  1. It’s almost October, and that means Halloween is ACTUALLY almost here! The TTC in Disney World We’ve been loving seeing the Halloween decorations and festivities over at Disney World and Disneyland Resort, and we’re excited for the cool fall weather to continue rolling in. If you’re visiting Disney World this upcoming month, we do need to warn you that there are two rides that won’t be open at different times throughout the 31 days. Sorry to all you Jungle Cruise fans, but Jungle Cruise will be closed until October 18th in Magic Kingdom. The ride has been undergoing maintenance for weeks now, and while we’re excited to see this classic Disney attraction open again, we are bummed it’ll be closed for the majority of the month. Jungle Cruise However, if you’ll be in the park the second half of the month, you’ll be able to see the backside of water once again. Jungle Cruise The only other planned closure this month is over in EPCOT. Yep, that’s right, it’s Test Track. Test Track This beloved attraction is undergoing a MASSIVE retheme that will bring it closer to its original version, World of Motion. Many Disney fans are extremely excited about this change, and we are too! While we don’t have an official reopening timeline for Test Track just yet, we do know it’s planned to open in 2025, so we have at LEAST a few more months without this popular ride. A re-imaged version of Test Track attraction will open at EPCOT in 2025. Looking for more recent Disney World news? Check out our posts below! More Recent Disney World News! 2. It’s Halloween season, and Disney World is in the spooky swing of things! Halloween in Magic Kingdom We’ve already been to Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party and shopped a plethora of seasonal merchandise in the stores, and we’ve even tried several spooky snacks in the past several weeks. But Disney will be continuing these celebrations until Halloween! And today, we got a NEW Halloween collectible in the parks. During our most recent visit to EPCOT, we spotted this Mickey and friends Halloween popcorn bucket at the popcorn cart in World Celebration. How cute is this?! It’s so cute! It features several Disney Halloween icons, including the Headless Horseman and Minnie, Daisy, and Clarabelle Cow dressed as the Sanderson Sisters. There are little jack-o-lanterns spread throughout the design. The Haunted Mansion is even featured! Huey, Dewey, and Louie After our visit to EPCOT, we also spotted this new bucket at Magic Kingdom. It’s available for $13, which is the same price as the other basic buckets. (Much cheaper than those specially-shaped ones!) Who else loves popcorn buckets? Popcorn buckets have been a popular souvenir for years! With these buckets, you can take them to any popcorn cart and get a popcorn “refill” for a cheaper price than if you bought the popcorn outright every time. They’re a great investment for people who come to the parks often or who love Disney popcorn. World Celebration Popcorn Stand If you’re interested in more Disney Halloween souvenirs, they’ve got the seasonal collection in several gift shops around the property as well as online at the Disney Store! If you make it out of Disney World without going over your souvenir budget this time of year, you deserve a pat on the back. Stay tuned to DFB for more Disney World news and updates! 3. If there’s one thing that Disney World does well, it’s a themed dining location! Grand Floridian Lobby From lightly-themed lounges to restaurants that feel like you’ve walked straight into your favorite movie franchise, there are SO many themed places to dine around Disney World. And some of them are located in unexpected places! If you’re a Beauty and the Beast fan, you may know all about the dining offerings like Be Our Guest and Gaston’s Tavern in Magic Kingdom, but did you know about a stunningly themed spot just outside of the park? Atmosphere Recently, we headed to Enchanted Rose Lounge at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort for a light bite and a few drinks, and we want to take you along with us! This Beauty and the Beast-themed bar and lounge is located on the second floor of the resort’s main building. Let’s go inside! There are lots of stunning decor elements and subtle nods to the live-action Beauty and the Beast film in here. For example, this beautiful chandelier in the bar area is made to be a reference to Belle’s ball gown. Bar area Outside of the bar room, there are a few places to sit in this lounge. Perhaps the most popular is the library room, which features ample seating in the form of cozy chairs or high-top tables. The Library There are shelves upon shelves of books all around, and if you look closely, you may find some hidden details within those shelves. Seating They’ve also got some of their more expensive wines on display in this room, and there are a few tables for slightly larger parties. More Library On the other side of the bar, you’ll find a room inspired by the enchanted forest. This one is painted in shades of green and has large pieces of detailed artwork on the walls. Forest room If you’d prefer to sit outside, there’s a small balcony area off of the enchanted forest room. There are a few lounge-style places to sit out here. Balcony And remember those hidden details we told you about? Well, we won’t spoil their locations, but the next time you’re visiting Enchanted Rose, make sure to look out for some familiar faces…or pieces of furniture, maybe we should say. Does this look like someone you know? Cogsworth Some favorite friends like Cogsworth, Lumiere, Mrs. Potts, and more are hiding throughout the lounge area. See who you can find! Mrs. Potts! Now on to the food! Menu Let’s take a look at the menu for Enchanted Rose! Here, they serve light snacks starting at 3:30PM when they open, but the kitchen opens to serve the full list of appetizers at 5PM. Since it’s a lounge, these will be smaller plates — great for ordering multiple and sharing with friends. ©Disney There are a number of featured cocktails inspired by Beauty and the Beast that Enchanted Rose is known for. ©Disney They also serve a selection of grand cocktails, which are the lounge’s take on several classic drinks. ©Disney For other beverages, check out the martini menu, or the extensive list of wines, champagnes, beers, and ciders. ©Disney Prefer mocktails over cocktails? They’ve got a list for you too! The beverages without alcohol menu includes a few mocktails as well as some coffee and tea options. ©Disney Now that we’ve got the full scope of the menu, let’s dive into what we ordered! Eats We just took a quick visit to the lounge, so we ended up with two beverages and a snack. Starting out, we got the Manhattan for $26.50. This is made with Whistle Pig 10yr Straight Rye Whiskey, Carpano Antica Formula Sweet Vermouth, Angostura bitters, and orange bitters. Manhattan For the price, we think you can find other Manhattans in Disney World that are better. This is quite strong and you get that punch of orange flavor from the bitters. It’s a good drink for someone who wants a heavy whiskey flavor, but for nearly $27, this might not be worth the cost. Manhattan We also tried the Espresso Martini for $16 made with Stoli Vanil Vodka, espresso, and Crème de Cacao. She’s a pretty one! Espresso Martini We thought this was definitely not the sweetest espresso martini, but it was really robust and had a great coffee flavor. If you want this sweeter and creamier, you can get them to add Bailey’s to it, but if you don’t need that extra, it’s great without it. Espresso Martini We arrived at Enchanted Rose shortly after they opened, so we were only able to order from the menu of light snacks. We got the Warm Marinated Olives for $9. Olives Unfortunately, these were fairly disappointing. Not bad flavor-wise with some punchiness, but a LOT of oil that made us feel unusually greasy and uncomfortable. Olives So what did we think of our visit to Enchanted Rose? Overall The BIG thing you need to know about visiting Enchanted Rose is the timing! We’re tempted to say that you shouldn’t bother coming here before 5PM because those snack options (literally just nuts, olives, and beef jerky) are kinda lame compared to the eats they serve here for dinnertime. The drinks here are pricier than some other places around Disney World as well. Enchanted Rose So while the dinner eats are typically pretty good and we’ve generally enjoyed the drinks, you should just be prepared to spend more $$$ here overall. It’s not a cheap lounge! Nosh or Not? Be a part of the tale as old as time and dine here if… You’re a HUGE fan of Beauty and the Beast. If you really appreciate the movie and love a themed restaurant, we definitely think you should check this place out! The atmosphere is elegant and beautiful, and if you’re going to be in the area it’s a great stop. You want to try some of their signature drinks or food items. The menu here is unique and different, and some of the items they offer can’t be ordered elsewhere in Disney World. You’re going to be at the Grand Floridian and you want to unwind for a minute. This is a lovely bar stop if you’re doing a Monorail bar crawl or you’re visiting the Grand Flo and just want to unwind with a drink and some food. Be our guest somewhere else if… You’re on a tight budget. Depending on what you order, dining here can be more expensive than ordering at a full-scale table service restaurant. Those small plates aren’t huge, and the drinks are pretty pricey. It’s before 5PM and you want food. If you come here before 5, you’ll only be able to get your choice of three snacks, which is disappointing. Wait until 5PM and order from the small plates menu instead or if you don’t have your heart set on this spot, check out Gasparilla Island Grill for a quick bite. You just want a basic drink. They serve all the basics here, but as we mentioned, they can be more expensive than other bars in Disney World. Save yourself some money and try a different spot. 4. EPCOT is a beautiful theme park with lots of outdoor green space. EPCOT You’ll find flowers, bushes, trees, and open grass areas. It’s a really neat theme park in that way. This also means that you might find cute wildlife like ducks and other bird species, geckos, and more (and, of course, the sea creatures in the aquarium!). We love all the outdoor spaces most of the time, but there is one problem with all these plants being here that we can’t stop thinking about, and it directly affects all of EPCOT’s festivals. The other day, we were reviewing a specialty Joffrey’s beverage for the Food and Wine Festival. We stopped by the Joffrey’s near Disney Traders to grab the PB & J Latte. PB&J Latte While we were going in for our first sip of the latte, we sipped up and immediately spit out our drink! As our reporter was taking a drink, they sipped up a DEAD BEE! There was a dead bee in our latte, and it went into our reporter’s mouth. They were traumatized and couldn’t stop thinking about it the rest of the day. The Cast Members at the Joffrey’s stand were great and made a new one for free, but the reporter went to a different stand to review their second drink. The DEAD BEE in our drink! When they got to the next Joffrey’s stand, they noticed a sign out front that said, “Syrups & sauces are temporarily unavailable to reduce the attraction of bees to this location.” Warning about bees Bees are a real issue around EPCOT, especially during the festivals. EPCOT has four festivals throughout the year — the Food and Wine Festival, Festival of the Holidays, Flower and Garden Festival, and Festival of the Arts. Each of these festivals showcases outdoor food stands, and you’ll likely end up eating your food outside. All the food, syrups, and plants around EPCOT during these festivals can draw these important insects to the area. Joffrey’s Coffee Kiosk While we need bees to keep EPCOT and other outdoor areas functioning and looking beautiful, they can be a problem for those allergic to them and for those of us who don’t really want to eat them with our food and drinks. So, while you’re enjoying your festival food, BEE-WARE that bees may be nearby! Schöfferhofer Lemon Zest Hefeweizen from the Germany Festival Booth We always enjoy EPCOT’s festivals and highly recommend checking them out! They are offered seasonally, and right now, you can visit the 2024 Food and Wine Festival until November 23rd. Explore food and drinks from around the world, exclusive entertainment, and some fun scavenger hunts around EPCOT. The festival is included with your park tickets, but we suggest using a gift card to help budget your spending on food and drinks! For more Disney news, keep following DFB! 6. Act fast Annual Passholders! ©Disney Disney World often rolled out limited-time offerings for their Annual Passholders (APs), including everything from exclusive merchandise and food options to experiences in the resort’s theme parks. This past summer, the company offered three perks at Animal Kingdom in celebration of the 30th Anniversary of The Lion King. However, time is running out to enjoy them, as all three perks expire on September 22nd. Back in August, Disney released a brand new Annual Passholder exclusive magnet featuring Timon and Pumbaa. Annual Passholder magnet The popular free souvenir — early lines were LONG — is available at Chester & Hester’s Dinosaur Treasures to any AP who presents their valid Annual Pass card, linked MagicBand, MagicBand+, or Disney MagicMobile pass, along with a government-issued photo ID. Only one magnet is available per Passholder, and they are distributed on a first-come, first-served basis while supplies last. The magnet line! The magnet wasn’t the only special offering to be made available to Annual Passholders in August. A special treat, the Rafiki Wildberry and DOLE Whip Orange Float was made available at Trilo-Bites on August 14th. The concoction features wildberry syrup, Fanta Orange, and orange-flavored DOLE Whip. Rafiki Wildberry and DOLE Whip Orange Float Once again, Passholders are required to present their valid Annual Pass ID from the My Disney Experience app and a government-issued photo ID to purchase the treat. In the set’s final photo, Timon and Pumbaa magically appear. To download the photos, Passholders need to have a valid Annual Pass with the Disney PhotoPass Downloads Add-On Option. 7. This decades-old Disney ride is being replaced. Buzz Lightyear Astro Blasters (Disneyland) Change is a fact of life at Disney theme parks. Over the years — for better or worse — many rides, shows, attractions, and even whole lands have been shuttered after decades to be replaced by new and updated ones. Next month, one of the core attractions of Tokyo Disneyland’s Tomorrowland will fall victim to this progress. On October 31st, the Tokyo Disneyland version of Buzz Lightyear’s Astro Blasters will close permanently. The attraction, which opened in 2004, is a variant of Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin attraction which opened at Walt Disney World in 1998. Buzz’s face when he learned Ralph was moving in… The Star Command Space Ranger is being evicted to make room for a new attraction based on the 2012 animated film Wreck-It-Ralph. ©Disney According to Disney, the attraction — which is scheduled to open in 2026 — will “allow guests to “enter the candy-themed racing game Sugar Rush, which is being attacked by Sugar Bugs – glitches created by King Candy. Guests team up with the beloved film characters Ralph and Vanellope to transform the Sugar Bugs back to their original “kawaii” confectionery such as cookies and cakes.” Judging by the attraction’s concept art, the Buzz Lightyear ride system will be directly reused, with guests using the former blasters to “transform the Sugar Bugs.” ©Disney Meanwhile, very similar variants of the Buzz Lightyear attraction still exist at Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disneyland Paris, and Shanghai Disneyland. A version had previously been in operation at Hong Kong Disneyland as well, however it was closed in 2017 and replaced by an Ant-Man and the Wasp attraction. Help Buzz defeat Zurg! The Tokyo Disneyland version of Buzz Lightyear’s Astro Blasters will be closing at the end of October to make room for a new Wreck-It Ralph attraction. 8. The executive team at The Walt Disney Company has been changing quite a bit since Bob Iger returned to his role as the company’s CEO in 2022. ©Disney This is actually fairly normal for a company, especially when priorities begin to shift, and executives go on to other roles in the company or find other opportunities outside of the company. Several executives have left over the past few years, but one Disney executive recently chose to step down to focus on her other priorities within the company: making sequels to the popular Frozen franchise of films. According to Deadline, Jennifer Lee, who has been the Chief Creative Officer of Disney Animation since 2018 is stepping down from that role so she can focus on directing and writing the two Frozen sequels currently in the works, Frozen 3 and Frozen 4 with Marc Smith. ©Disney She will be replaced, effective immediately, by Oscar-winning Encanto filmmaker Jared Bush. He will report to Disney Entertainment Co-Chairman Alan Bergman. ©Disney Lee said, “I am so grateful to Bob and Alan for supporting my decision to return to filmmaking full time. Every day working with them is a master class in creativity, business, community, and integrity. I’ve always believed in Jared’s incredible talent and can’t wait to see, with his passion and dedication to animation, what he brings to the CCO role. For me, getting to collaborate with this studio of artists, animators, and storytellers is such a privilege, and I look forward to all we will create together.” Frozen 3 is expected to release in November 2027. We saw some concept art for the movie back in August at D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event. At that same event, Disney also announced that the Frozen Broadway musical will premiere on Disney+ in 2025. Stay tuned to DFB for more! 9. If you’re planning a family vacation to Walt Disney World Resort during the Halloween season, you’ve come to the right place. The planDisney panelists are sharing 8 hauntingly great tips for experiencing frightfully fun offerings across the resort – from the theme parks to Disney Springs, and even at your Disney Resort hotel! Walt Disney World Theme Parks Panelist LeAndra L. loves heading to Disney’s Hollywood Studios with her little ones for a Halloween-inspired character dining experience at Hollywood & Vine. “Minnie and her friends come out to play in their Halloween best while your family enjoys a yummy, buffet-style meal. Not only will your kiddos love giggling with Cowboy Goofy and a not-so-scary Vampire Mickey, but little ones under the age of 3 eat for free at All-You-Care-To-Enjoy dining experiences!” Did you know you can embark on a seasonal scavenger hunt around EPCOT? Panelist Kristi R. says, “Pluto’s Pumpkin Pursuit is a fun addition to your visit that the whole family will enjoy! Simply purchase a game board and stickers, then keep an eye out for hidden character pumpkins around the park.  At the end of your day, you can return your game board for a spooky surprise that makes for a wonderful keepsake!” You can join the hunt now through November 1 while supplies last. Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party If you’re heading to Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party with little ones, panelist Jennifer S. has some advice for making the most of your evening at this separately ticketed event. “Eat an early dinner and arrive at 4 p.m. to start taking advantage of your time at Magic Kingdom Park. Most little ones won’t make it to midnight (they turn into pumpkins!), so get your family photos taken as soon as you arrive and plan to watch the earlier Mickey’s Boo-To-You Halloween Parade at 8:15 p.m.” Panelist Lizzie B. wants to let you in on a little secret. “Adults are allowed to visit Magic Kingdom Park in costume during Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party! This makes it the practically perfect opportunity to get the entire family in on the magic by choosing a group costume that’s themed to your little one’s favorite Disney character! Whether you transform together into Andy’s favorite toys or a crew of Never Land locals, be sure to review the event’s official costume guidelines before your visit.” Disney Springs Panelist Heather S. says Disney Springs is the best place for the whole family to get into the Halloween spirit! “As you stroll through Disney Springs, you’ll find seasonal décor, Halloween merchandise, and delicious treats with a dash of Halloween cheer. In the evening, you’ll experience eerie entertainment like dance parties, street performers, and DJs spinning spooky tunes!” Looking for a unique way to commemorate your family’s visit to Walt Disney World during the Halloween season? Panelist Alison S. recommends stopping by the Disney PhotoPass Studio at Disney Springs for a seasonal photo session. “The Disney PhotoPass photographers will be as happy as a grim-grinning ghost to capture your Halloween memories! There’s no cost for the photo experience and no reservations are required. Your downloads are available for viewing and purchase on the My Disney Experience mobile app (and included with your purchase of Memory Maker!)” Disney Resorts Collection After a long day at the theme parks, panelist Betsy S. and her family love to head back to their Disney Resort hotel to catch a movie under the stars. “As Halloween creeps closer, be sure to check the recreation schedule to see which slightly spooky flicks are showing during your stay. Stop by your resort’s quick-service dining location to pick up some seasonal treats and set up for a frightfully fun evening!” If you’re staying at a Disney Resort hotel on Halloween night, panelist Lauren H. recommends visiting the front desk or checking out the special activities board to see what Halloween-inspired activities your resort has planned. “One year, my kids got to put on their Halloween costumes and join a parade in the lobby. You might also find trick-or-treat trails, haunted scavenger hunts, ghoulish pool parties, and more!” Well, there you have it! If you have any Disney vacation planning questions, stop by planDisney.com to ask one of our fang-tastic panelists! You can also follow along @planDisneyPanel on Instagram for more vacation planning tips and insights. Happy haunting! Panelists are compensated for their participation on planDisney. 11. We absolutely cannot wait to set sail on the Disney Treasure! ©Disney With everything that’s coming to this brand-new ship coming in the Disney Cruise Line fleet, we’re just beside ourselves with all the excitement. But before we get too far ahead of ourselves, we wanted to give you a quick rundown on the three Adults-Only spaces that will be coming to the Disney Treasure Cruse Ship. Let’s go! Here’s what we know about some of the drinks that you can check out: First up, blood orange and sour cherry flavors will harmonize in a shimmering zero-proof cocktail served in a specialty mug aptly titled, Sympathetic Libations. ©Disney The Ghoulish Delight will be an ube-flavored treat that everyone will be able to enjoy. The drink, with hints of sweetness and nuttiness, will incorporate decadent ube fudge, oat milk, and tapioca pearls in a purple concoction garnished with a gummy eyeball and ube glitter. ©Disney A spooky twist on a classic margarita, presented to guests amidst a swirl of flavored smoke, will be another signature drink at the Haunted Mansion Parlor. Topped with lemon salt foam, this tequila-based cocktail will contain a secret message, only to be revealed by black light. ©Disney Next, let’s talk about some of the merchandise that will be available and exclusive to the Disney Treasure! The Haunted Mansion Parlor Music Box will be a keepsake inspired by the eerie music box that will play a melodic soundtrack inside the Haunted Mansion Parlor. As the rumors go, this mysterious box belonged to the captain’s bride-to-be and only opens in the presence of malevolent spirits. ©Disney Honoring the memorable grandfather clock seen in the original Disney Parks attraction, the Haunted Parlor Mantle Clock will loom over the fireplace inside the venue, instigating mysterious happenings when it strikes 13. As a part of the new merchandise collection, Disney Cruise Line guests will be able to bring home their very own mantle clock, just like the one from the parlor. ©Disney Featuring the same octopus design from the bar’s entrance onboard the Disney Treasure, the Haunted Mansion Parlor Sculpted Mug will depict an aura of intrigue and will be accented with a variety of sea life, including a hidden Mickey Mouse-shaped barnacle. ©Disney Speaking of mugs, Disney also released some concept art for specialty Tiki Mugs featuring some of the characters in the lounge! Here’s The Bride… ©Disney …and the Mariner Ghost! ©Disney These ceramic mugs will look like they are “carved from the worn wooden planks of a ghost ship,” Disney says. The Haunted Mansion Parlor Mirror will allow guests to take home a piece of the magic, offering a ghoulish surprise to unsuspecting users when the hitchhiking ghosts mysteriously appear. ©Disney Now, let’s talk about some of the decor we’ll find in the parlor. First, we’ve got the Ghost Fish Aquarium. Legend has it was owned by a former sea captain. He was last seen headed to have dinner with his bride, but they vanished! All that remained was his hat, which was founding floating in this ghost fish aquarium. ©Disney The inspiration for this ghostly aquarium came from an idea that was originally proposed for the original Haunted Mansion attraction in Disneyland. During the ride’s development, famous Disney Imagineer Rolly Crump proposed a creative concept for a “Museum of the Weird” exhibit. While many of his initial ideas made it into the attraction, some of the concepts remained in the vault — including a mysterious aquarium, filled with ghost fish. Haunted Mansion at Disneyland Rolly’s initial sketch was referenced by Imagineers working on the Disney Treasure to create this Ghost Fish Aquarium for the Haunted Mansion Parlor! ©Disney On top of all of that, Rolly Crump himself will also be honored in the parlor with a bust! There are some portraits that will hang in the Haunted Mansion Lounge. Here’s a portrait of the Captain, in his living, mortal form… ©Disney …and the Mariner Ghost. (You can also find this portrait in the Haunted Mansions at both Disney World and Tokyo Disneyland.) ©Disney Disney gave us a sneak peak at some special effects in the lounge. For example, let’s look at this portrait of The Bride dressed in her wedding gown and holding her wedding flowers. The Captain found his bride-to-be when he answered a distress call from another vessel. When he arrived she was the lone survivor of the shipwreck. ©Disney But there’s a second portrait of this beauty…and she’s changed. Is she a sea monster? A mermaid? And those flowers in her hand…were they concealing an ax?! Disney says her portrait will flicker — revealing her true essence, just like the portraits inside the Haunted Mansion attractions. ©Disney We also got our first look at the costumes that will be worn in the Haunted Mansion Parlor. As you can see, these differ from those worn at the attraction in Disney World and Disneyland. The skeleton keys are filled with Easter eggs — and you will see different versions of the keys on different Cast Members’ outfits. FUN. The best is inspired by the lining inside one of Haunted Mansion’s coffins. Costumes! Here’s a closer look at those costumes. ©Disney We can’t wait to see and learn even more about this parlor, and for sure we’ll keep you updated. Periscope Pub The new Periscope Pub is going to become Disney Cruise Line’s first venue inspired by the adventure of Disney’s 1954 film, 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea. Also, there was also a Disney Parks attraction that was open at Walt Disney World from 1971 to 1994. ©Disney The atmosphere is inspired by a submarine with “19th-century steampunk influences.” There will be “a mysterious window into the mythical depths of the uncharted oceans” spanning the full ceiling! ©Disney You’ll want to head to the Periscope Pub for craft brews, light snacks, sports on the TVs, and you’ll see some nods to a certain giant squid. Now, about the costumes for the Periscope Pub, these might look a little familiar because they’re an upscale version of the original 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea ride: note the “N” piece from the ride that was modified into a “P” for the Periscope Pub. We love this throwback. Love the details Here’s a closer look at the costumes for Periscope Pub. ©Disney We’re keeping our eyes peeled for the latest about this pub, so you can bet we’ll keep you posted on everything we learn about it! Skipper Society Lastly, let’s talk about Skipper Society. This will be the FIRST ever Jungle Cruise-themed bar and lounge on a cruise ship. This punny lounge will be located just off the grand hall aboard the ship. You’ll be able to get drinks and snacks here, which will be served by Cast Members who truly take on the role of Skipper and provide comical entertainment. In the concept art, you can see the low-hanging canvas ceilings, which makes the space feel more intimate. ©Disney Disney noted that the decor is inspired by the Jungle Cruise attractions at both Disney World and Disneyland. From the Disneyland ride, Imagineers gained inspiration from the “flora and fauna sprouting around Jungle Cruise,” which “gives guests the sense that they are sailing in waterways around the globe.” As a nod to this, the Skipper Society will be full of plants that are the same foliage species as those in Disneyland. Disneyland Jungle Cruise Imagineers also took inspiration from the green and red architecture of the Jungle Cruise in Magic Kingdom. Those colorful tones will be found throughout the lounge, especially depicted on the walls, which are painted “the exact color” to match the Jungle Cruise attraction marquee in Disney World. Jungle Cruise You’ll want to pay close attention to the travel stickers on the vintage-style luggage behind the bar as they will represent various locations depicted inside the Jungle Cruise attraction, including that 8th wonder of the world, the Backside of Water! ©Disney Another important feature of the lounge is the music. Disney stated that “guests will hear familiar music playing in the venue, including spiels from the Jungle Cruise attractions around the world!” They said, “You’ll hear Skipper voices from across the globe and in various languages such as English, Dutch, French, Cantonese, and more.” Skipper Society Another important thing to note is that Skipper Society is going to have “a jungle boat name of its own,” according to Disney! The lounge’s boat name is “Ems Empress,” named after the Ems River “where the Disney Treasure will make her first voyage to sea.” You’ll be able to spot the “Ems Empress” sign inside the lounge. As always, if you’re looking to book a sailing, we recommend doing so as soon as possible and it doesn’t hurt booking out as far as you can, as well. 13. You know what gets a BAD rap in Disney World? The cafeteria-style quick service restaurants at the hotels! Port Orleans Resort — French Quarter And honestly, we can’t say we blame people for hating on them. We’ve definitely had our share of mediocre meals at the value resorts! But what about the cafeteria quick service spots at the moderate resorts? They’ve got to be at least MODERATEly better, right?! (Pun totally intended.) Well, recently I stopped by one of them to find out. Atmosphere For this review, I’m taking you along with me to Sassagoula Floatworks & Food Factory at Disney’s Port Orleans Resort — French Quarter. The restaurant is located in the main building of the resort, right next to Scat Cat’s Club — Cafe. Let’s go to Sassagoula! When you first walk in, you’ll be greeted by the area with all the food counters. Here, you’ll pick out your eats and then check out before finding your seat. Counters They’ve got individual stands with prepackaged snacks… Prepackaged snacks …as well as bottled beverages. These are great options if you’re looking for something to grab and go. Beverages Each of the various counters has a different type of cuisine. Check out the menu boards above each one to see what they serve. You’ll pick up a tray, order your food at the counter, and then wait for it to be made fresh. Several different counters Once you’ve got your food, stop by the checkout counter to pay for your meals. Check out From there, you can choose a seat in the massive dining area. The room is themed to a Mardi Gras celebration with MASSIVE props all over the walls and ceiling! Dining area In the center of the room, there’s a drinks and condiments station with silverware, an ice machine, various condiments… Condiments and beverages …multiple Coca-Cola freestyle machines… Coca-Cola Freestyle …a coffee bar, and toasters. They’ve got the whole setup out here! Drink station The opposite side of the room has more tables, and the view of the resort out the windows is quite tranquil! Other seating area Now let’s check out that menu! Menu Like the other cafeteria-style restaurants, Sassagoula Floatworks & Food Factory has a broad menu with a variety of options. There are a few New Orleans-inspired specialties, including gumbo, jambalaya, smothered beef in gravy, and mojo chicken. But on top of that, they have a selection of burgers and chicken to appease pickier eaters. ©Disney If you’d like a sandwich, you could try options like the shrimp po’ boy or the honey barbecued pork. And of course, you can order various pizza and pasta types. ©Disney For lighter fare, they have soups, salads, and a plant-based Korean-style burger. ©Disney We can’t forget about the sides! They have a charcuterie option, as well as french fries, garlic bread sticks, and macaroni & cheese. ©Disney Last but not least, we’ve got the kids’ section! There are a few different kids’ meals to choose from, like cheeseburgers, pasta, and chicken strips. ©Disney Now it’s time to order some food! Eats To properly scope out the food scene, I ordered two entrees, a beverage, and a dessert. Let’s dig in! The spread First up, we’ve got the Mango Tea, which is $6.49 and made with black tea, coconut milk, and mango purée garnished with mango boba pearls. It was refreshing and light with a nice fruity flavor that wasn’t too sweet or overpowering, but I was definitely missing out on the boba pearls! At first glance, they seemed to be gathered at the bottom, but they were all either stuck underneath the ice or mostly busted. Mango Tea For my first entree, I got the Honey Barbecued Pulled Pork Sandwich. It’s $10.79 and served with a zesty vegetable slaw and french fries. Honey Barbecued Pulled Pork Sandwich This was probably my favorite part of the meal, surprisingly! The pork was tender and the sauce was honey-sweet. There was a decent portion of meat and the bun was nice and soft. The fries were your typical Disney fries that are best eaten fresh (they get pretty tough once they cool off, and that happens FAST). Inside the sandwich However, perhaps the most intriguing thing was the vegetable slaw…it was PINK! It had a very tangy and vinegar-forward flavor like it was made of pickled veggies. It was a great accompaniment to the sweet barbecue pork and is served on the side, so you can eat it as a standalone or pile it on the sandwich. Pink coleslaw! For my second entree, I tried the rather interesting-sounding Beef and Fried Shrimp Burger for $14.49. It’s a beef and fried shrimp burger with Remoulade sauce. Kinda like a burger and a shrimp po’ boy had a baby! Beef and Shrimp Burger Unfortunately, the burger patty itself was pretty bland and dry like Disney quick service burgers usually are. However, the shrimp were plump, juicy, and thoroughly battered and fried. The Remoulade sauce added some nice depth of flavor with a hint of spice, and the whole thing was partially cooled by the lettuce and tomato. One problem I ran into was that the tomato on the bottom made the bottom bun a little soggy. Inside the burger Last and possibly least, it was time for dessert! I ordered the Donut Holes with chocolate sauce for $4.99. These are supposedly glazed and I was pretty excited for them, but my excitement dimmed when I saw they were prepackaged and not kept warm. Donut Holes The outside of the donut holes were quite sticky, but the insides were INCREDIBLY dry. Like, I could only eat one of them and I had to smother it in chocolate sauce. The chocolate sauce was rich and smooth, but it wasn’t quite enough to save the pastry. Dipped in chocolate! So how does Sassagoula fare in my book? Overall I’ve eaten at quite a few of these quick service food courts now, and Sassagoula stands about even with the rest of them. Typically these spots will have an entree or two that are fairly good, along with plenty of others that are mediocre or not-so-great. It’s standard food and there are lots of options to please a family with a variety of preferences. Should you go? The atmosphere is nicer than the food courts at the value resorts, but this is definitely not a destination restaurant. It’s the same basics you can get elsewhere, just with some slight twists. Nosh or Not? Enjoy a quick service Mardi Gras meal if… You’re staying at this resort and need a quick meal. If you’re staying at French Quarter and want an easy breakfast or lunch, this isn’t a bad option. You have a large party or a variety of tastes. There’s ample seating here and with the various food counters, there are SO many things to choose from. Much easier than smaller spots with more limited menus. Skip the Sassagoula Floatworks and mosey to another spot if… You’re hoping to eat dinner. While this spot serves dinner, I would more readily recommend visiting Scat Cat’s Club — Lounge two doors down instead. That restaurant has a relaxed atmosphere and more interesting (and delicious) eats. You’re not staying at French Quarter. There’s really no reason to go out of your way to eat here. It’s pretty similar to other food courts around Disney World. Sassagoula Floatworks We’ll keep you in the loop with other restaurant reviews from Disney World, so stay tuned to DFB for the latest! 14. Many of Disney World’s 75,000 Cast Members are represented by labor unions. Maria & Enzo’s In 2023, after months of stalled negotiations, a union representing the majority of Cast Members voted on and approved a new contract with Disney World. That contract Disney World’s minimum wage to $18 per hour. But not every Cast Member you encounter in Disney World is covered by the union contract. Today, one of Disney World’s largest labor unions announced an effort to expand and cover more Disney World workers. Although Local 737 represents 19,000 Disney World workers, there are many subcontractors who work at Disney World locations, including workers at restaurants on Disney World property that are privately owned. These subcontractors work for 56 food and beverage locations that are not owned by Disney — many of them in Disney Springs. Local 737 According to a survey released by the union, 59 percent are part-time employees, 46 percent have no health insurance and 28 percent receive paid vacation, although the employees who are members of Local 737 all receive paid time off. The union is looking at the way its represented workers and those subcontractors are treated. Unite Here Local 737 held a press conference on Sept. 18th. Jeremy Haicken, President of Local 737, said there is an unacceptable difference in how Disney World union workers are treated compared to the subcontracted workers. He said that the union would fight for changes for this group of workers, including potentially having the workers join the union, which would provide them access to higher wages, and full-time jobs with access to health care, paid time off, and paid sick time. This is a developing story, so stay tuned to DFB for more. Perhaps the holiday event we’re most excited about this year, though, is Jollywood Nights, which is returning to Disney’s Hollywood Studios for its second year. Disney has already revealed some details about this year’s parties, but we now have even MORE details to share! Jollywood Nights is a separately ticketed event that takes place on select nights in Hollywood Studios from November 9th through December 21st. The event combines classic Hollywood with the holidays and offers exclusive snacks, entertainment, merchandise, character meet and greets, and more. We went to the first Jollywood Nights last year and were excited when Disney announced it would return this year! Phineas and Ferb at Jollywood Nights in 2023 This year’s party is going to be even bigger, and Disney has previously announced some new things coming to the event. Now, though, we’ve got more details. Perhaps the most exciting event is Glisten, a brand new experience. It’s an ice skating show that will be performed on Hollywood Boulevard. YES! Several times each evening, you’ll get to watch international champion skaters in “glitzy costumes” performing routines to holiday songs and Disney favorites. We can’t WAIT! Disney even dropped a new video to tell us even more about Glisten! If that isn’t enough to get you stoked, we also got some more details about a new dance party starring all your favorite Pixar characters that will be coming to this year’s Jollywood Nights. You’ll get to join Joy, Frozone, Edna Mode, and other Pixar characters on the dance floor. ©Disney The Latin street fair, Holiday Fiesta en la Calle, will return this year in a new location at Animation Courtyard. This year will bring some new characters to the festivities: José Carioca and Panchito from The Three Caballeros. New characters are coming to this year’s Jollywood Nights, too. Head on over to Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge to spot The Mandalorian or pop into Toy Story Land to grab some photos with Bo peep and Lotso. Phineas and Ferb will be returning this year, along with Santa Stitch and Santa Duffy. The Mandalorian You’ll also get a snack as a parting gift as you leave the party: six champagne flavored Wondermade marshmallows in a special Kermit the Frog and Miss Piggy box. How fun! Also, we’d go for the marshmallows alone – they are AMAZING. ©Disney Of course, some things are returning this year, including Disney Holidays in Hollywood hosted by Kermit the Frog and miss Piggy. You’ll be in for a spectacular show with appearance from Tiana, Belle, Minnie, Mickey, and more. You’ll also be able to catch The Nightmare Before Christmas Sing-along that will include surprise character appearances. What’s This? The Tip Top Club is also returning to the Hollywood Tour Hotel, where you’ll get to hang out in the golden age of Hollywood with a vintage cocktails and great music. 19. One of the best ways to end the night in Disney World is with fireworks. They all lived happily… ever… after. Whether you’re watching Luminous — the Symphony of Us in EPCOT, Fantasmic and Wonderful World of Animation in Hollywood Studios, or Happily Ever After in Magic Kingdom, you’ll be treated to a display of Disney music and pyrotechnic prowess, usually topped with some general nostalgia and a heartwarming storyline. But Magic Kingdom perhaps takes the cake for the most emotional show, and nowadays, those fireworks just hit different. Happily Ever After in Magic Kingdom is a fan-favorite when it comes to nighttime shows, with a spectacular theme song, stunning projections, and a moving storyline. It features not only some showstopping fireworks but also lots of projections with clips from classic and new Disney movies. Happily Ever After There are multiple sections to the show. Some feature Disney heroes, while others highlight villains. Some include clips from Disney love stories or movies about families. But as the show winds down a bit for the finale, there’s one clip that always stands out. Happily Ever After Right after the heroes seemingly lose the battle to the villains, Cinderella Castle darkens and a solitary figure gets projected on the front. It’s Mufasa from The Lion King, here with the same message he gave Simba in the film, reminding us to “remember who you are.” This section often earns the cheers of the crowd and much general enthusiasm, but it’s really been hitting hard as of late. That’s because on Monday, September 9th, James Earl Jones passed away. Jones was known for many iconic roles, but to Disney fans, he was commonly known as the voice of Darth Vader and Mufasa. ©WireImage So now, every time we hear his voice in Happily Ever After, we’ll salute James Earl Jones and thank him for the incredible work he accomplished for movie fans for many decades. If you catch us with a few extra tears rolling down our cheeks during the next show, you’ll know why. via NBC News Stay tuned to DFB for more Disney World news and updates. 20. For Tracy Martindale, being a cast member at Disneyland Resort means making wishes come true across the galaxy! As an event manager at the resort, Tracy works behind-the-scenes to bring the magic to life, coordinating everything from grand openings to radio and television broadcast events. Her role is imperative in bringing teams together, leading partners across the resort like entertainment, food and beverage and more to make unforgettable experiences possible in ways that only Disney can. Throughout her over 30-year career at Disneyland Resort, Tracy has planned and facilitated countless events, including the Make-A-Wish window dedication at Disneyland park, Disney’s Power of Joy: Creator Summit and more! Each of these events are important to her in different ways, teaching her how to create magic for a variety of guests. However, this month, Tracy led perhaps one of the most special events in her career — the first-ever, multi-day Star Wars-themed wish event. “Having worked at Disneyland Resort for such a long time, I’ve seen many wishes taking place here,” Tracy said. “The magic of a wish is so important. When I heard about this new wish event, I immediately offered to be the event manager.” This experience, Blaze Your Path: A Star Wars Adventure, invited 19 wish children and their families from Make-A-Wish and other wish-granting organizations for five days of Star Wars surprises and special memories at Disneyland Resort. This adventure was nothing short of extraordinary, with a thrilling scavenger hunt, exciting experiences on Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance, droid-building and even an epic lightsaber battle between Rey and Kylo Ren in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge! To further surprise these young Padawans, the families were invited to a private dinner, dessert party and show, featuring noble Jedi and sinister Sith. Behind the magic was Tracy, leading dynamic teams of cast members to bring the beloved Star Wars stories to life for these wish kids. Alongside partners from around the resort, Tracy ensured these families had an experience nothing short of magical, granting special gifts, character encounters and experiences personalized to their unique interests. “Along with a very talented team of partners, we have taken wishes for a Star Wars experience at Disneyland Resort and turned it into a one-of-a-kind Star Wars fan experience these children will remember for years to come,” Tracy said. Tracy’s tie to the event goes beyond her role as event manager — this project was even more special given her personal connection with Make-A-Wish. Tracy has been connected with Make-A-Wish for more than 10 years, beginning when she worked for the nonprofit as program services director in Southern Nevada, where she led the team responsible for creating the wishes in the area. When she returned to Disneyland Resort, Make-A-Wish was still in her heart, inspiring her to volunteer her time through wish granting, event planning and raising awareness for the organization. For Tracy, wish granting is one of the most special ways to apply her skillsets with events; even outside of her role at Disneyland Resort, she is making wishes a reality day after day for children fighting critical illnesses. “It’s so magical to be able to walk into a wish family’s home and say, ‘You’re going to Disneyland!’ and being a part of that, knowing how it’s going to help those children in their journey,” Tracy said. “My personal connection as a volunteer for Make-A-Wish gave me the insight needed to help develop a special experience for these wish kids and their families.” Blaze Your Path: A Star Wars Adventure at Disneyland Resort bridged Tracy’s passions, both event planning and wish granting, making magical memories for wish children with an affinity for all things lightsabers and droids. Her decade-long relationship with Make-A-Wish provided her the unique ability to make the event the best in the galaxy for these brave younglings, something she will carry with her for the rest of her career. “Being able to grant 19 wishes through this one-of-a-kind event is a career highlight and knowing that we will bring hope and joy to the wish kids and their families makes it that much more fulfilling.” Have you heard? Disney has helped grant more than 155,000 wishes globally with Make-A-Wish. To learn more about how Disney and Make-A-Wish create magical wishes together, visit wish.org/Disney. 24. Bright Suns! Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge Food at Disney Parks is always changing. On the one hand, this is great as it leads to a diverse and ever-evolving selection of options across the company’s resorts. Unfortunately, it can also mean that a favorite treat can disappear, sometimes forever. Recently though, one of our favorite treats RETURNED to Disneyland. Back when Galaxy’s Edge first opened at Disneyland in 2019, we sampled — and loved — the Chocolate Popcorn with Crait Red Salt from Kat Saka’s Kettle. At the time, we gushed “We are here for the idea of chocolate-flavored popcorn! I mean, it’s a little-known secret that chocolate can pair well with salt, and we found the flavor balance in this popcorn to be spot-on. It was almost like biting into salty Cocoa Puffs, in the best way possible. Some pieces were coated with Red Salt, of course, mined from the planet Crait.” Form a Galaxy far, far away… At some point though, the chocolate popcorn disappeared from Kat Saka Kettle. The flavor was still available from time to time at another kiosk in the land, but it was absent from the Kat Saka’s menu… UNTIL NOW. We’re happy to report that the Chocolate Popcorn with Crait Red Salt is BACK at Kat Saka’s Kettle, and we sampled some firsthand recently at Disneyland. It was just as good as we remembered! Delicious You can grab some now for $7.29. The chocolate flavor is way more subtle than our reporter who grabbed it this time was expecting, but it’s a really good amount as it only enhances the sweetness with a soft chocolate tone and never overpowers the snack. It’s a fun snack and one you won’t find anywhere else at Disneyland! Yum One of our favorite Galaxy’s Edge treats, Chocolate Popcorn with Crait Red Salt has returned to Kat Saka’s Kettle. 25. Yes, we’re eating our way around Disney World…again. And with today’s adventure came an unexpected change of “course”! The food spread of doom While poking around at the latest menu updates around Disney World’s restaurants, we stumbled across an interesting find that not only piqued our interest but set off our sense of adventure at the same time! Hang on to your hats because we’re taking a trip to Jock Lindsey’s Hanger Bar to try out their new eats. Jock Lindsey’s Hanger Bar is a lounge style restaurant tucked away into the corner of the Landing at Disney Springs. This seems fitting because if you’re scratching your head and asking “Who’s Jock?” well, he’s the trusty pilot and good friend of someone you may be more familiar with, Indiana Jones. Jock Lindsey’s Hangar Bar While it’s anything but sleepy, this spot has made quite the name for itself thanks to its appropriately punny named drinks and tapas-style light bites. They’ve recently made a few changes to their menu offerings here, so we knew what we had to do! Atmosphere At face value, Jock Lindsey’s Hangar Bar might just look like a cool airplane hanger style bar and lounge, but it’s so much more to that when you dive into the restaurant’s backstory! For those who aren’t as well versed about Jock Lindsey and his travels (read that as trials and tribulations) alongside Indiana Jones, allow us to fill in a few gaps for you. You see, Jock found this waterfront hangout while searching for the Fountain of Youth with Dr. Jones himself! Welcome! Additionally, if you know anything about Indiana Jones you’re probably familiar with how much he hates snakes, so it may seem like an odd pairing of the two when you realize that Jock’s pet is actually a snake named Reggie — more on that later! The outside looks like the beginnings of what you might expect to see out of a rounded metal airplane hanger that admittedly, probably has gotten a bit rusty with age! Just look for the sign You can already spot some fun details like an airplane propeller… Airplane propeller …and a few dirty glass panels where you would expect to see a plane housed. Front entrance As you step inside, you’ll be treated to uniquely themed decor that tells tales of the travels that Jock and Indiana Jones have blazed together! Hung pictures There’s a large bar with seating to the right-hand side… Bar …while over toward the middle and the left you’ll have seating options between small tables and chairs… Tables and chairs …a few booths (appropriately made of out old airplane materials)… Booth seating …and a couple of hightop tables, if you prefer! In the back right-hand corner is an old Dive Bell, and it’s one of the most sought-after spots in this joint. At busier times you’ll wait to be seated and texted when your table is ready, but since we were coming in so early, we had the chance to choose where we wanted to be seated and that was where we bee-lined for! Jock Lindsey’s Hangar Bar When you’re visiting, spend some time looking around, you might just spot a few notable artifacts from the films! Look all around you Seriously this place is so dense with details you could spend hours pouring over all of the decor, spotting even the tiniest references, and reading through the artwork and framed notes. Menu Alright, we’re getting on a tangent here, but it’s time to focus! We’re here to eat and check out the new bites in this place. Several new appetizers had just hit this restaurant’s menu but the front side outlines their signature libations… Drinks! …while the back is where you can find their light bites, draft beers, hard ciders, and wines. Eats! And of course, you can always ask your server about recommendations based on your preferences if you’re unsure of what to order. It’s like being able to fly a plane blindfolded! Drinks We opted to try out the Shorty’s Singapore Sling for starters! It’s made of Plymouth Gin, Heering Cherry Liqueur, Bénédictine, Cointreau, fresh lime juice, pineapple juice, and grenadine for $16. Shorty’s Singapore Sling This drink was bubbly, and you could definitely tell the grenadine was there! You’re immediately hit with the cherry flavor. You’ll get the hints of the lime and pineapple juice to follow but that cherry liqueur is the commanding presence in this drink. If you’re not a fan of stronger drinks, this one might not be the best for you because we thought it tasted like a liquified version of a cough drop with a little fizz. Eats We hope you packed your appetite because we’re really gonna need your help getting through everything we ordered for this meal! We ended up ordering the Snakebite Bao Buns, Air Tours Bacon and Waffles, Mine Car Meatballs, and the Shrimp Fried Rice Bites…whew that was a huge undertaking! Our whole order The Mine Car Meatballs were the first to arrive! This dish is made of pork and beef meatballs, sweet-and-sour BBQ, and chimichurri on potato hay and will cost you $13. You can also substitute the pork and beef meatballs for Impossible meatballs if you prefer! They’re served to you on a litteral mine car and we cackled with laughter when we saw it. Mine Car Meatballs This dish was interesting because the meatballs are rolled in the sweet-and-sour BBQ sauce. Now if your mind relates meatballs to marinara sauce, your taste buds are met with instant alert when you get those sweeter BBQ notes. They’re savory and soft but a little juicy once you get past the sauce and break into the inside. Inside the meatball And there’s an added crunch from those potato sticks. You’ll really have to get a good amount of chimichurri to taste it and it’s only found at the top. If you’re someone who really enjoys that flavor in your foods, you might have to swirl the meatball around to get more of that sauce coverage on more than just one spot of the meatball. Next to arrive were the lovely Snakebite Bao Buns! Remember when we said earlier we’d come back around to Reggie, well, that time is now. These little guys come served in Reggie the snake’s pet cage (name tag and all). They’re made of a pair of bao buns stuffed with smoked brisket, ají amarillo mustard, peppadew relish, pickled onion, and tomato which will cost you $15. Snakebite Bao Buns These little guys have just the right amount of smoked and chewy brisket to accompany the crisp veggies between the relish and pickled onion. Altogether, they create a nice, low heat to really turn up the flavor. Uncaged! The aji amarillo mustard gave it an interesting flavor and against the smoky brisket meat, it almost tasted like a burger slider. We thought these were excellent but the sad part is there’s only two of them to enjoy so if you’re really after value, one of the other light bites might be the better pick for you (because we’re not sharing the next time we order these things)! Cross section of the bao bun Now we’re soaring right on into our next appetizer, the Air Tours Bacon and Waffles. These little guys were even more “on the nose” than the last few presentations. This is made of spiced candied bacon, chorizo waffles, and honey balsamic syrup in a syringe and will run you $14. They’re all served on a wooden airplane post where the candied bacon strips look like they’re hung up with clips to dry out. Truly we can’t get enough of this place and how it doesn’t take itself too seriously! Air Tours Bacon & Waffles The candied bacon here is perfected down to a science! It’s well cooked, crisp to the touch and crunches when you break off a piece or bite into it. It’s thoroughly coated in that candied coating. Candied bacon But, don’t get us wrong, there’s a little bit of a low heat to these little guys too! They’re a low to medium spicy heat but the waffles have bits of chorizo cooked into them that gives it an interesting savory flavor against the fluffy waffle. See the chorizo? Watch out though because your tastebuds are really in for a treat after you squeeze some of the honey balsamic syrup over it. Waffle with the syrup Our only complaint here was that the syringe for the syrup is fairly small so we found ourselves rationing the syrup between the two to give the maximum efficiency of sweet to savory ration in our two waffle bites. Last but certainly not least it was time for the Shrimp Fried Rice Bites! These were some of what we were most excited to try and we’re happy to report they were worth the wait. They’re made of breaded rice bites accompanied by shishito peppers and sweet-and-sour sauce to dip or drizzle over your bites. These will set you back $14. Shrimp Fried Rice Bites These were DIVINE. Our reporter doesn’t even typically like rice bites but said she couldn’t get enough of these! The outer crust of the rice bite may appear similar to a hushpuppy but once you break into the center of it, the rice is soft and tender. Bites with the peppers We were served 6 of these bites with our order and they were quite large! If you find you can’t get enough of the sweet-and-sour sauce to dip your rice bites into… Side of sweet-and-sour sauce …there’s a bit more included at the top of the cone that’s served to you (you know, for extra backup just hanging around). More at the top! There’s a low heat to these as well, but not nearly as much as was in the chorizo waffles — its more of a flash of heat that’s fleeting when you get more of the sweet and sour sauce. Inside look at the rice bite! If you’re really wanting to keep that heat going though, we suggest taking small bites of the shishito peppers along to really amp up the flavor! Overall This restaurant is a great option to come to alone, for an intimate date night filled with fun and laughter, or even a small group gathering. While it’s a cozier restaurant in size compared to others around Disney Springs, it’s definitely marching to the beat of its own drum and it’s got quite the menu to back it up. Menu outside of sharable plates We highly recommend making space in your next Disney World visit to pop by for some light bites and drinks — we don’t think you’ll be disappointed! Nosh or Not? Venture on out to Jock Lindsey’s Hangar Bar if… You’re a fan of sharable eats with storytelling settings. This entire place feels like you’ve stepped through the movie set of a classic film franchise, and some folks just love being wrapped up in the atmosphere of it all. It’s a prime spot for anyone whether you’re dining alone or with a group of friends and family! You don’t mind a spicy kick to your meals. While not everything is spicy here, we did have several dishes that had a low or medium heat to them with each bite. If this sounds right up your alley, then hop aboard! You’re a huge movie buff and love all things Indiana Jones! You truly can’t escape being enveloped into such an immersive setting, and like we said before, the right person could entertain themselves for hours simply by looking around. Hit the road if… This entire theming is just not your style. While you don’t have to know a lot about Indiana Jones to appreciate a good meal here, the theming is everywhere. If you’re looking for something a little less dramatic, you might find solice dining elsewhere. Bars and lounges aren’t your ideal restaurant. If you’re looking for an entree-style table service meal, this restaurant simply isn’t built for that so you’re better served elsewhere. You’re just not willing to do the crowds. As we mentioned before this is a smaller dining spot and at certain times of the year and days of the week, Disney Springs is known to get a little, well… peopley. If crowds just aren’t for you, then we could totally understand you looking for somewhere else to eat. We’re updating our reviews of EVERYWHERE you can eat in Disney World all the time!
