Just days ago we were talking about the menus for the newest Disney restaurants to be hitting the scene and now the time has come to try them out! New Disney eats! Listen — we tend to get really excited when menus change and new restaurants open because this means we get an opportunity to try out the newest eats, treats, and sips to help you decide where you need to visit on your next Disney trip. We tried 4 of Disneyland’s newest restaurants and we have thoughts! Now that the time has come for the unveiling of the latest grub spots to hit Downtown Disney, we thought it was time for a visit to check out all the newest eats and drinks! Parkside Market is now open in Disneyland’s Downtown Disney district and while it might look like a fancy shmancy bar at first, there’s so much more here than meets the eye! Parkside Market This “second-story” bar, Vista, offers up a beautiful place to pop by for a refreshing drink while taking in the gorgeous views of Downtown Disney from above the hustle and bustle. Here you’ll find a whole array of delicious cocktails and mocktails made with local ingredients and artful garnishes. While we were stopping by for a drink, we also figured we should check out the vibrant food hall and its dining options just to round out our experience and get a true taste of the flavors this new spot has to offer. Inside the restaurant There are 3 other restaurants you’ll find housed within the food hall of this new venue. Seoul Sister is where you can choose fast-casual modern Korean-style rice bowls… Seoul Sister …Sip & Sonder, is your stop for lattes, fresh treats, frozen drinks, and small bites… Sip & Sonder …and GG’s Chicken Shop serves chicken sandwiches, salads, and classic dinner table sides. GG’s Chicken Shop Now that we’ve had a chance to look around a little bit, let’s talk about the real reason for our visit — the food and drinks! We started our visit off with one of the prettiest presentations of a drink that we’ve ever seen at Disney. The Flamboyance Frosé is made of Chapoutier Belleruche Rosé served in a stunning Flamingo glass which will cost you $16. However, this drink can also be made with Giesen 0% rosé for $12. The Flamboyance Frosé We thought this one was super light, refreshing, and tasted just like a rosé slushy. There’s a slight tartness but nothing about it overwhelmed us. We can see this one being a hit on a hot, sunny day and aesthetically it’s fun and great for photos. It also surprised us with how well its consistency held up against the elements! However, you’ll need to order this one at the bar if you want the flamingo glass, which you won’t get to take home with you. Hefty price Admittedly though, $16 is a bit hefty for a boozy slushy, but seemed to land on par with the current lineup of pricing for alcoholic drinks around Disneyland. You might want to give this one a try if you’re turned off by the usual rosé sweetness. It’s a pricey drink! After we got our fill of the fun flamingo slushy, it was time for some sustenance. We picked up our first dish of the evening at Sip & Sonder and if your mouth isn’t already gaping at the sheer look of this masterpiece then we can’t help you. You’re looking at the Cookies & Cream Cinnamon Roll which will cost you $7 to snag for yourself. We also picked up the Lavender Tea Latte Iced (but you can also have it served hot) for $5.75. Cookies & Cream Cinnamon Roll and Lavender Tea Latte Iced Alright, let’s go ahead and address the gigantic cinnamon roll first because it’s kinda hard to ignore sitting there! This thing is massive and we found it to be a great value for a sharable treat. The cookies and cream are more of a topping despite its looks and the center “roll” tastes more like a traditional cinnamon roll. It’s nice and bready with a good amount of flakiness to it while the cookies and cream are thicker and richer than a traditional icing glaze (think more along the lines of cream cheese in terms of thickness). Cookies & Cream Cinnamon Roll Don’t get us wrong though — the cookies and cream topping is great but it’s got a bold flavor to it which at times could be a little much even for as big of a sweet tooth as we have! Inside of the cinnamon roll To wash it down we turned our attention to the Lavender Tea Latte. This one comes in either a 12 or 16 oz at $5.25 and $5.75 respectively and overall stood the test of a solid drink option. The latte was light and the lavender shined but still managed to keep a subtle flavor profile. If you’re a fan of lavender tea there’s a high probability that this will wow you since its got that familiar floral taste. Lavender Tea Latte Iced Overall we felt it was a pretty safe bet for most folks in terms of both price and taste. Moving on, we decided to grab a bit from Seoul Sister. We knew our choice was clear the moment we spotted it on the menu, so we ordered the Signature Bowl. We had ours made of beef & egg with noodles (but you have a few other options like rice and salad) for $19. It also comes with Bulgogi Beef, Carrots, Kale, Egg, Sesame Oil, and Spicy Gochu Seoul Sauce. Signature Bowl This might have been the best thing we ate on this visit! The noodles had a citrusy flavor and the meat was tender and seasoned beautifully. The sesame oil is light but it has so much good flavor that we thought it was perfectly allocated. There’s a bit of tang to the meat from all the flavors happening which we really appreciated, felt added to the overall taste that was complimented nicely by the greens, and the egg was cooked nicely. We’re still stumped on the price to say we’d do it all over again without a second thought but we did thoroughly enjoy our bowl! One of the best here Last up on our food roundup was a stop at GG’s Chicken Shop. Here we picked up the Sweet and Spicy Fried Chicken for $18 and we added on the Waffle Fries for an additional $8. Sweet & Spicy Fried Chicken and Waffle Fries The chicken sandwich is served with pickled daikon slaw, soy cucumbers, and kewpie mayo all together on a brioche bun. Sweet and Spicy Fried Chicken To sum up the sandwich in one word — delicious. The chicken was so crispy and packed with a great tangy flavor in every bite and it was so juicy! It did have a little bit of a kick to it in terms of heat, but nothing over the top. The slaw was okay, but we felt it took away from some of the great flavor of the chicken. The bread is a standard brioche, which turned out to be a great choice for this sandwich and has some nice buttering to add to the flavor profile. Cucumbers were a bit much but they went well, especially with the slaw. The biggest downside to this sandwich was its sticker shock of a price — $18 with no side?! A travesty. The chicken really was amazing though and once you’ve got a craving for it, it’ll be hard to resist overpaying. Inside of the sandwich The Waffle Fries were served with GG’s spice rub which we thought was nice to jazz them up a bit more than your standard side of fries. It gave the overall flavor a nice rustic flair which really helped set them apart from standard, yet reliable waffle fries you can get countless other places. We do want to mention though that the seasoning is optional and free, and we’d even go as far as recommending you pair it with ketchup or a dipping sauce! Waffle fries As a whole, there were highs and lows to some of the dishes we tried and while several left a lasting impression on us, the proverbial cloud raining on our food parade was the prices. However, if that’s more of a bump in the road and less of a complete roadblock to you, there were several dishes whose flavors did impress us in the best ways and left us craving them on a return visit. Calling all of our ghostly ghouls! Haunted Mansion Holiday There is some big stuff happening in Disneyland right now with the new Walt Disney — A Magical Life opening later this year, Madame Leota’s Somewhere Beyond just recently opened, and so much more. Now we have a new sipper to enjoy while we wait on all of these fun things. To celebrate Haunted Mansion’s reopening on January 18th, there is a new ghostly sipper that we think is going to be a popular one! Over on X, Disney Parks shared photos of the brand-new Bride Sipper! ©Disney This sipper features Constance Hatchaway, the famous black widow bride, from the iconic Disney attraction. You can see the bride’s beating red heart front and center. Personally, we’re feeling spooked just looking at her! She is also holding a candelabra (do you think it floats on its own?) and her bridal bouquet. ©Disney For the strap that will hold her to you, the signature gold and black design can be seen with the ride logo. We also spotted some portraits along the strap, maybe a few deceased husbands? ©Disney Based on the photos, it looks like the sipper separates at her waist. We can’t wait to grab this one once it’s on sale in Disneyland. Guests can grab this starting January 14th for $35 at the Goldenhorse Shoe, Stage Door Cafe, and Harbour Galley according to the Disneyland website. ©Disney This is a great way to grab a special souvenir before checking into the recently reopened Haunted Mansion. There are lots of great places we would recommend stopping at when you visit Disney World. Cinderella Castle Obviously, the parks are a must; several restaurants and lounges have our hearts, and you’ll always catch us on the Tomorrowland Transit Authority PeopleMover (or just simply the PeopleMover). But these are all pretty normal places to go when you’re visiting Disney World. Instead, there is one strange place we think you should stop at every time you’re at Disney World. If you’ve been following us at the Disney Food Blog for some time, then you probably know that we have a bit of an obsession with Disney World bathrooms. We can tell you exactly where all the restrooms are located in each of the parks and which ones are the best. When you’re on vacation and have to use public bathrooms, it’s a pretty important bit of knowledge to have! Pinocchio Village Haus Bathrooms Knowing where to go when you gotta go is a big deal, which is why we’re going to talk about some of our favorite bathrooms in all of Disney World — the bathrooms at the Caribbean Beach Resort Skyliner Station. Caribbean Beach Skyliner Station This Skyliner station is where you can catch either the Skyliner to Disney’s Hollywood Studios or EPCOT. If you came from Pop Century or Art of Animation Resorts, then you’ll switch Skyliners to head to the park of your choice. Or if you came from one park and are headed to the other, you’ll switch over here. It’s the central hub of the Skyliners. You can catch one of three Skyliners here The bathrooms at this Skyliner station are some of our favorites in all of Disney World. If you feel the need to go when momentarily stopping at the station, we suggest hitting the bathrooms because you’ll have a great public bathroom experience! These bathrooms are never busy, they’re super clean, and they’re QUIET. Caribbean Beach Skyliner Station Restroom Honestly, if you just need to wash your hands, this is the restroom to do it at. When many other bathrooms at Disney World get congested and can have long lines, this bathroom remains quiet and clean. It’s a great place to stop on your Disney World vacation. Caribbean Beach Skyliner Station Restroom Yes, we know we’re talking about a BATHROOM, but when you enjoy some peace, quiet, and cleanliness while you’re doing your business like we do, it’s automatically a big deal, no matter how strange it is. Living just 15 minutes away from Disney World might sound like a dream come true. And, in some ways, it absolutely is. Yes, I live just a few minutes from this! But as with most things, the reality can sometimes be a hassle! Here are some things that might surprise you about living next door to Cinderella Castle. The Magic of Proximity Let’s start with the obvious perks. Yes, I can go to Disney World whenever I want. An annual pass is a no-brainer for me because it pays for itself quickly. I can go to Animal Kingdom just to hang out in Nomad Lounge for an afternoon and not feel guilty about never riding a ride. Nomad Lounge in Disney’s Animal Kingdom Yes, I can head to EPCOT for dinner any night of the week. Yes, I think of Baseline Tap House in Disney’s Hollywood Studios as my local watering hole. BaseLine Tap House It is definitely a luxury to not feel the pressure of seeing everything on my list to get my money’s worth when I am paying hundreds or thousands for flights and a hotel. This also means if I arrive at a Disney World park and things aren’t going as planned because of crowds or the weather, I can turn right around and head out with no guilt. If it’s too crowded or hot or rainy, sometimes I just head for the exit. The Nightly Fireworks Show The big question — can I see the fireworks from my house? I get asked this a lot, and yes, I have a great view of the Magic Kingdom fireworks from my neighborhood. I can and do hear them every single night in my bedroom. I can also tell whether it is a “special” fireworks show where they shoot them off from additional locations north of the park behind the castle because those are much louder where I live. New Year’s Eve fireworks in the Magic Kingdom Telling time by them could be dangerous, though, since the times change frequently as the days get longer (or shorter). But while it was exciting at first to hear them, I will admit that it has now become routine, and that makes me a little sad. The Publix supermarket near my house also has a view of the fireworks from the parking lot. I was walking in one recent evening as the fireworks started, and I was struck by how everyone around me just treated it as ordinary. The kids didn’t even seem to be looking up. Fireworks at Magic Kingdom The Not-So-Magical Traffic Living this close to Disney World comes with some downsides, and one of them is traffic. I live in an area north of the Magic Kingdom, and I am not affected by much tourism traffic, because I don’t pass through the popular areas for hotels, etc. to get to Disney World property. But I live where many Disney Cast Members live and while they work all kinds of hours and days, many Disney employees do have a traditional 9 to 5, and there is a rush hour. Magic Kingdom Annual Passholder entrance I will opt to avoid going to Disney World between 8 and 9 AM, and leaving Disney World between 5 and 6 PM when I can for this reason. Getting My Steps In One of my favorite perks of living near Walt Disney World is using the parks to get my steps in after work. During the cooler fall and winter months, I love to head to EPCOT in the evenings to walk the park (and probably grab a festival snack for a reward). And there’s nothing better than walking Main Street, U.S.A. during the holidays! Getting my steps in in Magic Kingdom with my friend Breedlove from AllEars.net. This does become a problem when it warms up and I stop doing it because it’s too hot. I’ve gotta find a solution for that this year! Hosting Friends and Family One of the realities of living so close to a tourist destination is that you’re going to have a lot of friends and family who want to visit. I love company! BUT. It’s hard to know my visitors are having a fun day at EPCOT while I’m working! It can be challenging to focus on work and keep up with my regular routine when there are other people in my house on a fabulous vacation! I combat this by communicating with them about my schedule in advance and making plans to join them on a specific evening or weekend day. My Suffering Wallet When you live where people vacation, it can be pretty easy to justify vacation-style splurging A LOT. I am especially guilty of this with dining out. My strategy to combat overspending is to give myself a challenge – like trying a new menu item I haven’t had yet each month, and then limiting myself to plans that apply to my challenge. I want to try this Rigatoni Con Funghi at Il Mulino SOON. I am pretty minimalist and don’t collect any Disney merch, but if you do, know that if you move close to Disney World, you have lots of discount shopping options. First and foremost, a lot of our thrift shops get TONS of Disney merch. You can find Loungeflys, ears, mugs, clothing and more. I have found both really neat vintage Disney merch and merch that is still in the parks in area thrift shops. And we have two Disney Character Warehouses in the area – these outlet stores get out-of-season and unsold merch straight from the parks. They are worth checking out when you’re in town! Disney Character Warehouse Ultimately, living so close to such a famous destination is a unique experience. It’s not perfect, but it’s mine. I don’t expect to live this close to Disney World forever, so I’m definitely taking advantage of the pros and managing the cons while I’m here. We’re almost ready for liftoff. EPCOT Last year, it was announced that a brand new lounge was coming to EPCOT’s Spaceship Earth in 2025. According to Disney, the new eatery is “inspired by the stories, shapes, and enduring legacy of this timeless icon.” We hadn’t really seen many signs that work had started on this new spot despite 2025 already being here — until now. On our most recent trip to EPCOT, we took a closer look at the visible construction of the project. The lounge is going to be located in the structure at the exit of the Spaceship Earth attraction, which sits behind the iconic sphere. This area formerly housed a corporate sponsor lounge, as well as other exhibits. Spaceship Earth Lounge construction Currently, construction walls wrap around the building as work progresses towards the location’s opening, which is scheduled for the “late spring” of this year. Spaceship Earth Lounge construction In December of 2024, Disney provided some further details on the location. According to an updated description, the lounge will honor the “intertwined history of Spaceship Earth and EPCOT itself” and “celebrate the legacy of the icon’s past while admiring its future.” Disney also promised “delicious culinary creations” specially designed for the location, as well as a design that provides “breathtaking views of the park” including its nightly fireworks display. We know one thing for sure, we can’t wait to check out the views, eats, and drinks from the new Spaceship Earth lounge. We’ll be bringing you a FULL LOOK and review as soon as it’s open! ©Disney Construction is barreling ahead on the upcoming Spaceship Earth lounge, which is scheduled to open at EPCOT in the coming months. Happy 2025, DFB Readers. You may have plans to visit Disney World this year, and if you do…well, there’s a LOT going on. EPCOT You’re going to see some construction happening in Disney’s Animal Kingdom while Dinoland, U.S.A. becomes Pueblo Esperanza, a brand new land. Muppets Courtyard in Disney’s Hollywood Studios will eventually be converted into a Monsters, Inc. land. In Magic Kingdom, Big Thunder Mountain Railroad will be getting some kind of update and will be closed for at least a year, while we’ll also see construction for a new Cars expansion and Villains land. Well, EPCOT might not be as exciting to visit either…for one very important reason. Over in EPCOT, construction is underway on Test Track, which is getting reimagined as a brand new ride with new show scenes that will focus on technological advances and how our lifestyles and relationships to transportation connect us all. The ride is even getting a new entrance that will look something like this. ©Disney Concept art for the ride even shows new ride vehicles that resemble those from the World of Motion ride that existed in this space YEARS and YEARS ago. World of Motion is being used as inspiration for the new version of the ride. The new ride will also feature a queue with six NEW exhibits. ©Disney Okay, now let’s face it…there aren’t a lot of thrilling rides in EPCOT. You’ve got Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind…and…the nauseating Mission: SPACE (seriously, the orange version can RUIN your day). But Test Track has always offered a bit of a thrill experience that’s tamer, but still a lot of fun. Or, it has. However, while it’s closed, that’s one less ride to get on in EPCOT. Test Track construction Now there are folks who ALWAYS ride Test Track in EPCOT when they visit, and its extended closure is a real bummer. That alone could be enough reason to avoid EPCOT. However, the current opening timeline for the NEW Test Track is “late summer 2025.” Now, late summer could mean as late as September, which means Test Track could be down for the majority of the year. That also doesn’t take into account if there ends up being a delay on its reopening, which does happen in Disney World. Lots of work to be done So if you’re visiting EPCOT in 2025 with hopes of riding Test Track, you may end up disappointed. Your favorite ride might still be sitting behind construction walls depending on when you visit. Of course, there are plenty of other things to do in EPCOT, so it may not impact your trip THAT much. But if you’re a fan, you’ll certainly miss it. Stay tuned to DFB for more. This one is for the annual passholders! Annual Pass! There are several perks for Disney World Annual Passholders like dining discounts, merchandise discounts, and more. One of those little perks is Good to Go days and we have more info about those dates in 2025! Good-to-Go Days were introduced in January 2024 as a way for annual passholders to head to the parks without needing park reservations. Good-to-Go Days pop up automatically when you go to the MyDisneyExperience app but we’ve noticed they were missing for the last few months of 2024 — likely because this is Disney World’s busy season! Disney World Annual Passholder Entrance The days were released seemingly randomly, even though we’re sure Disney has their reasons, and now we finally have some dates for 2025! ©Disney If you have any level of a Disney annual pass, you can head straight into the parks at any time without a reservation on: January 7th January 8th January 13th January 14th January 15th These days offer convenience and flexibility that remind us of the time before the reservation system plagued us! Disney did share that the reservation calendar will be flexible throughout the year, so remember to check for those little green circles before you head to the parks. Annual Passholder magnet As a quick reminder, only annual passholders and people with non-date-based tickets still need a theme park reservation before heading inside the parks. For annual passholders, you can visit any of the theme parks after 2 PM without a reservation unless the park has reached capacity. You will still need a reservation for Magic Kingdom on Saturdays and Sundays regardless of time. Magic Kingdom While we love a nice Good-to-Go Day, we were selfishly hoping that no reservation-free days in 2025 might hint at the possibility of seeing the reservation system gone for good but, hey, one can only dream! Beggers can’t be choosers we guess so for now, we will happily enjoy our Good-to-Go days. Don’t forget to keep following DisneyFoodBlog for more news and updates. The holiday crowds may have largely left Disney World, but now runDisney crowds have begun to sneak their way for the first event of the year. Blizzard Beach That’s not all though — cold weather has also snuck its way into Orlando and while yes, it is winter, temperatures are DROPPING! This week in Disney World will be a cold one, so replace your bathing suit with your long layers and jacket because Blizzard Beach will be CLOSED! It’s not often that any of the Disney World parks close for anything, but the water parks will close if the temperature drops too low for the safety of both the Cast Members and park guests. According to Disney World’s website, Blizzard Beach is currently not showing any operating hours for January 7th or 8th. ©Disney If temperatures continue to stay low, it’s possible the park could continue to be closed for additional days this week. When it’s winter time in the parks and you’re contemplating buying yourself a ticket for a Disney World water park, we strongly encourage you to check the weather ahead of time and maybe not buy your ticket until closer to your trip if you can help it. Blizzard Beach Now, if you’ve bought a ticket for the water park and it happens to be closed on that day, Disney likely won’t issue you a refund, but you will be able to use that ticket at the water park in the future. While that’s great, we know it’s not ideal to have your plans changed as such, so unless you’re really set on visiting the water park during a colder part of the year, we say it’s best to leave it for a spring or summer trip. Today, January 6th, began the extended temporary closure of Big Thunder Mountain Railroad at Magic Kingdom. Big Thunder Mountain Railroad is closed This popular ride in Disney World will be closed for at least a year, reopening sometime in 2026 with a “little bit of new magic.” If you wanted to ride it one last time, you were able to do so on Sunday, January 5th, but now you will have to wait at least a year before hopping on “The Wildest Ride in the Wilderness” once again. With the closure, we noticed Disney made another small but impactful change at Magic Kingdom! This may be a small change on the park map, but it’s a big change for everyone who might want to ride this attraction in the coming year. Big Thunder is temporarily closed We stopped by Big Thunder Mountain Railroad on the first day of its closure and noticed construction walls have already gone up around the ride. Entrance blocked The walls join the giant crane that has been setting just behind the ride, which may be getting used for the new Villains Land or for the refurbishment of Big Thunder. A crane has already shown up behind Big Thunder Mountain Railroad We’re not sure what “new magic” Disney has in store for Big Thunder Mountain Railroad or when the ride will eventually reopen, but we’ll be keeping track of any new updates. In the meantime, you’ll be able to use the new park maps to help you plan your day at Magic Kingdom! For more Disney news, keep following DFB! Gather ’round my internet besties because it’s time to get PARASOCIAL! ©Disneyland | Kathryn Hahn Real relationships are “out” for 2025 and being obsessed with strangers’ relationships is SO “in.” Okay, let’s be real, that’s been “in” basically ever since social media gave us unfettered access to most celebrities and random people on the internet. But, I digress, because LOVE IS REAL and this latest celebrity engagement proves it. The internet’s current favorite couple is FINALLY engaged! That’s right, Disney stars turned all-out Hollywood icons Tom Holland and Zendaya are headed down the aisle, according to The Hollywood Reporter. ©Getty Images Rumors that the two were engaged had been swirling around the gossip mill for a WHILE, but TMZ confirmed that the longtime couple is officially engaged. The rumors were bolstered by Zendaya’s choice of jewelry on the Golden Globes red carpet this past Sunday night, January 5th. The actress is known for her red carpet looks, but has typically kept her ring finger clear of anything — until she stepped onto the red carpet. ©Getty Images Fashion insiders and fans quickly noted that the ring was not made by Bulgari despite the fact that Zendaya is an ambassador of the luxury brand — meaning she’s contractually obligated to wear it — and the rest of her jewelry was. Later during the awards ceremony, streaming service Max (home to Euphoria, the series for which Zendaya has won multiple Emmys) appeared to confirm the news with a post showing off the ring with a clip from the show that said, “I have never, ever been happier.” As of now, no representatives for Zendaya or Tom Holland have confirmed the news, which isn’t too surprising as they’ve remained quite private about their relationship over the years. But, sources told TMZ that Holland popped the question at some point between Christmas and New Year’s and kept it low-key. Apparently, he “dropped to one knee in a very intimate setting in one of Zendaya’s family homes in the United States.” The two co-stars turned couple have both recently joined the cast of Christopher Nolan’s upcoming epic The Odyssey as well. ©Getty Images We’re happy for the newly engaged couple and wish them all the best (but from a safe distance knowing they’ll never read this because we’re totally cool and normal people). A new nighttime parade called Disney Starlight: Dream the Night Away is coming to Magic Kingdom this year and we couldn’t be more excited! Magic Kingdom However, along with all the other changes that are hitting the park soon — Tom Sawyer Island and the Liberty Square Riverboat closing to make way for the new Cars-themed land, the new Villains Land being built behind Big Thunder Mountain Railroad (and therefore Big Thunder’s closure for at least a year), the new Pirates Tavern coming to Adventureland, and more — we’re starting to realize that there’s a lot more to this new parade that meets the eye. Honestly, we’re a little nervous — here’s why. With all the construction on the way to the park, we’re highly anticipating that construction walls around the parade route will leave certain spots less than desirable. Right now, Frontierland is where the parade kicks off, and it’s a popular spot for families and guests who don’t want to be in the madness of Main Street. Festival of Fantasy Construction walls are going to make finding places to stand in Frontierland and Liberty Square far more difficult than before. While we usually recommend getting a good parade spot near the castle at least an hour before show, the same will soon apply to Frontierland — especially when taking into account how nighttime parades are typically more crowded than daytime ones. ©Disney We also don’t mean to be the bearer of bad news…but a new nighttime parade with a different theme than what we see in the parks right now could mean some changes for the Festival of Fantasy Parade as we know it. Now, this isn’t guaranteed at all, and we’re HOPING it won’t happen, but we are trying to prepare ourselves, and you all, for the possibility. Ariel in the Festival of Fantasy parade Finally, if you thought evenings and nights were busy in Magic Kingdom already, a new nighttime parade will bring that to the next level. Depending on the times of the shows, people may stay after fireworks instead of leaving like many of them do now, which typically results in lower wait times all over the parks. Although, whether Disney has one before fireworks and one after or both after fireworks, the first one will always be more crowded, so keep that in mind when you’re planning! ©Disney We’ll be sure to keep you updated on all the latest news we hear, so be sure to stay tuned to DFB! It’s a sad, sad day, friends. Big Thunder Mountain Railroad has officially CLOSED for a lengthy refurbishment in Magic Kingdom. Big Thunder Mountain Railroad We spent the ride’s final day keeping an eye on crowds and wait times, and now that the ride has officially closed we’re back in the park to see if anything has changed at the Wildest Ride in the Wilderness. While we don’t have many details on the ride’s refurbishment so far, we can’t wait to see what Disney has planned! Big Thunder Mountain Railroad has officially closed for a lengthy refurbishment, making Frontierland in Magic Kingdom just a little less appealing for now. While it doesn’t look like too much has changed over at the ride itself — there aren’t too many massive construction walls up everywhere just yet, we did notice a more low-key construction wall blocking the entrance so folks can’t head into the queue. Entrance blocked You’ll also find some more construction walls out in front of the ride, showing that sadly, it really is closed for the foreseeable future! More construction walls We recently learned that Disney filed a new Notice of Commencement on January 3rd, 2025, for Big Thunder Mountain Railroad. The document is for general construction to be done by Coast Steel Inc. of Lake Buena Vista, Florida. Closed for now What we found most interesting is that the expiration date on the Notice of Commencement is March 13th, 2026. Usually, these permits expire one year after they are recorded unless a different date is specified. In this case, the date of March 13th, 2026, was specified, leading us to believe this closure may last until the spring of 2026. Whee! Of course, Disney hasn’t made any official announcements or revealed many details about what this refurbishment will entail, or when the ride may reopen when all is said and done. For now, the ride remains closed leaving Tiana’s Bayou Adventure to takeover as the main ride in Frontierland! In the meantime, we’ll be on the lookout for the latest updates from Magic Kingdom and the rest of Disney World. Make sure you stay tuned to the Disney Food Blog for more news from Disney World! What does Disney World look like on a sold-out day?! Cinderella Castle In early 2024, Disney World got rid of its park pass reservation system for the majority of its guests — those with date-based tickets. However, Annual Passholders and other people with specific tickets still need to make reservations. Park pass reservations can “sell out” on busier days, meaning that those folks will be blocked out from visiting the parks that are “sold out” — and that’s exactly what happened on Monday, January 6th. BAD NEWS if you’re in Disney World today because things are CROWDED! Park pass reservations are completely sold out for Annual Passholders and others with specific tickets — so if you haven’t already snagged a reservation and still need one, you might be out of luck. We headed into the parks to check things out and see what you might be up against if you’re in the parks today. Over at EPCOT, things didn’t seem too crowded, at least near the entrance… EPCOT entrance …but as we moved further into the park, things started getting a little bit more chaotic. The end of the line for Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure in the France Pavilion went all the way down the promenade, around the corner, and around the corner a SECOND time into the original part of the pavilion. That’s a LONG line! Over at Magic Kingdom, things were looking a lot more crowded — which isn’t that surprising, since that’s how things normally go at this park. We spotted quite a congested area near Seven Dwarfs Mine Train and the rest of Fantasyland! Crowds Keep in mind that even if you can’t get into your chosen park at the moment, you will still likely be able to visit another park while you’re waiting to see if your first park of choice has any capacity free up (this does occasionally happen but isn’t a sure thing!). Your best bet is to keep checking on all four parks to see if there is any room. Unfortunately, all four parks were sold out on January 6th — so unless lots of people leave and more room opens up, you’re out of luck if you were hoping to snag a last-minute park reservation today. Fantasyland crowds Another thing to note if you’re visiting during busier times of the year is that Disney World will typically send out notifications through the My Disney Experience app when a park reaches capacity. However, if you want to check before you head to a park on one of these busy days, you can also call the park capacity hotline at (407) 560-5000. You’ll be able to find out quickly which parks have reached capacity and which ones are still available. It’s also a good idea to call this phone number if you want to park hop — because even if you are “in” at one park, when you get to your next one, you could be turned away if it reaches capacity. We even saw several rides with wait times well over an hour and creeping up into the multi-hour mark… ©Disney Hopefully, the crowd levels will start to even out as the holiday rush is finally coming to an end. Of course, Disney World crowds are unpredictable and you never know what you may be walking into on any given day. Luckily, you have us to keep up with the latest crowd info and wait times! Look, we get it. When you’re climbing in and out of the Space Mountain rockets, the last thing you want is some fussy dress or flappy skirt. And when you’re traversing all over EPCOT under the scorching rays of the relentless sun, as they so nicely put it on Living with the Land, you don’t want to wear a layered look with multiple parts and pieces. You probably want athletic shorts, a simple tank top or t-shirt, and a good old pair of sneakers. Sorry, Mickey! But we can’t all look that good in Disney World. Mickey and Minnie in the Imagination Pavilion But there are exceptions to every rule! So even though we just told you it makes the most sense to wear comfortable clothing to Disney World, there is one park where that special outfit might deserve its chance to shine. DISCLOSURE: This post may contain affiliate links, meaning when you click the links and make a purchase, we receive a commission. If you’re traveling to Disney World with your family, you’re going to need to take some family photos to prove 1.) You really did go to Disney World, and 2.) You had FUN with your family (shh — we’re not gonna talk about that moment when everyone got a little hangry). Of course, we recommend a photo in front of Cinderella Castle. It’s a classic! You can’t beat that view! But here’s the thing. We have a lot of photos in front of the castle, and some are REALLY good. Others? Well…they might not be as cute. What’s holding us back? Our outfits. If you really think about it, it’s pretty weird to be in the presence of a literal castle in workout clothing, right? If you have a nicer outfit — just one slightly dressy outfit — this is the time to wear it. Snap those photos while you’ve got on your nice clothes, OK?! Think dapper! Your Magic Kingdom park day is arguably the most important day of your trip, so if you’ve got matching shirts for your family, coordinating Disney-themed looks, or even a good old Mickey shirt, this is the place to bust it out. Our Happy Place matching shirts have arrived! Your family photos will look SO MUCH better if you manage to get the family to wear something nice on vacation! Disney Magic Keyholders, this is a perk you need to know about! Disneyland From exclusive popcorn buckets to dining discounts, there are several perks to being a season ticket holder to the original Disney theme park! Now there’s a new one that might really save you some cash. Starting today, January 6th, Magic Key Holders will be able to get a big discount on Lightning Lane Multi Pass in Disneyland! Previously, Magic Key Holders could get up to 25% off during select times of the year but now you can access the skip-the-line service for 50% off! Mag Key holders sign The discount is running from January 6th, 2025 until January 31st, 2025. Magic Key sales aren’t always on sale with sales being currently paused right now. If you’re looking to become a season ticket holder this year, you can expect tickets to be on sale at some point in 2025 which we will update you on as soon as sales are announced! Matterhorn Bobsleds Lightning Lane in Disneyland Just to give a quick reminder, Disney’s newest skip-the-line service is Lightning Lane Muli Pass and Lightning Lane Single Pass. The Multi Pass service replaced Genie+ in July 2024 over in Disneyland. Prices for Muli Pass start at $30 a day per person with prices varying by date. This service can sell out so it’s not a guarantee for every single day you’re visiting. Lightning Lane at Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway Lightning Lane Multi Pass gives you access to most of the lightning lanes in Disneyland or Disney California Adventure. If you’re using the service, you can select one lightning lane once you enter the park and make another one once your first lightning lane is used. You have a one-hour return time window and your next selection will be based on availability. This is different from the way that Lightning Lane Multi Pass operates in Disney World so make sure you know the difference between the two if you’re going to both theme parks. Lightning Lanes Getting 50% off of Lightning Lanes this month is a major perk for Magic Key holders so make sure to take advantage of it if you’re able. It’s a new year in Disney World and Disney has already revealed its first free Disney Dining Plan offer of the year. Gingerbread Salted Caramel Buttercream Cookie Sandwich In case you missed it, you can now get the Disney Dining Plan FOR FREE if you book a vacation package with a hotel room and theme park tickets for the following dates: May 27th through June 26th and July 7th through August 6th, 2025. You’ll need to book your package by February 10th, but if you’re interested in how to best use those Dining Plan snack credits in EPCOT (one of our favorite places in Disney World to grab a snack), we’ve got you covered. What is the Disney Dining Plan? The Disney Dining Plan is an optional add-on to your Disney World vacation package. Once you’ve paid to add the Dining Plan to your vacation package, you have basically prepaid for your meals during your trip. Once you arrive in Disney World, you’ll want to visit a participating restaurant, eat, and scan your MagicBand, Key to the World card, or Disney MagicMobile pass. Credits for your food will be deducted from your pre-paid allotment. Note that gratuity is not included, so you still need to tip. Food at Diamond Horseshoe in Magic Kingdom There are two versions of the Dining Plan: the Quick Service Disney Dining Plan or the Standard Disney Dining Plan. Both plans include one snack credit for each day of your stay (note you don’t have to use them in any given day). You can use those snack credits on eligible snacks and drinks in Disney World. So how can you best use those snack credits in EPCOT to get as much value out of the Dining Plan as possible? We’ll tell you! Here’s what you’ll want to get. Learn more about the Dining Plan here Churro Sundae at La Cantina de San Angel — $7.99 Yep, out of habit, we’re starting in Mexico (#sorrynotsorry). So let’s talk about the Churro Sundae because it’s not just DELICIOUS, but it’s also $8, which means if you use a snack credit for it, you’re getting a great value out of it. This fun treat is made with mango Dole Whip, layered with whipped cream, and topped with lime Dole Whip and colorful green, red, and white sprinkles — yep, ALL our favorite things. Churro sundae It’s fruity, it’s got miniature churros in it, what more could you want? Read our review here Mickey Cinnamon Roll at Kringla Bakery Og Kafe – $7.49 Okay, so we’ll admit that the first thing we always get at Kringla Bakery Og Kafe is the School Bread. But if you’re using snack credits, it’s not as good of a value as the Mickey Cinnamon Roll, which generally costs more. One thing we do love about this snack, though, is that it is a pretty decent size so you can share it. Mickey Cinnamon Roll It’s a solid cinnamon roll AND a solid snack and at $7.49, you’re getting the most out of that snack credit you’ll use for it. Read our full review of this cinnamon roll Sweet Pretzels at Kringla Bakeri Og Kafe — $7 But, wait! Before you leave Norway, you might also want to pick up either the Sweet Pretzel with Chocolate or the Sweet Pretzel with Almonds because they’re $7 and also offer a good use of your snack credits. These are SUPER popular, and for good reason — they’re delicious! Sweet Pretzel with Chocolate So if you’re looking for another sweet treat while you’re visiting with Anna and Elsa, there you go. Ultimate Guide To The Best Snacks At EPCOT Werthers Caramel Popcorn at Karamell Küche — $7.99 If you get ANY snack at EPCOT’s Germany Pavilion, you must get the caramel popcorn because it is made fresh and it is delicious. But also, at almost $8, you’re getting a good use of a snack credit. How perfect is that? We often grab a bag of this to take home because it travels so well. We LOVE this popcorn! Karamell Küche uses a certain kind of popcorn, too, so that the caramel sticks to the kernel better. You can even watch your popcorn getting made in the shop when you order it. YUM. Learn how this popcorn is made Caramel Gingerbread Cookie Sandwich at Karamell Küche for $7.79 Let’s stay in Germany because one of our ALL-TIME favorite snacks is here, although it sometimes goes away and is often just a seasonal snack. But if it’s an option, GET the Caramel Gingerbread Cookie Sandwich, which is also a worthy way to use a snack credit. Caramel Gingerbread Cookie Sandwich You get two delicious soft gingerbread cookies sandwiched with Werthers caramel and salted caramel buttercream frosting. This could be the most perfect snack that ever existed. Read a review! The American Dream at Fife and Drum for $7 The American Dream is THE specialty drink at the American Adventure Pavilion and it’s going to be a great snack to grab with a credit on a hot Florida day. It’s a slushy made with Frozen Fanta Wild Cherry, vanilla soft serve, and Frozen Fanta Blue Raspberry, and the colors are layered in red, white, and blue. American Dream This is also a good snack to please kids with and being able to use a snack credit for it, even better, right? Read our review of this drink Mickey Pretzel with Cheese Sauce at Block and Hans — $8 Before you leave the great U.S.A., though, be sure to stop by Block and Hans to get a classic Mickey Pretzel with cheese sauce. At $8, you’re getting your money’s worth with the dining plan snack credit you’ll use for it. Plus, PLASTIC CHEEEEESSSSSEEEEE. Mickey Pretzel with cheese sauce Why you’re there, you can grab a beer to go with that pretzel (although you’ll have to use your extra money for that). What’s more classic than a pretzel and beer? Read our Block and Hans review Kakigori at Kabuki Cafe — $7 Looking for a nice refreshing treat on a hot day? Use that snack credit for a Kakigori (basically, the Japanese version of a snow cone). You can use that credit for one flavor, but you may even be able to add additional flavors and sweetened condensed milk, too, on that credit (but be sure to ask the Cast Member there to be sure). Kakigori We recommend the sweetened condensed milk because it really turns a basic snow cone into a LOT more. Read a review of Kabuki Cafe Traditional Poutine at Refreshment Port — $7.50 You’ll find the unassuming Refreshment Port near Canada, so it makes sense that this is where you can get a Traditional Poutine with a snack credit. This is a classic poutine with french fries, beef gravy, and cheese curds — it doesn’t get more Canadian than that, right? Traditional Poutine from Refreshment Port The thing we love about using a snack credit for the poutine is that it really feels more like a small meal, so you’re kinda’ getting a meal for a cheaper snack credit. SCORE. Read our review of this classic poutine Liege Waffle at Connections Eatery — $5.79 Okay, so $5.79 isn’t a GREAT value for the snack credit, but if you get the Liege Waffle at the Connections Eatery (NOT the cafe), you get a Liege Waffle topped with strawberries, whipped cream, and chocolate sauce, so you’re getting a pretty filling snack. Liege Waffle Every time we eat this, it makes us feel like we’re eating a fancy festival item, but you can get this version of the Liege waffle ALL through the year. Read our review of this waffle Black Garlic, Truffle, and Parmesan Fries at Connections Eatery — $6.49 So here’s a new snack that you HAVE to try — our reporters absolutely LOVE THESE. It’s the Black Garlic, Truffle, and Parm Fries at Connections Eatery and they are SO good. Think loaded fries, but elevated. They’re topped with black garlic-truffle aioli and parmesan cheese. YAS. Black garlic, truffle, and parm fries Granted, these aren’t exclusive to EPCOT because you can also get them at a couple of locations in Magic Kingdom, but they’re a good use of a snack credit on the Dining Plan. Read our review of these fries So if you’re going to be using the Disney Dining Plan in Disney World this year, make a note to get the MOST out of your snack credits with these treats in EPCOT. Calling all Hulu fans, this is something you’ll want to know! ©Hulu There are so many streaming services like Disney+, Hulu, ESPN+, and more, making it almost hard to choose what to watch! Now two streaming services are merging making the choice a little bit easier. Disney’s Hulu+ Live TV and Fubo are merging together! Fubo, which launched in 2014, is a streaming and Live TV service that offers similar features to cable TV, much like Hulu Live TV. ©Fubo The two companies announced the merger on Monday, January 6th. The merger will make the Disney Company the majority owner of Fubo giving them 70% of the ownership. The two streaming services together have 6.2 million subscribers and will still be available separately even after the deal goes through. So how does this impact Hulu subscribers? Disney+ Hulu bundle Hulu+ Live TV will still be available through the Hulu app and the Disney+ bundle if it’s available in your subscription. It will give Fubo users access to the different things streaming live through Hulu+ Live TV but it won’t give Fubo users access to Hulu. This means shows like “Only Murders In The Building” or “The Handmaid’s Tale” won’t be available to Fubo streamers. ©Hulu This deal also includes Fubo and Disney settling their litigation over Venu, a proposed streaming service by Disney, Fox, and Warner Bros. Discovery. Fubo previously brought a lawsuit against Disney claiming the streaming service would be “anticompetitive” leading to a judge blocking the launch of the app, according to CNBC. Venu Sports This merger will give Fubo and Hulu+ Live TV users a bit more to stream without any major changes at the time of writing. According to Bloomberg, this will make it the number 2 digital pay-TV provider following YouTube TV. Follow AllEars.Net for more Disney news and updates.
