We’re back with an update from the WILDEST town in Disney World! Hey there tiny villagers! If you’ve been following along with our adventures in the tiny train town in EPCOT, then you know that this itty bitty city is filled with crime, dastardly deeds, and in general, complete anarchy. As the self-proclaimed mayor of the village, I’ve been attempting to catch the criminals in their wrongdoing and keep the town on the straight and narrow, but during a recent visit, I found some concerning problems. First of all, I know everyone’s always dying for a werewolf update! Our town’s bravest and most valiant citizen, Dave, is still defending his house (and all the people of the village) from the beast that’s tormenting him. Recently, we were able to get him some supplies and other townspeople have volunteered to take over the night watch so that Dave can sleep. You go, Dave! Werewolf update And speaking of updates on our most famous citizens, Little Suzie’s parents still have not retrieved her from the incredibly dangerous observation tower after its broken rail incidents. I’m starting to believe that it’s Little Suzie causing all this damage. Little Suzie, what did you do?! In a completely unrelated incident, we’ve started to receive reports of a prankster or a thief removing the front doors from various homes around town. Multiple residents have come home from work to find their front doors missing — no belongings have been stolen from inside the houses as of yet. What’s happening over here? When doing a checkup of homes to account for stolen doors, I stopped by one of our neighborhood farms. There looked to be some kind of mischief afoot. An unconscious man lay on the ground while a country jug band played nearby. When I spoke to the residents, they assured me that the man was fine, but I’ll be sending over the authorities to do a wellness check. Is this some weird new ritual I need to know about? (And seriously, is that guy actually DEAD?!) HMMMMM…. So there you have it — all the mischief and misdeeds in our village this week. I’ll keep you updated with more nonsense as it comes, so stay tuned to DFB! * The anarchy within is mostly created by natural occurrences, like giant squirrels, wind, rain, and relatively godzilla-sized lizards who frequent the town; but we find it fun and entertaining to make up fictional stories about what COULD be happening. We are grateful to the folks who create and maintain this Tiny Train Town for Disney World, as it’s one of our favorite parts of EPCOT and always has been. If you’ve been to Disneyland recently, you’ll know that it has a LOT of construction going on right now. Tiana’s Bayou Adventure is under construction, although the ride is set to open on November 15th. The area around the ride, though, is currently closed as it gets re-themed and renamed as Bayou Country. Hungry Bear Restaurant, which is also located nearby is getting a reimagining and will soon become Hungry Bear Barbecue Jamboree. Disneyland There’s also some construction happening to the queue for Haunted Mansion in nearby New Orleans Square. This means that some of the pathways in these areas have been closed due to construction. We’ve got some good news, though: one of those pathways will soon reopen. The bridge that connects New Orleans Square with Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge has been closed for a little while due to construction, but will soon reopen on August 19th. So you’ll be able to get around a little easier without having to detour. Detour sign You’ll also have access to some things that are along that route, including Davy Crocket’s Explorer Canoes and the restrooms on the lower level of Hungry Bear Restaurant (these are GREAT restrooms, by the way). So although there’s a lot of construction still going on, at least some things are reopening and it’s a little easier to get around the park. Detour sign Meanwhile, Disney California Adventure could be under construction soon as the park will soon be getting a new Avatar-themed land, as well as a new Coco ride. So expect to see construction walls and pathways blocked in that park soon. We’ll be keeping an eye out for construction updates in Disneyland, so stay tuned to DFB for more. Few things are more disappointing than getting to Disney World, only to realize that the attraction you’ve been looking forward to riding is CLOSED. Cinderella Castle It happens more often than you might think — usually because the ride itself needs a little TLC. That’s been the case for an iconic Magic Kingdom ride as of late, but we’ve got good news because this ride is reopening EARLY! SURPRISE! Peter Pan’s Flight will be reopening EARLY in Magic Kingdom following what was supposed to be a lengthy refurbishment — but it looks like the project didn’t take Disney quite as long as they had planned! Peter Pan’s Flight Entrance Peter Pan’s Flight will reopen on August 16th, 2024, about a week earlier than was originally scheduled. The ride originally closed for refurbishment on July 8th and was listed as closed on the Disney World calendar through August 21st. But, the updated Disney World website now shows Peter Pan’s Flight will reopen tomorrow morning with the rest of Magic Kingdom! Lightning Lane at Peter Pan’s Flight When the refurbishment initially started, Disney World put up temporary construction walls within the ride’s mostly visible queue exterior (likely to keep park visitors safe from fumes and debris) so we’ve not had a chance to see exactly what has been worked on during this refurbishment — but we’ll be checking it out and letting you know of any major changes once it’s officially back up and running. Completely boarded up Disney World often temporarily closes rides that are in need of refurbishment for a whole host of reasons. While they haven’t shared what exactly was going on with this attraction, it is one of the oldest in the park so it likely needs a little TLC from time to time. We’re happy to see that Peter Pan’s Flight will be reopening early, though! Peter Pan’s Flight is closed In the meantime, we’ll be on the lookout for the latest updates and news from Disney World — so make sure you check back here on DFB for more! It may only be August, but we’re getting excited for the holiday season! Disneyland Christmas tree We’ve already heard some announcements about what we can expect at Disneyland Resort for the holiday season, but we can’t wait to experience everything ourselves. One of the highlights of the year is holiday ride overlays, and now we’ve got some important information about what’s coming soon! The Disneyland Resort refurbishment calendar has been updated to note that “it’s a small world” will close for refurbishment starting on September 16th. This is a common occurrence, as crews need time to transform the ride into “it’s a small world” Holiday for the Christmas season. “it’s a small world” in Disneyland The holiday overlay for the ride is set to open on November 15th. During the two-month closure, crews will work on installing the holiday show elements while also updating lighting and doing general maintenance, according to theme park reporter Scott Gustin. “it’s a small world” Holiday But that’s not all! Also beginning September 16th, Jungle Cruise will close for refurbishment in Adventureland. Disney hasn’t shared details on that particular ride closure, so we’ll have to wait and find out if anything is changing. In Disney World, Jungle Cruise gets a holiday overlay called Jingle Cruise. Jingle Cruise hasn’t been offered at Disneyland Park for a while, but with a closure right before the holidays, could this be a sign we see it again in 2024? We’ll have to wait and see. Disneyland Jungle Cruise If you’re taking a trip to Disneyland soon, keep in mind that the refurbishment and closure list is a little bit longer than usual right now. Several offerings in Critter Country are closed as that land gets a transformation, as well as the Disneyland Monorail and Disneyland Railroad. Great Moments with Mr. Lincoln and the Disney Gallery are also under refurbishment, and Space Mountain is getting some updates too. Disneyland It’s important to check the refurbishment calendar before any Disney trip so that you can set your expectations going in. Happy Halloween season, ghouls and boys! Sorry…we couldn’t resist. We are in the spooky spirit now that we’ve been to the first Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party this year. Halloween at Disney World! Yes, Halloween has arrived in Disney World, along with all the fun Halloween decorations in Magic Kingdom. One of the most ICONIC pieces of decor, though, are the Mickey pumpkin wreaths, and in case you missed it, you can buy a similar one for your own home! Well, you can if you’re fast enough because those babies are flying off shelves. However, we recently witnessed a restock…but we can’t promise they’ll last for long! So the Halloween Wreaths were online for a very short time before they sold out, so right now, you can pretty much only get them in the parks. We’ve seen them flying off shelves in Disney World, but we recently witnessed a restock at Emporium in Magic Kingdom. They’re back! However, we have to warn you — we actually caught Cast Members in the middle of the restock and they were VERY busy getting ready with all hands on deck. So, yes, they’re ready to see these fly off shelves all over again. So the good news is they ARE restocking these wreaths, but you might want to be quick in getting your hands on them once they’ve been restocked. We found them in Disneyland, too! Like we get it — who doesn’t want to have a classic Mickey pumpkin wreath at home? We’re hoping they turn back up online at some point, too, however that might not happen until Halloween 2025 (and Disney does occasionally re-release these viral items again the following year, like they did with the light-up pumpkins). We’ll be keeping an eye out and we’ll let you know if we spot them again. So stay tuned to DFB for more. We Honestly Use These Disney Souvenirs Every Day — and They’re Online! IT'S SPOOK-TACULAR! The holiday season will be here before we know it! Magic Kingdom during the holidays (2023) Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party is currently happening in Magic Kingdom through October 31st, but after that, the holiday season will EXPLODE into Disney World! Many Disney World fans wish it would wait a little longer, preferably until after Thanksgiving, but we love that having Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party start so early gives more families a chance to experience the magic while they visit the parks. However, with Disney’s recent change from Genie+ to Lightning Lane Multi Pass and Lightning Lane Single Pass, what does that mean for its usage during the party? Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party takes place on select nights from November 8th through December 20th from 7PM to midnight. However, you can enter the parks as early as 4PM on party nights with your party ticket to take advantage of the most amount of time in the park possible. You do NOT need to purchase a regular park ticket to attend the party, unless you’d like to enter before 4PM. Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party However, it’s been confirmed that Lightning Lane Multi Pass and Lightning Lane Single Pass WILL NOT be available during the party and for those with party tickets. Not to worry though, Tiana’s Bayou Adventure and TRON Lightcycle / Run will both be available with a standby queue instead of needing a Lightning Lane Single Pass or virtual queue! Tiana’s Bayou Adventure But won’t the lines be really long? Thankfully, since only a limited number of tickets are sold for the party each night to keep crowds low, it’s very unlikely you’ll see a wait time over about 40-50 minutes, and that will likely be for party-exclusive meet and greets and/or Tiana’s and TRON. Many attractions are very likely to be a walk-on! Space Mountain If you enter the park at 4PM and only have a party ticket, this means you will not be able to access Lightning Lane Multi Pass OR Lightning Lane Single Pass, UNLESS you’ve also bought a regular park ticket for that day. Otherwise, you’ll be experiencing those final 2 hours the park is open to all guests without access to skip-the-line services. Christmas in Magic Kingdom While this may seem frustrating, we’ve been to these parties countless times and if you want to prioritize rides, it’s very unlikely you’ll have any trouble riding all you’d like to. Most wait times are around 5-10 minutes, which is about how long it takes to walk through the queue itself! Christmas in Magic Kingdom We’ll be at the very first party to show you all there is to experience and let you know if it’s worth the whopping $169-219 price tag, so be sure to stay tuned to DFB! This past Friday, Saturday, and Sunday completely flew by — but that only makes sense, considering the saying goes that time flies when you’re having fun at D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event. Myself and thousands of other Disney fans arrived at the Anaheim Convention Center for three days of unrivaled celebration across the Disney parks (and beyond), seeing new things, getting to experience new things, and learning about what’s in store for the future (and there’s a lot of it coming soon). It’s hard to pick just one or two things that were the highlight for the weekend, so instead I’ve gone ahead and chosen a handful of things that really WOW-ed me. In no particular order, here’s everything I loved seeing across the three-day event. Haunted Mansion cosplay Lots of ghosts materialized this year at D23 Event 2024, bringing with them ghoulish delights. Though we might not have seen 999 of them roaming the halls of the Anaheim Convention Center, they were out plenty, greeting those who dared to get close. If you’re ready for more scares, Halloween season at the parks is right around the corner… The Legends Ceremony On the closing night of D23, 14 new Disney Legends were honored at the Honda Center, including Former Imagineer Joe Rohde and the first Black Disneyland Tour Guide Martha Blanding. “It’s a great honor to be counted as a Disney Legend…to even be considered in the same breath as the other honorees this season,” Joe told the crowd. “None of this is done alone, I owe everything that I am to others.” As for Martha, she explained during her inductee, “Never let other people determine your future…I promised myself that I wouldn’t cry, but that’s hard because becoming a Disney Legend is something I never thought would happen to me. When Josh called to give me the news, I was speechless. And anyone who knows me, knows I am never speechless.” Not only did we see these two newly minted Disney Legends up on the stage, but they were assisted by the Disney Ambassadors from across the globe! Everyone meeting Mickey There were stars on stage during the Horizons: Disney Experience Showcase, and then the big cheese was backstage — Mickey Mouse, of course. The celebrity presenters and performers stopped by to pose with Mickey, a highlight for everyone’s night. Who can say no to snapping a pic, or two, with Mickey? Parks cosplay The hitchhiking ghosts weren’t the only impressive cosplay we saw out on the floor. Disney Parks fans put their creative juices to work coming up with inventive ways to show off their love for their favorite attractions, locations, and things. I loved seeing all the attention to detail, and all the little things added into outfits to really make them pop. Cast Member Meet-Up Even Disney Experiences Chairman Josh D’Amaro stopped by the Cast and employee “meet up” during D23 Event 2024. There, some working — and some visiting the Anaheim area — gathered for a big group picture in front of the dazzling Sorcerer Hat statue in front of the convention hall. The BDX droids Venturing outside of Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, the BDX Droits made a splash on the show floor interacting with those going in and out of the Imagineering pavilion. They also took time to venture outside of the pavilion space, heading over to the Star Wars pavilion to experience the Void themselves (which is a technological marvel you need to see to believe!). The Imagineering Reveal rooms Speaking of the Imagineering pavilion, while you might have been able to get into the space and see everything, you couldn’t really get the full experience until Sunday. That’s when curtains came down for the secret reveal rooms at the back of the space, showcasing announcements made the night prior during Horizons: A Disney Experiences Showcase. Getting up close with the newly revealed models was really the perfect way to end the weekend — and get excited about everything in progress right now around the world. Want more D23 Event 2024? D23 just wrapped up this past weekend, and there was so much news that dropped! D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event We are still recovering from the weekend, and all that took place at D23. While new movies and shows were announced and new Disney Legends were inducted, arguably some of the most exciting news came from the Disney Parks Panel, where Josh D’amaro, Chairman of Disney Experiences, made several announcements about the future of the parks. While some of these announcements are exciting, some fans are mourning what will be lost to these new projects. Announcements were made about the DinoLand, U.S.A. re-theme, along with the new show coming to the Tree of Life in Animal Kingdom. It was also announced that Hollywood Studios would be getting a new Monsters INC.-themed land. While this has been expected for quite some time, we finally learned what will lie “Beyond Big Thunder.” Another project was announced for Magic Kingdom, and some fans are not too happy about what it is replacing. Monsters, Inc roller coaster At D23, it was announced that the Magic Kingdom would get its own unique version of Cars Land. Currently, at Disney California Adventure, you can step into Radiator Springs in Cars Land. While the Magic Kingdom version will use the Cars IP (Intellectual Property), this new land will be different from its California counterpart and even have two new attractions. At first, it was not announced at D23 where this new land would go, as many assumed it would be part of what lies “Beyond Big Thunder,” but after D23, it was confirmed that the new Cars area would be taking over the Rivers of America as well as Tom Sawyer’s Island. ©Disney Fans are not too happy about losing this peaceful part of the park and are worried that this new land could interfere with Frontierland’s storyline. We asked you, our awesome readers on both Instagram and Facebook, what you all thought about this major Magic Kingdom change. Cars is coming to Magic Kingdom! ©Disney One reader pointed out how this project is going to change the park’s landscape and said, “That area (Tom Sawyer’s Island) added a lot to the park, not just in nostalgia and theme but also having the river there as a water feature. Now we’ve got more pavement being added. So much green space has already been taken away.” Tom Sawyer Island Another reader said that they are going to miss having a quiet spot to visit. Other readers have pointed out that the story of Frontierland is going to be lost as one reader said, “I mean, it’s not really the best place for it. I feel like over by Big Thunder Mountain would be a more suitable location. It’s gonna make the queue for Haunted Mansion noisy. I like the tranquility of the river while waiting in line.” Another reader joked and said, “When I think of Frontierland or just about the frontier in general, the number one thing I think of is … Cars.” Tom Sawyer Island While Magic Kingdom is being expanded with Villains Land behind Big Thunder Mountain, one reader pointed out that “the problem is they aren’t really adding when they get rid of existing things to make new things.” Others talked about how they are sad about the closures of attractions currently offered here as one reader said, “The Riverboat became my husband’s favorite Magic Kingdom attraction when Mr. Toad left.” Views from Tom Sawyer Island While some are sad about the change, others are welcoming it! One reader said, “It’s sad to see an original area disappear, but progress waits for no one. Cars is going to be great!” Also sharing enthusiasm, a reader agreed and said, “I’m more than cool with it. I love Cars Land in Disneyland, so I’m definitely excited to see what they’ll do with Disney World!” Cars Land in Disneyland Over on Instagram, we also created a little poll to gauge people’s thoughts on this big news. Out of 6,898 responses, 37% of fans were a little confused by Disney’s decision. Follow @disneyfoodblog on Instagram! While we do have quite a bit of information for this new area, such as location, concept art, and some information on one of the rides, it is unclear when construction will start and when this new area will be open. So many new projects were announced at D23 that it will be interesting to see when we will get a construction timeline and what will close while we wait for these new experiences to be built. Map of where the new Cars area will be As always, stay tuned to Disney Food Blog as we will continue to monitor any new updates about these projects, and we will keep an eye out for any construction permits. Yes, Halloween season just officially started in Disney World, but that still isn’t stopping us from looking ahead to the holiday season. Jollywood Nights 2024 — ©Disney You can’t blame us — this holiday season in Disney World is going to be LIT. Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party will be returning to Magic Kingdom, but maybe even more importantly, Jollywood Nights is returning to Disney’s Hollywood Studios for its second year in a row. Now, we’ve already seen a few details about this year’s parties, and we got a little bit of a sneak peek at merchandise, but now Disney has dropped a full FIRST LOOK at the exclusive Jollywood Nights souvenirs you’ll get to buy this year. Jollywood Nights merchandise features a mascot called Ollie, “a talented and energetic gingerbread man who brings his own festive cheer to this glamorous event, inspired by the golden age and aspirations of Tinseltown.” He was inspired by the aesthetic of mid-century holiday cards, as well as ads from the 1940s and 1950s. Of course, he’s also inspired by the tradition of baking holiday treats, including gingerbread cookies. ©Disney You’ll find Ollie on the exclusive Jollywood Nights merchandise, including a spirit jersey and t-shirt that will be available during the event. He’s even taking a stroll down Hollywood Studios’ Sunset Blvd. on the tee. ©Disney You’ll also find an exclusive Ollie Lug Bag to pair with that spirit jersey or tee. You’ll also find some fun Ollie Ears. ©Disney Let’s take a closer look at those cute Ollie Ears. They’ve got Ollie on both sides, with the Jollywood Nights logo in the middle. ©Disney Pin collectors can grab an event-exclusive Ollie Pin. There’s also a fun Ollie Mug for your morning java, tea, hot cocoa, or whatever else you drink out of a mug. ©Disney You can even put Ollie on your Christmas tree because an exclusive Ollie Ornament will be available. ©Disney You’ll only be able to find these souvenirs at Jollywood Nights, so you’ll want to make sure you’ve booked your ticket for this special event. So you’re planning a trip to Disney World in 2025? Disney World You’re probably really excited about visiting the parks and seeing some of the most recent changes, including new rides like Tiana’s Bayou Adventure. You’re probably STOKED to check out the new Country Bear Jamboree show. Maybe you’re ready to stay at some new properties, like the new DVC villas at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort. However, 2025 may NOT be the best time to visit Disney World, and we’re going to tell you why (#sorrynotsorry). So here’s the deal: we just got a lot of HUGE Disney World news at D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event. And some of those announcements are going to affect your Disney World trip. So we have a word of warning if you plan on visiting Disney World in 2025. Disney’s Animal Kingdom Might Have Less to Offer Disney’s Animal Kingdom is about to get some BIG changes. For example, the It’s Tough to Be A Bug show inside the Tree of Life is getting reimagined into a Zootopia-themed show. Now, Disney didn’t say when it would start working on that project, but the new show is set to debut in winter 2025, which means It’s Tough To Be A Bug could close soon to make that happen — and remain closed throughout most of 2025. That’s one less thing to do in Animal Kingdom. A new show inspired by the Walt Disney Animation Studios film “Zootopia” will debut next winter in Discovery Island at Disney’s Animal Kingdom. ©Disney Dinoland U.S.A. is also getting a complete overhaul to become Pueblo Esperanza, which will include a new Indiana Jones-themed ride, a carousel, and a new Encanto-themed ride. Disney did say that they would work on the land in phases, but construction will begin in fall 2024, meaning that you could find yourself with even fewer things to do in Animal Kingdom while that’s going on. Pueblo Esperanza model Disney did promise there would still be more time to ride Dinosaur, but at some point (likely in 2025), it will close to make room for the new Indiana Jones ride, which will leave that area without an attraction. “You’ll Still Have a Chance To Experience Dinosaur One More Time” Disney Shares HUGE Update on the Fate of DinoLand, U.S.A. Price increases will happen If there’s anything that’s a certainty in Disney World is that price increases will happen in 2025. This means that park tickets could very well go up in price sometime during the year, but that’s not the only price increase you have to worry about. Surge pricing means Lightning Lane Multi Pass and Lightning Lane Single Pass could go up in price, depending on when you visit. Ticket prices in EPCOT in 2024 Not only that, but we see price increases on food and beverages all the time, but usually once a year, we see those price increases above the board at every single dining spot on the property. Three Huge Hotel Changes Have Been Announced for Disney World in 2025 Planning for things opening and reopening will be hard Disney might have announced a ton of things for the parks, but one thing they didn’t announce are specific opening dates for anything. So although we know that Test Track will reopen in EPCOT in 2025, we don’t know WHEN in 2025, so if you don’t want to miss out on that ride, you’re kinda’ left guessing when to plan your trip. Reimagining concept art ©Disney This also goes for some new things coming to Disney World in 2025, like the Pirates of the Caribbean tavern and Magic Kingdom’s new nighttime parade. We know they’re coming in 2025, but Disney has not announced when, although we do have a little direction with that nighttime parade: summer 2025. This makes planning around those openings difficult, though. A NEW Disney Nighttime Parade Is CONFIRMED for Magic Kingdom Construction Walls EVERYWHERE Remember trying to navigate through EPCOT during its big transformation and there were construction walls everywhere, and you had to take detours to get around the park? Well, imagine that on a much larger scale because THREE of Disney World’s four parks are about to get construction. Get used to seeing these construction walls EVERYWHERE Yep, there will be new construction in Animal Kingdom for the new Tree of Life show and Pueblo Esperanza. Magic Kingdom will have a huge area of Frontierland under construction. Disney’s Hollywood Studios is getting a Monsters, Inc. land, and that means MORE construction. So yep, there will be construction walls EVERYWHERE. Monsters Inc. Land Coming to Disney World’s Hollywood Studios The Walt Disney World Railroad could close…again When Disney World was busy building TRON Lightcycle / Run in Tomorrowland in Magic Kingdom, the Walt Disney World Railroad in Magic Kingdom had to close because Disney ended up having to rearrange some train tracks. It is VERY likely that all the NEW Magic Kingdom construction could potentially close the train again. The Walt Disney World Railroad might have to close again So if you love riding the train around Magic Kingdom, it may not be an option in 2025 due to construction. The 3 Must-Know Disney World Updates To Make Your Next Trip Even BETTER So if you’re planning for 2025, you’ll want to keep this in mind. When it comes to plant-based eats at Disney World, we’ve come a long way since the days of plain french fries. Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa More and more, we’re seeing interesting and creative vegan dishes pop up here and there, and it’s our job to review them so you know which are worth your precious time — and money! We made our way over to Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa for lunch the other day and tried a plant-based dish we hadn’t had before, but should YOU give it a go? We picked up the Korean BBQ Tofu Bowl from Gasparilla Island Grill recently, so we’re bringing you our full review! This dish is made with Tofu, Korean BBQ Sauce, Lemon-scented Jasmine Rice, and Seasonal Vegetables for $15.79. It kind of sounds similar to our beloved tofu bowls from Satu’li Canteen at Animal Kingdom — but how does it compare?! Korean BBQ Tofu Bowl Unfortunately, it does not come close. The tofu itself was flavorless, and we really had to mix everything together just to bring out some taste. The tofu was lightly fried and pretty plain, but there was a lot of it, and we learned that the old cliché about tofu taking on the flavor of whatever it’s prepared with didn’t hold up here. The whole dish tasted like tofu. Swing and a miss! Thankfully, Gasparilla Island Grill offers packets of lemon juice and hot sauce, so we were able to season the tofu a bit more, which made a huge difference. We DOUSED the tofu In terms of the veggies, the big pieces of vegetables were awesome — we loved the large peas, edamame, and small corn, and appreciate that they went in a healthy direction with this plant-based dish, especially since there’s a more indulgent vegan burger on the menu. Not our favorite. But in this case, it was almost too healthy, to the point where the dish lacked the appropriate seasoning to make it a legitimate offering. With outstanding vegan tofu bowls at Disney World, like at Satu’li Canteen and Backlot Express, we were really looking forward to this, but we think we’ll be sticking with these two spots to get our tofu fix from now on! Plenty of veggies, though! In the meantime, you know we’re always on the hunt for the latest and greatest eats from around Disney World, so make sure you stay tuned to Disney Food Blog for more! Are you planning to ring in the season at Disney Jollywood Nights in Disney’s Hollywood Studios? For the very first time, we invite you to take the Tinseltown magic of this special holiday celebration home with a full merchandise collection including apparel, accessories, home décor, collectibles, and a pin — all decorated with festive artwork featuring our favorite jolly gingerbread man, Ollie! Some of you may be wondering: who is Ollie? To answer this question, I sat down with Justin Dring, Concept Artist for Disney Live Entertainment, and the rest of the creative team that brought Ollie to life. Here’s what I learned about Ollie’s origins: Last year, this adorable new holiday character was introduced at Disney Jollywood Nights. He’s a talented and energetic gingerbread man who brings his own festive cheer to this glamorous event, inspired by the golden age and aspirations of Tinseltown. The Disney Live Entertainment creative team behind Ollie wanted to capture the classic aesthetic of mid-century holiday cards and 1940s-1950s advertisement illustration. This vintage style, with its timeless elegance and vibrant charm, perfectly complements the glitzy theme of the event. The team also drew inspiration for Ollie from their personal holiday traditions, adding a layer of warmth and authenticity to the project. For Justin, holidays revolve around baking sweets and gingerbread cookies using his grandmother’s cherished recipes. This heartwarming tradition and the familial spirit of the holidays is exactly the sentiment the team sought to infuse into the event. Every aspect of Ollie’s design, from the optimistic twinkle in his eyes to his stylish holiday attire and star-quality hair, was meticulously crafted to encapsulate the whimsy and cheer of the holiday season while complementing the artistic flair of Disney’s Hollywood Studios. But Ollie’s story is far from over. As his journey continues to unfold, we invite our guests and fans to stay tuned for more sweet updates and to indulge in the magic of Ollie at Disney Jollywood Nights. Speaking of sweet updates: who wants to see all the new holly jolly Ollie items? The Spirit Jersey has a fun, all-over pattern featuring Ollie in his Jollywood best. A “Happy Ollie Days 2024” (we do love a good pun here!) retro graphic can be found on the front of the Spirit Jersey, while the event logo is displayed across the back. If you’d prefer to take home a tee, be sure to grab this graphic tee featuring Ollie on a Sunset Boulevard stroll. These items go perfectly with the event-exclusive Lug bag, great for holding all your park party essentials! The ear headband features Ollie as plush, embroidered ears with satin bow ties. The event marquee is on the top of the headband with “2024” written down the side to mark the year that you visited our holiday party. The mug has a retro-inspired, diner silhouette with images of Ollie and the event logo. This is the perfect mug for a cup of hot cocoa paired with your Jollywood Nights marshmallows, courtesy of Wondermade, which will be provided upon exit and are included in your ticket. If you’re looking to bring a little bit of holiday cheer to your own Christmas tree, this picture-perfect ornament is the souvenir for you. And if you’re building your pin collection, you cannot leave the party without an Ollie trading pin. This event assortment can be found in Stage 1 Company Store during this year’s event. These items are exclusive to party guests, so be sure to get your tickets now and come ready to shop this holiday season. To purchase tickets for Disney Jollywood Nights, happening on select nights at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, visit DisneyWorld.com/Jollywood. I can’t wait to see you at the party! Happy Ollie-days! Staying at a Disney World hotel is beyond magical. Stormalong Bay at Disney’s Yacht Club Hotel And that goes for any hotel, whether it’s a value, moderate, or deluxe resort. No matter where you stay, you’re surrounded by Disney magic, you have free transportation to the parks, and you even have early entry (and extended evening hours for those staying at deluxe hotels)! However, just like at any hotel, there may be some issues you run into — you can solve one of those big issues by just spending $12! DISCLOSURE: This post may contain affiliate links, meaning when you click the links and make a purchase, we receive a commission. Never Run Out Of Charging Space Again! One Beat Extension Cord and Power Strip An extension cord and power strop are likely not the first (or even tenth) thing you think of packing for your Disney World trip, but we’re here to tell you that the One Beat Extension Cord and Power Strip is a MUST for your Disney World hotel stay. While we love most Disney World hotel rooms, one of their biggest downfalls is not having enough charging space for all devices. This gets even harder when the outlets that ARE there don’t all work! We own one! This makes that MUCH easier, especially if you make the choice to buy more than one. Not only does it have an extension cord built in (no more need to charge your phone near your bed but your watch across the room), but it has 3 regular plugs, 2 USB ports, AND 2 USB-C ports, all in one! Just trust us — it’s worth the $12 investment! Buy it here! Keep All Your MagicBand+s in ONE Place! MultiCharger for MagicBand+ If your family is planning on using lots of MagicBand+ on your trip and you’d like to charge them all in one place, this Multi-Charger is the way to go! However, it can be used for ANYTHING with a USB port, so it’s also a great way to make sure all your smartwatches or phones are charging in the same place (or for us, sometimes it’s our camera equipment!). MultiCharger for MagicBand+ This may not seem super important, but when it’s early morning and you and your family are trying to scramble around the hotel room to grab everything before you rush out for a wild park day, it’s helpful to have everything in one place! You can plug this into its own outlet, OR you could plug it into the power strip! Grab it here! We’re always here to bring you the latest and greatest Disney World tips, so stay tuned to DFB! SO much is changing in Disney World with even more change on the way. Lobby Concept Art ©Disney Yes, we saw the opening of a brand new ride this year, with Tiana’s Bayou Adventure, in Magic Kingdom. We’re still waiting on word for opening dates for two new restaurants at Disney’s BoardWalk: The Cake Bake Shop by Gwendolyn Rogers and Blue Ribbon Corn Dogs. We’re also tracking construction progress on Island Tower, the new DVC villas building at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort. We have confirmed that the new building will have a new restaurant, and we’re breaking down the concept art Disney released of that restaurant. We saw this new concept art at D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event — there was a display with concept art of Island Tower. This is the first time we’ve seen concept art like this, so you KNOW we had to check it all out. This art even included a first look at the rooms! The concept art display However, we’re Disney FOOD Blog, so we got really excited to see some concept art on this display of a new restaurant. Now, we expected a new restaurant at this building, but now we have official confirmation of what it will look like. It’s got a very beach vibe, HUGE windows with outdoor views, as well as adorable fish swimming just underneath the ceiling and seawood-looking plants rising up from the floor. Is this a hint that we’re looking at a new seafood dining spot in Disney World? Restaurant concept art We could also guess by the look of the restaurant that this is probably a table service location you’ll need reservations for. There does seem to be plenty of seating, though, including tables, chairs, and booth seating. Overall, though, we’re LOVING the vibe. Another piece of concept art makes it seem like there’s outdoor seating, too under a covered patio. Outdoor seating When we look at some of the construction photos, we’ve noticed an area that looks VERY similar to this part of the restaurant along the water, which is why we think there’s a water view there. The windows at the bottom look like they could be the restaurant! Of course, Disney has not yet revealed a name for this restaurant or given us any idea of what the menu might be like, but you know we’ll be keeping an eye out for more details because we are all about new food in Disney World. Island Tower is set to open in December 2025, so we’re guessing we’ll get more information any day now! So stay tuned to DFB for more. EPCOT can be one of the best parks to visit on your Disney World vacation. But, we get needing a break! The Dolphin When you’re looking to “make a break for it” OUT of EPCOT, there are several great options to consider like hopping on the Skyliner to visit Disney’s Hollywood Studios, heading back to your hotel for a quick swim (or nap), and even taking some time out to do a little shopping at Disney Springs. But we’re telling you the perfect escape plan has been crafted, and we’ve got it down to a science! While making a full day or week of Disney World’s parks is super fun, there’s just a lot to take in, see, and do. Sometimes, that can get a little overwhelming especially when you’re in a park as big as EPCOT! EPCOT You’re in good company though, because as much as we love committing to a full day in this park, on occasion, we just need a break… and a quick exit strategy. Luckily, EPCOT’s one of the most convenient parks to exit and immediately find something else to do for all levels of activity ranging from truly relaxed to “we’re keeping the party going”! But the best place we’ve found to do that is at Disney’s Swan & Dolphin Resorts. Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin So what exactly makes these seemingly unassuming hotels our top picks — they’ve got so much to offer! Let’s walk you through a few of our favorite reasons. (Re) Fuel We know, you just left EPCOT where there’s practically a food booth every time you turn around but trust us when we say the food sitch here is different. Fuel is one of the quick “grab-n-go” places you can visit for convenience-sized snacks, candies, drinks, and more. But, what we really want to highlight about this place is what’s DIFFERENT to get here. Fuel At Fuel, you can grab things like Mickey Waffles to go(!!)… Mickey Waffles! …buy Pepsi beverages including Red Bull (in fact, this is the only place on Disney World property to buy them)… Dr. Pepper! …and it’s also a super chill Dole Whip stop — bonus points though if you plan on mixing in some froyo toppings (you do you, friend). Dole Whip! Don’t trust us? Go ahead and try it out on your next visit, but we’re warning you already, you might find yourself choosing to visit EPCOT just to escape here more frequently. Camp Dolphin We’re only about to say what we’re about to say because several folks on our team are parents and sometimes you can use a small break from your kids on vacation. While things like this exist at Disney Destinations like Disney Cruise Line ships, they’re a bit fewer and farther between when at Disney World. This is the part where Camp Dolphin enters the chat! Camp Dolphin If you’re itching for a chance to ditch the kids for a few hours of fun for both parents and the kiddos alike, this could be your best opportunity. It’s quite literally a camp chocked full of activities, games, arts and crafts, and more for kids ages 5 to 12. Advanced reservations are required and space is super limited so you’ll want to make sure you’re booking as early as possible for your best chance to take advantage of this service. They’ve got time slots available for as little as 2 to 7 hours between 4 and 11PM. We’ve known lots of parents to use this service as a chance to enjoy a fancy signature dinner, enjoy a concert back inside EPCOT without having to worry about potty breaks or who’s sprinting away from your seat, take in a nightly fireworks show or simply just have a chance to relax. ©Disney Some of the kids’ clubs around Disney World’s hotels that were in operation prior to the pandemic didn’t reopen with the parks or the hotels, so the fact that this one still exists is a real treat. Psst… MORE Restaurants Are THIS Way Are you tired of visiting the same ol’ restaurants when you visit EPCOT or really looking for an enhanced experience to make your night extra memorable? You’re just a few steps away! Swan Resort Seriously, some of the best places to eat around Disney World are found right here and you’ll frequently hear us raving about the shakes and sandwiches from The Fountain, the authentic cuisine at Rosa Mexicano, and when we can’t get a reservation stopping by the bar at restaurants like Todd English’s BlueZoo. ©Disney We’ve also been known (from time to time) to skip our beloved Le Cellier in Canada for a premium experience and meal at Shula’s Steakhouse. We’re not biased though — this could totally be true of several restaurants you’ll find around these two hotels with Il Mulino and Kimonos rounding out the top of that list. When You Need A Little R&R There’s nothing like a nice spot with unmatched views when you just want to unwind for a bit. Tequila Pineapple seltzer These hotels have several lounges to explore or utilize as a quiet place to sit and eat when you need a break from the hustle and bustle of the park. We’ve been known to frequent these places when we just need a quick recharge and don’t need a huge meal, but would like somewhere to visit that’s not too far from the beaten path back to EPCOT. So there you have it, that’s our escape (err, exit) strategy that tends to satisfy all kinds of appetites and activity levels! It’s nice to be a Disney World Annual Passholder. For one thing, you can go to Disney World as often as you want. You can score free souvenirs from time to time, like those collectible Passholder magnets. You get discounts, deals, exclusive merchandise, and so much more. Oh, and did we mention the Annual Passholder-exclusive TREATS?! Yeah, there’s a lot to enjoy as an Annual Passholder. Annual Passholder magnet Recently, Disney announced a NEW Passholder-exclusive treat is available now! We headed straight to Disney World to give it a try — come along with us, and let’s get snackin’. OK, we were VERY impressed with this dessert! This may go down as one of our favorite DOLE Whip floats (it’s got the makings of a top 5 treat). The first few sips were pure heaven; there’s plenty of sweet orange flavor mixed with a tart, tangy wild berry flavor that gives the DOLE Whip the perfect amount of zing. The wild berry flavor syrup mixes with the Fanta Orange in an unexpectedly perfect way — the combination of the juicy, fruity wild berries and the sweet, citrusy orange soda is fantastic. YUM! That said, as our treat melted, it became less exciting. Towards the end, everything blended together to a sticky, foamy mess that tasted a little syrupy. Eat this quickly for the best experience! It melts quickly! Despite the messy aftermath, we would order this again and would recommend it to anyone looking for a cold, tart treat on a hot summer day. In the meantime, we’re always on the lookout for the latest Disney news, so stay tuned for more. Get ready, Disney fans…BIG change is on the horizon! Critters! If you’re still reeling with all of the announced projects at the latest D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan weekend we can’t say we blame you. So many cool and exciting announcements were made about inducting new Disney Legends, and changes to the parks and attractions, and more details were uncovered about Disney’s dive head-first into mainstream gaming. But, one big announcement was hinted at during a collaborative sing-song fast break and if you weren’t listening closely, you likely missed it! During the Horizons: Disney Experiences Showcase at D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event, Disney Experiences Chairman Josh D’Amaro (along with some quick wit and the gift of a song via celebs Darren Criss and Skylar Astin), announced several updates Disney parks visitors will see realized soon. D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event During this jaunty rendition, the opening date of Tiana’s Bayou Adventure in Disneyland was announced as November 15th, 2024 which also happens to be right around when the holiday season will kick off at Disneyland. Construction on Tiana’s Bayou Adventure However, the bigger project that was also linked to this opening also has to do with an existing land in the park. It seems that we’re getting ready to say goodbye to Critter Country as it’s set to be renamed Bayou Country when Tiana’s Bayou Adventure opens. Critter Country Bayou Country will be situated on the edge of New Orleans Square and when it’s officially rethemed, visitors will expect to find friendly woodland animals, some of which look like they’re ready to join the zydeco band inside the ride from a trumpet-playing gator to an adorable bear who craves honey along with a whole cast of bears, frogs, and other critters. Froggies and critters Bayou Country will also serve as the home to a few classic attractions you can already find at Disneyland like The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh and the Davy Crockett’s Explorer Canoes. However, dining inside the land might look a little different as it’s main quick service restaurant is also getting a quick retheming into the Hungry Bear Barbecue Jamboree. ©Disney While you’re stopping on by, don’t forget to pick up your souvenirs to remember your trip from Ray’s Berets, Louis’ Critter Club, and your sweet treats from Pooh Corner. Ray’s Berets ©Disney Overall, the entire land is expected to be complete when Tiana’s Bayou Adventure officially opens in Disneyland, however, Disney has left it a bit open ended in case a few places and areas within the land open earlier.
