  1. Some BIG changes are coming to Disney World, and we’re not sure we’re ready for them (okay, we ARE, but we aren’t, if you know what we mean). Disney’s Animal Kingdom Magic Kingdom is getting the biggest expansion EVER with a new Cars-themed area in Frontierland AND a Villains-themed land (and WE ARE SO READY TO BE BAD WITH OUR FAVORITE DISNEY BADDIES). In Hollywood Studios, a new Monsters, Inc. land will be under construction soon. And in Animal Kingdom, Dinoland, U.S.A. is about to change FOREVER (okay, it’s actually going away) to become Pueblo Esperanza, a new Tropical Americas-themed land. Ahead of that transformation, a BIG change is coming to Animal Kingdom soon. So Dinoland, U.S.A. is going to have to close to make way for Pueblo Esperanza. However, it will be closing in phases, meaning not ALL of Dinoland will be closed at the same time. But if you’re visiting Disney World in January 2025, the first phase of construction will begin, and you’ll notice that parts of Dinoland will be closed…forever. DinoLand, U.S.A. Disney previously announced that the following parts of Dinoland will be closing as of January 13th, 2025: TriceraTop Spin, Fossil Fun Games, and Chester & Hester’s Dinosaur Treasures (NOOOO…we love that gift shop). So, if you’re visiting Animal Kingdom on that date or later, those parts of Dinoland will be behind construction walls to be converted into something new. Chester and Hester’s For the time being, you’ll still be able to enjoy Dinosaur, the Boneyard, Restaurantosaurus, Dino-Bite Snacks, and Trilo-Bites. Disney previously said it’s trying to give folks a last chance to “go get that dino” on Dinosaur, so it could be one of the last parts of Dinoland to close (we hope!!). DINOSAUR Pueblo Esperanza will have a Tropical Americas theme and will bring three new rides to Animal Kingdom, including a carousel, a brand-NEW Indiana Jones-themed ride, AND a ride that will take you inside the Casita from Encanto. 2. It’s time to “treat your elf” because the holidays are coming to Disneyland Resort! Starting Nov. 15, 2024, through Jan. 6, 2025, the resort will be kicking off the most wonderful time of the year – and that means plenty of treats and eats to get you in the spirit. The culinary teams have made a list and checked it twice to put together a festive foodie selection for you this year. There’s snow much to enjoy this year, a sleigh-worth in fact. From fan (and elf) favorites, like the Candy Cane Sourdough Bread, to plenty of new yuletide bites, like the Santa Baymax Macaron and Alien Reindeer Macaron, your taste buds will be walking in a winter wonderland. 5. Now that Halloween has officially come and gone…it’s the most wonderful time of the year! EPCOT Festival of the Holidays Now that we’re seeing the holiday decorations go up all around Disney World, I think we’re all stoked to experience the holiday season at Disney World! Basically we’re just counting down the days until the beginning of holiday festivities like the EPCOT Festival of the Holidays! Speaking of the party, as much as I adore it, there’s a massive problem that nobody seems to be talking about, and it’s seriously putting a damper on an otherwise magical experience. Just for context, the 2024 EPCOT International Festival of the Holidays runs from November 29th through December 30th and is chock-full of holiday entertainment, merchandise, and food! But as we were saying, this festival has a glaring problem that no one is talking about, so let’s have a chat about it! Festival of the Holidays The problem we’re talking about is the fact that we can’t read those festival menus at night! For example if you’re wandering around the World Showcase and you’re ready to sample some cozy seasonal bites, once the sun goes down, the Festival of the Holidays food booth menus become almost impossible to see. 2023 Las Posadas Holiday Kitchen Menu There you are, hungry and ready to splurge on something festive, yet holding up the line as you squint or reach for your phone flashlight just to figure out if they’re serving up schnitzel or sushi at the booth in front of you. Where Did This Go Wrong? The EPCOT festivals really are known for their immersive experiences, great food, and generally smooth execution, so it’s genuinely surprising that menu lighting has been overlooked here. 2023 Refreshment Outpost Menu It’s not like lighting issues haven’t been solved before. Plenty of festivals, parks, and even food trucks manage to make their signage clear and readable, day or night. So why is it that at the EPCOT Festival of the Holidays we still can’t read the dark menus after all these years? It’s Time to Light Up These Menus! I mean it’s not like adding proper lighting to the festival menus is a revolutionary idea, and honestly, it seems like it would be a relatively simple fix. Here are just a few lighting solutions that could take our Festival of the Holidays from night-blind to nighttime-friendly: Menu Backlights: Backlit menus are already used all over Disney World, so EPCOT could easily follow suit here. A little LED backlighting behind the menus would be enough to make them readable without creating light pollution or ruining the cozy, ambient vibe. Mini Spotlights: Picture tiny, focused spotlights placed right above or below each menu. They’re sleek, effective, and would be easy for guests to read at night. Portable Illuminated Menu Stands: If permanent lighting is a big ask, another option could be to bring out illuminated menu stands at dusk. Simple, portable stands with lighted menus that could be positioned by each booth at night, which would help guests easily see the options without compromising the cozy aesthetics. Digital Screens: We know Disney has fully embraced digital boards, so why not consider screens for the Festival of the Holidays? These could even feature rotating images or descriptions, which could add some extra holiday flair! So Disney, if you’re reading this, here’s my plea: Please give us some menu lights! The Festival of the Holidays should be all about savoring festive foods, not struggling to read them. Let’s brighten up these booths, literally, and make every guest’s experience a bit more merry and bright. 2023 Wine & Wedge Menu Until then, we’ll be on the lookout for the latest holiday news from Disney World and more, so make sure you stay tuned to the Disney Food Blog for more updates! If something goes awry on your vacation, chances are a Cast Member will be able to sprinkle a little bit of pixie dust and make all your problems disappear. Cinderella Castle But, even though Disney World’s customer service is legendary, it still isn’t the best in the country according to a new survey! So, who took the top spot?! A new study has been released that ranked over 700 brands based on their customer service ratings. Newsweek has compiled America’s Best Customer Service 2025 list with help from global data research firm Statista, and while you might think that Disney took the top spot — you would be wrong. Magic Kingdom The evaluation is based on the quality of communication, professional competence, range of services, customer focus, and accessibility, and was taken from an independent survey of more than 28,000 customers in the United States. So, how did Disney and other theme parks do? Take a look below! ©Newsweek Among the Amusement Park Experiences category, Disney Parks & Resorts actually placed second, with a score of 92.49 out of 100. Coming in first place with a score of 93.22 out of 100 was Dollywood in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee! ©Dollywood SeaWorld Parks came in third place with 92.2 points, followed by Busch Gardens Theme Parks in fourth with a score of 91.44, and Universal Parks & Resorts in fifth place with a score of 90.1 out of 100 points. It’s important to note that these are all still relatively high customer service scores overall. ©Dollywood This isn’t the first time Dollywood has beaten Disney for the top spot in a theme park survey. Earlier this year, Dollywood was named America’s Favorite Theme Park in the National Amusement Park Historical Association’s 38th annual survey. ©Dollywood Dollywood is a family amusement park created by country singer and icon Dolly Parton. Established in 1961 and nestled inside Pigeon Forge, Tennesse, the park — spanning over 150 acres — offers a mix of thrill rides, family-friendly attractions, live entertainment, and immersive experiences. One of its most notable rides is the new Big Bear Mountain roller coaster, which was awarded the best new attraction of 2023. In addition to rides, Dollywood showcases traditional crafts and artisans, reflecting the rich heritage of the Appalachian region. Visitors can watch demonstrations of blacksmithing, glassblowing, pottery making, and more. ©Dollywood If you haven’t made your way to Dollywood yet, it sounds like now might be the perfect time! 9. When you’re working on your Disney World trip plans, it can be a lot, right? EPCOT And some of the biggest decisions are around the budget. I mean, you’ve got to figure out how to get to Disney World, where you’re going to sleep, what you’re going to eat, and how you’re going to get back home, all on budget of course. Now, that actually got us thinking about the things that are 100% worth buying in Disney World, no matter the cost, so we reached out to you to get your thoughts. Well, we asked and you delivered! We reached out to our followers on Facebook to ask: “7 Things Disney Experts Say Are 100% Worth Buying, No Matter the Cost” We had quite a few people leave their opinions in the comments! What do you think? Now, let’s dive into some of your top responses! PhotoPass Our Disney World memories are priceless, and that’s why you shared how much you love Disney’s PhotoPass since they’re there to help you capture them all. To that point, our reader Dulcie shared, “We are a family of 3 and nobody gets left out. We have the best photo memories with our daughter from age 2 to 19! And even now she uses it on her DCP! I love getting random pics of her enjoying her program ” ©Disney Joanna added, “I love having pics of me and my family.” Chelsea added, “As a mom, the only photos I have with my kids are usually selfies. It’s great getting to look back on our Disney memories and being able to show the kids that mom was there too ” If capturing those in-the-moment smiles is high on your list, PhotoPass is a worthy investment. Lightning Lane If waiting in long lines isn’t your idea of fun, Lightning Lane is your fast pass to bliss. It allows you to skip the standby line for select attractions, and our readers are adamant it’s worth every penny. For example, Jill shared, “Lightning Lane for your FAVORITE attraction. Me = Guardians of the Galaxy.” Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind is included with EPCOT’s Lightning Lane Premier Pass Sid recommended, “Lightning Lane Multi Pass, if you want to do everything and not waste your day in long lines.” Barbie swears by it sharing, “Lighting Lanes, as my husband is not a Disney lover, so if we don’t need to stand in lines, the complaining is minimized.” Staying on Disney Property Sure, staying off-property can save a few bucks, but Disney experts agree that the magic of staying on Disney property is irreplaceable. Not only do you stay close to the action, but you also get early park access, immersive theming, and Disney-exclusive perks. All-Star Music Resort Pam shared, “Staying on property. Totally worth it.” And Dustin added, “Staying in a resort on Disney property.” There really is nothing like it. Park Hopper Now, if flexibility is key to your Disney World experience, the Park Hopper option is your new best friend. This add-on lets you jump between the Disney World parks on a whim (especially when you’re chasing those dining reservations!). LET’S HOP! Our reader Josh shared, “Park Hopper. I absolutely love the flexibility of being able to go anywhere, anytime on a whim, especially for dining reservations.” For anyone who likes to maximize their day, Park Hopper is a definite game-changer. Refillable Mugs Okay, this one’s for all the beverage lovers out there! Disney’s Refillable Mugs are a small but mighty investment that many of our readers swear by. These mugs give you unlimited refills at your resort hotel throughout your stay, and that makes them both a fun souvenir and a practical way to quench your thirst on those hot Disney days. Refillable Mug Our reader Gabrielle summed it up with a big “Refillable mugs ” because, honestly, who doesn’t love unlimited drinks? Character Dining We all feel meeting Mickey and friends is magical, but meeting them while enjoying a meal is truly like next-level Disney magic. Character Dining lets you skip the long meet-and-greet lines and enjoy quality time with beloved Disney characters at your table. Farmer Mickey! April, one of our readers, shared, “At least one character dining if you have kids who love the characters. The smiles and excitement they get is priceless.” For kids and kids-at-heart alike, character dining brings the fairytale to life and it can be worth every penny. Whatever Makes You Happy Maybe it’s Disney holiday decor, plushies, or that one souvenir you’ve had your eye on, but sometimes, the best Disney World investment is just going for whatever brings you joy. Halloween Mickey pumpkin light up bubble wand To that point, our reader Steve shared, “Whatever makes YOU happy! Favorites of ours are PhotoPass and we make it rain in the Christmas Store.” Sometimes treating yourself to those “must-have” items really can be the cherry on top of your magical day. 10. Music legend and iconic producer Quincy Jones has passed away at age 91, per the Associated Press. ©AP Jones’ publicist, Arnold Robinson, shared that the artist died Sunday night, November 3rd, 2024, surrounded by his family at his home in the Bel Air neighborhood of Los Angeles. Quincy Jones leaves behind an incredible legacy that ranges from producing historic albums to collaborating with Frank Sinatra, Ray Charles, and countless other recording artists. He was to receive an honorary Academy Award later this month. ©AP “Tonight, with full but broken hearts, we must share the news of our father and brother Quincy Jones’ passing,” the family said in a statement. “And although this is an incredible loss for our family, we celebrate the great life that he lived and know there will never be another like him.” Born in Chicago in 1933, Jones spent much of his youth on the streets before discovering a piano at his neighbor’s house and later taking up the trumpet. He won a scholarship to the Berklee College of Music in Boston but dropped out to go on tour as a backing musician. By his mid-20s, he was touring with a band of his own. ©AP Jones became one of the first Black executives to take Hollywood by storm, eventually creating a vast musical catalog that spans some of the most iconic moments of musical history. He remains the second-highest Grammy Award winner of all time, with 28 wins under his belt — including Album of the Year and Song of the Year. ©Disney He even contributed to Disney music history by co-producing the song “Another Part of Me” by Michael Jackson for the 1986 Disney film Captain EO, which was also a show at EPCOT for several years. In addition, Quincy Jones appeared in the 1999 animated film, Fantasia 2000, where he introduces the set piece for “Rhapsody in Blue” by George Gershwin. ©Disney Jones is survived by his daughters Rashida Jones, Jolie Jones Levine, Rachel Jones, Martina Jones, Kidada Jones, and Kenya Kinski-Jones; son Quincy Jones III; brother Richard Jones and sisters Theresa Frank and Margie Jay. 11. In my four years working for Disney Food Blog, I’ve been to a LOT of hard-ticketed events. 2022 Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party Some of those offerings were for work, while others were for fun (we DFB employees are die-hard Disney fans just like you guys!); some of them were in Disney World, while others were in Disneyland Resort (Disney Channel Nite was a BLAST, y’all). But the ones I’ve done the most are the Disney World holiday parties! I’ve been to all three of them at this point, and I’ve got some hot tips to share. In Disney World, there are currently three holiday season parties. First, Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party happens in Magic Kingdom each year from August to October. Then, when November kicks off, you get Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party in that park instead. But in 2023, Disney threw a curveball when they introduced Jollywood Nights at Hollywood Studios, also running in November and December. Jollywood Nights Map and Lanyard I’ve been to all three of these events, and during my many visits, I’ve learned some important lessons. Some of these tips may surprise you! Buy Those Tickets EARLY For starters, my first (and possibly most important) piece of advice is to buy your tickets EARLY. Tickets for the parties will usually go on sale a few weeks or months in advance of the first date, and I recommend you buy your tickets BEFORE the holiday season starts. Crowds before Very Merry Once the parties kick off and people see photos and videos from all the fun offerings, they’ll start getting enticed to visit and those tickets will sell FAST. Over the years, countless people have been scammed online because they’ve attempted to buy party tickets from strangers after their desired night sold out unexpectedly. Don’t be that person! Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party The ticket prices will likely be the same all season long — it’s not like Disney drops the prices closer to your travel date. So there’s really no advantage in waiting to purchase. Don’t Go on the First Night…Trust Me! My second piece of advice is one learned from many times experiencing it — don’t go on the first night of the event! Whether it’s MNSSHP, MVMCP, or Jollywood Nights, I recommend waiting until at least the second night of the party season to plan your visit. Why? Because all the people like me are there on the first night! Jollywood Nights It’s my job to cover as MUCH of the party as possible on the first night, and the same goes for many other bloggers and influencers. We’re there intending to see every show, eat every snack, and make the most of every second. That means that on the first night of the party if you’re a regular guest, you might have to stake out even longer to get a good parade or fireworks spot. Or, you might have to wait longer to get into an exclusive entertainment offering or character meet. During a regular party where there are fewer bloggers and influencers, you’ve got a better balance of guests — some people are just there to do rides with short wait times! But on the first night of the party, the balance is skewed, and that makes everything a bit more chaotic. On top of this, the first night of the party is when Disney is often working out the kinks. I’ve been to opening party nights where snacks weren’t ready or were prepared incorrectly, or where new shows and offerings weren’t fully worked out. After complaints at the first few nights of Jollywood Nights in 2023, Disney even made some changes to the event — adding more character meets and general offerings. Jollywood Nights 2023 So there are plenty of reasons why you don’t want to go on the first night. And if you stay at home that night, you’ll be able to check out our coverage and reviews here at DFB, and then you’ll have a better idea of what you’d like to do when it’s your turn to enjoy the party! Get Strict With Your Schedule, Seriously. When I go to the parties for work, we have a pre-planned schedule for each reporter. But when I go for fun? Well, I adopt the exact same tactic! It may sound a little unhinged, but if I’m paying to attend an event that’s only a few hours long, I want to get the most out of my time. Tower of Terror projections When it comes to these Halloween and Christmas parties, the schedule can be pretty tight. There are specific times throughout the night when things like parades, stage shows, and fireworks take place. And if you hope to see multiple forms of entertainment, you might miss out if you don’t plan your schedule in advance. Typically, you can find the showtime schedule in the My Disney Experience app starting shortly before the first party of the season. Jollywood Nights 2023 Outside of the entertainment offerings, there are also often special character meets, exclusive snacks, ride overlays, and more. How will you know when to fit those things in throughout the evening if you don’t have a schedule? Trust me, scheduling will make everything go smoother — there’s no time for indecision when you’ve only got a few hours in the park! Eat Beforehand One of my most surprising tips for these parties is to eat BEFORE the event starts. You may say — “but Lydia, isn’t there special party food available that I might want to try?” And yes, of course! But it’s good to go into the night with at least SOME food in your stomach in case things go wrong. Buffalo Chicken Springs Rolls Like I said above, I’ve been to parties where the snacks weren’t ready or ingredients were unavailable. I’ve also eaten plenty of party treats that didn’t meet my expectations taste-wise. If you run into any of those problems, you don’t want to be left starving until after midnight! Dulce de Leche Peanut Butter Funnel Cake Since these holiday parties end so late, it can be difficult to snag food afterward. Also, many of the in-park restaurants will close down during the party or will offer a pared-down menu. It’s better just to eat beforehand…just in case. Entertainment Is a MUST For me, the highlight of any of the holiday parties that Disney World offers is the entertainment. Things like the Boo to You Parade, Minnie’s Wonderful Christmastime Fireworks show, or Disney Holidays in Hollywood typically draw the biggest crowds and are usually exclusive to the party. (Except you can see some of the Very Merry Christmas Party entertainment during Christmas week in Magic Kingdom.) Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party To have full-scale shows put on exclusively for a party is a lot of work, and it’s something that many fans (myself included!) really appreciate that Disney does. The entertainment is part of what gives your party ticket value. Shows and fireworks and parades might not be for everyone, but if you enjoy those offerings, I encourage you not to miss out! Mayyyybe Skip the Rides This next tip comes with a big caveat. If you’ve been to Disney World multiple times before or you’re visiting for a few days with time left to go to each park, then I suggest you don’t use your party time to knock out rides. I know that the short wait times can be really tempting, but with the premium price you pay to attend the party, it’s a better value to spend time doing things you can ONLY do at the party. Tomorrowland Speedway during Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party The one big time where I waive this suggestion is when there are party-exclusive ride overlays. If you have the time to do those, they’re definitely a good use of your limited time, since they’ll be different than what you experience during your daytime visits! Dressing Up Is 100% Worth It Last but not least, I have to tell you that dressing up for the parties is 100% worth it! I’ve been to parties where I dressed up and some where I didn’t, and I usually had a more fun time when I was dressed for the theme — whether that was a Halloween costume, a pair of Christmas pajamas, or some retro holiday gear. @Marisharuthie Now, the important tip to remember here is that you need to be COMFORTABLE. You’ll be doing a lot of walking, so don’t wear anything that’s going to chafe or blister. Also, you need to check the weather before you plan your outfit. Bring rain gear if you need it, and don’t wear anything that’s too complicated and will interfere with your activities and enjoyment of the night. @grace_hersh So there you have it — holiday party tips from a seasoned expert! 12. I’m gonna cut right to the chase. There’s a big blue curtain at the Contemporary Resort in Disney World, and we’re dying to see what’s hiding back there. Just look at that thing! It looks like it belongs on the set of Let’s Make a Deal. What’s behind curtain number one?! WE MUST KNOW! The Big Blue Curtain in question Don’t worry. We’re not completely clueless. We know that the Contemporary Resort is preparing to unveil its annual holiday gingerbread display, and those Disney bakers are hard at work behind the scenes. But this year’s display is extra special. Why? Four words: Cinderella Castle Dream Lights. Let’s talk about it. Each holiday season, hotels around Disney World host incredible gingerbread displays, complete with limited-time treats and drinks. Take it from us — it is SO much fun hopping from resort to resort to see all the different gingerbread creations (and enjoying some sweets along the way). Gingerbread Display at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort Now, over at Disney’s Contemporary Resort, we typically see a gingerbread castle creation of some kind. The 2023 display, for example, featured Mickey and Minnie as they waved to visitors in front of Cinderella Castle. Cuuuute. 2023 Contemporary Gingerbread Castle But things are changing this year! In fact, Disney teased that on November 8th, the Contemporary Resort will unveil a NEW gingerbread overlay inspired by the Cinderella Castle Dream Lights. Hold the phone. Disney mentioned the beloved DREAM LIGHTS in the year 2024?! You have no idea how badly we miss those stunning lights. Cinderella Castle Dream Lights circa 2018 For now, the castle is still hiding behind a curtain — those Dream Lights take a while to install, after all! And at 17+ feet tall, this is no baby castle. We see you, missy! When it’s complete (and the mysterious curtains come down), the new Cinderella Castle display will be located on the 4th floor of the resort. You will also be able to buy limited-edition pins, a cookie jar, and a holiday ornament. We can’t WAIT to see it! The display will even feature 13 hidden Mickeys and the famous 5-legged goat. That little guy is an icon! Between the iconic Mary Blair goat and the Dream Lights, this gingerbread creation was MADE for Disney fans. 5-legged goat Oh, and while we’re here, we should talk about the new and returning treats coming to the resort for the holidays! When the gingerbread display debuts, you’ll be able to order iconic holiday treats like a Linzer Cookie, Hot Chocolate Tart, and a Chocolate Hazelnut Log! Santa, if you’re listening, this is the place to GO if you’re looking for some holiday cookies. Here’s a peek at what will be on the menu: Linzer Cookie Caramel Apple Cake with Gingerbread Streusel Chocolate Hazelnut Log Pistachio Cranberry and Cherry Cake Santa Peppermint Hot Chocolate Tart House-made Christmas Tree Butter Cookie Winter Berry Freeze (Alcoholic floater available) Frozen Hot Cocoa (Alcoholic floater available) Pistachio Linzer Cookie Now, all that’s left to do is wait for that curtain to come down. You KNOW we’ll be there to see the final product, so keep your eyes out for updates! In the meantime, we’re always on the lookout for the latest Disney news, so stay tuned for more. 14. The Disney Cruise Line is growing! ©Disney In August, Disney announced that MORE ships are coming to the Disney Cruise Line. The cruise line, which is relatively small compared to other cruise lines, currently has five ships in operation, with one more coming this winter and, two more coming in 2025, and four more in addition to that are on the way. Not all of the cruise ships are the same, but you’re bound to get amazing adventure on any of them. Disney breaks its ships down into classes with different offerings on each of them, so let’s take a look at each class to make your decision easier! Wish Class The ships in the Wish Class are Disney’s biggest ships with lots of fun offerings. Currently, the Disney Wish is the only ship active in this class, but the Disney Treasure, which makes its inaugural journey later this year, will also be part of this class along with the Disney Destiny. ©Disney The Wish has amazing themed restaurants and adults-only lounges, and the upcoming ships will also incorporate these themed locations (however, with different themes in some cases). Dinner theater is offered at some of the top-tier dining spots that incorporate Marvel, Frozen, and Star Wars. The Disney Treasure will have new Haunted Mansion and 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea lounges, while the Disney Destiny will have Villain-themed areas. Haunted Mansion Parlor ©Disney The AquaMouse water coasters also set the Wish class apart. These are bigger than the water coasters offered on the Dream Class ships. The Wish also has a reimagined Oceaneers Club for kids 3 to 12, where the kids can enter on a slide! There is also a Marvel Super Hero Academy in the upgraded Oceaneers Club. Disney Wish As far as rooms, the Disney Wish offers seven ocean-view rooms, which was a first for the Disney Cruise Line. The rooms are spacious and have pull-down and pull-out beds. The ship can fit up to 4,000 passengers when completely filled up. If you want a ship that is an adventure all on its own before even getting to your destination, the Wish Class ships are what you’re looking for. Dream Class The Dream Class ships aren’t much smaller than the Wish Class ships and still offer lots of excitement on your cruise. The ships in this class so far are the Disney Dream and the Disney Fantasy. These ships are geared even more toward families and family experiences. Disney Dream These ships have kiddie water slides, a kiddie play area, and several pools. There are lots of play areas and family entertainment, as well as some adult-only areas. As with all Disney ships, there are also kid zones for the kids to hang out in. Lobby of the Disney Dream The rooms on these ships are even more largely catered to families. They offer extra pull-down and pull-out beds, and most cabins offer two bathrooms, which is not common in the world of cruising. Many of the cabins can sleep five comfortably. Deluxe Oceanview Stateroom with Verandah The Disney Dream sails from Miami with shorter trips to the Bahamas or the Caribbean, while the Disney Fantasy sails from Port Canaveral with longer trips to the Caribbean. While all Disney cruises are family-oriented, if you’re looking for a very family-focused cruise, the Dream Class ships might be the best fit for you! Magic Class The Magic Class is made up of the oldest ships in the fleet, but they have been updated and are still great options! These ships are considerably smaller than the other two classes of ships, and it’s pretty apparent while you’re on board. Disney Magic Cruise Ship Since these ships are significantly smaller, you’ll generally find itineraries that include more time spent at the destinations rather than en route on the ship. You’ll find the AquaDunk on these ships, which are considerably smaller body water slides at 37 feet tall. (The AquaDuck water coaster, in comparison, is 765 feet long.) The Disney Magic There’s a new outdoor kid fun zone called the AquaLab, as well as a French Quarter-themed lounge for adults. Of course, there are lots of fun things to do on the ship, you’ll just find that it’s less so than the other two classes. The capacity is about half of that of the Dream and Wish classes at only 2,713 passengers. Disney Magic Deluxe Oceanview Stateroom with Verandah The Disney Magic travels to Europe each summer while the Disney sails to Alaska or Mexico. 15. Well, Halloween is officially over and we’re gearing up for the rest of the fall season in Disney World. Holiday Feast Time! Who are we kidding? It’s Christmas in Magic Kingdom already! But that doesn’t mean we’ll be overlooking other holidays because yes, Thanksgiving is still a very popular time to visit Disney World. If you’ve got plans to visit Disney World on Thanksgiving, though, we’ve got some great news: you have lots of dining spots where you can grab Thanksgiving dinner. If you want to have a traditional Turkey Day dinner in Magic Kingdom, well, look no further than Liberty Tree Tavern and The Diamond Horseshoe, where’s it’s Thanksgiving year-round. You’ll get all-you-care-to-enjoy servings of traditional Thanksgiving food at both locations, with that delicious Ooey Gooey Toffee Cake for dessert. One suggestion, though: make those dining reservations ASAP. A full Thanksgiving spread at Liberty Tree Tavern In EPCOT, head to Via Napoli for the Autunno, a fall-inspired pizza with butternut squash, fresh ricotta, fried crispy prosciutto, and arugula that will be available through November 30th. You can get an individual pizza for $25, a large (for 2-3 people) for $42, or a mezzo (serves 3-4 people) for $58. Via Napoli in EPCOT’s Italy pavilion If you’re visiting Disney’s Animal Kingdom or Disney Springs, Rainforest Cafe also offers a Thanksgiving menu on Thanksgiving Day (November 28th). You’ll get to enjoy the traditional Turkey Day foods like turkey, gravy, stuffing, veggies, mashed potatoes, cranberry sauce, pumpkin pie, and more. The menu is $28.99 for adults and $16.99 for kids. Rainforest Cafe in Disney Spring Summer House on the Lake, which is also located in Disney Springs, is offering a Thanksgiving Day Prix Fixe meal. You’ll get a three-course meal that includes a choice of salad or soup, a Roast Turkey Dinner or Salmon, and Pumpkin Chiffon Pie or Chocolate Cake. The cost is $69.95 per person. Summer House on the Lake There will be plenty of places in Disney Springs offering Thanksgiving meals. That includes The Edison, which is offering specials just for Thanksgiving Day, including a Thanksgiving Turkey dinner with Roasted heritage turkey, herbed stuffing, dreamy mash, house gravy, and green bean casserole for $39 ($18 for kids). You can also order Pumpkin Cheesecake for dessert for $15. Fall-themed cocktails are also available. The Edison Earl of Sandwich, also in Disney Springs, is bringing back the Holiday Turkey Sandwich with turkey, cornbread stuffing, gravy, cranberrry sauce, and mayonnaise for $9.49. This is one of our faves! Holiday Turkey Sandwich Raglan Road will also have a special menu on November 28th to enjoy a classic Irish Thanksgiving feast, including Butter and Herb Roasted Turkey, Sausage Meat Stuffing, Mashed Potatoes, Honey Glazed Carrots, Cranberry Sauce, and more. The menu is $39.99 for adults and $19.99 for children. Raglan Road Paddlefish will host a traditional turkey dinner on Thanksgiving Day. The meal will include herb-roasted turkey breast, andouille cornbread stuffing, whipped potatoes, green beans, cranberry relish, and pan gravy. The meal is $32 for adults and $12 for children. Paddlefish You can get a special Thanksgiving dinner at Terralina Crafted Italian, too. The menu includes Rosemary Roasted Turkey with Applewood Smoked Bacon and Granny Smith Apple Stuffing, Yukon Gold Mash, Roasted Asparagus with a Sage and Thyme Gravy, and Homemade Cranberry Relish. The meal is $32 per adult and $12 per child. Terralina Crafted Italian Don’t want to miss Thanksgiving Day football but still want a traditional meal? Head on over to City Works Eatery and Pour House, where you can enjoy Thanksgiving Day-specific menu items like Herb-Roasted Turkey and a variety of fall-themed cocktails. City Works A Turkey Dinner Menu will be available at T-Rex, including Roasted Turkey, Turkey Gravy, Stuffing, Green Beans & Mushrooms, Mashed Potatoes, Roasted Sweet Potatoes, Cranberry Sauce, and Pumpkin Pie. The meal is $30.99 for adults and $16.99 for kids. T-REX If you’re staying at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge, you can get a special Thanksgiving menu on Thanksgiving Day at Whispering Canyon Cafe. You can choose from two skillets, a Thanksgiving Skillet with oak-smoked turkey, slow-smoked pulled pork, Western-style sausages, maple-chipotle pork ribs, cornbread stuffing, sautéed green beans, giblet gravy, cranberry relish, buttered corn and smashed Yukon potatoes or a Plant-Based Skillet with maple-chipotle barbecued jackfruit, spicy ‘sausage,’ mustard-glazed beefless tips, herb-brushed Trick’n Chick’n, roasted potatoes, oven-roasted carrots, sautéed green beans and charred peppers. Whispering Canyon Cafe For those at Disney’s Contemporary Resort, Steakhouse 71 will be serving modified breakfast, lunch, and dinner menus on Thanksgiving Day, featuring select items from the dinner menu and some holiday-inspired dishes. 16. Disney World has started decorating for the holidays, but many of the yummy fall treats are still available! Animal Kingdom winter decorations Soon, we’ll be eating peppermint and all things red and green, but we’re still enjoying the flavors of fall. Over at Disney’s Animal Kingdom, a cupcake appeared on October 16th, which is the perfect fall treat! Somehow, Disney managed to put every comforting fall flavor into one yummy snack. Disney released the Pumpkin-Chai Cupcake at both Pizzafari and Restaurantosaurus for $6.29. We’ve seen similar cupcakes around the parks in past years, but this large dessert is worth stopping by for. It is made with pumpkin-spiced carrot cake, white chocolate-chai tea mousse, mocha buttercream, and caramelized apple filling — and it’s AMAZING. Pumpkin-Chai Cupcake This is literally fall in a cupcake. Disney managed to put together all these fall flavors into one delicious cupcake, and we’re totally here for it. If you grab a forkful of every element, you’ll taste the amazing flavors all together in a way that works beautifully. But each part of it is certainly great on its own, too. It’s SO cute! The chocolate-chai tea mousse has a perfect balance of white chocolate and chai. The spices and sweetness work so well together in a way we were pleasantly surprised with! The apple filling tastes just like apple pie, and while the buttercream seems like it will be overwhelming, it isn’t. The cake is moist and tastes more like just a pumpkin spice cake rather than a carrot cake with pumpkin spice. There are no crunchy bits of carrot in there; it’s a soft and smooth cake. Everything goes so well together! This treat is pretty large and tall, so it can be a bit difficult to eat. We suggest sitting down with a fork or spoon and sharing it might be a good option because there’s a lot there! If you walk and try to eat this, it will likely topple over and be really messy (we speak from experience ). But don’t let the messiness of this cupcake deter you; it’s a fantastic fall treat to grab while you still can! It’s large, messy, and AMAZING Soon, we’ll be tasting our way through all the new holiday treats in Disney World, but while these fall snacks are still available, be sure to check them out! 18. Disney Springs is full of some of our favorite places to eat. Disney Springs Don’t get us wrong, we love dining in the theme parks, too, but some of our top recommendations can be found in the shopping and dining district. Specifically, The Polite Pig holds a special place in our hearts thanks to its incredible BBQ dining options, and we got word there was a new dessert to try. So, of course, we headed over there ASAP to tell you if this new cheesecake is worth the trip! The Polite Pig is known for its modern barbecue in a variety of wood-fired smoked and grilled items. We headed over to try their new Blueberry Cheesecake, which will cost you $8. Blueberry Cheesecake The blueberry is strong with this one, for sure! The blueberry sauce has a great amount of tartiness that balances well with the sweetness of the cheesecake. This is a chunkier cheesecake, which we know doesn’t sound very appetizing, but it is quite nice! It just isn’t a silky and creamy cheesecake; it has more texture. Delicious! There are also blueberries inside the cheesecake itself; the crust is a graham cracker crust with a nice, crumbly thickness. The cheesecake itself does have a cream cheese flavor to it, but it’s hard to taste over all the blueberries. If you’re looking for a blueberry dessert, this could be perfect! Definitely has a lot of texture But since we’re snacking experts around here, we have to do a little Disney snack comparison. Over at Disney’s Pop Century Resort, you can get a nice slice of Tie-Dye Cheesecake for $5.99. Not only is this slice a little cheaper, but we just might like it MORE than the blueberry option at Disney Springs. It’s just so smooth and creamy — plus it’s COLORFUL! 21. We do love some Disney World snacks, and that includes Disney World drinks. Glacier Kitchen at Main Street Confectionery Some drinks, though, are 100% designed with kids in mind, and that usually includes all the frozen drinks and slushies you can get in the parks. Now, don’t get us wrong, some of those frozen non-boozy drinks are our favorites (the Frozen Mint Tea in EPCOT’s Morocco Pavilion comes to mind), but a lot of the drinks are going to appeal to kids. Well, let’s just say we tried one slushy that your kid will probably beg you for — and we have thoughts. This little adventure is going to take us to Magic Kingdom where we’ll visit Main Street Confectionery. Your kid will probably point out IMMEDIATELY that you can get slushies from Glacier Kitchen inside there. That includes the Rainbow Slushy, which YOU KNOW your kid will beg for. Well, we decided to try it for ourselves. Rainbow Slushy At first, the flavors are really good in this slushy as you move the straw up and down to experience all of them separately. It’s a rainbow of flavors. But this is Florida, and well, things melt fast and once it’s all melted, it’s kind of foul. The acidity of the lemon, the brightness of the cherry, the blue raspberry, and the Coca-Cola do NOT blend well. EW. A lot of the syrup also ends up at the bottom and you end up with the ghost of all those flavors in melting ice. Is it pretty? Sure. But the flavors here just don’t work…at all…when they’re combined. Taste the rainbow? We also got the chance to try Coca-Cola with Cherry Fanta Slushy, which is basically a Cherry Coke Slushy. Now, THIS frozen drink was a win for us. Previously, they had the Orange Fanta you could get mixed, but now it’s the Cherry, and this is by FAR the superior flavor. Coca-Cola with Cherry Fanta Slushy So while you’re kid is drinking the Rainbow (and probably making faces as it melts), treat yourself to the Coca-Cola with Cherry Fanta Slushy. And stay tuned to DFB for more reviews. WE KNOW – there are SO many great snacks at Disney World! How do you choose (we don’t want to choose but will blow our budget on Day 1 otherwise)? 22. Are you making the most of Disney World’s hotels? Disney’s Contemporary Resort Ever since the Polynesian Village and Contemporary resorts opened along with Disney World in October of 1971, hotels have been an integral part of the resort experience. Over the last 50+ years, nearly 30 resorts have opened across the property, while several more have been left unbuilt. However, many guests aren’t taking advantage of everything Disney World has to offer. While it is possible to simply use a Walt Disney World hotel room as a stopover to sleep in between park visits, they don’t need to be. The property’s hotels offer lots more than just simply rooms, with amenities including theming, restaurants, transportation methods, and even historic locations, all of which are accessible to non-hotel guests. Let’s start with restaurants. Some of the best on Disney World property are scattered around hotels on the property, including traditional favorites like the California Grill at the Contemporary Resort, Ohana at the Polynesian, and the Michelin Star-winning Victoria & Albert’s at the Grand Floridian. There are also some newer restaurant’s like the Contemporary’s Steakhouse 71 and Topolino’s Terrace (complete with its gorgeous rooftop views of EPCOT’s nightly fireworks) at the Riviera Resort. Look at that VIEW from Topolino’s Terrace In addition to those well-known fining dining locations, there are also some less well-known, but equally enjoyable out-of-the-way restaurants scattered across the company’s hotels, including Sebastian’s Bistro at the Caribbean Beach Resort, which we’d argue provides one of the best – – and most cost-effective – – table-service options on property. Sebastian’s Bistro Beyond just the restaurants, there’s plenty to see at Disney’s hotels from an architectural standpoint. Some properties like the Port Orleans Resort are as (or in some cases more) intricately themed than some areas of the parks, to the point where one could walk around taking in the ambiance for hours. Sassagoula Floatworks The Contemporary and Polynesian resorts not only offer that level of theming, but also offer real world history. The former was the site of Richard Nixon’s infamous “I am not a crook” speech while the latter was the setting for John Lennon to sign the papers officially dissolving The Beatles. Washington Post Another Walt Disney World hotel benefit you could take advantage of? Transportation. For example, even if you’re not staying at one of the Magic Kingdom Resort area hotels on the monorail line (the Contemporary, Polynesian, and the Grand Floridan) you can head off to one of those hotels (maybe indulge in some breakfast) and then hop on the Monorail to arrive at the Magic Kingdom in the most iconic way. The same can be said for the Skyliner to EPCOT or Hollywood Studios, which can be picked up at Pop Century/Art of Animation, the Riviera Resort, and the Caribbean Beach Resort. Skyliner at Caribbean Beach Resort While there are many Disney World hotels that hit all these criteria, there’s perhaps none that ticks more boxes than The BoardWalk. The massive resort, opened in 1996, features (as one would imagine) a full boardwalk themed to the boardwalks of the American northeast, circa the turn of the 19th to 20th century. Disney’s BoardWalk Said boardwalk features shopping and dining including the newly opened Cake Bake Shop (yes, it’s expensive but it has proven to be delicious when we’ve tried it), and hoping experiences that make it an all-day experience on-par with other themed Disney locations. Plus, it’s accessible via boat from ECPOT or Hollywood Studios as well as being a short walk from the EPCOT Skyliner station. Millionaire’s Cake Walt Disney World’s vast network of hotels offers a slew of experiences, ranging from dining to theming to transportation, almost of of which can be taken advantage of by guests who aren’t staying at them. Stay tuned to DFB for more on Disney World’s infrastructure. How Hotels Are CHANGING in Disney World in 2025 Join the DFB Newsletter to get all the breaking news right in your inbox! 23. It is almost time for Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party to start in Magic Kingdom! Magic Kingdom During Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party! On select nights from November 8th to December 20th, the Magic Kingdom hosts Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party, and like Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party, it is a specially ticketed event. Those with tickets can enter the Magic Kingdom at 4 PM. The park officially closes for regular park operating hours at 6 PM, and the party kicks off at 7 PM. During the party, there is specialty entertainment like Mickey’s Once Upon a Christmastime Parade and Minnie’s Wonderful Christmastime Fireworks. There are also holiday-themed character meet, and greets, and lines for attractions tend to be shorter since the party has a limited capacity. Of course, there are tons of party-exclusive food, but we are confused about why getting some of these treats is so complicated. The Magic Kingdom holiday foodie guide was released last week. It included all the food you can find during the holiday season during regular park operating hours as well as during Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party. Check it out at the link below! All the Snacks You Can Find at Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party in 2024! We were so excited to see all the new and returning treats when we noticed something odd. It is perfectly normal for party-exclusive treats only to be available once the party starts, but some treats have specific periods when they will be available. ©Disney Starting at Aloha Isle, the Holiday Pineapple-Orange-Guava Juice Float, which is pineapple-orange-guava juice, coconut soft-serve, and a spiced pineapple tree pop, and the Cranberry Citrus Float, which features Sprite Winter Spiced Cranberry and fruity boba pearls topped with DOLE Whip, are only available until 11 PM. This is not too bad since the party runs until midnight, so you have a majority of the party time to snag a treat here. ©Disney Pecos Bills Tall Tale Inn Cafe has four specialty offerings this year. There are the Carne Asada Loaded Fries, which feature seasoned french fries with carne asada, chipotle queso, caramelized onion, avocado salsa verde, and queso fresco. There is also the Cheese and Chile Tamale, which is served ‘Christmas-style’ with mild red chile and green chile-pumpkin seed sauces, citrus-chipotle chicken, cilantro rice, pinto beans, and queso fresco. If you are looking to satisfy your sweet tooth, you can try the Chocolate Eggnog Tart, which is a chocolate tart topped with eggnog mousse and chocolate antlers. Finally, there is the Salted Caramel Horchata. Just like Aloha Aisle, these treats are only available until 11 PM. ©Disney At Sleepy Hollow, you will find four other specialty items. First up is the Orange Chicken Tenders, which are fried chicken tenders with orange-soy glaze, glass noodles, green onions, and crispy garlic. You can also try the Szechuan Cauliflower, which is spicy breaded cauliflower tossed in a Szechuan-soy glaze. No trip to Sleepy Hollow would be complete without a Mickey waffle. During the party, you can try the Holiday Red Velvet Waffle Sundae with a Mickey-shaped red velvet waffle topped with M&M’s Milk Chocolate Candies, peppermint ice cream, and hot fudge. There is also the Milk and Cookies Mousee, which has brown sugar cookie cake topped with chocolate chip cookie dough mousse, milk mousse, and chocolate chip cookies. ©Disney All of the above offerings are available for all parties, but the new Brownie Peppermint Bark with peppermint candy pieces is only available starting at 8:30 PM. You can also try this treat at Liberty Square Market starting at 8:30 PM as well. Liberty Square Market One treat is not available during the party: the Gingerbread Cake at Columbia Harbor House. It is only available during park hours until 5 PM. This treat is a Gingerbread chiffon cake with cream cheese frosting, dulce ganache, and a chocolate piece. If you want to try this, make sure to do so as soon as you can enter the park at 4 PM. ©Disney Another time slot has entered the party! At Pinocchio Village Haus, the Baked Brie Flatbread with brie-cheese spread, mango chutney, green apples, arugula, almonds, and a honey drizzle, as well as the Lasagna Flatbread with Italian sausage, meatballs, five-cheese mix, ricotta cheese, and pesto, are only available until 9:30 PM. ©Disney If you are looking to try the Black Forest Parfait, which consists of flourless chocolate cake, chocolate mousse, cherry chantilly, brandy-cherry compote, and chocolate popping candies, it is also only available until 9:30 PM. Pinocchio Village Haus If you are feeling confused by all of this, so are we because there is yet another different time slot of offerings to add to the list. At Cheshire Cafe, the Whoopie Pie, with chocolate cake sandwiched with marshmallow mint buttercream, and the Cherry Cordial Cold Brew, which features Joffrey’s Cold Brew topped with cherry whipped cream, chocolate drizzle, and chocolate curls, are only available until 6 PM. ©Disney Once again, if you want to try these treats, you must do so before the party starts. Cheshire Cafe We are not really sure why there are so many different time slots, and we know that this can get confusing. 24. We track the daily Lightning Lane Multi Pass, Lightning Lane Single Pass, and Lightning Lane Premier Pass pricing, and when we notice a record-breaking high price, we let you know. ©Disney If you choose to use Lightning Lane, it can eat a big chunk out of your budget when the prices skyrocket, and you pay for every person in your group. But what’s even better than telling you when the prices soar is letting you know when we see a drop! We would much rather come to you with this good news, and luckily we can! In case you’re not familiar with the Lightning Lane systems, let’s do a quick run-through. If you purchase Lighting Lane Multi Pass, you buy it for one of the four parks and then have access to the Lightning Lanes for the multiple rides in that park that are part of Multi Pass. You can also park hop and continue to use Multi Pass in the other three parks after purchasing it for one. ©Disney Lightning Lane Single Pass is used for a single ride in one of the parks. You can purchase the Single Pass for these rides individually to ride it at a given time that day. In Magic Kingdom, Seven Dwarfs Mine Train and TRON Lightcycle / Run use Single Pass. In EPCOT, the Single Pass ride is Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind. At Hollywood Studios, the Single Pass ride is Rise of the Resistance. And at Animal Kingdom, it’s Flight of Passage. Each of these rides has an individual price you can pay to enjoy the Lightning Lane line. Seven Dwarfs Mine Train Now, we have some BIG news about the Lightning Lane Single Pass for TRON Lightcycle / Run at Magic Kingdom. Since Lightning Lane has been offered here (as Individual Lightning Lane and as Lightning Lane Single Pass), the price to use the Lightning Lane has been a minimum of $20 and often higher. We have never seen it go below $20…that is until recently! TRON Lightcycle / Run Coming up on November 21st, the Single Pass for TRON is $19! So, if you’re visiting Magic Kingdom that day, you’ll want to snag that pass at its lowest price EVER. TRON entrance Another dip in pricing to note, on that same day, Seven Dwarfs Mine Train will see its lowest price in November at $11! This isn’t the first time this ride will have dropped to $11, but it is the only day in November through November 23rd that it is that low. These low prices might mean that Disney is expecting lower crowds this day, but regardless of the reason, this is the day you’ll want to grab these Single Passes. Seven Dwarfs Mine Train entrance People staying at a Disney World resort or select other resort can purchase Lightning Lane Multi Pass and Lighting Lane Single Pass up to seven days ahead of your trip for the duration of your trip for up to 14 days. That means that for those of you who are planning to be at Disney World around the time of November 21st, you’re time to book your Lightning Lanes is coming up soon! Get ready to grab these Lightning Lanes on the day they dip in price. Seven Dwarfs Mine Train Disney also just released the Lightning Lane Premier Pass for guests staying at Deluxe Disney World Resorts. With this pass, you can ride every Lightning Lane ride one time in the park you purchased the pass for on the day you purchased it. You can purchase Premier Pass up to seven days in advance, and the quantities of these passes are very limited. Pricing ranges from $129 – $400. Learn More About Lightning Lane Premier Pass Here We’re excited when we get to tell you about a price drop, so be sure to take advantage of these lower prices!
