We’re big fans of the Disney World transportation system! Disney World’s Skyliner The free offerings are great for guests trying to get around the resort. Each option has several perks, but there are downsides to each as well. One of our favorite modes of transportation around Disney World is the Skyliner. It’s practically a ride on its own before even getting into the parks! It’s typically efficient and offers direct access to EPCOT and Disney’s Hollywood Studios. However, there are two downsides to it as well. The Disney Skyliner moves people between several resorts, EPCOT, and Hollywood Studios. Disney’s Art of Animation, Disney’s Pop Century, Disney’s Riviera, and Disney Caribbean Resorts are each located at Skyliner stations, where you can catch a gondola to one of the other three resorts or to the two parks. Skyliner Station at Disney’s Pop Century and Art of Animation Resorts We really do love the Skyliner as it provides a direct trip to the two parks. However, there are two huge problems that come with the Skyliner. Weather The Syliner is Disney World’s “highway in the sky,” but that also means that its operation relies on good weather. If it’s raining without lightning, you’ll likely still be able to use it. But if lightning is in the area, the Skyliner will be shut down. And unfortunately, rain and storms are pretty common in Florida. Skyliner closed at Hollywood Studios If you’re at your hotel and trying to get to Hollywood Studios or EPCOT when it shuts down for weather, Disney will provide buses to the parks, and the other way is also true, buses will be provided from the parks to the hotels. However, this can take longer, especially if you were already in line for the Skyliner. Skyliner Unfortunately, if you’re at EPCOT trying to catch the Skyliner at International Gateway and it closes for weather, that means a very long walk to the front of the park to catch the bus. If you happen to be on the Skyliner when it closes for weather, know that your safety is the priority for Cast Members, and if needed, there is an emergency kit on each gondola. Long Lines Typically, you can catch the Skyliner from any of the stations without much of a wait. You’ll often find it a walk-on ride, which is one of the many perks of this transportation system. However, that is not always the case, and there are certain times of the day when you may end up in a pretty hefty line. Skyliner gondolas Mornings are one of the times you may find a much longer line than usual, especially at the interchange station at the Caribbean and Riviera Resorts. This is where the two Skyliners meet, and all the hotel guests come through this one station, making early mornings a bit busier as everyone heads to rope drop the parks. Also, those with large strollers, ECVs, and wheelchairs may make the Skyliner briefly stop so they can safely board the gondola. Skyliner station Another busy time for the Skyliner is at night when the parks close. Particularly, the International Gateway Skyliner station can get packed up for a VERY long way. We’ve seen this line reach Disney’s Beach Club Resort and take a relatively long time to load everyone at the end of the night from EPCOT. For guests staying at Skyliner resorts, this is usually the only way to get back to your hotel as you won’t be able to take a bus back unless there is bad weather (another option would be to take a ride-share vehicle back). The line at the International Gateway station can get VERY long We truly do love the Skyliner, but these are two problems to watch out for as you journey through the sky! As we continue to recognize National Veterans and Military Families Month, we were honored to host a special U.S. Army family who visited Walt Disney World Resort for the first time as the recipient of Operation Gratitude’s 4 millionth care package that contained some magic inside— an all-expense paid vacation to The Most Magical Place on Earth! To say that U.S. Army Sgt. Lamari Harris, a single mother of 3 children, received the surprise of a lifetime when she was presented with this special care package by her Army leadership in the deserts of Southwest Asia would be an understatement. The Operation Gratitude care package contained a Mickey Mouse plush and the news that her service was being recognized with a trip to Walt Disney World once she returned home. Operation Gratitude’s 4 millionth care package included a Mickey Mouse plush and a card announcing an all-expense paid trip to Walt Disney World for a deployed U.S. service member. Harris had been deployed for months in the region with the 82nd Airborne Division and reported her shock when she learned her fellow soldiers had nominated her to receive this family trip to Walt Disney World. During her 6-month deployment, Harris relied on her mother and Army veteran Jacquline Rice and extended family to watch her children, highlighting the sacrifices some military families make in support of their service to country. Disney World is extending Thanksgiving! Thanksgiving in Disney World (2023) The holiday season is seemingly getting busier and busier at Disney World each year, with the months around Thanksgiving and Christmas becoming the resort’s most crowded and popular time on the calendar. Thanksgiving week 2024 looks like it will be no exception, and Disney is taking a proactive approach to theme park hours in response. According to Walt Disney World’s calendar, three of the resort’s theme parks will have extended hours next week, likely due to heavy crowds and demand. The Magic Kingdom will be open one hour earlier than normal each day of the week at 8:00AM, with Early Entry bumped back an hour to 7:30AM. In addition, the park will be open late as well, closing at 11:00PM on November 25th and 28th (Thanksgiving). The park will still be closing to regular guests at 6:00PM on the 26th, 27th, and 29th for Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party events. ©Disney Animal Kingdom will have extended evening hours from November 24th to the 26th, closing at 7:00PM instead of the park’s usual 6:00PM. ©Disney Hollywood Studios will be opening at 8:30AM on the 25th, a half-hour earlier than normal, with Early Entry beginning at 8:00AM. The park will be closing to regular guests at 7:30PM that evening for Jollywood nights. ©Disney Extra hours aren’t the only sign that Disney World is going to be slammed during Thanksgiving week. Lightning Lane Premier Pass is already sold out for both the Magic Kingdom and Hollywood Studios on November 25th. Disney World is going through A LOT of change. Test Track under construction August 2024 New lands are getting added to Magic Kingdom, Disney’s Hollywood Studios, and Disney’s Animal Kingdom, while other new attractions are replacing current ones in all four parks. Disney is busy bringing new ideas to the parks. One new ride coming to Disney World is a brand-new take on the classic EPCOT ride, Test Track. Reimagined Test Track (or Test Track 3.0) is opening in 2025, and we’re breaking down the concept art Disney has shared to find some clues about what we can expect. Starting with the concept art of the outside of the ride, you may notice some familiarity in the design if you’ve been around long enough to remember World of Motion. World of Motion was the first iteration of what became Test Track (and now the reimagined Test Track). Disney has shared that the new Test Track will take nods from both the previous Test Track and World of Motion and before we even enter the new ride, we can see at least one connection to the original ride. ©Disney Disney has already removed the canopy that had covered the entrance to Test Track, giving the building a big update and bringing it back to its World of Motion days. As you can see in the picture below of World of Motion, there are a lot of similarities in the design for the new Test Track. ©Disney The biggest difference between the World of Motion building design and the new Test Track building is the track that appears to run around the building. This track is the same one that has been used on the previous Test Track variation, which gives us an indication that Disney is planning to use the same (or VERY similar) ride track (more on that later). Test Track Construction September 2024 Another thing we noticed about the building’s exterior is the set of signs for the queue. On the far right is the standby line, and in the middle is the Lightning Lane sign. But what caught our attention was the sign on the very left, which appears to say “Single Riders.” This likely means that Disney is still planning to offer a single-rider line at this new ride, just like the old Test Track! ©Disney Continuing the idea of the ride track being the same, in the concept art below, we can see a similar track to the one we’re used to AND the same ride vehicles Test Track has been using. The vehicles may get some updates, but according to the art, we can likely expect to be in the same cars. ©Disney Another thing that the interior concept art shows is what seems to be a joy ride through a forest with a bright light up ahead. Disney has shared that this new ride will “celebrate today’s innovation while highlighting the past, present, and future.” The bright light off in the distance feels symbolic of the future and some new innovations and technology ideas we may get to see later on in the ride. We’ll just have to wait to see! Test Track cars No official opening date has been announced yet, but we do know that the new ride will debut in 2025. There are going to be five different lands to explore, along with dozens of attractions, restaurants, entertainment offerings, and shops. We know Harry Potter fans are hyped about stepping into the newest addition of the Wizarding World, and today, we got a sneak peek at the upcoming attraction! The Wizarding World of Harry Potter — Ministry of Magic will open with the rest of the park on May 22nd, and it’s going to take you inside the worlds of the Harry Potter and Fantastic Beasts movies. But one of the key features of the land is the new Harry Potter and the Battle at the Ministry ride! ©Universal According to Universal, this will be their most impressive attraction to date, “blending massive incredibly detailed environments, powerful storytelling, unprecedented ride technology and so much more to take guests on an action-packed adventure to witness the trial of the infamous Dolores Umbridge.” You’ll step inside the British Ministry of Magic and explore famous locations from the movies. ©Universal As you enter the Ministry, you’ll travel through the grand Ministry atrium, Dolores Umbridge’s office, other Ministry departments, and more before boarding “magical, omnidirectional lifts” to head to Umbridge’s trial. ©Universal You journey to the British Ministry of Magic from Wizarding Paris, taking the Métro-Floo directly into the Ministry. If you’re going to Disney World for the holiday season, there are quite a few limited-time souvenirs to shop! Say hello to the Santa Sulley Popcorn Bucket — we spotted it in Animal Kingdom during a recent visit. Hey Sulley! Deciding what to wear to Disney World is a lot harder than a lot of people realize. We love Ears!! Even if you’re not setting out to be fashionable per se, you’ll still want to select an outfit that will be comfortable to walk many miles in, and if you DO want to add any Disney flair, it gets a little harder. One of our hardest decisions to make is what ears to wear because, if we’re being honest, ears aren’t always the most comfortable, even if they’re cute as can be. However, if you’re looking for a comfy pair of holiday ears to wear on your upcoming trip, we’ve got just the thing! Peppermint Baublebar Minnie Ears Listen, we’re the first to admit that we wear ears for the outfit even if they leave our heads hurting, but that’s not the case with these adorable Peppermint Baublebar Minnie Ears! They’re so fun! Genuinely, we were able to wear these on our park day, and our heads hurt significantly less than regular Disney ears. We typically start to get a headache 2-3 hours into wearing other ears, but that didn’t happen with these. Not to mention that we absolutely love the quality of them, too, and how much they scream the holiday season! Just look at that bow! Consider this your official warning that continuing to read this post hungry may cause drooling, shaking, and spontaneously booked trips to Disney California Adventure. 2024 Disney California Adventure Festival of Holidays The 2024 Disney California Adventure Festival of Holidays has officially begun at Disneyland Resort, and there are LOTS of things to do. From now through January 6th, 2025, you can devour some tasty eats and drinks, check out unique entertainment, and more. Wondering just what you can eat around the park? Well, we’ve checked out all the food, and now we’re sharing our FULL thoughts of the additional locations apart from the several booths! Aunt Cass Café Over at the Aunt Cass Café, we grabbed the Pumpkin Spice Bread Pudding! It is a new item this year with a graham cracker crust topped with pumpkin cheesecake filling, whipped cream, graham cracker crumble, and an espresso brown sugar sauce. Sounds good, right?! Aunt Cass Festival of Holidays menu It costs $7.49, so let’s see if it’s as good as it sounds! Pumpkin Spice Bread Pudding The bread pudding itself didn’t have a strong pumpkin flavor. There was a nice spice flavor to it with a bit of cinnamon, but the pumpkin was certainly lacking. The texture of the bread pudding was perfect, as is usual at Aunt Cass’s. It was warm and soft. The pumpkin flavor you do get from this treat comes from the filling on top. The espresso brown sugar sauce has a bitter espresso flavor at first, but it’s followed by a warm and sweet brown sugar flavor. All together, the flavors work very well! Pumpkin Spice Bread Pudding Boardwalk Pizza and Pasta Over at the Boardwalk Pizza and Pasta, you’ll find a Holiday Pizza! It comes with roasted turkey, roasted butternut squash, cranberries, arugula, fig jam, and cranberry sauce. Holiday Pizza We grabbed a slice for $9.49! Holiday Pizza We were genuinely surprised by how much we liked this pizza and the combination of toppings! You get a nice smokey flavor from the turkey, which went well with the fig jam and cranberries. It’s a good mix of sweetness from the jam, cranberries, and cranberry sauce and nutty flavor from the butternut squash. Everything together complimented each other beautifully. It was like a Thanksgiving dinner on a pizza! Holiday Pizza slice If this combination intrigues you, we highly suggest giving it a try! Cappucino Cart Over at the Cappuccino Cart, you’ll find a variety of available items. There’s the Peanut Butter Mocha Cold Brew, Peanut Butter Mocha Cocktail, and the Cinnamon Caramel Apple Bundt Cake! Menu at the Cappuccino Cart We grabbed the Cinnamon Caramel Apple Bundt Cake for $7.25. It is drizzled with salted caramel and filled with cream cheese frosting. YUM! Cinnamon Caramel Apple Bundt Cake The bundt cake is a very Christmas-y dessert! You get a sweet cinnamon apple flavor with a hint of caramel in the cake itself. There’s a delicious salty, rich caramel flavor from the drizzle on top, and we got the flavor with almost every bite. It was nice! There wasn’t a lot of cream cheese, so it added a little sweetness, but not too much. It was yummy! Our only problem with this dessert was that it was served chilled. It was still great, but with how dense it is, we think serving it warm would have taken it to another level. But regardless, it was still AMAZING. Churros Near Goofy’s Sky School and Señor Buzz Churros Menu Over at both the churro stand near Goofy’s Sky School and Señor Buzz Churros, you’ll find a festive churro — the Popcorn Tin Churro! Popcorn Tin Churro It has white cheddar popcorn dust and caramel sauce topped with buttered popcorn and costs $7.50. Popcorn Tin Churro This reminds us of kettle corn, thanks to the sweet caramel mixed with the buttery popcorn. You really have to be a fan of caramel to enjoy this churro. The bites with popcorn were fantastic, but any bite without it seemed overwhelming with all the caramel liberally added on top. We wish there was even more popcorn on it, but alas, it’s still a good treat, especially for anyone who really likes caramel. Clarabelle’s Hand-Scooped Ice Cream At Clarabelle’s Hand-Scooped Ice Cream, you’ll find Holiday Confetti Cake with Häagen-Dazs Peppermint Bark Ice Cream, chocolate drizzle, whipped cream, and sprinkles for $6.99. Holiday Confetti Cake Menu sign This treat sounds delicious, but did it live up to its list of ingredients? We found out! Holiday Confetti Cake The cake was fairly dry and a pretty basic cake. There was hardly any chocolate drizzle, so the flavor wasn’t really there. The whipped cream was good, but it definitely turned our mouth blue. However, the peppermint ice cream was the star of the show. It has a VERY strong, minty flavor. If you drink orange juice and then eat this ice cream, you’re in for a rough time. It is that strong of a mint flavor. Holiday Confetti Cake with Häagen-Dazs Peppermint Bark Ice Cream Honestly, there are better options around the festival, so we would suggest trying something else unless you absolutely love peppermint. Corn Dog Castle At Corn Dog Castle, you’ll find the Stuffing Corn Dog for $13.29! Holiday Stuffing Corn Dog The Holiday Stuffing Corn Dog is dipped in seasoned corn batter, fried to a golden brown, and topped with cranberry-mustard sauce. It was really, really good. The breading was perfectly done, and the stuffing inside was really flavorful. The hot dog is still the star, but the stuffing compliments it really well. We surprisingly enjoyed the cranberry sauce on top. They put the right amount on top, and it tasted natural with the stuffing and hot dog. It had a really nice tanginess, which we enjoyed. Holiday Stuffing Corn Dog Overall, we would recommend stopping by to grab this festive corn dog! Smokejumpers Grill For some loaded fries, head over to Smokejumpers Grill! You’ll find Hearty Loaded Fries and a Santa Hat Shake. Smokejumpers full spread First up, the Hearty Loaded Fries! The fries are crinkle-cut fries smothered with sausage country gravy and topped with fried chicken, shredded cheese, and green onions. You can grab them for $8.99. Hearty Loaded Fries These loaded fries were on point! The gravy lived up to the name of the fries and had a hearty flavor. It was like having fries soaked in au jus, flavor-wise. The chicken was just chicken strips cut on top, but the cheese went well with the chicken and gravy. This is a tasty comfort food that is certainly worth the price! It was a comforting, hearty meal! The Santa Hat Shake will cost you $9.29 and is a peppermint shake in a marshmallow and coconut-rimmed cup topped with whipped cream and marshmallows. It certainly looks festive! Santa Hat Shake However, the flavor was lacking in the festivities. The peppermint flavor was really light; it simply just tasted like a vanilla shake. The marshmallow and coconut rim didn’t add to the flavor at all since you’re generally going to drink out of a straw, but the rim was certainly messy. We would opt to just grab the vanilla shake here since it was basically a vanilla shake anyway, and the vanilla shake is cheaper. OVERALL There are lots of great options at this festival! There are some exciting changes coming to Magic Kingdom! Magic Kingdom With big expansions like Villains Land and the upcoming transformation of Tom Sawyer Island and the Rivers of America into two Cars attractions, there are going to be a lot of new offerings to check out in the next several years. But before all of that happens, there will be a new lounge for Disney Vacation Club members! It was announced a while back that Frontierland’s Shootin’ Arcade would close and become a new lounge for DVC members. Since then, we’ve been watching the construction on the former attraction closely, to see if we could get any hints as to what the new lounge will look like. Frontierland Shootin’ Aracade is behind walls now But now, Disney has shared a sneak peek at the space, which will be called McKim’s Mile House. It’s set to be open by the summer of 2025, so those planning trips for the latter part of next year may get to check it out. The concept art features lots of wood decor, several pieces of frontier-inspired art, and a large fireplace. ©Disney In case you’re wondering about the name, a Mile House was a term used during the Gold Rush to mark a building that was a mile from an important destination. Many mile houses were used for stagecoach stops or places to get refreshments. And the name of the building? Likely a homage to Disney Legend Sam McKim, who designed the Disneyland souvenir maps, issued between 1958 and 1964. Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure is a fun-filled 4D ride in EPCOT. Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure The ride is in the France pavilion. As you enter the queue, you get “shrunk” down to rat size. You eventually board the ride on cars shaped like rats like Remy and his family and begin your adventure through Gusto’s restaurant. When we say an adventure, we really mean it! You go for a wild ride dodging carts, mean chefs, and very hot ovens. The ride is a wonderful work of imagineering that involves almost all of your senses. Now, three years after it opened in EPCOT, we’ve noticed a couple of changes! When Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure opened in EPCOT, it had signs and a separate line area for single riders. However, the line has been used VERY sparingly, if at all, in the three years since the ride opened. Single Rider Line sign at Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure When the ride was first opened, it used a Virtual Queue, but that has since gone away, and it now has a standby line and Lightning Lane line only. The standby line is known to get very long throughout the day, so a single-rider line here could be really useful for guests hoping to ride it but don’t want to wait in the regular line. (Single rider lines are never guaranteed to be shorter than the regular standby line, but may often be.) When the ride first opened in 2021, the left-hand side queue was set up for single riders, but it was eventually changed to the Lightning Lane. The left line became the Lightning Lane But now, it appears Disney is officially testing the single-rider line at this ride! You can now enter the Single Rider queue on the left side, the Lightning Lane in the middle, and the Standby line on the right. The single-rider queue is back on the left side! When we went through the single-rider line, we only waited about five minutes before we were boarded onto the ride! The standby line was posted at 55 minutes when we hopped in the single-rider queue. It was practically a walk-on wait! We talked to a Cast Member who said the single-rider testing is going really well, and they expect it to last. But that isn’t a certainty yet. The longest part of our very quick wait Some guests were surprised to see a random, single rider with them in the vehicle, but the other new change helped alleviate that concern! We also spotted new numbers added to the ride vehicles. You are now instructed to line up for a specifically numbered seat when you board the vehicle. This helped riders to clearly see that there are three people per row in the vehicles. So if they have a party of two or four, they can see there are empty spaces available for single riders. New numbers on the vehicles Each spot in the vehicle is clearly marked, and this will likely help with any confusion when someone not in your party joins your ride vehicle. Three riders per row While the single rider line is currently just being tested and may only be temporary, we’ll be keeping an eye out for it to be made permanent. Lightning Lane Premier Pass has reached a MILESTONE! ©Disney When Disney released the Lightning Lane Premier Pass in October, reactions were divided. While some welcomed the newest level of Lightning Lane as a welcome way to skip the lines at the theme parks, others bemoaned the high prices and yet another level of pre-planning. It seems that for now anyway, the debate has been settled by Walt Disney World guests voting with their wallets. According to the Walt Disney World app, Lightning Lane Premier Passes are SOLD OUT for both the Magic Kingdom and Hollywood Studios on November 25th. Lightning Lane Premier Pass prices fluctuate based on date and theme park, with the 25th originally costing $379 per person for the Magic Kingdom and $309 per person at Hollywood Studios, before selling out. ©Disney Lightning Lane Premier Pass, which is currently in a pilot program and only available to guests staying at Disney Deluxe Resort hotels, Disney Deluxe Villa Resorts, and other select hotels, allows each guest who has one one-time entry to each Lightning Lane experience in the selected theme park. Eligible Guests can purchase Lightning Lane Premier Passes up to 7 days before the first day of their hotel stay—for their entire length of stay (up to 14 days)—starting at 7:00AM Eastern Time. TRON Lightcycle / Run Lightning Lane Premier Pass selling out on Monday, November 25th seems to be a sure sign that the new Lightning Lane tier will be exceptionally popular during Disney World’s busiest times. There’s a NEW Disney+ perk that could change the streaming game. ©Marvel For years now, a culture has developed around streaming services — including Disney+ — where people would subscribe to services when a series they wanted to watch was about to premiere — say, Agatha All Along — and then would unsubscribe when the series’ current run ended. However, Disney is now introducing a new feature that gives these types of subscribers another option. Now, Disney+ subscribers will be able to pause their account until they want to reactivate it. According to Disney, the pause “will take effect on the first day of your next billing period, and you can continue streaming until then. Once the pause begins, you will not be charged and you will not have access to any content until the pause ends.” To pause a Disney+ subscription, customers will need to: Log in to your Disney+ account through a computer or mobile browser Select your Profile Select Account Select their Disney+ subscription under Subscription Select Pause Subscription Choose the duration of the pause Select Pause Subscription When the un-pause date is reached, your account will reactivate and a new billing cycle will begin. If you were to pause your subscription and wish to unpause earlier than initially planned, you can do so by selecting “Resume Subscription” on your Disney+ account management page. When you select this option, you will be billed immediately, starting a new billing period. ©Disney Of note, those who purchase the Disney Bundle will also see pauses on the other streaming services that are part of the bundle. In addition, the pause would also affect any “Extra Members” on the account. Said members will then “see a message when trying to stream content and can view the pause status in their account settings.” ©Disney If you’re the type of Disney+ subscriber who only wishes to use the service to watch new shows or films you can now do so without needing to cancel and launch a new account every season thanks to the new pause option. Stroll across Disney Springs to see the entire collection of beautifully decorated Christmas trees celebrating some Disney, Pixar, Star Wars and Super Hero favorites. As you stroll through Disney Springs to discover more trees, be sure to look and see which ones have interactions you can engage with MagicBand+ experiences presented by Luxury of Time by Diamonds International. In between taking advantage of these new and enhanced holiday offerings, don’t forget to savor the delicious treats and seasonal entertainment throughout Disney Springs. Between the Toy Soldier Stilt Walkers, Roller Blading Snowflakes and Brass Brand, there is seasonal flair around every corner. My personal favorite way to end my day of holiday shopping at Disney Springs is by enjoying one of the nightly “snow” flurries at the Town Center Christmas tree and tasting the new and returning items at Jock Lindsey’s Holiday Bar. 2025 is less than two months away — it’s time to BOOK those trips! Art of Animation You may think that your chosen Disney World hotel will have plenty of availability months in advance, but that’s not the case for some more popular Disney World travel dates. In fact, we’ve seen certain types of hotel rooms at select hotels sell out MONTHS in advance, especially at Value Resorts or hotels with a limited number of certain types of rooms. If you’re planning a trip during any of these 2025 dates, you’ll want to book them ASAP! January Starting off strong with one of the most popular holidays in Disney World, which also happens to be the one coming up in less than 2 months, we have New Year’s Day! If you’re planning to stay on property ANYWHERE in Disney World for New Year’s Day, you’ll need to book that reservation immediately after you finish reading this post. Trust us, you don’t want to wait until the VERY last minute, and we’re getting real close to that. Stormalong Bay Later on in the month we have the Walt Disney World Marathon Weekend, which takes place from January 8th-12th. ©Disney runDisney race weekends are not only wildly busy in the parks, but since the races start so early, many participants choose to stay on property to make their transportation easier. February At the tail end of January into February, we have the National Dance Team Championships from January 31st through February 2nd. Now, this one you’ll really want to look out for if you’re planning to stay at a Disney World Value Resort, especially the All-Stars since many teams choose to stay there to save as much money as possible. Those rooms will fill up fast, and expect to see the hotels busier (and potentially louder) than normal! ESPN Wide World of Sports You’ll also want to watch out for another runDisney race, the Disney Princess Half Marathon Weekend from February 20th-24th. ©runDisney Just like other races, hotels and parks will be busy! April Right at the beginning of April we have the runDisney Springtime Surprise Weekend from April 3rd-6th! The same note as other races applies, BUT you’ll want to be extra careful here, because on top of race crowds you’ll be dealing with spring break crowds. These hotels will be BUSY — book your room right now so you don’t miss out! ©runDisney And from April 25th-28th, right when most spring break crowds are gone, Cheerleading Worlds moves into Disney World. ©The Cheerleading Worlds Again, you’ll really want to watch Value Resort hotel bookings for this one! July While 4th of July is busy in Disney World, we don’t anticipate hotels being too sold out. Instead, you’ll want to watch out for the World Dance Competition happening from July 9th-14th! ESPN Wide World of Sports You guessed it — the Value Hotels will be the most likely to sell out here, but it may push other guests to stay at moderate or deluxe hotels, meaning those rooms could sell out too! November We also really want to warn you that you’ll want to make your Thanksgiving Week reservations at the latest halfway through 2025. For 2025, we’re counting Thanksgiving Week as Sunday, November 23rd through Sunday, November 29th. Thanksgiving in Disney World (2023) People plan these vacations EARLY, so you’ll want to do the same to be prepared and get the room you’d like. December You likely won’t be surprised to hear that we have Christmas Week on here as well — it’s such a holly jolly, beautiful time of the year, you won’t want to miss booking your hotel reservation to see all the gorgeous decorations! For 2025, we’re considering Christmas Week as Sunday, December 21st through Saturday, December 27th. Christmas Day at Disney World in 2023 Just a few days later, you’ll also want to make sure you’ve got your reservation for New Year’s Eve, December 31st, booked as well. A lot of people want to spend the last day of the year in Disney World, so grab that reservation sooner rather than later. New Year’s Eve Crowds! While the date for Mickey’s birthday changed several times, November 18th is the date determined, and that has become accepted as his and Minnie’s birthdays. Other dates that were considered were October 1st, the day Walt first began drawing Mickey, as well as the dates when he debuted in his first and second films, Plane Crazy and The Gallopin’ Gaucho, both of which were never distributed. Thus, Walt Disney Archives founder Dave Smith determined the public premiere of Steamboat Willie to be the couple’s official birthday. Now, every year on this day, a special surprise occurs in Disney World to mark the momentous occasion. This is a very special and extremely hidden detail that Disney fans love to see each year! If you happen to be in Magic Kingdom on November 18th some year, make sure you visit the ride queue to check it out yourself. Drink up, me hearties! A new Pirates of the Caribbean tavern is coming to Magic Kingdom and we’re looking forward to coming ashore for some grub. An all-new lounge themed to Pirates of the Caribbean will open at Magic Kingdom in 2025. ©Disney So far, Disney hasn’t shared too many details about what we can expect from this new lounge, but we do know it will serve drinks and some light bites. What sort of drinks and light bites remains to be seen, but there is one Disney restaurant that might give us an idea! At Captain Jack’s at Disneyland Paris, you’ll dive into a pirate’s feast of exotic seafood and Creole cooking in this bustling tavern on the shores of a torch-lit lagoon — and we’re hoping we’ll get to dive into some similarly themed eats at the new Pirates of the Caribbean lounge coming to Magic Kingdom! ©Disney The brand-new Pirates of the Caribbean lounge is a first-of-its-kind experience that “will extend the story of Pirates of the Caribbean.” Disney has shared a few looks at concept art for this new space, and we’re excited for it to open sometime in 2025. There are some items on the menu at Captain Jack’s that we’re hoping make their way to the new Pirates lounge. ©Disney It’s a primarily Creole and Caribbean-inspired menu, and we think that would translate well to the Magic Kingdom bar. It will likely only serve light bites, but that doesn’t mean we can’t hope for some more substantial dishes. We’re also expecting some alcohol to be served here, but that hasn’t been confirmed yet either. The Cod Fritters and Fried Cassava with Tamarind Sauce and Creole Cabbage Salad from the appetizers menu sound incredible — as does the White Tuna Ceviche. ©Disney As far as entrées go, the Vegetable Curry sounds delicious — it’s served with lentils and plantains. The Oven-Baked Mahi-Mahi Fish Steak with Coconut Sauce and Bell Peppers would be an upscale option that we likely won’t see at this spot — but we can dream! ©Disney Desserts include Island-Style Rice Pudding with Mango Purée, Exotic Fruit Soup, a Tonka Bean Flavoured Chocolate Tart, and Shortbread with Roasted Pineapple and Bourbon-Vanilla Whipped Cream. ©Disney While we’re still not totally sure what kind of eats and drinks will be available at the new Pirates tavern, we know we’ll be checking them out as soon as we can! It’s pretty obvious we can’t WAIT for the new Pirates of the Caribbean tavern to open at Disney World and we know you can’t either — so we’ll be on the lookout for any additional announcements we can get! If you’re planning your next vacation, you might be trying to decide which airline to use. Orlando International Airport There are so many options out there these days, from budget airlines to more luxury offerings, and they all come with different amenities, rules, and flight times. If you’re looking to fly on the cheap, one of the most popular choices is Spirit Airlines…but now they’ve run into some problems. According to CNBC, Spirit Airlines has filed for bankruptcy protection after “years of mounting losses, a failed merger, and more demanding consumer tastes.” Spirit announced early Monday that it had reached a prearranged deal with its bondholders that includes $300 million in debtor-in-possession financing to help the company through the bankruptcy. Spirit Airlines at Orlando Airport Spirit expects to exit the bankruptcy in the first quarter of next year, saying that vendors and aircraft lessors will not be impaired. In a court filing, the company has listed its assets and liabilities between $1 billion and $10 billion. Currently, Spirit Airlines plans to continue operating, and customers can continue to book tickets. ©Spirit “The most important thing to know is that you can continue to book and fly now and in the future,” Spirit CEO Ted Christie said in a letter to customers on Monday. Tickets, credits, and loyalty points can be used as normal right now, even though Spirit will be delisted from the New York Stock Exchange as a result of the filing. ©Spirit Airlines In recent times, Spirit has struggled with an engine recall that grounded dozens of jets, higher costs after the pandemic, and a failed acquisition of JetBlue Airways.
