The Disney Adventure will set sail on its maiden voyage out of Singapore on December 15, 2025! And when it does, this ship will bring a whole new level of magic to the high seas. From first-of-their-kind experiences and energetic new stage shows, to dozens of dining options and countless character encounters, the Disney Adventure will be both a journey and a destination, providing an unforgettable vacation for everyone on board. With seven themed areas, all-day entertainment and plenty of space for family fun, there will be so much to discover. So, how will you decide what to do first? We’ve explored the ship from bow to stern and here are the top, must-do Disney Adventure experiences: 1. Assemble Your Squad at Marvel Landing Grab your family and head to Marvel Landing on the upper decks to experience hero-sized fun at our first adventure zone at sea, featuring three all-new Disney attractions. On Ironcycle Test Run, Disney Cruise Line’s first-ever rollercoaster, riders will test-drive Tony Stark’s latest Ironcycle prototype on a thrilling high-speed circuit. Following a rapid-fire driving lesson from F.R.I.D.A.Y., you’ll push the new technology to its limits on a gravity-defying ride suspended up to 30 feet above the upper deck on the soon-to-be longest roller coaster at sea. On Pym Quantum Racers, you’ll take the wheel of Pym Tech-modified mini-cars for a zip around a full-scale toy set track, navigating outsized and undersized obstacles along the way. And, you can even blast into an awesome mix of high-soaring feats and bass-boosted beats on Groot Galaxy Spin. After an Avengers-level adventure, cool off at Marvel Landing’s sleek sundeck with an infinity pool and grab some refreshments at the pool bar – all inspired by Tony Stark’s residence – while taking in the beautiful ocean views. 2. Experience Captivating Entertainment with Brand-New Stage Shows and More The Disney Adventure will offer entertainment on an epic scale – unforgettable character encounters, dazzling Broadway-style shows, signature events, first-run films, private karaoke rooms, game shows and more. Sure to make a lasting impression is the all-new stage show, “Remember” debuting at the Walt Disney Theater. A heartfelt tale of love and longing, the show stars Wall-E and Eve along with a colorful supporting cast. After an unexpected reboot of Eve, Wall-E will call on heroes from Pixar Animation Studio’s “Coco,” Walt Disney Animation Studios’ “The Little Mermaid” and “Aladdin,” and other classic films to help restore his loved one through the power of music, hope and treasured memories. A favorite of the fleet, “Disney Seas the Adventure” will also take to the Walt Disney Theater stage, guiding guests on a musical journey through beloved stories featuring iconic Disney songs and characters. Beyond Broadway-style musicals, Disney Adventure will debut new shows at the state-of-the-art Disney Imagination Garden stage. Set in front of three-deck-high LED screens, the Garden Stage will host an exciting line-up of shows all day long – whether it’s kicking off the vacation with Let’s Set Sail, a high-energy dance party that will jumpstart the fun on embarkation day; watching an epic battle of Marvel Super Heroes and Villains in Avengers Assemble!; going on a hilarious adventure helmed by everyone’s favorite roguish pirate in Captain Jack Sparrow & The Siren Queen; singing and grooving along to classic Disney tunes during Mickey’s Color Spin Dance Party or getting physical with the Baymax Super Exercise Expo. 3. Enjoy More Than a Meal: Dine at Immersive New Restaurants With Disney Cruise Line’s signature rotational dining, you’ll have three distinct dining experiences during your voyage. These restaurants will bring the magic of Disney characters and storytelling to every meal. Offering dinner with a flair, the Navigator’s Club and Hollywood Spotlight Club will recall the traditions and glamour of the golden age with signature entertainment and special appearances by Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse, Donald Duck and Daisy Duck. At Animator’s Palate and Animator’s Table, the legacy and artistry of Disney and Pixar animated films will set the stage for a magical evening. As you dine, your own drawings will star alongside famous characters in a show-stopping, on-screen animated finale shown throughout the dining rooms. Enchanted Summer Restaurant will bring the worlds of Disney Animation’s “Tangled” and “Frozen” to life in a cozy village dining hall. In the Maximus dining room, you’ll step into a colorful, hand-painted rendition of “Tangled” while the Olaf dining room will feel like a summer snow day in the kingdom of Arendelle. Located near Toy Story Place, Pixar Market Restaurant will be a celebration of Pixar films. Each dining area will capture the spirit of one of the studio’s enduring films from “Inside Out” and “Monsters University” to “Turning Red,” “The Incredibles” and more. The Disney Adventure will also have two premium dining restaurants. Palo Trattoria will serve exquisite Italian fare for adults only. At the all-new Mike & Sulley’s – Flavors of Asia, you can satisfy your monstrous appetite with four distinct experiences: a full-service Japanese steakhouse, a lively teppanyaki room, a chic bar with Omakase-style dining and outdoor dining featuring sushi and sashimi. If grabbing a bite or a tasty tea is more your preference, you can visit different quick-service restaurants throughout the ship including Gramma Tala’s Kitchen, Mowgli’s Eatery, Stitch’s ‘Ohana Grill, Cosmic Kebabs and Palo Café. At Bewitching Boba and Brews in Disney Discovery Reef, popular bubble teas and other wickedly delicious concoctions will be available in a vibrant environment inspired by the ocean’s most sorcerous sea witch, Ursula. 4. Create Core Memories: Family Fun Throughout the Ship San Fransokyo Street, inspired by the eclectic world of Disney Animation’s “Big Hero 6,” will be a vibrant street market perfect for family entertainment with interactive games and activities, shops, cinemas and more, plus endearing encounters with the larger-than-life Baymax himself. You’ll be able to put your hero skills to the test in the Hiro Training Zone, an immersive training simulator built by boy genius Hiro Hamada. The active, full-body experience will have groups of four running, dodging and blocking their way across a high-tech gaming floor. If soaking up the sun is more your style, you’ll find an open-air oasis at Wayfinder Bay. Tucked away at the back of the ship, this relaxing pool area will feature plush seating offering some of the ship’s most stunning views of sea and sky. Guests of all ages can cool down with a frosty beverage from Voyager Bar or chill out in the wading pool with built-in sun shelf. Paired with a jumbo LED screen, the wading pool will double as a one-of-a-kind performance venue for live shows and interactive events including “Moana: Call of the Sea,” a musical adventure that retells Moana’s epic quest across the ocean. 5. Star in Their Own Story: Kids-Only Spaces Encourage Creativity A world of possibilities will await the youngest guests onboard the Disney Adventure. Disney Cruise Line’s signature spaces for kids from six months to 17-years-old – including it’s a small world nursery, Disney’s Oceaneer Club, Edge and Vibe – will bring their favorite stories to life in dedicated areas designed just for them. With plenty of space for play, storytelling, creativity, arts and crafts, gaming, watching movies and, of course, meeting their favorite Disney characters, kids can learn, explore and make memories of their own all while under the supervision of Disney-trained counselors. On the upper decks, Toy Story Place will take kids “to infinity and beyond” in a colorful, larger-than-life toy land with a large family pool, whirlpools, slides, splash pads and dining options, plus outdoor screenings of Disney movies, trivia and more. 6. Unwind and Indulge: Experiences Designed with Adults in Mind When it’s time to take a break during a busy day onboard, adults can retreat to a selection of different spaces – from relaxing with a treatment at the spa, practicing yoga or grabbing a juice at the Fitness Center, or enjoying an intimate dinner at one of the ship’s premium restaurants. Throughout the ship adults will also find lively bars and lounges including the Buccaneer Bar, where a swashbuckling good time will await thanks to a collection of high-end brews and live sports broadcasts, and Spellbound, a shadowy lounge inspired by the Queen from Disney Animation’s “Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs,” serving up delicious potions and cocktails. Phew! That was a lot to cover – and we didn’t even get to it all. There is so much to discover onboard the Disney Adventure. For a full list of the incredible, immersive spaces and experiences planned for the ship, visit the Disney Cruise Line website and stay tuned on the Disney Parks Blog for the latest news. Bookings for the Disney Adventure are scheduled to open on December 10, 2024. Details on sailing dates will be released on November 14, 2024. Earlier this year, Disney World and Disneyland did away with the Genie+ skip-the-line system and introduced Lightning Lane Multi Pass and Single Pass, which worked much like the Genie+ system. Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway Lightning Lane We’ve had a chance to use both Multi Pass and Single Pass by now, and just when we thought we had gotten the hang of it, Disney goes and introduces a whole NEW Lightning Lane Premier Pass. Here’s what we know. Disney has introduced a NEW Lightning Lane Premier Pass to go along with the current Multi Pass and Single Pass. ©Disney Just as the current passes allow you to skip the line, Premier Pass will do the same — but it won’t be available to everyone. Beginning October 30th, Disney World will begin rolling out this new pilot program. With Lightning Lane Premier Pass, parkgoers will be able to use the pass to skip the line at each participating attraction once per day. Lightning Lane At Disney World, Lightning Lane Premier Pass will only be available to folks staying at Deluxe and Deluxe Villas hotels. Guests at these hotels will be able to purchase Premier Passes up to seven days in advance of their stay, except for on the launch date which will have no advance purchases. Lightning Lane Like Multi Pass, Premier Pass will be park-specific and will have different pricing depending on the park and date that are chosen. As of now, no Park Hopper option has been revealed. Here’s a look at the Lightning Lane Premier Passes per person, per day for Disney World: Magic Kingdom: $329-$449 plus tax Disney’s Animal Kingdom: $129-$199 plus tax EPCOT: $169-$249 plus tax Disney’s Hollywood Studios: $269-$349 plus tax Lightning Lane As a reminder, these are the hotels eligible for Lightning Lane Premier Pass at Disney World: Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge Disney’s Beach Club Resort Disney’s BoardWalk Inn Disney’s Contemporary Resort Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort Disney’s Wilderness Lodge Disney’s Yacht Club Resort Bay Lake Tower at Disney’s Contemporary Resort Boulder Ridge Villas at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge The Cabins at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort – A Disney Vacation Club Resort (eligibility applies to Disney Vacation Club Cabins only) Copper Creek Villas & Cabins at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge Disney’s Animal Kingdom Villas – Jambo House Disney’s Animal Kingdom Villas – Kidani Village Disney’s Beach Club Villas Disney’s BoardWalk Villas Disney’s Old Key West Resort Disney’s Polynesian Villas & Bungalows Disney’s Saratoga Springs Resort & Spa Disney’s Riviera Resort The Villas at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa Other eligible hotels: Walt Disney World Dolphin Hotel Walt Disney World Swan Hotel Walt Disney World Swan Reserve Shades of Green Resort At Disneyland, the pilot program is rolling out in just one week — October 23rd. But, Disneyland’s version of the Premier Pass will be available to everyone on a first-come, first-served basis with limited availability. Disneyland’s Premier Pass will also include Lightning Lanes in both Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure for the same day. Lightning Lane at Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway Throughout 2024, the Disneyland Lightning Lane Premier Pass will cost $400 per person, per day for adults and children. Ok Disney World, we don’t care how much this adorable souvenir costs as long as we can take it home! It’s Halloween in Disney World! Popcorn buckets are some of our favorite Disney souvenirs and there have been some real winners this Halloween season! While we’re still freaking out over The Nightmare Before Christmas-inspired buckets, Disney World has brought another absolute winner to the parks with its latest Halloween popcorn bucket featuring “Experiment 626” making its debut at Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party! The ridiculously popular Vampire Stitch popcorn bucket debuted at Disneyland in September (and quickly sold out) and fans have been wondering when we’d see it make the jump to the East Coast. Well, now we know! The Vampire Stitch popcorn bucket officially debuts at Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party beginning October 15th, 2024! ©Disney For now, this bucket can be found at Magic Kingdom’s Halloween party, but we have seen these buckets eventually get a wider release over time. This is not guaranteed, however, so if you want to grab one for face value at Disney World, your best bet is attending Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party. Vampire Stitch Popcorn Bucket in Disneyland This event-exclusive popcorn bucket will be limited to two purchases per person while supplies last. It’s likely supplies don’t last long either, as this cute souvenir sold out FAST at Disney California Adventure’s Oogie Boogie Bash. We recommend getting in line early before the party starts and being prepared to grab one of these ASAP. ©Disney The Vampire Stitch popcorn bucket is based on the loveable alien from the Lilo & Stitch franchise in his spookiest trick-or-treating costume, cape and all! You can pick him up at a participating popcorn cart in Magic Kingdom during the event. Magic Kingdom Popcorn Cart Have you experienced Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party yet this year? Disney parks are just a popular place to spot a celebrity as of late and this might be the enchanting visit of them all! ©Disneyland We’ve spotted the likes of celebrities splurging on Disney souvenirs, eating at some of our favorite Disney World restaurants, and hanging out with Mickey overseas, but if Halloween is your season (or you just really keep up with pop culture), the celeb who recently paid a visit to Disneyland will blow your mind! If you’ve been keeping up with the latest Disney+ series it’s hard not to notice Agatha All Along. The highly anticipated spin-off series from the MARVEL hit series WandaVision, is dedicated to the villain we’ve grown to love, Agatha Harkness. ©Marvel This new series details the trials and tribulations the lone witch must face as she begins her quest to walk the Witches Road after assembling a rather testy coven of strong-willed witches that aren’t particularly fond of Agatha. The popular villain played by Kathryn Hahn has turned the focal point of this brand new series and it seems to have taken its viewers by storm leaving us all wanting answers to each episodes cliffhanging endings. ©Marvel The character’s popularity has soared to new heights and has even drummed up its own line of merchandise to showcase the series, which has bestowed Hahn with her very own Agatha All Along Minnie ears. ©Disneyland Hahn was photographed showing off the latest Minnie ear headband which features call backs to her wicked character and notable nods from the show. Most impressive at the center of the bow is Agatha’s signature “Mother, Maiden, Crone” crest which she keeps close to her chest (and seems like there may be more of a backstory to than we’ve already caught a glimpse of). Each of the faux leather ears are embossed with barren tree branches and the left side even features a crescent moon. ‘Agatha All Along’ ears It’s super fun to see celebrities having fun in Disneyland and Disney World and we couldn’t be happier for Kathryn and by extension Agatha to be the next Disney villain featured on such an iconic Disney souvenir. We’re always watching for who we’ll spot in Disney next! Be sure to stay tuned with us at Disney Food Blog for future celeb sightings. We Spotted a NEW Halloween Addition in Disneyland! Sometimes all you need to turn your mundane day around at EPCOT is an ice-cold beverage and a staple Disney World snack. Luckily, we know just where you should head next! Our whole meal to review We already know you’re busy hitting up the many booths for everything you can snack on in one day at EPCOT’s Food & Wine Festival but if you find yourself a little tired of repeats and are ready to rediscover a timeless kiosk that will be there year-round for you, we can’t recommend this place enough! Congratulations! You’ve made it halfway around the World Showcase and it’s time to stop for a spell at Block & Hans. Block & Hans You’ll find this permanent snack kiosk tucked in the corner of The American Adventure which faces The American Gardens Theater and is neighbored by the delicious Funnel Cakes stand. This is a well known stop for those with a keen eye or repeat visitors due to its beer, ale, and hard cider options. Atmosphere As you make your way over to the kiosk you’ll probably be most drawn in by its unique shape. It mimics a small gazebo of sorts with a round kiosk with hard sides, which sets it apart from the rest of the structures found around the same area. Step right up! It’s tied together to the colonial American theming with the red, white, and blue banners along with its sign (looking regal as ever). It’s pretty open concept, which makes for a cool experience to watch your beers freshly poured and talk over the menu options with the Cast Members inside. The line is typically pretty short here, so there’s just a singular line to order and slide down a few steps until you’re handed your items. Sign above order window Those with eagle eyes will spot a bit of additional theming at the kiosk, but you’ll have to be close enough to look within it. As you’re ordering, take a moment to look above and beyond the Cast Member to take in all the details of the jugs, tins, and jars resting on shelves. Colonial style theming Now, where were we? Ah, yes…it’s time to place our order! Menu The menu here reflects the short and to the point style of the atmosphere for this kiosk. There are a few ales, a hard cider, but mostly beers for beverage options. Menu Occasionally, there are specialty offerings, like this drink offered during EPCOT’s Food & Wine Festival along with the beer flight highlighted by cards. Cards for specialty drinks There’s also a single snack option here, the Mickey Pretzel with cheese. Drinks We decided to go all out this time and place our order all together (which meant we needed to walk verrrry carefully not to spill anything over to our table). We opted for the Ciderboys Strawberry Magic Hard Cider, Kentucky Bourbon Barrel Ale, and a classic Mickey Pretzel with cheddar cheese sauce. Let’s eat! Let’s tell you about the drinks we ordered first. We kicked off this review with the Ciderboys Strawberry Magic Hard Cider which cost us $13. Ciderboys Strawberry Hard Cider Surprisingly, this one kept things very interesting! It’s a light hard cider that’s strawberry flavored and bubbles like a sparking soda as it trickles down your throat. It’s served very cold, which helps bring that initial strawberry flavor to the forefront of your tired and thirsty tastebuds and makes for a very easy drink to sip on as you’re cooling off. Deliciously fruity! We really enjoyed this drink and while the price is a little steep, you get a very sizable pour that was filled as full as we could get it. For the price and taste, we would totally get this again and felt it’s a great option if you’re looking for something to leisurely sip on or enjoy a hearty meal with. Then it was time to tackle the grittier Kentucky Bourbon Barrel Ale. This drink is also served on draft and will cost you just $12 for a full cup. Kentucky Bourbon Barrel Ale If you’re a bourbon fan, this is definitely a drink you’ll want to try! Kentucky is known for their boundless bourbon distilleries and how they’re able to capture that well-rounded barrel packaged flavor within their drinks. That color fits the robust flavor Its definitely beefier than the hard cider we tried before this one, but if you fancy yourself more of a smokey bourbon drinker over a beer or lighter IPA or cider taste, this is one drink you won’t want to skip on your next trip to EPCOT. Eats Ok, after sipping on two drinks it was time to put something into our belly that gave us a bit of sustenance, and we all know that snacks taste better when they’re Mickey-shaped. That’s right, the solo snackeroo here is a Mickey Pretzel with cheddar cheese served as a combo for $8.25. Mickey Pretzel This is a classic, soft and fluffy, yet salted Mickey shaped pretzel whose expression is too adorable to pass up. It’s a timeless snack for a reason and we immediately saw why it fit the menu here so easily. The pretzel was warm, well cooked, and easy to pull apart without feeling super hard (sometimes these pretzels are a bit hit or miss on that). Cheddar cheese sauce In terms of flavor, the pretzel itself is pretty bland unless you’re getting that salt in each of your bites, so we were glad to see the cheddar cheese sauce served with it. Inside of the pretzel There’s plenty in the cup to be able to dip every bite if you wanted to and it creates a thin coating on the outside of the pretzel unless you really scoop it on to your snack. Dippable While this is a snack you can get at multiple snack kiosks and carts around EPCOT — and most places in Disney World for that matter, we felt it fit the bill here the best to counter the various beers, ales, and hard cider served at Block & Hans. Overall All in all, this is a snack spot that doesn’t seem to get the appreciation it deserves (and their service is super quick). This isn’t meant to be a place where you stop and stay for awhile, so it doesn’t build up unnecessary crowds too quickly — which means you’re free to continue roaming when you’re ready. A solid snack However, if you do want to stop for a bit there are several picnic tables nearby that serve as an impromptu hang out for you and a few friends! Nosh or Not? Set course for Block & Hans as you’re crossing the Delaware (err, World Showcase) if… You’re looking for a great, cold, alcoholic beverage! They’re the bulk of the business here so yeah, it’s kinda their specialty. You like a photogenic snack and drink with a great variety of breathtaking backgrounds. There’s seriously so many places to show off your drinks and eats here; the World Showcase lagoon with Spaceship Earth in the distance, the cascading fountain in the center of the pavilion, and even a colonial style smoker nearby if that’s more your style. You don’t need to get super fancy with your drinks and eats; it’s more about the taste. Mmm…quality over quantity is the name of the game for this kiosk, and it’s got the “proof” in flavor to back it up. Set sail for another settlement if… You need a variety of selections to choose from. If you’re someone who needs lots of options to decide which drink or two to try out, this might not be as extensive as you prefer. You’re looking for an appetizer-like snack with your drinks. Sorry folks, there’s one snacky snack that reigns supreme here — the big cheese himself (dipped in a tub of cheese). Hard liquor is more what you’re craving rather than beer, ale, and ciders. Ah, while this isn’t quite the stop for you, you’re in luck! Try the beverage window just outside of the neighboring Regal Eagle Smokehouse just a few steps away for more spirited options. We’re just about a month away from the most wonderful time of the year at the Most Magical, Merriest Place On Earth, and I’m going to present you with some holly jolly news to add to your “Reasons To Visit Walt Disney World For The Holidays Starting November 12” list. In fact, we’re going to gift you totally tinsel tidbits all week long! Meet Santa Claus at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park Over the last few years, you may have seen Kris Kringle waving to guests as he sailed around the waterways of Disney’s Animal Kingdom during the holiday cavalcades. This year, you can meet Santa Claus at the 75th Annual Dino Institute Holiday Party on the patio at Restaurantosaurus. As the guest of honor himself, Santa’s checked his list twice and invited everyone to join him in this festive new location as the students and faculty of the Dino Institute celebrate the season in (pre)-historic fashion from November 12-December 24. Bring the whole family, because a Santa sighting is perfect for the little ones! Other Wild Ways to Celebrate the Holidays After stopping by Restaurantosaurus to say “ho ho ho” to Santa, be sure to hoof it back to Discovery Island for the return of the happiest little animal herd around – the Merry Menagerie. These enchanting puppets feature winter animals of all sorts … and I need to boop each creature gently on the nose to start my holidays off right. You can also meet the holiday hosts with the most, Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse, dressed in their festive finest together at Adventurers Outpost. And, after a full day of shopping for your gift list (Merry Menagerie merch, anyone?) and sampling delicious goodies (stay tuned for a holiday Foodie Guide coming soon!), stop by after dark for sensational, seasonal Tree of Life Awakenings that bring the spirits of winter animals to life. Fresh Festive Entertainment at Disney’s Hollywood Studios We all know Disney’s Hollywood Studios is a festive place to be with the cutest retro holiday decorations – and this year, there are three new entertainment acts to fill the whole family with joy, all starting November 12! Be sure to check My Disney Experience for days and showtimes to catch the new acts. Marvel at the skills of Juggling Elves – these holiday helpers deliver festive cheer with a side of shenanigans as they show off their skills of juggling, comedy and more! Catch the jaunty jolly tunes of the Holiday Spirit Band. This dynamic brass group will make everyone in your party want to join in the fun and stroll into Santa’s good graces. And pick up your feet and march along with Seasons Jukebox as they bring all the performance and pep of a collegiate marching band. Hard-hitting horns, rocking drummers, and dazzling dancers will bring to life everyone’s favorite holiday classics and more. Of course, other beloved Disney’s Hollywood Studios holiday fun also begins on November 12 – like the holiday overlay to For the First Time In Forever: A Frozen Sing-Along Celebration; another fabulous place to find Santa greeting guests at It’s A Wonderful Shop; and Sunset Seasons Greetings – with festive projections on The Hollywood Tower Hotel and magical snowfall – all along Sunset Boulevard once the sun sets on Tinsel Town. And you get all of that with your park ticket to Disney’s Hollywood Studios! If you’re looking for even more razzle dazzle in your holiday celebrations, don’t forget about all the extra entertainment and festive fun at the separately ticketed event, Disney Jollywood Nights. Make Your List, Check It Twice As we count down to the start of holidays at Walt Disney World, I hope you’re making plans to visit with the whole family for some holly jolly memory making. Stay tuned for even more reasons to visit during the holidays all week! The post New Holiday Fun at Disney’s Hollywood Studios and Disney’s Animal Kingdom appeared first on Disney Parks Blog. Disney’s Hollywood Studios is about to look way different than you last remembered it! ©Disney Between Disney World’s latest closure of an attraction to make way for a divisive villains show, adding a whole new rollercoaster centered around the Monstropolis world of Monster’s Inc., and teasing a revised beloved show in the works for this park, things are about to get very busy here. But, we recently spotted one more update to a change that we thought had kind of gone dormant until now! If you visited Disney’s Hollywood Studios in the 90s or early 2000s chances are you probably stopped in to see the Voyage of the Little Mermaid show (even if it was JUST for the AC). This dimly lit stage show captivated audiences with the familiar storyline from the Disney animated classic movie for decades before shutting its theater doors for the pandemic closures. Voyage of the Little Mermaid will soon become “The Little Mermaid — A Musical Adventure” Unfortunately, time was not kind to this attraction, and when we started to see the parks reopen this was one that just didn’t quite make the cut. However, not all hope was lost for this space because, in December 2023, Disney World broke the news of plans to bring a revised version of the show back to Disney’s Hollywood Studios. It once again garnered quite the attention sitting inside Animation Courtyard. The new show titled The Little Mermaid — A Musical Adventure was originally set to debut in Fall 2024. The Little Mermaid: A Musical Adventure However, since the original timeline was announced to debut the show in Fall 2024, Disney most recently has delayed that debut. But all is not lost there, we recently discovered a newly filed permit to replace the sign at the theater. New permit filed! On October 15th, 2024, Walt Disney Imagineering filed the permit upcoming work to be performed by Design Communications LTD. The permit doesn’t specify a specific timeline for the new sign to be installed however, these kinds of permits usually allow for a year from filing for the work to be completed. So it’s possible we may not see any immediate action to remove the current sign and Disney World could certainly take their time installing the next. Either way, it’s an exciting update that we’ll be sure to keep watch over as it progresses. Ashton Montgomery, Costume Designer with Disney Live Entertainment, got the call of a lifetime shortly after Tiana’s Bayou Adventure at Disneyland Resort was announced. She was selected to help create a new costume collection for cast members that will bring the vibrant atmosphere of Mardi Gras to life on the bayou just in time for the transformation to Bayou Country when Tiana’s Bayou Adventure opens on November 15, 2024. Ashton’s #DisneyCastLife spans a wide range of experiences across both coasts. Starting with a summer job at Walt Disney World in food & beverage in 2011, she later found her passion for attractions during her Disney College Program in 2014. After gaining hands-on experience in various roles and receiving her Master of Fine Arts in Costume Design from the University of California, Irvine, she returned to Disney as a professional intern with Disney Live Entertainment. Ashton eventually transitioned into her dream role as a full-time costume designer. Ashton when she worked in Housekeeping, posing with Princess Tiana and Prince Naveen, 2014. When Ashton became a full-time costume designer, she joined the project team tasked with bringing Princess Tiana’s dream to life. Her involvement in this project deepened her connection to the rich cultural heritage of New Orleans, a connection that she channeled into her costume designs for Disneyland Resort. Her designs go beyond mere uniforms; they are integral to the storytelling, setting the stage for guests as they step into Bayou Country. Each costume is thoughtfully crafted to reflect the lively culture and spirit of New Orleans, transforming the cast into true storytellers. The inspiration for the costumes comes from a blend of period authenticity, New Orleans culture and creative imagination. Ashton began her design process by researching period photos from farmer’s markets, envisioning what Tiana’s friends and coworkers might wear in real life. “We incorporated historical references, such as men’s workwear from the period, but with modern updates for durability and comfort,” Ashton said. A vibrant palette inspired by “Mardi Gras vegetables” as Ashton likes to call it, was developed, mixing classic Mardi Gras hues with earthy tones. From prints mimicking flour sacks repurposed into clothing to playful motifs, each piece weaves a part of Tiana’s story, inviting guests to discover magic in every detail. The design process was a collaborative effort, evolving over several years. “We engaged in frequent discussions with Walt Disney Imagineering (WDI), refining the designs to ensure they suited both the attraction and cast members’ roles,” she said. The team conducted fit tests with cast members who would eventually work at the attraction, fine-tuning costumes to balance functionality with immersion in Tiana’s story. The costumes are designed to be mix-and-matched, allowing cast members flexibility, and are made from breathable fabric to ensure they stay comfortable throughout the day. Ashton shared her excitement for the next phase, eager to see her designs come to life with the opening team. “[Cast members] are hopefully going to fall in love with these outfits. I really want it to be something they feel comfortable in and like they are a part of the story of Bayou Country.” She looks forward to seeing how they’ll mix and match the pieces, bringing their own creativity and personal style to the costumes. Entertainment Cast Costumes Custodial Cast Costumes Ashton’s connection to the Bayou Country reimagination feels like a storybook come true. She fondly recalls her days working in attractions, where she would dream about one day becoming a costume designer for Disney. Fast forward to today, and Ashton’s vision has become a reality. Her designs don’t just outfit cast members; they breathe life into the entire area of the park. “I take costumes to heart because I was the cast member wearing them day in and day out,” she said. Ashton believes these new looks will not only elevate the cast members’ roles but also bring a vibrancy to Bayou Country. Guided by her creativity and passion, Ashton, along with a collective talent of costumers, buyers, pattern makers, sewers and more come together to bring these designs to life– ensuring that every costume is not just an outfit, but an invitation to experience Disney storytelling in a new and meaningful way. Big changes are coming for the “wildest ride in the wilderness”! Big Thunder Mountain Railroad Since it opened in 1980, Big Thunder Mountain Railroad has been one of the most popular rides at Disney World. Despite many attractions and even full theme parks that have opened since this Magic Kingdom staple has remained one of the resort’s busiest rides consistently over the last 40+ years. However, things are about to change. In October 2024, Disney announced that Big Thunder Mountain Railroad would be closing for a massive, year-long refurbishment beginning in early 2025. According to Disney, “Big Thunder Mountain Railroad will temporarily close for refurbishment on January 6, 2025. The attraction will reopen with a little bit of new magic in 2026.” ©Disney This timeline roughly matches up with a permit we discovered earlier this year. Back in June, Disney filed a permit for “general construction” of Big Thunder Mountain Railroad. The permit names Coastal Steel, Inc. — the same group currently working on the ongoing Test Track refurbishment — as the firm scheduled to complete the work. At the time we noted that the permit stretched longer than usual, running to August of 2025. However, this jives with Disney’s 2026 reopening timeline. Big Thunder Mountain Railroad So, what changes are coming to Big Thunder Mountain during its year-long downtime? Well, while we’re not sure, clues can perhaps be found in its West Coast counterpart at Disneyland. While Big Thunder Mountain was first conceptualized for Disney World — as part of Marc Davis’s legendary unbuilt Thunder Mesa/Western River Expedition complex — the first version of the Tony Baxter-designed attraction actually opened at Disneyland in 1979. Big Thunder Mountain at Disneyland Following a major refurbishment of its own about a decade ago, the Disneyland Big Thunder currently provides a much smoother ride than its Walt Disney World sibling thanks to a brand new track and features a slew of special effects that Florida’s is lacking, including the “explosive” finale segment involving faux dynamite. Could a new track, or at least clones of these special effects, be coming to Disney World during this year-long refurbishment? As for now, Disney hasn’t shared too many details about what all this refurbishment will entail, so we’ll have to keep a close eye on things while we wait for more news. Keep checking back here for the latest announcements! Big Thunder Mountain Big Thunder Mountain, one of the Magic Kingdom’s most popular rides, is going down for a year-long refurbishment this coming January. If you’ve been dazzled by the dancing display of lights twinkling around the Boardwalk lately, or dreaming of when you’ll finally be able to taste one of those fluffy cake slices from Disney World’s upcoming restaurant, we just got one step closer! The Cake Bake Shop sign We’ve been tracking the progress of a highly anticipated addition to Disney World since before its construction began and this latest visual update may suggest an opening date announcement could be coming soon! Since there’s been a little movement happening around Disney’s Boardwalk Inn lately, we decided to hop on by and see if there had been any further updates to some of the upcoming features. One place we’ve been particularly invested in for a while has been The Cake Bake Shop. The Cake Bake Shop We’ve been eagerly anticipating this latest addition to Disney World as its construction appears to be nearing its end. Most recently we’d gotten a peek at the menu, a few twinkling lights around its signs, and even seen more of the hedges surrounding it removed. More hedges removed However, on this latest visit out, we spotted a few things that may suggest an opening may be happening sooner than we thought! New seating has been placed outside with a few tables and chairs on the side of the restaurant… Seating outside! …as well as a few between the restaurant and bakery. More towards the center We also noticed there’s just a sliver of shrubbery surrounding the outside of the building which could suggest that work’s dwindling down to the final touches! As we approached the restaurant, we also noticed a sign that read a private event was in progress. Closed for a private event Due to this, it would stand to reason that the majority of the inside of the restaurant is presumably finished! While neither The Cake Bake Shop nor Disney World has officially made an announcement about the upcoming restaurant’s official opening date, you can bet we’ll be keeping a close eye out for it when it does happen! Hang the garland and turn on Mariah Carey — it’s time to celebrate the holidays! Magic Kingdom We know what you’re saying — “It’s too soon!” — and we get it. But as soon as November 1st hits, it’s officially the winter holidays…at least according to Disney World! Heck, there are ALREADY loads of festive souvenirs making their way into the parks in mid-October. No matter where you stand on this debate, some pretty big changes are coming to Disney World in November, so let’s get into it! If you’re heading to Disney World soon, be sure to check out our planning worksheets. You can click the image below to get our list and make sure you don’t forget a thing! Check out what you can look forward to in November at Disney World! Holiday Parties Return Tis the season! Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party returns to Magic Kingdom on November 8th, 2024! The popular event runs on select nights until December 2oth and we’re PUMPED. Fireworks Show Included in the price of a ticket, you’ll be able to experience Magic Kingdom with smaller crowd levels, exclusive entertainment like the famous Mickey’s Once Upon a Christmastime Parade, and special snacks and drinks. Don’t forget the complimentary cookies and hot cocoa! Tickets cost between $169 to $219. Christmas Parade Additionally, Disney is bringing back its new (and slightly controversial) Jollywood Nights event to Hollywood Studios. The event debuted last year with a lot of criticism, and although it will include some of the same things, Disney is changing it up a bit. We have to say, we’re pretty darn excited to see the new ice skating spectacular show! José and Panchito You can currently purchase tickets (from $159 to $179) for the event which runs on certain nights between November 9th and December 21st, 2024. We’re eager to see how it compares to last year so tune in on November 9th to see our thoughts! Sugar Cookie Martini Also, if you do NOT want to attend these parties, watch out for early park closures! On party nights, the parks will close earlier than usual. Check the Disney World calendar for the latest updates. FULL LIST of PRICES Announced for Jollywood Nights and Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party in Disney World EPCOT Festival of the Holidays We’re DEEP into the EPCOT Food & Wine Festival right now, but before you know it, we’ll be at the 2024 EPCOT Festival of the Holidays! This year’s event runs from November 29th to December 30th, 2024 and so many fan-favorites are returning! Gingerbread Milk Shake Not only will you have the food booths, but the Cookie Stroll, the storytellers around World Showcase, and the Candlelight Processional will all return for you to enjoy. Everything You Need to Know About the 2024 EPCOT Festival of the Holidays Typhoon Lagoon Is Closing For the past several years, you may have noticed an odd trend with Disney World’s water parks. Only ONE of them is open at a time! That trend continues in November because Typhoon Lagoon’s last day of operation will be November 3rd. Typhoon Lagoon On November 4th, it will be closed and Blizzard Beach will reopen! No major changes have been announced for Blizzard Beach, so it was likely receiving a routine refurbishment while it was closed. Summit Plummet Don’t forget — on January 1st, 2025 a new hotel perk starts that allows hotel guests to get into a Disney water park for FREE on their check-in day. Because of the timing of those reopening, Blizzard Beach will likely be the first water park where you get to use this perk! 2 NEW Perks For Your 2025 Disney World Hotel Stay Wine & Dine Half Marathon Weekend Heading to Disney World during the first weekend of November? Get ready for some crowds. That’s when the Wine and Dine Half Marathon Weekend will take place! ©Disney Disney hosts several races weekends throughout the year and from October 31st to November 3rd, runners will flock to Disney World to complete races. There are two things you should know: The first is that we typically see crowd levels increase during this time in the parks so prepare for longer wait times and potentially higher prices for Lightning Lane Multi Pass and Lightning Lane Single Pass. runDisney Finish Line in 2022 The second is that sometimes these races can cause temporary road closures, so drivers may have to take a different route than they originally thought. Disney dropped A LOT of news on us! There is a lot happening in Disney World, and we have some updates for you. Magic Kingdom From closure dates for some attractions in Disney’s Animal Kingdom to the opening date for Jingle Cruise in Magic Kingdom, we are rounding up ALL the announcements Disney made on October 14th, 2024, so you are up to date with the latest Disney World news. First off, Disney announced dates for the first DinoLand U.S.A. closures at Disney’s Animal Kingdom. These closures will mark the beginning of construction for the new Tropical Americas themed land coming to Animal Kingdom, Pueblo Esperanza. Disney announced that the last day for TriceraTop Spin, Fossil Fun Games, and Chester & Hester’s Dinosaur Treasures will be January 12th, 2025. TriceraTop Spin Construction walls will go up around these areas on January 13th. For now, DINOSAUR, the Boneyard, Restaurantosaurus, Dino-Bite Snacks, and Trilo-Bites will stay open, but these attractions will eventually be closing to make way for Pueblo Esperanza. Dinosaur Additionally, Disney announced a YEARLONG closure of Big Thunder Mountain Railroad in Magic Kingdom. Not only is Magic Kingdom getting a Villains Land and new Cars attractions, but Big Thunder Mountain Railroad will be undergoing refurbishment. Big Thunder Mountain Railroad Big Thunder Mountain Railroad will close for refurbishment on January 6th, 2025, and won’t re-open until 2026! It is time to mentally prepare ourselves for a very extended closure. However, Disney did also note that the ride will be opening “with a little bit of new magic.” Big Thunder Mountain Railroad As well, the reimagined The Little Mermaid show in Disney’s Hollywood Studios has been delayed. “The Little Mermaid – A Musical Adventure” is a reimagining of the stage show “Voyage of the Little Mermaid,” which hasn’t opened since the parks closed due to the pandemic. Voyage of the Little Mermaid The reimagined show was supposed to debut in the fall of 2024. However, it looks like we will have to wait a bit longer now. The opening date has now been pushed back to summer 2025. We will just have to wait a bit longer to go under the sea with Ariel again! ©Disney The Jungle Cruise in Magic Kingdom is currently undergoing refurbishment but will reopen to guests on October 16th, 2024. Shortly after its reopening, it will be revamped with its annual holiday ride overlay! The Jingle Cruise In addition to special outfits, holiday boat names, and punny holiday jokes, the ride will also temporarily be named Jingle Cruise! We are less than a month away from some good ol’ holiday shenanigans on the Jingle Cruise. It may sound wild to say that there are some days when it may not be worth it to purchase a full-day Disney World parks ticket, but when you sit and think about it for a moment, there are plenty of instances where a full-day ticket isn’t needed. Magic Kingdom For example, if you’re flying in that morning and won’t be in the parks until 1PM, you’re flying/driving out that afternoon and won’t be in the parks past 1PM, or you just prefer to arrive at the park halfway through the day and stay as late as you can. Right now, there’s no way to purchase a half-day ticket, so you’ll need to pay for a whole day even if you’re not using it (unless you’d like to head to a water park or Disney Springs instead). But did you know there USED to be a half-day ticket option that we, along with many Disney fans, deeply miss? Back in 2019, there was an offering called Mid-Day Magic Tickets that allowed guests access into the parks after 12PM. They could be used at any time in any of the four parks, as park pass reservations didn’t exist yet, and was available from mid-August through right around the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic. Since then, we haven’t seen them return. Expedition Everest We asked our readers on Facebook what they thought about these tickets, and many of them said while they didn’t use them themselves because they weren’t traveling to Disney at that time, they would absolutely love to have the option now. Many readers shared that they’re locals who would take advantage of them, or are a family who hates getting up early, so they often don’t get into the parks until later anyway. Others told us they used them a lot and DO miss them! Hollywood Studios Not to mention that these tickets came at quite the discount. At the time of their debut (August 2019), they cost: Two-day ticket from $88 a day, plus tax (from $176 total, plus tax) Three-day ticket from $84 a day, plus tax (from $252 total, plus tax) Four-day ticket from $79 a day, plus tax (from $316 total, plus tax) Millennium Falcon So will Disney World ever bring these back? Well, we don’t know for sure! However, if you’re visiting Disney World as part of a convention (and there are many that happen throughout the year), these conventions often have special ticket deals that allow their participants to get into the park halfway through the day, usually around 1PM. Magic Kingdom We hope to see Disney bring back these half-day tickets soon, since there are so many uses for them, and we’ll keep you updated, so stay tuned to DFB! We’re just a few weeks away from the return of the iconic Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, which means that the holiday season is just around the corner! This year’s Parade will feature a brand-new Disney Cruise Line float, “Magic Meets the Seas,” along with a new, specially choregraphed performance starring beloved characters from Disney Animation, Pixar, and more. This year’s float design features the bows of eight Disney Cruise Line ships, with the focal point being the highly anticipated Disney Treasure which will sail on its Maiden Voyage in December! The float celebrates the growing Disney Cruise Fleet, including the five ships currently sailing and the three set to debut this year and next – Disney Treasure, Disney Destiny, and Disney Adventure. It also showcases the unprecedented growth of Disney Cruise Line, which recently announced that the fleet will expand to 13 ships by 2031! Leading the way atop the float will be Captain Mickey Mouse and Captain Minnie Mouse. The famous duo will be joined by a number of special guests who represent the stories and experiences that will be brought to life onboard the Disney Treasure, including Aladdin, Princess Jasmine, Miguel, and Moana. Known for the Broadway style shows on board its ships, it’s only fitting for Disney Cruise Line to bring a taste of its magical entertainment to the streets of New York. Spectators at the Parade and those tuning in at home will be treated to a toe-tapping number starring Mickey, Minnie and their pals from Pixar Animation Studios’ “Coco,” Walt Disney Animation Studios’ “Beauty and the Beast” and more. The melody of memories from favorite Disney films will build to a confetti-filled finale set to the magnetic new Disney Treasure anthem, “Live the Adventure.” Be sure to snuggle up with your family on Thanksgiving morning and tune in to spot Disney Cruise Line’s “Magic Meets the Seas”! So, your plane just landed at the Orlando International Airport (MCO) and you’re beyond excited to get to Disney World. Quick question: How are you getting there? Orlando International Airport You’ve definitely got your transport options like taxis, Uber/Lyft, or even renting a car. But you’ve got another option to consider, granted it hasn’t been getting the greatest reviews, but we didn’t let that stop us from using it to get to Disney World from the airport. So, now let’s talk about it! So what’s this other transport that will bring us from the Orlando International Airport to Disney World? Glad you asked! Let’s talk about Mears Connect. Mears Connect Bus It’s a shuttle service that takes you from Orlando International Airport to Disney World (and back). Now I know that this service hasn’t exactly been getting rave reviews online. But here’s the twist: We used Mears Connect on our recent Disney World trip and had a pretty awesome experience. So, despite what you might hear or read, we’re here to share why it worked out great for us! Mears Connect bus First Impressions Matter From the get-go, we were pleasantly surprised. The buses were clean, modern, and that A/C was glorious, which is a huge plus after stepping out of the airport into lovely, humid Florida. If you’ve ever experienced the Orlando heat and humidity, you know what we’re talking about. But stepping onto a cool, comfy bus was just what we needed to get into vacation mode. There was a bathroom on board. Now get this: The first bus we rode even had a bathroom on board! That’s not something you’d typically expect from an airport shuttle, but we were grateful for it after a long flight. Disney Trivia The bus was also equipped with TVs that played cute little shorts and Disney/Orlando trivia, which immediately set the magical Disney mood. Punctuality Mears Connect impressed us with its punctuality. We didn’t have to wait around forever at the airport, which was one of the complaints we saw in reviews. In fact, our bus arrived right on time, and we were off to Disney World in no time. Mears Connect bus Plus, we didn’t make a bunch of random stops, which was another win in our book. We had heard stories about buses making endless stops at every hotel, but we were pleasantly surprised by how efficient the route was. Before we knew it, we were pulling up to our Disney World resort, ready to start the magic! The Early Airport Pickup Conundrum Okay, even though we loved the service overall, there was one thing that wasn’t ideal — the super early pick-up for the return trip. Mears Connect picked us up for our flight way earlier than what we expected. We ended up being at the airport about two hours too early. Mears Connect bus I get it. They need to make sure everyone makes their flight with plenty of time to spare, especially when dealing with unpredictable Orlando traffic. But, sitting at the airport with nothing to do for that long wasn’t exactly the most fun. Who knows? Maybe we could’ve squeezed in an extra ride or maybe grabbed one last snack at the parks. Instead, we spent our extra time just hanging out at the gate. Mears Connect That being said, if you’re someone who likes to have everything set up in advance and would rather be too early than stressing about making your flight on time, this might not be a deal-breaker for you. It’s just something to keep in mind. Was It Worth the Money? For us, honestly yes. Despite the early pick-up on our return trip, the overall experience was pretty stress-free, comfortable, and worth the money we spent. We didn’t have to worry about dragging our bags to an Uber or navigating rental cars. It was simple and easy, which is exactly what you want on a Disney World vacation.
