Major changes are about to hit Disney World. Magic Kingdom It was announced that Disney World would be getting eight new rides, which is super exciting, but in order to enjoy these rides, we have to deal with construction. You can expect to see construction in all four parks starting in 2025. Not only does construction mean walls around the parks, but it also means that we can expect lengthy closures, like Big Thunder Mountain’s year-long closure in Magic Kingdom. At D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event, we finally learned what would lie “Beyond Big Thunder Mountain.” Fans have been calling for it for years, and now it is finally coming to fruition. A Disney Villains Land is coming to Magic Kingdom, and Disney just shared a look at some of the villains who will be part of this expansion! The new Villains Land coming to Magic Kingdom will feature fan-favorite Disney Villains from popular Walt Disney Animation Studios films and two new attractions. This new land would go right behind Big Thunder Mountain, and we have already seen some scrims around the attraction. We’ve already spotted some construction Disney announced that the wildest ride in the wilderness would close to undergo a lengthy refurbishment. The attraction will close on January 6th, 2025, and won’t reopen until 2026! No exact date has been given, so this refurbishment has the potential to last over a year! Big Thunder It was not confirmed that the attraction is closing to accommodate Villains land construction, but we have a feeling that it is part of the reason why the attraction will be closed for so long. On the refurbishment calendar for Big Thunder Mountain, it says that the ride will reopen “with a little bit of new magic.” ©Disney This closure could have a considerable impact on crowds and wait times throughout Magic Kingdom. Currently, to ride Tiana’s Bayou Adventure, you have to obtain a boarding group through Virtual Queue or purchase a Lightning Lane Multi Pass to enter the attraction through Lightning Lane. This makes Tiana’s Bayou Adventure not accessible to everyone. Tiana’s Bayou Adventure in Magic Kingdom With limited options to ride Tiana’s Bayou Adventure and the closure of Big Thunder Mountain, two major attractions on both sides of the park could affect waits all around the rest of the park. In order to ride you need to have a Lightning Lane or Virtual Queue While no date has been given, it was confirmed that construction would start on the new Cars expansion, which would mean that Tom Sawyer Island and the Rivers of America would close, meaning even fewer options would be available in Frontierland. The endangered Tom Sawyer Island The closures at Disney World will challenge the upcoming years, so make sure to plan ahead and continue to follow along with Disney Food Blog, as we are always on the lookout for the latest Disney news! The holiday season may have arrived right after Halloween in Disney World, but it’s in FULL swing right now ahead of the EPCOT Festival of the Holidays. Christmas is here! That means ALL the holiday decorations have gone up, the Christmas trees are shining bright in the lobbies of Disney World hotels, and holiday snacks are literally turning up everywhere. But you know us — we love a good challenge, so once again, this year, we’re going to try to eat ALL the holiday snacks we can get our hands on. For this round, we’re hitting up Disney’s Hollywood Studios to get you reviews of EVERYTHING you should — or should not — eat in Disney World this holiday season. First up, let’s grab some Starbucks because we’re going to need it. We’re headed to Trolley Car Cafe for some coffee, but also for the Winter Spice Mini Whoopie Pie, which is spice cake filled with orange buttercream and cranberry-raspberry jam topped with a candied orange peel, cranberry, holiday sprinkles, sweet snow, and a plant-based chocolate tree for $6.29. Okay, HELLO, because this thing SURPRISED US. Winter Spice Whoopie Pie A fruity whoopie pie didn’t sound super appealing, but the orange buttercream and cranberry raspberry jam just…well…JAM with the spice cake. The cake itself is moist and we love that this isn’t an super sugary treat. It’s almost refreshing. The toppings are also a lot of fun and we like the crunch from the sprinkles. This is a great dessert for pickier eaters who want to step just a LITTLE outside their comfort zone. All the flavors come together Let’s head on over to Dockside Diner to try the Red Velvet Holiday Milk Shake for $9.79. It’s a Red Velvet Milk Shake swirled with Chocolate Sauce topped with Whipped Cream, Rainbow Sprinkles, and a Holiday Tree Sugar Cookie. This shake is a monstrosity, and the whipped cream just kept splattering everywhere because there’s so much of it. But it gets better: when we went to take the first sip, well, the shake was SO thick we couldn’t get a sip! Red Velvet Holiday Milkshake We waited a bit hoping it would melt a bit, but nope. We ended up bringing a spoon to this milk shake party. In the end, this turned out to be a glorified Wendy’s Frosty, so it didn’t blow our minds. The chocolate taste from the syrup was artificial and we couldn’t get a red velvet flavor out of it at all. Even the sugar cookie tasted like the kind you get from your grocery store. Anyway, for all that, we just ended up a sticky mess. It’s so messy Oh, well, you can’t win them all. So we washed ourselves up and headed to Rosie’s All-American Cafe for the Coquito Wreath Cupcake for $5.99. This is a coquito custard-filled vanilla cupcake topped with coquito buttercream, chocolate bow, gold crispy pearls, and rainbow sprinkles. We have to say that this is a solid cupcake. We were skeptical, though, because when we got it, it was very cold. We thought it would be hard to bite into or fall apart, but nope, it held up well and was easy to eat. Coquito Wreath Cupcake The icing isn’t a super heavy buttercream, but a lighter buttercream — we appreciated that. It’s light, although there is a LOT of it on top of this baby. The inside filling is that coquito mix, which is nice. The whole thing tastes light and cinnamony, just like the drink it’s based on. The decorations on top are a lot of fun, plus they add crunch. It’s cute, but in the end, it IS just a cupcake. But at least it’s a tasty one! A nice coquito-flavored filling We proceeded to Backlot Express to grab the Gingerbread Cheesecake for $5.99. It’s a gingerbread cheesecake on a vanilla cookie topped with milk chocolate ganache, dulce de leche whipped cream, gingerbread chocolate décor, gold crispy pearls, and holiday sprinkles. Excuse me, but look at how CUTE this snack is! LOVE it! Gingerbread Cheesecake The good news is that it tastes as good as it looks. It tastes like a high-quality cheesecake, and the choice of dulce de leche whipped cream on the gingerbread cheesecake-iness (yes, it’s a word, or at least it is now) is PERFECTION. It just goes well with the tanginess of the cheesecake as well as the sweetness of the chocolate ganache. The crispy pearls add a nice crunch. The cookie at the bottom was nice and buttery, although that flavor was mostly overpowered by the cheesecake. Although we felt a little bad eating the gingerbread man, he was yummy, too — he was made with good-quality milk chocolate. It’s delicious! Okay, we’re happy again. So, on to the next snack. Over at ABC Commissary, you can get the Linzer Cookie Mousse Torte, made with layers of hazelnut cake, raspberry-blackcurrant mousse, raspberry jam, and sweet snow-dusted Linzer cookie for $6.29. Okay, YUM. Next, we LOVE the presentation. We like the freshness of the raspberry jam, which was nicely complemented by the blackcurrant for its beautiful fruity flavor. Linzer Cookie Mousse Torte The cookie was nice — it’s not a crunchy cookie, but a soft one, and we liked that. The cake was dry and crumbly, especially compared to all that jam and mousse. But somehow, it worked out. There’s also a hint of hazelnut flavor, but the fruity flavors are the star of this snack. SO fruity Let’s head on over to Toy Story Land and visit Woody’s Lunch Box. There, we got the Hot Cocoa Lunch Box Tart, which has Chocolate fudge filling, hot chocolate marshmallow fondant, and mini marshmallows. So our reporter isn’t always a fan of the lunch box tarts here, but this one was a winner! The chocolate is nice and fudgy inside, and it tastes exactly like a hot cocoa-flavored pop tart! Hot Cocoa Lunch Box Tart This is one of the better lunch box tarts at Woody’s. It’s also super cute. However, we have to say that at the end of the day, it’s still just an elevated pop tart. But, hey, sometimes, that’s just what you want. It’s pretty good! So, yeah, that’s a LOT of snacks, and we’re really just getting started. As we said, the EPCOT Festival of the Holidays is coming up soon, and we’ll be trying ALL the food booths there, too. So stay tuned to DFB for more. Are you planning a trip to Disney World? Magic Kingdom There’s a lot to think about. You’ll need to figure out a budget. Then, you’ll need to figure out where you want to stay and which park tickets you need. After that, you’ll have to figure out transportation. But you might not be thinking about something else: what to do on your first day in Disney World. Here’s the thing: if you get to Disney World EARLY in the day, you might just want to hit the parks ASAP, and we’ve got a Disney World rule that could make that a whole lot easier. If you want to head STRAIGHT to the parks, do not skip go, do not visit the hotel first (especially if your room isn’t ready), and hit the ground running, you can take your luggage WITH you to the theme parks. Like, just grab that Uber at Orlando International Airport and book a ride directly to EPCOT (or whichever park you want to visit first). EPCOT entrance But you might be like, “Um…what about that luggage? I am NOT hauling that around all day.” Well, YOU DON’T HAVE TO. That’s because you’ll find locker rentals near the front entrance of EVERY Disney park. You have a choice of two sizes: a small locker, which is 12″ x 10″ x 17″ and costs $10 per day, or a large (which is probably what you’ll want with luggage), which is 15.5″ x 13″ x 17″ and costs $12 per day. You’ll find exact locations on the My Disney Experience app (or you can ask a Cast Member). You’ll need to go to the touchscreen at each locker rental location to start if you’re paying with cash or a major credit card. EPCOT locker rental If you’d like to use your MagicBand or MagicBand+ or a gift card to pay, you can visit the store nearest the lockers for help, where a Cast Member can process the rental for you and give you a code to input into the self-service kiosk, which will provide you access to a locker. EPCOT lockers Then you go to the locker you’ve been assigned, store your stuff, and GO! Just remember to go back to the locker at the end of your park day to retrieve your things. See how easy that is? EPCOT Note that you will also find locker rentals at Disney World’s water parks, which could come in handy if you qualify for the free water park ticket perk that goes into effect for Disney World hotel guests in 2025. We are enjoying all the holiday treat offerings Disney World is offering this year! Le Petit at Disney’s Riviera Resort The next stop on our holiday snacking tour is over at Disney’s Riviera Resort. Le Petit Café is a small French café where you can grab some tasty coffee and pastries in the morning and wine and hors d’oeuvres in the evening. There is a variety of French pastries served here, from tarts to macarons to croissants and more. Seasonal offerings are also commonly offered here, so we stopped by to grab a couple of holiday treats! Over at Le Petit, we grabbed ourselves the Gingerbread Eggnog Entremet (new) and the Gingerbread Cookie! We can’t wait to dive in! The Gingerbread Cookie is a European-style gingerbread with dark chocolate and a sugar glaze. You can grab it at Le Petit for $4.99. Gingerbread Cookie The European gingerbread was great! It was soft and fluffy on the inside and really, very good gingerbread. We prefer the gingerbread to almost any other gingerbread we’ve had so far this year. However, they should have just left the gingerbread alone. The sugar glaze was too much. It added a crunch on top that the fluffy cookie just didn’t need. Then, the chocolate that was on the back took it overboard. The milky chocolate taste on the bottom, then cushiony gingerbread in the center, and the crunchy glaze on top didn’t make for a great texture sandwich for us. Honestly, it didn’t need to do this much or go this hard. We would have loved this if it was simply JUST the gingerbread cookie without all the extra distractions. Milk chocolate back Next, we tried the new Gingerbread Eggnog Entremet for $7.29. This is a gingerbread financier with eggnog panna cotta and raspberry gel, and it was a bit of a high price for what we got, but it was still good. Gingerbread Eggnog Entremet The raspberry gel was delicious! You can definitely taste the raspberry, and it tastes very fresh. The panna cotta had a great consistency for a panna cotta. It was like a pudding that stayed together really well, like a panna cotta should. It has a nice, light eggnog flavor. You can definitely taste the eggnog, so you’ll need to like eggnog to enjoy this treat. The treat had a nice texture and consistency The financier is where the gingerbread is, and it’s very, very soft and moist. It’s not crumbly or crunchy like you might expect a gingerbread cookie to be. Overall, the treat is definitely on the fancier side, and for $7.29, you’re getting a fairly small dessert with a hole in the middle. It’s a great treat to splurge on, but we probably wouldn’t get it every time we’re at Le Petit. It’s a little pricey Le Petit wasn’t our only stop at the Riviera. We also stopped by Primo Piatto, a quick-service restaurant that has a grab-and-go selection. Primo Piatto We grabbed the seasonal Apple-Fragipane Tart for $6.99 here. It is a puff pastry with fall spice frangipane, apples, and whipped mascarpone panna cotta. Apple-Frangipane Tart This tart reminded us a lot of an apple pie with a crisp, crunchy crust. However, we would have liked more tartness from the apples. The mascarpone panna cotta adds a bit of a sour taste to the treat, but the apples are just really sweet without any tartness you might get from granny smith apples in an apple pie. It’s a good mix of sour and sweet, but we might have expected even more of the tartness. The apples were crisp with a crunchy snap as you bite into them, but the middle is soft and gel-like, so it will likely get a little messy on you if you’re walking and eating it. Overall, this was a solid treat that we would grab again! It’s really soft and messy on the inside! If you’re looking for some good holiday treats to splurge on, you might want to consider heading over to the Riviera Resort! You can catch the Skyliner from several other hotels or from Hollywood Studios or EPCOT to swing by for a quick snack. For more Disney food news, keep following DFB! You might be familiar with the EPCOT Food & Wine Festival, but do you know about Disney World’s OTHER food and wine festival that doesn’t even require a park ticket? It’s the Swan and Dolphin Food & Wine Classic held at the Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin. For this festival, you buy a ticket and that gets you unlimited access to all the food booths at the festival, meaning ALL the food you can eat and drink. Well, we’ve tried everything and we’re giving you our opinion on the BEST things to try at the festival. This year’s festival included over 100 booths, so going through ALL the food was a daunting task — but you know we’re up for the challenge! The food booths include offerings from restaurants at the Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin, as well as the Swan Reserve Resort. Well, out of ALL that food, we’re going to tell you about our favorites! Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin Food and Wine Classic media event Shaved Asparagus Salad from Todd English’s bluezoo The Shaved Asparagus Salad has Carved Cured Yellowfin Tuna, Miso Egg Yolk, Yuzu Kewpie, and Sliced Raw Shallot. This salad had lovely fresh crispness, as well as a wonderfully balanced flavor. Shaved Asparagus Salad It’s sweet, it’s spicy, it’s bright and vinegary with nice sharp flavors. Burnt Ends & Pimento Melt from The Fountain The Burnt Ends & Pimento Melt is made with Turkey “Burnt Ends,” Hand-crafted Pimento Cheese, Pickled Red Onions, and Jalepeno-Cheddar Toast. We weren’t sure about this because it’s turkey, so we were skeptical, but y’all…it was super juicy and SO flavorful. Burnt Ends and Pimento Melt If you had told us this was pork, we might have believed it. But we were also sold by the pimento cheese slathered on the bun, too. Because, you know…cheese. Red Wine Braised Beef Short Rib from Il Mulino The Red Wine Braised Beef Short Rib is served with Browned Butter Potato Gnocchi, Porcini Mushroom Puree, Pecorino Romano, Fennel, and Parsley Salad. This was DIVINE. It’s rich, savory, and salty, and just delicious. Taking a bite of the meat with the gnocchi was like HEAVEN. Red Wine Braised Beef Short Rib This is another dish we would highly recommend. SO good. Butter Poached Bay Scallops at For The Love of Florida The Butter Poached Bay Scallops come with Florida Corn Puree, Charred Scallion Vinaigrette, Radish Threads, and Shallot Butter. These just made us so happy because these scallops were fresh and super tender, buttery, and yummy. Butter Poached Bay Scallops We also really loved the sauce that went with it, which cut right through the rich buttery flavor. It was hard not to eat 10 plates of these, y’all. Chocolate Blackberry Choux Puff Okay, so this is a dessert that EVERYONE was raving about at the festival. So we had to try it out, and you know what? It lived up to the hype. It’s a chocolate choux, but the filling is blackberry and that tartness just really complements the chocolate flavor of the choux. Chocolate Blackberry Choux Puff It WAS a little messy, but we’d still eat it again. This was just a small sampling of everything we ate, but these are the items that left a big impression on us. We’re sure you might find some more favorites if you visit the festival next year. Trust us, it’s worth it! The festival ran from November 15th through 16th and ticket prices were $195 per person ($208.13 with service fees) for unlimited food and beverage tastings on the Causeway on Friday or Saturday night. A two-night event bundle ticket was also available for $330 per person ($353.94 with service fees). Stay tuned to DFB for more. The holiday season is in FULL effect in Disney World. The decorations are OUT, the trees are lit, and the snacks and drinks are flowing. Tree at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort Of course, our favorite part of this season IS the snacks, and there are a WHOLE lot of new ones to try this year — and the EPCOT Festival of the Holidays hasn’t even started yet and there will be even MORE snacks to try. However, we’re trying to make our way around Disney World hotels to check out those new holiday snacks, and we’ve got a sweet treat to tell you about at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa. OK, before we dive in, we should warn you: Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort is pretty crowded right now. Everyone is stopping by to try the fun holiday treats and admire the GORGEOUS holiday decorations, including the Gingerbread Display. 2024 Grand Floridian Gingerbread House We headed over to Gasparilla Island Grill to try out something called the Let It Snow Cube. It’s a cube made with Almond-Praline Mousse, Confit Apricot, and Orange Chiffon for $6.49. There’s also a little Christmas tree on it. Let it Snow Cube So this thing has a LOT of flavors going on — sometimes Disney just tries to celebrate every flavor in one dessert, and this is the result. It can be overwhelming, though, because just the mousse alone has almond and praline flavors fighting it out. Even worse, they taste artificial, like you can taste the almond extract. It’s cute! The base of the cube is very orangey (it’s orange chiffon), but it’s also a little gummy and a touch dry. Then there’s the apricot filling above it that tastes like artificial apricot. But there isn’t enough of it — we think this flavor could’ve balanced out the whole if there had been more of it. Instead, you’ve got all these distinct flavors going to battle inside your mouth. SO much going on It’s not a BAD dessert, but it’s just…a lot, and we think there are better holiday snacks in Disney World. We probably wouldn’t get it again. Stay tuned to DFB for more. There are a lot of differences between Disney World and Disneyland. For example, Disneyland is a bit smaller (actually, it’s just more compact) and has Sleeping Beauty Castle whereas Disney World has Cinderella Castle. Avengers Campus Disneyland also has some rides that Disney World doesn’t have, and vice versa. However, one of the biggest differences is that Disneyland can go ALL out with Marvel on the West Coast, whereas Disney World cannot on the East Coast (because of an old contract Marvel has with Universal). So that’s why you’ll find Avengers Campus in Disney California Adventure, as well as a host of Marvel characters. Well, one of those characters is Deadpool (and we honestly NEVER expected him to be in a Disney Park), and he’s now reading holiday stories to visitors. Yep, this is really a thing — and us Disney World-regulars are a little jealous. Remember Story Time with Deadpool, that limited-time offering in California Adventure over the summer with Deadpool and Wolverine? Deadpool telling stories Well, it’s officially BACK for a limited run…as a holiday show. Yep, Deadpool is dressing like Santa and reading holiday stories in a Disney Park, and we absolutely LOVE that this is a thing. And, before you ask, it seems like he just might be joined by Wolverine during storytime. Peep the ornament on the tree! ©Disney So here’s the thing: you SHOULD be able to find showtimes for The Story Time with Deadpool Holiday Special on the Disneyland app, but we searched ALL over the app and couldn’t find anything. However, we did find the showtimes on the Disneyland website in the calendar. Note that these showtimes could change, so you’ll want to keep an eye on the Disneyland website (at least until it gets added to the app). ©Disney It does, however, look like The Story Time with Deadpool Holiday Special will be happening every day during the holiday season in California Adventure, so you should have multiple chances to catch it. Also, don’t forget Deadpool & Wolverine is now streaming on Disney+. Stay tuned to DFB for more. We’re so excited for the next installment of Moana’s adventures! ©Disney Moana 2 hits theaters on November 27th, Thanksgiving weekend, and the new movie looks like it will be just as exciting and wonderful as the first. What’s even more exciting about a sequel to Moana is that ANOTHER Moana movie is in the works. Disney announced that a live-action Moana film will come out in 2026 (July 10th, 2026). We know Dwayne Johnson will reprise his role as Maui, and Catherine Laga’aia will play Moana, but other than that, no new updates have been shared. However, we recently spotted some testing going on thanks to Reel News Hawaii on X! Disney has created Moana’s boat for the new Island Tower at Disney’s Polynesian Resort. The boat and Moana sculptures are seriously impressive and will be part of the water play area for kids to enjoy. Artist rendering of “Moana’s Voyage,” a whimsical new splash area featuring life-size sculptures of Moana and her iconic canoe. © Disney But what’s even more exciting is that Moana’s REAL boat has now been seen undergoing testing on the ocean before filming of the live-action movie begins! The sail is so iconic; it’s easy to identify as Moana’s very own canoe. We’re so happy she became a wayfinder and joined up with Maui for the exciting adventures. Seeing this come to life is lots of fun! We can’t wait to see the new movie later this month and the live-action in 2026. We’ll be keeping our eyes out for any new updates, so keep following DFB! When you go to Disney World every day like we do, you’re bound to develop a few habits along the way. Magic Kingdom Maybe you always go this one particular restaurant first thing in the morning. Maybe you always go left when you get to the World Showcase at EPCOT. Maybe you absolutely, always have to try to pull the sword from the stone (today could be your day!). Whatever your particular routine is, we’re sure that there might be some, shall we say, obscure things you always do. That’s definitely the case with us, and we thought it was high time to share a couple of them with ya! As we were saying, since we go to Disney World every day, we started noticing there were a couple of obscure things we always do. So, we thought we’d share four (4) of them with you right now! Keeping Tabs on Every. Single. Menu. We’re not just casually checking out what’s for lunch. Nope, we’ve become full-on menu connoisseurs. Whether it’s a churro cart or a table-service restaurant, we’re hyper-aware of what’s available, what’s new, and what might become our next must-try snack. It’s not just about eating. It’s about strategizing. Appetizers, entrées, kids menu Maybe there’s a limited-time cupcake that’s going to sell out by 3 PM, or maybe we know a hidden gem that’s perfect for a midday pick-me-up. Either way, staying on top of the menus is like our Disney World homework (but way more delicious). Dodging Parade Crowds Like Pros Parades are magical, there’s no denying it, but so is being able to navigate the park without getting stuck in a crowd of Mickey ears. Crowds in Magic Kingdom When the parades roll through, we’re not the ones staking out a spot. We’re the ones sneaking around the routes like ninjas. You’ll find us zigzagging through lesser-known paths to get where we need to go without wasting time. Strategically Positioning for Fuel Rod Swaps At this point, our portable chargers have become fully part of the family. We know exactly how long they’ll last and, more importantly, when they’re about to hit 0%. Instead of risking a dead phone while we’re mid-reservation, we’ve mastered the art of camping near a Fuel Rod station just in time to swap out for a fresh one. Fuel Rod machine Is it the most glamorous thing we do? Probably not, but when you’re in Disney World, your phone is practically an extra limb, and we’re not about to let it die on us. Chasing the Perfect Light for Photos We’re low-key (okay, high-key) obsessed with the perfect lighting for our photos. For example, we know that certain spots around Disney World basically glow at certain times of day, and we’ve got the schedule memorized. You have to get the one good castle shot! Morning light for castle shots? Check. Golden hour in Galaxy’s Edge? Double check. It’s all about waiting for just the right moment to snap those pictures that look straight out of a fairytale. Galaxy’s Edge at Sunset There you have it! Those are four obscure things we do every single day in Disney World. These little quirks might sound odd to some, but to us, they’re all part of the magic. Next time you’re in the parks, keep an eye out and you might just catch us in action, or maybe you won’t. We’re pretty good at slinking around unnoticed too. We already know that a LOT is about to change in Disney World. Magic Kingdom is getting a huge expansion in Frontierland PLUS a whole new Villains-themed land. A Monsters, Inc. land is coming to Hollywood Studios, as well as a new villains show (we’re sensing a theme here, Disney). Animal Kingdom is getting a new land, while EPCOT is getting a new version of Test Track. Welcome to the Most Magical Place on Earth! However, something else related to your next Disney trip has already changed. If you fly into Orlando International Airport during your next Disney visit, you’re going to notice that a LOT of things at the airport are different. But the changes don’t stop there — even the airport’s app just got an upgrade. The airport has recently re-branded, starting with a brand-new logo to represent MCO, a.k.a. the Orlando International Airport. Here’s what the new logo looks like. ©Orlando International Airport You’ll see this new logo all over the airport the next time you visit. Things will look a little spruced up when you fly in for your Disney trip. According to the airport, “Our visuals depict a new dawn on the essence of modern travel while honoring our rich history. They highlight the importance of merging multimodal capabilities and world-class traveler amenities with a design that embodies Orlando’s unique attributes.” ©Orlando International Airport The Orlando International Airport website also has a new look along with the new logo. ©Orlando International Airport However, the biggest upgrade could be with the airport’s app. The airport wrote, “Our new website and enhanced app are designed to modernize our digital presence and to deliver a faster, more secure, and user-friendly experience to all.” Both will give you a lot of great details about your trip to the airport, including parking availability, security wait times, a way to secure your parking space, details about shopping and dining, and more. You’ll also be able to look up the status of your flights. ©Orlando International Airport So the next time you fly to Disney World, be sure to notice these new changes — also, download that helpful app! As you know, there are all sorts of items you have to keep in mind when you’re prepping for a trip to Disney World. Spaceship Earth at EPCOT I’m sure you’re thinking of all the essentials, your outfits, your most comfortable shoes, and some of those just-in-case items. That’s all well and good, but have you ever thought about the items you should never buy when you get to Disney World? Well, we thought we’d save you the time (and some money) and share a list of the things we think you should definitely not buy in the parks! DISCLOSURE: This post may contain affiliate links, meaning when you click the links and make a purchase, we receive a commission. Let’s not waste any time and dive right into our list of 7 things you should NEVER buy in the Disney World parks! Sunscreen Let’s start with one of our most recommended park essentials — sunscreen. Yes, you’re in sunny Florida, and yes, we absolutely want you to protect your skin, but buying sunscreen inside the park can end up costing you around double what you’d pay at your local store or favorite retailer like Amazon. A necessity! Unfortunately that theme park markup is real. The best thing to do is to plan ahead and pack your own. Supergoop! For example, we’ve really been enjoying this Supergoop! SPF 40 Sunscreen and maybe it could be the one for you! It’s effective at protecting your skin. It fits perfectly even in a fanny pack. And it’s typically less expensive then picking up the option you find in the parks. Get it here! Autograph Books Sure, Disney’s autograph books are classic, but they’re for what they are (just a few pages of paper) they’re also overpriced. Instead, buy a cute notebook beforehand, or get creative and have characters sign a hat, a picture frame, your refillable water bottle (have fun with it and get creative). Our signed water bottle! You’ll end up having the same magical memento for a fraction of the cost. Plus, who doesn’t love a DIY Disney souvenir? ©Amazon Now, if you do want to have an authentic Disney autograph book, how about checking out this Disney World Park Life Autograph Book? At the end of the day, it’s a perfectly good book to get those autographs and it’ll save you a bit of cash too! Get it here! Bottled Water We are HUGE on making sure you’re hydrated at Disney World. It’s a hot place that doesn’t have a ton of shade. So, this one’s a biggie. Water fountain and refill station A bottle of water at Disney World can cost around $4, so instead of shelling out constantly for water, do what we do — bring a refillable bottle and take advantage of the water refill stations throughout the parks! Now, if you don’t have a refillable bottle, you can still get a free cup of water from counter-service restaurants throughout the parks for free! New metal water dispensers If you’re looking for a solid option when it comes to a refillable water bottle, check out this Owala Water Bottle! Owala Water Bottle We also love it because it made for the perfect canvas to have some of our favorite characters sign it. Get it here! Ponchos Speaking of Florida weather, it really is no joke, and if you find yourself in Disney World during the rainy season (which feels like it’s all year long), you’re almost guaranteed to have a shower each and every afternoon. While Disney does sell ponchos, they’re about $12 each, and that adds up fast if you’re buying for the whole family. Frogg Toggs Poncho What we’d rather you do (which will save you some cash) is to pick up a pack of ponchos before your trip. That way you’ll save big without sacrificing comfort, and when the rain starts, you’ll be glad you did! Frogg Toggs Poncho Now, we love our Frogg Toggs Poncho and we’re pretty sure you will too! It comes with its own case. It’s sturdy and lightweight, and can be stuffed really small into your parks bag. Get it here! FuelRods Aside from staying hydrated, one of the things we need you to know is that you will burn through a metric ton of power on your devices while your at Disney World, specifically on your phone since everything from navigating to reservations, even just unlocking your hotel room, it all happens right on your phone. ©Disney So, you’re gonna want to come with some kind of power bank so you don’t suffer from a dead phone only partway through your first day. You’ve probably seen that Disney offers FuelRods all around the parks for around $30, and you get unlimited swaps at the kiosks when they are out of juice, which is super convenient. Fuel Rod machine The thing is that you can typically pick up a pack of them on Amazon for the same price that you’ll find at the park (and yes, they’re the exact same thing and can be swapped without a problem). FuelRod So, if you want to bring some FuelRods, we’d recommend checking out Amazon so you can come with your own for about half the price. Get them here! Balloons Now, these last two are going to feel controversial (just warning you up front). If you’ve seen those iconic Mickey balloons, you know how tempting they are. They almost feel like a right of passage when you come to Disney World, but be warned. Not only are they going to end up hitting you and your neighbors (most likely in the face if you’ve got them secured to a stroller) all the time, they’re quite pricey. Disney World balloons On top of that, they won’t even make it through airport security if you’re flying home. So, enjoy them while you’re in the park, but if you really want a souvenir that lasts, there are a lot of other options than a pricey balloon. Bubble Wands Yes, they’re cute, and kids love them, but those Disney bubble wands come at a premium, and they can be, shall we say, not the most enjoyable experience when you get a face full of them. Ariel Bubble wand in Magic Kingdom If you really want to blow some bubbles on your trip, maybe instead you pack a few dollar-store bubble tubes or even bring a small wand from home. That way, you and the kids will still have fun, and you won’t be spending a small fortune on one from the parks. ©Disney Now, if you’re looking for a Disney bubble wand at a bit of a discount, check out this Disney Lightning McQueen Bubble Wand! This might be the perfect one for your kiddo especially if they love Cars. Also, this one lights up! Get it here! In the meantime, we’re always on the lookout for the latest deals on Disney products, so stay tuned for more. Did you know we have a Disney-themed Amazon Storefront? Check it out! There’s a lot on the way for Magic Kingdom in the next few years. Magic Kingdom We know we’re getting entire new lands in the form of Villains Land and the Cars-themed land taking the place of Tom Sawyer Island, but there’s also a new Pirates Tavern coming to Adventureland sometime in 2025, and if we’re right, and if this secret construction project is what we think it is, we have some updates to discuss. For the past few months, a mysterious construction project has been taking place at the exit of Pirates of the Caribbean in Magic Kingdom, and we’ve been speculating that this is where Disney will unveil the new Pirates Tavern. We don’t have official confirmation about the location of the new tavern, but currently, we can’t see any other construction in Adventureland, and with the lounge set to open in 2025, we have a pretty good feeling those walls are hiding a new tavern. Construction is continuing! When we visited this area recently, we noticed that while the walls are still up, we can see over them a little bit! Progress is being made! It appears that a new structure is taking shape behind the construction walls. Could it be an entrance? A doorway? We’re no architectural experts, but either way, we’re seeing some promising progress! Looking good to us! The best part? If we take a look at the concept art, we see big beams on the ceiling, just like we are starting to see in Magic Kingdom! This feels like a pretty big clue that the Pirate Tavern is coming along. ©Disney Looking for more recent Magic Kingdom news? Check out our posts below! More Magic Kingdom News! Planning a Disney World trip isn’t for the faint of heart, which is why we do our best to make sure you’re as best prepared as you can be! Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway Lightning Lane Now that the new Lightning Lane system has been in place for a while, we’ve gotten to know the ins and outs — along with tracking the latest prices so you can budget for your next vacation. And, if you’ve got a trip coming up soon you might want to listen up because we know when Lightning Lane prices will skyrocket in Disney World! Ready or not, the holiday season has arrived at Disney World and that means the crowds are amping up, too. If you’re heading to the parks soon, you might be interested in purchasing Lightning Lane, Disney’s skip-the-line service that allows you to bypass the standby line at several attractions throughout the parks. But, just how much will you have to shell out for Lightning Lane? Well, if you’re planning on visiting Magic Kingdom on Thanksgiving Day — you might want to be prepared. Lightning Lane On Thursday, November 28th — Thanksgiving Day — Lightning Lane Multi Pass prices increase to a whopping $35 for Magic Kingdom. There are a few dates throughout November that will hit the $35 mark at Magic Kingdom — the 16th, 18th, 25th, and 28th. Luckily, Lightning Lane pricing for the remaining parks — and Single Pass — remains relatively normal. Lightning Lane Lightning Lane Premier Pass is the newest version of the pass, and it’s also the most expensive. This pass allows you to skip the line once at every Lightning Lane attraction in the park without needing to schedule a return time. And, on Thanksgiving Day, the price hits its most expensive yet. Every week, we report the average Disney World wait times in every park so that you can be prepared for your next trip to Orlando! Magic Kingdom Disney World’s wait times seem to be all over the place right now — one day, a popular ride may have a long wait all day long…and the next day the wait time won’t even break an hour. There’s a lot going on at Disney World right now and that means folks are flocking to the parks, but let’s see what that means for wait times. Take a look at this week’s average wait times! Magic Kingdom Wait Times Wait times at Magic Kingdom seemed to mostly be what we’d expect for this time of year — except for on days when Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party is going on. Then, we often see wait times drop since folks don’t want to waste a day in Magic Kingdom if the park is closing early. We’re also still seeing higher wait times for Jingle Cruise!
