  1. We often highlight how important planning is before embarking on a Walt Disney World trip, but you’d be surprised how many people forget to account for late-night snacking. Capt. Cook’s Here at DFB, we’re all about giving you the latest and greatest Disney World dining tips, but sometimes it’s just as important to remind you about some tips that have existed for quite a while. For example, we were just reminded of one major caveat at dining at one popular Disney World hotel restaurant when you’re craving a late-night snack! Capt. Cook’s at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort has you covered when it comes to super solid counter-service options! This island-inspired restaurant offers quick and casual breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Here, you can pick up classics like burgers, Polynesian favorites like the Aloha Pork Sandwich, and the iconic Tonga Toast. However, if you visit Capt. Cook’s after a certain time in the evening, you’ll be severely disappointed, as most of the warm options won’t be available. Capt. Cook’s Restaurants that are open 24/7, such as Capt. Cook’s and Gasparilla Island Grill at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa, will often offer a severely limited Late Night Dining menu. Capt. Cook’s Late Night Dining menu is all about flatbreads and on-the-go snacks. Capt. Cook’s late at night With staff limited, the menu naturally gets cut down quite a bit. After 11PM, you’ll only be able to find Pepperoni Flatbread, Cheese Flatbread, and Hawaiian Flatbread when in the mood for warm options. The Late Night Dining menu also includes premade baked goods like cupcakes, pastries, and cookies. You’ll also find plenty of grab-and-go snacks. ©Disney In our latest pursuit of something to satisfy the late-night snack cravings, we tried the Hawaiian Flatbread and Pepperoni Flatbread, and we have some thoughts. Starting with the Pepperoni Flatbread, this snack is $13.29 and is made with Pepperoni and marinara sauce with mozzarella and parmesan blend. Pepperoni Flatbread This is the definition of a standard flatbread. The cheese and pepperoni are comparable to something you’d find at Pizza Hut and overall, this is a solid option. In the past, we’ve labeled this a pass unless you have picky eaters who are in desperate need of a late-night snack. However, we can’t deny that this flatbread is decent compared to other late-night options and is a trusty go-to for a quick bite. Super solid Next, we tried the Hawaiian Flatbread, which is also $13.29. This flatbread is made with marinara sauce with mozzarella and parmesan blend topped with ham, pineapple, and red onion. Hawaiian Flatbread This flatbread is ideal if you’re looking for a late-night snack with sweet and savory flavors. We’ve been fans of the Hawaiian Flatbread for quite a while and how different it is compared to other snack options. Crispy and packed with taste melted cheese, this flatbread provides a really strong variety of flavors, including the sweet pineapple and savory ham. If you like Hawaiian flavors, check this snack out! Have you tried this flatbread? And there you have it! What are your go-to late-night snack options at Disney World? 3. We are setting sail on the newest ship in the Disney Cruise Line fleet, the Disney Treasure and we’re taking you along with us! Disney Treasure! Disney previously gave us a sneak peek at LOTS of different spots on the ship from staterooms to restaurants to entertainment spaces and so much more during the christening event, but now we’re embarking on the Treasure’s very FIRST sailing. Come along as we share everything there is to see, do, and EAT on the Disney Treasure! The Disney Treasure will take its Maiden Voyage with passengers on December 21, 2024, and is the sixth ship in the Disney Cruise Line fleet. The ship celebrates “Walt Disney’s lifelong love of adventure,” and we were lucky enough to sail on the ship before it’s open to the public! Day 1: December 9th, 2025 Embarkation We boarded the ship from Port Canaveral on Florida’s east coast. Embarkation is easy, but you want to make sure you have all of your travel documents handy as you make your way onto the ship — you’ll need them! The earlier you check in for your cruise, the earlier you can board the ship. We found our way to the check-in area… Time to check in! …and hopped in line to board! The terminal was all decked out in holiday decor which made things feel extra festive. Getting ready to board Once you pass through the Mickey-shaped tunnel things start to really get serious! This is also when you’ll need your boarding pass or QR code handy. Here we go! And soon enough, you’ll be on the ship! Grand Hall The Grand Hall on the Disney Treasure is inspired by Aladdin, which you can see in both the architecture… Grand Hall …and other incredible elements in this space. Check out the Genie’s Lamp! Magic Lamp You’ll also notice a gorgeous statue of Aladdin and Jasmine… Aladdin and Jasmine …and this gorgeous chandelier hanging from the ceiling. Gorgeous chandelier And, don’t forget to wave “Hello” to any characters you might see as you board the ship! Hello there! But, there’s still so much to explore here! Skipper Society Lounge We got a sneak peek at the Skipper Society Lounge when we previewed the ship in November, but now we’re back for a closer look! This bar is themed after the world-famous Jungle Cruise and is an homage to the skippers who are really why we keep coming back to that ride again and again. Skipper Society Lounge Here, you’ll be able to imbibe in plenty of drinks — some of which come in fancy tiki mugs like this one, an actual Jungle Cruise boat… Tiki drink …and light bites like waffles served in an easy-to-transport package! Waffle We’ll be bringing you our full review of the drinks and eats at the Skipper Society Lounge later during our cruise, so make sure you keep an eye out for that! Haunted Mansion Parlor The BRAND-NEW Haunted Mansion Parlor on the Disney Treasure will no doubt be a happening spot. When we toured this space previously, we couldn’t believe how much it felt like we were plopped smack dab into the middle of the iconic ride. This time is no different! Haunted Mansion Parlor There are so many incredible touches and references to the Haunted Mansion in here, like the famous Donald Duck chair — which you can actually sit in! And, make sure you listen closely — you just might here some disembodied voices whispering behind you. Incredible details You’ll find plenty of spooky potions and libations on the menu here… Spooky bar …including a SECRET MENU cocktail that comes in this incredible gargoyle cup. Unfortunately, you don’t get to keep the cup, but we can’t get over how cool this looks! How cool is this?! Staterooms There are plenty of different stateroom types on the Disney Treasure including interior rooms, oceanview rooms, suites, and more. We were lucky enough to stay in a Deluxe Family Oceanview Stateroom with Verandah. We’ll be bringing you a full tour of our room soon, but for now, we’re sharing some sneak peeks! There is plenty of space in here — the couch even pulls out to another bed so more people can fit in here. Lots of space! Check out the mural above the bed — our room is Encanto-themed! How cool is that?! It’s ‘Encanto’ themed! That’s all for now, but we’ll continue to update this post as we explore more! We’re so excited to get a chance to see the Disney Treasure up close and in person. We still can’t believe we got to experience everything this ship has to offer ahead of its Maiden Voyage. 4. It’s the most wonderful time of the year — but it’s also the most CROWDED time of the year at Disney World! It’s that time of year! Holidays at Disney World can get pretty busy and we’ve seen that firsthand lately with heavy crowds and higher wait times. As Christmas and New Year’s approach, we’re anticipating things to get even worse which means you might want to pack your patience if you’re heading to the parks. Especially if you’re heading to Magic Kingdom because Park Pass Reservations are sold out for quite a few days! Heads up if you’re planning on visiting Magic Kingdom in December! Quite a few days are completely sold out of Park Pass Reservations for select ticket holders and some are also sold out for Annual Passholders. Christmas at Magic Kingdom As of now, Magic Kingdom Park Pass Reservations are SOLD OUT for select ticket holders and hotel guests on the following dates: December 13th December 14th December 24th (Christmas Eve) December 25th (Christmas Day) December 27th December 28th December 30th December 31st (New Year’s Eve) Not only that, but in addition to Magic Kingdom being out of Park Pass Reservations on New Year’s Eve, EPCOT is also full as well. Both parks feature special fireworks shows, entertainment, characters, and more. Main Street Train Station Keep in mind that only Disney World Annual Passholders and select theme park ticket holders still need to make Park Pass Reservations. Most date-based park tickets no longer require reservations to enter the parks. But, even if you don’t need a park pass and still plan on visiting Magic Kingdom on one of these sold-out days, you’ll need to be prepared for some serious crowds and long wait times. Be aware of your surroundings in crowds and lines! December — especially the days directly leading up to and following Christmas — is one of the busiest months all year at Disney World. Folks are looking to spend time in the Most Magical Place on Earth while it’s all decked out for the holidays and we certainly don’t blame them! If you’re heading to the parks this month, don’t forget about Early Theme Park Entry and Extended Evening Hours for select Disney World hotel guests — and you can always opt to purchase Lightning Lane Multi Pass, Single Pass, or Premier Pass to skip the standby lines. 6. Disney jumped on board the millennial pink and rose gold trends HARD! We saw all sorts of Disney merchandise pop up in the iconic pink hues, and now we have a CLUE about what color we might see trending next year. Rose Gold Ears Pantone recently announced its color of the year for 2025, and we have a feeling we might be seeing this color make its way into Disney merchandise next year. Every year, Pantone hosts a secret meeting of representatives from various nations’ color standards groups. During the two-day meeting, the representatives present and debate ideas for the up-and-coming color of the next year. Well, Pantone has just released the color of the year for 2025! For 2024, the color of the year was peach fuzz, but what is the color of the year next year? ©Pantone The color of the year for 2025 is Mocha Mousse. When describing the color of the year, Pantone writes that it is a “warming, brown hue imbued with richness.” Mocha mousse is an “evocative rich brown infused with sensorial warmth” that “blends effortlessly with any color, enriching each ensemble with a touch of warmth and refined luxury.” ©Pantone Brands love to release products that align with the color of the year, and you can already find a variety of items available in the Mocha Mousse color. You can find Moucha Mousse loose-leaf tea from Tealeaves, Motorola is offering some of its phones in Mocha Mousse, and Joybird is offering furniture in Mocha Mousse. As the year goes on, we will likely see more and more brands embrace Mocha Mousse. ©Motorola Disney also does a good job of staying on top of trends, so we think we will likely see Mocha Mousse make its way into Disney merchandise. You may also notice more people sporting this color in their outfits, so if you are looking for the next trending color, Mocha Mousse might be the answer! ©Pantone If you are planning a trip to Disney World in 2025, you may see a lot of Mocha Mousse! 8. 2024 was a BIG year for Disney movies and TV shows. Inside Out 2 We got new additions to Disney+ like Agatha All Along and Descendants 4 — The Rise of Red. In theaters, you could go see hits like Inside Out 2, Deadpool & Wolverine, or Moana 2. And now that the year is drawing to a close, it’s time to see which of 2024’s biggest entertainment offerings got nominated for awards! The list of 2025 Golden Globes nominees is OUT and we’re so hyped! It’s time to see which Disney films, shows, performers, and employees have been nominated for awards. Good Morning America shared the full list of nominees, and these are the ones that represent The Walt Disney Company. Best performance by a female actor in a television series (musical or comedy) Kathryn Hahn, Agatha All Along ©Marvel Best motion picture (animated) Inside Out 2 Moana 2 ©Disney Cinematic and box office achievement Deadpool & Wolverine Inside Out 2 ©Disney The list feels a little bit short this year, with only five nominations in three different categories. And two of those nominations are for box office performance alone! Deadpool & Wolverine didn’t get any critical recognition in other categories, and Agatha All Along only earned one nomination, despite its popularity. Sounds like it’s a tough year for Disney! ©Disney If you’d like to be more technical, Alien: Romulus also earned a nomination in the category of “cinematic and box office achievement.” That particular film was put out by 20th Century Studios, which is under the Disney umbrella. ©20th Century Studios But even with that addition, Disney’s list is still fairly short. The nominations this year were more heavily dominated by Emilia Pérez, which earned the most nomination on the film side, with ten nods. The Brutalist followed closely behind with seven nominations and Conclave had six. 9. Disney World’s Cinderella Castle Dream Lights may be gone, but they’ll never be forgotten. Cinderella Castle Dream Lights 2018 And, while we may never see them glisten and glimmer on the castle ever again, that doesn’t mean the lights won’t turn up where we least expect them. Disney threw us a bone with this gingerbread version of the Dream Lights, but did you know there’s a place at Disney World where you can actually see remnants of them?! The Cinderella Castle Dream Lights used to make Magic Kingdom sparkle like no other Disney park has since! But, Disney has traded the lights in for projection mapping decorations during fireworks shows, and folks have been pretty sad about it for a while — including us. But, what if we told you that during the holiday season, there was a place you could go in Disney World to actually SEE parts of the Dream Lights for real and in the flesh?! Cinderella Castle Dream Lights gingerbread display Well, you happen to be in luck — because there is! Over at Jellyrolls on Disney’s BoardWalk, you’ll find music from the 70′s, 80′s, and 90′s performed by dueling piano players who are just as talented at improv as they are at playing the piano. The raucous bar on Disney’s BoardWalk brings you non-stop dueling pianos and a drink special each night — and during the holiday season, part of the Cinderella Castle Dream Lights! WHAAAAT?! That’s right, above the stage where the pianos duke it out, you can see a canopy of lights that were formerly part of the Dream Lights back in the day. When we stopped by on a recent visit, a Cast Member let us in on the secret and we couldn’t wait to share it with you. The Dream Lights! If you’re thinking about visiting Jellyrolls, keep in mind that there is a cover charge of $22.00 to enter, which is typically open nightly from 7PM to 1:45AM. Well, what are you waiting for?! 10. There are PLENTY of ways to take your Disney World trip to the next level. Cinderella Castle Luckily, Disney makes it easy with tons of perks and experiences that are designed to make your vacation just a bit more magical than it already is. But, that doesn’t mean that everything is all sunshine and rainbows — there are lots of offerings Disney could add that would enhance your trip even more, and we think this one would be a game-changer! Okay, technically these are three different things that could totally change the game at Disney World, but we figured you wouldn’t mind. We headed over to our Facebook page to ask you, our readers, what perk Disney could add or bring back that would completely change their trip — here’s what you said! Hotel Package Delivery Back in the Before Times (prior to the COVID-19-related closures), Disney World offered package delivery to guests staying at Disney World hotels. Essentially, you could do all the shopping you wanted all day long in the parks, leaving your items with a Cast Member after you purchase them, and then they would magically show up at your hotel later that day. There was no need to lug your purchases around the parks or worry about any delicate items breaking. Let’s go shopping! But, when the parks reopened after the closures — package delivery never came back. Now, if you plan on doing lots of shopping on your Disney World trip, you need to be prepared to carry your packages around with you all day (unless you rent a locker available at the front of each park!). Now you have to carry your things around! We got quite a few replies from folks who said they simply don’t do as much shopping in the parks as they used to since they can’t easily send their packages back to their hotel rooms. It makes total sense to us! If you’re traveling light in the parks without a stroller or backpack, carrying those pesky Disney shopping bags around with you can be rather annoying. Free FastPasses Gone are the days when you could walk up to a kiosk, put your park ticket in the machine, and have the machine pop out a paper FastPass that allowed you to skip the standby lines at a ride during a specific time. Oh yeah, and did we mention this was FREE? Since then, we’ve had FastPass+ (still free), Genie+ (paid), and now Lightning Lane Single, Multi, and Premier Pass (paid). Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway Lightning Lane An overwhelming number of our readers said that bringing the old FastPass+ system back would be a total game-changer for their experience in the parks. With FastPass+, folks could choose three rides at which they could skip the line ahead of their trip — all for free. Heck, at this rate, most of our readers would still take paper FastPasses over the current Lightning Lane system. Magical Express No, no, not the Magic School Bus. The Magical Express was a FREE shuttle service that provided transportation between Orlando International Airport and Disney World. Guests of Disney World hotels could reserve seats and a time on the bus that would magically take them to their hotel. Disney even collected your luggage for you and delivered it straight to the hotel for you! We miss the Magical Express But, as of January 1st, 2022, Magical Express was no more. Instead, Disney entered into a new partnership with Mears (who operated the original Magical Express busses) to introduce Mears Connect — a new, paid shuttle service between Orlando International Airport and Disney World hotels. The service is reasonably priced, but it doesn’t offer the same ease that the Magical Express once did. It seems many of our readers seriously miss the Magical Express, and if Disney brought it back it would likely change their trip! While we don’t see that happening anytime soon, we can completely understand how it would benefit thousands of people every year. The sequel to the 2016 smash has already set the record for the largest Thanksgiving box office weekend of all time, and its continued success has it poised to break the billion-dollar barrier worldwide. That said if you need an impetus to see the film — or see it a second time — Disney is teaming up with several theater chains to offer an EXCLUSIVE free souvenir. Players “take on the role of Illumineers and wield magic ink to summon a team of Disney characters known as glimmers, who appear in both familiar and fantastical ways. The game was designed to be easy to learn for TCG newcomers while still offering strategic depth for experienced players.” ©Disney Beyond those who play, the TCG, Lorcana has also become popular amongst Disney collectors thanks to the hundreds of original pieces of Disney art that make up its range of cards. ©Disney Moviegoers who see Moana 2 at CineMark theaters between December 6th and December 15th will receive an EXCLUSIVE Disney Lorcana Moana card while supplies last. 14. There are THOUSANDS of treats to eat and drink around Disney World, and unfortunately, you don’t have enough time in one vacation to try them all. Mexico Pavilion at EPCOT Thankfully, we here at DFB have tried many of those treats, and we share our reviews frequently so that you know where to go for the good stuff! We have a few favorite spots around Disney World that we recommend frequently, and one of those places is tucked away in the Mexico Pavilion! Inside the pyramid in the Mexico Pavilion, you’ll find La Cava del Tequila, a tequila bar that has a variety of drinks, as well as a few food items on its menu. This is a great place for you to grab a drink with friends, and the line outside the restaurant can get pretty long on a busy day! Waiting for La Cava del Tequila This bar is such a staple of EPCOT culture that it even has several menu items inspired by or created by celebrities. One of those such items is The Lily Margarita, created by model Lily Aldridge, who’s a big Disney fan. This item has been a staple at La Cava for a few years, but now it’s getting a little change! The Lily Margarita La Cava posted on Instagram that they’re now “elevating the classic Lily Margarita to mystical new heights” with a new beverage, The Secret Lily. They haven’t shared what the ingredients of the drink are, but this one seems to come served in a tall glass with some cool smoke effects. Via @lacavadeltequila on Instagram The Secret Lily is, well, a “secret,” so you won’t find it listed on the regular menu — you’ll need to ask your bartender or server about it at the restaurant. It’s available currently, but it may only be there for a limited time! Via @lacavadeltequila on Instagram The beverage is made in partnership with Casa Dragones Tequila. If you’re a fan, you might want to add this to your must-try list for your next trip! 15. Hold on to your hats, because Magic Kingdom is about to go through a whirlwind transformation. Magic Kingdom Not only will we be getting a brand-new Pirates of the Caribbean tavern in 2025, but we’re also eagerly awaiting the construction of a new Cars-themed area — even if it means we have to say goodbye to Tom Sawyer Island and the Rivers of America forever. Disney recently hit a snag when it came to some logistics for the Cars retheme, but now it looks like things are back on (race)track. HA! See what we did there? The new Cars area coming to Magic Kingdom will be replacing the Rivers of America and Tom Sawyer Island — but in order for Disney to do that, they need to make some serious modifications to the existing land. Back in August, Disney filed a permit for 407 Basin Stormwater Modifications. Essentially, Disney needed to build a treatment facility for stormwater drained from the area. Under Environmental Impacts, the permit read, “The project has 7.3 acres of surface water impacts to Rivers of America,” which leads us to believe this permit is for beginning work on the big Cars expansion in the park. The endangered Tom Sawyer Island In September, the South Florida Water Management District (SWFWMD) — the entity in charge of permitting for this project — requested additional information for the permit, with another letter sent a few days later advising Disney it had 10 days to respond. This prompted the Central Florida Tourism Oversight District (CFTOD) and Disney to request a 60-day extension in order to avoid a denial of the permit. Aunt Polly’s on Tom Sawyer Island On December 9th, an email from SWFWMD was sent to the CFTOD granting the request for an extension. Disney has until January 9th, 2025 to provide the requested information for the permit. Permit number 48-00714-P Disney will likely not proceed with any construction until this permit has been approved and will need to file other permits for the actual demolition and construction work to take place in Magic Kingdom. Not only that, but we still don’t have an opening timeline for the new Cars expansion (or the Villains land expansion, for that matter) so it’s possible we won’t even see work start on this project for quite some time. Permit number 48-00714-Pv Hopefully, this isn’t a sign that the rest of this retheme will hit the same bumps in the road, but only time will well. In the meantime, we’ll be on the lookout for the latest news about the Magic Kingdom retheme and expansion. Make sure you stay tuned to the Disney Food Blog so you don’t miss any important updates! 17. A lot’s happening at Disney World, but what’s coming to Disney’s Hollywood Studios is a straight up TON! Disney’s Hollywood Studios There is a new Little Mermaid show and new Villains show coming to the park. The Muppets are leaving Muppets Courtyard in favor of re-theming Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster, and Monster’s, Inc. Land is setting up shop in that vacated area. Speaking of Monsters, Inc., since Disney has a habit of trying to be sneaky with their concept art, we thought we’d have ourselves a little looksie and see what they’ve confirmed for the new land without explicitly saying so! At this point, Disney previously shared concept art for the Monsters, Inc. takeover of the Muppets Courtyard which shows all kinds of new dining, shopping, and entertainment options coming to the land! ©Disney And Disney has officially shared some of the new things coming like the coaster, show, and even a new restaurant. But, as we love doing, we thought we’d take a deeper look at the concept art and see if we can tease out any special info from it. Let’s zoom in a bit. ©Disney As you can see, we circle three things of note. Let’s start with the red circle. This particular spot lines up with where the Stage 1 Company Store building currently sits. Let’s zoom in on the map in the My Disney Experience app and rotate it so that we’re basically looking at the same orientation. ©Disney It looks like they’re going to completely getting rid of the Stage 1 Company Store building, which will ultimately give them better sight lines to Harryhausen’s and the new coaster. But perhaps, more importantly, the building we’ve circled in red looks like it’s going to be a new grab and go! ©Disney Maybe it will be like Anaheim Produce up near the Tower of Terror? Anaheim Produce Now, onto the green circle. ©Disney For reference, this is where the fountain with Miss Piggy currently is. Muppets Courtyard in Hollywood Studios This looks like it’s going to be some sort of reimagined fountain for the land. The statue at the center, however, has us thinking one of two things. Either it is going to be some sort of abstract/generic statue representing all one-eyed monsters in Monstropolis, or it’s a nod to Mike Wazowski. Mike Wazowski Let’s talk about the yellow circle, which happens to be to the right of the fountain and directly in front of where Muppet*Vision 3D currently is. ©Disney This one is giving us serious hope that Disney just confirmed we’ll be seeing Mike’s car rolling throughout the land just like in the film. ©Disney Who knows? Maybe it’ll even be a fun meet-and-greet with Mike and Sulley or some kind of a show that happens at specific times throughout the day. Speaking of shows, since Disney said that the land would have a “whole new theater show,” we think that the current Muppet*Vision 3D show building would be just perfect for it. ©Disney And guess what? It might even be an updated version of the Laugh Floor if this billboard in the concept art is to be believed (and Disney isn’t just trolling us). ©Disney In the meantime, we’ll just have to wait and see what additional information Disney shares with us about this land, so do yourself a favor and keep it right here at DFB, and we’ll keep you updated with all the latest from Disney! 18. Disney World draws hundreds of thousands of visitors to the parks, hotels, and Disney Springs every day — so it’s no wonder the House of Mouse would require that folks pass through security to get in. Security at Disney World You typically just have to walk through an advanced screening scanner device (basically a souped-up metal detector) that can detect whether or not people are bringing banned items into the parks. Disney doesn’t make these scanners, of course, instead purchasing them from different manufacturers. And, one of those companies is currently in some hot water with the Federal Trade Commission (FTC). The FTC has taken action against Evolv Technologies, an AI gun detection company, for allegedly making “false claims about the extent to which its AI-powered security screening system can detect weapons and ignore harmless personal items.” The idea behind Evolv’s tech is that it is easily able to discern between weapons and regular, everyday items one might have in a bag. New security process at Disneyland And, Disney World is one of Evolv’s clients. According to emails obtained by Wired, it was this fact that convinced New York City Mayor Eric Adams to also test out the tech. “As I mentioned, Linda Reid, VP Security for Walt Disney World (Florida) has known us since 2014 and deployed many of our systems at the Parks and Disney Springs,” wrote Evolv co-founder Anil Chitkara in an email to Adams’ office on February 7th, 2022. “They’ve had success screening for weapons with Evolv Express … There may be some interesting parallels to how you are thinking about everyone’s role in security.” Security line We even saw new Evolv scanners roll out at the Transportation and Ticket Center a few years back, and Disney has been expanding its use of this technology around the parks since then. Magic Kingdom Security But, the FTC claims that Evolv’s tech hasn’t been properly backed up. “The FTC has been clear that claims about technology – including artificial intelligence – need to be backed up, and that is especially important when these claims involve the safety of children,” Samuel Levine, Director of the Bureau of Consumer Protection, said. “If you make those claims without adequate support, you can expect to hear from the FTC.” Ask a security guard for help According to the FTC, Evolv “deceptively advertised” that its Express scanners would detect all weapons and made misleading claims that its AI-powered tech makes its systems “more accurate, efficient, and cost-effective than traditional metal detectors.” In the proposed settlement order, Evolv would be banned from making further unsupported claims about its products’ ability to detect weapons using artificial intelligence. It would also give certain customers — mainly K-12 schools — the option to cancel their contracts, which are typically multi-year deals. Security Screening at Disney Springs As of now, Disney hasn’t made any statements regarding Evolv or plans to change any of the company’s security scanners that are still in use. We don’t anticipate this to have much of an impact on your upcoming visit — if at all — so you shouldn’t have to worry about any hiccups as far as the FTC actions are concerned. 20. Both Halloween Time and the holiday season are a lot of fun in Disneyland. Haunted Mansion Holiday Not only do both seasons bring some awesome decor, merchandise, entertainment, and more to the parks, but they both bring one of the most fun ride overlays EVER to a classic Disney attraction. Yep, we’re talking about Haunted Mansion Holiday, which is both a Halloween and holiday ride (hey, we don’t make up the rules). However, all good things must come to an end, and now we know when Haunted Mansion Holiday will close in Disneyland, as well as when it will reopen as its original self. We checked the Disneyland calendar and saw that the last date shown for Haunted Mansion Holiday is January 6th, 2025, with the ride reopening as just Haunted Mansion on January 18th, 2025 (yes, it takes a little while to remove the overlay and restore everything back to its classic look and feel). So if you want to ride Haunted Mansion Holiday before it closes, get there before January 6th. Also, make note that it will be closed from January 7th through January 17th. Haunted Mansion Holiday Haunted Mansion has been through some changes recently, too. When it opened as Haunted Mansion Holiday for Halloween Time earlier this year, the ride had a virtual queue because construction was underway for a new queue and gift shop. Well, now that new queue is open — and it is FABULOUS. Mansion Greenhouse in the new queue As a result, you no longer need a virtual queue spot to ride — there’s a standby line and a Lightning Lane. The new gift shop, Somewhere Beyond, owned by Madame Leota, is also going to look AMAZING — and we’re just waiting for that to open, too. ©Disney We’ll be keeping an eye out for more Disney news, so stay tuned to DFB for more. 21. Disney just dropped a ton of announcements about what’s happening in 2025 at Disneyland. Pixar Fest Banners We got dates for some fun After Hours events. We got more details about Disneyland’s huge 70th Anniversary Celebration. We learned when Halloween Time and the holiday season begins. We learned when the Red Car Trolley would close to make way for an Avengers Campus expansion. We also learned when we’d get to see the first EVER Walt Disney animatronic. SO much. BUT...there was something missing from those announcements: details about Pixar Fest! Pixar Fest debuted last year in Disneyland as a huge months-long festival to celebrate all things Pixar. The festival ran from April 26th through August 24th and brought special character appearances, loads of Pixar-themed snacks, a brand-new parade, photo ops, a special fireworks show, Pixar-themed food booths inspired by different Pixar movies, and SO much more! A Pixar Fest Summer classic! We assumed this would be an annual tradition, but when Disney released its dates for everything it had planned in Disneyland for 2025, Pixar Fest was notably absent. So what gives? Did Pixar Fest get scrapped already? Alien Pizza Planet Truck Bucket at Pixar Fest Well, considering it’s NOT on the schedule, it does seem like Pixar Fest might not be a thing next year, maybe to make way for the 70th Anniversary Celebration. The 70th Anniversary Celebration is expected to last through summer 2026, so that could mean we won’t see Pixar Fest again, at least until 2027, IF it comes back. Alberto and Luca However, the new parade introduced during Pixar Fest, Better Together: A Pixar Pals Celebration! Parade, IS returning in California Adventure. This is a daytime parade that includes nearly 30 Pixar characters from some of the most popular Pixar movies. Inside Out Float But as far as the whole Pixar Fest thing goes? It looks like it might not be happening next year. Disney has neither confirmed nor denied this, so we’re just speculating, but considering it’s not on the schedule, it’s likely it’s not happening. Stay tuned to DFB for more. Disneyland Announces 70th Anniversary Celebration — Including the Return of Popular Parades! Want to Learn More About Disneyland? Check Out the Links Below! 23. We go to Disney World every day, and because of that, we tend to notice quite a bit. EPCOT And lately, we’ve noticed that different generations have wildly different approaches to the parks. Of course, it makes sense when you think about it. But, there’s one generation that’s bringing a weird sort of energy to the parks. No offense, Gen Alpha, but Disney needs to get rid of these trends. Gen Alpha represents people who were born between 2010 and 2024 (ish) — so essentially, babies (if any babies are reading this we will be very impressed!) to middle schoolers. Yes, this is a very “old man yells at cloud” coded post, but we already roasted millennials so we figured it was only fair. And, while Disney probably can’t do much about these things except for maybe one of them, we still think they need to go. The Frozen Fad Needs To Fade Put your pitchforks away! We didn’t say Disney needs to get rid of every instance of Frozen that exists in the parks, but you can’t deny that there’s a LOT of it. There are multiple character meet and greets dedicated to the franchise, plus rides, shows, and stores, and don’t even get us started on the souvenirs. Frozen We love the story of Frozen and you can’t deny that the songs are a BOP. But, you know when you find a new favorite food or song and it’s all you eat or listen to for a while, and then suddenly you realize you’re sick of it? That’s kind of the vibe we’re feeling about Frozen these days. Which is perfect, because we’re still anticipating the third and fourth installments of the franchise to come out. Pay Attention To Your Surroundings This certainly isn’t exclusive to Gen Alpha by any means, but there seems to be a trend of folks getting so into their Disney experience they aren’t paying as much attention to their surroundings as they maybe should be. We talk about not stopping in the middle of the sidewalk quite often, but it seems the trend has spilled over to lines as well. Be aware of your surroundings in crowds and lines! Give others space, people! We know you want to get to the front of the line because so do all the other people in line — that’s kind of the whole point of waiting in one. But, pushing and shoving your friends into other people or getting all up in someone’s business to try to get them to move forward is less than cool. TikTok Is Taking Over Speaking of stopping in the middle of the walkway, please quit making TikToks in the middle of the walkway as well. We’re super thrilled that you feel confident enough to film yourself doing a dance while surrounded by thousands of people, but just make sure you’re not in anyone’s way when you do it. We can’t blame you for wanting to document your experience (since that’s kind of our whole thing, too) but don’t forget to live in the moment — you’re at Disney World, after all! Mickey says put down your phone! Of course, we’re really not here to yuck anyone else’s yum — we totally understand why these trends are popular among Gen Alpha. As long as you’re not disturbing anyone else, do yo thang (oh man I’m old) and live your best Disney World life! In the meantime, we’ll be on the lookout for the latest news and updates from Disney World. Stay tuned to the Disney Food Blog so you don’t miss a thing! No Offense, Millennials. 24. We talk a LOT about food in Disney World. The spread! We talk about the best snacks, the best eats at the EPCOT festivals, and even some of our favorite entrees to order at table service spots. But you know what gets overlooked? Some of Disney World’s AMAZING appetizers. So today, we’re rounding up 7 of the top appetizers in Disney World to determine which one is the best. Sanaa Bread Service For the first item on this list, we’re heading to Sanaa at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge — Kidani Village. This spot is home to some spectacular animal views and an iconic Indian-style Bread Service on the list of starters. It comes with naan and a variety of delicious dips and accompaniments. Indian-style Bread Service If you’re a fan of good bread services, there are none that beat this version! If we went to a party and this was the entire spread, we’d be happy little clams…it’s THAT good. With so many different dips to choose from, you and your friends can rate them all. Click Here to Read Our Sanaa Review! Le Cellier Cheddar Cheese Soup Perhaps the most iconic of the Disney World appetizers is the Canadian Cheddar Cheese Soup at Le Cellier Steakhouse in EPCOT. This Canadian steakhouse serves up some wonderfully comforting eats, but none quite come close to the creamy, cheesy goodness of this soup. Cheddar Cheese Soup from Le Cellier In fact, the soup is so good that it’s served annually as part of the International Food & Wine Festival as well. With those bacon bits and a little bit of bread on the side for dipping, this is the perfect meal to warm you up on a chilly day. We dream of this soup. Check Out Our Le Cellier Review Here! Boatwright’s Dining Hall Pimento Cheese Fritters For our next appetizer, we’re actually heading over to one of Disney World’s moderate resorts — Port Orleans Riverside! This hotel is home to Boatwright’s Dining Hall, which is a real hidden gem with a few knockouts on the menu. One of our favorite items is the Pimento Cheese Fritters on the appetizer list. Pimento Cheese Fritters These things are cheesy on the inside, soft, and nice and crispy on the outside from the frying. They’re served with a creamy sauce and they’ve got the perfect amount of heat. The only complaint we have? You only get three of them! Click Here to See Our Boatwright’s Review! Tony’s Town Square Garlic Bread A SHOCKING entry on our list comes from a restaurant that was broadly disliked until menu changes hit in the past few years. Tony’s Town Square Restaurant in Magic Kingdom added a spectacular garlic bread with parmesan fondue to its menu…and this stuff is to die for, y’all. YUMMM This dish single-handedly turned the tide for Tony’s and made it a recommendable spot once again. The bread is crispy and garlicky, but still soft in the middle, and served in a huge portion. You get a small pot of parmesan fondue on the side for pouring or dipping, and it takes things to another level with phenomenal cheesiness. I cannot sing the praises of this bread enough! See Our Review of Tony’s and the Garlic Bread Here! Wine Bar George Crispy Mac & Cheese Bites It’s no secret that we love mac & cheese like most of the American population, but one Disney World spot does it particularly well. At Wine Bar George in Disney Springs, you can order Crispy Mac & Cheese Bites with your meal. Crispy Mac & Cheese Bites These are cheesy and pasta-filled on the inside and crispy on the outside with a lovely marinara-like dipping sauce. They’re so unique and fun that we recommend them to pretty much everyone who visits Wine Bar George! See Our Wine Bar George Review Here! The Boathouse Oysters on the Half-Shell There aren’t many places in Disney World where you can go nuts for fresh seafood, but The Boathouse is one of those places! And as part of their starters, they offer Oysters on the Half-Shell. The menu is actually quite extensive, with several different oyster options from various regions. Oysters on the Half-Shell You can order as many oysters as you’d like, and they come cold with some sauces, crackers, and other accompaniments. We love to mix and match to make different flavor combinations with them. This is definitely a fancier appetizer experience, but for the adventurous eater, it can be a lot of fun! See Our Review of The Boathouse Here! Homecomin’ Thigh High Chicken Biscuits And last but not least, we’ve got to talk about one of our favorite restaurants in Disney World — Chef Art Smith’s Homecomin’. This Disney Springs spot is known for its amazing fried chicken, and you can order that chicken as an appetizer on their Thigh High Chicken Biscuits. Thigh High Chicken Biscuits at Homecomin’ These cheesy biscuits are topped with pieces of fried chicken, bread and butter pickles, and then drizzled with hot honey. YUM. Honestly, you might could even eat these as a full meal if you don’t want to share with others. (We totally wouldn’t blame you!) Check Out Our Homecomin’ Review Here! So Who Wins? Well, when it comes down to it, our team decided that though the vote was tough, we’d be giving the edge to Sanaa’s Bread Service! It’s just the ultimate version of bread at the table, and if it weren’t for this appetizer, the restaurant wouldn’t be nearly as popular as it is. (Some people go there JUST for this item.) Bread Service at Sanaa Nothing quite beats a delicious bread with a matching dip to kick off your meal. So the next time you head to Disney World, make sure to add this spot to your list! 25. Things are changing all the time in Disneyland and we do our best to keep up with them all! Welcome to Bayou Country Some BIG changes are coming soon, including new stores (some of which have already opened) and restaurants in Downtown Disney. A new Avatar-themed land is coming to Disney California Adventure, along with a new Coco ride. Most recently, Tiana’s Bayou Adventure opened in Disneyland — and we’ve got some MASSIVE news about that ride to share with you! This news is in regards to the virtual queue that’s currently being used for Tiana’s Bayou Adventure. Currently, the only way to ride the attraction is by nabbing a boarding group through the virtual queue or by using Lightning Lane Multi Pass or Lightning Lane Premium Pass. Well, that will soon be changing. Tiana’s Bayou Adventure As of December 10th, the virtual queue for Tiana’s Bayou Adventure will be going away and you’ll be able to ride it via a standby line or with Lightning Lane Multi Pass or Lightning Lane Premier Pass. So if you’re visiting Disneyland on or after that date, you’ll have to keep that in mind if this ride is a priority for you. Tiana’s Bayou Adventure in Disneyland Note that this means there are no virtual queue opportunities for rides now available in Disneyland, as the virtual queue for Haunted Mansion has also ended after Disney opened the ride’s new queue, which was previously under construction (and the construction was why the virtual queue was in place). Master Gracey’s Garden Retreat in the Haunted Mansion queue However, you can still obtain a virtual queue spot in Disney California Adventure for the World of Color — Season of Light nighttime show.
