The holidays have arrived in Disney World — and you know what that means? It means it’s time for the first Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party in Magic Kingdom. Party map! Bring on the snoap, the fun holiday parade, the entertainment, the special characters…we are HERE for it. But more importantly, what we REALLY love to do at Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party is eat (yes, yes, I know you are SO surprised). So we tried some of the new eats at this year’s party and we’re going to give you our honest thoughts about ALL of them! Alright, let’s get to eating! We’re heading to Aloha Isle in Adventureland first to try two party-exclusive floats. The Holiday Pineapple-Orange-Guava Juice Float is made with Pineapple-orange-guava juice, coconut soft-serve, and a spiced pineapple tree pop for $9.00. Yep, it’s a POG float with coconut soft-serve, and we were very intrigued! However, while there wasn’t anything wrong with this one, it was just meh. We really didn’t feel it was worth $9, as it didn’t feel very festive other than the Christmas tree cake pop on the side which tasted like gingerbread cake (we enjoyed that!). Overall, it’s not bad, but we just don’t feel it’s worth your money when it’s so basic. Holiday Pineapple-Orange-Guava Juice Float We also picked up the Cranberry Citrus Float for $6.49. It’s made with Sprite Winter Spiced Cranberry and fruity boba pearls topped with DOLE Whip. This one was really the standout here, as it felt much more festive and the flavors worked so well together! The popping pearls were a great difference in texture, and overall, out of the two, we recommend this one way more. Sprite Winter Spiced Cranberry Okay, we’re heading into Tomorrowland to stop by Auntie Gravity’s Galactic Goodies. We picked up the Lump of Coal in Your Stocking, which is the only lump of coal we WANT to see this holiday season. It’s $8.49 and it’s a Cookies and cream shake topped with whipped cream, cookies and cream crumbles, and a chocolate doughnut hole. This is just your standard cookies and cream milkshake, so while it wasn’t anything special, it wasn’t bad! We don’t think it’s worth $9 though. Lump of Coal in Your Stocking We also picked up the Smoky Chocolate Brownie Sundae for $8.29, which is a house-baked brownie topped with smoky chocolate soft-serve covered in chocolate cone dip topped with marshmallows and festive sprinkles. Stay tuned for tasting notes! This one honestly gets points for just being weird! The chocolate coating is where the smoky flavor comes from, and you really won’t taste the smoky-ness until the aftertaste. It kinda tastes like you’re eating campfire smoke, and while it’s interesting, it’s likely not going to be a winner for a lot of guests. Smoky Chocolate Brownie Sundae Okay, time to double back to Main Street, U.S.A. to visit Casey’s Corner for its exclusive party snacks. The Holiday Dinner Hot Dog is an All-beef hot dog with turkey and gravy, fried onions, and cranberry sauce for $12.99. We loved all the flavors on top of this hot dog, they were a real winner, but the bun and hot dog itself took a little bit away from those flavors. If you’re looking for a meal with all these wonderful Thanksgiving flavors, this is the one to go with over the fries, in our eyes. Holiday Dinner Hot Dog We paired that with the Holiday Dinner Loaded French Fries for $6.99, which are French fries with turkey and gravy, fried onions, and cranberry sauce. Yes, that is INTERESTING, to say the least. And just like with the hot dog, we LOVED these flavors! The toppings were very generous, and we preferred this flavor profile with the fries over the hot dog by just a little bit. We do think this is shareable if you’re only looking for a snack, but it could also be a meal for one person! Holiday Dinner Loaded French Fries The Candy Cane Tart for $6.29 is a Chocolate tart filled with peppermint ganache topped with festive meringue. We LOVED this snack for its nice minty flavor in the past, but how does it fare this year? We loved how creamy and soft the chocolate filling was, and while the peppermint on top was very light, but definitely didn’t skimp on that peppermint flavor. While we thought it was very good, it’s not something to necessarily go out of your way for when you’re about to get a ton of free cookies. Candy Cane Tart The Black Currant and Mint Lemonade for $7.29 is new, so we had to try it, too. We didn’t expect to enjoy this, to be honest, but we loved the combination of the tart and sweet, and the mint really helps break up the sweetness of the rest of the slushy. It’s certainly more advanced and complex than most slushy drinks, so while we wouldn’t necessarily say to get it, if you’re looking for something interesting, it’s worth a try! Black Currant and Mint Lemonade How about some ice cream? Plaza Ice Cream Parlor is offering a Gingerbread Milk Shake made with vanilla ice cream, gingerbread syrup, and ginger snap crumbles topped with whipped cream and a chocolate piece for $8.99. While this was super soft and creamy, it really just tasted like a vanilla milkshake with something off. It took us a few sips to even notice the gingerbread flavor, and while we thought the toppings were cute, we don’t think this is really worth the spend. Gingerbread Milk Shake You can also get a Peppermint Ice Cream Cookie Sandwich for $7.49. It’s peppermint ice cream sandwiched between two oatmeal-peppermint chip cookies and rolled in candy cane pieces. This is 100% shareable, despite what you may think at first. The peppermint ice cream was fantastic with maximum peppermint taste, but we did with there were candy cane pieces mixed into the ice cream, not just on the outside! We also really loved how unique the cookies were — they weren’t necessarily fantastic, but they were so unique, which earned it points in our book. If you’ve got someone to share it with and you like BOTH oatmeal cookies and peppermint ice cream, give this a try, but otherwise, just stick with the holiday treats! Peppermint Ice Cream Cookie Sandwich We stopped by the Main Street, U.S.A. pretzel cart to try the Festive Pretzel, which is a Jumbo pretzel with chocolate-hazelnut drizzle, caramel sauce, TWIX Cookie Bar Pieces, and festive sprinkles for $12.50. Yep, this baby has a LOT going on, but we loved it! The savory and sweet combination was incredible, even though the pretzel was slightly stale. It was SO messy with all that hazelnut spread and they don’t skimp on the toppings, but it’s certainly shareable, and we overall recommend this one! Festive Pretzel We also HAD to try the Gingerbread Cola for $5.00, which is Coca-Cola served with gingerbread syrup. Okay…we were curious, but we have to tell you — this thing is WEIRD. It’s sickly sweet and reminds us of a medicine, if we’re honest. The gingerbread syrup is a hint of cinnamon and sugar, but again it has a syrupy sweetness like it’s trying to hide a bitter taste. If you’re looking for a pick-me-up, we just recommend a regular coke. Gingerbread Cola On to Fantasyland. At The Friar’s Nook, you can pick up the Holiday Pot Roast Hot Dog for $12.99. This is an all-beef hot dog topped with braised pot roast, Swiss fondue, horseradish mustard, and crispy onions. This was one of our reporter’s favorite thing she had! She loved the horseradish mustard and the crunch of the onions, but our other reporter thought it was dull and thought it just tasted like a normal hot dog. Holiday Pot Roast Hot Dog The Italian Beef Tots certainly sound good. They’re $11.29 and are tots topped with braised beef, cheese curds, zesty giardiniera, and red wine gravy. So they’re sorta’ like poutine, but with tots. These are heartier fries than what you’ll find at Casey’s Corner during the party, and we love how the pot roast truly tasted homemade. We do wish there were more cheese curds, but overall, it was solid! Italian Beef Tots Gotta’ try something sweet, of COURSE, so we ordered the Sugar Cookie Hand Pie for $6.29. It’s sugar cookie dough wrapped in a flaky crust with icing and festive sprinkles. This was controversial for our team — it’s such a strange treat with how crispy it is on the outside (thanks to that glaze on the outside), but since it was so warm, the glaze was melting down our hands! It was a little too messy and sticky for us, but for one of our reporters, it was worth it because the inside literally tasted like licking sugar cookie dough off the spoon. It gave her those warm holiday feelings you want from treats like this, but for our other reporter, it wasn’t worth the mess. If you’re sensitive to being slightly sticky and/or getting messy, this likely will NOT be the treat for you, but if you love sweets and you’re willing to brave it, we say go for it. Sugar Cookie Hand Pie The Toasted Marshmallow-Panna Cotta Tart with graham cracker, ganache, and a macaron for $6.49 certainly got our attention. This was NOT great in our opinion. It was super thin and watery in our opinion and the marshmallow topping reminded us of a strange frosting. While the salted caramel macaron was good, it wasn’t enough to save the whole treat. Toasted Marshmallow-Panna Cotta Tart Our final sweet treat here was the Eggnog Shake, which is made with eggnog soft-serve with ginger snap crumbles topped with whipped cream and festive sprinkles for $8.49. This was one of our reporter’s favorite ice cream of the night! It truly tastes like straight eggnog (without the liquor, of course). It was super refreshing but also heavy and comforting like eggnog is. If you’re a fan of the drink and like ice cream, definitely give this a try! Eggnog Shake The flatbreads at Pinocchio Village Haus are always hit or miss, but we had to try the special party-exclusive Baked Brie Flatbread for $13.29. It’s made with a brie-cheese spread, mango chutney, green apples, arugula, almonds, and a honey drizzle. This was fantastic! A perfect mix of sweet and savory and the Brie is melted really well, is super creamy, and has a great flavor. The mango chutney reminded us more of orange marmalade, but it was delicious nonetheless, and the mango flavor wasn’t overpowering. The fruity chutney really complements the Brie, and the apples were a wonderful texture, adding a bit of crunch and tartness to the dish. The arugula was a little sparse but when you did get a piece it worked really well with all the flavors. The sweet honey drizzle was the perfect finish and we were just so impressed with how well all the flavors worked together. We highly recommend for slightly more adventurous eaters! Baked Brie Flatbread We also grabbed the Black Forest Parfait, a flourless chocolate cake with chocolate mousse and cherry chantilly topped with brandy-cherry compote and chocolate popping candies for $5.99. This was really tasty as well, but we wished there was a bit less whipped cream on top. The chocolate cake and chocolate mousse had a wonderful deep chocolate flavor and the cherry compote was fantastic. The compote has full soft cherries mixed in that add a pop of tartness, but we will say we didn’t notice any popping candies on top like the description says. If you’re a fan of Black Forest cake, this parfait does not disappoint, it has all the flavors and they combine perfectly! Black Forest Parfait But hold on, we’re JUST getting started. It’s over to Frontierland to hit up Golden Oak Outpost next. Here, we tried the Holiday Chicken Nugget Platter. For $11.29, you get crispy chicken nuggets with sage butter and cranberry barbecue glaze served with mashed potatoes and corn. While we didn’t dislike this, we’ll be honest and say we don’t think it was worth the price. It’s more of a kids meal size, and for $11, that’s a LOT to pay for something that won’t fill you up. We also couldn’t taste a lot of the barbecue sauce because it was only drizzled only the chicken nuggets. Overall, it’s okay if you want something savory, but we don’t think it’s worth it. Holiday Chicken Nugget Platter You KNOW we weren’t going to pass up the Festive Beignets for $7.29. You get 3 light and fluffy beignets dusted with blue sugar cookie dust and served with cookie butter icing. Um…YUM? We LOVED these! We didn’t think you could make beignets any better, but these DO! We loved the cookie butter icing and the sugar cookie dust — it was very messy, but totally worth it to us. If you love sweets, this is something you’ve got to try! Festive Beignets You know that fried ice cream you can get at your local Mexican restaurant? Well, Disney has a Fried Ice Cream Christmas Tree and it’s made with peppermint ice cream rolled in cereal topped with green cookie butter whipped cream and festive sprinkles for $8.79. This was just weird, and our reporter usually loves a good friend ice cream. It fell apart so easily, and it was nothing to write home about. It was essentially mush, and while the peppermint flavor came through, we don’t think it was worth the price. Fried Ice Cream Christmas Tree Yee-haw! Let’s get on over to Pecos Bill Tall Tale Inn & Cafe to see the goodies available there. We were pretty stoked to try the Carne Asada Loaded Fries for $11.99, which are seasoned french fries with carne asada, chipotle queso, caramelized onion, avocado salsa verde, and queso fresco. Unfortunately, these weren’t our favorite. They’re very seasoned and were delicious themselves but the carne asada was very tough and had a very strong smoky/chili pepper flavor. The chipotle queso was similar to plastic cheese with a bit of chipotle flavor. We liked the creaminess the queso fresco added and the avocado salsa verde added additional creaminess, and chili pepper and chipotle were definitely the overwhelming flavors in this dish, but the meat just wasn’t great because it was so tough. Carne Asada Loaded Fries We paired those fries with a Salted Caramel Horchata for $5.49. Okay, so we LOVE horchata, so what did we think of this take on the classic Mexican drink? This, on the other hand, was fantastic! Definitely a very sweet drink but the combination of milk, cinnamon and caramel was wonderful. The balance between all the flavors was great and they melded together really well. A delicious horchata! Salted Caramel Horchata Okay, one more stop on our Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party snacks trail. We’re at Liberty Square to enjoy the party offerings at Sleepy Hollow Refreshments. The Orange Chicken Tenders for $10.99 are fried chicken tenders with orange-soy glaze, glass noodles, green onions, and crispy garlic. These were…okay. The glass noodles in this dish were crunchy and hard, which we’re not sure was a good thing, and while we didn’t mind that the orange sauce on the tenders was your “regular” orange sauce, the tenders were almost dry. They’re hard to cut up in the box, but they’re too saucy to pick up with your fingers, so while we didn’t hate these, we didn’t love them either. Orange Chicken Tenders We also ordered the Szechuan Cauliflower, which is spicy breaded cauliflower tossed in szechuan-soy glaze for $8.99. Spicy? We’ll be the judge of that…and the verdict is that while this was our favorite of the three items here, it still wasn’t great. The cauliflower was soft on the inside and had a nice breading, which paired well along with the sauce that had actual spice to it (so definitely may not be great for kids or picky eaters). This would be what we’d recommend over the other meal here, but there are so many better options at the party. Szechuan Cauliflower The last thing on our list? The Brownie Peppermint Bark with peppermint candy pieces for $5.49. WOW y’all, we won’t sugarcoat it — this was bad. It was immensely hard and tasted so stale it was practically inedible. Our reporter took one bite of it and had to fight the urge to spit it out. It has the potential to have a nice chocolate flavor, but it was entirely masked by how stale it was. Brownie Peppermint Bark Okay, y’all, we are TIRED. We ate a LOT, but we wanted to make sure you knew about everything available at the party! We’ll be here all NIGHT, so stay tuned to DFB for more. We’re singing Christmas carols, dancing in the magical snoap on Main Street, U.S.A., and enjoying the exclusive holiday entertainment at Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party! The parade is a must! This specially ticketed event happens on select nights from today, November 8th through December 20th at Magic Kingdom. From 7PM to midnight, Magic Kingdom is turned into a holiday wonderland! We love all the exclusive snacks, entertainment, characters, and complimentary treats of cookies and hot cocoa. But what’s really great about these exclusive events are all the short lines for the rides! When you go to Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party, you’ll generally find shorter waits at all the attractions that are open. However, not all the attractions ARE open during the party, so you’ll want to be ready to experience what is available. Over in Adventureland, you can hop on The Magic Carpets of Aladdin and Pirates of the Caribbean. But back this year, and available during the party, is the Jingle Cruise! We LOVE riding on the holiday-themed cruise. Jingle Cruise is BACK! If you continue onward to Frontierland, you can enjoy Tiana’s Bayou Adventure with a standby line! During the party, this new ride will NOT have a Virtual Queue, so you can hop right in line. You can also ride on the wildest ride in the wilderness — Big Thunder Mountain Railroad — or say hello to the gang at Country Bear Musical Jamboree! In Liberty Square, you can get a lazy tour of the Haunted Mansion. Tiana on Tiana’s Bayou Adventure Fantasyland offers lots of fun on the Mad Tea Party with its adorable holiday overlay! Mad Tea Party during Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party Also available to ride in Fantasyland are the following rides: Under the Sea ~ Journey of The Little Mermaid Seven Dwarfs Mine Train Prince Charming Regal Carrousel “it’s a small world” Peter Pan’s Flight The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh Storybook Circus offers Dumbo the Flying Elephant and The Barnstormer during the party. The Barnstormer Over in Tomorrowland THREE attractions have fun holiday overlays during Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party! On Space Mountain, you’ll soar through space jamming out to some holiday tunes and festive lighting. Space Mountain in its festive lighting (2022) On Tomorrowland Speedway, you’ll see lots of holiday decor, lights, and a “futuristic holiday soundtrack” and you cruise the track. Tomorrowland Speedway during Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party If you want to get some good laughs, we suggest stopping by Monsters Inc. Laugh Floor! You’ll be chucking “ho ho ho” just like Santa by the end of the holiday-themed show. Monster’s Inc. Laugh Floor Holiday Overlay Other rides open in Tomorrowland during the party are as follows! Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin Astro Orbiter Tomorrowland Transit Authority PeopleMover TRON Lightcycle / Run TRON Lightcycle / Run We’re having a blast at Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party! The Holidays are here… at least at Disney World. Mickey’s Once Upon A Christmastime parade Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party has officially begun, marking the unofficial start of the Holiday season at the resort. The main draws of the party are the exclusive Holiday experiences, including Mickey’s Once Upon a Christmas Parade, Minnie’s Wonderful Christmastime Fireworks Show, treats, and character meet & greets in their Holiday best, and access to many of the Magic Kingdom’s attractions including holiday overlays of Space Mountain, and the Jingle Cruise. So, with all that offer, just how crowded is Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party this year? We entered the park right at 4PM, when your after hours tickets allow you to enter the park, and crowds were VERY heavy! Crowds are no joke! However, the lines moved very quickly, and we tapped in within a few minutes! They opened the gates at 3:45PM and we were scanned into the park by 3:49PM (yes, even with that massive crowd!). We got our bracelet right after scanning in, but we were held for a minute just inside the gates before we could move into the rest of the park. It is PACKED! Inside the park, we followed the crowds over to Market St, where crowds continued to be relatively large as we all were entering at one time, but things seemed to ease just a little bit! Here we go! At 7PM, the party officially began, and we took a look at wait times to see how many guests were in the park. Now, remember, regular park guests had to leave at 6PM, so by 7PM, the majority of people in these queues are here for the party. The highest wait time was TRON Lightcycle / Run at 50 minutes, which isn’t bad for the hottest ride in the park! ©Disney Other notable wait times were Space Mountain and Peter Pan’s Flight both at 45 minutes, Tiana’s Bayou Adventure at 40 minutes, Jingle Cruise at 35 minutes, Seven Dwarfs Mine Train at 35 minutes, and Haunted Mansion at 20 minutes. Jingle Cruise Also at the beginning of the party, we waited about 45 minutes for the new Mickey Elf Popcorn Bucket! This was just announced and it’s exclusive to the party, so it’s going to be popular among partygoers. Exclusive to Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party By 8PM, ride wait times had dropped IMMENSELY. The highest wait time in the park was TRON Lightcycle / Run at 35 minutes with Peter Pan’s Flight and Jingle Cruise also at 35 minutes, and Tiana’s Bayou Adventure was ONLY 25 minutes! ©Disney And by 8:30PM when the first parade was starting, they had moved around a bit. Peter Pan’s Flight was back up to a 40-minute wait, TRON was 35 minutes, Seven Dwarfs Mine Train and Jingle Cruise were 30 minutes each, and Tiana’s Bayou Adventure had dropped to 15 minutes! ©Disney We’ll be continuing to update on crowds and wait times throughout the night, so stay tuned! Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party is certainly crowded this year, but not too terrible this year! Stay tuned to DFB for more updates on the Holiday season. It’s officially that time of year — Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party (MVMCP) has kicked off in Magic Kingdom! Party map! This is really the main event where we ring in the holiday season and start celebrating all things holly and jolly. With Mickey’s Once Upon a Christmastime Parade, complimentary cookies and cocoa, rare character meets, and more exclusive offerings, this party is usually a festive blast! But there’s one problem we’ve been noticing the past few years that we need to talk about. Like many other offerings, the price of Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party has continued to increase over the years. Last year, tickets ranged from $159 to $199 — depending on which night you chose to go. This year, those ticket prices have jumped up quite a bit, with a range from $169 to $219 per person. Let’s go to a Christmas Party! Now, we wouldn’t mind the price increase so much if MVMCP was changing in new and exciting ways each year, but that’s not really the case. For the most part, the party has stayed relatively the same the past few years — the same entertainment offerings each year, mostly the same character meet and greets, and even the same ride overlays. The Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party Parade! Some little things get modified from year to year, like the exclusive snacks available and the selection of merchandise, but that’s about it. In fact, some offerings have even DIMINISHED in recent years, like the cookie and beverage situation. If you compare the offerings from a few years ago (like pre-pandemic), there were more unique flavors of complimentary cookies to find around the park during the party, as well as more matching beverage options. Now, we’re mostly down to pretty basic cookie flavors along with hot cocoa and apple cider. Sugar Cookie and Apple Cider As much as we love the exclusive entertainment at the party, Disney hasn’t offered much “enhancement” there to go with the price changes either. Mickey’s Once Upon a Christmastime Parade is still the same, as is Minnie’s Wonderful Christmastime Fireworks and Mickey’s Most Merriest Celebration. After 2019, we also, unfortunately, lost the beloved Cinderella Castle Dream Lights during the holiday season — they’ve now been replaced with projections that are holiday-themed. Minnie’s Wonderful Christmastime Fireworks So what would Disney need to do to rectify this situation? Well, we’ve got a few ideas. It could start as simple as swapping out some of the character meet and greets during the party. Introduce more rare characters that we don’t often get to see to make the party feel more exclusive. Also, adding Christmas lighting and music to a few more rides during the party and labeling it an “overlay” wouldn’t hurt. Toy Soldiers at Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party We’d love to see some new characters or floats in the Christmas parade as well, and adding in a few smaller entertainment options around the park would be nice. Just little touches that make the party ticket feel a smidge more valuable would be quite welcome. Mickey’s Once Upon A Christmastime parade If Disney made some of these upgrades, it would also probably help disperse crowds a little better. In the past few years, the party has felt particularly crowded and it has been difficult to navigate. Spreading out the crowds is a great strategy for making that party ticket worth the cost. We’re heading to the first event of 2024 and will be sure to update you about the crowd levels this year. So far it was a very smooth process getting our wristbands and scanning in. Crowds before Very Merry So there you have it — the main problem that’s plaguing the Christmas party these days. Stay tuned to DFB for more updates on this event! Ho! Ho! Ho! We are feeling super festive right now because we are at the very first Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party of the year. Mickey’s Once Upon A Christmastime Parade This special ticketed event in Magic Kingdom is a highlight of the year for us because we get a chance to check out some amazing party-exclusive entertainment, see some rare characters, and eat ALL the party-exclusive snacks. Oh, and we might even do some shopping for exclusive merchandise, too. So come with us and let’s go! We’ll be updating this post throughout the night as we experience more of Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party, so keep checking back for the latest! Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party is a separately ticketed event that happens on select nights in Magic Kingdom from now through December 20th. It takes place after Magic Kingdom closes to regular park visitors for the day (at 6PM) and you need a ticket JUST for the event to attend. Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party If you don’t have a regular ticket to Magic Kingdom for the day, you can still get into the party at 4PM with the party officially kicking off at 7PM. Tickets for the party start at $169 and go up to $219 per ticket per person depending on the date you attend. Here’s a full list of party dates and ticket prices. Getting Started As we previously mentioned, you can enter Magic Kingdom as early as 4PM if you have a party ticket for that evening. Once you scan into the park, a Cast Member will give you a special wristband indicating that you’re a party guest. Our wristband! If you’re already in Magic Kingdom, you can pick up your wristband at different spots around the park. Crowds We got to the park right at 4PM and WOW it was certainly busy! Crowds at the TTC were very intense. https://x.com/disneyfoodblog/status/1854995392846344406?s=46 They did have a separation between who was attending for the party and who was entering for a regular park day though, so regular park day guests don’t have to get stuck behind that massive crowd. You’ll need to head to the left for the party! While the crowds were heavy, the line to enter did move quickly, and we were given our wristband within about 10 minutes and following the rest of the huge crowd into the party. Follow the crowd! When you enter Main Street, U.S.A., you’ll see that party guests are directed to follow the direction one of the large Main Street vehicles is directing you to go. Follow the arrow! This is where you’ll be given your event map, and your wristband if you weren’t already given one at the front, and you’ll receive your complimentary ornament! The complimentary ornament! Now it’s really time to party! Party Map You can also pick up a party map, which you’ll want to grab because it’s your guide to everything going on during the party, including which attractions are open, entertainment info, cookie stops, and more. https://x.com/disneyfoodblog/status/1855005758921785602?s=46 The map also lists specialty treats that are exclusive to the party. Exclusive treats It’ll also let you know what holiday entertainment you can enjoy throughout the night… Can’t forget the entertainment! …as well as, of course, the map, which will show you where all the attractions, dining locations, restrooms, and party-specific offerings are. The whole map! Trust us — you don’t want to miss picking up your map! Food One thing we LOVE about this party is that you can get FREE snacks. Select locations throughout Magic Kingdom are giving out free drinks (usually hot cocoa and apple cider) AND cookies! Look for big peppermint-printed inflatables to find all the free-treat locations. ©Disney You’ll also find exclusive snacks you can purchase during the party. Don’t worry — we’ll be trying them all out! Stay tuned for more! Characters Exclusive meet-and-greets with characters are also a fun thing to do during the party. That includes Jack and Sally from Nightmare Before Christmas. When we walked into the party on Market St, we got to meet some adorable gingerbread men! Gingerbread men! There were also some amazing Snowflake Stilt Walkers walking around too! Snowflake Stilt Walkers! Stay tuned for more! Entertainment You want entertainment? There is a LOT. You’ll find Disney Junior Jam at Cosmic Ray’s Starlight Cafe, featuring music from all your favorite Disney Junior shows. There’s also Club Tinsel at the Tomorrowland stage, where you can dance all night long to your favorite Disney and holiday hits. Frozen Holiday Surprise adds a Frozen-like winter wonderland overlay on Cinderella Castle. You can meet Santa in Storybook Circus, which becomes Santa’s Christmas Carnival. Mickey’s Once Upon A Christmastime Parade is always a MUST at the party. It features holiday music, all your favorite characters in their holiday outfits, and more. Minnie’s Wonderful Christmastime Fireworks lights up the sky with a holiday spectacular. Mickey’s Most Merriest Celebration is a stage show featuring all your favorite characters. You can also find Photo Ops throughout the park that are specific to the holiday season, like this one we spotted on Main Street U.S.A.! Photo Opportunity on Main Street U.S.A. We’ll be checking all of these offerings out tonight so tuned for more! Attractions The map will tell you which attractions are open for the party. Some of the rides get a special overlay just for the party. Here’s what’s open: Adventureland Jingle Cruise — featuring a Holiday overlay! Swiss Family Treehouse The Magic Carpets of Aladdin Pirates of the Caribbean Fantasyland “it’s a small world” Peter Pan’s Flight Seven Dwarfs Mine Train Mad Tea Party Prince Charming Regal Carrousel Under the Sea — Journey of The Little Mermaid The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh Frontierland Big Thunder Mountain Railroad Tiana’s Bayou Adventure Liberty Square Haunted Mansion Storybook Circus Dumbo the Flying Elephant The Barnstormer Tomorrowland Space Mountain — Holiday Run — featuring a Party-exclusive Holiday overlay! When we put it on, the rain rolls right off thanks to this great material. It was also large enough that we were able to fit our backpack under it on our back and still feel comfortable! We felt protected under it but not too hot. After the rain stopped, we were able to pack it in the waterproof pouch that comes with it and slip it back into our backpack without anything else getting wet. Frogg Togg Poncho We liked it so much during our test run that we packed it again the very next day! It was a great addition to our park bag, and we’re glad we got it. For being inexpensive, it was certainly durable and effective at keeping us dry. Get it for 35% off right now on Amazon too! It’s a separate insert that has tons of pockets, slots, a zipper bag, and more to keep your bag organized, meaning you can sort and find things inside your bag a LOT easier than without one of these. Loungefly Bags We love how we can just take the whole organizer out of our bag and put it in another one, transferring all of our items at once! View on Amazon Reusable Utensil Set Reusable Utensils With all the snacks and food we eat at Disney World, we can highly recommend this reusable utensil set! We find ourselves using it often. Between EPCOT festivals and our normal go-to snacks, we love having these in our bags with us. It’s great to have them with us anytime we need them without having to hunt down the closest utensil stand in the parks. So useful! We can easily wipe these off and throw them back in the case until the next time we need them. For under $10, we think this is essential to have with you in the parks. View on Amazon Reusable Straw Kit Silicone straw set We love that Disney World is being more conscientious about the level of plastic they’re putting out. If you haven’t noticed, they’ve switched over to paper straws at the majority of locations. However, these straws are prone to falling apart if you don’t drink your drink fast enough, so we love bringing reusable straws along with us! No more paper straws! These come with their own containers and cleaners too. They are under $10 right now on Amazon so grab them while they are on sale. Okay, it is an AMAZING time to be a Star Wars fan because Star Wars is literally everywhere. ©Disney We’ve got Star Wars books, comics, TV shows (and I am SO STOKED about the upcoming Skeleton Crew series on Disney+), movies, even more movies, merchandise, and Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge in TWO Disney Parks. So why do I feel so weird about a new report that Disney is working on MORE Star Wars movies? Well, it’s complicated (and let’s face it, Star Wars fans also tend to be pretty complicated). Deadline recently reported that Disney is planning a NEW Star Wars trilogy with Simon Kinberg (X-Men) set to direct. And yes, as soon as I heard the word “trilogy,” I inwardly cringed. Okay, so, yes the original Star Wars movies were a trilogy, and then there was the prequel trilogy, followed by the sequel trilogy (and those two weren’t widely beloved by fans). Now, don’t get me wrong, I loved both the prequels and sequels (although I would argue the best of the sequel movies is The Last Jedi because it was the only film in that trilogy that DIDN’T try to copy previous movies). ©Disney Anyway, Kinberg will write the trio and produce them with Lucasfilm head Kathleen Kennedy. Kinberg is certainly a good choice for a new Star Wars project: he worked with Dave Filoni and Carrie Beck on the excellent Star Wars Rebels animated series and acted as a consultant on Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens. So he knows his stuff. ©Disney So here’s the thing. There are already MANY Star Wars projects in the works, including previously reported projects with James Mangold, Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy, and Taika Waititi. There’s also the Mandalorian and Grogu and another untitled Star Wars movie to be led by Dave Filoni. Do we really need three MORE movies? Especially when we also have three TV shows coming soon, including Skeleton Crew, season 2 of Andor, and season 3 of Ahsoka? ©Disney There’s also the issue of WHEN does this new trilogy take place? Deadline originally suggested that the new trilogy would pick up after the events of Episodes 10-12, which supposedly ended The Skywalker Saga. Like many fans, I’m kind of Skywalker-ed out and I don’t have a lot of interest in continuing those storylines. However, others in the industry suggest this is a new trilogy that will align with the other movies that are already in the works, but then again, does it have to be a TRILOGY? Is that what fans want at this point? The Rise of Skywalker ©Disney My fear is that Disney is going to do to Star Wars what it did with Marvel: oversaturate us to to the point where we have Star Wars fatigue. Don’t get me wrong: I’m all for new Star Wars, but I don’t think we need three more movies added to the production schedule — let’s just focus on those films that have already been announced, shall we? So, yes, this news has me feeling a ton of emotions right now, but I guess, we need to see where Disney plans to go with this new trilogy. Stay tuned to DFB for more. Okay, enough about Disney World, let’s travel over to the West Coast and talk about Disneyland a little bit. Sleeping Beauty Castle Now, a LOT is going on over at Disneyland, and a lot more will be going on soon. Tiana’s Bayou Adventure will be opening SOON. Haunted Mansion is getting a new queue and gift shop. A Coco ride is on the way, as is a whole land devoted to Avatar. Things are going to be BUSY. So if you’re planning a trip to Disneyland in 2025 (like we are), you’ll want to know exactly what will be closed throughout the year, right? Well, we’ve got your back. So here’s a full list of things that will be closed in Disneyland in 2025 Disneyland Great Moments with Mr. Lincoln in the Main Street Opera House closed on April 16th, 2024 for a lengthy refurbishment. ©Disney The attraction, which features an audio-animatronic Abraham Lincoln, will add a second show to the theatre, “Walt Disney — A Magical Life,” which will feature the first EVER animatronic of Walt Disney. Great Moments with Mr. Lincoln will then play in rotation with the new show when it reopens sometime in 2025. However, we do not have a specific date for its opening. ©Disney Another classic Disneyland attraction, this time over in Fantasyland, will be closing for a lengthy refurbishment in early 2025. The classic “it’s a small world” (and yes, the Disneyland version of the ride is the superior version) will be closing for a refurbishment from January 21st through Spring 2025. Note that the ride will also close briefly in the fall to make way for its holiday overlay. “it’s a small world” in Disneyland If you had plans to catch the show “Tale of the Lion King” in Disneyland, you’ll be missing out. The show closed permanently in January 2024 and will not be returning to Disneyland. We’re still waiting to see what Disneyland will do with the Fantasyland Theatre. Tale of the Lion King We previously mentioned that some work is being done at Haunted Mansion. However, the ride is currently open with a virtual queue. Note that it will close again in early 2025 to be converted from its current version, Haunted Mansion Holiday, back to Haunted Mansion. It will close again in the late summer ahead of Halloween Time to be converted back into Haunted Mansion Holiday. Haunted Mansion Holiday at Disneyland The Magic Happens parade is seasonal and should return in February 2025, but is usually replaced by the Pixar Fest parade that begins and April and runs through August. Magic Happens Magic Happens then returns again until the holiday season when it is replaced with Disneyland’s holiday parade in mid-November. This NEW HACK Lets You Use Lightning Lane Premier Pass on a Popular Disney Ride TWICE in One Day! Disney California Adventure A Disney California Adventure ICON is going to permanently close in 2025, and we’re still not sure how we fill about it. On the one hand, it’s closing so we can get something NEW is coming to Avengers Campus (TWO new rides), and that’s exciting. Yes, the Red Car Trolley will go away forever in early 2025. Red Car Trolley! In order to make room for the new additions to Avengers Campus, the Red Car Trolley Barn will need to close in California Adventure’s backstage area. The holiday season is coming to Disneyland, and that includes some new offerings this year. Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge in Disneyland However, there’s ANOTHER holiday that Disneyland celebrates that Star Wars fans might know about. It’s Life Day, which is a Wookiee holiday that celebrates family, joy, and harmony. So, basically, it’s sort of like the Wookiee version of Christmas. Now, Life Day gets celebrated in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge in Disneyland every year, and this year, the celebration is bringing a new popcorn bucket and snacks. Disneyland will be celebrating Life Day from November 15th through January 7th, and you’ll be able to grab a very special Wookiee Life Day Bucket while supplies last (which probably won’t be long). The popcorn bucket has a wookiee face engraved on it and it’s almost so lifelike that we find it a little creepy. Like it’s cute, but it’s also a bit TOO real, you know? Like this Wookiee’s eyes follow you. Anyway, you’ll be able to pick this bucket up at Kat Saka’s Kettle. ©Disney Some special Life Day treats are also coming to Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge. Grab some Wookie Ookieees at the Milk Stand. These are made with pecan chocolate shortbread with salted caramel. ©Disney While you’re at the Milk Stand, be sure to grab Blue Milk with Golden Lichen paddy Frog Eggs. It’s Blue Milk with strawberry puree lychee popping spheres. ©Disney The Life Day Cheese Branch with Kat Saka’s Secret Sauce is made with croissant dough mixed with cream cheese, parmesan and cheddar, with spicy alfredo dipping sauce. You can pick it up at Kat Saka’s Kettle. ©Disney You can pair that with something to drink: the Sarjenn Snowcap, a Coca-Cola and cinnamon slushy, sweet cream cheese, and Dalgona crisp. This drink is also available at Kat Saka’s Kettle. ©Disney You can enjoy Kashyyyk Cake at Docking Bay 7 Food and Cargo. It’s made with a brownie base, raspberry sauce, tiramisu, and dark chocolate mousse. Kashyyyk Cake For something more savory, try the Kublag Curry, which is also at Docking Bay 7 Food and Cargo. It’s made with herb rice, curry-spiced shrimp, creamy chicken curry, cilantro, and feta crumbles. ©Disney You can order Millaflower Toast at Oga’s Cantina. It’s cinnamon-swirl toast, whipped ricotta cream, cheesecake frosting, strawberries, lychee pearls, chocolate crumble, and matcha powder. ©Disney The Keshian Spiced Cream will go great with that toast. It’s made with Irish cream, white rum, spiced rum, ginger, and cinnamon syrups, topped with a chocolate spiced whipped cream. ©Disney Be sure to grab these new snacks and drinks the next time you visit Disneyland. There’s a new, hot item at Hong Kong Disneyland Resort! And no, it’s not the latest ear headband or a snazzy new hoodie, trash is the talk of the town this season — litter-ally. When the all-new, exclusive Push Mystery Figurine set hit the shelves in Hong Kong, there was no time to waste as guests began collecting and trading their finds. Available in stores around Hong Kong Disneyland Resort, each box contains one randomly selected figurine that looks just like the iconic, themed trash cans around the park. World of Frozen, Toy Story Land, Tomorrowland, “it’s a small world,” Main Street U.S.A and last, but certainly not least, the famous PUSH the Talking Trash Can in Fantasyland are among the six you might pull from a box. With so many potential styles to choose from, the masterminds behind the collection, Amy and Rachel, shared that they walked the park several times, comparing each and every one before landing on the coveted final six. The top priority was to choose something colorful, allowing the themes to be distinguished from one another and catch the eye of potential collectors. From the start, PUSH, the talking trash can who roams around Fantasyland engaging with guests, was a must to include and actually inspired the entire collection to begin with! “At the time, we wanted to create something unique to the park, and I immediately thought of making a mini-PUSH because of its popularity,” shared Amy. “We landed in this direction and decided to make a mini trash can mystery set of six.” And who knew that six miniature figures would create such a phenomenon at the resort! Not only are guests snatching up this exclusive item, they’re even coming to the park in their very own trash-tastic looks. Amy and Rachel have been taken aback by the popularity of their creation. In fact, it’s become a special moment in their careers. “This toy trash can collection has also become a memorable part of my journey. I’m really grateful for the support from my team and my leaders,” shared Rachel. “Everyone contributed their ideas to make it a hit. Seeing a product I helped plan—from the concept and production to its market launch—become so well-loved by everyone brings me great satisfaction.” We can’t wait to get our hands on these mini figures the next time we’re at Hong Kong Disneyland! The holiday season is in full swing at Disney World and we’re taking in all the sights, sounds, smells, and of course — snacks! Main Street Train Station The parks have been decorated with garland, wreaths, and trees, and even the Disney World hotels are getting in on the festivities. We already checked out the gorgeous gingerbread house at the Grand Floridian, but there’s another impressive gingerbread display at Disney’s Contemporary Resort, too. And, it’s officially open! One of our favorite parts of Disney World during the holidays are the gorgeous gingerbread displays you’ll find throughout some of the hotels on property. And, this year, we’re pretty excited about the Contemporary Resort’s display because Disney has brought the Cinderella Castle Dream Lights back! Well, sort of. What’s behind the curtain?! Here it is — the Cinderella Castle Dream Lights gingerbread display is officially open for visitors! You’ll find it on the fourth floor of the Contemporary Resort. Cinderella Castle Dreamlights gingerbread display This work of art is so beautiful and impressive — the Disney chefs put SO much detail into each display, and this one is no different. You can even see the window details and the clock on the front of the castle! If these are the only Dream Lights we get, well, we’ll just have to deal with it. So pretty! Don’t forget to look for all of those Hidden Mickeys on the castle! Hidden Mickeys And, there are plenty of gingerbread and other treats for you to peruse and purchase as well. We picked up the Mickey Linzer cookie for $6.49. This Mickey shaped cookie is really cute. And the powdered sugar and red raspberry filling make it feel especially festive for this time of year. It is quite soft, and not hard like you might expect from a shortbread type cookie. It has a nice buttery taste and while the filling is delicious on its own and complements the cookie very well, this is going to break apart on you pretty quickly. It can be a little messy. So even though it’s individually wrapped when you pick it up, you want to be sure that you’re grabbing a napkin or two! It is crazy to think that 2024 is coming to an end, which means it is time to start planning your trip to Disney World in 2025. Magic Kingdom Disney made so many announcements in 2024 about the future of Disney World and all that is to come, and now 2025 is almost here, which means we are about to start seeing those changes reflected in the parks and resorts. While all these new additions and perks will be great in the long run, unfortunately, they may make your 2025 trip to Disney World a little more complicated. In August, at D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event, many exciting announcements were made about the new additions coming to Disney World. These included new rides, lands, and entertainment offerings! But with new additions comes the need for construction, which unfortunately leads to closures. D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event Ride and land closures can be a real bummer, especially if you did not know about them before your trip. You can expect construction in all four parks throughout 2025. Construction walls in Adventureland In Magic Kingdom, we can expect construction in Adventureland as the new Pirates of the Caribbean Lounge is scheduled to open in 2025. An all-new lounge themed to Pirates of the Caribbean will open at Magic Kingdom in 2025. ©Disney At D23, we learned that a brand new Cars area will be coming to Frontierland. It will replace Tom Sawyer Island and the Rivers of America. While no closing date has been announced, Disney confirmed that construction will start in early 2025. Coming to Frontierland at Magic Kingdom, a new area themed to Pixar Animation Studios’ “Cars,” will leave Radiator Springs and head to the wilderness with two new attractions, including an off-road race. We finally found out what “Beyond Big Thunder Mountain” will be, and it was confirmed that the highly rumored and anticipated Disney Villains Land will become a reality! While no timeline has been announced, Big Thunder will close for a lengthy refurbishment on January 6th, 2025, and will reopen sometime in 2026. We’ve already spotted some construction In EPCOT, Test Track closed over the summer to be reimagined as a third iteration of the attraction. No exact opening date has been announced, but the ride is expected to reopen in 2025. Test Track is closed EPCOT will also be home to a new attraction-themed lounge, the Spaceship Earth lounge, which is expected to open in 2025. ©Disney Hollywood Studios will soon be home to two new entertainment offerings in 2025! But while we wait for the brand new The Little Mermaid – A Musical Adventure and the new Disney Villains Stage Show, construction will be taking place on the buildings for the previous Voyage of the Little Mermaid as well as Lightning McQueen’s Racing Academy. The Little Mermaid – A Musical Adventure While we do not have many details about the new Monsters Inc. land coming to Hollywood Studios, we would not be surprised if we saw closures and construction start for this new area sometime in 2025. ©Disney Animal Kingdom will see some of the first closures of the year. On January 13th, TriceraTop Spin, Fossil Fun Games, and Chester & Hester’s Dinosaur Treasures will all close permanently. This is the first phase of closures to hit DinoLand U.S.A., which will be rethemed into a Tropical Americas-themed land called Pueblo Esperanza. We would not be surprised if another phase of the land’s construction starts in 2025, as the whole land is expected to open in 2027. ©Disney Also, in Animal Kingdom, The Tree of Life will be getting a brand new show. It was announced that It’s Tough to be a Bug! will be replaced by a new show called Zootopia: Better Zoogether. The show is expected to open in the winter of 2025, which means It’s Tough to be a Bug! will close sometime in 2025. A new show inspired by the Walt Disney Animation Studios film “Zootopia” will debut next winter in Discovery Island at Disney’s Animal Kingdom. ©Disney While it is a bummer that all four parks will have ride closures and construction, there is still plenty to see and do. Plus, it is exciting to think about all the new projects that will be available in the future! Disney World Is Getting 8 New Rides! It is not only the parks that will see construction, but multiple resorts will have pool closures as well as construction to update rooms. Bay Lake Tower started a year-long renovation in September of 2024, and it is expected to be completed in 2025. While the resort remains open, you may hear construction noise and specific offerings may be unavailable. Bay Lake Tower Many people choose to stay at the Yacht and Beach Club for access to Stormalong Bay, but the club and the Shipwreck Pool will be closed from January 2025 to June 2025. Stormalong Bay Stormalong Bay is not the only resort pool closing. The Fantasia Pool at Disney’s All-Star Movies Resort will be closed from January 2025 to April 2025. Fantasia Pool Phew! There will be a lot of construction and closures coming to Disney World in 2025, but that is not the only thing that will make it more complicated. Early in 2024, it was announced that Disney World hotel guests would get a brand-new perk! Starting in 2025, guests staying at a Disney World hotel will get a free ticket to visit a Disney World water park on check-in day! While this perk is a great way to pass the time as you wait for your room to be ready, it does present a few issues. Typhoon Lagoon To start with, Disney World currently operates one water park at a time. When this perk starts, Blizzard Beach will be the only water park open, as Typhoon Lagoon closed for the season earlier this month. This perk also means that guests will either change into their swimsuits in lobby bathrooms or, if they forget to take them out, dig through their luggage to find one before leaving it with bell services. Blizzard Beach We expect that buses will be packed to go to the water park as the only way to get to Blizzard Beach is by bus or rideshare, like a Minnie Van. If you bring your own car or rent a car, we highly recommend driving it to the water park if you plan on taking advantage of this perk. Summit Plummet at Blizzard Beach Disney World is changing, and that means in 2025, we will have to deal with the growing pains that can make a trip more complicated. We recommend watching out for closures that will be happening during your trip to avoid any disappointment and also to help you make your game plan. Spaceship Earth We know that closures, construction, and crowds can be disappointing, but we will be here every step of the way to help you navigate all the changes coming to Disney World in 2025.
