You’ve decided to go, you’ve saved your money… now what? Well, you’ve come to the right place. Disney is kinda our obsession and after 15 years of the DisneyFoodBlog being around, we’ve learned a thing or two. First thing to know, this doesn’t have to be stressful! Magic Kingdom To help ease your stress, our ultimate tip we can give is to use Small World Vacations! Small World Vacations has so many experienced agents who are here to help you with whatever you need for your Disney vacation. These agents monitor your reservation for possible future savings and compare discounts to figure out which one works best for your travel party, dates, resort, and touring plans. Best of all? These services are free of charge to you! You have a Disney expert at your fingertips, ready to help get you the best deals, all for free. Talk about a stress relief! Utilizing Small World Vacations is the first step in our trip planning and you should consider making it your first step too. Spaceship Earth Once you’ve realized you don’t have to be stressed, planning gets much easier from here. If it’s your first time going to Disney World, you should first consider when you’re going. There are pros and cons to every season of travel. January to early March is one of our preferred times because of the chill weather and lower crowds thanks to schools starting back. Mid-March to May is when Spring has sprung and although there are some Spring Break crowds, the weather is still mild. EPCOT International Flower and Garden Festival 2024 June to August is when the summer heat kicks in but this is the most convenient time for lots of families thanks to summer break! Finally, August to December is when the holidays kick in at Disney World! Halloween and Christmas decor is up (for the most part) and it’s a very magical time. Christmas in Hollywood Studios You can’t go wrong with any of these times in Disney, you just have to decide. There are things to consider like EPCOT festivals, After Hours Events, and crowds. Luckily we’ve written an entire breakdown of the best times to go in 2025 right here. Once you’ve chosen your date, the budget is next! There is so much to buy! Disney World can be pretty pricey if you aren’t careful so this is a super important step if you want to go on vacation without spending your life savings. We aren’t even kidding, you could do that in Disney World if you really wanted to. You need to consider costs like tickets, hotels, food and drinks, merchandise, parking fees (if you aren’t staying at a Disney resort), and lightning lane multipasses. Seven Dwarfs Mine Train Lightning Lane Some add-ons could change your pricing like the Disney Dining Plan and other options like a payment plan. We’ve broken down roughly how much a Disney Vacation in 2025 will cost you right here. Once you know how much you’re willing to spend, you can start deciding on your hotel! Polynesian Village Resort This is a great time to utilize your Small World Vacation agent. There are so many Disney resorts, sometimes it’s just nice for someone else to give you the highlights so you can make the easiest choice. There are over 25 Disney hotels to choose from and they are ranked on a scale of Value Resorts, Moderate Resorts, and Deluxe Resorts. Grand Floridian Value Resorts are the most affordable, Moderate Resorts are a step above, and Deluxe Resorts are where the real money comes into play. Things to consider when choosing a hotel are price, themeing, transportation options, and food options. Every resort has something different so it’s important to keep in mind the things you care about and not just what the internet tells you to care about. Hopefully, it’s not a surprise that we’ve written a definitive ranking of all of the Disney World hotels! Art of Animation! If you’re going all in, you can also purchase your tickets through a Disney Vacation package which lumps your tickets and hotel together. There are several deals that you can get by utilizing a Disney vacation package that your Small World Vacations agents can alert you to. One deal that is running at the time of writing is Free Disney Dining so make sure to see what you qualify for. ©Disney Now you’ve got your dates, your budget, your tickets, and your resort! You’re at the base level of being ready to head to Disney World. Your countdown is on and the vacation is finally happening. The only other major thing to consider before getting there is how much you want to plan. Do you want to have every second scheduled? Do you want to have no schedule at all? Well, that’s up to you. Don’t let the crowds get to you! We find that planning in the middle is our best approach. Making a priority list but knowing that things might go awry is the best place to be mentally before heading down. This is where the most fun parts start. Deciding which rides you want to ride, snacks you want to eat, and ears you want to buy is where the best parts come in. We love Ears!! So now all you need to do is get your ride and show priority lists started and your snack list written down. Don’t forget that the easiest way to plan any Disney trip is through the help of Small World Vacations. Let them do the heavy lifting so you can enjoy your Disney World vacation to the fullest. Red Dye No. 3 is a food additive you’ll find in foods like candy, baking decorations, frostings, cookies, toaster pastries, and more. Be My Valentine Sweet Treat Bag However, the additive has been under fire for some time, and in 2023, the state of California actually banned the use of Red Dye No. 3 in foods sold in that state. Now, that ban has extended to the entirety of the U.S. CNN reports that the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has officially banned the additive from all food, drinks, and ingested drugs sold in the country. Red Dye No. 3’s chemical name, erythrosine, is made from petroleum and is often used to give foods and drinks a bright red color. Previous scientific research on the chemical shows a link to cancer in animals. In 2022, multiple organizations and people petitioned for a federal ban, which follows the California ban. Ice Cream Sandwich Food and drink manufacturers have until January 15th, 2027 to come up with other options for their products without the dye. Likewise, manufacturers of ingested drugs have until January 18th, 2028 to comply with the ban. The ban also applies to food imported into the U.S. Some companies have already phased out the use of the product in their products, including Ferrara, which makes Brach’s candies, which began phasing out the use of Red Dye No. 3 in 2023. The manufacturer of Peeps, Just Born, stopped using the additive after Easter 2024. Some companies use Red Dye No. 40 instead, which is considered a healthier alternative and has not been associated with cancer in animals. Stay tuned to DFB for more. We are HUGE fans of the Haunted Mansion, and yes, we LOVE the OG Haunted Mansion in Disneyland. Disneyland’s Haunted Mansion Now, this version of Haunted Mansion recently got a bit of an update with a completely new queue area that is SO cool. It also got a new gift shop called Madame Leota’s Somewhere Beyond (and, well, we’re still not sure how we feel about that gift shop). Now, though a new Haunted Mansion souvenir has dropped and if you love Haunted Mansion as much as we do, you’re going to want to grab it! Okay, so here’s the deal. Haunted Mansion gets a Nightmare Before Christmas overlay during the fall and winter season called Haunted Mansion Holiday. That overlay ends in January, though, so Haunted Mansion closes so the overlay can be removed and the ride can go back to its original version. This year, that’s happening right now, and the Haunted Mansion will reopen on January 18th. To celebrate the reopening, a new Haunted Mansion souvenir, the Bride Sipper, has been released. Haunted Mansion Bride Sipper Okay, so this sipper already looks super cool right, what with the beating heart and all. Well, what if we told you that you can HEAR that heart beating? Yep, it’s got sound effects. SO COOL. The back Not only that, but her face, candelabra, and heart also light up. Okay, this could be the coolest Haunted Mansion souvenir we’ve seen in a while. It lights up! If you want to get your hands on this beauty, it’s available now for $35 at The Golden Horseshoe, Stage Door Cafe, and Harbour Galley. You’ll probably want to grab her quickly — we have a feeling she’ll sell out fast. Stay tuned to DFB for more. We LOVE Bluey around here. The Heeler family is always up to something fun and creative, and now it’s time for us to play along, too! Back in December, Disney announced that Bluey is coming to Disney World, Disneyland, and the Disney Cruise Line. It’s all happening sooner than you might think, too! ©Disney Back on January 10th, Bluey and Bingo made their debut on the Disney Cruise Line! You can find these characters onboard Disney Cruise Line sailings originating from Australia and New Zealand. These sisters will be available for character meet-and-greets and even an interactive game and dance party. But now that you can find Bluey at sea, when is she coming to Disney World? According to Disney’s most recent statement, Bluey and her family will arrive in Disney World “in the months ahead.” At this time, we’re still waiting for more details on this major addition, but we expect the characters to arrive sometime in 2025. Bluey and Bingo Disney has not revealed the park where Bluey and her family will be located, but we have a few strong guesses. Over in EPCOT, the Imagination Pavilion has two empty character meet-and-greet locations — one by the exit of Journey into Imagination with Figment and one in the Pixar Short Film Festival building. This area is empty now Bluey and Bingo could also meet in the Disney Jr. Character meet-and-greet section of the park near Launch Bay. We could see a meet-and-greet here, too! This addition comes as part of a major expansion of Disney’s relationship with BBC Studios. The partnership includes the global theatrical rights for the recently announced Bluey movie, set to premiere in 2027. After its theatrical release, the movie will stream on Disney+. Josh D’Amaro, Chairman, Disney Experiences said, “Bluey has become a household name for families around the world and we are thrilled to bring her story to life in new ways. We can’t wait to watch our youngest guests and their families make memories with Bluey in our parks and on our cruises.” ©Bluey Bluey was one of the most-watched series on Disney+ globally, with more than 50.5 billion minutes watched on the streaming service, according to Disney. We’ll be sure to look for additional updates, but for now, the only way to see Bluey is to book a Disney Cruise. Are you planning a trip to Disney World? Flying to Disney World While I’m sure you’re busy dreaming of Cinderella Castle, DOLE Whips, and other treats, don’t forget that airlines have their own set of “challenges” when ferrying guests to the Most Magical Place on Earth. From handling oversized souvenirs to keeping tiny travelers happy, here are three things airlines wish you’d stop doing (and what to do instead) to keep your journey as smooth as possible. Lightsabers and Other Galaxy’s Edge Souvenirs We get it. Your lightsaber from Savi’s Workshop is practically a family heirloom at this point. But before you bring it on your flight, make sure you know your airline’s policies. Some carriers may let you carry it on (it’s usually considered oversized), while others might require you to check it. Do a little research to avoid any surprises at the airport. Savi’s Workshop lightsaber pieces To that point, do you remember those iconic, round Coca-Cola bottles from Galaxy’s Edge? While they make cool souvenirs, they’ve been flagged as potential TSA no-gos in the past due to their “grenade-like” shape. So, no matter what your souvenir is, before you try to pack it, just do a quick double-check of the latest TSA rules to ensure that your unique Disney World treasure doesn’t get left behind at security. Coca-Cola Thermal Detonators It also doesn’t hurt to call your airline or check their website for specific baggage rules about unique items like lightsabers or large souvenirs, and if you’re unsure, it’s always better to pack them safely in checked luggage than risk losing them. Souvenir Balloons Ah, Disney souvenir balloons. They’re bright, shiny, and perfect for a photo op. But when it comes to air travel, they’re not as fun for flight crews. Fully inflated balloons take up space, can’t fit under seats or in overhead bins, and, let’s be honest, can be quite a hassle on a crowded plane. Balloons on Main Street That being said, there’s good news! You don’t have to leave your balloon behind! Many Disney balloons are designed to be deflated and then re-inflated later. Just ask a cast member at Disney before you leave the parks, and they’ll show you how to prepare it for travel. This way, your souvenir balloon can keep bringing you magic long after your vacation ends. Group Seating Chaos If you’re traveling with kids or a big group, seating can really turn into a game of Tetris if you’re not prepared. While airlines try their best to keep families together, the reality of it is that seating arrangements are often set during booking. Waiting until check-in (or worse, boarding) to figure it out can lead to a lot of unnecessary stress for you and your fellow passengers. ©Delta As I’m sure you already know, when you’re flying with kids, preparing beforehand is everything. Make sure to bring headphones, snacks, coloring books, or their favorite small toys to keep them entertained during the flight. Yes, kids will be kids, and no one expects them to sit quietly the entire time, but a little planning goes a long way in keeping everyone happier in those tight quarters. ©Southwest So remember, book early to snag seats together, if you’re flying an airline with open seating, consider paying for early boarding, and if things don’t go as planned, politely ask the gate agent or a flight attendant for help. They’ll usually try to assist if they can. Are you flying to Disney World? Until then, make sure to stay tuned to DFB for more. 64 Disney employees have lost their homes to the California wildfires, while hundreds more have been evacuated, according to The New York Times. The Walt Disney Company headquarters in California Those who have been evacuated included the Walt Disney Company CEO Bob Iger, who is now overseeing relief efforts for those within the company. From a hotel room, Iger has approved $15 million for “community services and rebuilding efforts.” The company is arranging for those who have lost their homes to get free furnished housing for two months, along with opening the studio wardrobe warehouse to employees who need clothes. CEO Bob Iger ©Disney Mr. Iger has also been personally calling those employees who have lost their homes to check in with them. “I want them to know that people at the top of the company are looking after them, that we care,” said Mr. Iger. “We’re going to go through some really tough times here, but we’ll get through it together.” Via @robertiger on Instagram As far as movie production goes, the company hasn’t seen a significant impact due to the fires. The Burbank studio luckily didn’t see any fire, while the Pixar and Lucasfilm studios are both located in Northern California, away from the wildfires. However, 20th Century Studio, owned by Disney, saw two productions halt, The Hand That Rocks the Cradle and Avatar: Fire and Ash. ©Disney These relief efforts come as many people in Southern California have lost their homes or have been evacuated due to the wildfires raging through the area. Disney World has been around for over 50 years. Magic Kingdom With those 53 years, there have been so many changes like losing fan-favorite lands, brand new lands, and more. There have also been plenty of rumors that we decided it’s time to answer if they’re myths or magic! There are so many myths surrounding the most magical place on earth that we won’t even be able to break them all down in one post! We chose the 10 most frequent myths we hear over and over and decided it’s time to put these to rest! Tattoos Are Banned Starting off, one myth we hear time and time again is tattoos are banned in Disney World! Tiana’s Bayou Adventure Cast Members If you don’t know, there is a dress code for Cast Members in Disney World! When Disney Cast Members begin working with the company, they’re given access to the Disney Look Book. This lookbook has all of the guidelines of what you can, and cannot, wear or have on your body while working. This is referred to as the “Disney Look” which Walt Disney did have a hand in creating for Disneyland way back in 1959. For many years, Cast Members were not allowed to have visible tattoos at all, hence how this rumor got started. That all changed in 2021 however! ©Disney As of these changes, Cast Members can now show tattoos that are appropriate meaning there can be no nudity, offensive or inappropriate language, and it must be an appropriate image as well. They also cannot be too large and cannot be on the Cast Member’s face, head, or neck. Cast Member Tattoo! This has been a really neat change and was all related to Disney’s new inclusivity programs that Josh D’Amaro, Disney’s Chairman of Disney Parks, Experiences, and Products, said was focused on “creating a place where everyone is welcome and taking action to create meaningful change.” As Disney Parks fans, we have thought it’s a really cool change to see Cast Members express their interests and personalities a little bit more in subtle ways. Another Cast Member tattoo This change also brought about changes to hairstyles, jewelry, nail styles, and costume choices when it was instituted. So what was once true about tattoos in Disney World is now a myth! Cast Members Can’t Say No Another Cast member-related myth is that Disney employees can’t say no! While it’s true that Disney Cast Members are encouraged and trained to the highest level of customer service, it doesn’t mean they can’t tell you no. Be nice to Cast Members! For example, if a ride is closed for any reason and you ask a Cast Member to hop in line, they will politely tell you the line isn’t available at the time and to explore other attractions around the parks. What does that mean? It’s a very nice way of saying no! Disney Cast Members make the parks as special as they are and, unfortunately, that sometimes means telling you no but, remember, be kind to Cast Members. Thank you Cast Members! The rides you’re riding, the snacks you’re eating, and the shows that make you cry are all thanks to these wonderful employees. So if they’re telling you no, respect that! At the end of the day, they’re just doing their jobs just like you’ve done so many times before too. There’s A Weather Dome! Our next myth is one we wish was true! For many years, it was rumored that there was a dome over the Disney parks and that the Disney Company could control the weather. Let us and our soggy tennis shoes tell you, that this is simply not true. Rainy day in Magic Kingdom There are so many rainy days, face-melting heat waves, and even random cold waves throughout the winter weeks. Yes, we said weeks, winter is very short in Orlando. In the summertime, you can expect the usual afternoon rain shower that lasts for very brief periods before it’s back to being muggy Florida! Storms at Magic Kingdom We actually appreciate those summer rain storms as a break from the heat and it often takes a lot of people back to their resorts so less crowds for us! We truly wish there was a weather dome over Disney World and maybe we wouldn’t have so many sticky fingers from all of our melted ice cream. So melty but so tasty The dome might be a myth but here’s to hoping it becomes a reality. Cinderella Castle Can Be Taken Down Another weather-related myth is that Cinderella Castle in Magic Kingdom can be taken down because of hurricanes. As cool as that would be, it’s not true. Cinderella Castle Cinderella Castle is built to withstand the weather! When Disney World was being built, Disney Imagineers were aware of Florida’s rather erratic weather patterns thanks to hurricane season so they built the Magic Kingdom icon with those in mind. The castle is secured firmly to the ground and is made of steel, fiberglass, concrete, plaster, plastic, and aluminum. You read that right, no bricks! A rainy day in Magic Kingdom The castle is built to withstand at least 110 miles per hour winds so we think she’ll be okay during the hurricane seasons. Not every bit of Disney World is built as tough as the castle though so during weather warnings you’ll see many things tied down and closed for safety. CMs prepping for Hurricanes Maybe if Disney World ever constructs that dome we won’t have to worry about the hurricanes anymore! Magic Kingdom Is A Dry Park Our next myth is Magic Kingdom-specific! Many people believe that you can’t get alcohol in Magic Kingdom and that isn’t necessarily true. Unlike EPCOT, Animal Kingdom, and Hollywood Studios, it is true that you can’t just walk up to a bar, grab a drink, and then mosey around the theme park. You can however find adult beverages in the flagship park! Be Our Guest Private Label Wine Sampler Magic Kingdom was a dry park until the New Fantasyland expansion in 2012! This expansion brought us Seven Dwarfs Mine Train, Under the Sea: the Journey of the Little Mermaid, Be Our Guest Restaurant, and more. Along with those came beer and wine! Now you can get beer, wine, and cocktails at all of the table services in Magic Kingdom. Royal Breakfast Flight at Cinderella’s Royal Table This is a great way to relax and rest while enjoying a quick drink inside some air conditioning. It remains true that alcohol is a bit more difficult to get in Magic Kingdom but not impossible! The Kid’s Menu Is Just For Kids More food-related myths coming up! Another problem we see in the parks is that many people believe adults can’t order kids’ meals! Kids meal in EPCOT! Anyone, no matter their age, can order from the kid’s menu if they choose to! This is a great budgeting and money-saving tip if you’re looking for some inexpensive options. This is also a great way to look for healthier meals and focus on portion control if you’re looking to do that on your vacation. Chicken and Vegetables with Pasta You can even order from the kid’s menu at table service restaurants as well but be warned you will still be charged as an adult at many locations so make sure to check with your server before ordering from the kid’s menu. Make Dining Reservations Months In Advance Food myths are kind of our bread and butter. (Get it? Food joke? Sorry.) Another major myth in Disney World is that you need dining reservations months in advance! This can be true for more popular dining options like Cinderella’s Royal Table or Topollino’s Terrace, but it isn’t always the case. Topolino’s Dinner If you’re ready for some last-minute dining or easy walk-up options, there are two ways to do that at Disney. The first is our preferred and it’s using lounges! Lounges in Disney World are connected to many of our favorite table service restaurants so you can get the best food on a first come, first serve basis. The Brown Derby Lounge Some of our favorites are the Brown Derby Lounge, the Steakhouse 71 Lounge, and Nomad Lounge. The second way is to get on the walk-up waitlist list! ©Disney You can join the walk-up list in the app as well! The walk-up list has gotten us into wonderful restaurants with no reservations! These are also first come first serve and will fill up so don’t rely on them entirely but they can be a great hack. You Can’t Bring In Your Own Food And Drinks Did you know you can bring your own food and drinks to the Disney parks? It’s true! This is a great way to save money if you’re balling on a budget around the theme parks. There are some stipulations though. Collapsible water bottle You cannot bring alcohol, or anything in a glass container, it cannot require a refrigerator or microwave, and cannot have any strong oders. Other than that, you can bring in your own water bottles, sandwiches, and sodas to help cut down on that Disney cost. The Food Isn’t Good Anymore There have been many discussions that the food isn’t as good in Disney World anymore and that it’s only pretty for pictures. It’s true that some foods are mainly for Instagram, and, unfortunately, we are looking at you Mickey Pretzel. Mickey Pretzel This pretzel is a great example of loving what something looks like but knowing it isn’t the best quality you’re going to find. If you’re looking at all of the food in the parks though, this is overall more of a myth than a reality. There are so many amazing foods in Disney World if you just know where to look! Barbecue Baked Macaroni and Cheese with Pulled Pork From the pulled pork macaroni and cheese in Animal Kingdom to the Spring Rolls in Magic Kingdom, there are plenty of truly delicious snacks in the parks. Not everything is worth your money so we compiled a list of the best dishes for 2025 right here. Disney World Planning Is Too Hard The final myth we’re breaking down today is Disney World planning is too hard! It’s true there is a lot to know, budget, and plan for but did you know you don’t have to do it all on your own? Small World Vacations have been saving guests money since 1996 and are ready to help you save some money too! They can take all of the stress out of planning your next vacation, free of charge! The Orange parking garage at Disney Springs will be undergoing refurbishment in the coming months. Orange parking garage There are three parking garages at Disney Springs for easy parking and access to the shopping and dining district. However, the Orange garage will have less availability for the near future. We stopped by the Orange garage at Disney Springs and noticed that orange cones were blocking off several of the levels. This level is not currently available When we visited with Guest Services Cast Members, they let us know that levels 3 through 5 are currently closed for general refurbishment, and level 2 will also be included eventually. Level 1 will be the only level to remain open throughout the refurbishment. The refurbishment is expected to last from now until March 11th. Orange garage was closed These levels being closed will greatly impact the number of parking spots available in the Orange garage. Other parking options at Disney Springs include the Lime and Grapefruit parking garages and the Watermelon parking lot. You can also take buses, boats, and ride-share vehicles to Disney Springs instead of driving yourself. Disney Springs parking Disney Springs is the shopping and dining district of Disney World. You can find lots of great food and fun souvenirs all around the district. From the large World of Disney store to Lululemon to Pandora, there are tons of places to shop. We also enjoy dining at the many restaurants available here and grabbing snacks at the carts and kiosks. You may also find a variety of entertainment offerings here throughout the year. Disney Springs As you visit Disney Springs from now through March, be on the lookout for parking somewhere other than the Orange parking garage. Levels 2 through 5 will be undergoing refurbishment in the Orange parking garage, limiting the number of available parking spots there. For more Disney news, keep following DFB! If you were hoping to spot some sea creatures in EPCOT, we have some bad news. This pavilion is a bit of a construction zone right now, and we recently spotted some important changes involving the manatees who will call this place their home. The Seas with Nemo and Friends On January 14th, The Seas with Nemo & Friends closed at 7 PM for maintenance. When we stopped by to see what Disney has planned, we learned that Disney plans to bring new friends to the pavilion in the near future. During a recent visit to EPCOT, we confirmed that the manatee exhibit was blocked, and there were large construction walls nearby. The display is blocked for now According to a Cast Member, the manatees that once lived here were moved to another facility in Florida. We also learned that Disney Cast Members have been doing some animal rehabilitation backstage, and they hope to bring some new manatees to The Seas Pavilion soon. In fact, when the new manatees arrive, Cast Members hope to rehabilitate the animals and move away from the long-term care we’ve seen here before; manatees that need extra care will likely go to a place like SeaWorld, which is better equipped for extensive care. But first, Disney must take care of the construction and routine maintenance next to the tank. There are a LOT of construction walls in the area If you’ve been to The Seas Pavilion recently, you may have noticed that the escalator was not operational. Well, Disney is finally working on the escalator and has installed large construction walls around the escalators. Fingers crossed that this is fixed quickly! Once this general maintenance is complete, Cast Members hinted that Disney will be able to focus on some other closed activities, like the DiveQuest program. Disney previously stated that the experience should return this spring. More construction walls Back in 2024, Disney relocated its three dolphins to the Gulfarium Marine Adventure Park in Fort Walton Beach. In the meantime, we’re always on the lookout for the latest Disney news, so stay tuned for more. Learn more about the closures here! Over the past few years, Disney has added a new virtual assistant tool to all its hotel rooms called Hey, Disney!. The Hey, Disney! device is powered by Amazon Alexa, so it works the same as most smart home devices but with a little extra Disney magic. While this technology is free to use, not everyone is interested in Disney’s voice assistant experience. Bed at Port Orleans Resort — French Quarter In order for Hey, Disney! to work, the device must listen for the special “wake words.” This prompts the question, when is Hey, Disney! listening? We’re here to break it all down. If you opt to keep the Hey, Disney! microphone turned on during your stay in a Disney World hotel, the device will technically listen for as long as it is turned on. Disney explains that the Hey, Disney! device will only respond to your questions when the device detects that someone has said “Hey Disney” or “Alexa” (the “wake words”). “Hey, Disney!” Then, once the device hears your question or request, “it will listen to your request and send it to Amazon for processing in the cloud.” But the only way for the device to hear those “wake words” is for the device to sit and listen for someone to say “Hey Disney” or “Alexa.” Hey, Disney! If the blue bar on top of the device lights up, that means Hey, Disney! is listening. You can also use the touch screen to “wake” the device. Room Phone and “Hey Disney!” So, what happens if you do NOT want Hey, Disney! to listen? It’s easy! There is a microphone button on the top of the device, and all you have to do is turn it off. If you see a red bar, you will know the microphone is muted. You can mute and unmute it at any time using the ⊘ button. Disney also states that if you have any other questions or concerns, you can call the Front Desk. Start and Volume Control Buttons Further, if you make a request via Hey, Disney! (you can use the device to request extra towels, pillows, and more!), Amazon will send your requests (but not the voice recordings) to Disney. At the Polynesian Resort Don’t forget, Hey, Disney! is completely optional! Just don’t forget to mute the device if you don’t want any assistance from Alexa. In the meantime, we’re always on the lookout for the latest Disney news, so stay tuned for more. You Can Have Your Own “Hey, Disney!” at Home — Here’s How! If you’ve been a Disney fan for over three and a half decades, then you’ll remember one of the most iconic versions of Cinderella Castle the world has ever seen. Cinderella Castle For Disney’s 25th Anniversary, Disney decorated the Magic Kingdom park icon to look like a giant cake to celebrate the anniversary and well…it certainly was a sight to see. Since then, Disney has been poked about their bold choice by many different companies, but one of the most common has been Orlando International Airport (MCO). And now, thanks to the year being 2025, they’ve done it again! Commenters are really enjoying the fun poke at the park, and we find it totally fitting since it’s also the 25th year of the the 2000s! One commenter even shared that the company should cover it with toilet paper next time to mimic the time Stitch covered the castle in the bathroom essential, and MCO replied with, “On a scale of 1-10, we give this idea a 626. Here for it. ” It was definitely a sight to behold! We always enjoy seeing the fun ideas Disney comes up with for special events, anniversaries, and everything in between, and are looking forward to seeing what’s next! More Recent Disney News! We are Disney Food Blog, and we have made it our job to want to lead you toward the best possible dining options during your trip. Sci-Fi Dine-In Theatre Restaurant However…we’ll also be honest and tell you when a restaurant really wouldn’t be worth your time, because we don’t want you to spend a ton of money on a meal and then come out disappointed. So we’ve done some hard thinking, and these are the restaurants we really think you should skip this year. Be Our Guest Restaurant Over in Magic Kingdom, you’ll find Be Our Guest — a table service restaurant that allows you to dine in the Beast’s Castle from Beauty and the Beast? Stunning? Absolutely? And we’d even go as far as saying it’s a must-do for die-hard Beauty and the Beast fans…but other than that, we really don’t recommend. Be Our Guest The truth is that this spot is EXPENSIVE — as expensive as character dining meals are around the resort (and even more expensive than a few of those), and while you’re definitely paying for the atmosphere and experience, this ISN’T a character dining meal. You’ll see the Beast for a second and get to wave from afar, but that’s it. Be Our Guest Restaurant Not to mention that the food here just really isn’t great and has let us down some of the times we’ve eaten here in the past few years. Again, if you’re fine paying for that atmosphere, then go for it, but know that you may be left wanting by this prix-fixe meal. If you’re going to spend that kind of money and want just as picturesque an experience WITH characters, we suggest heading to Cinderella’s Royal Table instead! Space 220 Speaking of amazing atmosphere but meh food, we have Space 220 in EPCOT. Now, normally EPCOT is known for its fantastic restaurants and it’s rare we find one we dislike, but Space 220 makes that list. Space 220 Don’t get us wrong, the setting here is AMAZING. You get to feel like you’re traveling up into space to have a meal among the stars, and that’s truly a meal like no other. While the food is a little more adventurous, that’s not our issue with it (though adult picky eaters will likely HATE it because you can’t order off the kids menu here) — it’s that for the price you’re paying, the food just isn’t enough to make the whole experience worth it. Space 220 Not to mention we’ve had many readers of ours say that the experience is a lengthy one, and not in the way you enjoy and expect from a table service restaurant. No, they’ve said that their service was very slow and they were sitting at their table for the whole experience for 2+ hours! Listen, sitting in space is cool, but there are a lot of OTHER things to do in EPCOT, you don’t want to be spending that much time stuck in the middle of the night sky. Pinocchio Village Haus Moving over to a quick service spot, we’re quite literally begging you to go to ANY other quick service spot in the entirety of Magic Kingdom than Pinocchio Village Haus. Pinocchio Village Haus This spot serves up mostly classic theme parks eats with a few different offerings here and there. At best, this restaurant is meh, and at worst (which is more often than we’d like) it’s flat out blech. We can’t tell you the amount of times we’ve gotten something here that we’ve downright hated. Seating inside We can’t say the same for basically any other spot in Magic Kingdom, even Cosmic Ray’s Starlight Cafe, so just take our word for it and head straight past this one. Is it going to make you sick or be downright terrible? No, not necessarily, but when people talk about a bad food experience in Magic Kingdom, this is usually where we think they’re talking about (and we’re right at least half of the time). Rosie’s All-American Cafe Over in Disney’s Hollywood Studios, finding great dining options is a struggle sometimes if you don’t know where to look. And we’ll tell you right now, DON’T look at Rosie’s All-American Cafe because you’ll be disappointed most likely. Rosie’s All American Cafe Again, this isn’t a restaurant that will have you spitting out your food and exclaiming in disgust, but you’ll pay those high Disney prices for plain old theme park food and essentially go “um…that wasn’t worth it.” We’ve eaten here countless times and basically forget it exists unless there’s a new dining option we have to review. Trying to navigate Lighting Lane in Disney World can be difficult, but that’s why we’re here to help! Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway Lightning Lane There are so many rules to remember and tons of tips and tricks that are important to make the most of your vacation, and some parks we don’t even recommend you use Lightning Lane in. We’ve tried out all the tricks to see what works best, and trust us when we say these are the two that work every time without fail! First, let’s review what Lightning Lane is. You’ve got Lightning Lane Multi Pass, an optional paid service available through the My Disney Experience app which allows you to bypass standby lines and enter the Lightning Lane at select attractions in the parks by paying a base price for multiple attractions. Lightning Lane Single Pass, on the other hand, is where you can select to skip the line for one attraction by paying ONE fee for that attraction alone. Lightning Lane at Peter Pan’s Flight For this post, we’re going to focus on Lightning Lane Multi Pass since it’s the more popular service while also being a little harder to navigate. You can make up to 3 Lightning Lane Multi Pass selections before your trip (7 days before if you’re staying at a Disney World Hotel, 3 days before for everyone else) and the attractions for 3/4 parks (not counting Animal Kingdom) are split into higher and lowered tiers with more popular rides in the higher tiers. When you go to book, you can select one from the highest tier and 2 from the bottom tiers, and this is where our first tip actually comes in. Lightning Lane at Expedition Everest When booking your first three attractions, be sure to choose what we call a “throwaway” attraction — one of the lowest tiered attractions that you can book first thing in the morning, scan in and hop on the ride to free up that selection to then choose ANY ride — once you’ve scanned in for your first ride, the tier requirements go away and you can select any ride that still has availability. This is a great way to make sure you can select another higher tiered attraction for later in the day before they all fill up! The Barnstormer is a lower tiered attraction Not seeing the Lightning Lane options you were hoping for? This is where our second tip comes in — not only is it important to refresh throughout the day (we know, annoying, but if you’re trying to get the best times, it’s the name of the game!), we discovered a trick to refreshing to (hopefully) get you some better options to choose from. You can use this method after you have made all of your initial selections and confirmed your purchase. This tip can help you find better times for attractions that you have already booked. When you are on the main screen, tap on the selection you are looking to modify the time for and then select “Modify Plan” in the pop-up. ©Disney You will then be taken to a screen where you can modify the experience by either picking a new time or picking a new experience. On this page, select whatever time the app gives you to modify the selection to (even if it is much later). Then, you will be taken to a screen to review the details of your selection. ©Disney On this page, find the attraction again, and you will see a “Modify Time” option in blue text. Click on this to see a list of available times. If you’re still not seeing an ideal time, you can repeatedly click “Close” and then “Modify Time” again to refresh the available times. Your selections are only saved for five minutes, but you can continue to refresh the available times, and if the five minutes run out, you can simply back out and come back in.
