OK, we’ll say it: we are control freaks. We carefully plan our trips to Disney World, scour menus ahead of time, and look inside each and every hotel before we book a reservation. But there are some things we just can’t control. GAH! Walt Disney World entrance We hate to admit it, but we can’t control the crowds, the lines, or the prices during the busy season at Disney World. It’s inevitable! But here’s the thing. Even though a lot of people already know that Disney World tends to be C R O W D E D in March, there’s one mistake we still see people making on vacation. Don’t make this mistake! OK, before we dive in, we should give you a little context. March is an infamous month in Disney World. Some fun events kick off in the spring, like the EPCOT Flower and Garden Festival, Mardi Gras, and Women’s History Month, but March is also around the time when the spring break crowds start heading to Disney World. Yikes! Phineas and Ferb at the Flower and Garden Festival There’s no official start date for spring break — it’s more of a large window of time that begins in mid-March and spans through mid-April. In the past, we’ve seen crowds start to pick up around March 15th, with the peak crowds hitting around Easter. Easter falls on Sunday, April 20th this year. Get ready for Easter crowds! During this time, expect higher wait times and a generally busy theme park day. It might take longer than usual for your mobile order to arrive. You might find long lines for small attractions that typically have a five-minute wait. You might even see the GIFT SHOPS fill up with people. It’s hard to escape the crowds. Animal Kingdom crowds Why are we telling you this? Even if you know Disney World will be crowded, you might not know what this means BEFORE you even step foot in the parks. Transportation takes a LOT longer than you might expect! We’ve seen people make this mistake all the time. Driving to Disney World is time-consuming! Even if the map says your destination is only 15–20 minutes away, don’t be fooled! It takes time for the bus (or boat or Monorail) to arrive. It takes time for everyone to get on the bus. It takes time for the bus to drive to all its stops. It takes time for everyone to unload their strollers. It takes time to go through security and scan your ticket. TL;DR? Give yourself at least an hour to get where you need to go. Disney’s Hollywood Studios entrance But wait! While you’re calculating the time you need to get to your destination, don’t forget the time it takes to actually WALK to your reservation or attraction. Let’s say you have a Lightning Lane for Rise of the Resistance. Well, it takes a while to walk all the way to the back of Disney’s Hollywood Studios. Don’t stop the clock when you arrive at the park! Spring Break crowds are no joke Here’s another mistake you might make. Let’s say you jumped in line at your hotel bus stop to Magic Kingdom. Great! You’re on the right track. But there’s one small problem. You’re standing at the very back of the line. Sometimes, you might not fit on the bus (or boat or Monorail) if the line is especially long. That means you have to wait even LONGER for the next bus to arrive. If you’re running low on time and the line looks long, you might want to splurge on a rideshare service like Uber or Lyft. Lyft pick-up We can’t make the crowds disappear, but we can help you prepare for the busy season! Patience is the name of the game here, so just make sure you know what you’re getting into if you visit Disney World this March. It will be busy, but you can still have fun in Disney World! Just make sure to give yourself enough time to get where you need to go. In the meantime, we’re always on the lookout for the latest Disney news, so stay tuned for more. Staying at Disney World hotels provides numerous perks that can help make your vacation better! For example, you can take advantage of a complimentary day at a Disney World water park on your check-in day, enjoy extra time in the park with Early Entry, and get free parking at the theme parks. Disney’s Riviera Resort Another big perk is taking advantage of complimentary Disney World transportation. This transportation can pretty much get you anywhere you want to go on Disney World property and includes a network of boats, buses, monorails, and the Skyliner. However, one Disney World hotel’s transportation options have decreased. From February 10th until early April 2025, boat transportation from Disney’s Old Key West Resort to Disney Springs will be unavailable. The resort will offer buses to take you to Disney Springs during this time. Old Key West While it can be frustrating if you are looking forward to using the boat to get to Disney Springs, Disney always ensures you have a way to get where you need to go. The bus may not be quite as fun of a way to get there, but you will still reach your destination! Keep reading below to see what other attractions and locations will be closed this week, February 22nd through March 1st! Magic Kingdom Playground at Dumbo the Flying Elephant The indoor children’s playground inside the Dumbo the Flying Elephant queue will close for refurbishment on February 24th, 2025. While the playground will be closed, the ride will still be open and available for kids of all ages to soar through the sky! Dumbo the Flying Elephant The indoor playground is expected to reopen in Spring 2025. Hall of Presidents The Hall of Presidents closed at Magic Kingdom on January 20th. Hall of Presidents The attraction is closed until later in 2025, though a specific date has not been shared by Disney. We will keep an eye out for updates, though! The closure is likely to change out the current president as January 20th marked Inauguration Day. While it is closed, other maintenance and routine work may also be happening. Astro Orbiter If you want to blast off into space, you’ll have to head over to Space Mountain because Astro Orbiter will be temporarily closed for refurbishment! Astro Orbiter Astro Orbiter will be closed as of January 13th and is planned to reopen in the summer of 2025. No specific date has been announced for the high-in-the-sky ride, but we’ll keep our eyes peeled for an update from Disney. The ride has currently been completely dismantled and is being refurbished elsewhere. It definitely looks a little barren as you are walking into Tomorrowland right now! Big Thunder Mountain Railroad We’ve been anticipating this ride closure for a while now, and on January 6th, Big Thunder Mountain Railroad closed for an extended temporary closure. Big Thunder Mountain Construction The “Wildest Ride in the Wilderness” will be closed for at least a year and will reopen sometime in 2026. The ride will be undergoing maintenance while it is closed. When it reopens, it will have some “new magic,” according to Disney. We can’t wait to see what changes will be coming to this ever-popular roller coaster! Why Is No One Asking This Huge Magic Kingdom Expansion Question? Frontierland Shootin’ Arcade On June 23rd, we had to say goodbye to an opening-day attraction that had been around for generations and provided simple fun to all who played. Now, the attraction has closed to make room for a new Disney Vacation Club lounge. Frontierland Shootin’ Arcade will become the lounge! This lounge will be the third in Disney World, joining one in EPCOT and one at Disney’s Contemporary Resort. Disney has not yet announced when the new lounge will open. Disney recently filed a new permit for the new DVC lounge, McKim’s Mile House, to install signage. We have been eagerly awaiting to see if we can see the signage outside, but so far, we have had no luck. Tomorrowland Terrace Tomorrowland Terrace is a quick-service restaurant that has been closed since the 2020 pandemic-related closures, but even before that, this spot was only occasionally open. Tomorrowland Terrace Once in a while, you’ll see the dining room open as a rest area (and it’s still being used for the Magic Kingdom Fireworks Dessert Parties), but it’s usually all roped off and empty. Disney hasn’t announced when this spot could finally reopen, but we’ll be watching for updates. If you’re looking for a nice spot to hang out in Disney World and take a rest, this could be it! Tortuga Tavern Just like Tomorrowland Terrace, Tortuga Tavern is also a seasonal restaurant in Magic Kingdom. It has been a bit since we have seen it open. Most recently, it was used as a cookie location for Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party. Tortuga Tavern However, there are now shrubs up around the dining area of the restaurant, and work is being done. When we stopped by recently, some of the shrubs had been taken down, and it looked like work had been done on the ground. We don’t know exactly when/if this restaurant will reopen, but we will keep you updated if we learn more! This Oddly Specific Map Shows Our Favorite Bathrooms in Magic Kingdom EPCOT Gran Fiesta Tour Starring the Three Caballeros Over at EPCOT, the Gran Fiesta Tour ride at the Mexico pavilion also closed on January 6th. Gran Fiesta Tour The ride will temporarily close for refurbishment and is expected to reopen on March 15th! Test Track Test Track closed on June 17th, and Disney is giving this ride a BIG makeover! Test Track Disney has shared that the new version of Test Track will take inspiration from the old ride, World of Motion, that was originally there when the park opened in 1982. Disney shared more details at D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Experience, and an updated opening timeline was just announced! We’ll be able to ride Test Track once again in late summer 2025. This Is One of the BEST Things To Do in EPCOT and You Can’t Change My Mind Restaurant Marrakesh Restaurant Marrakesh is currently closed as a dining location in the Morocco pavilion of EPCOT’s World Showcase, and there’s no word yet on when the restaurant could fully reopen. Restaurant Marrakesh Occasionally, we’ll see it open as a lounge or Kidcot Fun Stop. So, if you’re in the Morocco Pavilion, check it out to see if it’s open. We’re watching for updates on when the full restaurant could reopen! The SECRET To Getting Your Money’s Worth When Drinking Around the World at EPCOT Hollywood Studios Lightning McQueen’s Racing Academy The Cars-themed show featuring Lighting McQueen permanently closed on October 8th, 2024, to make way for a brand-new Villains show. Lightning McQueen Racing Academy Sunset Showcase The Cars show was previously housed in the Sunset Showcase building, but the last day for guests to enjoy it was October 7th. The new Villains show is supposed to debut in the summer of 2025. We’re always watching for more details about the new show, and we recently spotted a casting call for Cruella de Vil, Captain Hook, and Maleficent! These Disney Adult Hollywood Studios Hacks Are Getting Out of Control Voyage of the Little Mermaid Voyage of the Little Mermaid is currently closed in Disney World. But a bit ago we spotted that the iconic Voyage of the Little Mermaid marquee has been removed! So far it is still missing, but we are curious what, if anything, will takes its place. Disney is going to introduce a new, updated show in this spot, though it will still be themed to the animated movie The Little Mermaid! The new show will be called “The Little Mermaid — A Musical Adventure,” and it is now coming to Disney’s Hollywood Studios in Summer 2025. The marquee is now gone! Disney still hasn’t announced an official opening date for the new show, but it has been postponed from its Fall 2024 opening timeline. It will be a “fully reimagined theatrical production inspired by the Walt Disney Animation Studios classic.” 3 NEW Game-Changing Updates Announced for Disney’s Hollywood Studios in 2025 Animal Kingdom Bat Exhibit at Maharajah Jungle Trek The bat exhibit on the Maharajah Jungle Trek closed for refurbishment on February 17th, 2025. While this portion of the trail is closed, the rest of the Maharajah Jungle Trek is open! You could even spot baby tiger Bakso, who recently made his debut in the tiger exhibit. However, be prepared to wait to see this adorable addition and plan on arriving early. Maharajah Jungle Trek The bat exhibit is expected to reopen in early March 2025. But don’t let its closure keep you from making the trek — there is still so much to see! Kali River Rapids Kali River Rapids is a popular water ride at Disney’s Animal Kingdom. Kali River Rapids Since this is a water ride, and it’s a bit cold outside in Florida during the winter, Disney often closes this ride for refurbishment this time of year. It closed on January 6th and is expected to reopen in March. TriceraTop Spin, Chester & Hester’s Dinosaur Treasures, and Fossil Fun Games The first round of closures began in DinoLand U.S.A. on January 13th, 2025. TriceraTop Spin, Chester & Hester’s Dinosaur Treasures, and Fossil Fun Game were closed down, and construction has begun on the brand-new land themed to the Tropical Americas, Pueblo Esperanza. The walls have been up since the closure, and we have seen TriceraTop Spin being dismantled. DinoLand Construction It is definitely a sad sight, but we are also excited to see Pueblo Esperanza! DINOSAUR, Restaurantosaurus, the snack stands, and The Boneyard remain open. Disney hasn’t announced an official closing date for the rest of DinoLand. However, they have announced that “2025 is your year to visit before it goes extinct!” Another Part of Disney’s Animal Kingdom Will Close Soon Typhoon Lagoon Blizzard Beach officially welcomed guests back on November 4th! That same day, Typhoon Lagoon closed its gates for the season. Typhoon Lagoon Typhoon Lagoon will likely be closed throughout the winter until sometime in the spring. Disney has been having one water park open at a time seasonally since 2020. In the meantime, you can enjoy the slopes at Blizzard Beach this winter! Click here to learn all about Blizzard Beach Disney World Hotels Stormalong Bay and Hurricane Hanna’s– Disney’s Yacht and Beach Club Resorts Stormalong Bay is the shared pool between Disney’s Yacht and Beach Club Resorts. It features a beach, a lazy river, a large pool, and an exciting pirate ship slide! When we stopped by recently, we noticed that they were hard at work at Stormalong Bay. Work being done at Stormalong Bay From January until June, this pool area will be closed for refurbishment. While it’s closed, hotel guests can use the Tidal (Beach Club), Admiral (Yacht Club), and Dunes Cove (Beach Club) leisure pools. During the refurbishment, Hurricane Hanna’s, the pool bar at Stormalong Bay will also be closed. Fantasia Pool — Disney’s All-Star Movies Resort From January 1st through April 30th, the Fantasia Pool at Disney’s All-Star Movies Resort will be closed. Fantasia Pool While this pool is closed, you can swim at the Duck Pond Pool at Disney’s All-Star Movies Resort if you’re staying here. Courtyard Pool and Courtyard Pool Bar — Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort The Courtyard Pool, spa, and Courtyard Pool Bar at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort are closed for refurbishment. Courtyard Pool Bar The refurbishments started on January 27th and will last through late February. This is the main pool at the hotel, but the Beach Pool will remain open throughout the refurbishment. Everything POP Shopping & Dining — Disney’s Pop Century Resort The Everything Pop Food Court still remains on Disney World’s refurbishment. However, the area looks open except for one food window! Since July 29th, Everything Pop has been getting some work done. The refurbishment was supposed to end on September 29th. However, it was extended to being under refurbishment until April 2025. Currently, it is still under refurbishment, but the full food court and dining area are available; guests just might see or hear construction work being done. Everything Pop When we stopped by a few weeks back, it looked like all the walls were down. A Cast Member said the food court and gift shop are pretty much done, but some behind-the-scenes work is still being done. The only thing we noticed was one food window still closed off. Merchandise Locations — Disney’s BoardWalk The merchandise locations along Disney’s BoardWalk will be closing for refurbishment in phases. The closures will last until May 2025, but two merchandise locations will always be available during the refurbishment. Disney’s BoardWalk The Screen Door General Store is currently closed for refurbishment, and a Cast Member estimated it will likely be closed for 6-7 weeks until they move to Character Carnival next. Pixar has created some of the most beloved movies and characters of ALL time, which is why we are still celebrating Pixar characters to this day in Disney parks. Pixar Place Hotel Over at Disneyland Resort, Disney California Adventure has a WHOLE Pixar Pier area that includes San Fransokyo Square, dedicated to Big Hero 6. The resort has also had a Pixar Fest in the past (although it doesn’t look like it’s happening this year). There’s even a hotel THEMED to Pixar, Pixar Place Hotel. Well, if you need even MORE Pixar in your life, Pixar Place Hotel is now offering Pixar Putt, a pop-up Pixar mini golf course. You’ll find Pixar Putt on the first floor of the Pixar Place Hotel in the convention center area. It’s open from 10:30 AM to 8:30 PM every day with tee times being every 30 minutes. It’s basically a pop-up miniature golf course with a Pixar theme. Fun, right? Note that this is a limited time offering and it will run through June 1st. Pixar Putt Pixar Putt has actually been traveling the country and has finally made its way to the Pixar Place Hotel. This activity could be part of a full-day experience where you come to play mini golf and then enjoy some of the restaurants at the Pixar Place Hotel. On the weekends, you can even head up to the pool deck to watch the Disneyland fireworks. Note that parking is only validated for three hours, though. Let’s play mini golf! You’ll find holes dedicated to some of your favorite Pixar movies, including Elemental… Elemental …Turning Red… Turning Red …WALL-E… WALL-E …Inside Out 2.. Inside Out 2 …The Incredibles… The Incredibles …Coco…and more! Coco Booking is available online via the Pixar Putt website or in person — however, online booking is highly encouraged. DVC members can also stop by the DVC desk in the Pixar Place Hotel for a special golf ball. Pizza Planet golf cart The winner gets a coupon for a free Hole in One Donut — also if you play the course, you can get EXCLUSIVE food at both Sketch Pad Cafe and Great Maple. Universal is getting ready to open its third theme park, Epic Universe, on May 22nd, 2025 — and we are so ready. ©Universal The new theme park will include five themed lands with new attractions, restaurants, shopping, and more. Tickets went on sale last year, but Universal recently released new details about discounted tickets, including discounts for members of the U.S. military. Now, we’re breaking down the details about that discount! Active duty and retired U.S. military members who have an active 2025 Military Freedom Pass now have the opportunity to purchase a 1-Park, 1-Day Universal Epic Universe ticket as an add-on to their pass. They can do this via their Universal Orlando account. So why is this a big deal? Well, regular guests who want to visit Epic Universe can’t get single day tickets JUST for that park. They have to buy multi-day tickets with one day at Epic Universe. So this is a huge advantage for military members. Hi, there! I’ve been obsessed with the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) ever since Iron Man was released in 2008 — the irony is that I only went to the movie because my Robert Downey Jr.-obsessed cousin dragged me to it. However, that was it…I was hooked. ©Marvel I was soon an MCU fanatic, seeing every single Marvel movie in the theater the week it released, sitting patiently through the credits just to see what kind of scene would air at the end (Marvel TRAINED US to do that, y’all). I lived through the pain of Avengers: Infinity War and the triumph of Avengers: Endgame. After that, though, Marvel seemed to lose its footing, it didn’t really know where to go after such an epic saga came to an end. Now, we’d already had SOME Marvel TV shows on Netflix, but Disney started making Marvel shows for Disney+ — and you know what, I think that’s where some of Marvel’s best stories are. It all started with WandaVision, which had a quirky concept that somehow just WORKED. Marvel picked up with the story of Wanda Maximoff after the events of Endgame and told a beautiful story of how grief could change and shape a person (and cause them to create a whole other reality to live in). One thing that WandaVision showed us is that a TV show could really delve into both the hearts and minds of Marvel characters in a way movies cannot. ©Marvel Studios The reason this show worked so well, too, was its episodic nature, which each episode an homage to a different classic TV sitcom that Wanda was acting out to deal with her grief. Eventually, she became the Scarlet Witch and dealt with her issues and came into her power. Then Marvel went and ignored all of that character development in Doctor Strange: In the Multiverse of Madness (and I’ll never forgive Marvel for erasing Wanda’s development from WandaVision). So TV show: 1, movie: 0. ©Disney Marvel then brought another MCU character back for a TV show with Loki, which took the Trickster God on new adventures with the Time Variance Authority into two seasons of a lot of wibbly-wobbly timey-wimey situations. And it was brilliant. Loki finally got some breathing room as a character that he did not get in the movies. Again, TV wins. ©Disney The next Marvel show was The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, which aired later in 2021, that basically gave us the buddy cop series we didn’t know we needed. It also set up Sam Wilson as Captain America, which leads us to Marvel’s latest film release, Captain America: Brave New World, which is getting mixed reviews. The TV show, though? Another great example of how to tell the story of two characters who seem to have nothing in common, but somehow mesh. Do you see a pattern here? TV shows have more freedom to tell these characters’ stories SO much better than movies. The Falcon and the Winter Solider That was followed by Hawkeye, who somehow made one of the most boring MCU characters way more interesting (because he had a chance to HAVE a story) while handing the reins to the next generation. Moon Knight brought us an all-new MCU character and made him and his adventures compelling. She-Hulk was a completely different kind of story (as it was in the comics) and made us laugh. Ms. Marvel gave us the joy that is Iman Vellani portraying Kamala Khan. TV knew how to tell these stories in a way that movies just couldn’t. ©Disney We also can’t forget the specials, like Werewolf By Night, as well as the animated What If…? Both of these shows managed to tell Marvel stories many people had never heard about before in entertaining ways. ©Marvel Okay, so we do have to talk about the one TV show that just didn’t hit with audiences. That was Secret Invasion. This felt like a misstep by the studios, although how you can manage to mess up a show starring Samuel L. Jackson is beyond me. But with all the Marvel content being released on Disney+, the track record is still pretty good, although many might call this series a dud. ©Marvel But that leads us to the current slate of Marvel TV. Echo set up the return of Kingpin, who we’ll be seeing more of in Daredevil: Born Again. These shows are a change of pace for Marvel TV on Disney+ because they’re going to be darker than what we’ve previously seen, taking a page from the Netflix shows that came before them. Daredevil, in particular, is going to be HUGE, because this will be the first series from Netflix that is getting new life on Disney’s streamer. ©Marvel Okay, I waited to save the best for last, because Agatha All Along would never have even worked as a movie. This is a show that defies explanation, except that it’s a spin-off of WandaVision starring Agatha Harkness, a character no one would have ever given top billing in a movie. So this witchy little show was a huge hit with viewers and gave us a song we’ll all be singing every Halloween…down, down the witches road…down the witches road. ©Marvel There are also plenty more Marvel shows to come, including the highly-anticipated Wonder Man and Vision Quest. And I for one am grateful because at this point, I’d rather watch these shows on Disney+ and get to know these characters than see them have character development for all of five minutes between explosions on the big screen. The epicness of the Infinity Saga is never going to be repeated on film, so let’s focus on more character-driven pieces instead. Marvel should focus more on TV because it’s the best form of media that lets these characters stretch, breathe, and grow. Stay tuned to DFB for more. runDisney events always bring a certain kind of magic to the parks. From people showing off their medals and posting pictures of their achievements, runDisney welcomes a new crowd of guests to the parks. EPCOT While we love the fun energy, the race courses going right through the parks can also cause park closures and traffic! EPCOT will open at 10:00 AM on February 23rd due to the Disney Princess Half Marathon Weekend. Early entry for resort guests will be from 9:30 to 10:00 AM. ©runDisney Tomorrow might be a great day to have a late start to your park day and take some time to enjoy your resort amenities. Take a dip in the pool or enjoy a longer table service breakfast before grabbing your park bag and running to rope drop. Princess Half Marathon Weekend (2023) If you’re planning on park hopping, it might be a good idea to start at another park, like Magic Kingdom or Hollywood Studios, and then take the monorail or Skyliner over when you’re ready to start your journey around the World Showcase. Disney World’s Skyliner The Disney Princess Half Marathon Weekend is a three-day event during which athletes can choose from a 5k, 10k, and half marathon, all themed to their favorite princess! These events start early in the morning and allow runners to race throughout the parks, creating unique memories and photo opportunities. ©Disney Because of these special events, Disney parks are usually more crowded than usual. Be prepared to wait longer for your favorite attraction and character meet-and-greets. If you are planning on getting to the parks at a certain time, you’ll want to be ready for extra traffic, so leave early before your lunch reservation! If you’re visiting Orlando, you’re probably at Disney World or Universal Orlando. But there’s an event happening this weekend that we need to tell you about. ©Immerse Now, the first thing we need to tell you is that this event is FREE, although you can get tickets to upgrade your experience. However, you’ll get to see Disney performers (among others) without needing to pay a dime. If you’re looking for something to do this weekend through February 23rd, you’ll want to head to IMMERSE, a performing and interactive art festival in the heart of downtown Orlando. It’s like the EPCOT Festival of the Arts, BUT FOR FREE. Immerse takes up 10 city blocks in downtown Orlando and features hundreds of live performances, art installations, and other creative experiences. Some of the live performances are by folks we’re sure you’re aware of, including Blue Man Group, Cirque du Soleil, and Michael James Scott (best known for playing Genie in Broadway’s Aladdin). Immerse is FREE We got the opportunity to see some really cool art installations that we could literally step into and experience in a unique way. Art installation But what really grabbed us were the performances, including Blue Man Group. Y’all, Orlando LOVES it some Blue Man Group. This was probably the most crowded performance we saw when we visited Immerse. It was a great performance — and again, THIS IS FREE. Blue Man Group However, Cirque du Soleil: Drawn to Life performers were there, too. As you may know, this is a Cirque du Soleil show you can currently see in Disney Springs. Cirque du Soleil performers There are plenty of other live performances, too, including Push Love with Cesar De La Rosa. You might recognize him from the multiple bands that grace stages in Disney World — he’s also in the band Vybe, which performs in the EPCOT Flower & Garden Festival Garden Rocks concert series. Push Love Another thing you can enjoy at Immerse is Car Music, an immersive theater that is also sort of like an escape room. It takes place in an antique van that seats six people. Car Music This is great way to get out and see art that’s local to Orlando — plus, did we mention that it’s FREE. Immerse runs each evening this weekend from 5 PM to 11 PM — you don’t want to miss it if you’re in the area. Traveling can be stressful, especially when you’re flying! So you’ll want to look out for these things that can make your head spin at Orlando Airport. Orlando International Airport If you’re going to Disney World soon and if you’re flying, there’s a good chance you’re flying into the Orlando International Airport (MCO). Because I live further away from Orlando, I usually fly into MCO. Several times, while going through that airport, I noticed that two major issues can leave anyone confused. 1. The TSA Checks There are several TSA security checkpoints and which one you go to will depend on your gate number. This can get pretty confusing, especially if you’re used to just checking which terminal you need to head to and then looking for your gate number. MCO Airport At Orlando Airport, you’ll want to make sure you go through the correct TSA so that you can head to the right area of the airport that has your gate. You will actually have to take a small form of transportation to get to your terminal, but more on that later. Security lines! The lines for TSA are known to be long at Orlando Airport, especially if you’re flying on a holiday. One way to avoid this is to use a free service! MCO Reserve is a skip-the-line service at the airport that lets you completely bypass the security line for FREE. You can schedule a time ahead of your trip to basically have an appointment at TSA. This is a must if you don’t have TSA precheck. Read More About MCO Reserve Here! ©Orlando International Airport 2. The Layout The Orlando airport is BIG, and if you don’t know where you’re going (or even sometimes if you THINK you know where you’re going), you can get lost very easily. I’m used to a smaller airport, in comparison, it is much smaller compared to MCO. Orlando International Airport You’ll need to navigate a few different floors and possibly different terminals. Here’s a quick look at the Terminal A/B building… ©Orlando Airport …and another at Terminal C. ©Orlando Airport Once you get to the airport from your destination, you’ll need to take the Gate Link (a Monorail-type transportation service) from the gate buildings to one of those Terminal buildings. The Gate Links typically come every few minutes, and the ride only takes about a minute, so it’s not a big time suck. If you are flying into or out of Terminal C, you do not have to take a Gate Link unless you have a connecting flight leaving out of Terminal A or B. Terminal C Similar to multiple TSAs, you also want to make sure you get on the right Gate Link! Check the signs over the stop to make sure your airline is on there. If you do get on the wrong one, just hop back on and it will take you back. It’s not a huge deal — unless you’re running late for your flight! Welcome to Orlando! With a little bit of prior knowledge, navigating MCO can be done. You are now entering The Cookie Zone! Hollywood Studios Here at Disney Food Blog, we love to retry some of our favorite snacks to make sure they’re still as good as we remember, so we hopped back into Hollywood Studios to try two iconic cookies! One of the cookies we recently tried again is Jack-Jack’s Num Num Cookie at The Market, and we instantly remembered why this is one of our favorites at Hollywood Studios! For $6.59, this is a big, sharable cookie — even though you might want to keep most of it for yourself! Yum! This warm chocolate chip cookie is perfectly gooey and has big chunks of milk chocolate. The dough falls apart easily, making it a convenient dessert to pass around with family. She’s a beaut! You’ll find this treat at a cookie stand called The Market, which is tucked right by Walt Disney Presents, behind Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway. We know it looks a little simple, but there is nothing better than a chocolate chip cookie done right, and Jack-Jack’s Num Num Cookie is just that. It’s also a family-friendly treat that’s perfect when you want something familiar! Just LOOK at that cross-section! Heading towards The Tower of Terror, we also tried Joffrey’s Terror Cookie at the Joffrey’s stand located right outside the attraction. You can get this one for $5.99. Terror Cookie The Terror Cookie is made with white chocolate chips, Oreo bits, and a dusting of cinnamon sugar on top. The cookie itself is a regular sugar cookie (dyed purple for DRAMA). It is a very doughy cookie! You can taste the white chocolate throughout, and there are even chunks of Oreos inside. It reminded our reporter of a macadamia nut cookie but without the crunch! Here’s a hot tip for you: we like to order this sweet cookie with our coffee in the morning. It’s a unique little treat, and we love the cinnamon sugar on top! It’s a great snack to grab before heading in line at the Tower of Terror, too! Terror Cookie We would order both of these cookies again, but we have a hard time resisting the gooeyness of Jack-Jack’s Num Num Cookie. This cookie looks incredible in photos, and little ones might like it more than the Terror Cookie because who doesn’t love a perfect chocolate chip cookie? This is an old favorite! Either way, you can’t go wrong with these cookies. Both are under $7 and are a perfect little pick-me-up when you’re waiting for your reservation at The Brown Derby or any other sit-down restaurant at Hollywood Studios. We can’t wait to try these cookies again! Stay up to date with Disney Food Blog to learn about our favorite treats before your next trip. Heading to Hollywood Studios? Are all seats on a Disney World attraction created equal? We’re here to argue that they are not! Tiana’s Bayou Adventure Whether you are using Lightning Lanes to skip the lines or you’re waiting a while in a standard queue, you’ll want to have the best riding experience possible. There are certain attractions that we think have better seats than the rest of the ride vehicle. But how do you know which ones they are and how do you get these seats? The best way to get a specific seat at any Disney attraction is to request it! Just ask the Cast Member who is giving directions before you get on and if it is possible, they can try to help make it happen. This can depend on other factors like party size and availability. You may also have to wait longer for a special request, but it could be worth it! Now, let’s talk about which seats to request. Cosmic Rewind First up and a very popular one is Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind in EPCOT. You’ll want to ask for row 9 or 10. The ride will launch BACKWARDS, so that you’re feeling the same perceived speed that you would at the back of the coaster, but backwards. You also get to be in the front closest to the “big” before the jumpback. Speaking of EPCOT, I will also ask for a spot in section B row 2 (or section B row 1 if you don’t like feet in your face) on Soarin’ Around the World, so that you see the screen without squiggles and curves. Space Mountain Over at Magic Kingdom, I prefer the back of Space Mountain. It feels faster and I don’t have proof that it is — but it is fun! If you want to not get as wet on Tiana’s Bayou Adventure, ask for the back row. We can’t promise you’ll be completely dry, but it could help. Down they go! Let’s head to Disney’s Animal Kingdom. On Kilimanjaro Safaris, you’ll want to try to sit on the left of the truck. This allows you to have the best view of some key animals like lions, elephants, and cheetahs. The front row of Expedition Everest is worth the wait as well. At the peak before the train heads backwards, you will be able to really see other Disney icons! Safari Disney’s Hollywood Studios, being the pilots on the Millennium Falcon: Smuggler’s Run is so fun — although, maybe a little stressful! You’re in charge of the direction of the ship so you’re job is important. For Slinky Dog Dash, I prefer the back of Slinky because the front row has a partially blocked view because of Slinky’s head. When you go to Disney World, there are rules you have to follow to ensure everyone stays safe. Animal Kingdom Most of these rules are self-explanatory and familiar rules you’ll find at other theme parks — no running, no horseplay, no fighting with other guests or workers. Disney, however, does have some additional rules. For example, anyone over the age of 14 is banned from wearing a Disney costume to the parks, and no masks are allowed to be part of any costume. But is it possible that another interesting rule could make it to the parks due to shoe safety, effectively BANNING a popular shoe? According to Today, an anti-Croc movement is beginning around the country, but not because of the controversial style (which has honestly been a debate since they were released in 2002 — you either love them or hate them, for the most part). No, the concern for Crocs here stems from a potential safety hazard. No Crocs allowed on Disney World escalators Specifically, dozens of schools in 20 different states have banned Crocs in their dress codes, citing them as unsafe. Some students at Bessemer City High School in Alabama have worn Crocs in protest, stating that their shoes are just as safe as any other shoe, though districts are holding firm with their new rules. Crocs in Disney World Some podiatrists like Dr. Priya Parthasarathy told Today that Crocs easily get caught in equipment around schools, causing the student to trip and fall, twist their ankle, or rip a toenail off, which she stated are things she sees every day in the office. She went on to say that there’s a time and place for Crocs, and while school isn’t one of them, they can be worn in moderation or in recovery after a workout. Winnie the Pooh Crocs A Crocs spokesperson told Today that while the bans are unfortunate, they haven’t affected sales. They went on to say, “Classic Clog is a comfortable, casual shoe that is appropriate for everyday wear. We are not, nor do we market ourselves as, a specialty or performance brand.” Mickey and Friends Crocs We’re interested to see if this ban will be implemented elsewhere. Honestly, we can’t tell you how many times we’ve seen accidents happen with Crocs in Disney World. Most notably, this photo below still haunts us. Crocs…stuck in the escalator Can you imagine the fear? What if the Crocs had gone any further and actually gotten to the person’s foot! We shiver just thinking about it. STUCK Seriously — it happens more than you might think! This Hilarious Problem Keeps Happening in Disney World — And It Will Make You Think Twice Before Wearing CROCS! Universal has BIG plans for the future of its theme parks. That includes the grand opening of its third theme park at Universal Orlando, Epic Universe. ©Universal Additionally, Universal is creating a theme park for kids and families in Texas called Universal Kids Resort. PLUS, Universal is opening a huge horror-themed attraction in Las Vegas (and tickets are on sale now). Well, we have a hint that Universal COULD be working on bringing something HUGE to its theme parks: Wicked. Yep, now that the movie is a bonafide hit, Universal could bring a permanent Wicked addition to its parks, according to comments made by Mark Woodbury, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Universal Destinations & Experiences when speaking with the New York Times. Woodbury seems to have secret plans for attractions — and more — inspired by Wicked. Per the New York Times, he said, “When I saw it, my first reaction was, ‘This is a theme park waiting to happen.'” We couldn’t agree more. It’s interesting that he used the term “theme park,” rather than “land,” but it could be he’s just tossing around some basic concepts at this point. Wicked at Universal Hollywood Studios Universal did bring a limited-time Wicked experience recently to Universal Orlando that included a meet-and-greet with Glinda and Elphaba, special Wicked-themed treats, special Wicked merchandise, displays of costumes from the movie, and more. However, that seems like it may have been a bit of a test to see what the demand might be for more Wicked in Universal’s theme parks. Elphaba and Glinda meet and greet One thing we do know is that Universal has land still sitting around Epic Universe that it hasn’t used yet to add future expansions to the park. Could the next portal in Epic Universe lead to the land of Oz? The world and its characters are certainly perfect for a land of its own, but until Universal announces anything official, all we can do is dream…and guess. Epic Universe has room to grow! However, a Wicked land or park could help Universal give Disney’s theme parks even more competition, especially considering how big the franchise is, as well as how far back it goes as it is based on The Wizard of Oz. There’s a lot of potential there, after all. Stay tuned to DFB for more. Read more: DFB's complete guide to Universal’s Epic Universe >> What do you think? Hurricane season is just around the corner, which means the 2025 tropical cyclone names have been released. Magic Kingdom entrance the day after Hurricane Milton If you didn’t know, there’s an official list of storm names cycled through every six years. They’re in alphabetical order, so the year’s first storm starts with A, then the second B, and so on. Some names are retired if the storm is severe enough! While scanning the list, we noticed some familiar names; we didn’t expect to see potential hurricanes named after some of our favorite Disney characters! For 2025, four of the potential hurricane names from the National Hurricane Center remind us of some of our beloved Disney characters! Hurricane Imelda ©Disney From Coco, Mama Imelda is Miguel’s great-great-grandmother (and the one who banned music from the family)! If only she could ban hurricanes. Hurricane Gabrielle ©Disney It’s hard to hear Gabrielle and not be reminded of our favorite High School Musical star, Gabriella! There’s no “T as in Troy” on the list, though. Hurricane Sebastien ©Disney While spelled differently, who doesn’t love Sebastian from The Little Mermaid? This friendly crustacean tries to keep Ariel out of trouble and has the best musical number in the movie with Under the Sea! Hurricane Wendy ©Disney Right at the end of the list is Wendy, of course, reminding us of Wendy Darling from Peter Pan. The sweet girl flew off to Neverland and kept the stories of Peter Pan alive! Rainy day at Hollywood Studios ahead of Hurricane Milton If you’re planning a Disney World trip during hurricane season, which runs from June 1st to November 30th, be aware that there might be extra rain and possible park closures like we saw with Hurricane Milton in 2024. It’s never a bad idea to add that extra travel insurance and make sure your plans are flexible. Disney World Don’t want to go through all of the stress of booking your Disney World trip alone? This Is the Best EPCOT News We’ve Seen All Month
Disney4me posted a topic in Disney Food/Restaurants
While we’re still waiting for Test Track to reopen later this year, we’ve seen some pretty great news come out of EPCOT. Spaceship Earth February is usually quiet at Disney World, but not this year with all the closures that have been happening. However, it’s not all bad news as EPCOT introduced some pretty awesome updates! Cider and Mino are two new female manatees that are being rehabbed by Disney before being released back into the wild. Cider and Mino Cider is the bigger manatee and is being treated for a neck wound. Mino is only two and underweight, so Disney is working to get her weight up before she can be released. To say we’re pulling for both of these gorgeous creatures is an understatement and we hope everything goes as plan to get them both happy and healthy! Snackin’ Disney is also brought in two manatees not currently in the on-stage tanks, so we’ll keep an eye out for them each visit! You probably could have never guessed it based on the name of our blog, but we LOVE Disney food here at DFB. While we have our favorite snacks, treats, and meals in all the Disney parks, we always get excited when Disney introduces new food items. Baked Cheesy Biscuits Disneyland has been on a roll with introducing new food items recently, and we have been thrilled to dig into lots of new treats. We are once again back with some more NEW snacks at Disneyland Resort, and we can’t wait to share them with you! Disneyland released some new snacks to celebrate the new Marvel movie, Captain America: Brave New World, and we are headed to Disney California Adventure Park to try some of them! Our first stop is Shawarma & More in the Avengers Campus. When we found out that Disneyland was introducing a pizza pocket, you know we had to give it a try! There are two different pizza pockets available: a Pepperoni Pizza Pocket ($10.49) and a Cheese Pizza Pocket ($9.99). Shawarma & More We decided to grab the Pepperoni Pizza Pocket for $10.49. It is pepperoni, mozzarella, and house-made marinara sauce wrapped in empanada dough. For starters, while the pizza pocket looks delicious, we were slightly underwhelmed by the size. For over $10, we were hoping for a bit bigger of a pocket. But does the taste make it worth it? Let’s dig in! Pepperoni Pizza Pocket Overall, this guy was super tasty and full of flavor. The pepperoni was in cubes throughout the pocket, so think more like sausage cubes versus flat pepperoni that you would find on a pizza. The cubed pepperoni made for a great texture in each bite. The dough was very flaky, and we thought the ratio of dough to filling was perfect. Pepperoni Pizza Pocket Our biggest complaint is that this snack isn’t served super hot. The cheese was not oozing, and we really think it would have tasted better if it had been fresh and hot. However, logistically, we know it won’t be served hot as you get it at a cart. We were also a bit confused by the sauce. The menu stated that it was a “house-made marinara sauce,” but it tasted like a ranch sauce with a tomato flavor. It is a bit vinegary tasting and has a tang to it. The sauce wasn’t bad, but we preferred the pizza pocket by itself. A look inside! We have finished our first snack and are now heading to Pym Test Kitchen to try two more treats! Pym Test Kitchen is also located in the Avengers Campus area of Disney California Adventure. Pym Test Kitchen We are starting with the Red Rage Wings, which you can get for $12.49. These are spicy chicken wings tossed in a habanero sauce and served with potato bites and ranch dressing. Red Rage Wings They definitely did not lie about these wings being red! And they DEFINITELY live up to their name. We were incredibly impressed with how much spice they packed into these wings. Our eyeballs were burning, and they somehow managed to taste even hotter than they smelled. Red Rage Wings If you can get past the immense amount of spice, the flavor is also really good on these wings. They’re a bit on the salty side but still very tasty. The chicken is juicy, with a lovely crunch on the outside. Even the tater tots are seasoned with a bit of spicy chili powder on top! Get ready for plenty of heat. We definitely devoured the ranch sauce for some reprieve from the heat. These are not for the spicy-averse! Finally, we are also trying the Red Gamma Gulp, which is also available at Pym Test Kitchen. We need something to save our mouths from the Red Rage Wings! The Red Gamma Gulp costs $7.29 and is a red velvet cold brew with cream cheese cold foam. Red Gamma Gulp You can definitely taste the red velvet flavor in this drink! The flavor of the cold brew also comes through slightly, but it is very heavy on the red velvet flavor. We didn’t get a lot of flavor from the cream cheese cold foam either. This won’t be your drink if you want lots of coffee flavor. But if you are looking for a tasty red velvet drink, you will probably really enjoy this! While Pirates of the Caribbean may be synonymous with Magic Kingdom now, it wasn’t always that way. In fact, Pirates of the Caribbean wasn’t originally supposed to come to Disney World at all. Pirates of the Caribbean in Magic Kingdom But, if you ask me — that would have been a huge mistake. I may be slightly biased considering that this swashbuckling adventure is quite possibly my favorite ride in Magic Kingdom (though it’s often a toss-up between Pirates and Haunted Mansion ), but can you even imagine what Adventureland would look like today if Pirates of the Caribbean wasn’t there? I shudder at the thought. When Magic Kingdom opened in 1971, imagine the surprise of guests — who had spent years hearing Walt Disney himself plug Pirates of the Caribbean — when they found out that this attraction was, in fact, NOT present at Disney World. They started complaining to Guest Relations about the lack of pillaging and plundering, and a fast-tracked version of Pirates of the Caribbean was born. Pirates of the Caribbean in Magic Kingdom Originally, Imagineers and executives didn’t think that Floridians and those visiting Magic Kingdom would want a pirate attraction, considering how close Florida is to the Caribbean. It was thought that the ride wouldn’t have the same allure as it did in California, so plans for the Western River Expedition (and Big Thunder Mountain!) were drawn up instead. Pirates of the Caribbean But, the squeaky wheel gets the grease, and Magic Kingdom’s Pirates of the Caribbean opened on December 15th, 1973. Here’s where Disney went wrong with their initial thought that a pirate-themed attraction wouldn’t fit in the Florida park — Floridians love pirates. As a native Floridian who loves pirates, I feel particularly qualified to talk about this. Pirates of the Caribbean Florida and pirates go way back, with its location being so close to the Caribbean and many other trade routes. Pirates were active in several different coastal Florida cities like St. Augustine, Pensacola, the Florida Keys, and the Gulf Coast — even a pirate who was rumored to work under the infamous Jean Lafitte. Florida is SO obsessed with pirates that every year, hundreds of thousands of people descend on the City of Tampa to celebrate the Gasparilla Pirate Festival, which celebrates the legend of mythical pirate José Gaspar. ©Visit Tampa Bay If Gasparilla sounds familiar, you might be thinking of Gasparilla Island Grill at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort, which is named after Gasparilla Island on Florida’s east coast — where Boca Grande is located. As Florida folklore tells it, José Gaspar had his base on the island and purportedly hid his treasure there. Oddly enough, the treasure has still never been found to this day. Clearly, Pirates of the Caribbean belongs in Florida and in Magic Kingdom. And, this just goes to show that sometimes, Disney does listen to fans! Gasparilla Island, Florida | ©Southern Living In the meantime, we’ll be on the lookout for the latest updates from Disney World and more.
