Disney just dropped some BIG updates, but some major things were missing! Magic Kingdom On March 20th, 2025, Disney held its Shareholder Meeting and gave some updates on a few different areas of the company. But what about the things they didn’t talk about? What important news was MISSING from Disney’s latest drop and what could it tell us about the future of the parks? Let’s find out! Despite announcing a sequel to the hit film “Coco” and sharing a first look at the “Lion King” ride coming to Disneyland Paris, a few things were missing from the latest shareholder announcements! ©Disney Since Disney CEO Bob Iger returned to the company in 2022, he knew he had some incredibly important tasks to check off his To-Do List. But, there’s one task that might prove to be the most integral to the future of Disney — choosing a successor to replace him once his contract expires. Though his contract has already been extended once since his return, it’s set to expire in 2026. We were anticipating some sort of rumblings about Disney’s search for a CEO successor, but unfortunately, there wasn’t a peep this time around. ©Disney And, in case you missed it, there are quite a few expansions in the works for Disney parks both domestically and internationally. Disney is planning a HUGE expansion for Magic Kingdom, the biggest it’s ever done for that particular park. For the expansion, Imagineers are looking to tell stories “beyond Big Thunder Mountain” in addition to the Cars area retheme. Existing and Potential New Parade Path Over in Disney’s Animal Kingdom, Dinoland, U.S.A. will be going away to be replaced by something else. At first, Disney mentioned that the new land could be themed around Moana or Zootopia (maybe something similar to the new Zootopia land at Shanghai Disney Resort). However, more recently, we learned that Disney is leaning more towards theming the area to Encanto and Indiana Jones. @Disney At Disneyland, an Avatar Experience is coming along with a new “Coco” ride, and the Avengers Campus is getting new attractions as well. Even the international parks are getting some love! And, while these expansions were mentioned during the shareholder meeting — we didn’t get any news or updates. ©Disney Finally, we were hoping we’d maybe get a trailer for “Zootopia 2” coming to theaters later this year, but we didn’t get that either. Instead, we got an updated look at the live-action “Lilo & Stitch” hitting theaters soon. ©Disney That’s a peek at some of the things Disney failed to discuss during their latest Shareholder Meeting, which leaves us with even more questions about what the future could look like. What projects might be canceled or changed down the line? Only time will tell, but we’ll be sure to watch for any news and keep you updated! Disney World is one of those places where you think you’ve planned for everything…until you realize you hadn’t. Disney World If you’re like us, you’ve definitely had those moments where you’re in the parks, scrambling to keep your kids entertained while waiting in line or wishing you had a better way to capture the magic from their perspective. Well, with that in mind, let me introduce you to the $36 splurge that made our trip 10X better: the Yehtta Instant Digital Camera. DISCLOSURE: This post may contain affiliate links, meaning when you click the links and make a purchase, we receive a commission. Check Out the Yehtta Instant Digital Camera Yehtta Instant Digital Camera Let me tell you why this camera is an absolute game changer (and yes, this was an impulse Amazon buy, but trust me, this little camera is worth every penny). The Yehtta Instant Digital Camera is essentially a digital camera with a built-in thermal printer. Yehtta Instant Digital Camera Your kids can snap photos, print them instantly (without needing ink), and even save digital versions to the included SD card. Yehtta Instant Digital Camera Let me hit you with a couple of reasons why it was a must-have on our trip: It’s rechargeable, so you don’t have to worry about extra batteries. It comes with an SD card and paper rolls. Out of the box, it’s ready to go. It’s super kid-friendly. No sharp edges, no complicated settings – just snap, print, and go. It’s lightweight and durable. It won’t weigh down your park bag, and it’s tough enough to survive a few drops. It captures their perspective. Your kids get to document their own Disney experience in a way that’s fun for them. Yehtta Instant Digital Camera The one drawback is that the print quality isn’t perfect. It’s more like an old-school receipt printer than a high-resolution photo. Yehtta Instant Digital Camera print And if your kid is trying to capture fast-moving action (say, someone waving from a coaster), the timing might be a little off. Yehtta Instant Digital Camera print But honestly? My kids didn’t care. They were thrilled just to have their own camera and to see their pictures print instantly. Yehtta Instant Digital Camera Now, did it make our trip easier? Absolutely. It gave my kids something fun to do while waiting in line, distracted them from the occasional meltdown, and kept them engaged throughout the day. Plus, since the digital photos are saved on the SD card, we can keep their best shots in full color even if they didn’t print them in the moment. Yehtta Instant Digital Camera So, should you buy it? If you’ve got kids who love taking photos and you want a simple, mess-free way to let them capture their own Disney memories, this is 100% worth the $36. It made our park days smoother, more fun, and even a little more magical. Get it here! In the meantime, we’re always on the lookout for the latest deals on Disney products, so stay tuned for more. Disney held its Annual Shareholder Meeting on March 20th, 2025, and gave updates on several different areas of the company — but it wasn’t until the very end that things got interesting. ©Disney | Walt Disney Company Headquarters CEO Bob Iger participated in a shareholder question and answer session at the end of the meeting and was asked about the company’s plans to address domestic theme park attendance along with price increases. But don’t worry, no price increases have been announced… yet. During the Walt Disney Company Annual Shareholders Meeting on March 20th, 2025, CEO Bob Iger answered a few questions from shareholders — one of whom asked about the company’s plans to address attendance and price increases in the theme parks. ©Disney In response, Iger said that he was just at Disney World on a weekday in the middle of March recently and it was rather busy across the property. He continued and said that consumer demand for the parks and resorts is still extremely high, and so is the value Disney offers — noting that it’s “tremendous” especially when compared to other entertainment offerings like concerts and sporting events. Walt Disney Studios In addition, Iger said that the company’s current expansion efforts focusing on new rides and experiences “provide more capacity and more value to our guests.” There is more being designed and built today around the Disney parks — both domestically and internationally — than at any other point since the company has been in the theme park business. It’s certainly an exciting time to be a Disney fan! ©Disney As far as price increases are concerned, Iger said that they appreciate that the parks create “lifelong memories for families,” and that in recent years — especially since Iger has returned as the leader of the Mouse House — they have provided “several options for families looking to spend less.” This includes the lowest-priced ticket to Disneyland, which has not increased in price since before the COVID-19 pandemic. Disney has also tripled the number of days in which this ticket price is available. Disney had their Annual Meeting of Shareholders, and we got a model for a new ride coming to the Disney Parks! The Lion King topiary at EPCOT The very first Lion King attraction is coming to an international park soon and we’re so excited to get more details on it. Disney just dropped a sneak peek at the Lion King attraction coming to Disneyland Paris! ©Disney This attraction is in a new themed area of Disney Adventure World, previously known as Walt Disney Studios Park, where there will be “dining, shopping, and a chance to meet some favorite characters.” Disney says, “The new attraction will bring you alongside Simba’s journey from cub to king — it’s going to feel like you stepped right into the movie.” ©Disney The ride reminds us of Splash Mountain/Tiana’s Bayou Adventure, and it looks like it will be a log flume ride. We’re expecting to get wet! It’s going to be great during the summer. This is the model they plan the attraction on, so it’s crazy to see how big it is! These help Imagineers plan out decorations, tracks, and the amount of physical space elements take up. ©Disney It looks just like Pride Rock! On top of the mountain, we can see either Mufasa or Simba. The concept art shows Rafiki, Timon, and Pumbaa, but we haven’t seen them on the models quite yet. These animatronics are going to be so neat to see, and we’re thrilled to see how they’re going to do the meet and greets. ©Disney We’re so excited about this attraction opening and about seeing the very first Lion King attraction. It’s set to open sometime in 2026, but we’re already looking forward to it! Disney has been saying that it will feel like stepping into the movie, and since this is such a classic movie, we know it’s going to be fun. Remember me…well, if you’ve been singing that song non-stop (and probably crying like we’ve been), you’ve problably been wondering what the future of Coco is for Disney. Mariachi Cobre with Miguel Now, we’ve already been promised a new Coco ride for Disney California Adventure, but with the movie having been such a hit, all the news we’ve had about a potential sequel to the movie are rumors. Well, Disney has finally confirmed that a Coco sequel IS FINALLY HAPPENING. However, here’s the bad news — it’s not set to release until 2029 (!!!). Yes, Disney held its Shareholder Meeting today and just decided to casually mention that Coco 2 is in the works at Pixar. Then the company took to social media to announced that the second Coco movie wouldn’t release until 2029. OUCH. It’s a good news/bad news kind of situation, but the thing to remember here is that it that a sequel IS happening and you’re not Poco Loco. UPDATE: Disney has since removed the year “2029” from all posts and press releases about Coco 2. We’ll be on the lookout for more updates. The Coco sequel will reunite the team who worked on the original movie, including director Lee Unkrich and co-director Adrian Molina. Mark Nielsen will produce. ©Disney Based on this news, we’re guessing we’ll probably see the Coco ride in Disney California Adventure well before the new movie comes out, but it is what it is. It’s officially happening, though, and in 2029, we’ll be reunited with Miguel, Dante, and the rest of the Rivera family. If you still need to get your Coco fix, though, don’t forget that there’s a Coco dining experience onboard the Disney Treasure, so now might be a good time to book a Disney Cruise. Stay tuned to DFB for more. The Complicated Reason Why ‘Coco’ Hasn’t Taken Over the Mexico Pavilion in EPCOT Join the DFB Newsletter to get all the breaking news right in your inbox! If you’re struggling to figure out which Disney World hotel you’re going to stay at for your vacation, may I humbly suggest the Swan and Dolphin? Swan and Dolphin Hotel Located in the heart of Disney World, these hotels might not be Disney-owned, but they come with some of the same deluxe benefits at a more moderate price point. I’ve stayed here multiple times, and every single trip, I find myself booking another stay before I’ve even checked out. From unbeatable location perks to incredible dining, here’s why the Swan and Dolphin keep pulling me back in. The Price Is Right If you’ve looked at Disney hotel prices lately, you know they can get quite high. The Swan and Dolphin sit in that sweet spot where you get deluxe-style perks without the deluxe price tag. Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin These hotels often run cheaper than Disney’s deluxe resorts but still offer perks like Early Entry and Extended Evening Hours which are huge bonuses if you want to maximize park time. Plus, when you compare these prices to Disney’s moderate resorts, you’re sometimes paying the same amount for WAY more benefits. Walk to EPCOT and Hollywood Studios This is probably the #1 reason I keep coming back. The Swan and Dolphin are within walking distance of EPCOT (and a quick Skyliner trip to Hollywood Studios), meaning you can skip the bus and get to the parks faster. EPCOT International Gateway Entrance I love being able to take a quick stroll over to the International Gateway entrance of EPCOT or hop on a Skyliner to Hollywood Studios. If you’ve ever been stuck waiting for Disney transportation at the end of a long park day, you know how valuable this is. A More Grown-Up Vibe I love Disney, but sometimes I want a break from the all-day, in-your-face theming. The Swan and Dolphin strike a perfect balance. It’s a beautiful resort! You still feel like you’re in Disney World, but the atmosphere is a little more relaxed compared to some of the more heavily themed resorts. If you’re traveling with adults or just want a quieter retreat after a chaotic park day, this is a great place to stay. The Restaurants Are Top-Tier For a hotel that’s technically on Disney property, the Swan and Dolphin have some incredibly good food. There’s something for everyone here, from the sushi at Kimonos to the Italian food at Il Mulino. bluezoo restaurant bluezoo is another standout if you’re looking for a high-end dining experience. And if you want a quick breakfast or coffee before heading to the parks, there are solid grab-and-go options as well. Close to Two Other Great Disney Resorts One underrated perk is that you’re right next to Disney’s BoardWalk and Yacht & Beach Club Resorts, which means even more dining and entertainment options. Beaches & Cream A short walk puts you at Beaches & Cream (hello, Kitchen Sink Sundae) or the BoardWalk’s lively nightlife. Even if you’re not staying at one of these hotels, being this close makes it easy to enjoy what they have to offer. Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin at night The Swan and Dolphin are my go-to for a reason. You get a deluxe-like experience without the insane price tag, amazing dining options, and one of the best locations in all of Disney World. While it may not have the same over-the-top theming as some Disney-owned hotels, the perks far outweigh that minor trade-off. If you haven’t given these hotels a shot yet, they might just become your new favorite Disney World stay. In the meantime, stay tuned to DFB for all the latest from Disney. Okay, hear us out. Sometimes you want cake, but you don’t want a WHOLE slice of cake (like those incredible and ginormous slices from The Cake Bake Shop that could feed us for DAYS). Amorette’s Patisserie So there are a few options. You could just get the cake slice anyway and eat just what you want of it. Or you could grab a cake pop (which is easily found at Starbucks locations throughout Disney World). However, we may have a new favorite way to appreciate cake — the Cake Bar. Now we’ve already seen a few Cake Bar options at Amorette’s Patisserie in Disney Springs, and we’ve been fans. Well, a new Thumper Cake Bar now available as part of Disney World’s Easter treats menu is now available! The Thumper Cake Bar is made with Mixed Berry Mousse combined with Vanilla Chiffon Cake for $8. It’s also got a cute little Thumper image on it. Now most cake pops and bars usually are frosting mixed with cake so you get a gooey filling. But this one is a fruity mousse mixed with cake and it’s 100% better. It’s got a light, fluffy texture, and it’s very moist, which should be the point. Thumper Cake Bar Now, it’s obvious that this cake bar would absolutely appeal to kids (and those of us who are kids at heart). But it IS a lot of sweet, so you might want to share it with a kid. We think it’s also a good value because of its size — $8 isn’t bad for this AT ALL. TASTY! Overall, this is SO much better than your standard cake pop, so we’re hoping Disney keeps hopping (see what we did there?) on the Cake Bar trend. Dessert on a stick? Seriously, what’s not to love? Stay tuned to DFB for more. WE KNOW – there are SO many great snacks at Disney World! How do you choose (we don’t want to choose but will blow our budget on Day 1 otherwise)? We’ve got you covered! Sometimes it feels good to be “bad”… EPCOT Well, not really bad. We obviously don’t condone breaking any Disney World rules, EVER. Let’s be 100% clear there. However, sometimes at Disney World, there are things that *feel* like they should be against the rules — to the point of being fun to “get away with” — but are actually perfectly fine to do. One of our favorites involves gift shops. The concept of theme park rides letting out directly into a gift shop — sometimes colloquially referred to as a “ride dump” — has become so associated with Disney over the years (and often been parodied in pop culture; see an incalculable amount of Simpsons parodies) that many believe it’s been part of the parks since the beginning. However, that’s not the case. The first Disney ride that led directly into a gift shop was the Tomorrowland classic Adventure Thru Inner Space, which began flowing directly into The Character Shop after a 1970s refurbishment. The first dedicated exit gift shops were built for Disneyland’s Star Tours (which ironically replaced Adventure Thru Inner Space) and Space Mountain in the 1980s. Since then, they’ve become relatively ubiquitous. Adventure Thru Inner Space ©D23 So, what’s the trick that feels “illegal”? Heading into the shop from its exit without riding the ride at all! Let’s take EPCOT for example. A vast majority of the park’s attractions and pavilions — Mission Space, Test Track (when it reopens), Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind, Frozen Ever After, and Journey Into Your Imagination to name a few — have gift shops at or near their exists. If you wanted to, you could visit all of these shops without stopping foot on the ride. ©Disney How does this feel like “getting away with something”? Well, in general, you can visit the store and peruse the merchandise without taking the time to wait in a queue or ride the attraction. Even more specifically when it comes to “thrill ride” experiences, you’re looking at the souvenirs without having ridden the attraction all of which is totally fine, but feels just a wee bit illegal. ‘Frozen’ figurine Sliding in the back door to check out a ride’s gift shop without actually riding said ride is totally within the rules of visiting Disney World, but it always kind of feels like it does. Southwest Airlines recently announced a ton of changes to its operations, including getting rid of its controversial open boarding process in exchange for assigned seating, offering premium seating options, and changing its rewards program. Let’s go somewhere! Following Southwest’s announcement that it would be getting rid of its “bags fly free” policy, the feedback has been… unpleasant, to say the least. And now, Frontier Airlines is throwing shade at Southwest by offering free bags on select flights. Frontier Airlines has announced that it’ll fly your bags for free on select flights — to be your “rebound” if you’ve been burned by the end of Southwest’s policy. But, this doesn’t apply to all flights — so here’s what you need to know. ©Frontier Airlines From now through August 18th, when you book a nonstop flight with an Economy Bundle, you’ll get one free carry-on bag, free seat selection, and free flight changes. If you want to earn a free checked bag, your travel dates must be between May 28th and August 18th, and you can use the promo code FREEBAG. Frontier Airlines You’re going to want to hurry, though, as this offer is only available on bookings completed by Monday, March 24th. In a press release, Frontier CEO Barry Biffle said, “Some airlines are walking away from what travelers love, but we’re running towards it. Think of this as the ultimate ‘divorce your old airline’ deal. If travelers show us the love, we’ll make these perks permanent.” Frontier Plane at the Orlando Airport He’s likely referring to Southwest, who recently announced it was abandoning what made it stand out from other airlines and saying goodbye to its decades-long policy of free checked bags. This change came shortly after Southwest announced that it would get rid of its open seating policy and switch to assigned seats. This means that beginning May 28th, 2025, Southwest will start charging flyers for their first and second bag (they always have charged for third and fourth bags). Frontier Airlines When the rule changes, only Rapid Rewards A-List Preferred Members and customers traveling on Business Select fares will receive TWO free checked bags. A-list Members and other select customers will receive ONE free checked bag. If you are a Rapid Rewards Credit Card member, Southwest will credit one checked bag. ©Frontier Airlines Looking for help planning your next Disney vacation? If there’s anything we stress as a priority, it’s that you should consider always rope dropping Magic Kingdom. Cinderella Castle First, Magic Kingdom has more rides than all the other parks in Disney World, so you’ll need more time there. But, also, rope drop could get you a ride on a popular ride with a shorter wait — and all you have to do is get up a little earlier and be at the park when it opens. However, if you rope drop Magic Kingdom NOW, you might find that it’s changed. Let’s talk about how it’s different. So what IS rope dropping? Rope dropping refers to the actual rope that Cast Members use to close off lands when you’re allowed into Magic Kingdom before it officially opens (which usually happens about 30 minutes before the official opening time). Although you’re allowed to visit shops and grab food and snacks on Main Street, U.S.A., you do not have access to the park until official opening, which right now is at 9 AM. Therefore, you must wait for the rope to Tomorrowland and Fantasyland to “drop” at exactly 9 AM. Then you can start getting in line for rides. Cast Members at Magic Kingdom entrance However, some Disney World visitors have a distinct advantage. If you’re staying at a Disney World hotel, you qualify for Early Theme Park Entry. Early Theme Park Entry means you can not only enter a theme park 30 minutes before opening, but you also have access to ride select attractions in Tomorrowland and Fantasyland 30 minutes before the park officially opens. Usually, there’s a Cast Member at the ropes on the bridges to both lands checking resort guests’ MagicBands and tickets. Rope drop crowds So what’s changed? Well, if you qualify for Early Theme Park Entry, you can go directly to a ride and get in its line even if it doesn’t open early. For example, TRON Lightcycle / Run does not open until 9 AM (with the rest of the park), but you can still get in line for it during that 30 minutes before the park opens. Considering the popularity of this ride, this gives those with Early Theme Park Entry a distinct advantage of being first in line for the ride. TRON Lightcycle / Run opens at 9 AM We also learned that Early Theme Park Entry visitors are actually allowed to even get their things put in lockers at the ride at about 8:45 AM BEFORE TRON Lightcycle / Run officially opens. So you could technically use Early Theme Park Entry to get in line for TRON, have your stuff stored by 8:45 AM and be among the first to ride it when it opens at 9 AM. Granted, this means that the rope drop line for this ride is going to be long even before the park officially opens, so this might not be the best use of rope drop if you don’t have Early Theme Park Entry. TRON Lightcycle / Run line at rope drop We spoke with a Cast Member who told us this had been going on for about a week, so if you plan on using Early Theme Park Entry or rope drop in Magic Kingdom, you’ll want to keep this in mind. There is a lot happening in Disney World right now! EPCOT We are getting a major Magic Kingdom expansion, Hollywood Studios has two new shows coming soon, and Animal Kingdom just said goodbye to an opening day attraction for a new attraction coming this year. Not only are the parks changing, the prices are too which normally means a price increase. That’s why we were so shocked (and thrilled) that it somehow got cheaper to eat at one of our favorite EPCOT restaurants! EPCOT has some iconic attractions but if we’re being honest, it’s really known for it’s food and drinks! The EPCOT Festivals, Drinking Around the World, and EPCOT snack staples have solidified it in the world of theme park food and given us several of our favorite Disney dining spots. EPCOT One of our favorite spots in EPCOT is Takumi Tei in the Japan Pavilion! This spot is considered a Signature Fine Dining Experience in Disney World (think along the lines of Victoria and Albert’s) so it’s a pretty pricey spot. That being said, we are huge fans of this sit-down dining experience! Takumi-Tei This dining experience offers 2 omakase menus starting at $250 — until now. For a limited time, you can get a $150 semi-course for both the Omnivorous Course and the Plant-based Course! For a Disney Signature dining experience, we think this is a great deal. Hassun For the Kiku option, the sem course includes 34 items. The Ichijyu-Sansai is sea bream sushi with kombujime, pickled radish, egg york vinegar, and chives. It also has deep-fried tofu with white miso broth and salted cherry blossom and seared bonito with ponzu jelly, chopped chives, and shiso flower. Ichijyu-Sansai Next is the Hassun which is 8 crafted selections. The Shii-Zakana is an option for wagyu steak with a selection of alternative sides and finally, the Gohan-Mono is included. It’s simmered A5 Wagyu chirashi-don with shichimi served with red miso soup or bluefin tuna and homemade pickled white radish chirashi-sushi with chopped shiso leaf and wasabi served with red miso soup. That wagyu! For the Hasu menu (the plant-based semi-course), you get 4 items as well. The Ichijyu-Sansai is temari sushi made of spinach, pickled radish, and egg yolk vinegar with eep-fried tofu, white miso soup, and salted cherry blossoms. There is also wakakusa sesame tofu accompanied by salted cherry blossoms and dark soy vinegar jelly. It also includes Hassun with the same description as above and Shii-Zakana. The Shii Zakana is vegetable tempura and carrot chips, mini zucchini, pumpkin, white mushroom, and hajikami. Menu Finally, the Gohan-Mono is vegetables with chirashi sushi, soy sauce jelly, and white sesame seeds. It’s also served with red miso soup. We have been impressed with this restaurant each time we’ve stopped by so we are excited to see this more affordable menu (compared to the original) for a limited time! Gohanmono Online Disney shared, “Chef selections may include seasonal sashimi, crafted hassun, prepared inaniwa udon noodles, deep-fried tofu, mini zucchini tempura and more.” If you want to enjoy this spot on your next vacation but don’t want to worry about the stress of these hard-to-get reservations, consider using a travel agent! We highly recommend Small World Vacations to help you with all of your Disney planning needs (and the might be able to save you some money along the way!) It’s a great way to make your vacation even more stress free. When it comes to Takumi Tei’s new menu, Disney didn’t give a date as to when this semi-course will go away. We personally hope it’s successful enough that it sticks around for a while! As always, keep following DFB for all of your Disney planning tips and tricks. We’ve Eaten at Every EPCOT Restaurant. Could the Power Rangers be making their return to Disney? @flickr // Disney Dan || The ‘Power Rangers’ in Hollywood Studios You may remember (or wonder if you made it up in your head) that the Power Rangers used to meet at Hollywood Studios. While the Power Rangers may have left the park in 2010, there are currently talks to bring a live-action Power Rangers series to Disney+! Here is what we know so far! According to a report from The Wrap, “showrunners Jonathan E. Steinberg and Dan Shotz (who are also the showrunners for the Diney+ series Percy Jackson and the Olympians) are in talks to write, showrun and produce a live-action Power Rangers series for Disney+ and 20th Century TV.” Season 2 of ‘Percy Jackson and the Olympians will stream on Disney+ later this year. This report states that Hasbro will produce the series. If you are unfamiliar with the Power Rangers, they originally debuted on a TV show in the ’90s called Mighty Morphin’ Power Rangers, which took inspiration from the TV show Super Sentai. The Power Rangers are known for their bright-colored costumes and masks. The franchise was so popular that the Power Rangers eventually got their own film series. @flickr // Disney Dan We wonder if this news means that the Power Rangers could return to Hollywood Studios once again. We will just have to wait and see! As previously mentioned, they are only in the beginning stages of getting the show greenlit, so we will be on the lookout for any more news regarding the Power Rangers’ future. Magic Kingdom is about to look completely different! Magic Kingdom Disney World’s original park has seen many changes in the recent years including the addition of TRON Lightcyle / Run, Tiana’s Bayou Adventure, and an overhaul to the Country Bear Jamboree. Even more changes are on the horizon as the Magic Kingdom expansion progresses with the addition of Villains Land “Beyond Big Thunder Mountain” and the Cars expansion on Tom Sawyer Island. While construction has yet to start on the Cars expansion, Disney recently shared new details about this new area of the park! As a refresher, Tom Sawyer Island along with the Rivers of America are set to close to make way for a brand-new Cars expansion that will feature two new rides. With this new addition, Tom Sawyer Island, the Tom Sawyer Island rafts, the Liberty Square Riverboat, and The Rivers of America are all set to close this year, although no closing date has been announced. 7 Disney World Rides That Will Permanently Close in 2025 Tom Sawyer Island When this expansion was announced at D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event back in August of 2024, Disney shared some concept art of the land along with the “Rally Race” attraction. At D23 in Brazil, we got to see some clips of Imagineering testing the potential “track” for the attraction. ©Disney Well now we have even more Cars expansion details! Earlier this month, Disney shared some of its new projects at SXSW (South By Southwest). One of the projects that they showcased was the new Rally Race ride coming to the new Cars area. Imagineers took a trip to Arizona to take a ride in some real off-road vehicles to help provide some inspiration. They then worked with a motocross company to build a dirt track and work on creating the new ride vehicles. ©Disney Imagineers want to make this ride as realistic as possible, so they are using a customized production vehicle with sensors all over to gather data on how it feels to drive on varying terrain while the ride is in its development phase. Just like Radiator Springs Racers in Disney California Adventure, you will get to ride in a car that has their own personality, except these cars are ready for a spin off-road! ©Disney Along with the concept art of some of the new cars, Disney shared the 3D model that they have been using, otherwise known as a “3D Sketch.” One of the Imagineers working on the project, Michael Hundgen, said that, “Our primary goal is creating an emotional experience for our guests. For this Cars attraction, we need to invent a new type of ride vehicle. No one builds these in a factory because it has to do so much more than just carrying you from one place to another. We have to create a car that conveys a feeling when you ride in it.” ©SXSW Along with what is to come to Frontierland and Tom Sawyer Island, Disney also shared looks at Avengers Infinity Defense and Stark Flight Lab which are two new attractions coming to Avengers Campus in Disney California Adventure. ©Disney We are so excited to experience and explore all these new projects when they open! Ooh, we DO love a secret menu item, especially when we finally get IN on the secret. Of course, we’re bad with keeping secrets, so we’re always going to share those secret menu items with you. Frontera Cocina in Disney Springs For example, we won’t stop telling you about the cheese bread, aka the Pao de Queijo, at Skipper Canteen in Magic Kingdom — you just have to ask for it! We’ll also remind you about the Christmas Pudding dessert you can ask for at Rose and Crown Dining Pub. Well, we’ve got ANOTHER secret menu item to tell you about — a secret MARGARITA. Now, this one, you’ll have to put a little work into to get (but we’re sure it’s worth it). So this secret margarita can be found in Disney Springs, but you’ll have to start in EPCOT. First, you’ll need to book the Tequila Tasting experience at La Cava del Tequila in the Mexico pavilion. This experience includes a certified Tequila Ambassador guiding you through a selection of spirits. Some of these tequila are exclusive to this experience and not available anywhere else in the world. Tasting experience The experience is $180 per person and happens in La Hacienda de San Angel. Do you know about this rule of what NOT to do during an emergency on an airplane? Flying Southwest While you’re in preparation for your next trip to Walt Disney World, you might want to be aware of what you shouldn’t do in case of an emergency (which hopefully never happens)! According to Business Insider, an American Airlines jet recently caught fire shortly after landing at the Denver airport. Everyone seemed to have evacuated just fine, with 12 of the 172 passengers on board getting sent to the hospital with minor injuries. A photo caught the evacuated passengers standing on the wing of the plane, with their bags in their hands. ©Business Insider They might not have been aware at the time — but they were breaking one of the MOST important safety rules! Flight attendants explain before take-off that carry-ons MUST be left behind in the event of an emergency. This is to make sure of a quick evacuation process. It is a federal regulation that everyone must evacuate a plane during an emergency in 90 seconds. Southwest Cabin Geoffrey Thomas, an aviation expert, previously stated to Business Insider, “You’ve got to get all the passengers out in 90 seconds. Now, we’re seeing evacuations taking six and seven minutes because passengers insist on taking their bags.” Be safe when traveling It has been proven that attempting to get your bag when evacuating, can be life-or-death in certain situations. According to Business Insider, a Russian airliner crash-landed and caught fire in Moscow, killing 41 of the 78 passengers and crew, in 2019. Many of the survivors were seen with their bags in hand, which aviation experts believe stalled evacuation. Luggage On the flip side, when a Japan Airlines jetliner collided with a smaller plane on the Tokyo runway, all 379 (5 times more than that of the Russian plane) survived. Aviation experts believe part of the reason was because passengers ditched their luggage.
