Disney Cruise Line vacations are wonderful to many people, but there are also lots of people out there who say that they’re definitely NOT cruise people. Disney Wonder Some say it’s because they’re more go-go-go on vacation and don’t like the idea of sitting around and “doing nothing” while others may get seasick easily and a cruise therefore sounds like their worst nightmare. For others though, it’s because they think of cruises as walking petri dishes, and being stuck on a ship with all those germs and no route of escape sounds terrifying. While some cruise lines certainly score low on their federal inspection scores, Disney Cruise Line is one of the cleanest cruise lines, consistently getting some of the highest scores. But what EXACTLY does that look like? Did you know that you can look up the most recent (and past) Sanitation Program scores for ALL cruise ships on the CDC website? Yes, that includes all the Disney Cruise Line ships, as well as other cruise lines you may be thinking of sailing. Any ship that gets below a score of 85 or lower are considered unsatisfactory and must be fixed as soon as humanly possible. Disney Wish So where does Disney score on that, you may ask? Well, taking a look at the most recent sanitation reports from each Disney Cruise Line ship (minus the ships that have not publicly sailed yet, such as the Disney Treasure), the Disney Wish has the LOWEST score of 95 with its last inspection done on May 27th, 2024 (which is intriguing since this is one of the newer ships, having set sail on July 14th, 2022). The highest score, however, is a perfect 100 made by the Disney Fantasy (which set sail on March 31st, 2012) on their last inspection date, January 24th, 2024. The remaining three ships land between 96 and 99. ©CDC This means that all of Disney’s ships are well above the “unacceptable” 85 or lower score, but there is something to note here that we find interesting. We looked back at data from January 2022 to December 2023 to see what the most recent past scores are, and here, the lowest scores were the Disney Wonder and Disney Wish both with a 96 — all other scores were either 99 or 100! ©CDC Does this mean Disney’s cleaning standards have gone down? It’s hard to say, but it’s clear that the ships are still kept extremely clean and don’t let their scores drop anywhere close to 85. However, this doesn’t mean you WON’T get sick on or after your Disney Cruise — be sure you wash your hands thoroughly before eating, don’t leave your room or visit the infirmary if you’re not feeling well as to not spread your germs, and be sure to bring some medication if you know that changes in climate often cause allergies or sinus issues for you. The Disney Cruise Line fleet is ever expanding! ©Disney They are currently at five ships, but by 2031, the Disney Cruise Line will have 13 ships. And if you’re looking to book a sailing on the Disney Cruise Line, well, you’ve got your work cut out for you with trying to figure out which ship you’ll want to sail on. So, to try and make things a bit easier for you, let’s go over the 3 types of Disney Cruise Line Ships and the big advantages of each! As we were saying, the Disney Cruise Line currently has 5 ships that are sailing, but we can make things even simpler for you by putting them into three “classes” of ships. Magic Class (Disney Magic, Disney Wonder) Dream Class (Disney Dream, Disney Fantasy) Wish Class (Disney Wish, Disney Treasure, and Disney Destiny) Each class of ship was designed with a specific purpose, layout, and style to cater to different Disney cruising experiences. Kids and adults alike love the AquaDuck, as it’s an adventurous experience, but not too intense. Virtual Portholes: In a world-first, Disney introduced “virtual portholes” in the inside cabins of the Dream Class ships, allowing guests in windowless cabins to experience a “view.” These portholes are screens that display a live feed of the outside, giving the illusion of an actual porthole. Plus, you might see animated Disney characters “swim” by, adding a little magic to your stay. For cruisers who prefer a more personal experience or don’t want to deal with large crowds, these ships are a great fit. Specialized, Destination-Intensive Itineraries: Due to their smaller size, Disney Wonder and Disney Magic are often used for more unique routes. Disney Magic spends summers in Europe, giving guests the chance to explore cities like Barcelona and Rome, while Disney Wonder heads to Alaska, with its jaw-dropping landscapes and wildlife. AquaDunk: These ships also have their own signature experiences. The AquaDunk slide, for example, takes you down a 37-foot drop that actually swings out over the side of the ship! Disney Wonder also boasts the French Quarter Lounge, a New Orleans-inspired venue with themed entertainment. Character Dining and Rotational Dining Experiences: Disney’s rotational dining system is also aboard the Magic Class and lets you experience multiple themed restaurants on your cruise, with your waitstaff following you from place to place. Disney Magic Cruise Ship Itineraries: Disney uses the Magic Class ships for some of its most interesting and diverse routes. Gobble gobble gobble, hip hip hooray — It’s finally Thanksgiving day! Yup, it’s time to feast on a delicious meal, score the latest shopping deals, and…..check if heavy Thanksgiving park crowds are real. Magic Kingdom We’ve been talking nonstop about Thanksgiving travel news and tips, so we’re hitting up Disney World to see what it’s like to spend a day at the parks on a big holiday. Here’s a look at what we encountered today at the most magical place on earth. Sure enough, Main Street, U.S.A. was humming with people. We will say, though, this isn’t the most crowded we’ve seen this park. That would probably be New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day. It’s hopping Walking down Main Street, U.S.A. did require some patience, though. Yep, it’s busy By the time we made it over to Tomorrowland, we were seeing some pretty long lines for rides. Lines for rides Pretty much all of Magic Kingdom was pretty crowded. Crowded pretty much everywhere Wait times for rides were starting to creep up while we were there. Astro Orbiter had a wait time of 40 minutes. Wait times are getting up there. Other wait times were over an hour, like Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, Jingle Cruise, Space Mountain, Peter Pan’s Flight, and Seven Dwarfs Mine Train. Hour and longer waits We saw similar high wait times at other parks. For example, the standby line for Slinky Dog Dash was already up to 80 minutes in Disney’s Hollywood Studios. It’s busy in Hollywood Studios, too Over in Disney’s Animal Kingdom, folks were waiting a little less, but they were still waiting. Animal Kingdom is also busy If you’re planning on visiting the parks for the upcoming holidays, here are a few tips we suggest trying out to make your day a little easier: Take advantage of mobile orders and make sure to do so as early as possible If you’re staying at a Disney World hotel with perks like Early Theme Park Entry or Extended Evening Hours, make sure to use them Use the My Disney Experience app to stay updated on ride closures, wait times, last-minute reservations, and more. Patience will be your best friend. Make sure to enjoy your time and have fun! Disney’s Lights, Motors, Action! Extreme Stunt Show closed on April 2nd, 2016 at Hollywood Studios to make way for expansions to Toy Story Land and, eventually, Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge. Disney’s Hollywood Studios The Lights, Motors, Action! Extreme Stunt Show took place in the Streets of America (RIP) backlot area and brought the audience behind the scenes filming an epic stunt scene from a fabricated action movie. And, although it no longer exists at Disney World (or Disneyland Paris, where it originated) — there’s still one place where you can go and see it. Disney’s Lights, Motors, Action! Extreme Stunt Show centered around filming a spy thriller with production crew members, stunt managers, a director, and an assistant director on a “live” set. By shooting scenes “out of sequence,” the director was able to set up different stunts for the audience. After each scene was “filmed,” the director combined the shots to create the completed scene played on a giant video wall for the audience. ©Disney It was pretty epic, as you might imagine, and featured incredible high-flying, gravity-defying automobile, motorcycle, and high-speed watercraft stunts in addition to plenty of pyrotechnics. But, Disney had to shutter the show when they decided to retheme and expand the Streets of America and surrounding sections of Hollywood Studios into more Toy Story Land and Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge. Many fans mourned the loss of what once was an “MGM Studios” attraction, and we lost a little bit of that movie magic sprinkled into this park. via AllEars.net But, a theme park in Brazil is home to a strikingly similar show. At Beto Carrero World in Penha, Brazil, the Hot Wheels Epic Show draws utterly massive crowds as stunt drivers race around in modified cars designed to look like real-life Hot Wheels cars! ©Beto Carrero World The Beto Carrero World website promises the Hot Wheels Epic Show will let viewers “Accelerate in a world where toys are life-size. On the Hot Wheels Epic Show, the crowd vibrates with an exciting spectacle, packed with radical maneuvers, speed and lots of adrenaline!” ©Beto Carrero World And, based on videos you can find online — we have to say that we think the shows look pretty similar! Of course, it’s been nearly ten years (time is an illusion) since we’ve seen Lights, Motors, Action! in person, but still — you can’t deny the similarities. As part of this year’s festivities, we’re keeping our eyes on the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade because not one, but TWO new Disney additions are making their debut. Let’s check them out! This year’s Disney Cruise Line Thanksgiving Day Parade float is called “Magic Meets the Seas” and its concept art depicts the bows of eight Disney Cruise Line ships. According to Disney, the 2024 float took inspiration from the 2023 version, with the Disney Treasure as the focal point of the float. As you can see, some of Disney’s most iconic characters are on board the float! Disney Cruise Line float We spotted Black Panther and Spider-Man. Marvel heroes Miguel from Coco was also onboard waving to fans. Miguel Captain Mickey was there, too! Captain Mickey and friends And, there’s a brand-new Minnie Mouse balloon in this year’s Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade as well! For the first time ever, Minnie Mouse will be featured on her very own multi-story balloon. Her balloon features her iconic red a white polka dot look with yellow heels. Perfect for New York City fashion! She’s so pretty! Bluey also put in an appearance. It’s Bluey Spider-Man was right at home flying over the streets of New York City. Not all announcements are created equal. Hollywood Studios Disney makes a lot of announcements – – take it from us, keep track of them all – – but some are much larger than – – with much wider-reaching effects. This past month, Disney released a double-doozy of an announcement that promises to change the face of one of Disney World’s theme parks forever! Back at August’s D23 Ultimate Fan Event, Disney announced that the long-rumored Monsters, Inc. door coaster was coming to Disney’s Hollywood Studios. Furthermore, they confirmed there would be a full Monstropolis land built, including restaurants, merchandise locations, and meet & greets building out the Monsters, Inc. world. While many were happy about this announcement in concept, Muppet fans were somewhat dismayed to see that one of the pieces of concept art seemed to indicate that the Monsters, Inc. land would be replacing Muppet*Vision 3D and the Muppet Courtyard area of the park. Disney went months without confirming where the Monsters, Inc. land would go, nor what the future of The Muppets would be at the park. That changed on November 22, 2024. Disney made a double announcement. First, the company confirmed that the Monsters, Inc. land will be coming to the “south side of Disney’s Hollywood Studios”, with new concept art 100% confirming that the land will be replacing Muppet’s Courtyard. In addition, Disney confirmed that a previously unannounced “theater show” would be joining the door coaster in the land. ©Disney However, that wasn’t all. Disney also announced that the end of Muppet*Vision 3D didn’t mean the end of the Muppets at Hollywood Studios. Instead, the characters will be “moving right along to Sunset Boulevard! But there’s more to the story: The Muppets will be taking over Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster, teaming up with some of music’s biggest stars for a rockin’ music festival!” ©Disney That’s right, Aerosmith is out, and the Muppets are in, making the new coaster their first ride ever, which promises “laughter, screams and new tunes for this attraction for fans to enjoy throughout the adventure.” According to Disney, the characters will have a large presence in the Sunset Boulevard area of the park, with “plenty of Muppets-themed merchandise” available. While these announcements have answered the biggest questions open since D23, they have led to slew of new speculation. On the Monsters, Inc. front, some are wondering if the the “theater show” is going to be something new or the long-running Monsters, Inc. Laugh Floor show moving over from the Magic Kingdom. A billboard for the latter attraction present in the concept art has only intensified this line of thinking. Laugh Floor Meanwhile, on the Muppet side of things, several questions have emerged. For starters, many are wondering how the comedic/character-driven Muppets will merge with the high-speed, thrill-ride elements of the coaster. Furthermore, many are wondering if Disney will find some way to either continue playing Muppet*Vision 3D, or release the film to streaming or home video, since it represents the final Muppets work of legendary creator Jim Henson. Kermit! In addition, we’re curious if Disney will be able to salvage any props or other physical elements like the Miss Piggy fountain for the new Muppets area. Miss Piggy Fountain While the double Monsters, Inc./Muppets announcement was the biggest news to come from Disney this month, there was other news and events of note, including the launch of 2024’s Jollywood Nights and Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party, a massive media event celebrating the launch of the Disney Treasure, and a big change to Disney’s recently launched Lightning Lane Premier Pass. Disney Treasure Disney rocked the theme park world with their announcements of Monsters, Inc. replacing Muppet Courtyard and the Muppets, in turn, taking over the Rock ’n’ Roller Coaster. We know, we know, Disney World can be expensive…just a baseline trip can cost thousands of dollars once you consider the cost of your hotel, tickets, and airfare. Blizzard Beach You also have to EAT while you’re there, so food is going to set your budget back, too. Plus you might also want to pay extra for things like Lightning Lane Multi Pass and Lightning Lane Single Pass. You might even be considering things like the Happily Ever After Fireworks Dessert Party. There are so many other perks you can pay for, too, but we’ve got one to tell you about that we think is completely worth it. So at this point, you might be wondering what perk is worth $225. Well, we’re going to tell you. So this is a perk you can get at Disney World’s water parks. We recently visited Blizzard Beach and invested $225 in what’s called “Polar Patios,” which is a private, shaded deck that you can get at the water park. Basically, think of it as a cabana. As you can see, it’s a pretty nice space. Polar Patio For that price, you get a private place for you and your group to hang out at ALL day during your time at the water park. There’s enough seating for up to six guests, plus towels are provided during your time on the patio. It also includes a personal locker for all your belongings plus free ice water ALL DAY. Free water You also get souvenir refillable mugs that you can fill up FOR FREE all day long throughout the water park with coffee, tea, and soft drinks. So, you basically get all you can drink throughout the day, too. Refillable mugs Perhaps the best part is that you also get dedicated service: attendants will be on hand to help you get the most out of the water park. Getting hungry? You can order food or additional beverages directly from these attendants. Order food and beverages Interested in an upgrade? You can also book a Premium Polar Patio for $375. Premium patios include a mini fridge, fan, and cell phone chargers. Cell phone chargers Okay, so now you might be thinking that $225 is a lot of money for a water park perk, but here us out. Because these polar patios are great for groups, if you’ve got a few families visiting the water parks at once, you could split the cost. However, the polar patios are about to be an even better deal in 2025. Disney World hotel guests will be able to visit water parks for FREE on their arrival day, which makes the patios an even better value. Comfy chairs So, yes, the polar patios (or if you’re at Typhoon Lagoon, the Beachcomber Shacks) are a great way to give yourself a little private space when you’re visiting Disney World’s water parks. If you’re interested in booking, advance reservations are highly recommended. You can check for available days and make your advance reservation on the Disney World website. Haunted Mansion in Disneyland Park is no longer using a virtual queue because the BRAND-NEW queue is officially open! Haunted Mansion Holiday Back in January, the attraction was closed for renovation until July 29th. However, when the attraction reopened, the queue was still under construction so Haunted Mansion has been using a virtual queue. The virtual queue is no more for this attraction! The queue reopened on November 26th ending the need for the virtual queue, so we HAD to stop by to check it out. The full Haunted Mansion queue is now open! The gardens in the queue are being protected by some animals including a raven and a crouching cat. It looks like the cat is ready to pounce! The cat is watching! Once inside the queue you will come across a garden retreat designed by Master Gracey. You will see some faces on the wall, including the face of a sea maiden. Master Gracey’s Garden Retreat As you continue moving forward you will also spot an iron gazebo with a book, astrological armillary sphere, and a smoking pipe in an area that was used by Master Gracey. Master Gracey’s Gazebo Next up, you will enter into Madame Leota’s garden. There is a variety of statues and trinkets located throughout the garden. You will also see a repeating motif of fortune-telling orbs. Madame Leota’s Garden Further into the queue, you will enter into the Mansion Greenhouse. You will see some of the resident’s unusual plants hanging from the ceiling. Mansion Greenhouse You will also find a pet cemetery within the queue. Pet Cemetery You can also spot a familiar fountain in the queue! This Spanish fountain used to be in the middle of Magnolia Park. Spanish Fountain from Magnolia Park We also spotted some interesting details in the queue. Is that a bone we see inside the storage chest? Haunted Mansion Queue You also can’t pass by these markers without reading the names and chuckling a bit. And of course, have a moment of silence for people such as U.R. Gone and Pearl E. Gates. Punny graves After our first time walking through the queue, we felt like the new additions are a seamless fit. We loved seeing all the little details, and they were all over the place in the queue! Our biggest wish was that the queue included a bit more shade, but we were still impressed with the renovation. It hasn’t quite reached the level of the Haunted Mansion queue in Magic Kingdom, but it is getting closer. Haunted Mansion Queue The transformation of this area is ALMOST complete, right now we are just waiting on the new merchandise store to open up. The new store will be called Madame Leota’s Somewhere Beyond and is expected to open winter 2025. Inside, the shop is filled with Madame Leota’s eclectic furniture and even her crystal ball. If you’ve been here a while, you’ve probably heard us talk all about Disney World’s tiny village of chaos and anarchy. Tiny Train Town The infamous tiny train town is located in the Germany Pavilion, and we visit it often to see what mischief its miniature residents are getting into. But did you know that for a limited time, the tiny train town has a COMPETITOR?! Yep, that’s right. Currently, there are TWO tiny train towns in Disney World, and we’re off to visit the other one. As mayor of the Germany tiny train town, it’s only fair that I pay a visit to the temporary tiny train town at Disney’s Yacht Club as well. This little village is set up for the holiday season, and it’s a returning feature of the lobby here at the resort. The village is back! But just because this village is all cheerful and festive doesn’t mean that its residents are innocent! During my visit, I spotted two gentlemen attempting to dump a pot belly stove into the pond…that seems like a public safety hazard, not to mention littering. They’re definitely going to scare those nearby geese! Also…dare I ask what’s INSIDE that stove? Is there a body? Are they storing suspicious goods? Is this a “dump your loved one’s ashes” situation? I’m scared to know. Mischief? At the ironworks shop, a man and his horse seemed to be stuck on a icy ledge. How they made it up there in the first place, I do not know, but it seems that they’re also part of the pot belly stove conspiracy — their cart is filled with stoves. Are they smuggling them into the village? What’s going on here? I’m starting to think that this town has an entire underground stove trade. What’s going on over here? And speaking of smuggling — I accosted one resident for carrying a rather suspicious-looking package. Disguised as a fake poinsettia, myself and the local authorities were able to discover that this man was transporting contraband. Yep, that’s right — the faux potted plant was filled with *GASP* Universal Orlando merchandise. You would simply be horrified at the number of Harry Potter pins and lanyards he had stuffed in there. Hmmmm… So it seems that not all of these residents are innocent, no matter how holly and jolly they may be. Their village may be full of colorful buildings decorated with oversized candies, but I wouldn’t trust their alibis or shifty eyes. In the town center I’ll be keeping a close watch on this village throughout the holiday season, and I’ll let you know what I find! I suspect we’ll uncover more scandals throughout the coming weeks. While change is an inevitable part of Disney World, there will always be some things we mourn forever. Disney’s Hollywood Studios Disney World changed A LOT after the COVID pandemic, and even more than four years later, there are still some things that haven’t returned. One of our most beloved Disney’s Hollywood Studios traditions is still missing from the park, and we haven’t forgotten about them! The Citizens of Hollywood were a group of swanky individuals that waltzed down Sunset Boulevard. They brought their own unique brand of comedic entertainment and frequently brought guests into their shows. When you saw The Citizens of Hollywood walking down the street, you KNEW you were in for some laughs! We have only seen these performers cheering on runDisney participants since the pandemic, and we miss them dearly. Citizens of Hollywood However, Disney’s Hollywood Studios has added some special live entertainment for the holidays, and while they are most definitely not the Citizens of Hollywood, we are happy to see some more streetmosphere shows returning to Hollywood Studios. Hollywood Studios is featuring THREE different live entertainment acts for the holidays through December 30th, 2024. You can find these performers at Echo Lake, around Center Stage, and near Baseline Tap House throughout the day. Check the My Disney Experience app for specific times! Citizens of Hollywood First up, you can catch the Juggling Elves who are up to some whimsical shenanigans. No surprise here, but their performance includes LOTS of juggling. From bowling pins to presents, they juggle it all! They also perform a variety of other stunts. It is kind of like an elf circus. You might spot a familiar friend in the crowd! Juggling Elves You can also see the Holiday Spirit Band, which is a dynamic brass band that performs groovy, cool tunes. You will hear various songs, including Christmas songs performed by this group. You might even catch a Disney character dancing along to the songs! Holiday Spirit Band Finally, you can also catch Seasonz Jukebox rocking through way through the streets with hard-hitting horns and dazzling dancers. This group is full of energy and will have you tapping your feet to the beat, and maybe even dancing! The group includes drums, horns, and a saxophone, along with some high-energy dancers. We had so much fun seeing them perform! Seasonz Jukebox While we still REALLY want to see The Citizens of Hollywood make their return to Sunset Boulevard, we are still excited to see some more live entertainment available in Hollywood Studios for a bit. We’ve eaten a LOT of food in EPCOT this year. We started 2024 with a bang at the Festival of the Arts. Then, we enjoyed the stunning Flower and Garden Festival, followed by the Food and Wine Festival this fall. But winter is here! That means it’s time for the last EPCOT festival of the year — the EPCOT International Festival of the Holidays. EPCOT Festival of the Holidays The EPCOT International Festival of the Holidays runs from November 29th to December 30th, 2024. This festive event brings all kinds of special holiday entertainment to EPCOT, from the famous Candlelight Processional to a NEW Spaceship Earth gingerbread display. It’s going to be SO much fun. But one of the best parts of the event is the FOOD, and now we have a big clue about the menus this year. The first official Festival of the Holidays food booth menu has arrived in EPCOT! Why is this important? Yes, we here at DisneyFoodBlog LOVE Disney World. The blog started out with enjoying tasty Disney World food and AJ sharing her thoughts and opinions on the matter, and it has since transformed beyond just food into a place for all your Disney news. But that doesn’t mean we don’t have a soft spot for Universal Orlando and the theme parks over at that resort. Universal Orlando Universal Orlando has some awesome intellectual property that has transformed into amazing rides. From Shrek to Jurassic Park and Jurassic World to Harry Potter, you’ll find tons of great experiences at both Universal Studios Florida and Islands of Adventure. And now, coming in 2025, Epic Universe will bring FIVE new lands, new stories, new attractions, and so much more to the resort. We seriously can’t wait to visit this new park and check it all out. While we’ve been getting new information and sneak peeks, we’ve gotta say there are three things we already know Epic Universe will beat Disney World at. Harry Potter Honestly, need we say more than just the boy who lived’s name? Harry Potter is a fan-favorite franchise. People are obsessed with the books, movies, and two other Harry Potter lands at Universal Orlando (Hogsmeade and Diagon Alley). That’s why Epic Universe (and Universal Orlando in general) will always have this leg up on Disney World for these fans. ©Universal Epic Universe will take us to two brand-new sets of Harry Potter. The Wizarding World of Harry Potter — Ministry of Magic will have us exploring the streets of Paris during the times of the Fantastic Beasts movies as well as stepping foot into the actual Ministry of Magic via the Floo Network! Inside the Ministry of Magic, you’ll get to watch Delores Umbridge’s trial take place until chaos lets loose. And in Paris, you’ll see a magic show, dine with wizards, and of course enjoy butterbeer. Harry Potter fans likely can’t think of much more exciting than this! Dragons You won’t find any flying dragons in Disney World, but at How To Train Your Dragon: Isle of Berk, you’ll get to see just that and MORE. First, you’ll get to meet the dragons from the How To Train Your Dragon franchise! Ever wanted to meet Toothless? Now you’ll be able to. ©Universal But dragon meet-and-greets aren’t the only form of dragon entertainment you’ll get here. There will be a live show for guests to enjoy, AND if you look to the sky, you might spot a few FLYING DRAGONS. Yep, Universal has shared that “You may even catch a glimpse of dragons flying high above the village.” That will be pretty amazing to see! A Hotel IN the Park The last thing Epic Universe is sure to beat Disney World is its in-park hotel game. As of now, Disney World doesn’t have any hotels built into one of the parks. There are several within walking distance of the parks, but none right within the parks themselves. However, this will be the case for one Epic Universe hotel — Helios Grand Hotel! ©Universal Helios Grand Hotel will have its own entrance directly into Epic Universe. You can walk from your room straight into Celestial Park. From there, you can choose your path to any of the other lands. While Disney offers similar hotels at other resorts around the country and world (i.e., Disneyland Resort and Tokyo Disney), this is not offered at Disney World in Florida currently. ©Universal Epic Universe and Helios Grand Hotel will open on May 22nd, 2025. In just a few short months, we’ll be stepping foot into the exciting worlds of Celestial Park, The Wizarding World of Harry Potter — Ministry of Magic, How To Train Your Dragon: Isle of Berk, Dark Universe, and Super Nintendo World. Here’s a little secret you might not know about us: we LOVE the Muppets. Muppets Courtyard in Hollywood Studios No, seriously, we’re very passionate about the Muppets, and you’d be surprised at how many times we chat about them when we get the chance. So you can understand that like many other Disney World fans, we’re a little sad to say goodbye to Muppets Courtyard and Muppet*Vision 3D, which will be going away to make way for a new Monsters, Inc. land in Hollywood Studios. But we ARE getting a Muppets-themed version of Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster, and let’s just say the DFB team…well, we have ideas about it! So the team got together to have a serious discussion about things the new version of Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster needs to have. For the record, Disney, you can can call us at ANY TIME… Music So the ride is themed around music, so some classic Muppets songs need to get faster more rock ‘n’ roll versions. We’re talking about all the classics like “Man or Muppet,” “Life’s A Happy Song,” “Mah Na Mah Na” (okay, no idea what a rock version of that song would be like, but it would be AWESOME), and — of course — “Rainbow Connection.” ©Disney In fact, we think “Rainbow Connection” should be the ride’s closing song and then you just cruise into a rainbow-themed area at the end. “This Is Not What We Asked For”: Disney’s Permanent Closure of Muppet Vision 3D Is Causing a LOT of Controversy Statler and Waldorf You can’t have a Muppets-themed ANYTHING without Team Heckler, aka Statler and Waldorf. They need to be SOMEWHERE on the ride, insulting us in their unique grumpy way. You can’t have the Muppets without these two. Statler and Waldorf in Muppet*Vision 3D Maybe at the beginning when you’re getting on the ride, they’re giving us a nice heckling, reminiscent of the beginning of Muppet*Vision 3D. Jim Henson Company Shares Statement Following News of MuppetVision 3D Closure in Disney World Gonzo Another thing that we think MUST happen is at the beginning of the ride. Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster has a launch that takes you from 0 to 57 mph in a little over 2 seconds. So this would be a perfect theming of that launch: Gonzo and his cannon. Yes, we want the launch to be Gonzo shooting us out of his cannon, and then we go flying over a wonderland of Muppets fun. Gonzo! We told you we had ideas. This could also be fun if Statler and Waldorf were there at the beginning heckling Gonzo about his big idea to put us in the cannon. Come With Us to See the Muppets in a RARE Show at Disney’s Hollywood Studios Cameos The Muppets TV shows and movies were always known for celebrity cameos, and we think this ride should be no different. Obviously, Jason Segal HAS to pop in to say hello, but we’re also imagining rock stars and other pop culture icons having small roles throughout the ride. Maybe even make it to where these can be changed out on a regular basis to keep the ride fresh. ©Disney We also need cameos from Muppet*Vision 3D like Bean Bunny and Waldo C. Graphic. The ULTIMATE List of Muppets Quotes Aerosmith Cover It’s almost like tradition that when Disney re-themes a ride, there are still a few Easter eggs for the ride it replaced. Since The Muppets will be replacing Aerosmith on Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster, we MUST have an Electric Mayhem cover of an Aerosmith song. ©Disney Honestly, we feel like this should be “Sweet Emotion,” but honestly, Dr. Teeth and the Electric Mayhem would rock ANY Aerosmith song from the previous ride. Hands Down, This Is the BEST Part About Jollywood Nights at Disney’s Hollywood Studios Fully immersive queue We want everything The Muppets have to give when we step in line for the new version of Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster. That means we need to see a fully immersive queue that literally walks us into the world of the Muppets. We’re talking cool Muppet characters and things to interact with and more. Give us a fully immersive Muppets queue! Even better? Rowlf could totally be in the queue at his piano interacting with everyone. That would be one line we’d always want to wait in. 3 Game-Changing Updates Announced for Disney’s Hollywood Studios in 2025 Safety Instructions So this IS a roller coaster, so safety instructions are a must — but these safety instructions have to be given by Sam the Eagle — we will not accept anyone else in that role. ©Disney We are already imagining Sam telling us to keep our hands and feet inside the ride vehicle at all times — you can just HEAR it, can’t you? Disney Is Building 8 New Rides, But They Still Won’t Give Us This Roller Coaster A good gift shop Back in the old days (yes, our backs are hurting us even as we say that), there USED to be a decent gift shop in Muppets Courtyard. And, well, the Muppets Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster needs a good gift shop. We’re not talking about a shop that has just a few items that we can find online. No, we want an ALL OUT Muppets-themed shop with merchandise we’ve never seen before. We miss the Muppets store in Hollywood Studios! As a matter of fact, we also want a Build-A-Bear kind of situation where we can make our own Muppet (apparently, FAO Schwartz once had something like this, so we know it’s possible). Disney, make it happen! Come With Us To Eat and See EVERYTHING at the 2024 Jollywood Nights Event at Disney’s Hollywood Studios A Muppets Makeover for KRNR You know the KRNR cart that sells some snacks and drinks? Okay, get rid of the current setup and turn it into the Electric Mayhem’s iconic bus. Then smell Muppets-themed snacks and drinks from that, and Disney, we SWEAR, you’ll be rolling in money. While we’re at it, we wouldn’t mind if Disney just Muppetized that entire part of Hollywood Studios. Re-theming the entire area If we’re giving up Muppets Courtyard, give us a NEW re-themed Muppets area in the park and make it GOOD. We’re talking about everything around Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster having a Muppets theme. Can we just move all of this over to the Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster area? We also think a restaurant owned by Swedish Chef needs to go in this area (and, hey, if he’s got a recipe for those IKEA Swedish meatballs, we’re in). Disney shocked a LOT of fans this past week with the announcement that their new Monsters, Inc. Land would take over Muppets Courtyard in Disney’s Hollywood Studios. Muppets Courtyard in Hollywood Studios Many guests have mixed feelings about the change, because not only did Disney announce that Muppets Courtyard would be going away, but they confirmed that the Muppets wouldn’t be leaving the park — they’re being transferred to a new Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster retheme! But what can we really expect from this retheme? Let’s dive into what we know so far. In Disney’s official announcement, they shared that the Muppets would be teaming up with some of “music’s biggest stars for a rockin’ music festival” in the coaster’s retheme. We’re taking this to mean that while the Muppets will be front and center starring in the ride, there will be cameos by popular artists as well. Muppets Courtyard at DHS What exactly d0es this mean? We’re still figuring that out, but the good news is that we also have concept art to pick apart and see if we can find more details! ©Disney Looking at the concept art first thing, we can see that the logo has changed a little bit for the ride. It’s named the same, but has more red to it than before and is formatted differently. This could mean that we might see the outdoor signage for this ride change a bit, or it may stay the same since it’s not a significant difference. ©Disney We also noticed that the ride vehicle pictured is VERY different from what the current Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster ride vehicle looks like, as it’s currently a limousine, as you can see below. It appears that these (potentially) new ride vehicles will be MUCH more colorful to match the Electric Mayhem’s color palette, and it looks like Dr. Teeth’s keyboard is even built INTO the ride vehicle — now THAT would be cool to see! (And check out that license plate!) ©Disney Lastly, let’s take a look at WHO is on board, which may give us a clue as to what Muppets we’ll see in the attraction. We’ve certainly got Dr. Teeth and the rest of the Electric Mayhem, made up of Animal, Floyd Pepper, Janice, Zoot, and Lips, but we’ve also got Kermit and Miss Piggy. Those are the only Muppets pictured though, so it has us wondering if other favorites like Fozzy, Beeker, Dr. Honeydew, the Swedish Chef, and more will be making any appearances. ©Disney Being that the ride will now take place at a music festival, it is possible we could see other Muppets throughout the queue or the actual ride itself. Now, the latest Star Wars series on the platform has gotten a new premiere date! In late November 2024, Disney announced that the first two episodes of Star Wars: Skeleton Crew will be premiering at 6:00PM PST (9:00PM EST) on Monday, December 2nd, one day earlier than its previously scheduled December 3rd date. There comes a time to NOT buy Lightning Lane. Disney & Pixar Short Film Festival 2024 has been the year of Lightning Lane at Disney World. Over the course of the year, Disney has revamped its skip-the-line system into Lightning Line Multi Pass, Lightning Lane Single Pass, and Lightning Lane Premier Pass. While there are many debates as to which of these tiers provides the most value, there’s one thing we know for sure: there’s a time NOT to buy any of them. Specifically, if you buy Lightning Lanes too late, you’re definitely not gonna get your money’s worth. Let’s say you arrive at the Magic Kingdom without any Lightning Lane purchased, and then find yourself gobsmacked by the wait times of rides around the park, so you decide to try purchasing a Lightning Lane Multi Pass. Good move right? Likely wrong. By the time the park’s open, the only Multi Pass Lightning Lanes available are either “leftover” attractions that don’t really “NEED” skip-the-line options, or times late in the day that conflict with events like Happily Ever Fireworks. Lightning Lane Now, there is a silver lining to all this. So here’s the silver lining to all of this. Unlike the previous Disney Genie+ system (where Lighting Lane purchases had to be made the day of) Lightning Lane Multi Pass options can be bought beforehand, so it’s more helpful with letting you know Lightning Lane return times are gonna look like BEFORE you hit the purchase button, which can in turn help you plan a day better, and if you’re not liking what you’re seeing, you don’t HAVE to commit to buying Lightning Lanes still. Haunted Mansion Lightning Lane Just a reminder if you’re looking to purchase Lightning Lane beforehand: If you’re staying at a Disney-owned hotel during your next trip, you’ll be able to purchase and make up to three Multi Pass Lightning Lane selections (and up to two Single Pass ones) 7 days before your hotel check-in. If you’re gonna be staying off-property, the earliest you’ll be able to book them is 3 days before your visit. Either way once you’re booking window opens, it’s best to jump on the app and grab what you want as soon as possible because you’ll have a WAY better selection to choose from than you will on the day of your park visit when all that’s gonna be leftover for you are the sloppy seconds. Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway Lightning Lane If you find yourself at a Walt Disney World park already, it’s likely too late to get any value out of purchasing a Lightning Lane Multi Pass.
