Okay, it’s super exciting when it comes time to book your Disney World trip. Pop Century You’ve researched hotels, you’ve figured out your budget, you know how long you want to stay, and you know what park tickets you’re getting. So you get on the Disney World website and you start booking your trip…and then something goes wrong. Well, that’s exactly what happened to us today when trying to book a hotel room on the Disney World website. Today, we noticed the Disney World website was doing something weird. We were searching for hotel rooms for September 2025, and instead of giving us the price for the room per night, like the site is SUPPOSED to do, we just kept getting the “Check Availability” button. ©Disney We clicked on that “Check Availability” button and got a pop-up window to allow us to change the dates of our trip. However, when we did that, it just reloaded back to a similar page where all the rooms said “Check Availability.” Well, that’s a bit annoying, right? Room at Disney’s Riviera We also got a message pop up on the My Disney Experience app that some digital experience might be down, so it seems there could be some issues with the app today, too. ©Disney The good news is that we just checked the website again, and the Disney World website seems to be behaving now. If you search for a room for specific dates, you get the prices per night again. However, we wanted to give you a heads up in case you have a similar issue because sometimes these things can still happen. Note that if you do have issues with the website, your best bet is just to wait for a little while and try again. Most of these technical problems are fixed pretty quickly! Then you’ll be able to book your Disney World vacation and start the fun part: counting down the days until you leave for Disney World! Stay tuned to DFB for more. It’s (nearly) the most wonderful time of the year! Shortly after the spooky Halloween season, Disney World will completely transform for the holidays. And that means the Jollywood Nights holiday party is coming back to Disney’s Hollywood Studios for 2024! Powerline Max at Jollywood Nights 2023 Get ready for special guest appearances, musical shows, exclusive treats, and more! Now, this event is still pretty new — the first Jollywood Nights event kicked off back in 2023, and this year, we already know some CHANGES have been confirmed. In fact, Disney just confirmed that reservations are opening soon for a party-exclusive event. Let’s take a look! If you want to experience a party-within-a-party, you might want to check out Jazzy Holidays at Jollywood Nights. This limited-capacity event takes place at the Hollywood Brown Derby, where you can enjoy craft cocktails, light bites, and live piano music. Jazzy Holidays inside The Hollywood Brown Derby 2023 Last year, you had to join a walk-up waitlist during the party to get inside. Then, you could visit the restaurant to enjoy a special menu full of holiday-themed eats. It was a fun little way to spend the evening, but keep in mind that it does take up a good chunk of party time. Learn more about Jazzy Holidays here! Disney is making changes to the process of visiting Jazzy Holidays this year. This year, you can make an advance dining reservation before the party to guarantee access to the event! Reservations will open on September 17th, and capacity is limited. ©Disney Note that any food and beverages included here are not included with your Disney Jollywood Nights event ticket, and only the event-exclusive menu will be offered. Crispy Duck Drumettes Disney also confirmed that the Twilight Soirée at the Tip Top Club is returning to The Hollywood Tower Hotel (Tower of Terror). This little live concert features cocktails and a jazzy band, with music sets at 7:30PM, 8:10PM, 8:50PM, 9:30PM, 10:30PM, 11:10PM, and 11:50PM. Rachel and the Alley Cats at the Tower of Terror Party If you’re in the mood for even MORE musical fun, visit Holiday Fiesta en la Calle. It is a holiday street fair with live music and FUN eats. Mexican Hot Cocoa Cheesecake Look out for rare characters during the event, too, like Phineas and Ferb, Max Goof as Powerline, Rescue Rangers Chip ‘n’ Dale, Santa Stitch, Santa Duffy, and more! As you can see, there is a LOT to keep you busy during the party. It’s Phineas and Ferb! If you’re interested in booking a Jazzy Holidays reservation, make sure to secure your spot as soon as you can! Disney didn’t share how many reservations will be available each night. Have you ever used a virtual queue in Disney World? Magic Kingdom For the past few years, virtual queues have been common for newly-opened Disney rides, starting with Rise of the Resistance in Hollywood Studios, and being used as recently as Tiana’s Bayou Adventure in Magic Kingdom. There doesn’t seem to be a set “rule” on how long Disney chooses to operate new rides with a virtual queue system, but we saw Rise of the Resistance swap to a standby line after a few years when the initial demand had died down a bit. Now, another attraction is getting rid of its virtual queue! Disney has announced that TRON Lightcycle / Run in Magic Kingdom will be switching to a standby queue soon! The ride will continue to use a virtual queue system through September 8th, but will swap over to standby starting on September 9th. TRON Lightcycle / Run This means that if you’re visiting on September 8th or before, you’ll need to use the My Disney Experience app to either join the virtual queue or purchase a Lightning Lane Single Pass to experience the ride. Those will be the only ways to gain access. Once September 9th hits, you can either wait in the regular standby line or purchase the Lightning Lane Single Pass to use the Lightning Lane entrance. TRON Lightning Lane TRON Lightcycle / Run opened in Magic Kingdom in April 2023, so it has been in operation for nearly a year and a half at this point. Virtual queues have still been relatively popular for the ride, so if you want to snag one in the coming days, you’ll need to set alarms on your phone to remind you, and be ready on the dot at 7AM or 1PM. TRON Lightcycle / Run Virtual Queue Currently, two other attractions in Disney World also use virtual queue — Tiana’s Bayou Adventure and Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind. Tiana’s just opened earlier this summer, but Guardians has been open since May 2022. Currently, there is no update about when these rides will switch to standby. TRON Lightcycle / RUN Lighting Lane We’ll keep you in the loop with any more ride news, so stay tuned to DFB! Click Here to Learn More About TRON Lightcycle / Run! Secret menu alert! If you like feeling like a true insider, you need to listen up. There’s only one way to order this super-secret Disney World drink, and it comes with an expensive prerequisite. Joffrey’s Coffee Kiosk The 2024 EPCOT Food & Wine Festival is officially underway, and we are SO excited. We’ve got you covered with everything you need to know, and now we’re heading to a popular EPCOT destination — the Joffrey’s Coffee & Tea Company carts — to give you the SECRET scoop! Is this top-secret drink worth a try? Let’s find out! Menu OK, first of all, you should know that there are four different Joffrey’s locations in EPCOT, and each has its own specialty beverage for the festival. We’ve already reviewed these fun new drinks, and ANYONE in EPCOT can order them. Joffrey’s Now, here’s where things get interesting. This year, for the Food and Wine Festival, Joffrey’s is also offering a secret menu item exclusively for Annual Passholders! Drink Say hello to the Little Chef’s Kiss! This is an Annual Passholder festival exclusive available at Joffrey’s locations throughout EPCOT. Technically, this drink is $6.49, but with your AP discount, it is $5.19. So really, since the only people who can buy this drink are Annual Passholders, the price is $5.19. There is NO signage for this drink, and a Cast Member did ask to see our Annual Pass when we ordered the drink. Little Chef’s Kiss This drink is made with Joffrey’s espresso, blended with French vanilla syrup, dark chocolate sauce and your choice of milk, topped with a swirl of whipped cream and a drizzle of white chocolate sauce. Now, as you can see, our drink was actually topped with a dark chocolate drizzle, but we didn’t ask for any changes. That’s just the way they made it! Here’s a peek at the toppings! OK, good news. This was delicious. It was a nice, rich iced mocha drink that was quite refreshing! We had no complaints about this one. If you want to feel like you’re an insider who knows how to order off the menu, this is the drink for you! It’s a fun little secret that is just for us Disney experts. Welcome to the club! It is Food and Wine time! The 2024 EPCOT Food and Wine Festival is officially here, and we’ve tried every. single. booth. 2024 Food and Wine Festival There were some clear winners and clear losers at this year’s festival. Some returning favorites did not disappoint while new items shined bright. And of course, we could NOT get enough cheese! However, there were a few booths that almost sent us running before we even tasted their items, but they turned out to be worth our time and money. These five booths may not look like much at first glance, and may even look a little scary, but trust us, they’re worth the stop during the 2024 EPCOT Food and Wine Festival! Coastal Eats Some people may question eating fresh seafood at a theme park and in particular fresh LOBSTER at a theme park quick service location, and we were right there with you really wondering if these options would be any good. Who would see lobster on a menu at a theme park and think, “Hmm…yes I’m going to get the lobster tail from a kiosk window.”? Coastal Eats Full Spread Well, we can confirm that this lobster tail was TOTALLY worth it. The Roasted Warm Water Lobster Tail with garlic butter was delicious! It came with a nice-sized portion of lobster especially considering we only paid $13 for it. If you’re a seafood fan, don’t be scared off by the thought of lobster at a theme park — you gotta check it out. Roasted Warm Water Lobster Tail Read Our Full Coastal Eats Review France The menu at the France booth sounds mostly amazing. There’s an egg moelleux with goat cheese and caramelized onions and a mango crème brûlée. Aside from this menu being in French and perhaps a little daunting for non-French speaking people, there’s one item on the menu that might scare many people away from this booth — Brioche aux Escargots. Yep, snails. Full Spread But do not let that scare you off! While our reporter described this dish as “slimy yet satisfying,” it was their favorite item at this booth. The brioche pastry was flaky, buttery, and garlicky. The escargot was fantastic, and we highly recommend giving this dish a try! Brioche aux Escargots Read More About the France Booth Items Here Australia It’s not the menu at the Australia booth that we’re worried will scare you off but instead the actual booth itself. You’ll find items like Grilled Bushberry shrimp and the Roasted Lamb Chop on the menu, but the physical booth kind of looks a little, uh, thrown together. Australia Temporary Booth This booth started the festival in a temporary tent location. According to a Cast Member, they were waiting on permits for the actual booth but it may take a few weeks. In the meantime, don’t let the tent scare you off! The food here is fantastic and worth a stop! Full Spread at Australia Check Out Our Review of the Australia Booth Here Flavors from Fire Flavors from Fire is where you’ll find the infamous Swine Brine. You may see this on the menu and think “Uh, no way am I trying that.” Swine Brine is made with Jim Beam Bourbon, apple cinnamon cider, lemon juice, and Dijon mustard, so we get the turn-off. Flavors from Fire Spread But our reporter LOVED it! They found that this had a briny, pickle juice taste that worked shockingly well. In fact, they thought it was great. So before turning away from this booth, we suggest giving it a try at least once! Plus, the food here was excellent. Swine Brine with Jim Beam Bourbon Check Out Our Full Review of Flavors from Fire Connections Eatery Connections Eatery is a restaurant you can find year-round in EPCOT, so you may not think to go there for festival food and drinks. Plus, it’s a simple counter service restaurant and if you look at the picture of the festival offerings, you may think it looks like a simple fast-food meal and beverage. Full Spread 2024 But don’t count this restaurant out of the Food and Wine Festival game! The Korean BBQ Chicken Sandwich was INCREDIBLE! The chicken was coated in a delicious glaze with great flavor. And the Blackberry Caipiroska cocktail was just as good. We hope to see it around for other festivals! So don’t overlook this restaurant’s festival options! Blackberry Caipiroska Read Our Full Connections Eatery Review Here There are tons of great items at this year’s Food and Wine Festival! Don’t miss out on the over 30 booths of food and drinks. Okay, let’s face it: going to Disney World is NOT cheap. In fact, it can be kinda’ pricey. Let’s Celebrate! HOWEVER, that’s not to say that you can’t get some things in Disney World ON THE CHEAP, or even for free. For example, you can get free water at most quick service restaurants. You can get free celebration buttons to celebrate special occasions in the park. You can get inexpensive upgrades for those buttons. You can also find souvenirs that won’t break the bank. So when we asked you, our DFB readers, what your favorite inexpensive or free things in Disney World are, you told us. Here’s what they had to say! Transportation Perhaps the most common answer from our followers was that they LOVE taking advantage of the complimentary transportation in Disney World. In particular, our readers really enjoyed the Disney Skyliner. One person said, “It is the best. It is like a ride in itself. The first time we were there it was when Covid was ending so they were only putting one family per gondola. Me and my kids had the best times being silly in them.” Skyliner Readers loved the Skyliner because of its great views and the many locations you could visit while riding it. Other transportation methods that got mentions included the boats and the Monorail — so many options for visiting the resorts and hopping between the parks. People Watching Of course, another great way to spend NO extra money in Disney World is to do some people watching! There are quite literally thousands of people in the parks every day and sometimes just sitting down and watching the tourists pass by can be entertaining. Crowds in EPCOT One person said that their favorite pastime was, “Sitting and watching all the people walk by and enjoying every minute.” It doesn’t cost you anything! Resort Hopping You know what you can do without a park ticket? Visit the Disney World Resort hotels! It’s totally free to visit the hotels, but you might need to get a little creative, since you can’t typically park at the hotels without a reservation or a dining reservation. One great way to do this is to park at Disney Springs or a theme park and then use Disney transportation to get around. Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort Each of the different hotels has a unique theme and many have stunning scenery. Our readers had great things to say about several different resorts, from Yeehaw Bob at Port Orleans to the fantastic holiday decorations at the Monorail resorts. There are so many reasons to visit! Interacting with Cast Members One really sweet answer that several people gave is they love taking the time to interact with Cast Members in Disney World! One reader answered on Facebook, “The kindness of Cast Members and the fellowship with other Disney fans. Even when things go bad on trips, we always have at least one memorable interaction with Cast Members or other fans that makes our trip special” Cast Members Cast Members are known for making Disney World trips extra magical with their kindness and theme park knowledge. We’re often reminded of how integral Cast Members are to the parks when we interact with them on a daily basis. Stop and have a chat with one on your next Disney trip — you might learn something! Entertainment Last but not least, our readers were really big fans of the complimentary entertainment in the parks, especially the streetmosphere entertainment like the Dapper Dans. They mentioned that just walking through the parks and happening upon little shows was what helped make their visits special. Dapper Dans Resort entertainment offerings were also mentioned a few times! You can find some special entertainment at resort restaurants or in locations like Disney’s BoardWalk. There’s no shortage of talent in Disney World! So there you have it — our readers’ favorite no-cost things to do in Disney World! What makes your list? With its twinkling lights, upbeat music and glowing characters, the Electrical Water Pageant has been dazzling guests at Walt Disney World from the very beginning … literally! From 1971 to now, this one-of-a-kind, complimentary nighttime spectacle has become a classic for Disney fans visiting from around the globe. Whether you’re watching the Electrical Water Pageant for the first time along the shores of Bay Lake and Seven Seas Lagoon or pointing out your favorite scenes to friends while riding the monorail, we’re bringing you behind the scenes for a look into this spectacular’s sparkling history with some insider info on the best places to see it. Early Concepts of Disney’s Electrical Water Pageant While dreaming up ideas for Disney World, the project team wanted to create something that could entertain hotel guests after Magic Kingdom closed for the night. Disney Legend and Imagineer Marc Davis was tapped for the task. You may be familiar with some of his other work. He created character concepts for iconic Disney attractions like the Enchanted Tiki Room, Pirates of the Caribbean, Haunted Mansion and more. Some of his early concept art for the Electrical Water Pageant shows the parade almost had a Fantasia (1940) theme (pictured above) but later evolved into a show that could tell many stories in glowing, glittering animation on the water – and Disney Legend Bob Jani helped bring this concept to life. “The Walt Disney World property was so vast that we had no horizon lights, or any city lights, which meant we had perfect black, and I just started fantasizing about what we could do with that,” Bob said. On Oct. 24, 1971, the Electrical Water Pageant’s patriotic finale was accompanied by fireworks. The sky was the limit, and what they created was a stunning show where characters appeared out of the night as if by magic. It continues to shine more than 50 years later. Peeking behind the pixie dust, the magic actually happens on two 456-foot barges made up of 25-foot-tall screens. Each panel is covered in twinkling lights that blink on and off to bring parade characters and stunning scenery to life. Iconic Disney Music for an Iconic Disney Parade Complementing its stunning visuals, the Electrical Water Pageant was the very first show where guests heard the “electro-synthe-magnetic musical sounds” of “Baroque Hoedown.” Recorded on synthesizers in 1967 by electronic music composers Gershon Kingsley and Jean-Jacques Perrey, “Baroque Hoedown” went on to become legendary at Disney. I know what you’re thinking, and yes, that’s the very same song that was used in the Main Street Electrical Parade at Disneyland, Disney World and Disneyland Paris! Guests watched the debut of the Electrical Water Pageant from the beach of Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort on Oct. 24, 1971.The Legacy of the Electrical Water Pageant at Disney Parks The Electrical Water Pageant officially debuted on October 24, 1971. Less than 24 hours later, Roy O. Disney delivered Disney World’s official dedication at Magic Kingdom. Guests sat in rows of chairs along the beach of the resort after, oohing and aahing as the pageant floated by. The show was incredibly popular. So much so that when new nighttime entertainment was being designed for Disneyland, Bob Jani pitched an idea for how they could bring the Electrical Water Pageant to shore on the West Coast. The Electrical Water Pageant was the direct forerunner of the Main Street Electrical Parade. So, in 1972, the Main Street Electrical Parade stepped off for the first time at Disneyland with original floats that used twinkling lights on flat panels just like the Electrical Water Pageant. It also used the same music: Perrey and Kingsley’s “Baroque Hoedown.” The toe-tapping track may not have reached its now-legendary status if not for the parade’s aquatic forerunner at Disney World. From 1971 to Now Since its debut, the show has been updated with new music and characters. Did you know that long before Ariel was designed for “The Little Mermaid,” there was a trio of red-headed mermaids in the show? The pageant has also featured special, limited-time finale scenes over the years that highlight milestone anniversaries at Walt Disney World – like during our 50th Anniversary celebration or the Tencennial! While the show has had many iterations over the past 53 years, the Electrical Water Pageant continues to be one of the most beloved complimentary nighttime entertainment offerings at Disney World. Today, a small but mighty crew of five Disney Transportation cast members drive the twinkling barges across Seven Seas Lagoon and Bay Lake every night. Many have been working at the Electrical Water Pageant for decades and feel great pride in bringing this vacation staple to life each night. Where to Watch the Electrical Water Pageant Some of the most tenured cast members who pilot the pageant shared their insider knowledge on the very best places to watch the show. Here’s what they recommend: Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa – The patio at Narcoossee’s and the resort boat dock Disney’s Contemporary Resort – The resort boat dock Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort – The resort boat dock and beach Disney’s Wilderness Lodge – Geyser Point Bar & Grill Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground – The resort boat dock and beach Whether you’re adding the Electrical Water Pageant to your vacation must-dos for the first time, or your family has been watching it for decades, we hope you enjoy the spectacle just a little bit more now that you know its history! Something NEW just debuted at Disney World’s Halloween party and we think you’re gonna love it! It’s Halloween in Disney World! We’ve had a ton of fun kicking off this season’s first Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween party and checking out all the eats, treats, spooky entertainment, and rare character meet and greets we could get around to in one night. But, if you’ve already attended one of this year’s parties, this party exclusive may be the thing to make you book another trip sooner than you expected! If you’ve been considering a trip to Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party this year at Disney World we may have just found the right leverage to make you actually snag those tickets soon! These parties are held throughout the late Summer through the Fall season in Magic Kingdom on select nights as a special ticketed event not included with regular park admission. The parties start at 7PM and end at 12AM but, party guests can enter the park as early as 4PM with just the party ticket (giving you an option to start getting in a few rides or snacks before the festivities start). Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party These parties are a hit year after year due to their immensely popular party exclusives which include whole lines of merchandise. We just can’t seem to help ourselves when it comes to good Disney Halloween merch! We were stunned to find out that Disney World dropped the Mickey pumpkin popcorn bucket after initially stating it would be found in Disneyland for this Halloween season. Isn’t he just adorable?! Mickey Pumpkin Popcorn Bucket But, that’s not the only playful “trick” Disney World seemed to have up its sleeve! Just days ago, Disney also teased that a 2nd party-exclusive popcorn bucket would become available during MNSSHP and of course, we had to go see what all the fuss was about! After standing in line for hours before the party officially started, we finally were met with our “treat”! Scary Teddy! If this little guy looks familiar that’s because you’ve probably briefly seen him featured in Tim Burton’s The Nightmare Before Christmas. Scary Teddy seems to have been a hit on his debut day as we overheard several disappointed partygoers noting they were sold out before they had a chance to snag one. Scary Teddy popcorn bucket He’s truly a sight to behold and much larger than we anticipated from the promotional picture! The arms and legs move to a seated and out front position making him somewhat posable. While the Scary Teddy popcorn bucket doesn’t light up, the friendly Cast Member who introduced his appearance in the line did explain that the eyes and teeth can glow after being in direct light for a bit. ©Disney The top half of his head leans back (a la Stitch style) to reveal your golden popcorn cavern to scoop your snack out of… There’s the popcorn! …and there are also a few notable characters from the movie on the carrying strap… Love the carrying strap design …plus his backside includes a long cape! The cape We figured this little guy would be a smash hit at only $26 to purchase and we’re glad we didn’t wait too long to get a peek at him before they were all sold out. These popcorn buckets are sold ONLY during MNSSHP while supplies last and the Cast Members did tell us that there is a limit of 2 per popcorn bucket style per wristband in each transaction. Okay, we like to talk a LOT about our favorite — and some of the best — snacks in Disney World. Magic Kingdom How many times will we talk about Corn Dog Nuggets, or Mini Corn Dogs, or whatever Disney is calling them these days? A LOT (especially mentioning that plastic CHEEEEEESSSEEE). We’re also super big fans of Totchos and mention them A LOT. However, we’re going to turn things around for a bit as we head on over to Magic Kingdom. Sorry to get negative here, but we’re going to tell you about the WORST snacks available at Magic Kingdom. Basically, though, we’re just warning you, so you’ll know better. We’ll warn you now: Magic Kingdom may be our least favorite park when it comes to food, so it may seem like we’re picking on it, and maybe we are. With that being said, here are the WORST snacks in Magic Kingdom. Waffle snacks at Sleepy Hollow So here’s the thing: Sleepy Hollow used to have our FAVORITE snacks because they had these delicious waffle sandwiches: one savory with a spicy chicken and another with fruit and chocolate-hazelnut spread. Then, Disney did the unthinkable: they changed the waffles AND the menu. What was once our favorite thing is now one of our least favorite things. The new waffles are Mickey-shaped, and while that’s often a good thing, the new waffles are completely different. Fruit Mickey Waffle The old waffles were soft and crispy. The new waffles are almost pancake-like and once all the toppings get added, they get all soggy and gross. We’re not sure why Disney thought this was a good idea, but we’re still begging for the old waffles to come back (hey, it worked with the Hush Puppies at Columbia Harbour House, so we have hope). Read our review of these new waffles here Turkey leg Turkey legs are gross. There, we said it. Sure, some people think they might be fun to carry around, but at the same time, they just aren’t a snack we’re going to voluntarily eat. They are smoky and meaty, but they’re also salty, greasy, and grisly. Ew. This is one snack you’ll never convince us to like. Turkey Leg The thing is — we rarely see people walking around Magic Kingdom with one of these things, so why are they still available? We guess SOMEONE is ordering them, and if it’s you, we’re sorry because we don’t agree with your snack choices. Read our turkey leg review Plant-based Cheese Pizza at Pinocchio Village Haus Over at Pinocchio Village Haus, you can get a plant-based “cheese” pizza. But trust us, you don’t want to. It’s a regular pizza topped with tomato sauce and plant-based cheese. It might as well be a microwave pizza and the “cheese” is weird because the consistency is more like a melty cream cheese. Does this look appetizing to you? The crust is also thin and chewy, and when we tried it, we even tried to doctor it up with barbecue sauce and red pepper flakes. But there’s no hope for this snack. There are better plant-based options in the parks, so we’ll always tell, you to skip this one. Read our full review of this pizza Mickey Cereal Treat with Freeze-Dried SKITTLES at Main Street Confectionery Okay, Disney is suddenly OBSESSED with putting freeze-dried Skittles on everything, and we’re not sure why. Maybe there’s a kid in charge of the menu or something…who knows? Anyway, the Mickey Crispy Treat dipped in white chocolate with freeze dried Skittles was a HUGE mistake. Would you try this treat? Admittedly, it looked kinda’ cool, but flavor-wise? These are flavors that don’t work well together. Separately, maybe? Together? NO WAY. Read our full review of this snack Pork Carnitas Rice Bowl at Pecos Bill Pecos Bill has been going downhill in the food department for a while now. We’re not big fans of much of the menu here, but the Pork Carnitas Rice Bowl is particularly bad. It’s made with cilantro rice topped with seasoned pork, grilled peppers and onions, pinto beans, lettuce, tomato, sour cream, and salsa. You’d think it would be loaded with flavor, but the meat isn’t seasoned well AT ALL and some of the pieces are fatty. YUCK. Pork Carnitas Rice Bowl That’s not all, though. It’s served with pinto beans, which are kinda’ boring. The cilantro rice has zero cilantro flavor and the last time we ordered this bowl, much of our rice was undercooked. Read our most recent Pecos Bill review So with all that being said, Magic Kingdom really needs to step up its snacks game. As we said, the potential is there, but something has got to give with the current menus. Stay tuned to DFB for more. REVIEW: Should Disney RETIRE These Old Snacks? It’s not always pixie dust and fairy tales at Disney World. Magic Kingdom That means that when you’re planning for a trip to Disney World, it’s always better to go in with your eyes wide open. So while Disney has some amazing experiences, rides, and food, there are a couple of brutal realities that no one really talks about, but you need to know! As we said, Disney World is magical, but there are some brutal realities that you need to know about. Let’s go over some of them now! “Magical” Doesn’t Mean “Perfect” As you can imagine, the word “magic” gets thrown around a lot when people talk about Disney World, but here’s the truth — not everything is perfect. You’ll find that rides break down, shows get canceled, and sometimes the “magic” is just not there. Space Mountain is notoriously closed. For example, imagine that you’ve been gearing up for Space Mountain all day, only to find out it’s temporarily closed right when you get there. Or that you’ve been setting aside time to catch that your favorite parade, just to have it get rained out. Rainy day in Disney World To be sure, Disney tries hard, but the reality is that things can and do go wrong. So, just be ready to roll with the punches because even Disney World can have an “off” day. The Pressure to Have the “Perfect” Day Is Real Even us “Disney pros” have had this happen to us — You think you’re headed for quite literally the best day ever, but instead, you end up feeling like you’ve run back-to-back marathons. EPCOT For some reason there’s this insane pressure to hit every ride, catch every show, and make every meal reservation on time, and let’s not forget the stress of making sure your story on social media is on point! EPCOT Take it from us that trying to squeeze everything into one day can make you feel more like a drill sergeant than a relaxed vacationer. This may sound like a spoiler alert, but you’re probably not going to be able to do everything at Disney World during your trip, and that’s okay! Not All the Rides Are Worth the Hype There’s no question that Disney rides, especially some of the OG ones are S-Tier legendary — Space Mountain, Pirates of the Caribbean, Haunted Mansion. That being said, not all of the rides at Disney World live up to the hype. Pirates! There are a fair number of the classic rides that are more about nostalgia than actual thrills. Sure, it’s cool to say you rode “it’s a small world,” but don’t expect it to be a mind-blowing experience. “it’s a small world!” It’s cute, it’s classic, but is it worth a 100-minute wait? Probably not (and we happen to love it’s a Small World). In the end, just be prepared for some letdowns, and don’t be afraid to skip a ride if it doesn’t do it for you. You’ll Spend More Time Waiting Than Actually Doing If no one has ever told you this before, just know that Disney World is basically the kingdom of queues. Waiting in line is just a fact of life here. Whether it’s for rides, food, or even bathrooms, you’re going to spend a lot of time standing around. Crowds at Magic Kingdom can be a lot You’ll find that the wait times for popular rides can be well over an hour, and that’s on a good day. It’s one of those brutal truths you just have to accept if you want to experience the magic. Make sure to pack extra patience with you because it’s a necessity. You Will Walk More Than You’ve Ever Walked in Your Life We hope you’re ready to rack up some serious steps. Disney World is HUGE, and unless you’re planning to park yourself on a bench all day, you’re going to be on your feet. Animal Kingdom We’re in the parks all the time and it’s not uncommon to hit 20,000 steps (or more) in a single day. Another fact of life here at Disney World is that your feet are going to ache by the end of the day. ©Amazon Our best recommendation is that you wear comfortable shoes. They’re going to become your best friends. What Shoes Should You Wear in Disney World? Click Here! Your Phone Battery Will Die Between all the selfies you’ll take with Cinderella Castle, checking all the wait times, making dining reservations, navigating the park, and updating your social media, your phone battery doesn’t stand a chance. Magic Kingdom By mid-afternoon, you’ll most likely be on the hunt to find an outlet or wishing you had packed a power bank. ©Amazon So make sure you’re prepared by bringing your own power bank and/a power strip, because nothing kills the magic faster than a dead phone. Best Phone Chargers for Disney The Weather Can Ruin Your Day Last up, Florida weather can be both unpredictable and downright brutal. It might rain seemingly out of nowhere and leave you drenched from head to toe, or the heat and humidity might make you feel like you’re walking on the surface of the sun. Rainy Day at EPCOT And don’t think winter will save you because it can get surprisingly chilly. The weather is a wild card that can turn your magical day into a miserable one if you’re not prepared. Pack accordingly, check the weather forecast constantly, and be ready for anything. Tropical Storm Debby at Animal Kingdom There you have it — a couple of the brutal realities at Disney World.
