Hey there, madam mayor reporting for duty. Here to give you the latest updates from Disney World’s most dangerous place…the tiny train town! Let’s go to the tiny train town! I stopped by the town a few days ago to see what kind of shenanigans the residents were getting into, and we’ve got some things to discuss! In the past, I’ve caught these ruffians in murder, espionage, vandalism, treachery, and more. But this week? Well, you’re going to be surprised. The biggest shock of this week’s visit to the tiny train town is that my residents were actually…ON THEIR BEST BEHAVIOR. (Cue collective gasp!) That’s right, there seemed to be no major plots afoot this week and I am certainly not taking the quiet for granted! I didn’t spot any new vandalism, debauchery, or obvious crime. Are the citizens…BEHAVING? Now, this could all be related to my plea during my last visit for the residents to be on their best behavior. We’re currently playing host to Mr. Mickey Mouse himself while he takes a vacation, and I wanted our residents to put on a good show. Thankfully, they’ve behaved! Good job guys! But even though we’ve had a relatively quiet week crime-wise, this visit was not without intrigue! It seems that there may be some love stories brewing in our little village. At the church on the outskirts of town where we’ve been waiting for a runaway bride, the maid of honor and best man have been spending increasingly more time together. Could we ring the wedding bells for an entirely different reason than the one that brought them together? The maid of honor and the best man are bonding! Also, I noticed last time that the new singles’ hang-out spot seems to be the various train stations around town. During this past visit, I spotted three gentlemen waiting there to pick up their dates for an evening of fun. Way to go, guys! Waiting for their dates And on top of the interesting love stories happening in our town, we also had another visitor! An EPCOT Cast Member stopped by to trim the trees. And yes, they use a teeny tiny hedge trimmer! Trimming the trees So all in all, it was an eventful week in the tiny town, even without crime! Stay tuned to DFB for more tiny town updates in the future. The anarchy within is mostly created by natural occurrences, like giant squirrels, wind, rain, and relatively godzilla-sized lizards who frequent the town; but we find it fun and entertaining to make up fictional stories about what COULD be happening. We are grateful to the folks who create and maintain this Tiny Train Town for Disney World, as it’s one of our favorite parts of EPCOT and always has been. Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort hotel is a super popular option for a whole host of reasons — and it’s about to get even more popular! ©Disney || Island Tower Later this year, the Island Tower at Disney’s Polynesian Villas and Bungalows will open, and we’ve been keeping an eye out for all the updates we can get. We’ve seen a sneak peek at some of the rooms and other areas of the hotel, including a full 3D room tour, too. But, we happened to notice something as we were perusing through the concept art — and we think you might be excited about it too! The new Island Tower at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort is set to open on December 17th, 2024! It’s a Disney Vacation Club property, but anyone is invited to book a reservation here. The 10-story tower will feature rooms of different sizes for parties of all shapes and sizes, plus dining options and more. But, if you ask us, the best thing about this new tower is going to be the VIEW! ©Disney In the concept art for some of the rooms, you can clearly see Magic Kingdom — and Cinderella Castle in the background, which makes sense given where the tower is located. This means that there will be NEW views for watching Magic Kingdom fireworks! ©Disney Just like the beach at the Polynesian now, which is near the location of the Island Tower, you’ll be able to get a glimpse of the show without having to leave the resort. They typically even pipe in the music to go along with the fireworks, and we’re hopeful that will be the case here. But, not only will you likely be able to view the fireworks from the common areas of the Island Tower on the water and at the restaurants, but certain hotel rooms will have views as well — meaning you could literally watch fireworks from your bed. Artist rendering of the terrace garden inspired by the islands of Hawai’i. The tower will feature four distinctly themed terrace gardens for members and guests to enjoy. © Disney Interested in booking a stay here? All guests are welcome to call to book a reservation to stay at the Island Tower NOW, so if you’re interested, you might want to see what’s available! Don’t want to go through all of the stress of booking your Disney World trip alone? Reach out to our friends at Small World Vacations! Their experienced agents monitor your reservation for possible future savings, compare discounts, and figure out which one works best for your travel party, dates, resort, and touring plans. They also share expert tips and first-hand advice with you about your magical vacation. We can’t wait to see what this new tower looks like once it’s finally open at Disney World. In the meantime, we’ll be on the lookout for the latest news from Disney World and more — so stay tuned to the Disney Food Blog if you don’t want to miss a thing. While restaurants, attractions, and lands are set to close all around Disney World soon, the closures are also hitting outside of the parks. Disney World There are so many great offerings inside Disney World that you essentially never have to leave the property during your vacation. There are plenty of restaurants, shops, entertainment, free transportation, and even gas stations and a car care center! But sometimes, it is good to venture outside of Disney World to hit up the two outlet malls that are near Disney World and take a trip to the Character Warehouse or get a bite to eat outside of Disney property. If you were looking to dine outside of Disney World, we wanted to give you a heads-up that a popular restaurant in Kissimmee has just permanently closed. Located on 7903 IRLO Bronson Memorial Highway, Joe’s Crab Shack was a popular restaurant for those visiting the Orlando area. Unfortunately, this location has officially closed its doors. Joe’s Crab Shack has even taken down the page for the specific location. The good news is that there are still other Joe’s Crab Shack locations still open around Central Florida. The nearest location to Disney World can be found at 10 Blake Blvd in Kissimmee. Plus, there are plenty of other dining options around the now-closed Joe’s Crab Shack, like Miller’s Ale House. ©Experience Kissimmee We will continue to monitor any news of restaurants closing near Disney World. As we mentioned, you can expect to see many closures at Disney World in the near future, as there are new and exciting projects on the horizon. Magic Kingdom So far, we know that Animal Kingdom will see closures and construction at both The Tree of Life as it transforms into a brand new Zootopia-themed show called Zootopia: Better Zoogether. The show is set to open in the winter of 2025 and will replace the current show, It’s Tough to be a Bug! DinoLand U.S.A. will also close to make way for Pueblo Esperanza, a Tropical Americas-themed land set to open in 2027 with three brand-new attractions. ©Disney Over in Hollywood Studios, there are only a few more days to experience Lightning McQueen’s Racing Academy, which will close on October 7th to make way for a brand-new Disney Villains stage show. ©Disney Magic Kingdom is also going to see many changes, as it was confirmed that the Rivers of America and Tom Sawyer Island will close to make way for two new Cars attractions. While we do not have too many details on the new Villains Land announced for “Beyond Big Thunder Mountain,” we can expect to see a lot of construction in Frontierland in the near future. ©Disney Currently ongoing in EPCOT, Test Track 2.0 closed to make way for Test Track 3.0, which will be inspired by Test Track’s predecessor, World of Motion. Test Track Construction While locations like restaurants are closing inside and outside of Disney World, like Joe’s Crab Shack in Kissimmee, it just means that new things are on the horizon! As always, keep following along with Disney Food Blog for more restaurant and Disney news! We have great news from Disney Springs! Disney Springs Disney Springs has had a recent trend of stores closing for refurbishment. However, some of them end up closing for good only to have other stores take their place. We’ve been really worried about the future of this sweet treat spot, as its reopening timeline has shifted multiple times over the past few weeks, but we’re happy to report that it’s FINALLY back open! Candy Cauldron is a candy store located in Disney Springs that closed for refurbishment back in August. After seeing it change its reopening date from September 18th, to the 20th, to the 27th, and then finally the 24th, we were really concerned at what was going on here. So imagine our surprise when we saw it OPEN this afternoon! It’s back open! That’s right, the Candy Cauldron is back open in Disney Springs and still has all of your favorite packaged and fresh-made treats ready to go. Back in business! This is a great place to grab candy apples, those infamous Disney gummies, and so much more. Freshly made caramel apples! If you’re a fan of Snow White, you’ll really want to stop in here, because there are so many offerings themed to the story. So cool! Including a giant statue of the Evil Queen in her disguise! Spooky! We love walking by here and smelling all the delicious treats, but we will be honest — nothing appears to have drastically changed in the storefront from this refurbishment. We’re assuming a lot more work happening in the Cast Member only area of the store, since we can’t see a lot of change from out front. BUT we do know that Frozen Glaciers are now on the menu when they weren’t before, and there are tons of exciting Halloween offerings available in the bakery case, which we love. Some new offerings, but other than that, not a lot has changed Looking for more Disney Springs news? Look no further! More Recent Disney Springs News! Another day at Disney World, another round of changes in the works! Magic Kingdom No matter when you’re planning on visiting the parks next, chances are they’ll be a little bit different than the last time you were there. Disney World is always changing, and some pretty big updates are in store over the next several years. But, we may start seeing some other changes roll out sooner than that — here’s what we mean. We’re always on the hunt for the latest construction permits filed by Disney to get an idea of what sort of changes might be coming to the parks, and we found a few you might want to know about this time around! Cinderella Castle Over in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, it looks like Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run will be getting some TLC in the near future — we think. We spotted a permit to “Provide labor, material, and/or electrical for construction” which is pretty vague, so it ultimately could mean anything. The contractor listed on the permit is Buena Vista Construction Company — one of Disney’s in-house contractors. Smugglers Run Be on the lookout for construction at Disney’s BoardWalk Inn Resort if you’re heading there soon. A new permit indicates some projects could be on the way here! The description is for general construction so we’ll be sure to keep an eye out for any major changes. As of now, no warnings are listed on the Disney World website so we’re not sure what sort of impact this permit could have on any upcoming stays. Disney’s Boardwalk Our next permit update brings us to EPCOT, where it looks like The Seas pavilion is in line for some potential projects. A general construction permit has been filed, but it doesn’t get any more specific than that. The Seas is home to aquariums, interactive experiences, and even a ride and restaurant — so this permit really could be for anything! The Seas Pavilion We also spotted a new permit for the Contemporary Resort near Magic Kingdom. This general construction permit doesn’t tell us a whole lot, but it does tell us we’ll need to keep an eye on any potential changes over at this hotel. Disney’s Contemporary Resort We’re always on the hunt for the latest Disney permits that might clue us into new projects and updates, so make sure you stay tuned to Disney Food Blog for more news! A State of Emergency was just declared by Governor Ron DeSantis as Potential Tropical Cyclone Nine is predicted to gain strength quickly and head towards Florida. Magic Kingdom during Hurricane Debby The State of Emergency lists 41 counties in Florida as the state prepares for the threat of severe weather later this week. Currently, the counties that make up Disney World are not included in the State of Emergency. However, that does not mean that Disney World will not experience severe weather from the storm. ©Ron DeSantis As well, the storm is not currently expected to make landfall until later this week, so there will likely still be shifts in what areas will be most impacted. The Potential Tropical Cyclone Nine is currently located in the Caribbean Sea and it is expected to intensify into a hurricane as it nears western Cuba and the northeastern coast of the Yucatan Peninsula. ©NHC The current models for the storm have it making landfall near the Florida panhandle, but again, the models will likely change as the storm continues to move. As stated in the State of Emergency, the storm is expected to bring heavy rainfall, flooding, and gusty winds which will result in widespread power outages. ©NHC If you are heading to Disney World soon or are already at Disney World, you will want to keep an eye on this storm. While Disney World is well prepared for hurricanes, you will still want to take the necessary precautions to make sure your group stays safe. Rain on Main Street during Hurricane Idalia in 2023 You will want to pack smart and make sure you have rain jackets and ponchos. We also recommend packing Ziploc bags to keep valuables dry and stock your hotel room with your favorite snacks and drinks. While the storm is not currently predicted to be a direct hit for Disney World, it is possible that parts of Disney World could close due to the severe weather. Make sure you are keeping an eye on the weather, so you stay informed of the current conditions. There are huge changes are coming to Animal Kingdom! Animal Kingdom At Destination D23 last year, it was announced that a Tropical Americas-themed land would take the place of DinoLand U.S.A. Well, at D23 this past August, we got more details about what is to come when this new area, now named Pueblo Esperanza. This new land is set to open by 2027 as construction will be done in different phases. This new land will feature three brand-new rides! But there is one ride that we have some bad news about. Pueblo Esperanza will be home to an Encanto-themed attraction, a carousel that will feature some of our favorite Disney animals, and DINOSAUR will be rethemed to Indiana Jones. Pueblo Esperanza Model While these new rides are super exciting, we have some news that some people may not be too thrilled about. Indiana Jones Over at Disneyland, Indiana Jones already has an attraction, Indiana Jones Adventure. This attraction uses the same vehicles and ride technology as DINOSAUR. While the storyline won’t be the same on this new version of the ride, the ride’s technology is not likely to change. Indiana Jones Adventure One of the biggest complaints about DINOSAUR is that the ride is very jerky and whips your head around. Many people choose not to ride the attraction due to its movement. Well, we have some bad news if you were hoping that the new Indiana Jones Ride would be smoother and less rough. DINOSAUR Since Disney already knows that Indiana Jones works well with this ride technology, it would not make sense for Disney to invest in a new track and new ride vehicles. Instead, the ride will just be re-themed. The new Tropical Americas land coming to Disney’s Animal Kingdom lets guests explore a preserved Maya temple – and the ensuing adventure – alongside Indiana Jones. Depending on the new story, the way the vehicles stop may differ slightly, but the jerkiness that people dislike is unlikely to disappear. This is likely why Disney decided Indiana Jones would be a good fit for the DINOSAUR re-theme: because they would not have to build a new show building, track, or ride vehicles. Indiana Jones in Adventureland in Disneyland While we only have concept art and a model of the outside attraction, we would not be shocked if the only changes are the theme and not the actual ride technology itself. New Indiana Jones Ride We can’t wait to get more concept art and details about this new attraction. For the time being, if you want to brave DINOSAUR one last time, you should do so soon as construction permits have already been filed for DinoLand U.S.A.’s upcoming retheme. On those hot Florida days, we often need a nice, cold, refreshing drink to cool us off. Luckily, there are lots of great options to find iced or frozen drinks around Disney World. Refreshment Station Of course, there are always the multiple Joffrey’s and Starbucks locations that you can stop by, but if you’re looking for a uniquely Disney option, you can find several refreshment kiosks around the parks. Over at EPCOT, a great place to find a frozen slushie is at the Refreshment Station near the Test Track ride. In fact, we recently stopped by the Refreshment Station for a brand new slush option that just became available! The Refreshment Station at EPCOT is open seasonally and offers a variety of frozen slush drinks, including frozen Coca-Cola and other frozen beverages. The fun thing about the Refreshment Station is that you can get a slush flavor of your choosing and then top it off with tasty candies! You can get a slush for $6.25 or choose from the variety of candies to add to it for $7. Get all the candy toppings you want! The new Minute Maid Hibiscus Lemonade Slush was recently added to the menu, so we ran over to create a yummy slush beverage to cool ourselves off from the long day in the park. Refreshment Station menu We grabbed our Hibiscus Lemonade slush and topped it with cherry red Pop Rocks and freeze-dried Skittles. This combo certainly made this a pretty drink! Other candy options that were available when we were there were a variety of gummy fish, rock candy suckers, Pop Rocks in green, blue, or red, and sugar-coated candy stripes. It was a pretty drink! Being able to add a variety of candies makes this a fun drink option for kids! We think they would enjoy getting to choose from all these candies to top their afternoon slushie, and they can top it with as much candy as they want. The flavor of the Hibiscus Lemonade slush was pretty tasty. It had a nice lemonade flavor without being too tart since the hibiscus cut it down with a subtle floral sweetness. Yummy! For $7, we liked being able to basically build our own snack, and we think that’s something kids would especially enjoy! You can also get it as just a slush without adding any candies, so that makes it a great option for those who don’t like sweet candies as much. Overall, on a hot day or if you’re just looking for something fun and refreshing, the Hibiscus Lemonade slush is a great new option at the Refreshment Station! If you are hoping to take advantage of Early Entry soon, we have an update about the attractions that are included in this benefit! Early Entry An EPCOT attraction has been removed from the Early Entry line-up, and we want to make sure you know about this change. The Beauty and the Beast Sing-Along has been taken off the list of attractions available during Early Entry. While not a complete surprise as we suspect not too many people were rushing to rope drop this attraction, we wanted to make sure our readers were aware! Beauty and the Beast Sing-Along This sing-along attraction is presented in the France pavilion, in the Palais du Cinema. The show shares the big screen with Impressions de France. Typically, the Beauty and The Beast Sing-Along runs through 6:30PM and then Impressions de France is shown in the evenings. However, you can confirm the most up to date showtimes on the My Disney Experience app. France Pavilion The Beauty and the Beast Sing-Along is a fun twist on the iconic Beauty and the Beast movie where LeFou explains that he was actually the one behind getting Belle and the Beast together. The show is filled with sing-alongs to music from the original film, as well as new scenes featuring LeFou. Beauty and the Beast Sing-Along While the attraction will no longer be available during Early Entry, you will still have plenty of time to see it during the day. The good news is that this attraction typically never has a long wait, and usually you are just waiting for the next showing to begin. If you are wanting to see the Beauty and the Beast Sing-Along, just make sure you make it to the France pavilion before the show switches over to Impressions de France in the evening. EPCOT’s France Pavilion With Early Theme Park Entry, guests can enter ANY of the four theme parks 30 minutes early each day. As long as you are staying at a Disney World resort or another participating hotel, you can take advantage of some extra time in the parks each day. Early Entry While the Beauty and the Beast Sing-Along may no longer be available for Early Entry, you still have plenty of options in EPCOT for Early Entry. The following attractions will still be available during Early Entry in EPCOT: Frozen Ever After Mission: SPACE Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure Soarin’ Around the World Spaceship Earth Test Track (currently closed for refurbishment) The Seas with Nemo & Friends Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure While we think the Beauty and the Beast Sing-Along is a super fun and entertaining show, we also have 25 other things that you should ALWAYS do in EPCOT: Make sure to stay tuned to DFB for all your Disney World news! It may not even be October yet, but that doesn’t mean we can’t start thinking about the holiday season at Disney World! Holidays in Magic Kingdom We’re excited about Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party at Magic Kingdom, Jollywood Nights at Hollywood Studios, and of course, the EPCOT Festival of the Holidays. If you’re planning a trip to Disney World for the holiday season and are looking for a way to make it even more special, this NEW backstage tour might be just the thing! This is not a drill! Disney just announced a new backstage tour coming to EPCOT for the holiday season. Each year, during the EPCOT Festival of the Holidays, the Living with the Land ride is transformed into Glimmering Greenhouses decorated with lights, ribbons, and all sorts of holiday baubles. Reindeer Mickey in Living with the Land This year, Disney is introducing Behind the Seeds: Glimmering Greenhouses! This limited-time walking tour is being offered during the festival, from November 29th to December 30th, and is $45 per person. Each tour lasts one hour and will take place at 6PM and 7PM daily. Living With The Land Holiday Edition During the tour, you’ll be able to learn about “crops that bring festive flavors to many of our holiday traditions,” enjoy those incredible light displays after dark, explore the hydroponic greenhouses, and “discover sustainable growing techniques” that Disney uses to bring these greenhouses to life. Living with the Land To book, head to the Disney World website or the My Disney Experience app. Reservations are highly recommended since each tour is limited. And, if you want to experience the regular Behind the Seeds backstage tour that normally takes place at Living with the Land — you still can! It will still be available during the day. Stockings are up Also during the Festival of the Holidays, you can enjoy enhanced offerings around EPCOT’S World Showcase (and beyond) and experience holiday traditions from various cultures as expressed through decorations, stories, music, cuisine, and additional special events. We can’t wait to see what this year’s festival will bring! Christmas lights in sand? YES! It’s always an exciting day when something NEW comes to Disney World! Disney Springs And, these days, it seems like something new is always popping up around the parks, hotels, and more — especially at Disney Springs. This shopping and dining district is one of our favorite places to visit at Disney World which doesn’t require a ticket. There are so many different places to explore — and soon, a new pop-up store will be joining the mix! If you can’t make it to Disney Springs, you’ll also be able to “find a curated assortment at select Disney Stores around the world,” so if one of those is closer to you — you might be in luck. There will also be a Pleasing pop-up at the Galleria mall in Houston, Texas. Or, you can wait until Friday, October 4th, when the entire collection drops on both the Pleasing online store and the Disney Store online! ©Pleasing We’re not quite sure just how long the Pleasing pop-up shop will stick around or where it will be, but we’ll let you know as soon as we know the details. You can shop the Pleasing store at Disney Springs daily from 10AM to 11PM! ©Pleasing We’ll be checking out this pop-up shop once it officially opens at Disney Springs so we can bring you ALL the details you need to know. We have a feeling Disney Springs will be a bit crowded this Saturday! Make sure you pack your patience if you’re planning on heading to the Pleasing pop-up shop — and don’t forget to stay tuned to the Disney Food Blog for the latest news and more updates! EPCOT Festival of the Holidays The 2024 EPCOT International Food & Wine Festival is well underway with some delicious food and drinks. We are still enjoying everything the festival has to offer (including our favorite dishes of the festival), but we also can’t help but plan for EPCOT’s next festival. The 2024 EPCOT International Festival of the Holidays will run from November 29th through December 30th. And it looks like we will again be getting some EXTRA time to enjoy the festivities. Based on the park hours on Disney World’s website and the My Disney Experience app, we will have 30 more minutes to celebrate the Festival of the Holidays each day. EPCOT is currently closing at 9PM, but beginning on November 29th, EPCOT will be open until 9:30PM. Currently, we can only see hours through December 2nd, so it is possible they could change after that. 2023 EPCOT Festival of the Holidays However, we are thinking that we will likely see EPCOT staying open until 9:30PM throughout the EPCOT International Festival of the Holidays. We have also seen this shift in park hours during previous years of Festival of the Holidays. The Thunderbolts are coming! ©Marvel Studios Over the last 15+ years, the Marvel Cinematic Universe has mined the comic book company’s intellectual property library to adapt hundreds of characters across countless films and series, including several “super-teams” including the Avengers, the Guardians of the Galaxy, and their upcoming take on Fantastic Four. Now, Marvel has dropped a trailer for the next team to get the MCU treatment: the Thunderbolts. The trailer for Thunderbolts* was released in late September 2023. The film, first announced in 2022, features an ensemble cast of characters who debuted in various other MCU projects over the years including David Harbour repairing his role as Alexei Shostakov / Red Guardian from Black Widow, Hannah John-Kamen as Ava Starr / Ghost from Ant-Man & The Wasp, Sebastian Stan as Bucky Barnes/Winter Soldier from various Captain America and Avengers projects, Wyatt Russell as John Walker / U.S. Agent from The Falcon & The Winter Soldier, Julia Louis-Dreyfus as Valentina Allegra de Fontaine from several Disney+ series, Olga Kurylenko as Antonia Dreykov / Taskmaster from Black Widow, and Florence Pugh as Yelena Belova, who took over the mantle of Black Widow in that film, and appeared in Hawkeye. In addition, actor Lewis Pullman will be debuting in the film as an interpretation of Marvel character Sentry. The Thunderbolts name debuted in 1997. Initially introduced as a team of new heroes, the series’ first issue ended in a shocking twist that revealed these “new” heroes were actually a group of villains in disguise, led by Baron Zemo (who has appeared in the Marvel Cinematic Universe as portrayed by Daniel Brühl). Over the years, the team has had various rosters including heroic and villainous characters, usually acting as anti-heroes. ©Marvel Directed by Jake Schreier, the film is scheduled for release on May 2nd, 2025. The film’s official title includes an asterisk (stylized as Thunderbolts*) which some have speculated implies that there may be a twist in the film that mimics the team’s comic book history, or at the very least indicates that there’s more to the title that will be revealed with the film. Marvel Studios’ Thunderbolts* is scheduled for release on May 2nd, 2025. As of now, the film is on pace to be the second of three theatrically related Marvel Studios projects in 2025, following February’s Captain America: Brave New World and preceding July’s Fantastic Four. A Disney World store is set to reopen soon — or is it? Candy Cauldron We often see stores, rides, and even restaurants close for the occasional bit of necessary refurbishment, like the Candy Cauldron at Disney Springs. This haven for sugar fiends has been closed since August and we thought we had seen the light at the end of the tunnel coming up, but it turns out we may have been wrong after all. The Disney World calendar may show that Candy Cauldron is reopening on September 24th, but we’re not too confident that will actually be the case. In anticipation of this sweet spot’s reopening, we’ve been keeping an eye on the calendar to get an idea of when we might be able to shop here again, and in the process, we noticed something rather odd. Candy Cauldron When Candy Cauldron first closed for a temporary refurbishment at the beginning of August, Disney didn’t share a reopening date. But, we eventually did see operating hours pop up on the Disney World website — only for them to change multiple times. Candy Cauldron In early September, it looked like Candy Cauldron was set to reopen on September 18th — and we rejoiced! But not too long after we saw that update, the opening date kept getting pushed back. First, we saw the hours pushed back to September 20th, then September 27th. Candy Cauldron As of now, though, the Disney World website is showing operating hours for Candy Cauldron tomorrow, September 24th from 10AM to 11PM. So, is this store really opening back up tomorrow? Only time will tell, but you can bet we’ll be in Disney Springs to scope everything out and keep you in the loop! Hopefully she’ll still be there to scare us Luckily, there is no shortage of other places to get candy and sweet treats at Disney Springs! Consider stopping by Goofy’s Candy Co., the M&M’s Store, or even the Ganachery to get your sugar fix. In the meantime, we’ll be on the lookout for the latest updates from Candy Cauldron and the rest of Disney World. Make sure you stay tuned to the Disney Food Blog so you don’t miss any of the latest news! There’s a NEW Menu Item at Everyone’s Favorite EPCOT Spot Planning a Trip to Disney World? Of all the parks in Disney World, when it comes to eating and drinking, EPCOT could be one of our favorite places to visit. EPCOT That’s because you can literally take a trip around the world (or at least to 11 countries) over the course of a day (or a few hours if you’re feeling ambitious) and you can drink around the world, grabbing cocktails and liquors from each country. But forget that. We’ve got a better idea (okay, this was actually an idea from one of our readers). Instead of drinking around the world, let’s SNACK around the world instead! So when we say snack, we’re not referring to snacks you can get at the quick-service locations in EPCOT’s World Showcase. Instead, we’re talking about pre-packaged snacks you can buy from each country either to eat then and there or to take home later. It’s a great way to pick up some treats that are common in the actual countries each EPCOT pavilion represents. So here we go! Mexico We’re just going to start in Mexico because drinking around the world means we often “turn left” when we get to World Showcase (#sorrynotsorry). Did you know you could buy actual Mexican brand candy bars in this pavilion? Like who could turn down a chance to try chocolate from around the world? We’ve also seen Tequila Candy for those of you who still want to drink around the world but with candy. Tequila candy See? Isn’t this fun already? Well, we’ve got more pavilions to go. Granted, not EVERY pavilion has specialty snacks like this, but we’re hitting the ones that do. “THIS. WAS. SO. GOOD!” Why You Should RUN to the Mexico Pavilion in EPCOT IMMEDIATELY Norway Keep going left to visit the trolls (including that giant one in the gift shop). Now, we usually just grab School Bread here, but you can also get some tasty packaged treats, including Stroopwafels, those skinny little caramel-loaded snacks that we could eat our weight in. We’ve also found some delicious ginger snaps, chocolates, and OF COURSE, Swedish Fish. Japp Candy Bar from Norway Pavilion If you’re into fish, you can also get some Sardines in cans because why not? We think we’ll stick with the Stroopwafels and chocolate. 4 Things You Should NEVER Do at EPCOT, According to the Experts China Okay, buckle up, because if you want snacks, CHINA is full of them. You’ll want to head straight to House of Good Fortune, where you can find every kind of Lay’s potato chip flavor you’ve ever thought of (and many you haven’t). Beef Wellington Chips? Yep, they’ve got them. Octopus Meatball Chips. You’ll find them on a shelf. Sesame Hot Pot Sauce Chips? Yep, they exist. Beef Wellington chips This is a great place to try some new things, so GO FOR IT. You might be surprised at how much you like some of these flavors! Wait. This Secret EPCOT China Pavilion Treat Tastes Oddly Similar to a Popular New Starbucks Drink Germany Okay, this one is an easy one because the Germany Pavilion is all about Werther’s Caramels at Karamel-Kuche, so you can bring bags of Werther’s Caramels home with you (along with that Werther’s Caramel Popcorn). You’ll often find some candy flavors you won’t find anywhere else, too. So grab ALL of them. Pumpkin Spice Werther’s Caramels While you’re at it, though, just go ahead and grab something from the case, too: trust us, you’ll love it. STEP BY STEP PHOTOS: Copycat Gingerbread Cookie Sandwich Recipe From Karamell-Küche in Disney World Italy So we don’t usually buy candy when we visit Italy, but we do occasionally grab a bottle of Limoncello to take home because you can get the good stuff here! It makes for a great gift, but you can also just take it home to make your own Limoncello cocktails. Limoncello You’ll also find Italian chocolates and we’ve even seen the pre-packaged Panettone (it’s an Italian sweetbread/cake) here. EVERY. SINGLE. Drink You Should Avoid at EPCOT Right Now Japan Yes, we skipped the American Adventure Pavilion because we RAN to Japan, which has Mitsukoshi, a massive department store where you can buy EVERY kind of Japanese snack you can think of, including Pocky flavors you can’t find anywhere else PLUS Ramune soda. We’re big fans of the flavored Kit Kats, but you can also get some great Mochi here. Matcha Kit Kat Remember how we talked about fun chip flavors in China? Well, Japan has one of our favorites, Pizza Chips — it’s hard to describe just how delicious these chips are, but buy a bag for yourself and see. I Was Today Years Old When I Learned THIS from EPCOT’s Japan Pavilion France Yes, we skipped Morocco, too, because there aren’t any pre-packaged snacks in this pavilion right now, although we have seen Turkish Delight there in the past. However, over in France, you’ll find lots of French candies, including chocolates, lollipops, and more. You’ll find a TON of Maxim’s boxed chocolates. Maxim’s Boxed Chocolates We won’t lie — we’ll probably be heading over to Les Halles to pick up some goodies or go enjoy a cold treat at L’Artisan des Glaces. However, we’ll also grab some Brets Chips in a variety of flavors to take home with us. The HIDDEN Makeover Experience in the France Pavilion of EPCOT U.K. The U.K. Pavilion is a great spot to pick up some candy from the United Kingdom you can buy Cadbury treats, but you can also get Jammie Dodgers, which we LOVE — we’re hoping to see more flavors pop up soon. Jammie Dodgers Another fave of ours are the Butler’s Chocolates from Ireland, made with Irish spirits and liqueurs. Yep, boozy chocolates FOR THE WIN. Test Your UK Knowledge with a Quiz We Found in Disney World Today! Canada Well, we’ve made it around the world and we’re at our final stop, Canada! Now, don’t sell Canada short because there are some good snacks to be found here and we’re not just talking about the Maple Popcorn. We will be picking up some Maple Sugar, though, because it’s good on SO many things. Maple Sugar? Oh, yes. Let’s talk about the Coffee Crisp Candy Bars, though, because they are SO GOOD. Apparently, it’s one of the most popular candy bars in Canada, and that makes sense to us! The NEW Reason You’ll Want To Start in Canada in EPCOT So there’s a NEW kind of tour you can take through EPCOT’s World Showcase. We hope your snack-filled dreams come true soon. Stay tuned to DFB for more. REVIEW: Should You Eat at EPCOT’s Most BASIC World Showcase Restaurant? We’re Weighing In. Join the DFB Newsletter to get all the breaking news right in your inbox! ALERT: Three Disney World Parks Launch 3 CHANGES
Disney4me posted a topic in Disney Food/Restaurants
Extra, extra, read all about it! Seriously, we’re sure Disney World hasn’t had a wink of sleep because it has dropped so many new updates this week. If you’ve missed out, this is your chance to catch up! Cinderella Castle I’m back again with another round of WHAT’S NEW UPDATES AT DISNEY WORLD, a rundown on all the epic news and updates that happened at Disney World this past week. This week, we got the 4-1-1 on a RARE character you can now meet at EPCOT, details REVEALED for a special event at Hollywood Studios, and a NEW menu for a popular Magic Kingdom restaurant! Are y’all ready? Okay, let’s go! A RARE Pixar Character Is in EPCOT for a Limited Time! It’s Hispanic & Latin American Heritage Month, and that means there are dozens of delicious treats to try around Disney World, as well as some special entertainment and offerings. We stopped by EPCOT recently to check out one of those limited-time celebrations! EPCOT If you’ve ever walked past the Mexico Pavilion, you may have encountered the incredibly talented band Mariachi Cobre. They’re a group of singers and musicians who perform traditional Mexican tunes as well as Disney songs. Mariachi Cobre Well, if you stop by one of their shows from September 15th to October 15th, you’ll notice that they’re celebrating “Together we are Magia!” The pavilion they perform under has some seasonal decorations, and the show includes a special guest… Look who stopped by! …that’s right, Miguel from Pixar’s Coco is in the show! He stopped by for a few minutes and took some time to say hello to the crowd, then hung out with the band as they performed songs from his movie. Hey Miguel! This is currently the only place you can see or meet Miguel in EPCOT. What a fun addition for the next few weeks! Mariachi Cobre with Miguel We’re excited about all the offerings available throughout Disney World during Hispanic & Latin American Heritage Month! Click Here to See the Full List of New Snacks! NEW Details Revealed for Disney’s Jollywood Nights at Hollywood Studios Although we’re well into Halloween season in Disney World and Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party is underway, we’re starting to look forward to the holiday season in Disney World. Jollywood Nights 2024 — ©Disney Why wouldn’t we? The holidays bring some of the BEST treats of the year PLUS the EPCOT Festival of the Holidays. We also get to go to Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party. Perhaps the holiday event we’re most excited about this year, though, is Jollywood Nights, which is returning to Disney’s Hollywood Studios for its second year. Disney has already revealed some details about this year’s parties, but we now have even MORE details to share! Jollywood Nights is a separately ticketed event that takes place on select nights in Hollywood Studios from November 9th through December 21st. The event combines classic Hollywood with the holidays and offers exclusive snacks, entertainment, merchandise, character meet and greets, and more. We went to the first Jollywood Nights last year and were excited when Disney announced it would return this year! Phineas and Ferb at Jollywood Nights in 2023 This year’s party is going to be even bigger, and Disney has previously announced some new things coming to the event. Now, though, we’ve got more details. Perhaps the most exciting event is Glisten, a brand new experience. It’s an ice skating show that will be performed on Hollywood Boulevard. YES! Several times each evening, you’ll get to watch international champion skaters in “glitzy costumes” performing routines to holiday songs and Disney favorites. We can’t WAIT! If that isn’t enough to get you stoked, we also got some more details about a new dance party starring all your favorite Pixar characters that will be coming to this year’s Jollywood Nights. You’ll get to join Joy, Frozone, Edna Mode, and other Pixar characters on the dance floor. ©Disney New characters are coming to this year’s Jollywood Nights, too. Head on over to Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge to spot The Mandalorian or pop into Toy Story Land to grab some photos with Bo peep and Lotso. Phineas and Ferb will be returning this year, along with Santa Stitch and Santa Duffy. The Mandalorian You’ll also get a snack as a parting gift as you leave the party: six champagne flavored Wondermade marshmallows in a special Kermit the Frog and Miss Piggy box. How fun! Also, we’d go for the marshmallows alone — they are AMAZING. ©Disney Of course, some things are returning this year, including Disney Holidays in Hollywood hosted by Kermit the Frog and miss Piggy. You’ll be in for a spectacular show with appearance from Tiana, Belle, Minnie, Mickey, and more. You’ll also be able to catch The Nightmare Before Christmas Sing-along that will include surprise character appearances. What’s This? Jingle Bell Jingle BAM Of course, there will be plenty of exclusive festive snacks to eat, too, including the returning Christmas Gertie Cookie, Chicken Empanadas with Street Corn, the Meatball and Polenta, and more. Gertie cookie at last year’s event So if that all sounds good, book those tickets for Jollywood Nights NOW while they’re still available! Disney Drops FIRST LOOK At Exclusive Jollywood Nights Merchandise REVIEW: A Popular Magic Kingdom Restaurant Just Got a Menu OVERHAUL A popular Magic Kingdom restaurant just got a menu makeover! Pecos Bill Tall Tale Inn and Cafe Disney World’s Pecos Bill Tall Tale Inn and Cafe in Frontierland is home to all kinds of Southwestern-inspired dishes, making it a popular stop among many Magic Kingdom visitors. Well, the restaurant is looking a little different these days, having introduced SEVERAL new items to its menu. We stopped by to review the new offerings and the results were kind of surprising! The counters inside Joining the Pecos Bill Tall Tale Inn and Cafe menu are the Steamed Tamale, Rice Bowl, Double Chili con Queso Burger, Southwest Caesar Salad, Barbecue-Cheddar Seasoned Fries, Mexican Chocolate and Horchata Verrine, and Sweet Corn Mousse. Some of these really stood out while others slightly missed the mark, so, without further ado, let’s jump right in! Pecos Bill Tall Tale Inn and Cafe spread We started with the Barbecue-Cheddar Seasoned Fries for $4.99. On first look, these were offputting but we were pleasantly surprised! We’re happy to report that these fries are pretty good. Barbecue-Cheddar Seasoned Fries Next, we opted for the Southwest Caesar Salad for $12.99. This salad is made with romaine tossed in creamy salsa verde dressing, pepitas, queso fresco, pico de gallo, and tortilla strips. For the choice of protein, we went with pork. Southwest Caesar Salad with pork Our pico was nice and fresh and we’re big fans of the crumbly cheese on top. We definitely recommend trying this if you’re a big salad fan. We’re big fans of this salad The Rice Bowl also costs $12.99 and we got ours with beef. This dish is served with pinto beans, cilantro-lime rice, cowboy caviar, and queso fresco. Rice Bowl This bowl is solid. Our beef had something akin to a honey chipotle glaze with a bit of a kick but nothing too spicy. This bad boy is also sizeable and the price is fair for what you’re getting. Super filling! We got our Steamed Tamale with chicken for $12.99 as well. This is a steamed green chili-cheese tamale with stewed pinto beans, queso fresco, and pico de gallo. Steamed Tamale This dish comes with a side of beans and rice, which is a nice touch. Our tamale was so soft that we actually recommend grabbing a spoon for this, just in case. As for the taste, this tamale has a bit of kick thanks to the peppers on the inside, so be ready for that before purchasing. We got ours with chicken but you can customize it with a different protein We got our Double Chili con Queso Burger served with a side of beans (ours was initially served with fries but the Cast Members made it right). Made with two flame-broiled all-beef patties topped with chili con carne, chipotle queso, and corn chips for $16.49. Double Chili con Queso Burger This burger is huge. It’s a double-patty burger with a queso sauce and some extra crunch from the corn chips, but it has some issues. There’s almost too much going on here. The flavor at its core is good, but it seems out of place on this menu. It’s definitely hearty The beans, however, get two thumbs up from us. They’re kind of jazzed up pinto beans with some peppers, a hint of pico, and a smidge of cilantro. They aren’t super special, but they certainly are elevated beans and we’re glad we got them! Side of beans Finally, let’s talk dessert. We tried the Mexican Chocolate and Horchata Verrine for $5.49 and Sweet Corn Mousse for $6.29. Mexican Chocolate and Horchata Verrine and Sweet Corn Mousse The Sweet Corn Mouse is a fun, cute, and picturesque dessert, but it is simple in taste. CORN! The Mexican Chocolate and Horchata Verrine is a bit of an enigma. We think it was okay but doesn’t live up to its potential. The ingredients and base here are solid, but the chocolate is overpowering and does a disservice to the horchata, which gets lost in this dessert. Mexican Chocolate and Horchata Verrine We love trying new dishes and this was a fun change to Pecos Bill Tall Inn & Cafe! Read our full review for more details! It’s almost October in Disney World, and that means we can all celebrate as it drops a few degrees in temperature! Magic Kingdom It also means that the month of Halloween will officially arrive, even though Disney World has been celebrating since August. We can’t wait for next month to hit, but for those of you taking a trip next month, there are a few things you need to know about before you step into the parks. Namely, some mistakes we don’t want you to make! Going to Magic Kingdom on a Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party Night While going to Magic Kingdom on a party night can be great, since it means lower crowds typically during the day, it’s NOT fun if you planned your day not knowing it, because it means the park closes at 6PM. Halloween in Disney World If a party night is your only day in Magic Kingdom, it means you won’t get to see the Happily Ever After fireworks, ride any attraction when it’s dark, or get to spend a TRUE full day in Magic Kingdom since you’ll be cutting it about 3 hours short. Again, if you’ve planned it this way so you can experience lower crowds and have chosen to just cram it all into a shorter day, that’s great! But don’t be caught off guard — check those party dates ahead of time. Here’s everything you need to know about Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party! Not Expecting The Larger Crowds at EPCOT and Hollywood Studios AFTER Magic Kingdom Closes Speaking of party nights, since it’s a really big draw for families in the month of October, you’ll also want to be aware of the larger crowds that are going to descend upon EPCOT and Hollywood Studios when Magic Kingdom closes at 6PM for regular guests. Hollywood Tower Hotel Many guests won’t be ready to call it a night just yet, so if they’ve got a park hopper ticket, they’ll head over to one of the parks that are still open to let the fun continue. This means that if you’ve been in EPCOT or Hollywood Studios all day, you’ll want to ride those big attractions on party nights EARLIER than 6PM just to play it safe. Or else, it’s likely you’ll see those wait times jump back up again. The Sneaky Reason You Should Book an 8PM Reservation for These EPCOT Restaurants Thinking You Can Buy Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party Tickets At The Gate/On The Same Day Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party is a MASSIVE event in Disney World each year. Many families/ Disney World fans come down JUST for the party, or travel at this time of year so they can buy tickets and experience it. This means though that tickets often sell out WEEKS in advance for many party dates, so buying them on the day of the event is very rare. Magic Kingdom during Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party We’ve seen it happen before, yes, but more often times than not, you’ll walk up to Magic Kingdom and see a sign that says tickets are all sold out for that evening. So PLEASE don’t make the mistake of not grabbing them weeks in advance just because you think they’ll be available the day of! We’re so sorry to say this, but you’ll be in for a world of disappointment. Full List of SOLD OUT Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party Dates in Magic Kingdom Planning on Riding Test Track A lot of construction is planned for Disney World in the coming months, but a lot of it won’t really begin until next year. However, over in EPCOT, one ride has been closed for months to prepare for a massive transformation coming in 2025. That’s right — Test Track won’t be available on your October must-do list. A re-imaged version of Test Track attraction will open at EPCOT in 2025. Test Track is currently undergoing a major retheme/transformation that will bring it back closer to its original version, World of Motion. We aren’t entirely sure what this will look like just yet, but from Disney’s concept art, we’re looking forward to it! Learn all about the Test Track reimagining here! Everything POPS! Pop Century Resort Disney’s Pop Century Resort is one of our favorite hotels at Disney World. The value resort, which opened in 2003, is themed to the pop culture of the second half of the 20th century. Its buildings are themed to films, fads, and everything in between from the 1950s through the 1990s. DISCLOSURE: This post may contain affiliate links, meaning when you click the links and make a purchase, we receive a commission. Considering Amazon Prime? Have a free trial: If you’re staying at Pop Century anytime soon, these are the shirts you should be packing. Hang Loose with Eeyore ©Amazon Let’s start with a shirt that screams 1960s thanks to the psychedelic artwork, and “Bother Free” motto that ironically clashes with the perennially bothered Eeyore. Plus, the Disney versions of the iconic Pooh characters were introduced in the 60s, which makes the shirt even more appropriate. VIEW ON AMAZON Get Groovy with Mickey… ©Amazon Moving on to the 1970s, we’ve got the Big Cheese himself surrounded by flowers and smiling suns reminiscent of the Disco decade. VIEW ON AMAZON … or Party with Minnie! ©Amazon If you’d rather channel the 70s with Mickey’s better half, there’s this “Stay Groovy” tee featuring Minnie Mouse herself. VIEW ON AMAZON 80s Babies, this Shirt is For You ©Amazon If you were “Made in the 80s”, this is the shirt for you. Mickey and Minnie being decked out in peak New Wave fashion definitely helps. VIEW ON AMAZON A More Simplistic 80s Look ©Amazon If you’re an 80s baby but think “Made in the 80s” is a bit too on the nose, you can also get this tee simply featuring Mickey and Minnie in their 80s best with no distracting text. VIEW ON AMAZON Mickey & the Gang 90s Style ©Amazon Get ready to party like it’s 1994 with Mickey, Donald, Goofy, and Pluto with some of the most explosively 90s graphics you can imagine. (Don’t let the fact that all four of those characters were approximately 60 years old in the 1990s distract you) VIEW ON AMAZON You’ve Got a Friend in (This) Tee ©Amazon Finally, if you want to rep the 1990s with a character actually from the 1990s, there’s arguably none better than the Genie from Aladdin. A Disney Springs restaurant just debuted a handful of NEW menu items! Disney Springs Chef Art Smith’s Homecomin’ is a popular Disney Springs restaurant that features some down-home cooking inspired by Florida’s freshest flavors. Homecomin’ is a favorite here at Disney Food Blog, so we had to stop by to try out some of the new dishes. Chef Art Smith’s Homecomin’ is located in The Landing section of Disney Springs. You will find this restaurant nestled by the water in between STK Steakhouse and Morimoto Asia. Homecomin’ celebrates Southern and Floridian cuisine and “farm-to-fork” food in a cozy atmosphere. When we saw that the restaurant was debuting some new menu items, we knew that was a sign we should stop by again! Atmosphere The atmosphere at Chef Art Smith’s Homecomin’ is rustic yet modern, with lots of cozy charm. The staff is warm and inviting and they make you feel at home. Chef Art Smith’s Homecomin’ There are lots of wooden features mixed with metallic accents. There is plenty of warm lighting that lends itself well to the cozy and welcoming atmosphere. You can even spot a collection of plates behind the host station. You may recognize a few names, including Jodi Benson and Angela Bassett. Plus you might spot a pretty famous mouse! Chef Art Smith’s Homecomin’ If you look up to your right when you first walk in, you can also spot a beautiful mural above the open kitchen. Chef Art Smith’s Homecomin’ The warmth continues into the seating areas, which feature lots of wood and fabric chairs. There are a variety of table options, including bar seating. The restaurant is very open, so you can see across most of it from wherever you are seated. Chef Art Smith’s Homecomin’ In addition to a variety of indoor seating options, there is also a large outdoor dining area. Outdoor Dining Area Now, let’s take a look at the menu! Menu Chef Art Smith’s Homecomin’ just added SEVEN new eats and drinks to their menu, so you know we had to go and check some of them out! The following items joined the menu on August 28th, 2024: Meatloaf Main Plate, 1981 Salad, Smothered Chicken, Meatloaf Sandwich, The Honeybee, Cowboy Colada, and Dragon Fruit Mojito. The restaurant boasts a large menu full of dishes inspired by Florida’s freshest flavors and lots of Southern comfort. You can choose from a variety of starters and salads, including the new 1981 Salad. ©Disney If you are in a sandwich mood, there are plenty of options to choose from, including a Fried Chicken Sandwich and the new Meatloaf Sandwich. ©Disney There are also LOTS of options for main plates including Art’s Famous Fried Chicken, the new Meatloaf Main Plate, and the new Smothered Chicken. You can also get Fried Chicken and Doughnuts, Shrimp & Grits, or St. Augustine Mahi-Mahi. ©Disney Homecomin’ has a menu full of Southern comfort sides as well as various dessert options including Chocolate Pecan Pie and Shine Cake. ©Disney There are also options for the kiddos, including Fish Sticks and a Fried Chicken Sandwich. ©Disney Not only does Homecomin’ have a large menu of food, but the beverage section is even more extensive. You can choose from six different shines on tap. ©Disney And you can also choose from a variety of cold cans. ©Disney The restaurant also has plenty of craft cocktails to choose from, including the new Dragon Fruit Mojito, Cowboy Colada, and The Honeybee. ©Disney There are also four options in the cocktails with perks section. ©Disney But that is not all; you can also choose from a large list of red wines… ©Disney …white wines… ©Disney …as well as American Whiskey, Bourbon, and Rye flights. ©Disney Or, if you would rather choose some alcohol by the glass, Homecomin’ has an extensive list of Whiskey, Bourbon, and Rye by the glass. ©Disney There is also lots of Southern Shine available by the glass. ©Disney There is no shortage of options at Chef Art Smith’s Homecomin’, so let’s get to the food and drinks! Drinks Now, let’s dive into what we ordered! Full Spread To start out, we ordered a new drink called The Honeybee. This drink is made with Tom Cat Gin, honey syrup and fresh squeezed lemon topped with house-made honey foam and costs $16. The Honeybee This drink had LOTS of lemon flavor, but the subtle honey flavor did a great job of balancing out the tart lemon flavor. The Honeybee has a hint of sweetness, but it doesn’t taste like you are drinking liquid sugar. The gin can be easily tasted in this beverage which worked really well with the strong lemon flavor and notes of honey. We think this drink is a great sipping drink that tastes super bright and balanced. It is sweet enough if you like sweet drinks, but not overloaded with sugar by any means. The Honeybee Now, onto the food! Eats For our meal, we started off with the new 1981 Salad. This salad contains honey ham, roasted artichoke, tomato, Swiss cheese, and Spanish olives with chopped romaine and spring mix lettuce. The dressing is made with Worcestershire, lemon juice, olive oil, garlic, and vinegar, which is Chef Art’s nod to the Tampa classic. You can get this salad for $20. 1981 Salad We were super impressed with this salad! All of the ingredients tasted incredibly fresh and it was LOADED. This salad would definitely be enough for a full meal. We thought all of the ingredients worked really well together and the dressing was delicious. The dressing was light, but packed lots of acidity, freshness, and flavor. It was the perfect dressing for the salad and we found that we couldn’t get enough of this salad. 1981 Salad The honey ham and Swiss cheese were sliced in thin strips which was perfect for constructing the perfect bite. The olives lend a great flavor that adds complexity to the salad and the tomatoes added a lovely sweetness. The lettuce was crunchy and fresh. We are starting off our meal very strong, so let’s move on to the next dish! 1981 Salad Next up, we tried the new Meatloaf Main Plate. This dish includes house-made meatloaf served with creamy mashed potatoes, Southern green beans, and a cheddar drop biscuit. The meatloaf costs $30. We were surprised with the amount of flavor that was packed into the meatloaf. If you are used to bland, cardboard-tasting meatloaf, your tastebuds will be pleasantly surprised by this dish. The meatloaf has a hint of spice to it, but we would not consider it to be a spicy dish. We tasted a lot of ketchup flavor in the meatloaf, but it was balanced with lots of herbs. The herbs added lots of depth to the flavor. The meatloaf was a great texture without being too dry. Meatloaf Main Plate The mashed potatoes were exactly what you might expect, filled with lots of butter! These mashed potatoes were full of potato and buttery goodness. The gravy is super creamy with a slight spice to it that paired perfectly with the buttery potatoes. Our waitress recommended we get the gravy on the side because it can be a bit spicy for some people. That way you can control how much gravy goes on your potatoes. Meatloaf Main Plate The green beans were super soft with a bit of a smoky flavor to them with bacon mixed in. We really enjoyed that they weren’t super oily or covered in sauce, so you could really taste the flavor of the green beans. The biscuits are delicious! They are a cheesy, buttery, herby dream, and we could probably survive off of these guys. Definitely a star in the form of a side. Meatloaf Main Plate Finally, we also grabbed some of Art’s Famous Fried Chicken. The restaurant is known for this dish! Art’s Famous Fried Chicken is buttermilk-brined for 24 hours then perfectly fried and served with creamy mashed potatoes, a cheddar drop biscuit and love. You can grab this famous dish for $34. Art’s Famous Fried Chicken There is definitely a reason why the restaurant is known for this dish, because it is taaaasty! The chicken is juicy on the inside, yet crispy on the outside. While the breading itself doesn’t have a whole lot of flavor to it, the gravy is the perfect dipping sauce for the chicken. Art’s Famous Fried Chicken The mashed potatoes and cheddar drop biscuit are the same as what was served on the Meatloaf Main Plate dish. The mashed potatoes are buttery and full of potato flavor, and we could likely survive on the cheddar drop biscuits alone. The sides come together to form a VERY filling meal that will leave you feeling satisfied. If you are looking for some yummy fried chicken, look no further, Chef Art Smith’s Homecomin’ is the restaurant for you! Art’s Famous Fried Chicken We enjoyed everything we had at Chef Art Smith’s Homecomin’, and we know we will definitely be coming back to this restaurant again and again. Overall Chef Art Smith’s Homecomin’ did it again! We have been fans of the restaurant for a while, and this meal was no exception. We really enjoyed everything we tried, and it was hard to pick a favorite. We have consistently been impressed by all the food we have tried at Homecomin’, and the new dishes they introduce occasionally have also been wonderful. We love the Southern charm that the restaurant has and we thought that the service was fantastic. The staff are attentive, friendly, and helpful, and we always love our experience here. Be ready for lots of food and bring a hungry belly! But most of all, be ready for some delicious dining with a cozy atmosphere that will make you feel right at home. Nosh or Not? We think you should make a stop by Homecomin’ if… You want some Southern comfort food. This restaurant SHINES in this category! Expect Southern classics with Florida inspired flavors. There are lots of options and you are sure to leave feeling full and happy. You want a cozy atmosphere, friendly service, and delicious food. We always feel at home while at Homecomin’. The atmosphere is rustic, yet modern, and the staff has always been wonderful. Plus, the food is amazing! You want a large selection of alcoholic beverages. Homecomin’ has an extensive menu of alcohol. Whether you are looking for a craft cocktail, wine, Southern Shine, or liquor by the glass, Homecomin’ has lots of options. You may want to opt for a different restaurant if… You want lots of healthy options. While the food at Homecomin’ is delicious, it probably won’t be a good option if you are hoping to have a menu full of healthy options. There is LOTS of butter in most of the dishes here, although there are some lighter options. However, a majority of dishes are hearty. You are looking for a quick bite with small portions. Homecomin’ is a sit-down restaurant, so expect to spend a bit of time for your meal. If you want a quick snack or a fast meal, you will probably want to stop somewhere else. The portions at Homecomin’ are pretty large, and you will need a bit of time to have your meal here. There are lots of great quick service options in Disney Springs if you want a quick, smaller bite to eat. You don’t like Southern food. Homecomin’ excels in Southern cooking, and while you might be able to find something that interests you, if Southern food isn’t your thing, Homecomin’ may not be the place for you. Overall, we thoroughly enjoyed our time at Chef Art Smith’s Homecomin’ once again! We always jump at the chance to eat at Homecomin’ again and our meal did not disappoint.
