There are so many restaurants to choose from when trying to decide where you should eat in Disney World. Kona Cafe at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort Your 60-day Advance Dining reservation window is about to come up, and you panic – you do not know where to dine! Don’t worry! That is where DFB is here to help you out! AJ has three Disney World restaurants that have been reliable for years, and she always recommends them. Trust us, she knows what she is talking about when it comes to where to find the best food at Disney World! She has been Disney Food Blogging for 15 years now! Now, it is important to note that a high price tag does not always mean that the food quality is going to be great. Some restaurants are more about the theme and experience rather than fine dining. Other restaurants offer all-you-care-to-enjoy meals where they charge more for the quantity of the food rather than the quality of the food. Garden Grill feast With that being said, let’s dive into AJ’s top three OL’ reliable restaurants at Disney World! Le Cellier Steakhouse Starting off in EPCOT’s Canada Pavilion, tucked away, you will find Le Cellier Steakhouse. It can be hard to find reservations for this restaurant, especially if you are traveling during peak travel season, so make sure you are searching for dining reservations as soon as your Advance Dining reservation window opens. Oh, Canada! This tends to be one of AJ’s favorite places to dine, and it is a great location to celebrate an anniversary, birthday, or just life in general. Le Cellier Steakhouse Le Cellier serves many classic steakhouse options, as well as a few signature dishes, like loaded poutine and Canadian Cheddar Cheese Soup. And if you need a quiet, comforting escape from all the theme park action, Le Cellier’s atmosphere can provide just that — someplace warm and cozy. Except that sometimes the booths can feel a little too close together. Regardless, Le Cellier has been and will continue to be AJ’s go-to option if she is craving a filet or a nice bowl of cheesy soup. Le Cellier Steakhouse in EPCOT Nomad Lounge OL’ Reliable number two is located in Animal Kingdom. Nomad Lounge is attached to Tiffins, a signature restaurant, but Nomad Lounge uses its own Walk-up Waitlist and seating process. Nomad Lounge It also has a slightly different menu from Tiffins and the best part is that you won’t have to pay signature meal prices if you do not want to. Lounge-style seating On the menu, you will find specialty beverages, including some fun and exclusive mocktails. Small plates include grilled chicken satay, Tiffins’ bread service, and what AJ claims to be the BEST churros on the property. Churros! Sanaa For AJ’s third OL’ reliable, she recommends Sanaa at Animal Kingdom Lodge. Both the park and the resort are pros when it comes to serving tasty meals in a stunning dining room setting. Sanaa Sanaa is located in the Kidani Village section of the resort. It is a table-service restaurant where you can enjoy authentic African and Indian-inspired food next to windows that look out over the resort’s savanna. Sanaa Since Sanaa tends to be out of the way of other resorts and parks (besides Animal Kingdom), it often gets overlooked. But if you can make time for it during your visit, AJ thinks this one could really steal the spotlight as far as your Disney dining adventure is concerned. Sanaa If you want to learn more about the Disney World dining scene and read up on our most recent reviews, advice, and recommendations, make sure to check out the DFB Guide to Walt Disney World Dining on dfbstore.com! While Disney World may be the Most Magical Place on Earth, that doesn’t mean that bad things can’t happen. Animal Kingdom Yes, negative things are sometimes a little more manageable because hey, you’re in Disney World, but sometimes life’s struggles still break through that Disney bubble. Not to mention that being in Disney World can create a whole slew of NEW problems that you don’t really experience anywhere else. Since Cast Members are the first line of help for any issues in the parks, that means you could hear them say some pretty undesirable things throughout your trip, and if you do, you may want to turn around and walk the other way. “Are ya bleeding? …Did it get in your food?” WE ARE NOT KIDDING, WE HEARD THIS IN DISNEY WORLD! We’ll be honest, we were facing the other way when we heard a Cast Member say this to (we’re assuming) a guest, and after we heard it, we 100% were not about to turn around to find out. First Aid will have some basic supplies like medicine and bandages Some of us on the team are definitely squeamish when it comes to blood, but the rest of us just also don’t want to see that on our vacation if we don’t have to. If you hurt yourself and are bleeding in Disney World, it’s time to head to first aid! There’s one located in each park, typically close to the entrance of each park. Magic Kingdom First Aid Center If you have trouble finding first aid, or you’re afraid you’ll have trouble getting there, you can ask any nearby Cast Member for assistance. And if you happen to get blood in your food…PLEASE DO NOT EAT IT. “Head on over to that yellow line!” Doesn’t seem like too big of a deal, right? Well, in this case, this was said at security where after forgetting to take her umbrella out of her bag, our team member was asked to step over to get her bag inspected…and was faced with the LONGEST bag check line she’d ever seen. Mini UV Umbrella Safety is very important in the Disney World parks, and we’re very thankful it’s taken so seriously to keep all guests safe, but our team member was KICKING HERSELF that if she would have just remembered to take out her umbrella, she would have saved TONS of time. So this is your reminder that if you want to get through security fast, take out the following items and hold them in your hands as you walk through: Umbrellas Phones, tablets, any electronics (INCLUDING portable chargers!) Hard glasses cases Any items that contain metal Security Line at Transportation and Ticket Center It’s best to have these items in your hands by the time you’re stepping up to security/stepping off the parking tram so you don’t slow down the line. We know, it’s a little stressful, but it’s worth it to make it through security with no issues! Code V We’ve mentioned Code V on more than one occasion, but we feel it’s always important to rehash because it’s truly very unpleasant. Yes, Code V stands for Code Vomit, meaning someone has gotten sick in the area and it needs to be cleaned up. Custodian Cast Members Making Water Art! That alone should encourage you to proceed with caution, but this particular story comes from a former Cast Member on our team who had to call a Code V because as she was seating a family for their meal at ‘Ohana, they watched kids at another table get sick. Yeah, not at all fun for anyone involved. ‘Ohana And this is just your reminder too that we KNOW you’ve spent tons of money on this trip and you don’t want anything to ruin it, but if you or your kid is sick, PLEASE do not bring them into Disney World parks. We know it stinks to have to stay at the hotel room, but everyone in your party will have a miserable day with not everyone feeling 100% AND you’ll be spreading your germs to other guests, and that’s just not very courteous. Announcing A Ride Closure Hearing a Cast Member announce that the ride you’re currently waiting in line for is closed is NOT ideal and certainly isn’t something you want to hear, but did you know there’s something SPECIFIC you should be listening for when a Cast Member informs you a ride is down? Big Thunder Mountain Railroad closed Pay very close attention to the wording the Cast Member uses to inform you the ride is down. If you heard them say something like “You are welcome to stay in line and we’ll hopefully be up and running soon,” it’s much more likely that Cast Members are only experiencing a minor difficulty and have hope that the ride will come back up shortly. Slinky Dog Dash closed However, if you hear them say something like, “You can stay in line IF YOU WANT but we have NO IDEA how long we will be delayed,” they’re subtly trying to encourage you to get out of line and go experience another attraction because it’s likely going to be a while before the ride opens back up again. Of course, the most obvious sign that an attraction will be down awhile is if they empty the queue, which leaves you no choice but to exit and (hopefully) come back later. “Your Annual Pass is Blocked Out Today” This has happened to some of our reporters on their off days, or some of our team who comes in from other areas to visit for vacation. Every Annual Pass tier for Disney World except for the Incredi-Pass (which is the most expensive and the only one available to out-of-state passholders) has blockout dates that prevent passholders from getting into the parks that day. Annual Passholder Magnet The less expensive the pass, the more blockout dates your pass has. This means that if you don’t check the calendar and you have any pass that isn’t the Incredi-Pass, it’s possible you could arrive to the park and be told that you’re blocked from entering that day. So if you REALLY want to get into the parks, you’ll have to purchase a day ticket, which is likely the last thing you’d like to do. Disney World Annual Passholder Entrance And that’s why we encourage passholders to make their park pass reservations EARLY — days before you’re looking to go — just to be sure you won’t run into this issue! Sometimes we get Disney World changes that inconvenience us, and other times we come out with a win. ©Disney If you’ve visited Disney World lately, you might have noticed changes in everything from decor to crowd levels, and even new attractions. But, one recent change in particular has helped us sleep better at night while on vacation at Disney World. When coming to Disney World there’s one HUGE topic that’s on everyone’s minds — THE CROWDS. Better yet, we’re always looking at the best ways to avoid them and get to experience as much (or free up our schedules as much) as we want. When Disney World introduced Genie+ we thought that would put an end to that stress. Genie+ However, once Genie+ went live in the Disney World app, it seemed to unlock a new inconvenience for us we never saw coming. In order to purchase Genie+ for use the next day, you had to be up late (or early depending on your outlook on it), to snag it as soon as possible! This meant staying up to midnight (12AM) on the day you intended to use Genie+ in the parks to buy it at the first possibility, otherwise, you could risk it selling out! Park-specific Pricing It’s no secret that you’re plenty exhausted on your Disney World vacation with all there is to see, do, and eat, but now we threw a 12AM purchase into the mix along with making our first selections for rides attractions at 7AM — mere hours later. We could easily see how this interrupted visitors just trying to get a good night’s sleep and rest up for the next day ahead of them — and it went on to be one of the systems main complaints. However, we’ve entered a new era when Lightning Lane Multi Pass was introduced! Lightning Lane changes are HERE! This revised version of the system allows Disney World hotel guests the convenience of booking Lightning Lanes in advance of their reservation — up to 7 days ahead and even if you’re not a hotel guest, you can still purchase AND book Lightning Lane Multi Pass AND Lightning Lane Single Passes at 3 days in advance. ©Disney So far in our experience, this is a much easier compromise than having to set an alarm at midnight to remind you to make a purchase when you’re already dazed from a full day walking around the parks. We’re hoping the pros for this new version of the paid Lightning Lane system continues to make users and park visitors feel more at ease with making these selections well in advance for their day’s plans and keeps them from feeling so constrained. We’re always keeping up with the latest updates, changes, and news happening around Disney World’s parks and hotels. Be sure to stay tuned with us at Disney Food Blog for more! This past weekend was one of Disney’s biggest events of the year! D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event just wrapped up, and we got a LOT of news over the weekend. Disney shared details about upcoming movies, major theme park projects, and plans for the future of Disney Cruise Line. We also got to see 14 new Disney Legends inducted! But beyond all that, we checked out some special exhibits with teasers about what’s to come for Disney in the future. #af-form-501507268 .af-body{font-family:Helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:16px;color:inherit;background-image:none;background-position:inherit;background-repeat:no-repeat;padding-top:15px;padding-bottom:15px;} #af-form-501507268 {border-style:none;border-width:1px;border-color:#454545;background-color:#FFFFFF;} #af-form-501507268 .af-standards .af-element{padding-left:60px;padding-right:60px;} #af-form-501507268 .af-quirksMode{padding-left:60px;padding-right:60px;} #af-form-501507268 .af-header{font-family:Helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:18px;color:inherit;border-top-style:none;border-right-style:none;border-bottom-style:none;border-left-style:none;border-width:1px;border-color:#FFFFFF;background-image:none;background-position:inherit;background-repeat:no-repeat;background-color:#CFCB4B;padding-left:10px;padding-right:10px;padding-top:9px;padding-bottom:9px;} #af-form-501507268 .af-footer{font-family:Helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:12px;color:inherit;border-top-style:none;border-right-style:none;border-bottom-style:none;border-left-style:none;border-width:1px;background-image:none;background-position:top left;background-repeat:no-repeat;background-color:#FFFFFF;padding-left:16px;padding-right:16px;padding-top:0px;padding-bottom:0px;} #af-form-501507268 .af-body input.text, #af-form-501507268 .af-body textarea{border-color:#454545;border-width:1px;border-style:solid;font-family:Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;font-size:24px;font-weight:normal;font-style:normal;text-decoration:none;color:#454545;background-color:#FFFFFF;} #af-form-501507268 .af-body input.text:focus, #af-form-501507268 .af-body textarea:focus{border-style:solid;border-width:1px;border-color:#454545;background-color:#FFFFFF;} #af-form-501507268 .af-body label.previewLabel{font-family:Helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:18px;font-weight:normal;font-style:normal;text-decoration:none;color:#454545;display:block;float:none;text-align:left;width:auto;} #af-form-501507268 .af-body .af-textWrap{width:98%;display:block;float:none;} #af-form-501507268 .buttonContainer input.submit{font-family:Helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:18px;font-weight:normal;font-style:normal;text-decoration:none;color:#FFFFFF;background-color:#1CA7BF;background-image:none;} #af-form-501507268 .buttonContainer{text-align:right;} #af-form-501507268 .af-body label.choice{font-family:inherit;font-size:inherit;font-weight:normal;font-style:normal;text-decoration:none;color:#454545;} #af-form-501507268 .af-body a{font-weight:normal;font-style:normal;text-decoration:none;color:#454545;} #af-form-501507268, #af-form-501507268 .quirksMode{width:100%;max-width:418.0px;} #af-form-501507268.af-quirksMode{overflow-x:hidden;} #af-form-501507268 .af-quirksMode .bodyText{padding-top:2px;padding-bottom:2px;} #af-form-501507268{overflow:hidden;} #af-form-501507268 button,#af-form-501507268 input,#af-form-501507268 submit,#af-form-501507268 textarea,#af-form-501507268 select,#af-form-501507268 label,#af-form-501507268 optgroup,#af-form-501507268 option {float:none;margin:0;position:static;} #af-form-501507268 select,#af-form-501507268 label,#af-form-501507268 optgroup,#af-form-501507268 option {padding:0;} #af-form-501507268 input,#af-form-501507268 button,#af-form-501507268 textarea,#af-form-501507268 select {font-size:100%;} #af-form-501507268 .buttonContainer input.submit {width:auto;} #af-form-501507268 form,#af-form-501507268 textarea,.af-form-wrapper,.af-form-close-button,#af-form-501507268 img {float:none;color:inherit;margin:0;padding:0;position:static;background-color:none;border:none;} #af-form-501507268 div {margin:0;} #af-form-501507268 {display:block;} #af-form-501507268 body,#af-form-501507268 dl,#af-form-501507268 dt,#af-form-501507268 dd,#af-form-501507268 h1,#af-form-501507268 h2,#af-form-501507268 h3,#af-form-501507268 h4,#af-form-501507268 h5,#af-form-501507268 h6,#af-form-501507268 pre,#af-form-501507268 code,#af-form-501507268 fieldset,#af-form-501507268 legend,#af-form-501507268 blockquote,#af-form-501507268 th,#af-form-501507268 td { float:none;color:inherit;margin:0;padding:0;position:static;} #af-form-501507268 p { color:inherit;} #af-form-501507268 ul,#af-form-501507268 ol {list-style-image:none;list-style-position:outside;list-style-type:disc;padding-left:40px;} #af-form-501507268 .bodyText p {margin:1em 0;} #af-form-501507268 table {border-collapse:collapse;border-spacing:0;} #af-form-501507268 fieldset {border:0;} .af-clear{clear:both;} .af-form{box-sizing:border-box; Name: Email: One of the exhibits we visited was a showcase of Disney Vacation Club properties, and on display was some NEW concept art for the upcoming Island Tower at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort. We’ve been watching the construction of this project for a while, but now we’ve got a closer look at what we can expect when it’s completed! The concept art display The concept art and promotional photos show off quite a few areas of the resort that may be of interest to you! First up, there’s a Moana-themed splash pad in the pool area. It’s made to look like Moana’s boat! Moana splash pad During a recent visit to the construction site, we actually spotted what appears to be the sail for the splash pad. They’re getting ready! Is that what we think it is?! Another photo that caught our eye was this concept art of what looks to be a restaurant. It has a very aquatic, beachy vibe with fish “swimming” along the ceiling and decor that reminds us of seaweed. Massive windows show a view to the outside of the resort. Restaurant It looks like the restaurant may have some outdoor seating as well. There’s an alternate view with tables outdoors underneath a covered patio. The “infinity” fountains really add to that tropical look. Outdoor seating If you look at the bottom of the building when visiting the construction site, the windows along the ground look very similar to the restaurant setup. They would have a great view of the water! The windows at the bottom look like they could be the restaurant! Among the common spaces featured in the concept art, we spotted a photo that looks like a lobby or open lounging area. There’s a multi-story room with a variety of seating, as well as some water features and interesting lighting. Another piece of concept art As to where this area could be located, we spotted a section of the building with a multi-story window display. Could this be the new lobby? The lobby? Of course, we also got some concept art featuring the rooms in the new tower. One picture looks to show one of the larger villas, with a mother and son cooking in the kitchen. Inside the rooms Another photo shows off what appears to be a smaller room, this time featuring a seating area with a Murphy bed. Inside a room And of course, Disney had exterior concept art on display as well. This is the view of the hotel from the outside! It looks like there will be lounging spaces outdoors where guests can relax and unwind. The exterior concept art These new rooms will open on December 17th of this year, and we can’t wait to see them in person. Joe Rohde is officially a Disney Legend. ©Disney As part of the D23 Ultimate Fan Event in August of 2024, Disney inducted its latest class of Legends. Among Hollywood heavyweights like Harrison Ford, Jamie Lee Curtis, James L. Brooks, and composer John Williams, Disney Imagineering icon Joe Rohde officially took his rightful place amongst the Disney pantheon. Joe Rohde’s Disney career lasted from 1980 through January of 2021, and saw the designer spearhead countless Disney projects including Guardians of the Galaxy: Mission Breakout, Pandora: The World of Avatar, the Aulani resort in Hawaii, and arguably most importantly of all: Disney’s Animal Kingdom theme park from its conception. However, to a generation of Disney fans, there’s something else very recognizable about Rohde. “The earring is a celebrity and I am the friend of the celebrity. I travel with the earring and people see the earring and they’re ere like ‘Oh, that’s that famous guy. Who’s this person with him?’ I started in 1987, cause I was going to go on a business trip to Japan and I had one of those little tiny posts from the 1980s, and my boss from the model shop had said ‘You know, you kinda don’t look like a Disney employee’ cause of the long hair and etc. ‘so maybe you shouldn’t wear any Disney ID while you’re in Japan?’ And I thought ‘That’s not fair, I’ve been working for this company for 7 years’ so I took my Disney 5-Year Pin, which is a lapel pin, and I stuck it through that little tiny hole in my ear, which made the hole bigger and started a cascade of other decisions. Basically, when I go someplace I’ve never been before, a country, I look for a hoop-shaped earring — usually ethnic or tribal or something but nowadays anything — and it goes in my ear. Now of course, I have a bowl of them at home. This (gestures to ear) is the travel pack.” The iconic earring The day after the Disney Legends ceremony, Rohde took to his Instagram account to speak more seriously about the honoring, captioning a collection of videos from the event with the following: “First of all, as much as it’s an honor to become a Disney Legend, it’s a huge honor to be introduced by Jane Goodall!!! She has been an inspiration to me since I was a kid! I kept my promise to be brief, but there is so much to say. We each have something to contribute to the betterment of the world. If Janes’s introduction means anything it is that you should not assume that you cannot contribute. After all, I am a theme park designer, of all things. Thank you to everyone who made this career possible, But mostly thank you to all those nice people and their happy applause for a shy bookish kid from a scruffy neighborhood. (For all the folks in Hawaii, I did wear my leihulu.)” ©Disney Joe Rohde is one of the most important Imagineers in the history of the Walt Disney Company, and it’s very fitting that he — and his iconic earring — have been officially enshrined as a Disney Legend. Something wicked this comes comes. NEW VILLAINS LAND This past weekend at the D23 Ultimate Fan Event, Disney released a slew of information about upcoming theme park projects including a new Cars area coming to Magic Kingdom, new Marvel and Avatar experiences at the Disneyland Resort, and Monster’s Inc. at Hollywood Studios. However, for longtime Disney Parks fans, there was arguably nothing more exciting than Villains Land. Rumors of a Disney Villains-themed land coming to the Magic Kingdom have been a mainstay of the Disney fan community for decades, with alleged plans dating back to the 1990s. That long wait made it a dream — or perhaps a nightmare is more appropriate — come true for fans when the land was FINALLY announced at D23. During the announcement, Josh D’Amaro said of the land, “Be prepared, you poor unfortunate souls, it’s going to be a fearless new vision for what a Disney experience can be.” Older Villains Land Now, days after the D23 announcement, Disney has confirmed further details about the highly-anticipated land, including its location. According to the Disney, “guests will be able to venture Beyond Big Thunder Mountain into an all-new land dedicated to Disney Villains. Inspired by the wicked characters fans know and loathe, the multi-acre expansion will include two major attractions, plus dining and shopping. Walt Disney Imagineering is pushing creative boundaries to dark and mysterious levels to bring this new, first-of-its-kind land to life.” That’s right — it’ll be past Big Thunder Mountain Railroad! Villains Land Concept Art ©Disney The land “will encompass all your dreams- er, nightmares. The space will be home to two major attractions, dining, and shopping on an incredibly twisted grand scale… You might have just felt a shiver run down your spine. That’s because preparation is already underway at Magic Kingdom for this new land. Maybe think twice before you indulge in that next shiny red apple…” This massive new Villain-themed land, combined with the also-announced Cars expansion coming to the Magic Kingdom’s Frontierland, is the largest expansion in the history of Disney World’s original theme park. ©Disney After literal decades of waiting, Villains Land is FINALLY coming to the Magic Kingdom, and now we know exactly where this bastion of evil will be located! Stay tuned to DFB for further updates on the massive changes coming to the Magic Kingdom. It has been a HUGE weekend of announcements and we got a sneak peek at so many new attractions that will be coming to Disney World in the next few years during D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event. Cinderella Castle We learned more about Pablo Esperanza which will be replacing DinoLand U.S.A. in Disney’s Animal Kingdom, as well as found out about a Monsters, Inc. land coming to Disney’s Hollywood Studios. Magic Kingdom also got some big news with BOTH a Villains land and a Cars land announced for the park. There have been some discussions on where these new lands will be going in Magic Kingdom, and we just got some confirmation on where they will be located. Disney offically announced where the Cars land will be located in Magic Kingdom! ©Disney The Rivers of America and Tom Sawyer Island will be transformed into this brand-new land coming to the park. That means that Cars land will be located in Frontierland and as Disney wrote will, “put our guests in the driver’s seat as we—quite literally—explore a new frontier in Frontierland.” Cars is coming to Magic Kingdom! ©Disney This new expansion in Magic Kingdom will include the addition of two Cars attractions. The first one will have you racing through the mountains and along wild terrains, all while trying to dodge geysers and splashing through mud holes. While the second attraction will be more family-friendly and geared for smaller racers. ©Disney We took a look at the current Magic Kingdom map and based on Disney’s announcement and the concept art, the red line here indicates where we expect the new Cars area to be. Map of where the new Cars area will be We also dug into the concept art a bit. If you zoom in, this appears to be the current Liberty Square Riverboat building. At least it looks like it to us! What do you think? Concept Art Construction on this new area is expected to begin in early 2025, so if you are hoping to explore Tom Sawyer Island one last time or enjoy a trip on The Rivers of America, you better hurry! New Details Revealed for Largest Expansion at Magic Kingdom
Disney4me posted a topic in Disney Blogs
This past weekend at D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event, Disney Experiences Chairman Josh D’Amaro revealed exciting new details about what’s coming to Walt Disney World. In addition to getting up close and personal with monsters and villains, soon you’ll be able to explore the uncharted territory of the great outdoors with an expansion in Frontierland themed around Pixar Animation Studios’ “Cars.” It’s time to leave Radiator Springs and head west into exciting new locations. To make way for this completely new frontier, the Rivers of America and Tom Sawyer Island will be transformed into vast and rugged terrains for a rally race with some of the world’s most iconic racers. “We are thrilled to create this original Cars adventure and put our guests in the driver’s seat as we—quite literally—explore a new frontier in Frontierland,” shared Michael Hundgen, Walt Disney World Portfolio Executive Producer at Walt Disney Imagineering. “Part of pioneering this new story includes tapping into the themes of exploration and adventure that inspire so many of us to keep propelling forward. Anytime we touch Magic Kingdom, we recognize the massive responsibility that exists to get it right and tell stories that connect with our guests.” The new area will bring you along for the ride (pun intended) with a brand-new thrilling rally race through the mountains, climbing trails, and dodging geysers, in addition to a second attraction geared towards fun for the whole family. Ahead of work revving into high gear next year, guests will have plenty of time to experience the charm and nostalgia of Frontierland as it is today. And cruising just around the bend, guests will be able to venture Beyond Big Thunder Mountain into an all-new land dedicated to Disney Villains. Inspired by the wicked characters fans know and loathe, the multi-acre expansion will include two major attractions, plus dining and shopping. Walt Disney Imagineering is pushing creative boundaries to dark and mysterious levels to bring this new, first-of-its-kind land to life. Together, these new additions to Magic Kingdom will represent the largest expansion in park history. But that’s not all happening at The Most Magical Place on Earth. During Horizons: Disney Experiences Showcase, Josh revealed additional attractions and enhancements coming soon to Disney World. Monsters, Inc. Land – It’s laughter they’re after when a new space dedicated to Sulley, Mike, and all the other scarers jokesters arrive at Hollywood Studios. Reimagined Test Track presented by Chevrolet – Racing into EPCOT in 2025, the attraction will open celebrating the past, present, and future of automation. Tropical Americas — Get ready to explore a new corner of Disney’s Animal Kingdom when two new attractions open, themed around Indiana Jones and Walt Disney Animation Studios’ “Encanto.” Zootopia: Better Zoogether — Join Judy Hopps and Nick Wilde next winter in a new show at the Tree of Life Theater. New Nighttime Parade – Coming in 2025 to Main Street, U.S.A., Magic Kingdom will premiere a brand new nighttime spectacular! New Missions coming to Millennium Falcon: Smuggler’s Run — Blast off with Mando and Grogu when a new adventure featuring this duo arrives in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge. Two New Lounge Spaces — Coming in 2025, a new Pirates Lounge and Spaceship Earth lounge will open in Magic Kingdom and EPCOT, respectively. With so many exciting announcements shared during Horizons: Disney Experiences Showcase, Disney Imagineers couldn’t miss an opportunity to give our biggest fans a closer look at what we’re working on. This morning, guests attending D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event can visit the show floor to see new additions to the Imagineering: Behind The Dreams pavilion. Here’s a look at some of the most anticipated projects in development. Welcome to Pueblo Esperanza A new adventure awaits at Pueblo Esperanza at Disney’s Animal Kingdom with a new addition themed around Tropical Americas, the area just north and south of the equator in the Western Hemisphere — from the northern part of South America stretching up into Central America. This exciting location gives Imagineers so much to play with when bringing timeless stories to life, like Indiana Jones exploring a recently excavated, ancient Maya temple or magical Casita of the Madrigal family from Walt Disney Animation Studios Oscar award-winning film “Encanto.” Imagineers created a model of Casita, including a magical candle and nods to the home’s vibrant personality with fluttering shutters. To ensure the authenticity of the Tropical Americas, Imagineers conducted numerous research trips, drawing inspiration from various places, including Mexico’s Yucatán Peninsula, to authentically reflect the region’s people, architecture, and more. Their efforts are reflected in a stunning model of the land, featuring a large fountain in the center where the villagers like to gather and tell stories. The model even features a special lighting effect around the fountain! Additionally, a woodcarver has created a giant working carousel featuring his favorite animals from Disney stories like Kevin from the Pixar Animation Studios film “Up,” who’s displayed showcasing the woodcarver’s expert craftmanship. It’s a new take on a classic attraction that young families are going to love! First Suspended Coaster in a Disney park During D23 Event 2024, Josh D’Amaro revealed plans to build a Monsters, Inc.-inspired area, including an attraction that lets you take a look inside the factory from the Pixar film. To ideate the layout of the attraction, the project team created a study model of the attraction, enabling them to fine-tune every detail. If you’ve ever dreamed of riding through the door vault, as Sulley and Mike did in the film, this is what you’ve been waiting for! As the first suspended coaster in a Disney park, this attraction will put you right in the middle of the action and have you roaring with laughter. Ideating New “Avatar” Experiences We’re venturing further into Pandora with a new destination at Disney California Adventure. Within the pavilion, Imagineers have created a “working desk” display, showcasing the inspiration and creative tools the project team is using to brainstorm future developments. Bringing the Pride Lands to Disneyland Paris Guests at Disneyland Paris will get to experience the classic Walt Disney Animation Studios film “The Lion King” unlike ever before! Dedicated to the characters and stories from the film, Pride Lands, a new park area in Disney Adventure World will include themed dining, shopping, and the opportunity to meet some favorite characters, along with a new attraction. Imagineers have created a model that beautifully showcases both the area’s development and the new attraction. The level of detail in this model is truly breathtaking! Eagle-eyed fans may notice some familiar markings on rocks throughout the model. These new additions to “Imagineering: Behind the Dreams” are just a glimpse of the work Imagineers are doing! As Disney Experiences Chairman Josh D’Amaro said, “At Disney Experiences, Imagineers dream, create, design and build these stories into real places. And we have Imagineers in place right now all around the world because everything we’re going to share with you is in active development. Plans are drawn. Dirt is moving. I just want to be clear about this: We are doing everything you’re going to hear tonight.” The future is bright for Disney Experiences! Follow along every step of the way on the Disney Parks Blog and get a behind-the-scenes peek at what we’re dreaming up by following Imagineering on Instagram. We can’t wait to share more with you! Every week, we report the average Disney World wait times in every park so that you can be prepared for your next trip to Orlando! Last week saw an interesting pattern develop, and we need to talk about it. Hollywood Studios Disney World had a bit of a bizzare week, as far as wait times go. Most were generally up at the resort, especially at EPCOT, but the Magic Kingdom saw some bizarre fluctuations. Is this an effect of the new Lighting Lane Multi Pass system? Possibly. Take a look at this week’s average wait times — going from highest to lowest! Magic Kingdom Wait Times The Magic Kingdom park had a strange week overall as far as wait times go, perhaps best exemplified by the fact that the wait for Dumbo nearly doubled, while that for the Enchanted Tiki Room was cut nearly in half. (REMINDER: Tron Lightcycle / Run does not currently use a standby queue; it’s not included here, and Tiana’s Bayou Adventure does not have a standby queue yet.) In fact every ride in the park except Living with the Land had a wait over 10 minutes. I Was Today Years Old When I Learned This Upsetting Fact About EPCOT Animal Kingdom Wait Times Animal Kingdom’s Flight of Passage remains the busiest ride at the park (and resort overall), but saw its wait time drop slightly this week. However, the rest of the park made up for it, as wait times jumped across the board everywhere else. We’ve got a case of the Disney Treasure on the brain! ©Disney And it makes sense because this brand-new ship coming to the Disney Cruise Line fleet has so many new things for us to experience, like the Aristocats-themed lounge and Haunted Mansion Parlor. We’re just beside ourselves with all the excitement. But before we get too far ahead, and since we’re talking about these lounges and the food they’re going to have there, it got us thinking about another experience that’s unique to the Disney Cruise Line — rotational dining. Let’s talk about it and see if you should skip it or not! First things first, let’s break down what rotational dining is all about. What is Rotational Dining? On the Disney Treasure (and the other ships in the Disney Cruise Line fleet), rotational dining means that each night of your cruise, you’ll rotate through three distinct, themed restaurants. What’s even cooler is that your servers rotate with you, which means you’ll get consistent, personalized service throughout your trip. The rotational dining restaurants on board the Treasure will be Plaza de Coco, Worlds of Marvel, and 1923. ©Disney Pros of Rotational Dining Variety. It Keeps Your Life Spicy! In our opinion, one of the biggest perks of rotational dining is the variety. So, instead of having to stick to one dining spot for the whole cruise, you get to experience three unique environments, each with its own vibe and menu. This means you won’t get bored with having the same dining options for the whole cruise. Consistent Service. Having the same servers each night really can be a game-changer. Disney servers are already amazing but when they’re with you each night, they get to know your preferences, dietary restrictions, and even your kids’ names. This personal touch can make your dining experience feel extra special and hassle-free. Themed Dining Experience. As we mentioned earlier, each restaurant has its own vibe which makes it more than just a meal. It’s an experience. As you can imagine, the themes and decor are meticulously crafted to immerse you in all that Disney magic which makes dinner an event to look forward to. Kid-Friendly Fun. If you’re cruising with your little ones, you might find that rotational dining is a hit. The themes and interactive elements will keep the kids entertained, and there are kid-friendly menu options so even the pickiest eaters will find something they love. ©Disney Cons of Rotational Dining Set Dining Times. You’ll need to choose between early or late seating, which might not always align with your family’s natural dining rhythm. Also, if you’re enjoying a port day and get back late, it can be quite stressful rushing to make your dinner time. Limited Flexibility. While the variety is great, you might find that you want to have a repeat visit to your new favorite restaurant, but since the rotation schedule is fixed, spontaneous cravings or special requests can be tricky to accommodate. Crowded Dining Rooms. Rotational dining is definitely popular, which means the dining rooms can get crowded, so if you’re not a fan of noisy and bustling environments, this could be a dealbreaker. To be fair, Disney does a good job of managing the crowds, but it’s something to keep in mind. ©Disney So, Should You Skip It? Well, it depends. On one hand rotational dining on the Disney Treasure is a quintessential part of the Disney Cruise Line experience. It’ll give you variety, entertainment, and top-notch service. If you’re all about experiencing everything Disney has to offer, it’s definitely worth trying. However, if you’re someone who values flexibility, prefers quieter dining settings, or just wants to avoid set schedules, you might want to consider skipping it. In this scenario, the good news is that Disney Treasure will offer a number of alternative dining options, from quick-service spots to adult-only restaurants where you can enjoy a more tranquil meal. ©Disney At the end of the day, whether you choose rotational dining or not, the Disney Treasure will have something for you. It’s all about finding what works best for you and your travel companions. ©Disney As always, if you’re looking to book a sailing, we recommend doing so as soon as possible and it doesn’t hurt booking out as far as you can as well. Now, today, August 11th, we’re getting a first look at all the models for each of the major announcements that were made last night! #af-form-501507268 .af-body{font-family:Helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:16px;color:inherit;background-image:none;background-position:inherit;background-repeat:no-repeat;padding-top:15px;padding-bottom:15px;} #af-form-501507268 {border-style:none;border-width:1px;border-color:#454545;background-color:#FFFFFF;} #af-form-501507268 .af-standards .af-element{padding-left:60px;padding-right:60px;} #af-form-501507268 .af-quirksMode{padding-left:60px;padding-right:60px;} #af-form-501507268 .af-header{font-family:Helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:18px;color:inherit;border-top-style:none;border-right-style:none;border-bottom-style:none;border-left-style:none;border-width:1px;border-color:#FFFFFF;background-image:none;background-position:inherit;background-repeat:no-repeat;background-color:#CFCB4B;padding-left:10px;padding-right:10px;padding-top:9px;padding-bottom:9px;} #af-form-501507268 .af-footer{font-family:Helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:12px;color:inherit;border-top-style:none;border-right-style:none;border-bottom-style:none;border-left-style:none;border-width:1px;background-image:none;background-position:top left;background-repeat:no-repeat;background-color:#FFFFFF;padding-left:16px;padding-right:16px;padding-top:0px;padding-bottom:0px;} #af-form-501507268 .af-body input.text, #af-form-501507268 .af-body textarea{border-color:#454545;border-width:1px;border-style:solid;font-family:Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;font-size:24px;font-weight:normal;font-style:normal;text-decoration:none;color:#454545;background-color:#FFFFFF;} #af-form-501507268 .af-body input.text:focus, #af-form-501507268 .af-body textarea:focus{border-style:solid;border-width:1px;border-color:#454545;background-color:#FFFFFF;} #af-form-501507268 .af-body label.previewLabel{font-family:Helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:18px;font-weight:normal;font-style:normal;text-decoration:none;color:#454545;display:block;float:none;text-align:left;width:auto;} #af-form-501507268 .af-body .af-textWrap{width:98%;display:block;float:none;} #af-form-501507268 .buttonContainer input.submit{font-family:Helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:18px;font-weight:normal;font-style:normal;text-decoration:none;color:#FFFFFF;background-color:#1CA7BF;background-image:none;} #af-form-501507268 .buttonContainer{text-align:right;} #af-form-501507268 .af-body label.choice{font-family:inherit;font-size:inherit;font-weight:normal;font-style:normal;text-decoration:none;color:#454545;} #af-form-501507268 .af-body a{font-weight:normal;font-style:normal;text-decoration:none;color:#454545;} #af-form-501507268, #af-form-501507268 .quirksMode{width:100%;max-width:418.0px;} #af-form-501507268.af-quirksMode{overflow-x:hidden;} #af-form-501507268 .af-quirksMode .bodyText{padding-top:2px;padding-bottom:2px;} #af-form-501507268{overflow:hidden;} #af-form-501507268 button,#af-form-501507268 input,#af-form-501507268 submit,#af-form-501507268 textarea,#af-form-501507268 select,#af-form-501507268 label,#af-form-501507268 optgroup,#af-form-501507268 option {float:none;margin:0;position:static;} #af-form-501507268 select,#af-form-501507268 label,#af-form-501507268 optgroup,#af-form-501507268 option {padding:0;} #af-form-501507268 input,#af-form-501507268 button,#af-form-501507268 textarea,#af-form-501507268 select {font-size:100%;} #af-form-501507268 .buttonContainer input.submit {width:auto;} #af-form-501507268 form,#af-form-501507268 textarea,.af-form-wrapper,.af-form-close-button,#af-form-501507268 img {float:none;color:inherit;margin:0;padding:0;position:static;background-color:none;border:none;} #af-form-501507268 div {margin:0;} #af-form-501507268 {display:block;} #af-form-501507268 body,#af-form-501507268 dl,#af-form-501507268 dt,#af-form-501507268 dd,#af-form-501507268 h1,#af-form-501507268 h2,#af-form-501507268 h3,#af-form-501507268 h4,#af-form-501507268 h5,#af-form-501507268 h6,#af-form-501507268 pre,#af-form-501507268 code,#af-form-501507268 fieldset,#af-form-501507268 legend,#af-form-501507268 blockquote,#af-form-501507268 th,#af-form-501507268 td { float:none;color:inherit;margin:0;padding:0;position:static;} #af-form-501507268 p { color:inherit;} #af-form-501507268 ul,#af-form-501507268 ol {list-style-image:none;list-style-position:outside;list-style-type:disc;padding-left:40px;} #af-form-501507268 .bodyText p {margin:1em 0;} #af-form-501507268 table {border-collapse:collapse;border-spacing:0;} #af-form-501507268 fieldset {border:0;} .af-clear{clear:both;} .af-form{box-sizing:border-box;
