  1. Okay, so it’s no secret that our job is literally eating ALL the food in Disney World, or at least all the new food. It’s that time of year! So the holiday season has arrived and that means that there a lot of new food and snacks arriving at Disney World parks, hotels, and Disney Springs. So, yes, we’ve been running all over Disney World, dropping almost $600 total on new holiday snacks just to get you reviews on everything. That is a LOT of food, y’all. So now that we’ve tried pretty much all the new stuff, we’re going to tell you about our hits and misses so you don’t waste a second of your time during your holiday Disney World trip wondering what to eat. Okay, so we’re including all the new treats that arrived in Disney World, including the exclusive eats you can get at both Jollywood Nights in Hollywood Studios AND Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party in Magic Kingdom. Let’s go! The Hits Okay, let’s talk about the snacks we would eat over and over again. We’re starting with the Gingerbread Cheesecake at Backlot Express for $5.99. It’s a gingerbread cheesecake on a vanilla cookie topped with milk chocolate ganache, dulce de leche whipped cream, gingerbread chocolate décor, gold crispy pearls, and holiday sprinkles. Not only is this treat the CUTEST we’ve seen this year, but it’s also delicious. The cheesecake is high quality and the dulce de leche whipped cream just elevates it. The cookie on the bottom was buttery, and the whole thing just SLAPPED. A++, Disney. Gingerbread Cheesecake We also found some new favorite treats at Jollywood Nights. One exclusive treat is the plant-based Cauliflower Taco at ABC Commissary for $4.49. This is made with Chili pepper-lime dusted fried cauliflower on top of a corn tortilla with diced onions, cilantro, and a chipotle cashew “crema.” This snack knocked it out of the park and had so much flavor that we were surprised that it didn’t contain meat. The corn tortilla was fresh, the cauliflower was fried perfectly, and it all just worked out to create the perfect taco. Plant-based Cauliflower Taco ABC Commissary is on a taco roll, though, because another Jollywood Nights-exclusive treat is the Taco ‘bout a Holiday Cookie for $5.79. This is a cranberry cheesecake-filled chocolate cookie dipped in cranberry-white chocolate topped with pistachio whipped cream, gold crispy pearls, chocolate holly leaf décor, and holiday sprinkles. The theming was PERFECT and super tasty. Although there was nothing to suggest the cookie was spiced, it gave us gingerbread vibes, especially when paired with the cranberry. Taco ‘bout a Holiday Cookie Jollywood Nights has also brought us one of our new favorite holiday drinks, the Dark and Snowy at Ice Cold Hydraulics. For $9, you get a frozen blend of Jack Daniel’s Tennessee Whiskey and Coca-Cola topped with sweetened coconut cream and cinnamon. Although it’s a classic whisky and coke base, the sweetened coconut cream just makes it SING. Dark and Snowy We also found a few new faves at Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party this year. The Holiday Dinner Loaded Fries for $6.99 from Casey’s Corner totally surprised us. These are French fries with turkey and gravy, fried onions, and cranberry sauce. It might sound a little weird, but these flavors were SO good with the fries, and there were LOADS of toppings. Holiday Dinner Loaded French Fries We also loved the Baked Brie Flatbread for $13.29 at Pinocchio Village Haus at Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party. It’s made with a brie-cheese spread, mango chutney, green apples, arugula, almonds, and a honey drizzle. It has the perfect blend of sweet and savory, plus you’ve got that super melted creamy Brie. Baked Brie Flatbread We’ve got one more amazing treat to share with you. The Festive Beignets at Golden Oak Outpost during Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party are AMAZING. For $7.29, you get three light and fluffy beignets dusted with blue sugar cookie dust and served with cookie butter icing. These are like upgraded beignets. They were a little messy — that cookie dust went everywhere, but SO worth it. It’s the perfect snack to satisfy your sweet tooth. Festive Beignets We also found a favorite over at Disney’s Beach Club Resort at their gingerbread display pop-up treats shop. The Spiced Orange and Cranberry Bundt Cake for $5.79 is another pretty dessert that also packs SERIOUS flavor. It’s moist, and the spices, orange, and cranberry, just come through and combine to create a wonderful flavor. This is what the holidays taste like. Spiced Orange and Cranberry Bundt Cake So we’ve found a lot of great snacks this holiday season that will be singing the praises about until next year’s round of holiday snacks comes out. The Misses However, when you eat almost $600 in snacks, there are going to be some that just aren’t all that. Now, we’re going to tell you about the holiday snacks you should skip in Disney World, starting with the Red Velvet Holiday Milk Shake for $9.79 at Dockside Diner in Hollywood Studios. It’s a Red Velvet Milk Shake swirled with Chocolate Sauce topped with Whipped Cream, Rainbow Sprinkles, and a Holiday Tree Sugar Cookie. It’s messy, it’s thick enough to actually be a Wendy’s Frosty, and the chocolate flavor is SO artificial. Even the sugar cookie was disappointing. Red Velvet Holiday Milkshake We’ve also got a Jollywood Nights drink to warn you about. The Beer Margarita from BaseLine Tap House is made with a blend of Patrón Silver Tequila, Cointreau Orange Liqueur, and lime juice topped with Scrimshaw Pilsner served over ice. For $17.50, you basically get a margarita-flavored beer, and we really don’t think it’s unique enough to justify paying almost $18 for it. You don’t even get a glow cube! Beer Margarita Okay, moving on to Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party. The Holiday Pineapple-Orange-Guava Juice Float is made with Pineapple-orange-guava juice, coconut soft-serve, and a spiced pineapple tree pop for $9. Yes, it’s a POG float with coconut soft-serve, but it didn’t wow us like we thought it would. We didn’t think it justified the $9 price tag either, and it wasn’t even all that festive other than a Christmas tree cake pop. It’s just…basic. Holiday Pineapple-Orange-Guava Juice Float Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party also has a Gingerbread Cola for $5 at various carts throughout Magic Kingdom. It’s Coca-Cola with gingerbread syrup. That might seem intriguing, but trust us…this was WEIRD. It’s sickly sweet and tastes like medicine. If you want a soda, just get a regular Coke. Gingerbread Cola We hope this gives you a good idea of what you should and should NOT eat in Disney World this holiday season. 3. Disney rides are Imagineering wonders — and Imagineering wonders take a lot of work to keep them running in tip-top shape. Seven Dwarfs Mine Train Every once in a while, though, something can cause a ride to suddenly stop. Maybe a rider dropped something when they were getting out and Cast Members needed to retrieve it for safety reasons, or maybe something mechanical happened. It’s typically a quick fix and rides will often start back up within a few minutes, but sometimes — a ride needs to be evacuated! Tyler shared that they were enjoying the second-to-last scene of the ride when it suddenly stopped. After around five minutes, the lights came on and an announcement was made that riders would soon be evacuated. Cast Members didn’t share what exactly caused the problem, but it was quite sudden according to Tyler. When rides suddenly stop, it’s important to be patient and listen to Cast Member instructions. Typically, an announcement will be made advising you to stay in your seat with another announcement ahead of when the ride will start up again. If you’re ever evacuated from a ride, Cast Members will instruct you on how to safely do so. New numbers on the vehicles In other Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure news — the ride recently began using a Single Rider Line! While it had technically been there since the ride opened, the Single Rider Line had rarely — if ever — been used. But now, it seems to be sticking around! We’ve found waits in this line to be significantly lower. If you want to use it, though, keep in mind you will be separated from the rest of your party — and likely riding with strangers. If that doesn’t bother you, then the Single Rider Line can be a great way to skip the regular standby line! Single Rider Line In the meantime, we’ll be on the lookout for the latest news from EPCOT and more — so stay tuned to the Disney Food Blog as we bring you more updates you don’t want to miss! 7. Let’s grab some grub at Disneyland! Disneyland Tomorrowland Disneyland is often regarded as having some of the best theme park food in the industry, but that doesn’t mean every restaurant is a hit. Over in Tomorrowland, Alien Pizza Planet has divided Disney food fans. With the quality called into question in addition to some concern over prices, Alien Pizza Planet currently holds a modest 3.2 out of 5.0 stars on Yelp. With all that in mind, we visited the controversial restaurant to see how it holds up heading into 2025! Situated in a corner right next to Space Mountain, Alien Pizza Planet is hard to miss. Out front, it features a giant Pizza Planet rocket and the little green aliens from the Toy Story franchise — not exactly subtle. The restaurant beckons Tomorrowland guests for a bite, and we gladly obliged! Alien Pizza Planet Atmosphere As we previously mentioned, Alien Pizza Planet welcomes guests from far and wide with a bit of novelty. Based on the Pizza Planet from Toy Story, they front has plenty of references to the pizza parlor from the movie with the color scheme and rocket as well as the little green aliens blasting off. The front outdoor portion has a little bit of shaded seating, but it’s also close to several tables scattered around the area. Alien Pizza Planet Once inside, you’ll find a cafeteria-like setup. You’ll be able to order food, pick up mobile orders, and find limited seating. Alien Pizza Planet The dining room features even more alien theming, but be warned that it’s usually packed and it can be tough to find seating inside. Alien Pizza Planet dining room There is also a large beverage station off to the side that is equipped with everything you’ll need for your meal. Beverage station Our best tip when it comes to dining at the restaurant is to walk right through the dining room until you see the automatic doors in the back. Behind the restaurant on the way to Space Mountain, you’ll find a ton of covered seating that is essentially indoors and much more likely to have ample seating. This area has an upper and lower level and is great if you’re looking to get out of the sun for a bit. Pizza Planet seating So what kind of food can you expect to find here? Besides pizza (which is obviously the top billing), you might be surprised… Menu When it comes to the menu, think quick-service pizza parlor. You’ll find several options pertaining to pizza, pasta, and salad. The pizza ranges from typical pepperoni and cheese to seasonal options that can get pretty exciting, like the Chicken Al Pastor Pizza. The pizza here is served in slices for around $8 to $10. ©Disney Pastas get a little bit more creative, with options like fusilli and Chicken Sesame-Ginger Vegetable Noodles. ©Disney Sides are pretty basic, however, with garlic bread options, side salads, and classic chips. Kids meals are also limited, with the Space-getti with Meatballs and Kid-Size Cheese Pizza being the only two options. ©Disney Drinks here are par for the course when it comes to quick-service restaurants. We’re talking assorted fountain beverages and the standard hot drink and Minute Maid options to accompany the occasional seasonal drink. As for desserts, you’re not really going to find anything unique to the location outside of seasonal items. Speaking of which… ©Disney This restaurant tends to offer tons of seasonal offerings in food, drinks, and souvenirs, so be sure to check the menu often as it can look quite different each visit! ©Disney Now that you know what to expect, let’s jump in and see how everything tasted! Drinks You’re not going to find any alcoholic beverages here, but Alien Pizza Planet does tend to offer interesting seasonal drinks. During our visit, we tried the seasonal Holiday Green Drink! This drink is an apple-flavored beverage topped with caramel cold foam and sprinkles and will set you back $6.99. Holiday Green Drink First and foremost, this thing looks weird. Whether it’s a good weird or a bad weird depends on the diner. Our reporter felt it looked cool and apropos of the restaurant’s theme, but could understand how some might find it to be offputting. The drink looks like sludge, and the texture is a bit…gooey. Party on top As for the drink itself, ours tasted like a watered-down candy apple. The caramel foam was tasty but became overbearing fast. In short, the Holiday Green Drink just had too much going on for us, and we got over it quickly. This drink was very sweet and you have to like caramel drinks, otherwise, it’s unlikely you’ll dig this. We weren’t big fans, but we understand that this is a niche item that will appease certain guests. Eats For our meal, we tried the Chicken Sesame-Ginger Vegetable Noodles, Chicken Al Pastor Pizza, and Alien Reindeer Macaron. Alien Pizza Planet spread We started off with the Chicken Sesame-Ginger Vegetable Noodles, which is made with grilled chicken and stir-fried vegetables served over noodles, tossed with sesame-ginger sauce, and garnished with cilantro & scallions. This “pasta” costs $13.49. Chicken Sesame-Ginger Vegetable Noodles This meal didn’t stand out much one way or another, but maybe that’s a good thing. This is one of the least offensive dishes you’ll find at the Disneyland resort. Ours was super light and a great substitution if you want to take a break from deep-fried and greasy food. It’s very cut and dry — the veggies are basic veggies, the noodles were very basic, the chicken was surprisingly tender, and the sauce was light and subtle. While we wish there was more sauce, mixing it around seemed to help a bit. Otherwise, this is a perfectly fine dish. If you’re looking for something light and trying to eat healthier, this is a suitable option. However, we don’t think it’s worth the price tag. Chicken and cilantro Next, you know we had to get a slice of pizza at a place that literally has “pizza” in its title! We opted for the Chicken Al Pastor Pizza slice for $9.49. This pizza is made with spiced red sauce, mozzarella cheese, roasted corn, and al pastor-marinated chicken garnished with crema and tomatillo sauce drizzle and cilantro. Chicken Al Pastor Pizza This one is a toughie to grade. Our pizza had a TON of flavor going on. The crema was awesome and provided a softness to the very subtle kick of the pizza. The cilantro was also an excellent bonus, as it helped cut through the spice and provided a nice freshness. The crust was thick with a good crunch, and the green sauce provided a delicious salsa flavor. All in all, you can taste each flavor, but there was so much going on that it was overwhelming. We’re not quite sure all these flavors work best on a pizza, but we still thought it was a solid option on the menu. Once again, we felt the price brought down our opinion of this item. The Chicken Al Pastor Pizza will likely satisfy fans of Southwestern cuisine, but a cost of something closer to $7 would be more fair. No complaints about the crust! Finally, for dessert, we tried the Alien Reindeer Macaron, which is filled with salted caramel buttercream, chocolate ganache, and brownie pieces. This seasonal dessert costs $7.99. Alien Reindeer Macaron This little guy is absolutely adorable and a really fun holiday treat! Each flavor really stood out, and the brownie pieces were especially epic. It’s also served cold, which was a feature we loved because it provided a surprisingly refreshing tasting experience. SO good There are a lot of flavors going on here, and the dessert is very rich, but if you’re a fan of Disney macarons, we recommend giving this one a try! Overall Overall, the quality here isn’t bad! That’s not the highest of praise, but we want to note that Alien Pizza Planet should be commended for trying to incorporate new flavors to bolster its menu while taking some risks. It stacks up just fine to the average quick-service location in terms of quality, and we felt our food here was good and filling. Alien Pizza Planet With that said, we can’t help but comment on the prices. While these rates won’t bankrupt you, the items here are clearly overpriced. Comparing Alien Pizza Planet to other similar spots at Disneyland, there are more affordable options that provide equal or better quality, so we’re scratching our heads as to why Alien Pizza Planet refuses to come down in cost. $9 or more for a slice of pizza is tough to swallow. Nosh Or Not? Fly your spaceship over to Alien Pizza Planet if… You want pizza. Pizza quick-service options are limited, so this is still your best bet. You’re in the mood for non-traditional pizza. While we liked but didn’t love the Chicken Al Pastor pizza this go-around, Alien Pizza Planet has impressed us with its seasonal pizza options in the past, upping its appeal if you’re looking for something different with your pizza. You’re in a rush. Once you grab your food, this is a fast dining experience that gets you on with your day quickly. As an added bonus, this restaurant is right next to Space Mountain, and you can hop right on after you’re finished eating…if your stomach can handle it, of course! Pass by Alien Pizza Planet and dine elsewhere if… Bang for your buck is a priority. There are quick-service restaurants like Rancho del Zocalo that are simply a better value. You’ll get more food (and better quality) here. Basic theme park fare ain’t gonna cut it. Alien Pizza Planet has made strides with its menu, but it still has a ways to go if it’s going to compete with the big boys. Disneyland restaurants like River Belle Terrace and Docking Bay 7 have more unique menus and won’t break the bank, either. You’re looking for a memorable dining experience. 11. If you’re itching for some new Disney merchandise but don’t want to pay full price online or in the parks, we get it! Loungefly Wall! The good news is that there are TONS of places you can go to find some Disney merchandise right in your hometown. One of our favorite places to stop is T.J. Maxx to see what we can find. On our last trip, we found multiple deals that we couldn’t pass up — here’s why you’ll want to be on the hunt for Disney merchandise the next time you shop! Christmas is right around the corner! Naturally, we were specifically hoping to find some Disney holiday items, but we weren’t disappointed when our first find was the Think Fast! Trivia Game. This could make a great gift for the family member who loves to show off their Disney knowledge — you can even play it on Christmas Day! Think Fast! We also spotted one of our FAVORITE items here for a DISCOUNT (all these items are discounted, but this one we were just extra excited about) — the JoyJolt 3D Mickey Glasses! We talk about these all the time and so many of our team members have them, they’re genuinely so adorable. JoyJolt 3D Mickey Glasses! For movie lovers, check out the Pinocchio and Jiminy Cricket Funko POP! display we spotted! These things are BIG, so you’ll want to be sure you have enough room on a shelf. Pinocchio and Jiminy Cricket Funko POP It was at this point that we spotted the holiday merchandise! Our first holiday find was this set of adorable Mickey Peppermint Coasters! 12. We hope you aren’t hungry right now because we are about to take you with us to try out a Disney World restaurant, and we are not responsible for any sudden cravings or watering mouths. Walt Disney World Swan Today, we are heading over to the Walt Disney World’s Swan Hotel to try out one of its many excellent restaurants. We are excited to see what this restaurant has to offer and, of course, take you all along with us! Il Mulino New York Trattoria is located in Walt Disney World’s Swan Hotel, and it serves up traditional meals from the Abruzzi region of Italy. This is the second location for the restaurant, with the original location being in Greenwich Village, New York. Inside, you will find dark wood tones, rustic lighting, and brick walls as you dine on rich, authentic flavors. Let’s head inside! Atmosphere The entrance to the restaurant is simple and welcoming, and we can already see how the wood elements are coming into play in this restaurant. Il Mulino You will find Il Mulino nestled in the lobby of Walt Disney World’s Swan Hotel. The restaurant is filled with wood tones and lots of beautiful brickwork. The restaurant feels cozy yet elevated. Il Mulino In addition to a dining area, there is also a large lounge area where you can go to sip on your beverage of choice and relax. There was lots of natural lighting in here and the use of wood tones continued into the lounge. Il Mulino The table settings are simple and welcoming, but still get you excited for the upcoming meal. The table was even set with a bottle of olive oil in addition to the salt and pepper. Table Setting Now that we have made it to our table, let’s take a look at the menu! Menu The restaurant offers an extensive menu, including a large selection of wines and other alcoholic beverages. Il Mulino Menu For starters, you can choose from a variety of antipasti, insalate, and zuppe. ©Disney There are options for pizza and pasta. ©Disney You can also order meals family-style, dishes from the grill, or chicken. ©Disney There are also options for veal and fish, as well as numerous side options. ©Disney You can choose from a variety of desserts, and there are also options for children’s meals. ©Disney Il Mulino also had a huge selection of alcohol, including some specialty cocktails. They also have an extensive wine menu and numerous beer options. ©Disney Now that we have taken a look at the menu, let’s take a look at what we ordered! Drinks To drink, we got the Primobacio, Moscato D’ Asti, which cost $14. Primobacio, Moscato D’ Asti This was wonderful and paired well with our whole meal, which honestly felt like one you’d want to have wine with, so it didn’t disappoint. Eats For a starter, we were served a basket of fresh bread along with some eggplant. Fresh Bread The eggplant here was so savory and you spread it on like a cold topping, and the bread was soft on the inside, crunchy on the outside like we wanted. The two of them together helped stimulate our appetite, which is what you want out of a bread service! Eggplant Next up, we got the Carpaccio Di Carne, which is thinly sliced Tuscan-style beef served with arugula, extra virgin olive oil, fresh lemon juice, and carpaccio sauce. You can get this dish for $17. This was spectacular! Our reporter isn’t usually one for raw meat appetizers, but the beef was cut incredibly thin, and the flavors were balanced extremely well. A real winner in our book. Carpaccio Di Carne We also tried the Insalata Caprese which cost $16. It is buffalo mozzarella with beef steak tomatoes, capers and roasted peppers. This was missing some of the fresh basil we were expecting, but the mozzarella and tomatoes were extremely high quality, which made up for it in our eyes. Insalata Caprese For our entrees, we started with the Rigatoni Con Funghi for $29. This dish is rigatoni with wild mushrooms, spicy cherry peppers, garlic, and truffle oil. This was our favorite item of the night. This was a half serving, as our reporters were sharing, and they loved the huge mushrooms and delicious truffle oil and garlic. Rigatoni Con Funghi It was very savory and aromatic, and the pasta was perfectly cooked, but what really took it to the next level for us was the spicy cherry peppers. It gave the dish a kick that we didn’t expect but totally loved! Rigatoni Con Funghi We also got the Pollo Parmigiana, which cost $35. It is pounded, breaded chicken breast served with fresh tomato sauce, and Italian cheese. This was the best chicken parmesan our reporter had ever had. The chicken was pounded so thin, which made it perfectly tender and easy to cut; it was perfectly breaded, and the tomato sauce was FRESH. It was Italian flavors at its most basic yet finest. Pollo Parmigiana Finally, for dessert, we got the Tiramisu for $14. This is layered espresso and coffee liquor-infused Lady Fingers coated with mascarpone cream. Tiramisu We really enjoyed this, but we felt it needed more of the lady fingers inside of it. It was well made, though, which made it hard to mess up, and it was a great end to the meal overall. Tiramisu Overall Overall, this place isn’t overly themed. In fact, it almost LOOKS like you’re sitting in a place that’s serving overpriced brunch, so it almost felt strange the food was so good. However, because it’s so out of the way and the atmosphere is a little meh, you might not have thought of coming here, even though the Italian food was incredible. Il Mulino Compared with Via Napoli, which you can find in EPCOT, which is the closest comparison you can get on the level of fine Italian food, you may prefer to go to Via Napoli since it’s in EPCOT. That said, this is a great option if you’re willing to stop by! Nosh or Not? This spot will be a fantastic fit for you if: You love delicious, high-quality Italian food You’re staying at the Swan or Dolphin hotels You don’t mind traveling decently far away from the parks to get a fantastic meal Il Mulino However, it may not be your speed if: You’re staying at another Disney World hotel or are attempting to stay in/close to the parks You’re just looking to eat something, not a standout meal You want more comprehensive theming (not even Disney theming, just a theme overall) We have eaten everywhere in Disney World, and we aren’t stopping there! 14. Sometimes, it feels like there’s no end to the changes coming to Magic Kingdom! Frontierland Shootin’ Arcade And we’re not even talking about things like Villains Land or the two Cars attractions coming to Frontierland. No, for this one, let’s talk about the new lounge for Disney Vacation Club members and break it all down! We heard a while back that Frontierland’s Shootin’ Arcade would close and become a new lounge for DVC members. Since then, we’ve been watching the construction site like hawks to glean what info we could on how it’ll look. Frontierland Shootin’ Arcade is behind walls now What we do know about it is that its name is McKim’s Mile House, and it will be open by the summer of 2025. The name of the lounge is actually a two-part reference. The first part is most likely a reference to Disney Legend Sam McKim, who designed the Disneyland souvenir maps issued between 1958 and 1964. ©Disney The second half of the lounge’s name, “Mile House,” was a term they used back during the Gold Rush to help mark a building that was a mile from some important destination. Examples of mile houses include stagecoach stops and places for refreshments. ©BC Archives Disney has shared a sneak peek of what the lounge will look like. At first glance, we can see lots of wood decor, frontier-inspired art, and a large fireplace. ©Disney Now, let’s dive deeper. First up, can we say that the theming looks to be TOTALLY on point. Even the lighting in this area looks like it would have been period-accurate. ©Disney In the upper left of the concept art, we can see a saddle and horse blankets, which would have been what a road-weary traveler would’ve brought into the mile house with them for an overnight stay. ©Disney Moving to the right, we can see a stuffed animal. Perhaps a young child will be a part of the backstory for this lounge. ©Disney Next, we find even more touches that indicate this is a mile house that sees a lot of different types of travelers, as indicated by the canteen, luggage, and towels. ©Disney I wonder if this portrait on the upper left would be of an older Sam McKim. Maybe he would be the proprietor of this establishment. ©Disney Perhaps that train is a nod to Walt’s love for trains. Also, maybe this portrait of a mile house is the proprietor’s original mile house. ©Disney We can see nods to Jessie from Toy Story and Big Al of the Country Bear Jamboree. ©Disney Well, those were just a couple of the things we picked up from the concept art, and I’m sure there are a whole lot more clues hidden for us to find! There’s so much more to learn about this new lounge; we’ll keep you updated as more information comes through. Stay tuned to DFB! Click Here to Learn More About Magic Kingdom Changes! 15. It’s been a rough year for streaming services, who continue to cancel shows left and right. ©Apple We’re almost at the point where we don’t want to commit to a new show for fear it won’t last beyond a season or two. We’ve seen some relatively popular shows get the axe, too, like Netflix’s Dead Boy Detectives. Even Star Wars isn’t above getting kicked to the curb: The Acolyte on Disney+ won’t be moving past its first season. However, it’s not just TV shows that are getting canceled. Recently, a movie starring two VERY popular actors also got canceled. According to Variety, Apple TV had a deal with director Jon Watts for a sequel to his movie Wolfs, which starred George Clooney and Brad Pitt. Now, though, that sequel, Wolfs 2, has been canceled. Yep, in this day and age, even George Cloooney and Brad Pitt aren’t safe from the streaming hammer! ©Apple TV In the original Wolfs movie, Clooney plays a professional fixer hired to cover up a high-profile crime. But then a second fixer shows up, Brad Pitt, and the two “lone wolves” end up having to work together as their evening turns into complete chaos in a way that neither fixer expected. ©Apple TV Watts had hinted that the sequel was being canceled earlier this week, but it was later confirmed that the project was scrapped. Wolf’s current project, the Star Wars series Skeleton Crew, will premiere on Disney+ in December. ©Disney Stay tuned to DFB for more. 2 Netflix TV Series CANCELED After Short Run on Streaming Service Join the DFB Newsletter to get all the breaking news right in your inbox! 17. Big changes are coming to Disney World! Hollywood Studios From a new Tropical Americas Land in Animal Kingdom to Villains Land and Cars attractions in Magic Kingdom, there’s going to be so much to see in the coming years. But one of the biggest surprises that Disney dropped on us was the new Monsters, Inc. Land coming to Hollywood Studios…and now we know where it will be located! When the Monsters, Inc. Land was first announced at D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event in 2024, there was a lot of speculation about where it would be located. Popular ideas included everything from Muppets Courtyard to Animation Courtyard to the possibility of replacing Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster. But now, the debate is finally settled. ©Disney Disney has officially announced that Monsters, Inc.Land will be located in the Grand Avenue south side of Disney’s Hollywood Studios. This is also known as the Muppets Courtyard. ©Disney With this change, we’ll have to say goodbye to Muppet*Vision 3D, PizzeRizzo, Mama Melrose, and the bathrooms in this area. We’re expecting Monsters, Inc. replacements for each of those locations, though! Just look at the concept art — the Muppet*Vision 3D attractions appears to be some kind of new show. We see what looks to be a new Harryhausen’s restaurant, and the building where the restrooms are located is still intact. ©Disney Speaking of Muppet*Vision 3D’ impending closure, it seems like Disney has something up its sleeve to honor the show. Disney said, “As we move forward with these changes, we are having creative conversations and exploring ways to preserve the film and other parts of the experience for fans to enjoy in the future.” Could this mean the show will wind up on Disney+? Maybe parts of the show will be used in the newly-rethemed Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster, starring the Muppers? We’ll have to wait and see! ©Disney Soon. Disney’s Hollywood Studios will have THREE roller coasters! Here’s a closer look at the new suspended roller coaster coming to the back section of Monsters, Inc. Land. Monsters, Inc. Coaster Model In this model created by Walt Disney Imagineering, the indoor coaster looks to wind all around a large warehouse-style building. We know there will be suspended doors whizzing past riders, but it’s unclear if those doors will be presented on a screen or in physical, 3D form. New roller coaster We still don’t know how long this new ride will last, but here are some examples of other ride times in Disney World: Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster — 1 minute 22 seconds Slinky Dog Dash — 2 minutes Seven Dwarfs Mine Train — 2 minutes 50 seconds Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind — 3 minutes We expect this new coaster to fall somewhere within this range of times. ©Disney Disney also confirmed that the new land will include new dining and shopping, as well as a whole new theater show. 18. With the constant flow of Disney World news, updates, and changes, we’re always doing our best to fill you in on all those important dates. Magic Kingdom One upcoming date has several Disney fans avoiding Magic Kingdom because of a certain event taking place. What might it be, you ask? Well, here’s all you need to know! If you’re a fan of Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, then we have sad news for you. The wildest ride in the wilderness over at Frontierland will be closing for an extensive refurbishment. Though no concrete reopening date has been confirmed, Disney did state that it will reopen with “a little bit of new magic” sometime in 2026. Big Thunder Mountain Railroad When is the official date for this lengthy closure? January 6th, 2025. This means that January 5th is a day to avoid Magic Kingdom unless you want to hang around busy crowds and wait an insane amount of time to ride Big Thunder Mountain Railroad for the last time. Big Thunder Mountain Railroad Despite wanting to shout one final ‘yeehaw’ while zooming through the rocky terrain, the final date of Big Thunder Mountain Railroad’s operation is one Disney adults are certainly avoiding. Instead, we suggest hopping aboard the speedy train far before that date if you’re able to so you can avoid what will be one of the busiest days for Magic Kingdom. ©Disney Back at D23, Disney announced that a land inspired by Disney Villains would officially be coming to Magic Kingdom. This new land will be built behind Big Thunder Mountain, with construction already underway. Although it is not confirmed that the coaster’s closure has anything to do with the upcoming Villian’s land, we think it just might just be given the timeline and the length. Big Thunder Mountain Railroad Although we are sad at how long Big Thunder Mountain will be closed, we are excited for the future of this attraction and can’t wait to see all the fun new changes that might come with it! Stay tuned as we keep you up to date with all the latest in Disney news. 4 Permanent Closures Disney World Could Announce in 2025 Join the DFB Newsletter to get all the breaking news right in your inbox! 19. Well, it’s officially happening, and let’s just say the news about the new Monsters, Inc. land coming to Disney’s Hollywood Studios is bittersweet. Mike and Sulley Yes, we are totally excited about a land devoted to Mike, Sulley, and all their employees at Monsters, Inc., but we’re also sad that Muppets Courtyard, along with Muppet*Vision 3D is going away to make room for it (at least the Muppets are just moving over to Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster, so at least Disney gave us that). But we ARE getting some new attractions in the Monsters, Inc. land and that’s something to be excited about, right? So let’s take a look at these new attractions. Okay, so we’ll be diving into the few details Disney has given us so far, as well as taking a closer look at the latest concept art for the new land. So far, we think there are at least two attractions coming to the Monsters, Inc. land in Hollywood Studios. But first, let’s take a look at the NEW concept art for this land to give you an idea of what we’re referring to. ©Disney Okay, so here are the attractions we believe we’ll see in this new area of the park. The Door Ride The first attraction Disney announced for the new Monsters, Inc. land is a ride based on the door chase sequence in the original Monsters, Inc. movie. Yes, that scene that fans have been begging Disney to make a ride for is finally happening. Here’s some concept art showing off the new ride, which will be Disney’s first EVER suspended roller coaster. Yeah, that’s EXCITING. ©Disney We’ve already done a deep dive into this concept art, and Disney has promised a ride that “will put you right in the middle of the monster action. Just be sure to fill out your paperwork! Roz is always watching…” From the new concept art, we think that the new coaster will be at the far end of the land, in the largest building. ©Disney We’ve seen the model of this attraction, and it will certainly need to take up a lot of space. However, we’re guessing this area will also feature some shops and, who knows, maybe even a dining spot! Learn more about what we know so far about this coaster A Monsters, Inc. Show Disney also revealed that a new show would be coming to the land. The ONLY detail we have about the show is that it will be new, so it’s something we haven’t seen yet. So yep, that’s exciting, too, and it’s pretty likely going to go into this Monstro Theater location we see in the new concept art. (This looks like the location of the former Muppet*Vision 3D attraction) ©Disney You can see what seems to be a little queue area there in front of that building, too. What kind of show will this be? Well, that’s anyone’s guess. Disney Just Teased MONSTERS INC ICE CREAM And We Need To Discuss Monsters, Inc. Laugh Floor Perhaps the most surprising addition to the new concept art is a sign above one of the buildings for Monsters, Inc. Laugh Floor. This could be a red herring or just an ad for the current Monsters, Inc. Laugh Floor show in Magic Kingdom. ©Disney Or…now hear us out...what if Disney moves the Monsters, Inc. Laugh Floor show to the new land? It would certainly make sense because it’s not that great of a fit in Tomorrowland. But will Disney really relocate an entire show? Who knows? But it’s interesting the new concept art references it. When Is the New Monsters, Inc Land Opening in Disney World? Disney has also promised new shopping and dining (and we are SO keeping an eye on Harryhausen’s in the concept art because that better be a real restaurant). We’ll be looking out for more details about the new land, so stay tuned to DFB for more. What Will Disney’s NEW Monsters, Inc. Roller Coaster Be Like? Land Coming to Disney’s Hollywood Studios Disney shared some HUGE news about the Monsters, Inc. land that will be located in Hollywood Studios. After months of Disney fans deliberating where it will be going, Disney officially confirmed its location. The new land will be taking over the Muppets Courtyard area. While the announcement didn’t include a closing date, we will soon be saying goodbye to Muppet*Vision 3D, Pizzerizzo, and more to make way for this new land. ©Disney Along with the announcement of the location, Disney also released that there will also be a brand-new theater show coming to the Monsters, Inc. Land. The show will be replacing Muppet*Vision 3D. We don’t know much more about the show though. While Muppets Courtyard is being rethemed, The Muppets won’t be completely disappearing from Hollywood Studios. They will just be moving somewhere else… Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster RETHEME Announced There are some big changes coming to Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster! Along with confirmation of the location of the Monsters, Inc. Land, Disney also announced that The Muppets will be taking over Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster. Disney hasn’t announced yet when this retheme will happen though. SNEAK PEEK at an Exclusive NEW Lounge Coming to Magic Kingdom There are some exciting changes coming to Magic Kingdom! Magic Kingdom It was announced a while back that Frontierland’s Shootin’ Arcade would close and become a new lounge for DVC members. Since then, we’ve been watching the construction on the former attraction closely, to see if we could get any hints as to what the new lounge will look like. Frontierland Shootin’ Aracade is behind walls now But now, Disney has shared a sneak peek at the space, which will be called McKim’s Mile House. It’s set to be open by the summer of 2025, so those planning trips for the latter part of next year may get to check it out. The concept art features lots of wood decor, several pieces of frontier-inspired art, and a large fireplace. ©Disney In case you’re wondering about the name, a Mile House was a term used during the Gold Rush to mark a building that was a mile from an important destination. Many mile houses were used for stagecoach stops or places to get refreshments. And the name of the building? Likely a homage to Disney Legend Sam McKim, who designed the Disneyland souvenir maps, issued between 1958 and 1964. Frontierland Shootin’ Arcade We can’t wait to learn more about this destination and get details about when it will open. We’ll make sure to keep you updated as more information comes through. 24. In case you haven’t heard (though, at this point, it seems like EVERYONE is talking about the news), Disney confirmed that the Muppet Courtyard in Disney’s Hollywood Studios is closing to make way for Monsters, Inc. Land. Animal goofing off in Muppet*Vision 3D Muppet*Vision 3D will permanently close when this part of the park closes. Or…will it? Well, thanks to some mysterious clues from both Disney AND The Jim Henson Company, we have a lot of new questions about the fate of this iconic show. When Disney announced its new plans for the Grand Avenue section of Hollywood Studios, it confirmed a few important things: The Muppets will be taking over Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster “teaming up with some of music’s biggest stars for a rockin’ music festival” The world of Monsters, Inc. will be built on the south side of Disney’s Hollywood Studios (in place of the Muppets Courtyard) A whole new theater show is coming to the new Monsters, Inc. Land Disney also tucked a potential clue about Muppet*Vision 3D in its recent announcement, and it has a lot of fans theorizing about what it could mean. The statement reads, “As we move forward with these changes, we are having creative conversations and exploring ways to preserve the film and other parts of the experience for fans to enjoy in the future.” Does this mean the show will take on a new 2D format on Disney+? Who knows! Actually, we know who knows. ©The Jim Henson Company On November 23rd, The Jim Henson Company took to social media to share a statement about the recent news. The statement reads: Jim Henson’s final project was Muppet*Vision 3D, now regarded as a true theme park classic. Innovation was always Jim Henson’s north star, and his trailblazing career led him to a unique challenge: a truly immersive Muppet experience where audiences are part of the happy chaos of the iconic Muppet Show. Originally debuting in 1991, Muppet*Vision 3D combined 3D technology with real-world practical effects, alongside animatronic and live Muppet characters. The result was a one-of-a-kind Jim Henson experience, and an unforgettable capstone to Jim’s magnificent career. As we learn of the show’s upcoming closure in its current form at Disney’s Hollywood Studios , we look forward to Muppet*Vision 3D’s next act. MuppetVision 3D Theater One part of this statement caught our eye. Did anyone notice it? The Company said, “We look forward to Muppet*Vision 3D’s next act.” What could THAT mean?! We have so many questions. For now, we have a lot of questions but not much in the way of answers. In the meantime, we’re always on the lookout for the latest Disney news, so stay tuned for more. 3 Game-Changing Updates Announced for Disney’s Hollywood Studios in 2025 Join the DFB Newsletter to get all the breaking news right in your inbox!
