  1. Have you ever run into a celebrity at the Disney parks? Hollywood Studios You might be surprised how often famous singers and actors visit Disney World. Just like all of us, these stars enjoy Disney and the theme parks. Recently, a young celebrity from a popular spin-off show was spotted on a family vacation at Disney’s Hollywood Studios! He was certainly showing off his brainy Sheldon smarts with that trivia game! Maybe he needs to be in the next Star Wars film or series. Disney also shared a video of Iain riding Rise of the Resistance at Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, and he was clearly having the time of his life! ©Disney He was smiling and laughing with enjoyment throughout the entire ride! He was amazed by all the huge details, especially the AT-ATs. ©Disney At the end of the ride he said, “That was insane! I loved it so much.” We’re glad he enjoyed it as much as we do! It’s fun to see the enjoyment these celebrities can get from the same things we do. For more Disney news, keep following DFB! 7. Being a TV show on a streaming subscription service is HARD. That’s because we’re in an era when very few shows even make it past their first season. ©Netflix Although TV networks are also guilty of canceling TV shows, streaming seems to be canceling even more. We’ve even seen shows we thought were successful, like Amazon’s My Lady Jane, get the axe after just one season. Honestly, it’s hard to commit to a TV show these days because you just don’t know if it’s going to get renewed. Netflix is just as bad about canceling shows as everyone else, and we’re going to look at why it recently canceled eight shows. Obliterated According to Variety, Netflix canceled Obliterated after just one season back in February. The comedy from Cobra Kai creators Jon Hurwitz, Hayden Schlossberg, and Josh Heald, followed a special forces team celebrating a victory after thinking they’d stopped a deadly threat in Las Vegas. As they’re partying, they realize that the threat remains, and must overcome their drunkenness and personal issues to find the real bomb and save the city. ©Netflix Let’s be honest: Have you even heard of this series? We don’t think Netflix even promoted it, so its fate might have been decided pretty early on. However, The Hollywood Reporter states that the series cracked Netflix’s Top 10 for six weeks, but reviews were not great for it: The series only scored a 45 percent on Rotten Tomatoes. Ratched You might think a Sarah Paulson-helmed thriller/horror series would be a no-brainer, but according to Deadline, Netflix canceled Ratched after one season in February. This Ryan Murphy (American Horror Story)-helmed series was inspired by the terrifying Nurse Ratched from One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest. It followed the nurse’s early days in her journey to become a head nurse, leaving bodies in her wake. ©Netflix The series received four Emmy nominations, but even that wasn’t enough to save it. Break Point It’s no secret that Netflix isn’t necessarily known for its sports-related programming, so that could be why the streamer canceled Break Point, a docuseries that followed pro tennis players as they prepped and prepared for major tournaments. The series did get two seasons before Deadline reported its cancellation in March. ©Netflix Deadline reported that producers became frustrated with what it took to feature tennis’ biggest names on the show and it failed to cover one of the biggest stories of the last few years when Novak Djokovic failed to enter the Australian Open after refusing the COVID vaccine. Viewing figures were also reportedly slow. The Brothers Sun The Brothers Sun certainly had a star-studded cast going for it with Michelle Yeoh, Justin Chien, and Sam Song Li. However, according to The Hollywood Reporter, Netflix still decided to cancel the series after one season. The series followed a Taipei gangster who moves to Los Angeles to protect his mother and younger brother after his father is shot by an assassin. The Brothers Sun The show premiered well on the Nielsen streaming charts and in its second week, even grew by 38 percent. It also spent five weeks in Netflix’s Top 10. The reason for its cancellation isn’t known. It’s just one of those things. Buying Beverly Hills Buying Beverly Hills, a reality real estate show, got two seasons before Netflix decided to can it. According to Deadline, Netflix decided not to renew the series back in April. The unscripted series premiered in 2022 and followed real estate agent Mauricio Umansky and his staff at The Agency, which included two of his family members. ©Netflix Deadline reported that sources confirmed that the cancellation was because of viewing numbers versus how expensive the show was to produce. Sometimes, those are just the breaks. Everything Now According to Tech Radar, Netflix canceled Everything Now back in April. The teen drama show was praised by critics and viewers, and there were even reports that a writer’s room was in place for season 2, but Netflix canceled after its first season. ©Netflix According to one of the show’s stars, Dylan Brady, the show didn’t have the numbers Netflix wanted to see. “We had some great ideas,” Brady said. “But we are at the mercy of the algorithm, I’m afraid.” At the time, Brady shared thoughts about this kind of numbers-driven system, saying that TV had historically worked differently with a slow, consistent growth over several seasons as opposed to this kind of mentality we see now where it’s like, ‘if it doesn’t get 16 million views in the first 28 days, it’s not worth anyone’s while.” My Dad the Bounty Hunter The animated series My Dad the Bounty Hunter was also canceled by Netflix after just two seasons. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Netflix quietly canceled it in June. The series was co-created by Pixar veteran Everett Downing, Jr., and followed two children who stow away on their father’s business trip only to discover he’s an intergalactic bounty hunter. ©Netflix Although the series had “decent” numbers for Netflix and made the top 10 the week after its second season premiered, Netflix still decided to pull the plug. The Hollywood Reporter did suggest that Netflix has been slowly pulling back on original programming for kids and families over the past few years. Dead Boy Detectives Perhaps the most shocking cancellation to come from Netflix was when the streamer canceled Dead Boy Detectives after just one season. The series, which followed two ghosts who run a detective agency for other ghosts, spent three weeks on Netflix’s top 10 and ranked among Nielsen’s top 10 original streaming series twice after it premiered. The reasoning behind this cancellation, though, could be more nuanced. ©Netflix Recently, show creator Neil Gaiman has come under fire after sexual assault allegations surfaced, according to Rolling Stone. Since then, Variety reported that Disney+ has halted production on his movie The Graveyard Book. Another Gaiman-led show, Good Omens, which is on Amazon, has also had its third season pre-production paused, although Gaimam has since reportedly offered to step back from the series, according to Deadline. It’s unclear if Netflix canceled the series due to the allegations, especially with the second season of the Gaiman-led Sandman still in production for the streamer. It just goes to show that you don’t know what’s happening behind the scenes with shows that get cancellations, but, as viewers, it does make it hard to commit to a show unless it already has a few seasons under its belt. It might be time that streaming services handle shows in a different way because otherwise, we’ll just end up with a rotating door of shows that no one wants to watch. Stay tuned to DFB for more. 8. Some pretty massive changes are coming to Magic Kingdom. Villains Land Concept Art ©Disney Disney has confirmed two new lands are coming to Magic Kingdom — a Villains Land and a Cars Land! These new lands will undoubtedly include multiple new attractions, restaurants, and tons of new merch. Now, even though they’ve confirmed a TON, there is one attraction we’d love come to these new expansions as well! As we were saying, at the Destination D23 event in September 2023, Josh D’Amaro, the president of Disney Experiences, confirmed that Disney would be bringing both a Villains Land and a Cars Land to Magic Kingdom. So, let’s look at what has already been confirmed for these lands and then we can get into what we’re hoping Disney will bring to the park too! About the Villains Land, Disney has shared that TWO major attractions, along with new dining and shopping experiences will be presented “on an incredibly twisted grand scale.” ©Disney — Will this be where the new dining and shopping experiences will be? We’re still waiting for all the official deets on the new attractions, restaurants, gift shops, and more, but that didn’t stop us from trying to do a deep dive into the concept art for all the tasty tidbits we could find. Now as to where it’ll be located, Disney shared that “guests will be able to venture Beyond Big Thunder Mountain into an all-new land dedicated to Disney Villains.” RCID Comprehensive Plan map and map of Magic Kingdom’s Frontierland So, yes! We finally got confirmation that it’ll be past Big Thunder Mountain Railroad! Now, let’s go over what’s confirmed about the Cars Land. ©Disney This new land will bring with it two NEW Cars attractions! For the first attraction, we’re going to race through the mountains on wild terrain along mountain trails as we dodge geysers and splash through mud holes. The second ride will be geared toward “smaller racers” and will be fun for the whole family! As to where this land is going to go, Disney shared that this new land will be replacing Tom Sawyer Island and the Rivers of America in Frontierland. Map of where the new Cars area will be While we don’t have an official timeline for when the Cars expansion will open, Disney has already confirmed that work on the area will begin in early 2025, and we saw that the first permits were filed in August 2024 to start the process. Now, both of these lands sound great and all, but let’s talk about what we’re dreaming of for Magic Kingdom: A proper villains dark ride. Let’s go over some of the ideas we had for this ride: A “Fantasia” Villains Dark Ride: Could you imagine stepping into the swirling, mysterious world of Fantasia’s dark elements? Picture the Night on Bald Mountain scene, with Chernabog towering over you, summoning spirits and flames. The whole thing could be this eerie, orchestral experience with stunning visuals and immersive special effects. In our opinion, Fantasia is iconic, and honestly, it deserves to get its time in the spotlight. ©Disney A Trip to the Underworld with Hades: We need a ride that lets us take a trip to the Underworld, guided by none other than Hades himself, right?? Can you imagine his sarcastic one-liners as he takes you on a wild, fiery adventure through the realm of the dead? The humor, the fire effects, the possibility of run-ins with some of the most iconic Disney villains? Yes, please! ©Disney Maleficent’s Lair: Let’s not forget about the queen of all Disney villains — Maleficent. What if there was a ride that took us deep into her forbidden fortress, with thorns, fire-breathing dragons, and, of course, that iconic transformation scene? We’re all here for it, right? ©Disney These baddies aside, these new lands are really going to change the look and feel of Magic Kingdom forever! Until then, stay tuned to Disney Food Blog, where we will continue to monitor any news about the construction that will happen in Magic Kingdom. When Is Villains Land Opening in Disney World? 9. Get ready because something BIG is on the horizon at Disney World! ©Disney We’ve been tracking the progress of the latest expansion to Disney World hotel offerings and the Disney Vacation Club community for months. Our excitement grew even more when Disney gave us a sneak peek at what these rooms will look like inside and they’ve already announced when this new addition will officially open! However, one big question we were left with was WHEN current and potential DVC members would be able to purchase and book this new tower addition and it seems as if finally have some answers! The Island Tower at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort Villas and Bungalows will be the latest in Disney World to join the DVC line of hotels. Ever since the first concepts of the plans for this new tower addition were rolled out, we’ve been excitedly tracking its construction progress looking for any details we could find! Now that the construction is beginning to wind down, Disney’s released more information on burning questions we still had left unanswered about when we will be able to visit this new hotel expansion. Artist Rendering — Wailulu Bar & Grill © Disney The new tower will sit adjacent to the current buildings for Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort, however, it will certainly be the tallest addition for the hotel to date. Its rooms will be filled with hidden details (and Mickeys), beautiful flowing decor, and calming neutral and blue hues inspired by the South Pacific Islands! If you’re looking to claim this as your next vacation home when visiting Disney World, the first day of the tower’s opening will be December 17th, 2024. Island Tower at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort construction Although Disney already gave us a peek into what we can expect to see inside each of the rooms, we had yet to learn when current and potential DVC members will be able to purchase contracts for the new tower and use their vacation points to book their first stay here — until now. ©Disney Disney has just announced the timeline of when these purchases and bookings will begin — let’s break it down together! Sales for contracts to current Disney Vacation Club members will begin starting October 1st. Starting October 15th, Disney Vacation Club current owners with existing and active contracts at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort Villas and Bungalows AND those who have added-on a contract for this hotel will be able to use their DVC points to book. October 29th is when the public will be able to book these new rooms. New DVC members at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resorts Villas & Bungalows will be able to book with their points starting November 5th, followed by all current DVC members open to booking with their DVC points as of November 19th. ©Disney Disney has released the points chart for the Island Tower as well, which you can check out below! ©Disney We’re really excited to book our first stay here and take a look at all this new addition has to offer to the Seven Seas Lagoon hotels, and check out the Happily Ever After fireworks from its surely stunning views! In typical Disney fashion, they’re planning big with new lands, new attractions, and fresh experiences for the next generation of Disney fans. On the face of it, all of these things sound amazing, right? Well, not everyone thinks so. Let’s talk about it! As we were saying, there’s a TON that’ll be coming to Magic Kingdom like a new nighttime parade and two whole new lands — a Cars Land and a Villains Land!! Villains Land Concept Art ©Disney Now, while we can’t wait to tromp about these new spaces and enjoy all they have to offer, these announcements have definitely sparked some serious debates among Disney lovers. ©Disney On one side, we’ve got the group of fans who are pumped for the changes, and they’re hyping themselves up for the new rides and lands. But on the flip side, some longtime Disney fans are absolutely heartbroken about what they’ll have to give up — specifically, Tom Sawyer Island and Rivers of America. Concept Art It’s nostalgia vs. new standoff, and it’s absolutely got the fandom split. The Excitement for the New Let’s start with the folks who are ready and raring to embrace the future. For them, Disney has a solid track record for creating immersive new lands that make guests feel like they’ve stepped straight into the movies they love. They’re referencing the mind-blowing detail of Galaxy’s Edge and the enchantment of Pandora — The World of Avatar. You can see why they’re imagining a Cars Land where you can race with your favorite Cars characters, and a Villains Land where you finally get to meet the baddies in a dark and thrilling atmosphere. Coming Coming to Frontierland at Magic Kingdom, a new area themed to Pixar Animation Studios’ “Cars” will leave Radiator Springs and head to the wilderness with two new attractions including an off-road race. These are the people who can’t wait and are speculating how Disney will use next-level technology to create new jaw-dropping attractions for these lands. So, all in all, for them, these announcements have been a dream come true. At the same time, however, they may have some fond memories of Tom Sawyer Island, but they’re all about trading that nostalgia for something brand new straight from the minds of Imagineers. The Nostalgia for the Old As we said, there’s another side to this — all the fans who are devastated about what Disney is choosing to leave behind. For many of them, Tom Sawyer Island and Rivers of America are irreplaceable pieces of Disney history. These aren’t just attractions, they’re memories. The slower pace of these areas offers a serene escape from the hustle and bustle of the rest of the park, and to some, losing them feels like a betrayal of Disney’s roots. Map of where the new Cars area will be These fans feel like Disney could have easily built the new attractions somewhere else — maybe in another part of the park or, better yet, in a fifth park altogether. They feel that there’s plenty of space around Disney World, so why get rid of beloved classics? For them, the idea of losing these slower, more peaceful areas in favor of another high-energy land feels like the park is losing some of its unique charm. A Divided Fandom Like we said, if nothing else, these announcements has definitely left the Disney fan community divided. While some are eagerly counting down the days to run around the new Cars and Villains Lands, we’ve got others who are mourning the loss of some simpler and more nostalgic parts of the park. Ultimately it’s the battle of out with the old, and in with the new. Villains Land coming to Magic Kingdom ©Disney What are your thoughts on the matter? 15. We are headed to Disney Springs to try out some NEW snacks for Hispanic and Latin American Heritage Month! ©Disney This year there are OVER 30 new snacks coming to the Disney Parks. We think these were incredible and a great value for the price. You get lots of DELICIOUS food! The Tostones Nachos have a great amount of Indian spice to them, but they also have lots of Latin flair in them. eet by Maneet Chauhan Now, let’s head over to The Polite Pig to try out their Blueberry Margarita Churros. You can get these churros for $7 and they are cream cheese-filled churros dusted with cinnamon and sugar, drizzled with a blueberry margarita syrup. Blueberry Margarita Churros These are some of the crunchiest churros we have probably ever had. They are very well baked! Soft on the inside, yet super crunchy on the outside. We were so impressed with the texture. However, we were disappointed in the flavors of the churro itself. Blueberry Margarita Churros The churros are cream filled on the inside, but we didn’t get much beyond a slight cream cheese flavor. The blueberry margarita flavor is mostly in the blueberries that are scattered around the churros. The blueberries taste like they have been soaking in the margarita syrup and almost all the flavor comes from them. They are a little tart and have wonderful flavor. To really enjoy the flavor of this dish, make sure you are eating the blueberries and the churro all in one bite! Blueberry Margarita Churros Finally, we are headed to the Cilantro Food Truck to try the Mexican Street Corn. The Mexican Street Corn is elote on the cob, lime, mayo, cotija cheese, chile-lime seasoning, and cilantro and you can get it for $7. Mexican Street Corn We saved one of the best for last (although we are also still thinking about those Tostones Nachos from eet by Maneet Chauhan). This Mexican Street Corn was amazing. You can taste the lime, the Tajin, and the cotija cheese. All on top of the creamy mayonnaise. It was delicious and some of the best Mexican Street Corn we have had in Orlando. Mexican Street Corn It wasn’t super runny or buttery to where everything ran off. All the ingredients stayed on the corn, and it was completely coated. We can’t give enough compliments to how well coated this Mexican Street Corn was. This snack hit it out of the park, and we would definitely come back for another one. While it is a bit pricey at $7, it was REALLY tasty! Mexican Street Corn We had a successful day trying some new snacks at Disney Springs! The Tostones Nachos from eet by Maneet Chauhan and the Mexican Street Corn from the Cilantro Food Truck definitely topped our list. Stay tuned to DFB for even more Disney food reviews! 16. Are you planning a Disney World trip for 2025? Well, you don’t have much longer to plan because 2025 will be here before you know it. Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort Maybe you’ve worked out your budget and thought about how long you want to stay at Disney World. But have you put a lot of thought into where you’ll stay? Picking out the right hotel for you and your group could be the most important decision you make. If you plan on staying on Disney World property, though, some hotels are clear winners over others for 2025, and we’re going to tell you why. Before we get to our list of the best hotels for 2025, we’ll tell you how we came up with these choices. First, we looked at hotels that will have construction happening in or around them in 2025 so we could delete them from the list. Then, we looked at our readers’ most popular personal preferences, including some fan-favorite Disney World hotels, as well as anything NEW coming to Disney World hotels in 2025. So, let’s get on with it, shall we? Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort We’re starting with a deluxe hotel because you might want to stay at a deluxe resort that’s just a quick Monorail ride away from Magic Kingdom and EPCOT. Our pick is the Polynesian because the theming is ON POINT, and the new Disney Vacation Club villas will be opening at the end of 2024, so you can book them for 2025. The Island Tower at the Polynesian will offer rooms with plenty of space if you have a larger group. Island Tower Not only can you book duo studios, but you’ll also be able to book one- and two-bedroom villas that will feature a full kitchen, outdoor patio, and even your own washer and dryer. The new tower will also have two-bedroom penthouse villas with views of Seven Seas Lagoon and Magic Kingdom. SEE INSIDE the NEW Rooms at Disney’s Polynesian Tower in Disney World Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa If money is no object, then we say book the YOLO hotel, the Grand Floridian, one of the most expensive hotels on Disney World property. This hotel is LUSH and even has its own spa if you want to treat yourself even better during your Disney World vacation. It’s also on the Monorail and features Mary Poppins-themed rooms—what’s not to love? Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa Also, 1900 Park Fare just recently reopened, so if you want an elevated character dining experience (and strawberry soup), you’ll have it right there. There’s also some excellent fine dining here, including Narcoossee’s and the Michelin-starred Victoria & Albert’s. FULL REVIEW: The Changes at 1900 Park Fare Are DIVISIVE, but This Updated Disney World Restaurant Won Us Over! The Cabins at Fort Wilderness Disney’s The Cabins at Fort Wilderness have officially opened, and they’re perfect for a 2025 stay if you have a group you’re bringing along with you. Each cabin can sleep up to six adults and include one bedroom, one bathroom, a living room, a full kitchen, and a private patio. NEW Fort Wilderness Cabins! Even better? If you’re bringing a furry companion with you, some cabins are even dog-friendly. The cabins also feature a lot of fun rustic detailing that makes you feel like you’re camping but with a roof over your head. FULL TOUR: We Got an Exclusive Look at the NEW Fort Wilderness Cabins in Disney World! Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin The Swan and Dolphin is pretty much our fave hotel NOT owned by Disney on Disney World property. First, you get the same perks (Early Theme Park Entry and Extended Evening Hours) that you would get at a Disney-owned deluxe hotel at prices that are generally lower than what you would pay at a Disney World deluxe hotel. Oh, and it’s also a Marriott property, meaning you can earn Marriott Bonvoy rewards points, as well as use them on stays (which could lower your cost even more). Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin The location of this hotel is also one of the best in Disney World. It’s in the EPCOT area, meaning you can walk to all the other hotels in the EPCOT area, as well as EPCOT and the EPCOT Skyliner station. You have access to a lot of great dining at the Swan and Dolphin, but you can also eat at the numerous other restaurants in the area or on the Skyliner route. It’s a win-win! 3 Reasons Why We Stay at the Swan and Dolphin Hotel Again and Again in Disney World Disney’s Pop Century Resort We love being close to the Skyliner in Disney World, so why not stay at a hotel with Skyliner access? The good news is that you can stay at a value resort and get that. Granted, the Skyliner DOES usually temporarily close in January for a few days for refurbishment, but you should have access to it (weather permitting) through the rest of the year. We also love Pop Century for its fun over-the-top decades theming, but something NEW is coming to Pop Century soon, too. Pop Century is such a fun resort The food court at Pop Century is under renovation, which means it will be freshly updated in 2025. Now, we don’t know if that means you’ll have new menu options (we can only hope), but the renovations could mean this is the value resort to stay at next year! This is also one of the few Disney World hotels that still has its own special themed dessert, the Tie-Dye Cheesecake. Why Disney Adults Can’t Stay Away From Pop Century Hotel Disney’s All-Star Movies Resort Let’s say you’re on a serious budget or just don’t want to spend a lot of money on your hotel room. Disney’s cheapest resorts are the All-Star Resorts, but we have a favorite. That’s Disney’s All-Star Movies Resort. Why is this our favorite? Because we think it has the best theming when compared to the other All-Star Resorts. It’s all about Disney movies? What’s not to love about that? Toy Story at Disney’s All-Star Movies Resort Disney’s All-Star Movies features sections devoted to Fantasia (plus a Fantasia-inspired pool), Toy Story, 101 Dalmations, The Love Bug, and The Mighty Ducks. The rooms are identical to Disney’s other value resorts, but the theming is where this hotel wins our hearts. FULL TOUR of an All-Star Movies Standard Hotel Room in Disney World! 18. Several rides and attractions have been closing for refurbishment in Disney World, but it’s not the only Disney resort to experience these closures. Disneyland Over at Disneyland, you’ll find a lot of similar rides as in Disney World especially classics like “it’s a small world,” the Jungle Cruise, Pirates of the Caribbean, and others. As the original Disney park, it’s visited every day by many visitors who come to experience the Happiest Place on Earth. However, starting today, September 16th, two of the classic Disney rides will be closing for refurbishment. The Jungle Cruise and “it’s a small world” are both now closed in Disneyland Park for refurbishment. Jungle Cruise will reopen on October 4th, before “it’s a small world.” This means that as of today, both Jungle Cruises on either U.S. coast are currently closed for maintenance. Jungle Cruise in Disneyland “it’s a small world” in Disneyland will reopen on November 15th as “it’s a small world” Holiday! When you ride this attraction again it will be decorated with the holiday overlay for the Christmas and holiday season. “it’s a small world” Holiday Overlay 2023 Temporary closures like these for refurbishment are common at the Disney parks. They allow for regular maintenance and checkups on the rides to ensure everything is working properly. This provides guests with safe rides and experiences. “it’s a small world” Holiday 2023 While these rides are closed, you can jump on the many other rides around the Disneyland park. Other popular favorites include Pirates of the Caribbean, Space Mountain, Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, Mr. Toad’s Wild Ride, Peter Pan’s Flight, and others. There is still lots to do and experience around the park while these two rides are closed. 19. One thing The Walt Disney Company does is embrace other industries, especially fashion. Disneyland Paris 30th anniversary fireworks show Disney is always teaming up with fashion designers for clothing, accessories, shoes, and more. So it shouldn’t come as a surprise that Disney is teaming up with a big fashion designer to bring fashion design directly to its parks in a brand new way known as “fashiontainment.” Yep, there’s a new made-up word for the experience and everything. Basically, you’ll soon be able to experience a fashion runway IN a Disney theme park, because why not? According to The New York Times, fashiontainment is a new thing where fashion leaves the runway and makes its way into entertainment spaces. This is the time of year when designers usually hit up the runways for Fashion Week, but this year, they’re taking their fashion to other spaces. For example, designer Ralph Lauren recently held a show in the Hamptons at Khalily Stables. CFDA has teamed up with New York’s Rockefeller Center to build a storied ice rink that will show off its fashion to everyone. The Apollo Theater is hosting Colm Dillane’s new collection in a night of comedy. ©Ralph Lauren Disney is also jumping on the fashiontainment train, though. Fashion label Coperni is bringing a fashion show on October 1st to Disneyland Paris. It’s likely there will be a Cinderella theme. It’s also likely a lot of celebrities will be on hand to check out the collection. ©Disney So could we expect to see fashion shows come to Orlando or Anaheim? Well, it’s doubtful. Disneyland Paris makes sense as Paris is considered the fashion capital of the world. So don’t expect to see Mickey or Minnie strutting down the catwalk anytime soon in the U.S. parks (although we would argue that Clarabelle and Daisy were MADE to be runway models). 20. Are you an EXTREME Disney fan? ©Disney If you’ve always dreamed of living in a house from a Disney movie, now’s your chance! Disney is in the process of constructing multiple Storyliving by Disney communities with homes designed in part by Imagineers. Each house has plenty of magical touches…but some buildings in the communities are a little extra special! Cotino, a Storyliving by Disney Community, is set to open in 2025. We’ve seen some glimpses at the houses coming to the community, but now we’ve got a closer look at the Artisan Club, which takes inspiration from a Disney family! ©Disney Part of the Artisan Club, the Parr House, is inspired by the mid-century modern home from Pixar’s Incredibles 2. According to Disney, “The two-story house will be a multi-functional space where club members can attend events, celebrate milestones, and even enjoy an occasional overnight stay.” The Artisan Club will be a go-to gathering place for members of the community and their guests, with spaces dedicated to dining, creative pursuits, working out, water recreation, and unique programs. ©Disney The Parr House is constructed in the mid-century modern style and features a “rich mix of textures and colors.” Imagineers have even planned to add in a few props inspired by Incredibles 2 that Disney fans will appreciate. The color palette matches the characters and settings from the film — each of the bedrooms will feature the signature style of the characters, including Edna Mode, Lucius Best aka “Frozone,” and the Parr kids Jack-Jack, Violet, and Dash. The first floor of the home even features an art studio! ©Disney The Parr House’s massive windows will give an excellent view of Cotino Bay, and an elevated patio will have stunning views of the surrounding mountains. It’ll be the perfect place to gather and celebrate special occasions with your family! ©Disney We’ll make sure to keep you updated with any more information about Cotino and its many special features. 22. Single rider lines in Disney World are a fantastic way to skip a (usually) long standby line. Single Rider lines can save you the wait! There’s a caveat, though — you have to be willing to be split up from your party because, as the name suggests, there’s only one person needed to fill in the empty seat in the ride vehicle. Not every ride has a single-rider line either (although we would love to see more in the parks), and while we appreciate the ones we have, there’s one particular single-rider line that can be both a blessing and a curse at the same time. To start off, we feel we need to list all the rides with single-rider lines in each of the parks: Expedition Everest (Animal Kingdom) Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster (Hollywood Studios) Millennium Falcon: Smuggler’s Run (Hollywood Studios) Soarin’ (EPCOT; only sometimes!) Rise of the Resistance (Hollywood Studios; being tested periodically) Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge We were really excited to see a single-rider option for Millennium Falcon offered right off the bat when the ride opened, and we’ve used it many, many times since. It’s rare to see a long wait for single riders — in fact, we’ve had more times where we walk right up and only wait a few minutes until we’re boarding! Single Rider Sign So why do so many families and groups of friends choose to wait in that long standby line or purchase Lightning Lane Multi Pass and book a return time? Well, for one, this ride is REALLY fun to do with your group since you’re all working together to complete the mission, and what you do really affects your outcome! If you hop in the single rider line, you’ll be placed with a group of strangers. It doesn’t take away from the fun, but it’s just a different experience. Millennium Falcon Single Rider Line One of the biggest draws of this ride is getting to pilot the Millennium Falcon — almost every Star Wars fan’s dream. When the Cast Members assign who is doing each job on the ship, they assign it front to back, which goes 2 Pilots, 2 Gunners, and 2 Engineers. This means that since Single Riders are typically put in last, you’ll almost always be an Engineer. Inside the Millennium Falcon! There’s nothing wrong with being an Engineer, especially if you’re not a huge Star Wars fan, or you’d rather watch the chaos unfold in front of you, being an Engineer may be perfect. However, suppose it’s been your dream to pilot the Millennium Falcon or at least be a Gunner. In that case, you’ll likely be very unhappy with the single-rider line, and it’ll be more worth waiting in the regular queue or booking that Lighting Lane Multi Pass return time. Millennium Falcon It’s always possible that other members of the group you’re put with will want to switch with you, and you’ll get to be one of the other positions (which is allowed!), but if we’re being honest, that’s pretty rare. Now, since the single-rider line usually doesn’t take any time at all, you can just get in line over and over again in the hopes that you’ll eventually get to be a Pilot or Gunner if you’re really against waiting in line or don’t want to spend any more money, but it may take a little while! 24. Something happened to me during my last trip to Disney World. I felt OLD. Eek! Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party Don’t worry. I don’t kid myself. I know I’m no 20-year-old anymore. But for the first time in my decades of going to Disney World, I left Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party early. And do you know what? I have no regrets. Here’s why. OK, before I explain myself, I should point out that if you’re a Halloween Party newbie or haven’t been to Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party in a while, my story may sound a little shocking. I want to make it clear that I fully support the idea of sticking around at the party as long as possible — get your money’s worth, people! That said, I know I’m not alone in feeling like my body reached a point when it was simply time to go. This calls for a storytime! Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party is a seasonal Magic Kingdom event that requires a separate ticket for entry. The event happens on select nights from August 9th through October 31st. During the event, you can enjoy exclusive treats and entertainment only available for the Halloween season! Halloween fireworks Some fan-favorite highlights of the event include trick-or-treating in the Magic Kingdom, the party-exclusive Boo-To-You Halloween Parade (which starts with an appearance by the Headless Horseman), and rare character meet-and-greets. For me, the Boo-To-You Halloween Parade is worth the entire price of the ticket. I adore that parade. I’ll never miss it. Boo-To-You Halloween Parade Speaking of tickets, they’re kind of expensive. Now, I visited Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party in mid-August (remember this, OK?), so my ticket was around $119. The parties later in the season are much more expensive — we’re talking $199 per adult ticket. Naturally, when you’re spending that kind of money, you will want to make sure you show up early and squeeze in as many things as possible to make the most of the event. The good news is that Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party begins at 7PM and ends at midnight; however, party guests may enter the Magic Kingdom at 4PM. Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party Now, here’s where my story begins. I was in Disney World for a quick trip — three nights, four days. I didn’t want to miss my chance to visit Disney’s Animal Kingdom, so I slotted in a visit for the morning of my Halloween Party. I got up bright and early, rope-dropped Animal Kingdom, hit Flight of Passage, rode the safari, rode Expedition Everest, and stopped by to ride Dinosaur (three times in a row) for good measure. After a filling lunch at Flame Tree Barbecue, I headed back to my hotel for an afternoon break before the party. On paper, this all seemed like a great idea. Mac and Cheese with Pulled Pork…DUH! But, inevitably, my “afternoon break” was shorter than anticipated. Just as I was starting to cool down in the AC, it was time to start getting ready for the Halloween Party. I wanted to be out the door and at the bus stop by 2:30PM to get to Magic Kingdom as early as possible. (I have an Annual Pass, so I did not need to wait until 4PM to enter the Magic Kingdom with my Halloween Party ticket.) Bus stop at All-Star Movies I’ll spare you every little detail of my afternoon, but I’ll sum it up with one word: BUSY! By the time Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party officially started, I had already accomplished a lot, but there was plenty left to do. I thought I was in good shape! Haunted Mansion As the night progressed, I efficiently checked off item after item on my to-do list. Rode a few rides? Check. Visited some characters? Check. Grabbed a snack? Check. Watched the parade? Check. Fireworks? Saw ’em. Halloween Party souvenirs acquired? Yep. Trick-or-treated? DUH. Madame Leota Séance Candle By about 10:30PM, I had done everything I wanted to do. Did I meet every single character? No. Did I ride every single ride? Also no. But A.) It was August. It was HOT outside. B.) I was exhausted. I walked at least 25,000 steps that day, and C.) I did everything I wanted to do that night. So, sure, I could have pushed myself to ride a few more rides. I could have trick-or-treated a little longer. I could have stayed for the second parade. But, at a certain point, I asked myself, “Why?” The lesson I took away from that night was that it is okay to leave the party early! I ended up leaving around 10:45PM, and I had no regrets. The party is a blast! There is plenty to keep you busy during the party, but once you’ve seen and done everything on your list, there’s no shame in heading back to get a good night’s sleep! Take it from me — a typical *rope-drop til park close* person — it’s OK to give your body a break. ESPECIALLY in the heat! If you’re heading to a party this season, enjoy! And maybe don’t rope-drop a park the same morning as your party, yeah? Photos AND Reviews: ALL the 2024 Fall and Halloween Treats in Disney World! IT'S SPOOK-TACULAR! 25. Grab your super suit, it’s time to be incredible! We’re excited to share a first look at what the Parr House at Cotino, the first Storyliving by Disney community, will look like when it’s scheduled to open in 2025. Part of the community’s voluntary Artisan Club, Parr House is inspired by the superhero family’s stunning mid-century modern home in Pixar Animation Studios’ “Incredibles 2.” The two-story house will be a multi-functional space where club members can attend events, celebrate milestones and even enjoy an occasional overnight stay. The community’s Artisan Club will be a go-to gathering place for members and their guests with engaging spaces dedicated to delicious dining, exploring creative pursuits, working out, water recreation on Cotino Bay, and unique programs and experiences that only Disney can provide. Coming to life in the beautiful Palm Springs area, renowned for its mid-century modern architecture, Parr House will represent a full 360 moment – Pixar artists visited the region while dreaming up the original design for the Parr family’s home in “Incredibles 2” and now, a home inspired by the film is being built in the same place! Parr House living room Mid-Century Modern Design: Honoring a Local Legacy When it came time to start designing the Parr House, Disney Imagineers and Pixar artists collaborated to bring the spirit of the film to life with a creative interpretation of the mid-century modern design the Palm Springs area is known for. Parr House view from Cotino Bay To bring the home’s inspiration out of the animated “Incredibles” universe and into the real world, Imagineers will use a rich mix of textures and colors. The home’s interior will incorporate the hallmarks of mid-century modern design, clean lines, natural light and functional furniture, while adding artistic flair in the finishes, artwork and décor. From a primary bedroom fit for Mr. Incredible and Elastigirl to the family kitchen and open living room, it will be an extraordinary home we know Edna Mode would just love, dah-ling! Memorable Moments: Recalling Favorite Film Details Looking at the renderings, you may even recognize a few familiar details sprinkled throughout the space… Since the Parr House is inspired by our favorite super family, Imagineers are planning to add in a few special film props like boxes of Sugar Bombs and Fiber O’s cereal stacked on the kitchen shelf and the family’s schedule scribbled on the Insuricare calendar. Can you spot them in the rendering below? Parr House kitchen It’s all about the details as Imagineers have poured over original concept art from the film to find special details and unique decorative items to bring this home to life. Even the design color palette is reflective of the film’s iconic characters and settings. In communal areas like the living room and kitchen, tones of red, black and yellow will pay homage to the family’s iconic super suits while upstairs, each of the bedrooms will reflect the style of “Incredibles” characters including Edna Mode, Lucius Best aka “Frozone” and the Parr kids Jack-Jack, Violet and Dash. The first-floor art studio will celebrate the Cotino community’s overall theme as a creative oasis – a place to relax, retreat and explore new ambitions. The idea was inspired by Walt Disney himself, who retreated to his family home in the Palm Springs area to rest and creatively recharge. From Screen to Street: How the Parr House is Being Built How did this superhero home go from animation to active construction project? Imagineers enlisted the help of Cotino community homebuilder Davidson Communities to help build the Parr House. Leadership from Davidson Communities, Storyliving by Disney and Walt Disney Imagineering gathered to celebrate the start of construction on the Parr House. Artist concept rendering, not yet constructed and subject to change. Together, the design teams plan to adapt some of the home’s iconic features, like the floor-to-ceiling windows and climbing rock work in the living room, to the real world. The home’s expansive windows will provide unmatched views of Cotino Bay, the jewel of the community that will feature the clearest turquoise waters with Crystal Lagoons technology. Because the home’s exterior will be so recognizable, Imagineers wanted the interior view of the outside to be equally impressive. Beyond the beautiful windows, an elevated patio will offer a picturesque place for outdoor events with spectacular water and mountain views. Currently under construction, this incredible Artisan Club amenity is expected to open in 2025.
