With the holidays just around the corner, I’ve been counting down the days that I can jump into the winter festivities! Luckily with Disney’s Blizzard Beach reopening November 4, there are going to be even more ways to have frosted fun under the Florida sun. Few places can bring to life a melting ski resort with immersive theming other than Walt Disney World, and the water park brings together family-friendly experiences and thrilling water attractions. It’s “snow-joke’’ that there is a lot to do at Disney’s Blizzard Beach, but here are seven ways I can’t wait to warm up my winter. 1. Experience the Thrill You might think The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror is the only way to drop several stories at Walt Disney World, but Summit Plummet is one of the world’s tallest and fastest free-fall waterslides that sends riders 12 stories almost straight down, rocketing through a darkened tunnel and into a massive spray of whitewater. 2. Frozen Fun for Families Looking for fun with the little tikes? For the first time in what feels like forever, the beloved characters from “Frozen’’ are inviting kids under four feet tall to step into their own “Frozen’’ adventure while enjoying water fun at Tike’s Peak. Roam across wading pools featuring whimsical depictions of Olaf and his Snowgie pals, engage in playful battles with pop-up water jets at Anna and Elsa’s igloo fortress, and go down slides designed just for them. 3. Teamboat Springs Thrills Enjoy the perfect thrill for everyone on Teamboat Springs. This unpredictable family raft ride offers a wild journey through twists and turns, navigating one of the longest waterslides in the world. It’s a must-ride for anyone seeking unforgettable memories with family and friends. 4. Relax on Cross Country Creek For those looking to unwind, Cross Country Creek offers a peaceful float along the 3,000-foot lazy river, winding through the park’s scenic landscapes. 5. Indulge in New Menu Items Indulge your taste buds with brand-new menu items that bring both savory and sweet flavors. At Warming Hut, guests will find lunch and dinner options, including the new barbecue pork sandwich with bacon and fried onion straws on a brioche bun. Sweet treats throughout the day include comfort flavors at Icee Expeditions with the new apple pie churro and praline sundae. For those already in the holiday spirit, the premium peppermint shake at Lotta Watta features a vanilla and chocolate milkshake with peppermint beverage syrup whipped cream, a brownie, and a cherry on top. 6. Float in Melt-Away Bay Experience relaxation in the heated one-acre wave pool, Melt-Away Bay. Float on inner tubes or splash around as gentle waves lap the shore. Mount Gushmore’s waterfalls create short, relaxing swells—ideal for lounging or swimming out to rocky outcrops to enjoy a refreshing waterfall. 7. Enjoy Repeat Visits Come back to the water parks again and again through May 23, 2025 with the Disney Water Parks Seasonal Pass. This limited-time special offer is back at only $79 plus tax, and allows you to discover even more ways to combine snow and sun through winter and into next year! One of my favorite parts about living in Florida is that fun in the sun is possible throughout the year, and this may be one of my favorite ways to experience a “snowy” winter day with my friends and family! Plus, 2025 travelers staying at a Disney Resorts Collection hotel can start their stay with a Water Park day with admission included on their check-in day, making it easier than ever to visit one of the incredible Disney Water Parks. Hope to catch you out there on the slopes! The post Counting Down to Disney’s Blizzard Beach Reopening appeared first on Disney Parks Blog. View the full article

Another change has come to Magic Kingdom, and its timing is pretty interesting. Tortuga Tavern We’ve seen LOTS of changes around Disney World lately, from newly-opened restaurants to complete menu overhauls and even closing attractions that will make way for some new updates. But these two important changes we just spotted have Disney fans talking, and we knew you needed to know about it, too! During a recent visit to Magic Kingdom, we came across two big changes in Adventureland. For context, lately, there’s been a lot of construction in Adventureland around Caribbean Plaza near the Pirates of the Caribbean ride and its former gift shop. Construction walls in Adventureland Disney’s popular pirate-themed gift shop closed shortly after construction walls went up in the area (possibly due to construction for a new pirate’s lounge set to debut in Adventureland). Around the same time, a nearby restaurant called Tortuga Tavern also closed. What things looked at Plaza del Sol Caribe Bazaar Tortuga Tavern was a solid stop for seasonal quick-service food, and its availability seemed to depend on the crowd levels in Magic Kingdom. When it was open, the hours of operation were typically shorter compared to some of its neighboring restaurants, like Golden Oak Outpost, Westward Ho Refreshments in Frontierland, and even Pecos Bill’s Tall Tale Inn & Cafe. Tortuga Tavern Full Spread However, when the gift shop merchandise needed to be moved out of the exit to the Pirates of the Caribbean attraction, we noticed that Tortuga Tavern closed to make way for a temporary new gift shop. This was when we noticed a banner renaming the former Tortuga Tavern space as Tortuga Treasures. Tortuga Treasures While the newly revised “shop” may have only been a temporary option, it offered similar pirate-themed merchandise and souvenirs previously sold at Plaza del Sol Caribe. Lots of stuff from across the street However, it seems that all has changed once again! We’ve once again noticed a BIG change in this area, and it seems that Disney World may not be completely done with Tortuga Tavern just yet. The banner hung on Tortuga Tavern’s sign has now reverted back into its original form… Tortuga Tavern is back …and the merchandise has also been moved back to its former shop area. While the construction walls remain, there seems to be enough room to shop around for all your pirate-y souvenirs. Merchandise has returned across the walkway It’s interesting to note that while we’re winding down some of the major fall holidays and getting ready to say goodbye to Halloween soon, Disney World has already been preparing for Christmas. In years past, Tortuga Tavern has joined the lineup of stops for free cookies and beverages during Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party, but we may just have to wait and see at the first party if this location decides to rejoin the festive fun or if this treat stop will be relocated in the park. Cookie stop at Tortuga Tavern For now, only time will tell if Tortuga Tavern will reopen seasonally soon and if they’ll offer the same menu they did before their brief closure. Either way, you know we’ll be keeping a close watch over this restaurant and its potential return! Start the music… ©TIME In a MAJOR shakeup in the music and entertainment industries, Disney struck a deal with the Recording Academy of America to air the Grammy Awards for ten years, beginning in 2027. As part of the deal, Disney will broadcast the awards shows on ABC, as well as both its Hulu and Disney+ streaming services. Disney’s acquisition of the broadcast rights for the Grammys will end an over 50-year relationship between the Recording Academy and CBS/Paramount, who’ve broadcast the music industry spectacle since 1973. According to Deadline, CBS (who last signed a 10-year-deal with the Recording Academy in 2016) had been interested in retaining the rights to the Grammys, but the two sides were unable to come to a new agreement during an exclusive contractual negotiating window, and Disney swooped in. Walt Disney Company Headquarters ©LA Times Disney Entertainment Co-Chairman Dana Walden said, “As The Walt Disney Company combines forces with The Recording Academy to open this exciting new chapter in the history of The Grammys, we do so with pride and gratitude. Live events have never been more important to our culture and industry, and we just acquired one of the crown jewels, adding to our portfolio of world-class programming across all genres.” ©Grammys Meanwhile, Harvey Mason Jr., Recording Academy CEO, added, “We are completely thrilled to be bringing The Grammys and other new music programming to the Disney ecosystem. We are grateful to our long-standing partners at CBS and now honored to be joining with Disney, an iconic company where creators have always been at the forefront. This partnership represents another important milestone in the Academy’s transformation and growth, and strengthens our ability to fulfill our mission of uplifting and serving music people around the world.” During the first year of the deal, Disney/ABC will air the Grammys, The Oscars, and the Super Bowl. CBS will broadcast the show during the final two years of its deal, including the 67th Grammy Awards, which will air on February 2nd. ©Grammys Disney has won the right to broadcast “music’s biggest night” on ABC and Disney+ and Hulu for a decade beginning in 2027. Disney World is constantly growing and changing these days. Spaceship Earth at EPCOT We’re getting several major park expansions in the next few years, as well as some hotel additions. You’ve got to accommodate the growing crowd of people planning their vacations to The Most Magical Place on Earth! And now, another Disney World location has announced a major expansion. The Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin Hotels are located in the EPCOT resort area, between the Yacht Club and the BoardWalk. These hotels are owned by Marriott, but they get many of the same perks that Disney World’s Deluxe Resorts get. They’re also popular spots for corporations and large groups to host conferences, due to their large convention center space. Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin But now, the Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin have announced a $275 million transformation featuring a new 120,000 square foot event space expansion. The convention property will have a new ballroom, additional convention space, upgrades to existing space, and renovated guest rooms. ©Marriott The entire project will take place over the next several years, and will include “modernized upgrades to existing meeting spaces and Swan guest rooms.” There will also be some technology enhancements throughout the property. Swan & Dolphin The expansion will bring the Swan and Dolphin’s total meeting space to 469,000 square feet between its three buildings — the Swan, Dolphin, and Swan Reserve. Add in the already 2,619 hotel rooms, and that will make this property one of the biggest convention spaces on the East Coast. “We look forward to delivering such a major transformation for our customers. These enhancements will be a great addition to our iconic and award-winning operation,” said Area General Manager Sean Verney. “It positions our property to remain at the forefront of meeting and convention venues globally.” Dolphin Lobby As far as the meeting space expansion goes, it will include a new two-story annex. It will have 41,000 square feet of multi-purpose space and 24,000 square feet of additional pre-function space, all connected to the building’s original convention space. The second floor will have a new ballroom, as well as a foyer. ©Marriott The entry to the new annex will feature an airy atrium with floor-to-ceiling windows, a grand staircase, and a stunning chandelier. This project should break ground in November with an expected completion date of late summer 2026. ©Marriott The second major project is an enhancement of the current event space. Ballrooms, carpeting, corridors and breakout spaces at the Walt Disney World Dolphin have recently completed, but work still needs to be done at the Swan. These renovations will be completed in phases but should be done by summer 2025. Inside the Swan Reserve And finally, we’ve got the hotel room renovation project! All guest rooms in the Walt Disney World Swan will be remodeled with luxury tile flooring and other new style choices. These room renovations should be completed in late 2024. ©Marriott So there you have it — all the details on the major updates coming to the Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin! It has been a long time coming, but The Cake Bake Shop has officially soft opened on Disney World’s BoardWalk! The Cake Bake Shop We have been going to this new spot to try so many different treats! We had breakfast and dinner, and of course, we had to try the controversial $23 slices of cake. While there has been backlash from Disney fans about the menu pricing, we have to say that The Cake Bake Shop serves up delicious meals and baked goods. It may not be an everyday restaurant, but it is a great place to celebrate a special occasion. And speaking of celebrating, on top of being a bakery and restaurant, you can also grab a drink at The Cake Bake Shop’s champagne bar! If you are looking to grab a drink while you are visiting the BoardWalk, look no further than The Cake Bake Shop! Like the rest of the restaurant, the bar is gorgeous, with beautiful white detailing and accents of gold and silver. The Bar The bar offers all sorts of drinks, including champagne, wine, cocktails, and beer, so of course, we had to try a drink for ourselves! Let’s grab a drink! We went the champagne route and ordered the Bellini for $18.99, which came with St. Hilaire Brut sparkling wine, peach liqueur, and peach purée. Bellini This drink was gold and incredible. It was crisp and had a very light taste. The peach puree was present, but it was not overbearingly sweet or too peachy. As expected, it is fizzy and bubbly, making it a great drink for breakfast and brunch and even an after-dinner dessert drink. So delicious! As mentioned, it is $18.99, which is pricey, but alcohol at Disney World is typically priced higher. This drink is a little elevated, as it had edible glitter, which made us feel fancy. We loved this drink! We would 100% order this drink again and can’t wait to continue to return to The Cake Bake Shop to try all their yummy baked goods and menu items! Stop by the bar for a drink at The Cake Bake Shop! The wait is over! Disney World’s newest restaurant quietly opened recently! The Cake Bake Shop The Cake Bake Shop opened October 24th, and we have been lucky enough to try the bakery, breakfast, lunch and the champagne bar there! This is an elegant dining location, perfect for celebrating special occasions. And now, it’s about to get easier to dine there. This is a pricey restaurant, and our readers have spoken out about the menu prices. In fact, the Cake Bake Shop posted a menu and then revised that menu a few days before opening — lowering many of the menu prices. You can expect to spend $23 for a giant cake slice… Millionaire’s Cake …or $29 for a Croque Madame made with country bread, French ham, Gruyère cheese, and Maille Dijon mustard topped with béchamel sauce, and a farm fresh sunny side up fried egg and served with an arugula salade dressed with homemade lemon vinaigrette and topped with Parmesan cheese. Croque Madame For dinner, you might try Three Cheese Cavatappi w/ Basil Breadcrumbs which costs $23.99. The dish blends Gruyère, Vermont sharp cheddar, and a touch of bleu cheese which is melted in a homemade cream sauce with applewood smoked bacon folded into cavatappi pasta. It is topped with toasted basil breadcrumbs and baked to perfection. The cavatappi is served with a freshly toasted half French baguette and salted European butter. Three Cheese Cavatappi w/ Basil Breadcrumbs We have enjoyed all the food we have had here, and we are eager to go back and try this restaurant again. One thing is for sure — the surroundings are opulent. The chandeliers Everything here glistens — even some of the food! The Pumpkin Spice Latte with Almond Milk twas made with wo shots of Illy espresso with pumpkin pie syrup and steamed milk sprinkled with pumpkin spice for $7.99. It was glittery. It also had a cute presentation with the cinnamon and it came with a cinnamon sugar donut hole. Pumpkin Spice Latte You can expect to spend $50-$100 per person at Cake Bake Shop, depending on whether you choose appetizers and dessert (trust us, you can share these!), and whether you order cocktails. Speaking of those cocktails… Bellini …we asked to sit in the champagne bar on one of our visits, where we had a Bellini ($18.99) made with St. Hilaire Brut sparkling wine, Giffard Creme de Péche de vigne, and peach puree. If you’re celebrating a special occasion at Disney World, The Cake Bake Shop is a new place to try — just remember that at least for now, you can’t make reservations here through Disney World. You’ll need to go to OpenTable. Click below to read our reviews of The Cake Bake Shop: Is Dinner at The Cake Bake Shop Worth the Price Tag? Disney’s theme parks change all the time; this is a common thing at all of them around the world. Fantasy Springs Arendelle castle in Tokyo Disney Sea Rides we love can close to make way for new ones, and even entire lands can get re-themed into something brand new. This isn’t a new concept for Disney, but it can be hard to accept. Now, one ride over at Tokyo Disneyland will officially be closing in Tomorrowland forever so that a new ride may take its place. Tomorrow, October 31st, marks the last day to ride Buzz Lightyear’s Astro Blasters at Tokyo Disneyland. This ride, which opened in 2004, was a variation of the ride Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin in Disneyland. Space Ranger Spin (Disney World) The ride will officially be closing because Wreck-It Ralph is moving in. The new attraction will open in 2026 and will “allow guests to “enter the candy-themed racing game Sugar Rush, which is being attacked by Sugar Bugs – glitches created by King Candy. Guests team up with the beloved film characters Ralph and Vanellope to transform the Sugar Bugs back to their original “kawaii” confectionery such as cookies and cakes.” ©Disney Based on the concept art, it’s likely that the Buzz Lightyear ride system will be used in the new ride and that the former blasters will be used to “transform the Sugar Bugs.” ©Disney If you love the Buzz Lightyear rides, you don’t have to worry too much. There are still versions of this ride at Disney World, Disneyland, Disneyland Paris, and Shanghai Disneyland. Previously, Hong Kong Disneyland had one as well, but it closed in 2017 and was replaced by an Ant-Man and the Wasp attraction. Buzz Lightyear Space Ranger Spin (Disney World) However, if you’re hoping to ride the Buzz Lightyear ride at Tokyo Disneyland, you’ll only have one more day to it! It’s never fun to lose a ride, but it can be exciting to finally experience the new one. For more Disney news, keep following DFB! Premier Pass is HERE… and there’s an issue. Okay, that may be dramatic — but stick with us. ©Disney Earlier this fall, Disney announced the new Lightning Lane Premier Pass option. The system, which was first used at Disneyland earlier in October before debuting at Walt Disney World on the 30th of the month, “allows one-time entry to each Lightning Lane experience in a theme park” so that they can enjoy each attraction at their leisure. The experience doesn’t come cheap, however, as they cost between $129 and $329 depending on the park the first day they were offered. Prices weren’t the only issue on day one. Specifically, once you scan your phone at a given attraction’s entrance, you join the same line that’s being used by Lightning Lane Multi Pass and Single Pass. While these waits are usually pretty short, it’s still the same exact experience and wait. ©Disney So, the only “extra” benefits for using the Premier Pass are the ability to ride every eligible attraction whenever you want, as opposed to needing to schedule a specific time. While those are definitely benefits, it’s arguable as to whether they’re enough to justify the large price jump from the Multi Pass and Single Pass Lightning Lane to the Premier Pass. ©Disney The Lightning Lane Premier Pass has debuted at Walt Disney World, and we ran into an issue with the expensive new pass option. Disney’s New SLEEPING BEAUTY LOUNGE Is Now Open!
Disney4me posted a topic in Disney Food/Restaurants
For all the classic Disney movie and Disney Princess fans out there, we’ve got a spot you HAVE to visit. Disneyland Hotel Disneyland, like Disney World, has some hidden lounges that are top tier, and you won’t want to miss out on them. There aren’t as many as in Disney World, of course, since the resort is smaller, but that doesn’t mean these lounges are any less iconic. If you’re a big Sleeping Beauty fan, there’s a lounge in Disneyland Hotel that you’ve got to check out! The lounge is called the Broken Spell Lounge and is inspired by none other than the iconic and beloved Sleeping Beauty film. To the Broken Spell Lounge! This lounge space debuted last year, but it’s only been the “Lobby Lounge” for the longest time. Now, however, it’s officially the Broken Spell Lounge, and it’s officially open for guests to enjoy. According to Disneyland’s website, the lounge is typically open from 4PM to 12AM each day of the week. ©Disney This lounge features forest green carpeting with walls and chairs that feature beautiful (and spooky, if we’re being honest) trees, really bringing the theme to life. The Lounge! We love how all the seating is so comfy as well, even the seats at the bar look like they’ll treat you well for a longer-than-usual stay — maybe so long that you’ll wonder if there’s another spell keeping you there! Broken Spell Lounge On the menu, you’ll find a large selection of wine, beer, specialty cocktails, flights, and an assortment of bites. We weren’t terribly impressed by our last visit here, if we’re being honest, but that was a whole year ago, so we’re more than willing to give it another chance. The first signs of Christmas are officially appearing in Disney World! Disney’s Animal Kingdom We recently spotted the iconic gingerbread house at Disney’s Grand Floridian being constructed, which is a good sign that Disney World is getting ready to haul out the holiday decor! But when we headed to Disney’s Animal Kingdom to try out the brand new Lightning Lane Premier Pass, we spotted some of our all-time favorite winter decorations. A lot of Disney World’s holiday decorations arrive every year around the beginning of November since it takes a LONG time to get everything up. There are a few things that we have come to expect to see that continuously bring us joy. For example, the massive Christmas trees at each of the parks and hotels are a marvelous sight to be seen. The Christmas tree at Disney’s Animal Kingdom 2023 Some of our favorite holiday decorations can be spotted at Animal Kingdom, and while the Christmas tree isn’t up yet, a few of the smaller but beautiful details are shown up! The animal lanterns are back up on the roof of Discover Trading Company, and their glow is simply breathtaking. Animal lanterns at Discover Trading Company Since we were there bright and early in the morning, we got to see their pretty glow lighting up their faces. These are simple yet beautiful, which is why they are some of our favorite decorations. Deer and Fox lanterns If the lanterns and the Merry Menagerie (life-sized animal puppets that come out for the holidays) are some of your favorite holiday decorations at Disney World, you’re definitely not alone! Merry Menagerie We happen to love them so much that we designed an entire merchandise collection after them! If you head over to the DFB Store, you’ll find a set of adorable tumblers, shirts, blankets, and more themed to the Merry Menagerie. There are lots of sizes of clothes, including infant, children, and adult. Merry Menagerie Sweater The tumblers are especially adorable and perfect for a winter beverage. It’s so cute! Or, if you want to hang the cute design on your tree, add an ornament near a light to watch it glow like the lanterns! The Walt Disney Company’s Chief Digital and Technology Officer at Disney Experiences, Gail Evans, has passed away. ©Disney | Walt Disney Company Headquarters Disney journalist Scott Gustin reported the news on October 30th. Evans joined The Walt Disney Company two years ago. Before coming to Disney, Evans worked at Mercer, a financial services company. Gail Evans acted as the Executive Vice President and Chief Digital and Technology Officer for Disney Experiences and led a team dedicated to the development and implementation of digital and technology strategies for Disney Experiences businesses. This included products and experiences like MagicBand+ and Hey Disney!, which have grown to be used throughout the Walt Disney World Resort. Evans previously acted as the first Chief Digital Officer at Mercer and has held senior leadership positions at Microsoft, Hewlett Packard, and Bank of America. She also previously worked at Eastman Kodak Company, serving as the CIO of Eastman Kodak’s Consumer Digital business. She received a bachelor’s degree from Nazareth College and an MBA from the University of Rochester’s Simon Business School. According to Disney, she also “proudly holds an Honorary Doctor of Humane Letters from Nazareth College.” ©Disney Evans was recognized as a finalist for the MIT Sloan CIO Leadership Award in 2019, and in 2018, Evans received the Phenom Award from the Digital Diversity Network, honoring trailblazers in the digital media and technology field. In addition to several other awards and recognitions, Evans was part of the Netflix documentary Working: What We Do All Day. Outside of work, Evans was passionate about mentoring the next generation of women leaders in technology. She led programs to help build a more inclusive workplace and was involved with MIT’s Center for Information Systems Research, where she helped connect academic research with real-world practices. When you’re watching your favorite show, don’t you just wish there was a way to share your favorite scenes? ©Netflix Honestly, we’d just share the scene in Agatha All Along where the witches sing “The Witches’ Road” a million times. Or maybe we’d love to share the scene in Inside Out 2 when Anxiety goes spinning out of control (same, Anxiety, same). Maybe we just want to highlight our favorite moments from Wizards of Waverly Place (yes, yes, we do). Imagine if that were possible. Well, Netflix has figured out how to let users share scenes…and we need Disney+ to do the same. According to Variety, Netflix just rolled out a new mobile feature that lets you share your favorite scenes from TV shows and movies with your friends. The feature is called “Moments” and lets Netflix subscribers save, rewatch, and share their favorite scenes across ALL of Netflix’s titles. So if you want to share some favorite moments from Bridgerton, now you can. ©Netflix Netflix said, “With Moments, members can quickly bookmark a scene while watching on their phone, saving it directly to their My Netflix tab for easy access later. Members can also share their favorite scenes across platforms like Instagram and Facebook, creating a seamless way to engage with their favorite content and share it with friends. We’re excited to add even more features in the future to help members enjoy and share their favorite Netflix moments.” Netflix even released a star-studded TV ad showing off the new feature. Watch Giancarlo Esposito, Simone Biles, and Cardi B talking about how they plan on using Moments. Moments is now available on iOS devices, with a rollout coming to Android coming soon. Now, all we have to ask is: when can we get this for Disney+? We need to share our favorite scenes from Loki, Andor, The Simpsons, Taylor Swift’s | The Eras Tour, Hamilton, and more! Disney World is CHANGING in 2025. We’re talking BIG changes. First, we’re going to start seeing construction soon in Magic Kingdom for the Cars expansion and the new Villains land. Grand Floridian Resort Then we’re going to see the debut of a new Zootopia show in Animal Kingdom, as well as a new Villains show in Hollywood Studios. Oh, then there’s a new nighttime parade coming to Magic Kingdom, too. Test Track will reopen with a brand new look and feel! However, these changes aren’t just happening in the parks. Disney World hotels are changing, too. Hotels will be more expensive We’ve already seen scores of price increases on tickets, Annual Passes, and food happen at Disney World recently, so it’s not a big stretch to expect to pay more for hotel rooms. Of course, you’ll still be able to nab good deals, especially if you’re visiting at less busy times of the year. You’ll want to keep an eye out for promotions (and you can track those right here on DFB, too). Port Orleans — Riverside Room Also, valet parking at hotels has increased from $39 to $42, so you’ll want to keep that in mind, too. Why You’ll Regret Staying At These Disney World Hotels in 2025 Island Tower will be open The new Disney Vacation Club (DVC) villas at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort, Island Tower, opens in December 2024. That means you’ll be able to stay at Island Tower in 2025 and have access to some new rooms, activities, dining, and more. That also means that it could be pretty busy around the Polynesian as everyone will be wanting to check out all the new stuff. Island Tower construction If you’re a DVC member or someone who just needs space for a larger group, Island Tower might be exactly the perfect fit for your next trip. FULL TOUR of a 2-Bedroom Suite at Disney’s NEW Polynesian Village Resort Island Tower New water parks perk If you stay at a Disney World hotel during your 2025 Disney World trip, a new perk will be available to you. You’ll get FREE tickets to a Disney World water park (either Typhoon Lagoon or Blizzard Beach, whichever one is open at the time) to use on your day of arrival at the resort. Blizzard Beach Note that this is ONLY good for your arrival day, but it might mean you’ll want to get to Disney World earlier in the day, so plan your travel accordingly. This perk is in addition to the Early Theme Park Entry perk and the Extended Evening Hours perk for deluxe hotel guests. The Ultimate Disney World Water Park Packing List Pool Closures You’ll also want to make sure you’re aware of pool closures that are happening in 2025. So far, we know of two, and one of them is at a SUPER popular pool. Stormalong Bay, which is the pool that Disney’s Yacht Club and Beach Club Resorts share, will be closed from January through April 2025. Stormalong Bay You’ll also need to know that Bay Cove Pool at Disney’s Contemporary Resort will also be closed from January 26th through early May 2025. We’re Letting You in on a Disney World Hotel Pool Secret Construction Some hotels will also be under construction during 2025. First up, Disney’s Port Orleans Resort — French Quarter is updating some rooms with work expected to be completed in spring 2025. That means you’ll see or hear construction work during daytime hours. New rooms at Port Orleans Resort — French Quarter Bay Lake Tower at Disney’s Contemporary Resort is also currently under construction with work expected to last an entire year into 2025. Finally, Disney’s Yacht Club Resort is updating its rooms, so construction will be going on there from January through May 2025. “Looks More Like a Value Resort.” Fans Are DIVIDED Over the NEWEST Disney World Hotel Rooms Lightning Lane Premier Pass If you’re staying at a deluxe Disney World hotel, you’ll have the opportunity to purchase Lightning Lane Premier Pass, a new pass that allows you to skip the standby lines at Disney World parks and use those rides’ Lightning Lanes. This pass differs form Lightning Lane Multi Pass and Lightning Lane Single Pass in that you can use it at anytime during the day you purchase it for and it includes both Multi Pass and Single Pass rides. ©Disney The Premier Pass, though, is pricey. It will cost you anywhere from $129 per person per day to $449 per person per day depending on the park and date you purchase it for. 2 MAJOR MISTAKES We Made with Lightning Lane Premier Pass – Watch Out For These in Disney World! Hotel cancellation policy change Disney World’s hotel cancellation policy is changing in 2025. The old policy allowed you to cancel your stay in as little as five days without penalty. However, the new 2025 cancellation policy requires you to cancel your stay at least eight days before your trip or you could lose part of your refund. Disney’s Pop Century Resort However, if you’ve booked a vacation package with park tickets and hotel reservations, the policy remains the same. You can cancel the entire package up to 30 days from your arrival date and receive a full refund. If you cancel from two to 20 days, though, you will be charged a $200 cancellation fee. If you cancel the day before or on the day of your arrival, you’ll lose the entire cost of your vacation package. Learn more about the new cancellation policy here Make sure you look carefully at discounts We noticed a new trend for 2025 Disney World discounts. A new early bird hotel discount was recently released for 2025 hotel stays that could save you up to 25% off hotel stays, except at select resorts. Generally, value resorts are excluded, but this time, we spotted an exception in the discount. All-Star Sports Resort If you book a stay with this discount at Disney’s All-Star Resorts, you can still get 20 to 25% off your stay, rather than the usual 10 to 15% off that you get if you stay at the other All-Star locations. It might be worth it to book All-Star Sports if you’re looking at one of the All-Star hotels for your 2025 trip. So when you see discounts posted, read the fine print. 3 Upcoming Dates To AVOID the All-Star Sports Hotel in Disney World If you’re booking a trip to Disney World in 2025, be sure to check out our discounts and deals page so you know what’s available. Are you ready for a BIG DAY in Disney World?! Magic Kingdom Today, October 30th, Disney is officially launching its new Lightning Lane Premier Pass service over in Disney World, and we’re here to try it out. Last week, it launched in Disneyland, and we checked it out, but now it’s time to find out if this new offering for skipping the long lines on the East Coast is worth the cost. Let’s go! Purchasing Lightning Lane Premier Pass On its debut day, October 30th, the pricing for each park is listed as: Magic Kingdom — $329 plus tax EPCOT — $169 plus tax Hollywood Studios — $269 plus tax Animal Kingdom — $129 plus tax ©Disney Seven days before you check in, you will want to be in the My Disney Experience app at 7 AM ET. On debut day, the app said that Premier Pass would be coming soon, even though it was 7 AM. ©Disney We were able to dismiss this message and still purchase. By 7:35 AM, the message had changed to “Now Available.” We are sure this was just a glitch and will be fixed, but just know that you can dismiss this message and should still be able to purchase. ©Disney Depending on your My Disney Experience App, Lightning Lane Premier Pass may be an option for you to click on your home screen. If it does not show up, you can search for it in the app. Then choose your date, the park you want to purchase, everyone in your party you want to purchase it for, then continue to purchase the pass. ©Disney You can confirm your purchase on your home screen or you can view it under “My Day.” ©Disney We did notice that you can only purchase Premier Pass for one park per day per person. So once you’ve purchased a park for that day for someone, you can’t add another park later on in your day. If you plan on Park Hopping, you’ll need to purchase Lightning Lane Multi Pass for your next park if you wish to use the Lightning Lanes. ©Disney Step-By-Step: How to Buy Lightning Lane Premier Pass on the Disney World App Using Lightning Lane Premier Pass Be forewarned that while Premier Pass is expensive, the actual process when you arrive at the attraction is the same. You’ll still redeem at the Lightning Lane entrance and join the same Lightning Lane queue that you would if you were using Lightning Lane Multi Pass or Lightning Lane Single Pass. There are no additional perks beyond the normal Lightning Lane usage. Lightning Lane at Haunted Mansion You’ll find a list of all the available rides for your day in the app, and as you ride each one it is removed from your list of available experiences. ©Disney Shows that are included in Lightning Lane Premier Pass show up with all the available times and instruct you to arrive at least 10 minutes early. Under your available experiences, there is a list of redeemed experiences. The app seems to keep track of your available and redeemed experiences very well, and when we tried to redeem a ride twice it indicated we had already ridden it accurately. ©Disney We’ll be testing it out all day, so stay tuned right here for live updates of the new Lightning Lane Premier Pass! Alright Disney, let’s have a little chat. ©Disney It appears that Disney+ is on the up and up financially after finally becoming profitable, but that doesn’t mean all is well with the streaming platform. Disney recently raised subscription prices and has been cracking down on password sharing, upsetting many of its users. However, Disney maximizing profits is not a new phenomenon. Instead, the issue that needs discussing is Disney+’s content quality problem. Whether or not you love everything Disney+ puts out content-wise, I feel like it’s fair to say that from the general critics’ and fans’ perspectives, Disney+ objectively has a content issue. With response varying tremendously from project to project, it lacks original quality consistency when compared to competitors like Apple TV or HBO. Let’s take a look at what I mean by that and how Disney+ can get back on track to win over audiences! ©Disney Before causing an uproar accusing Disney of having a content issue on its streaming service, I have to interject that I don’t find Disney+ shows to be an affront to humanity like the internet may suggest they are. Some shows have really stuck with me such as WandaVision while others didn’t really do it for me (Secret Invasion). Personally, I’m overall satisfied with the original content Disney+ has given us, but as an unbiased observer, it’s impossible to ignore that general audiences have had much more severe reactions to perceived misses. ©Marvel Right now, Disney+ has a banger on its hands with Agatha All Along which boasts a super-respectable 82% critics and audience scores on Rotten Tomatoes. However, we’re not far removed from Star Wars: The Acolyte, which has a meager 18% audience score and was canceled despite having a massive budget and solid critic scores (78%). It’s true that for many Disney projects both on Disney+ and in theaters, there is a pretty big divide between audiences and the critics. However, the former drives the industry, so if you aren’t appeasing them, you’re not experiencing heightened success. ©Disney So why aren’t audiences falling in love with every Disney+ project? Some claim it has to do with a “woke agenda”. This topic has come up more than once, even causing The Walt Disney Company CEO Bob Iger to say the “primary mission needs to be to entertain” and that he’s “very serious about that. It should not be agenda-driven. It should be entertainment-driven. That should be the goal in all of our stories.” From this writer’s perspective, I think that’s an oversimplification of Disney+’s original content struggles to positively engage audiences. I don’t think the content produced by Disney+ suffers from any sort of political messaging, but instead by missteps in the pre-production process. Allow me to explain… ©Disney The new creative head of DC Studios at Warner Bros., James Gunn, knows a thing or two about Disney entertainment. Once considered the right-hand man of Marvel Studios’ Kevin Feige, Gunn was brought in by Warner to bring DC content up to the standards the Marvel Cinematic Universe set. In his first phase at DC, Gunn has made it public that DC Studios has no intention to oversaturate audiences. A few shows and movies each year help maintain quality control, according to Gunn. Showrunners and movie execs at Marvel and Lucasfilm have vocally agreed that cutting back content is probably a good idea after facing tons of backlash regarding quality over the past several years. But are they actually practicing what they’re preaching? In 2025 alone, Marvel is releasing Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man, Daredevil: Born Again, Ironheart, Eyes of Wakanda, Marvel Zombies, and Wonder Man on Disney+. ©Marvel I know that if you keep throwing darts at a board, you’ll eventually hit a bullseye but you may also miss pretty ridiculously at times. Disney would work up better audience relations if it only released a few shows each year but each show was universally praised. Quality over quantity will always ring true, as platforms like HBO have shown us. Another problem with oversaturation is that really great content can get easily overlooked. There’s only so much time in a day, and a sliver of that time will be spent on entertainment. We pick and choose what we want to watch and some shows will be left out in the dust because of that, unfortunately. Narrowing down options slightly to projects Disney really believes in helps create credibility while uplifting content that might’ve otherwise been skipped. ©Disney/Marvel Part of quality control is consistency. I hate to keep bringing up HBO but it is the standard-bearer when it comes to television content. HBO generally has the luxury of creating content that doesn’t intersect with each other. The Penguin has nothing to do with The Last of Us. But because of the way Disney has leaned into franchise continuity, its content is under much more scrutiny. She-Hulk: Attorney at Law ties into WandaVision which ties into Spider-Man Homecoming which now ties into Deadpool & Wolverine which now all of a sudden ties into the Blade franchise. The same can be said about all the storylines anything Star Wars must connect to. The point is that Disney has knee-capped itself with its content. Creating a roadmap for franchises is easy when it’s just a couple of films and shows, but for its big money-makers, these stories have exploded into several different threads that are seriously hard to follow, even for the creators. ©Marvel Fans nowadays are getting confused because they missed a show or movie and are now out of the loop, the stories retcon a previous plot point established in a franchise, or the writing isn’t comprehensive enough to consider something that was established over a decade ago. One solution is to create more standalone content. It’s so refreshing to watch something without needing to do homework. And if something must be included in a specific timeline, double down on story approvals. Creators have to do their homework to make sure character decisions and plot points make sense within the universes in which they exist. Unfortunately for these giant franchises, that’s the price of oversaturation these last several years. Not only that but days of winging it have to be over. When the MCU was in its heyday, the team at Marvel had an Endgame in mind. The original content at Disney+ should fit that mold so that it serves a purpose and adds cohesion to its respective franchise. ©Lucasfilm With that said, I still think standalone original content is the way to go with Disney+ content. If Disney wants to keep pumping out series after series, releasing a couple big-time franchise shows with tons of standalone shows from other properties like Pixar and Disney Animation each year would be an effective route. Marvel, for example, has played around with and will continue to explore multiverse stories that slightly tie into the mainline MCU without being canon or must-watch, and I personally think that takes a lot of stress off the viewers while allowing show creators to really have fun with the material. ©Pixar The more Disney+ can allow storytellers creative freedom without the confines of decades’ worth of rigid storytelling, the better off we’ll be as viewers. When sitting in on the Marvel animation panel at this year’s D23 fan expo, I listened to so many creators talk about how passionate they are about their projects and it was a reminder that creative freedom often leads to the best content. ©Marvel Alright, so we’ve talked about how Disney+ needs to scale back on its shows, really hone in on quality control, try to create more standalone content, and create more long-term game plans for its mega franchises. However, there’s one more thing Disney+ needs to do to win over audiences: create tonal variety. We’ve already started to see Disney+ do a little bit of this with Daredevil: Born Again, Werewolf by Night, and Marvel Zombies. The idea here is to create something for everyone. The platform can offer plenty of kid-friendly shows, entertainment for teens, and heavier content for adults. The idea is to simply cast a wider audience net. As Disney continues to tighten its grip on the film industry, it needs to be willing to cater to all kinds of content demand. ©Disney We’ve seen Disney start to embrace that mindset recently. Disney+ is no longer shying away from R-rated content, nor is it moving off its child-friendly offerings. By offering parental locks, the platform frees itself from its previous confines and can truly become a multi-faceted streaming service. The key to any good media library is to appeal to niche audiences while simultaneously making the broad base happy. I personally see Disney+ trending in this direction and it gives me hope that fans will warm up more to the service in the future. ©Disney All in all, I think frustration stems from the fact that we’ve seen some really top-notch quality on Disney+ and it’s disappointing when that quality isn’t consistent. Disney is still figuring out this new frontier, but I’m hoping it finds the right formula and provides winners consistently. How do you feel about Disney+ content? Lightning Lane Premier Pass debuts in Disney World on October 30th. Cinderella Castle Disney introduced Lightning Lane Multi Pass and Lightning Lane Single Pass on July 24th, 2024. Multi Pass is an optional, paid service that allows you to book reservations to “skip the line” at many rides throughout Disney World. Single Pass is another optional, paid service reserved for Disney World’s most popular rides, and allows you to book a reservation to ride one of those uber popular rides (like Rise of the Resistance or Flight of Passage). Now comes Lightning Lane Premier Pass — a premium, paid service that starts October 30th. And now, we know what pricing looks like for this top tier of Lightning Lane passes! As we said, we now know the exact pricing for Lightning Lane Premier Pass on its first day — October 30th. The prices look like this: Lightning Lane Premier Pass Pricing Magic Kingdom — $329 plus tax EPCOT — $169 plus tax Hollywood Studios — $269 plus tax Animal Kingdom — $129 plus tax Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway Lightning Lane Keep in mind those prices are per person, and only guests staying in Disney World Deluxe Resorts, Deluxe Villas and other select hotels are able to buy the Premier Pass. So, why would you want it? Premier Pass allows you to experience every attraction with a Lightning Lane in one park — without making reservations. You just show up and scan in. This includes both Multi Pass and Single Pass attractions. We’ve got a full list of the rides included right here. Lightning Lane at MuppetVision*3D Just like Disney World tickets, Lightning Lane Multi Pass, and Lightning Lane Single Pass, prices for Premier Pass will change based on demand. Days Disney expects a larger crowd means a higher price. Previously, Disney had said the price range for Premier Pass would be: Magic Kingdom: $329-$449 plus tax Disney’s Animal Kingdom: $129-$199 plus tax EPCOT: $169-$249 plus tax Disney’s Hollywood Studios: $269-$349 plus tax The October 30th prices are at the bottom of those price ranges, so we can expect to see higher prices as we move into the holiday season. Winnie the Pooh Lightning Lane Disney has said that the Lightning Lane Premier Pass will be available in “very limited quantities.” The translation here is that Disney does not want to sell very many of these passes — which is part of the reason they are priced at a premium. If everyone had a skip-the-line pass with no reservation required, it would be even more difficult for Disney to manage wait times. Haunted Mansion Lightning Lane The Premier Pass is not the right fit for everyone, but it could make sense for you in certain situations. The DFB team will be in the parks October 30th, learning the ins and outs of the new offering, and you can count on us to bring you the good, the bad, and the ugly of what we find.
