  1. It is always a bit disappointing when you are heading for a ride only to get there and realize it is temporarily closed. Maybe you walked across the park for it, or you gave up prime seating to make your way over. Or it took your family forever to decide what ride to do next, and now you have to choose all over. What if there was a way to avoid the disappointment in the first place? Seven Dwarfs Mine Train entrance If you were in the parks this morning, quite a few attractions were temporarily closed. Around 9:30AM, six attractions were listed as closed on the My Disney Experience app. The good news is that by 12PM, it was down to only three attractions. However, we want to ensure you know about the My Disney Experience app and all the information it holds for your Disney World trip! Ride closures happen a fair amount at Disney World, but with the My Disney Experience app, you can avoid some of the disappointment of a ride being temporarily closed. If you are heading to Disney World soon, you will want to have the My Disney Experience app downloaded. On the app, you can navigate to the wait times section to see wait times for all the attractions. If you scroll all the way to the bottom, you will find any rides that are temporarily closed. ©Disney You can also see when attractions are closed on the map view. If an attraction is temporarily closed, you will see a star instead of a wait time. The My Disney Experience app is also a great tool for knowing when a ride has reopened! The star will disappear, and you will see a wait time for the attraction. No more having to “swing by” to see if an attraction has reopened, you can see it all on the app! ©Disney In addition to viewing wait times and attraction closures, you can also view times for character meet and greets, join virtual queues, find restrooms and PhotoPass spots, Mobile Order food, join walk-up lists for table service restaurants, check out at select merchandise stores on your phone, view times for entertainment, and so much more. There really is a wealth of knowledge inside the My Disney Experience app, and we highly recommend downloading it ahead of time and playing around with it so you are familiar with the app. Mobile order The app definitely packs A LOT in there, but the good news is that we have a complete guide to everything you need to know about the My Disney Experience app! 2. We are here, yet again, to sing the praises of Gideon’s Bakehouse at Disney World. Look at her! But, what you might not realize is that the Disney Springs location isn’t the first! Gideon’s Bakehouse opened at Orlando’s East End Market long before coming to Disney World. And now, the owner of Gideon’s Bakehouse has announced a NEW concept opening soon! Gideon’s Bakehouse is introducing a new concept and it opens soon! Stuart & Bonnie’s food truck will make its debut on Sunday at Orlando’s East End Market, located at 3201 Corrine Drive. But, don’t expect the spooky and macabre vibes — or the two-pound cookies — of the OG Gideon’s! ©Stuart & Bonnie’s Instead, you’ll find bright colors and all things lemon and orange. The name comes from two of the first Gideon’s characters to be released with cookies. Stuart Valencia was released with the limited-edition Orange Pecan Chocolate Chip, while Bonnie Brae came with the Lemon Poppyseed Cookie. Thus, Stuart & Bonnie’s was born. Lemon Poppyseed Cookie Steve Lewis, owner of Gideon’s Bakehouse, described it as, “It’s Old Florida meets European sensibilities: Southern icebox tarts and sophisticated Euro-style things.” You can expect treats like a gelato sandwich, and icebox tart, and more, plus cold brews, tea, and house-made orange soda. Check out the menu for the opening weekend below: ©Stuart & Bonnie’s But, there won’t be another Gideon’s Bakehouse location opening anytime soon. According to Lewis, the concept just isn’t scalable. “What we do is too hard,” he said. “Something like Stuart & Bonnie’s is a way for Gideon’s to grow without sacrificing what we do.” Orange Pecan Cookie If you want to check this new spot out, make sure you head to the East End Market on Sunday! Stuart & Bonnie’s will be open from noon to sellout, plus you’ll get the chance to take home some buttons, magnets, stickers, and more merch — and you just might see us there! 3. You have boarded your flight and made it to your seat. Yay! You are one step closer to starting your vacation! Time to fly! What is even more exciting is that the flight attendant just closed the plane door, and as it turns out, there is no one in the middle seat next to you! Score! That means you can enjoy your travel day without the awkwardness of having a stranger in your space for the duration of your flight, but believe it or not, there are some unwritten rules about that empty middle seat next to you. We know it sounds kind of silly, considering that it is not your seat, nor is it the seat of the other person in your row, but still, it is a moral thing that people do think about. So what is really fair? Obviously, if you have the entire row to yourself, it is free real estate, so do what you want. Who cares? Put your personal item under any seat you wish to, but when you have someone else in the row with you and the middle seat is open, there are unwritten rules about what is “allowed.” Southwest Cabin Don’t Put Your Personal Item Under the Middle Seat Although it would be nice to get the extra legroom, it would not be fair for your personal item to go under the middle seat. This rule could be nulled if the other person in your row does not have an item under their seat or vice versa, but it is best to be fair and keep your stuff under your seat. Airplane Feel Free to Place Small Items on the Middle Seat The middle seat is open, so you might as well use it! It can be nice to place your headphones, glasses, book, iPad, or other small items on, especially as you get situated. As long as you leave space for the other person, it should be fine. American Airlines Plane Communicate It never hurts to communicate with your seatmate! Let’s say you want to get some work done, and you want to use the middle seat tray table and your tray table. It may not seem like a big deal to just go for it, but asking your seatmate can go a long way in helping ease any tension. We know it sounds silly, but hey, you have to be next to this person for however long your flight is, so you might as well give the common courtesy and ask. Southwest Airlines Spread Out and Relax One of the best parts about the middle seat being open is that you get to use two armrests! Generally, the person in the middle seat gets two armrests since they are stuck in the middle, but since there is no one in the middle, both the person sitting in the aisle seat and the window seat can take advantage and use two armrests. Southwest Plane Cabin As we said, there is no handbook for empty middle seat etiquette, but the next time you have an open middle seat on a flight, remember these unwritten rules! 4. Is this the travel update we’ve been waiting for? Let’s go flying! We spend a lot of time traveling while we work on creating the ultimate planning guide for Disney World, so it’s safe to say we’ve had our fair share of travel mishaps. But this new update might help alleviate some of our biggest travel stress. Delta recently announced something that we have genuinely been waiting on for what feels like forever! Thanks to Apple’s new “Share Item Location” feature, Delta can now track your Apple AirTag. ©Getty Images So what does this mean for you? Well, remember all the times you’ve lost your luggage in the airport after traveling for 15 hours due to lack of sleep and food? That is hopefully a thing of the past! That’s not to say your luggage won’t be lost or misplaced anymore, but now that Delta can track your AirTag (and so can you), they can track your bags more quickly and accurately. Your luggage can be easily found now! This offers more peace of mind, so even if your bag isn’t in your hands, you know where it’s located at all times. We have been in positions where our luggage was lost on the way to our vacation, so we know what it feels like when you have no idea where in the world your things ended up. While Apple AirTags aren’t the most inexpensive item, we truly have found comfort in having them in our bags, carry-ons, and even on our car keys! ©Amazon How does it work? To share your AirTag, go to the Find My app on your iPhone, iPad, or Mac and generate a Share Item link. Then, if your bag becomes lost, you can add that link to the delayed bag form on the Fly Delta app. If you can’t find the form, no worries. You can also send it to customer service on the messaging feature within the app. The sharing is ended once your bag is located so you can have peace of mind. ©Delta Between the holiday travel crowds and the pressure of travel in general, we are super excited to see this offered by Delta. Hopefully, other airlines will offer this soon, and we can avoid lost luggage forever! Okay, maybe not forever, but let us dream. 5. Packing for a trip to Disney World can be a pain, especially when it feels like you have tried all the different gadgets that are meant to make your journey easier. Suitcases at Disney World We go to Disney World every day, and our team has become packing pros, so we have learned a thing or two about what works and what does not work when it comes to packing for travel and packing your park day bag. Learn from our mistakes, and don’t fall for these packing must-haves; instead, use these alternatives! DISCLOSURE: This post may contain affiliate links, meaning when you click the links and make a purchase, we receive a commission. Sometimes, we like to be super prepared for everything, but in reality, it can end up making our suitcases and park bags heavier. Here are six packing alternatives to help make your next trip to Disney World a bit easier! Luggage When traveling, it is always a good idea to stay hydrated throughout your journey, and the same goes for once you arrive at Disney World. While large water bottles are super popular since they hold a lot of liquid, they can be bulky and heavy. Instead, we recommend bringing a DFB reporter tried and true water bottle. Our reporters love their Owala Water Bottles. Plus, you can fill them up for free around the parks and resorts by getting cups of ice water at quick service locations or by using the My Disney Experience app to locate water bottle refill stations. Owala Water Bottle View on Amazon When traveling, you will most likely use your phone quite a bit for entertainment, which can drain your phone battery. Sometimes, we find ourselves guilty of packing multiple portable chargers with us, but at the end of the day, this weighs down your luggage. Instead you only really need one portable charger, we like to travel with this INIU Portable Charger because it is lightweight and has multiple charging ports. INIU Portable Charger View on Amazon Suppose you are worried about your phone battery draining once you arrive at Disney World due to using the My Disney Experience App. In that case, it is a good idea to order a FuelRod ahead of time, as FuelRods can be swapped for free at FuelRod stations throughout the parks and resorts. Plus, FuelRods are small and can fit easily in your park bag! FuelRod View on Amazon Speaking of park bags, it can be easy to want to bring a super large park bag to fit everything you might need in one bag, but by the end of the day, your feet and back will be crying from carrying such a heavy load. We like to carry a park bag that will fit our essentials, like this Crossbody Sling Bag! It is lightweight, water-resistant, and comes in a variety of colors! It can fit all your park day essentials! View on Amazon If you are looking for a classic Disney park bag, then you might want to consider packing a Loungefly backpack like this Disney Stickers Loungfly Backpack! It features the Sensational Six and will fit all your park day essentials. Stickers Loungefly View on Amazon While a traditional Loungefly backpack typically has minimal pouches, if you are looking to keep your bag a little more organized, we would love to use this Loungefly Bag Organizer; it is a serious game-changer. Loungefly Bag Organizer View on Amazon If you are worried about needing to bring more with you but don’t want to carry it, you can always rent a locker at all four of the parks! It is great if you also buy souvenirs throughout the day that you don’t want to carry! Disney World locker rentals It is always a good idea to carry snacks while traveling and in the parks, but sometimes snacks can get smashed, and no one wants to deal with the mess of eating crushed crackers! We like to carry our snacks in a snack container; that way, we do not have to worry about our snacks getting crushed or smashed; plus, this Whiskware Snack Container comes with different compartments, and you can get it in different Disney Princess styles. ©Amazon View on Amazon We have all gotten creative at some point, trying to get our phones to stand up so we can watch a movie while traveling, and sometimes, we just give up because we can’t get our phones to stay. Don’t let this be you! We like this Tripod Stand to hold our phones while we are traveling as it can bend to hold to different surfaces. Plus, you can attach it to your stroller once you get to the parks at Disney World! ©Amazon View on Amazon It is no secret that it gets hot and rainy during the summer months in Central Florida. While you can bring big umbrellas with you, they can be hard to pack and hard to carry throughout the parks. Instead, we like to carry this packable UV Umbrella as it is small and protects us from the sun and light rain showers. UV Umbrella View on Amazon Packing for Disney World is a science, and hopefully, these packing tips can help make your trip easier! 6. We talk about Disney World food and rides pretty frequently, but what about the entertainment? Spaceship Earth People miss out on many great entertainment offerings throughout the parks because they’re too busy running to the next thrill ride. From live singers and music groups to dance shows, there are plenty of fun ways to enjoy your favorite characters and stories on stage…and now there’s a new permanent entertainment offering to add to the list! So if you’ve got an Encanto lover in your family hoping to see this show in 2025, don’t miss out! You can find showtimes in the My Disney Experience app daily to plan your visit. Keep in mind that the show is outdoors, so it may be performed weather-permitting. We’ve seen them move the show inside CommuniCore Hall in the past during rain, but this may not be as feasible during a festival when that space is taken. The show indoors during the rain. 7. Disney World isn’t just for us common folk — celebrities seem to love it, too! Cinderella Castle You just never know when you might run into when you’re at the Most Magical Place on Earth. We’ve seen Star Wars icons, music stars, and even award-winning actors. As it turns out, a Disney celebrity recently announced he’d be coming to Orlando soon and we’ve got all the info! Josh Gad is arguably one of the biggest Disney stars of the last decade, and now he’s ready to tell us all about his life in a new autobiography! In Gad We Trust will be released in January 2025, and to celebrate, the icon is going on a book tour that includes Orlando. via Josh Gad on Instagram Gad will be hosting an event at the Dr. Phillips Center for Performing Arts in Orlando on January 21st! His storytelling will be sure to bring a smile to your face and leave you feeling inspired to keep going, even when the chips and doubters are stacked against you. We promise you won’t want to miss this one-of-a-kind event!” Josh Gad posted this Instagram selfie at the World of Frozen in Hong Kong Disneyland The actor wrote of the book, “I am thrilled to announce that I too am staying in the race and by race, I mean publishing my memoir, IN GAD WE TRUST, which you can pre-order now ahead of its January ’25 release. In the age of book banning, it felt like the right time to test the waters and release something that will resonate with readers who are still allowed to read literature in 2025. From the highs and lows of my career to the personal moments that shaped me, this book is a deeply personal look into my life and experiences.” @JoshGad Instagram In the meantime, we’ll keep an eye out for more potential celebrity sightings in Disney World! Josh Gad seems to love Disney just as much as we do, so we have a pretty good feeling he’d be planning to stop by. 8. 2025 is gearing up to be a massive year at Disney World as construction and closures are set to hit all four theme parks. Hollywood Studios Hollywood Studios has seen its fair share of changes over the past years with the addition of Toy Story Land along with Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, and soon it will be home to even more new offerings, two of which are set to open in the new year! There are three game-changing updates set to hit Hollywood Studios in 2025, with a fourth update on the horizon. Hollywood Studios is no stranger to entertainment, and you can find live entertainment throughout the park, including Indiana Jones Epic Stunt Spectacular, Beauty and the Beast – Live on Stage, For the First Time in Forever: A Frozen Sing-Along Celebration, and Fantasmic! Soon, Hollywood Studios will be home to two brand new shows coming this summer! Beauty and the Beast — Live on Stage Disney Villains: Unfairly Ever After In October of 2024, Lightning McQueen’s Racing Academy closed to make way for a brand new Disney Villains stage show called “Disney Villains: Unfairly Ever After.” That’s right, the villains are not only coming to Magic Kingdom, but they are also making their way to Hollywood Studios! ©Disney The show is set to have some of your favorite Disney Villains like Captain Hook, Maleficent, and Cruella De Vil. They will transform the stage into the “mysterious, reflective realm of the Magic Mirror.” They will perform live production music and dances. ©Disney The Little Mermaid – A Musical Adventure When the parks re-opened after the pandemic, “Voyage of the Little Mermaid” never re-opened at Hollywood Studios, but by the end of 2023, Disney announced that a new show would take its place. The new show, titled “The Little Mermaid – A Musical Adventure,” would debut in the winter of 2024 in the same building. Unfortunately, the date was pushed back, but the good news is that the show will officially open this upcoming summer! The Little Mermaid: A Musical Adventure This new show will use a combination of live actors, puppets, digital animation, and live motion capture to replicate the show’s underwater setting. Plus, the show will have two songs that weren’t included in the previous show: “Daughters of Triton” and “Kiss the Girl.” The Little Mermaid: A Musical Adventure The Closing of Muppets Courtyard Now we know that this one might not be a super exciting game-changer to everyone, but it was confirmed that Muppets Courtyard would close to make way for the brand new Monsters, Inc. Land. No exact closing date has been announced, but construction on this new land is planned to start in 2025, which means at least parts, if not all, of Muppets Courtyard will eventually close in the new year. Muppets Courtyard in Hollywood Studios We will make sure to keep an eye out for any news regarding an exact date to make sure you get to give Muppets Courtyard a proper farewell. Muppet*Vision 3D While the Muppets may be getting evicted from Muppets Courtyard, they are not getting evicted from Hollywood Studios. Remember that other game-changer we mentioned? While it is confirmed that the Muppets will be taking over Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster, we just do not know precisely when they will be moving in. There is a chance that construction could start in 2025, but there is also a good chance that Disney will wait on this project as Monsters, Inc. Land will take some time to build, but we will just have to wait and see! ©Disney While change can be scary, it is so exciting to think about all the new and exciting projects on the horizon at Disney World. It can be hard to keep up with all of Disney’s latest announcements, and that is why we are here, so make sure to continue to follow along with Disney Food Blog so you never miss out on the latest Disney news! 10. Sometimes, things don’t always go as planned in Disney World. Monorail For example, sometimes your favorite ride might be closed, either for refurbishment or a temporary closure due to a technical issue. Sometimes the unpredictable Florida weather can mean rain that comes out of nowhere and closes down all the outdoor rides. Sometimes it’s so hot that your ice cream melts before you can eat it. Well, sometimes the problem is with Disney World’s transportation system, including the Monorail. We’re going to tell you how to keep a Monorail closure from derailing your day. So, let’s just say you get to the Transportation and Ticket Center, you’ve parked your car, and you’re ready to take the Monorail to Magic Kingdom (because, as you may or may not know, you can’t drive DIRECTLY to Magic Kingdom — it’s just a THING). BUT the Express Monorail to Magic Kingdom isn’t open — maybe it’s closed due to a technical issue. Okay, so this just happened to us recently. Monorail At the time, a Cast Member told us that Disney was just doing some maintenance on the Monorail. We also learned that the Resort and EPCOT Monorail lines were still running. But we still needed to get to Magic Kingdom. So how do you get to Magic Kingdom without the Monorail? Well, you get to take the scenic route and take a ferry boat (honestly, we kinda’ prefer this method of transportation sometimes). Express Monorail closed We did wait around to see what would happen and noticed Cast Members taking down the stanchions. We also noticed the Gold Monorail pulling into the Express gate. We were then told that the Monorail was going through some testing because some of the gates at the stations weren’t functioning properly. Gold Monorail pulling in But, yes, if this happens to you, don’t worry. You can still get to Magic Kingdom via the Ferryboat. However, this does mean that the Ferryboat will probably be more crowded than normal. 11. When it comes to food here at DFB, we’re not ones to discriminate. McDonald’s Happy Meal So, when we hear about a new restaurant concept opening from a familiar favorite, well, we get pretty darn excited. Last year, we checked out the new CosMc’s concept from McDonald’s, and now, it looks like another fast food giant is introducing a new spin on their iconic items. Dipping sauces are having their moment in the food world right now — especially with the rise in popularity of chicken tenders these days. And, things are about to get a whole lot saucier because KFC is introducing a new fast food concept: Saucy. ©Saucy by KFC Saucy is opening on Monday, December 23rd, in Orlando — just minutes away from Disney World and is a “flavor-forward dining destination offering chicken tender lovers the chance to dip, dunk and customize their meal with 11 irresistible sauces.” KFC Chief New Concept Officer, Christophe Poirier, said, “Everyone is obsessed with sauce – more is more. With Saucy, we’ve taken KFC’s famous Original Recipe® and amplified it with a brand-new concept that lets consumers play with flavor. You can pick a combo, choose a flight of sauces or, my personal favorite, mix sauces and sides to create your perfect meal. We’re sauce people, not math people, but we tried to calculate it and there seems to be over 4,000 different ways you could order at Saucy and have a different flavor experience every time.” ©Saucy by KFC Sauces and tenders can be paired with toasted Hawaiian rolls, crinkle cut fries and coleslaw, and there will also be a selection of sandwiches and various drink combinations. ©Saucy by KFC In Orlando, Saucy debuts with 11 signature sauces – the number being a playful nod to the 11 herbs & spices in KFC’s Original Recipe: Chimichurri Ranch Peri Peri Ranch Jalapeno Pesto Ranch Smokey Bacon Ranch Thai Sweet ‘N Spicy Sweet ‘N Saucy BBQ Saucy’s Sauce Spicy Mango Chutney Saucy Ranch Creole Honey Mustard Sweet Teriyaki ©Saucy by KFC You can find Saucy at 502 South Alafaya Trail, Orlando, FL 32828. Current hours are listed below. It sounds like there’s a new late-night spot to get some grub after a day in the parks! Sunday – Wednesday: 10AM to 2AM Thursday – Saturday: 10AM to 3AM ©Saucy by KFC In the meantime, we’ll be on the lookout for the latest fast food news you can use along with everything you need to know from Disney World! 12. Okay, we’re starting to get a little intimidated by how close 2025 is getting. Hollywood Studios We’re just a few short weeks away from the new year starting, and we already know that a LOT is happening in Disney World right at the start of the new year. With loads of construction and changes on the way for the resort, the new year will be kicking off with a bang as those changes start to take place. If you’re planning to visit Disney World in January, there are a total of SIX ride closures you need to know about! Magic Kingdom TWO ride closures are hitting Magic Kingdom at the beginning of the month. The first we’ve known about for a few weeks now — Big Thunder Mountain Railroad will be closing for at LEAST a year-long closure on January 6th and will be reopening in 2026 with some extra magic changes. We don’t know what those will be yet, but we’re excited! Big Thunder Mountain Railroad The second closure was just announced recently — Astro Orbiter will be closing in Tomorrowland on January 13th and won’t be reopening until Summer 2025. This will bring an already popular land in the park down an attraction, which will likely increase wait times for other attractions around the area. Astro Orbiter Finally, later in January, the Hall of Presidents will be closing. The refurbishment begins on January 20th and there is currently no end date. Hall of Presidents EPCOT Test Track will remain closed throughout January as it moves towards its rethemed/refurbished opening coming in late Summer 2025. We’re really looking forward to seeing what the new iteration of this ride will look like, but we half wish Summer would just get here already! Test Track construction Recently, it was just announced that Gran Fiesta Tour, located in the Mexico Pavilion, will be closing on January 13th for a two-month long closure! Gran Fiesta Tour starring The Three Caballeros The ride is currently scheduled to reopen on March 15th, but that reopening date could move up or be pushed back at any time. Animal Kingdom Animal Kingdom is the only park that has a ride closing for good and will then be demolished. January 13th will be a sad day because it’ll be the day TriceraTop Spin is no more in DinoLand U.S.A. TriceraTop Spin Kali River Rapids will also be temporarily closing on January 6th. While we don’t have an exact reopening date for this ride just yet, this isn’t uncommon. This ride typically closes in the winter for a short period of time to undergo regular maintenance during the colder winter months. Kali River Rapids It’ll certainly be an interesting way to start 2025, but Disney’s Hollywood Studios is so far unaffected for the beginning of the new year, so this will be where you’ll likely see the fewest construction walls up and rides closed. It was recently announced that a Bluey movie is in the works at Disney+, and it looks like that’s not the only new Bluey content we’ll be getting from Disney! THIS IS NOT A DRILL! There will be special meet-and-greets and an interactive and “clue-filled” game that ends in a dance party. As of now, details on how we’ll be able to meet Bluey and her family at Disney World and Disneyland have yet to be revealed, but Disney said they’ll provide more information “in the months ahead.” @Boardwalk Times The announcement comes as part of a major expansion of Disney’s relationship with BBC Studios for Bluey. The new deal includes the global theatrical rights for the recently announced film, set to premiere in 2027. Following the theatrical release, the movie will stream on Disney+. The movie will also air on ABC iview and ABC Kids in Australia post-theatrical release. ©Bluey.tv Regarding this new endeavor, Josh D’Amaro, Chairman, Disney Experiences said, “Bluey has become a household name for families around the world and we are thrilled to bring her story to life in new ways. 14. The holidays are some of the most wonderful (and stressful) times of the year. Happy Holidays from Magic Kingdom! In Disney World, we like to keep busy with the Festival of the Holidays, Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party, and Jollywood Nights for our holiday fun. Fun being the important word here because we are all about removing stress from the holidays, and we have found the perfect way to do it. DISCLOSURE: This post may contain affiliate links, meaning when you click the links and make a purchase, we receive a commission. When it comes to the holidays, we love spending time with family and friends, watching our favorite classic movies, and enjoying our favorite sweets and treats. While we might love cooking (and eating) our holiday faves, we don’t love the shopping rush. We love holiday desserts! The build-up to the holidays is what’s so stressful. Going to the grocery store during the week of Christmas is what nightmares are made of! The crowds, the long lines, and worrying about what’s in and out of stock can be too much to handle, and it makes enjoying the week that much harder. That’s why Kroger Grocery Delivery is the unsung hero of Christmas. Kroger Delivery! Avoiding the store has never been easier, thanks to Kroger’s Delivery service. This is something we’ve used while staying in Disney World, and now it’s helping our Christmas cooking be even merrier. All it takes is simply filling your cart up on the Kroger app or their website, requesting the delivery, and watching out for your delivery. ©Kroger It’s basically like Santa coming early and dropping off the gift of groceries. Unlike Saint Nick, there is a small fee of $9.95, but that’s a low price for comfort. You can also get a Kroger Boost Membership, which gives you free deliveries. Brought right to you! There is nothing better than beating those early morning crowds in the grocery store, all while getting everything you need. Not having Christmas at home? No worries! Just have your groceries brought to Disney, too. Hollywood Studios holiday crowds The crowds in Disney World are no joke, especially during the holidays. One of our favorite tips for beating the crowds in Disney is having a quick breakfast before heading to the parks for rope drop, and Kroger Delivery makes that even easier. There may not be a Kroger grocery store in Central Florida, but they’ll bring your groceries right to your Disney World hotel so you can enjoy the holidays and beat the crowds with ease. All the groceries! Whether you’re on a Disney vacation or just treating yourself to a week of ease, Kroger is the way to go. 16. Another day, another Disney World snack review! SO MANY SNACKS It’s no secret that Disney World is home to some seriously stellar eats and treats, and anytime we get the chance to try a new one, we jump at it! With the holiday season officially in full swing, we’ve been checking out all sorts of snacks around the parks and hotels. And now, we’re checking out a new dessert that’s popped up at a recently opened restaurant! We stopped by The Cake Bake Shop by Gwendolyn Rogers at Disney’s BoardWalk to try a new treat! The Snickerdoodle Cheesecake Bar is made with snickerdoodle cookie crust topped with our signature cream cheese filling, sprinkled with cinnamon sugar, and crumbled snickerdoodle cookie dough — and it’s a whopping $13.99. Ain’t she a beaut? It is so delicious — the base is nice and cookie-like, then you have the cheesecake filling, and you’ve also got a cinnamon-streusel topping. The flavors all work together really well and the dessert is not too overwhelmingly sweet. The cheesecake is creamy and thick and has a nice strong cream cheese flavor to it. Lots of cheesecake We do think this is better when it is freshly chilled — which it how it comes straight out of the bakery case — than it is after it sits a little bit, especially if you’re sitting outside in the sun when it warms up. Things tend to get a little mushy if you let it sit. Overall, it’s really delicious and we would recommend it as a snack based on flavor alone, but at $14, that price tag is a lot to pay for one bar. It’s certainly large enough to share with others, which does make the price sting a little less. That, and the fact that this cheesecake bar is straight-up delicious. YUM In the meantime, we’ll be on the hunt for the latest and greatest snacks to check out in Disney World and beyond! 19. We set sail on Disney’s newest cruise ship, and we have so much to share! Disney Treasure Cruise Ship Thanks to a media preview, we got to hop aboard the Disney Treasure and check out everything it has to offer. From entertainment to dining to staterooms, we had an absolute blast on the newest cruise ship. And now, we’re here to give you a FULL TOUR of some of the staterooms onboard. Inside Stateroom Starting with the simplest room category, we have the inside stateroom. These come without portholes or balconies and are the smallest of the rooms. The inside stateroom that we checked out was Aladdin themed! Inside Stateroom Close to the door, there’s a seating area with a pull-out couch. It comes with a small end table that can be easily moved around to accommodate your needs. You can section off this half of the room from the bedroom with a curtain. Couch area The artwork hanging above the couch here is a nod to Agrabah — a full map of the kingdom, as seen in the animated movie! Artwork In the bedroom area, there’s a queen bed with another stunning piece of Aladdin artwork hanging above it. The room’s TV is mounted on the wall in here, so you could watch from the bed or from the couch. Bed There’s a decent amount of storage underneath the bed, so you can slide your suitcases underneath once you unpack. Or, if you prefer, keep them packed and just slide them in and out each day. Underneath the bed Next to each side of the bed, you’ll find an individual lamp, as well as lighting controls for the room. They’ve also got some outlets for you to charge your devices. Outlets Of course, we can’t forget about the main storage in the room! There’s a fairly large wardrobe/closet setup, as well as some open shelves and drawers. The vanity comes with a big mirror and a stool, so you can sit here and get ready while the bathroom is occupied. Storage One of the drawers opens to reveal a mini fridge. There’s not a lot of storage in here, but it’s a good size for keeping beverages cold in your room. In the fridge Inside the wardrobe, you’ll find your room’s supply of life jackets, as well as your ironing board, clothes hangers, and the safe. It’s not a massive amount of storage, but it’s pretty decent for a cruise ship. Inside the wardrobe And of course, we’ve got to show you an up-close shot of that stunning Aladdin art above the bed! Jasmine and Aladdin are pictured flying over the city on the magic carpet — a fitting photo since they’re featured in the Disney Treasure atrium. More artwork But what about the most important part…the bathroom? Well, these inside staterooms come with bathrooms complete with sink, toilet, and a shower/tub combo. They’re stocked with towels and basic toiletries. Bathroom The mirror lights up around the edges, and the vanity even has space for storing your personal items (which is more than some cruise ships we’ve been on!). Vanity Disney-branded hand and bath soaps will be left available for your stateroom. Toiletries The bathrooms also come with lotion, hair dryers, and towels. If you need more items, you can call and request them. Storage And that’s a wrap on the inside stateroom! Deluxe Oceanview Stateroom So what about those who want to level up a little bit? Well, we’re taking you on a tour of the oceanview stateroom next! This room that we were able to visit was Pocahontas themed. In this setup, the bedroom area is near the door, with the seating area over by the porthole. Ocean View Room This seating area also comes with a pull-out couch, movable end table, and curtain divider. The vanity and bookshelf storage is separate from the closet and on this side of the room in the oceanview layout, though. Seating area Each of these rooms comes with a large porthole, which will provide you ocean views throughout your journey! You can cover the porthole with the blackout curtains during the evening or naptime. The view! And of course, there are plenty of Disney touches, like this artwork of Pocahontas’s tribe. Pocahontas artwork The bathrooms in these rooms are the same as those in the verandah staterooms. You get a toilet, shower/tub and vanity with light-up mirror. Bathroom Each bathroom comes stocked with basic soaps and towels. Gotta love that sea salt bath soap! Soap The shower has a removable showerhead, towel bars, and a clothes line for hanging up those wet swimsuits after a day at the pool. Shower/tub combo And for bath products, you’ll be stocked with shampoo, conditioner, and body wash. Totally not H2O products So there you have it — a full tour of the oceanview and inside staterooms on the Disney Treasure! 20. There are quite literally dozens of places to eat in EPCOT, so it can be hard to choose where to dine during your visit! Spaceship Earth at EPCOT Are you in the mood for Italian? French food? American BBQ? They’ve got it all! But if you’re hoping to eat in one particular World Showcase Pavilion, your options will be a little limited…and there’s an interesting reason why. The Morocco Pavilion has been a little low on dining offerings ever since the pandemic. Previously, you could dine at Restaurant Marrakesh, Spice Road Table, or Tangierine Cafe in the pre-2020 days. Morocco Restaurant But since the park reopened, Tangierine Cafe has mostly been used as a festival booth (with some light options in between festivals), and Restaurant Marrakesh has been “closed,” leaving Spice Road Table as the main offering. But why hasn’t Restaurant Marrakesh returned when so many other table service spots have? Restaurant Marrakesh For the past few years, Restaurant Marrakesh has been open sparingly, but only as a lounge…and not the kind that you eat in! We’ve seen it open during the International Food & Wine Festival as a lounge for Florida Blue members, and then again open occasionally in the spring for Annual Passholders exclusively. Florida Blue Lounge inside Restaurant Marrakesh During the times when the lounge is open, it usually offers complimentary light refreshments, and sometimes a fun activity or character meet. But it’s rarely crowded during the times that it’s open because it’s so tucked away and hidden in the back of the pavilion. Restaurant Marrakesh as the Florida Blue Lounge When Restaurant Marrakesh was operating as an actual restaurant a few years ago, it served Moroccan fare and even offered entertainment in the form of a belly dancer. It was a really unique dining experience in the park, and we’re definitely sad that we haven’t been able to experience it since! Belly Dancer So if you’re hoping to dine at Restaurant Marrakesh during your next trip, you might be out of luck. Disney hasn’t shared any information about it possibly reopening in the future, so we’ll just have to wait and see if it ever returns to what we loved before. Bluey and Bingo The series is incredibly popular globally thanks to the show’s characters, new “minisodes“, merchandise, and more. It was recently announced that a Bluey movie is in the works, and the show’s creator has shared his thoughts on it. It’s official — a Bluey movie is officially happening! The first-ever animated feature film for this adorable little pup is expected to hit theaters in 2027 before it eventually ends up on Disney+. ©Bluey The movie will be written and directed by Joe Brumm, the creator of the original show. The movie continues Bluey’s adventures of growing up and living with her Mom, Dad, and sister, Bingo. The original voice actors will be back as well! In the wake of the movie announcement, the show’s creator, Joe Brumm, has penned a letter to share some news — some good, and some “trifficult.” The good news, of course, is the Bluey movie announcement. ©Bluey The bad news is that Brumm has announced he will be taking a break from his involvement in the television series. The recent, longer episode of the show that just aired — “The Sign” — will mark Brumm’s TV finale for the show unless he decides to come back after this break. He shared, “I always said I wouldn’t keep making the show if I thought I couldn’t make any new season as good as the last,” and that would have been the case with a potential season four had he continued working. ©Disney Brumm continued, “Bluey has completely changed my life. It’s been an immensely satisfying thing to be a part of, more than I can really put into words. To walk away from it while it’s at such a height will seem crazy to some but, for now, I am finding it difficult to reach back genuinely into that four to six-year-old world and write authentically.” He reiterated that this was NOT an announcement about the end of the show — Bluey lives on! But, he will be focusing on the movie in the interim while the television crew will continue making excellent content. ©Disney The movie comes off the back of Bluey being the most-watched series on Disney+ globally with more than 50.5 billion minutes watched on the streaming service, according to Disney. We are super excited to see this little cattle dog on the big screen in 2027! As always, keep following the Disney Food Blog for your latest Disney movie news and updates. 22. Disney Imagineers are the best of the best creative geniuses around. ©Disney With innovative technology, not only can you be riding on the back of a banshee on a different planet, but you can also blast off to other galaxies, learn about the life cycle of a plant, and so much more. It looks like more Disney innovation is on its way because a new ride technology patent has been filed! While we already know that a whole lot of exciting changes are in store for Disney World over the next few years, it seems like the House of Mouse is wasting no time on coming up with new ride technology. According to the Orlando Business Journal, Disney has filed a patent for a “rider-controlled amusement park ride” that utilizes a “force sensor” within the vehicle. Magic Kingdom Essentially, riders would activate the sensor by leaning forward or putting pressure on it, and a “motion control system would adjust the vehicle’s position in real-time based on the input.” Based on the way a passenger moves, the sensor and ride would react accordingly. Animal Kingdom If you lean to the side, the ride vehicle may also head in that direction. Apply more pressure to the sensor and you might speed up or change motion. Real-time control like this isn’t something we’ve typically seen on amusement rides, but it could make them more engaging and personalized — causing riders to want to come back. Disney’s Hollywood Studios Here’s a look at what the system would potentially look like, according to Disney’s permit. As you can see, there’s a passenger area with a sensor attached to a large arm and track module. There’s no indication what this ride vehicle may actually be for at this point, but we’ll be keeping an eye on any future updates. ©Disney Disney isn’t the only theme park giant filing new patents these days. Universal has filed a patent for a “round ride system” with a central wheel and multiple spokes with ride vehicles attached to them. With this ride vehicle, there are two drive systems: one that rotates the center wheel and another that moves the spokes independently. Universal Studios Universal is also developing tech for “real-time proximity operation and object handoff,” which is a system designed for movement of bigger show elements during live shows and attractions. This would allow a prop or video screen to transfer between platforms or robotic arms. ©Universal While Disney and Universal haven’t made any sort of announcements about these patents and they may never actually come to fruition, we’ll be sure to keep an eye out for any potential updates. 23. Cake lovers, brace yourselves. Amorette’s Patisserie spread Disney World is known for its over-the-top treats, but when it comes to cake slices, we found a few that are downright controversial – both in terms of price and experience. We decided to hit up some of Disney World’s most popular spots to see if these high-priced desserts are worth the hype. From jaw-dropping designs to flavor-packed layers, here’s the lowdown on the cakes we tried. Millionaire Cake at The Cake Bake Shop – $22.99 per slice If you’ve ever dreamed of indulging in a millionaire’s lifestyle, or at least their dessert, The Cake Bake Shop has you covered with its Millionaire Cake. This towering slice is made up of rich chocolate cake layers paired with decadent chocolate ganache, creamy caramel, buttercream frosting, and a sprinkling of shortbread crumbs. Millionaire’s Cake This isn’t just a cake. It’s a full sensory experience. Each bite is soft, luscious, and practically melts in your mouth. Plus, the exterior is coated in milk chocolate and drizzled with caramel, adding a satisfying crunch from the shortbread crumbs on top. Delicious! While the $22.99 price tag is steep, we’d be lying if we said it wasn’t worth it. The flavors were incredible, and the quality of ingredients really shone through. Would we buy it again? For special occasions, absolutely. But it’s definitely not an every-visit kind of splurge. Andes Mint Cookies & Cream Cake at Gideon’s Bakehouse – $9 per slice ($68 for the whole cake) Gideon’s Bakehouse is already famous for its cookies, but did you know they also serve jaw-dropping cake slices? On our visit, the rotating daily flavor was Andes Mint Cookies & Cream, and naturally, we couldn’t resist. Andes Mint Cookies & Cream Cake This cake is an absolute beast. The layers are drenched in minty, cookies-and-cream frosting that’s as thick as the cake itself (a frosting-to-cake ratio we can respect). The outside is coated with chopped Andes Mints, giving it a cool, minty finish that balances the richness of the chocolate cake perfectly. Andes Mint Cookies & Cream Cake At just $9 a slice, this cake feels like a steal compared to some of the other pricey options on our list. It’s fresh, indulgent, and ideal for anyone who loves the combination of chocolate and mint. And if you’re feeling bold, you can order the entire cake for $68, though we think a single slice is plenty for most people! Toy Soldier Mickey Dome Cake at Amorette’s Patisserie – $67 At Amorette’s Patisserie, we took things to the next level with the Toy Soldier Mickey Dome Cake. This seasonal specialty (available through December 31, 2024) is a sight to behold. Decked out with intricate holiday-themed chocolate decorations, this cake is a true work of art. Toy Solider Mickey Dome Cake But let’s talk flavor. Inside, you’ll find layers of chocolate chiffon, milk chocolate mousse, and coconut-pecan filling. It’s essentially a glorified German chocolate cake wrapped in a fluffy mousse exterior. The texture was light and airy, but the flavor packed a sugary punch. Plenty of sugary bites While the $67 price tag is pretty shocking, this cake is meant to be shared. It serves 8 to 10 people. We loved the festive design and flavors, but the high cost makes it more of a special-occasion indulgence. If you’re hosting a holiday party and want something unique and Instagram-worthy, this could be the splurge for you. Honorable Mention: The Kitchen Sink at The Kitchen Restaurant – $48 Okay, so technically this one isn’t a Disney World cake. It’s served at The Kitchen Restaurant in Universal Orlando’s Hard Rock Hotel. But we had to include it because, wow, what a dessert! The Kitchen Sink is seven layers of indulgence, featuring brownie, peanut butter crème, chocolate chunk cookie, red velvet, vanilla cheesecake, devil’s food chocolate cake, and vanilla chiffon, all topped with ice cream, chocolate sauce, and strawberries. The Kitchen Sink This behemoth of a dessert is best shared with a group of 4-6 people. It’s simply too much for one person to handle. The flavors are bold and varied, with each layer offering something different. It’s served cold, which made the brownie layer a bit tough, but overall, it’s a fun and delicious challenge. Just be prepared for a mess when cutting into it! Bite of the cake So, are these pricey cakes worth it? Well, if you’re a dessert enthusiast or celebrating a special occasion, the Millionaire Cake at The Cake Bake Shop and the seasonal dome cake at Amorette’s Patisserie are excellent splurges. For a more budget-friendly indulgence, Gideon’s Bakehouse delivers big flavor at a fraction of the cost. Until then, keep it right here at DFB for all the latest Disney World dining tips and reviews! 24. I don’t want to be mean. I don’t like being the Negative Nancy (sorry to the Nancys…nothing personal!). I want to give Disney a chance! But, at this point, I’ve given Disney about…20 chances. Enough is enough. ©Disney If you love a live-action remake, you might not like what I am going to say. My arguments are probably not any different than what people are saying in Disney’s comment section. But after the latest live-action Lilo & Stitch promotion came out online, I had to say something. Where do we draw the line?! The trailer is a clear rip of the early-2000s “Inter-Stitch-als” Disney made to promote the original Lilo & Stitch animated movie. There was the time Stitch crashed Aladdin… ©Disney …The Little Mermaid… ©Disney …Beauty and the Beast… ©Disney …and The Lion King. Back when these debuted, I remember my tiny mind being BLOWN by the idea that Stitch found his way into other movies. It was like breaking the fourth wall. It was creative, memorable, and (this is important) FUNNY! ©Disney But this time around, it wasn’t funny. CGI Stitch is cute. It’s just that his “realistic” movements and facial expressions feel stiff in comparison to the 2D animated version. Plus, the crossover joke already exists, so this is just a (sorry to be harsh) lazy recreation trying to promote two upcoming live-action movies at the same time (a live-action Mufasa movie premiers December 20th). The nostalgia play is getting old. ©Disney When I say the live-action Stitch feels stiff, this is what I mean. Have you ever heard the old joke, “Never pause an animated Disney movie?” It’s because you might end up paused on a frame that looks something like this. Where the actions defy the normal laws of gravity and facial elasticity. When you’re watching the movie, you don’t see poor Cobra Bubbles like this. But the action is big, dramatic, and intentional — animators deliberately DREW this. Live-action Cobra Bubbles can’t have this kind of reaction when a computer-animated character throws a book at his face, and doesn’t that kind of suck the fun out of the movie? ©Disney Honestly, I’m tired. I want Disney to wake me up! I want fresh new ideas. I want the kind of magic Disney created when it made Enchanted. Can we go back to that, please?
