk of overheating, and be careful with how you organize your bag, so you can limit the chance of fire. That would definitely put a damper on the vacation! Crowds at security We’ll keep you in the loop with any more airline news, so stay tuned to DFB! Click Here to Learn Some Expert Packing Hacks! 5. It’s Halloween Time at the Disneyland Resort which means new merch, experiences, and treats! Halloween Time at Disneyland We’ve been reviewing all the Halloween treats available at Disneyland this year and so far it’s been a solid showing at the resort! For our latest review, we headed over to Disneyland Park’s Main Street U.S.A. to try some spooky snacks and we have plenty of thoughts! For our review, we visited Jolly Holiday Bakery Cafe to try the Jack-O’-Lantern Mickey Pumpkin Macaron and Hazelnut Brownie Tart With Chocolate Frosting, as well as Refreshment Corner to pick up a Philly Potato Dog. Without further ado, let’s see if they’re worth haunting the park for or if these snacks scared us away! Jolly Holiday Let’s start with the Jack-O’-Lantern Mickey Pumpkin Macaron for $8.29 at Jolly Holiday! Jack-O’-Lantern Mickey Pumpkin Macaron This dessert is a pumpkin macaron shell filled with caramel buttercream and pumpkin cheesecake. The macaron wasn’t too crumbly and managed to stay in one piece, surprisingly! The cookie aspect had a hard shell but was soft inside and the filling was mostly a sweet caramel flavor with hints of pumpkin. The buttercream was cool with a light and creamy texture and, overall, this was way lighter and more pleasant than we were expecting! A spooky, yet tasty treat! Pumpkin and/or caramel lovers should give this a try while those opposed to both flavors should probably look elsewhere for a Halloween snack. Jolly Holiday Bakery Cafe Speaking of other Halloween snacks, next we tried the Hazelnut Brownie Tart with Chocolate Frosting for $5.49! Hazelnut Brownie Tart with Chocolate Frosting This treat is made with hazelnut spread and brownie filling topped with chocolate frosting and sprinkles. The crust was nice and buttery. We found it to have a rich chocolatey taste throughout, but not enough hazelnut since the interior brownie flavor overpowers the hazelnut. Still, this is a great chocolatey treat! We did enjoy this more than the macaron and love that it’s so affordable! Cheap, yet delicious If you’re craving a rich and heavy chocolatey dessert, this is the snack for you. If you’re not a chocolate lover, this is unlikely to win you over. We ADORE chocolate, so this dessert was a big win. Refreshment Corner The lone treat we tried at Refreshment Corner was the Philly Potato Dog for $13.79. Philly Potato Dog Modeled after a Philly cheesesteak, this snack is made with a baked potato, all-beef hot dog, thinly sliced beef, peppers, pepperoncini, provolone, and cherry spread. Our first impression was that this thing looked a mess — almost akin to dog food. Still, we wanted to give it a fair shake and we were pleasantly surprised. the all-beef hot dog is very tasty, hearty, and delicious on its own. The baked potato “bun” was fluffy and baked perfectly with a nice buttery flavor. Our beef was a bit dry but tasted better when blended with everything else. The main complaint was that there was too much going on here. The spread flavor doesn’t really give cherry and there was some hidden spice that wasn’t expected. Also, this is not a great snack to eat during a hot day, as it’s super filling and full of ingredients that work better in fall and winter weather. We ate ours on a scorching hot day and we felt the ramifications after. It looks gross but tastes solid With all that said, the individual ingredients were all very good and we enjoyed eating each piece individually. Also, the portion size is humungous, justifying the price and making this a solid value. You can definitely eat this for lunch and feel satisfied. This isn’t a traditional Philly cheesesteak, so it might not appease you if that’s what you’re looking for. However, adventurous eaters may like this, as will people who want a hearty hotdog or tasty baked potato. Disneyland Refreshment Corner There you have it! 8. It’s not uncommon for Disney rides to be closed during your vacation. Pirates of the Caribbean Disneyland Disneyland Resort and Disney World are home to dozens of rides each, and many of those rides are a few decades old. For safety, attractions must get regularly scheduled refurbishments to keep them up to date. Thankfully, you can check the calendars online to see which rides will be closed during your trip! The Disneyland Monorail has been unavailable since August, due to a refurbishment closure. This means that those heading into Disneyland from Downtown Disney or Disneyland Hotel have had to walk to the park instead of ride in style. Disneyland Monorail But now, we know when the Monorail will reopen! According to the Disneyland website, the Monorail has operating hours again starting on September 13th. On that day, it will be open from 8AM-midnight. ©Disney Keep in mind that quite a few rides are closed for refurbishment in Disneyland Resort right now. Much of Critter Country is currently closed as it undergoes a major transformation to become Bayou Country, along with the Disneyland Railroad, Great Moments with Mr. Lincoln, and Indiana Jones Adventure. Indiana Jones Adventure It’s also important to note that a large section of Disneyland Park is covered in construction walls as work is completed near Haunted Mansion, in Critter Country, and at Tiana’s Bayou Adventure. Exciting things are coming in the future! Entrances to Critter Country are closed So if you’re heading to Disneyland Resort soon, make sure to check the calendar before your visit and see which rides are closed. 9. There may be times on your Disney World vacation that you just don’t feel like going out to eat and would rather have a nice meal together in your hotel room. Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin Sometimes, you may be so tired from your day at the parks that ordering an in-room pizza is just what you need. Perhaps you’re having a mid-afternoon break in your hotel room, and ordering your meal lets your little ones nap longer. Whatever the reason, being able to order room service right from an app on your phone is a great option that is only available at three Disney World hotels. The Walt Disney World Swan, Dolphin, and Swan Reserve are hotels on the Disney World Resort. The Swan and Dolphin are both within walking distance of Hollywood Studios and EPCOT, and there is also a boat dock that can take you directly to the two parks. Swan & Dolphin These three hotels are not owned by Disney, but instead are owned by Marriott. This means that you can use and earn Marriott reward points when staying there, plus Disney offers many of the same perks as its Deluxe Resorts to guests of the Swan, Dolphin, and Swan Reserve. This means guests of these three resorts can take advantage of perks like Extended Evening Hours. Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin Since these hotels are owned by Marriott and not Disney, they have their own app. You can download the Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin mobile app to keep track of your reservation and to see things like restaurant menus and amenity hours. It is also where you can order In-Room Dining! This is a feature even the My Disney Experience app (Disney World app) doesn’t have for Disney’s hotels. ©Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin You can order in room dining for breakfast and dinner at the Swan and Dolphin and breakfast, lunch, and dinner at the Swan Reserve. The cool thing about this feature is that you can order for immediate delivery OR you can pre-order your meal for delivery at a later time. So if you’re on a bus back to the hotel and your kiddo is going to be taking a nap right away, you can pre-order your meal for the time you plan for them to wake up! ©Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin There’s a pretty wide variety of menu options including pizza and sushi as well as other entrees! ©Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin You can order off the kids’ menu as well. ©Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin And if you’re staying at the Swan Reserve, you can also order flatbreads from Amare. ©Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin This is a neat and convenient feature for guests staying at one of the Swan and Dolphin hotels at Disney World! 11. Disney is getting dragged into politics again. Magic Kingdom For much of 2022 and 2023, Disney found itself locked in a political battle with Florida governor and Republican presidential candidate Ron DeSantis. Issues initially spurred from Disney’s objection to the controversial DeSantis-backed Parental Rights in Education Act legislation in Florida, before exploding into a larger “culture war” issue regarding Disney’s “special district” status in Florida. The issue seems to be resolved through a settlement and a new Disney deal with Florida earlier this year. However, the company has now been dragged back into the political spotlight thanks to the upcoming 2024 United States Presidential Election. On September 10th, Vice President Kamala Harris and former President Donald Trump will engage in a presidential debate, the first of the cycle since Harris replaced incumbent President Joe Biden, who dropped out of the race in July. The debate will be broadcast on Disney-owned ABC, and moderated by the network’s David Muir and Linsey Davis. In the days leading up to the debate, conservative pundit and longtime Trump friend and supporter Sean Hannity spoke out against Disney on his Fox News show. After saying that the debate will not be fair “barring some kind of political miracle,” Hannity claimed that “ABC-Disney is officially a woke, left-wing organization.” He went on to attack Muir, ABC political commentator George Stephanopoulos (who is not moderating the debate), and ABC late-night host Jimmy Kimmel for alleged “hard-core politically left” views. ABC From there, Hannity insinuated that any perceived biases against Trump in the debate could lead to a boycott of Disney. The host expounded, “Maybe Bob Iger and his left-wing heir apparent, maybe they don’t want half the country to attend their theme parks. Maybe they don’t care about their tanking stock price, which is their prerogative. They’re free to make that choice, but if they are biased against Donald Trump, as they have been leading into tomorrow night as their nightly newscast is, half the country is not going to like it one bit. They are not going to like ABC-Disney one bit either.” Fox News While Hannity’s oblique threat of a boycott doesn’t seem likely to lead to anything no matter how Tuesday night’s debate goes, Disney has once again been dragged into the political realm. 12. Some pretty significant changes are coming to EPCOT. EPCOT EPCOT is fresh off its transformation that resulted in CommuniCore Hall and CommuniCore Plaza, but it appears that the Disney World park isn’t done. Disney announced some big changes coming to EPCOT’s The Seas with Nemo & Friends Pavilion and, unfortunately, the news might be disappointing to some. Within the next few weeks, one manatee and three dolphins are about to be PERMANENTLY moved out of their The Seas with Nemo & Friends habitats in EPCOT. Manatee feeding time Lou the 1,800-pound manatee is scheduled to be permanently relocated to a manatee rehabilitation center in Florida starting Wednesday, September 11th, 2024. Manatee Lil Joe, the other habitat’s resident, won’t be alone very long, though, as another manatee is set to replace Lou in the habitat soon after the relocation. Manatee However, the biggest change is coming to the dolphin habitat. Disney World announced that it is relocating three dolphins to the Gulfarium Marine Adventure Park in Fort Walton Beach at some point in late October. This move will effectively end the EPCOT Seas Adventures — Dolphins in Depth tour. ©Disney Disney World addressed both decisions in a statement, writing, “While we will greatly miss Lou, we do look forward to aiding this other manatee in the next stage of rehabilitation as we continue to do our part in addressing the manatee crisis in Florida, which has seen declining manatee populations in the past few years.” Per the statement, this change reflects other manatee moves being done around Florida that were recommended by the Manatee Rehabilitation Partnership and the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Services. Manatee As for the decision to relocate the three male dolphins and close Dolphins in Depth, Disney wrote, “This decision came after a comprehensive evaluation as to what is best for these dolphins as infrastructure work progresses at The Seas.” Dolphins in Depth is a two-hour backstage tour and dolphin encounter and will end on October 19th, 2024. Additionally, EPCOT Seas Adventures — DiveQuest, a two-hour backstage tour and SCUBA experience in a 5.7-million-gallon saltwater aquarium full of all kinds of aquatic life like sea turtles, reef fish, stingrays, and sharks, will also close on October 19th. However, unlike Dolphins in Depth, Disney says DiveQuest will reopen in 2025. Reservations for both experiences will still be valid through October 19th. ©Disney We have to admit, although we understand the changes, we’re a bit bummed. 14. We spent an evening at one of the least talked about Disney World lounges — and it didn’t disappoint! Barcelona Lounge is calling you over. It’s no secret that here at DFB we often prefer to dine at the lounges inside Disney World hotels and parks instead of their proper restaurants, and sometimes that rings even more true when there’s incredible food and stunning views involved. So when we got the chance to come out to one of the most luxurious moderate hotels in all of Disney World, we thought it was an offer too good to pass up! You’ll find the Barcelona Lounge inside the Gran Destino Tower of Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort. This gorgeous lounge offers a selection of artisanal cocktails and specialty coffees along with a few lounge snacks. Barcelona Lounge The eclectic decor features highlights of the Spanish culture with bright colors, soaring detailed columns, and a comfortable seating area for small parties and solo travelers alike. Atmosphere It’s very easy to mistake this lounge for just open seating space based on its inviting design, but that’s also the beauty of it that draws you in. As you descend the stairs from the main entrance of Gran Destino Tower at Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort, you’ll find the beautiful natural light shining through the massive windows that make up the back wall surrounded by cozy lounge seats. Lounge seating As you look around, you’ll find the cascading metal chandelier that glistens in the middle of the tower, and can see several of the tower’s floors from different angles. Chandelier As your gaze ventures back towards the lounge, you’re greeted by the colorful stained glass background of the massive bar area which is flanked by bench seats with short tables… Bar …several standard tables with padded chairs… Tables with chairs …and a long table for larger parties (or those who don’t mind making a new friend in their neighbor) with hightop seats. Larger table with seating As you can see there’s plenty to feast your eyes on around you, and the decor here is some of the best we’ve seen in a Disney World hotel lounge! Menu Since this is a Disney World hotel lounge, the menu lineup here is fancy but not terribly extensive. There are a few specialty cocktails and lounge snacks offered here… Specialty cocktails and lounge snacks …along with options of American and Spanish coffees, fountain beverages, and hot tea. Coffee, tea, and beverages The menu may be short and sweet here, but it knows how to leave a lasting impression! Drinks To start out our lounge experience, we opted to order the Hibiscus Mint Lemonada. This is a non-alcoholic drink option made of Minute Maid Premium Lemonade, Hibiscus-Grenadine, mint, and soda water which cost us $5.99. Hibiscus Mint Lemonada All in all, it’s a fancy pink lemonade. We found it to be a bit sweeter than just a lemonade mostly because of the taste of the hibiscus in it, but the mint adds a nice freshness, too. It’s pretty to look at, leaves a refreshing taste in your mouth as you’re drinking it, and wasn’t badly priced for a lounge mocktail. Since we were visiting a hotel lounge, we knew we needed to try one of the spirited options here as well. So, we ordered a Santa Maria Collins to round out our drinks! This drink is made of Beefeater London Pink Gin, lime, strawberry, and soda water and cost us $16. Santa Maria Collins We found this cocktail to be very gin forward, but it was equally fizzy from the soda water, almost giving the essence of a boozy strawberry soda. You’ll get the hints of strawberry toward the end of your sip and a few hints of the lime flavor, but both were pretty subtle in the mix of the drink. It’s very pretty to look at and photograph, and it wasn’t a terribly strong drink which made it a bit more versatile for flavor pallets. Admittedly, it wasn’t super high on our reporter’s favorites list, however, we could see this as an appealing option for someone else who’s more fond of fizzier drinks made with soda water. Eats Then it was time for a mini feast! A Taste of Barcelona was next on our list to try out! This light dish is made of marinated manchego, aceitunas, and marcona almonds and cost us $16. A Taste of Barcelona Essentially, it’s a trio of small plates that are just the right size to either enjoy yourself or share with a group of friends. The marinated manchego cheese is creamy but does give some resistance when you cut into it. It’s sitting in a pool of the marinade which looks oily when it’s plated. The marinade is also mixed with rosemary sprigs, which gives the cheese a light floral taste. Manchego cheese The almonds are so savory and have a light crunch but have a soft give to them when you bite into each one. They’re also lightly dusted with salt, which gives it another interesting dimension to its taste. Almonds The aceitunas, or olives in English, are vinegary and oily but have a nice pop to them when you bite down into each of them. Aceitunas It’s a nice mixture of snacks that work together to create flavors that can stand alone or complement the drink selections you’ll find here. Overall Overall, we had a great experience here and really enjoyed the time we spent at this lounge. Everything from the attentive service and bartenders, to the atmosphere of the open area, down to the food and drinks felt very genuine to the hotel’s vibe and hospitality. Our plate If you’re looking for a place to grab a drink and share a small plate or two, this is a spot we recommend. However, we do see how the lounge is mostly hidden from passers-by who don’t already know it exists there since it is tucked away in the bottom floor of the tower. Nosh or Not? Seek out this hidden gem of a lounge if… You really enjoy the vibe of this hotel. It’s almost as if the center of this tower is the culmination of the hotel’s atmosphere and culture they’ve created here. It works, and we found it to be incredibly relaxing. You like to be in the “center” of the action. While it’s true the lounge is a bit tucked away, there’s still enough going on around you while visiting that you won’t feel like you’re missing out on much happening at the hotel. You’re looking for the perfect spot to sit and watch the sunset from your hotel or end your day resort hopping. If you’ve spent the day around the hotel and want a great place to enjoy the natural beauty that surrounds it (away from the intense heat and insects) this is a perfect spot to take in an evening sunset, kick back, and relax for a while. Set your sights on another lounge destination if… You’re looking for extensive eats and drinks. The menu here is fairly short and sweet, so if you’re looking for other options, we’d recommend the next closest lounge at the top of the tower, Dahlia Lounge. Spanish cuisine just isn’t for you. There’s certainly a Spanish influence found throughout most of the menu even into the specialty drinks and coffee selections. If this doesn’t sound appealing to you, you might do better at a neighboring hotel’s lounge offerings. You’re REALLY hungry and not sure a small plate would fill you up. Don’t worry, there’s plenty of restaurants at this hotel that offer larger portions than the lounge snacks you’ll find here. If you’re looking for a meal of more sustenance, you might do better at one of those! We’re reviewing restaurants around Disney World constantly! 16. Fall is a popular time to visit Disney World. Magic Kingdom The fall months bring relatively cooler temperatures, Halloween decorations, and entertainment, and lots of families hoping to enjoy fall break from school. This fall in Disney World will be an exciting time as TRON Lightcycle / Run has started using a standby line, Tiana’s Bayou Adventure is up and running, the EPCOT Food and Wine Festival is ongoing, and the Lightning Lane system has recently changed. But these changes aren’t the only ones likely to be happening at the parks; your trip might be getting a bit more expensive. Price increases notoriously hit Disney World every year. The cost of hotels and park tickets increase regularly, but food prices have consistently increased around the same time each year. Blue Ribbon Corn Dogs Over the past several years, we’ve seen food prices increase around October. The increases aren’t usually a lot per item, usually only around 50 cents to $2, but this can add up quickly to your total bill. Your daily budget for food may need to increase starting in October to account for these increases. It will likely only change your total daily amount by $10-$15 (if we’re being generous), but that extra amount per day can increase your total trip budget considerably. Full spread at Trader Sam’s Grog Grotto If you’re heading to Disney World this fall, you’re likely making your final preparations for your trip, so we suggest budgeting a few extra dollars per day just in case you need it. If you end up not needing it, that’s a much better scenario than needing it and not having it! Columbia Harbour House Full Spread We’re not sure what prompts these price increases, but they have occurred around the same time nearly every year. It might be because the fall is right before some of the busiest months at the parks as the holidays approach, but we don’t know that for sure. The best we can do is be prepared for it to happen. Riverside Mill Unfortunately, food isn’t the only thing we see get price increases around this time of year. Merchandise and souvenirs can also jump up in price, so budgeting a little extra for souvenirs might not be a bad idea either. We’ll be watching for these price increases to happen in the next month or so, so keep following DFB for more updates! 18. If you’ve traveled through the Orlando International Airport (MCO), you know it can get BUSY. Terminal C at the Orlando International Airport MCO is often ranked as one of the top 10 busiest airports in the U.S., and we’ve definitely seen that chaos during busy travel seasons like holidays and holiday weekends. During those times, lines for security get incredibly long and the parking garages fill up quickly. But now MCO is doing something to fix one of those problems. Click Orlando reports that MCO plans to build a single-site Consolidated Rental Car Facility (ConRAC) to house all rental cars. This would free up parking spaces in all three parking garages, which could be useful during busy travel times. Orlando International Airport However, this change seems as though it will come at the expense of the rental car customers. The GOAA Board of Directors voted to raise the Customer Facility Charge (CFC) from $6 to $9 daily, starting on November 1st, with a maximum collection period of seven days. This will be the highest CFC in Florida and among the highest in the nation — tied with LAX. Orlando International Airport And the CFC is not the only fee you’ll pay when renting a car. Click Orlando notes, “An airport car rental includes several additional fees like a Concession Recovery Fee, Energy Recovery Fee, Florida Surcharge, Vehicle License Fee, and Waste Tire & Battery Fee. Fees alone for a weeklong rental of an SUV from MCO can total more than $150.” Orlando International Airport This new rental car facility would open up about 5000 parking spaces throughout the A, B, and C garages. Customers would have to be shuttled to the ConRAC by either bus or train. Depending on funding, the project is expected to be completed by 2032. Orlando Airport In the meantime, the short-term parking solution includes parking lots that opened near the train station in 2023. In addition, Garage C, Level 4 is currently using a new parking reservation system that could possibly be expanded in the future. Orlando International Airport Terminal C We’ll keep an eye on any parking news at MCO and keep you in the loop so you can plan for your travels! Stay tuned to DFB for the latest. 19. The popular Disney World After Hours events are RETURNING in 2025! Hollywood Studios at Night If you’re a night owl looking for a way to enjoy the parks with minimal crowds, Disney World has the perfect experience for you! In 2025, After Hours events are returning to Magic Kingdom, EPCOT, and Disney’s Hollywood Studios once again. These limited-ticket events allow guests to enjoy low crowds at the parks and short wait times for some of the most popular attractions. The 2025 After Hours events will kick off on January 6th at Magic Kingdom, January 22nd at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, and February 27th at EPCOT. And while there are a total of 22 After Hours dates scheduled at Disney’s Hollywood Studios next year, there are two specific dates that might give you more of a bang for your buck than the others! Mickey in Hollywood Studios! For most of the After Hours dates in Hollywood Studios, the event is scheduled to run from 9:30PM-12:30AM. However, guests with an After Hours ticket can enter the park as early as 7PM while regular day guests are also still there. Hollywood Studios But there are two exceptions to this schedule. On March 26th and April 1st, Hollywood Studios After Hours will run from 10PM-1AM, starting and ending 30 minutes later than the other dates. After Hours in Hollywood Studios While the event itself is still a total of 3 hours long, guests can still enter the park at 7PM, meaning a Hollywood Studios After Hours ticket for March 26th and April 1st technically includes 30 minutes more park access than tickets for the other dates. 10 Minute Wait Time for Rise of the Resistance at Hollywood Studios After Hours Disney has not yet released the full list of prices for the After Hours dates, so it’s possible that those dates could have higher price tags than some of the other events. But if your main concern is time in the park rather than budget, it could still be worth it to snag a ticket to one of these dates, regardless of the pricing! After Hours Event Crowds The Hollywood Studios attractions open during After Hours include super popular rides like Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance, Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway, Slinky Dog Dash, and MORE, so this could be your shot to experience your must-dos without the long lines! Low Crowds at Rise of the Resistance We’ll continue to be on the lookout for more updates about the 2025 Disney World After Hours events, so stay tuned to DFB for all the latest news! 4 Dumbest Things People Overspend on at Disney World Join the DFB Newsletter to get all the breaking news right in your inbox! 25. Well, you know what they say about the DINOSAUR ride in Disney’s Animal Kingdom… DINOSAUR “It’s fast. It’s a blast. It’s IN THE PAST.” The thing is, this DinoLand U.S.A. attraction is soon going to be really and truly… well, “in the past.” DinoLand, including its signature attraction DINOSAUR, is closing to be transformed into a new land themed to The Tropical Americas: Pueblo Esperanza. Let’s chat about that timeline, shall we? Disney provided a timeline for the opening of Pueblo Esperanza when the new land was officially confirmed in August 2024 at D23 2024: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event. Guests can look forward to entering the Tropical Americas when it opens in 2027, bringing an Encanto-themed attraction, and Indiana Jones attraction, and much more along with it. Pueblo Esperanza Concept Art ©Disney Oh, and speaking of that Indiana Jones ride… while some may be familiar with the Indiana Jones Adventure attraction in Disneyland, the Indiana Jones ride — which will ultimately replace DINOSAUR — will feature a brand-new story. ©Disney As described by Disney, the attraction will follow “the man with the hat” during a time when he has “recently discovered a perfectly preserved Maya temple, and that can only mean one thing: it’s time to explore it. He’s heard rumors about a mythical creature deep within the temple — and he’s got to see it for himself. So, he brings us along on the adventure… but will there be snakes? We’ll just have to wait and see.” Disney has not yet announced an official closing date for DINOSAUR to begin this transformation. However, the company did share that construction on the land is set to begin this fall adding, “but don’t worry, you’ll still have plenty of time to experience Dinosaur again (and get that dino).” THAT DINO! It is also expected that construction for Pueblo Esperanza will happen in phases. So it seems that we will, at the very least, have some time after ringing in the new year (2025) to ride DINOSAUR before it closes. This hypothesis is also based a bit on what Disney has stated in regards to ANOTHER major park transformation. The Rivers of America You see, Magic Kingdom’s Frontierland is being expanded with a new Cars-themed area. The Cars expansion will be replacing what is now Tom Sawyer Island and the Rivers of America. Disney has already stated that work will begin in this area in early 2025. There wasn’t a mention of “plenty” of time to, say, take a trip on the Liberty Square Riverboat. To be clear: Disney has not announced a closing date for these Magic Kingdom attractions, but it will presumably be sooner than the closing date for DINOSAUR. DinoLand U.S.A. You can rest assured that we’ll let you know immediately when the closure date for DINOSAUR (and, while we’re at it, Tom Sawyer Island and the Rivers of America) is revealed. Okay, that’s it. The business portion of this post has concluded, and you are free to go on about your day. But before I wrap up, there’s something personal I’d like to say, if you’ll allow me a moment. Thanks for all the DINO-riffic memories… Change can be hard. And the cliches are true that if we’re lucky, change is hard in some instances because we’ve been fortunate enough to enjoy something so much that it makes it hard to say goodbye, even when there are great new things to look forward to. Look, I’m the girl who is STILL in a mourning period over the closure of Primeval Whirl in DinoLand, U.S.A. that happened YEARS ago. And I’d wager a guess that I’m not alone. Who else misses this? But saying goodbye to DINOSAUR, whenever that happens, will cut a little deeper. And maybe I’m not alone? But it’s not just the Iguanodon that I’ll miss. So here it is: a special message for YOU, Dr. Grant Seeker. Dr. Grant Seeker — HERO of the DINOSAUR pre-show You sure did get us into a lot of trouble trying to hunt down that Iguanodon, and for a while there I thought, “We’re not gonna make it! We’re not gonna make it!” But you know what? WE MADE IT! You really ARE one heck of a paleontologist, if I do say so myself. And even though we look forward to new adventures with Indiana Jones, we’ll never forget all the great times with you, Dr. Helen Marsh (played by the stunning Phylicia Rashad) who arrives “just in time to correct a little misstatement…” DINOSAUR Pre-show: Dr. Helen Marsh and Dr. Grant Seeker … and of course, THAT DINO. THAT DINO! You are the star of my very favorite pre-show in all of Disney World (right after the ol’ Stretching Room, that is). And you’ll be missed. (Oh, and P.S. Nobody’d better be coming for the “Uh… FLY” guy!) “And, uhh… FLY!” WHEW! Thanks for letting me process all of that, friends.
