In 1954, Fess Parker donned a coonskin cap to play the historical character Davy Crockett for a three-part Walt Disney television show: “Davy Crockett Indian Fighter,†“Davy Crockett Goes to Congress†and “Davy Crockett at the Alamo.†As a result, Fess became an instant celebrity. And when Disneyland opened on July 17, 1955, his appearance on horseback in character as Davy Crockett, was a huge crowd pleaser. View the full article

A holiday tradition in my family was finding loose change, nuts and fruits like oranges and apples in the bottom of stockings. These items would usually accompany other small gifts both wrapped and unwrapped. If you haven’t visited Osborne Family Spectacle of Dancing Lights at Disney’s Hollywood Studios this year, we shared the next best thing to being there - beautiful new video from the park. On January 6, 2014, Finding Nemo Submarine Voyage will close for an extended refurbishment, to reopen in late 2014. During this time, the 5 million gallons of water in the lagoon will be drained, allowing our teams to perform the refurbishment. The 5 million gallons of water from the lagoon will be treated by the Orange County Sanitation District before going into the local groundwater aquifer. View the full article

Yes, restaurants book up quickly for New Year’s Eve, but we discovered when we dined at Monsieur Paul this week that there still are a few reservations available for noon, 12:30, 2:30 and 3 p.m. on New Year’s Eve – the perfect time to leisurely dine, then stroll the World Showcase Promenade all evening. A few weeks ago I shared details about the new Marketplace Co Op location coming to Downtown Disney Marketplace in spring 2014 (http://disneyparks.disney.go.com/blog/2013/11/marketplace-co-op-coming-to-downtown-disney-marketplace-in-early-2014/). This location will occupy the space that is currently Team Mickey, and will feature six different mini-shops within the one big shop. One of those shops will be D-Tech on Demand, a place to personalize and customize your own electronic accessories. I’m happy to share that Guests visiting Downtown Disney West Side during the holidays can get a sneak preview of D-Tech on Demand in action at the Disney Truck Shop.
