  2. In a park that pays tribute to many Hollywood icons of the silver screen, a silver anniversary is a special one to celebrate. On May 1, 1989, Disney’s Hollywood Studios (known then as Disney-MGM Studios — a name that would identify the park until it was changed in 2008) became the third Disney theme park to open at Walt Disney World Resort. On May 1, 2014, the park will mark the 25th anniversary in several ways (*times and entertainment subject to change): View the full article
  3. I have a confession: I am a souvenir pack rat. From guide maps to old receipts, I have a habit of holding onto tidbits from my Disney Parks visits. Sadly, these once-sentimental keepsakes now live inside a shoebox in my closet. Then it hit me: I needed to think outside the shoebox! Today, I’m here [...] View the full article
  4. During Star Wars Weekends, fans will be immersed in a galaxy far, far away. And now, a special Feel the Force Dining Event gives you VIP status for viewing for the Star Wars “Legends of the Force” motorcade plus a nightly dessert party (featuring the event’s popular Darth Vader cupcakes) and up-close viewing of the “Symphony in the Stars” fireworks spectacular. 5. It's silver-anniversary time for Disney's Hollywood Studios. The theme park was born as Disney-MGM Studios on May 1, 1989, back when George Bush (the first one) was president, Americans learned to pronounce Exxon Valdez, and Eastern Air Lines was still flying. View the full article

  7. Get ready for some menu changes at crowd-pleasing Carnation Café on Main Street, U.S.A., in Disneyland park. Importantly, an old favorite is returning -- eggs Benedict on an English muffin with grilled Canadian bacon, poached eggs and Hollandaise with a side of the café’s breakfast potatoes – now that’s how we do breakfast at the Disneyland Resort. 11. Here’s a little trivia: did you know former “Cheers” star and the Disney•Pixar “lucky charm” John Ratzenberger once appeared on the silver screen in the Star Wars saga? Before he frequented the watering hole where everybody knew his name, he braved the frigid planet Hoth in a minor role in Star Wars: Episode V The Empire Strikes Back. Next stop for Ratzenberger (or, as he may be known to Star Wars fans: Major Bren Derlin) will be Disney’s Hollywood Studios for Star Wars Weekends 2014. View the full article
  12. I’m on the official countdown to May! If you’re wondering why, wonder no more. I just found out that the next gourmet apple set to debut at the Disneyland Resort has been covered in peanut butter and chocolate. I’m pretty sure life as I know it is complete. See for yourself! 14. This week’s “Caption This” photo is a shot of Donald Duck and Goofy that was snapped during our 100 Years of Magic Celebration several years ago. It sure looks like they are the best of friends, doesn’t it? View the full article
  15. Guests visiting Disney’s Animal Kingdom may get a special treat during a visit to the Oasis. Our Tammar wallaby is carrying a baby (called a “joey”) in her pouch, and the joey (the team doesn’t know yet whether it’s a girl or a boy) often pops its head out to take a look around. The new baby, mom Adelaide and dad Tucker, share their habitat in the Oasis with Australian wood ducks. View the full article
