  1. Okay, we get it — it’s no fun when your favorite Disney ride closes for refurbishment, especially if that closure happens during your planned trip. Disneyland It happens all the time, though. Rides have to close for much-needed maintenance, although sometimes rides get big updates during their closure (or entire re-themes). One classic Disneyland ride is scheduled to close soon for what’s probably a basic refurbishment, but now we know when that ride will reopen. We know A LOT of attention has been given to Big Thunder Mountain Railroad in Disney World because it’s got a yearlong closure coming up starting in 2025 — and fans have a LOT of questions about that big project. However, ANOTHER version of that ride will be closing SOON for what’s expected to be some basic maintenance and updates. Yep, that’s right, Big Thunder Mountain Railroad in DISNEYLAND is scheduled to close on November 18th. Big Thunder Mountain at Disneyland The good news is that this closure seems to be short. When we looked at the calendar for the ride on the Disneyland website, it showed that Big Thunder Mountain Railroad would reopen on December 13th. So, the closure will only be around a month (and as we know, Disney often reopens rides a little ahead of schedule, so it could be a little earlier). ©Disney So, what’s the difference between the ride in Disneyland and Disney World? Well, the story is a bit different: you’ve got a flood that happened to destroy the town in Disney World, but appropriately enough, it was an earthquake in the Disneyland ride. Also, many will tell you that the ride in Disneyland is smoother, and there are some cool special effects during the ride that Disney World doesn’t have (but we hope those effects get added during that yearlong closure). If you’re looking to grab a ride on the Wildest Ride in the Wilderness on the West Coast, you need to keep those dates in mind. Stay tuned to DFB for more. 2. Since the 2020 closures, Disney World has been treating its water parks a little differently. Typhoon Lagoon Before 2020, both water parks, Blizzard Beach and Typhoon Lagoon, would be open at the same time throughout the summer, and then one would close in the winter for refurbishment. Nowadays, when one water park is open, the other is closed, and they switch out all year long, regardless of the season. As we’re headed into the winter season, it’s time for these two parks to swap out once again! Blizzard Beach Blizzard Beach closed for refurbishment on March 17th so that Typhoon Lagoon would be open for the spring and summer. Blizzard Beach Entrance Now, it’s about time for Blizzard Beach’s return. Disney announced that Blizzard Beach will be reopening on November 4th, and Typhoon Lagoon will be closing! That means this week, Blizzard Beach will open, making it the water park that will likely be available when the resort guest perk of a free water park day begins in 2025. So, if you want to go to Blizzard Beach, it might be worth waiting to visit until the beginning of 2025 when you can go for FREE! Click here to learn all about Blizzard Beach Don’t get caught heading to the wrong water park this week! And be on the lookout for the other remaining closures around Disney World the week of November 2nd through November 9th. Magic Kingdom Frontierland Shootin’ Arcade We had to say goodbye to an opening day attraction on June 23rd. Frontierland Shootin’ Arcade The Frontierland Shootin’ Arcade was around for generations and provided simple fun to all who played. Now, the attraction has closed to make room for a new Disney Vacation Club lounge. This lounge will be the third in Disney World, joining one in EPCOT and one at Disney’s Contemporary Resort. Disney has not yet announced when the new lounge will open. In Just ONE WEEK We’ll See a HUGE Change at Magic Kingdom! Tomorrowland Terrace Tomorrowland Terrace is a quick-service restaurant that has been closed since the 2020 pandemic-related closures, but even before that, this spot was only occasionally open. Tomorrowland Terrace Once in a while, you’ll see the dining room open as a rest area (and it’s still being used for the Magic Kingdom Fireworks Dessert Parties), but it’s usually all roped off and empty. Beautiful view from Tomorrowland Terrace Disney hasn’t announced when this spot could finally reopen, but we’ll be watching for updates. If you’re looking for a nice spot to hang out in Disney World and sit down for a rest, this could be it! I Ate at the Worst-Reviewed Magic Kingdom Restaurant on Yelp EPCOT Test Track Test Track closed on June 17th, and Disney is giving this ride a BIG makeover! Test Track concept art ©Disney Disney has shared that the new version of Test Track will take inspiration from the old ride, World of Motion, that was originally there when the park opened in 1982. Disney recently shared more details at D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Experience, including an opening timeline! We’ll be able to ride Test Track once again in 2025. HURRY! EPCOT’s Candlelight Processional Dining Packages Are Available Online NOW! Restaurant Marrakesh Restaurant Marrakesh is currently closed as a dining location in the Morocco pavilion of EPCOT’s World Showcase, and there’s no word yet on when the restaurant could fully reopen. Restaurant Marrakesh However, it is currently open as the Florida Blue Lounge during the EPCOT Food and Wine Festival. So, if you’re in the Morocco Pavilion, check it out to see if it’s open. We’re watching for updates on when the full restaurant could reopen! Not Even the TRAINS Are Safe in EPCOT’s Tiny Train Town Hollywood Studios Lightning McQueen’s Racing Academy The Cars-themed show featuring Lighting McQueen permanently closed on October 8th, 2024, to make way for a brand-new Villains show. Sunset Showcase The show was previously housed in the Sunset Showcase building, but the last day for guests to enjoy it was October 7th. The new Villains show is supposed to debut in the summer of 2025! We’re watching for more details about the new show. Read about the NEW Villains show coming to Disney’s Hollywood Studios! Voyage of the Little Mermaid Voyage of the Little Mermaid is currently closed in Disney World. But we recently spotted some construction walls up at the building along with a new permit filed! Voyage of the Little Mermaid Disney is going to introduce a new, updated show in this spot, though it will still be themed to the animated movie The Little Mermaid! The new show will be called “The Little Mermaid — A Musical Adventure,” and it is now coming to Disney’s Hollywood Studios in Summer 2025. The Little Mermaid: A Musical Adventure Disney still hasn’t announced an official opening date for the new show, but it has been postponed from its Fall 2024 opening timeline. It will be a “fully reimagined theatrical production inspired by the Walt Disney Animation Studios classic.” NEW LOOK at “The Little Mermaid” Show Coming to Disney’s Hollywood Studios! Disney World Hotels Everything POP Shopping & Dining — Disney’s Pop Century Resort The Everything Pop Food Court will continue its refurbishment for the time being. Everything Pop Since July 29th, Everything Pop has been getting some work done. The refurbishment was supposed to end on September 29th. However, Disney updated the refurbishment timeline to extend it to November. This means the food court should have been back to full and normal operation, but that’s not the case. However, we did stop by and noticed a few updates — it’s looking really good so far! Guests can grab food at several counters and on mobile order, as well as use the limited seating while work is being done. World Premiere Food Court — Disney’s All-Star Movies Resort The World Premiere Food Court at Disney’s All-Star Movies Resort has been undergoing refurbishment since July. World Premiere Food Court This food court closed for refurbishment on July 1st and was set to reopen on July 31st. However, a change on the Disney World website and speaking with Cast Members has indicated that did not happen. Disney updated the website to say it won’t open until mid-October. Currently, the Disney World website lists the Rialto coffee shop as being closed for refurbishment until the end of November 2024. While it has been getting a face-lift, guests have been able to mobile order from a limited menu on the Disney World app, and seating in the food court is still available. 3. Does Magic Kingdom really have the worst quick service food? Cinderella Castle This is a hotly debated topic, and even here on the DFB team, people have differing opinions. But to truly answer that question, we’ve got to do some unbiased reviews of the various dining options. So today, I’m taking you along with me to The Friar’s Nook! Atmosphere This walk-up spot in Fantasyland is located between Princess Fairytale Hall and Storybook Treats. It’s located entirely outdoors with counters for ordering and pickup, as well as a small seating area. The Friar’s Nook There are multiple ordering stations, some of which are dedicated to Mobile Order pickup. The regular stations each include a side for ordering and a side for picking up your food. Menus are posted out front with some pictures of the items. The counters As far as seating goes, it’s a smidge disappointing here. There’s a small group of about a dozen tables next to the restaurant, but it’s the only seating in the area, and people grabbing snacks from Storybook Treats tend to use it as well. Therefore, it’s pretty much always packed. Seating In fact, once I picked up my own food, I had to head over to Pinocchio Village Haus to eat it. There were plenty of outdoor tables available over there! (That’s a pretty good seating hack if you need it.) Seating And of course, it wouldn’t be a quick service restaurant without a condiment and utensil station. They’ve got a variety of toppings for your hot dogs and tots, as well as some coffee creamers and sugars available. Condiment station Now let’s chat about that menu because I’ve got some things to SAY! Menu Sadly, Disney REALLY pared down the menu at The Friar’s Nook in the summer of 2024, and I have not yet personally gotten over the loss. This place used to be known for loaded tots and brats, but now there are only a couple of items to choose from. Currently, the restaurant is down to ONE form of loaded tots — the Cheddar, Bacon, and Ranch Tots. Another unique item you’ll find here is the Mac & Cheese Hand Pie. Besides that, you can order a regular hot dog, or Tiana’s Famous Beignets, which are available at a few locations around the park. Menu There is no longer a kids’ menu at this restaurant, and you can’t order the plain tots with cheese sauce anymore (). However, they do have a pretty hefty selection of drinks. You can get fountain beverages, hot tea, coffee (including Joffrey’s Shakin’ Jamaican), and a Strawberry Lemonade Slush. More items I grabbed a few of the basics to test them out, so let’s dive in! Eats We reviewed the Mac & Cheese Hand Pie a few months ago (click here for that review!), so I ordered the tots, the hot dog, the beignets, and the slush…and that’s almost the entire menu right there. The spread! Starting out with the Strawberry Lemonade Slush, you can snag this for $6.49. They’ll serve you this drink right away after you order, so be warned that it will probably melt quickly while you wait on your food (unless you Mobile Order). Strawberry Lemonade Slush Honestly, this was surprisingly good! It tastes just like the Minute Maid frozen strawberry lemonade cups you can buy at the ice cream carts around the park, except it was MUCH easier to consume. It’s cold, smooth, and has a nice blend of strawberry and lemon flavors that’s quite refreshing. I would totally order it again! Strawberry Lemonade Slush Now on to the star of the show (lol, jk), the Hot Dog with tots! This is $10.79 and is pretty much the most basic theme park meal ever. The hot dog comes plain, but you have a great choice of prepackaged condiments to jazz it up with. Hot Dog The tots were nice and fresh with a little crispiness to them, but this hot dog let me down. You’ll typically find two types of hot dogs in Disney World — ones that are regular-sized like you get at the grocery store, and then ones that are like this one — giant one-inch beef logs. It seriously tastes like an oversized beef stick (you know, the ones that come in the pack with the cheese stick?) and if that’s your vibe, go for it. But for me, it was kind of overwhelmingly beefy. If you’re going to get a hot dog in Magic Kingdom, I’d sooner recommend you order one of the loaded dogs from Casey’s Corner. They’re the same as this one, but they’ve got toppings to make them more exciting. Just a regular ol’ hot dog Now on to the item I’ve been waiting for, the Cheddar, Bacon, and Ranch Tots for $10.49. These are tater tots topped with ranch dressing, cheese sauce, bacon bits, and green onions. And the portion? It’s HUGE. Loaded tots Honestly, the portion is my main complaint here. I wish they served these in a snack size, because it was easy to get sick of the flavors before you finish the dish. The cheese is wonderfully melty and cheesy (perfect Disney plastic cheese), the ranch has a nice tang, and the onions add some sharpness. But there’s a LOT of bacon bits and they’re not the highest quality, so you end up getting that flavor pretty prominently at the bottom of the bowl. If they served a half portion of this for a cheaper price, it would be perfect! YUM Last but not least, we’ve got dessert! These are Tiana’s Famous Beignets for $6.99. They’re topped with powdered sugar and honey, which means they are an absolute mess to eat. Seriously, I depleted my stash of wet wipes here. Tiana’s Famous Beignets To me, these were definitely not as good as Mickey beignets from Port Orleans — French Quarter. They’re a bit tough on the outside, which makes them hard to bite and chew without spewing powdered sugar all over the place. The honey adds a nice flavor profile, but it’s quite messy. And the beignets themselves were pretty unsweet — they’re relying too heavily on the powdered sugar and the honey on the outside. (I know beignets are typically not as sweet as other kinds of doughnuts but these were particularly bland in the dough.) Inside the beignets So how did Friar’s Nook do? Let’s talk about it. Overall I went into this review incredibly excited because I used to love grabbing a snack at this restaurant. However, since they pared down their menu, their offerings just aren’t hitting as hard for me. I really wish they’d add one or two more loaded tot options and make them all snack-sized. Loaded tots They also probably need one more meat-based option on the menu here that isn’t a plain hot dog. At this point, I would recommend Friar’s Nook for a fun snack, but probably not a great option for your full meal. Nosh or Not? Visit the Friar for a tasty treat if… You just want to grab a snack. Most of the items on the menu here are snacks, even if the loaded tots are a truly shareable portion. If you want a quick pick-me-up, this is a great spot. You want a quick beverage. Stopping by here to grab a beverage is an easy and quick transaction, especially if you want to avoid those lines for morning coffee at Starbucks and Joffrey’s. You just really want to try one of the unique items. If you’re interested in the hand pie or the loaded tots, this is where you’ve got to go — those snacks aren’t available anywhere else. Skip seeing the Friar and find sustenance elsewhere if… You want an air-conditioned meal or a seat. This restaurant is both outdoors and limited on seating, which means it can be a bit miserable during the summertime. If you’d like to sit down inside, I recommend heading to Pinocchio Village Haus instead. You have picky eaters. The menu here isn’t broad enough to encompass picky eaters, with just four main food options. You have kids. There are no kids’ meal options here, and the main basic item is just a hot dog. You’ll be able to find better meals for your littles at other spots! The Friar! So there you have it — that’s my full review of The Friar’s Nook! Thanks for coming along with me. 8. Disney is setting records…though not in the way you might like. Haunted Mansion Lightning Lane Ever since Disney changed its skip-the-line system over to Lightning Lane Multi Pass and Lightning Lane Single Pass, we’ve seen fluctuating prices for the passes at Disney World’s theme parks. Now, the first weekend of November is smashing through the previous highs. The weekend of November 1st through the 3rd is typically going to be a busy one for Disney World, coming just after Halloween and just at the start of the resort’s holiday season celebrations, and Lightning Lane prices across the board reflect that. The Lightning Lane Multi Pass cost a whopping $35 at the Magic Kingdom on Friday before dropping to the still-quite-high $32 on Saturday, November 2nd, and Sunday, November 3rd. EPCOT costs $24, $26, and $24 for each respective day of the weekend, while Hollywood Studios costs $29, $32, and $29. Animal Kingdom, while the cheapest of Lightning Lane Multi Passes for the weekend, still set a park record of $22 on November 2nd while costing $19 on both the 1st and the 3rd. Lightning Lane We’ve been tracking the prices of Disney’s Lightning Lane Multi and Single Passes ever since they went live. In fact, we have a full list of the current November prices! For most of the month of November, the prices range from $27–$35 per person in Magic Kingdom. It’s certainly not a cheap time of year to visit Disney World! November Prices CONFIRMED for Disney World’s Lightning Lane System These record-breaking Lightning Lane Multi Pass prices come the same week that Disney introduced the new — and somewhat controversial — Lightning Lane Premier Pass. The prices vary depending on the theme park and date (but so far, passes are roughly in the $140 to $350 range). The Premier Pass “allows one-time entry to each Lightning Lane experience in a theme park” without the hassle of pre-booking each Lightning Lane reservation. Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway Lightning Lane Disney is setting Lightning Lane Multi Pass price records this weekend. However, given the busy holiday season coming up, it seems unlikely that they’ll stand for long. Stay tuned for more Lightning Lane price updates. 9. The Magic Kingdom Christmas tree is here! Santa Claus is coming to town, the first Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party is coming soon, and even the skippers at the Jungle Cruise are ready to celebrate the holiday season. The tree has arrived in Magic Kingdom! That’s right! One of our favorite holiday overlays is officially BACK for the season — the Jungle Cruise transformed into the Jingle Cruise, and we went bright and early to check it out. In case you’re new here, the Jingle Cruise is a festive little adventure through the jungle, and your journey around the world is captained by a trusty skipper with a great sense of humor. It’s a fun time — don’t forget to keep your eyes out for the world-famous backside of water! Jingle Cruise is BACK! OK, so what makes the Jingle Cruise different than the Jungle Cruise? Well, a key vowel, for starters. Let’s take a ride! OK, jokes aside, Disney goes ALL OUT on the holiday decorations at the Jingle Cruise. Even the queue is filled with holiday cheer! This is so fun! The line can get pretty long to ride this attraction, but the good news is that there’s plenty to look at while you wait. A little boat modification for the holidays It looks like the Jingle Cruise skippers know how to celebrate the season! Happy holidays! We won’t spoil the rest of the ride — you’ll have to go and visit for yourself if you want to see what’s happening deep in the jungles of Adventureland. This ride is so fun! If you’re looking for more holiday cheer around Disney World, there’s a LOT to see and do. Nearby, the epic Gingerbread House display is coming to life at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort, and EPCOT announced a BUNCH of new additions as part of its annual International Festival of the Holidays event. Spoiler alert: there’s gonna be a GINGERBREAD SPACESHIP EARTH. ©Disney Happy holidays, everyone! In the meantime, we’re always on the lookout for the latest Disney news, so stay tuned for more. 10. Hold up. Can you believe it? It’s almost 2025 and that means your Disney World trip is just about here!! Disney’s Animal Kingdom You’ll definitely want to keep an eye on the 2025 calendar so that you know what’s happening at the parks and if you need to catch any events. Also, there’s nothing like planning ahead and missing out on the crowds! To those points, we’re here with a helping hand because we want you to know about all the best times to come to Disney World in 2025! Hear me when I say that the “best time” to visit Disney World is highly subjective, meaning that perfect time is different for everyone. That being said, there are specific times throughout the year when the crowd have thinned a bit and the weather is just perfect! After the holidays and on into February This is when the holiday crowds are gone, kids are back in school, and the parks are somewhat “peaceful” again. Don’t even get us started on that January and February weather. It’s like the chef’s kiss on those long parks days on your feet. January Crowds Also, this is when the ride wait times are some of the shortest of the year. The ticket prices also become a little more budget-friendly. Around the first week of March If you find January and February to be a little bit cold (I see you native Floridians!), you’ll want to head to Disney World from late February to that first week of March. It’s your time to shine! The temperatures are quite nice and the crowds tend to be pretty manageable. Liberty Square in March The ticket prices from around the beginning of March are also pretty reasonable, which makes it a really good time to explore the parks without all the craziness. After Easter and on into early May It’s Spring at Disney World and that means Easter is behind us (and so are those spring break crowds too)! The weather is also just so perfect which makes it the best time to visit during EPCOT’s Flower and Garden Festival. Spring is here! The weather isn’t the only thing that great about this time. The ticket prices are also typically reasonable (dare-we-say budget-friendly??). After Easter and into May basically checks off all the boxes. Last week of August Let’s just be honest and say we’re thrilled that school is back in session in Florida during this time which means the crowds have really thinned out (yay for shorter wait times!). Magic Kingdom Summer Crowds in August The only thing you do have to keep in mind is that August is the start of the hurricane season for Florida (technically from June – November). Disney World sometimes closes or shifts hours for hurricanes. 2024 was quite a year for that (Helene and Milton), so just keep it in mind and keep an eye on the weather forecast. Disney World before Hurricane Helene Overall, the weather, crowds, and the ticket prices are all pretty manageable in late August. From early to mid-November I know you love the holidays at Disney World (we do too!) and there might not be a better time to experience both Halloween and Christmas decor than from early to mid-November. Holiday decorations on Main Street, U.S.A. Also, the crowd level tends to thin out, which helps relax the mood. Don’t even get us started about the temperature. Mid-60’s to mid-70’s feels downright glorious for all the walking you’ll do in Disney World. The first two weeks of December I know we just talked about the holidays, but if Christmas at Disney World is your thing and you don’t jive with the crowds, you can get the best of the holiday season during these two weeks. You’ll be able to experience all the festive decor all around Disney World. The Holidays in Magic Kingdom The temperature in December rides from the 50s to the 70s, which is downright delightful if you’re headed to Magic Kingdom to enjoy Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party. Also, ticket prices and crowd levels tend to spike during the Christmas and New Year’s weeks. New attractions in 2025 Go to a water park for free First up, let’s talk about a brand-new perk for you starting in 2025! If you will be staying at one of the Disney-owned hotels, you’ll be able to get FREE entrance into one of Disney World’s water parks on the day you check in to your hotel! That means, when you check in, you can then go and hit up either Typhoon Lagoon or Blizzard Beach (depending on which one is open during your trip) without needing a ticket. Typhoon Lagoon Make sure to take advantage of this if you and your crew are interested in a pool day on your check-in day! 2 NEW Perks For Your 2025 Disney World Hotel Stay There’s a new Zootopia show! Sometimes we have to say goodbye to attractions in Disney World. In 2025, the “It’s Tough to be a Bug” show in Animal Kingdom’s Tree of Life is getting replaced by a brand-new Zootopia-themed show called “Zootopia: Better Zoogether!” Your favorite characters from the film like Judy Hopps, Nick Wilde, and more will be taking you “on an adventure through different biomes seen in the film.” ©Disney Winter 2025 is the current timeline for when the show will debut, so you might want to hit up Disney World during the holidays to be among the first to see it. Read more about the new Zootopia show A new nighttime parade in Magic Kingdom There’s a new nighttime parade in Magic Kingdom coming and we couldn’t be more excited!! It will be called “Disney Starlight,” and will be wowing us by using “the latest technology” to tell new stories about our favorite classic Disney characters. ©Disney We truly can’t wait to catch glimpses of those illuminated floats when Disney Starlight premieres in summer 2025. Read more about Disney Starlight Test Track 3.0 We are “patiently” waiting while Test Track undergoes it’s reimagining with a completely new theme, scenes, and more! Now, we don’t yet know what all the new ride will feature, except for some concept art teasing a nod to World of Motion. ©Disney As we said, everything about this ride will be changing — even the exterior entrance to the ride! Its reopening in 2025 can’t come soon enough! What Will Disney World Change at Test Track? Here Are the 5 Biggest Theories There’s a new villains-themed show coming to Hollywood Studios The new doesn’t stop yet. There will be a Disney Villains new show in Hollywood Studios set to open in summer 2025. It will take place in what is now the Lightning McQueen’s Racing Academy and will transform the space into the “mysterious reflective realm of the Magic Mirror.” ©Disney We can’t wait to see the performances by our favorite baddies like Cruella de Vil, Captain Hook, and Maleficent! Learn More About A NEW Villains Show Is Coming to Disney World “The Little Mermaid” in Hollywood Studios Summer 2025 is already stacked, but you’ll also be able to look forward to a new show called “The Little Mermaid — A Musical Adventure” coming to Disney’s Hollywood Studios! It will open in the summer of 2025. The Little Mermaid: A Musical Adventure The new show will be a reimagined show inspired by the original animated classic from Walt Disney Animation Studios. “The Little Mermaid — A Musical Adventure” will premiere at the Animation Courtyard theater. When it opens, we can expect musical numbers like “Part of Your World,” “Poor Unfortunate Souls,” and “Kiss the Girl!” There’s a pirate lounge! While you’re kicking it at Magic Kingdom, you’ll also be able to hang out with pirates at the Pirates of the Caribbean Tavern. Pirates of all ages are encouraged to “gather to tell their tales!” ©Disney This spot is going to have some ridiculously fun pirate-inspired drinks and treats, and we can’t wait until it opens in 2025. The MILLION Dollar Question: Will The New Pirates of the Caribbean Tavern in Disney World Serve Alcohol? Visit a Spaceship Earth-themed lounge because why not? Talking about lounges, over in EPCOT, Disney is creating a lounge inspired by Spaceship Earth! The lounge will have a sleek look inspired by the “stories, shapes and enduring legacy” of Spaceship Earth. ©Disney While this new lounge won’t be inside of Spaceship Earth, it will still be pretty awesome when it opens in 2025! Lightning Lane In case you missed it, over the summer, Genie+ transformed into Lightning Lane Multi Pass, and Individual Lightning Lane switched over to Lighting Lane Single Pass. This change helped clear up some naming confusion and the new system mimics its predecessor FastPass+. Now, there is a third Lightning Lane option available, and some people have very strong feelings about it. The third option is Lightning Lane Premier Pass, which debuted at Disney World on October 30th. This new pass is only available in very limited quantities, and only those staying at Deluxe Disney World Resorts and other select hotels can purchase it. Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort is a Deluxe Resort The biggest perk of Premier Pass is that it gives you access to every single Lightning Lane within a park at one time. You do not need to select a return time; you can get into the Lightning Lane line for each attraction at any time throughout the day. The pricing of this new option is what caught people off guard. The price range for each park is as follows: Magic Kingdom: $329-$449 plus tax Disney’s Animal Kingdom: $129-$199 plus tax EPCOT: $169-$249 plus tax Disney’s Hollywood Studios: $269-$349 plus tax Pricing changes based on the demand and the time of year. ©Disney Many Disney fans were upset at the way this new Lightning Lane is priced, but we are here to give you a loving reality check: Disney does not actually want you to buy this new Lightning Lane option for a few reasons. Lightning Lane It is Only Sold in Limited Quantities To start, Premier Pass can only be purchased by a select number of guests. You must stay at a Disney World Deluxe Resort or other select hotels to even be given the opportunity to purchase Premier Pass. Even if you are a guest of a Deluxe Resort, you are still not guaranteed to be able to buy Premier Pass since it is only sold in limited quantities. The Grand Floridian is a Deluxe Resort Disney is purposefully selling Premier Pass this way to limit the number of people who can or even feel like they need to buy this new Lightning Lane. If they were really trying to turn Premier Pass into the only Lightning Lane option, it would be available to everyone. The BoardWalk Inn is a Deluxe Resort There Are Still Two Other Options The price of Premier Pass may seem high, but it can actually be used as a marketing tactic to make Lightning Lane Multi and Single Pass look better. Disney knows that people remember the days of free FastPass+, and it has been a hard adjustment to start paying for a group of rides as well as rides individually. Lightning Lane at Haunted Mansion The price point of Premier Pass makes Lightning Lane Multi and Single Pass seem cheaper and more affordable. So, if you are looking to skip the line, you can still use the other two Lightning Lane options as an alternative. Lightning Lane It is a Cheaper Alternative to VIP Tours Disney World offers VIP Tours where a Cast Member will take you and your party around the parks and through all the Lighting Lanes you wish. VIP Tours can be very pricey and only feel worth it if you bring enough people on the tour to bring the cost down. VIP Tours Premier Pass is a great way to allow those in smaller parties to get one of the biggest perks of a VIP Tour on their own for a fraction of the price. VIP Tours can also sell out, especially as we approach the busy holiday season. So, if you were planning on booking a VIP Tour but the date you want is sold out, Premier Pass can be a great backup, so long as you are staying at a Deluxe Resort or other select hotel. Chatting with a tour guide You are Not Required to Purchase It Premier Pass is a luxury offering, and that is why it is priced so high. Just like Lightning Lane Multi and Single Pass, you do not need to purchase them as they are an add-on option. Disney World still offers a stand-by line or Virtual Queue (Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind and Tiana’s Bayou Adventure still use this service) for all of its attractions. Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind All three Lightning Lane options are designed to help you save time waiting in line, but you are not required to purchase them. You can still ride attractions at the price of your park ticket without any additional fees. Mad Tea Party Lightning Lane You Can Still Plan Your Day Around Return Times Lightning Lane Premier Pass has only been available for a limited time, and as we mentioned, the biggest perk is that you do not need a return time to ride an attraction. This helps give you more flexibility to do what you want, when you want, without worrying about a return time. Lightning Lane But trust us, it is still 100% possible to have control and flexibility over your day with both Lightning Lane Multi and Single Pass, even with their return times. Since you can book your Lightning Lanes in advance, you can choose times that work best for you. You can also always refresh the app for more return times or edit your selections to fit into your day. Lightning Lane What we are trying to say is that even when FastPass+ was around, people were able to control still and have flexibility over their day. While Lightning Lane Premier Pass can give you more flexibility, we have plenty of tips on how to make Lightning Lane Multi and Single Pass work for you! While Lightning Lane Premier Pass is expensive, there are still other alternatives, and this new Lighting Lane option is not even available to everyone. So rest assured, Disney is actually pushing you not to purchase Premier Pass. Lightning Lane For more Disney news, tips, and updates, continue to follow along with Disney Food Blog! 13. Disney World will be undergoing a bunch of changes over the next several years. Sunset Showcase Some attractions will be closing to make way for new ones coming. Recently, Lightning McQueen’s Racing Academy at Disney’s Hollywood Studios closed its doors for the last time as a brand-new Villains show will be coming to Sunset Showcase. The new show is set to premiere next summer, and we have a new update! Disney has shared a look at the new Villains Show at the Sunset Showcase building at Hollywood Studios. The new show will feature some of your favorite Disney Villains, such as Cruella de Vil, Captain Hook, and Maleficent, and will transform the stage into the “mysterious, reflective realm of the Magic Mirror.” ©Disney Since its announcement, we haven’t heard any new updates about the new show. But now, we spotted what might be a clue that Disney is working hard behind the scenes to ensure this show comes to life by summer 2025. New casting calls have been added to the Disney Careers website seeking two female performers and one male performer for Cruella de Vil, Captain Hook, and Maleficent! ©Disney Online submissions are due by November 15th and must include a monologue and a cut of music. These three villains will likely be the stars of the new show, and naturally, we can expect some musical numbers! In order to apply, you must be 18 years old and authorized to work in the United States. ©Disney This is one step forward in getting this new show up and running! While it means that Lightning McQueen’s Racing Academy had to close on October 7th, Disney Villains are moving into Disney World for good. Along with the new villains show, a whole new Villains Land will be coming to Magic Kingdom in the next few years. Now is a good time to be “bad” at Disney World! 15. Skeleton Crew is almost here! ©Disney Disney just released a new trailer for the latest upcoming Star Wars Disney+ series, The Skeleton Crew! This new collection of scenes debuted several months after the first trailer and about a month before the first episode of the series is scheduled to air. It lays out the initial plot of the series, and it looks pretty epic. According to Disney, the series, which is scheduled to debut on December 3rd, “follows the journey of four kids who make a mysterious discovery on their seemingly safe home planet, then get lost in a strange and dangerous galaxy, crossing paths with the likes of Jod Na Nawood, the mysterious character played by (Jude) Law. Finding their way home—and meeting unlikely allies and enemies—will be a greater adventure than they ever imagined.” ©Disney The series stars Jude Law, Ravi Cabot-Conyers, Ryan Kiera Armstrong, Kyriana Kratter, Robert Timothy Smith, Tunde Adebimpe, Kerry Condon, and Nick Frost. Behind the scenes, the series’ writing staff was led by Jon Watts and Christopher Ford, while directors include Watts, David Lowery, the Daniels (Daniel Kwan and Daniel Scheinert), Jake Schreier, Bryce Dallas Howard, and Lee Isaac Chung. How To Watch Every ‘Star Wars’ Movie and TV Show In Chronological Order Skeleton Crew is executive-produced by Watts, Ford, Jon Favreau, Dave Filoni, Kathleen Kennedy, and Colin Wilson and the Co-Executive Producers are Chris Buongiorno, Karen Gilchrist, and Carrie Beck. ©Disney Star Wars: Skeleton Crew is scheduled to premiere on Disney+ on December 3rd. 16. Are you getting ready for your next trip to Disney World? RIDE THE RAILS!! Maybe you’re starting to get your packing on now that you’ve finalized the other plans like your airline and hotel reservations. Now, we understand how stressful it can be to pack for the trip, especially if you’re double and triple-checking your list to make sure you’re not forgetting anything. We’re here for you. The last thing we want is for you to feel like you’ve forgotten anything, so let’s talk about the parks bag mistake that everyone makes in Disney World so that you won’t have to! DISCLOSURE: This post may contain affiliate links, meaning when you click the links and make a purchase, we receive a commission. As we were saying, you would be surprised by how many people get it wrong when it comes to packing for Disney World, and that’s what we don’t want to have happen to you. Here are the park bag blunders to avoid, plus some smart packing tips to keep your trip magical. Overpacking Like You’re Going on a Disney Survival Trek Let’s be real. Disney World days are no joke on your feet and your stamina, but you’re still in a theme park, not the wild wilderness. Sure, it might be tempting to pack every single thing you could ever hope to have or need, but that bag gets heavy fast. Here’s the thing: your bag might feel okay at the hotel room, but after mile 5, 6, or 10 (and believe me, you’ll hit that), it starts feeling like you’re carrying a case of bricks! ©Amazon The solution is to pack like a minimalist. Consider what you actually need. If you’re heading for a casual day at Magic Kingdom, you can totally get by with a small belt bag or a compact Loungefly backpack. These bags force you to pack only the essentials, and you’ll thank yourself when you’re not constantly readjusting a heavy load on your shoulders. A habit you might want to form is that before you leave the hotel room, ask yourself, “Will I use this multiple times today?” If the answer is no, then consider leaving it out of the bag. Now, let me talk about a couple of our favorite bags that you could consider. Cherry Sauce Oxford Ita Shoulder Bag Pin trading is so fun! If you love a lightweight and compact backpack for your essentials, and you love pin trading, there’s no better bag for you than this Cherry Sauce Oxford Ita Shoulder Bag! Grab it here! Mini Belt Bag ©Amazon Around these parts, we love a good Mini Belt Bag! Honestly, there might not be a better way to carry your light park essentials and be handsfree. Grab it here! Loungefly Exclusive Disney Stickers All Over Print Mini Backpack We love this backpack! If you want to get a mini bag that’s sturdy and fashionable, check out this Loungefly Exclusive Disney Stickers All Over Print Mini Backpack! We love ours. They’re really the perfect parks companion. Grab it here! A habit you might want to form is that before you leave the hotel room, ask yourself, “Will I use this multiple times today?” If the answer is no, then consider leaving it out of the bag. Not Bringing Enough Water (or a Refillable Bottle) Walking around in the Florida sun is no joke (there’s not a ton of shade at Disney World), and dehydration can sneak up on you much, much faster than you think. One common mistake is not bringing enough water or even assuming you’ll buy bottles as you go. Water with Lemon But here’s the deal. Disney World water is free! You can stop by any quick-service counter and ask for a cup of water, or better yet, bring a refillable water bottle and save yourself the hassle (and expense) of buying multiple plastic bottles throughout the day. Owala water bottle Staying hydrated will help you avoid headaches, fatigue, and feeling sluggish by the time you’re in line for your favorite ride. Plus, having your own refillable bottle is pretty eco-friendly and wallet-friendly. And who doesn’t love an excuse to show off their cute Disney-themed water bottle? Get an Owala on Amazon Leaving the Portable Charger Behind This is a big one! Between snapping all those must-have photos, using the My Disney Experience app for ride times and mobile orders, and maybe even squeezing in a quick phone call, your phone battery will drain fast. The last thing you want is to end up at 5% with no way to navigate the park or keep in touch with your group. FuelRod A small, lightweight charger will save you a lot of stress. Bring one that’s fully charged, and you’ll be able to power up your phone while you’re waiting in line. Get a FuelRod on Amazon here! Bringing Your Entire Wallet It’s really easy to toss your whole wallet in your bag without a second thought, but do you actually need all 20 of your loyalty cards at Disney World? Nope, and you definitely don’t want to risk losing your whole wallet if it slips out of a ride pouch. Nightmare Before Christmas Loungefly wallet Our advice is to slim it down. Stick to the essentials — your ID, one or two credit cards, and some cash. You’ll feel way better knowing you’re not lugging around everything. If you have a MagicBand, you can even link it to a credit card and your park tickets, so you can even leave more behind. Skipping First Aid Essentials Blisters, headaches, or an accidental scrape can totally throw off your Disney groove, which is why we feel it’s a good idea to have a mini first-aid kit on hand. First Aid Kit A few band-aids, pain relievers, and maybe even an anti-chafe stick can be lifesavers! These things don’t take up much space and can make a massive difference in your day. Trust us, there’s nothing worse than hobbling around Disney with a blister. Get the 300 Piece First Aid Kit HERE! Forgetting Rain Gear and Extra Socks Listen, in Florida, rain is almost as common as sunshine, and when it rains, it pours. Plus, those afternoon showers can leave puddles that might make your feet wish they had their own poncho. Flooding in Disney World due to Helene A good rule of thumb is to bring a poncho (or mini umbrella) and a spare pair of socks. Ponchos are easy to find online before you go, which will save you some cash by buying them ahead of time instead of at the park! Also, stashing an extra pair of socks will help you out if your feet get drenched. It’s one of those things you won’t realize you need until you’re soaked and wishing for dry feet. Our favorite poncho is this Frogg Toggs poncho. There is plenty of room for your bag to fit underneath. It’s quick drying but doesn’t have ya sweating all day and there’s a bag for you to put your wet poncho in so it doesn’t get everything else in your bag wet. Frogg Togg Poncho Get your poncho here! The Bottom Line Packing smart can mean the difference between a pretty magical Disney day and one that’s spent dreaming of ice packs and foot rubs. So, here’s the main rule: keep it light and functional. If you can stick to a small bag with essentials, skip the urge overload. In the meantime, stay tuned to DFB so you’re always in the loop with all the latest from Disney! 19. For the past several months, we’ve been keeping a close eye on potential storm systems heading for the United States. Magic Kingdom entrance the day after Hurricane Milton During hurricane season, the probability of storms is higher than at other times of year, and we’ve already seen a few major hurricanes that impacted the southern part of the country. But it seems that the season isn’t over yet, because the National Hurricane Center (NHC) is watching three different developing systems in the Atlantic. Yesterday, the NHC shared that they’re monitoring three different systems developing in the Atlantic. One area in the Southwest Caribbean was of particular interest. ©NOAA But when the updates came in on Saturday, November 2nd, things had changed a bit. Now, one of the systems has developed into Subtropical Storm Patty. It’s expected to pass near or over the Azores this weekend. ©NOAA But if you’re in the United States, the system you might want to closely watch is the one that’s currently forming in the Southwest Caribbean. This storm has an 80% chance of cyclone formation within the next 7 days. Right now, it’s a broad area of low pressure with disorganized showers, but it seems to be moving northward over the Caribbean Sea. ©NOAA We’ll continue to keep an eye on this system and let you know if we see any major updates. We’ve already seen Hurricane Helene and Hurricane Milton come through the area this year, and we know many people are hoping to wrap up the hurricane season without any other major issues. 21. There’s one decision that you have to make when you’re planning a trip to Disney World that is above all the rest — where you’re going to eat? The Cake Bake Shop And with over 200 spots to choose from, let’s just say you’ve got your work cut out for you. But let’s say that for one of your meals, you’re wanting to go all in and splurge on getting a bucket-list-worthy meal. Well, we’re here to help you with the decision, specifically, to help you decide which one is worth the splurge and which you might want to skip. As we were saying, when it comes to expensive eating at Disney World a couple of places come to mind, and we wanted to talk about two of them: Takumi-Tei and The Cake Bake Shop by Gwendolyn Rogers. Specifically we want to talk about which one is worth the splurge and which you might want to skip! SKIP: Takumi-Tei at EPCOT Takumi-Tei is that elegant, intimate dining experience located in EPCOT’s Japan pavilion, and it’s gorgeous. When you walk in, you’re transported to a serene, artfully designed space inspired by Japanese elements. Inside The service is impeccable, and the food is beautifully presented in a seven-course meal format. If you’re a true foodie with a deep love for Japanese cuisine and have a whole evening to spare, you’ll likely find it amazing. But that might not be the case for most people. Here’s why you might want to give Takumi-Tei a pass: It’s a Time Commitment: Takumi-Tei’s dining experience is long, typically around 3-4 hours. When you’re in EPCOT and have a whole world of rides, shows, and pavilions to explore, spending half of your day in one restaurant can feel like a waste of valuable park time. Unless you’re planning to linger over every morsel and savor the ceremony, the time commitment alone might make you think twice. Hassun The Price Tag is Not Family-Friendly: Brace yourself because Takumi-Tei is one of the priciest dining experiences in Disney World. The cost per adult is $250, and even kids’ meals (for ages 8-12) ring in at a steep $100. If you’re a family of four, that adds up to $700 or more—before drinks and tips. If you’re on a budget, there are plenty of other incredible meals in Disney World that don’t require maxing out your credit card. It’s Not for Picky Eaters: This isn’t your standard sushi spot. Takumi-Tei is about refined, authentic Japanese flavors, and some of the dishes are quite adventurous. If you or anyone in your group is a picky eater or uncomfortable with unfamiliar dishes, this might not be the experience for you. A meal at Takumi-Tei requires an open mind and a willingness to explore new flavors. Sea urchin chirashi sushi Park Ticket Required: There’s one more thing to keep in mind. Takumi-Tei is inside EPCOT, so you’ll need a valid park ticket just to access it. If you’re trying to maximize your time and money, adding an EPCOT ticket on top of the meal can feel like a double splurge. So yes, Takumi-Tei delivers a truly high-end, memorable experience, but it’s best suited for devoted Japanese cuisine fans looking for something unique and who don’t mind the price tag. While you’re at it, why don’t you check out the our full review here: REVIEW: We Ate a $250 Meal in EPCOT and We’d Do It Again For everyone else? We’ve got a better idea. MUST-TRY: The Cake Bake Shop by Gwendolyn Rogers at Disney’s BoardWalk If you’re looking for an elevated experience that feels just as magical but a bit more approachable, The Cake Bake Shop by Gwendolyn Rogers at Disney’s BoardWalk is your new go-to. This spot, just recently opened here in fall 2024, and is all about dreamy ambiance and indulgent dishes that won’t require you to forfeit half your Disney day. Here’s why The Cake Bake Shop should be at the top of your dining list if you’re looking for a bougie spot: A Beautiful, Elevated Atmosphere: Walking into The Cake Bake Shop feels like entering a fairytale. From its sparkling chandeliers to the beautiful detailing with lots of silver and gold accents, everything feels designed to make you feel like royalty. The aesthetic here is top-tier and almost too pretty to eat. Plus, the staff here goes out of their way to make you feel pampered and welcome from the moment you step inside. Seating Gourmet Food Without the Extreme Price: The Cake Bake Shop is certainly on the pricier side, but compared to other high-end Disney options (looking at you, Takumi-Tei and Victoria & Albert’s), it’s a lot more wallet-friendly. The menu offers everything from delightful pastries to heartier entrees, and our absolute favorite was the Three Cheese Cavatappi, and seriously, we’re still dreaming about it. If you’re celebrating a special occasion but don’t want to break the bank, this is the spot. Convenient Location Without a Park Ticket: Located on Disney’s BoardWalk, The Cake Bake Shop is accessible even if you’re not heading into a park. This is perfect for those who want a high-quality dining experience without needing a separate ticket. You can easily make this part of your itinerary on a resort day, or simply as a magical escape from the hustle of the parks. Perfect for Foodies: Finally, let’s talk about the cakes. Not only are they picture-perfect, but they’re also delicious. This is the kind of place where you’ll want to order a few different slices just to sample (and photograph) each one. The dessert selection here alone makes it worth the trip! Raspberry Champagne Cake Check out the our full review here: REVIEW: Is Dinner at The Cake Bake Shop in Disney World WORTH The Price Tag? We Found Out! Overall, as we were saying, Takumi-Tei is a fantastic option, but it’s high price point, time commitment, and adventurous menu make it hard to recommend over places like The Cake Bake Shop by Gwendolyn Rogers, which has all the elegance, just without the time and budget commitment. In the end, we’ll leave the decision up to you. Until then, keep it right here at DFB for all the laters Disney news! 23. November marks the beginning of National Veterans and Military Families Month, a celebration established in 1996 to honor the extraordinary service and sacrifice of those who served in the U.S. military and their families. Building upon Disney’s long-standing admiration for military service, we are excited to share that a new collection of our military-inspired merchandise has arrived at select locations at Walt Disney World Resort and Disneyland Resort while supplies last. The collection this year consists of four items, including a T-shirt, a Spirit Jersey, a water bottle, and a baseball cap. Each item features the beloved “Mickeyflage,” a specially designed camouflage pattern by Disney that integrates hidden Mickeys throughout for an extra touch of Disney magic. Our unique military-inspired merchandise line is one of the many ways we continue to recognize and salute the military heroes who have given so much in service to our country. This collection is available at select locations, including Emporium at Magic Kingdom, Creations Shop at EPCOT, Mickey’s of Hollywood at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, World of Disney at Disney Springs in Florida, Emporium at Disneyland Park, Elias & Co. at Disney California Adventure Park and World of Disney at Downtown Disney in California. Theme Park admission and park reservation is required for park entry. Disney has had a long history of respect for military service members, veterans and their families dating back to the founding of our company more than 100 years ago, and that tradition continues today. Since 2012, Disney has contributed more than $20 million in funding and media support to nonprofit organizations that focus on bringing joy to veterans and military families. Please join us in thanking all veterans and their families this month!
