  3. A NEW land is coming to Animal Kingdom…but why is it taking SO long? ©Disney At the 2023 D23 Expo and the 2024 D23 Ultimate Fan Event, Disney talked about a new land that would be coming to Animal Kingdom. The new land would be themed to the Tropical Americas, specifically built around a fictional town Pueblo Esperanza. However, don’t make plans to see the new land anytime soon. While Tropical Americas is confirmed to be coming — as Disney Experiences Chairman Josh D’Amaro put it at the D23 event, “Dirt is moving. I just want to be clear about this: We are doing everything you’ve heard here tonight” — the land isn’t going to be open for at least two more years, with Disney giving a preliminary timeline of 2027. So, why is it going to take so long? Well, for starters, Tropical Americas is not being built on previously empty land (therefore it’s not technically an “expansion” at Animal Kingdom). Instead, it is replacing — and in some cases repurposing — DinoLand U.S.A. In other words, everything already in DinoLand has to close and be removed before work on Tropical Americas can begin. DinoLand, U.S.A. The first phase of DinoLand — including TriceraTop Spin, Fossil Fun Games, and Chester & Hester’s Dinosaur Treasures — had their final operating day on January 12th. However, as of now DINOSAUR, The Boneyard, Restaurantosaurus, Dino-Bite Snacks, and Trilo-Bites will all remain open, with Disney intimating that these offerings won’t be “going extinct” until the end of 2025. Dinosaur Once all of DinoLand is closed, Disney will need to transform the area, as the new land is described as according to Disney, the space will be “lush and sprawling, featuring a large fountain in the center where the villagers like to gather and tell stories. Additionally, a woodcarver has created a giant working carousel featuring his favorite animals from Disney stories.” Pueblo Esperanza Carousel Concept Art ©Disney Furthermore, the area will feature massive attractions based on Encanto and the Indiana Jones franchise. The former will be a ride-through attraction featuring the Madrigal family. According to Disney, “inside the Casita, Antonio has just received his special gift — the ability to communicate with animals — and his room has transformed into a rainforest. It’s time to go explore alongside him, and you never know what member of the family you might bump into…” A new attraction themed after the Walt Disney Animation Studios film “Encanto” follows Antonio the day after he received his magical gift – the ability to communicate with animals and is situated in the new Tropical Americas land coming to Disney’s Animal Kingdom. The Indiana Jones attraction is assumed to be reusing the DINOSAUR infrastructure — an interesting full-circle moment, as DINOSAUR itself is a reskin of Disneyland’s original Indiana Jones Adventure. According to Disney, “In this new venture, the man with the hat has recently discovered a perfectly preserved Maya temple, and that can only mean one thing: it’s time to explore it. He’s heard rumors about a mythical creature deep within the temple — and he’s got to see it for himself. So, he brings us along on the adventure… but will there be snakes? We’ll just have to wait and see.” ©Disney Disney has confirmed that it will have a different storyline than the Disneyland Indiana Jones Adventure ride, but either way, with work on the ride not starting until DINOSAUR closes, Disney is likely going to need to reach deep into 2027 to get the land ready for opening. The timetable for Tropical Americas fits into Disney World’s general approach to construction timelines, which — to the consternation of some — can often be measured in years. It also fits with the rest of Disney World’s upcoming projects – – Villains Land and Cars in Frontierland, at the Magic Kingdom, and Monsters, Inc. and the rethemed Muppets Rock ’n’ Roller Coaster at Hollywood Studios. @Disney Tropical Americas is coming to Animal Kingdom, but it’s still going to be a while. Stay tuned to DFB for more on Disney World’s construction timeline. 5. If you love pastries, cakes, and other treats, you should check out this place in Disney World! Check out Amorette’s Patisserie Disney Springs at Disney World has so many good spots for tasty treats. We like to try all the food we can, so we can let you know what’s worth it and what to avoid. We recently went to Amorette’s Patisserie, and we wanted to share our thoughts with you. Amorette’s Patisserie is celebrating Womans History Month with the Minnie Mouse Petit Cake! This cake is a vanilla chiffon cake with green tea-lemon syrup and berry mousse. This was a tasty cake, but we don’t think we would go out of our way for it again. Especially for its price of $22. Minnie Mouse Cake To start, it was a gorgeous-looking cake! We were quite impressed with how many layers were inside of it. The cake’s main flavors were lemon and raspberry with some green tea. The cake and fondant definitely had a vanilla flavor. The vanilla chiffon cake was light and fluffy, and you could really taste the lemon and raspberry in the syrup. We didn’t get much green tea flavor, but we feel like that’s a hard flavor to get — considering it would have to stand out amongst the raspberry and lemon. Look at this pretty cake There was a berry mousse layer between the cake — although we’re not sure we would really call it a mousse, it was more of a light jam consistency. Don’t get us wrong, it was tasty with the vanilla cake, but it just wasn’t very “moussey”. So pretty Our main complaint about this cake was the fondant. It was chewy and took away from the rest of the cake in our opinion. However, it did have a good thickness and wasn’t overly gummy (that’s it though). Against the fluffy, lightness of the cake, the fondant sticks out in the wrong way. It makes the cake look finished, but we ended up eating around it to really enjoy the cake. Minnie Mouse cake We don’t hate this cake, but we probably wouldn’t get it again. Especially for it’s price of $22, which feels very steep. 6. One of our favorite Disney stars and Broadway legends just went to Disney World! Magic Kingdom Fireworks Jordan Fisher went to Disney World with his wife, Ellie, and their son, Riley. OMG, you have to see these adorable pictures. If you don’t know who Jordan Fisher is, you definitely know his voice! Fisher is one of the singers in the theme song for Happily Ever After. You know, one of the best nighttime spectacular fireworks songs ever. @jordanfisher It looks like he had a great time with his family in Magic Kingdom, EPCOT, and Hollywood Studios. @jordanfisher We got to see pictures of the family at The Crystal Palace, having fun with Pooh, Piglet, and Tigger… @jordanfisher …and on the Jungle Cruise. We have to know, do you think Jordan Fisher is an expert at dad jokes? @jordanfisher To answer the question we know you’re dying to ask, yes, the Fisher family did watch Happily Ever After at Magic Kingdom. I think we can all agree that he deserves a special VIP, permanent fireworks viewing spot. Actually, if we wanted to watch from inside the castle, we think he should be allowed to do that, too. @jordanfisher We love seeing our favorite celebrities in the parks and having normal experiences just like us! 7. One of the best parts of EPCOT is the four festivals that rotate throughout the year. From the Festival of the Arts to Flower and Garden to Food and Wine and the Festival of the Holidays, EPCOT almost always has a festival happening. EPCOT We love these festivals, but there are three things EPCOT festivals need to bring them to the next level. 1. More tables With all the food and drinks you want to try, you’ll want to sit down for a moment to fully enjoy your food. Unfortunately, there are not many tables and chairs to relax in. Some even turn to eating on top of trash cans to have some sort of table! Standing tables We love the new CommuniCore Hall, which has indoor tables and chairs to sit and cool down with our food, but we really wish there were more options around the World Showcase. CommuniCore Hall 2. Better menus in the Italy and Morocco Pavilions Yikes. Italy and Morocco are always at the bottom of our Best of the Fest lists, and honestly, that’s sad! We love their permanent restaurants like Via Napoli Ristorante e Pizzeria and Spice Road Table, but festival booths have not been a favorite. 2024 Italy Booth at the Food and Wine Festival We would love for these booths to get all-new menus with some foods that we’re excited to eat! Instead of bringing back the same food every year (like Tangierine Cafe) or not updating the quality of the food (hello, Italy), a whole overhaul would be awesome for these booths. Tangierine Cafe menu 3. A Food Pass All the way over at Disneyland, there are festivals including the Disney California Adventure Food and Wine Festival, which offers this amazing Sip and Savor Pass. For around $63, you can purchase a lanyard with eight redeemable coupons for select food and beverage offerings (or grab four coupons for $32). It doesn’t include alcohol or souvenir items, but the ability to go from booth to booth without pulling out our wallets is awesome! Sip and Savor Pass Since EPCOT festivals are usually a lot bigger, they could offer bigger passes or more tiers with a different number of redeemable coupons. Whether you’re going to the festival one day or multiple throughout the season, this convenience would make our EPCOT trips so much easier. 2024 Lunar New Year Sip and Savor Pass If we were in charge of EPCOT festivals, these are the changes we would make right away! At Disney Food Blog, we go to every festival to bring you the best details, so make sure you’re following us for the best festival experiences. 8. There are plenty of places to grab a quick snack in Disney World, and it’s no secret we have some of our favorites. Anaheim Produce In Disney’s Hollywood Studios, though, great snacks are a little harder to come by, but in a pinch, we’ll make a meal out of Totchos and we’ll never turn down a Carrot Cake Cookie. However, there’s a little sorta’ hidden snack spot in Hollywood Studios you may not know about: Anaheim Produce. So we stopped by to grab some snacks and try them out. And now, we’re here with an honest review (maybe even a little TOO honest). Anaheim Produce is pretty much a basic snack stand where you can grab drinks and snacks. The menu is pretty basic. However, this is one of many places where you can get a Mickey-shaped Pretzel served with Plastic Cheese for $7.99. Now, if you’ve had a Mickey pretzel, you’ll know these are a little denser than other pretzels and they’re nice and salty. It’s not super fresh (it’s been sitting in a warming box all day), but it’s good with that plastic cheese. However, we wouldn’t go out of our way to get a Mickey pretzel here as they are available ALL over the park. Mickey Pretzel Next up, we have to talk about the sorry state of churros in Disney World. However, we still got the Churro for $6.99 here, and yep, we were disappointed. If you’ve been to Disneyland, you might expect those super fresh churros that practically melt in your mouth. This is not that. It’s a stale churro that tastes like it’s been sitting outside forever with hardly any doughiness. They’re tough and the only good thing about them is the cinnamon sugar coating. Even the chocolate sauce we got with it was VERY thin and runny. This is why we never order churros from quick service spots in Disney World. Ever. Sad churro But we’re going to sing the praises of the boozy drink we discovered here. It’s Frozen Coca-Cola with Jack Daniel’s Whiskey for $15.50 and it is a MUST if you like the taste of Jack and Coke. It’s a refreshing take on that classic drink and you definitely get the flavor of the Coke and Jack Daniels. Be sure to give it a good mix, though, before you start drinking it because the alcohol ends up on the bottom. It does melt fast, but it’s still good melted. This is the perfect hot drink for a cold day. Refreshing! Well, one out of three ain’t bad, we guess. But this is really a spot you only stop at if you’re standing in front of it and need a drink and a quick snack. Stay tuned to DFB for more. WE KNOW – there are SO many great snacks at Disney World! 9. A Disneyland show has permanently closed! ©Disney Just months before the resort is set to kick off festivities celebrating its 70th anniversary, an attraction at the Anaheim resort has surprisingly shuttered forever. The Disney Junior Dance Party, a “high-energy dance party show, filled with favorite Disney Junior Characters and music!”, has run in California Adventure’s Hollywood Land for the last several years. However, the show’s run has ended with no announcement or fanfare. The Disney Junior Dance Party has played its last show. As of March 24th, 2025, it will no longer run at Disney California Adventure. The show’s information has been removed from Disney’s website, and we confirmed with Disney that the show’s run had ended and were told to “continue to check the website for any more updates for a new show.” @Disney The Disney Junior Dance Party featured a DJ playing songs you know from Disney Junior shows, and appearances from Sofia the First, Doc McStuffins, Timon, Kion and his animal pals from The Lion Guard “live via satellite from the Pride Lands”, and the stars of Mickey and the Roadster Racers— Mickey and Minnie Mouse. ©Disney California Adventure’s Disney Junior Dance Party has unexpectedly closed at the Disneyland Resort to make way for a new show. 10. One of our favorite spots to get a sweet treat in EPCOT is tucked back in the France Pavilion over in World Showcase. L’Artisan Des Glaces L’Artisan Des Glaces is a great place to grab some ice cream or sorbet on a warm day, but you can also grab macarons and their iconic Croque Glacés as well. Now that spring is upon us, there are some returning seasonal flavors that just arrived on the menu, and you know we had to check them out! There are several flavors available at L’Artisan Des Glaces, which we love because it means there’s something for almost everyone! This season, there are two special flavors you can try — Yogurt & Blueberry and Pina Colada. We got single scoops of the two flavors which cost $7.95 each. Time for some ice cream! The Pina Colada, which is a sorbet, is nice and smooth, but it’s more tart than it is sweet, so you’ll want to prepare yourself for that. You’ll really have to enjoy sour things because it certainly is more zingy and tangy than some people may be expecting. We could see where it might have some people puckering their faces a little bit, especially if they go in unaware. Pina Colada Now the Yogurt & Blueberry Ice Cream is exactly what it sounds like, and we honestly think it’s like a slap in the face with how on point it is with that flavor! It tastes just like Greek Yogurt, that plain yogurt taste, and then those blueberries are what really bring out that flavor. We love that they use REAL blueberries instead of just blueberry syrup or jam! Yogurt & Blueberry Now, this does mean that there were some grittier bits to the ice cream since it was real fruit, so keep that in mind if you’re sensitive to textures. We think this is a great choice for those who love yogurt and blueberries because again, this flavor is spot on. We really don’t think there’s any sort of fault in either of these flavors — both are very good if you know that their flavor profiles are something you’d enjoy! Choosing one might be the hardest decision you make in the France pavilion right now, but luckily, you can get a double scoop for $9.95 and try both! More Recent Reviews! 11. What’s Disney up to on their private island? Disney’s Private Island Castaway Cay Castaway Cay, which has been part of Disney Cruise Line itineraries since the line’s inception, was revolutionary for the time. It was the first private island in the industry to feature direct docking, which allowed guests to disembark without being tendered to land. With its beaches, including the adult-only Serenity Bay, and activities like bicycle rentals, personal watercraft rentals, massages overlooking the ocean, snorkeling, parasailing, volleyball, and basketball, the island has long been a favorite of Disney Cruise line passengers. Now, it looks like Disney may be cooking up something new. Recently reader @danielstaten shared some photos of construction on Castaway Cay with us. @danielstaten The photos indicate a slew of new cabanas being added to the island. @danielstaten They also lend some credence to the rumor of a potential new adult-only dining pavilion expansion, perhaps to Serenity Bay. However, there’s no confirmation of anything at this time. @danielstaten Additional construction of Castaway Cay is somewhat unsurprising. The island, which was known as Gorda Cay until Disney purchased a 99-year lease from the Bahamian government, is still largely undeveloped. Approximately 55 of the island’s 1,000 acres are developed, and given the growing popularity of the Disney Cruise Line and in turn the expansion of the fleet, it stands to reason that the island will be further developed in the coming years. ©Disney Construction is underway on Disney’s private island, Castaway Cay. 12. Disney World is the Most Magical Place on Earth! Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort And one of the best ways to stay even closer to the magic is to stay at one of the many Disney World Resort hotels! As a guest of a Disney World hotel, you can take advantage of tons of perks like advance Lighting Lane reservations, a free water park visit on your check-in day, Early Theme Park Entry, and free transportation! Although all of this is so nice, sometimes weird things go down at Disney World hotels. We asked you, our amazing readers, to share stories of nightmarish things you have witnessed at Disney World hotels, and let’s just say we hope we never have to see what some of you all saw! Resort lobby at Coronado Springs’ Gran Destino Tower Over at All-Star Sports, a reader shared that they found a cockroach in their bathroom and a horrible sewer smell by the pool. The good news is that they had a great experience at All-Star Movies and Music and would stay at an All-Star Resort again! All-Star Sports Another reader shared a crazy experience they had while staying at the All-Stars as well. They said that the room was kept up poorly, curtains were falling off, and only a few electrical outlets worked. But the story gets even worse; their blow dryer caught on fire and ended up burning a hole through the wall. Disney sent someone to replace the outlet, but they were not able to move rooms. Unlike the reader above, this reader doubts they will ever stay at an All-Star Resort again. All-Star Resorts One reader shared that two years ago when they arrived at their hotel room after checking in, they noticed that blood was smeared on the wall. Disney did end up moving their room, but they were still shocked that it was not cleaned prior to them checking in. Over at Animal Kingdom Lodge, a reader’s daughter got into bed for the night and realized that her bed was wet. Grossed out, they found out it was urine and that the housekeeper only changed the top sheet and not the mattress pad. It took over an hour for new sheets to be delivered and changed. Savanna View Room at Animal Kingdom Lodge Although this reader did not share which resort they were staying at, their hotel room did not have any running water, and it took someone over an hour to fix the problem. A similar plumbing issue happened at Old Key West about 15 years ago, as a reader told us that their toilet got backed up around 6 PM. They were told no one could come and fix it until the morning. Old Key West Resort | Deluxe Studio Room If you did not know, Old Key West, the original Disney Vacation Club resort, sits on a golf course. A reader told us that every morning during their “vacation” at Old Key West, mowers started to run loudly between 5:30 and 6 AM, which obviously would wake them up each morning. They called to see if they could move to the side of the resort without the course, but they were told no. Lesson learned: if you are a light sleeper, avoid staying at a resort with a golf course. Balcony at Old Key West On their very first trip to Disney World in 2012, this reader’s hotel had issues locating their luggage. When they returned to their resort from the parks at 10 PM, two pieces of luggage still could not be found. It was not until midnight when all of their luggage finally arrived. Luggage The Grand Floridian is known as one of Disney World’s nicest resorts, as it is a Deluxe Resort that overlooks the Magic Kingdom. Unfortunately, a reader shared that when they stayed at the Grand Floridian, they experienced black sludge bubbling from the faucets and shower. Bathroom at the DVC Villas at the Grand Floridian Over at the Cars section of Art of Animation, a reader had to deal with cockroaches coming out of the kitchenette area of their room at nighttime. Art of Animation PHEW! That is a lot of nasty stories! But probably the scariest of them all was shared by a reader who said that the most nightmarish thing that they ALWAYS experience at Disney World is the car service pulling up to take them back to the airport at the end of their trip. 13. We’ve said it before and we’ll say it again: not all Disney World restaurants are created equally. Some are worth singing about from the rooftops, while others are more of a one-and-done. Planet Hollywood This brings us to Planet Hollywood at Disney Springs — a restaurant we find generally so upsetting, that even the Terminator himself couldn’t save it (okay, that might be dramatic — but you get it). While there are some redeemable dishes on the menu at this spot, the most recent meal we tried certainly wasn’t one of them. Located in Downtown Disney’s West Side, Planet Hollywood is a three-tiered observatory full of dining. And, while it’s certainly not our favorite restaurant at Disney Springs, there is a large menu with a wide variety of options that will likely please even the pickiest of eaters. We recently stopped by and grabbed the Bird is the Word chicken sandwich for $18.99 and are bringing you our thoughts! Planet Hollywood Menu This sandwich is made with a crispy fried all-natural chicken breast, buttermilk ranch dressing, pickles, cheddar, slaw & honey hot sauce on a brioche bun served with seasoned fries. This sounds like a pretty classic — and delicious — chicken sandwich, so what could go wrong? Bird is the Word sandwich This was… not good. The chicken was not seasoned and the sandwich itself lacked flavor overall. Not only that, but the selling point for us, which was the hot honey sauce, was not even hot honey. It tasted and looked and smelled exactly like buffalo sauce (OUTRAGEOUS). Very disappointing. We did like the one pickle spear the sandwich was served with, but for $18.99, we don’t think this sandwich is worth getting again. Not our favorite We’ve had better chicken sandwiches at Disney World — and even at Disney Springs! If you’re after a really delicious chicken sandwich, you’ll want to head to Chicken Guy! instead. We also really enjoy the fried chicken sandwiches from Connections Eatery at EPCOT. This just goes to show that there are plenty of good eats in Disney World — as long as you know where to look! 14. Disney’s iconic Napa Rose restaurant, which is located at the Grand Californian Hotel & Spa and serves “refined California cuisine,” is set to get a makeover! Napa Rose at the Grand Californian Hotel Disney dropped a TON of announcements about some upcoming changes at its hotels, and we’re expecting some fun new dining options along with a whole new look to this space. An official closing date for this renovation has not yet been revealed, but we think we may have spotted a hint on the Disneyland calendar! Soon, Napa Rose will temporarily close while Disney updates the restaurant — we just don’t officially know when yet. Disney revealed that Napa Rose will be remodeled with a new interior and patio, and based on what we recently spotted on the Disneyland website, it could be closing as soon as April 5th! ©Disney We spotted this update on the calendar listing for Napa Rose, which appears to show no availability beginning on April 5th, and continuing as far as the calendar goes out, which is 60 days. Disney has still not made an official announcement about when exactly Napa Rose will close, but this might be a pretty safe bet. Of course, we’ll let you know once things have been confirmed by Disney. ©Disney Disney previously explained that the restaurant “will have a rustic elegance and will be a tapestry of California’s storied history of wine and winemaking, using natural textures such as reclaimed French oak flooring and columns (a type of wood used to make wine barrels), hand-pinged artisan metals, leathers, deep colors of cabernet, and an eye-catching chandelier inspired by California’s Mission grapevines.” Napa Rose Dining Room Imagineers will expand the counters where guests can watch the action at the restaurant’s exhibition kitchen. Additionally, the patio will be updated to add more seating, and two new fireplaces will be installed. That way, you can dine outside even when it’s a little chilly out! How cute! The restaurant is expected to reopen in fall 2025. Look out for a new menu, too! Luckily, Disney confirmed Napa Rose will still serve fan favorites like the Smiling Tiger Salad and will still offer an impressive wine collection of more than 1,500 labels. Smiling Tiger Salad Disney also noted, “To make way for these enhancements, there will be temporary updates to dining offerings at Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel & Spa.” In the meantime, we’re always on the lookout for the latest Disney news, so stay tuned for more. 15. If you are headed to Disney World for a longer trip or want to save some money on food, ordering grocery delivery to your Disney World resort is a great idea! Kroger Delivery! Don’t end up paying high prices in the small grocery section at your Disney World resort gift shop; instead, utilize Kroger’s Grocery Delivery! Kroger has tons of experience in delivery to Disney World resorts, so you can trust that your groceries will be delivered safely! Although we love this service, there is one problem that you may run into on the last day of your trip. Ordering groceries through Kroger Grocery Delivery is super convenient, especially if you don’t have your own car to shop off-property. We especially like ordering easy, on-the-go breakfast foods for early morning rope drop days. We like to have snacks for late-night cravings and even order water bottles and soda to have in our room. Groceries Step-by-Step Guide to Ordering Kroger Grocery Delivery to Disney World You can get all of this and more conveniently delivered right to your resort, and you can watch your delivery process through the Kroger app. Don’t worry if you can’t be there right as your groceries are delivered. They can be held at your hotel’s front desk or Bell Services desk for a small additional fee. Kroger Delivery Sounds easy enough, right? Well, while you are enjoying your Disney World vacation, you may end up wanting to eat more in the parks and try all the delicious snacks around the property. Don’t worry; we totally get it; we love Disney food here at the Disney Food Blog! The problem is that toward the end of your trip, you may notice you have a ton of groceries to get through, which is totally normal! This happens all the time! Kroger Delivery Rather than worry about what to do with all your leftover groceries as the clock ticks to 11 AM on your checkout day, plan ahead before you order your groceries. Think about all your dining reservations, your park days, and how much time you will spend away from your room. Kroger Delivery Those staying at a Disney Vacation Club Villa may get more use out of their groceries as some rooms have a full kitchen. Just make a game plan of what will work best for you and your party, and think about a realistic amount of groceries that you will go through beforehand to avoid leftovers on your checkout day. Kitchen at Copper Creek Kroger Delivery is a great tool and super helpful while you are on vacation, so the next time you visit Disney World, make sure to download the Kroger app before you arrive and make a game plan for what groceries you need to order. And if you have unopened snacks you can’t take home with you, maybe you can find a family still at the resort who would appreciate them! 17. All the Single Riders, all the Single Riders, all the Single Riders, now put your hands UP! Single Rider lines can save you the wait! Okay, sorry, I literally couldn’t help myself. ANYWAY, if you’re a fan of using the Single Rider lines to beat the standby lines at Disney World rides, we’ve got an exciting update to share. Disney has officially added Single Rider options and information to the My Disney Experience app! Disney World has officially added Single Rider information to in-park wait time boards and the My Disney Experience app! Information about Single Rider lines was previously available in the app, but now it’s listed — along with a new logo — on individual rides depending on when the Single Rider line is available. ©Disney As of now, six Disney World rides use the Single Rider line, and just because it’s an option sometimes doesn’t mean it’s always available. Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster (Hollywood Studios), Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run (Hollywood Studios), Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance (Hollywood Studios), Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure (Epcot), Soarin’ (Epcot), and Expedition Everest (Animal Kingdom) all have Single Rider line options. ©Disney When we were playing around in the app this morning, we spotted Single Rider options for Expedition Everest and Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster… ©Disney …Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run… ©Disney …and Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure. Keep in mind that the Single Rider line may not always be available — Disney will open or close the Single Rider option at various rides depending on demand and availability. Your best bet is to check the My Disney Experience app or the wait time boards located throughout the parks for the most up-to-date information. ©Disney In the meantime, we’ll be on the lookout for more updates on Single Rider lines and the My Disney Experience app. Make sure you stay tuned to the Disney Food Blog for the latest Disney news and more! 18. Epic Universe opens on May 22nd, 2025, and we couldn’t be more excited! ©Universal We’ve already gotten a sneak peek inside the park and we have so many thoughts! There is so much to see and do and it seems like we aren’t the only one with things to say about the brand-new Universal theme park. Let’s break down what the internet is saying about how they plan on getting into the park before it’s open. Epic Universe recently began Team Member previews for the park! Team Members, what Universal calls their employees, have been able to test the park for the last few weeks but they can’t take any photo or video inside just yet. For those of us on the outside looking in, we are hearing lots of thoughts but still waiting to see what it all looks like (which is what we really want!) ©Universal It seems we aren’t the only ones itching to get inside the park though! Over on Facebook inside a Universal Annual Passholder group, someone posed the question “How do you get into Epic before it opens?” The responses couldn’t be better! Starting off, one user suggested needing “The cow white as milk, the cape as red as blood, the hair as yellow as corn, and the slipper as pure as gold.” Is anyone else as obsessed with this Into the Woods reference as we are? ©Universal Another comment suggested we just have to say pretty please! Technically, we haven’t tried that just yet so may be worth a shot. One suggestion said we need to find the right wrap pipe and we’ll pop up in Super Nintendo World! ©bioreconstruct Trust us when we say we’re still searching for the right wrap pipe! One real way to get in without being a Team Member is to consider marrying a Team Member. Is a lifelong commitment worth one day in the theme park a bit early? Maybe! It’s how our lovely reporter was able to check out the park early (she was really playing the long game with this one!) ©Universal One user suggested a simple airdrop from a helicopter and we appreciate the dedication. Make sure to pack your parachute if you’re going to attempt this. (Don’t actually attempt this.) ©Universal A few of the group members posed teleporting as an option. If anyone knows how to do that, let us know! Finally, you could try a few ways that are themed to some of the lands. Grab your floor powder for The Wizarding World, hop on a Dragon for the Isle of Berk, or grab a power-up mushroom for Super Nintendo World. ©Universal In all seriousness, the park opens on May 22nd for the general public and we are eagerly awaiting our chance to head back inside the park. The new park features 5 new lands, tons of new rides, and so many snacks we can’t keep count. Tickets are on sale now! As always, make sure you stay tuned into DFB for all of your Universal news and updates. Everything We Know About Epic Universe Here! 19. The one thing we don’t want you to do is waste your time in Magic Kingdom. Magic Kingdom can be a LOT to plan for. That’s because there’s just so much to do in that park, especially when compared to Disney World’s other three parks. Magic Kingdom Magic Kingdom also has the most rides, so you really have to prioritize and plan your day carefully to make sure you ride everything you want to. So here’s the thing…some rides in Magic Kingdom are 100% worth your time. However, others might be skippable (especially if they’re not your priority). Now, we’re not trying to tell you what you should and should not ride, but we can give you an idea of what you can skip and what you could ride instead to save you time and, possibly, money. Skip TRON Lightcycle / Run Okay, so TRON Lightcycle / Run is the ride with the highest wait times in Disney World. Even at rope drop, you’ll be waiting at LEAST an hour just to ride what is essentially a pretty short ride. During other times of the day, we’ve seen multi-hour waits for this ride. TRON also still has that “newness” to it, so demand for it is high. Now, you can pay extra for Lightning Lane Single Pass to bypass the long standby lines for the lightning lane, or you can ride something else instead. You don’t have to ride TRON Lightcycle / Run to enjoy Disney World If we had a choice, we’d just hop on over to Space Mountain and ride that instead. Is it the same? No, not really? But the vibes are similar and you’re bound to wait in a shorter line over at Space Mountain. Plus, if you have Lightning Lane Multi Pass, Space Mountain is included with that so you could even get a shorter wait. NOBODY Expected This To Happen on TRON in Magic Kingdom Skip Dumbo We get it. Your kids are going to want to ride Dumbo. It’s iconic. It’s a flying ride that goes up and down and around in circles. It was MADE with kids in mind. Well, guess what? Everyone else’s kid ALSO wants to ride Dumbo, so you can often encounter long lines there. SKIP IT. Dumbo Why? Well, Aladdin’s Magic Carpets in Adventureland is the EXACT same ride — the only difference is the theme. Instead of riding on an elephant, you’re riding on a Magic Carpet. Kids will enjoy it the same PLUS the lines here tend to be shorter. 7 Rides Disney World Pros SKIP in Magic Kingdom Skip The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh Okay, let’s talk dark rides. You will often find some long lines at The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh in Fantasyland. Yes, Pooh is always going to be popular with visitors, so this ride will be popular, too. Now, if the line is short, go for it, ride it. But if it’s a long line, walk away… The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh …and visit Under The Sea — Journey of the Little Mermaid instead. This ride tends to load faster, meaning the line generally moves faster. Both rides are so similar in experience, although their stories are different. But it’s a great alternative if the Pooh ride has a longer line. It’s Rare That Anything Shocks Me Anymore, but This Magic Kingdom Ride Revelation Was Upsetting Skip “it’s a small world” OR Pirates of the Caribbean Okay, not everyone loves “it’s a small world” to begin with, but if lines are long, then just leave Fantasyland and head on over to Pirates of the Caribbean in Adventureland (personal opinion, but Pirates IS the better ride). Okay, so both of these rides have their charms, so you might want to try to fit BOTH of them in. Pirates of the Caribbean However, if your time is limited and you have to choose, go for the one with the shorter line. Or Pirates of the Caribbean (which is what we’d always do). We’re WORRIED About Magic Kingdom Lightning Lane Rules in Disney World So here’s the thing, rides with long lines just might not be worth your time, especially if you only have a day in Magic Kingdom. You might do better to visit other rides with shorter wait times so that you can do more in the limited time that you’ve got in the park. If you must ride the more popular rides, you’ll want to consider purchasing Lightning Lane Multi Pass and Lightning Lane Single Pass. A couple of long in-the-works rule changes are being fully enforced today, March 24th, across Disney’s streaming platforms, including Disney+ and Hulu. ©Disney These changes to the terms of service have actually been live for new subscribers since January 27th, and legacy subscribers have had the option to opt into them through a pop-up window since then. If they didn’t, the changes automatically take effect today, March 24th. These terms of service changes reflect several things: First off, it includes new language on Disney’s recently added Pause feature for their streaming services, which allows subscribers to “pause” their subscription for a determined amount of time. According to Disney, the pause will “effect on the first day of your next billing period, and you can continue streaming until then. Once the pause begins, you will not be charged and you will not have access to any content until the pause ends.” When the pre-selected un-pause date is reached, the account will reactivate and a new billing cycle will begin. An account can also be reactivated early through an action on the user’s Disney+ account page. ©Marvel Beyond the pause feature, the second major clarification is regarding ads. According to the new Terms of Service, due to the increase in the breadth and depth of the content available on Disney’s streamers, “circumstances may require that certain titles and types of content include ads, even in our ‘no ads’ or ‘ad free’ subscription.” Finally, there are a few smaller, housekeeping-style changes as well: The update adds Hulu’s Terms of Service to the Disney+ page, according to Disney “so that the terms of use for each of our streaming services and bundles are all in one place. “If you don’t have a Hulu subscription, some of these terms may not be relevant to you.” In addition, future notices may come in a “single, combined email” whether someone subscribes to Disney+, ESPN+, Hulu or some combination of the three. A clarification that the same arbitration agreements apply to Disney+, ESPN+, and Hulu. A reminder that Disney isn’t “responsible for the content or practices of any websites or destinations outside of the Disney+, ESPN+, or Hulu sites, or for third-party ads, materials, products, or services, which may be governed by third-party terms of use.” ©Hulu These new changes to Disney+’s terms of service have been in effect for new subscribers since January, and are now in effect across the board for all subscribers. 25. When Disney World opened after the COVID-19 pandemic closed its doors, specific offerings were not available upon its phased reopening. We miss room service breakfast. Almost five years later, a majority of things around the resort have gone back to normal. There are a few outliers in this as two out of the three Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutiques have still yet to reopen. The same can be said about certain hotel amenities, like room service, but we just found a hack that can help you get a customized type of room service at your Disney World resort! Prior to the resort-wide closure in 2020, room service, otherwise known as in-room dining, was available to Disney World resort guests. However, when the resort reopened four months later, room service did not return to all the hotels as there were safety concerns for both guests and Cast Members. In-Room Dining at the Grand Floridian Here we are, almost five years later, and the only resort offering room service is the Grand Floridian Resort. The Grand Floridian is a Deluxe Resort, but none of the other Deluxe Resorts currently offer this service. This can be a real bummer, especially after a long day in the parks. If you want food delivered to your room, you can actually use the app DoorDash! You can choose from an array of restaurants, giving you more variety in what food you can order. That’s right — lots of folks don’t realize that even when you are in the Disney World bubble, you can order from Door Dash and get delivery to your hotel. Each Disney World hotel has different ways of allowing non-resort guests into the hotel gate, so it is a good idea to call your resort’s front desk to talk to a Cast Member to find out what the best instructions to give your delivery driver are. 8 Disney World Hotels That Will ALWAYS Crack Down on the Parking Rules ©Doordash Sometimes, you will be asked to meet your delivery driver outside the entrance, in the lobby, or at Bell Services. The best practice might change throughout the day, so it is always a good idea to check before placing your order. For privacy purposes, we would recommend meeting your driver in a common area rather than at your room. Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort Lobby If you would rather order food directly from Disney, you can utilize Mobile Order in the My Disney Experience app and pick up your food to take it directly back to your room to enjoy. However, sometimes Disney World’s restaurants close earlier, so if you are looking to satisfy a late-night craving, DoorDash is a great option! Mobile Order Pick-up in Everything Pop We have not heard any news about room service returning, which is shocking since this is a typical resort benefit at resorts off-property. As always, we will keep an eye out for any news about room service changes, so make sure to continue to follow along with us here at the Disney Food Blog!
