You never know when you might spot a celebrity or two in Disney World! Hi, Walt! Stars, they’re just like us — and some of them love the Disney parks just as much as we do. We’ve been seeing more and more celebs make their way to the Most Magical Place on Earth and honestly, we don’t blame them! A popular actor and musician just visited Disney World and his favorite new ride makes a whole lot of sense. In the caption of the post, Leto said, “PS this ride goes pretty hard has anyone tried it?” Uh, YES, Jared. We have tried it — and we love it, too! In addition to Jared Leto, Greta Lee, Evan Peters, Hasan Minhaj, Jodie Turner-Smith, Arturo Castro, Cameron Monaghan, and Gillian Anderson have all signed on to be in TRON: Ares. ©Deadline The film began production in January in Vancouver, and is slated for a 2025 theatrical release — so it looks like we’ll have to wait a bit longer to see Leto as the star of TRON: Ares. TRON Lightcycle / Run at night The Disney sci-fi franchise films began in 1982 with Jeff Bridges starring in the first installment. The next movie (Tron: Legacy) was finished in 2010, starring Bridges, Garret Hedlund, and Olivia Wilde. The script for the new film is being written by Jesse Wigutow with Sean Bailey and Sam Dickerman as executive producers and Justin Springer, Leto, Jeffrey Silver, and Leto’s Paradox partner Emma Ludbrook as producers. Daft Punk composed the soundtrack for TRON: Legacy ©Disney You just never know who might be walking around Disney World the next time you’re there! It’s that time again… EPCOT International Food and Wine Festival Every year, a massive change ripples through EPCOT that fundamentally alters how to approach a day at the park: The EPCOT Food and Wine Festival. The litany of special events and offerings offered by the crowds they draw – – along with the crowds they draw – – makes the park a very different place than it is normally. Whether you’re a festival veteran or have never been, it’s best to bone up on all the ways EPCOT is about to change. When the 2024 EPCOT International Food begins on August 29th, there are three major things to be aware of: International Marketplaces The core element of the Food and Wine Festival are the food booths spread throughout the park. There are booths and marketplaces from a ton of different cultures. You can find all sorts of different dishes and desserts along with fine wine, craft beer, and so much more! You can see ALL the booths coming to the 2024 EPCOT Food and Wine Festival here! Japanese Christmas Punch Eat to the Beat Concert Series Another major part of the Food and Wine Festival is the Eat to the Beat concert series. Offered as part of the standard EPCOT admission ticket, this series features world-renowned musical artists performing several times a day during the festival at the America Gardens Theatre in World Showcase. New and returning artists this year include The Fray, Sugar Ray, Yellowcard, Tiffany, Sheila E., Joey Fatone, Hanson, Boys II Men, and Smash Mouth. The full schedule of performers can be found here. Eat to the Beat Sign Crowds While the food and drink offerings are fantastic, they also tend to draw in LARGE crowds. The festival will usually be especially crowded during its first week (August 19th-September 8th in 2024) as well as holiday weekends and the festival’s closing days. In addition, some of the larger concerts (we’re looking at you Hanson) have a tendency to draw even larger crowds on the days they’re performing. Food + Wine + Disney = Heaven! Whether you’ve been to the Food and Wine Festival before or this is your first time hearing about it, keep in mind that EPCOT is going to be drastically different than usual over the next few months. If you are going the first week of the festival, be prepared for larger crowds than usual. You could find yourself waiting in long lines for booths. So just be prepared for that. Weekends tends to be pretty crowded during festivals as well. It has also been a few months since the last festival, so we think locals and out of town guests alike a really itching for EPCOT to be back in festival mode. We will be LIVE from the festival reporting on all of the booths and new food. Be sure to stay tuned for our annual best of the fest so you know exactly what you need to try when you visit the festival! IT'S WINE & DINE TIME! Food & Wine Festival can be a bummer. You stand in line waiting for what looks like the perfect treat, and it's a bust. It is almost here! The EPCOT International Food and Wine Festival is returning to EPCOT this week! 2023 EPCOT Food and Wine Festival We are eagerly counting down the days until EPCOT once again has a festival, as it has been festival-less all summer, but that is all about to change when the Food and Wine Festival returns on August 29th. We already have the complete list of booths and all the menus, and it has been making us hungry all week. We have been going to the Food and Wine Festival for 15 years, so we know a thing or two about festival strategy, and of course, we want to share our game changers with you! The Food and Wine Festival has so much to offer! You can snack and drink your way around EPCOT with over 25 Global Marketplace food booths. You can Eat to the Beat over in the America Gardens Theatre each night as different bands and artists take the stage. You can even participate in a cheese crawl and help find Remy around EPCOT, in Remy’s Hide and Squeak Scavenger Hunt. The EPCOT Food and Wine Festival There is so much to enjoy that you are probably asking yourself, “How can I do it all?” Well, we have some tips to help you make the most out of your visit to EPCOT during the Food and Wine Festival. The ONLY EPCOT Food & Wine Festival Guide You Need To Read in 2024 Enter EPCOT Using the Back Entrance Did you know that EPCOT has two different entrances? The front entrance is right by Spaceship Earth, and the back entrance is located between the France and the United Kingdom Pavilions. International Gateway The International Gateway, or in our official terms, “the back entrance,” is a great way to beat the crowds, especially during festival season. This entrance serves as an entrance to those using the Friendship Boats, taking the Skyliner, or staying at the EPCOT area hotels, but anyone can enter this way! International Gateway If you are looking to save time and get into the park quicker, we suggest entering through the back! These Are the BEST Hotels for the EPCOT Food & Wine Festival in 2024 Visit EPCOT During the Week and Not Weekend It is no surprise that Disney World gets crowded on the weekends, which unfortunately can mean longer lines at attractions and longer lines at food booths. Avoid the crowds You don’t want to spend the majority of your Food and Wine day waiting in line; you want to spend it trying all the delicious food and drinks! If your trip allows for it, we highly suggest planning your EPCOT day to fall on a weekday, as crowds tend to be lower. Skip Opening and Closing Weekend So many people will be flocking to EPCOT this Thursday and through the weekend to be some of the first to visit EPCOT for the Food and Wine Festival. This means that we can expect EPCOT to be very crowded this first weekend and for food booth lines to be very long. Food and Wine Festival The same goes for the last weekend of the festival, as the festival ends on November 23rd. There will be people who are trying to get their favorite dishes and drinks one last time before EPCOT transitions into the International Festival of the Holidays on November 29th. Lines can get long on weekends Heed our warning, and avoid visiting EPCOT the first and last weekend of the Food and Wine Festival, if possible. Make a Game Plan Ahead of Time If you are like us, you may have already made your “Must Have” list for the Food and Wine Festival. If you have not, you may want to start creating yours. 2023 EPCOT Food and Wine Festival Having a game plan ahead of time can make your Food and Wine Festival visit go smoother. This is because you are able to map out what booths you should visit and map out your day. It is also a great way to ensure everyone gets their pick of booths to try. Your FOOL-PROOF EPCOT Food and Wine Festival Game Plan You can start to create a game plan beforehand by checking out our blog. We have so many great Food and Wine Festival resources that can help you figure out and map out your day at the festival. Food and Wine Festival Banner 2023 A pro tip is that the My Disney Experience app actually has a digital copy of the festival passport, meaning that you can get your hands on a passport before you are even in the park! Go the Same Week as the Food and Wine Classic for TWO Festivals There is another festival that goes on at the same time as EPCOT’s Food and Wine Festival, and it is located just behind EPCOT! EPCOT The Food and Wine Classic takes place at the Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin on November 15th and 16th. The event takes place between 5:30 PM-9:30 PM. Swan and Dolphin Food & Wine Classic That means if you choose to visit Disney World on November 15th and 16th, you can have the opportunity to visit two festivals! Visit Booths as Soon as They Open While EPCOT usually opens at 9 AM each day, the food booths do not open until a little later. Typically, booths will open around 11 AM, but sometimes they can open a little bit before that time. 2023 Hawaii Booth To take full advantage of all of the food booths, we suggest starting early and hitting up the food booths as soon as they open. This way, you will have more time to try more booths and hopefully beat some of the mid-day crowds. Purchase the DFB Food and Wine Festival Guide Along with the resources on our blog and YouTube channel, AJ and the team have specialty guides to help you during your visit to Disney World. There is even one precisely for the EPCOT International Food and Wine Festival. DFB Guide The Food and Wine Festival is EPCOT’s largest festival and our guide has the best tips, information, and advice so you can enjoy all your time at the festival. We go to Disney World every single day, so that means we’re eating quite a few meals in the parks. Magic Kingdom We’re often there for breakfast, lunch, and sometimes even dinner, and throughout those many meals, we’ve tried all KINDS of snacks. Some spots have risen to the top of our list for must-try eats in the parks, but others leave some things to be desired. And today, we’re here to tell you about a major breakfast problem! When it comes to eating breakfast in the Disney World parks, your options can be a bit limited. The Disney World hotels all offer various breakfast foods, but after you tap your ticket and walk into the theme parks, you’re fending for yourself. Chocolate-Hazelnut Banana Mickey Waffle There are plenty of delicious breakfast options to be found (like our beloved Gaston’s Tavern cinnamon roll), but the majority of them tend to trend on the sweet side. Pastries abound, but breakfast sandwiches are few and far between — and where they exist, they’re often rather disappointing. Gaston’s Tavern — Warm Cinnamon Roll But you know who we REALLY want to get in on that savory breakfast treat game? Joffrey’s! Starbucks is one of our go-to spots for a good breakfast sammie, but they get so busy in the mornings that it can be a pain to wait in line. Joffrey’s stands abound in the parks and they’re home to some yummy doughnuts and pastries…just think what they could create if they put their minds to savory treats! Joffrey’s at EPCOT We’d love Joffrey’s to offer a savory pastry (something with bacon and cheese?) or a croissant sandwich. Maybe even a bagel? (We’re not quite sure if that counts as savory but it’s less sweet.) There are so many possibilities! Their cookies are sooo good — can we get something savory? So that’s our formal plea to Joffrey’s! But for now, we’ll be enjoying our shortlist of favorite savory breakfast items in the parks. You can get breakfast totchos at both Woody’s Lunch Box in Hollywood Studios and Kusafiri Coffee Shop & Bakery in Animal Kingdom. Crêpes a Emporter in EPCOT offers savory galettes, and Les Halles nearby has some savory pastries and sandwiches as well. A few different snack stands throughout the parks offer breakfast sandwiches, and Yak & Yeti Local Foods Cafe has a vastly under appreciated breakfast menu. Breakfast Totchos So when you’re in the parks for breakfast during your next visit, make sure to share your favorite way to start the day with us! We’ll be on the lookout for more eats in Disney World so stay tuned. Click Here for Our List of Best Breakfasts in Magic Kingdom! We talk about rope dropping the Disney World parks quite a bit, but one of our favorite times to visit the parks is actually late at night! Hollywood Studios at Night From holiday parties to After Hours events to Extended Evening Hours, there are plenty of ways to enjoy Disney World once the parks have closed to regular guests. However, if you want to take advantage of these offerings, you’ll definitely need to plan in advance. They’re only available on select nights and sometimes, only certain attractions are available for you to experience! Extended Evening Hours are perhaps the easiest way to get extra time in the theme parks, as they typically happen twice a week. Guests staying at Disney World Deluxe hotels can enjoy a couple extra hours of park time in select parks on select dates after closing time. Extended Evening Hours sign Most often, we see Extended Evening Hours offered at Magic Kingdom and EPCOT. However, soon, this perk will be returning to Hollywood Studios and Animal Kingdom on select nights as well. The Disney World calendar lists the dates when this perk is available, but if you’re interested in the available attractions during Extended Evening Hours, we have an important update for you. Tower of Terror A popular attraction has now been REMOVED from the list of available Extended Evening Hours offerings at Hollywood Studios! A few days ago, Muppet*Vision 3D was listed as one of the attractions that would be open during the later hours, but it has since been removed from that list. ©Disney This is particularly notable because there’s quite a bit of discourse surrounding Muppet*Vision 3D at the moment. During D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event, Disney announced that a new Monsters, Inc. Land would be coming to Hollywood Studios. Since then, many have debated where the land will be located, and it seems that one of the possibilities is for it to replace Muppets Courtyard. Monsters Inc. Hooray for Hollywood…Studios! Okay, so Hollywood Studios is a super fun park and we’ll admit that we sometimes prefer it over the other parks in Disney World. Hollywood Studios There’s just something special that happens when you step into Hollywood Studios and find yourself in old Hollywood with a very questionable hotel in the background (we hear the elevator keeps having problems), seeing a replica of Grauman’s Chinese Theatre right in front of you, complete with hand prints and autographs of some pretty famous people right in front. Then you can step INTO the movies, like Toy Story and Star Wars. However, there are some outright lies we keep hearing people tell about Hollywood Studios, and we’re about to bust those wide open! So here are the lies we always hear about Hollywood Studios. It’s a half-day park Okay, so maybe in the 1990s, you would have considered Hollywood Studios a half-day park. However, there is SO much to do there now that you absolutely need at least a full day to enjoy it if you are a Disney adult or traveling with older kids. Us Star Wars fans can literally spend a whole day in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge just taking in the details and playing some of the interactive games available in that land. Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge Then there’s Toy Story Land, which has some amazing entertainment (we’ll never NOT stop for the Green Army Drum Corps.), as well as some of our favorite Toy Story characters. Add those two lands to everything else going on in Hollywood Studios, and you’ve got MORE than enough to fill a day — or two — in Disney World. We will say though, if you are traveling with younger toddlers, there are very few attractions for them in Hollywood Studios. 50 AMAZING Things You Never Knew Were in Disney’s Hollywood Studios There’s nothing for kids It’s true that in the past, there weren’t a lot of attractions and experiences for kids in Hollywood Studios, but right now, there are TONS of things for older kids to do. Not only can they enjoy a breakfast at Hollywood & Vine with Disney Junior characters, but they can also enjoy Toy Story Land, which even has a great attraction, Alien Swirling Saucers, that’s perfect for the little ones. Alien Swirling Saucers Then there’s a Frozen Sing-Along, a musical retelling of Beauty and the Beast, Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway, and Lightning McQueen’s Racing Academy. Plus kids are sure to love the new Monsters, Inc. land that’s coming to the park soon! We do miss the playground that used to be here because it was such a great place for the little to get out their energy. It’s Rare That Anything Surprises Me Anymore, but This Hollywood Studios Addition Made Me Smile There are no good places to eat Excuse us…what? As the Disney FOOD blog, we are the first to say THIS IS SUCH A LIE. Hollywood Studios has some of our favorite dining experiences. For example, where else can you eat at a 1950s style diner where you’ll get a serious talking to if you put your elbows on the table (yes, we love 50s Prime Time Cafe)? Not to mention, that diner has some of the best fried chicken we’ve ever had. We’re also HUGE fans of the Hollywood Brown Derby, which we STILL think is a super underrated Disney World restaurant. Hollywood Brown Derby is seriously underrated Then there’s Baseline Taphouse with some incredible snacks and draft beers on tap. Plus…hello… TOTCHOS from Woody’s Lunch Box is one of our absolute favorite lunches. We also will tell you to not sleep on ABC Commissary because this quick service spot went from zero to hero when it introduced a new menu in 2020. One of our all-time favorite snacks, the Carrot Cake Cookie, can be found at Trolley Car Cafe. Don’t ever tell us Hollywood Studios doesn’t have good food. We Found a BIG Clue About a NEW Restaurant Coming to Disney’s Hollywood Studios “Andy’s coming” This myth has been going around for a while, but basically, it’s the idea that if you say “Andy’s coming!” around any of the Toy Story characters, they HAVE to drop to the ground and pretend to be inanimate toys. We don’t think this was ever true…but there IS an exception. Woody and Jessie Okay, so if you happen to dine at Roundup Rodeo BBQ, you will hear the words “Andy’s coming!” on the speaker. Guests are encouraged to freeze in position (and you’ll see Cast Members doing it, too), so Disney sort of made this myth into a reality…but it still doesn’t involve the actual characters. Disney Is Making a Viral and Controversial Trend Reality You should skip Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge unless you’re a Star Wars fan So, yes, Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge was absolutely made with a ton of Easter eggs and details that only Star Wars fans might get, but at the same time, it’s immersive enough that even those who have never seen a Star Wars movie can enjoy it. It’s got that whole “planet in a galaxy far, far away” vibe that even those not well-versed in Star Wars can enjoy, not to mention some rides that are just fun even if you can’t pick out every single Star Wars reference. ANYONE can enjoy Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge There’s also this. Remember how we talked about good food in Hollywood Studios? Ronto Wraps from Ronto Roasters in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge are for EVERYONE, and you don’t have to love Star Wars to enjoy that snack. Then there’s the Cold Brew Black Caf that coffee drinkers can enjoy. Plus we love the popcorn mixes at Kat Saka’s Kettle. The Secret Proof That Disney’s NEW Monsters Inc. Land Has Been in Development for YEARS So the next time you visit Hollywood Studios, remember that some things you’ve been told about the park are absolutely wrong. So enjoy yourself, have fun, and we’ll see you soon in Hollywood…Studios, that is. Join the DFB Newsletter to get all the breaking news right in your inbox! Click here to Subscribe! WE KNOW DISNEY. Big changes are coming to California Adventure. Red Trolley Car There were many major announcements made at the 2024 D23 Ultimate Fan event regarding Disney’s theme parks, including the confirmation that the Avengers E-Ticket attraction is finally coming to California Adventure. The new ride, dubbed Avengers Infinity Defense, will anchor an expansion to Avengers Campus that will also feature the Stark Flight Lab attraction, which will feature Robert Downey Jr. returning as Iron Man. However, this new construction may lead to the end of an old favorite. We can confirm that the construction of the Avengers attractions will lead to changes in several backstage areas of California Adventure, including the Red Car Trolley Barn, which is why the attraction will be discontinued at an as-yet-unannounced date in early 2025. The Red Car Trolley, based on the real trolley system that formerly served Los Angeles before itself being controversially removed in the mid-20th century, was built at California Adventure as part of the massive refurbishment Disney built at the park in the late 2000s/early 2010s. Red Car Trolley behind the Gates at Disney California Adventure Park Opening in 2012, the ride became a favorite of California Adventure fans thanks to its unique theming a placemaking. The ride, which according to Disney offers a “charming vintage trolley for a scenic ride through Buena Vista Street and Hollywood Land”, features stops at Buena Vista Street, Carthay Circle, Hollywood Boulevard, and Sunset Boulevard. There is the possibility that the Red Car Trolley could return once the new attractions are ready with new backstage infrastructure, similar to the way the Walt Disney World Railroad had been closed during the construction of TRON Lightcycle/Run, though that possibility seems remote. We’ll have to wait and see, but more information is expected to be released this winter. Red Car Trolley! Stay tuned to DFB for further updates on Disneyland’s construction. Disney dropped some HUGE park news at the beginning of August at D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event and a lot of it was about new rides, new lands, and new expansions. Disney California Adventure For example, Villains Land and Cars rides were announced for Magic Kingdom in Disney World, as well as a new Monsters, Inc. land in Hollywood Studios. Disney also announced new Avatar and Marvel attractions coming to Disney California Adventure. However, Disney did NOT tell us when the new California Adventure attractions would be getting added to the park. But now, we know construction on the new Avengers Campus attractions will be starting sooner rather than later! During the D23 event in Anaheim, CA, Deadpool showed up to join Josh D’Amaro, Disney Experiences Chairman, on stage with several Marvel announcements. One of those was that Avengers Campus at Disney California Adventure will be doubling in size and adding TWO new attractions to the Marvel-themed area. Avengers Campus ©Disney When Deadpool and D’Amaro made this announcement, they did not share WHEN these new attractions would be coming to the Avengers Campus nor even when construction would begin on them. But now we know construction will begin in early 2025! It was previously announced that we’d see work in 2025, but now we can expect it in the early months of next year. Avengers Campus When work begins, the backstage Red Car Trolley barn will need to be removed causing Disney to discontinue operation of the trolley attraction in early 2025. There was no word on if the trolley will come back after construction is complete. A specific date for the closure will be shared later this winter. Red Car Trolley! When the new attractions are completed, we’ll be able to ride Avengers Infinity Defense to try to stop Thanos from wreaking havoc among worlds as well as Stark Flight Lab where you can learn to fly like Tony Stark (a.k.a. Iron Man)! It will be an exciting expansion to the Avengers Campus and the world of Marvel at Disney California Adventure. Avengers Infinity Defense will have guests join in battle across the multiverse alongside the Avengers to defeat King Thanos and recover stolen Stark technology. ©Disney We can’t wait to learn more about the upcoming lands, expansions, and attractions headed to the Disney parks! Just when you thought living out your princess dreams around Disney World couldn’t get any better — it just did! Tiana Cone Everyone visiting Disney World needs to take time for a snack break every now and then, and what’s better than a sweet treat to reward yourself for all those long days in the parks! We’ve been trying out Disney World’s exclusive princess treats around the parks and hotels and we couldn’t wait to snag the newest to release over at Storybook Treats in Magic Kingdom’s Fantasyland. This quick service restaurant is one of our go-to’s for princess-themed ice cream concoctions since they’re already home to the beautifully themed Aurora Cone and Rapunzel Sundae, so when we noticed another princess cone was added to the lineup, we knew we HAD to be one of the first to try it out! New treat! So, we stepped on up, placed our order at the window, and waited our turn. It didn’t take long until this gorgeous Tiana Cone was ours! This treat is made of white chocolate and frosted mint soft-serve swirl topped with white chocolate crispy pearls and a chocolate Tiana decoration and you can pick one up for $6.29. Tiana Cone This treat was super melty right from the get-go but it was such an interesting flavor combo! The white chocolate was present but lost the flavor battle against the frosted mint soft serve because it was certainly the more commanding flavor of the two. It’s not an overbearing mint flavor, but it is a very noticeable mint that your mouth can pick out after mulling it around. The white chocolate crispy pearls added a nice crunch to the mix but it’s coated in the chocolate so it’s a softer crunch. The white chocolate square has Tiana printed on it we’ve seen used in several treats before and would have probably guessed it’s Tiana-themed even without it. Look at the details! Admittedly, our reporter who tried this treat isn’t someone who typically favors mint flavor however, they gave their stamp of approval on it and said the frosted mint added a fresh spruce to the mix. It’s not typically a flavor combo that we would proactively order on a regular day but, we felt like it was worth the try for something different. We’ve tried several of the limited-time princess treats around Disney World already! Check them out at the link below and stay tuned with us at Disney Food Blog for even more! Private bathrooms, shorter coffee lines, and cursed attractions?? People have been GATEKEEPING the best parts about Magic Kingdom from you! So we’re putting a stop to that RIGHT NOW. Cinderella Castle in Disney World’s Magic Kingdom I don’t have to tell you that Magic Kingdom is an amazing place filled with amazing things — because you already KNEW that. What I CAN tell you, though, is that Magic Kingdom is an amazing place filled with amazing things you DON’T know about, too. Morning Main Street Rides Are you gonna WALK right down the middle of Main Street, U.S.A… or are you gonna RIDE down it? During the day, you MIGHT have the opportunity to hop aboard one of the Main Street, U.S.A vehicles and get a ride all the way up to Cinderella Castle. While the vehicles aren’t available ALL of the time, they’re more apt to be out and running during the morning (especially before the Festival of Fantasy parade — since these little Jitneys will not be able to run when the parade is in motion). Take a ride There are two pickup and dropoff locations for these vehicles; one in Town Square, and the other in front of the ever-iconic Cinderella Castle. You can always ask a nearby cast member about when these rides are going to take place — or you can check for posted operation times near the Main Street vehicle pick up/drop off locations. The Return Of My Favorite Magic Kingdom Sundae During Disney World’s 50th Anniversary Celebration (which lasted 18 months and started back on October 1st, 2021), we saw a LOT of limited time treats enter the Magic Kingdom scene. But we also saw some long-time favorites disappear for a while, too. Like my favorite All-American Sundae from the Plaza Ice Cream Parlor off Main Street, U.S.A. HOWEVER, after all the anniversary festivities FINALLY wrapped up, my beloved sundae returned to the parlor menu! (And all was right with the world.) The All-American Sundae is a combination of Old-fashioned Vanilla and Chocolate Ice Cream topped with Hot Fudge, Peanut Butter Drizzle, Whipped Cream, and a Cherry. All-American Sundae at Plaza Ice Cream Parlor It’s a pretty simple concoction, but the peanut butter drizzle is what REALLY makes this a #1 ice cream contender for me. (SO creamy, nutty, and downright TASTY.) Fireworks Views From A TOTALLY Unique Perspective Okay, hear me out. If you’ve already seen the Happily Ever After fireworks from Main Street, U.S.A at least once — or you just have an aversion to crowds — there’s a really FUN and DIFFERENT way to see the show… if you’re willing to gamble on it. Before the fireworks begin, head over to Frontierland and check how long the wait time is for Big Thunder Mountain Railroad. Now, you might have to do some math, depending on how long the line for Big Thunder Mountain Railroad is — but ride lines are typically shorter right before the fireworks happen. If you can time your wait just right (or, better yet, if you have a Lightning Lane that can help you bypass the main line altogether), then you’ll have a unique view of the fireworks while you’re zooming along the tracks! Become Part Of The Show The monsters at Monsters Inc. Laugh Floor don’t just need your laughter to power their city — they need your JOKES and ALL-AROUND participation, too. Before the show begins, you’ll have the chance to text in a quick joke. Make it something family-friendly that you don’t have to think too hard about — because if your joke is chosen, one of the monsters will read it toward the end of the act! Mike Wazowski! But even if you DON’T text in a joke, you still need to be ready to become part of this improv-like show at any given time! You might be featured on the BIG SCREEN, or asked a few questions to help out an act, or you might even become THAT GUY. Ah, man, we LOVE that guy. Keep in mind that not EVERYONE will be chosen to participate in these performances (since there will be a LOT of guests and only a limited amount of time for each act). Throw Out The First Pitch Better get your throwing arm all warmed up — because you MIGHT be one of the lucky chosen to throw out the Casey’s Corner first pitch on the day of your Magic Kingdom visit! Every morning at Casey’s Corner on Main Street, U.S.A, a First Pitch is thrown… just like in a baseball game! Usually, Cast Members at Casey’s Corner will ask ONE kiddo if they’d like to throw out the First Pitch (but sometimes an adult might be asked to join in on the fun instead). Whoever the lucky chosen is will typically get a free brownie for a job well done (or rather, a pitch well thrown). Keep in mind that the first pitch only happens right before the quick service opens up shop — so to increase your chances of it happening for someone in your group, you’re gonna want to rope drop this hot dog establishment. Restaurants With Parade Views There are a few Magic Kingdom restaurants with underrated window/outdoor views that aren’t just great for people-watching… but great for PARADE watching, too. If you time your meal just right, and the odds are ever in your favor, then you might be able to get a restaurant seat with a direct view of the Festival of Fantasy parade. Tony’s Town Square, for instance, has an outdoor viewing area where you can watch the tail end of the parade take place. And the windows over at Crystal Palace might give you a view of the whole parade WITH Cinderella Castle in the background. These parade-view seats aren’t guaranteed, but you can always ask the host up front about them, just in case they’re available during your reservation time. If you don’t wanna pay for a full sit-down meal for lunch, Columbia Harbour House — over in Liberty Square — also has select window-seat tables on the second floor where you’ll be able to see the parade from a bird’s eye view These seats are pretty popular though, so you may want to plan to grab your food and (hopefully) find your spot earlier on rather than right before the parade begins. This Disney World original is going down for a bit. Magic Kingdom Ride closures and refurbishments are a part of life at Disney World. This year alone has seen long — and in some cases ongoing — periods of closure for Test Track, Peter Pan’s Flight, and Rock ’n’ Roller Coaster amongst others. Now, an iconic attraction has joined the list. As of August 26th, one of the Magic Kingdom’s remaining opening-day attractions, the World Famous Jungle Cruise, has gone down for a refurbishment. According to the Disney World calendar, the closure should last nearly two months, with a reopening currently scheduled for October 18th. This refurbishment will keep the ride from being available during the majority of the 2024 run of Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party. Walls are up While the Jungle Cruise has a LONG history of changes — from the move over from a realistic to more comedic, Marc Davis-inspired presentation in the early 1960s to the elimination of problematic cultural elements in the early 2020s — we’re not anticipating any massive changes to that level with this closure. Instead, we expect the ride to reopen as its normal self in October and then receive its traditional Christmas-themed Jingle Cruise holiday overlay in November as usual. The Jungle Cruise will be back If you’re visiting the Magic Kingdom during the closure and still want to scratch your Jungle Cruise itch, we’d recommend a meal at the Skipper Canteen. This Adventureland restaurant is themed to the ride, specifically, the idea that the “same skippers who guided your steamer down the Nile, Amazon and Congo Rivers have opened the doors and kitchens of their tropical headquarters to fellow adventurers and famished families like your own!” The restaurant’s dining room and menu are filled with references to the ride, and the overall S.E.A. mythos that Disney has integrated into rides and attractions around the world. Skipper Canteen Disney World’s iconic Jungle Cruise attraction has officially closed for refurbishment and will remain so for almost two months. Plan accordingly if you’re heading to the Magic Kingdom soon. Stay tuned to DFB for further coverage of Disney World’s refurbishment calendar. Let’s talk about flying to Disney World. Cinderella Castle Many people choose to fly to Disney World instead of driving. This may be because they’re coming to the parks from international countries, or they may be coming from across the country. Wherever people come from to visit the Most Magical Place on Earth, most people have to purchase airline tickets to get there. That’s why it’s important to find great deals on those plane tickets, which can be a difficult part of the planning process. But we recently noticed one budget airline offering some awesome deals on their already low fares! Allegiant Air is known for its cheap flights around the country. The budget airline services many smaller, local airports with direct flights offered on certain days of the week. Many locations have inexpensive direct flights to Disney World, which is great news for us Disney fans! ©Allegiant Airlines Depending on where you live, Allegiant may offer flights to Orlando International Airport or to Orlando Sanford International Airport. Both of these airports are great options to fly into to get to Disney World. Now, we spotted a sale going on for the many locations offering Allegiant flights to one or both of these destinations! For example, if you’re flying from Albany, NY, you can get tickets for as low as $68 one way! ©Allegiant Air If you’re flying from Bloomington, IL, you can score flights for $57! ©Allegiant Air Flights from Chattanooga, TN are as low as $46. ©Allegiant Air And those of you coming from Harrisburg, PA can get flights for as low as $54! ©Allegiant Air If you head over to allegiantair.com/deals, you can pick your home airport to find out where and when flights are heading to Disney World and grab them at these low costs! One thing to be aware of is that Allegiant typically only flies on certain days from certain airports, so you may need to adjust your travel dates to score these low-cost flights. Sanford Airport Many of the locations fly into Orlando Sanford, but places like Allentown, PA do fly into Orlando International, so check your own location closely! If you’re looking for help planning your vacation to Disney World, be sure to check out our friends at Small World Vacations. They can help take away the headache of doing it all on your own! Disney4me posted a topic in Disney Blogs
World Princess Week is here and we’re celebrating our beloved Disney Princesses all week long! Around the world, select Disney parks and resorts are joining the magical celebration with new, returning and year-round offerings from Princess-themed attractions to special entertainment, unique merch and must try food. Disneyland Paris Now through Aug. 31, there are even more ways to celebrate beloved Disney Princess characters at Disneyland Park at Disneyland Paris including a special royal welcome from Minnie Mouse every morning at the Main Street, U.S.A. train station balcony as she’s all dressed up in her princess gown, plus an encounter with Belle in Fantasyland where she’ll share some of her favorite stories. There’s even an exclusive show “Live Your Story – a Disney Princess Celebration,” only available during World Princess Week! And just in time for this special celebration, Disneyland Paris has designed an exclusive collection only found at the resort. You can find the all-new, exclusive merch at various shops including La Chaumière des Sept Nains, World of Disney, Main Street Motors and Royal Collection Boutique where you can find Jasmine or Belle-inspired spirit jerseys, and Moana, Jasmine and Aurora-themed ear headbands. There are also themed eats at Disneyland Park and Disneyland Hotel at Disneyland Paris such as the Royal Bayou Cake, Best. Shake. Ever!, Wave of the Ocean Cake, Mermaid Kiss Cupcake, Rapunzel’s Golden Glow mocktail, and the Enchanted Petals Cocktail available for a limited time. Looking to stay somewhere fit for royalty? The newly reimagined five-star Disneyland Hotel is inspired by Disney stories such as “Moana,” “Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs,” “Tangled,” “The Princess and the Frog,” “The Little Mermaid” and many others. Those looking for the most immersive experience can book one of the five signature suites featuring design elements from Walt Disney Animation Studios classics such as “Sleeping Beauty,” “Cinderella,” and “Tangled.” At La Table de Lumière inspired by the iconic Hall of Mirrors in the royal Palace of Versailles and Disney Animation’s “Beauty and the Beast,” you can enjoy exquisite French cuisine in the company of beloved Disney princesses and princes as they roam and interact with you. Or if you’re in Fantasyland, Auberge de Cendrillon offers a fun dining experience full of treats straight from Cinderella’s kitchen in the medieval splendor of a banquet hall inspired by the film. Hong Kong Disneyland Resort Hong Kong Disneyland Resort has joined the World Princess Week festivities through Sep. 1 with a celebratory “A Royal Walk with Princesses.” Catch this magical walk every Friday to Sunday featuring beloved Disney Princess characters in Fantasyland. Along with all their delicious delights, Royal Banquet Hall is serving new cupcakes themed to Ariel, Cinderella and Snow White. Additionally, you can also meet and complete royal tasks together with your favorite princesses daily at “An Adventureland Princess Encounter” in Adventureland throughout the celebration. Those visiting anytime of the year can admire the Castle of Magical Dreams – a Disney Castle inspired by beloved Disney princesses and queens from 13 stories such as “Moana,” “The Princess and the Frog,” “Tangled,” “Mulan,” “Frozen” and many more. This majestic edifice highlights the diversity of these unique characters and their stories with various architectural elements found throughout the castle. Best of all, you can even meet many of these princesses at the Royal Reception Hall inside the castle! Afterwards, stop by the Cinderella Carousel for a royal ride, explore the enchanted Fairy Tale Forest – presented by PANDORA where scenes from fairy tales come to life and even stay in the Kingdom Club Cinderella Suite at Hong Kong Disneyland Hotel complete with themed decorations and a complimentary, sumptuous Cinderella Platter. Walt Disney World Walt Disney World Resort is celebrating some limited time eats such as the Moana Petit Cake, Tiana Cone, Guardian of the Dragon Gem cake and Rapunzel Sundae. However, if you’re looking to dine alongside your favorite Disney Princess, make sure to book reservations to Cinderella’s Royal Table at Magic Kingdom Park or Akershus Royal Banquet Hall at EPCOT for an opportunity to encounter a royal promenade of princess friends! You can join Princess Tiana and the jazz-loving alligator Louis on Tiana’s Bayou Adventure as you journey down the bayou discovering both friends familiar and anew for this last ingredient – musical critters! And if you can’t make it to Walt Disney World in time for World Princess Week, Tiana’s Bayou Adventure also opens at Disneyland Resort on Nov. 15. If you’re a fan of Moana, Journey of Water, Inspired by Moana invites you to explore outdoor trails and encounter water in magical ways just like Moana as you learn about the global water cycle and how to protect it in a fun and engaging way, so you can have a positive impact on the world’s water. Disneyland Resort Kick off your morning at Disneyland Resort with Disney Princess Breakfast Adventures at Napa Rose inside Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel & Spa where you can reserve a scrumptious three-course breakfast for you and your family! Here you can enjoy a dining experience with unique interactions from your favorite Disney Princess, such as Mulan teaching warrior moves and Belle reading a story to guests. Adorable princess-themed novelties will also be available throughout Disneyland Resort including the Princess Tiana Sipper, Princess Aurora Sipper and Princess Belle Sipper while supplies last. Princess fans should also stop by Storytelling at Royal Theatre in Fantasyland where you can witness witty reenactments of scenes from “Beauty and the Beast” and “Tangled.” Still wanting more? Well, stop by the Royal Hall in Fantasyland where you can meet some of your favorite Disney heroines! Shanghai Disney Resort Those visiting Shanghai Disney Resort will want to stop by The Enchanted Storybook Castle in Fantasyland, which pays homage to “happily ever after” and the magic in all fairy tales. The castle features Disney queens and princesses throughout, including the four mosaic walls inside the castle that depict different fan-favorite princess stories. If you’re looking to meet some of these Disney royals, you can find them over at Castle Encounters Boutique, or if you’re feeling hungry, you can stop by the Royal Banquet Hall for delectable dishes inspired by the heroines themselves. Within the castle walls, you can also experience the attraction “Once Upon a Time” Adventure that leads you to the top of the castle as you ascend a magnificent staircase to a “Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs” interactive experience. Underneath the castle, you’ll find the Voyage to the Crystal Grotto, that’ll give you a dazzling display of Disney Princess tales as you journey through the waterways of Fantasyland. Tokyo Disney Resort Fantasy Springs is the newest themed port at Tokyo DisneySea and even includes Rapunzel’s Forest inspired by Disney Animation’s “Tangled.” In this area, you’ll be transported directly into the film and can explore where Rapunzel grew up. As you journey through the forest you might notice a few familiar sights including Rapunzel’s Tower, The Snuggly Duckling restaurant where you can grab a bite to eat and Rapunzel’s Lantern Festival, where you can experience the story of Rapunzel as it comes to life for the first time at a Disney park. You won’t want to skip this attraction as you journey through recognizable locations – including the fan-favorite Lantern Festival scene featuring the song “I See the Light.” Once you’re done exploring Fantasy Springs, Tokyo Disney Resort has other Princess-themed experiences you can enjoy. At Fantasyland in Tokyo Disneyland, you can find Cinderella’s Fairy Tale Hall inside Cinderella’s Castle featuring paintings, dioramas and other artworks that take you through the iconic story. Fans of “Aladdin” should also check out the Arabian Coast at Tokyo DisneySea, which is home to attractions such as Caravan Carousel and Jasmine’s Flying Carpets, shops including Agrabah Marketplace and restaurants like Sultan’s Oasis and Casbah Food Court. We’re so excited to continue celebrating this special week! Make sure to check out the World Princess Week Foodie Guide to discover all the limited time treats.
