  1. Staying at a Disney World hotel provides guests with exciting perks that other guests don’t get access to. Stormalong Bay at Disney’s Yacht Club Hotel We’ll admit that unfortunately a lot of these have gone away over the past few years, but all hotel guests still have access to Early Entry into any Disney World theme park 30 minutes before park open each day, Deluxe hotel guests also have Extended Evening Hours in select parks on certain days, and starting in 2025, all hotel guests can enter whichever Disney World water park is open at that time for free on the day of their arrival, just to name a few. However, starting today, a HUGE new hotel perk begins, and anyone staying at a hotel soon NEEDS to know about it! As of today, July 24th, Genie+ is gone and is now known as Lightning Lane Multi Pass, and Individual Lightning Lanes are called Lightning Lane Single Pass. Now guests have the opportunity to pre-book 3 Lightning Lanes for each day of their vacation when they purchase Lightning Lane Multi Pass OR Single Pass. Once one Lightning Lane reservation is used up in the parks, another one may be made. CHANGES are HERE! However, while regular Disney World guests can only pre-book these selections up to 3 days in advance of their first day, Disney World hotel guests (and guests at Shades of Green Resort and the Swan and Dolphin Resorts) will be able to plan Lightning Lane passes up to 7 days in advance for their entire stay (up to 14 days). This means that hotel guests have a better chance of being able to get the attractions they’re looking at at the TIMES they’re hoping for, which can be essential when planning your park day. Caribbean Beach Now, this is an optional paid service for both hotel guests and off property guests alike — everyone will be paying the same price for Lightning Lane no matter where they’re staying. All of the Lightning Lane purchases will be made through the My Disney Experience app. So be sure you download it and get very familiar with how it works between now and when your booking window for Lightning Lanes opens. Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa It’s also important for you to know that there will be a tiered system for ride selections (just like FastPass+ had). Magic Kingdom, EPCOT, and Disney’s Hollywood Studios will all feature two tiers where you’ll be able to choose one experience from a higher-tiered group and two experiences (or all three) from a lower-tiered group. Magic Kingdom Guests may choose ONE attraction from the following: Big Thunder Mountain Railroad Jungle Cruise Peter Pan’s Flight Space Mountain Tiana’s Bayou Adventure Guests may choose TWO attractions (or all three) from the following: The Barnstormer Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin Disney Festival of Fantasy Parade Dumbo the Flying Elephant Enchanted Tales with Belle Haunted Mansion “it’s a small world” Mad Tea Party The Magic Carpets of Aladdin The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh Meet Ariel at Her Grotto Meet Cinderella and a Visiting Princess at Princess Fairytale Hall Meet Mickey at Town Square Theater Meet Princess Tiana and a Visiting Princess at Princess Fairytale Hall Mickey’s PhilharMagic Monsters, Inc. Laugh Floor Pirates of the Caribbean Tomorrowland Speedway Under the Sea – Journey of the Little Mermaid Magic Kingdom EPCOT Guests may choose ONE attraction from the following: Frozen Ever After Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure Soarin’ Around the World Guests may choose TWO attractions (or all 3) from the following: Disney & Pixar Short Film Festival Journey Into Imagination with Figment Living With the Land Meet Beloved Disney Pals at Mickey & Friends Mission: SPACE The Seas with Nemo and Friends Spaceship Earth Turtle Talk with Crush EPCOT Disney’s Hollywood Studios Guests may choose ONE attraction from the following: Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway Millennium Falcon: Smuggler’s Run Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith Slinky Dog Dash Guests may choose TWO attractions (or all 3) from the following: Alien Swirling Saucers Beauty and the Beast — Live on Stage Disney Junior Play and Dance! For the First Time in Forever: A Frozen Sing-Along Celebration Indiana Jones Epic Stunt Spectacular Meet Olaf at Celebrity Spotlight Muppet*Vision 3D Star Tours The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror Toy Story Mania! Hollywood Studios Disney’s Animal Kingdom Guests may choose THREE attractions from the following: DINOSAUR Expedition Everest — Legend of the Forbidden Mountain Feathered Friends in Flight! Festival of the Lion King Finding Nemo: The Big Blue… and Beyond! It’s Tough to Be a Bug! Kali River Rapids Kilimanjaro Safaris Meet Favorite Disney Pals at Adventurers Outpost Na’vi River Journey Animal Kingdom As for some of the newest rides in Disney World, they’ll only be available through Lightning Lane Single Pass, which is a separate fee. You may also pre-select up to two of these rides per day before your trip: Magic Kingdom Seven Dwarfs Mine Train TRON Lightcycle / Run EPCOT Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind Animal Kingdom Avatar Flight of Passage Hollywood Studios Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance We know, it’s a LOT to take in, but we’re experiencing all these changes with you in real time, so we’ll be walking you through all the changes as we discover how everything works — be sure to stay tuned to DFB for all the latest news! 2. We don’t know about you, but we are struggling to keep up with all the changes happening in Disney World right now. Sure, the EPCOT transformation is finally complete, but there are still so many more changes in store. New Lightning Lane changes are coming Magic Kingdom will be getting a huge expansion. In EPCOT, Test Track is closed so it can be reimagined. In Disney’s Animal Kingdom, DinoLand, U.S.A. is going to get a re-theme. Then Disney went and announced that it’s also completely changing Genie+. We’ve been doing our best to answer all your burning questions about the NEW system replacing Genie+, and now Disney has surprised us by adding some attractions we thought would NOT be a part of it! First up, Genie+ is going away and will be replaced with Lightning Lane Multi Pass. It’s more than just a name change, though. You’ll be able to purchase Lightning Lane Multi Pass BEFORE your trip and make up to three ride selections before you ever step foot in the parks. If you’re staying at a Disney World hotel, you’ll get to make your selections up to seven days in advance. Everyone else can make selections three days in advance. ©Disney Rides have also been put into a tiered system, so you’ll only be able to book one Lightning Lane for rides in the top tier and two rides in the bottom tier or three rides in the bottom tier. ©Disney Now this was the list Disney gave us when they announced this new system last month. And we quickly noticed some things that were MISSING that used to be included in Disney Genie+, namely some character meet and greets, shows, and reserved viewing for fireworks and parades. BUT, when the new system went live on the Disney World app at midnight on July 24th, we were pleasantly surprised! You’ll have to choose a standby line for Mickey The eligible Multi Pass Experiences listed in the app include meet and greets, parade viewing, shows, and more! Ariel in the Festival of Fantasy parade Here’s a look at the non-ride attractions that are available! Magic Kingdom Disney Festival of Fantasy Parade Enchanted Tales with Belle Meet Ariel at Her Grotto Meet Cinderella and a Visiting Princess at Princess Fairytale Hall Meet Mickey at Town Square Theater Meet Princess Tiana and a Visiting Princess at Princess Fairytale Hall EPCOT Meet Beloved Disney Pals at Mickey & Friends Disney’s Hollywood Studios Beauty and the Beast — Live on Stage Disney Junior Play and Dance! For the First Time in Forever: A Frozen Sing-Along Celebration Indiana Jones Epic Stunt Spectacular Meet Olaf at Celebrity Spotlight Disney’s Animal Kingdom Feathered Friends in Flight! Festival of the Lion King Finding Nemo: The Big Blue…and Beyond! 3. Take a deep breath, everyone — another MAJOR change has hit Disney World. Don’t worry though — we’re here covering it all for you! Hollywood Studios Not only has the name of Genie+ changed to Lightning Lane Multi Pass (and Individual Lightning Lanes are now Lightning Lane Single Pass), but it’s also completely changing how you do Disney World. Now you’ll be able to PRE-BOOK your Lightning Lanes! But wait — how much does this new(ish) service cost? At midnight the changes hit the Disney World app and we found out that pricing, and we’re here to tell you ALL about it. Previously, the old system (Genie+) started at $15 per person, per day and that price was determined based on the popularity of which park you were heading to that day, with one of the highest prices being the Multi-Park option (allowing you to park hop). We’d seen that price jump all the way up to $39 during busy times, but we’re finding out just how much this new service costs. ©Disney There are two parts to this new service — Lightning Lane Multi Pass (previously Disney Genie+) and Lightning Lane Single Pass (previously Individual Lightning Lanes). Just like before, these are two SEPARATE costs, but you can choose up to 3 of each 7 days in advance of the first day of your trip for Disney World hotel guests, and up to 3 days in advance for all other guests. ©Disney For the first day of Lightning Lane Multi Pass (July 24th), the pricing looks like this: Magic Kingdom — $29 EPCOT — $21 Hollywood Studios — $26 Animal Kingdom — $18 This pricing is consistent with the pricing for Disney Genie+ for the past few days, and we have seen these prices on weekdays for most of July. So, it does not look like the new system will have a price increase — at least for now! As for Lightning Lane Single Pass rides, here’s the July 24th pricing: Seven Dwarfs Mine Train — $12 TRON Lightcycle / Run — $20 Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind — $17 Rise of the Resistance — $25 Avatar Flight of Passage — $16 Again, this pricing is consistent with what we have been seeing for Individual Lightning Lanes most days this summer. And because this system now allows you to book in advance, Disney has released pricing for Multi Pass and Single Pass through August 14th! Here’s a breakdown: July 25th: Magic Kingdom — $29, EPCOT — $21, Hollywood Studios — $26, Animal Kingdom — $18 July 26th: Magic Kingdom — $27, EPCOT — $19, Hollywood Studios — $24, Animal Kingdom — $17 July 27th: Magic Kingdom — $25, EPCOT — $18, Hollywood Studios — $22, Animal Kingdom — $16 July 28th: Magic Kingdom — $25, EPCOT — $18, Hollywood Studios — $22, Animal Kingdom — $16 July 29th: Magic Kingdom — $27, EPCOT — $19, Hollywood Studios — $24, Animal Kingdom — $17 July 30th: Magic Kingdom — $27, EPCOT — $19, Hollywood Studios — $24, Animal Kingdom — $17 July 31st: Magic Kingdom — $27, EPCOT — $19, Hollywood Studios — $24, Animal Kingdom — $17 August 1st: Magic Kingdom — $27, EPCOT — $19, Hollywood Studios — $24, Animal Kingdom — $17 August 2nd: Magic Kingdom — $27, EPCOT — $19, Hollywood Studios — $24, Animal Kingdom — $17 August 3rd: Magic Kingdom — $25, EPCOT — $18, Hollywood Studios — $22, Animal Kingdom — $16 August 4th: Magic Kingdom — $25, EPCOT — $18, Hollywood Studios — $22, Animal Kingdom — $16 August 5th: Magic Kingdom — $27, EPCOT — $19, Hollywood Studios — $24, Animal Kingdom — $17 August 6th: Magic Kingdom — $27, EPCOT — $19, Hollywood Studios — $24, Animal Kingdom — $17 August 7th: Magic Kingdom — $27, EPCOT — $19, Hollywood Studios — $24, Animal Kingdom — $17 August 8th: Magic Kingdom — $27, EPCOT — $19, Hollywood Studios — $24, Animal Kingdom — $17 August 9th: Magic Kingdom — $25, EPCOT — $18, Hollywood Studios — $22, Animal Kingdom — $16 August 10th: Magic Kingdom — $25, EPCOT — $18, Hollywood Studios — $22, Animal Kingdom — $16 August 11th: Magic Kingdom — $25, EPCOT — $18, Hollywood Studios — $22, Animal Kingdom — $16 August 12th: Magic Kingdom — $27, EPCOT — $19, Hollywood Studios — $24, Animal Kingdom — $17 August 13th: Magic Kingdom — $25, EPCOT — $18, Hollywood Studios — $22, Animal Kingdom — $16 August 14th: Magic Kingdom — $27, EPCOT — $19, Hollywood Studios — $24, Animal Kingdom — $17 Now, when you’re going to book ahead of time, Disney says you will have the option to book BOTH Single Passes and Multi Passes in the same transaction for your WHOLE vacation. However, at the time of this post’s publication, Single Pass pricing was only available for July 24th in the My Disney Experience App. ©Disney Disney is also introducing a tiered system for ride selections (or reintroducing, technically, from the previous extinct FastPass+ service). At Magic Kingdom, EPCOT, and Disney’s Hollywood Studios, from the 3 advance selections you make for Lightning Lane Multi Pass, you’ll be able to choose one experience from a higher-tiered group and two experiences (or all three) from a lower-tiered group. However, tiers do not apply at Disney’s Animal Kingdom. ©Disney Our reporters will be in all four Disney World parks today, running a number of experiments with the new Lightning Lane Multi Pass and Lightning Lane Single Pass systems to answer ALL of your questions. 4. We think we could all use a Disney Cruise Line vacation right about now! ©DisneyCruiseLine Disney Cruise Line currently operates five cruise ships, with three more already announced to be on the way. While they have some pretty amazing ships already in their fleet, we are getting excited for the Disney Treasure to join the fleet later this year. The Disney Treasure is scheduled to make its Maiden Voyage with passengers on December 21st, 2024. Disney has been releasing lots of information about what to expect on this new cruise ship, and we spotted some weird things that will be on this cruise ship. Let’s take a look at a few of the odd items that will be making their way onto Disney’s sixth ship. Cat Cocktail at Scat Cat Lounge We are starting off with the item that inspired this whole post: the Cat Cocktail from the Scat Cat Lounge. We love cats here at DFB, but we feel a little uneasy with how this drink makes us feel. ©Disney The Cat Drink contains clarified bourbon, amaro, Aperol, and fresh lemon…and a cat staring directly at you. We kind of feel like its eyes are following us as we move. Disney Announces NEW Aristocats-themed Lounge for Disney Treasure Cruise Ship Hidden Figments This one is a weird thing that will only be able to be seen from a particular room on the ship. The Tomorrow Tower Suite is an EPCOT-inspired room onboard the Disney Treasure. Not only is it MASSIVE, but it will also have some hidden details. Inside the Tomorrow Tower Suite, you will be able to spot hidden Figments. Tomorrow Tower Suite ©Disney Yep! We are talking about the purple dragon from Journey Into Imagination With Figment. Disney has stated that “guests will encounter Figment posing in various hiding places.” We haven’t spotted any in the artist renderings of the room, but we are excited to see where Figment is hiding! 8 Uncomfortable PROBLEMS You’ll Face When Cruising on the Disney Treasure Ghost Fish Aquarium at Haunted Mansion Parlor We have written about the Haunted Mansion Parlor quite a few times. We are maybe just slightly excited about it (more like counting down the days until we can experience it!). There is one weird item that will be located inside the Haunted Mansion Parlor. While enjoying a beverage, you will also be able to see a Ghost Fish Aquarium. This is a mysterious aquarium filled with ghost fish. ©Disney Does that mean little ghostly fish swimming around? While Disney hasn’t released exactly what to expect with this aquarium, we do have this lovely concept art to tide us over until we can experience it in person. Intriguing, but also a bit weird! 9 Things We’re Begging Disney To Bring to the NEW Haunted Mansion Bar Chocolate Bark Zootopia Postcards While onboard the Disney Treasure, you will be able to shop at Jumbeaux’s Sweets, which is the counterpart to Zootopia’s ice cream parlor, Jumbeaux Café. This shop will feature Victorian-style architecture and lots of pink. But that is not the only thing you will be able to find there. You will also be able to grab some Zootopia Chocolate Bark Post Cards. ©Disney These sweet treats are inspired by Zootopia characters with flavor combinations that include dry fruits, nuts, and sprinkles. We are curious to see what type of flavor combinations represent each of the characters! MENUS Announced for New Restaurants on Disney Treasure Cruise Ship Groot is the Star of a Dinner Show Alright, we absolutely LOVE Groot, but when we heard he was hosting his very own dinner show we were intrigued…but a bit surprised too. Groot will be starring in Marvel Celebration of Heroes: Groot Remix which will be an immersive experience that follows Groot as he brings diners along for an on-screen quest. ©Disney While you dine, you will enjoy an “awesome mix” of tunes and even answer trivia questions to test your Marvel knowledge. We are actually pretty excited to be able to dine with Groot and we are curious to see where our adventure with him takes us. Disney Announces Details for NEW Guardians of the Galaxy Dinner Show for Treasure Cruise Ship Woody Water Blaster in the Toy Story Splash Zone We always love to see what innovative spaces will be brought to the Disney cruise ships, and this Toy Story Splash Zone looks like a lot of fun for the kiddos. However, we couldn’t help but notice the slightly bizarre looking Woody water blaster. ©Disney While we can see the inspiration, we are also thinking this water blaster could end up in our nightmares. We will say, the water blaster grows on you a bit, but it still is a bit odd. We are curious to see what Buzz looks like from the front though! 6 Things That Cost EXTRA on Disney’s NEW Treasure Cruise Ship If you are just as excited about Disney cruises as we are, make sure you check out our video that covers FIFTY things you may not have known are on a Disney cruise: We can’t wait for this ship to set sail as it is jam-packed with activities, restaurants, and more. 8. Huge Lightning Lane changes coming to Disney World TOMORROW! CHANGES are coming JULY 24TH! We’ve answered your BIGGEST questions about the updates, including news that a new, tiered system would be introduced for attractions, but now we’re going over everything you need to know ahead of these major changes. What’s changed? What has stayed the same? We’ve got you covered here at DFB! As of July 24th, Genie+ will be known as Lightning Lane Multi-Pass, and Individual Lightning Lanes will be called Lightning Lane Single Pass. In addition to these changes, Disney has announced that beginning July 24th, you can: Make Lightning Lane plans before you get to the parks, for added confidence. Choose your experiences and times before purchasing, so you know what you’re getting. Book Lightning Lane passes for multiple vacation days, all in a single day. ©Disney Disney World hotel guests (and guests of other select hotels) will be able to plan Lightning Lane passes up to 7 days in advance for their entire stay (up to 14 days). All other guests can plan up to 3 days in advance. But, Disney has included the caveat that you must be in the United States to purchase Lightning Lane passes. ©Disney Let’s go over everything you need to know! Lightning Lane Multi Pass Lightning Lane Multi Pass is an optional paid service available through the My Disney Experience app that allows guests access to Lightning Lanes at select attractions in the parks by paying a base price for multiple attractions. If you think this sounds a lot like Genie+, you’re right — the service is very similar with some minor differences. ©Disney Purchasing Lightning Lane Multi Pass gives you the ability to make up to 3 Lightning Lane Multi Pass selections in ONE park in advance of your visit. Essentially, you get selectable times that can be chosen for up to three (3) Lighting Lane Multi Pass selections at a time. Folks staying at a Disney World Resort hotel (and select other hotels) will be able to purchase and select their first 3 Lightning Lane Multi Passes up to seven (7) days in advance of their check-in day for their entire stay (up to 14 days), with all other guests being able to purchase and select their first three Lightning Lane Multi Passes three (3) days in advance. Once you use a selection, you can make another one based on what is still available on the My Disney Experience app — which is how the current system works New Lightning Lane changes are coming Not only that, but there will be a tiered system for ride selections (a la the old days). Magic Kingdom, EPCOT, and Disney’s Hollywood Studios will all feature two tiers where you’ll be able to choose one experience from a higher-tiered group and two experiences (or all three) from a lower-tiered group. Keep in mind that Disney’s Animal Kingdom will NOT feature tiers. The tiers at the other three parks are as follows: Magic Kingdom Guests may choose ONE attraction from the following: Big Thunder Mountain Railroad Jungle Cruise Peter Pan’s Flight Space Mountain Tiana’s Bayou Adventure Guests may choose TWO attractions (or all three) from the following: The Barnstormer Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin Dumbo the Flying Elephant Haunted Mansion “it’s a small world” Mad Tea Party The Magic Carpets of Aladdin The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh Mickey’s PhilharMagic Monsters, Inc. Laugh Floor Pirates of the Caribbean Tomorrowland Speedway Under the Sea – Journey of the Little Mermaid Here’s what it says on the back! EPCOT Guests may choose ONE attraction from the following: Frozen Ever After Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure Soarin’ Around the World Guests may choose TWO attractions (or all 3) from the following: Disney & Pixar Short Film Festival Journey Into Imagination with Figment Living With the Land Mission: SPACE The Seas with Nemo and Friends Spaceship Earth Turtle Talk with Crush New Lightning Lane pamplhet Disney’s Hollywood Studios Guests may choose ONE attraction from the following: Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway Millennium Falcon: Smuggler’s Run Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith Slinky Dog Dash Guests may choose TWO attractions (or all 3) from the following: Alien Swirling Saucers Beauty and the Beast — Live on Stage Disney Junior Play and Dance! For the First Time in Forever: A Frozen Sing-Along Celebration Indiana Jones Epic Stunt Spectacular Muppet*Vision 3D Star Tours The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror Toy Story Mania! Scanning into a Lightning Lane at Disney World Disney’s Animal Kingdom Guests may choose THREE attractions from the following: DINOSAUR Expedition Everest — Legend of the Forbidden Mountain Feathered Friends in Flight! Festival of the Lion King Finding Nemo: The Big Blue… and Beyond! It’s Tough to Be a Bug! Kali River Rapids Kilimanjaro Safaris Na’vi River Journey Attraction Sign at Animal Kingdom directing Guests to Standby Line and Lightning Lane Entrances Disney has yet to reveal a new pricing structure for these changes, but the current pricing structure under Genie+ is as follows: Genie+ starts at $15 per day, per ticket at Disney World Price varies by park in Disney World** — Guests can either buy a single-park Genie+ option or a multi-park option (to accommodate Park Hopping) Genie+ starts at $30 per day, per ticket at the Disneyland Resort Now, more about that Single Pass. Lightning Lane Single Pass Under the old system, guests can purchase Individual Attraction Lightning Lane Selections via Disney Genie. This pay-per-ride service requires a one-time fee for in-demand attractions. Lightning Lane Single Pass is essentially the same theme, with the major difference being that you can make your purchase before your trip. ©Disney Similar to the Multi Pass, those staying at a Disney World Resort hotel (and select other hotels) will be able to purchase and select their first 3 Lightning Lane Single Passes up to seven (7) days in advance of their check-in day for their entire stay (up to 14 days), and all other guests can purchase and select their first three Lightning Lane Single Passes three (3) days in advance. Lightning Lane The full list of attractions that are currently available for Individual Attraction Selection in Walt Disney World is as follows: Magic Kingdom: Seven Dwarfs Mine Train TRON Lightcycle / Run EPCOT: Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind Animal Kingdom: Avatar Flight of Passage Hollywood Studios: Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance TRON Lightcycle / RUN Lighting Lane At Disneyland, expect Radiator Springs Racers at Disney California Adventure and Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance at Disneyland Park to remain OFF the Multi Pass option for the time being — though we won’t know for sure just yet. Planning in Advance Disney World hotel guests will be able to purchase Lightning Lane passes starting at 7AM seven (7) days IN ADVANCE of their check-in day while all other park guests can purchase theirs also at 7AM three (3) days in advance of their first park day. Eligible Hotels for the 7-Day advance planning are: Disney World Resort Hotels Shades of Green Resort Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin Hotels Lightning Lane It’s a good idea to have your whole party loaded into and linked on the My Disney Experience App before 7AM on the day you’re eligible to start booking Lightning Lanes, purchasing both Multi Pass and Single Pass for each day of your trip at the same time if this is an option you plan to pursue, and doing your research to know what you want to ride ahead of time. To book your Lightning Lanes, all you need is the free My Disney Experience app to make your purchases! Be sure to connect/link everyone in your traveling party on your Family and Friends list in the app so the selections will count for everyone in your party. From the app, you’ll be able to select the pass type, preferred theme park, dates of the pass, rides, and time slot of the passes. Still confused? Q: Do Lightning Lane Single Pass Reservations Open at the Same Time? A: Yes. Q: Do Lightning Lane Single Pass Selections Count Towards My Multi Pass Selections? A: No. Q: Is There Still a 2-hour “Cooldown” Period? A: No, Disney World is voiding this rule and you can hold up to 3 Lightning Lanes at any given time. Q: If You Book 3 Lightning Lanes Ahead of Time in the Evening, Do You Have to Wait Until You Use Your First One Before You Can Book the 4th? A: Yes, you will beallowed to book your next Lightning Lane pass once your earliest Lightning Lane pass has been used (or its arrival window has passed). Once you redeem a selection on the day of your park visit, you can use the My Disney Experience app to choose another multi pass experience in any Walt Disney World theme park (subject to availability), as long as you have a valid ticket with the Park Hopper option or an Annual Pass. The ability to visit another park is subject to the park’s capacity limitations.” Q: If I am traveling to Disney World from another country, does that affect my ability to plan in advance? A: Yes, pre-arrival planning will begin on the My Disney Experience App after you reach the United States. Canadians are exempt from this rule. Q: Can Plans be Changed and Modified? A: Yes, but modifications are subject to availability, and there may be price differences involved if switching days and/or parks. Single Pass Lightning Lanes times may not be modified. Q: Are Lightning Lane Single Pass Eligible Rides also Available for Multi Pass? A: No. Q: What If July 24th Is In the Middle of My Trip? A: You can plan in advance beginning on July 24th, so you won’t be able to plan ahead until then. 9. The Disney Destiny will be a sister ship to the Disney Wish and Disney Treasure, and Disney revealed that the ship will have a first-of-its-kind design theme! ©Disney | Disney Destiny Concept Art Aboard the Disney Destiny, you must choose a side: Heroes or Villains. The ship’s theme will be inspired by Disney Heroes and Villains and will draw “on the legacies of beloved Disney stories, characters, and theme park attractions.” And, we officially know when we’ll learn more about this ship! Disney has been keeping much of the details close, but we think we might know when we’ll get some exciting announcements! In a post on Instagram, Disney Cruise Line said to keep an eye out beginning on July 30th for a three-day reveal of the Disney Destiny! The Disney Destiny | ©Disney Disney has also been sending out PR packages to get folks excited about the announcements, including a ton of patches that give us pretty good clues about the ship. Not only that, but Disney Destiny bookings will open to the public on August 9th! Thanks to our friends at Small World Vacations for letting us know about the booking dates. ©Disney We’ve already had some clues about this ship, but thanks to these patches we’re pretty confident we can expect to see elements of Marvel, Pixar, the Haunted Mansion, Pirates of the Caribbean, Hercules, Cruella, and more! ©Disney According to Disney, Imagineers were “inspired by the dynamic duality of every great Disney story when developing this new ship, where opposing forces of light and dark drive characters to rise to their purpose.” Look out for both heroes and villains onboard the ship, including characters from The Lion King, One Hundred and One Dalmatians, and Hercules. Disney teased new spaces, experiences, and entertainment on the ship inspired by the heroes and villains of those popular Disney films. ©Disney Currently, the ship is  scheduled for delivery in 2025 and will join the Disney Cruise Line’s new fleet of ships, including the Disney Wish, Disney Treasure, and the Disney Adventure, which will have a homeport in Singapore. 11. You never know who you might run into the next time you’re on your Disney vacation! Bo Peep and Jessie Ever since Disney started buying up established franchises like Pixar, Lucasfilm, and Marvel, we’ve seen more and more interesting (and rare!) character meet-and-greets come to the parks. Seeing Indiana Jones and Kevin from Up in one place is honestly kind of mind-blowing. But, we certainly never thought we’d see this character at Disneyland! It’s official — Deadpool will be coming to Disneyland Resort soon! Yep, Wade Wilson himself will be roaming around the Avengers Campus at Disney California Adventure beginning July 26th. We’re also pretty sure this makes him a Disney Princess. ©Disney The new character interaction is coming to the park to celebrate the release of the latest Deadpool movie, Deadpool & Wolverine, starring Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman as the titular characters, reprising their iconic roles. The film premieres on July 26th as well! ©Disney For now, Disney has only shared that Deadpool will be around for a limited time, but hasn’t given us an official end date for his time in the park. And, over at Disneyland Paris, Deadpool will also be meeting with parkgoers starting July 24th! ©Disney Deadpool is known for his sarcastic, coarse humor, and we hope to see that brought to life in the character at Disneyland! But, knowing what we know about this foul-mouthed superhero, chances are he’s going to have to be on his best behavior to keep things PG. ©Disney You can watch the official trailer for Deadpool & Wolverine below: You know we’ll be trying to catch this new Disney Princess (kidding) at Disneyland once he debuts, so make sure you stay tuned to check it out! 13. If you’re going to Disney World in 2025, make sure you know what you’re in for. Magic Kingdom It’s long been the case that a Walt Disney World vacation takes a lot of planning. However, even if you *think* you know everything there is to know about the resort, bear in mind things ARE always changing. There are several things about going to Walt Disney World in 2025 that might completely shock you, especially if you haven’t been in a few years. Genie+ is Going to be COMPLETELY Different Genie+ was first introduced in October 2021, and many guests have only now gotten the hang of using the service. Just in time for it to go away. Lightning Lane Beginning in July 24th, 2024, Walt Disney World’s skip-the-line service will be completely transformed. The Genie+ and Individual Lightning Lanes will disappear entirely, replaced by Lightning Lane Multi Pass and Lightning Lane Single Pass. Lightning Lane Multi Pass You will now be able to make 3 Lightning Lane selections in a theme park, in advance of your visit, and choose available times as you make your selections. From there, as you use the first selection on each day of your visit, you can use the My Disney Experience app for availability to make an additional selection. Lightning Lane at Spaceship Earth Lightning Lane Single Pass Lightning Lane Single Pass will remain similar to Individual Lightning Lanes, today in concept. You’ll still be able to “secure a time to ride one of (Disney’s) most highly demanded attractions” for an additional charge. However, you’ll now be able to make the purchase and plan in advance. Kali River Rapids Lightning Lane sign in Disney’s Animal Kingdom The changes brought on by Lightning Lane Multi Pass and Lightning Lane Single Pass will extend to before the start of your trip, as they can be booked prior to your arrival. Disney hotel guests will be able to purchase and book them 7 days in advance, while those not staying at Disney hotels will be able to 3 days beforehand. Either way, be warned that if you don’t book them beforehand, you may not have many Lightning Lane options when you arrive. Pack Your Swimsuit in Your Carry-On As the start of 2025 rolls around, Disney will have rolled out another new perk for hotel guests… if you take advantage of it. Blizzard Beach Water Park All guests checking in at Disney Resorts (including DVC properties) between January 1st and December 31st 2025, will get a FREE park ticket to one of Disney’s water parks on their arrival day. You’ll be able to use this perk at either Blizzard Beach Water Park or Typhoon Lagoon Water Park, but only on your check-in day. Typhoon Lagoon While “free” water park tickets are a nice perk, there are a ton of logistical issues to think about. For starters, to truly take advantage, you’ll need to arrive early, which: Might lead to the need to schedule earlier flights or travel arrangements. Means your room likely won’t be ready when you arrive, so you may need to either travel in your water park attire OR change in your resort’s lobby restroom before dropping your bags off with guest services and heading to whichever water park is open. While neither of those are vacation dealbreakers — nor reasons to not take advantage of the water park perk — they are things to keep in mind when planning and packing for your trip. Castaway Creek Lazy River These are just two of the changes you’ll need to be aware of before traveling to Walt Disney World in 2025. Stay tuned to DFB for further updates on changes to Disney World. 14. Stars, they’re just like us! And by “us,” we mean Disney fans, of course! We love meeting characters in the parks! You just never know who you might run into when you’re walking down Main Street, U.S.A., or exiting Space Mountain — and that includes celebrities. We’ve spotted a TON of icons at Disney World and Disneyland lately, and this latest star’s visit is making all our millennial dreams come true! Millennial Disney celebrity and icon Lindsay Lohan recently spent some time with Mickey Mouse at Disneyland! The actress and Disney Parks shared a photo on social media with a caption about the two reuniting at the park. Ya love to see it! via Instagram Not only that, but Lohan also recently spent time at Walt Disney Studios alongside her Freaky Friday costar, Jamie Lee Curtis. The two will join forces once again for a sequel to the popular movie! The film is officially in production with a projected release date of sometime in 2025. via Lindsay Lohan on Instagram So far, we know that Mark Harmon, Chad Michael Murray, Christina Vidal Mitchell, Haley Hudson, Lucille Soong, Stephen Tobolowsky, and Rosalind Chao will be reprising their roles. The original cast will be joined by newcomers Julia Butters, Manny Jacinto, Maitreyi Ramakrishnan, and Sophia Hammons with Nisha Ganatra directing. @Disney As of now, Disney hasn’t released any details about what we might see happen in the sequel, but we’ll be keeping an eye out for updates while we have an existential crisis about feeling old. ©Disney In the meantime, we’ll be on the lookout for the latest Disney park, movie, and more news — so make sure you stay tuned to Disney Food Blog if you don’t want to miss a thing! 15. We’ve seen quite a few changes in Magic Kingdom recently! Cinderella Castle From the opening of Tiana’s Bayou Adventure to the reopening of Country Bear Jamboree and the closing of Frontierland Shootin’ Arcade, there have been quite a few construction updates. We also recently noticed that Tortuga Tavern in Adventureland had closed, and it remained empty for a little while…but now that has changed! When we arrived in Adventureland today, we noticed that Tortuga Tavern had been renamed. It’s now “Tortuga Treasures!” Tortuga Treasures The updated spot seems to have been turned into a gift shop, selling pirate-themed souvenirs and merchandise. In fact, this seems to be much of the same merchandise that you could previously buy at Plaza del Sol Caribe Bazaar, the gift shop at the exit of Pirates of the Caribbean. Merchandise displays The merchandise was spread throughout the space on various pop-up stands, and a few registers were available to make your purchases. This area definitely looks different than it did when it was a restaurant a short while ago! Lots of stuff from across the street The menus have been covered up… Menus are gone! …but some of the old Tortuga Tavern theming remains. The code of conduct remains! Across the walkway at Plaza del Sol Caribe Bazaar, the merchandise has been removed and the cash registers cleared out. Much of the store is currently under construction. What things look like at Plaza del Sol Caribe Bazaar now You can still exit the ride, and the restrooms nearby are still accessible. However, there’s a fair bit of scrim up around the middle of the store. The old cash registers So what’s going on here? Well, do you remember when Disney announced that a Pirates of the Caribbean-themed lounge would be coming to Magic Kingdom? The company hasn’t released many details about the new spot since, but we’re expecting it to be in this area. ©Disney The exact location hasn’t been confirmed, but current theories include that it will either be located near the exit of Pirates of the Caribbean or in the former Tortuga Tavern. We’ll have to wait and see what happens with construction to find out! 16. We’re all prone to believing a thing or two about Disney World that isn’t exactly true, right? Spaceship Earth We’re talking about tall tales like there being a dome over Disney World to prevent bad weather, that Tinker Bell has to fly every night in Magic Kingdom or else you get free admission, or even that Walt Disney himself is cryogenically frozen. These kinds of “lies” persist and we figured we’d break down some of the lies about EPCOT that you thought were true! Let’s dive right in! Spaceship Earth is a Giant Golf Ball One of the biggest “lies” is that Spaceship Earth is just a massive golf ball. I mean, I get it. It does look like one from a distance. Spaceship Earth This 18-story geodesic sphere is actually home to a great dark ride that takes you through the history of human communication. It’s not empty inside, and it’s definitely not designed for a game of giant putt-putt. EPCOT Stands for “Every Person Comes Out Tired” While it’s true that you’ll probably log a TON of steps as you travel around the massive park, EPCOT actually stands for Experimental Prototype Community of Tomorrow. EPCOT Walt Disney envisioned EPCOT as a kind of utopian city where technology and innovation would create a better future. ©Disney We do appreciate the joke saying that it stands for “Every Person Comes Out Tired”, especially after you’ve spent the day exploring the entire World Showcase. It’s Only for Adults We get that EPCOT has this reputation for being a “grown-up” park thanks to the World Showcase being full of international food and drink, but this place is also great for kids too! EPCOT Kids Play area With rides like Frozen Ever After and Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure and plenty of character meet-and-greets, there’s loads for the kiddos. Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure Also, there’s food for them, too from churros in Mexico to gelato in Italy. LOOK AT IT! There’s Nothing for Thrill-Seekers Do you think EPCOT is only about slow rides and educational experiences? Well, think again! Mission: SPACE Thrill-seekers can get their fix on Test Track, where you zoom around and test a concept car. Then there’s Mission: SPACE, which simulates a trip to Mars (it’s definitely not for the faint of heart). Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind Also, let’s not forget Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind, which is a roller coaster that combines high-speed excitement with the Marvel Universe. The Food is All Burgers and Fries This one couldn’t be further from the truth! EPCOT’s World Showcase is a culinary tour around the globe. California Roll You can savor sushi in Japan, indulge in pastries in France, or enjoy bratwurst in Germany. The food is authentic and delicious, making it a haven for foodies. Pastries at Les Halles So, put those burger and fries assumptions to rest and get ready to expand your palate. You Need to Speak Another Language to Enjoy World Showcase Yes, EPCOT is a celebration of cultures from around the world, but you don’t need to be multilingual to enjoy it. Italy Pavilion in EPCOT You’ll find that the Cast Members speak English, and they’re super friendly and eager to share their culture with you. It’s all about celebrating diversity, not making you feel like you to brush up on your Duolingo in order to navigate the park. You Have to See Everything in EPCOT in One Day Ok, so EPCOT is massive, and trying to cram everything into one day is a rookie mistake. You can easily spend multiple days exploring all it has to offer. EPCOT If you’re staying at one of the nearby Boardwalk hotels, you can just stroll back to your room during the hottest part of the day and return in the evening for a different experience. Walking path from Beach Club to EPCOT The same goes for Skyliner resorts or those with monorail access which makes EPCOT a breeze to visit over a few days. Disney World’s Skyliner Those were just a few of the lies about EPCOT that you thought were true, and we’d love to hear more from you! In the meantime, we’re always on the lookout for the latest Disney news, so stay tuned for more. 18. Over the years, we’ve seen some Disney souvenirs become ridiculously popular. Magic Kingdom A few years ago, people would line up in stores to purchase Starbucks tumblers, and we often see limited-edition holiday season or new attraction merchandise fly off the shelves. But there’s one Disney souvenir that has developed its own fan group and culture — the tiki mug! 19. What’s the best part about being a Disney World Annual Passholder? That’s easy — the PERKS. Annual Pass Not only does it allow you into the parks most days (or every day depending on your pass) of the year, but Disney is constantly tossing out freebies, exclusive discounts, special merchandise, lounges, and more. Now, if you’ve got an Annual Pass, we’ve got a big update for you: NEW exclusives are coming to Disney’s Animal Kingdom soon! You already know we love a mystery so as soon as the Disney World Passholder account posted a new teaser, we were on the case. Let’s see what we think these new perks could be! ©Disney Okay, the first two slides aren’t too much of a mystery. It looks like Annual Passholders will have some new PhotoPass props to use pretty soon! It’s common to see photographers around the park with props to create fun photo ops, but as an AP, you’ll have access to special ones. ©Disney Annual Passholders will also get a new magnet! From time to time, Disney World releases a free Passholder magnet…but this time you’ll probably have to travel to Animal Kingdom to get it. ©Disney Onto the next hint. The sign says “Snack o’ Clock, Tasty Treats.” Look a little closer and you’ll see Simba from The Lion King. Are new treats based on the iconic Disney movie coming to Disney World? The park has seen the return of a popular meet and greet, special souvenirs and eats, and more to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the film earlier this summer. Maybe this is a continuation of that with exclusives for Passholders? Only time will tell! ©Disney Now this last sign has us stumped. Could this be another hint to the theme of the exclusives above? It pretty much solidifies that something themed to The Lion King is coming but we’re not 100% sure what this hint is for…what do you think? ©Disney Disney said to keep an eye on the Annual Passholder Instagram page for more announcements so we’ll just have to wait for more details. There was no timeline for these exclusives to be revealed but we’ll let you know as soon as Disney makes an announcement! ©Disney Stay tuned to DFB for more updates from Disney World! 20. D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event is coming up SOON. The event is already sold out and will feature appearances and talks from Disney execs, celebrities, Imagineers, and more. D23 is coming SOON But the reason people pay thousands of dollars to go to this event is because Disney often drops huge announcements about the parks, movies, and more. We’ll be covering the event so you don’t miss a thing, but one lucky group of folks will get access to an exclusive perk at the event! The D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event will take place in Anaheim, California. The event runs from August 9th through August 11th, 2024. Disney previously released a general schedule of the main events, including highlights like the Disney Experiences Showcase on August 10th, and you can check out the full schedule here! We can’t WAIT! But, it sounds like Disney Visa Cardmembers will have access to some exclusive event fun. Since Visa is a presenting sponsor of this year’s D23 event, cardmembers can stop by the Visa booth on the expo floor to “take part in special activities including giveaways” that are exclusive to Disney Visa Cardmembers. In typical Disney fashion, they haven’t revealed just what these special activities or giveaways might be, but we’re excited all the same. ©Disney And, that’s not all, either. Disney also shared that “Cardmembers can also stop by the Disney Visa Cardmember lounge for exclusive Character Experiences and photo opportunities” during the D23 event as well. Sounds like there will be plenty of chances for cardmembers to experience some exclusive perks! We can’t wait for the Disney Experiences Showcase, where we can expect some MAJOR parks news. We’re talking Disney World, Disneyland, Tokyo Disney Resort, Hong Kong Disney Resort, and more. Past D23 events have brought us announcements like the DinoLand retheme and Tiana’s Bayou Adventure! Disney Parks Chair Josh D’Amaro will lead this event. D23 This is going to be a HUGE event, and we can’t wait to check it out. We’ll be bringing you all the latest updates and news you need to know from this year’s D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event, so stay tuned to DFB as we bring you the latest Disney news and more! 22. Are you ready for a brand-new theme park experience? While we’re big fans of the Disney and Universal theme parks all around the world, one major player in the theme park industry has successfully expanded with even more on the horizon. ©SeaWorld Disney made waves this summer with its latest theme park expansion, Universal gave us details on its Kids Resort in Texas, and Bluey’s World is set to open later this year in Australia — but one other theme park juggernaut is about to continue expansion in the Lone Star State and we’ve got all the details! Per the Orlando Business Journal, SeaWorld San Antonio’s parent company, United Parks & Resorts, is in the process of developing a theme park expansion in Texas. ©SeaWorld Orlando The Orlando-based United Parks & Resorts plans to enhance SeaWorld San Antonio with a roughly 150 thousand square foot expanded area dedicated to attractions and animal rescue efforts. Filed as a “confidential project”, the proposed expansion doesn’t have specifics at this time other than new construction and renovation. However, the previous title of the filing was Rescue Jr. — which just happens to be the name of SeaWorld San Diego’s 2023 expansion. ©SeaWorld Rescue Jr. at SeaWorld San Diego includes “rides, water features, climbing structures, and other features tied to SeaWorld’s ongoing commitment to animal rescue and rehabilitation,” according to the Orlando Business Journal. The park’s addition even includes authentic rescue vehicles, interactive activities, and other features that emphasize animal rescue and rehabilitation — principles the theme parks were initially founded on. This Texas expansion may borrow heavily from what we saw in San Diego and it’s something we’ll monitor as development continues. It appears that the filing indicates SeaWorld San Antonio plans on construction beginning in the fall of 2024 with completion by spring 2025. The estimated cost of the project is $6 million. ©SeaWorld Texas has embraced the theme park expansion trope for a while now, already housing several prominent theme park properties all over the state in addition to the Universal Kids Resort coming to Frisco. This theme park, in particular, is tailoring the experience specifically to young kids, opting for a smaller scale that encourages creativity and imagination through play and discovery. The park has been billed as something wildly different from other Universal theme parks and will be packed with loads of family-friendly lands, rides, shows, and more. ©Universal (initial concept art) We’re excited to see these new theme park experiences debut soon! 23. Disney World might be just as busy as it was before the pandemic-related closures, but we’re still seeing the remnants of those health and safety measures to this day. Cinderella Castle Services like the Magical Express are gone for good, and who knows if we’ll ever see package delivery return to the hotels or not. While most of the parks have returned to normal, there are a few experiences that have yet to return. Up until recently, we weren’t sure we would ever get to experience this rare character meet and greet again, but we may have just been proven wrong! After years of waiting, it appears as though Beast is back meeting and greeting visitors in his study at Be Our Guest restaurant in Magic Kingdom! Prior to the pandemic-related closures, diners would get to meet Beast in his study once they finished their meal during dinner. But, when this restaurant opened back up in 2020, Disney treated it as more of a traditional character meal, with Beast and Belle walking around and interacting with guests. Be Our Guest Many guests were seriously missing the opportunity to see Beast in his study, as it’s the only place where you can actually meet and interact with him in all of Disney World. People missed him! But, we had heard that the Beast would be back in his study once again soon, and it looks like that day has finally come! We passed by Be Our Guest to see if anything had changed, and we were surprised to see that it had! Of course, we had to go check it out for ourselves because it had been so long — more than FOUR years. He’s back! We confirmed with Cast Members that July 22nd was the Beast’s first day back meeting like this and that they’re testing things out to see how it goes. It’s possible this meet and greet could come back in full swing, or Disney could just choose to have Beast roaming around the restaurant with Belle as he has been since the restaurant reopened. There he is! We’ll be on the lookout for more signs that the Beast’s meet and greet is officially back at Be Our Guest in Magic Kingdom since Cast Members have told us that this is a test for now. 24. Getting to Orlando is about to get easier for some. An Allegiant aircraft Due to its many tourist attractions, Orlando is one of the busiest travel cities in the world. Now budget carrier Allegiant Airlines is preparing to add another new route to the area, though maybe not to the airport you’re expecting. According to the Orlando Business Journal, Allegiant Travel Co. is bringing eight new nonstop routes to 13 U.S. cities beginning this November. These new routes include flights between Grand Rapids, Michigan, and Palm Beach, Florida, St. Petersburg, Florida to Savannah, Georgia, Flint, Michigan to Destin, Florida, Portsmouth, New Hampshire to Sarasota, Florida, and most importantly for us to here today: a route between Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport in Cincinnati, Ohio and Melbourne Orlando International Airport in Orlando, Florida. In promotion of the launch, the carrier is offering one-way fares beginning at $39. ©Allegiant Airlines While not located as close to Disney World as Orlando International Airport (MCO) or Sanford International Airport (SFB), the airport is still within a reasonable driving distance, and arguably worth the slightly longer drive in exchange for cheaper airfare. It’s about 75 minutes away by car. Melbourne Orlando International Airport Executive Director Greg Donovan said the airport is “thrilled” to add twice-weekly service to Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport. Melbourne Orlando International Airport LinkedIn Drew Wells, Allegiant’s chief revenue officer, said of the new routes in a statement, “The addition of new routes is a testament to the success of our existing service in these communities. Our network planning team is responsive to consumer demand, constantly looking for opportunities to enhance the leisure travel experience. The new service kicks off just in time to plan warm winter getaways to sought-after coastal destinations.” Allegiant, which was founded in 1997, describes itself as making “leisure travel affordable and convenient.
