There have been several reports of airplane incidents over the past few months, including engine fires and ground stops due to space launch debris. Now, another situation occurred at Disney World’s closest airport, Orlando International Airport (MCO). MCO According to CNN, a Southwest Airlines plane mistakenly tried to take off on the taxiway instead of the runway. The Boeing 737 was cleared for takeoff from Orlando Airport to Albany, New York, but the plane began to accelerate on a parallel taxiway instead of the proper runway. Air traffic control alerted the pilots, who stopped the plane, and there were no crashes or damage. Southwest The plane reached 70 knots, about 80 mph, before stopping. For takeoff, planes are usually traveling at around 150 mph, but on taxiways, they go about 35 mph. Southwest Airlines at the Orlando Airport Southwest is working with the FAA and NTBS (National Transportation Safety Board) “to understand the circumstances of the event.” Stay updated on everything that might affect your upcoming vacation by following Disney Food Blog. Here at DFB, our mission is to help provide information, tips, and news to you to make your Disney trips easier. Disney’s Hollywood Studios We will tell you what you actually need in your park bags, tell you which restaurants are a skip, and which Disney World hotels are the best. So when we found out about this Lightning Lane hack, I knew we had to share it, even if it was against my editor’s wishes. But she’s not here, so if you promise not to tell her, I will let you in on this BIG news. There’s a LOT to learn about Disney’s premium skip-the-ride-line service. So much so that we’ve created a completely detailed (and completely FREE) Lightning Lane guide to help keep it all organized and easy for you to keep track of. So what’s the scoop? There is a 3-hour grace period where you can scan into your Lightning Lanes EVEN if it’s already way past your return time window. Of course, we didn’t want to tell you about this secret before having tested it out ourselves first so we had a few of our DFB reporters test this one by purposely being late for their Lightning Lane return window. They learned that the maximum amount of time they were able to scan in and still get the “green light” of approval was 2 hours AFTER their Lightning Lane return window was supposed to have ended. Lightning Lane at Peter Pan’s Flight Next time when your Disney World app gives you a one-hour return window, just remember it’s more like a three-hour return window. In the past with Genie+, the grace period was only 15 minutes, so this 3-hour window was a BIG shock to us and we are not mad about this. Now, Disney could change this rule at any time, so we don’t suggest relying on it unless you really have to. For example, if your dining reservation runs later than intended, you get stuck in a line longer than anticipated, etc. Lightning Lane It’s nice to know that you’ve got a safety net to fall back on if you’re running behind schedule. April is quickly approaching, and that means your next trip to Disney World could be too! Spaceship Earth April can be a tricky time in Disney World for a number of reasons, but that’s no reason to panic about your upcoming trip! We here at DFB are experts and we have people in the parks every single day so you’re not caught off guard. If you’re heading to Disney World in April, these are the mistakes you may be inclined to make, but we’re here to warn you NOW so that won’t happen! Don’t Underestimate Spring Break Crowds April is when a lot of spring breaks fall for schools all around the country, and that means it’s important for you to expect them. Now, we’re not telling you to NOT go to Disney World during this time of year, because we understand that spring break is the only time many families can go, but you need to adjust your expectations before you step into the park. Magic Kingdom It’s going to be crowded. That’s very much a given, and it’s better if you go into your park days expecting to see higher wait times and larger crowds and then are pleasantly surprised, rather than the opposite. If you’re planning on buying Lightning Lane Multi Pass or Single Pass, you’ll also want to make sure you’re on top of making those reservations as soon as you can, because they’ll sell out quick! Believe The Heat! April is a strange time because it’s not too hot, but summer is on the way, so temperatures are heating up around in Disney World. When you’re traveling to the parks during this month, you’ll want to be sure you dress for warmer weather but also be sure you have a light cardigan or jacket with you, because inside restaurants or attractions can be chilly with that AC blasting! EPCOT Even more importantly: wear that sunscreen! Even if it doesn’t feel too hot or it’s cloudy, slather that sunscreen on and make sure you’re protected against the sun. The last thing you want is to get a sunburn and be uncomfortable for the rest of your trip. Trust us, we’ve been there, done that, and we don’t recommend. Don’t Forget That Certain Rides Are Closed April also means that certain rides are closed in Disney World, and it’s important you know about them ahead of time so you’re not caught off guard and disappointed that you can’t ride something! In April, you won’t be able to experience Big Thunder Mountain Railroad or Astro Orbiter in Magic Kingdom, TriceraTop Spin has officially been demolished in Animal Kingdom as part of the massive retheme to Pueblo Esperanza, and It’s Tough to Be A Bug is no more as well. Big Thunder Mountain Railroad However, it’s also important to remember that your Magic Kingdom and EPCOT rope drop strategies have likely changed, as Tiana’s Bayou Adventure and Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind both no longer have Virtual Queues. Both now have regular standby queues, or you can purchase a Lightning Lane Single Pass for Cosmic Rewind, and Tiana’s is included with Multi Pass (but it does book up fast!) Traveling to Disney World can be immensely stressful, yet exciting at the same time. We know there’s a lot to plan and figure out, but we’ll be here to make sure you’re as prepared as possible, so stay tuned to DFB! We had the chance to stop by this colorful little food truck in Disney World, and we’re happy we did! Here at DFB, we love to check things out and update you on all kinds of snacks to eat — I mean, it’s in our name! Cilantro Urban Eatery Food Truck Disney Springs in Disney World has so many food options to choose from. It can be overwhelming sometimes, so let us help you out — go to Cilantro Urban Eatery! The food item we got from there was SO GOOD, and we wanted to share our thoughts with you. At the Cilantro Urban Eatery food truck, we were enticed to try out this thing called the Burger-rrito. This is described as a signature Venezuelan-style burger in wrap, with angus beef, BLT, cheese, potato sticks, mustard, ketchup, chipotle mayo, and avocado mayo, wrapped and pressed in a flour tortilla. OK, that sounds very good. I mean, Burger and Burrito mix?! Sign us up! Cilantro Urban Eatery Menu This thing was TASTY! The burger meat itself tasted evenly salty and high-quality and was very well seasoned! The veggies are fresh and crisp, and we loved the extra crunchiness from the potato sticks. Burger-rrito We chose to opt out of the ketchup and mustard because we didn’t want it to feel too busy, plus we wanted to taste the chipotle and avocado mayo a little better. We’re glad we did because those flavors came out AMAZINGLY. The chipotle mayo had no kick to it; it was very very mild. Regardless, it was really tasty so we didn’t mind the weak chipotle flavor. YUM! The burrito is STUFFED with ingredients, and yet wasn’t soggy at all! The tortilla was soft and pleasantly toasted and warm. This is officially a meal we would go out of our way to get! It’s a unique fun twist on a burger/burrito — and not to sound like a broken record, but it’s delicious! Our one and only critique is we wish it came with a side of fries or chips. After all, it was $15. Get the Burger-rrito! WE KNOW – there are SO many great snacks at Disney World! How do you choose (we don’t want to choose but will blow our budget on Day 1 otherwise)? We’ve got you covered! We have reviewed nearly EVERY snack available at Disney World, and we’ve written a series of DFB Guides about them! Check out our DFB Guide to Walt Disney World Dining + Snacks Bundle for all the details you need to plan your snackin’ and spending. You can even download them to your smartphone – it’ll be like we’re right there with you in the parks! If it wasn’t made clear, we’d definitely get this again! So, next time you make your way to Disney Springs, give it a try! We’ll always be looking out for more snacks to review around Walt Disney World. If you’re one of those people, then you’ll love Disney’s latest deal, which is available for guests both pre- and post-sailing! Disney just announced a new deal for TWO of its Disney World hotels — you can save up to 35% on select rooms at Disney’s Saratoga Springs Resort & Spa and Old Key West Resort if you’re staying pre-cruise OR post-cruise! ©Disney If you’re booking a pre-cruise trip to Disney World, the final day of your stay must be the date before your sail date, and if you’re booking a post-cruise hotel stay, your first night at the hotel must be the same day you disembark. It’s hard to believe we’ve lived without Test Track in EPCOT for almost a whole year, but here we are. Test Track Test Track closed back in June 2024 for a massive re-theme and isn’t scheduled to reopen until late summer 2025. So yep, that’s another full-year closure for a major ride (note that Big Thunder Mountain Railroad in Magic Kingdom is also undergoing a massive year-long refurbishment). But why is Disney taking SO long to finish the Test Track re-theme? Well, we have a few ideas. Everything is Getting Gutted and Replaced Disney has not yet really shared a lot of details about the new version of Test Track except that it’s getting new show scenes to showcase technological advances and how our lifestyles and relationships to mobility connect everyone. The queue will also be getting six new exhibits. This suggests that the entirety of the ride interior and queue area has probably been demolished and is being re-done. That takes time. ©Disney The ride vehicles are also changing. Concept art suggests the new vehicles will be taking inspiration from the old World of Motion vehicles (this was the ride that existed in this space before Test Track). Disney Confirmed 6 BIG Additions for EPCOT’s Reimagined Test Track Attraction Completely New Exterior However, the OUTSIDE of the ride is also changing, so pretty much everything of the old Test Track is going away to make way for new things, inside and out. Again, this is going to take a lot of time to completely overhaul the ride. Here’s what the ride’s new exterior will look like. ©Disney That’s a BIG difference from the old entrance into the ride. There’s a new sign, new lighting, new everything. What Will the New Version of Test Track Be Like in Disney World? Of course, we’re just guessing here because Disney has been very tight-lipped about what the new Test Track will look like or how different it will be when it reopens later this year. It does seem that the refurbishment is a huge undertaking, though, and one that will take about a year to complete. Stay tuned to DFB for more. So it’s bound to happen when you fly on a plane, whether you’re going to Disney World or somewhere else. Yep, you’re going to have to use the bathroom. The urge happens and, well, you can’t do anything about it but listen to your body. Flying Southwest Now, it’s kinda a hassle to use those tiny little bathrooms because you first have to get out of your seat (and you can only do that if the “fasten seatbelt” sign above your seat is off). You might even have to get past other people if you’re not sitting on the aisle, and then you have to make your way to the closest facilities. Once you’re in there, though, there’s a very important rule you need to follow. There’s usually a sign on the toilet seat that tells you not to put things in there. So don’t do that, because, on one recent flight, people did…and it got…well, gross. Planning a trip to Disney World or Disneyland or even a Disney Cruise doesn’t have to be hard! Let the experts at Small World Vacations help you — it’s FREE! According to CNN, an Air India flight from Chicago to New Delhi recently had to return after hours into its trip because the bathroom toilets were clogged up. Yes, people were just shoving everything into the toilets, even though you’re not supposed to do that. A Southwest airplane’s interior. About one hour and 45 minutes into the flight, the crew were notified that some toilets on the plane were out of order. Later, it was determined that 8 out of the 12 toilets on the aircraft were “unserviceable” resulting in “discomfort to all on board.” An investigation revealed that “polythene bags, rags, and clothes,” as well as other items had been flushed down the toilets and were “stuck in the plumbing.” Premium Seating on ©Southwest Airlines The plane was then diverted back to Chicago, where passengers were provided with accommodations at local hotels and alternate flights. Perhaps what’s more shocking is that this isn’t the first time things have been found in Air India toilets. A spokesperson said that “blankets, innerwear, and diapers, among other waste, have been flushed down toilets on other flights.” Anyway, we wanted to reiterate that you should NEVER flush anything in aircraft toilets. There are indications that this is against the rules and if people continue to do that, you very well could not make it to your destination. If you must rid yourself of trash, there are small trash receptacles in each bathroom PLUS flight crew come through the cabin collecting trash during flights (or you could even ask them to throw something away for you). Have you heard of SEA LIFE Florida at LEGOLAND? Prepare to be AMAZED! SEALIFE hard hat The team at LEGOLAND Florida Resort has some fantastic projects currently in development, and we want to tell you everything we saw. It honestly made us think we might need to become aquarists ourselves! Come with us for an under-construction sneak peek at SEA LIFE Florida. We just had the incredible privilege of visiting LEGOLAND Florida Resort for the SEA LIFE Florida Aquarium Hard Hat Tour Media Event! There are over 40 SEALIFE aquarium attractions around the world, and this new one in LEGOLAND is the most technologically advanced yet. Media Badge SEA LIFE at Legoland will have so many cool exhibits to check out — a freshwater swamp, seahorse nursery, coral reef, and a fun little area called Sting Ray Bay! There will even be an Ocean Tank, which will become home to three blacktip reef sharks — the stars of the aquarium. One of the sharks is coming all the way from Germany; talk about a long journey! SEA LIFE Florida SEA LIFE Florida will also feature an interactive touch pool with species you won’t find here in Florida, including sea anemone, abalone, snails, and sea stars. We cannot WAIT to explore all the new exhibits. SEALIFE at LEGOLAND But that’s not all! We learned that in the new interactive Jelly Invaders area, you will be able to CHANGE THE COLOR that the jellyfish are floating through, so it will appear like the jellyfish themselves are changing colors. How cool is that?! We learned a LOT! There will even be colorful caves where there will be glow-in-the-dark creatures. And, if you love octopi, you’ll find one living in Blackbeard’s ship (or what’s left of it — it’s more of a shipwreck!). Getting a look at the tanks OK, this might be our favorite news of the trip. So, as we mentioned, there will be a BIG ocean tank (we’re talking around 150,000 gallons of water). Inside this tank, SEALIFE Florida is creating a theme park-inspired design, complete with a haunted house section (!!!). For just over five decades, Space Mountain has been the crown jewel of the Magic Kingdom and arguably the most famous Disney thrill ride in pop culture. Yet this marvel of ride design still holds some secrets within its intergalactic interior. Space Mountain The Magic Kingdom’s Space Mountain, which is the first Space Mountain overall, opened at Walt Disney World in January of 1975. The revolutionary-for-the-time indoor coaster was an immediate smash, becoming the resort’s first true thrill attraction, and ushering in a new era for both Disney and the theme park industry overall. In the years since, versions have been built at Disneyland, Tokyo Disneyland, Disneyland Paris, and Hong Kong Disneyland, and the name Space Mountain has become iconic in pop culture. Despite all of that, there are still some things many may not know about the iconic ride. Walt’s Initial Concept Despite opening 8 years after Walt Disney’s death (and in a park he never stepped foot in) the original concept that became Space Mountain began with Uncle Walt Himself. In the early 1960s, Walt – – fresh of the success of introducing the Matterhorn to Disneyland — approached Imagineer John Hench with the idea of basing the park’s upcoming New Tomorrowland project around a “Space Port” attraction that would include a “roller-coaster-style ride in the dark, with lighting and other special effects.” ©Disney Originally called “Space Port” and “Space Voyage”, Imagineering (known as WED Enterprises at the time)m saw concept artwork developed by Hench, Clem Hall, George McGinnis, and Herb Ryman. The name “Space Mountain” was first used for the project in 1966. However, due to Walt’s death in December of that year as well as technological limitations, the ride was dropped form the New Tomorrowland lineup and put on the overall back burner until… The RCA Connection During the construction of Walt Disney World in the late 1960s and early 1970s, the RCA Corporation was contracted by Disney to provide communications hardware and infrastructure for the resort. Built into that contract was a provision that Disney could pitch RCA an attraction to sponsor, which RCA would be required to provide $10 million in support for if they agreed to the sponsorship. Space Mountain Opening Day, ©Disney Disney, led by then-CEO E. Card Walker was successfully able to sell the company on the Space Mountain concept. In fact, not only did the company give the $10 million and sponsor the attraction upon its 1975 opening, but Imagineers partially used RCA technology to settle the technical issues that had initially proved a problem a decade earlier. The Star Tunnel Space Mountain occupies an interesting piece of real estate in the Magic Kingdom. Technically, the iconic show building that houses the coaster is actually located OUTSIDE the park’s berm. Guests enter the attraction and immediately begin walking the “star tunnel”, and enclosed queue that actually takes them underneath the Walt Disney World Railroad and up into the Space Mountain cone-shaped show building, where the ride’s switchbacks and loading area are located. Space Mountain queue The Need for Speed? While Space Mountain may FEEL like a high-speed journey through the cosmos, the coaster only reaches a top speed of approximately 27 MPH. The ride fools riders into thinking it’s moving much faster thanks to blasts of cold air, the space travel thematic elements, and of course the darkness in which it takes place. Speaking of that darkness… Space Mountain on-ride photo Lights ON! There are few bigger “white whales” to chase for major Disney fans than riding Space Mountain with the lights on. Space Mountain with the lights on While this is rare, it does sometimes happen if there’s an issue with the ride, though it has been offered on a few special occasions as well. It looks so different Of course, as cool as riding with the lights on is in concept, it’s also a reminder how important the theming and darkness is to the attraction as once it’s stripped away, the track is simply that of a typical wild mouse-style coaster. Easter Eggs As with many Disney attractions, there are several Easter eggs and other references scattered throughout the attraction. For example, there are several references to Starport Seven-Five as the “official” name of the space station. This is, of course, a reference to the attraction’s opening year of 1975. In addition, the attraction’s exit ramp — which riders walk back after exiting the attraction — features several references to EPCOT’s dearly departed Horizons attraction. Mickey Mouse Space Mountain Pin To many, even 50 years after its debut the Magic Kingdom’s Space Mountain remains the peak (no, we couldn’t resist) of Disney’s thrill attraction empire. Something HUGE is about to begin in Disneyland. ©Disney The resort will soon be celebrating its 70th Anniversary! Of course, that means that Disney is going ALL out with celebratory entertainment, food, experiences, and more. Even some attractions are getting in on the celebration. Well, one of the BIGGEST announcements Disney made about its plan for the big party is the return of the nighttime parade, Paint the Night. Now, Disney has revealed some details about dining packages for that parade, as well as some new dining experiences coming to Disneyland. You’ll soon be able to book a Paint the Night Dining Package at Plaza Inn for a multi-course meal that comes with reserved viewing of the Paint the Night Parade. Those who book a dining package can pick up their meal between 1 PM and 4 PM and sit at any table to enjoy it at Plaza Inn. This dining package also offers a kids’ meal option. Reservations for the Paint the Night Dining Package will open on March 25th. ©Disney But that’s not all. For the first time EVER, Storytellers Cafe at Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel & Spa will be hosting a character dinner dining experience, Donald’s Tales of Adventure Dinner Buffet. You’ll be able to join Donald, Daisy, and some of their friends for barbecue-style food and “comforting desserts.” Note that Mickey’s Tales of Adventure will continue for breakfast and brunch. Reservations for the character dinner experience open on March 25th. Dinner will be $62 per adult and $36 per child (ages 3 to 9). Storytellers Cafe Finally, if you’re visiting Disneyland during Season of the Force, a special fireworks dining package is available. The Docking Bay 7 Food and Cargo Nighttime Gathering will offer food, drinks, and special takeaway items, along with reserved viewing of the “Fire of the Rising Moons” fireworks show in Star Sars: Galaxy’s Edge. Are you ready for a runDisney race? ©Disney RunDisney is a series of races held by Disney every year that go through EPCOT, Magic Kingdom, Disneyland, and more! If you can’t get to the theme parks, Disney has finally released the themes for the 2025 Virtual Series and we are in love. Are you ready to race because runDisney is back in 2025! This hugely popular Disney experience sees fans running a 5K, 10K, a half marathon, or marathon through Disney property with a shiny medal waiting at the end. There are runDisney weekends all throughout the year with rotating themes and high demand every time. ©runDisney If you have always wanted to participate in these events but can’t make it to the theme parks or don’t want the pressure of running with groups of people, it seems like the virtual races are for you! This year runDisney is celebrating 10 years of offering virtual races with 4 themes inspired by the parks. First up is the Pirates of the Caribbean 5K which will have you running or walking 3.1 miles. ©Disney If you want to make running a bit more funny, the next theme is inspired by the Jungle Cruise! We aren’t really runners so this feels like the perfect way to laugh through the pain of running. ©Disney Finally, the third 5K option is inspired by Big Thunder Mountain! You could have the wildest run in the wilderness. (Although we can’t say we encourage running through the wilderness!) ©Disney For their big grand finale, Disney shared that everyone who signs up and completes all three 5Ks will receive a fourth medal inspired by Happily Ever After, the fan-favorite fireworks show in Magic Kingdom! That’s a total of 9.3 miles for anyone counting. ©Disney Event registration opens on April 1st, 2025 and the races can be completed from June 1st through August 31, 2025. We think these themes are too cute and they might even make us consider running. We won’t actually run, but we’ll consider it! If you’re already looking into next year, registration for the 2026 runDisney races opened earlier this month on March 11th. ©Disney For anyone in the race at the parks or at home! Disney World changes all the time, and even for people like us who are in the parks every single day, we still get confused sometimes about what the best way is to make sure your Disney World trip works for you. Magic Kingdom One of our favorite ways to make Disney work for us is to save money anywhere we can. Something you’ll often find costs the most when you’re in Disney World that it sometimes feel you can’t really get around is dining. However, there IS a way to successfully bring down the cost of dining on your vacation, and it may not be in the way you expect. We can’t tell you how many times we’ve ordered a signature drink, limited time beverage, or even a quick service entree with a completely jacked up price. And that price is jacked up JUST because it has a glow cube, it’s in a fun little cup, or it has a side item that we really weren’t that interested in eating anyway. While those extra $3-$4 don’t seem like a ton, when it happens more than once, or you’re ordering more than one of something with it, then it starts to get really pricey. Lotus Flower Glowing Cube from 2023 However, it’s important to know that in some cases, you may be able to ask for the beverage WITHOUT the additional glow cube, which will knock down the drink price! The same thing applies to those light-up sippers or asking for a Lapu Lapu from Tambu Lounge at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort MINUS the carved-out pineapple cup. As cool as it is, it really adds to that price tag, and sometimes it’s more important to save a few bucks (and saving those $5 could get you a whole other snack somewhere else on property)! Lapu Lapu When it comes to paying less for an entree, try ordering it without the side. This might not be applicable for EVERY quick service entree, but oftentimes it CAN be done and will help you save a couple bucks on dining in the process. However, keep in mind that most of the time you CANNOT mobile order an entree and ask for it without the side. You’ll have to stand in line and ask a Cast Member in person whether this is something that can be done or not, which means you might be sacrificing spending more time in line for saving a few dollars. Pecos Bill We’ve tried each and every one of these ourselves and can confirm that while they won’t work every time, it’s certainly worth it to ask if you’re traveling on a budget. Now, it’s also important to be polite when you ask and respect if you’re told it won’t be possible — it’s never okay to be rude to Cast Members! Disney held its Annual Shareholder Meeting on March 20th, 2025, and we heard updates on several different areas of the company and even heard from the shareholders themselves. Walt Disney Company Headquarters in Burbank During the voting portion of the meeting, a few different shareholder proposals were discussed, including climate risks to retirement plan beneficiaries — and the proposal to end the company’s participation in the Human Rights Campaign’s Corporate Equality Index. Several different proposals were voted on at the March 20th meeting, a few of which were put forth by the company — including electing new directors of the board and confirming executive compensation packages. But, there were additional proposals from a few shareholders at the meeting as well — that Disney’s board recommended other shareholders vote against. ©Disney | Walt Disney Company Headquarters The first proposal came from James McRitchie ROTH IRA, represented by As You Saw, who wanted Disney to address the climate risks to its retirement plan beneficiaries. According to McRitchie, the company has “not acted to meaningfully address the emissions generated by its retirement plan investments. The plan’s most popular option by assets invested is the BlackRock LifePath series. The funds in this series account for 31% of plan assets. These funds invest heavily in high-carbon companies and companies contributing to deforestation.” Walt Disney Company Headquarters ©LA Times The proposal sought to have Disney publish a report disclosing if and how the company was protecting retirement plan beneficiaries from high-carbon companies. In response, Disney stated that it did not believe “a report on this matter would be a valuable use of Company time and resources, nor enhance long-term shareholder value,” and recommended shareholders vote against it — which they did during the meeting. Walt Disney Studios The National Center for Public Policy Research (which describes itself as a non-partisan independent conservative think tank) also made a proposal at the meeting, requesting Disney reconsider its participation in the Human Rights Campaign’s Corporate Equality Index (CEI). The proposal said that companies like the Human Rights Campaign “seek to sow gender confusion in children, encourage irreversible surgical procedures on confused teens, effectively eliminate girls’ and women’s sports and bathrooms, and roll back longstanding religious liberties.” In addition, the proposal said Disney’s perfect score in the CEI was due to a “partisan, divisive, and increasingly racial” agenda and urged the company to remain “neutral” when it came to political matters. In its proxy statement, Disney said the proposal was unnecessary and that it didn’t “believe this proposal would provide additional value to shareholders.” Pride wall photo op by Tiffins and the DVC kiosk In a statement to USA Today, Stefan Padfield, executive director of the National Center for Public Policy Research’s Free Enterprise Project, said: “It is not surprising that our proposal received low support, given the concerns we have about bias and conflicts of interest infecting the votes and recommendations of the Big 5 asset managers and proxy advisors, as well as the company’s management.” This proposal did not pass, receiving only 1% of votes to approve. Cinderella Castle The final shareholder proposal dealt with the selection of ad buyers and sellers, requesting Disney conduct an evaluation on “how it oversees risks related to discrimination against ad buyers and sellers based on their political or religious status or views.” Disney claimed that “an additional Board-level evaluation and report would not be in the best interests of shareholders,” and this proposal also did not pass. Ultimately, three shareholder proposals were discussed, and all three failed to pass. There are still some shareholder votes that need to be counted, but for now, this is how things have shaken out. A mega-popular franchise is coming to McDonald’s as part of the Golden Arches’ latest Happy Meal promotion. ©McDonald’s After dropping several teasers, such as those seen above, on social media, McDonald’s confirmed a promotion to tie into the April 4th release of the highly-anticipated film adaptation A Minecraft Movie. According to the chain, “Starting April 1, for a limited time, McDonald’s is entering the portal for an epic collaboration, and the meals are only the beginning. Fans can also take their creativity to the next level with access to digital experiences, custom-designed collectibles and much more – only at McDonald’s.” The Minecraft Happy Meals will include one of 12, film-inspired figurines or Block World toys. In addition, every Happy Meal comes with “a scannable code to unlock an exclusive digital game where players can complete their very own quest in the A Minecraft Movie world on www.happymeal.com.” ©McDonald’s However, kids aren’t the only ones who get to enjoy the Minecraft-themed meals. There will also be adult-portioned A Minecraft Movie Meals featuring a choice of a Big Mac or 10-pc. Chicken McNuggets, plus medium fries, a drink, and a limited-edition collectible. ©McDonald’s These collectibles are “inspired by some of McDonald’s most beloved characters and menu items, and popular A Minecraft Movie treasures.” Each comes with a matching card and a code that fans can redeem to unlock the corresponding, exclusive skin in the Minecraft Marketplace. The collectibles include the following: Big Mac Crystal – Mined from the sea of special sauce, this precious block derives its radiant shine from melty cheese and a toasty sesame seed bun. Birdie Wings – Keep your eye to the sky or you might miss the early bird soaring high above the clouds with a rare pair of elytra wings. Fry Helmet – Forged from the iconic French Fry box, this enchanted helmet is rumored to protect you from friends stealing your last Fry. Grimace Egg – Emerging from the depths of a purple shake, this magical Grimace mob gets its shape from the most coveted egg of them all. Soda Potion – The electrifying effect of this potion is as mysterious as its recipe: an accidental combo of fantastic fizzy flavors. Zombie Hamburglar – Little is known about this hungry mob who spawns late at night and wanders all biomes in search of hamburgers. The Minecraft Movie Meals purchased through the McDonald’s App will also provide “in-game bonus at no cost. Fans will receive a one-time redeemable code to unlock the McDonald’s Add-On pack in Minecraft, which includes additional components to your gameplay such as McDonaldland characters, builds and tools.” In addition to those meals, McDonald’s will also offer a Nether Flame Sauce, a “limited-edition hot sauce inspired by The Nether – with crushed red pepper and flaming cayenne, balanced with hints of garlic and sweetness.” Jennifer Healan, McDonald’s VP, U.S. Marketing, Brand, Content & Culture, said of the partnership, “When approaching any partnership, we look for the authentic role our brand can play in it. McDonald’s fans had already created a presence in the Minecraft game long before the opportunity to partner with the new film. So, we built upon what they started and created a totally immersive experience, custom A Minecraft Movie Meals in our restaurants, and collectibles that unlock unique in-game features. What’s special about this campaign is that every component will feel recognizable to both fan bases— a true merging of the McDonald’s and Minecraft universes.” ©Merlin ©Minecraft Minecraft, which was first released in 2011, has gone on to become the best-selling video game of all time, with over 300 million copies sold and nearly 170 million monthly active players as of 2024. In addition, the game has received critical acclaim, earning numerous awards and being cited as one of the “greatest video games of all time.” ©Warner Bros. In the lead to the release of A Minecraft Movie on April 4th, McDonald’s is launching a Minecraft tie-in on April 1st, featuring both Happy Meals and collectibles for adults. The Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin Resort is going through a transformation of its own — and part of it has officially been completed! Swan and Dolphin Hotel The Marriott-owned hotels previously announced a $275 million transformation featuring a new 120,000-square-foot event space expansion, along with upgrades to its existing space, and guest room renovations. While many of these renovations are still in the works, the guest room renovations are now complete and we’re sharing a peek! It’s official! The Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin has completed the renovation of all 756 guest rooms in the Swan hotel with a sleek, modern design that will allow “guests to leave the everyday behind and enter a world of wonder.” These hotels are located in the EPCOT resort area, between the Yacht Club and the BoardWalk, and are owned by Marriott — but they get many of the same perks that Disney World’s Deluxe Resorts get. ©Marriott The new rooms exude a fresh, warm, and inviting ambiance featuring white-oak luxury tile flooring complemented by a rich hand-tufted rug, while crisp white walls accented by a tranquil blue feature wall instill a sense of calm. ©Marriott The beds feature a wooden headboard with white upholstery, with plenty of room for storage underneath, too. The entire renovation project at the Swan and Dolphin will take place over the next several years, and will include “modernized upgrades to existing meeting spaces and Swan guest rooms.” There will also be some technology enhancements throughout the property. ©Marriott The expansion will bring the Swan and Dolphin’s total meeting space to 469,000 square feet between its three buildings — the Swan, Dolphin, and Swan Reserve. Add in the already 2,619 hotel rooms, and that will make this property one of the biggest convention spaces on the East Coast. ©Marriott “We look forward to delivering such a major transformation for our customers. These enhancements will be a great addition to our iconic and award-winning operation,” said Area General Manager Sean Verney. “It positions our property to remain at the forefront of meeting and convention venues globally.” ©Marriott As far as the meeting space expansion goes, it will include a new two-story annex. It will have 41,000 square feet of multi-purpose space and 24,000 square feet of additional pre-function space, all connected to the building’s original convention space. The second floor will have a new ballroom, as well as a foyer. Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin at night We can’t wait to see what these renovations look like when they’re all finally complete!
