Okay, we’ll admit it, we LOVE POG juice. If you haven’t this wonderful concoction of passionfruit, orange, and mango fruit juices, you are missing out. Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort For example, if you have breakfast in a few places in Disney World, you can get POG juice in nearly unlimited amounts. But you can also find POG-flavored treats throughout Disney World. We’ve had everything from POG cupcakes to POG gelato to a POG-flavored eclair. ALL the POG. So when we found out you could get POG Juice Macarons from Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort, we hopped on the Monorail and headed on over! If you head on over to Kona Island at the Polynesian, you can order a box of five POG Juice Macarons for $7.99. But wait, there’s more! Not only are these POG Juice-flavored, but they are also plant-based, meaning they don’t have any dairy or eggs in them. Okay, that makes us a little skeptical because how could you POSSIBLY make a good macaron without eggs and dairy? Well, Disney figured it out! Five perfect macarons In fact, it’s rather remarkable Disney figured out how to get an authentic meringue-like texture with these macarons without egg and dairy. Yes, Disney nailed it. HOWEVER, with that being said, these tasted more like coconut to us, than POG-flavored, which could have something to do with what was used to replace the egg and dairy in the recipe. But overall, they’re still delicious. Not very Pog flavored, though These are a great choice for those with plant-based diets who’ve wanted to try macarons and haven’t been able to. We’d love to see these rotate out at Kona Island with different flavors throughout the year (hint, hint, Disney). Extreme closeup So, if you’re looking for a solid macaron, you might want to head on over to the Polynesian to grab a box of these. You don’t even have to share them if you don’t want to! Stay tuned to DFB for more. WE KNOW – there are SO many great snacks at Disney World! How do you choose (we don’t want to choose but will blow our budget on Day 1 otherwise)? We’ve got you covered! Things are changing SO much in Disney World that it’s hard to keep up. We recently said goodbye to Genie+ (Disney’s skip-the-line service) and hello to Lightning Lane Multi Pass and Lightning Lane Single Pass. Even more changes are coming soon, too, with the addition of a Cars land and a villains land to Magic Kingdom, a Monsters, Inc. land and villains show in Hollywood Studios, and a land re-theme in Animal Kingdom. However, one big change is happening tomorrow on September 9th, and it’s happening to a popular ride in Magic Kingdom. So we wanted to remind you about this change so you’re not caught by surprise. As we previously reported, TRON Lightcycle / Run will be getting rid of its virtual queue tomorrow, September 9th, and will switch to a standby line. That means if you want to ride it, you’ll need to either wait in the standby line or purchase the Lightning Lane Single Pass (it’s like a paid express pass). So you won’t have to get up at 7AM to try and get in the ride’s virtual queue and we wanted to make sure you knew that! TRON Lightcycle / Run However, if you choose to wait in the standby line, we’ve got more updates. First, you won’t be able to ride TRON Lightcycle / Run during Early Theme Park Entry. Instead, you can try to rope-drop it, but let’s just say almost everyone will probably have that exact same idea. We expect that standby line to be pretty long in the morning, so it might be best to wait it out and see if it gets shorter later in the day. Otherwise, your best bet to skip the long lines might just be paying for the Lightning Lane Single Pass. TRON Lightcycle / Run This could mean more traffic in Tomorrowland, too, as everyone heads over to the standby line, but hey, once they’re in the line, that might mean LESS crowds throughout the park, so bright side, RIGHT? But yeah, we just wanted to give you a heads up and a reminder that things are about to change with TRON Lightcycle / Run in Disney World. Stay tuned to DFB for more. It’s the season of all things spooky, so yes, we’re riding Haunted Mansion a lot right now in Disney World. Okay, granted, we don’t need it to be Halloween to ride one of our favorite rides, but we love trying to spot new things. Haunted Mansion We’ve recently seen some new additions to the Haunted Mansion, too. Last year, we finally got our own version of Hatbox Ghost. Then there was the addition of a nice Rolly Crump Easter Egg. Then one of the picnic ghosts returned to the cemetery scene in the ride. Now, the second picnic ghost has returned after having been gone for some time. During a recent visit to Magic Kingdom, we decided to ride Haunted Mansion…AGAIN. Seriously, we’ll never get tired of this ride. So, yes, we previously reported that a ghost having a picnic had recently returned to the ride. Here’s what he looks like, top hat and all. Picnic ghost This poor man, though, seems to be having a picnic all by himself. How sad! However, he’s not supposed to be alone, as seen in this Haunted Mansion concept art. He’s supposed to be having a picnic with a lady friend. ©Disney Well, we’ve got some good news. Mr. Top Hat Guy is no longer by himself. His lady friend ghost has joined him. She’s been missing for a while, so maybe the two had a bit of a spat or something. She’s back! Maybe Miss Fancy Pants just needed a vacation and took a little time to reflect on her unlife as a ghost. Who knows why she was gone, but it’s good to see her back and picnicking with her friend. Reunited So be sure to pay your respects to this couple the next time you ride Haunted Mansion in Disney World. And stay tuned to DFB for more. We know a thing or two about dining at Disney World! California Grill Not only have we dined at every restaurant at Disney World, but we have even stayed at every hotel in Disney World. We have ranked hotels and restaurants, but then we thought, “What if we ranked Disney World hotels just based on their restaurants instead?” So that is precisely what we are going to do! Buckle up because this list is long! We will be going from our least favorite to our favorite. Olivia’s Cafe 16. Saratoga Springs Saratoga Springs is home to one quick service location and one table service location. They also have a window that serves quick bites to golfers who are golfing on the Lake Buena Vista Golf Course. Saratoga Springs While this resort does have a table service restaurant, the Turf Club is just okay for us. The theming is dated, and the menu is not too spectacular — despite having gotten an overhaul recently. It is still a good place to dine if you are staying at the resort, but we would not go out of the way for it. Turf Club Bar & Grill Artist’s Palette is the resort’s quick service location; you can find rotational menu items and single-serve pizzas. The menu is tiny, which is why Saratoga Springs is ranked last on our list, but you can find some fun cupcakes here! The Artist’s Palette 15. The All-Star Resorts All three All-Star Resorts (Movies, Music, and Sports) have a bar and a food court. The food court menus are extensive and cater to a large array of tastes. World Premiere Food Court There are no table service locations for this resort, which ranks it as low, but we placed it a bit higher than Saratoga Springs since the menus at the food courts offer much more. All-Star Resorts 14. Pop Century and Art of Animation Just like the All-Star Resorts, Pop Century and Art of Animation only have food courts as their dining option as they are Value Resorts. Everything Pop Just like the All-Star Resorts, they have an extensive menu. We ranked these two resorts to be higher than the All-Star Resorts since they are within walking distance of each other, meaning it is easy for you to check out both food courts. Landscape of Flavors These resorts also have a Skyliner station, which means you have easy access to other dining options at the other Skyliner hotels. Skyliner Station at Disney’s Pop Century and Art of Animation Resorts 13. Old Key West Up next, we have Old Key West. This resort is home to Olivia’s Cafe, that serves up breakfast, lunch, and dinner. You can even Mobile Order from this table service restaurant. Olivia’s Cafe There is also a bar, The Gurgling Suitcase, along with a quick service option. While we love the menu at Oliva’s Cafe, Old Key West ranks lower as all the dining options are in one location far from many hotel buildings. Gurgling Suitcase 12. Caribbean Beach Caribbean Beach is on the Skyliner line and is home to one of our favorite all-you-care-to-enjoy restaurants, Sebastian’s Bistro. This location serves up a great family-style meal for a decent price. Sebastian’s Bistro There is also a quick service location that offers grab-and-go items and there is also a quick service window, Spyglass Grill. Spyglass Grill 11. Fort Wilderness Resort and Campground Fort Wilderness is home to the Hoop Dee Doo Musical Revue, which is an all-you-care-to-enjoy meal that features alcohol included in the price of your meal. Combine this with a fun dinner show, and it makes it the perfect reason for you to visit Fort Wilderness. Hoop Dee Doo If you want to try the delicious food at Hoop Dee Doo but do not want to sit for a table service meal, you can dine right next door at Trail’s End as they serve many of the same menu items. Trail’s End Restaurant And if you are looking for some bar eats and fun western cocktails, you can head to Crockett’s Tavern, which shares the same building as Trail’s End. Moonshine Cocktail Flight at Crockett’s Tavern 10. Port Orleans — French Quarter and Riverside We have two words for you– Mickey Beignets. That is right, Port Orleans French Quarter is going to be the one place where you will find Mickey Beignets at Disney World. Port Orleans — French Quarter Both French Quarter and Riverside have quick-service dining options as well as a few lounges. If you are looking for a table service meal, you will need to head over to Riverside to dine at Boatwright’s Dining Hall. Also, at Riverside, you will find Yehaa Bob Jackson at River Roost Lounge on select nights. He is a staple of this resort, and people go out of their way to see him perform. Boatwright’s Dining Hall 9. Coronado Springs Coronado Springs is home to some really great dining options and some just okay options. The great dining options help boost Coronado Springs up on the list. Coronado Springs We love to grab a bite to eat at Three Bridges Bar and Grill. This location is in the middle of the water and is so popular that most nights, there is a wait. You can also Mobile Order from this location. Three Bridges Bar and Grill On the top floor of the Gran Destino Tower, you will find the Dahlia Lounge, which offers quick bites and drinks with an expansive view of Disney World. Dahlia Lounge at Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort And right next door, you will find the beautiful Toledo – Tapas, Steak & Seafood. The architecture in this restaurant is so pretty, and the food is also excellent. Toledo Coronado Springs is also home to a food court. You will also find Rix Sports Bar and Maya Grill near the food court. Rix Sports Bar, unfortunately, tends to rank at the bottom of most of our restaurant rankings, and Maya Grill does as well due to its limited hours. Rix Sports Bar & Grill With all of that being said, Toledo, Dalia Lounge, and Three Bridges significantly help Coronado Springs’ ranking. 8. Contemporary Resort With a prime location right next to Magic Kingdom, the Contemporary is a great spot to stop at for breakfast before you head into the parks or a great stop for a mid-day break from the parks. Disney’s Contemporary Resort The Contemporary is home to Chef Mickey’s, which is an all-you-care-to-enjoy buffet that doubles as a character meal! Chef Mickey’s For a more casual but still elevated dining experience, you can check out Steakhouse 71, which serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner. If you are in the mood for a nicer table service meal, you can head up to the top floor of the resort and dine at California Grill. This restaurant not only has a delicious menu but has stunning views of the Magic Kingdom. Trust us, you are going to want to dine here during fireworks. Steakhouse 71 Along with table service meals, the Contemporary is also home to a bar and a quick-service location. 7. BoardWalk Inn The BoardWalk shines at night when it is all lit up and filled with different entertainment acts. Here, you will find fun bars like Jellyrolls and AbracadaBar. Jellyrolls If you are looking for a quick bite to eat, you can check out the deli, ice cream shop, pizza window, and the newly opened Blue Ribbon Corn Dogs. Blue Ribbon Corn Dogs For table service, the BoardWalk has both an Italian restaurant, Trattoria al Forno, and a seafood restaurant, Flying Fish. Flying Fish Plus, the BoardWalk will soon be home to the Cake Bake Shop. It is also very close to EPCOT and other resorts, which means even more dining options! 7. Wilderness Lodge Wilderness Lodge is home to so many different dining options. You can dine at Whispering Canyon, where your servers get in on the fun. This location is also all you care to enjoy. Whispering Canyon Artist Point — Story Book Dining with Snow White offers a unique character meal where you can meet Snow White, Dopey, and Grumpy. Artist Point restaurant For a more relaxed table service meal, Geyser Point Bar and Grill has excellent views of the water and the resort. This spot also offers Mobile Order. Plus, the resort has a great quick-service grab-and-go option as well. Geyser Point Bar & Grill 6. Polynesian Village Resort The Polynesian is home to many popular dining spots. Here you will find ‘Ohana, which is an all-you-care-to-enjoy meal. In the morning, for breakfast, you can find Stitch, Lilo, Mickey, and Pluto here. ‘Ohana If you are looking for other breakfast options, you can get the famous Tonga Toast at both Capt. Cook’s and Kona Cafe. Kona Cafe, a table service, also offers Mobile Order. Capt. Cook’s is a solid quick service option for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Kona Cafe There are also plenty of great bars at the Polynesian. You can grab a coffee and sushi at Kona Island. If you want to grab a drink and try some of ‘Ohana’s most popular dishes, you can dine at Tambu Lounge. Tambu Lounge And how could we forget? The Polynesian is home to Trader Sam’s Grog Grotto, which might arguably be one of the most popular bars at Disney World! A line usually forms before Trader Sam’s even opens! Trader Sam’s Grog Grotto 5. Riviera Resort As Disney World’s newest resort, the Riviera has solid dining options. You can dine on the top floor at Topolino’s Terrace for breakfast and a character meal. At nighttime, Topolino’s Terrace offers a delicious menu with stunning views of EPCOT. Dining room at Topolino’s Terrace There are also great casual options here, like their quick service location, Primo Piatto, and their bar, Bar Riva. The Riviera is also home to one of our favorite spots to grab a coffee at Le Petit Café. Bar Riva The Riviera is also on the Skyliner line, connecting it to other resorts for other dining options. 3. Yacht and Beach Club While they are two separate resorts, Yacht and Beach Club are so close together that it is almost like they are one combined resort. Stormalong Bay At Beach Club, you will find Cape May, which is a buffet for breakfast and dinner. During breakfast time, Minnie’s Beach Bash takes place, where you can meet Minnie and her friends. Cape May Cafe Beach Club is also home to Beaches and Cream, where you can order the iconic Kitchen Sink Sundae. Kitchen Sink Over at Yacht Club, you will find great options like Ale and Compass Restaurant and the Ale and Compass Lounge. If you want to dine at a steakhouse, you are in luck at you will find Yachtsman Steakhouse here. Next door to Yachtsman is the Crew’s Cup Lounge, which offers a laid-back environment with some of the same eats you can find at Yachtsman. Ale and Compass To round out these two resorts, they each have their own grab-and-go and quick service locations. Plus, they are super close to EPCOT and the BoardWalk, which means more dining options. 2. Animal Kingdom Lodge Who would not want to dine with safari views? Animal Kingdom Lodge is home to solid dining locations, and we will go out of our way to eat here! Animal Kingdom Lodge You can find African-inspired cuisines at Boma, The Mara, Sanaa, and Jiko. Boma offers a buffet for both breakfast and lunch. Sanaa is one of our favorite places to dine, and the bread service is a must-get. Boma The Mara also offers quick grab-and-go meals, and there are plenty of bars and lounges around the resort, which is why it ranks so high on our list. Animal Kingdom Lodge It was so hard for us to place Animal Kingdom Lodge in second since we think it truly has some of the best dining locations on the property, but our number one pick has Animal Kingdom Lodge just beaten by a little. Sanaa 1. Grand Floridian And for our number one pick, we have the Grand Floridian. The Grand Floridian is home to SO MANY dining locations. It is also in the perfect spot where you can walk or take the monorail from Magic Kingdom to dine here before or after your park day. Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort Dining at the Grand Floridian is so good that we even think highly of its quick service location, Gasparilla Island Grill. You can find an all-you-care-to-enjoy buffet and character meal at 1900 Park Fare. For another casual table service meal with no characters, you can dine next door at the Grand Floridian Cafe. 1900 Park Fare For more upscale dining, you can dine at both Citricos as well as one of our favorites, Narcoossees. Narcoossees is right on the water and has a great view of Magic Kingdom’s fireworks. And for the most upscale dining experience of them all, you can dine at Victoria and Alberts. Narcoossees The Grand Floridian is even home to a Beauty and the Best themed bar, the Enchanted Rose Lounge. Enchanted Rose Lounge in Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort Based on the number of dining options and its proximity to the Magic Kingdom, it had to make the top of our list. Gasparilla Island Grill And there you have it! While all of these resorts have their pros and cons for dining, there are so many great options, and each resort or nearby the resort, that you will not have trouble finding a good place to eat. Sometimes you just want a classic steakhouse meal with a classic steakhouse experience. Yachtsman Steakhouse The thing is, there are several steakhouses in Disney World, but the ones most people think about are places like Le Cellier in the Canada Pavilion in EPCOT and Steakhouse 71 at Disney’s Contemporary Resort. However, one of the most overlooked steakhouses is probably Yachtsman Steakhouse at Disney’s Yacht Club Resort, just steps away from EPCOT via International Gateway. We just revisited Yachtsman Steakhouse to see if it’s as good as we remember, and we’re taking you along for the ride! Atmosphere Yachtsman Steak House is in Disney’s Yacht Club, so yes, it has a classic nautical vibe. One thing we love is that you can even see the chefs working on your food because the restaurant has an open kitchen. However, what sets this place apart is that there’s a butcher window where you can watch your meat being cut (however, if that’s NOT your thing, you might want to look away!). Yachtsman Steakhouse also has several dining rooms with lots of wood incorporated into its nautical design. Inside the restaurant Seating is plentiful, with standard tables and chairs, as well as some booths. Tables are set up with cloth napkins and utensils. Yep, we’re eating a lot fancier here than we do when we’re grabbing something from the food court at Disney’s All-Star Resorts. So yes, it’s a little fancy, but at the same time, it doesn’t feel bougie. It’s a cozy, kinda upscale vibe. Table setting Okay, let’s get to eating! Menu You’ll see that Yachtsman Steakhouse is a traditional restaurant in that the menu screams “classic steakhouse.” You can grab a variety of First Course options like soups and salads. Of course, this is a steakhouse, so if you’re here for steak (as you should be), you’ll find the Butcher Cuts or one of the Chef’s Signature items. You can also add to your entree with a Butcher’s Cut Enhancement. You can also get a Sauce Flight — say WHAT? If you want chicken or fish, that’s also an option, as well as a variety of side items and desserts. The menu Want something to drink? There are specialty cocktails, beer, and wines. Drinks menu As you can see, the wine list is quite extensive. More drinks There’s a selection of whiskey, bourbon, vodka, gin, rum, scotch, tequila, and even some flights. Even more drinks Okay, let’s dive into some food! Eats The complimentary bread service is one of our favorites at Disney World. Although it’s not flashy, the yeast rolls and flaky onion rolls are delicious and served with garlic confit and salted butter. Bread The flaky onion rolls are amazing — they pull apart like layered biscuits and have these little pieces of onion on them. YUM. Onion roll For our appetizer, we ordered the Lobster Bisque for $18 made with Lobster Biscuit, Crème Fraîche, and Espelette Oil. This is one the best soups we’ve had in Disney World, and that’s counting the lobster bisque we recently had at Narcoossee’s. It’s so creamy and buttery, with just the right amount of lobster, without tasting overtly fishy. It’s decadent enough to split, too (which we did, so the photo below is a half portion). We’re glad the server warned us of how rich this soup is because we would have filled up on this alone because it’s so good. Lobster Bisque The 7 oz. Filet Mignon is $59 and is served with Mashed Potatoes and a sauce of your choice (we chose the bordelaise sauce). First, we’re pretty sure those potatoes had some kind of cream (maybe sour cream) in them. Filet Mignon The steak is INCREDIBLE and we are almost ashamed to admit that we scarfed it down. We had it cooked medium rare, so it had a red center, but was warm throughout. It was perfectly cooked. We didn’t expect any less considering there is an actual butcher’s room IN the restaurant and all the steaks are aged in-house. This is why you should come here: FOR THE STEAK. Perfectly cooked We also got the Sauce Flight for $9, which comes with House Steak Sauce, Béarnaise, Peppercorn, Blue Cheese, and Bordelaise. Our favorite was the béarnaise and the peppercorn sauce, although the bordelaise was also very flavorful. However, the blue cheese and house steak sauce didn’t impress us — they were lacking in flavor. This is something you get if everyone is ordering steak at the table, but we just had the one, so we would’ve probably been better off just choosing just one of our favorite sauces. It was still fun to try them all out, though. Sauce flight We chose two sides for our meal, including the Truffle Macaroni and Cheese for $14.50. This mac and cheese was SO creamy and had just the right amount of truffle flavor, so it wasn’t overwhelming. Even the noodle shape was perfect because it carried the cheese well. Truffle Macaroni and Cheese We also got the Hot Honey-Bourbon Brussels Sprouts with Chili-candied Walnuts for $12.50. They were good, but we wouldn’t call them fantastic. There are far better Brussels Sprouts in Disney World, like what you get at The Polite Pig in Disney Springs. These are well-cooked and well-seasoned, and the walnuts add a nice crunch, but they’re still not much of a standout. Hot Honey-Bourbon Brussels Sprouts Our other entree was the Chilean Sea Bass with Rock Shrimp Perlou, Chorizo, Crab Beurre Blanc, and Pickled Heirloom Tomatoes for $56. So, this one disappointed us. We LOVE Chilean Sea Bass, but this was just not great. It was cooked well and flaked apart nicely, so the texture worked for us. However, it was SO salty, too much so. The rice served with it is forgettable (although it had a nice tomato flavor). The crab meat was nice, so we’ll give it that. But this isn’t something we’d ever order here again. Chilean Sea Bass At this point, we were pretty full, so we didn’t opt for dessert, but several choices were available. Nosh or Not You should visit Yachtsman Steakhouse if… You want a classic steakhouse experience. This is about as classic of a steakhouse experience as you can find in Disney World, from the atmosphere to the actual steak (which is excellent). You have time. Our meal took a few hours total, so you’ll want to have the time to spend there to really enjoy the experience. You’re staying at the Yacht Club. If you’re staying at the Yacht Club or one of the nearby hotels and want an upscale meal — or even a date night meal — without having to go far, this is a great option. You should skip Yachtsman Steakhouse if… You’re on a budget. When we say “upscale classic steakhouse,” that means this spot is going to be a little pricey. If you’re on a tight budget, you might want to eat elsewhere. You’re not staying at the Yacht Club. With all that being said, we think this isn’t the kind of restaurant you should travel to if you’re not staying at the hotel. Even if you’re staying in the EPCOT area, there are other restaurants in the vicinity that might be a better option. You’re not a meat eater. The menu at Yachtsman Steakhouse is pretty much targeted at carnivores. You’ll only find a few plant-based options on the menu, and they may not appeal to you. Overall We love the vibe of this restaurant, and our service was excellent. Our meal took a while to come out to our table, so you will need some time to enjoy dining here, but the food was good. Was it good enough to make a special trip to the Yacht Club? Well, maybe not considering the number of great restaurants in the EPCOT area. However, if you’re staying at the Yacht Club or nearby and want a nice dinner that feels a little upscale but not super flashy, this could be a good option. Overall, we don’t think Yachtsman Steakhouse is anything special, but at the same time, that might be just what you’re looking for: just solidly good soup and steak. It can be really hard not to stay at a hotel on property when you go to Disney World, right? Port Orleans Resort — French Quarter With the accessibility to the parks and Disney Springs, all the immersion, and the food, you’ve really got it made when you’re thinking about staying in a Disney World hotel at any level — value, moderate, or deluxe. Now when it comes to Disney World and the hotels specifically, we all love a good hack that can make things easier for us or elevate our experiences. That got us thinking about some of the hacks that we’re not using, so we reached out to you to get your thoughts on the matter. Well, we asked and you delivered! We reached out to our followers on Facebook to ask: “What are your favorite Disney World hotel tips and tricks that not enough people use?” We had quite a few people leave their opinions in the comments! What do you think? Now, let’s dive into some of your responses! Split Stays First up, have you heard of a split stay? If not, here’s what they are. Basically, you book a stay at two different resorts (a more budget friendly one and a deluxe). In other words, you stay for part of your time at a value resort, and then you transition over to a deluxe resort for your last few days (and Disney will even transport your belongings from one room to another). This hack allows you to enjoy the luxury of Disney’s deluxe resorts without paying the premium price for your entire vacation. Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa To this point, DFB reader Lori swears by it saying, “Split stays are the best! We stay in a less expensive hotel for the bulk of our stay and move to a deluxe for a night or two. It’s great ending your trip with a little luxury, but not spending that much money for the whole stay!” And if you’re still not convinced, Kate adds, “Say it with me, y’all: SPLIT STAY!” Again, this hack gets you to ask yourself, “Why settle for just one experience when you can split your time between a budget-friendly resort and a fancy one?” It’s like the best of both worlds! Plan a Resort Day Let’s be real. Disney World is magical, but it’s also exhausting. This is where the “Resort Day” hack comes in. This is one hack you’ll thank yourself for later. Take a day to rest at the pool! As DFB reader Steve puts it, “A resort day is as good as a park day.” We couldn’t agree more, and he’s not alone as many a Disney “pro” schedule resort days to break up the intense park days. For example, Greg shared, “We often plan our trips so we have no more than two park days in a row, then a resort day to relax. What’s the point of a vacation if you don’t have some downtime?” Planning a resort day gives you the time you need to recharge. As another example, Steven suggests, “Plan a resort day on travel days. And then resort days between park days. You have to have some R&R on vacation.” At the end of the day, make sure to remember Shawns words, “Make sure you budget in a resort day!” Take a Midday Break If you’ve been to Disney World, you know that midday heat can make you want to melt, which makes it the perfect time for taking a midday break back at your hotel! This is a hack that ensures you’ll avoid burnout and keep the magic going all day (and night). Wilderness Lodge DFB reader Jeff shared his strategy: “Rope drop for 4-5 hours. Go back to the hotel and nap for 3-4 hours. Close the park down. Sleep late the next day.” This plan lets you hit those early morning must-do rides and enjoy the cooler evenings. Elmer agrees: “Go back to your hotel room between 12 pm and 4 pm.” If you use this hack, trust us, your feet will thank you. Rent DVC Points Here’s a next-level hack you have to remember to use — Rent Disney Vacation Club (DVC) points. This one can get you deluxe accommodations at a fraction of the cost! Disney’s Riviera Resort DFB reader Spencer says, “Rent DVC points and stay at a nice hotel for the cost of a budget one.” Meanwhile, Pamela added, “I’ve stayed at Poly, AKL, and Riviera for much less than rack rate by renting.” If you want to get those deluxe resort vibes without the deluxe price tag, make sure to use this hack. Just be sure you’re using a reputable agency — like David’s Vacation Club Rentals. Be Kind to Cast Members Now this last tip might not save you money, but it will definitely upgrade your Disney World experience. Simply put, just be kind. To that point, DFB reader Greg said, “Always be kind to Cast Members and compliment them often.” Chad chimed in, reminding us all: “Being polite to other guests/cast members and following the rules.” ©Disney Not only does kindness have a habit of making someone’s day, but you’ll also find that Cast Members often go the extra mile when they feel appreciated. When you hear National Geographic, what is the first thing that comes to mind? For some, it’s the wild animals, the exotic destinations or the yellow border opening the window to new worlds. For Adventures by Disney and National Geographic Expeditions Trip Operator, Keith Jacobson, his first thought ties back to an early childhood memory of his grandfather, George, whom he called, “Grandpa Spud.” Earliest Memory Grandpa Spud had a studio in his house with a drafting board and art supplies. As a child, Keith would grab paper and draw next to him, where he felt free to play and create. “Around 1987, I was about 10 years old and playing with a wooden tugboat across the floor when I looked up and saw the giant bookcase with that signature yellow,” says Keith, talking about the iconic yellow of the ‘National Geographic’ magazines. “Those magazines were my earliest opening to the world.” Influence on His Disney Career Keith would pull the magazines off the shelf and flip through them for hours. “I didn’t realize Nat Geo had an impact on me from reading about these fantastic places all over the world,” he says. Keith credits his early exposure to travel and exploration to his grandpa’s “National Geographic” magazine collection. “I would just pull one [magazine] off the bookshelf and never knew where I was going next.” The influence Grandpa Spud had on Keith helped him grow to love sailing, exploring and connecting to the nature of the world around him. As an adult, Keith continued this sense of adventure through his career as an Adventures by Disney and National Geographic Expeditions cast member. He loves sharing these experiences, the locations, the storytelling of it – with people, making him feel at home. Life as a Disney Cast Member For over 10 years, Keith has been making magic with Disney and describes himself as a happy person, who is even happier when he’s providing amazing experiences for others. “Working at Disney feels like a memory of mine with my grandpa and dad because of their sense of adventure,” Keith says. “And now that sense of adventure lives on from [them] to me.” Bringing the Magic Back to His Family Keith now gets to share the magic of Adventures by Disney and National Geographic Expeditions with his family. In 2023, Keith and his husband traveled with his parents for their first international trip together with Disney on a Rhine River cruise. Grandpa Spud For Keith, Grandpa Spud was the first person to ignite a sense of awe and adventure in him. “He would be thrilled to know what I am doing now at Disney and about these experiences I’m providing for other people,” Keith says. “And my 10-year-old self would be so ecstatic!” Now, the question we’ve been waiting for — why the name “Spud?” Here is what Keith’s father told him: “Even Spud didn’t know for sure, but he got the name when he was in 4th or 5th grade. Someone changed his real name, George, into Judge. Someone may have misheard that and called him Spud — which stuck!” The post Grandpa’s Legacy Inspires Grandson’s Disney Career appeared first on Disney Parks Blog. View the full article

Every week, we report the average Disney World wait times in every park so that you can be prepared for your next trip to Orlando! Grab a snack and let’s talk wait times. Disney World saw something VERY RARE this week. Flight of Passage did NOT have the highest average wait time at the resort, that title instead went to Slinky Dog Dash. Meanwhile, Jungle Cruise closed for refurbishment and the Lighting Lane Multi Pass continued to impact the resort. Take a look at this week’s average wait times! Magic Kingdom Wait Times The Magic Kingdom saw wait times stay relatively stable after last week’s sharp decreases, even with the closure of The Jungle Cruise. NEW WARNING: You May Want to CHANGE Your Rope Drop Strategy at Magic Kingdom EPCOT Wait Times The wait times in EPCOT actually increased this week. Was it perhaps due to larger crowds brought in by the International Food & Wine Festival? There are a LOT of dedicated Food & Wine Festival fans out there, so it wouldn’t surprise us if all those (hungry) visitors caused the average wait times to increase this week. (NOTE: Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind does not currently use a standby queue, so it’s not included here.) Sometimes you just can’t let a good thing pass you by, and word on the street is that Siesta’s Cantina just added 3 new amazing menu items to their lineup and we couldn’t wait another second to get out to try them! New eats at Siesta’s Cantina We’re suckers for great food found at hidden restaurants, lounges, and places you wouldn’t particularly have to come to mind when you think of the best Disney World food, but this little quick-service restaurant and pool bar is breaking all the barriers! Just like its name suggests, this is a mostly sleepy restaurant located next to one of the arguably best moderate hotel pools. Siesta’s Cantina is home to talented bartenders and a robust menu of food to choose from. So when we heard they had made a few changes to their menu, we knew right where we were headed for our next meal! Siesta’s Cantina sign You’ll find Siesta’s Cantina Pool Bar located next to the main feature pool, the Dig Site, at Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort. Atmosphere The atmosphere here is very much a relaxed pool bar vibe. It’s a smaller spot that’s mostly comprised of the adjoining bar to a food order window for ordering and one for pick up… Order windows for food …while the stand for self-service utensils are out front. Plastic wear and several condiments will be found in the same place so they’re easy to grab while you’re waiting for your order. Self service utensils and condiments station In terms of seating your options are strictly outdoors but there are plenty of chairs and tables with canvas umbrellas. Most of the folks that are visiting the pool tend to take their drinks back with them to their pool deck chairs and seats so the tables out front of the restaurant… All outdoor seating …and along the side are mostly available for folks ordering food and drinks that aren’t opting to swim. Along the side, too! At the bar, you can walk up and order your drinks and be sat right there if you wish. You can choose to sit at the bar too! Overall it wasn’t very loud even though there were several families enjoying the pool and nearby recreations at the volleyball court and adjacent playground. Menu The menu here just had a few new items pop up so that’s what we were after for this visit however, if you were looking to order from the bar they have a selection of specialty cocktails and frozen drinks… Beverage menu …and if you’re feeling up for some food, there’s also a few light bites to pick up too! Food menu One thing we found interesting is if you’re ordering from the bar you can order your food and drinks together, but if you go to the window to place an order and intend to also order a drink from the bar, you’ll need to order the food separately and order your drink at the bar. Drinks For our drink during this visit, we opted for the Tiki Torch! This one has been around for a little bit but while not new like the food we ordered, it was still a solid choice. This drink is made of Makers Mark, Passion Fruit & Orange Juice with a splash of Grenadine and cost us $18. Tiki Torch At first glance, this drink looks very fruity but there’s an exciting twist with it when it hits your tastebuds! Don’t underestimate the strength of this one because the Maker’s Mark in this knows just when to pack a punch after the first fruitier hints you’re initially met with. We certainly wouldn’t have thought we would have enjoyed a fruit-based drink with the addition of some heftier Maker’s Mark into the mix, but here we are and we did. However, we’ll wrap up this drinks review by saying it was a bit sweeter than we anticipated so if you’re someone who likes more bitter or sour drinks, this probably isn’t quite the cocktail for you. Eats We’re a sucker for new eats so when we spotted there were multiple new menu items we had to try them all! We picked up the Flamin’ Hot Cheeto Mac & Cheese Bites, Kielbasa Kettle Chips, AND the Bacon Onion Jam Burger to round out a full meal! Our full meal Let’s kick things off with the dish that caught our attention first thanks to its brightly dusted bites — the Flamin’ Hot Cheeto Mac & Cheese Bites! We were served 6 of these bites which are made of deep-fried Flamin’ Hot Cheeto dusted mac & cheese bites filled with jalapeños, drizzled with chipotle aioli, and served with a side of creamy jalapeño ranch dressing (although we weren’t served the ranch dressing with ours). These cost us $14. Flamin’ Hot Cheeto Mac & Cheese Bites Just looking at them will make your mouth water but we can guarantee you they’re just as good as you’re imagining in your head right now. If you love flamin’ hot cheetos and cheesy macaroni bites this is a match made in heaven for you! The outside is crispy and crunchy with that familiar level of heat you get from the flamin’ hot cheeto snacks and it’ll have you licking your fingers unless you’re using a fork to pop them into your mouth. So cheesy! Our 6 bites were topped with sliced jalapeños and the creamy chipotle aioli to help kick the heat up if you want a little extra zing and the inside mac & cheese was so creamy. Even with that, it held up nicely inside the bite’s outer coating. We seriously went home and continued to dream about a return visit to be reunited with them again soon. We ate them all! Then we tried out the Kielbasa Kettle Chips which are layered crispy kettle chips, topped with kielbasa sausage. They’re finished with a drizzle of chipotle aioli, pico de gallo, crispy fried jalapeños, and a sprinkle of fresh green onions for $14. Kielbasa Kettle Chips The kettle chips are the house-made chips we’ve seen around several quick service restaurants at Disney World hotels and they’re topped with that same spicy chipotle aioli we had on the mac & cheese bites. We have to admit though there was more of it on these chips and we underestimated the heat from the chipotle at the first bite. A closer look It’s got some decent heat to it between the chipotle, jalapeños, and pico toppings but it’s basically a new spin on a nacho dish. All the flavors work really well together here and the kielbasa sausage was thick and chewy like you would hope for it to be. Last on our list to try was the Bacon Onion Jam Burger! This is comprised of a 6oz burger patty topped with melted Swiss, bacon jam, crisp lettuce, fresh tomato, and zesty jalapeño garlic aioli between toasted Hawaiian pretzel buns and served with a side of kettle chips for $17. Bacon Onion Jam Burger The sweet caramelized onion jam and glaze that melts into the melted Swiss cheese on this burger is really what sells it! Ours came cooked well done but the perfect combination of the cheese and sweet onions worked together in harmony to deliver an excellent flavor experience against the burger patty juices. Just the burger The leaf of lettuce was quite large and covered most of the burger and then some so that was a tad distracting to look at initially but it also lent a hand into the flavor and delivered a crisp crunch to the burger along with the slice of onion hidden in the sandwich just above the bottom bun piece. Cross-section of the burger The side of kettle chips along with this burger just added a few extra chips for us to scoop up whatever was left of the toppings in the Keilbasa Kettle Chips dish! Overall Overall we couldn’t be more pleased with the newest additions to the menu options available for just a pool bar and quick service restaurant here. We were excited to see that the newer items and thought it fit in nicely with everything else offered here already. Order up! If you’re taking a day out of the parks, or truly searching for a unique place to eat that won’t break the bank or require a dining reservation, we would highly recommend paying a visit to Siesta’s Cantina! Nosh or Not? Breeze on by this sleepy spot and stay a while if… You’re tired of the same ole, same ole Disney food! Ready to switch things up from just your standard burgers and chicken tendies? This place has you covered! You’re really more of an apps and snacks type eater. If you’re not looking for a full meal and just combining an app or two gets you by, this is certainly a place whose menu is built for you! “Give me all the spice!” We underestimated the spices in the chipotle aioli a bit at first and while it’s not “burn your mouth off spicy” it’s going to have a good kick to it. If you’re on board with spicy heats this is your next go-to! The winds are blowing you to sit a spell somewhere else if… Sharing an app or two just won’t cut it for your appetite! If you find yourself visiting this hotel and looking for a little more than what’s offered at Siesta’s Cantina, there are plenty of other great restaurants around the hotel to look at instead. Eating outdoors at a pool bar just isn’t your vibe. We get it — you’re on vacation and when you want to sit down inside in the shade and air condition sitting outside at a pool bar just won’t compare most of the time. You’re not really a fan of “spicy” foods. While there are other milder options to try on the menu here, we get it. If you’re someone who really doesn’t want to leave that to chance, you might find better selections for you at El Mercado de Coronado the quick service restaurant in the main building. Disney just announced a brand-new villains show coming to Hollywood Studios! ©Disney This new show will be replacing Lightning McQueen’s Racing Academy in the Sunset Showcase building along Sunset Boulevard. While we’re excited for this new villains-themed show, it’s not the only new show coming to Hollywood Studios. A while back Disney announced a new The Little Mermaid show replacing the old Voyage of the Little Mermaid show in Animation Courtyard. It’s been years since this old show closed, and months since we’ve heard any news about the new one. So, we’re starting to wonder when will this new show finally open? Voyage of the Little Mermaid Voyage of the Little Mermaid is currently closed in Disney World. But we recently spotted some construction walls up at the show! Something’s happening behind those walls! Disney is going to introduce a new, updated show in this spot, though it will still be themed to the animated movie The Little Mermaid! The new show will be called “The Little Mermaid — A Musical Adventure” and is coming to Disney’s Hollywood Studios in Fall 2024. ©Disney Disney still hasn’t announced an official opening date for the new show, but hopefully, we’ll hear some news soon! It will be a “fully reimagined theatrical production inspired by the Walt Disney Animation Studios classic.” A Disney’s Hollywood Studios Attraction Is Permanently CLOSING While we’re waiting to find out when “The Little Mermaid — A Musical Adventure” will open, check out what other attractions and restaurants will remain closed in Disney World the week of September 7th through September 14th! Magic Kingdom Jungle Cruise The wild river ride closed on August 26th, and no this is not some joke the Skippers just came up with! Jungle Cruise The punny ride will be closed for refurbishment, but will luckily reopen on October 18th, if everything goes to plan. If you’re visiting Magic Kingdom over the next month and a half, we’re sorry to report that you will not get to see the eighth wonder of the world — the backside of water. Hopefully, the next time you visit you’ll get to “ooo” and “ahhh” and this marvel! Frontierland Shootin’ Arcade We had to say goodbye to an opening day attraction on June 23rd. It is behind walls now The Frontierland Shootin’ Arcade was around for generations and provided simple fun to all who played. Now, the attraction has closed to make room for a new Disney Vacation Club lounge. This lounge will be the third in Disney World, joining one in EPCOT and one at Disney’s Contemporary Resort. Disney has not yet announced when the new lounge will open. BREAKING: Date Announced for End of TRON’s Virtual Queue in Magic Kingdom Tomorrowland Terrace Tomorrowland Terrace is a quick-service restaurant that has been closed since the 2020 pandemic-related closures, but even before that, this spot was only occasionally open. Tomorrowland Terrace Once in a while, you’ll see the dining room open as a rest area (and it’s still being used for the Magic Kingdom Fireworks Dessert Parties), but it’s usually all roped off and empty. Tomorrowland Terrace Disney hasn’t announced when this spot could finally reopen, but we’ll be watching for updates. If you’re looking for a nice spot to hang out in Disney World and sit down for a rest, this could be it! EPCOT Test Track Test Track closed on June 17th, and Disney is giving this ride a BIG makeover! A crane has popped up at the construction site Disney has shared that the new version of Test Track will take inspiration from the old ride, World of Motion, that was originally there when the park opened in 1982. Disney recently shared more details at D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Experience including an opening timeline! We’ll be able to ride Test Trace once again in 2025. Restaurant Marrakesh Restaurant Marrakesh is currently closed as a dining location in the Morocco pavilion of EPCOT’s World Showcase, and there’s no word yet on when the restaurant could fully reopen. Restaurant Marrakesh However, it is currently open as the Florida Blue Lounge during the EPCOT Food and Wine Festival. So if you’re in the Morocco Pavilion, check it out to see if it’s open. We’re watching for updates on when the full restaurant could reopen! Shh! Disney World is SO pretty. Just look at that castle! But this theme park is not just fun to look at. It’s fun to smell (yes, SMELL), too! Magic Kingdom From the special scents you may catch on Disney World rides, like Soarin’, Mickey’s PhilharMagic, and Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure, to the hotel lobby-exclusive fragrances around the resort, there are SO MANY great smells to enjoy in Disney World. And we want to recreate them at home! That’s why we picked some of our FAVORITE candles from Bath & Body Works that make your house smell like Disney World. DISCLOSURE: This post may contain affiliate links, meaning when you click the links and make a purchase, we receive a commission. The Candy Apple Cauldron scent takes us straight to the Main Street Confectionery! ©Bath and Body Works OK, this is a two-for-one. First of all, the lid of this candle looks like Madame Letoa from the Haunted Mansion, so it’s an instant YES. But second, it’s got fragrance notes of “mysterious green apple, simmering sugar, and crystalized bergamot,” which reminds us of the sweet, sugary treats you can try at the Confectionery in Magic Kingdom. View Online Lakeside Morning is a CLASSIC Pirates of the Caribbean scent dupe! ©Bath and Body Works Believe it or not, this candle reminds us (and many others) of the water on the Pirates of the Caribbean ride. It’s got fragrance notes of crisp autumn air, white driftwood, and a hint of green apple. We LOVE this one! View Online Bath and Body Works has a Warm Apple Pie scent that is similar to the one on Mickey’s PhilharMagic attraction! ©Bath and Body Works Can you picture the scene on Mickey’s PhilharMagic when a fresh-baked pie appears before your eyes? Can you imagine that warm, sweet scent? Bring that scent home with this candle! The fragrance notes include baked granny smith apple, melted brown sugar, and flaky homemade crust. View Online The Turquoise Waters scent is a GREAT representation of the smell on Soarin’ ©Bath and Body Works This is a fresh, clean scent that is perfect for your home! It reminds us of the scene in Soarin’ where we’re flying over Fiji thanks to those coastal waves, sparkling bergamot, and sun-drenched musk fragrance notes. View Online White Pumpkin reminds us of Ye Olde Christmas Shoppe ©Bath and Body Works Yes, it’s a fall candle, not a winter candle, but there’s something about that combination of gingered white pumpkin, caramel glaze, and warm blended spices that makes us think of the iconic Christmas shop in Magic Kingdom. View Online Pumpkin Donut Shop is PERFECT for people who love Everglazed! ©Bath and Body Works Everglazed is a popular little donut shop in Disney Springs, and this candle’s glazed donuts, warm pumpkin spices, and powdered sugar fragrance notes remind us of the store! View Online Make your home smell like the Champagne Toast scene in Mickey’s PhilharMagic! ©Bath and Body Works Finally, this candle transports us to that iconic scene in Mickey’s PhilharMagic when all the champagne bottles are popping during the “Be Our Guest” scene! The fragrance notes include bubbly champagne, sparkling berries, and juicy tangerine. View Online In the meantime, we’re always on the lookout for the latest Disney souvenirs, so stay tuned for more. Sometimes we let our excitement get the best of us when planning our Disney trip! Fireworks in Magic Kingdom One of our favorite things about Disney World is just how much there is to do and see! But with all of the new experiences, fancy places, and fun events that are constantly catching our eye, we have to admit that our impulsive side sometimes gets us in a pickle. But the good news is, hopefully, you can learn from our mistakes! There’s no wrong way to do a Disney World vacation. As they say, there’s a lid for every pot, and the most important thing to consider when planning your trip is what’s best for YOU and your family. But even though we practically hear that advice in our sleep, we’ve still fallen victim to intrusive thoughts before…Here are four things we regret impulse-booking for our Disney World vacation! Booking a Trip During a Busy Time of Year You’re likely to experience at least some crowds regardless of when you choose to visit Disney World. But there are definitely a few times during the year that we can count on to be SUPER busy! Crowd in Magic Kingdom We typically try to avoid booking a trip during major holidays, long weekends, and spring break, since the time off of school and work tends to bring tons of crowds to the parks. Plus, there are “sneakier” events that also bring in big crowds that we also try to avoid, like the first day of an EPCOT festival or runDisney race weekends! Magic Kingdom Halloween Decorations But what can we say, whether it’s the only time of year we can fit in our trip or just the temptation of seeing the parks all decked out for a holiday, sometimes we just can’t help but book a trip during a busy time! If you find yourself in a similar boat, remember to properly set expectations for yourself and anyone else in your party to make sure you’re ready to deal with the crowds. Hollywood Studios Plus, if you’re staying at select Disney World hotels you can take advantage of perks like early theme park entry or extended evening hours to try to find a little bit of quiet(er) time amid the chaos! I Hate Chaotic Mornings in Magic Kingdom. Here’s What I Do Instead! Booking a Dessert Party At Magic Kingdom, guests can book Fireworks Dessert Parties which give them the opportunity to watch the park’s nighttime spectacular with a great view and, of course, lots of desserts! Dessert Party If you have a super busy day planned and you want to get a good fireworks spot without having to camp out, booking a dessert party might make sense for you. But the main reason we’ve regretted booking a dessert party in the past is that it can be EXPENSIVE, especially if you have a lot of people in your party! Crunch Bars Depending on the date and dessert party type, adult ticket prices can range from $99-$129 per person, so it’s pretty safe to say that you won’t get your money’s worth in desserts alone! A look at the fireworks dessert party viewing area Basically, this is a splurge that might be worth it if you want to enjoy the fireworks in a more chill atmosphere, but we’ve regretted booking it just for the sake of our sweet tooth when a trip to Main Street Confectionary would have done the trick! FIRST LOOK at a NEW Disney Sweets Shop Inspired by ‘Zootopia’! Booking a Late Dinner Reservation Sometimes we have our heart set on eating at a specific spot in Disney World and we snap up whatever reservation we can get! But this has come back to bite us before when we’ve impulse-booked a late dining reservation. Be Our Guest Disney World days can be long, hot, and exhausting, and when we end up with a late dining reservation, we’re usually super hangry by the time we finally make it to our table! Tourtiere at Le Cellier Plus, if catching the fireworks is on your must-do list, snagging a late dining reservation could mean that you have to miss out on that night’s show if it falls at the same time as your meal. Fireworks If you have a particular Disney World restaurant on your bucket list and there are only late-evening reservations available, you may still want to snag one for the experience. But if you’re also prone to hanger or don’t want to miss out on the fireworks, be sure to keep an eye out for earlier reservations instead! 3 Times It’s a BAD IDEA To Make Dining Reservations in Disney World Booking a Super Expensive Room We spend a shocking amount of time daydreaming about staying in a fancy room somewhere like Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort or Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge. But there have been times when we couldn’t justify our impulse splurge! View from an Animal Kingdom Lodge room For trips where we don’t have a resort day planned or we intend on spending long days in the parks, we might not be in our rooms often enough to justify a hefty price tag. We’d rather save booking that ultra-luxe hotel room for a trip when we actually have time carved out to actually enjoy it! Grand Floridian DVC Rooms For travelers who usually aim for more budget-friendly trips, make sure you really think about what you need from your hotel room during your trip before you impulse book your dream room! The Best Disney World Hotels for 2024 When the time comes to start planning our Disney World vacation, we have to admit that we sometimes get carried away with our excitement. And while our impulse booking sometimes works out just fine, we definitely do have a few regrets! We’ll continue to share more about our experiences around Disney World, so stay tuned to DFB for everything you need to know when planning your next vacation! 6 Hollywood Studios Truths that Hit Hard and Make You Regret Your Decisions Join the DFB Newsletter to get all the breaking news right in your inbox! If you haven’t been to Disney World in a few years, there are quite a few new rides to check out. TRON Lightcycle / Run From Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind in EPCOT (which opened in 2022) to Tiana’s Bayou Adventure and TRON Lightcycle / Run in Magic Kingdom (opened in 2024 and 2023, respectively), there are a couple of attractions you’ll want to add to your must-ride list. But if you’re hoping to check out TRON during your visit, we’ve got some important updates for you. Disney World announced a few days ago that TRON Lightcycle / Run is getting rid of its virtual queue. Starting September 9th, the ride will have a standby line in addition to a Lightning Lane. So the only ways you’ll be able to ride are to wait in the standby line or purchase the Lightning Lane Single Pass. TRON Lightning Lane With the virtual queue disappearing, we’re expecting TRON to have some long wait times for a little while. Typically, our advice to avoid the longest wait times would be to try and get in line for a ride either at rope drop or at the end of the night. With TRON being located in Tomorrowland, you might think to try and check it out during Early Theme Park Entry, but we’ve got a warning. TRON Lightcycle / Run Currently, TRON Lightcycle / Run is not listed as one of the rides available during Early Theme Park Entry in Magic Kingdom. Many other attractions in Tomorrowland and Fantasyland are open at that time, but the Disney World website still lists TRON as opening with the regular park opening time. So if you’re a resort guest hoping to hop on the ride early in the AM, you might be out of luck. TRON Lightcycle / RUN Lighting Lane Now, we still may recommend rope dropping TRON when it swaps to standby. Resort guests would be able to get into Tomorrowland 30 minutes early and wait near the ride for it to open, and then those staying off-site would be able to get in the queue once the park opens to everyone. We’ll have to wait and see what these wait times are like when the ride officially makes the switch! TRON Lightcycle / Run We’ll be there on September 9th to keep an eye on this coaster and see what the crowds look like, so stay tuned to DFB for all the updates. Bluey is back. Bluey and Bingo Over the last several years, few children’s series have been as popular as Bluey. The Australian series has taken the world by storm, becoming an award-winning hit for the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) and the Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC), which produce the show, as well as Disney, which holds streaming rights and broadcasts the series on Disney+ in many areas, including the U.S. Next month, more Bluey is coming to your TV. Beginning on October 7th, Disney+ will begin broadcasting the next seven installments of Bluey “minisodes,” the first batch of which premiered in July. Following their streaming debut, the episodes will also “roll out” on Disney Jr., Disney Channel, and Disney Jr. On-Demand throughout the week. ©Bluey These one-to-three-minute shorts “lean into playful interactions and games” featuring the show’s characters. The shorts are written by Bluey creator Joe Brumm. The batch that premiering next month features the following episodes, according to Disney: “Tattoo Shop” – Dad visits the ‘tattoo shop’ where the kids give him some ink. Dad wants skulls and snakes so he can look tough. But when the time comes to look, it’s not quite what Dad expected. “Phoney” – After a big day, everyone wants to sit back and listen to some relaxing music except Unicorse, who keeps getting ‘Phony’ to change the tune. “Blocks” – When it’s time to go, Bluey and Bingo ask Nana to keep their tower from falling until they come back. Nana and Bob try to live in their smallish unit without knocking it over. “Government” – Dad is using Bingo’s back as a typewriter to type a letter to the government demanding they do something about his errant children. “Drums” – Bingo is in the music shop with Mum when she discovers an electronic drum kit and some headphones. “Browny Bear” – Someone keeps tapping people on the shoulder and then vanishing, it’s very annoying! Mum enlists PI Browny Bear to investigate. “Whirlpool” – The kids make a whirlpool in the paddling pool and then jump into the swirling current. Bluey, which revolves around a family of heeler dogs living in Australia, is currently the most-watched streaming series of 2024 among U.S. viewers, with over 35 billion minutes watched. These new episodes will surely only add to that remarkable total. ©Disney The second of three batches of Bluey shorts (a premiere date for the final installment has yet to be released) will premiere on Disney+ on October 7th. If you tend to fly a lot, chances are you’re part of a frequent flyer program. When are you flying next? It’s a pretty popular way to get some serious perks for being loyal to a particular airline. The more you fly, the more frequent flyer miles you get. Or at least, that’s how it’s supposed to work. Some major U.S. airlines are being investigated for engaging in deceptive practices in their loyalty programs, and now we have an update. According to the Associated Press, the Biden administration is looking into the four largest U.S. airlines’ frequent flyer programs. Specifically, the government wants to examine how they devalue points that customers have earned along with frequently changing the number of points or miles needed to book a flight. Southwest plane U.S. Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg wrote to the CEOs at Delta, American, Southwest, and United Airlines on Thursday and asked for reports on their programs’ policies, fees, and other benefits. Consumers are fed up that airlines continue to raise the number of points needed to book a flight and the number of seats they can use points to purchase. Not flying today! Buttigieg stated that while loyalty programs have value, they are controlled by the airlines who can change them at any moment. “…unlike a traditional savings account, these rewards are controlled by a company that can unilaterally change their value,” he shared in a statement from the Transportation Department. “Our goal is to ensure consumers are getting the value that was promised to them, which means validating that these programs are transparent and fair.” Airplane In response, Delta said its loyalty members “mean everything to us, and providing a meaningful rewards experience is the top priority within Delta’s SkyMiles Program.” Similarly, Southwest shared that its points never expire and that it books more seats with points than other airlines. ©Southwest A spokesperson for Airlines for America, a trade group that represents the four carriers under investigation, said, “U.S. carriers are transparent about these programs, and policymakers should ensure that consumers can continue to be offered these important benefits.” This all comes at a time when frequent flyer programs are booming. Delta, which had more than 100 million frequent flyer members in 2020, added a record 8.5 million members in 2022. Whether or not anything changes will remain to be seen.
