Disneyland Resort has a lot going on! Pixar Place Hotel There are new shows and characters coming soon for the 70th Anniversary of the Disney park, and that’s just scratching the surface! With all of the new things coming, we need a hearty grab-and-go breakfast before all of the fun, and we think we found the perfect one. Over at Pixar Place Hotel, you can find Sketch Pad Cafe right off the entrance of the hotel. The cafe is themed with concept art from Pixar films all over the walls! Sketch Pad Cafe This spot offers simple coffees, teas, pastries, grab-and-go options, and a few hot breakfast items. They even offer a “make your own cold brew” that you can top off with edible rainbow glitter! The menu might be more limited but we have enjoyed it when we’ve stopped by in the past. ©Disney For our latest visit, we went simpler with our breakfast to see if it still holds up before a big park day. To drink, we grabbed a simple Cold Brew with caramel and heavy cream for $5. This drink was perfectly sweet! This writer has a sweet tooth, though, so if you like more sharper coffee flavor, skip the caramel. It was creamy and easy to drink, plus it did the job in a tasty way. The cold brew! To pair with our drink, we grabbed the Meat Lovers Breakfast Wrap for $8, which we really enjoyed! They were generous with the meat, which made it filling for hours after we had breakfast. The sausage was flavorful thanks to the spices, and there was enough bacon that the flavors balanced well without one overpowering the other. The meat lovers wrap! There was also a generous amount of hashbrowns and eggs inside the wrap. The hashbrowns also added a great starchiness to balance the meat and the eggs, luckily, didn’t offer much flavor. We would rather have a lack of flavor than a rubbery flavor, which we have seen with Disney World resort eggs in the past. The flour tortilla was dyed red, adding a fun Pixar touch without changing the flavor. A look inside! This breakfast won’t knock your socks off, but it will keep you full and satisfied for hours. We would happily get this meal again before our short walk over to the parks from this hotel, especially if we’re rope dropping! It was simple, tasty, and did the job. Disney’s Pop Century Resort is a popular hotel for plenty of reasons. Disney’s Pop Century Resort It’s got plenty of cute theming, it’s pretty cheap as far as Disney World hotels go, and it’s along the Skyliner route — which is pretty hard to beat. But, it’s actually the Skyliner’s fault we’re gathered here today. You see, Pop Century is in desperate need of a rule change — and it’s all because of that darn gondola system. Hey, Pop Century, we love ya — but we need to talk. Adding a Skyliner stop to this hotel (which is shared with Art of Animation) was a super clutch move, but now there are no other Disney transportation options to EPCOT or Hollywood Studios, since both of those parks feature Skyliner stops. Pop Century’s current rules only allow for bus transportation to these parks when the Skyliner is not operating. And, while we understand that makes sense in theory, we can’t help but feel like this definitely warrants a rule change. Disney’s Pop Century Resort The Skyliner can be extremely useful and efficient for getting people to and from the parks and hotels. But, so are buses! They can transport a lot of people at once, and while they don’t have the advantage of being able to bypass regular traffic by soaring through the skies, some people prefer bus transportation over the Skyliner at Disney World. Skyliner There are plenty of folks on our team who have a fear of heights and don’t love the Skyliner for that reason, but even for people who don’t necessarily have a fear of heights, the Skyliner can still be a source of unease. While it won’t run in inclement weather or severe storms, there have been times we’ve experienced the Skyliner on a particularly windy day — and it certainly isn’t pleasant. International Gateway Skyliner The Skyliner can also be riddled with frequent stops, leaving you stuck in the air for an indefinite amount of time, which is never really fun, either. That’s especially true if you’re stuck in there with strangers or kiddos who aren’t having the best time. Buses might not be fancy, but they’re much more reliable than the Skyliner on any given day. Walt Disney World Skyliner If you’ve got an upcoming stay at Pop Century and aren’t keen on taking the Skyliner to Hollywood Studios or EPCOT, you’ve still got options. You can drive to these parks or take a rideshare service or Minnie Van. If you’re heading to EPCOT, you can take a bus to Magic Kingdom and then hop on the Monorail to EPCOT as well. And, while we don’t recommend this because it’s time consuming, you could take a bus to Disney Springs, then another bus to a Disney World hotel with bus service to EPCOT and Hollywood Studios. Pop Century Keep in mind that if it is raining or there is severe weather, Disney will close the Skyliner and provide bus transportation to all parks. But, if you ask us, we think they should offer buses to all the parks, all the time! We’ll be on the lookout for the latest hotel updates and more from Disney World. When it comes to deciding where you should dine at Disney World, the possibilities are almost endless. While visiting Disney World is special on its own, sometimes you’re looking for ways to make those moments truly shine. Finding that “glass slipper fit” for your special meal while you’re at Disney World might include something a bit more upscale and luxurious, but does it live up to the hype? Cinderella’s Royal Table We recently stopped by Cinderella’s Royal Table at Magic Kingdom to see if this restaurant lives up to its hype, and now we’re bringing you our FULL review. Is it worth finding the time and money to dine in the castle during your next trip to the Most Magical Place on Earth? Find out here! Atmosphere If you’ve ever dreamed of being treated to the ultimate Disney meal, you just might find what you’re looking for at Cinderella’s Royal Table. This unique restaurant is not like anything else you’ll find at Disney World because its (typically) your only peek at what it’s like to live inside a Disney castle and dine like a true prince or princess! Entrance to the restaurant You’ll start your journey by coming around to the back of Cinderella Castle, the focal point of Magic Kingdom. From there, you’ll be greeted by a wooden sign welcoming you to your check-in host for your meal. Check-in for your meal here Outside, there may not be much to look at beyond a posted menu and the host stand, but once the Cast Members have notified Cinderella that her “royal guests” have arrived, you’re invited to step INSIDE the castle into the Grand Hall. Inside the Grand Hall As you make your way through the Grand Hall of Cinderella Castle, you might just find that you’ve stepped right through the screen and directly into Cinderella’s world. The hall is filled with woven tapestries depicting Cinderella’s story… Tapestries hung on the walls …statues of armored knights guarding the entrance, coats of arms on metal shields hung above your head near the fireplace… Coats of arms on shields …and if you look real close, you might even find a few of Cinderella’s tiniest helpers peering out to have a look at who’s just arrived! Jaq & Gus! Take a few moments to really enjoy this space and have a long look around — it’s truly a spectacular sight to see and there are so many details to spot within. The Grand Hall is also where Cinderella likes to treat her special guests in person. Cinderella Don’t forget to stop by and allow her to say “hello,” pause for a quick portrait, and be sure to ask her about all the details you can find around you as you wait for your invitation upstairs and on to your table. From the staircase The main dining room can be found just up the winding staircase (but don’t worry, there’s also an elevator in use for those who may have trouble ascending the stairs easily). As you head up, you’ll spot detailed stained glass windows with Cinderella’s picture perfectly posed in the center… Detailed stained glass …as well as a stop near the top for the restaurant’s bathrooms. Ah — you’ve arrived! Welcome to the main dining room at the top of the staircase. Isn’t it spectacular?! The dining room You’ll find there are several levels making up the dining room. Take note of the carved wooden details that line the walls and frame the center of the room paired against tall archways that stretch high above you. Flags in the center of the room In the center, you’ll find surrounding kingdoms’ flags, and your server will escort you over to your plush seating. Tables Natural light is let in through a series of cascading, slim stained glass windows that overlook the entrance to Fantasyland where you might be able to spot people around the park below you. This is a popular spot to ask to be seated just before the nightly fireworks go off, too! Table by the windows During your meal you’ll be greeted by several of Cinderella’s fellow princess friends! We got the opportunity to meet with Ariel… Ariel …Jasmine… Jasmine …Sleeping Beauty or Aurora… Sleeping Beauty …and even Merida! Merida Each of the princesses are announced into the dining room, and there’s no need to hop up. As they enter, they’ll make their way around the dining room, stopping by each table for the chance to welcome you to the castle, sign autographs, and take a few photos with you! Meeting at tables Additionally, your server will also leave a few gifts from Cinderella at your table! The first being a Wishing Star (you’ll want to hold on to this one because of the wishing ceremony that will take place during your visit)… Wishing Star for the ceremony during your meal …a wand with a star at the end inscribed with “Cinderella’s Royal Table” as a commemorative souvenir… Star wand …and an autographed postcard with all of the princess’s signatures, just in case you’ve forgotten to bring something for them to sign during your visit! Signature card But enough about the restaurant — what’s on the menu here?! Menu Dining inside Cinderella’s Royal Table is a prix fixe meal. While you’ll have a few options to choose from in each category — appetizers, entrées, and desserts, you’ll pay one set price for your meal. Adults dining here are priced at $88 for lunch and dinner while children ages 3-9 are priced at $52 plus tax and gratuity. Unless you’re using the Disney Dining Plan to pay for your meal, you’ll pay for the meal as you’re making your booking, and the taxes plus an automatic 18% gratuity will be included in your price. Menu So what exactly are your options to dine like royalty? Let’s take a closer look! You’ll start out with drinks like specialty cocktails, wines, and even a flight option (these are an extra cost)… Starting off your meal …the prix fixe appetizers, entrées, desserts, and included beverages… Main menu …and your biggest problem you’ll have while choosing your selections will most likely come from which dessert you’d like to round out your dining experience with! Specialty add-ons Of course, there are a few extended options you can spring for as accompaniments to your main meal like a few specialty non-alcoholic drinks including the So Many Wishes specialty beverage, a few wines to pair for your regal feast, and even a special dessert that’s not on the menu (so make sure you ask your server about options that may not have been revealed before you’re seated inside the castle)! And now, it’s time to talk about the true belle of the ball — the FEAST! Eats For our appetizer of the court, we started with the Slow-braised Beef. This dish is made of Carrot Purée, Red Wine-Onion Jam, and Horseradish Gremolata and we don’t think we could have made a better choice to set the tone for what was to come! Slow-braised Beef The beef was so tender, and the flavors from the juices the meat was cooked in didn’t leave each bite. While we could tell it was juicy, it wasn’t soggy or soupy, but just enough to feel like you were getting the most tender bites of a beef that mimicked a pot roast dish. Lots of flavor The carrot purée was poured around the outside as an accompaniment, while the red wine onion jam and horseradish gremolata topped the beef. Truly, if this had been a bigger plate, it could have easily served as a filling entrée on its own. Next up for our meal was the entrée royal, and we chose the Grilled Filet Mignon. It’s served with Olive Oil-whipped Potatoes, Roasted Seasonal Vegetables, and Garlic Butter, and we could see the buttery spread melt right on top of our filet in real time. Grilled Filet Mignon If you find yourself hesitating between options, the filet is a solid choice. The meat was grilled to a nice pink center at medium temperature (our request). Look at the butter melt The garlic butter melting on top of the filet soaked into each bite, and the oil-whipped potatoes were like a dream when those bites hit our taste buds. Truly, they were the highlight of the meal which surprised us. We were so full already, we didn’t know if we’d have room for dessert! The best choice we could have made yet The desserts here are called finales, and we once again found ourselves between options. While we ultimately made our selection with The Clock Strikes Twelve… The Clock Strikes Twelve …our server also asked us to highlight the Jaq & Gus Cheesecake (because it’s just too darn cute)! So we actually have a few desserts to tell you about. Jaq & Gus Cheesecake Starting off with The Clock Strikes Twelve, this dessert is made of a Chocolate Ganache Tart topped with Salted Caramel-Coffee Mousse, and you don’t have to be a coffee lover to enjoy its decadent taste. Mmm, chocolate! The creamy center tart was easily sliced through like butter, and the inside revealed the bold layers of salted caramel-coffee mousse and blue coating sitting atop the ganache-filled tart. We could certainly taste the hints of the salted-caramel coffee flavor, but they weren’t overpowering and when paired with the chocolate ganache underneath it — it mostly blended into a chocolate-lovers dream bite. Admittedly, this was a great dessert to choose but we have to give our server credit because she hit the nail on the head straight on by suggesting the Jaq & Gus Cheesecake. Inside of the cheesecake This dessert plate is almost too fun to eat! The pieces of “cheese” are made of Vanilla Cheesecake served with Fresh Fruit and Garnishes of graham cracker crumbles. Just a bite! It’s almost like digging into a deconstructed strawberry cheesecake dish and we LOVED every last bite! But truly, the speed at which we found ourselves shoveling this one into our mouths like Gus and those pieces of corn were downright comical. To really amp up the flavor, challenge yourself to get all of the elements into at least a few of your bites, especially those graham cracker crumbles! The vanilla cheesecake doesn’t have a bitter bite to it and it’s more reminiscent of a mousse consistency. We hope you were paying attention at the top of this review, because if you were you’ll remember we mentioned a SECRET menu item you won’t learn about until you’ve been seated for your meal — but, we’re not ones to gatekeep from our friends! The Cinderella White Chocolate Slipper dessert is also available at an additional cost. Cinderella White Chocolate Slipper The slipper is made of white chocolate and filled with raspberry mousse topped with edible flowers, glitter, and surrounded in a sauce of raspberry shavings. If your mouth is already watering just looking at this one, trust us when we tell you it’s even more incredible to taste. Delicious! We thought the white chocolate flavor from the slipper might be a little overbearing, but we were pleasantly surprised to be oh-so wrong. It complimented the raspberry flavor so well that it helped taper down that bit of puckery-sour taste raspberries can sometimes harbor. Truly if you’re willing to splurge a little bit more on your meal (to the tune of $25 plus tax and gratuity which totaled a little over $27), it could easily turn into a highlight of your meal here. Drinks Your prix fixe meal comes with a soft drink, but to make this review extra special we decided to pick up the So Many Wishes for $6.59. This is a non-alcoholic drink made of pomegranate-green tea, hibiscus, lemon, and a dash of stardust. So Many Wishes We were excited to order it initially but admittedly were a bit underwhelmed when it was served to our table in the same royal blue goblets as the other drinks that come along with the meal. This made us sad because when we’ve had this drink before out in other Disney World restaurants, it’s beautiful color and shimmering dust is neat to look at. The only way to tell it was a bit different was due to the fruit spear near the top of the drink. But how did it taste? Delightful! Closer up We’ve likened this sparkly drink to a pomegranate Jolly Rancher before, and we’re happy to report it’s still got it! But, we do have to say this is a very sweet drink. Our sips were most prominently flavors of pomegranate or sugar, and we only got hints of green tea or lemon flavor. If you love sweet drinks, or you’re looking for something out of the normal to try to make this experience even more special, this is a solid choice for adults and kids alike. You would probably enjoy this one without coughing up another huge chunk of change for it. Nosh or Not This Disney World restaurant is a dream if… You’ve dreamed of seeing the inside of Cinderella Castle. This is the ultimate dining experience to be dining among Cinderella and a few of her fellow Disney Princesses while enjoying a full meal from start to finish. You’re looking to make your next Disney World visit’s celebration EXTRA special! This restaurant is a popular option in general, but if you’re really looking to plus up the “WOW” factor for your next celebration on vacation, the restaurant, meal, and character meet and greets are already impressive on their own. But, there’s also a few special things you can order to enhance this even further. You favor the experience and are willing to spend a little more than usual for it. There’s no getting around the pricey cost for this experience whether you’re paying cash for it at booking or with Disney Dining Plan credits (currently, it’s 2 credits per person to visit here). But, if the experience for the meal, a more intimate meet and greet with a few Disney Princesses, and the opportunity to step inside the castle and see how Disney royalty entertain guests and dine, well, we can’t say we blame you much! You should skip this Disney World experience if… Budget conscious value is more your goal. Yes, it’s going to cost you a lot of money to dine here. We enjoyed this visit, however, it is more the experience that we crave for a repeat visit here over the food. While the food was good quality and we left with a full belly, that doesn’t mean you couldn’t get food of equal quality cheaper somewhere else. Your kids (or you) just aren’t into the more “classic” Disney Princesses. Disney Princesses have evolved over the last several years, and more and more of their storylines have moved them away from traditional medieval castles they called home. If your experience would be better placed in somewhere like Mirabel’s enchanted Casita or Moana’s island oasis on Motunui, this might feel a bit dated for what you’re looking for. The entire idea of this restaurant and its experience doesn’t blow you away on paper. This isn’t a restaurant that will please everyone, and while it is super popular, it’s a time sucker, too. If you’re someone who’s looking to spend minimal down time from your park plans, this experience will take 1-2 hours, and you may not want to give that time up. Just because it’s a frequently booked restaurant doesn’t mean it’s the right experience for everyone’s ideal vacation. It’s totally fine to spend your time finishing out your Lightning Lanes, capturing those PhotoPass photos out in the rides and walkways, and picking up a Mickey pretzel to keep moving on! Overall Overall, this is certainly a posh experience you won’t get anywhere else at Disney World. In fact, this is your only way to be invited inside Cinderella Castle as a park visitor, and truly something that most folks cherish for a lifetime even if they’re able to do it only once. Our meal We enjoyed our meal, and it was an improvement over our past experiences here. Is the meal and experience pricey? Absolutely, but may be worth the cost if you’ve ever dreamed of stepping inside of Disney World’s iconic Cinderella Castle, being greeted by several Disney Princesses, and enjoying a good meal. It’s officially Season of the Force at Disneyland Resort, and we couldn’t be more thrilled! ©Disney This special event takes place from March 28th through May 11th, 2025, and features special food and beverage options you won’t find any other time of the year, exclusive merchandise, TWO shows you won’t want to miss, and so much more. Yes, that’s right, we said TWO shows are available for you to experience this year, and we got to see both of them in the most picturesque spot. The returning show this year is the fireworks show called Fire of the Rising Moons, which only takes place on select nights during this special event, so you’ll want to check your Disneyland App to see if it’s happening on the night of your visit. Fire of the Rising Moons Watching these fireworks explode above the tall rock spires of Batuu and above the Millennium Falcon is truly an experience like no other! We highly recommend that Star Wars fans check it out if it’s available on the day of their trip. Stunning! That’s not all, though! There’s also a new show this year called Shadows of Memory: A Skywalker Saga. This is a new projection show that allows guests to “enjoy a storytelling adventure across the galaxy.” Shadows of Memory: A Skywalker Saga This show is projected on the rock spires of Batuu, and it truly transforms the area in a way we weren’t expecting! It was gorgeous to watch, both visually and emotionally, and again, we think Star Wars fans will adore it. Disney World is saying goodbye to a fan-favorite bar, and whether you loved it or never quite got the hype, its closure marks the end of an era. Jellyrolls Jellyrolls, the dueling piano bar that’s been a staple at Disney’s BoardWalk for 30 years, is closing its doors for good—at least at this location. The bar has announced that its final night at Disney will be April 19th, and while it does plan to reopen elsewhere, it won’t be on Disney property. So if you want to experience the energy, the music, and the legendary “Jellyroll of the Day” one last time at the BoardWalk, this is your last chance. Jellyrolls isn’t your typical Disney bar. It’s loud, it’s lively, and it’s known for its nightly entertainment featuring talented pianists who can play just about anything you request. Guests pack in each night to sing along, sip on specialty drinks, and soak in the electric atmosphere of two baby grand pianos going head-to-head. And if you’ve never been, let us tell you—it’s an experience unlike any other at Disney World. Jellyrolls The announcement of its closure came earlier this year, with Jellyrolls revealing that they were “making a move.” At first, it seemed like the bar might stick around through spring of 2025, but we now know that the final night will be April 19th, 2024. After that, Jellyrolls will officially be moving to a new location outside of Disney property. The exact location hasn’t been announced yet, but we’ll be keeping an eye out for updates. Jellyrolls So why is Jellyrolls leaving Disney’s BoardWalk? Disney hasn’t released an official statement, but it’s worth noting that Jellyrolls isn’t Disney-owned—it’s a third-party venue. That means this decision likely has more to do with business agreements than anything else. Whatever the reason, it’s a major change for the BoardWalk, which has seen its fair share of updates and transformations over the years. Jellyrolls If you want to visit Jellyrolls before it closes, here’s what you need to know. The bar is open from 7 PM to 1:45 AM every night, with entertainment kicking off at 8 PM. There’s a $22 cover charge, though Cast Members get discounted admission ($11 each night and free admission on Sundays with a valid Cast ID). DVC Members and Annual Passholders can also snag discounts on select nights. It’s a 21+ venue, so this is one of those rare Disney experiences exclusively for adults. ©Disney While you’re there, make sure to try one of their famous glow drinks or the rotating Jellyroll of the Day. Beer, wine, and seltzers are available too, if cocktails aren’t your thing. And trust us—arrive early if you want a good seat. The place fills up fast, especially now that the countdown to closure has begun. Crowd at Jellyrolls We’re always on the lookout for the latest Disney news, so stay tuned for more. Not all Disney World snacks are created equally. In fact, some even have a cult following (we’re looking at you, cheeseburger spring rolls). Cheeseburger Spring Rolls So, when new versions of classic Disney World snacks come out, we feel it’s our job — our duty — to try them out and tell you everything you need to know (maybe because it actually IS our job here at DFB!). Over at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, a new lunch box tart has debuted and we’re checking it out! We headed over to Woody’s Lunch Box at Disney’s Hollywood Studios to grab the brand new The Clawwww! Lunch Box Tart for $4.99. This is a key lime curd-filled pastry topped with marshmallow fondant, sugar candy, blue sprinkles, and purple crispy pearls. This sounds like it could be a winner… but was it? The Clawwww! Lunch Box Tart First of all, this might be one of the cutest lunch box tarts we’ve ever seen here — it looks like one of the green Aliens from Toy Story and we love it! But, that might be where our love for this treat ends. We really had to search for that key lime taste, which is usually pretty tart — but we didn’t get any of that here. It was very, very sweet and we wish there had been more of that classic, tart key lime flavor. It was extremely subtle, and we mostly just tasted the pastry and sweetness from the marshmallow fondant along with the sugar from the key lime curd — which was more just like a sweet citrus curd without the sourness. Like a little Green Alien When we broke the tart open, we could hardly spot any real filling on the inside. This could have just been the one we got, but the ratio was definitely off here. If you’re a fan of the lunch box tarts at Woody’s, you might want to give this one a try just for fun — but ultimately, we think it’s probably something we’d recommend skipping. Lunch box tart We’ll be on the lookout for even more new snacks to review for you at Disney World. In the meantime, make sure you stay tuned to the DisneyFoodBlog for the latest Disney news and more! There is a lot going on in Disney World right now. Pop Century Resort From permanent closures to ride updates and new shows, there’s been a lot to keep up with! Now it seems like there might be something that makes the end of your Disney vacation just a bit easier and gives you less to keep up with. It’s never easy leaving Disney World when you’re trip finally ends, but one Disney World resort is testing out something that might make it a bit easier. Before you get too excited, no, the Magical Express isn’t returning. (We know, we’re sad too.) Over at Pop Century Resort, guests who are flying with Southwest can now check their luggage at the resort! Disney’s Pop Century Resort Guests can take their luggage to the luggage assistance desk to drop off their luggage before heading to the airport, so there’s one less thing to lug with them as they depart from their vacation. The trial started today, March 31st, according to Cast Members we spoke with. Although we don’t know if it will be permanent, the Cast Member we spoke with expects it to be a permanent change and to be expanded to other value resorts soon. The luggage assistance desk! This service is free to guests staying at the resort, but there are stipulations. Disney can only take checked luggage so you will still be in charge of your carry-ons. If your flight leaves before 1PM, you must check it the day before. If your flight leaves after 1PM, you must check it at least four hours before, and you must check it by 1PM for same-day flights. MCO Luggage Drop-Off Check-in for luggage starts at 7 AM, so if your flight leaves at noon, you will need to check your luggage the night before. If your flight leaves at 2 PM, you will need to check in by 10 AM the day of your flight. If your flight leaves anytime after 5 PM, no matter the time, your luggage will need to be checked by 1 PM. Luggage Disney can take bulkier items like golf clubs, strollers, or wheelchairs if they are packed and secured properly. You won’t have access to your checked bag until it arrives at your final destination, so make sure you don’t pack anything you will need. Baggage claim at MCO! This will allow guests to bypass the baggage check counter at MCO and could save tons of time at the airport, especially during the busy season. If you want to utilize this service, you must be checked in for your Southwest Flight already to check your luggage at the hotel. After that, your luggage is secured in a van and driven to the airport for processing. Pop Century Resort Lobby Check-In For now, there is no signage for this new offering, so you will need to be aware of the service to utilize it. Cast Members have been alerting guests if it comes up through “normal guest interaction.” When Southwest starts charging for bags, you will have to pay for your bags with the airline to use this service. You won’t be able to add a checked bag and pay for it at the luggage services counter at Pop Century. Disney’s Pop Century Resort This service was previously offered before covid so we’re excited to see it’s potential return. While it’s no Magical Express return, this is great news for anyone flying Southwest and looking for more convenience. We hope to see this expand to other resorts and airlines. As always, be sure to keep following DFB for your travel news and updates. HUGE Changes Are Coming to Southwest Airlines SOON Want More Details About Disney World’s Hotels? A NEW land is coming to Animal Kingdom…but why is it taking SO long? ©Disney At the 2023 D23 Expo and the 2024 D23 Ultimate Fan Event, Disney talked about a new land that would be coming to Animal Kingdom. The new land would be themed to the Tropical Americas, specifically built around a fictional town Pueblo Esperanza. However, don’t make plans to see the new land anytime soon. While Tropical Americas is confirmed to be coming — as Disney Experiences Chairman Josh D’Amaro put it at the D23 event, “Dirt is moving. I just want to be clear about this: We are doing everything you’ve heard here tonight” — the land isn’t going to be open for at least two more years, with Disney giving a preliminary timeline of 2027. So, why is it going to take so long? Well, for starters, Tropical Americas is not being built on previously empty land (therefore it’s not technically an “expansion” at Animal Kingdom). Instead, it is replacing — and in some cases repurposing — DinoLand U.S.A. In other words, everything already in DinoLand has to close and be removed before work on Tropical Americas can begin. DinoLand, U.S.A. The first phase of DinoLand — including TriceraTop Spin, Fossil Fun Games, and Chester & Hester’s Dinosaur Treasures — had their final operating day on January 12th. However, as of now DINOSAUR, The Boneyard, Restaurantosaurus, Dino-Bite Snacks, and Trilo-Bites will all remain open, with Disney intimating that these offerings won’t be “going extinct” until the end of 2025. Dinosaur Once all of DinoLand is closed, Disney will need to transform the area, as the new land is described as according to Disney, the space will be “lush and sprawling, featuring a large fountain in the center where the villagers like to gather and tell stories. Additionally, a woodcarver has created a giant working carousel featuring his favorite animals from Disney stories.” Pueblo Esperanza Carousel Concept Art ©Disney Furthermore, the area will feature massive attractions based on Encanto and the Indiana Jones franchise. The former will be a ride-through attraction featuring the Madrigal family. According to Disney, “inside the Casita, Antonio has just received his special gift — the ability to communicate with animals — and his room has transformed into a rainforest. It’s time to go explore alongside him, and you never know what member of the family you might bump into…” A new attraction themed after the Walt Disney Animation Studios film “Encanto” follows Antonio the day after he received his magical gift – the ability to communicate with animals and is situated in the new Tropical Americas land coming to Disney’s Animal Kingdom. The Indiana Jones attraction is assumed to be reusing the DINOSAUR infrastructure — an interesting full-circle moment, as DINOSAUR itself is a reskin of Disneyland’s original Indiana Jones Adventure. According to Disney, “In this new venture, the man with the hat has recently discovered a perfectly preserved Maya temple, and that can only mean one thing: it’s time to explore it. He’s heard rumors about a mythical creature deep within the temple — and he’s got to see it for himself. So, he brings us along on the adventure… but will there be snakes? We’ll just have to wait and see.” ©Disney Disney has confirmed that it will have a different storyline than the Disneyland Indiana Jones Adventure ride, but either way, with work on the ride not starting until DINOSAUR closes, Disney is likely going to need to reach deep into 2027 to get the land ready for opening. The timetable for Tropical Americas fits into Disney World’s general approach to construction timelines, which — to the consternation of some — can often be measured in years. It also fits with the rest of Disney World’s upcoming projects – – Villains Land and Cars in Frontierland, at the Magic Kingdom, and Monsters, Inc. and the rethemed Muppets Rock ’n’ Roller Coaster at Hollywood Studios. @Disney Tropical Americas is coming to Animal Kingdom, but it’s still going to be a while. If you love pastries, cakes, and other treats, you should check out this place in Disney World! Check out Amorette’s Patisserie Disney Springs at Disney World has so many good spots for tasty treats. We like to try all the food we can, so we can let you know what’s worth it and what to avoid. We recently went to Amorette’s Patisserie, and we wanted to share our thoughts with you. Amorette’s Patisserie is celebrating Womans History Month with the Minnie Mouse Petit Cake! This cake is a vanilla chiffon cake with green tea-lemon syrup and berry mousse. This was a tasty cake, but we don’t think we would go out of our way for it again. Especially for its price of $22. Minnie Mouse Cake To start, it was a gorgeous-looking cake! We were quite impressed with how many layers were inside of it. The cake’s main flavors were lemon and raspberry with some green tea. The cake and fondant definitely had a vanilla flavor. The vanilla chiffon cake was light and fluffy, and you could really taste the lemon and raspberry in the syrup. We didn’t get much green tea flavor, but we feel like that’s a hard flavor to get — considering it would have to stand out amongst the raspberry and lemon. Look at this pretty cake There was a berry mousse layer between the cake — although we’re not sure we would really call it a mousse, it was more of a light jam consistency. Don’t get us wrong, it was tasty with the vanilla cake, but it just wasn’t very “moussey”. So pretty Our main complaint about this cake was the fondant. It was chewy and took away from the rest of the cake in our opinion. However, it did have a good thickness and wasn’t overly gummy (that’s it though). Against the fluffy, lightness of the cake, the fondant sticks out in the wrong way. It makes the cake look finished, but we ended up eating around it to really enjoy the cake. Minnie Mouse cake We don’t hate this cake, but we probably wouldn’t get it again. Especially for it’s price of $22, which feels very steep. One of our favorite Disney stars and Broadway legends just went to Disney World! Magic Kingdom Fireworks Jordan Fisher went to Disney World with his wife, Ellie, and their son, Riley. OMG, you have to see these adorable pictures. If you don’t know who Jordan Fisher is, you definitely know his voice! Fisher is one of the singers in the theme song for Happily Ever After. You know, one of the best nighttime spectacular fireworks songs ever. @jordanfisher It looks like he had a great time with his family in Magic Kingdom, EPCOT, and Hollywood Studios. @jordanfisher We got to see pictures of the family at The Crystal Palace, having fun with Pooh, Piglet, and Tigger… @jordanfisher …and on the Jungle Cruise. We have to know, do you think Jordan Fisher is an expert at dad jokes? @jordanfisher To answer the question we know you’re dying to ask, yes, the Fisher family did watch Happily Ever After at Magic Kingdom. I think we can all agree that he deserves a special VIP, permanent fireworks viewing spot. Actually, if we wanted to watch from inside the castle, we think he should be allowed to do that, too. @jordanfisher We love seeing our favorite celebrities in the parks and having normal experiences just like us! One of the best parts of EPCOT is the four festivals that rotate throughout the year. From the Festival of the Arts to Flower and Garden to Food and Wine and the Festival of the Holidays, EPCOT almost always has a festival happening. EPCOT We love these festivals, but there are three things EPCOT festivals need to bring them to the next level. 1. More tables With all the food and drinks you want to try, you’ll want to sit down for a moment to fully enjoy your food. Unfortunately, there are not many tables and chairs to relax in. Some even turn to eating on top of trash cans to have some sort of table! Standing tables We love the new CommuniCore Hall, which has indoor tables and chairs to sit and cool down with our food, but we really wish there were more options around the World Showcase. CommuniCore Hall 2. Better menus in the Italy and Morocco Pavilions Yikes. Italy and Morocco are always at the bottom of our Best of the Fest lists, and honestly, that’s sad! We love their permanent restaurants like Via Napoli Ristorante e Pizzeria and Spice Road Table, but festival booths have not been a favorite. 2024 Italy Booth at the Food and Wine Festival We would love for these booths to get all-new menus with some foods that we’re excited to eat! Instead of bringing back the same food every year (like Tangierine Cafe) or not updating the quality of the food (hello, Italy), a whole overhaul would be awesome for these booths. Tangierine Cafe menu 3. A Food Pass All the way over at Disneyland, there are festivals including the Disney California Adventure Food and Wine Festival, which offers this amazing Sip and Savor Pass. For around $63, you can purchase a lanyard with eight redeemable coupons for select food and beverage offerings (or grab four coupons for $32). It doesn’t include alcohol or souvenir items, but the ability to go from booth to booth without pulling out our wallets is awesome! Sip and Savor Pass Since EPCOT festivals are usually a lot bigger, they could offer bigger passes or more tiers with a different number of redeemable coupons. Whether you’re going to the festival one day or multiple throughout the season, this convenience would make our EPCOT trips so much easier. 2024 Lunar New Year Sip and Savor Pass If we were in charge of EPCOT festivals, these are the changes we would make right away! At Disney Food Blog, we go to every festival to bring you the best details, so make sure you’re following us for the best festival experiences. Everything you need to eat and drink at the 2025 EPCOT Flower and Garden Festival! DON'T DO IT ALONE! There are plenty of places to grab a quick snack in Disney World, and it’s no secret we have some of our favorites. Anaheim Produce In Disney’s Hollywood Studios, though, great snacks are a little harder to come by, but in a pinch, we’ll make a meal out of Totchos and we’ll never turn down a Carrot Cake Cookie. However, there’s a little sorta’ hidden snack spot in Hollywood Studios you may not know about: Anaheim Produce. So we stopped by to grab some snacks and try them out. And now, we’re here with an honest review (maybe even a little TOO honest). Anaheim Produce is pretty much a basic snack stand where you can grab drinks and snacks. The menu is pretty basic. However, this is one of many places where you can get a Mickey-shaped Pretzel served with Plastic Cheese for $7.99. Now, if you’ve had a Mickey pretzel, you’ll know these are a little denser than other pretzels and they’re nice and salty. It’s not super fresh (it’s been sitting in a warming box all day), but it’s good with that plastic cheese. However, we wouldn’t go out of our way to get a Mickey pretzel here as they are available ALL over the park. Mickey Pretzel Next up, we have to talk about the sorry state of churros in Disney World. However, we still got the Churro for $6.99 here, and yep, we were disappointed. If you’ve been to Disneyland, you might expect those super fresh churros that practically melt in your mouth. This is not that. It’s a stale churro that tastes like it’s been sitting outside forever with hardly any doughiness. They’re tough and the only good thing about them is the cinnamon sugar coating. Even the chocolate sauce we got with it was VERY thin and runny. This is why we never order churros from quick service spots in Disney World. Ever. Sad churro But we’re going to sing the praises of the boozy drink we discovered here. It’s Frozen Coca-Cola with Jack Daniel’s Whiskey for $15.50 and it is a MUST if you like the taste of Jack and Coke. It’s a refreshing take on that classic drink and you definitely get the flavor of the Coke and Jack Daniels. Be sure to give it a good mix, though, before you start drinking it because the alcohol ends up on the bottom. It does melt fast, but it’s still good melted. This is the perfect hot drink for a cold day. Refreshing! Well, one out of three ain’t bad, we guess. But this is really a spot you only stop at if you’re standing in front of it and need a drink and a quick snack. Stay tuned to DFB for more. WE KNOW – there are SO many great snacks at Disney World! How do you choose (we don’t want to choose but will blow our budget on Day 1 otherwise)? We’ve got you covered! A Disneyland show has permanently closed! ©Disney Just months before the resort is set to kick off festivities celebrating its 70th anniversary, an attraction at the Anaheim resort has surprisingly shuttered forever. The Disney Junior Dance Party, a “high-energy dance party show, filled with favorite Disney Junior Characters and music!”, has run in California Adventure’s Hollywood Land for the last several years. However, the show’s run has ended with no announcement or fanfare. The Disney Junior Dance Party has played its last show. As of March 24th, 2025, it will no longer run at Disney California Adventure. The show’s information has been removed from Disney’s website, and we confirmed with Disney that the show’s run had ended and were told to “continue to check the website for any more updates for a new show.” @Disney The Disney Junior Dance Party featured a DJ playing songs you know from Disney Junior shows, and appearances from Sofia the First, Doc McStuffins, Timon, Kion and his animal pals from The Lion Guard “live via satellite from the Pride Lands”, and the stars of Mickey and the Roadster Racers— Mickey and Minnie Mouse. ©Disney California Adventure’s Disney Junior Dance Party has unexpectedly closed at the Disneyland Resort to make way for a new show. One of our favorite spots to get a sweet treat in EPCOT is tucked back in the France Pavilion over in World Showcase. L’Artisan Des Glaces L’Artisan Des Glaces is a great place to grab some ice cream or sorbet on a warm day, but you can also grab macarons and their iconic Croque Glacés as well. Now that spring is upon us, there are some returning seasonal flavors that just arrived on the menu, and you know we had to check them out! There are several flavors available at L’Artisan Des Glaces, which we love because it means there’s something for almost everyone! This season, there are two special flavors you can try — Yogurt & Blueberry and Pina Colada. We got single scoops of the two flavors which cost $7.95 each. Time for some ice cream! The Pina Colada, which is a sorbet, is nice and smooth, but it’s more tart than it is sweet, so you’ll want to prepare yourself for that. You’ll really have to enjoy sour things because it certainly is more zingy and tangy than some people may be expecting. We could see where it might have some people puckering their faces a little bit, especially if they go in unaware. Pina Colada Now the Yogurt & Blueberry Ice Cream is exactly what it sounds like, and we honestly think it’s like a slap in the face with how on point it is with that flavor! It tastes just like Greek Yogurt, that plain yogurt taste, and then those blueberries are what really bring out that flavor. We love that they use REAL blueberries instead of just blueberry syrup or jam! Yogurt & Blueberry Now, this does mean that there were some grittier bits to the ice cream since it was real fruit, so keep that in mind if you’re sensitive to textures. We think this is a great choice for those who love yogurt and blueberries because again, this flavor is spot on. We really don’t think there’s any sort of fault in either of these flavors — both are very good if you know that their flavor profiles are something you’d enjoy! Choosing one might be the hardest decision you make in the France pavilion right now, but luckily, you can get a double scoop for $9.95 and try both! More Recent Reviews! What’s Disney up to on their private island? Disney’s Private Island Castaway Cay Castaway Cay, which has been part of Disney Cruise Line itineraries since the line’s inception, was revolutionary for the time. It was the first private island in the industry to feature direct docking, which allowed guests to disembark without being tendered to land. With its beaches, including the adult-only Serenity Bay, and activities like bicycle rentals, personal watercraft rentals, massages overlooking the ocean, snorkeling, parasailing, volleyball, and basketball, the island has long been a favorite of Disney Cruise line passengers. Now, it looks like Disney may be cooking up something new. Recently reader @danielstaten shared some photos of construction on Castaway Cay with us. @danielstaten The photos indicate a slew of new cabanas being added to the island. @danielstaten They also lend some credence to the rumor of a potential new adult-only dining pavilion expansion, perhaps to Serenity Bay. However, there’s no confirmation of anything at this time. @danielstaten Additional construction of Castaway Cay is somewhat unsurprising. The island, which was known as Gorda Cay until Disney purchased a 99-year lease from the Bahamian government, is still largely undeveloped. Approximately 55 of the island’s 1,000 acres are developed, and given the growing popularity of the Disney Cruise Line and in turn the expansion of the fleet, it stands to reason that the island will be further developed in the coming years. ©Disney Construction is underway on Disney’s private island, Castaway Cay. Disney World is the Most Magical Place on Earth! Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort And one of the best ways to stay even closer to the magic is to stay at one of the many Disney World Resort hotels! As a guest of a Disney World hotel, you can take advantage of tons of perks like advance Lighting Lane reservations, a free water park visit on your check-in day, Early Theme Park Entry, and free transportation! Although all of this is so nice, sometimes weird things go down at Disney World hotels. We asked you, our amazing readers, to share stories of nightmarish things you have witnessed at Disney World hotels, and let’s just say we hope we never have to see what some of you all saw! Resort lobby at Coronado Springs’ Gran Destino Tower Over at All-Star Sports, a reader shared that they found a cockroach in their bathroom and a horrible sewer smell by the pool. The good news is that they had a great experience at All-Star Movies and Music and would stay at an All-Star Resort again! All-Star Sports Another reader shared a crazy experience they had while staying at the All-Stars as well. They said that the room was kept up poorly, curtains were falling off, and only a few electrical outlets worked. But the story gets even worse; their blow dryer caught on fire and ended up burning a hole through the wall. Disney sent someone to replace the outlet, but they were not able to move rooms. Unlike the reader above, this reader doubts they will ever stay at an All-Star Resort again. All-Star Resorts One reader shared that two years ago when they arrived at their hotel room after checking in, they noticed that blood was smeared on the wall. Disney did end up moving their room, but they were still shocked that it was not cleaned prior to them checking in. Over at Animal Kingdom Lodge, a reader’s daughter got into bed for the night and realized that her bed was wet. Grossed out, they found out it was urine and that the housekeeper only changed the top sheet and not the mattress pad. It took over an hour for new sheets to be delivered and changed. Savanna View Room at Animal Kingdom Lodge Although this reader did not share which resort they were staying at, their hotel room did not have any running water, and it took someone over an hour to fix the problem. A similar plumbing issue happened at Old Key West about 15 years ago, as a reader told us that their toilet got backed up around 6 PM. They were told no one could come and fix it until the morning. Old Key West Resort | Deluxe Studio Room If you did not know, Old Key West, the original Disney Vacation Club resort, sits on a golf course. A reader told us that every morning during their “vacation” at Old Key West, mowers started to run loudly between 5:30 and 6 AM, which obviously would wake them up each morning. They called to see if they could move to the side of the resort without the course, but they were told no. Lesson learned: if you are a light sleeper, avoid staying at a resort with a golf course. Balcony at Old Key West On their very first trip to Disney World in 2012, this reader’s hotel had issues locating their luggage. When they returned to their resort from the parks at 10 PM, two pieces of luggage still could not be found. It was not until midnight when all of their luggage finally arrived. Luggage The Grand Floridian is known as one of Disney World’s nicest resorts, as it is a Deluxe Resort that overlooks the Magic Kingdom. Unfortunately, a reader shared that when they stayed at the Grand Floridian, they experienced black sludge bubbling from the faucets and shower. Bathroom at the DVC Villas at the Grand Floridian Over at the Cars section of Art of Animation, a reader had to deal with cockroaches coming out of the kitchenette area of their room at nighttime. Art of Animation PHEW! That is a lot of nasty stories! But probably the scariest of them all was shared by a reader who said that the most nightmarish thing that they ALWAYS experience at Disney World is the car service pulling up to take them back to the airport at the end of their trip. It sends shivers down our spines! There is nothing worse than the Disney blues! Orlando International Airport Things happen at Disney World hotels, just like they do at any hotel. In our experience, we have always had a clean and well-maintained hotel room, and we always look forward to staying at Disney World resort hotels! We want to hear from you!
