A jury has determined that the manufacturer of an amusement ride should pay millions to the family of a teen who died after falling from the ride. ©ICON Park Funtime Handels, the foreign company that made the FreeFall drop tower ride, has been ordered to pay $310 million in damages to the family. According to WESH news, an Orange County jury determined on Thursday that Funtime Handels should pay $310 million in damages to the family of Tyre Sampson, who fell to his death on the ride in March 2022. Sampson was spending spring break in Orlando when he boarded the FreeFall drop tower at ICON Park, which featured a 400-foot drop. When the teen was on the ride, he slipped out of his harness and fell to the ground as the ride was descending, which resulted in his death. ©ICON Park A state investigation confirmed that two seats had been adjusted to handle the teen’s size, which allowed him to slip out of his seat. According to the investigation, Sampson was over the recommended weight limit for the ride despite that information not being displayed anywhere near the ride. The owner was fined, and the ride was dismantled. The Sampson family sued ICON Park and the FreeFall’s owner but settled the suits against them. The case against the ride’s manufacturer, Funtime Handels, was the only remaining suit. The family’s lawyers argued the company failed to properly manufacture, design, and build the tower ride. “This calamity of errors, and mistakes and negligence has crossed over from Europe to Orlando,” said Michael Haggard, the Sampson family attorney. ©ICON Park Additionally, state lawmakers passed a new law in Tyre Sampson’s name that enhances regulations for amusement park rides. Our thoughts are with Sampson’s family. Join the DFB Newsletter to get all the breaking news right in your inbox! Click here to Subscribe! Disney made a somewhat controversial announcement by fans’ standards. Muppets Courtyard in Hollywood Studios After months of speculation, Disney officially announced that the new Monsters, Inc. Land will be replacing Muppets Courtyard in Disney’s Hollywood Studios. Therefore, much to many fans’ dismay, Mike Wazowski will be replacing Kermit the Frog in his pond. (We just hope that Mike’s face will be seen on all the merchandise and not be covered up by bar codes!) With this somewhat shocking news, the internet has responded with both serious discourse and humor (probably laughing to keep from crying). Here’s what the internet has to say. Yep, Kermit is being pushed out of Muppets Courtyard by Mike Wazowski, James P. Sullivan, and the rest of Monstropolis, but at least there’s still hope for Muppets fans over at Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster. The new rendition of the ride have the Muppets “teaming up with some of music’s biggest stars for a rockin’ music festival!” So we’ll just have to wait and see how Disney preserves Muppet*Vision 3D, and what’s in store for the re-theming of this popular ride! Yes, we’re the DISNEY Food Blog, but y’all know we love some McDonald’s. McDonald’s Plus McDonald’s and Disney have always had a cool partnership, which means we’re always trying to collect Disney toys in Happy Meals when they’re available (sometimes we go a little overboard with those collections). We are also old enough to remember when you could get McDonald’s fries in Disney World (yes, that was REAL). So when McDonald’s announces the return of an ICONIC menu item, we’re going to get excited. So brace yourselves because the Snack Wrap is COMING BACK! Erlinger talked about the “cult following” the Snack Wrap has. Although he did confirm its return, he did not say exactly when it will return, but you can bet McDonald’s fans will be checking those menus often (okay, it’s us — we’re those fans). The original Snack Wrap came with grilled or crispy chicken with ranch or honey mustard sauce. We’ll be curious if the new Snack Wrap will be the same or if McDonald’s might shake things up with it. We’ll keep an eye out for when the Snack Wrap returns and let you know, so stay tuned to DFB for more. Tiana’s Bayou Adventure has been welcoming folks down to the bayou for a while now, and just when we thought we had seen every little detail — Disney goes and adds something new for us to see! Let’s ride Tiana’s Bayou Adventure! The ride is hosted by none other than Princess Tiana, of course. She’s hosting a Mardi Gras Party for the people of New Orleans and you’re invited! Whether or not you’ve had a chance to check out this ride or not, the next time you do it’ll be like the first time thanks to these new additions at Magic Kingdom. Something NEW has popped up at Tiana’s Bayou Adventure in Magic Kingdom! When the ride first premiered, many fans were upset to see that Ray the Firefly was nowhere to be found. Since Tiana’s Bayou Adventure takes place after the final movie scene from The Princess and the Frog, Ray is dead after being killed by Dr. Facilier. At the end of the movie, Ray is reunited with his beloved Evangeline, the star he falls in love with after mistaking her for a firefly. Tiana’s Bayou Adventure But now, Ray and Evangeline have been added to a scene close to the attraction’s finale in the form of two stars! ©Disney Disney shared a behind-the-scenes look on the Walt Disney Imagineering Instagram page and said, “Imagineers added extra magic to Tiana’s Bayou Adventure” by adding Ray and Evangeline. ©Disney We’re not quite sure if these additions were planned to be there from the very beginning or if Disney decided to add them recently, but either way — we’re thrilled to see more characters from The Princess and the Frog movie at Tiana’s Bayou Adventure! ©Disney In the meantime, we’ll be on the lookout for the latest news from Disney World and more. Make sure you stay tuned to the Disney Food Blog for more updates and announcements so you don’t miss a thing! Cast Members are the ones who really make the magic happen at the Disney parks! Our Disney World trips would not be the same without them. Tiana’s Bayou Adventure Cast Members Sure, the rides are amazing, the merchandise is tempting, and the details throughout the parks are incredible, but none of it would be the same without the Cast Members! We love Cast Members here at DFB, and we actually have quite a few former Cast Members on our team. They worked in various areas around the parks, and we asked them what rules they wish people would stop breaking. Four main rules seem to get broken A LOT, so if you want to make Cast Memebers’ job a bit easier, keep on reading. Here are the four rules that Cast Members wish people would stop breaking: Not Being Where You Should Be There is A LOT to take in at Disney World! The lights, the sounds, the smells, and we totally get that it can be a bit overwhelming at times. But Cast Members really wish you would pay attention to lines on the ground indicating where you should and should not be standing. Festival of Fantasy Parade In attractions, you will often see yellow lines that Cast Members will ask you to stand behind. During parades and fireworks shows, there will be areas designated by ropes or white tape that indicate where you can stand to view the show. Sometimes, the lines can be confusing, but you can always ask for clarification from a Cast Member! Being where you are supposed to be makes their job SO much easier. Not Showing Up On Time If you have opted to purchase a Lightning Lane service or book advance dining reservations, do your best to arrive as close to on time as possible. Things happen, and you may not always make it right on time, but stay on top of your reservations in the My Disney Experience app to make Cast Members’ jobs easier. They will try their best to accommodate you whenever they can, but it isn’t always possible. They really don’t want to be the one to ruin something for your group, so try your best to be on time! Haunted Mansion Lightning Lane Not Respecting Character’s Boundaries This is a HUGE one for Cast Members, especially character attendants and character performers. It is super important to respect the character’s boundaries. Don’t lift the character up or put them in an uncomfortable position. Also, don’t try to get them to “break character.” Have fun with them and interact all you want, but make sure it is in a respectful way! Santa Duffy Not Putting Away Your Belongings We know how exciting it is to be the next person in line to board an attraction. As you hop in a Cast Member directs you to put away your belongings, including your phone. Cast Members are begging you to listen! While you may REALLY want to film yourself on the attraction or have your phone in easy access, it makes the Cast Members’ job so much easier if you stow those items away. There are certain attractions where it is perfectly fine to have your phone out, but just make sure you are listening to Cast Member instructions. Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster As well, if you are ever evacuated from a ride, you will get asked to put your phone away. This is for your safety to ensure you are watching where you are going. The backstage areas often have uneven areas or small walkways, so they want to make sure you are watching. Help the Cast Member out by putting your phone away! Cast Members assist in evacuating a ride vehicle at Tiana’s Bayou Adveture. Listening to Cast Members will be the easiest way to make their jobs easier for them! They want you to have the best vacation possible, but they also want to make sure everyone stays safe and that everyone is treated fairly. Make sure to stay tuned to DFB for all your Disney World tips, tricks, and news! Check out the 5 places that Cast Members REALLY want to work! With hundreds of restaurants in Disney World, it can be a serious challenge to decide where you want to eat. Magic Kingdom And the one thing we’ll tell you? EVERYONE has an opinion! Ask any person who’s been to Disney World (even if they only went one day, 15 years ago) and they’ll have thoughts on where you should and shouldn’t dine during your trip. But as people who’ve made eating at Disney World our JOB, we’ve got the inside scoop on the eats — and we’re going to be honest with you about some Magic Kingdom restaurants. In Magic Kingdom, there are two restaurants that are more expensive than the rest, and they’re pretty popular — Cinderella’s Royal Table and Be Our Guest Restaurant. Reservations for both of these locations fill up FAST, and it’s definitely going to take a chunk of your budget to eat at either spot. Be Our Guest So which one should you choose? Let’s break it down! The One You Should SKIP Of the two expensive restaurants in Magic Kingdom, the one that we’re going to probably encourage you to SKIP is Cinderella’s Royal Table. It’s the pricier of the two spots, with lunch costing $88 per adult and $52 per child. If you’re using the Disney Dining Plan, then it’ll cost you two table service credits per person to dine here. Cinderella’s Royal Table The best thing about this restaurant is that you’re dining INSIDE Cinderella Castle, which is super cool. But not every table is a window seat, so you may not get to look out over the park while you dine. The inside has a castle-like theme, but it doesn’t distinctly remind you of a specific movie or character. Cinderella’s Royal Table Another big draw for this restaurant is that it’s a character meal. During your visit, you’ll meet several Disney princesses, like Cinderella. Others who may join her include Snow White, Jasmine, Ariel, and Aurora. But this character meal offering is very similar to Akershus in EPCOT — which is significantly cheaper in price. Aurora at Cinderella’s Royal Table The big complaint here comes in the form of the food. The eats aren’t exactly known for being spectacular, and when you’ve got the high price tag that this meal does, guests are expecting to be blown away by the food. Most of the menu items are pretty basic and haven’t really “wowed” us in the past. Beef Tenderloin So, for the fact that the food is unremarkable and the characters can be seen elsewhere, plus the high price tag, this is the restaurant that we’re recommending you skip. Instead, let’s consider the other option. The One You’ve Gotta Try On the other hand, Be Our Guest Restaurant is EXACTLY like you’re stepping into Beauty and the Beast. You’ll feel like you’re walking into the grand ballroom from the movie with the opulent decor and attention to detail that the Imagineers put into this place. Be Our Guest Restaurant We think the atmosphere here is overall more stunning, even when compared to being inside Cinderella Castle. As far as characters go, it’s not a character meal, but you can see the Beast walk through the dining room from time to time — he may not stop for photos or autographs but he’s impressive to spot. The Beast at Be Our Guest Restaurant The price here is a smidge more affordable than Cinderella’s Royal Table, but still fairly expensive. Adults are $72 per person for lunch, while children are $43 each. Like Cinderella’s, this place also serves a prix fixe menu, and the meal will cost you 2 table service credits on the Disney Dining Plan. Food at Be Our Guest However, the menu here tends to stand out to us more overall. We’ve had some average meals in this restaurant, but we’ve also had some pretty spectacular ones! Some of the entrees and appetizers in particular have really impressed us in the past. Menu front Ultimately, we usually leave Be Our Guest a bit more impressed and satisfied than we do at Cinderella’s Royal Table. The meal here feels overall less rushed and more thoughtful, and just enjoying the atmosphere of the restaurant can be worth the price. So there you have it — the expensive restaurant that we recommend you try in Magic Kingdom! Stay tuned to DFB for more news and updates from Disney World. Click Here for Our Be Our Guest Review! In the midst of what seems like the slow, agonizing death of chain restaurants, a beacon of hope has emerged. ©CHI-CHI’S A long-defunct Mexican restaurant chain is set to reopen its doors after being out of the biz for nearly 20 years. CHI-CHI’S traded in restaurants for grocery store salsa — but that’s all about to change. Here’s what we know. Twenty years after the final CHI-CHI’S restaurant closed its doors, the once popular Mexican food chain is getting another chance. The founder’s son, Michael McDermott, plans to revive the restaurant with an updated version of the iconic brand through an agreement with Hormel Foods. ©CHI-CHI’S Hormel is the current owner of CHI-CHI’S trademarks, which currently sells several different products you can likely find in your local grocery store. The deal allows McDermott to use the CHI-CHI’S name on his physical restaurant locations — set to open in 2025. CHI-CHI’S was founded by Marno McDermott and former Green Bay Packers player Max McGee in 1975 and quickly grew to more than 200 locations nationwide before eventually closing in 2004 due to leadership changes. ©People Michael McDermott has built a career in the restaurant industry with Kona Grill and Rojo Mexican Grill and is “determined to honor his family’s legacy by combining the classic CHI-CHI’S restaurant experience with modern influences. “I still have fond memories of growing up in the CHI-CHI’S restaurants that my father built throughout their time, instilling in me the passion and determination to pursue my own career in the restaurant industry,” McDermott said. “We have seen the impact our restaurant has had on individuals and families across the country and believe there is a strong opportunity to bring the brand back in a way that resonates with today’s consumer – an updated dining experience with the same great taste and Mexican flavor.” Michael McDermott is determined to honor his family’s legacy by combining the classic CHI-CHI’S restaurant experience with modern influences “Although there has not been a Chi-Chi’s restaurant in the United States in 20 years, McDermott believes the brand holds a special place in the hearts of those who remember its heyday and remains popular among consumers nationwide who enjoy its packaged salsas, tortillas, and seasonings, which will continue to be available as new restaurant locations open,” Chi-Chi’s said. ©CHI-CHI’S Well, it sounds like as soon as locations are announced we need to plan a trip. The stage is set. The portals are in place. Univiersal’s Epic Universe theme park is about to open. We’re just a few short months away from the big opening day, which falls on May 22nd, 2025. Are you ready? Universal Orlando From the DRAGON-filled How To Train Your Dragon land to a NEW Harry Potter land, there will be SO MUCH to explore. Before the park opens, though, Universal has a few more things to do, like, say, hire some Team Members to help bring the park to life. Could this new audition notice give us a clue about what’s coming to Epic Universe? Let’s talk about it! OK, before we dive in, we should give you a little background. Epic Universe will host five different themed lands, including Celestial Park, The Wizarding World of Harry Potter – Ministry of Magic, SUPER NINTENDO WORLD, How to Train Your Dragon – Isle of Berk, and Dark Universe. Each land will have its own rides, restaurants, and characters. ©Universal Now, let us turn our attention to The Wizarding World of Harry Potter – Ministry of Magic. This NEW Harry Potter-inspired land will have a distinctly French style, with new dining and a new attraction inspired by the Ministry of Magic. ©Universal Based on the concept art, the land will be Parisian-inspired, with a touch of that classic Harry Potter magic. We even see a student from the Beauxbatons Academy of Magic (a French magic school) taking a photo with some visitors! ©Universal That brings us to the latest update. Over on the Villa Creative Auditions website, there is a new casting call for musicians. The notice explains that Villa Creative is “seeking talented and charismatic musicians for a brand new theme park show!” Now, the notice does not specify a theme park, but based on a few clues, we think this could be a casting call for Epic Universe. In fact, the Villa Creative agency has worked with Universal in the past! ©Villa Creative There are a few noteworthy clues in this casting call. First, under the “Required Skillset” section of the casting call, one of the requirements is the “ability to speak with a passable French accent.” We know that the Ministry of Magic land is set in France, but could this just be a coincidence? Well, we dug a little deeper and noticed something else. ©Universal Interested musicians must submit an audition tape and choose from one of the following lines to showcase their ability to speak with a French accent. Here are the lines: “I once enchanted an exquisite [your instrument] to play like me, but it nearly fell in love with itself! A tragic tale, yes. But…such is the cost of perfection.” “Yes, my enchanted [your instrument] does turn its own pages. And it refuses to play anything but Debussy! What can I say? It has taste!” “We have a few songs that you might find…enchanting to the ear. Symphonies that seem supernatural. Arrangements that are…well, I can’t think of an ‘A’ word for that one, but the arrangements are quite good too!” Hmm…there seems to be an emphasis on “enchanting” instruments and songs. Almost like the person reading the lines is…a wizard? ©Universal Even the timeline fits within Universal’s opening timeline! The preliminary round of online submissions ends on December 6th, 2024, and the final round of live auditions in Orlando happens on January 5th, 2025. Rehearsals are set to begin mid-January, which gives those selected plenty of time to prepare for Epic Universe’s opening date in May. ©Universal Now, this is all just speculation — the audition notice doesn’t even specify a theme park! But based on what we know about Epic Universe, it seems like an awfully big coincidence that an Orlando talent agency is looking for performers to play a magical French musician, right? In the meantime, we’re always on the lookout for the latest theme park news, so stay tuned for more. Universal’s Epic Universe — Universal Orlando Resort Read more: DFB's complete guide to Universal’s Epic Universe >> Do you think this is a clue? Let us know in the comments! The post Wait. Let’s face it – Disney’s Hollywood Studios has a lot of stuff going on right now! Hollywood Studios They’re going to be re-theming the Muppets Courtyard to the new Monsters, Inc. Land, re-theming Rock ‘n’ Rollercoaster to a Muppets Coaster, opening not one, but two new shows (Little Mermaid and a Villains show), and more. But there’s this one attraction that’s feeling like a serious dud right now, and honestly people are over it! As we were saying, amidst all the changes coming to Hollywood Studios, there’s this one attraction that is just, shall we say its best days are behind it (long, long ago). We’re talking about Star Wars Launch Bay and how it’s just not the most well loved attraction at Hollywood Studios. Star Wars Launch Bay Once Cool, Now… Do you remember when Star Wars Launch Bay first opened? It was a pretty big deal. We were getting a whole space dedicated to Star Wars superfans where you could nerd out over film props, collectibles, and meet your favorite characters. But now, it’s really starting to feel like just an afterthought. Star Wars Launch Bay For one thing, Launch Bay hasn’t really changed much since it opened in 2015. Sure, it’s still home to some cool stuff, like the Darth Vader Visa Cardmember meet-and-greet (which, let’s be real, is more niche than mainstream). But aside from that, there’s not much drawing people in anymore. Darth Vader at Star Wars Launch Bay in Hollywood Studios And the worst part is that it’s smack in the middle of a park that’s already throughly and completely elevated its Star Wars game with Galaxy’s Edge. You’ve got Rise of the Resistance and Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run just a few steps away, and those are truly next-level. Compared to that, Launch Bay just can’t compete, and people are noticing. Not to mention, it’s on the complete other end of the park. Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge Also, if you take a stroll through social media, and you’ll see the verdict: Star Wars Launch Bay is just…not “it” anymore. We’ve seen many a Disney guest call it “boring,” “outdated,” and “a waste of valuable park space.” Star Wars Launch Bay And to be honest, it’s not just about the lack of excitement. There’s also the issue of space efficiency. Hollywood Studios is a busy park, and many guests feel like Launch Bay’s footprint could be better used for, well, literally anything else. What’s Next for Launch Bay? Here’s the thing: Disney hasn’t made any big announcements about what’s happening to Launch Bay, so for now, it’s sticking around, but with its rapidly dwindling popularity, it’s hard not to wonder if Disney might eventually decide to give it the boot or revamp it into something fresh and exciting. Star Wars Launch Bay If they’re going to stick with the Star Wars theme, one possibility is that they could transform it into an interactive Star Wars experience that complements Galaxy’s Edge instead of competing with it. But more than likely, once this is replaced, the Star Wars theme will go down the gutter with it. Meanwhile, Over at Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster… Speaking of changes, can we take a moment to talk about Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster? You know how Disney recently announced that the Aerosmith theme is on its way out, and guess what? Almost no one is upset about it. Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster In fact, the buzz around its Muppets re-theme is overwhelmingly positive. The idea of zooming through a chaotic Muppets-themed adventure sounds so much more fun than reliving the late-’90s music video vibes of Aerosmith. ©Disney Now, this re-theme news is a perfect example of how Disney can successfully refresh an attraction to keep it relevant. (Maybe Launch Bay could take notes?) We were quite shocked when most of our comments were filled with finally, and it’s Aerosmith’s time to go vibes. Especially since Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster still tends to hold a pretty hefty wait time! In the meantime, make sure to continue to follow along with Disney Food Blog for all the latest Disney news! Given Walt’s longtime admiration of the 16th President, it’s appropriate that the animatronic versions of the two will share a venue. ©Disney Now, Disney has announced that the show will open on May 16th, 2025! You’ll be able to catch it inside the Main Street Opera House theater, where it will take you on a “cinematic presentation of Walt Disney’s journey, culminating in a visit with Walt in his office.” This will be the FIRST time we get an animatronic version of Walt Disney. Disneyland Speaking about the Animatronic at D23, Disney Experiences Chairman Josh D’Amaro said of the animatronic “I speak for our entire team when I say there is so much pride and excitement for everyone involved in this endeavor. Creating our first Walt figure is a huge responsibility, and we’ve brought members of the Disney family along with us for every step of the journey.” We can’t wait to check out this show for ourselves! At this point, I’m sure you’ve heard all about the changes that Disney’s about to make to Hollywood Studios! Hollywood Studios And of course, we’re talking about how the Muppets Courtyard (RIP) is going to be re-themed to an all-new Monsters, Inc. Land. Now, one of the things that didn’t hit us immediately when we heard the news, like the thought that we may never see Muppet*Vision 3D in the parks again, just came to mind. So let’s have a quick chat about how it’s time for us to say goodbye to one of our favorite bathrooms in all of Hollywood Studios! As we were saying, you know that Disney isn’t just about the rides, food, and shows. It’s also about the bathrooms! Yes, the bathrooms. And with the transformation of Muppets Courtyard into the new Monsters, Inc. Land, it looks like the Muppets Courtyard bathrooms in Disney’s Hollywood Studios are about to get a permanent makeover. Muppet Courtyard Restrooms While we don’t know exactly how much re-theming will happen, we’re pretty sure these bathrooms will be getting a monstrous (pun intended) facelift. So, we’re here to appreciate these iconic restrooms before they vanish like Beaker in an explosion experiment. A Tribute to the Muppets Courtyard Bathrooms If you’ve ever stopped by the Muppets Courtyard bathrooms, you know they’re not your average park potty. This place is peak Disney Imagineering, folks. Muppet Courtyard Restrooms sign From the cheeky signs to the subtle nods to general Muppet mayhem, it’s like a hidden gem of hilarity tucked into your bathroom break. Gonzo’s Royal Flush advertisement And let’s not forget their prime location! Whether you’ve been cracking up at Muppet*Vision 3D or grabbing a snack at PizzeRizzo (where the pizza is almost as memorable as the puns), these restrooms are perfectly placed for a quick stop in a relatively quiet part of the park. What’s Next for Monsters, Inc. Land? While we’re still shedding a tear for the Muppets Courtyard bathrooms, we’re also kind of intrigued to see what Disney has up its sleeve for Monsters, Inc. Land. Will these bathrooms be reimagined with doors to the Scare Floor? Maybe some cute nods to Boo and Sulley? One thing’s for sure: Disney’s Imagineers rarely miss a chance to surprise us. We’re sure we’ll have to pay attention to even the smallest details. ©Disney But still, we can’t deny that these bathrooms hold a special place in our hearts (and our bladders). It’s tough to say goodbye to something so uniquely Muppet-y, even if it’s for a land dedicated to another Disney franchise we love. Muppets Bathroom, You Will Be Missed So, here’s to you, Muppets Courtyard bathrooms. Thanks for all the giggles, the clever details, and the air conditioning on hot Florida days. You might be going away, but you’ll always live on in our hearts. And who knows, maybe one day, Disney will find a way to bring back your Muppets magic in another part of the park, maybe over near the Rock ‘n’ Rollercoaster since the Muppets will be taking over that attraction. So you’ve done it…you’ve finally planned that Disney World holiday trip you’ve always dreamed of. Orlando Airport You’ve figured out where you’re staying and you’ve bought tickets to Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party or Jollywood Nights. You’ve made plans to see the fun gingerbread displays at Disney World hotels. You’re ready to eat ALL the things at the EPCOT Festival of the Holidays and enjoy the Candlelight Processional. However, if you haven’t yet booked your flight to Disney World, it could be a bit more difficult this year than in previous years. According to the Orlando Business Journal, fewer flights are heading to the Orlando International Airport this holiday season than in previous years. How many less? Well, it’s a LOT. Compared to last year, 4,151 fewer flights are heading to Orlando this holiday season. OUCH. This is because officials believe holiday travel will be lighter to to the area than last year. ©Orlando International Airport This is pretty interesting because across the U.S., airports are expecting to break travel records for the holiday season AND major airlines have seen strong demand for travel during this time of year. But that’s just not the case for Orlando. Scheduled flights are down 8% from this time last year, while seats are also down 8%. Interestingly enough, travel for Thanksgiving this year was also predicted to be lighter. Spirit Airlines at Orlando Airport So what’s going on? Is travel to Orlando, in general, slowing down? Who knows? A lot of big changes and updates are coming to both Universal Orlando Resort and Disney World in 2025, so maybe folks are waiting until those changes are made before they travel to these destinations again. It’s also typically much more expensive to visit Disney World this time of year, and perhaps, that’s keeping travelers away, at least from Disney World. Whatever the case, it is interesting that Orlando seems to be impacted more than other airports. Stay tuned to DFB for more.
