Epic Universe is well under construction and looking great! Construction of Epic Universe @bioreconstruct The new Universal theme park is set to open in 2025 with five new lands — Celestial Park, Dark Universe, The Wizarding World of Harry Potter — Ministry of Magic, Super Nintendo World, and How To Train Your Dragon — Isle of Berk. We’ve been keeping tabs on the construction and noticing when rides have been constructed, and other details show up. Recently, we noticed something black, toothless, and winged pop up that is quite adorable! If you’ve ever seen How To Train Your Dragon, then you’re probably familiar with the list of characters. Hiccup is the main character, Astrid is the tough warrior betrothed to Hiccup, and then there’s the rest of the gang — Stoick, Tuffnut, Fishlegs, and more. Each of these characters gets themselves a dragon in the first movie to fly and fight with. Hiccup finds one of the most rare dragons of all time who actually acts more like a cat than a ferocious dragon. ©Universal/DreamWorks That amazing, adorable, wonderful, ferocious dragon is none other than Toothless, the star of the movies! He’s a fan-favorite character in the film, and for good reason, he’s amazing. ©Universal/Dreamworks (How To Train Your Dragon 2) Well, it appears that Toothless has officially made his way to Epic Universe! In a post on X, Bioreconstruct caught a glimpse of Toothless situated in How To Train Your Dragon — Isle of Berk. Universal has previously shared that Toothless will be available for guests to meet in How To Train Your Dragon — Isle of Berk, and it seems he has found his way to his perch in the new land. ©Universal We can’t wait to meet Toothless! His toothless grin very adorable along with his loving nature. The new How To Train Your Dragon land will feature Viking statues, a sparkling lagoon, three rides, three dining locations, meet-and-greets, a new show, a kids’ play area, and lots of shopping options. It will feature details from the first and second How To Train Your Dragon movies, which we are really excited to experience ourselves! ©Universal We’ll be watching for more exciting details to show up at Epic Universe as construction begins. Universal has yet to reveal an official opening day of the new park, but we’re keeping our eyes and ears open for any new information! For more Epic Universe news, keep following DFB! The only constant is change — and that’s especially true at Disney World. Magic Kingdom Walt Disney believed that the parks would never truly be finished, and we’ve seen that firsthand lately with new rides, restaurants, and even massive transformations like we saw at EPCOT. But, Disney isn’t showing any signs of slowing down at all and we’re predicting three huge changes for Disney World in 2025. Let’s get into it. Disney World is going through some major changes — and we’re predicting even more for 2025! Impacted Crowds In case you haven’t heard, a brand new theme park is coming to Universal Orlando Resort in 2025! Epic Universe will be a third gate featuring lands like Celestial Park, The Wizarding World of Harry Potter – Ministry of Magic, SUPER NINTENDO WORLD, How to Train Your Dragon – Isle of Berk, and Dark Universe. And, because this brand new park is opening in 2025 — we have a hunch that Disney World crowds could be impacted. Aerial overview of Epic Universe via bioreconstruct We could see things going two different ways. On the one hand, it’s possible that folks will be forced to decide between a vacation to Disney World or a vacation to Epic Universe, which could lead to fewer crowds at Disney World if people ultimately decide to go to Epic Universe. ©Universal On the other hand, though, people could just choose to combine vacations and tack on days at both Disney World and Epic Universe, which could lead to even more crowds at the Most Magical Place on Earth. Disney World also has quite a few new expansions and new lands in the works, but most of which aren’t set to open until after 2025. That doesn’t mean we won’t start seeing changes though! Should You Ditch Your Disney World Annual Pass for a Universal One? Construction Everywhere Speaking of those changes coming to Disney World… remember all those walls all around EPCOT we all just recently got over putting up with for years? Well, get ready because construction walls will no doubt be back in 2025 — and they will be everywhere! The Cars Land retheme and Villains Land expansion at Magic Kingdom will no doubt bring quite a bit of construction to the park, along with the new Monsters Inc. Land wreaking havoc at Hollywood Studios. Construction walls up And, of course — there’s the massive Tropical Americas retheme of DinoLand, U.S.A. at Animal Kingdom we’ll have to deal with. It’s unclear just how all of this construction will impact the parks, but you can likely expect to have to find some alternate routes on your 2025 visits — along with all those lovely, temporary construction walls. No More Virtual Queues Okay — hear us out. We know this one is kind of wild, but it’s quite possible that we could see no virtual queues at Disney World in 2025! Right now, there are only two virtual queues at Disney World: Tiana’s Bayou Adventure at Magic Kingdom and Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind at EPCOT. TRON also debuted with a virtual queue, but the ride officially switched to standby on September 9th, 2024. Cosmic Rewind Disney typically uses a virtual queue system when a new ride opens in an effort to manage capacity. But, after a while, the virtual queue usually goes away once the initial hype for a ride has died down. TRON didn’t have a VQ for nearly as long as other rides have, like Cosmic Rewind for example, which has had one of the longest-running VQs since opening. Depending on the demand for Cosmic Rewind and Tiana’s Bayou Adventure, we could see those rides switch to standby before too long, meaning we could see a Disney World with no virtual queues at all. Tiana’s Bayou Adventure in Disney World’s Magic Kingdom As of now, no new Disney World rides are slated to open in 2025 — except for the newly reimagined Test Track at EPCOT. It’s certainly possible that Disney could opt to use a virtual queue for Test Track when it opens, but as of now, we don’t have any official word on that. Cosmic Rewind could hang onto its VQ for a while as it is an incredibly popular EPCOT ride, but Disney did previously indicate that Tiana’s would switch to standby not too long after opening. But, we don’t claim to know the future — so we’ll have to wait until 2025 to see if we’re right about that! The EPCOT Food & Wine Festival is underway, and we’ve been enjoying everything the festival offers. 2024 EPCOT Food & Wine Festival There’s obviously a LOT of food to try at all the various food booths, and we spent the first weekend of the festival tasting EVERYTHING. Then there’s some fun entertainment, including the Eat to the Beat concert series where you can catch some live music from some pretty notable artists during the festival. However, there are also a lot of festival drinks, and we’ve told you about some of our favorites, but now we’ve got to tell you which ones you need to avoid. So let’s get to those drinks you should just not bother with. Belgium At the Belgium booth, you can get the Belgian Chilled Coffee, which is basically a cold coffee with cream and sugar. That’s it. It’s nothing special, and it was basically pretty bland, especially when you compare it to the Joffrey’s offerings for the festival. Belgian Chilled Coffee We didn’t hate it, but we just want to tell you not to spend your money on it and try something else instead. There is a boozy version with ChocoLat Deluxe Salted Caramel Chocolate Liqueur available, and that COULD be a little better. Read our full Belgium review here Brew-Wing Lab It should come as no surprise that the booth that gave us the Pickle Milkshake has also given us the 3 Daughters Brewing Pickle Hard Seltzer, and if that sounds gross to you, trust us, IT IS GROSS. That’s literally the word our reporter used after tasting it. Just say no to pickle seltzer (on the far left) So basically imagine the worst, and you might be close to what it tastes like: sorta like super salty water with a hint of sweetness. Yep, disgusting. Read our full review of Brew-Wing China The China booth this year was kinda a big fail for us, and that included the Mango Peach Bubble Tea, made with Green tea, mango and peach syrups, and white boba. First, there was no boba in it — like it was missing from ours. That’s a bit of an oversight. Mango Peach Bubble Tea But also, this tea did not taste like real mango. Instead, it tasted artificial, and that’s a real downer. So, we’re going to stick with our initial assessment of this food booth and tell you to skip it. Read our full review of the China booth Italy Oh, Italy booth. You were SUCH a big disappointment, and we’re still not quite over those weird nachos you’re serving. However, we need to talk about the Bellini Spritz. It’s a new offering this year, but it’s very strong, VERY tart (we’re talking lip-puckering stuff), and bitter. Bellini Spritz Overall, we thought it tasted like medicine! If you don’t like spritzes, you certainly won’t like this one, but even if you do, you still might not like this one. Read our full review of Italy Swirled Showcase The Daughters Toasted Coconut Porter Float with vanilla soft-serve is a BIG skip for us. These are flavors that just did not blend well at all, and there’s a VERY bitter aftertaste. YUCK. The Coconut Float The other two drinks here, the Frozen Apple Pie and the Berry-vanilla Float made with La Gioiosa Berry Fizz and vanilla soft-serve were also big SKIPS for us — so just don’t get ANYTHING to drink here. These are drinks Disney should not have thought to “showcase.” Read our full review of Swirled Showcase So, if you’re headed to the EPCOT Food & Wine Festival, steer clear of these drinks if you come across them. You can thank us later. Stay tuned to DFB for more. We May Have Found an Unfortunate Side Effect of the EPCOT Food and Wine Festival.. IT'S WINE & DINE TIME! Food & Wine Festival can be a bummer. Is there any place where a foodie feels more at home than at EPCOT?? Japan Pavilion Now when it comes to your dining experience, Disney usually leads the way to accommodate for all types of food allergies, which makes it incredibly easy to recommend just about any restaurant for people dealing with a particular allergy. That being said, there is this one EPCOT restaurant that absolutely CANNOT accommodate this one specific food allergy, so let’s talk about it! As we were saying, if you’re someone who’s all about EPCOT’s food scene, chances are high that you’ve probably heard of Takumi-Tei. This signature dining restaurant in the Japan Pavilion is known for its gorgeous interior, authentic dishes, and top-notch service. However, if you’re dealing with a corn syrup allergy, I’ve got some bad news: Takumi-Tei is not the place for you. Takumi-Tei So, here’s the deal. While most Disney restaurants go above and beyond to accommodate food allergies (seriously, they’re incredible that way), Takumi-Tei has a specific ingredient that makes this a no-go if you’re allergic to corn syrup: Mirin. For those unfamiliar, mirin is a sweet rice wine used in a lot of Japanese cooking, and here’s the kicker, it contains corn syrup. ©279 Victoria St Now, Takumi-Tei is upfront about this in its allergy policy. If you inquire about dining there with a corn syrup allergy, they’ll tell you, “Unfortunately we do use mirin as a part of the authentic Japanese cooking which contains corn syrup. Therefore, if you have a serious corn syrup allergy we will not be able to assist you.” Menu So, even though they’d love to welcome everyone, the use of mirin is a non-negotiable part of their cooking style. If corn syrup is a problem for you, it’s probably best to sit this one out and explore some of the other allergy-friendly options EPCOT has to offer. Dessert Now, we ate all that Takumi-Tei had to offer, so if you want to check out our review, check out our link below. In the meantime, we’re always on the lookout for the latest Disney news, so stay tuned for more. An all-new Avatar experience is coming to Disney California Adventure at Disneyland Resort! Disney California Adventure In August 2024, Disney Experiences Chairman Josh D’Amaro made a surprising announcement at D23 2024: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event. Okay… he actually dropped a TON of surprising announcements, and one of them is the Avatar expansion at Disney California Adventure at the Disneyland Resort! And that, of course, begs the question: When will this new Avatar section open? You may already be familiar with Pandora — The World of AVATAR located in Disney World’s Animal Kingdom. But Disney shares that this new destination in Disney California Adventure will “bring Pandora to life in a brand-new way,” inspired primarily by Avatar: The Way of Water, Avatar: Fire and Ash and more upcoming Avatar films. Concept art for an Avatar area in Anaheim ©Disney Though this project was officially confirmed by Disney Experiences Chairman Josh D’Amaro in August 2024, we have been following developments on this story for a little while. Pandora Concept Art ©Disney In March 2024, Disney CEO Bob Iger stated the following during the Morgan Stanley Technology, Media, and Telecom Conference: “We have one Avatar-based land, Pandora, in Florida. We’re going to put a second one in California.” D’Amaro’s announcement serves as the official confirmation. ©Disney This addition will be part of multi-year expansion project in Disneyland. The DisneylandForward website describes “DisneylandForward” as “a multiyear public planning effort with the City of Anaheim to update existing development approvals that will allow Disney to meaningfully invest in Anaheim for years to come and meet the future demands in entertainment.” This has been a proposal that has been in the works since 2021. ©Disney On May 7th, 2024, a historic vote was made by the Anaheim City Council to officially APPROVE the DisneylandForward project! This means that Disneyland can begin to build new experiences for fans, create over 4,500 new jobs in the parks and over 9,000 new jobs in construction in the first 10 years, and bring new revenue to Anaheim. The new area of Pandora will be different than the one in Animal Kingdom and will feature new exciting sights and experiences. The new destination will have all-new adventures that explore Avatar: The Way of Water, Avatar: Fire and Ash, and more upcoming Avatar films. There will also be a brand-new ride! ©Disney D’Amaro confirmed that the new Coco attraction, a boat right with a similar style to other Disney classic boat rides like Pirates of the Caribbean and Gran Fiesta Tour, is scheduled to open in 2026. With the Avatar expansion being a whole new themed land, we expect a bit of a longer time frame to complete the project. No official dates have been announced, but we wouldn’t expect it before the end of 2026. We will share more information as soon as it is announced! ©Disney We CAN’T WAIT to share EVERYTHING about this exciting expansion as it is revealed. Extra, extra, read all about it! Seriously, we’re sure Disney World hasn’t had a wink of sleep because it has dropped so many new updates this week. If you’ve missed out, this is your chance to catch up! EPCOT I’m back again with another round of WHAT’S NEW UPDATES AT DISNEY WORLD, a rundown on all the epic news and updates that happened at Disney World this past week. This week, we got the 4-1-1 on a new permit filed for BIG Test Track changes, a BIG ride change coming to EPCOT next week, and one of our favorite Halloween treats is back for a LIMITED time! Are y’all ready? Okay, let’s go! Oh, yes. On September 21st, Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind will play ONE song for the entire day. Listen for “September” by Earth Wind and Fire if you visit the park! What better song to listen to on this special occasion? Make sure to grab a virtual queue reservation bright and early on September 21st if you’re interested in celebrating the day! The Celebrity Who REFUSES To Watch Toy Story 4 One of Our Favorite Halloween Treats Is BACK in Disney World for a Limited Time The Maleficent Waffle Cone first debuted in Disney World at the 2018 Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party where it was made with a lime soft-service ice cream. It then made a comeback at Storybook Treats for the return of the Maleficent Dragon Float for the Festival of Fantasy Parade in 2019. Now, it has returned again for Halloween at another popular Disney World ice cream shop in Disney Springs, but this time it has a surprising twist! Maleficent Waffle Cone This year, for Halloween, Swirls on the Water has brought back the Maleficent Cone! This revamped Maleficent Cone is made with pistachio and purple cheesecake soft-serve swirl in a black vanilla cone and topped with chocolate horns. It’s a fun new take on this popular ice cream cone for $6.49. Maleficent Cone at Swirls on the Water Of course, we had to give this new Maleficent Cone a try! It was a beautiful blend of the pistachio and cheesecake flavors. The chocolate horn pieces are hollow and cute, but they did have a hard staying on, so you might want to eat those first! The black vanilla cone is a nice touch aesthetically with the yellow sprinkles, but it’s not super important to the overall treat flavor. Maleficent Cone The Maleficent Cone isn’t the only Halloween treat you can find at Swirls on the Water. They also have a Pumpkin S’mores Sundae for $6.49, or you can get a taste of the pistachio and purple cheesecake ice cream, the pumpkin and toasted marshmallow ice cream, and the DOLE Whip Pineapple and vanilla swirl ice cream in the sampler for $7.99. Swirls on the Water Halloween menu Swirls on the Water is located along the water at the Marketplace in Disney Springs. They often offer limited-time seasonal items, so every time you stop by, you might find something new! If you like pistachio and cheesecake flavors, we recommend checking out the Maleficent Cone this year. Disney Springs has SO many things to do. You can choose from a wide variety of restaurants and shops, and see some great live entertainment. Disney Springs With so many dining options in Disney Springs, it can be a bit overwhelming to decide where to eat. Well, here at DFB, we are always trying out food to give you the best recommendations on where to eat during your Disney World vacation. Today, we are headed over to Disney Springs to try out a restaurant that you may not have known even existed. We are trying out a food truck (yep, a food truck!) that is tucked into Disney Springs and offers a menu of Mexican food. Atmosphere The 4 Rivers Cantina Barbacoa Food Truck is located on the West Side of Disney Springs. It is in an area with a selection of food trucks across from Disney’s Candy Cauldron. When we were there you could find a total of three food trucks: 4 Rivers Cantina Barbacoa, Cilantro Urban Eatery, and GoJuice. 4 Rivers Food Truck The area is currently pretty bare and there are only a few tables scattered around. The worker at the food truck said that a lot of the tables and chairs had been removed due to the nightly drone show. There are a few tables surrounding the tree, as well as some tables behind the 4 Rivers Food Truck. However, all of the seating is outdoors and there was very little shade in the area. Not much seating available To order, you just head up to the food truck and place your order. Your name gets called when your order is ready and you just head back up to grab your food. Let’s take a look at what is on the menu at the 4 Rivers Food Truck. Menu The menu is fairly limited, but you can still find a decent selection of Mexican dishes. You can choose from a taco cone, birria tacos, birria quesadilla, street tacos, or a burrito bowl. Each of the meals comes with your choice of filling from the following list: brisket barbacoa, chicken tinga, adobo pork, tri-tip steak, or roasted sweet potato. 4 Rivers Menu You can also get a side of black beans and rice or a dip trio. They have one option for kids which is a cheese quesadilla. For drinks, you can grab a bottle of water or choose from a variety of canned drinks. Let’s take a look a what we ended up ordering! Eats We chose a couple of items to hopefully get a good sample of what the 4 Rivers Food Truck offers! We got street tacos, a taco cone, and a dip trio. Full Spread We started off with the Taco Cone with Adobo Pork which costs $12.50. The taco cone includes your choice of filling, shredded lettuce, guacamole, sour cream, Pico de Gallo, queso, cilantro, jalapeño, and a lime wedge. Taco Cone The Taco Cone has SO much meat in it! We got the Adobo Pork and it was tender and flavorful. The pork is shredded and the seasoning reminded us of the taco seasoning in the packets. The jalapeños add a kick to the dish, but it would be easy enough to take them out if you don’t like spicy. The Pico de Gallo added a good freshness and the sour cream added a creamy element that helped to soften the kick of the jalapeños a bit. Taco Cone with Adobo Pork The guacamole tasted good too, but it is just your average guacamole in our opinion. We only found a bit of the lettuce in this dish and we definitely wish there was more. The cone is a unique way to serve this dish, although it was a bit difficult to eat (plus, if you want to set the cone down at all it was a bit of a struggle!) There was definitely no lacking in the meat department in this taco, but we do wish there were some other toppings in this dish like rice or beans. Inside the Taco Cone Next up, we tried the Street Tacos with Chicken Tinga. The street tacos include your choice of filling with guasacaca, crème fraiche, pico de gallo, queso fresco and cilantro in a grilled tortilla, with lime and jalapeño. You can grab the street tacos for $12.25. Street Tacos We thought the star of this dish was the tortillas! They were a great thickness and were grilled for a really yummy texture. We chose the Chicken Tinga as our filling and we thought it was delicious. The meat was really juicy and full of flavor. Street Tacos with Chicken Tinga We thought the toppings on the tacos really pulled everything together. The Pico de Gallo added freshness and the queso fresco was a perfect creamy addition. These were some really delicious tacos and we thought the serving size was fantastic for the price! Let’s dig in! Finally, we also tried the Cantina Trio for $8.50. The trio contains Pico de Gallo, guacamole, and queso with fresh tortilla chips. Cantina Trio This was probably our least favorite dish that we tried. The tortilla chips weren’t anything special and the dips fell short in our opinion. Our favorite was the queso. It was creamy and had a very strong cheese taste. We would compare it to a white plastic cheese queso, but we really enjoyed it. There wasn’t much depth of flavor to it, it mostly just tasted like cheese. The guacamole was your classic guacamole, but wasn’t anything that really wowed us. There was plenty of avocado flavor with a hint of tomato and onion. Guacamole, Queso, and Pico de Gallo Our least favorite was the Pico de Gallo. The one we got tasted like it had likely been sitting for a while and did not taste fresh at all. The Pico did have a slight kick to it and the tomatoes had a lot of sweetness to them. There was good potential, but unfortunately, it fell flat with the lack of freshness. Nosh or Not? You might want to stop by the 4 Rivers Food Truck if… You are in Disney Springs looking for an easy place to get tacos. While they may not be the best tacos you will ever eat, they are still really tasty! If you are in Disney Springs and craving a quick taco, the 4 Rivers Food Truck could be a great option. You want an easy snack or meal option with a view of the water. The 4 Rivers Food Truck can be a great spot if you want to grab a quick bite without having to deal with making reservations. You can simply walk up and order, and have your food shortly after. Plus, you can enjoy your food with a view of the water. You think eating out of a taco cone sounds like a great meal. The Taco Cone is definitely a unique meal and if you are hoping to try one, 4 Rivers Food Truck has you covered! You may want to stop somewhere else in Disney Springs if… You want to grab really fresh Mexican food. While the 4 Rivers Food Truck could be great for some quick tacos, it won’t be the freshest Mexican food you can find in Disney Springs. We recommend Frontera Cocina for Mexican food, or Jaleo for Spanish food. You want to eat somewhere with lots of seating and air-conditioning. One of the biggest downside of the food truck is that there is VERY limited seating and it is all outside. If the weather is great, this could be a good option, but during a warm day it isn’t the most pleasant eating experience. If you are looking for a quick service restaurant with indoor seating, try checking out eet by Maneet Chauhan, Blaze Pizza, The Polite Pig, D-Luxe Burger, or Earl of Sandwich. You want a restaurant with a lot of food options. 4 Rivers Food Truck does not have a huge menu full of options. If you are eating with a bigger group or have picky eaters, this may not be the best option. Restaurants like House of Blues or Summer House on the Lake have menus with more options. Overall While we enjoyed the food we got at the 4 Rivers Cantina Barbacoa Food Truck for the most part, we feel like there wasn’t anything that really knocked our socks off. The street tacos were tasty and we liked the uniqueness of the Taco Cone, but the Cantina Trio was a disappointment. The lack of seating and all the seating being outdoors are big negatives, and there is so much amazing food in Disney Springs. We think this could be a great spot for a quick bite to eat, but we highly recommend checking out other restaurants at Disney Springs if you are looking for a better overall experience. Oh, fall, we love you so much. Granted, it’s still pretty warm in Southern California, but that doesn’t mean we can’t enjoy the other things that fall brings. Jolly Holiday We’re all about hitting up Starbucks for our morning Pumpkin Spice Latte, after all. We’re also checking out a ton of Halloween treats in Disneyland. We’ve even been to Oogie Boogie Bash to celebrate all things spooky, which also meant we got to check out some party-exclusive spooky treats. Now, we’re heading over to one of our favorite quick service dining spots to try a NEW fall treat — and we’ll tell you right now, you’ll want to order it, too. We’re heading over to Jolly Holiday Bakery Cafe in Disneyland to check out a brand new snack, the Pear Blackberry Cheesecake Crostata for $6.79. That just SOUNDS like fall, right? It’s made with fresh pears with New York cheesecake and blackberry jam in a pie crust, topped with caramel. SO COZY, so autumnal. Pear Blackberry Cheesecake Crostata This treat is FULL of fresh and sweet flavors. The juicy pieces of pear with the blackberry jam mixed in tastes SO nice and that sweet berry flavor just meshes so well with everything else. The creamy cheesecake offers a slight tang, but mostly what you taste is the fruit. The caramel flavor is mild, but you can taste it in some bites. Delicious! The crust is buttery, just like you’d want it to be, with a touch of sweet flavor, although the texture was a little crunchy. We think this one is a solid snack that everyone will like, especially if you’re looking for a light and fresher dessert in Disneyland. DELISH. SO good! We highly suggest giving this one a taste for yourself, so if you find yourself in Disneyland, head on over to Jolly Holiday Bakery Cafe. While you’re there, don’t forget to order that fabulous Toasted Cheese sandwich for lunch — it’s one of the best grilled cheese sandwiches we’ve ever had! Stay tuned to DFB for more. It is not only the theme parks and Disney Springs that have great dining options at Disney World. Skipper Canteen Disney World’s hotels have SO MANY great dining options. Depending on whether you choose to stay at a Value, Moderate, or Deluxe Resort, your dining options increase. Value Resorts only have food courts, whereas Moderate Resorts will have a food court with some other quick-service and table-service options. Deluxe Resorts have the most dining options; for example, the Grand Floridian has over a dozen dining options, including a food court, a character dining experience, and the luxurious Victoria and Albert’s. But we have a controversial hotel restaurant statement to make. We love to dine around Disney World, and since we go to Disney World every day, we eat there every day. Since we go so often, we have developed an opinion that not everyone might agree with. Mickey Pretzel There are five Value Resorts at Disney World: the three All-Star Resorts (All-Star Sports, All-Star Movies, and All-Star Music), Pop Century, and Art of Animation. While Value Resorts only offers a food court option, we think Value Resort food courts are way better than the ones at Deluxe Resorts. Everything Pop Value Resort food courts are enormous and have an extensive menu. While they are nothing fancy, there are some really solid options. You can order full-size pizzas, burgers, sandwiches, seasonal entrees, and so many fun snacks and desserts. World Premiere Food Court Great food options are available for all three meal times, making it a quick one-stop shop for all your dining needs. Sometimes, our local team will head to a Value Resort to pick up food since you can easily Mobile Order from all five Value Resort food courts. Intermission Food Court Do not get us wrong, we love the quick service options at Deluxe Resorts, like Gasparilla Island Grill at the Grand Floridian or Primo Piatto at The Riviera, but the number of items on the Value Resort food court menus blows Deluxe Resorts out of the water. Breakfast Spread from Intermission Food Court Plus, if you stay at a Value Resort, you can still make a reservation to dine at other resorts, and your reservation allows you to park at the resort you choose to dine at! If you do not have your own car, there are still ways to get to the other hotels using Disney transportation. For example, those staying at Pop Century or Art of Animation can easily hop on the Skyliner to dine at Caribbean Beach, a Moderate Resort, or the Riviera, a Deluxe Resort. Skyliner Station at Disney Pop Century Resort and Disney’s Art of Animation Resort While each Value Resorts only has one dining option, it is still a really good option with a large selection that can cater to an array of palates! I’ve been going to Disney World pretty much since I could walk, and that means I’ve got a good grip on what my “must-dos” are in every park. EPCOT And, although both Disney World and myself have changed here and there over the years, there are typically some things I always have to do no matter what. Ask me again in another 10 years and I’m sure my answers will change — but as someone who has been going to Disney World for 30 years, this is my ultimate ritual at EPCOT. I’ve been lucky enough to visit Disney World pretty frequently over my lifetime and there are just some rituals I can’t escape (not that I’ve ever truly tried). While some didn’t become rituals until I was legally allowed to partake in them, I can’t stop myself from doing these things pretty much every time I’m in the best Disney World park. Yep, I said it. Ride Spaceship Earth I know, I know — how could someone who goes to Disney World so often fall victim to the trap that is Spaceship Earth? The line for this ride can sometimes get a little chaotic since it’s the first one you come across when entering from the front of the park. People see a ride and get in line, and in this case. It’s me. I’m “people.” EPCOT BUT Spaceship Earth is a classic and no matter how much it creaks and sounds like it’s going to break down at any moment, I still love it. There is a caveat here, though, I’m not waiting in the line if it’s more than, say, 20 minutes. I’ve got another important ritual that often takes precedence over Dame Judy Dench (just kidding Judy, you’re an icon!) and if you’ve learned anything about me since you started reading this, you can probably see where this is going. Get a Margarita from Mexico The age-old adage states that Mexico is the best World Showcase pavilion to start out in, and who am I to upset the ancestors? I shall honor them by beelining toward the nearest margarita. Depending on crowd levels, the temperature, and my general disposition on any particular day, I’ll either stop by Choza de Margarita or the Holy Grail of tequila bars, La Cava del Tequila. Mexico Pavilion Choza is a great option if you’re looking for a frozen margarita, but they’ve got some solid options on the rocks as well. I love the El Diablo, which is made with Lalo blanco tequila, Dos Hombres mezcal, fresh lime juice, agave, cucumber-jalapeño juice, and a hibiscus salt rim. The line can get pretty long here, though, and it’s mostly out in the sun. Choza de Margarita La Cava del Tequila can also draw quite a long line since it’s such a popular spot, but more often than not that line is inside the Mexico pyramid, in the air conditioning. There are quite a few different margaritas and tequila-based drinks here, but my favorite is La Paloma made with Lalo blanco tequila, Fever Tree grapefruit soda, fresh lime, Dos Hombres mezcal and a Tajín chile-lime powder rim. While not technically a margarita, it’s incredibly refreshing without being overly sweet! La Cava del Tequila You can also get a few different margaritas at La Cantina de San Angel, but they’re pretty basic. They’ll still do in a pinch, though! Stroll Around World Showcase Now that I’ve taken care of an incredibly important task, my next move is to stroll around World Showcase and see where the wind blows me. EPCOT is all about vibes in my opinion, so I’ll generally stroll into a pavilion or two depending on what I’m feeling. Maybe I want to grab some lefse from the Norway Pavilion or grab a pretzel from Germany — the World Showcase is my oyster and I would be a fool to pass up a good opportunity when I see it. Spaceship Earth as seen from EPCOT’s World Showcase The Fez House in the Morocco Pavilion — along with the little bazaar area in the back — are also some top choices to sit and chill for a bit. They’re often quiet places to relax and can provide some shade on a hot day, too. Don’t sleep on the sangria for two at the little bar back there, either! But, no matter what sort of vibes I’m feeling at EPCOT on any given day, there are two pit stops I’ll always make part of my ritual. Pit Stop at House of Good Fortune Tucked away in the back of the China Pavilion is the House of Good Fortune. This not-so-little shop is home to some of the coolest souvenirs and merchandise in all of EPCOT. Looking for a bamboo hat? They’ve got it. Want an expanding fan to cool yourself off with? They’ve got that. Oh, you wanted to come home from Disney World with a real Chinese sword or even some expensive jade dragons? You can do that, too — thanks to the House of Good Fortune. Scallion Radish chips I could seriously spend hours in here just looking through all the different items. You can find Chinese candy, snacks, tea, clothing, and so much more. Plus, it’s air-conditioned! Pit Stop at Mitsukoshi Over in the Japan Pavilion, you’ll find a somewhat similar shop called Mitsukoshi, which is a Japanese department store. Like House of Good Fortune, Mitsukoshi is a haven for all sorts of goodies like katanas (not signed by Randy Jackson, unfortunately) and kimonos (yes, even ones for your dog). There’s lots of Sanrio and Studio Ghibli merchandise, along with plenty of Nintendo items, too. This is also where you’ll find a pick-a-pearl experience that can be fun for kiddos. Sake at Mitsukoshi In the back of Mitsukoshi, there are plenty of snacks, candy, matcha, mochi, sake, and more — along with quite the selection of Japanese tea sets and chopsticks. You’ll also find a section dedicated to Japanese incense, including a scent that reminds me of Pirates of the Caribbean. It’s called Aqua by Nippon Kodo and comes in a blue box! A Ride on the Greatest EPCOT Attraction (This is a straight-up fact because this is my ritual and I make the rules here!!!) Living with the Land is, without a question, the greatest EPCOT attraction. You may disagree, but you’d be wrong (just kidding, but we all know I’m right). No matter what sort of EPCOT day I end up having, I always make time for Living with the Land. This relaxing boat ride through the Land Pavilion greenhouses is not only serene but as a self-proclaimed plant lady it just strikes a special chord with me. Plus, you can’t deny that the pan flute solo is a certified banger. Spooky season here and there is a LOT going on over on the West Coast. ©The Hollywood Roosevelt Disneyland, Disney California Adventure, Downtown Disney, and Disney’s hotels are all decked out for Halloween. Oogie Boogie Bash is underway in California Adventure (and is sold out, in case you were wondering). Universal Hollywood’s Halloween Horror Nights is happening. But a NEW Halloween event is coming that is basically taking the concept of Halloween Horror Nights, but giving it a Disney theme — AND WE HAVE TO GO. D23 is hosting an event called “D23 Tune-in To Terror: A Hollywood Halloween—Presented by Disney+” and it will basically take you inside some of your favorite Disney Halloween movies and TV shows. So yes, it’s sort of like Halloween Horror Nights at Universal, but everything has a Disney theme. You’re invited to attend a special event at The Roosevelt Hollywood on October 26th, 2024, for a night of spooky fun where YOU are the star. ©D23 There, you’ll be able to step into your favorite spooky Disney movies and TV shows with “supernatural spaces set to make all viewers the star of the show.” That includes a space called “The Tip Top Club,” which as you may know sits at the top of the Hollywood Tower Hotel (considering the event is at a REAL historical Hollywood hotel, the vibes are genuine). There, you’ll kick off your experience by checking in and getting a “room key,” a.k.a. a special gift for the event. Enjoy a drink in the lobby and then take in some live jazz while chatting with other hotel guests (some of which very well may be ghosts). Hollywood Tower Hotel You can also dance the night away in the “The Black Flame Ballroom,” inspired by Hocus Pocus and Hocus Pocus 2. A band will be playing live to put a “Spell on You” — and who knows who might end up crashing the party! Perhaps you’ll bump into a trio of sister witches… Visit the seance room of the Haunted Mansion in “The Happiest Haunt,” where you’ll be encouraged to grab some “spectral snacks” (okay, we are in) and get a fun Seance Room photo opportunity while visiting regions beyond. Visit the Seance Room! Don’t forget to spend some time in “The Witches’s Road Lounge,” inspired by the upcoming Disney+ series, Agatha All Along. We hear the soundtrack is “a gas” with a DJ that “whisks you into the insidious and perfidious sides of magic.” Okay, that sounds like FUN! Oh, did we mention that costumes are encouraged? YES!!! Agatha at Oogie Boogie Bash Ticket prices are as follows: Preferred “Prime Time” Ticket – Gold x Disney+: $239 (+$7 processing fee) Preferred “Prime Time” Ticket – General x Disney+: $269 (+$7 processing fee) Regular Ticket – Gold x Disney+: $179 (+$7 processing fee) Regular Ticket – General x Disney+: $219 (+$7 processing fee) A ticket will get you entry into all three floors of the event, photo ops, and more. You’ll also get live entertainment, along with some fun surprises, as well as hors d’oeuves and snacks, a commemorative event pin, and an exclusive created just for the event. If you get the Prime Time entry, you’ll also get priority access and a dedicated entry queue; a drink ticket that can be used for beer, house wine, well drink, soda, or bottled water; and a commemorative print featuring artwork inspired by the Tip Top Club at the Hollywood Tower Hotel, with gold foil details. Tip Top Club at Disney’s Hollywood Studios’ Jollywood Nights Tickets are limited, but if you’re ready to grab them, you can do so here. You will have to be a D23 member to buy tickets, but don’t worry — you can sign up for the free membership to buy general tickets. However, members of D23 Gold will get discounted tickets. Don’t forget! This is an exclusive event for Disney+ subscribers and D23 Members. Stay tuned to DFB for more. See What the FIRST Night of Disney’s SOLD-OUT Oogie Boogie Bash Is Like! BIG pretzels? A bright, sunny dining room? Warm, savory snacks? We’re IN. You coming? Let’s eat! We’ve been on a mission to visit some of those “off the beaten path” restaurants in Disney World, and today, we’re headed to Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort! You’ll find some fun spots to eat around this hotel, like Barcelona Lounge and Siesta’s Cantina Pool Bar. But this time, we’re headed to the quick-service location at this big resort. Is this spot worth visiting? Let’s find out! El Mercado de Coronado is the resident quick-service restaurant at Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort. Inside, you’re treated to an open dining room adorned with high ceilings, bright skylights, and colorful furniture pieces that really give a homey touch. El Mercado de Coronado Inside you’ll find multiple food stations featuring Tex-Mex options served alongside classic quick-service “go-to” menu items like pizza, pasta, burgers, and chicken strips. When you’re ready to wind down your meal, there’s even several pastry and baked goods options for dessert! Atmosphere Now that you know a little bit about the vibe here, it’s easy to see how this quick-service theme fits so nicely within the Spanish influence found throughout not only the restaurants and dining experiences here, but the rest of the hotel as well. Come on in! If you’re not familiar with where to find El Mercado de Coronado, once you see the colorful decor, it’s hard to miss it. This restaurant is neighbored by the Rix Cafe on the opposite side of the hallway and just a short walk away from the Maya Grill at the opposite end of the main building. Entrance to the restaurant Once you move past the iron gate entrance, you’re instantly dropped into the open dining area, where you’ll find ample seating areas in booth-style seats… Booth seats …standalone tables and chairs… Tables and chairs …and a few hightop tables that can be shared between multiple families or large groups of people. Longer tables Towards the center of the space, you’ll find the beverage stations, which are built for fountain beverages… Beverage Station …as well as hot coffees, tea, and hot chocolate. Hot chocolate If you look around, you’ll find several self-service stations for plastic utensils and napkins to pick up at your leisure. Self service utensils And just beyond the vast dining room, you’ll find the grab ‘n go section with cold selections, bagged and portioned sides, and bottled drinks. Grab ‘n go section Adjacent from there, you’ll see the multiple food stations we mentioned before where you’re able to walk up and place your order. Food! This might be a little overwhelming to see at first, but once you’ve had time to scope out the foods you want to order, it’s a fairly easy process. Menu All this talk of ordering food has made us hungry, but we almost forgot to talk about what’s available on the menu at this restaurant! To start us off, there’s a souvenir refillable mug to keep you hydrated during your vacation and a few handheld options… ©Disney …a few choices of sides and a build your own bowl station. ©Disney The food order lines are split up into categories like Tex-Mex Entrees & King Knot Pretzels… ©Disney …Pastas… ©Disney …a few kid’s selections and grab and go options… ©Disney … as well as an extensive array of desserts, pastries… ©Disney …and snacks. ©Disney Whew, that’s quite the selection. How do you choose from it all? Eats Once we had time to look through our order and narrow down our options (because there were just so many we wanted to try out), we were able to settle on just a few to give you a well-rounded look at what awaits you here. We opted for the Buffalo Chicken Sandwich and Chicken Parmesan and couldn’t help but pick up both the Pepperoni and Cinnamon Pretzels. Yeah, that’s A LOT of food! Full spread We figure the best way to tackle this meal is in small doses, so let’s start with the smallest dish of this review. We grabbed the Chicken Parmesan for $18. This entree is made of fried chicken breast topped with melted mozzarella cheese and served over penne pasta tossed in marinara sauce. There’s also a garlic knot to accompany your dish. Chicken Parmesan This one didn’t exactly hit a home run for us! The crispy chicken breast had a thin outer breaded coating that was almost buttery against the noodles and sauce, which had good flavor on its own. The chicken inside was tender and felt more like true chicken meat than a processed patty. However, that’s where the good news about this dish kind of just stops. Cross section of the chicken The noodles appear to be kept separate from the marinara sauce until it comes time to prepare the dish. This isn’t necessarily a bad thing, it just hinted that we shouldn’t have expected much flavor from the pasta noodles since they were newly mixed with the rest of the spices blended within the sauce. The noodles were very flexible but truly had very little taste to them outside of just the regular, bland pasta taste. They definitely needed the help from the rest of what was mixed into the dish to help it out, but in a pinch, we could see this being a decent option. With the noodles It’s also served with a single garlic knot that was oily and garlicky in all the right places and was such a welcomed addition to what we felt we were missing from this dish by itself. Garlic knot Next up it was time to try out the Buffalo Chicken Sandwich! This dish costs $16 and is made of grilled or crispy chicken breast dipped in garlic buffalo hot sauce, topped with blue cheese dressing, lettuce, tomato, onions, and served with your choice of a side — in our case, this one came with a side of fries. Buffalo Chicken Sandwich We almost had to admit defeat over this one! Y’all — this one is spicy and knows how to bring the HEAT! Our reporter openly admitted their immense love for buffalo sauce, but this one was extra spicy. OK, without being overly dramatic, the spicy heat you’ll get from this one was around a medium range; our reporter likened it to just about the same spiciness you would get from Chick-fil-A’s buffalo sauce. Just the sandwich It’s served with fries, which are fairly standard across Disney World properties in terms of taste and size, but these are thicker-cut fries than what most quick-service restaurants typically serve. Fries! The chicken in the sandwich tastes similar to the chicken patty we had in the Chicken Parmesan dish, however, it’s completely saturated in spicy sauce. The blue cheese dressing you’ll find in the top half of the sandwich tastes more like a ranch dressing and is almost overpowered by the buffalo sauce. The sandwich we picked up didn’t come with any vegetables like the menu suggests, so if those are important to your sandwich, you’ll want to be aware that they’re supposed to be dressed with lettuce, tomato, and onion. Half of the sandwich Then it was time to really up the ante — and this time, we were going big! We kicked off the home stretch of our review by digging into the Pepperoni Pretzel. First, we literally had to stare at this thing for a few minutes because we were in awe of its size. Pepperoni Pretzel We’ve seen some jumbo pretzels before in Disney’s Animal Kingdom, but they look like ants compared to how completely oversized these pretzels are! This one will cost you $21 and it will also come with marinara sauce to dip your pretzel pieces into. It’s topped with garlic butter, mozzarella cheese, and cupping pepperoni topped with parmesan parsley. Served in a box After we picked our jaws up off the floor, we decided it was time to tackle this beast of a pretzel! Obviously, there’s a lot of dough here, and we were READY to take a bite. A section of pretzel The pepperoni was decently spiced with a low heat, but it gave a great salty and savory snack vibe big enough for multiple people to split and share. Marinara sauce We’ve gotta be brutally honest with you, though. This has a hefty price tag, and if you’re really wanting to get to it at its best, we recommend digging into it almost as soon as you get it to the table because it just didn’t hit the same way after it had sat for a little while we ate the other dishes in our meal. Dipped in the marinara If you’re into sweeter treats, you might be one to order the Cinnamon Pretzel instead. There is a bit of a price difference with this version. This is a sugar, cinnamon, and buttered pretzel available for $19. This one also is served with cream cheese icing, caramel, and chocolate sauce. Cinnamon Pretzel This one really threw our reporter for a loop. As much as they wanted to like the pepperoni version more, the cinnamon came out on top! Sure, the base pretzel is the same as the other; however, the cinnamon sugar was lightly coated around the pretzel in the perfect way. Comes with sauces As it started to cool off, the butter and sugar started the crystalize and flake off together, kind of like what you would experience with doughnut icing! Mmm, chocolate! This gave us the impression that the butter brushed all over the pretzel before the cinnamon sugar was added truly was the tie that bound this treat together. However, it was made even more excellent when you were able to dip it into the sweet sauces waiting for you on the sidelines. Overall Overall, wrapping up our meal here left us feeling a bit indifferent. On one hand, we were thrilled to have found such unique eats in these ginormous pretzels. That said, not all of the food we ate was spectacular. Not all can be winners Admittedly, we were a bit disappointed by the lack of more Tex-Mex cuisine offerings available at such a popular hotel; however, in fairness, we did stop by for a late lunch when some of those more authentic dinner options weren’t offered yet. Nosh or Not? We think you should find your way over if… Anything goes for you in the moment! This restaurant seems to be a hodge podge of the selections you can get here so if you’re not quite sure what you’re hungry for yet and feel like deciding when you get there, this is a great place. You’ve got multiple pallets to please. While this almost goes hand in hand with our first point, if you’ve got people who want to eat completely opposite styles of meals and you’re looking for one place to do it all, you really can have it all here! You’re looking to feed a large group on a budget. This is a quick-service restaurant at its core. Since it’s located in one of Disney World’s well-known hotels for conventions and large groups, it knows how to get folks in and out in a hurry and stay as budget-friendly as possible in the process. The winds are calling you elsewhere if… Just because you CAN have it all doesn’t mean you want it. Sometimes too much variety in a choice can overcomplicate your ordering process so if that sounds like you, you might want to consider other restaurants. You’re looking for more authentic food at this hotel. While this hotel truly is a sight to behold, this restaurant is set up to offer more Americanized meals than they served when this location was formerly known as the Pepper Market. You want to be taken care of while you’re dining. The type of service you’re looking for will determine this. If you’re looking for a plated meal option with a server who will come around and assist you, consider the neighboring restaurants. The Jungle Cruise at Magic Kingdom has been undergoing refurbishment since August 26th. Jungle Cruise While specifics about the refurbishment are unknown, we do know that the ride will be closed until mid-October. It’s not uncommon for rides to close for refurbishment in Disney World. It’s how Disney is able to maintain its rides to ensure they work properly for many years to come. What is odd about this refurbishment, though, is the strange side effect it seemed to have caused in another area of Adventureland. Jungle Cruise The wild river ride closed on August 26th, and no this is not some joke the Skippers just came up with! While it has been closed, we’ve also noticed a few other water effects in Adventureland not running. For example, the camel near The Magic Carpets of Aladdin and the Tiki water feature have been shut off. We literally tried to get spit on by the camel, but the camel wasn’t spitting! Not spitting right now We talked to a Cast Member at The Magic Carpets ride who told us that both of these features are off in connection to the Jungle Cruise refurbishment! We thought this a very interesting effect of the work ongoing at the Jungle Cruise if it is actually connected. Jungle Cruise The punny ride will be closed for refurbishment, but will luckily reopen on October 18th, if everything goes to plan. If you’re visiting Magic Kingdom over the next month and a half, we’re sorry to report that you will not get to see the eighth wonder of the world — the backside of water. Hopefully, the next time you visit you’ll get to “ooo” and “ahhh” and this marvel! Keep reading to find out what else will be closed for the week of September 14th through September 20th! Magic Kingdom Frontierland Shootin’ Arcade We had to say goodbye to an opening day attraction on June 23rd. Frontierland Shootin’ Arcade The Frontierland Shootin’ Arcade was around for generations and provided simple fun to all who played. Now, the attraction has closed to make room for a new Disney Vacation Club lounge. This lounge will be the third in Disney World, joining one in EPCOT and one at Disney’s Contemporary Resort. Disney has not yet announced when the new lounge will open. Is This Disney World Game Plan SABOTAGING Your Magic Kingdom Park Day? Tomorrowland Terrace Tomorrowland Terrace is a quick-service restaurant that has been closed since the 2020 pandemic-related closures, but even before that, this spot was only occasionally open. Tomorrowland Terrace Once in a while, you’ll see the dining room open as a rest area (and it’s still being used for the Magic Kingdom Fireworks Dessert Parties), but it’s usually all roped off and empty. Beautiful view from Tomorrowland Terrace Disney hasn’t announced when this spot could finally reopen, but we’ll be watching for updates. If you’re looking for a nice spot to hang out in Disney World and sit down for a rest, this could be it! EPCOT Test Track Test Track closed on June 17th, and Disney is giving this ride a BIG makeover! Test Track Disney has shared that the new version of Test Track will take inspiration from the old ride, World of Motion, that was originally there when the park opened in 1982. Disney recently shared more details at D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Experience including an opening timeline! We’ll be able to ride Test Trace once again in 2025. Restaurant Marrakesh Restaurant Marrakesh is currently closed as a dining location in the Morocco pavilion of EPCOT’s World Showcase, and there’s no word yet on when the restaurant could fully reopen. Restaurant Marrakesh as the Florida Blue Lounge However, it is currently open as the Florida Blue Lounge during the EPCOT Food and Wine Festival. So if you’re in the Morocco Pavilion, check it out to see if it’s open. We’re watching for updates on when the full restaurant could reopen! The Sneaky Reason You Should Book an 8PM Reservation for These EPCOT Restaurants Hollywood Studios Voyage of the Little Mermaid Voyage of the Little Mermaid is currently closed in Disney World. But we recently spotted some construction walls up at the show! Voyage of the Little Mermaid Disney is going to introduce a new, updated show in this spot, though it will still be themed to the animated movie The Little Mermaid! The new show will be called “The Little Mermaid — A Musical Adventure” and is coming to Disney’s Hollywood Studios in Fall 2024. ©Disney Disney still hasn’t announced an official opening date for the new show, but hopefully, we’ll hear some news soon! It will be a “fully reimagined theatrical production inspired by the Walt Disney Animation Studios classic.” The 2 BEST Dates to Buy After Hours Tickets in Disney’s Hollywood Studios Blizzard Beach Blizzard Beach closed for refurbishment on March 17th. Blizzard Beach While Blizzard Beach is closed, Typhoon Lagoon is currently open. The two water parks often rotate off and on for being open. And recently Disney announced that Blizzard Beach will be reopening on November 4th when Typhoon Lagoon will close! Click here to learn all about Blizzard Beach Disney World Hotels World Premiere Food Court — Disney’s All-Star Movies Resort The World Premiere Food Court at Disney’s All-Star Movies Resort has been undergoing refurbishment since July. World Premiere Food Court This food court closed for refurbishment on July 1st and was set to reopen on July 31st. However, a change on the Disney World website and speaking with Cast Members has indicated that did not happen. Disney has recently updated the website to say it won’t open until mid-October. While it has been getting a face-lift, guests have been able to mobile order from a limited menu on the Disney World app, and seating in the food court is still available. Everything POP Shopping & Dining — Disney’s Pop Century Resort Everything Pop is amid its own refurbishment. Everything Pop Food Court Since July 29th Everything Pop has been getting some work done. The refurbishment is set to last until September 29th. However, while the work is being done, guests can still use the Disney World app to mobile order food. You may need to use alternate entrances to access the food court and seating may be limited. Barbados Leisure Pool The Barbados leisure pool will be closed at Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort from July 29th through the end of September 2024. There’s only one real problem with being a Disney adult: we have adult money to spend on Disney things. Loungefly Wall at the Emporium in Magic Kingdom That often means that we’re spending money on souvenirs we don’t need, but hey, we want them! Yes, we’ve got shelves full of Disney Funko Pops, but that won’t stop us from buying more. We have walls full of ears, and yep, we’ll keep buying them. We’ve got closets full of spirit jerseys, but in our defense, they ARE comfy, if a little pricey. There are also a few other Disney souvenirs we can’t stop spending money on, though, and we’re going to share them with you. Disney World’s refurbishment schedule doesn’t always make a lot of sense, but at least you get a little bit of a heads up when restaurants, pools, and amenities will temporarily close. Disney’s Port Orleans — Riverside Resort We’ve seen rides close for refurbishments. Pools often close in the quieter months for necessary upkeep (although sometimes they close in the busier summer months, too). Even Disney World restaurants close to get refreshed from time to time. Well, we’ve got some news on one particular restaurant, a cafe, that will be closing SOON for refurbishment. One of our favorite places to get Mickey Beignets, Scat Cat’s Club — Cafe at Disney’s Port Orleans Resort — French Quarter, will be closing soon for refurbishment. We noticed a message detailing as much on the Disney World website. Scat Cat’s Club will close from September 23rd through mid-October, 2024. ©Disney However, don’t worry! While the cafe is closed, you’ll be able to get beignets at Sassagoula Floatworks and Food Factory at Disney’s Port Orleans Resort — French Quarter. Whew. We hope that includes the Mickey Beignet Sundae, as well as the boozy beignets! Beignet Sundae So if you’re staying at Port Orleans Resort or you’ll be heading over there for beignets, make a note that you’ll need to head to Sassagoula Floatworks and Food Factory to grab those! In the meantime, you might also want to book a reservation at Boatwright’s Dining Hall if you’re in the mood for some more New Orleans-inspired food (we’re big fans of this underrated restaurant). Boatwright’s Dining Hall We’ll keep an eye out for any other closures that could affect your next Disney World trip, so stay tuned to DFB for more. If you’re planning a trip to Disney World, you might want to know if you’ll get any special perks for staying at a Disney-owned hotel (or other select hotels in the Disney World area). Swan & Dolphin The answer is YES! One of the best Disney World hotel perks right now is Early Theme Park Entry, which gets you into the theme parks 30 minutes before everyone else. However, if you stay at a deluxe Disney World resort, you also get Extended Evening Hours, which gives you several extra hours in the theme parks at the end of the day that the general public doesn’t get. Well, you don’t HAVE to pay Disney World deluxe hotel prices to get this perk. Instead, you can book a stay at the Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin, which can run you as low as $300 (or sometimes less) per night, considerably less than Disney World’s deluxe hotels. Granted, that price could change, depending on when you book your stay, but with a little careful planning, you can grab a room at the lower rates. Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin The best part of booking this hotel, though, is that you still get all the same perks that Disney World deluxe hotels get, meaning you can take advantage of both Early Theme Park Entry and Extended Evening Hours. Not only that, but you get the same perks you get at other Disney World hotels, including free transportation to the parks. Swan and Dolphin bus at Animal Kingdom That’s not all, though. The Swan and Dolphin are also owned by Marriott, so if you are a member of the Marriott Bonvoy Rewards program, you can earn points when you stay there. You can also USE Mariott Bonvoy rewards points to book a stay there, which could save you even MORE money. So you get a deluxe hotel for a lot less either way. That’s a win, right? Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin But wait, there’s more! Yes, we sound like a TV commercial, but there really are a lot of great reasons to stay at this hotel. So, one of our favorite things about the Swan and Dolphin is the location. It’s located within the area of the other EPCOT resort hotels, meaning you have access to all those hotels’ restaurants and shopping! However, you’ll find some great dining on-site, too, including Shula’s Steakhouse, the very underrated Todd English’s bluezoo, Rosa Mexicano, and more. Rosa Mexicano You can also walk to EPCOT from the Swan and Dolphin via International Gateway, which means you also have easy access to the EPCOT Skyliner station to get to Hollywood Studios and other Skyliner hotels. Like we said, the location can’t be beat! EPCOT Skyliner So if you’re looking to get Disney World deluxe hotel perks without paying Disney World deluxe hotel prices, you might want to consider booking a stay at the Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin. There’s a rogue village in Disney World where criminals run amuck. The town in question. Yep, I’m talking about the tiny train town in EPCOT! This itty bitty city is filled with anarchy, crime, and plenty of general shenanigans, so I love to stop by and see what the residents are up to on a regular basis. I made another trip to this little German town recently, and I’ve got some wild updates for you! If you’ve been following along with my past few updates, then you know I’ve been closely eyeing the town’s jug band drama. The band has now replaced two of its members with new players after a massive fallout that resulted in the injuries of the previous two members. They’re moving on without any remorse at all! Meanwhile, the old band members are currently recovering in the hospital. Have you no SHAME? The jug band! If you recall a few months ago, a door thief was running rampant in the tiny town. Now it seems that the fiend is back at it again! Several citizens reported doors missing from their homes, which is particularly dangerous considering our town’s werewolf is still on the loose. As the mayor, I formally recommend that everyone invest in large quantities of cling wrap to cover all their entrances. You’ll be stuck inside, but it’s for the good of your family. The door thief is back! As I reported in my last update, the train service is BACK in the town after a brief hiatus. This means that our train stops are once again crowded with people hoping to hitch a ride. And in positive news, the young people of the town are beginning to use the train stations as an excuse to meet eligible bachelors and bachelorettes. Love is in the air — maybe we’ll finally get to celebrate something happy! They’re gathering like a social hour! And finally, I’ve got to mention that we have a visitor in town! Mr. Mickey Mouse himself is staying on the outskirts of the village for a little getaway. (He loves trains as much as his friend Walt!) I ask the townspeople not to disturb him during his relaxing vacation. Mr. Mouse is here Stay tuned to DFB for more updates from the tiny town and its villagers! I’ll keep you in the loop. We hate to admit it, but it seems like Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge in Disneyland just goes a little harder than Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge in Disney World. Bard droid in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge in Disneyland Why? First, ALL the characters that come to the Disneyland version of Batuu are mind-boggling. Hera Syndulla? Ahsoka Tano? CHOPPER? It’s WILD. Then there are those little droids that wander around the area when Disney feels like testing them out. Also, Disneyland’s Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge goes a little harder with the food, too, and is constantly adding new snacks and meals. Well, now, there’s a new Star Wars dining package — SAY WHAT?!?!?! So over in Disneyland, there’s a special Star Wars fireworks show, which is basically the Disneyland fireworks, but they play a Star Wars soundtrack if you watch it from Galaxy’s Edge (also, now that everyone knows about it, we’re bummed it’s popular now because that was our fave spot to watch Disneyland’s fireworks). It’s called Fire of the Rising Moons, and it’s still a great way to see the Disneyland fireworks in a new way. Fire of the Rising Moon Well, starting in November, you’ll be able to get a new dining package at Docking Bay 7 and Cargo that will include some fun space-themed eats and drinks. By purchasing the dining package, you’ll also get a viewing of the Fire of the Rising Moons nighttime fireworks show on those nights Disneyland has fireworks (be sure to check the Disneyland calendar. Here’s a sneak peek at some of the food (wait…is it just us, or does this sorta look like some of the food we had on Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser?!?!?!). ©Disney Anyway, we don’t yet have a price for the dining package or an exact date in November when it will become available or even a date when you can start making dining package reservations, but we’ll certainly be keeping an eye out for ALL that information, so stay tuned to DFB for more.
