In 2025, we’re seeing a LOT of changes to Disney World. New shows, new lounges, and saying goodbye to some of our favorite things as well. Disney’s Hollywood Studios Disney’s Hollywood Studios is right there in the mix of the change as this summer two shows will be opening, Villains: Unfairly Ever After and The Little Mermaid – A Musical Adventure. We are also seeing the closure of Muppet’s Courtyard as we make way for the new Monsters Inc area that is coming. But, there’s a change that will happen in the upcoming months that will impact Fantasmic! Specifically, we will see changes to the the Fantasmic! Dining Package. This offers a meal at a participating restaurant in Disney’s Hollywood Studios AND reserved seating for a showing of the popular Fantasmic! Nighttime Spectacular. Guest’s choice of 50s Prime Time Cafe, Sci-Fi Dine In Theater Restaurant, Mama Melrose’s Ristorante Italiano, Hollywood & Vine, and The Hollywood Brown Derby Fantasmic! However, the last day you’ll be able to dine at Mama Melrose’s will be on May 10th. This is because the Monster’s Inc. area will begin construction. With one less restaurant to go to for the dining package, it will become even more difficult to grab this reservation. Mama Melrose’s Ristorante Italiano 60 days in advance of your Disney World vacation, you can make dining reservations and this is where you can reserve the Fantasmic! Dining Package as well. It is labeled separately from a dining reservation at one of the participating restaurants. In addition to dinner, you will get reserved seating for the show so that you don’t have to wait in a long line to grab a seat. It’s kind of a win-win, especially if you were going to dine at one of these locations anyway. Sci-Fi Dine-In Theatre Restaurant When Monsters Inc area does open in the years to come, it appears HarryHausen’s, a restaurant featured in the film, will take over the area of Mama Melrose’s. Could this restaurant become part of the Fantasmic! Dining Package? Possibly, although it hasn’t been confirmed by Disney that this will be an actual restaurant. We’re really hoping it will be though! Close-Up Look at the New Restaurants Coming to Disney World’s Monsters, Inc. Excuse us, Disney, but how dare you make all kinds of big Parks announcements over the weekend? Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge Our minds are BLOWN by everything Disney recently revealed at its panel at the SXSW conference this year. Sure, we knew about some of the big expansions coming to the parks, but Disney has given us first looks at attractions, timelines of things coming to the parks, and more. Well, Disney confirmed something ELSE at SXSW (yep, the news just keeps on coming). A brand new Star Wars animatronic will be arriving in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge in Disney World and Disneyland. During the SXSW panel, The Mandalorian creator Jon Favreau, took to the stage with Disney Imagineers to talk about some what Imagineers have been working on for the parks. One of those pieces of tech includes a brand new animatronic Anzellan. Now, the first Anzellan was Babu Frik, who first appeared in Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker. This guy is of the same species and like Babu Frik, he specializes in droid repair. Here’s what the new animatronic looks like. ©SXSW This spicy little fellow has also been in The Mandalorian TV show and will also appear in The Mandalorian and Grogu movie. However, you can soon see this little guy up close because he’s also going to be putting in appearances at Disney Parks, along with the cute little BDX droids we can’t stop being obsessed with. ©SXSW So you’ll want to keep an eye out for this new animatronic. Disney has not yet revealed when he will turn up, but we’ll keep an eye out for an announcement, so stay tuned to DFB for more. One of our favorite things about Disney is the free transportation from Disney Resorts to the theme parks. We use them all the time! Disney Bus Because we use them all the time, we have to deal with many bus “icks”, and this one drives us crazy! Beware of this issue when using bus transportation! You might find many people don’t form lines when getting onto the bus! Traditionally, the bus drivers will load those with mobility devices into the bus first from the middle door and then have everyone else enter through the door in the front. All aboard! If you’ve ever waited for the bus at the resort, there are a few benches but a big open space, versus the bus stations at resorts, which have stanchions for guests to line up in. We love it when there’s a queue, so the first to arrive get on the bus the soonest, securing those desired seats. Queue at a park! Entering from the resorts, typically a line doesn’t form, so it’s a bit chaotic when entering! Just like the “gate lice” that crowd an airport gate long before their boarding group is called, we have experienced “bus lice” who crowd around the doors of Disney buses before it’s time to get on board. You might have been the first to the stop, so you decide to wait on the bench, and when your bus comes, everyone runs in front. Inside a Disney Bus So, if you’re heading onto the bus, try to let those who have obviously been waiting a while on first, but also take a step back and try to get a line to form. It helps everyone load more quickly and comfortably. Also, be aware that you might not board in the order that you came. Stay patient! Disney is great with its transportation and tries to fit as many people as it can. Stay up to date with everything Disney by continuing to follow Disney Food Blog! Heading to a resort? Over the past year, Disney has been dropping big announcements left and right, especially when it comes to Disney World and Disneyland. ©The Walt Disney Company We learned that a Cars expansion with two new rides is coming to Magic Kingdom, along with a new Villains land. We learned more about Pueblo Esperanza, the land that will be taking over DinoLand, U.S.A. in Disney’s Animal Kingdom. We also learned that the Muppets are moving over to Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster to make way for a Monsters, Inc. land, which will be taking over Muppets Coutryard in Disney’s Hollywood Studios. In Disneyland, Avengers Campus is getting two new rides. Well, this weekend, Disney just dropped more announcements about these expansions — AND MORE. This weekend, the South by Southwest (SXSW) conference kicked off, and during the conference, Disney dropped some HUGE news about Disney World and Disneyland. The annual festival, held in Austin, TX, celebrates the latest in film, music, interactive media, and more. Disney Experiences Chairman Josh D’Amaro joined Disney Entertainment Co-Chairman Alan Bergman on stage at The Future of World-Building panel to talk about some of Disney’s latest projects. Main Street, U.S.A. in Disney World Millennium Falcon: Smuggler’s Run Update First up, Millennium Falcon: Smuggler’s Run in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge in Disney World and Disneyland is getting an upgrade to celebrate the release of The Mandalorian and Grogu in theaters on Memorial Day weekend in 2026. Here’s a teaser: The ride includes a massive robot arm that will reach down and grab your pod and lift you off the track. Then you’ll make high-speed maneuvers inspired by Iron Man. WOW. NEWS: Disney Reveals INSANE New Tech For State of the Art Upcoming Ride! Fantastic Four Coming to Disneyland Disney also just casually announced that Tomorrowland in Disneyland will soon be getting some new meet-and-greets. In honor of the premiere of Fantastic Four: First Step, you’ll be able to meet the Fantastic Four: Reed Richards, Sue Storm, Johnny Storm, H.E.R.B.I.E., and Ben Grimm soon. ©Marvel Fantastic Four: First Step is coming to theaters on July 25th, 2025 — the new characters will be headed to Disneyland at about that time, too. Oh, by the way, Disney Imagineering is creating a real-life H.E.R.B.I.E. robot, too. BREAKING: Disney Announces NEW Additions Coming Soon to Tomorrowland BDX Droids You’ve seen videos of those adorable BDX droids wandering around Disneyland. Well, Disney isn’t done with them yet. In fact, those little cuties will be making their on-screen debut in The Mandalorian and Grogu. ©SXSW But that’s not it — the droids will also be coming to Disney World, Tokyo Disneyland, and Disneyland Paris later this year. You get a BDX droid, you get a BDX droid, EVERYBODY gets a BDX droid!!! NEWS: BDX Droids Are Coming to Disney World! If you’re heading to EPCOT, you’ll have a LOT of snack stands to choose from! EPCOT Each country in the World Showcase has great hidden gems to snack on and don’t even get me started on all the items you could try during an EPCOT festival. But if we are in EPCOT and are only wanting to spend $5 on a treat, there is one we will head for every time. We’re heading over to the Germany pavilion today for our sweet treat. While you might automatically think of Karamell-Kuche when you think of this part of the World Showcase and it does house a lot of our favorite snacks, we’re heading to the back of this pavilion to find a hidden gem. Sommerfest is tucked away in the back of the Germany Pavilion, next to Biergarten Restaurant. It’s a little blink-and-you-miss-it snack stand that serves a few different eats and some beverage options. But the treat we’re talking about today calls this location home. Germany Pavilion We are talking about the Pretzel Bread Pudding! This treat is a beloved item here at DFB and it’s available for just $4.79. That’s a CHEAP snack! I mean just look at this delicious treat. It’s a pretzel bread covered in a healthy dose of cream sauce. Pretzel Bread Pudding The texture is soft with a bit of chew, just like you’d expect from a perfect bread pudding. There are bits of pretzel on top, and it has kind of a sweet-and-salty flavor profile going on. The vanilla and caramel sauces are creamy and sweet, a really delicious pairing that makes this treat so much better. Look at this bite! The other hack for this is that you can mobile order it! This sweet and salty combo snack lives in our dreams so if you’re heading to EPCOT soon, you have got to try it. For more Disney snack tips, be sure to follow us at DFB. Booking your next stay at Disney’s Beach Club hotel may feel like you’ve hit the jackpot, but there are a few Disney Adults who have discovered some hacks that seriously take things to the next level. Disney’s Beach Club Resort When planning your next Disney World trip you’re probably plotting and strategizing every detail right down to where you plan to call home during your vacation. Sure, certain refurbishments and construction can sometimes get in the way, but if you can avoid them and make this beloved Disney World deluxe hotel your own for your next visit, we’re calling out a few hacks Disney Adults are starting to use that might make your visit a little more “worth it.” For some of us, one of the most important decisions we’ll make about our Disney World vacations is which of the hotels we’ll be staying in during our visit. This could be dictated by where you plan to spend the majority of your time outside of the parks, which hotel has larger rooms for bigger families, and even which has your preferred methods of transportation. Disney’s Beach Club So, landing at Disney’s Beach Club Resort as your home during your next vacation doesn’t seem like a far conclusion to draw. It’s really got a ton of perks! It’s got a great walkability score to other Disney World hotels to visit, a short walk from an entrance to EPCOT, and even an upscale beach theme with arguably one of the best pools anyone could hope to experience while on vacation. Stormalong Bay at Disney’s Beach Club In fact, it’s pretty popular option already on its own, and if you’re thinking about booking a hotel stay here, it’s one you’ll want to get to booking well in advance. Our friends over at Small World Vacations know all about how to score you the best deals on your next Disney World hotel stay so if you’ve not already booked your next trip, we’d highly recommend you consider allowing them to help you for free before you book your next stay. So what exactly have Disney Adults figured out about Disney’s Beach Club Resort that has helped them hack their way around the hotel and Disney World? Well, there’s actually a few points that have caught our interest as of late, and we’re sharing them all with you! Room 1501 Disney Adults have known about this extremely popular room option for years and have worked long and hard to keep it a best kept secret. When it comes to room placement at Disney’s Beach Club Resort, location is everything! If you’re ever assigned room 1501, then consider yourself in a secret club of Disney Adults. Beds at Beach Club This is the room that is the absolute CLOSEST to EPCOT’s entrance — you seriously just can’t get a stay any closer. This means that you don’t have to walk the entire length of the hotel just to get past its buildings and on your way to start your day. It’s also incredibly helpful at the end of the night when your feet and tired and aching and you’re counting the steps until your head hits the pillow to snooze. To get this room, you’ll need to make sure you’ve booked one of the villas at Disney’s Beach Club Resort because they’re going to the be the category of rooms where 1501 is located. Secret Door If you’ve ever spotted an incoming storm and immediately wished for an easy button, this secret door may be just the answer. We’ve been singing its praises for a while now, but it can truly be one of those saving graces if you’re trying to get out of bad weather or shorten your walk back to your room at the hotel. And it’s not all that hard to access either! There’s the door! It’s a simple, unassuming door that’s accessed by a short walkway from the main path. Its entrance is marked by a small metal gate and short walking path that leads you right up to the door. The only catch to this hack is that not just anyone can access it — you’ll have to scan your Disney World hotel key card or Magicband+ to get it to open. Scan to enter This means that only those who have a hotel reservation linked to their accounts, bands, or cards, are able to use this door (but that doesn’t make it any less cool of a perk for staying here!). Skyliner Access Disney’s Skyliner has quickly become a popular mode of transportation around Disney World and for good reason. Unless you’re hopping in line at peak hours, typically it’s a pretty short process to board and gives you a unique bird’s eye view of the hotels and parts of a few of Disney World’s parks. International Gateway Skyliner These gondolas aren’t terribly fast, but they make for a memorable way to get around Disney World, and we’ve personally enjoyed the breeze you’ll catch while resting your feet sitting inside them. Booking your next stay at Disney’s Beach Club Resort means that you’re just steps away from being able to get to either Disney’s Hollywood Studios or another nearby hotel making park hopping, and your trek to and from your room as convenient as possible. Skyliner at Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort We’re sure that Disney’s Beach Club Resort’s prime location fixed right next door to surrounding hotels within steps of each other and a short walk away from EPCOT, makes it a clear winner to help you truly take every available advantage of its location during your next Disney World vacation. We’re always talking about the best tips and tricks to help you decide which Disney World hotel is right for you during your next Disney World trip. Move over, Mickey! We’ve got big news for Disney+ fans, and there’s already a BIG Hollywood name involved in the project. Oswald Passholder Magnet But first, let’s rewind. We’ve heard a lot about the future of Disney+ recently, like when Mufasa will land on Disney+, what’s happening with the Princess and the Frog TV series, and what’s next for the Descendants series. Phew — there’s a lot going on! Oh, and now, Disney is even working on an Oswald the Lucky Rabbit series! It’s true! Deadline has just reported that Jon Favreau is working on a new TV series starring none other than Oswald the Lucky Rabbit. Recognize that name? Favreau created, wrote, and executive produced The Mandalorian, and executive produced The Book of Boba Fett, Ahsoka, and Star Wars: Skeleton Crew. ©Disney The series will be a combination of live-action and animation and will star the “saucy, self-absorbed bunny.” While the project is from Walt Disney Studios, Favreau is writing and producing it. Oswald the Lucky Rabbit Collection The history between Disney and Oswald is complicated, as he was created in 1927 by Walt Disney and was featured in 27 animated shorts, but Universal took control of the character in 1928. But, hey, losing Oswald is what led Disney to create a new character, the one we all know and love today — Mickey Mouse. Oswald the Lucky Rabbit ©Disney The Walt Disney Company acquired the trademark for Oswald in 2006, and he hit the public domain in 2023. We’re excited to see where this new series could lead, and will be sure to tell you all about it as we hear more! More Recent Disney News! FINALLY! If you’re planning your FIRST-EVER Disney World vacation — RELAX! We’re here to help! Magic Kingdom A first trip to Disney World is incredibly exciting — albeit a little scary. But don’t worry! We’re bringing you some really great tips that will help you not only survive Disney World, but thrive and have the time of your life! We’re going to go over some of our FAVORITE newcomer tips (that we personally believe ALL guests should know about BEFORE you book a trip) and believe us when we say these pieces of advice could really save your vacation. So without further ado, let’s take a look at nine newcomer tips that will help you have the best first trip to Disney World EVER! NEWCOMER TIP #1: Pick Up Our FREE Hotel Guide! Planning a Disney World vacation feels like a WHOLE lot of research on your end. That’s where we come in because we’ve already done all that research FOR you! DFB Guides Check out our blog site for all sorts of guides that cover EVERYTHING Disney World — from seasonal events to every restaurant to all the quirks you should know about before your visit! If it exists at Disney World, we’ve got you covered with our guides! View our guidebooks! NEWCOMER TIP #2: Check Into Your Room Virtually Online check-in opens up on the My Disney Experience app AND on the Disney World website 60 days before your arrival. But why should you be eager to check into your resort EARLY versus waiting and checking in once you arrive? Two reasons… ©Disney Reason 1: You can skip over waiting in line for the front desk when you get there and, instead, can just head on up to your room once it’s ready for you. Reason 2: This is when you can put in any room request you might have to improve your chances of getting a certain room type. All-Star Movies Front Desk Now, just so we’re clear here, when you’re booking your hotel room, you can make a few requests at this time, too — like asking for two connecting rooms or a crib. But when you’re checking into your room virtually, you’ll be given a limited option of requests from a drop-down list, as well, and these requests are dependent on the hotel you’re staying at. So, for example, you might have the option of requesting a room near an elevator, or a room on the ground floor, or a room located in a certain building. While these rooms aren’t 100% guaranteed even when requested, Disney will do their best to try and accommodate ya! Grand Floridian Online check-in is ALSO great because it’ll let you know when your room is aaaaalll ready for you by sending you real-time updates straight to your phone. Typically, check-in time for the Disney hotels starts at 3 PM, while check-in time for the deluxe villas starts at 4 PM — but that doesn’t necessarily mean your room will be ready for you right at 3/4 PM on the dot. That’s why having your phone’s push notifications turned on can come in real handy! When Is Disney Going To Fix This Glaring App PROBLEM? NEWCOMER TIP #3: Pick Up A First-Time Guest Button! If you’re gonna REALLY celebrate your first-ever Disney World visit, then you’ve GOTTA do so in STYLE. First Visit Celebration Buttons Celebration buttons are these big round pieces of FREE metal flair that let everyone know it’s your birthday, or you’re on your honeymoon, or — y’know — that you’re celebrating your FIRST DISNEY WORLD VISIT! These free buttons can be picked up at your hotel’s front desk or in the parks at Guest Relations. And sometimes (not ALL the time, but SOMETIMES) certain restaurants around the Disney World property will see your button and want to celebrate along with you by handing out a FREE dessert at the end of your meal! The SECRET Place To Get a FREE Souvenir in Disney World NEWCOMER TIP #4: Book Lightning Lanes EARLY! If you truly are new to the Disney scene, then you’re gonna want to study up on Disney’s Multi Pass, Single Pass, and Premier Pass services. ©Disney IF you’re staying at a Disney World Resort hotel, you can purchase Multi Pass, Single Pass, and Premier Pass services up to seven days in advance of your hotel check-in day. And with Multi Pass specifically, you’ll be able to make THREE advance Lightning Lane selections (AKA: the shorter ride lines that bypass the main ride lines) per park purchase, covering your entire stay (which goes up to 14 days out). So if we purchased Multi Pass for Magic Kingdom and Disney’s Hollywood Studios, we can make THREE Lightning Lane selections ahead of time for each park. Get familiar with Lightning Lanes at Disney World! Meanwhile, all other guests who’ll be staying OFF Disney property will be able to purchase and select their first 3 Lightning Lane Multi Passes three days in advance. This means those who are staying ON-SITE will get the cream of the crop when it comes to Lightning Lane selections. To learn more about Lightning Lanes, check out our video below! NEWCOMER TIP #5: Use Hotel Benefits To Gain MORE Time In The Parks! Early Theme Park entry is available for ALL guests staying at a Disney-owned hotel, allowing you to enter ANY of the Disney World parks on ANY day, 30 minutes BEFORE they open for the general public — giving you the ultimate head start to your Disney park visit. Early Entry at EPCOT Meanwhile, Extended Evening Hours are available for deluxe resort guests ONLY, and these give you the chance to stay in select parks on select evenings up to two hours LONGER than everyone else. These hours are ideal since you’ll have WAY shorter lines to worry about at the end of the night! If you want to know which parks offer Extended Evening Hours on specific nights, check out Disney’s Hours and Events calendar online. CONFIRMED: Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind Added to Early Entry at Disney World NEWCOMER TIP #6: Find Discounts! Whether you’re planning on staying at a deluxe, moderate, or value resort, Disney frequently highlights hotel discounts on their special offers, deals, and discounts page online. Art of Animation lobby More often than not, there’s gonna be SOME sort of 10, 15, or 20% off promotion going on — just make sure you read the fine print before you rely too heavily on a certain savings opportunity since not every Disney hotel room will be eligible for it. NEW Discounts and Deals for Your 2025 Disney World Vacation! NEWCOMER TIP #7: Learn ALL About The Resort Restaurants It’s SUPER important to know about the Disney World Resort hotel restaurants before you go since EVERYONE is allowed to dine at them — hotel guest or not! Sanaa Dining room If you want to learn more about each Disney Hotel restaurant (as well as all the other restaurants on Disney World property), be sure to check out our FULL DFB Guide to Walt Disney World Dining over on the DFBStore website! DFB Guide To Disney World Dining With a guide purchase, you’ll have complete access to ALL of our most recent restaurant reviews, updated food pictures, recommendations, and even some fun extra activities to make your days tasting around Disney EXTRA special! Disney World Restaurants Guide NEWCOMER TIP #8: Check Out A Water Park For FREE! If you’re staying at ANY Disney World hotel in 2025, you’ll receive free tickets to one of Disney World’s two water parks to use on your check-in day. Typhoon Lagoon The catch is you can ONLY use that free water park perk on your check-in day. Even though your room won’t be ready until later in the afternoon, you can still drop off your luggage with your resort’s bell services once you arrive. Blizzard Beach Then, you can head STRAIGHT to the water parks to get as MUCH time in the lazy river or wave pool as possible. Everything You Need To Know About Disney World’s NEW Hotel Perk in 2025 NEWCOMER TIP #9: Ask for HELP! Planning a trip to Disney World for the first time can feel overwhelming, but you never have to do it all alone! Magic Kingdom Playground at Dumbo the Flying Elephant The indoor children’s playground inside the Dumbo the Flying Elephant queue will close for refurbishment on February 24th, 2025. While the playground will be closed, the ride will still be open and available for kids of all ages to soar through the sky! Dumbo the Flying Elephant The indoor playground is expected to reopen in Spring 2025. Hall of Presidents The Hall of Presidents closed at Magic Kingdom on January 20th. Hall of Presidents The attraction is closed until later in 2025, though a specific date has not been shared by Disney. We will keep an eye out for updates, though! The closure is likely to change out the current president as January 20th marked Inauguration Day. While it is closed, other maintenance and routine work may also be happening. Astro Orbiter If you want to blast off into space, you’ll have to head over to Space Mountain because Astro Orbiter will be temporarily closed for refurbishment! Astro Orbiter Astro Orbiter will be closed as of January 13th and is planned to reopen in the summer of 2025. No specific date has been announced for the high-in-the-sky ride, but we’ll keep our eyes peeled for an update from Disney. The ride has currently been completely dismantled and is being refurbished elsewhere. It definitely looks a little barren as you are walking into Tomorrowland right now! SNEAK PEEK Behind-the-Scenes at the NEW Pirates Lounge Coming to Magic Kingdom Big Thunder Mountain Railroad We’ve been anticipating this ride closure for a while now, and on January 6th, Big Thunder Mountain Railroad closed for an extended temporary closure. Big Thunder Mountain Railroad The “Wildest Ride in the Wilderness” will be closed for at least a year and will reopen sometime in 2026. The ride will be undergoing maintenance while it is closed. When it reopens, it will have some “new magic,” according to Disney. We can’t wait to see what changes will be coming to this ever-popular roller coaster! Frontierland Shootin’ Arcade On June 23rd, we had to say goodbye to an opening-day attraction that had been around for generations and provided simple fun to all who played. Now, the attraction has closed to make room for a new Disney Vacation Club lounge. Frontierland Shootin’ Arcade will become the lounge! This lounge will be the third in Disney World, joining one in EPCOT and one at Disney’s Contemporary Resort. Disney has not yet announced when the new lounge will open. Disney recently filed a new permit for the new DVC lounge, McKim’s Mile House, to install signage. We have been eagerly waiting to see if we can see the signage outside, but so far, we have had no luck. Tomorrowland Terrace Tomorrowland Terrace is a quick-service restaurant that has been closed since the 2020 pandemic-related closures, but even before that, this spot was only occasionally open. Tomorrowland Terrace Once in a while, you’ll see the dining room open as a rest area (and it’s still being used for the Magic Kingdom Fireworks Dessert Parties), but it’s usually all roped off and empty. Disney hasn’t announced when this spot could finally reopen, but we’ll be watching for updates. If you’re looking for a nice spot to hang out in Disney World and take a rest, this could be it! Tortuga Tavern Just like Tomorrowland Terrace, Tortuga Tavern is also a seasonal restaurant in Magic Kingdom. It has been a bit since we have seen it open. Most recently, it was used as a cookie location for Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party. Tortuga Tavern However, there are now shrubs up around the dining area of the restaurant, and work is being done. When we stopped by recently, some of the shrubs had been taken down, and it looked like work had been done on the ground. We don’t know exactly when/if this restaurant will reopen, but we will keep you updated if we learn more! CHANGES Hit an Iconic Magic Kingdom Store EPCOT Test Track Test Track closed on June 17th, and Disney is giving this ride a BIG makeover! Test Track construction Disney has shared that the new version of Test Track will take inspiration from the old ride, World of Motion, that was originally there when the park opened in 1982. Disney shared more details at D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Experience, and an updated opening timeline was just announced! We’ll be able to ride Test Track once again in late summer 2025. Restaurant Marrakesh Restaurant Marrakesh is currently closed as a dining location in the Morocco pavilion of EPCOT’s World Showcase, and there’s no word yet on when the restaurant could fully reopen. Restaurant Marrakesh Occasionally, we’ll see it open as a lounge or Kidcot Fun Stop. So, if you’re in the Morocco Pavilion, check it out to see if it’s open. We’re watching for updates on when the full restaurant could reopen! EVERYTHING You Need To Eat and Drink at the 2025 EPCOT Flower & Garden Festival Hollywood Studios Lightning McQueen’s Racing Academy The Cars-themed show featuring Lighting McQueen permanently closed on October 8th, 2024, to make way for a brand-new Villains show. Sunset Showcase The Cars show was previously housed in the Sunset Showcase building, but the last day for guests to enjoy it was October 7th. The new Villains show is supposed to debut in the summer of 2025. We’re always watching for more details about the new show, and we recently spotted a casting call for Cruella de Vil, Captain Hook, and Maleficent! Voyage of the Little Mermaid Voyage of the Little Mermaid is currently closed in Disney World. But a bit ago we spotted that the iconic Voyage of the Little Mermaid marquee has been removed! So far it is still missing, but we are curious what, if anything, will takes its place. Disney is going to introduce a new, updated show in this spot, though it will still be themed to the animated movie The Little Mermaid! The new show will be called “The Little Mermaid — A Musical Adventure,” and it is now coming to Disney’s Hollywood Studios in Summer 2025. The marquee is now gone! Disney still hasn’t announced an official opening date for the new show, but it has been postponed from its Fall 2024 opening timeline. It will be a “fully reimagined theatrical production inspired by the Walt Disney Animation Studios classic.” Are We Just Gonna Ignore This HUGE Sign in the Hollywood Studios Concept Art?! Animal Kingdom Bat Exhibit at Maharajah Jungle Trek The bat exhibit on the Maharajah Jungle Trek closed for refurbishment on February 17th, 2025. While this portion of the trail is closed, the rest of the Maharajah Jungle Trek is open! You could even spot baby tiger Bakso, who recently made his debut in the tiger exhibit. However, be prepared to wait to see this adorable addition, and plan on arriving early. Maharajah Jungle Trek The bat exhibit is expected to reopen in early March 2025, so it should be anytime now! But don’t let its closure keep you from making the trek — there is still so much to see! TriceraTop Spin, Chester & Hester’s Dinosaur Treasures, and Fossil Fun Games The first round of closures began in DinoLand U.S.A. on January 13th, 2025. TriceraTop Spin, Chester & Hester’s Dinosaur Treasures, and Fossil Fun Game were closed down, and construction has begun on the brand-new land themed to the Tropical Americas, Pueblo Esperanza. The walls have been up since the closure, and things have been disappearing from behind the walls. Almost everything has been taken down behind the walls, including the large green dinosaur. DinoLand, U.S.A. It is definitely a sad sight, but we are also excited to see Pueblo Esperanza! DINOSAUR, Restaurantosaurus, the snack stands, and The Boneyard remain open. Disney hasn’t announced an official closing date for the rest of DinoLand. However, they have announced that “2025 is your year to visit before it goes extinct!” My Very Blunt Reason for Not Riding This Animal Kingdom Ride Disney Springs Starbucks on the West Side The Starbucks on the West Side of Disney Springs is temporarily closed for refurbishment. It closed on March 3rd but is expected to reopen in mid-summer. Starbucks is temporarily closed on the West Side Have no fear, though — you can still get your Starbucks fix in Disney Springs! Head over to the Disney Springs Marketplace location, which will be open during the refurbishment. Caffeine headaches are not allowed in Disney Springs! We FINALLY Know What Is Going in This Abandoned Space at Disney Springs Typhoon Lagoon Blizzard Beach officially welcomed guests back on November 4th! That same day, Typhoon Lagoon closed its gates for the season. Typhoon Lagoon Typhoon Lagoon will be reopening on May 1st, 2025. When it reopens, Blizzard Beach will be temporarily closing. Disney has been having one water park open at a time seasonally since 2020. In the meantime, you can enjoy the slopes at Blizzard Beach this winter! Click here to learn all about Blizzard Beach! Disney World Hotels Boat Transportation — Disney’s Old Key West Resort From February 10th until early April 2025, boat transportation from Disney’s Old Key West Resort to Disney Springs will be unavailable. The resort will offer buses to take you to Disney Springs during this time. Old Key West While it can be frustrating if you are looking forward to using the boat to get to Disney Springs, Disney always ensures you have a way to get where you need to go. The bus may not be quite as fun of a way to get there, but you will still reach your destination! Stormalong Bay and Hurricane Hanna’s– Disney’s Yacht and Beach Club Resorts Stormalong Bay is the shared pool between Disney’s Yacht and Beach Club Resorts. It features a beach, a lazy river, a large pool, and an exciting pirate ship slide! When we stopped by recently, we noticed that they were hard at work at Stormalong Bay. Stormalong Bay Construction From January until June, this pool area will be closed for refurbishment. While it’s closed, hotel guests can use the Tidal (Beach Club), Admiral (Yacht Club), and Dunes Cove (Beach Club) leisure pools. During the refurbishment, Hurricane Hanna’s, the pool bar at Stormalong Bay will also be closed. Well, This Isn’t Something You See at Disney World Hotels Every Day Fantasia Pool — Disney’s All-Star Movies Resort From January 1st through April 30th, the Fantasia Pool at Disney’s All-Star Movies Resort will be closed. Fantasia Pool While this pool is closed, you can swim at the Duck Pond Pool at Disney’s All-Star Movies Resort if you’re staying here. Everything POP Shopping & Dining — Disney’s Pop Century Resort The Everything Pop Food Court still remains on Disney World’s refurbishment. However, the area looks open except for one food window! Since July 29th, Everything Pop has been getting some work done. The refurbishment was supposed to end on September 29th. However, it was extended to being under refurbishment until April 2025. Currently, it is still under refurbishment, but the full food court and dining area are available; guests just might see or hear construction work being done. Pop Century’s new food court When we stopped by a few weeks back, it looked like all the walls were down. A Cast Member said the food court and gift shop are pretty much done, but some behind-the-scenes work is still being done. The only thing we noticed was one food window still closed off. Merchandise Locations — Disney’s BoardWalk The merchandise locations along Disney’s BoardWalk will be closing for refurbishment in phases. The closures will last until May 2025, but two merchandise locations will always be available during the refurbishment. Screen Door General Store The Character Carnival is currently closed. While they are working on the Character Carnival, you can shop at Screen Door General Store and Thimbles & Threads. First-Timers Should Stay at Disney World’s Most Hated Hotels. I Said What I Said. Did you see that Disney’s Pop Century Resort got a makeover recently? Pop Century We’ve been noticing quite a few changes at the value resort, but it seems like it’s FINALLY all coming together. Check out how bright and colorful the lobby of Pop Century looks these days! Everything Pop The resort recently got a new paint job with plenty of gorgeous paintings, pops of color, and new seating areas in the food court. Bold seating! Disney Imagineering says they were “taking point from the over-the-top and colorful outdoor elements, we worked on making the inside of the resort as fun as the outside.” Here’s a peek at the hotel gift shop, too! It matches the food court quite nicely. The gift shop! There’s also a brand-new coffee shop coming! Beyond the construction walls, a Cast Member hinted that this area will be similar to a brewery concept where they will serve beer and coffee. We don’t have any opening dates yet, but we’re excited! What’s behind the wall? Disney has been upgrading its value resorts quite a bit! We’ve seen some new murals at All-Star Movies Resort, and Sport Goofy Gifts & Sundries is getting some updates at All-Star Sports Resort. The insides of the resorts are becoming more themed and different, and we love it! World Premiere Food Court While it seems that there are still quite a few construction walls up, everything at Pop Century is moving forward and will hopefully be finished soon! What’s better than getting to see Bakso, Animal Kingdom‘s newest tiger cub resident, for yourself? How about seeing Bakso AND some of your favorite Disney characters AT THE SAME TIME! Now, THAT experience is pretty magical! The Wilderness must be Explored! Animal Kingdom is not only home to lots of exciting animal trails and attractions, but you can also meet some of your favorite Disney characters in meet-and-greets spread all throughout the park. Well, Disney just combined those two things, and Russell, Carl, and Dug from Pixar’s Up just got to see Bakso for the first time! If you want to see Bakso in the park, the good news is that he’s usually out every day with Sohni! However, as these are live animals, Disney doesn’t force them out into their public habitat if they don’t want to, and the animals can, of course, choose to stay hidden or sleep as much as they’d like throughout the day. Bakso and his mom It’s never a guarantee that you’ll see any animal, especially baby Bakso, but if you’d like the best chance at seeing him, we recommend rope-dropping the Maharajah Jungle Trek (which usually opens around 9 AM) and heading straight to the tiger viewing areas to see him. As it gets warmer outside, cooler morning weather and any rainy day will often be some of the best times to view any active animals, especially Bakso. Via @drmarkatdisney on Instagram This is currently a VERY popular attraction, so keep in mind that there will be a LOT of people behind you who want to see Bakso as well. It’s important to be cognizant of how much time you’re spending in front of the viewing windows and let other people have their turn as well. We know it’s hard to pull yourself away because he’s so stinkin’ cute, but other people want to see him just as much as you do, and it’s only fair everyone gets their turn! Paddy’s Bar has officially opened in Disney Springs! We have been keeping a close eye on the construction since we first learned about this new bar in June 2024. Paddy’s Bar is open! And now, the time has come! We are here to check out the brand-new bar and give you all the details. Paddy’s Bar is an addition to the Raglan Road complex in The Landing of Disney Springs. The Raglan Road complex brings authentic Irish experiences to the streets of Disney Springs, and we are so excited to check out the newest addition. In addition to Paddy’s Bar, you will find Raglan Road, an authentic Irish pub, the Cookes of Dublin quick service location, and the Hole in the Wall Bar. Raglan Road Paddy’s Bar is officially joining the lineup, and we are bringing you a first look at the new area! This bar is named after the poet Patrick Kavanaugh, who wrote the poem “Raglan Road.” Let’s take a look at the new space! Paddy’s Bar Even though the bar only has nine barstool and only offers drinks, we think it looks gorgeous. The drink menu at Paddy’s Bar features “the very best of Irish draft beers along with locally commissioned craft beers – plus [an] unique array of Irish cocktails.” Paddy’s Bar Menu You will find 12 beer taps and a full bar. Of course, you can grab a Guinness on tap or choose from Harp, Smithwick’s, Kilkenny, or some American favorites. You can get a beer in three different sizes: 16 oz., 24 oz., or 32 oz. However, if you are not sitting at the bar but instead at a table, you can only get a 16 oz. Beer on tap The bar has gorgeous green tile work with wood accents… We love the tile work! …and is finished with a beautiful white marble bar. For being an outdoor space, we felt like it had a very classy feel! White marble bar There are lots of fun signs and decor throughout the bar. It seemed like everywhere you looked there was something new to see! We love all the details If you are looking for a grab and go option, you can step right up to the Irish Beer Refuel line! Grab a cold one to go and enjoy all that Disney Springs has to offer. Irish Beer Refuel Line Today, March 8th, was the official soft opening of Paddy’s Bar and we can already tell this will likely be a popular spot. There is limited seating, but you can always hop in the beer refuel line if there isn’t an available bar stool. Paddy’s Bar Disney Springs is home to more than just Paddy’s Bar, though. Disney Experiences is at South by Southwest (SXSW), an annual festival in Austin, TX, that focuses on the “most important breakthroughs in technology, film, culture, and music.” ©SXSW The festival will take place from March 7th through March 15th. Disney Experiences is leading a panel on “The Future of World-Building at Disney,” and a MAJOR celebrity just crashed the party! From there, the ride vehicles will transfer from a track to a robot arm and then back again, which Disney is very excited to unveil when the ride officially opens later. “Nothing like this has ever been done before in a theme park,” said Bruce Vaughn. “Usually, we hide all the tech behind the scenes so you can focus on the story. Here, the tech IS the story, so we’re putting it front and center.” Stark Flight Lab will train guests to fly using new flight technology from Tony Stark’s workshop. ©Disney Speaking of tech, one notable highlight to watch for is Tony Stark’s beloved robotic friend, DUM-E. What started off as a passing comment RDJ made about a robotic arm for Stark Flight Lab while visiting Imagineering quickly turned into an easter egg worked into the attraction. As they began to wind down their segment teasing Stark Flight Labs coming to Avengers Campus, RDJ told Feige and Vaughn, “Even after we finish with the Flight Lab, I want to stay with you all for the long haul.” He was also heard screaming from the crowd, “This isn’t a one-time deal. You need more me.” ©SXSW Stay tuned to DFB for all your Disney news, including a recap of Disney’s panel at SXSW! For more than a century, The Walt Disney Company has been looking to the future by mixing its artistry with its innovative technology. Working seamlessly across the company, Disney has crafted a world of its own — one in which new advances in technology are bringing the stories that unfold on-screen, and the stories guests experience in-person, closer than ever before. On Saturday, Disney Experiences Chairman Josh D’Amaro and Disney Entertainment Co-Chairman Alan Bergman explored Disney’s unique power to connect creativity with innovative experiences at the company’s featured session at the South by Southwest® (SXSW®) conference in Austin, Texas. “We’re constantly developing new tools that allow us to tell our stories in even more compelling ways. It’s a seamless blend of art and science we take directly from our founder, Walt Disney. He was our original visionary and innovator,” D’Amaro said to kick off the company’s session, The Future of World-Building at Disney, on Saturday. In front of a packed crowd, Bergman echoed D’Amaro’s sentiments by noting that at Disney it all starts “with great storytelling.” “We work with the best storytellers to dream up new worlds full of heart, fun, and imagination,” he said. “We truly have something for everyone, with so many ways to experience it. This helps us have strong connections with our audience, which is so unique to Disney.” Here is a look inside the company’s featured session at SXSW — including some of the exciting announcements that Disney revealed on Saturday. The Art of Collaboration Alan Bergman, Josh D’Amaro at the Featured Session “The Future of World-Building at Disney” during SXSW Conference & Festivals in the Austin Convention Center on March 8, 2025 in Austin, Texas. D’Amaro and Bergman began the session on Saturday by focusing on Disneyland, which is celebrating its 70th anniversary in July. “Disneyland is an incredibly special place. It’s our original park. It’s the only one Walt physically walked through during his life,” D’Amaro said. “When he began working on this new venture in the early ’50s, there really wasn’t anything quite like it at that point. So, to turn this dream into reality, he went to the people he trusted most. He went to his storytellers.” Bergman explained that Walt reassigned a small group of animators from the movie studio to design this new experience to bring these stories to life. “Eventually, he coined a new term for these creative geniuses – he called them ‘Imagineers,’” D’Amaro said. Bergman added that “the key to all of this is the partnership we have between our two teams. And we start that collaboration very early on.” “One of my favorite parts of my job is joining Josh and his team early in those concept meetings, where we get to see our stories and characters take on a whole new life,” Bergman continued. Because at Disney, according to D’Amaro, stories don’t “end when the credits roll on a film, or when you walk out the front of one of our parks.” “They keep growing and they keep evolving,” he said. And one of the best examples of this type of world-building is taking place in a galaxy far, far away… A Galaxy of Innovative Storytelling Jon Favreau at the Featured Session “The Future of World-Building at Disney” during SXSW Conference & Festivals in the Austin Convention Center on March 8, 2025 in Austin, Texas. The next part of the World-Building session focused on the iconic Star Wars brand. D’Amaro and Bergman brought out Imagineers Leslie Evans and Asa Kalama, as well as The Mandalorian and Grogu director and Disney Legend Jon Favreau. Not to mention, a flock of BDX droids. “We’ve been working in robotics at Imagineering since the very beginning. Walt really saw this technology as a cool way to bring characters to life,” Kalama said. “Think tiki birds, Abraham Lincoln, it’s a small world, but obviously today the technology has really come incredibly far.” However, unlike the animatronics of the past, the BDX droids can learn and teach each other. This process, called reinforcement learning, is an entirely new way to program animatronic characters, according to Evans. She explained that the BDX droids walk freely around and explore environments, interacting with guests and each other. To achieve this, Imagineers built digital avatars of the droids and set them loose in a virtual environment — thousands at a time. “They learn, they experiment, they teach each other, and they figure out how to navigate different types of terrain,” she said. “When we’re training in simulation, we’re not just teaching them to balance, we’re teaching them how to learn to walk as characters and imitate those core animations that really give them their personality.” BDX Droids at the Featured Session “The Future of World-Building at Disney” during SXSW Conference & Festivals in the Austin Convention Center on March 8, 2025 in Austin, Texas. As for Favreau, he revealed that the BDX droids — which first appeared at Disneyland — will be making their on-screen debut in next year’s The Mandalorian and Grogu — another showcase of the seamless connection between Disney’s studios and its experiences. But that’s not all. The droids will be visiting Walt Disney World, Tokyo Disneyland, and Disneyland Paris later this year. And Kalama explained that the popular Star Wars attraction Millennium Falcon: Smuggler’s Run at Disneyland and Walt Disney World will be getting an update which takes guests into the world of The Mandalorian for Memorial Day weekend 2026 — the very same weekend The Mandalorian and Grogu movie debuts in theaters. “This really all goes back to what Alan and Josh were just talking about — the incredible collaboration between our teams. I mean, opening an attraction and such a big movie like this on the same day, it really wouldn’t be possible without the relationships we have inside Disney,” Kalama said. The Specificity of Pixar and Disney Imagineering Star Wars isn’t the only Disney brand that benefits from the collaboration between Studios and Experiences. Pixar, the beloved and award-winning animation studio, has seen its footprint grow at Disney parks and resorts over decades. “We at Pixar have been working with Imagineering for a long time creating these incredible experiences, all over the world,” Pete Docter, Pixar’s Chief Creative Officer, said on stage. “We’re such fans of the Disney parks, we even use them as a sort of test for ourselves. When we’re coming up with the sets and environments, we ask ourselves, ‘Is this somewhere I’d want to go if they built it at Disneyland?’” Docter continued by saying that in the end, the filmmakers at Pixar and the Imagineers rely on a fundamental principle in everything they do: specificity. “Getting to know all the little details and getting those right, that’s how we build authenticity into our worlds,” he said. “It really has to feel real because that’s what allows you to believe in the story.” Imagineer Michael Hundgen joined Docter on stage to talk about two new Pixar projects in the works for Walt Disney World, starting with an amazing new attraction that takes guests on a rip-roaring ride through the door vault in the company’s first land inspired by Monsters, Inc. “We have never done anything like this before,” Hundgen said of the new attraction. “It’s Disney’s first suspended coaster, it’s our first vertical lift. We’re designing this experience to be as memorable and as fun as the film itself.” The other innovative Pixar attraction coming to Disney World is an off-road rally race inspired by Cars. “When we’re designing our attractions, our primary goal is to create an emotional experience for our guests, just like the filmmakers do on the screen. For this Cars attraction, we need to invent a new type of ride vehicle to create that feeling,” Hundgen said. He continued by saying that Imagineers took a trip out to the Arizona desert and rented some off-road vehicles to ride along different trails. This helped them bring authenticity to the story. The Imagineers took everything they learned during their trip to build a custom dirt track with geometry similar to what they liked on the trails. Then, once the data was collected, it was time to start working on the attraction vehicle. “The workload on our ride vehicles far exceeds a normal car,” Hundgen said. “They run 12 hours a day, 7 days a week for decades. If your car does 13,000 miles a year, ours go up to 65,000 miles every year, depending on the attraction. And on top of that, we’re running it on this really tough terrain.” Docter concluded the Pixar section of the session by returning to the theme of specificity. “Like I said at the beginning — specificity is key. You can see here the level of detail the Imagineers are going for. Now imagine that applying to everything, every part of the attraction,” Docter said. “That’s the standard [Imagineers] set, and we’re proud to work alongside Imagineering these many years to really try to bring our movies out there into authentic Pixar experiences.” The Fantastic World-Building of Marvel Robert Downey Jr at the Featured Session “The Future of World-Building at Disney” during SXSW Conference & Festivals in the Austin Convention Center on March 8, 2025 in Austin, Texas. Next up was Marvel, Disney’s blockbuster Super Hero brand, and what would a conversation about innovation and Marvel be without… Iron Man? “I’m digging this wild blend of art, science, and culture that SXSW has become,” Disney Legend Robert Downey Jr., Tony Stark himself, said surprising those in attendance on Saturday. “It’s the place to be!” But he wasn’t alone. Kevin Feige, Producer and President of Marvel Studios, and Bruce Vaughn, the President and Chief Creative Officer for Walt Disney Imagineering, also joined Downey Jr. on stage. “Just like my colleagues at the other studios, I’m a giant, giant Disney parks fan,” Feige said. “I’m always drawn to the places that showcase Walt’s vision for the future — particularly Tomorrowland and EPCOT. They share a mid-century, retro-futuristic design language that I love… In fact, it’s served as an inspiration for our new film coming out this summer, The Fantastic Four: First Steps.” Vaughn shared that guests will be able to see the entire Fantastic Four at Disneyland this summer. Disney Imagineering is creating a real-life Herbie robot from the film, too. “This is what is so great about our teams collaborating the way they do — we’re always coming up with crazy ideas that we know our guests will love,” Vaughn added. He noted that Disney recently broke ground on a massive expansion for Avengers Campus at Disney California Adventure — doubling the size of the land with two incredible new attractions. The first: Avengers Infinity Defense, which will have guests assemble the Avengers to battle King Thanos across multiple worlds. That includes fighting alongside Black Panther, Ant-Man, and the Hulk, among other heroes. “I think it is by far the largest collection of heroes we’ve ever put into an attraction,” Feige said. The other attraction is Stark Flight Lab, which hits close to home for Downey Jr. “Tony opened my eyes wider to the power technology has to impact the world for good, and that’s something I’ll carry with me the rest of my days,” Downey Jr. said. Vaughn added that Downey Jr. will be reprising his role in the attraction, which takes you inside Tony’s workshop filled with cutting-edge tech. That includes a massive robot arm that reaches down, grabs a guest’s pod, and lifts them off the track, where they will make several high-speed maneuvers inspired by Iron Man and some other Avengers. After your flight, the arm sets you back on the track and you zip away again. Vaughn continued by telling the audience that Downey Jr. was invited to Imagineering to see what Disney is working on as well as help them get the details right. “What I didn’t know was how stealth and exclusive Walt Disney Imagineering headquarters was,” Downey Jr. said. “It’s the Area 51 of Fun.” Downey Jr. added that even after Disney finishes Stark Flight Lab, he’d like to stick around. “I want to stay involved for the long haul. I want to be part of the future,” he said. “So, this isn’t a one-time deal, and I say this with all the humility I can muster, you need more… me.” A request that D’Amaro and Bergman were more than happy to make happen. “Oh, you don’t have to ask us twice,” Bergman said returning to the stage with D’Amaro. “Anytime you want to want to come over to Imagineering, you are welcome,” D’Amaro added. “Tony Stark lives on forever with us.” Downey Jr. then quipped, “so that’s a verbal confirmation. It’s binding. I thank you for stating it with 2,000 witnesses.” The post Disney Explores the Future of World-Building at SXSW Conference appeared first on Disney Experiences. View the full article

Believe it or not, being the editor of a digital media website that talks about Disney cupcakes all day is a full-time job. Actual photo of me talking about hot dogs for my job Trust me, I know how ridiculous it sounds, but being an editor for Disney Food Blog is, in fact, my actual, real job — and it’s one I take very seriously. Just kidding! While there is plenty of serious business to be had at Disney Food Blog behind the scenes, there is also plenty of fun and excitement — and I’m bringing you along for a day in the life of a DFB editor! DFB has been around for a while, which means that by now we’ve got a pretty good system down that keeps the ship afloat. I’m actually one of a few editors, and we all share duties while having individual responsibilities as well. But, one thing is always certain — no two days will ever look the same here at Disney Food Blog. You never know when breaking news might pop up (or when Disney will announce the cupcake to end all cupcakes). Cinderella Castle On a typical day when I’m running things, I’ll wake up bright and early to check for any news that may have popped up overnight that we need to cover before making sure our writers have enough assignments to keep them busy for the day. And, while you might think that eventually there couldn’t possibly be any more Disney or theme park and travel news, we still haven’t run out yet! Animal Kingdom Ultimately, my day mostly consists of editing and publishing posts on the sites, along with keeping an eye on any potential news that might pop up. There are also lots of boring tasks on my daily to-do list, like coming up with exciting topics and titles to write about, along with checking to see how previous posts have done on the site. Oh, and meetings. I’ve got plenty of meetings! Disney’s Hollywood Studios Even though no two days are alike, I can pretty much always count on some sort of news popping up throughout the day, whether it’s Disney, Universal, or other travel and theme park topics we cover here on DFB. Luckily, I’m part of a fabulous team that can handle anything that might come up when it does. There are a lot of moving parts here at DFB, with multiple different teams and departments. Part of my job as an editor involves communicating with each department to make sure everyone is on the same page across the DFB brand as a whole. EPCOT We have reporters in the parks every day as well, which means I’m also keeping tabs on the information that they’re sending in case it’s newsworthy. If breaking news does pop up, I’ll make sure we have all the info we need before assigning our writers to get the news out there. And, since you’re reading this, you’ve probably realized that I still do quite a bit of writing for Disney Food Blog too! I started out as a writer and still enjoy that side of things, but being an editor definitely keeps things interesting. Get ready to turn into your own Marvel superhero! Avengers Campus ©Disney Disney California Adventure’s Avengers Campus has given parkgoers the opportunity to meet their favorite Marvel superheroes and enter the world of Marvel through a couple of attractions since it opened in 2021. However, one major criticism since opening is that it might not be enough. The scope of the Marvel Cinematic Universe is massive — it is the highest-grossing box office franchise of all time — so it’s unsurprising that guests often feel the Avengers-inspired land could do more. Well, Disney’s heard the fans and plans to DOUBLE the attractions within the land, including a brand-new Iron Man-themed thrill attraction! Stark Flight Lab will also be joined by the other new attraction: Avengers Infinity Defense! According to Disney, this Avengers Campus ride features a scenario where “technology that allows the Avengers to jump between worlds has gone missing, and King Thanos is using it to wreak havoc everywhere.” Avengers Infinity Defense will have guests join in battle across the multiverse alongside the Avengers to defeat King Thanos and recover stolen Stark technology. Riders will board their vehicle and join the Avengers as they visit Marvel locations such as Wakanda and Asgard while taking on King Thanos in a large battle across the multiverse. NEW ride vehicle! Back at D23, Disney announced that an official Monsters Inc. themed land, Monstropolis, would be coming to Hollywood Studios. Not only that, but Chairman Josh D’Amaro told the crowd, “You’ll go into the factory and experience the first suspended coaster ever in a Disney park. Remember in the movie how those claws grab the doors and hoist them up into the air to take them away? We’re doing that, too. And you’re going along for the ride.” D23 Ever since then, we have been eagerly anticipating any news about the upcoming attraction (because just like Josh D’Amaro, we too have always wanted to ride on the doors like Mike and Sulley!). Now, the day has finally arrived-Disney has revealed all-new details about the coaster! Let’s go check it out. In the video, you can see the coaster being LIFTED off the ground! We have NEVER seen anything like that before. It’s the world’s first! ©Disney This helps eliminate the need for a vertical hill in the coaster, making it different from other coasters. The new Monsters, Inc. Land will take humans to Monstropolis for the first time ever! Here, the monsters are looking for your help. They need our laughs to power the city and keep things working. A new land themed to Pixar Animation Studios’ “Monsters, Inc.” is coming to Disney’s Hollywood Studios. Taking place after the events of the film, Monstropolis need humans’ laughter to power the city. Guests can even ride on a door like Mike and Sully in the iconic scene from the film with Disney’s first-ever suspended coaster. Inside the Monsters, Inc. plant, you’ll find the first-ever suspended roller coaster in a Disney park. A suspended roller-coaster is one where you sit in your seat, but your legs dangle off the ground. The seat is attached to the track above your head instead of under your seat. ©Disney It sounds like it’s going to be tons of fun! We even got to see a 3-D model of the new ride at the D23 event. The model looks really cool! You can how you’ll be inside the factory and whipping and twisting through the area holding all the doors to the human world. Concept art and model for the Monsters Inc. Land coming to Hollywood Studios Monstropolis is taking over Muppets Courtyard in Hollywood Studios while the Muppets are moving over to Rockin’ Roller Coaster. From the concept art, it also looks like we’ll be gaining HarryHausen’s from the Monsters, Inc. movie! ©Disney We’ve waited 23 years for this ride announcement, and we’re super excited to finally get to ride on a door through Monsters, Inc!
