We have more Frozen food news for you out of Disney’s Hollywood Studios! (Frozen food! Get it? Ha!) Last week, we told you about the Frozen Summer Fun Package — complete with Dessert Party! Today, we’re back with our very first look at some of the Frozen-themed treats that you can find throughout the Park! The Studios bunch continues to delight guests with all kinds of ways to celebrate the epic success of the Disney animated film Frozen this summer. Perfect, right? Who doesn’t love a cool breeze on a HOT Florida day? And in addition to super cool attractions like ice skating, guests can also snack and drink their way through Arendelle! Let’s start with a few refreshing drinks! The one that we’re most excited about is the “Let It Glow”! This non-alcoholic cocktail will be perfect for the whole family! A refreshing concoction of Pineapple Juice, Grenadine, and Ginger Ale — it comes with a fun souvenir Glow Cube. I can’t wait to try this one! “Let It Glow” Non-Alcoholic Cocktail For grownups, there are two fruity options that come with an extra kick — the Summer Berry Margarita and the Blue Dream. While the Margarita features the fruits of summer, the Blue Dream is a magical mix of Citrus Vodka, Blue Curacao, Peach Schnapps, Sweet-and-Sour Mix, and Pineapple Juice. And since both of the adult beverages come with a Glow Cube as well, everybody’s happy! Summer Berry Margarita and Blue Dream at Disney’s Hollywood Studios You’ll find all three daily from 4-10 p.m. at Animation Bar and Idol Bar. But WAIT until you see the snacks!!! They clearly have my number with this one. Over at  Hollywood Scoops, you can score a Blue Sugar Cookie Ice Cream Sandwich — made with your choice of ice cream. Frozen Sugar Cookie Hand Made Ice Cream Sandwich And we can’t forget the Cupcakes! You’ll find this adorable Olaf Cupcake at all the regular spots — Studios Catering Co., Pizza Planet, ABC Commissary, Rosie’s All American Cafe, and Fairfax Fare, Starring Rolls Cafe and the Coffee Cart. You can also snag them at Oaken’s Trading Post & Frozen Funland. And of course — he’s made of Carrot Cake with Cream Cheese Icing. A few weeks ago, we told you about a new experience coming to Disneyland park, in which guests will not only watch the story unfold, they will be able to create the story themselves. “Legends of Frontierland: Gold Rush!” begins unfolding today! Here’s what you need to know to jump right into the story on your next visit. Create Your Character: You can be whoever you want to be in the Wild West of Frontierland. You can be a peacekeeper, an outlaw, a miner … it’s all up to you! You will even be able to create a new name for your character. Whenever you enter Frontierland, that’s who you will be! Choose a Side: Rumors of gold have led to a struggle for land. Which side will you take … joining the peaceful Frontierland citizens or the opportunistic Rainbow Ridge townsfolk? Learn the Lay of the Land: There are new Frontierland locations in play now with “Legends of Frontierland: Gold Rush!†and each serves a unique purpose in the story. Trading Post – This is the meeting place and first stop for new Frontierland citizens. This is also where citizens can keep up with the latest Frontierland news and swap plans for fending off those Rainbow Ridge ruffians. Hideout – Like the Trading Post, the Hideout is the first stop and central meeting place for citizens of Rainbow Ridge.Telegraph Station – The information hub of Frontierland, this is the place to send and receive important messages.Sheriff’s Office and Jail – This is where outlaws are brought to justice and where lawmakers work to keep the peace.Talent Agency – Based in the Golden Horseshoe, this is where new talent is discovered and showcased in Frontierland. Card Table – Also located in the Golden Horseshoe, this ongoing card game plays host to outlaws and heroes alike. Be careful what you say here! You never know who may be listening.Get to Know Your Fellow Citizens: You can find your fellow citizens throughout Frontierland. Just look for your town’s color to find out what’s new in town. Earn “Bitsâ€: “Bits†are the currency of the Western Territories. You can earn “bits†by participating in tasks throughout the land and spend them on land purchases, to get information and for other worthy causes. It’s time to choose your alliance in the fight for Frontierland! We’ll have more details as they develop here on the Disney Parks Blog. And be sure to support your townsfolk with the hashtags #MyFrontierland and #MyRainbowRidge! ‘Legends of Frontierland: Gold Rush!’ Begins Today at Disneyland Park by Erin Glover: Originally posted on the Disney Parks Blog View the full article

We’ve talked a lot lately about the new “Frozen†offerings that are taking place over at Disney’s Hollywood Studios this summer, such as the amazing new fireworks show, the daily singalongs and the royal procession. Another offering we want to make sure you don’t miss is the opportunity to learn how to draw some of your favorite friends from “Frozen†over at the Animation Academy at The Magic of Disney Animation. Character artist Brian James Fichtner previously gave us a tutorial on how to draw Olaf, which you can view here and a tutorial on how to draw Elsa, here. This time, he’s back to share how to draw one of the film’s more artistically complex characters – Anna. Grab a pencil, paper and check out the full tutorial below! It’s no secret that a highlight of visiting Disney’s Animal Kingdom is the opportunity to see plenty of beautiful animals! Over the years, a commonly shared “tip†has been to get to the park early because animals are more likely to be seen in the morning. Our Science Operations Team set out to test that tip by recording animal visibility throughout the day. Hypothesis (Myth): Animals are more likely to be seen in the morning. The researchers separated the park into five areas to include Kilimanjaro Safaris Ride, Discovery Island/Tree of Life, Oasis Gardens, Pangani Forest Trail, and Maharajah’s Jungle Trek. In these areas, they collect visibility data at several different times of the day on almost all of the animals including Giant Anteater, White Stork, Giraffe, Ostrich, Tiger, Elephant and Gorilla. The research team has been monitoring animal visibility in this fashion since the park opened in 1998 and they now have an amazing archive of information on how the animal viewing experience in the park has changed over the years. For this analysis, the team’s observational data were recorded and used to calculate an “average visibility†for each species at each time of day. These statistics were then compared to determine if there was in fact an increased chance of animal visibility at a certain time during the day. Analyses of data from the past several years all reveal the same finding… Conclusion (and myth busted): Time of day does not significantly change the probability of spotting animals. Translation — You can sleep in and still have a great, animal-filled day! **On your next visit to Disney’s Animal Kingdom, be sure to pick up an Animal Guide to help you discover the animals in each area of the Park. You can even become a Wilderness Explorer by completing challenges and earning adventure badges throughout your day! Ah, the hottest days of summer are upon us! And I can think of no better way to cool down than with a frosty ice cream treat! And don’t you love all the forms of yummo snacks that ice cream can take? Its natural diversity makes it a perfect candidate for one of our favorite pastimes… Introducing, The Disney Food Blog Disneyland Ice Cream Crawl! Now, we realize, this is a LOT of ice cream. So feel free to break up your crawl over a period of a few days. Or, you know, eat ice cream for breakfast, lunch, and dinner (and snacks). We won’t judge. So without delay, let’s hit it! Chocolate Chip Cookie Hot Fudge Sundae at Gibson Girl Ice Cream ParlorWe are going to start our Epic Ice Cream Day with a stop into Gibson Girl Ice Cream. The vintage vibe is alive and well in this recently-renovated Main Street USA staple. I love all of the old fashioned ice cream shop options you have here. The Waffle Cones, made right there in the shop, are deeeelish! Waffle Cones at Gibson Girl And who wouldn’t love an Ice Cream Soda served in a real (souvenir) glass? Old Fashioned Ice Cream Parlor Glass But my favorite treat at Gibson Girl is the Chocolate Chip Cookie Hot Fudge Sundae. It has everything — Cookies, Hot Fudge, Whipped Cream — and of course, Ice Cream! Cookie Sundae With my love of Handmade Cookie Ice Cream Sandwiches, this was made for me! Really. It ought to be called “The AJ”. Mickey Premium Ice Cream BarAfter your breakfast sundae and a trip or two down the Matterhorn, you’ll be ready for a snack — and I have just the thing. We couldn’t go too far in our odyssey without having that most iconic Disney ice cream treat a — Mickey Premium Ice Cream Bar. It’s a match made in heaven — rich ice cream coupled with some of the best chocolate around! The choices are dizzying here…it’s practically impossible to make a decision! Butterscotch Sundae at Ghirardelli It’s sweet and salty classic goodness. Clarabelle’s Hand-Dipped Ice Cream BarNext, we’ll head to Clarabelle’s for one of our favorite Disneyland unique treats. We’ve already had our Mickey Ice Cream Bar, so now it’s time for something a little different. How about we try our hand at making our own with the super-personalized Hand-Dipped Ice Cream Bar at Clarabelle’s! Okay, so you don’t actually get to dip it yourself. BUT — you tell them what to dip (Vanilla, Chocolate, or Mixed Berry Sorbet), what to dip it in (Milk or Dark Chocolate), and what you’d like to sprinkle on top (Chocolate Chip Morsels, Confetti Mickeys, Blue Raspberry Bursts (like Pop Rocks!), or Rainbow Sprinkles). If you can’t decide, go for “The Whole Herd†— all of the above! Hand Dipped Ice Cream Bar — You Create It! What would you pick? Today, Sorbet, Milk Chocolate, and Confetti Mickeys are speaking to me! Apparently, the rain never bothered them, anyway! When popular Downtown Disney entertainers were forced to cancel a few sets recently due to inclement weather, the talented artists used the time to work on a (very!) popular tune – “Let It Go†from Disney’s “Frozen.†Though none of them had worked on the material before, and in spite of rarely having the chance to perform together, I think you’ll agree that the end result was spectacular. This video, captured by Entertainment Manager Jonathan Lang, was shot behind-the-scenes in the Downtown Disney green room; though it was never intended to be viewed by guests, I couldn’t resist sharing it with all of you. I love that Drey-C, Bryan Malpass, Karlton Tillman, Mitch Corbin, Nicholas Marks and Don Black used their rainy-day break to make a little backstage magic for themselves (and now, for all of us!). To see more from this talented group, be sure to visit Downtown Disney. With nine acts scheduled nightly and over 30 performances taking place each day, there’s always new entertainment to experience. I know. I know … talking about the holidays in July is a little early, but I love the holidays at Walt Disney World Resort. And one of my favorite events of the entire year is the Candlelight Processional at Epcot. Today, guests can start booking their Candlelight Processional Dining Packages. This is great for you early planners since the event starts the night after Thanksgiving (November 28) and runs through December 30. We also have a partial list of celebrity narrators including Candlelight veterans Whoopi Goldberg and Jodi Benson, and two fabulous new narrators – Academy-Award-winning actress Sharon Stone and Saturday Night Live alum Ana Gasteyer. For those of you unfamiliar with the event, it’s a gorgeous re-telling of the Christmas story with a celebrity narrator each night and seasonal music from a massed choir and huge orchestra. The event started at Disneyland park in the 1958 with Walt Disney himself. At Walt Disney World Resort, it’s presented at the America Gardens Theater at Epcot, a beautiful venue, especially when all decked out for the holidays. I’ve had the honor of being in the cast choir – you know the folks in the green Christmas tree robes – for six years. I thought it was a magical experience watching this program. Little did I know that being on stage, a part of it, would be even more. I’ve had a chance to sing along side actors like Neil Patrick Harris and Gary Sinise, and gospel legends like Amy Grant and Steven Curtis Chapman, who is back again this year. Here is a partial list of celebrity narrators: Jodi Benson – 11/28 – 11/29TBD – 11/30 – 12/2TBD – 12/3 – 12/4Whoopi Goldberg – 12/5 – 12/6TBD – 12/7* – 12/8TBD – 12/9 – 12/11TBD – 12/12 – 12/14Sharon Stone (New) – 12/15 – 12/17Ana Gasteyer (New) – 12/18 – 12/20Marlee Matlin – 12/21 – 12/23TBD – 12/24 – 12/25TBD – 12/26 – 12/27Steven Curtis Chapman – 12/28 – 12/30Narrators are subject to change without notice. – Show Times are at 5 p.m., 6:45 p.m. & 8:15 p.m. each night. *Show Times on December 7 are 6:45 p.m. & 8:15 p.m. only Candlelight Processional Dining Packages, available on select days, start at $35 for lunch and $50 for dinner for adults, include a delicious meal at an Epcot restaurant and a guaranteed seat for one of the Candlelight Processional performances. Start with the adorable Olaf, Elsa and Anna cupcakes ($5.19) – almost too cute to eat, but they’re delicious too. Olaf’s is carrot cake (of course) with cream cheese icing and a white chocolate Olaf. You’ll find the cupcakes at Studios Catering Co., Pizza Planet, ABC Commissary, Rosie’s All American Cafe, Fairfax Fare (Anna and Elsa are there only on July 5), Oaken’s Trading Post & Frozen Funland, Starring Rolls Cafe and the coffee cart. If you prefer a keepable souvenir, the cute Olaf sipper cup comes filled with all sorts of icy concoctions, from a blue raspberry milkshake at Min & Bills’ Dockside Diner ($9.29) to strawberry lemonade at Backlot Express ($9.49) or frozen blue raspberry slush or strawberry lemonade slush at Oaken’s Frozen Funland ($10.25). Being that it’s July – the month we celebrate America’s independence – it’s not surprising to find a little extra red, white, and blue around Disney World these days. Fife and Drum Corps at the American Adventure Pavilion Fourth of July decorations at the American Adventure Pavilion Red, White, and Blue flowers at the American Adventure Pavilion All-American Mickey! Of course, Americans aren’t the only ones who claim these colors in their flag. Among others, our friends in France do, too! French flags Still, you don’t really expect to see these colors incorporated together in your food, which is why I was so surprised to spot the new Vanilla Macaron Ice Cream Sandwich at L’Artisan des Glaces in Epcot’s France Pavilion, sporting the colors of the French flag! Vanilla Macaron Ice Cream Sandwich sign Vanilla Macaron Ice Cream Sandwiches in case I have to applaud the creativity of the chefs who came up with this treat. Check out the incredibly vivid red and blue making up each side of the macaron! Vanilla Macaron Ice Cream Sandwich red side up Vanilla Macaron Ice Cream Sandwich blue side up Of course, those colors may make you question the flavor of the macaron surrounding the ice cream – it’s vanilla. Essentially, this is the vanilla version of this treat’s counterpart, the Chocolate Macaron Ice Cream Sandwich. In fact, the vanilla version comes to you in that same French “newspaper†wrapping. Vanilla Macaron Ice Cream Sandwich in French “newspaper” If you’ve enjoyed the housemade ice cream at L’Artisan des Glaces, then you know how very creamy, dense, and decadent it is, and this is certainly true of the rich vanilla ice cream in the center of this sandwich. Vanilla ice cream in center The vanilla macaron surrounding the ice cream differs from the one surrounding the chocolate version in that it is a fair bit crunchier than the soft, melt-in-your-mouth texture that I associate with a macaron. While I prefer more traditional texture of the chocolate, the bonus of the difference is that the vanilla sandwich stays together pretty well throughout eating. Texture of the macaron All in all, it’s another fun and tasty treat from L’Artisans des Glaces! Did you know that the Seven Dwarfs Mine Train attraction is inspiring a new television show that premieres on Disney XD today? Welcome guest author Audrey B. with a review from Tokyo Disneyland! When I recently had the opportunity to spend the day at the Tokyo Disney Resort, I was ecstatic but a bit apprehensive about the food situation. Tokyo DisneylandAlthough I had originally planned to spend the entire day at the DisneySea park, thanks to meticulous tour planning and FastPass I was able to enjoy all of the attractions by 2pm. I could not resist jumping on the monorail and heading over to Disneyland Park, and here’s where you’ll find one of the most popular food items in Tokyo Disney! Souvenir Popcorn BucketsOne thing you will notice if you ever make it to this park is that nearly everyone carries a souvenir popcorn bucket! Popcorn in Tokyo Disneyland! The popcorn is quite a big deal and a popular snack in Tokyo Disneyland. Carts can be found throughout the park, each offering unique flavors such as Black Pepper, Sea Salt, Curry, Milk Tea, Cranberry, and Soy Sauce & Butter. After riding Pooh’s Hunny Hunt (arguably the most advanced, whimsical, and unique dark ride ever in the entire world!), I followed my tummy for a little smackerel of Honey Popcorn! It was undoubtedly my favorite out of everything I ate on the trip! Tokyo DisneySeaBecause I spent most of my time at DisneySea, a remarkably beautiful and unique counterpart to Disneyland, we’ve got a lot to talk about here. Maple BallsIn the Agrabah Marketplace, I found a stand called Sultan’s Oasis, which served juice, ice cream, and something called Maple Balls, which I had to try! Maple Balls. Not quite like doughnuts, but not quite like cake, either, these scrumptious little nuggets had a slightly chewy texture, complimented with the crunch of the walnut topping. New York DeliFor my full meal, I headed over to New York Deli! I’ve spent lots of time in Japan, and while the warmth of the people always makes it an enjoyable experience, the cuisine is quite exotic. And most Japanese I’ve encountered find my vegetarianism perplexing, to put it mildly. The New York Deli offers several salads and sandwiches, but no vegetarian choices. I tried my luck requesting that a Reuben be made without the beef. There was a bit of a language barrier, but the young man was very patient and helpful. New York Deli Vegetarian Meal. While not exactly what I’m used to getting in the States, it was very tasty. The Thousand Island dressing looked the same as you’d expect, but there were definitely some unrecognizable flavors in there. The fries and Coke were exactly the same as you’d expect to get in the U.S. One note if you do find yourself here: near the dining area, usually near a condiments station, you will find a sink where you can (and should) wash your hands before you eat, as is customary in Japan. Ice CreamHad I not indulged in the Maple Balls, I might have been tempted to try one of these treats available in the nearby Mysterious Island section of the park! Ice Cream at DisneySea! ChurrosI had read that the Tokyo Disney Resort offers varieties of Churro that are unavailable elsewhere. Apparently the selections (such as maple, honey lemon, and sesame) change periodically, and they are very popular among the guests. While I was there, the only available churro was Strawberry Milk with a chocolate dipping sauce. Initially I thought I would give it a try, but each time I came upon a Churro stand, I was confronted with a line like this! Queue for Churros. The line continues all the way around and behind those trees! Note to self: get in line for churros early! Menus and Plastic FoodIf, like me, you feel apprehensive about the food situation, rest assured that the attentive staff will take care of you. You might also be comforted to know that, as is customary in Japan, each menu is posted out front (including English translations) along with plastic molds of exactly how each dish will appear, as seen here at Sebastian’s Calypso Kitchen in the Mermaid Lagoon section of DisneySea. Menu choices translated in English. Plastic food representing menu items! OverallIf you are planning a trip to the Tokyo Disney Resort, you are in for a rare treat. Not only are there unique and wonderful Disney experiences to be had, but the incredible warmth and spirit of the Japanese visitors will live in your heart and memory forever. I will never, ever forget seeing the gleeful faces and squeals of joy as the gates first opened in the morning, or hearing grown men belt out along with “Paint with All the Colors of the Wind.†The Magic of Disney knows no language or cultural barriers! Have you visited one or both of the Toyko parks? Let us know your thoughts on the food selections. And if we’re ever lucky enough to get there, what MUST we try? Chime in now!
