Jollywood Nights is full of many different opportunities to explore, and we’re trying to hit them all tonight! Jollywood Nights There are multiple different shows to enjoy, too many snacks and drinks to count on two hands, and not to mention all the rides you can do, characters you can meet, and merchandise you can buy! But is this ONE experience, which often takes up a good bit of time during the party and can be very difficult to get into, really worth the time and money? We found out! Jazzy Holidays is a returning offering from last year’s event. It takes place at the Hollywood Brown Derby and is a speakeasy-inspired jazzy lounge where Advance Dining Reservations are highly encouraged due to its popularity and limited capacity. Jazzy Holidays We were lucky enough to get to experience this party exclusive last year, and with so many new offerings on the menu this year, we knew we had to try it out again! Atmosphere Similar to the regular Hollywood Brown Derby, this restaurant has a more elegant feel to it without being too over-the-top. There’s festive holiday decor all around, and the jazzy music really elevates the scene. The restaurant has various Christmas decorations up including garlands and lights. Jazzy Holidays The ambiance is elevated and cozy, and it could be easy to spend a lot of time enjoying the atmosphere. The music is lovely and just adds to the overall feel of the restaurant. Jazzy Holidays Now, let’s take a look at what we got to eat! Menu We got quite a few things to try out and we are excited to dig in! Full Spread First up on our list was the Chorizo Arancini with parmesan dust and salmorejo tomato sauce. This dish costs $14. Chorizo Arancini These were tasty and we thought that the addition of the chorizo made these arancini more exciting than your average ones. The chorizo added a great amount of spice and complexity to the arancini. The tomato sauce tasted light and fresh. Overall, though, it wasn’t a huge standout on the menu. It was yummy, but it wasn’t anything special. Chorizo Arancini The Hamachi Crudo was also on our list — it’s made with caper aïoli, Dijon-avocado mousse, and citrus-champagne vinaigrette. You can get it for $17. This dish was light and did not taste too fishy at all. It was very salty, but the avocado mousse helped cut through that saltiness. We thought the vinaigrette was too salty for this dish and overpowered all the other flavors. Hamachi Crudo The Jazzy Holiday Slider caught our eye as well. It’s made with Bison and pork, onion jam, dulce gorgonzola, bibb lettuce, and a brioche roll. Jazzy Holiday Slider We thought these sliders were perfectly cooked and had a warm pink in the center. We do wish there would have been some more onion jam on the slider as it was tasty, but there wasn’t enough. The gorgonzola came through in the perfect amount. These burgers were tender, and we overall really enjoyed them! Jazzy Holiday Slider The Sticky Chicken Wings with sweet-and-spicy soy were also on our radar, so we knew we had to give them a try. These guys cost $15. Sticky Chicken Wings These chicken wings were one of our favorite dishes we tried. Our only complaint with these is that they were more like chicken lollipops than drums, and we would have rather had drumsticks. The sauce was really tasty. It was sticky and savory with some smokiness to it. The house made ranch was absolutely delicious and it is what really won us over on this dish. This dish could have been smothered in the ranch and we would have been perfectly content. The pickled veggies were not our favorite, but the ranch more than made up for it! Sticky Chicken Wings Our first drink of the night here was the Spiced Pear Martini. It is made with Grey Goose Vodka, spiced pear syrup, and lemon juice and costs $17.50. The martini was a sweet martini with a slight tartness and some acidity to it. You don’t really taste the alcohol in this drink, but it definitely has a strong spiced flavor to it. Spiced Pear Martini We also tried the Peppermint Schnapps Sipping Chocolate, which is made with Tito’s Handmade Vodka and Peppermint Schnapps. This drink costs $17.50. Peppermint Schnapps Sipping Chocolate We thought this was a very delicious alcoholic hot chocolate. The liquor in this drink gave you a good amount of burn that helped to balance out the sweetness of the hot chocolate. The hot chocolate itself was also tasty, and it tasted like it was made with higher quality chocolate. The drink was creamy and had just the right amount of sweetness. Peppermint Schnapps Sipping Chocolate One of the non-alcoholic options here is the Holiday Mickey Hot Cocoa, which is house-made hot cocoa topped with whipped cream, caramel-chocolate brownie Mickey ears, and holiday sprinkles. If you’ve got kids with you, this very well may be the one they’re most excited about. This drink costs $5.49. Holiday Mickey Hot Cocoa The hot chocolate tasted like it was made with high quality chocolate and had a lovely, deep chocolate flavor. This drink is so much fun with the brownie Mickey ears, sprinkles, and whipped cream. Overall We really enjoyed our time at Jazzy Holidays and the ambiance is fantastic. While it is such a great experience, it is a bit hard to justify doing a table service experience during Jollywood Nights. You only have a limited time to see everything that the event has to offer, and this experience will take a bit of time. Knowing what you want to order ahead of time and letting your waiter know that you would like a quicker experience can definitely help move things along, but it is hard to say that this is a must-do when there is so much else to see at Jollywood Nights. Jazzy Holidays We really enjoyed the food and the ambiance but hesitate to say it is worth your time when you only have five hours at Jollywood Nights. It’s the most wonderful time of the year! Jollywood Nights We’re officially in the holiday swing of things in Disney World! As part of the celebrations, we’ve come to Jollywood Nights at Hollywood Studios for its second year, and we’re checking out ALL the special offerings. One of the new things on the list this year is a special holiday-themed show! For the first time in 2024, Disney’s Hollywood Studios is offering an ice skating show called “Glisten!” Located right on Hollywood Boulevard, this show happens at 8:15PM, 9:15PM, 10:30PM, 11:15PM, and 12:15AM during Jollywood Nights. Glisten! Showtimes You’ll find the performance area right in front of the Chinese Theater and it looks like an ice-skating rink! The show is performed by international champion skaters, and it’s set to a soundtrack of holiday and Disney songs. Glisten! The show is about 15 minutes long, so it is not super long which makes it easier to fit into your evening. There is lots of standing room available, so you don’t need to show up super early to stake out a spot or anything like that. We love the Christmas vibes! Overall, we thought the show was a lot of fun and we definitely recommend adding it to your agenda at Jollywood Nights. The show features skaters and there are also projections on the Chinese Theater. The dancers were very talented and while they were some slight hiccups, we know the show will become more polished as the season goes on. Glisten! The skating is more of a dancing skating, kind of like a High School Musical choreography. We do wish there was a bit more traditional skating elements, but it was still a very enjoyable show. There were some very impressive lifts, and we could tell the skaters were having a good time. It was fun and the ice skating made it feel so Christmas-y. Look at that lift! Plus, it is a short show that doesn’t require a huge time commitment to get a spot for. You can walk up right as it is starting and likely be able to find some space by the stage. There are also five showtimes each night, so you can choose the one that fits best in your schedule. Glisten! Thanks for coming along with us to Glisten! We really enjoyed this new entertainment offering and we recommend you check it out if you’re going to Jollywood Nights this year. Stay tuned to DFB for more fun from the event! Happy holidays, everyone! We are ready for a jolly good evening! We are so excited to be checking out Jollywood Nights in Disney’s Hollywood Studios tonight — there’s so much entertainment to enjoy, decorations to admire, characters to meet, and of course, food to eat! If you’re heading to the party later this month and want to already have planned out what you’d like to grab, check out our reviews of everything we ate below! We’ll continue to update this post as we review snacks throughout the night, so stay tuned for more! Trolley Car Cafe First up, we’re starting off with a sweet treat at Trolley Car Cafe! Trolley Car Cafe Over at the Trolley Car Cafe, we grabbed the Agent P Croissant for $5.29! This is a Waffle croissant dipped in caramel-chocolate and topped with mint cream, a chocolate hat, and M&M’S Milk Chocolate Candies. This was heavy on the mint chocolate flavor so if you don’t love mint, we say skip. Agent P Croissant The pastry itself left us wanting more. We had high hopes for the waffle/croissant combo, but this didn’t deliver for us. We were first in line, but they tasted stale already which was disappointing. We do give this snack extra points for the tiny hat in honor of Perry himself. The theming of this snack is cute, but it was not our favorite. Dockside Diner Next up, for any plant-based eaters out there, this is for you! Dockside Diner You’ll want to head over to Dockside Diner where you can try the Samosas for $5.29, which are Potato and pea stuffed samosas with curried chickpeas, herb “crema,” and tomato-pomegranate chutney. Jollywood Nights Menu The samosas themselves are two small triangles flanking the chickpeas and chutney. The dollops of herb crema are deliciously fresh, not salty, and add a nice cooling contrast to the spiced chickpeas. If you’re sensitive to spice, salt, or seasonings, we want to warn you—these little puffs pack a serious punch. Most of the heat and salt come from the curry-spiced chickpeas, which are delicious but really rely on the tomato pomegranate chutney to be more palatable for the average taste, especially for those with a sensitivity to strong flavors. Samosas Speaking of the chutney, we didn’t detect any pomegranate flavor at all; it’s very tomato-forward and reminds us of pico de gallo, minus the heat. While we enjoyed it, we were expecting a hint of pomegranate, so our one critique is we would have loved to have the pomegranate. Baseline Tap House For something new, we’re going over to Baseline Tap House! Baseline Menu Here you can grab the Macaroni and Cheese Croquette for $5, which is fried macaroni and cheese with aïoli dipping sauce! Macaroni and Cheese Croquette You get two croquettes with an order, which for $5 is not bad in our opinion. The croquettes were crispy on the outside and filled with a pretty standard mac and cheese inside. One of the best deals! The aioli sauce is very strong in flavor. The heat really hit us at first, which we didn’t mind, but if you aren’t a fan of heat, skip this one. Sauce We appreciate the combo of these two together as it makes a delicious snack. While it’s not exactly unique, we like that it’s affordable and still light enough to not be too heavy leaving you room to try more snacks! Cheesy! We also tried the Beer Margarita for $17.50, which is a blend of Patrón Silver Tequila, Cointreau Orange Liqueur, and lime juice topped with Scrimshaw Pilsner served over ice. We felt like this is really pricey for what it is. It is margarita forward, but bubbly tasting beer notes on the back end of the sip. Beer Margarita This wasn’t anything unique to us and for that reason, we’d skip this again. We would love to see them add something to make this festive like different colors or even a glow cube for this price. ABC Commissary We were able to find some favorites here at the ABC Commissary so let’s get to it! Full Spread One of our favorite quick-service spots in Hollywood Studios has a few different options to try, and we started with the plant-based Cauliflower Taco for $4.49. This is made with Chili pepper-lime dusted fried cauliflower on top of a corn tortilla with diced onions, cilantro, and a chipotle cashew “crema.” plant-based Cauliflower Taco This really knocked our socks off! This has a lot of flavor for a plant-based snack and we thought it tasted like meat. The cauliflower was fried perfectly. The corn tortilla tasted fresh and authentic to us, which we really appreciated. All the flavors worked really well together and we would highly recommend this, especially if you are a plant-based eater! Our reporter wanted to go back and order more because she couldn’t get enough of this snack. The creme tasted so great! If you’re looking for something sweet, you can try the Taco ‘bout a Holiday Cookie for $5.79! This is a cranberry cheesecake-filled chocolate cookie dipped in cranberry-white chocolate topped with pistachio whipped cream, gold crispy pearls, chocolate holly leaf décor, and holiday sprinkles. Taco ‘bout a Holiday Cookie This was a hit for us too. Not only is the theming adorable, but it actually is something we enjoyed eating. While we can’t find anything about the cookie being spiced, we got notes of almost a gingerbread flavor to it and we loved it. The cranberry paired really well with that flavor. Delicious! The Coquito for $9 is also available here. This is made with Coconut cream, coconut milk, sweetened condensed milk, Bacardí Rum, and Captain Morgan Original Spiced Rum topped with cinnamon. Coquito This one was where we were disappointed. Since the drink had two different brands of rum in it, it was very rum-heavy. Rum was the only flavor we tasted and was really missing the balance of flavor from the coconut cream and milk. This was not a hit for us For $9, we do think this could be a good beverage option, especially if you enjoy rum as it is one of the cheaper cocktails you’ll find. Returning Items Several returning items are back at this year’s event as well! Take a look at our past reviews for these. First up, Fairfax Fare brought back the Holiday Turkey Popover, which is made with roasted turkey and creamy mashed potatoes topped with gravy, cranberry chutney, and chives in a house-made popover. This was basically like all of Thanksgiving dinner in one little snack. The turkey was very tender and juicy, and the cranberry sauce was sweet and complemented it well. However, the mashed potatoes made the whole thing pretty mushy, especially after it sat a while. We didn’t love that consistency. Holiday Turkey Popover The ‘Just the Sides’ Popover is also back in 2024. This one is made with macaroni & cheese and savory collard greens with ham topped with cornbread crumbs in a house-made popover. The mac and cheese was creamy and delicious! There’s a bit of a smokey taste to the greens, which we liked. All of it is served inside a bread roll, which was nice and flaky on the outside. ‘Just the Sides’ Popover For dessert, grab the PB&J Doughnut, which is a glazed doughnut with creamy peanut butter and grape jelly dipped in dark chocolate topped with crushed house-made salt and vinegar chips. This doughnut wasn’t our favorite. It wasn’t quite sweet enough, since there wasn’t enough glaze on the outside. The peanut butter is sticky but smooth, and the jelly is pretty standard. The doughnut itself had a great texture — very soft — but we wished it had more glaze to make the whole thing sweeter. PB&J Doughnut Muppets fans, get ready! Kermit’s Frozen Banana Bliss, which is a non-alcoholic drink made with frozen banana and white chocolate with caramel swirls topped with matcha whipped cream and sprinkles, has also returned! There’s a pretty strong banana flavor, but it was a little bit weird. It almost tasted like matcha, with a really earthy flavor. We liked the caramel sauce mixed in! Kermit’s Frozen Banana Bliss Lastly, you can snag the Mistletoe Martini again! This is made with Tito’s Handmade Vodka and St. Germain Elderflower Liqueur mixed with cranberry juice and topped with fresh cranberries and mint leaves. This was pretty much a spruced-up cranberry martini. It’s sweet but very dry, and the cranberry flavor is strong. The sprig of mint adds a little bit of flavor as well. Mistletoe Martini Epic Eats brought back their iconic funnel cakes! That’s right — the Spicy Korean Chicken Funnel Cake is a classic funnel cake topped with spicy fried Korean chicken and pickled vegetables. Regardless of the added kimchi, this is still chicken and waffles, which is never a bad thing. The kimchi does add a nice fresh take to the typical pairing, though, and the sauce has a sweet tanginess to it. It serves up great crunchy and crispy textures that we love, but we didn’t notice any spice at all. We would order this over and over. Spicy Korean Chicken Funnel Cake For the sweet tooth out there, check out the S’mores Funnel Cake! It’s a mini-funnel cake topped with giant roasted marshmallow with chocolate and marshmallow sauce, topped with chocolate curls and cinnamon cereal…and yes, it’s as sweet as it sounds! I guess that’s what you get when you load a funnel cake up with marshmallow. The gooey topping really overwhelms the other flavors that are trying to sneak out in the dessert. The funnel cake itself is good and crispy on the outside and nice and soft on the inside. Once you get a few bites in, you can find a hint of chocolate. If you’re a fan of marshmallows and sugar, this one’s for you! The Brisket Reuben Funnel Cake did not make the cut this year. S’mores Funnel Cake Although Dockside Diner introduced the new Samosas this year for us to try (as reviewed above), several of last year’s items are still on the menu. That includes Spicy Pimento-Kimchi Dip which is topped with chives and served with fresh house-made wonton chips. This is a unique fusion of classic foods combining the savory soul food classic and a popular Korean condiment. Pimento Cheese — traditionally made with shredded Cheddar, mayonnaise, and pimentos. It’s commonly served with crackers and vegetables or as a sandwich filling. Kimchi is a traditional Korean dish made with salted and fermented vegetables, usually cabbage with ginger and garlic and some Korean chili flake (gochugaru) for a little kick. So does this marriage of Korean + Southern cuisine deliver? Well, we sure loved it! It’s creamy and has a very mild spice to it. The topping is the only bit of kimchi that we could find on the dish, and it has a bit of acidity to it like you’d find in slaw. Kimchi Pimento Cheese Dip Poutine Potato Bites topped with gravy, brisket, mozzarella curds, and chives are also back! Last year, we were a bit disappointed with this dish. The flavors and textures just didn’t work together as well as we wanted them to. The curds were also rubbery — which added an unpleasant texture to the dish. The brisket was inconsistent — good in some places but not so great in others. The tots were just regular ol’ tots. Poutine Tots For a sweet treat here, you can grab the Christmas Tree Cookie Stack — a vanilla cookie stack filled with pistachio buttercream, cranberry, and raspberry jam topped with sprinkles and a yellow candy star. This was interesting! The pistachio flavor was definitely there but was very subtle. The cookie was vanilla-flavored but we picked up on some notes of cinnamon. The cranberries were nice and sweet! This treat is easily sharable. Christmas Tree Cookie Stack Sandy Claws Hot Cocoa AKA dark chocolate hot cocoa topped with cherry whipped cream is around as well. It’s a DELICIOUS drink. It’s thick, creamy, and tastes like real hot chocolate — not the packaged stuff. The cherry whipped cream tastes more like grenadine than tart cherry, and it works well with the hot chocolate. Sandy Claws Hot Chocolate It’s back!!! The ICONIC Christmas Gertie Cookie can be found at various lounges and outdoor snack carts this year! This is a sugar cookie with mint icing, and it’s good, but it’s even better for photos. The cookie is soft but also has a crunch! It’s pretty sweet as it is an iced sugar cookie. It was served with ice cream last year, however, it seems it’s just the cookie for 2024. But we aren’t complaining! It’s Gertie! Also, the legit SPICY Buffalo Chicken Spring Rolls have returned to Market this year! These are Fried spring rolls served with a jalapeño-ranch dipping sauce and fried rice noodles. Be prepared. These are ACTUALLY spicy. Like, our mouth was still burning a few minutes later. The chicken inside is in little chunks, and there’s a significant amount of spicy buffalo flavor. The ranch is nice as a side but doesn’t cool them down much, so you’re gonna need a drink to wash these spring rolls down. This was a great little snack if you want something with a kick. It’s not ridiculously hot, but it’s spicy in terms of Disney standards. Buffalo Chicken Spring Rolls We can’t wait to explore the rest of this exciting event, so stay tuned to DFB for the rest of our fun-filled night! It’s Time! The holiday season has arrived at Disney World! Jollywood Nights Last night, we attended the first Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party of the season in Magic Kingdom, and tonight, we are in Hollywood Studios for the first Jollywood Nights of 2024! This after-hours event is back for the second year! This party features specialty entertainment, snacks, character meet and greets, and generally shorter ride wait times. Let’s take a look at what the crowds and wait times are looking like this year at the very first party! This post will be updated throughout the night with a look at crowds and wait times around the park, so be sure to check back for the latest! Jollywood Nights is a separately ticketed event that takes place on 13 select nights from November 9th to December 21st. The party takes place from 7:30 PM to 12:30 AM, but you can enter the park as early as 6 PM. When we arrived at the party, there were plenty of people also taking advantage of being able to spend some time in Hollywood Studios before the party officially starts. Crowds at the entrance Once we were scanned in to the park, we were taken through the Fantasmic! bypass which is located to the right when you first walk through the turnstiles. We didn’t remember this being a thing last year and we really thought it helped with the initial crowds. Crowds in the bypass After the bypass we ended up on Sunset Boulevard where it definitely felt somewhat crowded. Although keep in mind, the event hasn’t started yet, so day guests are also still in the park. Sunset Boulevard Crowds Since this is a specialty ticketed event, the capacity is limited, which helps keep ride wait times down. We took a look at the wait times 15 minutes before the park closed for regular guests at 6:45PM, so we could compare these to wait times once the party starts! The highest waits were for Slinky Dog Dash (80 minutes) and Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance (65 minutes). Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster had a 45-minute wait, and all the other attractions in the park had a 30 minute or less wait time. ©Disney While the wait times for the rides weren’t too bad overall, we were surprised when we headed over to try and meet Santa Duffy at 7PM and found out that the wait was already 50 minutes! We have a feeling Santa Duffy is going to be a popular character to meet. Already 50 minutes to meet Santa Duffy at 7PM At 7:30PM, when Jollywood Nights officially started, wait times dropped significantly. The highest wait times were for Slinky Dog Dash (60 minutes), Meet Disney Stars at Red Carpet Dreams (60 minutes), and Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance (35 minutes). Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster was only 25 minutes, Tower of Terror was 13 minutes (which is essentially a walk-on), and everything else was 10 minutes or less. ©Disney We will be keeping track of the crowds and wait times all night long at Jollywood Nights, so make sure to continue to stick around and stay tuned to Disney Food Blog to stay up to date on all the latest holiday happenings at Jollywood Nights! What’s happening, Disney?! Main Street, U.S.A. is closed in the Magic Kingdom, the Festival of Fantasy parade is canceled, and the park is completely sold out of Park Pass reservations. Something BIG is happening! Holidays in Disney World Well, there’s actually a perfectly reasonable explanation for it all. On November 9th, Disney’s ABC film crews were spotted in Magic Kingdom. Now that the holiday season is here, we know exactly what’s going on: ABC is filming for the annual Disney Parks Magical Christmas Day Parade show! Want to see what a sold-out park looks like on the first day of filming? Let’s take a look! We arrived at Magic Kingdom bright and early and noticed that the My Disney Experience app stated, “There are no showtimes today” for the Festival of Fantasy parade. ©Disney Additionally, our view of the Cinderella Castle looked different. The castle area was blocked by bushes, and there were large lights pointed towards the stage. The Cinderella Castle looks different! Here’s a closer peek at the stage. Hey, it looks like a crew of Cast Members was hard at work preparing for the stage! Film crew in Magic Kingdom It really felt like we were getting a behind-the-scenes look at how the show is made! How interesting! Now, what exactly is Disney filming? Each year, Disney airs a special show on ABC to celebrate the holidays! In fact, the show is described as an “annual Christmas celebration with heartwarming stories, dazzling celebrity performances and of course, the Christmas Day Parade!” It’s our one chance to see the iconic Once Upon a Christmastime Parade on TV. On November 9th, Disney was filming a daytime performance of its Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party parade for the show. Once Upon a Christmastime Parade Naturally, most people tried to stake out a spot on Main Street, U.S.A., before the parade, but Disney had other plans. Around noon, Cast Members started directing people away from Main Street. The area was reserved for Cast Members who registered for special parade viewing. Crowds in The Emporium store Main Street, U.S.A. was totally closed off to those without special parade access. Luckily, Frontierland and Liberty Square were open for anyone in the park to catch the parade. If you head over to Frontierland, you’ll have a great view of the parade; in fact, the parade starts next to Tiana’s Bayou Adventure, so you’ll be among the first to see the show. Frontierland parade viewing We’ll be sure to update this post with more details as the parade begins in Magic Kingdom! Buckle up; we’ve got some BIG Disney news to share. Whether you’re planning a trip to Disney World, waiting for an update on a major Disney project, or counting down the days til your next vacation, you need to hear this. Disney World Disney just dropped some BIG news, and Disney fans already have a LOT to say about this announcement. OK, we won’t keep you in suspense any longer: it’s about the new Villains land coming to Magic Kingdom. Disney just dropped a few more details about that new expansion! Disney blew our MINDS in August when the company announced that the ONE THING WE’VE ALWAYS WANTED TO SEE IN DISNEY WORLD is actually happening. That announcement was that a land themed around Disney’s villains would be coming to Magic Kingdom. We even later learned where that land would be in the park (behind Big Thunder Mountain Railroad). IT’S REALLY HAPPENING! ©Disney Well, Disney is now busy dropping announcements at D23 Brazil, and the company revealed which villains will inspire that land. It’s not clear exactly HOW these characters may be featured, but it looks like Disney plans to use some of the biggest and baddest villains. ©Disney Let’s just take a look at this photo posted by @omelete. We see the Queen of Hearts, Jafar, the Evil Queen, Yzma, Cruella, Captain Hook, Maleficent, Gaston, Mother Gothel, Ursula, Hades, Chernabog, and Maleficent as a Dragon. WHOA! ©omelete We can’t wait to learn more about the new land. In the meantime, we’re always on the lookout for the latest Disney news, so stay tuned for more. We’ve been so excited about the new nighttime parade coming to Magic Kingdom ever since it was announced back in August. Magic Kingdom This new nighttime parade is called Disney Starlight, and we know it’ll feature the magic of the Blue Fairy from Pinocchio, along with characters from Encanto, Frozen, and Peter Pan. We’ve also known that the parade will be “brought to life by the magic of the Blue Fairy,” but that’s about all we’ve known for a few months. But NOW we’ve got more details you need to know about! D23 Brazil is happening right now, and we’ve been getting some pretty big announcements about Disney movies, parks, and more! During the Parks and Experiences panel, we learned a little more about Disney Starlight, and Disney confirmed that a Moana float would be coming to the nighttime parade. We also saw the first concept art of this new float, which features Moana on her sailboat above some beautiful waves. ©Disney The new nighttime parade will debut in summer 2025 in Magic Kingdom. We’ve previously seen concept art for other floats, including a Peter Pan float and an Encanto float. ©Disney Looking for more recent Magic Kingdom news? Check out our posts below! It is no secret that Disney World can get crowded, which can sometimes result in longer wait times for rides and attractions. Crowds in Magic Kingdom While it may seem like every season is busy season at Disney World, we tend to see higher crowd levels around school breaks like spring break, summer break, and the upcoming holiday breaks. While the influx of crowds can make ride wait times longer than average, you may be surprised to find out that sometimes the longest lines in the park are not for a ride. There are times when Disney hits the mark and makes adorable merchandise that creates a very high demand. For example, when the Disney World 50th anniversary merchandise was released in the park, there were crowds of people trying to get their hands on this historic merchandise. Eventually, Disney had to put purchasing limits in place to avoid selling out of items. 50th Anniversary Finale Collection Now, when Disney thinks a new merchandise collection will be popular, they utilize a Virtual Queue to limit and manage crowds while shopping. We saw this recently happen for Hollywood Studio’s 35th anniversary. Hollywood Studios 35th merch! But it is not just limited edition t-shirts and pins that draw crowds; popcorn buckets are insanely popular at Disney World, and for good reason, as some of Disney World’s latest popcorn bucket releases are adorable. Plus, you can enjoy discounted popcorn refills when you present your bucket to outdoor vending popcorn carts. Popcorn Cart Now, Disney World is no stranger to long popcorn bucket lines. For example, in 2022, for the EPCOT International Festival of the Arts, POP Eats was home to the Figment popcorn bucket. Lines for the bucket were hours long, and eventually, inventory ran out. EPCOT eventually restocked it for next year’s festival, and you were able to pick up the bucket via Mobile Order. Disney learned from this, and this year, for the Festival of the Arts, the new Figment popcorn bucket that featured the Imagination Pavilion was available via Mobile Order. Figment Popcorn Bucket from 2022 and 2023 As we approach the holiday season, Disney announced that three new popcorn buckets will make their way to Disneyland, and they are super cute! First up is this Sulley popcorn bucket. ©Disney There is also a gingerbread house popcorn bucket! ©Disney And finally, there is a Mickey Mouse elf popcorn bucket! ©Disney While these popcorn buckets have not yet been confirmed for Disney World, it is safe to assume that some new holiday buckets will eventually make their way over to the East Coast, and just like other popcorn bucket releases, these are going to be popular and draw long lines. Popcorn Bucket line So, how can you get your hands on a new popcorn bucket? Well, to start, many people will rush to the parks on the first day they are released. This creates long lines when you could be using the time waiting for a popcorn bucket to ride an attraction. We always have reporters in the parks watching out for new releases, so make sure to continue to follow along with Disney Food Blog as we will post updates on when and where new popcorn buckets are available. Popcorn bucket line In most cases, new popcorn buckets may only be available at one popcorn cart at the start of the day, and then they will make their way to other carts. So do not stress if one popcorn cart runs out of inventory. In most cases, they will restock or be available at another cart. Popcorn Cart This was the case at Disneyland when the Halloween Vampire Stitch popcorn bucket was released. Disneyland was prepared for it to be popular, and they sold it all over the park in multiple ways; for example, depending on where you bought it from, it could come with cotton candy or popcorn to accommodate more locations to sell it. Vampire Stitch Popcorn Bucket Overall, our biggest tip is to pack your patience and don’t give up! If you see a short line, we recommend getting in it right away, as eventually, a longer line will form. If Disney does utilize Mobile Order this year, make sure to purchase it first thing in the morning to ensure you are able to get your hands on a popcorn bucket. You can always push the pick-up time back if you can’t make it to your original time slot. Short line for popcorn buckets We have our fingers crossed that these adorable Christmas popcorn buckets will make their way to Disney World, and if they do, remember these tips to help you snag the popcorn bucket you want! Disney World is about to be in a bit of a transformation. Lightning McQueen’s Racing Academy New lands are coming to Magic Kingdom, Disney’s Animal Kingdom, AND Disney’s Hollywood Studios. New Cars attractions will be available at Magic Kingdom, and an all-new show is headed to Hollywood Studios. And that’s not even everything! However, to make way for several of these new things, some classic attractions have had to close. For example, Lightning McQueen’s Racing Academy closed for good in Hollywood Studios on October 8th, but at least now we’re starting to see steps being taken for the new show to open! Lightning McQueen’s Racing Academy The Cars-themed show featuring Lighting McQueen permanently closed on October 8th, 2024, to make way for a brand-new Villains show. Sunset Showcase The Cars show was previously housed in the Sunset Showcase building, but the last day for guests to enjoy it was October 7th. The new Villains show is supposed to debut in the summer of 2025. We’re always watching for more details about the new show, and we recently spotted a casting call for Cruella de Vil, Captain Hook, and Maleficent! Seems like Disney is making progress on the new production. Read about the NEW Villains show coming to Disney’s Hollywood Studios! These attractions will remain closed for now, along with others around Disney World. Keep reading to find out what else will be closed the week of November 9th through November 16th. Magic Kingdom Frontierland Shootin’ Arcade We had to say goodbye to an opening day attraction on June 23rd. Frontierland Shootin’ Arcade with construction walls around it The Frontierland Shootin’ Arcade was around for generations and provided simple fun to all who played. Now, the attraction has closed to make room for a new Disney Vacation Club lounge. This lounge will be the third in Disney World, joining one in EPCOT and one at Disney’s Contemporary Resort. Disney has not yet announced when the new lounge will open. Reviewing These New Magic Kingdom Confectionery Treats Was Truly a Roller Coaster Ride Tomorrowland Terrace Tomorrowland Terrace is a quick-service restaurant that has been closed since the 2020 pandemic-related closures, but even before that, this spot was only occasionally open. Tomorrowland Terrace Once in a while, you’ll see the dining room open as a rest area (and it’s still being used for the Magic Kingdom Fireworks Dessert Parties), but it’s usually all roped off and empty. Tomorrowland Terrace Disney hasn’t announced when this spot could finally reopen, but we’ll be watching for updates. If you’re looking for a nice spot to hang out in Disney World and sit down for a rest, this could be it! REVIEW: Disney, Here’s Our Petition to Add More Loaded Tots to This Magic Kingdom Restaurant EPCOT Test Track Test Track closed on June 17th, and Disney is giving this ride a BIG makeover! Test Track Construction Disney has shared that the new version of Test Track will take inspiration from the old ride, World of Motion, that was originally there when the park opened in 1982. Disney recently shared more details at D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Experience, including an opening timeline! We’ll be able to ride Test Track once again in 2025. EPCOT Has a BIG Festival of the Holidays Problem, and I’m Formally Requesting a Solution ASAP Restaurant Marrakesh Restaurant Marrakesh is currently closed as a dining location in the Morocco pavilion of EPCOT’s World Showcase, and there’s no word yet on when the restaurant could fully reopen. Restaurant Marrakesh However, it is currently open as the Florida Blue Lounge during the EPCOT Food and Wine Festival. So, if you’re in the Morocco Pavilion, check it out to see if it’s open. We’re watching for updates on when the full restaurant could reopen! 2 NEW Food Booths Announced for the 2024 EPCOT Festival of the Holidays Hollywood Studios Voyage of the Little Mermaid Voyage of the Little Mermaid is currently closed in Disney World. But we recently spotted some construction walls up at the building along with a new permit filed! Voyage of the Little Mermaid Disney is going to introduce a new, updated show in this spot, though it will still be themed to the animated movie The Little Mermaid! The new show will be called “The Little Mermaid — A Musical Adventure,” and it is now coming to Disney’s Hollywood Studios in Summer 2025. The Little Mermaid: A Musical Adventure Disney still hasn’t announced an official opening date for the new show, but it has been postponed from its Fall 2024 opening timeline. It will be a “fully reimagined theatrical production inspired by the Walt Disney Animation Studios classic.” NEW LOOK at “The Little Mermaid” Show Coming to Disney’s Hollywood Studios! Typhoon Lagoon Blizzard Beach officially welcomed guests back on November 4th! That same day, Typhoon Lagoon closed its gates for the season. With less than two months in 2024, you can basically count down the days until your 2025 Disney World trip! Disney’s Animal Kingdom With such little time left for all the preparations, we wanted to offer a helping hand! If you’re still trying to figure out which Disney World you want to book a stay at in 2025, you’ll want to know about the ones that you’ll want to stay clear of. Let’s dive right in! Without further ado, let’s get right into the list of Disney World hotels that you’ll want to avoid in 2025 and why! Disney’s All-Star Movies Resort Who doesn’t love hopping into their Disney World hotel pool (I know we do)? Speaking of pools, the Fantasia Pool over at Disney’s All-Star Movies Resort will undergo routine maintenance from January 2025 to April 2025. Fantasia Pool While the refurbishment is happening, you can still enjoy a day by the pool at the Donald Duck pool since it will still be open. If you are wanting to stay at a hotel where all the pools will open, you will want to stay clear of this hotel until May 2025. Bay Lake Tower Next, Bay Lake Tower at Disney’s Contemporary Resort will be undergoing room refurbishment work from September 2024 to September 2025 (yes — a whole year!). Bay Lake Tower at Disney’s Contemporary Resort During the construction, you can expect to see and hear the construction work in Bay Lake Tower. Also, you might be instructed to take detours. Typically Disney is really good about not doing any work early in the mornings or late in the evenings. Hoping to avoid construction at your hotel, then steer clear of The Contemporary next year. Port Orleans French Quarter Disney’s Port Orleans Resort — French Quarter has been getting a facelift recently. The room refurbishments taking place at the French Quarter were originally scheduled to be completed by the end of November, but now the plans have changed. According to the Disney World website, the project is now expected to last through Spring 2025. (We’ll be keeping an eye on the refurbishment schedule and keep you posted!) New rooms at Port Orleans Resort — French Quarter As of the moment, the room refurbishments have already been completed in some areas (Buildings 1 and 2), but if you’re planning on staying at this hotel over the next few months, just keep in mind that there’s no guarantee you’ll get an updated room (but you will likely be paying the same price as someone who is in a refurbished room). Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort Even though the Island Village Tower at Disney’s Polynesian Villas and Bungalows will be opening this December 2024, the construction around the resort won’t be stopping any time soon. Construction progress Disney stated that the construction will go on until 2026, as with the other properties undergoing construction, just plan on hearing construction noise during the day should you plan on staying there. So you can expect construction in the area for quite some time. Wilderness Lodge If you’re planning a stay at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge Resort, there is a major refurbishment taking place on the exterior of the hotel. Wilderness Lodge Construction work began back on August 5th and will still continue for the foreseeable future (meaning you’ll see and hear construction work during the daytime hours). Unfortunately, Disney hasn’t shared the scope of the work or when it will be completed, and there are indications that there will be even more work happening at the resort throughout the year. Disney’s Yacht Club Lastly, Disney’s Yacht Club Resort will also be undergoing room refurbishment work from January 2025 through May 2025. Disney hasn’t shared how extensive the work will be (we’ll keep you posted). Disney’s Yacht Club Additionally, the Stormalong Bay and Shipwreck Pool (which are shared by both Disney’s Yacht and Beach Club Resorts) will undergo routine maintenance from January 2025 to June 2025. These pools are consistently some of the top pools at the Disney World resorts (many stay just for the pool). As before, expect to hear construction noises during the day. This pool really is the shining star of this hotel, so if you were planning to stay for this experience, you will likely want to stay somewhere else! Stormalong Bay Now, if you still want to spend time at a pool, the Tidal, Admiral, and Dunes Cove leisure pools will still be open. Stormalong Bay at Disney’s Beach Club Those are just a couple of closures in 2025 at Disney World that you should plan around. It takes a lot of work to keep a theme park running in tip-top shape — and a lot of employees to do it. Orlando Sign Orlando is home to several theme parks and not all of them are quite as large as Disney World or Universal. Some may not be filled with roller coasters and rides, but that doesn’t mean they’re not worth checking out! You might not want to apply for a job at one in particular, though, and you’ll soon find out why. A new study of theme parks in the United States has revealed which ones had the highest work-related incidents in 2023. The study, which was conducted by OnFocus, used data from the Occupational Health and Safety Administration (OSHA) to find out which attractions were the safest and most dangerous places to work. The Incredible Hulk Coaster And, among the nation’s most dangerous is WonderWorks Orlando. WonderWorks is a science-focused indoor amusement park that combines education and entertainment, featuring over 100 different exhibits. While it’s not a traditional theme park with roller coasters like Disney World, it’s still a pretty popular attraction in Orlando. But, this data has revealed it may not be the safest place to work. ©WonderWorks Of the 10 least safe U.S. theme parks by incident rate per 100 employees, WonderWorks Orlando comes in second place with a 16.83 incident rate out of 100. The only theme park to beat WonderWorks was DTZIP, LLC, a zipline attraction based out of Las Vegas, Nevada. WonderWorks had 101 employees on average throughout 2023, and 17 total incidents were reported over the year. ©WonderWorks The report notes, “On the flip side, parks such as WonderWorks Orlando and DTZIP LLC are raising alarms with incident rates as high as 16.8 and 19.35 per 100 employees, respectively. These figures indicate that nearly one in six workers at some of the most popular attractions is experiencing an issue—something that shouldn’t be ignored.” Also noteworthy is Dollywood’s presence on the list of 10 least safe U.S. theme parks by incident rate per 100 employees, with the HeartSong Resort taking spot nine out of 100. ©Dollywood Disney Parks and Resorts had an incident rate of 7.66 per 100 employees in 2023, while Universal Orlando’s incident rate was 5.11 per 100 employees.
