  1. Cowabunga dudes! Did someone say millennial memories? A lot has changed about Walt Disney World over the last 50+ years, especially since the 1990s and early 2000s, meaning that there are a lot of things millennials once experienced at the parks that would seem wildly out of place now! Whether you’re a millennial who saw these during your youth or just wish you’d gotten to experience them, the fact that they once existed at Disney World will likely still blow your mind. EPCOT’s Sega Arcade When Innoventions first opened at EPCOT in 1994, the massive exhibit featured exhibits from multiple technology companies across its two buildings. One of the largest displays belonged to Sega. The Japanese video game company had a massive footprint featuring consoles where fans could play preview versions of some of the company’s biggest games, including the Sonic the Hedgehog series. Sega’s exhibit stood through 1999, and over the years featured many of the company’s systems including Sega Genesis, Sega CD, Sega Game Gear, Sega 32X, Sega Pico, Sega Saturn, and the Dreamcast. ©Sega McDonald’s IN the parks While McDonald’s and Disney have had a long relationship over the years, there are many who may not be aware that for a period during the 1990s there were McDonalds locations INSIDE Walt Disney World’s theme parks (which shockingly were a bit controversial amongst some Disney fans). Now, these locations didn’t offer full Mickey D’s, but they did feature offerings like fries, McNuggets, and burgers depending on locations. McDonald’s The 6 were as follows: Frontierland Fries and the Village Fry Shoppe at Magic Kingdom Refreshment Port at EPCOT Fairfax Fries at Hollywood Studios Restaurantosaurus and Petrifries at Animal Kingdom Restaurantosaurus The locations all stopped selling McDonald’s products in 2007 when Disney’s deal with the fast food giant expired. The two have worked together numerous times since, and there are still McDonald’s locations at Disney Springs and near the All-Star Resorts, but there have been no further locations inside the resort’s theme parks. Toy Guns As unbelievable as it may seem now, there was a time when Disney sold toy guns. In fact, until 2015, they were an integral part of the merchandise selection in Adventureland (especially Pirates of the Caribbean), Frontierland, and the Star Wars merchandise available in Tomorrowland and at Hollywood Studios. Pirates of the Caribbean The Ninja Turtles These days, it’s not odd to think about franchises like Star Wars or Marvel in Disney’s parks. After all, the company owns them. However, that wasn’t over three decades ago when the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles were a major part of the early days of the then-Disney/MGM Studios. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles © Disney The Turtles were a major marketing force at the time, having evolved from their gritty comic book beginnings to become Saturday morning superstars with multiple toy lines, a television series, and even a concert tour. Therefore it makes sense why Disney struck a licensing deal to feature the characters in their then-new shoebox park. ©All Ears During the park’s early years, the four Ninja Turtles starred in a daily show that took place in the park’s New York Street section. The Turtles and April O’Neil would roll up in their Turtle Party Wagon vehicle, perform a short demonstration of “ninja dancing” while April performed their theme song, then would pose for photos and sing autographs for guests. The characters remained a presence in Disney Parks, including appearing in several holiday parades, from 1990 through 1996. Turtle Power These are just some of the millennial touchstones that have appeared at Walt Disney World over the years. Stay tuned to DFB for more dives into Disney World history. 2. Welcome to the holidays in Disneyland! Sleeping Beauty Castle The parks are decorated, there’s snow on Sleeping Beauty Castle (and there has been since October!), the Disney California Adventure Festival of Holidays is underway, and we had a chance to check out the first Candlelight Processional of the year. Now, the Candlelight Processional is a little different in Disneyland than in Disney World in that the celebrity narrator isn’t announced ahead of time. So imagine our delight when we arrived at the Processional last night and had a MARVEL-ous surprise! The Candlelight Processional is only held on two nights during the holiday season: December 7th and 8th at 5:30PM and 7:45PM each evening in front of the Main Street Railroad station. That means if you want to see the Processional, you need to stake out a spot early (in fact, some folks stake out their spot when the park opens). People already staking out spots There is a section in front of the train station set aside for invited guests, including VIPs, Club 33 members, media, and other high-profile visitors. VIP section The show features a 600-person choir, as well as a celebrity narrator. 600-member choir As we mentioned, Disneyland does not reveal the celebrity narrator ahead of time, but previous narrators have included Brie Larson, Lin Manuel Miranda, Chris Hemsworth, Sterling K. Brown, and more. This year, we learned it was Agatha All Along, because the surprise narrator was the star of Marvel’s hit WandaVision and Agatha All Along shows, Kathryn Hahn. Kathryn Hahn! Hahn was joined by the massive choir to tell the story of “The First Christmas,” accompanied by the Disneyland Symphony Orchestra, trumpets, and handbell ringers. It’s pretty impressive. Telling the story of “The First Christmas” Songs performed during the Processional include traditional songs like “Deck the Halls,” “Silent Night,” “Joy to the World,” and more. If you’d like to catch the Candlelight Processional tonight, you will need to have a park pass reservation for either Disneyland or Disney California Adventure (and if you have a reservation for California Adventure, you’ll also need the park hopper option added to your ticket so you can hop on over to Disneyland at 11AM). You’ll also want to try to get there early to get a good spot to watch the show. Stay tuned to DFB for more. 3. Man, Disney’s Hollywood Studios has a TON going on right now! Hollywood Studios Muppets Courtyard is leaving to make way for the brand new Monster’s, Inc. Land. Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster is getting re-themed to the Muppets. The new Little Mermaid show and the new Villains show are both coming to the park. It’s a lot! And speaking of shows, you know how Disney loves showing us concept art for their new projects? Well, it looks like Disney tried to get a little sneaky, but there was no way that we were going to miss this one glaring announcement in the Monsters, Inc. concept art! At this point, we’re all familiar with the (heartbreaking) news that the Muppets are out and the Monsters are in. Yes, there is going to be a Monsters, Inc., land that will be taking over Muppets Courtyard. And yes, there is going to be all new dining and shopping options coming to the land in addition to the suspended rollercoaster! ©Disney But here’s what you might not have heard. Disney also shared that the land would have a “whole new theater show” in addition to the brand-new coaster. As you can imagine, the details about this new show are scant and Disney’s being tightlipped, so we haven’t the slighted clue as to where it’ll go in the land. Just taking a wild, but educated guess, maybe they’ll be using the the old Muppet*Vision 3D theater? Will the new show be at the old Muppet*Vision 3D theater? Additionally, we’re not sure if this will be a completely new show or a reimagining of the current Monsters, Inc. show over in Tomorrowland in Magic Kingdom (Monsters, Inc. Laugh Floor). Monster’s Inc. Laugh Floor Now, as we have a habit of doing, we thought we’d take another look at the concept art and see if we can glean any juicy tidbits from it. Let’s zoom in a bit. ©Disney On the bottom left we can see the former PizzeRizzo restaurant. To its right, we can we the show building for the former Muppet*Vision 3D theater. We’ve got Harryhausen’s at the top-center. And wait…what is that we see off to its left?? ©Disney Is that a Monsters, Inc. Laugh Floor sign we spy with our little eye? Now we know that Disneys LOVES to hide things in plain sight in their concept art. So, is this Disney just trying to be sneaky and tell us that the new show is going to be a reimagined version of what we’ve got in Magic Kingdom? Or is this them just trolling us? I mean, that billboard logo looks surprisingly similar to sign for the existing show. Monsters Inc. Laugh Floor Disney, we’re watching you. Always watching… In the meantime, we’ll just have to wait and see what Disney shares with us about this new show, so do yourself a favor and keep it right here at DFB, and we’ll keep you updated with all the latest from Disney! 5. Hello, Hollywood! We’re here to soak in the glitz and glamour of the holidays. Oh, and Tinsel Town is EXTRA sparkly today. Why? We’re celebrating DAPPER DAY at Disney’s Hollywood Studios! The holidays at Disney’s Hollywood Studios OK, so what is Dapper Day? Technically, it should be Dapper Days, since this event takes place a couple of times a year on both coasts. It’s a free (and not Disney-sponsored) event where you can dress up in vintage outfits, chic dresses, or any kind of dapper look. The point is to have fun and get creative (and boy did people deliver today!). This fun seasonal event was masterminded by the team at dapperday.com. 7. How’s the Christmas list shopping coming along? ©Shutterstock If you don’t have this on your list already, and especially since you’re planning your next trip to Disney World, we’ve got to talk about shoes. There’s this one mistake that so many people make when it comes to the shoes people bring to Disney World. We’re talking about not breaking in your shoes long before your trip. The last thing you want is to have your feet covered in blisters because you threw brand new shoes on them and then asked your feet to walk for 20 miles a day at Disney World. You need to make sure the shoes are comfortable and properly broken in before trusting them to support your feet for the thousands upon thousands of steps they’ll be taking daily at the parks. So let’s beat that trend and show you some of the best shoes for Disney World that we could find from Amazon! Let’s jump right in! 8. Happy holidays from the West Coast. Yep, we’re in Disneyland, and we’ve been enjoying EVERYTHING the holiday season has to offer. Holiday decorations on “it’s a small world” We’ve had our first ICONIC Candy Cane of the season. We’ve been enjoying the Disney California Adventure Festival of Holidays. We’ve even been able to see the Pixar Place Hotel decorated for the holidays for the very first time! We LOVE this time of year. We’re also making our way through the TONS of new snacks and drinks that have arrived in Disneyland (y’all — it is SO much FOOD) and we’ve got some more reviews of some of those new eats and drinks to share with you. So let’s get to nomming! Okay, we’re headed to Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge first to visit Ronto Roasters…AGAIN (seriously, we can’t get enough of those Ronto Wraps) to try out a brand NEW wrap. The Pijali Wrap is made with Mortadella Ham, Capicola, Whipped Burrata, and Pistachio Pesto, all wrapped up in a Pita for $14.49. This is a great option if you’re looking for a fresher and healthier meal in the parks. Pijali Wrap The capicola has a touch of spice to it, but it’s not too strong, while the mortadella ham had a smokey flavor. We also liked the fresh and herby taste we got from the pesto, but we have to admit, we didn’t taste the pistachio in it. The whipped burrata is light and adds a nice creamy texture to the whole. A hefty meat-filled wrap Our only gripe is that we weren’t fans of the pita (this would’ve worked better in a wrap, we think), but that’s what you get at Ronto Wraps, so we get it. Inside the wrap Okay, so we were REALLY excited to visit Tropical Hideaway to try the Pineapple-Orange-Guava Tropical Float for $9.29. This is Dole Whip Strawberry and Mango Swirl, topped with Tropical Fruit. Um…first off, this is the prettiest float we’ve ever seen. We’re also happy to report that it tastes as good as it looks! Pineapple-Orange-Guava Tropical Float The main flavors we get are strawberry and mango, although you get a hint of the pineapple flavor from the POG combination. We didn’t really get much of the orange or guava, though. However, everything kind of just blended together, so the flavors created a nice mix of fresh and tropical fruits. The toppings, though, may look good, but the strawberries tasted like they were frozen, rather than fresh. However, that wasn’t a deal-breaker for us. The toppings aren’t fresh Then it was time to get outrageous because Blue Ribbon Corn Dogs has a Pulled Pork Mac & Cheese Corn Dog. No, REALLY. This is a Cheddar, Pepper Jack & Mozzarella Mac & Cheese with Hickory Smoked Pulled Pork Corn Dog fried in Cornmeal Batter and Panko Bread Crumbs and Drizzled with Homemade Blue Ribbon Garlic Sauce & Barbecue Sauce for $15. Pulled Pork Mac & Cheese Corn Dog It’s served with chips, and YES, it is a lot. Also, that might sound messy, and we can confirm…IT IS SO MESSY. It’s messy We’ll admit that turned us off right off the bat, but there also wasn’t much pulled pork, so most of the barbecue flavor came from the sauce slathered on the top (it’s a bit much). We did get hints of the garlic sauce, but that barbecue sauce just overpowered it. The pepper jack added a touch of heat, but that’s about it. The cornmeal was soft and doughy, like it hadn’t been cooked long enough. If you want to get a photo for social media of an over-the-top corn dog, that’s might be the only reason to order this. Where’s the pulled pork? We’ll keep trying even more new snacks we find in Disneyland, so stay tuned to DFB for more. We wore these things ALL.DAY.LONG. and we have to proudly admit defeat in the end. Not only did they protect us from the falling rain, but we also encountered puddles that we quite literally jumped into to splash and had no trouble at all with the water getting into our shoes. 12. One of the most-asked questions we hear is, “What shoes are best for Disney World?” Well, as people who go to Disney World every day, we feel uniquely qualified to answer this. Magic Kingdom Disney World requires a lot of walking, and if you haven’t been in a while, you might be thinking, “Well, I walk around a lot every day,” but Disney World is different. With four parks plus Disney Springs, Disney hotels, and water parks to conquer during your trip, your feet will need support and structure to survive. We are telling you the shoes we think are best for your Disney trip in hopes of helping you have the best trip possible. DISCLOSURE: This post may contain affiliate links, meaning when you click the links and make a purchase, we receive a commission. If you still haven’t tried Amazon Prime, now is the perfect time to help with that holiday shopping. You can try it for FREE by clicking below. HOKA Men’s Clifton 9 ©Amazon HOKAs have become one of our team’s favorite shoes for Disney World. They are supportive and breathable. These shoes are cushioned well to absorb shock while walking. These are a great option for those rope drop-to-fireworks days where you will be doing a lot of walking in the parks. View on Amazon Women’s On Cloud 5 ©Amazon On Clouds are known for their lightweight feel, making you feel like you are walking “on clouds”. These sneakers are designed for everyday wear. We also appreciate that these are the slip-on kind, making it even easier to put them on when you’re late to your dining reservation! View on Amazon Women’s Teva Sandals ©Amazon For those who aren’t fans of wearing tennis shoes all day at the parks, these sandals are a great option. Teva Sandals are classic athletic sandals that feature hook-and-loop webbing straps with padded heel straps. We love the idea of pairing these with a sundress if you are going to a nice dining reservation while out on a park day. These are great if it rains as well because they won’t stay wet like tennis shoes. View on Amazon Men’s Teva Langdon Sandal ©Amazon These sandals have an easy hook-and-loop closure, come on and off quickly, and get you the fit just right. They are lined with lightweight, breathable mesh that keeps your feet cool and comfortable. These are great for men on rainy days or even on days when you know you’ll be hitting up water rides like Kali River Rapids. View on Amazon The Classic Crocs ©Amazon Alright, we totally know that Crocs are controversial when talking about shoes for Disney World. Some may find them uncomfortable, while some swear by them. We love that these can be easy. When you’re headed for a water ride, these are a great option; we even love the idea of keeping them in your park bag to change into if your shoes get wet, or just to give your feet a break. Just be warned — they can get a little slippery when it’s super wet outside! View on Amazon Men’s Brooks Glycerin Shoes ©Amazon The Glycerin GTS 20 is for runners “who think there is no such thing as too much cushioning” but might need more support. This helps to “guide your body in its natural path of motion while keeping excess movement in check.” These are a great option for those of us who might have feet pain in normal tennis shoes. 13. Okay, we’ve got some BIG huge ROARING Animal Kingdom news to share. Disney’s Animal Kingdom So, Animal Kingdom could be the most underrated park in all of Disney World, and not just because the food there is among the best in all four parks. Animal Kingdom is also home to a SLEW of animals, and you can see them on a safari ride, as well as on the many walking trails the park has to offer. PLUS you can even pet some of them! However, a new addition has made its way to Animal Kingdom, and well, you’re going to be thrilled to see it. If you’ve been on Kilimanjaro Safaris, you’ve probably been fortunate enough to see the lions that hang out on the savannah there. Well, the previous lions have gone off to retirement and three NEW lions have taken their spots. The new lion fam The three newbies are all siblings, too, named Mshango, Zahara, and Neema. These young lions have been working on their roars and now they are ready for that spotlight during the Kilimanjaro Safaris tour. We love them, already! Mshango, Zahara, and Neema are proudly representing the future of lion population. Disney hopes that in time, they will breed with members of another pride as part of an overall effort to ensure their species’ survival. We can’t wait to see them in person! For now, though, they’re just exploring their new digs just before their kind makes headlines again when Mufasa: The Lion King premieres in theaters on December 20th. The movie highlights the importance of preserving the natural habitats of lions like Mufasa, and others. ©Disney Disney has also announced that as part of its ongoing conservation efforts and the launch of the new movie, the company will relaunch its global “Protect the Pride” conservation campaign to support the Wildlife Conservation Network’s Lion Recovery Fund (LRF) and its partners working across Africa to double the number of lions in the wild by 2050. 14. Disney adults were HYPED when Disney announced that a Villains Land would be built in Magic Kingdom. However, there are mixed opinions about the new villain attraction coming to Disney’s Hollywood Studios. ©Disney Why is Disney’s newest villain attraction already raising eyebrows, especially when lots of Disney fans were excited when it was announced? Let’s dive into the controversy surrounding this new show. While we have seen LOTS of comments sharing excitement for the new villain’s show that will replace Lightning McQueen’s Racing Academy, some are confused about the location. As well, with recent announcements that Monsters, Inc. Land will be replacing the Muppets Courtyard in Hollywood Studios, many fans are instead hoping that Muppet*Vision 3D could live on inside Sunset Showcase. Sunset Showcase Disney’s newest villain attraction, Disney Villains: Unfairly Ever After, will premiere in the summer of 2025. Captain Hook, Maleficent, Cruella De Vil, and other “fiendish foes ” will break through the glass and transform the stage into the “mysterious, reflective realm of the Magic Mirror.” The show sounds pretty villainous, and people are generally excited to see this new production. ©Disney However, we have also noticed many comments that hope the location of Disney Villains: Unfairly Ever After will only be temporary. Disney recently announced that the Muppets Courtyard would be replaced by the new Monsters, Inc. Land and that Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster will receive a Muppets retheme. Many people have taken to social media to say it would make much more sense for the Sunset Showcase to be used for Muppet*Vision 3D instead of a villains show. A Muppets-themed roller coaster next door to a villain’s show doesn’t exactly scream cohesive. Although Aerosmith and villains don’t necessarily go together either. ©Disney Plus, Disney has already announced that they will be building a Villains Land in Magic Kingdom, so wouldn’t it make sense for a villains show to be there? Jay is thinking so, too! He wrote that maybe the new villains show is “serving as a temporary stopgap (and maybe test-running some concepts for Villains Land).” We could definitely see the show eventually being moved over to Magic Kingdom and Muppet*Vision 3D taking its place. Disney hasn’t announced anything like this yet, but we can always dream, right? Villains Land ©Disney Sahara goes even a step further with a detailed step-by-step plan to bring some more cohesiveness to the parks: “What would make sense: Move Muppets 3D to where the Villains (formerly Cars) venue is…move the Villains show to Villains Land at MK. Move Monsters Inc Laugh Floor to the new Monsters land (tbh, moving Star Tours near Galaxy’s Edge would be best…) and reopen Alien Encounter with Stitch at Tomorrowland because of the live-action movie.” Muppet*Vision 3D Many people agree that it would make A LOT of sense to move Muppet*Vision 3D to the Sunset Showcase once the Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster retheme happens. Nathan wrote, “Hopefully, this is just going to be temporary for a few years, and after they retheme Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster, it should get turned into Muppet Vision or a new version of Muppet Vision, and the entire area by Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster will become the new Muppet Courtyard.” Justin also chimed in, saying, “This will be cool, but hopefully it changes again, and they put Muppets 3D in there after Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster gets its overhaul.” Muppets Courtyard So, while there is excitement for Disney Villains: Unfairly Ever After, there have been some raised eyebrows regarding the choice of where to put the show. It may not make the most sense to be right next to Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster, but we are still excited to check out the new show next summer! ©Disney What will happen with Sunset Showcase in the long term? Will Disney Villains: Unfairly Ever After move to Magic Kingdom, and will Muppet*Vision 3D find a new home on Sunset Boulevard? Only time will tell! 16. A new theme park is in the works with the help of former Disney Imagineers…or is it?? ©American Heartland Last year, we learned that a new $2 billion theme park and resort project called American Heartland was being developed in northeast Oklahoma. One detail that stood out in the initial news about the theme park was that several former Disney Imagineers were included on the park’s development team. But, as excited as we were to see a new theme park in the works, we now have some concerns about the project. According to the initial renderings, the American Heartland resort will span 1,000 acres in Vinita, Oklahoma, and include a 125-acre theme park roughly the size of Disney World’s Magic Kingdom, plus a water park, a large RV park with cabins, a dinner theatre, an amphitheater, a swimming pool, a clubhouse, and more. ©American Heartland The development team includes over a dozen former Disney employees with experience in special effects, technical design, entertainment, and more. ©American Heartland The theme park is planned to have six themed Americana lands: Liberty Village, Great Plains, Bayou Bay, Bit Timber Falls, Stony Point Harbor, and Electropolis. And considering the wealth of experience involved, we’ve been excited to see things come to life. ©American Heartland But it looks like there have been some serious bumps in the road in the creation of the park. The project was initially slated to open in the fall of 2026, with the Three Ponies RV and Campground, which will consist of an estimated 750 RV spaces and 300 cabins, expected to open earlier in 2025. But, two years before the theme park was originally set to open, things have changed. ©American Heartland In September 2024, construction was halted on the project due to financial issues. The expected cost increased from the initial estimate of $2 billion to $2.5 billion, and the developer, Mansion Entertainment, was accused of not paying the bills during the construction of the theme park. ©American Heartland According to Tulsa World, construction has not progressed one year after groundbreaking, and the 2026 opening will likely be pushed back at least three years. Developer Mansion Entertainment Group has also said it is awaiting permit approvals from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. ©American Heartland Several companies involved in the project’s development claim they are still owed money for completed work. Canadian design firm Forrec filed a lien in May against Mansion Entertainment, claiming it is owed nearly $5.5 million from unpaid invoices for design and planning work for both the theme park and RV park. Another company, Crossland Construction, filed a similar claim in May that alleges it is owed $352,429 for labor performed and materials furnished in February for the RV park and campground. ©American Heartland The project also encountered another major setback in May, when legislators declined to approve a requested $35 million for water and wastewater improvements to accommodate the resort. ©American Heartland On top of the financial and construction challenges, the theme park’s location has also caused hesitation in the minds of industry experts. American Heartland is being constructed in Vinita, Oklahoma, which is about 170 miles northeast of Oklahoma City, and far from any major city or airport. ©American Heartland Despite these setbacks, developers say that the project is still on, and have claimed that construction is “a few weeks away” from beginning. But considering the mounting financial and logistical issues, we’re getting concerned about the future of this planned new theme park. ©American Heartland We’ll continue to keep an eye out for any more news about construction on American Heartland, so stay tuned to DFB for the latest updates! 17. Space Mountain. It’s one of the most iconic attractions at Magic Kingdom (that feels like a bit of an understatement, right?) Space Mountain I mean, it’s a place where screams echo, stars zoom by, and every ride feels like a galactic journey. It’s definitely a Magic Kingdom right of passage ride. But here’s the deal, Space Mountain isn’t just about blasting off into space. It’s also about following the rules. We love Cast Members, and we know they work hard to keep us safe while we’re hurtling through the dark at warp speed. And believe me, they have seen it all. So, for the love of all that is Disney, PLEASE don’t break this one rule the next time you’re boarding your rocket ship! Secure Your Phone Like It’s Your Firstborn Child Do you want to say goodbye to your phone forever? This ride is dark, fast, and full of twists and turns. If you’re not securing your phone (or any other loose items), there’s a high chance it’s going to fly out mid-ride and join the black hole of lost things beneath the track. Space Mountain on-ride photo Don’t believe us? One of my friends learned this the hard way. Her phone went on a one-way trip to Neverland…or maybe Tomorrowland’s underbelly. Either way, it was GONE. Use those storage pouches on the ride vehicle, people. Your selfies can wait. Keep That Flashlight Off Listen, we get it. Space Mountain is DARK, but that’s the point! It’s supposed to feel like you’re zooming through outer space. Turning on your phone flashlight (or worse, your camera flash) isn’t just a buzzkill for the rest of us, it’s also super distracting for the Cast Members monitoring the ride. Space Mountain with the lights on Plus, do you really want to be THAT person? So, let’s keep the flashlight off, and embrace the darkness of the ride. Keep All Limbs Inside the Vehicle Raise your hands if you’re ready to ride! But, do make sure they stay inside the ride vehicle. Seriously, don’t stretch your arms out or try to touch the mysterious glowing things around you. Space Mountain with the lights on As we were saying, Space Mountain is fast, twisty, and tight. You might not realize how close you are to the track infrastructure, and sticking your hands, or worse, your whole body, out of the vehicle can lead to some pretty scary consequences. Trust the design, keep those limbs inside the vehicle, and enjoy the ride without risking your safety. No, Your Emotional Support Churro Can’t Come We love a good Disney snack as much as the next person (okay, probably more), but Space Mountain isn’t the place to chow down on your Mickey pretzel or finish that last bite of popcorn. Churros First of all, it’s a safety issue. Loose snacks can fly out of your hands and become dangerous projectiles. Second, it’s just messy. Save your snacks for when you’re on solid ground. You and your churro can have a heartfelt reunion as soon as you exit the ride. Baby churro with chocolate So there you have it, future space travelers. The next time you’re ready to rocket off on Space Mountain, remember these rules. The Cast Members are here to keep you safe and make your experience magical. Let’s not make their job harder than it has to be! Space Mountain So there you have it — just a couple of the “rules” that Space Mountain Cast Members you not breaking! 20. Tons of construction is coming for Disney World in 2025, and it’s time to really break down what we need to expect. Magic Kingdom Yes, we know WHAT’S coming — a new Villains Land and Cars-themed Land in Magic Kingdom, Muppets Courtyard is becoming Monsters, Inc. Land in Hollywood Studios, and Tropical Americas aka Pueblo Esperanza is taking over Dinoland U.S.A. in Animal Kingdom — but what will all of this construction actually look like in the parks? Let’s take a look at the maps — they reveal a LOT. This sounds like loads of construction to begin with, but when you take a look at what areas it’s going to close on the maps, it really becomes quite the big deal. Let’s start over in Animal Kingdom, because this is the only area so far that we have an exact date on when closures and construction will begin. Dinoland, U.S.A. TriceraTop Spin, Fossil Fun Games, and Chester & Hester’s Dinosaur Treasures will all have their final day of operation on January 12th, 2024, and then they will close to make way for the first round of construction. The rest of Dinoland U.S.A. is expected to close throughout the year, and it’s our assumption that one of the last ones will be the beloved Dinosaur attraction. So what will this closure look like on the map? This WHOLE area will be closed Dinoland U.S.A. takes up roughly 1/7 of the park (if you include the entrance and Oasis as its own section, 1/6 of the park if you don’t), and while that may seem like not a big deal, this park doesn’t have many attractions to begin with, and this closure will take out TWO of them. Plus, it’s possible you won’t be able to use the shortcut to get from Discovery Island to the Finding Nemo show to the right of Dinoland, which will be a BIG bummer. Dinoland U.S.A. Meanwhile over in Hollywood Studios, this closure shouldn’t shut off any pathways, which is a relief. Muppets Courtyard in Grand Avenue is already set off the “main road,” which means that the entrance to this area should be the only thing closed off, not the whole walkway that takes you from Star Tours into Galaxy’s Edge. This closure won’t affect walking paths as much The closure will also mean saying goodbye to Muppet*Vision 3D, as well as TWO restaurants in the park, which isn’t nothing, but at least there are plenty of other shows, restaurants, and attractions to visit in the park. From concept art, it also appears that Monsters, Inc. Land will be expanding backwards, in the current green area unused behind the current area, so we’ll likely see the new land be larger than currently shown. ©Disney And Magic Kingdom — oh Magic Kingdom. This park has, arguably, the most going on in 2025, because there are TWO sections of the park that will be under construction. However, construction on Villains Land (marked in black below) is being worked on in a currently unused area of the park behind Big Thunder Mountain Railroad. While it is (likely) part of the reason the attraction will be closed for basically all of 2025, it will otherwise leave the park alone…unless they close the Walt Disney World Railroad for it, which is a possibility. Magic Kingdom has a LOT going on The area marked in red though? Yeah, that’s where the new Cars-themed land is going, and as you can see, it’s going to make a MESS of everything. Getting to Tiana’s Bayou Adventure and around Frontierland and Liberty Square in general are likely going to be more difficult with very heavy crowds, and TWO attractions will be going away to make room for it. That’s a total of three, potentially FOUR, Magic Kingdom attractions that will be unavailable for the majority of 2025, and that’s going to be quite the adventure. Liberty Square Riverboat As you can see, 2025 is set to be an interesting year for Disney World, and we’ll be keeping you updated on all the latest news, so stay tuned to DFB! 22. One of the most consistent Disney World restaurants has made some MAJOR changes to its menu! Come with us to brunch! There are a handful of Disney World restaurants we KNOW we can rely on for any meal throughout the day, but these latest changes made us extremely curious. You know us by now. When there are changes to Disney World restaurants — big or small — we’ve GOT to check them out and tell you all about it. Trust us; these changes might have just made breakfast our FAVORITE meal to enjoy at Wine Bar George. When you’re craving a really safe bet for brunch in Disney World, your first thought might not be to visit the only Master Sommelier-owned wine bar in all of Florida, but it should be! Wine Bar George “George” of Wine Bar George is Master Sommelier George Miliotes. If you’ve grown to know him through his restaurant in Disney Springs, his name might also ring a bell as a former chef at a restaurant we love, California Grill. Atmosphere While Wine Bar George offers a wide variety of meal options, we noticed that there was a bit of a shakeup to the brunch offerings recently. As you make your way over to Wine Bar George at Disney Springs, the first thing you’ll probably notice is just how BIG the outside of the restaurant truly is. It’s a few stories tall and is a humble brick building with a simple sign. Wine Bar George As you step through the glass doors, you’re met by a Cast Member at the host stand in the corner. Your eyes settle into the warm neutrals and bold black colors you’ll find at the center bar… Welcome in …and surrounding tables and chairs. Tables and chairs When you reach the back left corner of the room, you’ll see the exposed metal staircase that leads up to the top level of the restaurant, where you can feast your eyes on another open-concept dining room as well as another bar! A second bar There’s also outdoor patio seating if you prefer to take in the sights and sounds of the Disney Springs outdoor entertainment. Outdoor Seating at Wine Bar George But if you’re looking for a cozy area to gather with family and friends, Wine Bar George has that, too! They’ve also built a room with longer communal tables for larger parties and celebrations, and there’s even a wine cellar room you can request to be seated inside, too! More dining space We could go on and on about how well this restaurant pulls off a home-y vibe of just hanging out with your close friends, but we’ve got to get into the real reason for our visit this time — the new eats! Menu The Wine Country Brunch menu here is available for a limited time during the middle of the day. If you’re looking to snag any or all of the selections we made during this review, you’ll need to know that they’re only available between 10:30AM and 2PM. The menu is comprised of a few starters… ©Disney …boards to choose from… ©Disney …main plates… ©Disney …and sides. If you’re still craving something a bit sweeter, there are a few limited dessert options, too! ©Disney You’ll also have a selection of beverages, including mocktails and cocktails… ©Disney …beers and ciders. ©Disney There’s even a children’s menu available just in case you’re dining with little ones, too. ©Disney The offerings over the weekend on Saturdays and Sundays change to a super limited time slot only available between 2-3PM. Oh, and of course, this restaurant couldn’t have wine in its name without serving over 200 wine offerings all day long! Front of the wine menu So big, in fact, that it has its own front and back menu brought to your table. Back of the wine menu It’s kind of their thing here. Drinks We started off our brunch experience with an Authored in Autumn cocktail. This drink is made of rye, pear liqueur, honey, and lemon for $16. Authored In Autumn This drink really earned its name. It evokes all of the heartier feels and flavors of fall in a glass. The rye gives more of a bourbon feel in its aftertaste but is a bit sweeter when it’s mixed with the pear liqueur. That top garnish! The addition of honey and lemon worked together to create a smooth taste, and it truly impressed us. Eats Our food started to arrive shortly afterward, and we’ll talk about them and the order in which they arrived. The first dish to our table was the Crispy Mac & Cheese Bites. They’re sitting in a shallow bed of tomato nage sprinkled with pecorino. We ordered this dish of four bites for $16. Crispy Mac & Cheese Bites These bites are a past favorite of ours (and you can even pick them up at the quick service window outside at The Basket if you’re not looking to sit down for a full meal). They’re the perfect mix of crunchy and crispy yet cheesy enough to justify the macaroni inside. Creamy mac & cheese inside Each ball is just about as big as if you make a circle with your curved thumb and index finger, and there’s just enough depth to get a few bites out of each — if you can somehow keep yourself from devouring them whole, that is. The Brunch Board was next to arrive! This version of a charcuterie board is filled with breakfast sausage, maple-dusted chicharrones, hashbrowns, candied pork belly, cheddar, Manchego, and a few condiments. This new board will cost you $30 and is easily sharable between a table of four. Brunch Board This one smelled so good when it came to our table that we almost didn’t want to touch it. We asked our server about the changes made to the brunch menu, and he explained that the breakfast sausage had been changed to a few patty slices rather than the thicker links that used to be served. We found this change worthy of its new featured spot on the board, and the sausage has a low-smoked taste without feeling overly greasy. The sausage has changed There were also a few pieces of toasted bread, which served mostly as the base for your board to stack and mix… Bread and chicharrones …as well as a few maple-dusted chicharrones, which crunch when you bite into them. They’re not anything special, just a sweeter dusting of maple to the pork rind, which was a bit different from the unflavored or spicy barbecue you might expect. It actually made them more interesting with the maple addition, and we really would have loved a few more. Going around the board, the condiments served were fresh honeycomb supplied by the neighboring Savannah Bee Company nearby (which was great to see Disney Springs neighbors collaborating on food) and fresh strawberry jam. Accompaniments The candied pork belly really shines among these offerings and is almost a meatier sister to the candied bacon slices you can find in Magic Kingdom. The pork belly had just the right ratio of fattier parts to meat that pulled apart when we dug into it, and the candied glaze surrounding it really enhanced its flavor. Candied Pork Belly There were two house-made hashbrowns that were made out of finely diced potatoes, which were a great addition to the board for texture and a simpler flavor to break up the fruitier flavor profiles… House-made Hashbrowns …and the addition of the sharper cheddar cheese slices… CHEESE! …mixed with the offering of the softer Manchego that seemed to crumble in our mouths was just the right dose of cheese for a lighter brunch option. Our entrees arrived together, but when they did, we could hardly pull our eyes away from the Stuffed French Toast. This dish will cost you $19 and is made of brioche toast slices filled with coconut cream sitting in a bed of rum caramel. Stuffed French Toast If you think this looks like a slice of Heaven, just wait until you taste it! It was divine, and we couldn’t get it in our mouths fast enough! Inside the french toast The inside cream mixed with the rum caramel drizzle reminded us of the Coconut Bread Pudding you can find at Sebastian’s Bistro and Banana Cabana at Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort. If you’re a fan of that bread pudding, this is the brunch meal made specifically for YOU! Last but certainly not least on our list was the Roasted Porchetta Sandwich for $21. The sandwich is made of seared porchetta steak between buns slathered in cabbage & pickled onion slaw and served with fries. Roasted Porchetta Sandwich We’re pretty sure this was another dish made entirely to fit our taste because it was bursting with flavor. The perfectly violet hues of the cabbage are what you’ll probably notice first about this sandwich, and in its defense, it’s kind of hard to ignore! It certainly knows how to command your attention, and we fell in love the moment we laid eyes on it from presentation alone. The pickled onion slaw gave a similar taste to a horseradish sauce, and the roasted porchetta slices were a great mix of fattier areas against a bit drier pork meat, but it had no problem peeling apart when we bit into it. Look at the color on this one The fries were served as smaller wedge slices tossed in herbs and fried until the outside was just a bit crisp. It gave a nice snap in your mouth as you bit down on them. Fries They also didn’t leave a greasy feeling behind and were a great accompaniment to the flavors achieved in the sandwich. Overall We already enjoyed practically everything we’ve dined and sipped on at Wine Bar George, and clearly, if you’ve made it this far into our brunch review, this meal wasn’t one to break the mold. We found ourselves fully immersed in its offerings, and it was surprising to find a mix of dishes that leaned more toward breakfast and lunch than just a late breakfast. Our entire feast This made it super hard to pull ourselves away from the table and gather our belongings to go back out into the world after such an elevated meal surrounded by such a warm, lively restaurant that strives to create a cozy feel. Nosh or Not? You’ll want to make it a point to visit Wine Bar George for brunch if… You’re looking for a comfy place to settle into with friends and family. This is a great restaurant that’s got just the vibe to fit the solo traveler and a full family. When you’re here, its hard to feel out of place because it’s so relaxed yet bustling at the same time. You’re weary of trying new dishes or restaurants. If you’ve been searching for a restaurant that consistently delivers no matter the meal time, this is a solid option for you. You’re not a morning person. Like the idea of breakfast but just don’t want to fight the crowds in the parks or wake up early? This restaurant’s brunch has got your back. On the opposite side, if you’re not big on breakfast but everyone else you’re traveling with is, this is a great restaurant to compromise on. We think you’d enjoy a meal at another Disney Springs restaurant if… Intimate-feeling restaurant vibes just aren’t your style. The tables here are made to make you feel like you’re engaging with the rest of the restaurant or at least a part of it from a distance. If that’s not really your speed, then we’d suggest passing on this one. The menu isn’t terribly adventurous. If you’re looking to try some wild dishes and curated drink concoctions, this restaurant is definitely focused on crowd-pleasing options. Disney Springs isn’t on your list of places to visit on your vacation. If you’re not planning to take time away from the parks or can’t stand the thought of peeling away for a few hours to visit, then it might be more trouble for you to break your original plans just to dine here (although we totally think it would be worth it in the end).
