  1. Moana 2 is officially streaming on Disney+! Moana 2 The sequel to the popular film made its way onto Disney’s streaming service on March 12th, 2025, just over three months after the film debuted in theaters on November 27th, 2024. The film saw great success during its theatrical run and is doing just as well over on Disney+! According to Disney, Moana 2 hit the box office with the “biggest Thanksgiving weekend opening ever and the highest opening in Walt Disney Animation Studios’ history.” The film kept up the momentum, and over the Martin Luther King Jr. Day weekend, it surpassed $1 billion worldwide to “become the third highest-grossing Walt Disney Animation Studios release of all time.” ©Disney Not only did the film do well at the box office, but just after five days of streaming on Disney+ with 27.3 million views globally. Disney said that this “marks the biggest Walt Disney Animation Studios premiere since Encanto” in 2021. The first Moana surpassed 1.4 billion hours on Disney+. While Moana has been Disney+’s most-streamed film ever since Disney+ debuted in 2019, leading up to the release of Moana 2, “2024 marked Moana’s most-streamed year ever.” Moana 2 Although Moana 3 has not been confirmed, the mid-credit scene of Moana 2 sets up the film franchise for a third movie. In the meantime, the live-action Moana is set to hit theaters in 2026. 4. While you can visit The Simpsons Land in Universal Orlando, the franchise is now actually owned by Disney. ©The Simpsons Disney acquired this wildly popular TV show when they bought 21st Century Fox in 2019, and The Simpsons were part of that. While there are currently no plans announced to take The Simpsons out of Universal Orlando or add it to Disney parks, we’re keeping an eye on all the latest news to keep you updated with the show. Well, we’ve got a feeling this news will make fans of the show very happy — a 24/7 livestream is available now! Disney+ has just added a new 24/7 livestream to Disney+ that will show every single episode of “The Simpsons.” Yes, every episode from seasons 1-35, and you can turn it on whenever you’d like. ©Disney Streams on Disney+ is a relatively new addition to the streaming service. It began in September 2024 with its first offering being a constant news stream from ABC News and Disney+ Playtime for kids, then the company went on to add a Hallowstream stream for Halloween, Hits & Heroes which include action-packed stories from Marvel, Disney, and Star Wars, Throwbacks is your home for nostalgic content, and Real Life is full of biopics, real-life stories, and documentaries. ©Disney || Disney+ THE SIMPSONS Stream will be available all day every day, and the programming lineup will be updated monthly, as there are still new episodes being released. Currently, Streams are available to Premium subscribers, but Disney has stated previously that they’re hoping to create more Streams and make them available to more subscribers in the future. ©Disney In addition to this new Stream, you can also find THE SIMPSONS MOVIE, full-length episodes, as well as over 10 shorts featuring one of America’s favorite families. There’s certainly no shortage of Simpsons content available on the platform, and we look forward to seeing what other Streams Disney+ plans to add in the future. More Recent Disney+ News! You’re probably figuring out all the basics like your budget, where you’re staying, how long you’re staying, what tickets you need, and more. Main Street, U.S.A. Each cooling towel comes in its own pack, too, so when you’re done, you can just store it in its little bag and it won’t get your other stuff wet. Buy on Amazon Buy the Anker MagGo Power Bank ©Amazon One thing you’re going to be doing a lot of in Disney World is using your phone. You’ll need the My Disney Experience app for everything, including checking into your hotel, unlocking your hotel room, booking Lightning Lanes, mobile ordering food, and even mobile ordering merchandise. That sucks up a lot of power, so a good power bank is a necessity so you don’t end up with a dead phone battery before the end of the day. Buy on Amazon Get the Sun Bum Sunscreen Mist ©Amazon It doesn’t just get hot in Florida — you also have to deal with that sun, which can be brutal and quickly damage your skin. 6. We love EPCOT Festivals for many reasons, but one big one is because of all the special, exclusive snacks and drinks we get to enjoy for a limited time! It’s festival time! While we wish many of these were available year round, absence makes the heart grow fonder. If you’re heading to the Flower and Garden Festival in EPCOT and are looking for some of the best snacks you can get on a budget, these three made our best of the fest list, and they’re all only $5! Florida Strawberry Shortcake First up we recommend stopping by the Florida Fresh booth, which was impressive as a whole, but the Florida Strawberry Shortcake here is only $5 and we literally couldn’t love it more. Florida Strawberry Shortcake The pound cake was buttery, the whipped cream tasted homemade, and the strawberries were perfectly fresh. Getting a bite of all three in one forkful is heavenly, if you ask us. Even better? Grab the Conch Fritters from the same booth and use the key lime aïoli to bring another amazing flavor to this dish! Honey-glazed Cauliflower Another returning item to the festival we loved again this year is the Honey-glazed Cauliflower from Honey Bee-Stro, and again, it’s only $5! Honey-glazed Cauliflower It’s savory, it’s sweet, and not only that, it’s so light, so you won’t feel weighed down after you eat it. It may not look the most appetizing, but we promise, don’t let its look fool you — it’s incredible! Fried Cinnamon Roll Bites The Fried Cinnamon Roll Bites over at BRUNCHCOT are going to be a hit for adults and kiddos alike. We’ll admit, this one is $5.25, but those extra 25 cents are worth it! Fried Cinnamon Roll Bites If you love anything having to do with cinnamon rolls, this is a MUST STOP for you! The cream cheese frosting adds the perfect even-sweeter taste to these, and the candied bacon provides a hint of savory — we can’t get enough of them. 8. Disney World doesn’t have to break the bank! Cinderella Castle There are tons of money-saving tips, hotel discounts, and more that can help you budget the best way! While a budget is important, sometimes it can feel like you’re missing out on certain aspects of the magic. We’re here to prove that isn’t true by breaking down the cheapest sit-down dinner you can get in Magic Kingdom! Dining in Disney World can be the favorite part of our vacation! The Mickey-shaped snacks, the sweet desserts, and the over-the-top theming make it so fun and special, but it can add up quickly if you aren’t careful! That’s why we’re sharing the cheapest sit-down dinner you can have in Magic Kingdom. There are lots of places to check out when it comes to table service restaurant in this park but for our budget plans, we’re focusing on The Plaza Restaurant! The Plaza Restaurant! The Plaza Restaurant is a table service restaurant at the end of Main Street, U.S.A. that serves up American classics with gorgeous views of Cinderella Castle! This spot is underrated in our opinion for a few reasons but for today’s lesson, we’re focusing on how budget-friendly this spot can be. We were running the numbers and it turns out you can have a full meal for $35 before tax! The menu! When we say a full meal, we don’t just mean the entree either! To start off your meal, you can grab either the House Salad or Daily Soup for only $10. You can also grab the Plaza Loaded Fries for only $15 but for this experiment, we’re going with the most inexpensive option in each category. If you aren’t super hungry, the fries can easily be a full meal on their own. (Which is really the best budget tip here!) Plaza Loaded Fries The soup and salad are pretty simple and straightforward options but that isn’t a bad thing! Sometimes you just need some simple consistency after all. Most people aren’t eating Disney food every day so your body might be craving a vegetable by the time you make it to day 3 or 4 of your trip. For our main entree, the Chipotle Barbecue Pork Sandwich is only $17! The views inside. The sandwich is slow-cooked pulled pork with chipotle barbecue sauce and coleslaw all on a toasted bun! This savory option is filling, flavorful, and a more familiar dish to most people. Not everyone is a barbeque fan though, so it’s important the restaurant has 3 other entrees that are only $20. It might be a little bit more, but it gives you some options if you have a more flexible budget. ©Disney Finally, it’s not a full meal without some dessert! for just $7.75, you can get the Plaza Restaurant Sundae! It’s made with ice cream of your choice, hot fudge, strawberry sauce, crushed pineapple, chopped nuts, whipped cream, and a cherry on top. That sounds like a hefty portion for less than $8! You can also grab a variety of milkshakes for $9 or less. A milkshake is only a little more! So adding together our salad, sandwich, and dessert gets us to $34.75 for one person to dine on. That isn’t bad at all, especially for a tasty meal at a table service. If this option doesn’t sound appetizing, you can also check out Tony’s Town Square Restaurant! Tony’s Town Square This restaurant is also on Main Street and, while it is slightly more to get an appetizer, entree, and dessert, it can also be a great meal for less than $45! For this same budget-friendly combo, you can get the $9 seasonal soup, Rigatoni alla Vodka for $26, and $7.75 gelato for $42.75 before tax. Tony’s Town Square Restaurant So there you have it! We don’t often do math, but we will when it comes to Disney World vacations. This is a great example of how Disney doesn’t have to break the bank every time for you to have the full experience! Now all we need is for the Plaza to bring back its short-lived breakfast options. As always, keep following DFB for more Disney budgeting tips and tricks. Ordered the Cheapest Lunch in Magic Kingdom. 9. Disney World is busy right now! Grand Floridian Resort Spring Break crowds are about to begin, there’s construction happening all around the theme parks and resorts, and another holiday is coming up soon! Now it seems like a beloved Disney World staple is finally back for a limited time so we’re checking it out! We went over to Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort today to check out the returning Grand Cottage! The Grand Cottage is an Easter tradition at this resort that offers seasonal treats to enjoy while strolling through the lobby to check out the famous Easter Eggs. The cottage! The cottage is open from 9 AM to 9 PM from March 18th until April 20th, 2025 for the Easter celebrations. There are 8 different treats to enjoy this year, many of which are returning favorites! The menu! Before you head over, take a look here at what you can grab this year! Bunny Burrow Dirt Cup for $7.99 Carrot Blondie Pop for $7.49 Cream Cheese Carrot Coffee Cake for $9.49 Mickey Fruit Flavored Cereal Pop for $6.99 Guava Cream Cheese Sweet Roll for $4.49 Hot Cross Bun for $4.49 Lemon Blueberry Whoopie Pie for $8.19 Macaron Box for $14.99 The Carrot Blondie from previous years! These treats are fan favorites and make checking out the Easter Eggs around the resorts even sweeter. We are so excited to see these snacks, and the Cottage itself, return for another year. In case you didn’t know, the Easter Eggs are hand-crafted by culinary Cast Members and sit on display for guests to enjoy during the month of April. A Cast Member showing us the treats! Other resorts are celebrating the holiday as well with their own special treats and specialty-designed Easter Eggs. You can find a full list of what to expect and where you can find all of the treats right here! We are also hoping to see Mr. and Mrs. Bunny pop up in Magic Kingdom on the holiday like they have done in previous years. A view of the cottage above! We also took sometime to check out those gorgeous Easter Eggs! First we stopped this amazing Evil Queen inspired egg which is perfect for release of the live action Snow White which comes out on March 21st. How gorgeous! There is also this incredible Inside Out 2 inspired display with eggs matching the colors of Riley’s emotions and Anixety down at the bottom. How cool! Be warned, this next egg is inspired by Expedition Everest and it’s scary yeti! It even lights up and is suddenly making us want to hop on the attraction. Be warned! Theme park fans are really being served today because Madame Leota also made an appearance this year by floating not in her crystal ball but an Easter Egg. How haunting! Cruella De Vil made an appearance on this 101 Dalmations inspired egg where you can see the puppies all around the design and Roger Dearly inside writing the famous theme song. This is so cool! For Toy Story 2 fans, this egg shows Al’s Toy Barn from this second film as well as some other nods to the movie like the Pizza Planet truck. His toy barn! Cinderella takes center stage as her soap bubbles float off the egg with images of herself, her friends, and other scenes from the film inside of them! This one might be this writer’s favorite. How gorgeous! Finally, we checked out this Scroog McDuck inspired egg as he’s diving for all of the chocolate coins. Honestly? We get it. Us too, Scroog! The Grand Cottage as well as the Easter Eggs can often get pretty long lines so be prepared to wait for a minute for those desserts! 10. Disney Adults have garnered quite a reputation over the years — and not all of it has been pleasant. ©Disney Being a Disney Adult certainly isn’t always easy, either. Being fans of the House of Mouse means spending our days daydreaming about the best restaurants in Disney, changes coming to the parks, and our favorite entertainment in each park. And, while being a Disney Adult comes with plenty of joys, it also comes with plenty of pain. We wanted to know the joys and pains of being a Disney Adults, so we headed to our Facebook to ask the experts — our readers! It turns out, there is a LOT of joy… and quite a bit of pain, too. Hollywood Studios It will probably come as a shock to no one that one of the biggest pains Disney Adults have on the regular is simply not being able to go to the parks as much as one would like! Short of working at Disney World or working for us here at DFB, few people can be in the parks every single day — but we know it’s a dream for many Disney Adults. Others resented the way that the parks have changed over the years. Nostalgia is a heck of a drug and we definitely know what it feels like to miss the parks of yesteryear. Especially now, with so many changes on the horizon at both Magic Kingdom and Animal Kingdom. We know we’re going to miss Tom Sawyer Island and the Rivers of America, and we already miss DinoLand U.S.A., too! Disney’s Animal Kingdom Another pain we saw mentioned more than once was simply the pain of being a local Disney Adult and having to deal with the parking lot that Central Florida traffic can be! No matter where you live in relation to Disney World — north, south, east, or west — chances are you’re going to have to put up with some traffic at some point on your visit. EPCOT But, of course, none of us would be Disney Adults if it didn’t bring us tremendous amounts of joy, right? And, overwhelmingly, what brought our readers the most joy was that first feeling you get when you walk into the parks — and just being in the “Disney Bubble” in general. Knowing that your transportation, dining, and entertainment are all taken care of is such a relief. Hollywood Studios We couldn’t help but chuckle at one reply that said their joy was “being able to acquire all the fun things I could only dream about of just look at when I was kid, but then almost immediately letting it spiral out of control just as fast.” And we have to say, we know that feeling all too well. Pandora Even the planning process brings some of our readers joy — no matter how stressful it might be, quite a few of our readers think that deciding which parts to go to, what restaurants to dine at, and what rides you can’t wait to go on is just as exciting and joyful as actually being at Disney World. Walt Disney Statue in EPCOT Disney Adults might get ridiculed online, but don’t let the haters get you down. We’ve all got to stick together! In the meantime, we’ll be on the lookout for more updates from Disney World. Make sure you stay tuned to the Disney Food Blog for the latest news from Disney World and more! 11. Coffee just tastes better at Disney World; we don’t make the rules; it is just a fact! A GREAT start to the day! Whether you are Team Starbucks or Team Joffrey’s at Disney World, there is just something so magical about starting your day with coffee at the parks or resorts. We don’t want to be the bearer of bad news, but your Disney World morning coffee just got even more expensive. Unfortunately, it has been reported that coffee price hikes have just started due to lower production in important coffee-growing regions such as Brazil, which has reduced the availability of beans. Mickey coffee at Joffrey’s This price hike may be affecting the prices of many drinks at Joffrey’s Coffee and Tea Company, as many drinks at Disney World have seen about a $.20- $.30 price increase, but some menu items have been hit even harder. Joffrey’s Coffee Stand For example, the price of a Joffrey’s Café Latte increased from $5.39 to $5.69. A Frozen Cappuccino Dream went from $6.39 to $6.99! While these price increases may not be super drastic, they can really add up, especially if you are purchasing drinks for your entire party. Round ’em Up Latte It is not uncommon for menu items, park tickets, Annual Passes, and hotel rates to go up each year at Disney World. The Joffrey’s price increases are more shocking as we typically don’t see many menu price increases until around October each year. The 7 Most Shocking Price Increases Announced By Disney Joffrey’s in Tomorrowland We are bummed about the price increases at Joffrey’s, as your Disney World budget now might need some extra wiggle room. 15. Disneyland knows how to celebrate special events and holidays! Sleeping Beauty Castle at Disneyland We get so excited when a new Foodie Guide drops for festivals and specialty holiday treats! Each year, many people look forward to confections that are only made seasonally at Disneyland, like the GIANT candy canes during the Christmas season. Well, we just got some sad news that a fan-favorite Spring treat will NOT be making a return this year at Disneyland. Disneyland is home to quite a few bakeries, including Candy Palace, Pooh Corner, Trolley Treats, Bing Bong’s Sweet Stuff, and the brand-new Disney Wonderful World of Sweets. Throughout the year, you can find holiday-themed treats like cake pops, rice treats, cupcakes, and more! Typically, Candy Palace in Disneyland and Trolley Treats in Disney California Adventure are the only confectionaries that serve up super rare holiday treats like candy canes and fudge Easter Eggs. Giant Candy Cane! Well, Easter is right around the corner, and we have patiently been waiting for news about the return of the fudge Easter Eggs. These eggs are so popular that Disneyland only served them on certain days, and last year, they could only be ordered via Mobile Order on the Disneyland app. Fudge Easter Eggs Our Disneyland reporters heard rumors that the iconic Easter eggs would not be returning this year, but we still held out hope! Well, with Easter about a month away, we are sad to report that Cast Members did confirm that this popular confection would not be returning this year. The iconic treat WON’T be returning this year Last year, the eggs were only available on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. In previous years, we have tried different flavors like Chocolate Nut, Vanilla Nut, Chocolate Cream, Black Walnut, and Peanut Butter Fudge. These eggs were eight ounces in size, but the fudge inside made them feel significantly heavier. We are mourning the loss! We are unsure as to why these will not be returning this year, but we are pretty sad as this is one of our favorite seasonal treats. We have our fingers crossed that they will make their return during the 2026 Easter season! 17. We are still pinching ourselves from our very first visit to Universal Orlando‘s newest theme park, Epic Universe! ©Universal While the park does not officially open until May 22nd, 2025, park previews have been taking place, and we were finally able to check out the park for ourselves! Universal describes Epic Universe as their “most ambitious theme park yet” with 50 new attractions, new gift shops, new shows, and, of course, new restaurants! We happen to know a thing or two about food (it’s literally in our name!), and we were blown away by one of the snacks we got to try. Of course, we are going to tell you all about it! We need to note that while we were able to experience Epic Universe as part of a preview, photos, and videos are still not currently allowed in the park. But we will get to experience Epic Universe again before it opens and will be able to take photos and videos then, so make sure you stay tuned for that! Epic Universe is home to five different themed lands, including Celestial Park, The Wizarding World of Harry Potter – Ministry of Magic, SUPER NINTENDO WORLD, How to Train Your Dragon – Isle of Berk, and Dark Universe. ©Universal We spent the day riding A TON of rides, meeting characters, and checking out all the immersive details in the park, so naturally, we were hungry after a long day and headed to The Oak & Star Tavern to refuel! The Oak & Star Tavern ©Universal This barbecue joint is located in Epic Universe’s hub, Celestial Park. According to Universal at Oak & Star Tavern, you “can gather with family or friends ’round the fiery hearth of an ancient, starlight-filled oak tree.” The menu includes a BBQ Platter with Mango Bread and pickles, and let us tell you, the bread is the star of the show! ©Universal This restaurant should satisfy most eaters. For our Disney World fans, it is like Regal Eagle Smokehouse in EPCOT, but BETTER! Oak & Star Tavern is very nature-inspired and fits well in Celestial Park. There are multiple dining rooms, and it is a low-key, quick-service location. We were able to order places with either two meats or one meat and a side. If you are going to eat anything at Epic Universe, we recommend that you make it a point to try the Mango Bread! ©Universal When we first tried it, it kind of reminded us of pumpkin. It is not spicy and is just a bit sticky on the outside. It is a small loaf, kind of like a loaf of cornbread. ©Universal While the Mango Bread was our favorite part of our meal, we also liked the hearty baked beans. For our meat, we tried the brisket and pulled pork. Of course, there is no shortage of sauces, as there are four to choose from! We will say that there are no real “kids meals” here; it is just kind of “one size fits all.” ©Universal We are so excited to return to Epic Universe and explore even more, so make sure to continue following along with us at the Disney Food Blog! Take a Look at Some of the Other Food Options at Epic Universe! Read more: DFB's complete guide to Universal’s Epic Universe >> Do you have a vacation planned to visit Epic Universe this year? 18. Magic Kingdom is going through some serious changes right now! Cinderella Castle There are TWO new lounges currently being built in the park — one is a DVC Lounge in Frontierland and the other is the highly-anticipated Pirates Tavern in Adventureland. Disney hasn’t shared a ton about the Frontierland lounge, McKim’s Mile House, but we’ve been keeping an eye on the construction. And, all that waiting has paid off because McKim’s Mile House opens at Magic Kingdom today! The name of the lounge, McKim’s Mile House, refers to Disney Imagineer and Legend Sam McKim, who designed the Disneyland souvenir maps issued between 1958 and 1964. The second half of the lounge’s name, “Mile House,” was a term that was used back during the Gold Rush to help mark a building that was a mile from some important destination — which is fitting for this new lounge’s location! Let’s go! This place is INCREDIBLE! Inside, you’ll find plenty of seating, plus a Coke Freestyle machine and other beverages, WiFi, and plenty of places to rest and recharge — literally. There are outlets built into some of the tables here. The story is that you are stopping in at the McKim’s roadhouse. They still live here (you can see their family quarters on the inaccessible second floor). Family names on the doors upstairs Guest names on the doors include: B. T. Bullion (Barnabus T. Bullion) – a character from BTMR M. Davis (Marc Davis) – Imagineer Hoot – Hoot the Owl who was originally supposed to be an animatronic on the Western River Expedition attraction WOW Access to this lounge is available to Disney Vacation Club members with Membership Magic access. You can also visit as a guest of a DVC member. DVC members get up to 4 guests OR if they’re staying in a resort room, everyone on the reservation can enjoy McKim’s Mile House. So spacious We think this lounge is 100% worth going to if you’re a DVC Member. It’s cozy as all get-out and feels like the perfect escape from the crowds of Magic Kingdom. Plus, with access to coffee and Coca-Cola freestyle machines, it just makes for a great way to take a break. It’s a really great perk if you have DVC or a friend who’s in DVC! Plenty of seating The design perfectly suits Frontierland both on the outside and on the inside. It looks like a little log cabin on the outside and we love all the nods to Frontierland history as well that are inside. While we do wish that it was open to more than just DVC Members and their guests, we know that’s part of what keeps DVC exclusive — the perks! Lots of spaces to charge! McKim, the Imagineer, did many of the drawings for Frontierland and you can spot a few of them on the walls here. The horse drawings (South and West by the door) and the bottommost frame on the staircase gallery wall were both pieces by McKim! Lots of fun art McKim’s Mile House is open from 11 AM to 6 PM at Magic Kingdom, exclusively for Disney Vacation Club Members and their guests. Make sure you check it out on your next visit if you’re able to! In the meantime, we’ll be on the lookout for more updates from Magic Kingdom and Disney World. 19. There’s a NEW lounge at Disney World, but you have to be a member to get in! McKim’s Mile House is the new DVC lounge in Magic Kingdom! That’s right — only Disney Vacation Club members can use this relaxing spot, and trust us, if you’re a member you’re going to want to stop by! McKim’s Mile House is open in Magic Kingdom! It’s located in Frontierland near the Country Bear Jamboree — in the building that used to be the Frontierland Shootin’ Arcade. You may remember that construction walls went up around that building last summer, and now they have come down to reveal this new air-conditioned spot! Let’s go! The story of this lounge is that you’re traveling and stopping in at this roadhouse for a rest. It’s named for Imagineer (and now Disney Legend) Sam McKim, who drew the famous Disneyland Souvenir maps, as well as lots of concept art for Frontierland. And — fun fact — before he was an artist, he was an actor who appeared in lots of Westerns! You can see some of Sam McKim’s art framed on the walls. Some of Imagineer Sam McKim’s art is hung on the walls at McKim’s Mile House. The second floor is not accessible to guests, but you can see the family’s living quarters up there… The family quarters …as well as guest rooms belonging to B.T. Bullion (Barnabus T. Bullion is a character in Big Thunder Mountain Railroad)… Family names on the doors upstairs …M. Davis (Imagineer Marc Davis, the “father” of Cruella de Vil and Maleficent)… Imagineer Marc Davis is rooming here! …and Hoot (an owl animatronic planned for the never-built Western River Expedition attraction). Hoot the Owl, who would have been part of the never-built Western River Expedition attraction, is immortalized here. You’ll find plenty of seating here to relax and soak up some AC. Lots of seating! And this gorgeous stone fireplace is the centerpiece of the room. Fireplace! There are spots to charge your phone… Lots of spaces to charge! …as well as Coke Freestyle and coffee machines. Coke Freestyle and coffee machines are available. Access is available to DVC members with Membership Magic access. You can also visit as a guest of a DVC member. DVC members get up to 4 guests OR if you’re staying in a resort room, everyone on the reservation can come inside and sit a spell. Plenty of seating McKim’s Mile House is open from 11 AM to 6 PM, starting March 18th! We think it fits perfectly into the Frontierland theme, both inside and outside! Our only regret is that more people won’t be able to see it. Lots of fun art This is just the next step in a lot of transformation in Frontierland! The new ride Tiana’s Bayou Adventure and a totally revamped Country Bear Jamboree both opened in 2024, and Big Thunder Mountain Railroad is closed for what looks to be a complete overhaul — we’ve even spotted Disney installing new track for the roller coaster! 21. We’re getting closer and closer to the opening of Epic Universe at Universal Orlando Resort! ©Universal This BRAND-NEW theme park will officially be opening on May 22nd, 2025, and will be home to five different themed lands including Dark Universe. We’ve been keeping an eye out for any potential news ahead of the park’s opening, and we got the chance to peek inside Dark Universe at Epic Universe — here’s what you need to know. We were able to experience Epic Universe during the previews, and now we’re ranking everything you can do at Dark Universe! Dark Universe draws on Universal’s rich history with horror. There are plenty of monsters and spooky vibes to really set the mood, so be prepared for a wild time. ©Universal Once visitors step through the Dark Universe portal, they’ll step into a place full of dark energy — the village of Darkmoor: “Once guests make their way through the cemetery, they will find themselves in the village proper, where misbegotten scientific experiments scar the land and unnatural creations lurk in the shadows. This is Darkmoor, home to monsters, monster makers, monster hunters and the welcoming villagers who are just trying to survive.” 1. Monsters Unchained: The Frankenstein Experiment The ride that we were most excited to ride in this land was Monsters Unchained: The Frankenstein Experiment. This ride has 14 animatronics, but they aren’t your average animatronics. These things are SO REALISTIC that we could have sworn it was a real werewolf coming at us. ©Universal Located in the facade of Frankenstein Manor, this ride follows Dr. Victoria Frankenstein as she continues the work of her ancestors deep below the family estate. A demonstration of her experiments to control monsters goes awry when Dracula leads a revolt of enraged monsters including The Wolf Man, The Mummy, the Creature from the Black Lagoon, and more. ©Universal This ride is unbelievable. Once you go up through the manor — which looks exactly like the concept art — you’ll go through a set of rooms there with laboratory equipment, then you’ll go up through the center staircases into what we’re calling the blue electricity room. Then, you’ll see a little bit more lab work like concept drawings and then you’ll go into the “first” pre-show. This ride is unique because it has a couple different pre-shows that you go through before the actual ride — and the pre-shows are just as incredible as the rest! There are so many cool animatronics (that we don’t want to spoil!) but just know that this ride is incredible. ©Universal This ride was SO incredible — but that’s not the only thing to do in this new land! 2. Meet and Greets We also got to meet with the Invisible Man as we were walking through Darkmoor — the Dark Universe land. He was asking us about our time at Darkmoor and reassured the kiddos in our group. He had a great interaction with them and referred to himself as Jack, telling them that they could blame anything going wrong on him back at home. This meet and greet was incredible and we can’t wait for more! ©Universal This land is so beautiful and dark and immaculate and we’re having a LOT of feelings. We got to meet the Bride of Frankenstein as well, and she was just incredible. She had quick, jarring head movements like you would expect her to have from the movie. 3. Curse of the Werewolf The land’s second attraction is a spinning family coaster inspired by The Wolf Man. It’s called Curse of the Werewolf, and you’re gonna want to RACE to escape the werewolves before you become one. You’ll enter the Guild of Mystics and be “greeted by Maleva, the guild’s all-knowing seer and leader, who warns them that they bear the mark of the werewolf.” ©Universal It’s kind of slow-moving, but it doesn’t seem to need a super-fast thrill ride for it. It sort of moves in a pattern — left and right, left and right, back and forth. There are a few barn scenes that have you sliding all around, too. This is a good introductory coaster for those who don’t need a whole lot of speed and may just be in for the thrill — and, we won’t spoil anything, but the end is really cool. 4. Das Stakehaus and Burning Blade Tavern Das Stakehaus is a quick-service restaurant within Dark Universe themed around an “old inn and dining hall built over the ruins of ancient catacombs,” and The Burning Blade Tavern is an additional quick-service restaurant that pays homage to the iconic windmill from Universal’s 1931 classic Frankenstein! The Burning Blade Tavern will allow diners to eat in an “old mill which Darkmoor Village’s monster hunters [The Hounds] have transformed into their hangout.” ©Universal We got to step inside Burning Blade Tavern, and both of these are incredible. We could die here quite literally and be super happy. The Burning Blade flame is not going right now, but it’s really more so just beer and drinks, so think along the lines of the Hog’s Head Tavern. There’s hardly any seating on the inside — it’s mainly on the outside, but it is super immersive. ©Universal Das Stakehaus was also incredible — we absolutely love the theming. It is like you’re stepping into Dracula’s castle. There are a couple of statues of Dracula with a bunch of stakes in his chest, along with one of his brides on the opposite side. We’d describe this as looking like Be Our Guest at Magic Kingdom, just Gothic, and there are several portraits all along the walls. 5. Darkmoor Monster Makeup Experience At Darkmoor Monster Makeup Experience, Dr. Pretorius’ old lab has been converted into a parlor to continue the spirit of his demented experiments. Here, skilled artisans use their talents to experiment on customers and release their inner love of Universal Monsters – be they werewolves, vampires, mummies, or something even more fashionably monstrous. Dark Universe Concept Art ©Universal We didn’t actually do the experience, but when we stopped by, each of the team members there had a costume that looked like a lab coat, just like Dr. Frankenstein would wear. We think this is going to be a super fun experience for kiddos and monster fans alike! ©Universal We can’t wait for Epic Universe to officially open so we can explore more! In the meantime, we’ll be on the lookout for the latest Epic Universe updates and more! Don’t forget to stay tuned to the Disney Food Blog for more theme park news! 23. Disney World is celebrating! EPCOT There’s a lot happening in the parks right now like the new Spaceship Earth Lounge coming this year, It’s Tough To Be A Bug permanently closing, and more! As the spring break crowds kick in and the parks get busier, lines are inevitably getting longer but the longest line in EPCOT has us surprised. EPCOT is a busy park! It has rides like Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind, the Flower and Garden festival is underway, and who can resist drinking around the world? Spring Break crowds are starting to hit the parks so we knew the lines would get longer but we were super surprised to see one of the longest lines was in the UK pavilion at the UK Beer Cart for a special beverage today! This a long line! In case you missed it, March 17th is Saint Patrick’s Day and EPCOT celebrates this holiday every year with a few specialty drinks! Over in the UK, you can grab the famous green beer to sip on for the festivities. They’ve been doing this for several years and we understand why they bring it back year after year. Green Beer The beer isn’t any special flavor so it’s really just for the fun of the experience. If beer isn’t your thing you can also grab a green beverage over in the France Pavilion! This year we tried out the Citron Green Slush for our celebrations and to get in on the fun. How green! You can grab this one at Les Vins des Chefs de France which was also sporting a nice little line! To be fair though, this spot almost always has a hefty line thanks to the cold and sweet slushes at this spot. The line! If you’re not in EPCOT today, you can also grab a green drink over at Ragland Road in Disney Springs! We hope everyone is wearing their green to avoid getting pinched and enjoying the festivities no matter where you are. As always, keep following DFB for all of your Disney Parks news and updates. 24. As Disney reporters, we’re in the parks literally every day, so we know a thing or two about park essentials. Magic Kingdom Here are five essentials we can’t live without, and once you start bringing them to the parks, you won’t go back! DISCLOSURE: This post may contain affiliate links, meaning when you click the links and make a purchase, we receive a commission. INIU Portable Charger Portable Charger This is the slimmest portable charger we’ve found. We love that we can tuck it into the pockets of our backpack and leave the cord hanging or hold it with our phone and not feel the thickness. We’re always taking photos and videos everywhere we go, so this is a must! SHOP ON AMAZON Mini Backpack Organizer Insert Loungefly Organizer We love our Loungefly bags as much as anyone, but when you’re constantly changing out your bag to match a different park or outfit, switching out all of those essentials can get annoying. We love this organizer, where we keep all of our standard supplies, and we can just switch out the insert for each bag. Game changer! SHOP ON AMAZON Ultra-Lite Waterproof Breathable Rain Poncho Frogg Toggs Poncho Even as Florida locals, we don’t always understand the weather, but we do understand that afternoon rain showers during the summer are no joke. This poncho folds up super small to fit in our backpacks and is still lightweight, so we aren’t bogged down with the heat. When the storm is over, we fold it back up and tuck it back in our bags! SHOP ON AMAZON 4 Pack Cooling Towel The 4-pack of cooling towels On top of the rain, Orlando is known for the heat, but these are a real life saver. All you need to do is dip them in cold water (we like using ice water we get for free at quick-service restaurants) and place them around your neck or waist. When you’re waiting in one of those gnarly outdoor queues, you’ll be thanking yourself for throwing these in your bag last minute. SHOP ON AMAZON HOKA Women’s Bondi 9 Sneaker ©Amazon Because we’re on our feet all day, we know the best park shoes and HOKAs are always our go-tos. We love the cushion on the soles and how we can get a basic color to match our outfits while still providing maximum comfort. Trust us, we’ve tried every shoe out there, and HOKAs remain in our top. SHOP ON AMAZON Having a full park day on vacation can be overwhelming but these five items make those long days so much easier!
