  2. Are you traveling in 2025? Let’s fly! We are ready with our bags packed for our 2025 adventures! There have been some changes at the airport, surprising cities listed as top destinations, and new flight routes to be explored, but which airline are we taking? Let’s find out. Did you know that there’s a way to find out which airline is the best? Well, most punctual, at least. They all have their pros and cons, that’s true, but sometimes it comes down to which airline is the most consistent when it comes to arriving on time. For 2024, Circum has the analytics we want to know before booking our next flight. Frontier Airlines Circum focuses on aviation analytics, and it has revealed the winners of its 2024 On-Time Performance Review. In regards to the top title of most on-time Global Airline, Aeromexico took the top spot. It was on time 86.70% of the time but was followed closely by Saudia with 86.35%. Delta Airlines came in third place with 83.46% which was welcome news, since we have a Delta flight booked soon. ©Getty Images Delta was also given the Circum Platinum Award for global operation excellence thanks to its “unwavering commitment to operational performance.” Delta also topped the leaderboards in the North America category as well. After Delta, the leading airlines in North America were United Airlines, Alaska Airlines, American Airlines, and Southwest Airlines. Southwest Cabin What helps Circum decide these rankings? The airlines’ completion factor, if they were within their block time, on-time arrivals, and on-time departures. All five of the top North American airlines were within a 98% completion factor, with Southwest having the best completion factor at 99.38%. (Is anyone else surprised that they’re that high?) Orlando International Airport Delta had the most on-time arrivals at 83.46%, and Southwest had the lowest in the top five with 77.77%. I don’t know about you guys, but it feels like we have airport trouble 99.99% of the time, so hopefully, sticking with these top five airlines will help relieve our travel stress. 3. 2024 is officially almost over and to say it’s been a whirlwind for Disney World would be an understatement. Magic Kingdom We learned that a new nighttime parade is coming to Magic Kingdom, and a brand-new Villains-themed show is debuting in Disney’s Hollywood Studios — along with a NEW Pirates of the Caribbean Tavern at Magic Kingdom and the reimagined Test Track at EPCOT. But, we also learned some pretty disturbing things about Disney World this year… It isn’t always magic in the Most Magical Place on Earth. Sometimes, disturbing things can happen — even at Disney World. We’ve rounded up some of the most disturbing things we were unfortunate enough to learn about Disney World in 2024. Waffle Woes Okay, you can’t really act surprised that three out of the five “disturbing” things on our list have to do with food. We ARE Disney Food Blog, after all, so when Disney goes and makes changes to our beloved snacks, well, we riot (with our keyboards, anyway!). Back in June, Disney World ruined our lives forever when they changed the iconic waffles at Sleepy Hollow Refreshments at Magic Kingdom. We miss you! Previously, the menu at Sleepy Hollow included a regular waffle (not Mickey-shaped) with chocolate-hazelnut spread, berries, and bananas, along with a sweet-and-spicy chicken version, too. But now, the normal waffles are gone and there are only Mickey waffles available. Not only that, but you can no longer get berries and bananas on the same waffle — you have to choose between berries with powdered sugar and whipped cream or bananas with chocolate hazelnut spread and whipped cream. Fruit Mickey Waffle We tried out all the new items to see how they stacked up against the previous waffle sandwiches. Overall, we were very disappointed by these changes. The Mickey waffles are very soft and not crispy like the old waffles were. It’s possible Disney could change things back to how they used to be with the non-Mickey waffles, but so far, we haven’t seen any signs of that happening. Chicken Tendie Terror Columbia Harbour House over in Magic Kingdom likes to play games with our hearts. First, they got rid of the hush puppies, but then brought them back (we’re not saying it’s because we complained, buuuuuuut….), but recently, we discovered a shrinkflation situation happening and we’re not entirely happy about it. Hush puppies If you order the Trio Platter, which features a combination of beer-battered shrimp, chicken, and beer-battered fish served with French fries and hushpuppies, you might discover it looks a little different. Previously, the Trio Platter came with two chicken, two fish, and three shrimp. This is what it looked like. Trio Platter at Columbia Harbour House But now, when you order the Trio Platter at Columbia Harbour House, the new version of the Trio Platter only includes one fish, one chicken, three shrimp, and three hushpuppies. The price, however, has not changed. You’re getting less food for the same price, which is a bummer because this was one of our favorite meals to split! Plastic Cheese Chronicles Listen, we’re not naive here. We know that eating healthy and Disney World don’t exactly go hand-in-hand (though it’s entirely possible!) but we definitely didn’t need to know exactly how much sodium we were ingesting when we ate the glorious snack that is plastic cheese. While Disney doesn’t put out the nutrition of most of their food items, we did find a similar cheese sauce that is sold by Gehl’s to see just how much sodium is in it, and the results were… sobering. REAL plastic cheese In a 1/4 cup of Gehl’s Cheddar Cheese Sauce, you will find 570 mg of sodium which accounts for 28% of your recommended sodium intake. That is a lot of sodium for only a 1/4 cup of cheese sauce. Granted, when you get a side of cheese sauce at Disney World, it isn’t a huge serving, and if you share it with others, the amount of sodium you eat goes down. This is good to know if you are limiting your sodium intake or have other dietary restrictions. You just can’t beat it Of course, no one is under the impression that plastic cheese is healthy, but we were hoping to live in blissful ignorance for just a bit longer. Muppets Erasure We’ve said it before and we’ll say it again: NO MORE MUPPETS ERASURE IN DISNEY WORLD!!!! After the devastating news that Muppets Courtyard would be closing to make way for the new Monsters Inc. Land, Disney threw us a bone by announcing that Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith would be rethemed with an all-new Muppets design. Which is GREAT, but we can’t help but feel like Disney really just doesn’t want to give the Muppets the love they deserve. ©Disney According to Disney, the Muppets will take over Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster and “team up with music’s biggest stars for a rockin’ music festival.” Yep, that’s right — the Muppets are coming to Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster — but we’re waiting for the other shoe to drop and we find out that the Muppets days are numbered in Disney World. Actual Dead Bodies Perhaps the most disturbing thing we learned about Disney World this year, though, was that the hotels often play host to various medical conferences throughout the year that bring cadavers and cadaver body parts into the hotel ballrooms for demonstrations. Yes, you read that correctly. ©Reuters | Doctors practice on human torsos in the Grand Harbor Ballroom at Disney’s Yacht Club Resort There’s an entire industry surrounding medical conferences at Disney hotels — even ones at Disneyland and Aulani in Hawaii. Doctors get to test out new products and skills while enjoying a Disney vacation — and may get to write off some of that travel as a business expense or get reimbursed for it by their employer. It’s hard to beat that, but it does mean you may be sharing your Disney World hotel with some less-than-desirable cohorts. ©Reuters | Cadaver lab held in a hotel ballroom In the meantime, we’ll be sure to keep an eye on even more disturbing things in Disney World in 2025 and beyond! 4. It’s time for a NEW Disney World perk! Blizzard Beach Disney World has announced that in 2025, those staying at Disney hotels will get a FREE ticket to the water parks on their arrival day. You’ll be able to use this perk at either Blizzard Beach Water Park or Typhoon Lagoon Water Park, but only on your check-in day. But, if you’re hoping to use this perk tomorrow — you’re out of luck. HEADS UP! Disney’s Blizzard Beach water park will be closed on Saturday, January 4th due to incoming cold weather. Disney will often close the water parks on days when the temperatures drop. This is particularly bad news for any folks who were hoping to use their free water park perk on check-in day tomorrow. Blizzard Beach To use this benefit, all visitors hoping to get into the water parks with complimentary admission MUST be listed on the hotel reservation. Disney states that the tickets are based on availability, meaning if the park is closed for refurbishment or cold weather, you could be out of luck. The tickets are nontransferable. Disney also notes that both water parks have annual refurbishments (as has been the case the past few years), but they will continue to be staggered. The website says, “Guests should be able to enjoy at least one water park experience year-round.” You also do not get anything as a replacement perk for not using the tickets, like a credit toward your vacation or a Disney gift card. Blizzard Beach For folks who may have booked a trip with this extra water park perk in mind, this might be a disappointment — but you probably wouldn’t want to go to a water park in the cold anyway! If you are traveling in the colder months or during hurricane season, you might want to manage expectations and keep an eye on the weather. Blizzard Beach Of course, if you do arrive early and can’t take advantage of the perk, you can always relax at the hotel or head somewhere like Disney Springs instead. Bell services can even hold your luggage for you! In the meantime, we’ll be sure to keep an eye on the latest park closures you need to know about at Disney World. Make sure you stay tuned to the Disney Food Blog throughout 2025 as we bring you a look at the latest news, announcements, and more! 5. Oh, EPCOT, we love you so much, but you leave us scratching our heads, that’s for sure. Spaceship Earth Okay, so we’re still in disbelief that the big EPCOT transformation is finally over, although we might admit that we’re a little disappointed in things that didn’t make the final cut (and we’re still waiting for CommuniCore Hall and Plaza to blow us away). So we’re used to seeing construction walls and we know there is still some work to be done (like in the Canada Pavilion, for example, as well as the construction to re-theme Test Track). But a strange green wall has now appeared in EPCOT and, well, we’re not sure about the point of this unsightly addition… Okay, so the EPCOT Festival of the Holidays is officially over, which means that we’re seeing most of the festival decorations taken down and removed. Now, this year saw a new offering during the festival by Scentsy called “Festive Fragrances.” Festive Fragrances by Scentsy That display is still up, but…there’s a green wall in front of it. Now, the green wall isn’t going all around the display to block it off. No, it’s just in front of it. Is this Disney’s way of telling us NOT to look at the Festival of the Holidays decoration that hasn’t been removed yet? Please help us understand. We don’t get it All we can think of is that the wall “hides” this remnant of the previous festival while it becomes something new for the next festival, the EPCOT Festival of the Arts, which begins on January 17th. But it’s sort of weird that they just put up a wall that you can TOTALLY see around. Make it make sense, Disney! Is this just sort of “nothing to see here” kinda thing? WHAT IS GOING ON? Well, maybe we’ll get an answer, or maybe we won’t, but if you visit EPCOT and see the wall, just…don’t look at it, OK? We don’t know… Stay tuned to DFB for more. 6. Are you already deep inside the rabbit hole of planning out your 2025 Disney World trip? Welcome to Disney World! Listen, it’s all kinds of fun and magic as you dream about what rides you’ll get on and which restaurants you hit up, and then you start looking at those ticket prices. And that’s when it feels like you need a fairy godmother just to afford a single day in the parks! With that in mind and since you’re still in the middle of planning, let’s talk about the dates you’ll want to avoid at all costs. Trust us, these are the times when Disney’s magic comes with an extra hefty price tag and serious crowds. Here’s the deal – in case you didn’t know, Disney World ticket prices fluctuate based on demand, holidays, and even the day of the week. While some times of year are surprisingly affordable, others can be almost double the cost. We’re here to break it all down for you so you can save your sanity (and your wallet). Magic Kingdom The Most Expensive Days to Visit Disney World in 2025 Let’s cut right to the chase: Magic Kingdom is the priciest of all the Disney parks. In 2025, single-day tickets for Magic Kingdom range from $139 on the cheapest days to $199 on the most expensive ones. If you’re set on visiting the castle, keep these wallet-busting weeks in mind and steer clear unless you absolutely have to go. Presidents’ Day Week (February 14–23, 2025): This long weekend kicks off peak pricing for the year. With schools on break and families flocking to Disney World, Magic Kingdom tickets average on the higher end (think $180+). And the crowds are also no joke. Spring Break (March 23–30, 2025): Basically from mid-March through the end of April, ticket prices hover between $184 and $189. This is one of the most popular time for families to visit, and it shows in both crowd levels and ticket prices. If you’re looking for a more budget-friendly trip, skip spring break altogether. Spring Break crowds Easter Week (April 11–20, 2025): Easter falls on April 20th in 2025, and the entire week leading up to it is packed. Expect top-tier ticket prices and long waits for rides. Summer Peak (July 3–12, 2025): Ah, summer vacation. While the last week of June is expensive, things really heat up (literally and figuratively) around the Fourth of July. Tickets average $189 during this time, and the parks are packed with guests making the most of their summer break. Main Street U.S.A. crowds on 4th of July Columbus Day Week (October 10–18, 2025): October might seem like a quieter time to visit, but with Columbus Day falling on October 13th, this week sees a spike in prices. Magic Kingdom tickets during this time average $179 or more. Thanksgiving Week (November 21–28, 2025): Thanksgiving at Disney World is magical to be sure, but it’s also one of the most expensive weeks of the year. Tickets hover around $199 for Magic Kingdom, and the parks are packed with holiday visitors. Thanksgiving Day Crowds in Magic Kingdom Christmas Week (December 18–25, 2025): No surprise here – Christmas is peak Disney. Ticket prices hit the $199 maximum, and the parks are packed with holiday festivities. If you’re dreaming of seeing Cinderella’s Castle all decked out in its holiday best, be prepared to pay a premium. New Year’s Eve Week (December 26–31, 2025): Want to ring in the New Year at Disney? So does everyone else. Tickets during this week are also at the $199 high point, and crowd levels are off the charts. Magic Kingdom on New Year’s Eve (2022) Why These Dates Are So Expensive Disney World pricing is all about supply and demand. When kids are out of school or families are celebrating holidays, ticket prices climb. Magic Kingdom, being the most iconic park, always has the highest prices compared to EPCOT, Hollywood Studios, and Animal Kingdom. Animal Kingdom Spring Break Crowds During the weeks we’ve highlighted, you’re not just paying for a ticket – you’re paying a premium for high demand. And while Disney World during the holidays or summer vacation can be magical, it’s worth asking yourself if the crowds and costs are really worth it. When Should You Visit Instead? If you want to save money and avoid the madness, plan your trip during late August or early September. Tickets for Magic Kingdom hit their lowest prices of the year during this window, averaging between $139 and $164. Crowds were sparse this morning As a bonus, these are also some of the least crowded weeks, so you’ll spend less time in line and more time enjoying the magic. Last Thoughts Disney World is incredible, but it can also be incredibly expensive if you’re not careful. By avoiding these peak weeks in 2025, you’ll save big on tickets, reduce your time spent in long lines, and enjoy a more relaxed experience. So, grab your calendar, circle the cheap weeks (late August to early September), and start planning your trip around those dates. Your wallet and your patience will thank you! In fact, we just found a major hack for the Disney Dining Plan! In case you haven’t heard just yet, the Disney Dining Plan is bringing back free dining in 2025, and we couldn’t be more excited! If you book your trip to begin on the last day of these open windows, you can still get this offer. ©Disney To avoid any confusion, if your trip begins on June 26th or August 6th, you can extend the time you get free dining. We walked through the booking process online, and if you want to book, first select the dates and resort where you’re staying. After that, you’ll spot the special offers that you qualify for, and this is when you will select the one that includes the Dining Plan. ©Disney Once you select your room type and the special deal, it’s as simple as walking through the process. Depending on which resort you select, you will have the offer of the Quick Service Dining Plan or the Disney Dining Plan. Value and Moderate resorts have access to Quick Service Dining, and Delux or Delux Villa resorts have access to the Standard Disney Dining Plan. If you’re booking on those last days of the deal, you have access to free dining for the entire length of your stay, up to 14 days. ©Disney This is a huge hack if you’re staying just outside of the windows of time when summer free dining is being offered. The booking window is only open for a little over a month, and free dining will only be available for around two months. It’s no secret Disney World can be pretty pricey, so any chance to save some cash, we’ll take it! A little something to snack on If you aren’t sure which dining plan is right for you, there’s nothing to worry about. It’s pretty straightforward. With the Quick Service Dining Plan, each guest gets 2 quick-service meals and 1 snack per night. The Standard Disney Dining Plan comes with 1 table service meal, 1 quick service meal, and 1 snack per person per night. Both plans also give each person a refillable resort mug, which is one of our favorite little perks. Refillable Mug The Disney Dining Plan is available all year (just not the free one), and if you decide to pay, it’ll cost you. Here is a breakdown of the pricing: Quick Service Disney Dining Plan: $59.14 per night per adult (ages 10 and up) $24.70 per night per child (age 3-9) Standard Disney Dining Plan: $97.70 per night per adult (ages 10 and up) $30.78 per night per child (age 3-9) Gaston’s Tavern — Warm Cinnamon Roll We are super excited to see this offer coming back in summer 2025! The Disney Dining Plan isn’t the best way to save money, but Free Disney Dining? That’s a totally different story. 10. When we think about the magic of Disney, it’s easy to picture enchanting castles, earworm songs, and iconic characters who shaped our childhoods, right? ©Disney But for Lin-Manuel Miranda, the man behind Hamilton and Encanto, it wasn’t just magic – it was life-changing inspiration. In a recent interview, Miranda revealed the spark that set him on a path toward creating some of the most memorable musical theater of our time. That source was none other than Sebastian, the feisty, calypso-singing crab from The Little Mermaid. Lin Manuel-Miranda “I was nine years old when I first saw The Little Mermaid,” Miranda shared. “When Sebastian started singing ‘Under the Sea,’ it blew my tiny 9-year-old mind.” It wasn’t just the vibrant animation or the catchy melody; it was the way the song blended storytelling with an unforgettable rhythm. Miranda credits that moment as the reason he’s in theater today. ©Disney For Miranda, Sebastian wasn’t just another character. He was a bridge between storytelling and music, and that’s something Miranda has built his career on. The song “Under the Sea,” crafted by Disney legends Howard Ashman and Alan Menken, introduced Miranda to the power of combining compelling lyrics with captivating melodies. ©Oscars And honestly, can we blame him? “Under the Sea” is still a total bop. It’s the kind of tune that sticks with you, weaving its way into your subconscious until you find yourself humming it days later. For young Lin-Manuel, it was more than catchy; it was transformative. ©Disney Fast forward to today, and Miranda has taken that inspiration to new heights. With musicals like Hamilton, In the Heights, and Disney’s Encanto, he’s carried the legacy of Ashman and Menken’s storytelling magic into his own work. His ability to craft songs that move audiences emotionally (and get stuck in their heads for weeks) mirrors the very magic he fell in love with as a kid. ©Disney Sebastian’s influence even helped Miranda secure his first Disney gig on Moana. In his pitch to directors Ron Clements and John Musker – who also directed The Little Mermaid – he referenced Sebastian as his muse. “You guys are the reason I’m even sitting here talking to you,” he told them. And clearly, it worked. Miranda went on to create Moana’s iconic “How Far I’ll Go,” channeling the same universal appeal that made Sebastian’s calypso hit a classic. ©Disney Now, Miranda’s connection to Disney continues with his recent work on Mufasa: The Lion King, where he wrote seven songs for the prequel. Each piece reflects his ability to weave story, emotion, and music together – an ability he first glimpsed watching a crab with a thick Caribbean accent convince a mermaid to stay underwater. ©Disney Who would’ve thought a little crab could inspire one of the most influential figures in modern theater? I guess that’s Disney magic for you. Don’t forget to stay tuned to the Disney Food Blog for the latest from Disney and more! A MAJOR Disney Celebrity Is Coming to Orlando SOON! 12. Come with us to a popular Disney World hotel for our latest restaurant review! Coronado Springs It’s true that Disney World is always changing, which means we have to stay on our toes to bring you reviews of the resort’s newest restaurants. However, that doesn’t mean we neglect older establishments. In fact, we make a concentrated effort to revisit restaurants we’ve previously reviewed just to see if they’re maintaining standards or improving quality. Additionally, menus change all the time so we make sure to stay up-to-date with each restaurant’s offerings. For this review, we’re revisiting a hotel bar and lounge! If you head over to the Gran Destino Tower at Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort, you might feel inclined to check out Dahlia Lounge for some bites and drinks. That’s exactly what we did and we’re here to fill you in on what this lounge has to offer. Let’s see if it still holds up since our last review! Atmosphere Dahlia Lounge is an upscale rooftop lounge located next to the Tower’s Toledo — Tapas, Steak, & Seafood restaurant. Welcome to Dahlia Lounge This lounge is extra special thanks to the amazing views it offers. Dahlia features a unique look above Disney World and you might even catch a glimpse of some nighttime spectaculars. Views from the rooftop lounge Inside, Dahlia Lounge is quite literally a work of art. Our eyes are immediately drawn to the coffered ceilings and dandelion chandeliers, and you’ll find a combination of surrealism and Spanish Modernism in its theming, including at the bar. Bar seating consists of tufted leather bar stools while the granite bartop conveniently features outlets, USB ports, and bag hooks. Dahlia Lounge The lighting in this lounge is simply phenomenal. Mirrors surround the lounge and light from the sunset beautifully reflects off them. The strategic ambient lighting and large spherical light fixtures highlight gorgeous artwork at the bar, hanging on the ceiling, and attached to the walls. Even the floor tiles feature patterns and optical illusions within a hexagonal design. Dahlia Lounge You’ll even find photos of painter Salvador Dalí and Walt Disney in the seating areas, as well as prints of the Dahlia and the iconic bell from Destino, Walt Disney Animation Studios’ surrealist short film released in 2003. Its production began in 1945 as a collaboration between Walt Disney and Dalí and was eventually completed in 2003. Photos in the seating area The seating in the lounge is arranged like vignettes — each featuring distinct spaces within the overall restaurant space. You’ll notice multi-sexed tables, armchairs, patio benches and chairs, coffee tables, pillows, and relaxed lounging areas that really lean into the upscale, yet calm setting. Seating The outdoor patio is simple, cozy, and ideal if you want to take in the views. Disney’s Hollywood Studios and EPCOT are both within view, specifically. Outdoor seating with a VIEW The lounge is truly spectacular from an aesthetic standpoint, but we’re really here for the eats and drinks, so let’s jump right into the menu! Menu Dahlia Lounge offers Tapas and specialty cocktails crafted by mixologists. Notably, Spanish cavas are highlighted on the wine list. Menu The lounge is typically open from 5PM to midnight daily, and you’ll have access to a full bar. Menu We tried quite a bit of offerings, so without further ado, let’s get into the eats! Eats For our meal, we tried the Dahlia Sliders, Tapas Trio, and Smoked Paprika Chips. Dahlia Sliders We started with the Dahlia Sliders, which you can get for $17. The sliders are served with beef with chorizo spice, black garlic aïoli, house-pickled onions, and Manchego on a brioche poppy seed bun with patatas Bravas sauce. You’ll immediately get a taste of that sweet pickle when biting into the sliders, so your reaction will depend on how you feel about that flavor. We were big fans of the cheese and buns, and it’s nice that the appetizer is shareable. The patatas bravas come with a spicy and smoky sauce with a chipotle element to it, and there is essentially one pre-sauced steak frite for every slider. A solid choice Overall, we felt this appetizer is actually a really good value and good to share, especially if you aren’t super hungry. However, we felt having only three large fries was kind of odd. Tapas Trio The Tapas Trio was up next and set us back $18. This dish comes with octopus ceviche, ‘Aceitunas’ marinated olives, and tomato spread with grilled bread. Octopus Ceviche The Tapas Trio was excellent! We were surprised by the texture of the octopus, which was tender and finely chopped. This also had some bell pepper and red onions, and the brine was cooked in some vinegar and lime, which contributed to something akin to pasta salad. We even think even people who might be nervous about trying octopus would like this if they give it a try. ‘Aceitunas’ Marinated Olives The marinated olives were also delicious, and if you dig olives, you should definitely give this a try. We also noticed some Marcona almonds spiced in with the olives, and we really liked this because it provided a nice, crunchy texture. Tomato Spread Finally, the tomato spread was solid but was just some crushed-up tomatoes, so it’s nothing to write home about. Still, we felt the whole dish was very fresh, and offered some nice acidity to go along with some really warm and soft bread. We recommend trying it out! Smoked Paprika Chips Finally, we got the Smoked Paprika Chips, which cost $9. The chips are served with a plant-based chimichurri aïoli. We do not feel you need to be strictly a plant-based eater to enjoy this. We really liked these and found them to be crispy-fried, just like the Disney World homemade chips or housemade chips that we enjoy at other places. The big difference here is that these chips have a smoke. The Paprika spice on them adds a nice color and a sharp flavor, while the chimichurri aïoli was absolutely delicious. It is cilantro-heavy (which we loved), so be advised of that. Overall, we love the price and size, and this is a great snack to pair with some wine, so check it out! These chips pass the vibe check Speaking of wine, you know we had to try some beverages! Drinks We chose to sip on the El Pepino and Sangria-Tini! El Pepino and Sangria-Tini First, we started with the El Pepino, which costs $16.50. This drink is made with Xoriguer Gin de Mahón, Ancho Reyes Verde Chile Poblano, St~Germain Elderflower Liqueur, lime, and cucumber. El Pepino This is such a well-balanced cocktail with lots of strong flavors without anything overpowering. It is cucumber-forward, so keep that in mind, and the Ancho Reyes Verde Chile Poblano has a slight spice, but overall, this was fairly smooth and quite nice. Sangria-Tini The Sangria-Tini costs $14.50 and is made with Stolichnaya Vodka, Viña Borgia Garnacha, Combier Crème de Pêche de Vigne Liqueur, and lime. You get a lot of peach when you’re on the nose of this drink, but it’s also not super sweet. Ultimately, this is a fruity drink and if you like that, you might like this. It’s not annoyingly sweet, and this may still appease folks who aren’t red wine fans. Be warned,d though, this drink is deceptively strong. Overall Dahlia Lounge remains a winner. This is one of the better lounges at Disney World, and it’s tough to beat the menu and views. Outdoor Seating The atmosphere is exquisite, and the service is awesome, so if you find yourself looking for late-night bites and drinks and you’re visiting Coronado Springs, make a visit! Nosh or Not? Make it a goal to visit Dahlia Lounge if… You love Spanish cuisine. While not purely authentic, we find the meals here to be quite tasty and the alcoholic beverages to be worth the visit. You don’t have a huge appetite. There are shareable appetizers and smaller dishes here, which is perfect if you just want a cocktail and a small bite. You want to experience fantastic views. With a great look at the surrounding area from above, there aren’t many better views in all of Disney World. Dine elsewhere if… You’re with picky eaters. This is a more refined lounge meant for more mature palates. Check out the Siestas Cantina pool bar for offerings like burgers and sandwiches. You need a full meal. Dahlia Lounge is just that — a lounge. If you want a sit-down experience, head next door to Toledo — Tapas, Steaks and Seafood. It’s too early. As we previously mentioned, Dahlia Lounge opens at 5PM. If you want to drink and dine earlier, Coronado Springs offers a wide range of eateries that will be open and ready to serve you! 13. It’s not uncommon for celebrities to visit the Disney parks! Magic Kingdom Seriously, some of them love experiencing the magic as much as we do, and they often visit for work-related events or even just for fun with their families! Some celebs we’ve seen visit Disney World multiple times and one of those people is a famous Marvel actor. Chris Evans recently made a trip to Magic Kingdom, and he got to live out our childhood dreams with one major moment. Nope, it wasn’t meeting Mickey Mouse or stepping inside Cinderella Castle…it was something so much simpler. ©Disney | Chris Evans at Magic Kingdom in 2021 Chris Evans managed to pull the sword from the stone, and we (really meaning yours truly) are SO jealous! We suppose that the same guy who’s worthy of wielding Mjolnir in the MCU is also worthy of ruling Camelot, but still. RUDE. ©Disney Disney Parks shared a picture of him on Instagram pulling out the sword — do you know how many times I’ve tried this to no avail?! Alas, maybe one day it will be my turn to succeed in such a manner. Until then, Chris Evans, you and I have BEEF. ©Disney | UNFAIR, WE TELL YOU For those who don’t know about the sword in the stone, it’s located in front of Prince Charming Regal Carrousel in Fantasyland. Throughout the day, dozens (if not hundreds) of people will step up to the rock and try and pull out the iconic sword for a photo op. But the sword only actually comes out of the stone on rare occasions. (Most often it seems to work for children, more than adults.) Fantasyland WARNING: Magical spoilers ahead for how the effect actually works. Scroll past if you don’t want to know! So how does the sword actually work? Well, a nearby Cast Member (perhaps one incognito), will have a trigger switch that allows the sword to be released at certain times. They typically try not to activate the switch too often, so that it can remain a rare and special occurrence. Sword in the Stone But we suppose that Chris Evans is a worthy choice for pulling the sword. Either way, we need him to teach us his tricks! 14. It’s no secret that I love going to Disneyland. While it’s my job to visit, it’s also something I do passionately with tons of anticipation. With that said, I don’t love everything about Disneyland, specifically one particular smell. Sleeping Beauty Castle There’s no denying that Disneyland Park has the ability to transport guests to a magical world away from life’s problems with its incredible lands, attractions, shows, and snacks. The smells of popcorn and bromine can also trigger some heavy nostalgia, but it’s safe to say not all Disneyland smells are good. In fact, there’s one smell in particular I personally need to warn you about so that you can avoid it during your next trip. Look, I love walking past the churro and popcorn carts, generally. Disney’s Smellitzer technique of pumping scents into the air usually work on me, especially at popcorn carts. With that said, there is one food cart in particular that could probably use a Smellitzer, as it has a rancid odor. Churro Cart near Sleeping Beauty Castle The smell in question can be found in the area between Sleeping Beauty Castle and Matterhorn Bobsleds at the Churros near Sleeping Beauty Castle cart. This churro cart can get super busy due to its central location, but its long lines aren’t why I avoid it. Instead, I often get my churros elsewhere due to a smell I can best describe as a non-airconditioned Haunted Mansion on a July afternoon. In short, it stinks. Churros Cart I don’t know why and it’s a bit hard to explain, but this churro cart often has a smell akin to body odor, sewage, or…umm…Code V. That doesn’t mean the area isn’t sanitary. I’ve been in this area hundreds if not thousands of times in my lifetime, and when I pick up on this smell, time of day and foot traffic varies. I’ve smelled this repulsive odor during the busiest of days, I’ve smelled it when no one was in the park, I’ve smelled it on a crisp winter’s night when exiting the park — you name it. I’ve even smelled it when the cart was shut down and non-operational! Churro! I don’t know the exact cause of this odor, but I know I’m not alone in smelling it. Others have picked up on it and there are some theories as to what’s causing this B.O.-like stench. One answer could be an accumulation of actual body odor during the day. Southern California gets hot and lines can omit not-so-pleasant smells. Still, the way it lingers and the fact this is an outdoor spot makes this theory a bit difficult to accept. Sleeping Beauty Castle The lingering smell could be from nearby sewage, although I can neither confirm nor deny that. Another theory is that the cart might need maintenance. Churro oil does in fact go bad over time and expired oil doesn’t exactly smell all too great. All in all, I’m simply speculating and can’t pinpoint why the area smells the way it does. I only know that it does smell that way. Fortunately for me, Disneyland is PACKED with churro stands and there are plenty of other places where one can easily get this delicious snack. Disney100 Churro If you’ve visited the churro stand next to Sleeping Beauty Castle, chime in! Have you smelled this stench before? Am I simply imagining things? If you’ve smelled it too, let us know what you think is the cause and if you plan on visiting too, stop by the area if you’re feeling brave enough and share your thoughts! 15. If you’ve ever visited the West Coast, as a Disney fan, we’re sure you’ve made time to visit Disneyland (like we ALWAYS will make a Disneyland trip if we find ourselves in Southern California). ©Disney Family Museum Maybe you’ve even managed to get in on one of those exclusive D23 Walt Disney Studios tours where you can visit the ACTUAL working studios of the company and even see Walt’s preserved office space. However, if you’re in Northern California and you skip out on the Walt Disney Family Museum in San Francisco, you may be missing out. We recently dropped by the museum and were blown away by everything there is to see. Perhaps one of the most impressive displays in the museum is the 12-foot diameter model of Disneyland. 17. Disneyland is going through some MAJOR changes right now. Downtown Disney Anaheim Over at Disneyland Park, Tiana’s Bayou Adventure has officially opened and Haunted Mansion just got a brand-new queue and gift shop! Changes are on the horizon at Disney California Adventure, and Downtown Disney is getting new restaurants and shops — with three more stores on the way! The Downtown Disney district in Anaheim is undergoing a serious makeover right now. We just saw two new stores open along with multiple restaurants in the past year, and the changes aren’t stopping anytime soon! According to the Orange County Register, three new stores will be coming to Downtown Disney. Downtown Disney The former ESPN Zone on the west side of this shopping and dining district will be transformed into three new storefronts as part of a $3.5 million conversion of the building that has largely been vacant for over six years. ESPN Zone, Downtown Disney Commercial construction permits have been filed with the Anaheim Planning and Building Department which calls for the defunct sports bar to be divided into two stores on the bottom floor and another store on the top floor. As of now, Disney hasn’t made any announcements as to what tenants might be moving into these stores. ESPN Zone building fenced off While we don’t have any details on what stores will end up in these three spots, we can’t wait to see more development and growth at Downtown Disney! 18. Yes, we’re obsessed with Disney snacks — we track them like it’s our JOB (because actually, it is!). Disney Springs We’re constantly on the lookout for new treats at the parks and resorts, and we try literally HUNDREDS of eats each year in search for the ultimate snacks to recommend to our followers. Over the past several years, we’ve had some snack spots stand out above the others, and among them is Gideon’s Bakehouse. 21. EPCOT is certainly a fan-favorite Disney World park, and for good reasons. EPCOT You can be a “world traveler” around World Showcase, stopping at each of the 11 countries to experience their cultures through food, art, architecture, and more. You can also travel through space on Mission: SPACE or Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind. Or experience both the Land and Sea at the pavilions. There’s a wide variety of things to do and learn at EPCOT. But soon, EPCOT will look totally different than it does right now! One of our favorite things to do at EPCOT is participate in one of the four seasonal festivals that come to the park throughout the year. The EPCOT Festival of the Holidays just recently ended on December 30th, so the park is currently empty of food booths and exclusive entertainment. EPCOT Festival of the Holidays Briefly, there is a break between festivals for the time being, but that will be changing in 16 days. Starting on January 17th, the 2025 EPCOT Festival of the Arts will begin! Be prepared for the park to get a completely new look once again as the first 2025 festival begins. 2024 EPCOT Festival of the Arts This festival will showcase art in all ways — paint, chalk, food, theater, and more! New food booths are coming to the festival, as well as new photo opportunities. You can try food at all the food studios, take in a Disney on Broadway concert at the American Adventure Pavilion, see live visual art performances, admire chalk art, meet artists, create your own animation, and participate in the scavenger hunt. Seriously, there’s a TON to do at this EPCOT festival. Festival of the Arts 2024 As we get closer to the beginning of this festival, we’ll start to see food studios and other festival items popping up around EPCOT. We can’t wait to try out all the food and experience all the artful entertainment. The festival runs from January 17th through February 24th, so you’ll have a little over one month to check it out yourself. Figment’s Inspiration Station at the 2024 Festival of the Arts As we continue to learn more about what’s coming to the 2025 EPCOT Festival of the Arts, you can be sure that we’ll be sharing it here on the blog! So stay tuned to DFB for even more artful announcements and for full reviews of everything at the festival on opening day. 9 Major Changes Coming to Disney World in January MAKE THE MOST OF YOUR FESTIVAL DAYS DFB's guide to the Festival of the Arts details everything you need to know to maximize your time, budget, and stomach space! 23. Boomers have surely seen some changes to Disney World over the years. Magic Kingdom Just think of how much has changed in the last 10 years alone. You have to use the MyDisney App for basically everything and Lightning Lanes and Mobile Orders are everyday lingo for Disney adults. So what was one perk that Boomers would remember that most of us have forgotten or maybe never heard of? Tables in Wonderland was a Walt Disney World discount dining program that was open to Annual Passholders, Disney Vacation Club members, and Florida Residents. The membership provided a 20% discount on food and beverages (including alcohol) at over 100 restaurants and lounges in Walt Disney World parks and hotels. Tables in Wonderland Membership Card While this sounds amazing, unfortunately, all Tables in Wonderland cards expired as of September 1, 2021. So how much did this cost? The cost for a Tables in Wonderland membership was $175 per year for Florida residents and $150 per year for Disney Vacation Club members, and Annual/Seasonal Passholders. Tables in Wonderland Extension In addition to the 20% discount on food and beverages, membership included: Complimentary resort/hotel parking (including valet parking) when dining in a restaurant at that resort. Note: Complimentary parking requires a valid dining receipt. Reimbursement for theme park parking when dining in a theme park restaurant. Note: Pay for parking at the toll booth. Present a valid dining receipt at the guest relations booth after dinner to receive a refund (if it’s been less than 3 hours). After 5PM, just show your membership card at the toll booth. Invitations to special member-only events, like the Contemporary Resort’s Chef’s Table Experience, Culinary Adventures with the Chefs of Disney, and others. Tables in Wonderland was valid for one year from date of purchase. San Angel Inn in EPCOT It was worth it if you frequented the gates of Disney World often and it could have helped you save money after just a few meals. That’s all fine and dandy, sure, but there were extra hidden fees. 18% gratuity was added to parties of all sizes at table service restaurants. (Not at quick-service locations, though!) And if you lost your card? That’s a $50 replacement fee. Tusker House It’s been 3 years since this perk expired and we’re not sure there are any signs of it coming back just yet. But, we know around here to never say never. It felt like the Dining Plan took a while to come back so maybe there is still hope!
