It takes a certain type of person to be a Disney World Cast Member. They must be 1.) personable, 2.) energetic, and 3.) enthusiastic. No sad sacks on the job! Mickey Mouse wants his coworkers to have FUN, after all! Tiana’s Bayou Adventure Cast Members Why are we telling you this? Well, there’s an unspoken fourth trait that Cast Members must have to work at Disney World: tact. As a Cast Member, you’re gonna run into all kinds of weird situations that ONLY happen at a world-famous theme park like Disney World. They don’t teach you how to fix a Lightning Lane Multi Pass reservation in business school. So, sure, your local theme park ride attendant may be able to say, “Not my problem, lady,” when you bring them a problem, but Disney World Cast Members can’t get away with that kind of thing. We have several former Cast Members here on the Disney Food Blog team, so we know what it’s like inside the mind of a person working at Disney World. Ever wondered what Attractions Cast Members REALLY want to say when someone is being rude at a ride? We’re spilling the secrets. #1. Your vacation isn’t ruined. Pretty much any Cast Member you talk to probably has a story about a guest interaction gone wrong. Maybe a Disney guest was having a bad day. Maybe something went wrong on their trip. Maybe an interaction didn’t go the way they wanted it to. No matter the circumstances, Cast Members hear this phrase a lot: “You RUINED my vacation!” Visiting Guest Relations can be super helpful! Nine times out of ten, though, that phrase is an exaggeration. It’s easy to get caught up in the moment when something goes wrong on vacation; we get it. But step back for a second. You’re on vacation with people you love. You’re in a safe, well-maintained environment full of people who want to help. View from the PeopleMover Trust us — your vacation is NOT ruined. There are about a million things you can do to turn around a bad day. Just take a ride on the PeopleMover (a favorite of ours), and your mood will improve! #2. The ride is closed…it’s not that deep. Are you sensing a theme yet? Cast Members have to deal with a lot of dramatic attitudes. Sometimes, rides close unexpectedly. It happens! This is a theme park, open 365 days a year, that hosts hundreds of thousands of people. Things will go wrong! A recent Pirates of the Caribbean closure If a Cast Member is standing outside of a closed attraction, there’s nothing they can do but try to keep people informed. What Cast Members WANT to say versus what they ACTUALLY say when people take out their frustration are two very different things. What’s going through their heads, though? “Stop being so dramatic.” #3. I did not invent the Lightning Lane service. I just work here! Ever since Disney took away a beloved FREE perk called FastPass+ and replaced it with a PAID alternative…people have been unhappy. We can’t blame ’em! It’s no fun paying for something that used to be free. But, little do you know, Cast Members are just as inconvenienced as you. It’s not like Cast Members were the ones who invented the Lightning Lane service! Lightning Lane When something goes wrong with the service, who do people complain to? Disney CEO Bob Iger? Not exactly. The Attractions Cast Members must be the mediators, problem solvers, and rule enforcers. It’s not an easy job! They’re just doing their jobs like the rest of us. If only they could remind people! Slinky Dog Dash Disney World Cast Members are happy to help — it’s literally their job! But sometimes, when people have a bad attitude or mean things to say, it’s hard to keep a smile on your face. Ah, the life of a Cast Member! Back at D23, Disney announced that an official Monsters, Inc. themed land would be coming to Hollywood Studios. Well, we officially got confirmation on where this new land will be going, but we also got some news we weren’t expecting AT ALL! ©Disney The new Monsters, Inc. land will be taking over the Muppets area of Disney’s Hollywood Studios, BUT this isn’t the end of The Muppets in Hollywood Studios. In fact, The Muppets are being moved elsewhere in Hollywood Studios. Disney announced that The Muppets will be moving to Sunset Boulevard and taking over Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster! You read that right, The Muppets (!) will be the star of the show on Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster and will be teaming up with some of “music’s biggest stars for a rockin’ music festival.” ©Disney We are thinking no one probably had a Muppets retheme of Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster on their 2024 bingo card, but here we are! This will be the first Disney ride to feature The Muppets and there are sure to be “laughter, screams and new tunes for this attraction for fans to enjoy throughout the adventure.” Additionally, Disney teased that there will be plenty of Muppets-themed merchandise on Sunset Boulevard. Sunset Boulevard Disney said that there is still plenty of time to watch Muppet*Vision 3D and take a limo ride with Aerosmith on Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster though. Disney hasn’t announced yet when construction will begin on the Monsters, Inc. land. A lot of exciting things are happening in Disney World right now, and there are even more exciting things coming up soon. Disney’s Hollywood Studios Test Track is getting a re-theme. A new Zootopia show is coming to Disney’s Animal Kingdom, which is also getting a brand new land, Pueblo Esperanza. Magic Kingdom is getting two new Cars rides AND a new Villains land, and a villains-themed show is coming to Disney’s Hollywood Studios. However, something else is coming to Hollywood Studios, too, and that means a land will have to close down to make way for construction. Now, we know when that will happen. Muppets Courtyard will be closing in Hollywood Studios so work on a brand new Monsters, Inc. land can begin. The new Monsters, Inc. land will have at least one new ride based on the doors scene in the first Monsters, Inc. movie. ©Disney Disney also just announced that there will be a NEW theater show as part of this retheme, too! Plus dining and shopping as well. We can’t wait! ©Disney This means that Muppet*Vision 3D will also be closing to make way for this new land to be built at Hollywood Studios. But, FEAR NOT! The Muppets aren’t going anywhere! Okay, well, they’re moving — but we think you’re going to like where! Muppets Courtyard Disney announced that as part of this new overhaul, the Muppets will take over Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster and “team up with music’s biggest stars for a rockin’ music festival.” Yep, that’s right — the Muppets are coming to Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster! Disney hasn’t shared too many details, but we did get this awesome poster! ©Disney According to Disney, they are “having creative conversations and exploring ways to preserve the [Muppet*Vision 3D] film and other parts of the experience for fans to enjoy in the future.” Does this mean we might get Muppet*Vision on Disney+?! We can hope! Disney has still yet to announce when these changes will begin or when the new Monsters Inc. land and Muppets version of Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster might open, but we’ll let you know when that changes! Get ready to open the door because Mike and Sulley are coming to town! That’s right, humans will be able to enter the world of Monsters, Inc. when it is added to the south side of Disney’s Hollywood Studios. Building off the exciting announcements from last summer’s D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event, the new land will include the coaster we’ve all dreamed of – a suspended ride recreating the door vault scene – plus dining and shopping and a whole new theater show. To make way for the monsters, Kermit the Frog, Miss Piggy and more of their friends will be moving right along to Sunset Boulevard! But there’s more to the story: The Muppets will be taking over Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster, teaming up with some of music’s biggest stars for a rockin’ music festival! We know so many of you share our love for The Muppets and know their energy will be a perfect fit for this coaster. Plus, as the first Disney ride ever to feature The Muppets, there’s sure to be laughter, screams and new tunes for this attraction for fans to enjoy throughout the adventure and plenty of Muppets-themed merchandise on Sunset Boulevard! In the meantime, there’s still enough time to catch a super-stretch limo to the Forum to enjoy Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith and catch Muppet*Vision 3D again before their final curtain calls. As we move forward with these changes, we are having creative conversations and exploring ways to preserve the film and other parts of the experience for fans to enjoy in the future. The food court at Disney’s Pop Century Resort has been undergoing construction since July, and now we have another update on the progress! Disney’s Pop Century Resort We are getting one step closer to this food court no longer being under construction, so let’s take a look at the current situation! Everything Pop Shopping and Dining is located inside of Disney’s Pop Century Resort. This area houses the hotel’s gift shop and food court. It has been undergoing renovations since July 19th, and now more of the newly refurbished food court has been unveiled! Everything Pop Shopping and Dining When construction began in July, most of the food court was closed and guests were only able to Mobile Order from the food court. At the end of September, a large chunk of the food court reopened including the food counters, so guests were no longer required to Mobile Order. When we stopped by recently, we noticed that more of the food court has been reopened! Everything Pop Shopping and Dining Additionally, the entrance is no longer behind construction walls, although there are still some construction walls up. The entrance has reopened! While one small part of the food counters is still under construction… One section of the food court is still under construction A portion of the seating behind the gift shop is still under construction as well, but it seems like they are making good progress on the renovation. We are loving the bright and retro colors throughout the food court, and we feel like the new design really fits with the theme of Pop Century. The holiday season has arrived in Disney World — and you know what that means. Tree at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort It means that all the parks and hotels are now decked out in holiday decorations with gorgeous Christmas trees. It also means that holiday snacks have arrived (probably our FAVORITE part of the holiday season). And it means the gingerbread displays are up at Disney World hotels, meaning that a lot of people will be visiting those hotels. However, we have a word of warning if you plan on visiting the most popular hotel gingerbread display. The gingerbread house at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa is always a huge draw for the holiday crowds in Disney World. This impressive display brings a TON of people to the hotel during what is already one of the year’s busiest seasons. That means one thing: Disney starts cracking down on a specific rule for those who are not staying at the Grand Floridian but still plan to visit the gingerbread display there. 2024 Grand Floridian Gingerbread House Disney World has issued a warning for those who want to visit the Grand Floridian gingerbread display and plan on driving to the hotel to do so. Disney is telling guests to park at the Magic Kingdom parking lot (aka the Transportation and Ticket Center) and take the Monorail to the hotel. Parking is only allowed at the hotel for those staying there or those with a dining reservation at one of the hotel’s restaurants. ©Disney Disney also recommends those with dining reservations at the hotel to allow extra time for travel, which is generally a good rule of thumb for everywhere at Disney World during the holiday season. Things are going to be extra busy, so expect transportation to take a little longer in some instances. Disney bus to Grand Floridian So if you are visiting this holiday season, plan ahead, pack your patience, but most importantly, HAVE FUN. Disney World is changing its premium Lightning Lane pass less than a month after its introduction. Cinderella Castle Lightning Lane Premier Pass allows you to use the Lightning Lanes to skip the lines at most attractions in any given Disney World park — without having to make reservations and schedule your Lightning Lanes throughout the day. With this pass, you just scan in at the Lightning Lane — no reservation needed. And starting November 22nd, Disney World has announced a big change. When Lightning Lane Premier Pass was introduced on October 30th, 2024, you could only buy it if you were staying in a Disney World Deluxe Hotel, the Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin Hotels, or Shades of Green. But now, you can buy Premier Pass if you are staying in ANY Disney World hotel — including Moderate or Value Resorts. Even value resort guests can now buy Disney World’s Lightning Lane Premier Pass. Winnie the Pooh Lightning Lane Another important thing you need to know about Lightning Lane Premier Pass is that it can only be used in the park you buy it for. So, if you buy Lightning Lane Premier Pass for EPCOT and then decide to hop to Magic Kingdom, you will not be able to scan into the Lightning Lanes there with your Premier Pass. The BAD NEWS About Disney World’s Lightning Lane Premier Pass Now keep in mind that there are three ways to pay to skip the lines at Disney World, with Premier Pass being the most expensive. Get ready to defy gravity! ©Universal Universal’s Wicked is debuting in theaters on November 22nd, 2024 and the hype is real! The epic musical fantasy is a screen adaptation of the wildly popular stage musical of the same name and has been highly anticipated for years now. We’ve been getting ready with some themed merch and playing the songs over and over again, but for those looking to sing along, one major movie chain says, “Not so fast!” Wicked on stage has already amassed a HUGE following of adoring fans who know all the lyrics by heart. However, fans wanting to sing along to these “popular” songs may want to take pause, as AMC Theaters is warning moviegoers that singing along will be considered a disruption and could lead to expulsion from the theater. AMC in Disney Springs Ahead of its debut on November 22nd, AMC Theaters (the largest movie theater chain in the United States) began playing a 30-second advisory before every movie to remind viewers that “silence is golden”. The clip uses a voiceover amid moments from the Broadway adaptation that says, “No talking. No texting. No singing. No wailing. No flirting. And absolutely no name-calling. Enjoy the magic of movies.” AMC has always advocated for silence, but the premiere of a well-known musical that is likely to dominate the box office has prompted the theater chain to issue a more prominent reminder. It’s also become apparent that singing during showtimes could become an issue, regardless of this warning. Movie theater Fortunately, for those who feel they’ll have a tough time staying silent during musical numbers like “Defying Gravity” and “Popular”, Variety has reported that about 1,000 theaters in North America will offer sing-along screenings of Wicked beginning this Christmas, December 25th, 2024. The number of theaters could change and details aren’t finalized yet, but this feature is ideal for those looking for a more interactive experience. We are headed to a galaxy far, far away to feast on some new menu items! Oga’s Cantina Oga’s Cantina in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge at Disney World recently got some new menu items, and of course, we stopped by to give them a try. Oga’s Cantina is located inside of Disney’s Hollywood Studios. It is a notorious local watering hole owned by Oga Garra that serves up a variety of unique alcoholic drinks and small bites. While you are enjoying your items, you will be entertained by DJ R-3X. Oga’s Cantina is a lively and popular cantina, you may find yourself standing or sitting next to another party, and you are asked to limit your visit to 45 minutes. Oga’s Cantina This Disney World lounge is full of theming, and you really feel like you have stepped into another world. Oga’s just introduced some new menu items, including TWO new snack items, so we did a bit of traveling to Batuu to check them out. Oga’s Cantina Spread To start we grabbed the Umbaran Cheese Roll which costs $12. The cheese roll is spice-dusted pretzel bun stuffed with herbed cheese and a dipping sauce. This guy was crispy on the outside, and fluffy on the inside. It had a great texture and the herbed cheese inside was warm and creamy. This cheese roll did have quite a bit of spice to it, but it wasn’t a crazy amount of heat spiciness. Umbaran Cheese Roll The herbed cheese inside reminded us of a spiced, creamy pimento cheese. It was served with a dipping sauce that tasted like a thin honey mustard sauce. The sweetness of the sauce worked well with the spices from the bread and the creaminess of the cheese. We thought this dish was unique and flavorful. Umbaran Cheese Roll Next, we got the Thruster Roasted Bantha Flatbread for $17. This snack is naan flatbread topped with spiced chorizo beef and a four-cheese blend. We loved the spices you could taste on this flatbread. It had a lot of flavors including hints of cinnamon and nutmeg. While we didn’t taste too much of the cheese, the spiced chorizo and tomato sauce were delicious. The chorizo was juicy and had lots of flavor. Plus, there was lots of it spread all over the flatbread. The tomato sauce added lots of tomato flavor and then the flatbread was topped with a few microgreens. The crust of the flatbread was thin, but soft. It was not crunchy at all and is exactly what you would expect from a piece of naan. It made it a bit difficult to keep the toppings on, but overall, we also really enjoyed this dish. Thruster Roasted Bantha Flatbread Finally, we had to grab one of the new drinks to wash it all down. We got the Nysillin and Bubbles with Brub Berry Essence which costs $18. This drink is made with Empress 1908 Gin, St-Germain Elderflower Liqueur, and blueberry-lime juice topped with tonic water and garnished with an edible hibiscus flower. This drink was on the sweeter side and had lots of fruity flavor to it. Nysillin and Bubbles with Brub Berry Essence The flavors were really well balanced, and the gin was the perfect alcohol choice for this drink. The main flavors we tasted were blueberry and gin, but the lime juice was also there and did a great job of cutting through some of the sweetness of the drink. This drink was really tasty and refreshing. Nysillin and Bubbles with Brub Berry Essence Overall, we really enjoyed the new additions to the menu. Our favorite snack item was probably the Umbaran Cheese Roll because it was a bit more unique, but you can’t go wrong with either of the new snack items. We also enjoyed the Nysillin and Bubbles with Brub Berry Essence and we would definitely get this drink again! In addition to these items, Oga’s Cantina also added a few other new drinks including: the Bloody Rancor with Candied Meat, The Sylop, and the Corellian Spike Cold Brew. Other new drinks were added too! We have eaten everywhere in Disney World, and we aren’t stopping there! Disney World rides seem to be shutting down for refurbishment left and right. Magic Kingdom We want to make sure you are prepared for your upcoming vacation, so here’s a look at what attractions will be closed in December 2024. Swiss Family Treehouse The Swiss Family Treehouse over in Adventureland will be closed for refurbishment from November 18th through December 20th. Swiss Family Treehouse Inspired by the classic 1960 Disney film The Swiss Family Robinson, this is a walk-through attraction that features a 6-story-high treehouse. Once you make it to the top, you get a spectacular view of Adventureland from above. Thankfully the closure is only a month long, but keep this in mind in case your trip brings you to Magic Kingdom on those dates. That’s not the only attraction that will be closed in December, however. Test Track Over at EPCOT, Test Track has been closed since June 17th, 2024, to make way for a brand-new version of the ride. ©Disney Inspired by the opening day version of the attraction, World of Motion, Test Track is expected to reopen once again sometime in 2025. Lightning McQueen’s Racing Academy At Hollywood Studios, Lightning McQueen’s Racing Academy a show based on Cars, closed permanently on October 8th, 2024. Lightning McQueen’s Racing Academy A new show is underway inspired by Disney Villians and is due to debut in the summer of 2025. Voyage of the Little Mermaid Meanwhile, Voyage of the Little Mermaid remains closed at Hollywood Studios as well, postponing its original Fall 2024 opening timeline. Voyage of the Little Mermaid A new, updated show will be gracing the stage, titled “The Little Mermaid — A Musical Adventure.” It is now expected to open in the Summer of 2025. Planning, decorating, and planting this stunning amount takes careful preparation from Disney’s skilled horticulturists who create the beautifully landscaped wonderland that guests know and love during the most wonderful time of the year. At a 3.5 acre-tree farm behind Disney’s Animal Kingdom, horticulturists have been caring for the resort’s plants and flowers for over five decades even before Disney World opened! Disney World has been BUSY decking the halls! Christmas has arrived at Magic Kingdom! We can’t get over all the wreaths, garlands, and Christmas decor and we’ve already had the chance to check out the incredible gingerbread display at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort. But now, we’re heading to a different Disney World hotel to see what sort of decor they’ve donned for the holidays. It’s official! The MASSIVE Christmas tree has finally arrived at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge Resort. We’ve seen holiday displays pop up at the Grand Floridian, Contemporary, and more, but now this huge tree has appeared overnight in the lobby of the Wilderness Lodge. Seriously — just look at how gigantic this thing is! This tree is MASSIVE! The Christmas tree spans multiple stories — here’s a look at it from one of the top floors viewable from the lobby. When we say this thing is massive, we really mean it! There’s a large, four-pointed star at the top of the tree… It spans multiple floors. …and so many adorable details hidden within the ornaments on the tree. Plus, check out how many twinkling lights there are on this bad boy! In keeping with the Wilderness Lodge theme, there are lots of bear ornaments… Adorable details. …and even some adorable little bear figures stationed throughout the lobby. There’s even one climbing a tree — which is especially funny if you remember the Magic Kingdom Bear Incident of September 2023, when an actual, live bear made its way into Magic Kingdom and wreaked havoc. Bears! Wilderness Lodge is a beautiful hotel at any time of the year, but especially so during the holiday season! We love exploring the Disney World hotels around the holidays since they’re all decked out with the most gorgeous trees and decor. Disneyland Paris is an ocean away from Disneyland Resort in Anaheim, California. The theme park is, in many ways, similar to the American Disney parks. Disneyland Paris shares some of the same attractions, characters, and treats. But, given its location and audience, there are some important differences between Disney World, Disneyland, and Disneyland Paris. Disneyland Paris In fact, Disneyland Paris announced a special ticket discount for guests with a disability, with the news coming on the heels of a hotly-debated Disney World disability program change. Could this difference point to a new trend among the international Disney parks? Disney World made headlines when it announced major changes to its Disability Access Service, also known as DAS. The changes focused on a total process overhaul, and as a result, many people found that they no longer qualified for the special DAS accommodations. Partner’s Statue The changes were criticized, though Disney has not commented on the updates since they went live in May 2024. A few months later, Disneyland Paris announced a new option of its own for guests with disabilities. Overview According to the Disneyland Paris website, the company is working on ways to make the parks accessible for everyone, stating, “As we continue to grow and develop our offerings, accessibility and creating a welcoming place for all remains one of our top priorities for our guests, Cast Members and the community.” Disneyland Park Entrance Disneyland Paris offers an accessibility program that provides priority access to up to 58 attractions at Disneyland Park and Walt Disney Studios Park. The website states, “To accomplish this, we empower guests to evaluate their own autonomy and decide which attractions they can experience, depending on attraction safety access conditions and level of autonomy.” Tickets Disneyland Paris recently announced a special-rate Disney Park ticket offer for guests with disabilities. The offer states that those with a disability receive a 25% reduction on the price of a Disney Park Ticket for themselves and one other person. ©Disney To utilize this discount, you must provide proof of disability on the day of your visit. This includes an original copy of valid proof of disability and your ID at the ticket counters to validate your special-rate ticket and retrieve your Priority Card. Then, you must present your Priority Card and park ticket to enter the Disney Parks. Disney states, “If you do not have a valid proof of disability, you will not be able to access the Disney Parks at the special rate.” ©Disneyland Paris There is a list of valid proof of disabilities on the Disneyland Paris website. Visit the “Priority Card request” page to learn more. If you are traveling from the United States, for example, the following documents are accepted: Disability card issued by the US Department of Veterans Affairs Parking Card for Disabled People Other official disability documents issued by the Department of Veterans Affairs Social Security Disability Insurance (SSD) Supplemental Security Income (SSI) VA Disability Compensation Benefits Parking Badge; permanent or temporary Access pass: America The Beautiful Priority Card In the announcement above, Disneyland Paris mentions a “Priority Card.” This is similar to the DAS system in Disney World in that a Priority Card gives you priority (but not immediate) access to attractions, shows, parades, Character meet-and-greets, and the payment counters of our restaurants and shops in the Disney Parks. ©Disney You can request a Priority Card online up to one month before your visit. Disneyland Paris’s system is quite different from the new DAS process in the United States, where you must attend a video call with a Disney Cast Member. This person ultimately determines whether or not you qualify for Disney World’s Disability Access Service benefits and does not require one specific document as proof of disability. Magic Kingdom Now, 2025 is going to be an exciting year for Disney World, with ALL kinds of new stuff coming to the parks like a new Villains show in Hollywood Studios, a Zootopia attraction in Animal Kingdom, a new version of Test Track in EPCOT, a new nighttime parade in Magic Kingdom, and more. However, if you’ll be visiting Disney World in January, we’ve got to warn you about one particular date: January 30th. If you plan on visiting Magic Kingdom on January 30th, 2025, you may want to change your plans. That’s because Magic Kingdom will be closing early on that date, at 4:30PM (yeah, REALLY early). So you won’t be able to see Happily Ever After that evening, and if that’s your only day in Magic Kingdom during your trip, you might be disappointed. If you are visiting that week, we’d suggest visiting Magic Kingdom on any other day. ©Disney Of course, if you have the park hopper option added to your ticket, you can just visit Magic Kingdom that morning and then hop over to another park before it closes. However, we wanted to make sure you were aware of this early closure, just in case. This is why we always recommend keeping an eye on the Disney World calendar for your trip dates, just in case. Magic Kingdom entrance So WHY is Magic Kingdom closing early on that date? Well, this is usually because of some kind of special event, although we couldn’t say for sure. We’ll continue to keep an eye on park hours, though, and let you know if we spot any other early park closures, so stay tuned to DFB for more. It’s one of nearly 100 comfort homes nationwide built by Fisher House Foundation. These warm and welcoming spaces offer complimentary lodging, allowing families to stay close to their loved ones while they are receiving medical care at a nearby hospital. For years, Disney has supported Fisher Houses across the nation through Disney VoluntEARS events like this and more. Renovating Orlando Fisher House’s new outdoor kitchen Our tradition was made even more special this year as we joined teams from both the Fisher House and Orlando VA Medical Center to officially open a new outdoor kitchen area. Disney was honored to provide funding to help renovate this new social grill space that will be a place where families can come together while supporting their heroes who are receiving care. Following the ceremony, expert Disney Chefs helped officially open the newly renovated outdoor patio by serving up a delicious lunch. “It is always a magical day when Disney comes to our Fisher House to spread some Holiday cheer for our guests,” said George Denby, General Manager of Orlando Fisher House. “We are grateful for their generous donation to renovate our outdoor kitchen; this will allow our families to spend more time together and enjoy delicious meals.” In addition to what took place in Florida, Fisher Houses in Hawaii, Los Angeles and Long Beach will also receive some holiday décor and cheer. Okay, is it just us, or is there some overlap between Disney fans and McDonald’s fans? Because, well, we’re both. McDonald’s Maybe it’s because McDonald’s and Disney often partner to bring us fun Disney Happy Meal toys (and we get obsessed with some of the toy collections). Maybe it’s because some of us are old enough to remember eating McDonald’s fries in Disney World (oh, those were the days). Maybe it’s because we visit the world’s largest McDonald’s often, which just happens to be 15 minutes from Disney World. Anyway, that’s why we like to share McDonald’s news with you, and we’ve got a MAJOR update on a popular, but often controversial, sandwich. Okay, so we’re talking about the McRib — either you love it or you hate it (and don’t @ us, but we just don’t see the appeal). However, the McRib is returning to McDonald’s on December 3rd. So if you’ve been waiting to get your hands on the McRib sandwich again, you’ll have your chance SOON. ©McDonald’s The McRib is made with pork, water, salt, dextrose, and rosemary extract and is served as a patty on a bun with barbecue sauce, pickles, and onions. The Disney Treasure is almost ready to set sail with guests on board! Disney Treasure We have been following along with the Treasure’s journey as we prepare for Disney Cruise Line’s sixth ship to take her maiden voyage on December 21st! Disney Cruise Line is known for rotational dining across all of its ships. Each night, your server team will come with you as you rotate to three dining rooms on board the ship. The Disney Treasure will feature three different dining rooms, and recently, we got a sneak peek of them! The Disney Treasure is a sister ship to the Disney Wish and will feature two of the same restaurants found on board. On the Disney Treasure, you will rotate between Plaza de Coco, Worlds of Marvel, and 1923. We got to step inside each of these restaurants during our tour of the Disney Treasure, and we are bringing you all along with us! Worlds of Marvel 1923 Just like on the Disney Wish, you will find 1923 on Deck Three. 1923, is the year that the Walt Disney Company was founded, so to pay homage to its founders, you will either dine in the Walt Disney dining room or the Roy Disney dining room. According to Disney, this restaurant combines “classic Hollywood glamour with a dash of Disney whimsy.” Throughout the restaurant, you will be able to get a look at the evolution of Disney animation over the last century with one thousand drawings, props, and other animation tools. 1923 aboard the Disney Treasure The menu is “Inspired by the fusion of cultural flavors found throughout the Golden State.” We got a look at some of the dishes that will be served in 1923, and they were looking delicious! 1923 on the Disney Treasure There is a Roy Disney side and a Walt Disney side of 1923, and each side is filled with lots of beautiful details and plenty of displays to look at. We spotted this display that has a variety of items from Up including a sketch of Russell, Carl & Ellie’s mailbox, and more. 1923 on the Disney Treasure There was also one with sketches, figurines, and props from Aladdin. 1923 We love the elegant touches throughout the dining area in addition to all the drawings, props, and animation tools. 1923 While 1923 is wonderful, it is just one of the three restaurants you will be rotating through on the Disney Treasure, so let’s move on to the next restaurant! Plaza de Coco Up next is Plaza de Coco, which is the equivalent of Arendelle: A Frozen Dining Adventure aboard the Disney Wish. This Coco-themed restaurant is on Deck Five. Plaza de Coco You get both dinner and a show here, as there will be musical performances by a Mariachi band, plus Miguel will give an appearance! This dining experience will be like a theater-in-the-round; there will be tables surrounding the stage, and performances and show effects will be spread throughout the dining room. Plaza de Coco Dining Room Since seven-night sailings will allow dining in each dining room at least twice, there will be two different nights of unique dining experiences at Plaza de Coco. On the first night in the dining room, “the story of Miguel and his family will continue where it left off on screen as they gather in Mariachi Plaza to take guests on a colorful, music-filled journey that celebrates family memories and togetherness.” On the second night, “Miguel will reunite with his great-great-grandparents, Hector and Mama Imelda, by transporting them to Santa Cecilia with the help of his magic guitar for a Día de los Muertos celebration.” (Kent Phillips, photographer) The menu here will be filled with dishes inspired by the film’s setting, like Chorizo Street Croquettes and Pan-Seared Adobo Spiced Sea Bass. The Mexican-inspired fare will be paired with themed drink options. Dishes at Plaza de Coco The restaurant pays homage to Coco and includes lots of tributes to the iconic film. You will see the Rivera family’s Ofrenda, family photos, colorful papel picados, floral elements, and so much more. You really feel like you are being transported into the movie and it doesn’t get much better than dinner with a show! Rivera family tree framed Now, let’s head to the last of the three restaurants that are a part of the rotational dining on the Disney Treasure. Worlds of Marvel Worlds of Marvel will also be aboard the Disney Treasure as it is on the Disney Wish. The restaurant is also an immersive dining experience that will have you going on adventures with Marvel characters while dining. The Disney Treasure will feature Avengers: Quantum Encounter, which is on the Disney Wish as well. Worlds of Marvel The Treasure will get a brand-new show called “Marvel Celebration of Heroes: Groot Remix,” which will be based on the Guardians of the Galaxy. This dinner show will be a totally immersive dining experience where Groot will bring diners along for a screen-based quest to throw a surprise party for Rocket Raccoon. While you dine, a Starlord-approved awesome mixtape of songs will play! Worlds of Marvel The menu is inspired by the iconic locations and characters of the Marvel Universe including dishes inspired by Wakanda, Sokovia (home of Quicksilver and The Scarlet Witch), and New York. Worlds of Marvel food These three restaurants are sure to provide an incredible meal, along with some great entertainment.
