We are LIVE at D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event at the Anaheim Convention Center in Anaheim, California. Event guide Y’all — we are having A BLAST, despite the crowds, and the fact that we couldn’t get in line for the Disney Lorcana booth. However, we’ve had a chance to visit an incredibly immersive Avatar exhibit (it was almost like being in Pandora at Disney’s Animal Kingdom), and we got to see a ride vehicle for a brand new ride. We’ve also had a chance to see some pretty amazing technology, including a Marvel experience that we think needs to come to the parks ASAP. #af-form-501507268 .af-body{font-family:Helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:16px;color:inherit;background-image:none;background-position:inherit;background-repeat:no-repeat;padding-top:15px;padding-bottom:15px;} #af-form-501507268 {border-style:none;border-width:1px;border-color:#454545;background-color:#FFFFFF;} #af-form-501507268 .af-standards .af-element{padding-left:60px;padding-right:60px;} #af-form-501507268 .af-quirksMode{padding-left:60px;padding-right:60px;} #af-form-501507268 .af-header{font-family:Helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:18px;color:inherit;border-top-style:none;border-right-style:none;border-bottom-style:none;border-left-style:none;border-width:1px;border-color:#FFFFFF;background-image:none;background-position:inherit;background-repeat:no-repeat;background-color:#CFCB4B;padding-left:10px;padding-right:10px;padding-top:9px;padding-bottom:9px;} #af-form-501507268 .af-footer{font-family:Helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:12px;color:inherit;border-top-style:none;border-right-style:none;border-bottom-style:none;border-left-style:none;border-width:1px;background-image:none;background-position:top left;background-repeat:no-repeat;background-color:#FFFFFF;padding-left:16px;padding-right:16px;padding-top:0px;padding-bottom:0px;} #af-form-501507268 .af-body input.text, #af-form-501507268 .af-body textarea{border-color:#454545;border-width:1px;border-style:solid;font-family:Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;font-size:24px;font-weight:normal;font-style:normal;text-decoration:none;color:#454545;background-color:#FFFFFF;} #af-form-501507268 .af-body input.text:focus, #af-form-501507268 .af-body textarea:focus{border-style:solid;border-width:1px;border-color:#454545;background-color:#FFFFFF;} #af-form-501507268 .af-body label.previewLabel{font-family:Helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:18px;font-weight:normal;font-style:normal;text-decoration:none;color:#454545;display:block;float:none;text-align:left;width:auto;} #af-form-501507268 .af-body .af-textWrap{width:98%;display:block;float:none;} #af-form-501507268 .buttonContainer input.submit{font-family:Helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:18px;font-weight:normal;font-style:normal;text-decoration:none;color:#FFFFFF;background-color:#1CA7BF;background-image:none;} #af-form-501507268 .buttonContainer{text-align:right;} #af-form-501507268 .af-body label.choice{font-family:inherit;font-size:inherit;font-weight:normal;font-style:normal;text-decoration:none;color:#454545;} #af-form-501507268 .af-body a{font-weight:normal;font-style:normal;text-decoration:none;color:#454545;} #af-form-501507268, #af-form-501507268 .quirksMode{width:100%;max-width:418.0px;} #af-form-501507268.af-quirksMode{overflow-x:hidden;} #af-form-501507268 .af-quirksMode .bodyText{padding-top:2px;padding-bottom:2px;} #af-form-501507268{overflow:hidden;} #af-form-501507268 button,#af-form-501507268 input,#af-form-501507268 submit,#af-form-501507268 textarea,#af-form-501507268 select,#af-form-501507268 label,#af-form-501507268 optgroup,#af-form-501507268 option {float:none;margin:0;position:static;} #af-form-501507268 select,#af-form-501507268 label,#af-form-501507268 optgroup,#af-form-501507268 option {padding:0;} #af-form-501507268 input,#af-form-501507268 button,#af-form-501507268 textarea,#af-form-501507268 select {font-size:100%;} #af-form-501507268 .buttonContainer input.submit {width:auto;} #af-form-501507268 form,#af-form-501507268 textarea,.af-form-wrapper,.af-form-close-button,#af-form-501507268 img {float:none;color:inherit;margin:0;padding:0;position:static;background-color:none;border:none;} #af-form-501507268 div {margin:0;} #af-form-501507268 {display:block;} #af-form-501507268 body,#af-form-501507268 dl,#af-form-501507268 dt,#af-form-501507268 dd,#af-form-501507268 h1,#af-form-501507268 h2,#af-form-501507268 h3,#af-form-501507268 h4,#af-form-501507268 h5,#af-form-501507268 h6,#af-form-501507268 pre,#af-form-501507268 code,#af-form-501507268 fieldset,#af-form-501507268 legend,#af-form-501507268 blockquote,#af-form-501507268 th,#af-form-501507268 td { float:none;color:inherit;margin:0;padding:0;position:static;} #af-form-501507268 p { color:inherit;} #af-form-501507268 ul,#af-form-501507268 ol {list-style-image:none;list-style-position:outside;list-style-type:disc;padding-left:40px;} #af-form-501507268 .bodyText p {margin:1em 0;} #af-form-501507268 table {border-collapse:collapse;border-spacing:0;} #af-form-501507268 fieldset {border:0;} .af-clear{clear:both;} .af-form{box-sizing:border-box; Name: Email: So we visited the TVA (aka the Time Variance Authority) exhibit and saw a TON of cool Marvel things. While we were there, though, we got to have a one-on-one conversation with Rocket Raccoon. No, really! WE TALKED TO ROCKET RACCOON. Basically, the experience is a lot like the interactive Turtle Talk with Crush, but with the world’s sassiest raccoon. Just chatting with Rocket Rocket just kinda’ conversed with us and interacted with our group and it was INCREDIBLE. He was appearing via a portal at the TVA. Of course, we have no idea if this is something Disney is testing for the parks or just a little something it worked up in its free time to show off at D23. Disney Imagineers like to do that sometimes, after all. However, if you are visiting D23 this weekend, be sure to stop by the TVA to say hello to Rocket — he’ll say hello right back (well, he’ll probably say something snarky, but that’s Rocket for you). Have you been keeping up with all the latest Disney Cruise Line news? ©Disney Inspired by Walt Disney’s lifelong love of adventure, the Disney Treasure is set to join the Disney fleet later this year and we’ve been keeping up with every update since its announcement. That includes the recent reveal of a Guardians of the Galaxy dinner show coming to the ship! The new Disney Treasure dinner show will be based on Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy and is officially called “Marvel Celebration of Heroes: Groot Remix”. ©Disney This dinner show is billed as a totally immersive dining experience where Groot will bring diners along for a screen-based quest to throw a surprise party for Rocket Raccoon. During dinner, you’ll get to listen to a Starlord-approved “awesome mixtape” of songs while you’re challenged to answer Marvel trivia questions. ©Disney This experience will be held at the Worlds of Marvel restaurant on one of two nights. During the other evening, Disney Treasure passengers will get to experience Avengers: Quantum Encounter, which is already available on the Disney Wish. Worlds of Marvel This Marvel Cinematic Universe dining adventure features an original storyline starring Ant-Man and The Wasp in addition to some other Marvel heroes. The story is action-packed and comes in three acts, allowing you time to chow down on cuisine inspired by your favorite Marvel heroes. Worlds of Marvel — Ant-Man and The Wasp While we can’t yet comment on the new Guardians of the Galaxy show, we do have some overall thoughts on Avengers: Quantum Encounter. The show was a bit too screen-based for our liking and we’re hoping both dinner shows take a step forward to become more immersive. While we understand that lack of immersion can be a good thing — especially when eating dinner with your family — this is Disney after all and it’s ok to go a bit bigger now and again. Either way, we CAN’T WAIT to experience these new Disney Treasure offerings! ©Disney We’re super stoked for the launch of the Disney Treasure and we’ll continue to bring you updates on the new ship as they roll out. EPCOT has seen a lot of changes over the past few years! EPCOT The EPCOT Transformation was finally completed on June 10th, 2024, and the project brought us new attractions like Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind and Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure. It also brought us a new festival space when CommuniCore Hall and Plaza opened. We even got a new main quick-service location called Connections Cafe and Eatery, and right next door came a brand-new gift shop called the Creations Shop. And how can we forget Journey of Water: Inspired by Moana? While we love this transformation, we can’t stop thinking about what could have been. Have you ever been walking between Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind and Mission Space? You may have noticed a golden dome and wondered what it was. The Wonders of Life Pavilion Well, this dome actually used to be home to a pavilion! The Wonders of Life Pavilion opened on October 19th, 1989, seven years after EPCOT opened. This pavilion was home to several attractions, including Cranium Command (we love you, Buzzy!), Body Wars, The Making of Me, Coach’s Corner, Goofy About Health, and the Fitness Fairgrounds. ©Wikipedia These attractions taught you about — I am sure you can guess it — life. Body Wars was a simulator ride that took you through the human body and used the same technology that is still used today on Star Tours. ©Wikipedia You could even watch a film featuring Martin Short in the Wonders of Life Pavilion! The Making of Me was a film about human development starting at birth and featured Martin Short. Cranium Command featured Buzzy, an audio-animatronic that controlled a 12-year-old boy’s brain. The show was continuous and repeated every 18 minutes. ©Wikipedia Well, unfortunately, after stores, and dining locations started to close inside the pavilion, the Wonders of Life Pavilion officially closed permanently after operating seasonally on January 1st, 2007. Although the attractions closed, you could still enter the building seasonally, as it was used as the EPCOT festivals’ headquarters from 2007 to 2018. ©Wikipedia In 2019, Disney announced that the previous home to the Wonders of Life Pavilion would be transformed into something brand new: The Play! Pavilion. ©Disney || Play Pavilion Concept Art This was set to be a “digital metropolis” that would feature interactive experiences, games, entertainment, and hands-on activities. It would also be home to plenty of Disney characters, both virtual and real. PLAY! Pavilion as of January 2023 The Play! Pavilion was featured in the EPCOT Experience, which was hosted in the Odyssey. It was on EPCOT park maps, and even construction walls at EPCOT featured concept art for this new pavilion. EPCOT Experience Unfortunately, in January of 2023, the Play! Pavilion was removed from park maps. And as of August 2024, there is no word on if the Play! Pavilion will come to fruition as it seems to be on an indefinite pause. The Mary Poppins attraction in the United Kingdom Pavilion, the Spaceship Earth overhaul, and other projects were not completed as they were originally part of the EPCOT transformation. These projects were potentially never completed due to the pandemic that hit about a half year after all these announcements were made. EPCOT Experience While the EPCOT Transformation is now complete, the status of what will happen to the Wonders of Life Pavilion is unknown. The Play! Pavilion was announced at D23 five years ago, and it is possible that an announcement about the future of this building will be made at this year’s D23. In case you missed it, we are LIVE at D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event. Free tote This event, which runs through the weekend, brings a ton of fun Disney experiences to fans, as well as panels, where we expect Disney to make some big announcements about upcoming movies, parks experiences, rides, and more. The doors have just officially opened for the event, but as soon as we were inside, we were already turned away from one line at one particular booth. As soon as we stepped onto the convention floor, we got a notification that the Ravensburger booth has already closed its Lorcana line. That’s how fast people jumped in line for Lorcana merchandise, y’all. So if you are attending D23 this weekend, you’ll want to make sure you make that your #1 priority if it’s on your list of things to do. ©Disney This isn’t a huge surprise as Disney Lorcana has become VERY popular, and the booth is hosting autograph signings, as well as demos of Disney Lorcana TCG, Chronicles of Light: Darkness Falls (Disney Edition), and Disney Villainous. There are also photo ops and free promos, as well as opportunities to buy special products. Most importantly, a special Disney Lorcana TCG exclusive, the D23 collection, is ONLY available at the booth. Disney Lorcana Shimmering Skies This is a MASSIVE event, so we expect to see this at many booths throughout these three days. A LOT of people will be visiting the Anaheim Convention Center — we’re talking tens of THOUSANDS of Disney fans. We’re really stoked about the Parks and Experiences panel, called Horizons, which you can stream on Fornite on August 10th — the virtual doors will open at 10:30PMET with the stream starting at 11:30PMET. It’s going to be EPIC, and we’ll be covering it all LIVE, so you’ll want to stay tuned to DFB for more. We’re LIVE from D23: The ULTIMATE Disney Fan Event Want to Learn More About Disneyland? EPCOT is a massive park holding massive amounts of super-amazing things. So what’s the problem here? EPCOT Monorail The problem is that MANY of those amazing things you’ve never even HEARD about — putting you AT RISK of missing them COMPLETELY during your next EPCOT vacation. Which is why WE’RE here to save the day! But let’s not dilly-dally — it’s time to JUMP RIGHT IN! 1. Walt’s Childhood Bedroom Whoa, what? Are we being transported to Marceline, Missouri now?? NOPE! But you can STILL see a blast from Walt’s past over at The Land Pavilion during your next visit! On the Living With the Land boat ride, you’ll pass a cozy scene with a cute white farmhouse. Living with the Land Upstairs in that farmhouse is a bedroom designed to look like the very one from Walt Disney’s childhood home. Upon further inspection, you’ll notice a lamp. Just like Walt’s Disneyland apartment, the lamp is always left on in this room in honor of his memory. It’s kinda hard to see all this detail from down below on the boat, but you can get a much better view of it when you dine at the Garden Grill restaurant, located on the second floor. Click Here to Read Our Latest Review of Garden Grill 2. Champagne Bar EPCOT takes their drinking around the world seriously. Very seriously. But only the ELITE know where to track down the HIDDEN Champagne Bar during their spirited adventures. Pop-up champagne bar Head into the France Pavilion to find Les Vins De France. Now, this bar isn’t to be confused with Les Vins des Chefs de France — our little green kiosk outside the pavilion that serves some of our favorite drinks like the Grey Goose Slush and the Grand Marnier Slush. (Though, um, you probably wanna pay that one a visit, too.) Champagne! Nope, Les Vins De France is COMPLETELY different — hidden away inside the gift shop that’s right across from L’Artisan des Glaces. Here, you can buy bottles of wine and champagne to take home, but you can also buy wine/champagne by the glass to sip and savor. But what makes this place EXTRA special and unique is their champagne flights! Champagne Extras There are currently two flights offered, each includes three different types of champagne with two-ounce pours. Have You Heard About the Hidden CHAMPAGNE BAR (!!) in EPCOT? 3. The Wonders of Xandar’s Hidden Turkey Leg In order to see THIS Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind secret, you’re gonna have to enter into the queue and LOOK UP at the exact right time. As the supercomputer strives to learn more about Terran (Earth) culture in the Galaxarium, it questions the fascination humans have with the turkey leg. Turkey Leg The computer asks, “Why only the leg? What about the rest of this creature?” Look, Supercomputer — I’m just as baffled as you are about these things. But regardless, DFB always loves a good classic snack reference… even if the snack is a super-controversial one. I Sold Turkey Legs in Disney World — Here Are 4 Things I Need You To Know 4. A Sneaky Buzz Lightyear Whoops! Sorry we haven’t told you about this SOONER! (But, to be fair, we’ve been completely missing this subtle detail for YEARS too). Inside the Journey Into Imagination with Figment queue, you can find a hidden Buzz Lightyear toy! It’s Buzz! Buzz is hiding out inside an open bird house-like structure near the floor — so if you’re not looking for him, he can be pretty hard to spot. The Awkward Reason I Will Never Ride Journey Into Imagination With Figment in Disney World Again 5. Hidden Bathrooms In A Magical Water Realm Yes, there is a hidden bathrooms inside Journey of Water: Inspired by Moana. You’ll find this potty stop about halfway through the attraction, just before you reach Te-Fiti. We love this bathroom There’ll be a sign for it, pointing you in the right direction, so don’t worry about missing it completely. The outside of the bathroom is… pretty unremarkable. But when you open that simple door, you’ll be transported into a single stall restroom that feels worthy of a seafarer like Moana. (Because Imagineers think of EVERYTHING.) You Have To Take a Secret Train To the BEST Bathrooms in Disney World 6. Twinkling Pavement World Celebration has received a major glow-up… LITERALLY. Recently, the World Celebration Gardens opened for guests, giving us a new place to relax, charge up our phones, get a picture with the Walt the Dreamer statue, and appreciate the greenery of the area. World Celebration Gardens But our absolute FAVORITE part about this new section doesn’t happen until the sun sets. After sundown, 300 LED lights embedded in the pavement around World Celebration Gardens — as well as the towering light poles — illuminate this new space and synchronize with Spaceship Earth’s Points of Light show (which happens continuously throughout the night, as well). Did You Even Go to Disney World If You Didn’t Take These 14 Pictures? 7. The Secret English Channel When you cross over from the France Pavilion to the UK Pavilion, you’ll walk across a picturesque bridge that you might not think has a significant purpose other than getting you from point A to point B… but you’d be wrong. Eiffel Tower as seen approaching EPCOT’s France Pavilion This bridge actually represents crossing the English Channel between the two countries in real life. So it’s actually a Geography lesson AND footpath, all in one. Makes you appreciate it a little bit more, now don’t it? We’d Be Shocked if You Knew All 25 of These Hidden Secrets in EPCOT! 8. A Show That Changes — By Day And Night There’s a double feature happening at the Palais du Cinema inside the France Pavilion! In the middle of the day, you can come to this theater to watch the Beauty and the Beast sing-a-long (which retells the “Tale as old as Time” from LeFou’s perspective, strangely enough). Beauty and the Beast Sing-Along and Impressions de France Theater But bookending the day (when the park first opens and when the park’s only a couple hours away from closing), you can watch Impressions de France here instead — which is basically an 18-minute travelogue of the country accompanied by a lovely soundtrack and soothing narration. Showtimes are subject to change, so when you visit, refer to the My Disney Experience App for updated times. We PREVIEWED the Upcoming Beauty and the Beast Sing-Along in Epcot! Here’s What to Expect! 9. The Most UNIQUE Souvenirs When all the Minnie Ears, spirit jerseys, and Munchlings across all the Disney gift shops are starting to give you a major sense of deja vu, start browsing the World Showcase for a palate cleanser. Because the knick-knacks you’re gonna find on THESE pavilion gift shop shelves are unique, exciting, and totally unexpected. The BEST store in the Japan pavilion You can buy… A replica samurai sword in the Mitsukoshi Department Store (Japan) Your personal family crest in the Crown and Crest shop (UK) Customizable perfume bottles in Plume et Palette (France) Venetian Carnival Masks in La Gemma Elegante (Italy) $2,000 cuckoo clocks in Das Kaufhaus (Germany) And — say it with me — SO MUCH MORE. Seriously, browsing the World Showcase shops is a big part of the EPCOT experience — even if you don’t wind up buying anything! So be sure to check them out! You HAVE To See Disney’s Custom Souvenirs Hiding in the U.K. Pavilion at EPCOT 10. Swimming With Dolphins There’s actually a way you can SWIM with the dolphins over at The Seas pavilion — but many folks don’t realize that’s even an option. EPCOT Seas Adventures—Dolphins in Depth is a two-hour guided tour that features a 30-minute interaction with dolphins in waist-deep water, backstage views, the opportunity to learn about Disney World’s dolphin care program, and research sessions with marine mammal specialists. Hi, Mickey! You don’t need a scuba certification to swim with dolphins, but you do need one if you decide to try EPCOT’s OTHER Seas pavilion tour, DiveQuest. This truly unique experience allows you to dive in EPCOT’s current-free 5.7-million-gallon saltwater aquarium, which is home to over 2,000 sea creatures, including—but not limited to—sea turtles, reef fish, stingrays, and sharks! Hi BBY This tour is pricier than the dolphin tour ($229–$249 per person, on top of your admission price), but — again — it’s a completely unique experience that you can totally add to your bucket list. Video: Watch Mickey Mouse SCUBA DIVE in Disney World 11. Canada’s Disappearing Act The Canada pavilion’s beautiful cascading waterfall is more than just a picture op! Canada Pavilion Waterfall These rushing waters not only represent the impressive waterfalls you’ll find in the country, but they also hide the appearance and noise of a huge generator situated directly behind them. Nicely done, Disney. Nicely done. 12. Norway’s Forgetful Troll When you step into The Fjording gift shop over in the Norway pavilion, it’s hard to miss the GIGANTIC rock troll greeting you at the front entrance. But this big guy is more than just a friendly (and slightly intimidating) face. He’s actually got a pretty interesting backstory! Forgetful Troll This troll is known as “the forgetful troll.” According to Imagineering lore, he comes to life at night but then turns back to stone when the sun comes up. Because of this, he’s very forgetful — so he doesn’t remember anything at all when he wakes up, including his name. What Happens When Frozen Ever After Is Evacuated Due to an Emergency in Disney World 13. Become Agent X It’s no secret that Spaceship Earth is a time capsule featuring technology that’s definitely seen better days, but that doesn’t mean the Project Tomorrow games — which you’ll find at the ride’s exit — aren’t still a fun way to pass the time! Project Tomorrow has several virtual reality experiences where you can do things like… Power a community with digital hockey pucks Assemble body parts with a robotic arm And embody AGENT X to SAVE a CITY from being destroyed Project Tomorrow Sure, the technology is dated, but these games usually don’t have MASSIVE amounts of people swarming around ready to play, making it a fun way to pass some time with the kiddos while steering clear of the crowds. What Is Going on With the Spaceship Earth Update in Disney World? 14. Advanced Training Lab And since we’re on the subject of dated technology games at the exits of space-themed rides, let’s talk about ANOTHER one! After you take a ride on Mission: SPACE, you can check out the Advanced Training Lab — an interactive area where you can do a few different galactic-themed activities like: Crawl around in the Space Base play area (for kiddos) Play the Expedition: Mars joystick video game Send a digital postcard to a friend back home Or compete against other space travelers in a high-energy rocket race! Mission: SPACE Again — this area isn’t gonna give you state-of-the-art technology to ogle over, BUT it should be a nice blast from the past and a fun way to kill time when you’re trying to hide away from a huge rainstorm, or maybe just attempting to cool down from the heat. 15. Secret Pathways EPCOT is a BIG PARK, so knowing how to get around it as efficiently as possible is a necessity at this point. For example… If you’re traveling between the Mexico Pavilion and World Discovery, there’s no need to walk all the way around by the main World Showcase entrance. Instead, you can cut through the Odyssey Pavilion. The Odyssey Pavilion is typically open during the festivals, but even if it’s not festival season, outdoor walkways run right past it, connecting the Test Track area to the Mexico area. Pathway Trying to get to World Nature from the World Showcase, but you don’t wanna take the long way ‘round? Take the Rose Garden Trail instead! When you see the Port Refreshments kiosk (right when you’re coming OUT of the Canada pavilion), take a left and cut past Journey Into Imagination with Figment to get over to the World Nature area. Not only is this path shorter, BUT you’ll also get to skip out on the main area of traffic that’ll be coming out of World Celebration. Another way to cut down on your steps during the day is to use EPCOT’s Friendship boat service! Many people don’t know that EPCOT runs a daily boat service across the lagoon from the Mexico Pavilion to the Germany Pavilion AND from the Canada Pavilion to the Morocco Pavilion. Boat time This shortcut is weather-permitting and has limited hours during the day, but if you don’t feel like walking all the way around to the other side of the park, it’s a great hack that doubles as an easy-going ride! Over 15 SECRET Walkways to Beat the Crowds in Disney World 16. Marrakesh Lounge We’re still mourning the loss of Restaurant Marrakesh over in the Morocco Pavilion (because it USED to be a really awesome Mediterranean-inspired table service that’s been “temporarily unavailable” ever since the pandemic closures) Restaurant Marrakesh The former dining spot has been utilized as a special lounge and is a solid spot to rest and relax during your World Showcase journey. A few years ago it was the Florida Blue Lounge and more recently it was opened up to Disney World Annual Passholders. Our free Passholder button! There’s lots of seating in the AC here, as well as multiple complimentary drinks (like cold brew, tea, juice, and sparkling beverages), AND free henna sessions (typically from noon to 5PM). FULL TOUR of the NEW Annual Passholder Lounge in EPCOT 17. Secret Lounges: Part Two Hmm… how many more hidden lounges can we find hiding out around EPCOT? Let’s see…. If you’re a DVC member, there’s a DVC-exclusive lounge hiding out in the Imagination! Pavilion. This lounge is on the second floor of the ImageWorks merchandise location (the one you go through after riding Journey Into Imagination With Figment). At this lounge, you’ll find comfy seats, complimentary sodas, Wi-Fi, charging stations, a printer, and — oh yeah — some much-needed peace and quiet. DVC Lounge in EPCOT There’s ALSO an exclusive lounge hanging out over in Test Track too. But the only people who get to use this lounge… are General Motors employees and retirees! The entrance of the lounge is located to the right of the Test Track entrance, hidden behind a piece of blue wall. If you weren’t specifically looking for it, you’d miss it entirely — it just looks like a regular ol’ door upon first glance. To the lounge! Once you go through the door, you’ll walk to the end of the hallway and press the buzzer near the elevator. Then, a Cast Member will check your GM employee ID — which you MUST have in order to enter. Friends and family are also allowed to tag along with the GM employee to hang out, relax, and grab a free soda. The door behind the blue wall! But the best part about this place? When you tell the Cast Member at the lounge that you’re getting ready to head out, they’ll give up to FIVE free Test Track Lightning Lanes for your group to use that day! Hooray, employee perks! What Will Disney World Change at Test Track? Here Are the 5 Biggest Theories 18. A Whole Car Dealership Is car shopping is really gonna be on your mind when you’re already spending THOUSANDS on an epic Disney vacation, but if it IS… EPCOT’s ready to sell ya one. After you speed along the Test Track roads at EPCOT, you’ll exit through a showroom with some rather impressive-looking Chevrolet vehicles. Chevy vehicle A couple of Chevrolet experts will be hanging around the area, just in case you have any questions about what you see featured in the showroom that day. They’ll be happy to answer whatever — and point you in the direction of where you can purchase one of these sweet rides after your Disney World trip wraps up. Disney Fans Have SURPRISING Expectations for the Test Track Re-theme in EPCOT: Are They Right? 19. Getting Into Space 220 With NO Reservations Ever since Space 220 opened in 2021, it’s been one of the HARDEST Advance Dining Reservations to snag, not just in EPCOT but in Disney World PERIOD. Even the Space 220 Lounge now requires you to make ADRs due to its popularity, which ALSO book up pretty quickly after they first go live (60 days before your visit). Space 220 in EPCOT That said, it IS possible to get into Space 220 without a dining room or lounge reservation and still experience this immersive restaurant. How? By checking on the walk-up bar availability that day. Space 220 Dining Room The Space 220 Bar does not take ADRs or have a virtual waitlist that you can join. Instead, you’ll have to go to the restaurant’s host stand after the restaurant opens at 11:30AM and add your name to the physical walk-up waitlist. Keep in mind that bar seating is first come, first served — which is why we recommend checking on the status of things RIGHT when the Space 220 bar opens instead of swinging by later on when the waitlist might already be booked up for the rest of the day. Drink up! Ready for the catch? Bar seating is NOT available for guests who are under 21 years old. So if you’ve got younger members in your party, you’ll wanna stick with getting up early in the morning before those dining room/ lounge reservations go live to snag your seats. Space 220 Lounge vs. Space 220 Restaurant 20. Charging Tables Many of Disney’s recent expansion projects have included places with more USB/charging ports to help you charge your phone during the day. Unfortunately, many of those charging locations only work if you’ve remembered to bring a charging cable. Connections Cafe & Eatery Thankfully, EPCOT has a solution for people like me who forget their cords or battery packs. The Connections Eatery quick service has several tables with wireless charging capabilities! Just look for the long oval tables that seat 8 or more people. They’re typically overlooked by guests because they do feel like “community” seating — but don’t you go and shy away from them, too! Wireless charging So, if you’re running out of battery life, this can be a good temporary solution while you’re eating your lunch or dinner. Just be aware that these charging stations are relatively slow at getting your phone all juiced up — so don’t come here thinking that this wireless table will get your phone back up to 100% again after just 20-30 minutes of chowing down. Outlets NOTE: If you don’t want to eat at Connections Eatery just to use one of their charging tables, you can always visit the new World Celebration Gardens area to juice up your phone instead. While you won’t find any wireless charging tables in these gardens, you can use one of the several outdoor outlets available here without spending an extra dime. Just… remember to bring your charging cord! Every EPCOT Restaurant, Ranked! 21. Why It’s Called “Rose And Crown” This is a silly secret, but we’ll share it with you anyway. Because that’s what friends do — they share silly secrets. If you ever find yourself wondering how the Rose and Crown Pub in the UK pavilion got its name, the story… ain’t all that intricate to unravel. Rose & Crown The name is based on a survey of the British Isles — which found that the most common words used in pub names across the region were “rose” and “crown.” SO Disney just mashed those together, and EUREKA, The Rose, and Crown Pub, were born. YUM! Remember — you can still grab a drink from the pub here without making reservations for the main restaurant. Just belly up to the bar and pick your spirit to take with you! REVIEW: Does EPCOT’s Rose and Crown Restaurant Still Deserve Your $$$? 22. Must Try International Beverages That Can Be Made TWO Ways SPEAKING of drinks, let’s take a SPEEDY Drinking Around the World tour to try a few of the BEST international beverages that can be made alcoholic OR non-alcoholic! That way, EVERYONE can play along! In Morocco, you can pick up the virgin frozen mint tea at Oasis Sips and Sweets — or you can spike it with gin. In China, we LOVE the Tipsy Ducks in Love at the Joy of Tea kiosk for its name AND its combination of Bourbon, Black Tea, Coffee, Cream, and Chocolate. You can also order it without the bourbon if you wish. Tipsy Ducks in Love In Norway, the Kristoff Kaffe at Kringla Bakeri Og Cafe is the non-alcoholic version of the Viking Coffee, made with Frozen Coffee, Coffee-Chocolate Sauce, and garnished with Coffee-Chocolate Crunch. Drinking Around the World in EPCOT Just Got WAY Better With This Amazon Souvenir! 23. Merch Mobile Checkout Two of the most POPULAR gift shops in EPCOT give you the opportunity to check out items WITHOUT having to stand in line for them. Over at the flagship Creations Shop and Treasures of Xandar gift shop (outside of Cosmic Rewind), you can purchase any souvenirs you find through your My Disney Experience App. Mobile Checkout To find the merchandise mobile check-out option, open your MDE app and tap on the + sign at the bottom/center of the screen. Then, select “Merchandise Mobile Checkout” from the provided options — and follow the prompts from there! Just make sure you show your QR code receipt to a cast member at the front of the store before heading out. FULL LIST of Stores Where You Can SKIP the Checkout Lines in the Disney Parks 24. Two Places To Find British Phone Booths Why, of COURSE you can find red British phone booths over in the UK pavilion! That seems like a given, right? But there’s also another red phone booth hiding out in the upper level of the Canada pavilion, and you can get a photo op with it, too! Phone Booths So if the UK pavilion phone booths are being bombarded with guests taking pictures, head into Canada for a much quieter, less hectic photo op. You’ll find the Canada Phone Booth right at the top of the stairs, to your left. Who Actually Owns the World Showcase Pavilions in EPCOT? 25. Leave A Legacy One of the new(ish) things that often get overlooked here are the Leave a Legacy monoliths, which are actually before you even enter the park! Back in the day, guests used to be able to buy a spot on these monoliths to get their photos etched into one of the panels. As part of the EPCOT Transformation though, EPCOT’s entrance was redesigned and the old Leave A Legacy monoliths were removed. Leave a Legacy Walls in EPCOT If you’re looking for your picture — or someone else’s picture — amongst all these new Leave A Legacy tiles, you can use your phone or another smart device to scan the monoliths’ QR code. This will load up a tile finder search feature to help you track down the coordinates to a specific tile location. Leave a Legacy But here’s the REALLY cool part about this: There are CELEBRITY panels on the Leave a Legacy monoliths, too! You can find members of *NSYNC (ie: a popular 90s boy band, for all you youngins out there), as well as Ariana Grande’s family! So try using the photo search feature to track these musical artists down during your next EPCOT trip. PHOTOS: First Look at the NEW Leave A Legacy Display in EPCOT! 26. Drink Flights We already talked about champagne flights over in the France Pavilion, but Les Vins De France isn’t the ONLY place you can try multiple drink samples for one price. Here are a few other locations where you can pick up drink flights in EPCOT, too: You can get an Imperial Sampler at Rose and Crown Pub in the UK Pavilion. At Tutto Gusto Wine Cellar in the Italy Pavilion, you can order wine flights. The Germany pavilion has a couple of different flight options — like wine flights in The Weinkeller and a four-pour German beer flight at the Biergarten table service restaurant (requires reservations) And if you’re visiting during an EPCOT festival, you can find lots of drink flights across several of the outdoor food booths! Beer Flight OH — and for a non-boozy and totally FREE drink flight experience, factor in some time to visit Club Cool during your day to try a variety of international sodas. Is the Colorful Sake Cocktail Flight Worth $25 in EPCOT? We Found Out! 27. ANOTHER Hidden Drink Stop EPCOT’s NOT gonna let you go thirsty, that’s for sure. Spice Road Table Bar While Spice Road Table — over in the Morocco Pavilion — is, indeed, a table service location, there’s also an area tucked away JUST inside the restaurant’s entrance where you can grab a Spice Road drink to-go from the bar… no reservations necessary! Click Here to Read Our Latest Review at Spice Road Table 28. Tiny Train Town Drama Right outside the Germany Pavilion, there’s the most adorable German train town EVER that appeals to my love and devotion for all things miniaturized. But things can get a little kooky in this otherwise charming town. The Germany Pavilion train village has its own Food and Wine Festival! Without saying a thing, the tiny citizens of this village tell a story — and we like to fill in the blanks ourselves. This little train village has LOTS of secrets and stories just WAITING for you to unravel. But while you’re creating said narratives in your head, don’t forget to appreciate the little details of this town, too — like the changing flags and decor that represent the latest EPCOT festivals taking place! Dastardly Deeds Are Happening in EPCOT’s Tiny Train Town 29. Kidcot Fun Stops There’s this “stigma” that EPCOT can’t quite shake. Lots of people refer to it as the more adult-centered theme park of the Disney bubble — especially when it comes to World Showcase. KidCot Though over the years more recognizable IP characters have been incorporated into several different pavilions to appeal to children and adults alike, the World Showcase is still mostly shopping, tasting unique foods, and (for some) Drinking Around the World. Which can get a little dull for some kiddos preeeeetty fast. I traveled the World Showcase! To keep kids engaged with the World Showcase’s offerings, make sure to track down the different Kidcot Fun Stop stations located in each of the 11 pavilions. At these locations, kids can pick up a take-out activity baggies containing fun facts and coloring cards. And the best part about Kidcot? It’s totally free! Did You Know About EPCOT’s SECRET Trivia Game? You Can Win a Prize! 30. Rare EPCOT Fireworks If you wanna ring in the new year at EPCOT, you can only catch EPCOT’s RARE New Year’s Eve fireworks display on December 31st, unlike the New Year’s Eve fireworks in Magic Kingdom, which run on December 30th as well. Just like Luminous, the fireworks are shot off over at World Showcase Lagoon, but not before a big countdown to the New Year takes place! So pretty! And don’t be so dazzled by the fireworks display that you miss out on the other exclusive New Year’s offerings around the pavilions leading up to the main event! While entertainment can vary, last year, we saw… A silent disco in the UK pavilion Live entertainment in the Italy pavilion Chinese lion dancers in the China Pavilion And SO MUCH MORE! Yes, New Year’s Eve at EPCOT is an ULTRA BUSY time for the park — but if you’re looking for a night of limited-time entertainment and high-energy celebrations, this is the place to be when the countdown begins! Watch the RARE EPCOT Fireworks Show You Can Only See ONCE A YEAR! 31. Exclusive Character Photo Spot Alright, Disney Visa Cardholders — this exclusive EPCOT perk is for YOU! You can find a Disney Visa-exclusive character meet-and-greet spot near the Journey into Imagination pavilion on the left-hand side, right past the Disney and Pixar Short Film Festival. A Special Disney Visa Credit Card Photo Op You will need your Disney Visa card to enter, but once you show your card to the cast member up front, you’ll be led to a private meet-and-greet location where characters like Mickey, Minnie, Pluto, and Goofy are ready to say hello and take pictures! Minnie and Pluto! And guess what else? All the photos you take here are FREE TO DOWNLOAD. Keep in mind that the hours for this photo spot can be quite limited—typically ranging from 1PM to 6:30PM daily—so don’t miss out on your window of opportunity. This Could Be One of The BEST Deals Your Disney Visa Can Get You 32. Super Authentic Pizza Via Napoli, in the Italy Pavilion, is one of the best places to order the za on Disney property. And that’s because this pizza place doesn’t cut corners… only slices! According to the Disney World website, the water used to make the pizza dough is even sourced from a spring similar to Italy’s Campania region to ensure that the pizza here is as authentically Italian as possible. The dough is directly imported from Italy. PIZZA Not only that, but when your pizza is ready to be cooked, it’ll be placed in one of three wood-burning ovens—each named after one of Italy’s three active volcanoes: Mount Etna, Mount Vesuvius, and Stromboli. Click HERE to Read Our Latest Review at Via Napoli 33. Secret Stroll Gardens The Katsura Grill quick service, over in the Japan Pavilion, may not be your number one choice when it comes to EPCOT restaurants — but whether you decide to dine here or not, you’re gonna want to stroll around its outdoor patio. The patio overlooks a serene stroll garden with a soothing waterfall, hanging paper lanterns, and an intricate rock display. Secret Gardens And if you continue strolling across the little bridge here, you’ll wind up by the koi pond, which is equally as peaceful and lovely as the rest of the area. Oh, and just in case you’re wondering, you’ll also find a quiet bathroom pretty close to this area, too. Leave it to DFB to come IN CLUTCH when it comes to the IMPORTANT stuff. Click HERE to Read Our Latest Review of Katsura Grill 34. Skip The Cosmic Rewind Virtual Queue WITHOUT A Lightning Lane Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind is a new-ish roller coaster in EPCOT that opened back in May 2022. Since then, it’s quickly become the MOST popular (and most coveted) ride in the entire park. Normally, you can only ride this coaster by joining the virtual queue on your MDE app (at either 7AM or 1PM) OR by purchasing an Individual Lightning Lane for it. Otherwise, there’s no regular standby queue available. Cosmic Rewind uses a Virtual Queue Except… that’s not exactly true. Because a standby queue DOES actually open up for this ride on rare occasions. And by “rare occasions,” I mean during EPCOT’s After Hours events! This year, EPCOT has After Hours events on select nights from February through July. EPCOT After Hours are BACK for 2024! One of the best parts about these events is that capacity is super limited, meaning the wait times for the rides are gonna be low (or even non-existent) — which is why Cosmic Rewind is able to switch over to a standby wait during this time. FULL LIST of What’s Included in EPCOT After Hours Events 35. Pickle Ornament Let’s take a minute to appreciate the Pickle Ornaments over at Germany’s Die Weihnachts Ecke gift shop. This little Christmas shop stays open all year round to give you a hearty dose of International holiday cheer no matter when you decide to visit. And while you’ll be able to find LOTS of different ornaments decorating the trees inside this shop, the most prominent ornament of them all isn’t candy cane shaped or gingerbread shaped, but rather PICKLE shaped. Pickle Ornament So what’s the dealio with all the pickles? According to German tradition, this is the LAST ornament that gets placed on the tree once the kids go to bed. In the morning, after St. Nick drops off all his presents for the good little children of the world, the first kiddo to find the pickle ornament in the tree will receive an extra gift from the jolly ol’ elf himself! Pickle Ornament Story And you, TOO, can make this a tradition in YOUR household starting next Christmas by purchasing one of these quirky/shiny pickle dudes during your EPCOT day. 50 Things Everyone Should Eat in Disney World 36. Broken Up Park Hours While EPCOT typically opens at 9 a.m., the entire park doesn’t open at that time. Actually, most of the World Showcase doesn’t actually open until 11 a.m. EPCOT The only parts of the World Showcase that DO open at 9 or earlier, if you’re using Early Theme Park Entry, are the pavilion rides (ie: Frozen Ever After, Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure, and Gran Fiesta Tour) as well as a few restaurants with breakfast offerings, like Kringla Bakeri Og Kafe and Les Halles Boulangerie Patisserie. Other than that? You’re gonna have to wait for the other World Showcase rides, restaurants, and festival booths to open up later on. 37. Dining Packages There are TWO types of EPCOT dining packages available for you to book before your visit. The first is the Fireworks Dining Package — which offers you a meal at a participating EPCOT restaurant along with a great view of the Luminous nighttime spectacular! Table setting And the second is the festival dining packages. Again, you’ll receive a meal at a participating EPCOT restaurant — but along with that meal, you’ll also get guaranteed priority seating for an evening festival show over at the American Gardens theater on the same date. La Hacienda de San Angel Shows vary depending on what festival is taking place and who’s on the schedule to perform that day — but you can always check on those updated performance schedules via the Disney World website. Prices vary depending on the packages you book and the restaurants you choose, so make sure to do your research before you decide to splurge on one of these VIP treatments. 2 Huge CHANGES Made to Dining Packages in EPCOT 38. SO MANY Character Sightings You never know WHO you might find wandering about the World Showcase during your visit! But we can at least guarantee you this: You will have ample opportunity to see a wide range of fan-favorite Disney characters—either by waving at them from a distance or by giving ‘em a big ol’ bear hug up close! Princess Aurora So, WHO might you possibly see out and about during your EPCOT day? In the past, we’ve seen characters like: Pluto near the Creations Shop Moana near Journey of Water Donald Duck outside the Mexico Pavilion Mulan in China Snow White in Germany Belle and Princess Aurora in France Mary Poppins and Alice in the UK Minnie, or visiting character, in the Gazebo near World Showcase Plaza And SEVERAL OTHER friends that tend to pop up on a whim, just to give us an extra dose of Disney magic! He is always listening! And now that CommuniCore Hall is open, there is a BRAND NEW Mickey & Friends Meet-and-Greet location for us to meet him at instead! Many of the character meet-and-greet timeframes and locations will be listed directly on the MDE app, but some won’t. So keep your eyes peeled for character sightings and have those autograph books out and ready to use! We Finally Got Inside EPCOT’s NEW CommuniCore Hall: Here’s a FULL TOUR! 39. Hangover Lozenges? We’re not saying you need to conduct an experiment to see if these things work or not, but we spotted these at the Tea Caddy gift shop over in the UK Pavilion during a recent visit. There was a section in this shop displaying little circular tins filled with HANGOVER lozenges straight from Yorkshire, England. Time for Tea According to the front of the container, these drops are made with “all natural glucose blended with fruits.. and ginseng extract for a truly welcoming pick-me-up,” …. Whatever that means. It seems that the UK pavilion is well aware of those drinking around the world intentions that some folks have while visiting this park. Lots of tea And while you may wanna purchase them JUST in case any of the alcohol you try doesn’t sit well with you the next morning, please still remember to drink plenty of water and pace yourself when trying these different international spirits. Because something tells me that even if these lozenges do help, they ain’t gonna be a cure-all. Fun Find: More Collectible Teapots at The Tea Caddy in Epcot’s UK Pavilion 40. Restaurants With Dress Codes And Age Policies EPCOT may be a park for ALL ages, but there are sections of the park where that’s not entirely true. Monsieur Paul in the France Pavilion and Takumi Tei in the Japan Pavilion are both signature restaurants with high-end cuisine and rather steep price points. They’re also both pretty fancy-schmancy, meaning younger kiddos aren’t gonna be allowed to dine here. At Monsieur Paul, you must be at least 10 years old to dine. Restaurant entrance At Takumi Tei, you must be at least 8 years old. Restaurant guests are also expected to wear something that, as stated on the Disney website, “adheres to the restaurant’s sophisticated and upscale aesthetic.” Takumi-Tei No, you don’t have to go out and purchase a dazzling cocktail dress or three-piece suit or anything. But these restaurants do ask you to wear something on the more sophisticated side of things (meaning your outfit should be clean, neat, and in good condition). Nothing too outrageous, but enough to respect the signature dining culture. Click HERE to Read Our Latest Review at Takumi Tei 41. Germany’s Hidden Poison Apple The setting of Disney’s original animated film, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, is inspired by several areas around Germany. This is why you’ll possibly see Snow White hanging out by the wishing well near the German pavilion at select times throughout the day. Hey, Snow! But Snow White isn’t the ONLY character from her movie hanging out around these parts. High above the merchandise inside the Volkskunst Clocks and Crafts shop, you can find Snow White’s arch nemesis… that dastardly poison apple. Germany pavilion! Need help tracking it down? Just look for the wall of merch displaying all the Snow White stuff. There, you’ll see it, looking down on all the guests, wondering who’ll become its next victim. Just kidding. It ain’t going anywhere. It’s under a pretty sturdy looking glass dome — so you’re totally safe to walk over and take pictures! 42. The “What If” Labs And here we are, yet again, exploring ANOTHER slightly-dated interactive experience at the exit of a classic EPCOT attraction. ImageWorks — the What If Labs is a place where you can continue “exploring your senses” after your Journey Into Imagination With Figment ride-through concludes. Figment You can… Become a music conductor for a band of virtuoso purple dragons Jump across a symphony of stepping stones Or even create your own little Figment to email to a friend back home who’s missing out on all the fun. But the main reason people visit ImageWorks — even if they HAVEN’T gone on the ride just yet — is to meet and greet with popular Disney characters like Figment of Imagination HIMSELF! Come With Us To Meet FIGMENT in EPCOT! 43. Flight 5505 When we’re getting on Soarin’ Around the World (or its predecessor, Soarin’ Over California), we’re usually focused on our favorite parts of the ride: the smells, the sights, our beloved Patrick Warburton pre-show… Soarin’: Now Taking Flight What we might not think too terribly much about is the flight number of our supposed vehicle. But we should think about it. Because it’s cool, too. The flight number, Flight 5505, represents the attraction’s original Disney World opening date — May 5th, 2005. An important day, indeed! 44. Home Grown Food That greenhouse you’re floating past while riding on Living with the Land ain’t just for looks! This is a FULLY FUNCTIONAL greenhouse that doesn’t let its produce go to waste! Each year, the Land Pavilion grows nearly 30 tons of fruit and vegetables that are served at restaurants like Sunshine Seasons and Garden Grill (as well as select festival booths, too)! Living with the Land If you want a closer look at how EPCOT’s cast members maintain these greenhouses, consider booking a Behind the Seeds Tour for a one-of-a-kind backstage experience. Tour prices range around $39-$45 per person (on top of theme park admission) and can be booked online OR right outside the Living with the Land ride on the day of your visit (subject to availability). PHOTO: See How Living With the Land CHANGED in EPCOT for Disney’s 100th Anniversary 45. Weddings! Okay, now THIS is seriously exciting news! The World Celebration Gardens was officially added as a Disney wedding venue at the beginning of this year. Y’all – can you imagine how STUNNING that’d be?? I mean, you’ve got the lush greenery, the synchronized lights, the glorious Spaceship Earth (who might threaten to outshine the bride – but I guess a little friendly competition never hurt anyone, right?) EPCOT Flower & Garden Festival This venue is available to book for weddings in January 2025 and later – but you can learn more about it (as well as other Disney venues) over on the Disney Weddings website. This Might Convince You To Plan a Disney Wedding! 46. Ducktales World Showcase Adventure If you don’t download the Play Disney Parks app for any other reason, do so only to play Ducktales World Showcase Adventure in EPCOT. This is a free scavenger hunt-like game for both “the young and young-at-heart” to play around World Showcase. This game is LEGITIMATELY interactive and throws you into each Ducktales mission head-on. ©Disney You might have to… Trigger a duck robot in the middle of the Mitsukoshi Department Store Drop off a rather important golf ball at a non-disclosed UK spot Team up with a creative China pavilion cricket Save the poor German Tiny Town citizens (who’ve now got themselves wrapped up in even MORE drama than before) Expose the hidden sword behind Norway’s waterfall… Okay, I’m getting too excited now. I don’t wanna give EVERYTHING away. I just wanna prove to you that the Ducktales World Showcase Adventure game is a great, immersive way to explore the pavilions with your family without having to wait in lines to do so. The New Game in EPCOT You Might Like MORE Than the Rides 47. A Tour Of Shanghai Disney Shanghai Disneyland is, like, a bucket list park for most of us. But in the meantime, we love that EPCOT’s China Pavilion gives us a little sneak peek into what you can find inside this international park. “Inside Shanghai Disney Resort” is a self-guided tour held within the House of the Whispering Willows Gallery. A tour of Shanghai Here, you’ll be able to see exhibits that showcase Shanghai Disney’s different sections through its props, artwork, models, and more. Not to mention, this gallery is a SUPER quiet place to take a breather (and AC break) if you need one. We Found 11 Hidden SECRETS in EPCOT’s Newest Attraction! 48. The REAL Two Brothers Of The American Adventure Pavilion Y’all are SLEEPING on how impressive the American Adventure show is at EPCOT. I mean, how can your jaw NOT drop to the floor when you watch the animatronic Ben Franklin walk up those stairs! Imagineers are so good they SCARE me sometimes. During the show, a little video tells the story of “two brothers” who fought on different sides of the battlefield during the Civil War. The story is nothing short of tragic, but the little Easter Egg hidden here is less so. American Adventure The two brothers depicted in this film are actually inspired by two former Disney Imagineers. The first is production designer John Olson. The second is Jeff Burke, who was largely responsible for creating Frontierland in Magic Kingdom. 49. Underground Tunnel Magic Kingdom isn’t the ONLY Disney park with tunnels and activities just below the surface. EPCOT has tunnels, too! EPCOT There is actually just one tunnel. But it’s a really long, 700-foot tunnel located partially under Spaceship Earth. This tunnel is mainly used to quickly transport deliveries to their final EPCOT destinations without having to carry them throughout the entire park. 50. Unique Pre-Packaged Snacks We won’t typically encourage you to purchase pre-packaged snacks, especially when there are so many other freshly made snacks you can try around Disney property. But EPCOT is going to be one of my few exceptions here. Yummy snacks! The gift shops across the different pavilions don’t solely have cool merch that you can buy… They also have interesting international snacks on their shelves too! We’ve seen everything from Gunpowder Irish Gin chocolate in the UK to little dried crabs in Japan, floral-flavored chips in China, and marzipan snacks in Norway… Which One Would You Pick?! The list goes on! And the best part about purchasing these unique packaged snacks? You can always save them for later instead of having to eat them right away! Ranking the BEST Magic Kingdom Snacks Under $10 Would you believe us if we told you we actually had to CUT DOWN this list in order to keep it just at 50? It’s TRUE! Did you hear the news? A potential Avatar experience is coming to Disneyland! Pandora When the news was first revealed, Disney CEO Bob Iger shared, “We have one Avatar-based land, Pandora, in Florida. We’re going to put a second one in California.” A land similar to what was created in Disney’s Animal Kingdom park in Disney World could make its way to Disneyland, but we don’t have a whole lot of details. Could this Avatar Experience at D23 be a CLUE?! #af-form-501507268 .af-body{font-family:Helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:16px;color:inherit;background-image:none;background-position:inherit;background-repeat:no-repeat;padding-top:15px;padding-bottom:15px;} #af-form-501507268 {border-style:none;border-width:1px;border-color:#454545;background-color:#FFFFFF;} #af-form-501507268 .af-standards .af-element{padding-left:60px;padding-right:60px;} #af-form-501507268 .af-quirksMode{padding-left:60px;padding-right:60px;} #af-form-501507268 .af-header{font-family:Helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:18px;color:inherit;border-top-style:none;border-right-style:none;border-bottom-style:none;border-left-style:none;border-width:1px;border-color:#FFFFFF;background-image:none;background-position:inherit;background-repeat:no-repeat;background-color:#CFCB4B;padding-left:10px;padding-right:10px;padding-top:9px;padding-bottom:9px;} #af-form-501507268 .af-footer{font-family:Helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:12px;color:inherit;border-top-style:none;border-right-style:none;border-bottom-style:none;border-left-style:none;border-width:1px;background-image:none;background-position:top left;background-repeat:no-repeat;background-color:#FFFFFF;padding-left:16px;padding-right:16px;padding-top:0px;padding-bottom:0px;} #af-form-501507268 .af-body input.text, #af-form-501507268 .af-body textarea{border-color:#454545;border-width:1px;border-style:solid;font-family:Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;font-size:24px;font-weight:normal;font-style:normal;text-decoration:none;color:#454545;background-color:#FFFFFF;} #af-form-501507268 .af-body input.text:focus, #af-form-501507268 .af-body textarea:focus{border-style:solid;border-width:1px;border-color:#454545;background-color:#FFFFFF;} #af-form-501507268 .af-body label.previewLabel{font-family:Helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:18px;font-weight:normal;font-style:normal;text-decoration:none;color:#454545;display:block;float:none;text-align:left;width:auto;} #af-form-501507268 .af-body .af-textWrap{width:98%;display:block;float:none;} #af-form-501507268 .buttonContainer input.submit{font-family:Helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:18px;font-weight:normal;font-style:normal;text-decoration:none;color:#FFFFFF;background-color:#1CA7BF;background-image:none;} #af-form-501507268 .buttonContainer{text-align:right;} #af-form-501507268 .af-body label.choice{font-family:inherit;font-size:inherit;font-weight:normal;font-style:normal;text-decoration:none;color:#454545;} #af-form-501507268 .af-body a{font-weight:normal;font-style:normal;text-decoration:none;color:#454545;} #af-form-501507268, #af-form-501507268 .quirksMode{width:100%;max-width:418.0px;} #af-form-501507268.af-quirksMode{overflow-x:hidden;} #af-form-501507268 .af-quirksMode .bodyText{padding-top:2px;padding-bottom:2px;} #af-form-501507268{overflow:hidden;} #af-form-501507268 button,#af-form-501507268 input,#af-form-501507268 submit,#af-form-501507268 textarea,#af-form-501507268 select,#af-form-501507268 label,#af-form-501507268 optgroup,#af-form-501507268 option {float:none;margin:0;position:static;} #af-form-501507268 select,#af-form-501507268 label,#af-form-501507268 optgroup,#af-form-501507268 option {padding:0;} #af-form-501507268 input,#af-form-501507268 button,#af-form-501507268 textarea,#af-form-501507268 select {font-size:100%;} #af-form-501507268 .buttonContainer input.submit {width:auto;} #af-form-501507268 form,#af-form-501507268 textarea,.af-form-wrapper,.af-form-close-button,#af-form-501507268 img {float:none;color:inherit;margin:0;padding:0;position:static;background-color:none;border:none;} #af-form-501507268 div {margin:0;} #af-form-501507268 {display:block;} #af-form-501507268 body,#af-form-501507268 dl,#af-form-501507268 dt,#af-form-501507268 dd,#af-form-501507268 h1,#af-form-501507268 h2,#af-form-501507268 h3,#af-form-501507268 h4,#af-form-501507268 h5,#af-form-501507268 h6,#af-form-501507268 pre,#af-form-501507268 code,#af-form-501507268 fieldset,#af-form-501507268 legend,#af-form-501507268 blockquote,#af-form-501507268 th,#af-form-501507268 td { float:none;color:inherit;margin:0;padding:0;position:static;} #af-form-501507268 p { color:inherit;} #af-form-501507268 ul,#af-form-501507268 ol {list-style-image:none;list-style-position:outside;list-style-type:disc;padding-left:40px;} #af-form-501507268 .bodyText p {margin:1em 0;} #af-form-501507268 table {border-collapse:collapse;border-spacing:0;} #af-form-501507268 fieldset {border:0;} .af-clear{clear:both;} .af-form{box-sizing:border-box; Are you going to be staying at a Disney World hotel soon? Resort lobby at Coronado Springs’ Gran Destino Tower We love staying at the hotels on the Disney World property. There’s nothing like the immersion and the perks you get from being so close to areas like the parks, the other resort hotels, and Disney Springs! Talking about the hotels, there’s this trend we’ve been noticing about the hotel lobbies specifically and we wanted to pick your brains to find out how you felt about them! Well, we asked and you delivered! We reached out to our followers on Facebook to ask: “Do you think Disney World hotel lobbies have become smaller and LESS grand?” We had quite a few people leave their opinions in the comments! What do you think? Now, let’s dive into some of your top responses! The “Yes and I don’t like it” Camp First up, we’ve got a solid group of you who think that Disney World’s hotel lobbies are 100% getting smaller and less grand. To this point, DFB reader Patrick, started off the conversation by sharing, “It’s not what I think, it’s what is. All the newer Disney property are low on theming with small lobbies and minimal decor. They don’t differ much from corporate chain hotels.” And he’s not alone. Jonathan chimed with, “I feel like there’s a trend of them becoming more corporate and less themed and that is a terrible thing.” Riviera Resort Lobby Then we’ve got Sally, who added, “If you look at the Riviera, I would have to say yes.” Last up, we’ve got Jodi who mentioned, “Yes but it seems to be what younger people prefer. My favorite is Contemporary but my kids prefer Riviera. Things change, I can roll with it.” The “No, They’re Just Right” Crew Next up, there’s a sizeable group of you who think Disney World is doing just fine when it comes to their hotel lobbies. First up, DFB reader Sheryl shared, “Animal Kingdom Lodge has an amazing lobby.” Shawn added, “I think they still have that charm. The Riviera has a nice little lobby that matches the resorts vibe.” Then Tamara shared, “Not really. They seem to have all the amenities that are needed. Very easy to get around to different areas that you need to. I don’t think they have changed in years only seasonal decorations.” Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge We have Jeanine wrapping this one up with, “They are fine in size. They need space. I see people and sometimes a lot of people depending on the time of year and the weather sitting a spending time in the lobbies of the deluxe resorts and at times in the smaller lobbies at the moderate. Animal kingdom and wilderness lodge have beautiful lobbies to read, relax or just enjoy a fireplace.” The “Maybe/Don’t Care” Squad Lastly, we have the group of you square in the middle when talking about the Disney World hotel lobbies. For example, we had DFB reader Amy share, “Possibly, but i don’t spend very much time there. Would rather they expand other areas of the resorts than have a grand lobby that I spend maybe 30 min of my trip in.” Then Geoff added, “I don’t really care about the “GRANDNESS” of the hotel lobby. Get me checked in OR get me to the elevator (to my room) quicker… before me feet give out; after a long day hitting the parks!” Caribbean Beach Resort Lobby Juli continued the conversation with, “Fort Wilderness is technically not considered as a hotel. As long as the drive thru check in is kept and Disney doesn’t get the idea of closing Fort Wilderness to build another hotel, I don’t care what lobby looks. I’m happy with what Fort Wilderness currently offers. ” And Jamie brought us home with what might possibly be the best response of all, “I don’t care how GRAND they are as long as they keep that amazing smell! ” Well said, Jamie. Well said. Grand Floridian Lobby Those were just some of your thoughts on whether Disney World hotel lobbies have become smaller and less grand, and we want to hear more from you! This year’s show floor for D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event is the largest in the event’s history — so you know Walt Disney Imagineering had to go big with a pavilion unlike anything before. “Imagineering: Behind the Dreams” is a one-of-a-kind pavilion where guests can get a closer look at how we collaborate to create immersive experiences guests enjoy every day around the world. It also continues our trend of pulling back the curtain, which we started with our YouTube series “We Call It Imagineering.” Imagineers took a new approach to designing the space, making it Imagineering-centric to give guests the full Imagineering experience when they step inside. The pavilion showcases the creative process like never before with the venue divided into four quadrants: Invent, Build, Entertain and Design. Additionally, guests visiting on Sunday can get an up-close look at future projects revealed during the Disney Experiences Showcase Saturday night hosted by Disney Experiences Chairman Josh D’Amaro. Let’s take a look at just a few of the models, interactive demos, and exciting surprises in the “Imagineering: Behind the Dreams” pavilion! Experience Iconic Imagineering Technology In the “Invent” section of the pavilion, guests will step into the world of technology, a cornerstone of Imagineering storytelling. For the first time, guests will get to see the HoloTile floor in person — the world’s first multi-person, omni-directional, modular treadmill floor — demonstrated by Lanny Smoot, a recent inductee into the National Inventors Hall of Fame. With the HoloTile floor, any number of people can have a shared virtual reality experience, walk an unlimited distance in any direction, and never collide or walk off its surface. Besides VR and gaming applications, the HoloTile floor may be used as an insert in a theatrical stage, allowing performers to move and dance in new ways, or stage props and structures to move around or set themselves up. Recently spotted at Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge at Disneyland, our BDX Droids will be interacting with guests in our pavilion. Utilizing new technologies developed by Disney Research and Walt Disney Imagineering Research & Development, these free-roaming robotic characters are capable of great balance and highly expressive motions. They are designed to be explorer companions, and they have impossibly cute personalities. Creating Entertaining Costumes Get a detailed look at how Disney Live Entertainment Costuming designs and develops custom garments created for Disney shows, parades, and more. In this space, guests can see the various steps that went into the creation of Mickey Mouse’s new Halloween outfit that she’ll be wearing at Disneyland this year. Designing Future Disney Experiences In the “Design” section, guests will get an inside look at models and maquettes for upcoming projects around the world. On the high seas, Imagineers are hard at work on the Disney Treasure and Disney Destiny. Pavilion guests will get to see how our Interior Designers ideate and gather inspiration for Disney Cruise Line ships, including mood boards, sketches and more. One of the displays focuses on how happy haunts will be materializing abord the Disney Treasure at the Haunted Mansion Parlor. The project team compiled concept art, fabrics and maquettes that have influenced the design of the space, including a sculpt of the Disney Legend Rolly Crump bust. As revealed at Destination D23 in 2023, the new concept for the third attraction coming to Avengers Campus at Disney California Adventure park will be an epic family adventure, where you’ll get to team up with more of the Avengers and their allies to battle against foes in a multi-world experience, including King Thanos, a villain designed specifically for Avengers Campus. Within the space, guests will see a maquette of the new ride vehicle, which is key to the attraction’s story. The Avengers are developing a new technology for the attraction, allowing Avengers Campus to become the hub of a new multi-world mission spanning the universe. Thanks to unique collaborations between inventors at Avengers Campus, the heroes have created a new vehicle capable of jumping between these worlds and even realities — on planet Earth and beyond. When World of Frozen inspired by Disney Animation’s “Frozen” opens at Disneyland Paris, Walt Disney Studios Park will receive a brand-new name, Disney Adventure World. Guests will discover the exciting expansion and reimagining of Disneyland Paris’s second park with a detailed model of Disney Adventure World, bringing with it a new creative vision that will nearly double the park’s footprint and transform it into a world of adventure. “Imagineering: Behind the Dreams” is a celebration of our storytelling and technology that will continue to shape Disney experiences for years to come. There’s so much happening in the pavilion that we couldn’t cover it all! As always, Imagineers will be in the pavilion space to talk about their work and interact with guests, so stop by and say hi! Disney Imagineers are always dreaming and doing. Stay up to date with behind-the-scenes magic by following Walt Disney Imagineering on Instagram and YouTube, and stay tuned for more Imagineering stories on the Disney Parks Blog. Disney World brunch is MORE than just your standard plate of bacon and eggs. So let’s start your day off on the right foot with some of the BEST Disney World brunch dining on property! Mickey and Minnie Waffles If you’re one of those Disney vacation folks who thinks breakfast is the most IMPORTANT meal of the day, then you’ve come to the right place. But even if you’re not big on the breakfast scene, stick around. Because we’re gonna be looking at not just some of our FAVORITE places to dine for the A.M. at Disney World, but also some of the most convenient AND most unique offerings (that may change the way you look at brunch foods entirely). Yessiree Bob — we’re in BRUNCH territory now (which you are ALSO allowed to deem as the most important meal of the day. I fully give you permission) While some locations have brunch offerings all week long, many restaurants have weekend-specific brunches that you’ll need to plan into your schedule ahead of time. Grand Floridian Cafe Charming and regal, yet casual and chill — that’s Grand Floridian Cafe in a nutshell for ya! Grand Floridian Cafe is a table service restaurant that serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner but also has a hearty menu of brunch options available until 2PM daily. Check In at Grand Floridian Cafe What’s on the menu? Pancakes, waffles, French toasts, Benedicts, and a couple of full entrees like the Steak and Eggs (with a side of cheesy hash brown casserole) (what did we say about carbs and cheese for breakfast? That’s right. The same concept applies to brunch. Remember that.) But there are TWO entrees here that REALLY take center stage. The first is the hand-breaded, Buttermilk-fried Chicken and Waffle with a Sriracha honey drizzle (which is one of the most FLAVORFUL brunch options out there. It’s sweet, it’s savory, it’s fluffy, it’s crispy. It’s happiness on a plate.) Chicken and Waffles And the second is the Grand Floridian Café Signature Burger — which is made of an Artisanal Burger with Brie, Bacon-Pepper Jam, Roasted Garlic Aïoli, and Arugula on a Seared Brioche Bun. And, yeah, I know that doesn’t SOUND very brunch-y, but it’s, like, the BEST option on the menu. And you can order it all day long. That’s one tasty burger The really nice perk of dining at Grand Floridian Cafe for brunch is that it’s relatively easy to get a reservation for — since it kinda gets overshadowed by the other offerings at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort and Spa. SO even if you need to make a last-minute sit-down reservation somewhere, you’ll more than likely be able to make one here. Click HERE to Read our Latest Grand Floridian Cafe Review Look out! Here come all those specialty weekend brunch offerings I was talking about earlier! Raglan Road Irish Pub Raglan Road Irish Pub is located in Disney Springs and serves… exactly the type of offerings you’d think it’d serve: Irish Pub Food. Now, we’re big fans of eating Raglan Road’s bangers and mash and Shepherd’s Pie during lunch and dinner, but if you come here during the Rollicking Raglan Brunch served on Saturdays and Sundays, you’ll have a few different menu options to choose from, as well as specialty live entertainment and authentic Irish music for brunch AND a show! Raglan Road Brunch-y options include sweeter things — like the Pancakes Diaspora (made crème fraîche, maple syrup and mixed berry compote), and more savory things, too — like The Anglo Irish (made with Eggs benedict, sliced Irish ham, and wilted spinach — all on a brioche muffin topped with hollandaise). All This… And Eggs On Top Forewarning — this brunch CAN get rather loud with all the live entertainment. And that’s still a TON of fun… unless you’re looking for some nice-and-peaceful conversation between two gentlefolk. Then you might end up at Grand Floridian Cafe again. (Or someplace else. I just really like Grand Floridian Cafe.) Click HERE to Read Our Latest Raglan Road Review But this next brunch offering? I also really, really, REALLY like too. Chef Art Smith’s Homecomin’ Rise ‘n Shine! Homecomin’ is one of many great restaurants in Disney Springs No seriously. You can hit up the Rise ‘n Shine Brunch at Homecomin’ in Disney Springs on Saturdays and Sundays — just like Raglan Road’s weekend brunch offerings. Ooooh — the competition is heating UP. LOTS of shining brunch starters and entrees here — like the Hush Puppy Benedict, the Fried Egg & Avocado Toast, and (if you REALLY love yourself) the fried chicken and doughnuts. There’s a lot of ham on top. You’ve also got a full menu of cocktails that stick with the southern charm of this restaurant — such as the Moonshine Mash (with watermelon-infused moonshine), the Sweet Tea Shine (also with moonshine), and the Strawberry Lemonade (oh, lookie there! More moonshine) Dragon fruit mojito The Homecomin’ brunch options stick around until 1PM before switching fully back to their regularly-scheduled lunch offerings for the day. Click HERE to Read Our Latest Homecomin’ Review Time to explore a different type of southern fare — this time, we’re doing it Louisiana-style with Cajun offerings aplenty. House of Blues The Bayou Brunch from House of Blues joins the Disney Springs weekend offerings with breakfast burritos, the Pig Grits and Shrimp (which means bacon-wrapped shrimp, for all you meat fiends out there), the chicken biscuits and gravy, and several other hearty options to fill your stomach before a day of shopping around the Springs. House of Blues Along with brunch, you’ll also be able to listen to live music. You can check the House of Blues calendar on their website to find out who’s going to be playing (and when). Before the 2020 closures, House of Blues also offered a Gospel Brunch on Sundays — but that’s still currently unavailable. House of Blues Full Spread However, the House of Blues website states that this option should be returning some time in the future. Click HERE to Read Our Latest House of Blues Review What’s better than brunch? Brunch that offers FREE stuff. (Did that catch your attention?) The BOATHOUSE Apparently, weekends, brunch, and music go hand-in-hand around Disney Springs — because the Boathouse is following suit with The Captain’s Sing-a-Long Brunch. Now the Sing-a-Long Brunch is more limited than the last four options we’ve talked about — and is only available on Sundays. But WITH Sunday brunch comes things like Jumbo Lump Crabcakes Benedict, Belgian Waffles, and Avocado Toast. The BOATHOUSE But the BEST part about this brunch? If you wear a captain’s hat or a Boathouse shirt — you’ll get a FREE mimosa! That’s right— F-R-E-E mimosa! (And you know we’re ALL about the free stuff!). The Captain’s Sing-a-Long Brunch runs from 10AM-3PM, with dueling piano performances that play between 11AM-2PM. (So, yeah, it’s a party up in here, friends.) Click HERE to Read Our Latest BOATHOUSE Review Whispering Canyon Whispering Canyon Cafe is a table service restaurant offering bottomless skillets — but THIS time you’ve got a choice of THREE different offerings. Whispering Canyon You can order the Heritage — which will give you a standard variety of biscuits, bacon, waffles, eggs… you know the drill. You can also order the Carnivore — which will give you a BUNCH more meat-based options: like Maple-Chipotle Barbecued Slow-smoked Pork Ribs, Oak-smoked Beef Brisket, Barbecued Pulled Pork, and Citrus-Herb Chicken (which sounds like straight-up lunch to me, but maybe that’s what you’re trying to track down?) OR you can order the Lighter Side — which has Oatmeal, Fresh Fruit, Yogurt, Egg White-Spinach Frittata, Turkey Bacon, Turkey Sausage, Country Potatoes, and Mickey-shaped Waffles. Skillet Whispering Canyon Cafe also offers a la carte options if you don’t feel like sharing your waffles and oatmeal with the rest of the table. Mickey and Minnie Waffles Whispering Canyon is a solid option for families who are split between wanting a big breakfast or a big lunch — since both types of options can be found on the breakfast menu. Meaning while one person’s chomping away on their ham and cheese omelette, another person could be enjoying a hearty bison burger with a side of sweet potato fries. Click HERE to Read Our Latest Whispering Canyon Review Wolfgang Puck Bar & Grill This is a spot at Disney Springs that can often get overlooked for flashier, fancier, or trendier spots. To be honest, even I forget about it sometimes. But you know what I can’t forget? BOTTOMLESS MIMOSAS. Wolfgang Puck Bar and Grill Yep, Wolfgang Puck’s offers Bottomless Mimosa for $25. Of course, there is a catch — there’s always a catch for something that is too good to be true, even in Disney World. You’ll get bottomless mimosas during a two-hour period. So, you’ll have two hours to drink $25+ worth of these bubbly cocktails before your tab expires. But still, I accept that challenge! Look at all those mushrooms! And while you’re guzzling your sparkling O.J., why not nosh on some outside-the-box brunch options? We’ve come to expect items like Shrimp and Grits and Chicken and Waffles, which you can definitely find here. But you can also get Scottish Salmon, Spaghetti, and Wild Mushroom Pizza, all for brunch! So why not? Lift your bottomless mimosa glass and toast the creative brunch thinking of Wolfgang Puck. Click HERE to Read Our Latest Wolfgang Puck Bar & Grill Review Steakhouse 71 Breakfast. Lunch. Dinner. We love it ALL at Steakhouse 71 in Disney’s Contemporary Resort. But we’re here for BRUNCH today — so let’s talk about what you’re gonna find here. You can also get several other alcoholic “wake-up calls” — like the Steakhouse Bloody Mary, the Tequila Sunrise, and the Bourbon Cold Brew. Curious Cold Brew And, of course, we’ve gotta talk about those hearty breakfast servings! You’re not gonna walk away hungry after ordering ANY of these entrees. In fact, they’ve got a whole breakfast FEAST — including Eggs Benedict, Scrambled Egg, Bacon, Sausage, Mickey-shaped Waffle, Bacon-Cheddar Grits, Breakfast Potatoes, and Fresh Fruit — practically anything your brunchin’ heart desires. Steakhouse 71 also has their seasonal pancakes — with rotating flavors like blueberry lemon, pumpkin, and strawberry chocolate chip. Click HERE to Read Our Latest Steakhouse 71 Review Hungry yet? If you’re ready to explore MORE breakfast reviews for these restaurants, just go to our DFB website for ALL the breakfast-specifics — including the good, the bad, and the “runny.” Runny EGG, that is. Who is ready for spooky season? Mickey pumpkin in Disneyland It’s only a matter of time before the first Halloween decorations start appearing in Disneyland (bring on the Mickey pumpkins!). We’re also excited about the tons of snacks coming to the resort throughout the Halloween and fall season (over 100!). But there are also a few other things to get excited about, including a special Halloween character dining experience — and reservations will open soon for that. A special Halloween character dining experience is coming to Goofy’s Kitchen at the Disneyland Hotel. According to Disney, “During the Halloween season, Goofy’s Kitchen will offer a bountiful buffet for breakfast, brunch and dinner.” We expect the decorations to be spooky and the characters to be decked out in their Halloween costumes. Sounds like fun, right? Goofy’s Kitchen at Disneyland Hotel So when will you be able to book your Halloween meal? Reservations open on August 15th — that’s not too far away! We expect this character dining experience to be popular, so you’ll want to make those reservations ASAP! Goofy’s Kitchen is a buffet open for breakfast and dinner, so you can choose what time of day works best for you! We’re always looking for a great spot in Disney World to enjoy a special evening out — and we think we might have struck gold with this restaurant! Full Spread When you’re looking for a nice evening out for date night or a special celebration, it’s easy to fall into the same routine restaurants that we hold near and dear. We recently ventured a little further off the beaten path and the experience we had proved there’s more than meets the eye at some of Disney World’s hotel dining experiences if you’re willing to search for it! At Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort, you’ll find Toledo — Tapas, Steak & Seafood where diners will be treated to a Spanish-inspired cuisine that includes seafood and steak options within this rooftop restaurant. Small plates and House Boards (charcuterie and cheese) are a specialty here and can be seen plated at the open tapas kitchen just to the far side of the restaurant’s dining room. Toledo check in As you venture inside, the restaurant’s vaulted ceilings come into focus and the backlit ceiling helps set the tone for the evening. If you happen to time your dinner just right, you could also enjoy views of fireworks shows from the restaurant’s rooftop balcony. Atmosphere As you walk up to the restaurant’s entrance it’s hard not to be immediately captivated by the sheer beauty found just beyond the check-in. When you arrive, you’ll be greeted by a Cast Member at the host stand who will check you in for your reservation. There are a few padded benches to sit on while you wait for your table to be prepared. Check-in desk When your table is ready, you’ll be escorted through the dining room to your table as you pass by a large open bar area… Bar …several booth-style seats for larger… Booths …and smaller dining parties, as well as standalone tables that are well-lit with beautiful hanging lights overhead and large floor-to-ceiling windows to see outside! Beautiful windows and lighting When the weather is good, you can also take your drinks out on the balcony to look out and enjoy the views! There’s a lot of Spanish influence here and the multicolored ceiling changes to mimic the change of the sun setting through stained glass just like it does in Toledo, Spain (pretty neat, huh?). Look at all the pretty colors It was mind-blowing watching the colors change from deep hues of red to orange, into yellow and even a few deeper shades of blues and purples. The next time you visit, take some time to watch the changes happen! Menu There’s a fairly extensive menu here at Toledo that’s made of Tapas or starters to your meal, an option for a Chef’s Signature Dinner for Two, entrees and enhancements, sides… Dinner menu …specialty cocktails, beers, hard ciders, non-alcoholic beverages… Back of the dinner menu …and a rather extensive wine menu that spans the front… Front of the wine menu …and the back of the entire menu. Back side of the wine menu There’s also a separate menu for desserts when you get around, specialty coffees and teas… Dessert menu …as well as sweet wines, dessert spirits, and hot beverages with alcohol. Dessert menu continued After browsing the entirety of the menus before us, we were able to gather our meal together and place our order. Drinks We felt very inspired by the Spanish touches all around this hotel and the incredible decor so when we spotted the Spanish Margarita on the menu, we immediately felt drawn to it! It’s made of Patrón Silver Tequila, Cardinal Mendoza Angêlus Original Recipe Liqueur, Lime, and Agave which will cost you $17. Spanish Margarita Be forewarned though, this gal’s a hefty marg both in size AND in taste! This margarita comes with a beautiful presentation in a wide glass and a half rim of salt giving it a sophisticated vibe. Although you might think “margarita” and order this one thinking it will have a heavy lime taste to it, that couldn’t have been further from our experience. The tequila and agave will be your most prominent flavors in this one while the lime will follow with more of the aftertaste, however, even with its more forward alcoholic flavors it’s not terribly strong as a drink overall — just potent. Eats Just as we were sipping on our margarita our entire order started to arrive. We waited just a few moments so we could show off our meal in its entirety. We opted for the Rioja-braised Chorizo as our appetizer, and for our entree we chose the Marinated Grilled Lamb Loin with an extra side of Patatas Bravas. Full spread It was looking pretty tasty to us when we started taking pictures of it! So let’s dig in! We kicked off the food part of our review with our starter first — the Rioja-braised Chorizo. This dish is made with Spanish-style sausage served in Rioja Wine and onions and will cost you $15. It’s also served with a few sides of bread crusts. Rioja-braised Chorizo Wow! This was a great way to start off our meal! It’s served to your table very hot so there’s a wooden tray it’s fit into and your server will ask you to use caution and avoid touching the outside of the bowl. The chorizo is almost like a dip with the onions and wine as sauce. Close up The bread was crisp but not rock solid to where it wouldn’t crumble when you bit into it. It also tasted like it was buttered or dipped in oil before it was dried to become crispier! Bread When we dipped the bread pieces into the chorizo it eventually did start to soften the bread a bit but it had great flavor with the sausage and onions. The rioja wine was on the saltier side which gave it more of a savory feel and we thoroughly enjoyed this one! Savory and salty Then it was time to turn our attention to the entree of the evening — the Marinated Grilled Lamb Loin. This fancy dish is served with Potatoes, Salsa Verde, Greens, and Blistered Peppers which will set you back $35. Marinated Grilled Lamb Loin Wow, again, the presentation from this restaurant just can’t seem to disappoint when we laid eyes on this dish. The lamb here is the stand out for this entire meal — there we’ve said it. It was cooked at a medium temperature and you could see the juices flowing out of it as it was brought out to the table. Look how perfectly cooked this meat is! It’s got a hefty price tag, that’s for sure, but there really is so much meat in this dish! It’s also propped up nicely on blocks of juicy warm potatoes that add that extra bang for your buck with this one. As for the meat though, it was so tender but it held together like a steak would (which kind of caught us off guard) as you might anticipate with lamb it was chewy and delicious and we were tasting that juicy flavor with every bite! If you’re really in for a trip to flavor town, try scooping up some of the tomato-based sauce just underneath it that’s made with Piquillo pepper that wants to taste like chipotle but just not as intense of a spice. With the sauce The mixed greens at the top are really more of a garnishment but they were as fresh and crunchy as we had hoped them to be. The blistered peppers really were more like sliced and sautéed jalapeño peppers that we honestly could have taken or left depending on the mood because we just couldn’t get over how flavorful the lamb and potatoes were in this one. And if that wasn’t enough to convince you to come and try the food here we also ordered a side of Patatas Bravas along with our meal! These fried potato chunks come served in a bowl with TWO sauces drizzled on and underneath them for an additional $8.50. Patatas Bravas When they arrived our server asked us to use the accompanying spoon to toss the sauces around within the bowl and mix up the flavors and we have to say, he knew this dish best! Honestly, if we hadn’t already ordered the lamb entree, we’re very confident we could have eaten this as our entire meal and not complained at all! There’s a very big portion served in this “side” so if you’re considering ordering multiple sides, we would caution you to know you could comfortably split these between 2 or 3 people. These potato wedges were crispy and seasoned on the outside but soft and melted like butter once they hit your mouth! Gotta mix up the sauces The two sauces were made of a creamy salsa verde that tasted like it had an avocado undertone to it, while the other sauce turned up the heat a bit as a tomato jam with red pepper flakes, Cayenne pepper, and that lovely Piquillo pepper once again blended together to create just enough heat to make you take notice. Here’s our hot tip on this one: if you’re a fan of either or BOTH of the sauces and find yourself craving more with your side, just ask your server for more — they’re happy to oblige and bring out some more for you to mix to your liking. We asked for more sauces because they’re amazing We finally made it around to ordering dessert and we have to admit, we were feeling the pressure of what we thought we could handle after such a filling meal. After browsing the dessert menu for a bit, we locked in our choice for the ‘Cafe con Leche’ Choux. This little guy is made with dark chocolate and vanilla whipped cream and you can snag your own for $9.25. Cafe Con Lech Choux This little guy was almost too cute to dig into but we’ll be the first to tell you it digs deep to bring out the best of the deep, rich, dark chocolate flavor and it truly delivers! The richness is broken up a bit by the raspberries that accompany the choux on the bed of whipped cream. The salt at the top of the hat decoration makes it all that much more decadent and you’re in for a true treat when you order this as your dessert. Cross section of the choux After you break it open, the outer layer of the show that’s more like a spongey dessert bread reveals the inside chocolate mousse hidden within that’s just as rich and creamy as all the other flavors you’ve weathered to get to it. Creamy We get why it’s called ‘Cafe con Leche’ though as the inside mousse has a hint of sweet coffee or cafecito taste to the inside mousse which helps it live up to the namesake. Overall If the message wasn’t clear about how we’d already been singing the praises of just how great this food tastes, we’re already planning a return visit. Juicy and tender Everything we ordered this meal was exceptional which makes us even more excited to return and try out new items in the future! Nosh or Not? Whisk your way off into the sunset and beyond the stained glass windows of Toledo if… You’re looking for Disney World food that doesn’t “feel” like Disney World food. If you’re tired of the same old stuff over and over again, this is really a safe place to try out new flavors or work to expand your palette. You’re looking for just the right restaurant for a special evening or date night. We’ve dined at some expensive Disney World restaurants and we don’t always come back raving about them. However, if you’re looking for somewhere to dine that feels very upscale without totally going too far out of budget, this is an excellent option! Rooftop dining just hits differently. You’re at the very top of the Gran Destino Tower at this Disney World hotel, and the views are gorgeous looking through those floor-to-ceiling windows. This is a prime location if you’re looking for a great restaurant to try out but don’t want to feel so confined to a tiny room or claustrophobic. Feel the wind in the air as it whisks you off somewhere else when… You like the idea of a mature dining experience and a dress code to match it. Casual clothing is accepted at this restaurant so if you’re looking for a robust premium experience, you might do best visiting one of Disney World’s signature dining restaurants. Tapas and Spanish-inspired cuisine just isn’t your thing. That’s quite literally the bulk of the menu here aside from the drinks but we can see not want to make a reservation at a restaurant when there are lounges nearby for that. You’re unsure if you’d get your money’s worth. Ok, let us explain. Yes, we had a wonderful, very filling meal however, we recognize that might not be how everyone chooses to dine at a Disney World restaurant. If you’re really only sticking to an entree and dessert without an appetizer and extra side to get you by, we could see the hesitation on not thinking you could fill up as easily as other restaurants in Disney World.
