  1. Sometimes, it feels like there’s no end to the changes coming to Magic Kingdom! Frontierland Shootin’ Arcade And we’re not even talking about things like Villains Land or the two Cars attractions coming to Frontierland. No, for this one, let’s talk about the new lounge for Disney Vacation Club members and break it all down! We heard a while back that Frontierland’s Shootin’ Arcade would close and become a new lounge for DVC members. Since then, we’ve been watching the construction site like hawks to glean what info we could on how it’ll look. Frontierland Shootin’ Arcade is behind walls now What we do know about it is that its name is McKim’s Mile House, and it will be open by the summer of 2025. The name of the lounge is actually a two-part reference. The first part is most likely a reference to Disney Legend Sam McKim, who designed the Disneyland souvenir maps issued between 1958 and 1964. ©Disney The second half of the lounge’s name, “Mile House,” was a term they used back during the Gold Rush to help mark a building that was a mile from some important destination. Examples of mile houses include stagecoach stops and places for refreshments. ©BC Archives Disney has shared a sneak peek of what the lounge will look like. At first glance, we can see lots of wood decor, frontier-inspired art, and a large fireplace. ©Disney Now, let’s dive deeper. First up, can we say that the theming looks to be TOTALLY on point. Even the lighting in this area looks like it would have been period-accurate. ©Disney In the upper left of the concept art, we can see a saddle and horse blankets, which would have been what a road-weary traveler would’ve brought into the mile house with them for an overnight stay. ©Disney Moving to the right, we can see a stuffed animal. Perhaps a young child will be a part of the backstory for this lounge. ©Disney Next, we find even more touches that indicate this is a mile house that sees a lot of different types of travelers, as indicated by the canteen, luggage, and towels. ©Disney I wonder if this portrait on the upper left would be of an older Sam McKim. Maybe he would be the proprietor of this establishment. ©Disney Perhaps that train is a nod to Walt’s love for trains. Also, maybe this portrait of a mile house is the proprietor’s original mile house. ©Disney We can see nods to Jessie from Toy Story and Big Al of the Country Bear Jamboree. ©Disney Well, those were just a couple of the things we picked up from the concept art, and I’m sure there are a whole lot more clues hidden for us to find! There’s so much more to learn about this new lounge; we’ll keep you updated as more information comes through. Stay tuned to DFB! Click Here to Learn More About Magic Kingdom Changes! 2. It’s been a rough year for streaming services, who continue to cancel shows left and right. ©Apple We’re almost at the point where we don’t want to commit to a new show for fear it won’t last beyond a season or two. We’ve seen some relatively popular shows get the axe, too, like Netflix’s Dead Boy Detectives. Even Star Wars isn’t above getting kicked to the curb: The Acolyte on Disney+ won’t be moving past its first season. However, it’s not just TV shows that are getting canceled. Recently, a movie starring two VERY popular actors also got canceled. According to Variety, Apple TV had a deal with director Jon Watts for a sequel to his movie Wolfs, which starred George Clooney and Brad Pitt. Now, though, that sequel, Wolfs 2, has been canceled. Yep, in this day and age, even George Cloooney and Brad Pitt aren’t safe from the streaming hammer! ©Apple TV In the original Wolfs movie, Clooney plays a professional fixer hired to cover up a high-profile crime. But then a second fixer shows up, Brad Pitt, and the two “lone wolves” end up having to work together as their evening turns into complete chaos in a way that neither fixer expected. ©Apple TV Watts had hinted that the sequel was being canceled earlier this week, but it was later confirmed that the project was scrapped. Wolf’s current project, the Star Wars series Skeleton Crew, will premiere on Disney+ in December. ©Disney Stay tuned to DFB for more. 2 Netflix TV Series CANCELED After Short Run on Streaming Service Join the DFB Newsletter to get all the breaking news right in your inbox! 4. Big changes are coming to Disney World! Hollywood Studios From a new Tropical Americas Land in Animal Kingdom to Villains Land and Cars attractions in Magic Kingdom, there’s going to be so much to see in the coming years. But one of the biggest surprises that Disney dropped on us was the new Monsters, Inc. Land coming to Hollywood Studios…and now we know where it will be located! When the Monsters, Inc. Land was first announced at D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event in 2024, there was a lot of speculation about where it would be located. Popular ideas included everything from Muppets Courtyard to Animation Courtyard to the possibility of replacing Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster. But now, the debate is finally settled. ©Disney Disney has officially announced that Monsters, Inc.Land will be located in the Grand Avenue south side of Disney’s Hollywood Studios. This is also known as the Muppets Courtyard. ©Disney With this change, we’ll have to say goodbye to Muppet*Vision 3D, PizzeRizzo, Mama Melrose, and the bathrooms in this area. We’re expecting Monsters, Inc. replacements for each of those locations, though! Just look at the concept art — the Muppet*Vision 3D attractions appears to be some kind of new show. We see what looks to be a new Harryhausen’s restaurant, and the building where the restrooms are located is still intact. ©Disney Speaking of Muppet*Vision 3D’ impending closure, it seems like Disney has something up its sleeve to honor the show. Disney said, “As we move forward with these changes, we are having creative conversations and exploring ways to preserve the film and other parts of the experience for fans to enjoy in the future.” Could this mean the show will wind up on Disney+? Maybe parts of the show will be used in the newly-rethemed Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster, starring the Muppers? We’ll have to wait and see! ©Disney Soon. Disney’s Hollywood Studios will have THREE roller coasters! Here’s a closer look at the new suspended roller coaster coming to the back section of Monsters, Inc. Land. Monsters, Inc. Coaster Model In this model created by Walt Disney Imagineering, the indoor coaster looks to wind all around a large warehouse-style building. We know there will be suspended doors whizzing past riders, but it’s unclear if those doors will be presented on a screen or in physical, 3D form. New roller coaster We still don’t know how long this new ride will last, but here are some examples of other ride times in Disney World: Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster — 1 minute 22 seconds Slinky Dog Dash — 2 minutes Seven Dwarfs Mine Train — 2 minutes 50 seconds Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind — 3 minutes We expect this new coaster to fall somewhere within this range of times. ©Disney Disney also confirmed that the new land will include new dining and shopping, as well as a whole new theater show. We can’t wait to learn more! Concept art and model for the Monsters Inc. 5. With the constant flow of Disney World news, updates, and changes, we’re always doing our best to fill you in on all those important dates. Magic Kingdom One upcoming date has several Disney fans avoiding Magic Kingdom because of a certain event taking place. What might it be, you ask? Well, here’s all you need to know! If you’re a fan of Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, then we have sad news for you. The wildest ride in the wilderness over at Frontierland will be closing for an extensive refurbishment. Though no concrete reopening date has been confirmed, Disney did state that it will reopen with “a little bit of new magic” sometime in 2026. Big Thunder Mountain Railroad When is the official date for this lengthy closure? January 6th, 2025. This means that January 5th is a day to avoid Magic Kingdom unless you want to hang around busy crowds and wait an insane amount of time to ride Big Thunder Mountain Railroad for the last time. Big Thunder Mountain Railroad Despite wanting to shout one final ‘yeehaw’ while zooming through the rocky terrain, the final date of Big Thunder Mountain Railroad’s operation is one Disney adults are certainly avoiding. Instead, we suggest hopping aboard the speedy train far before that date if you’re able to so you can avoid what will be one of the busiest days for Magic Kingdom. ©Disney Back at D23, Disney announced that a land inspired by Disney Villains would officially be coming to Magic Kingdom. This new land will be built behind Big Thunder Mountain, with construction already underway. Although it is not confirmed that the coaster’s closure has anything to do with the upcoming Villian’s land, we think it just might just be given the timeline and the length. Big Thunder Mountain Railroad Although we are sad at how long Big Thunder Mountain will be closed, we are excited for the future of this attraction and can’t wait to see all the fun new changes that might come with it! Stay tuned as we keep you up to date with all the latest in Disney news. 4 Permanent Closures Disney World Could Announce in 2025 Join the DFB Newsletter to get all the breaking news right in your inbox! 6. Well, it’s officially happening, and let’s just say the news about the new Monsters, Inc. land coming to Disney’s Hollywood Studios is bittersweet. Mike and Sulley Yes, we are totally excited about a land devoted to Mike, Sulley, and all their employees at Monsters, Inc., but we’re also sad that Muppets Courtyard, along with Muppet*Vision 3D is going away to make room for it (at least the Muppets are just moving over to Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster, so at least Disney gave us that). But we ARE getting some new attractions in the Monsters, Inc. land and that’s something to be excited about, right? So let’s take a look at these new attractions. Okay, so we’ll be diving into the few details Disney has given us so far, as well as taking a closer look at the latest concept art for the new land. So far, we think there are at least two attractions coming to the Monsters, Inc. land in Hollywood Studios. But first, let’s take a look at the NEW concept art for this land to give you an idea of what we’re referring to. ©Disney Okay, so here are the attractions we believe we’ll see in this new area of the park. The Door Ride The first attraction Disney announced for the new Monsters, Inc. land is a ride based on the door chase sequence in the original Monsters, Inc. movie. Yes, that scene that fans have been begging Disney to make a ride for is finally happening. Here’s some concept art showing off the new ride, which will be Disney’s first EVER suspended roller coaster. Yeah, that’s EXCITING. ©Disney We’ve already done a deep dive into this concept art, and Disney has promised a ride that “will put you right in the middle of the monster action. Just be sure to fill out your paperwork! Roz is always watching…” From the new concept art, we think that the new coaster will be at the far end of the land, in the largest building. ©Disney We’ve seen the model of this attraction, and it will certainly need to take up a lot of space. However, we’re guessing this area will also feature some shops and, who knows, maybe even a dining spot! Learn more about what we know so far about this coaster A Monsters, Inc. Show Disney also revealed that a new show would be coming to the land. The ONLY detail we have about the show is that it will be new, so it’s something we haven’t seen yet. So yep, that’s exciting, too, and it’s pretty likely going to go into this Monstro Theater location we see in the new concept art. (This looks like the location of the former Muppet*Vision 3D attraction) ©Disney You can see what seems to be a little queue area there in front of that building, too. What kind of show will this be? Well, that’s anyone’s guess. Disney Just Teased MONSTERS INC ICE CREAM And We Need To Discuss Monsters, Inc. Laugh Floor Perhaps the most surprising addition to the new concept art is a sign above one of the buildings for Monsters, Inc. Laugh Floor. This could be a red herring or just an ad for the current Monsters, Inc. Laugh Floor show in Magic Kingdom. ©Disney Or…now hear us out...what if Disney moves the Monsters, Inc. Laugh Floor show to the new land? It would certainly make sense because it’s not that great of a fit in Tomorrowland. But will Disney really relocate an entire show? Who knows? But it’s interesting the new concept art references it. When Is the New Monsters, Inc Land Opening in Disney World? Disney has also promised new shopping and dining (and we are SO keeping an eye on Harryhausen’s in the concept art because that better be a real restaurant). We’ll be looking out for more details about the new land, so stay tuned to DFB for more. What Will Disney’s NEW Monsters, Inc. Roller Coaster Be Like? 10. Extra, extra, read all about it! Seriously, we’re sure Disney World hasn’t had a wink of sleep because it has dropped so many new updates this week. If you’ve missed out, this is your chance to catch up! Cinderella Castle I’m back again with another round of WHAT’S NEW UPDATES AT DISNEY WORLD, a rundown on all the epic news and updates that happened at Disney World this past week. This week, we got the 4-1-1 on a NEW lounge coming to Magic Kingdom, a HUGE expansion for a Disney World Hotel, and the FULL LINE-UP of EPCOT Festival of the Arts Disney on Broadway Concert Series. PLUS, we got some BIG news about the Monsters, Inc. land coming to Disney’s Hollywood Studios. Let’s check it out! An Update About the Monsters, Inc. Land Coming to Disney’s Hollywood Studios Disney shared some HUGE news about the Monsters, Inc. land that will be located in Hollywood Studios. After months of Disney fans deliberating where it will be going, Disney officially confirmed its location. The new land will be taking over the Muppets Courtyard area. While the announcement didn’t include a closing date, we will soon be saying goodbye to Muppet*Vision 3D, Pizzerizzo, and more to make way for this new land. ©Disney Along with the announcement of the location, Disney also released that there will also be a brand-new theater show coming to the Monsters, Inc. Land. The show will be replacing Muppet*Vision 3D. We don’t know much more about the show though. While Muppets Courtyard is being rethemed, The Muppets won’t be completely disappearing from Hollywood Studios. They will just be moving somewhere else… Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster RETHEME Announced There are some big changes coming to Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster! Along with confirmation of the location of the Monsters, Inc. Land, Disney also announced that The Muppets will be taking over Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster. The Muppets will be the star of the show on Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster and will be teaming up with some of “music’s biggest stars for a rockin’ music festival.” ©Disney This will be the first Disney ride to feature The Muppets. The retheme will bring laughter, screams, and some new tunes to this iconic roller coaster. We will also be getting lots of Muppets merchandise on Sunset Boulevard. Disney hasn’t announced yet when this retheme will happen though. SNEAK PEEK at an Exclusive NEW Lounge Coming to Magic Kingdom There are some exciting changes coming to Magic Kingdom! Magic Kingdom It was announced a while back that Frontierland’s Shootin’ Arcade would close and become a new lounge for DVC members. Since then, we’ve been watching the construction on the former attraction closely, to see if we could get any hints as to what the new lounge will look like. Frontierland Shootin’ Aracade is behind walls now But now, Disney has shared a sneak peek at the space, which will be called McKim’s Mile House. It’s set to be open by the summer of 2025, so those planning trips for the latter part of next year may get to check it out. The concept art features lots of wood decor, several pieces of frontier-inspired art, and a large fireplace. ©Disney In case you’re wondering about the name, a Mile House was a term used during the Gold Rush to mark a building that was a mile from an important destination. Many mile houses were used for stagecoach stops or places to get refreshments. And the name of the building? Likely a homage to Disney Legend Sam McKim, who designed the Disneyland souvenir maps, issued between 1958 and 1964. Frontierland Shootin’ Arcade We can’t wait to learn more about this destination and get details about when it will open. We’ll make sure to keep you updated as more information comes through. Click Here to Learn More About Magic Kingdom Changes! A Disney World Hotel Just Shared HUGE Expansion News! The Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin could very well be one of our favorite off-property hotels, although technically, it IS on property — it’s in the EPCOT area of Disney World. Now, we’re always telling you why we recommend looking into a stay there, and now we’ve got some big news about the hotel to share: the resort is expanding! Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin The Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin just recently broke ground on this expansion, which will add an additional 120,000 square feet of event space to its current meeting and convention space. Joining the hotel for the groundbreaking ceremony were executives from Tishman Realty and MetLife, as well as Marriott International and Disney World. Oh, and a certain mouse was also on hand to help the Swan and Dolphin mark the occasion. ©Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin This will be the first major expansion to the resort’s meeting space since 2003. It will add a new two-story building to the hotel’s existing convention space and will use the resort’s original Michael Graves design as inspiration with lots of natural light, modern touches, water themes, and warm, wooden color schemes. Swan Resort lobby This will give the Swan and Dolphin a massive 469,000 square feet of meeting space total between its three hotels (the Swan, Dolphin, and Swan Reserve). It’s part of a $275 million project that will also go towards meeting space and room upgrades. The new space is expected to be finished in 2026. We can’t wait for what the future awaits for this fabulous hotel! 3 Reasons Why We Stay at the Swan and Dolphin Hotel Again and Again in Disney World BONUS: FULL LINEUP Announced for the 2025 EPCOT Festival of the Arts Disney on Broadway Concert Series We’ve got an important update for you about one of our favorite EPCOT festivals! ©Disney Visiting EPCOT’s seasonal festivals during your trip to Disney World could be the highlight of your vacation. When Disney announced the dates of the upcoming Festival of the Arts for 2025, we didn’t get too many details about its entertainment offerings beyond that. However, it seems Disney is finally ready to share more exciting news about one of its popular festival offerings. It gets hot in Disney World One of the best offerings at EPCOT while attending the Festival of the Arts is getting to see some of the brightest stars from Broadway perform right before your eyes. The festival’s Disney on Broadway series brings these performers front and center, singing their iconic songs from popular Disney musicals like Frozen, The Little Mermaid, Aladdin, and more. ©Disney Disney just announced the coming year’s lineup of amazing live performers who have graced the Broadway stage in these productions, including some who originated their roles. Let’s take a look at who you can expect to attend (and when) this coming year: ©Disney But that’s not all! 11. In case you haven’t heard (though, at this point, it seems like EVERYONE is talking about the news), Disney confirmed that the Muppet Courtyard in Disney’s Hollywood Studios is closing to make way for Monsters, Inc. Land. Animal goofing off in Muppet*Vision 3D Muppet*Vision 3D will permanently close when this part of the park closes. Or…will it? Well, thanks to some mysterious clues from both Disney AND The Jim Henson Company, we have a lot of new questions about the fate of this iconic show. When Disney announced its new plans for the Grand Avenue section of Hollywood Studios, it confirmed a few important things: The Muppets will be taking over Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster “teaming up with some of music’s biggest stars for a rockin’ music festival” The world of Monsters, Inc. will be built on the south side of Disney’s Hollywood Studios (in place of the Muppets Courtyard) A whole new theater show is coming to the new Monsters, Inc. Land Disney also tucked a potential clue about Muppet*Vision 3D in its recent announcement, and it has a lot of fans theorizing about what it could mean. The statement reads, “As we move forward with these changes, we are having creative conversations and exploring ways to preserve the film and other parts of the experience for fans to enjoy in the future.” Does this mean the show will take on a new 2D format on Disney+? Who knows! Actually, we know who knows. ©The Jim Henson Company On November 23rd, The Jim Henson Company took to social media to share a statement about the recent news. The statement reads: Jim Henson’s final project was Muppet*Vision 3D, now regarded as a true theme park classic. Innovation was always Jim Henson’s north star, and his trailblazing career led him to a unique challenge: a truly immersive Muppet experience where audiences are part of the happy chaos of the iconic Muppet Show. Originally debuting in 1991, Muppet*Vision 3D combined 3D technology with real-world practical effects, alongside animatronic and live Muppet characters. The result was a one-of-a-kind Jim Henson experience, and an unforgettable capstone to Jim’s magnificent career. As we learn of the show’s upcoming closure in its current form at Disney’s Hollywood Studios , we look forward to Muppet*Vision 3D’s next act. MuppetVision 3D Theater One part of this statement caught our eye. Did anyone notice it? The Company said, “We look forward to Muppet*Vision 3D’s next act.” What could THAT mean?! We have so many questions. For now, we have a lot of questions but not much in the way of answers. In the meantime, we’re always on the lookout for the latest Disney news, so stay tuned for more. 3 Game-Changing Updates Announced for Disney’s Hollywood Studios in 2025 Join the DFB Newsletter to get all the breaking news right in your inbox! 13. EPCOT is filled with tons of iconic, classic attractions, but one of them is well-known because the ride is truly like no other (well, besides the one in Disneyland, but we’re talking non-Disney theme parks, specifically). Spaceship Earth Despite being around since 2005, Soarin’ remains quite popular with guests, but there have been a few updates the ride has sorely needed for a while. Well, Disney listened! We’re happy to report that one of those updates is complete, along with an additional one we weren’t expecting! If you’ve ridden Soarin’ any time in the past nearly 20 years (and did not sit in the middle row), you likely noticed that in the Paris scene, the Eiffel Tower curves HEAVILY to the side. If you sit in the middle, you might not notice the lean, but since the screen isn’t totally straight and flat like a normal movie screen, the Eiffel Tower looked more like the Leaning Tower of Pisa for a long time. Soarin’ Around the World However, that’s been fixed! We rode Soarin’ recently and were seated in Section C, Row 1, furthest to one side, and noticed that the Eiffel Tower didn’t lean anymore! No more lean! Also, the final scene surprised us with something new — the footage has been updated to show EPCOT in its current, transformed state. This means that you see the new (although it’s not very new anymore) entryway with the fountain instead of the old nostalgic one. You may also notice the sidewalk is lit up, but currently, that effect seems to be broken. We’re hoping that since the light-up sidewalk is officially part of the ride, Disney will (eventually) fix this. Updated ending scene! Some guests may miss the old ending, as it means we’ll no longer get to see the EPCOT many of us experienced in our childhoods or young adult years, but others who never got to experience the old entrance may find this refreshing. 14. Disney’s Lightning Lane Premier Pass is still brand new, but we’ve already got a LOT to say about this luxury skip-the-line service. Lightning Lane When Disney first debuted the Lightning Lane Premier Pass in October, we saw a lot of mixed reactions. Some people were looking forward to this upgraded way to skip the lines at the theme parks, while others balked at the price. No matter where you stand on the debate, it’s clear there is a market for this kind of pass. Just one month after debuting, the Lightning Lane Premier Pass is SOLD OUT on FIVE days this November. According to the Walt Disney World app, Lightning Lane Premier Passes are SOLD OUT on the following days: Magic Kingdom: November 23rd, 25th, 26th, 27th, 28th Disney’s Hollywood Studios: November 25th, 28th Lightning Lane Premier Pass prices vary based on date and park, but the prices for these sold-out passes range from $309 to $449 per person, with Magic Kingdom reaching $449 and Disney’s Hollywood Studios reaching $349 per person on November 28th (Thanksgiving Day). ©Disney Lightning Lane Premier Pass was originally placed on a pilot program limited to those staying at Disney Deluxe Resort hotels, Disney Deluxe Villa Resorts, and other select hotels. By mid-November, though, Disney updated the rules to allow ANY Disney World hotel guest to purchase the Premier Pass. Seven Dwarfs Mine Train These passes give you one-time entry to each Lightning Lane experience in a theme park. You can NOT use the pass in multiple parks on the same day, and you can only purchase one Premier Pass per day. Disney allows you to purchase the Lightning Lane Premier Passes up to seven days before the first day of your hotel stay, for your entire length of stay (up to 14 days) starting at 7AM Eastern Time. Slinky Dog Dash Remember how we warned you that Thanksgiving is a busy time to visit Disney World? Well, if these sold-out passes are any indication, this year is going to be crowded, too. 15. December is creeping up on us, and that brings new challenges when it comes to navigating Disney World. Mickey in the Christmas parade at Magic Kingdom It’s one of the most beautiful times of the year, that’s for sure, but it’s also one of the most crowded. There’s so much to explore, but SO many people there to check it all out. If you’re heading to Disney World this upcoming month, here are the mistakes you 100% won’t want to make! Not Planning For Those Larger Crowds As we mentioned earlier, Disney World gets BUSY during the month of December with the amount of holiday offerings to experience, not to mention that it’s much cooler than it is during the summer and many families choose to take their vacations in the winter rather than the summer for that reason. Animal Kingdom Christmas tree With that being said, that means that wait times will likely SHOOT up in almost every single park for rides, dining wait times, check out lines in the stores, and everything in between. If you usually have a list of 5 must-dos, maybe knock it down to 3 in preparation for how busy the parks will be. That way you don’t get frustrated when you can’t get to everything you planned! Wait Too Long For A Parade/Show Spot Remember those crowds we talked about? Yeah, that extends to the fireworks, castle shows, parades, and other live entertainment around the parks for the month. While we usually say you can get a spot about 15-30 minutes before with little issue, for this time of year, getting a spot 30 minutes advance is MINIMUM. Olaf in the Christmas Parade! People will claim their fireworks/parade spot over an hour ahead of the event, so if you want to be sure you can get a great spot, you likely will want to do the same. If you’re looking for a mediocre spot, you can walk up 15 minutes before, but just waltzing up and getting an okay spot for the show goes out the window for the majority of this month. Forget To Try The Special Treats Disney World introduces a TON of new holiday-inspired treats in all their parks and many of their hotels, and missing out on these is NOT something you want to do. These are limited time treats that you can likely only get this ONE time of year, and there could be something on there you’d really love, but if you don’t look at the menus, you’ll miss them entirely! The EPCOT tree has arrived! And that’s not even counting the fact that EPCOT’s International Festival of the Holidays begins in EPCOT on November 29th with a whole slew of treats and offerings across their many food booths, so truly, there’s a lot to explore this December in terms of food! Not Realizing Magic Kingdom Closes Early Some Nights With the holiday season comes Disney World’s infamous holiday party, Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party, and while we love the offering when we get to go ourselves, it means that the park closes WAY early on those select nights and doesn’t bode as well for regular guests in the park. Welcome to Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party! This is especially true if these adjusted park hours catch you off guard — there’s nothing worse than arriving to Magic Kingdom for your full park day and realizing that you’ll be asked to leave at 6PM when the park closes to regularly ticketed guests. Not only that, but these parties are sold out by the time they arrive 99% of the time, so families can’t even choose to purchase a ticket to spend more time in the park. That’s why it’s ALWAYS important to look at those park hours ahead of time! Forgetting to Check for EXTENDED Park Hours However, Disney is also known for extended park hours on holiday evenings and those surrounding it only a few weeks before they happen, so if you checked the park hours when you booked your tickets two months ago, you may not realize certain parks are open LATER than they originally were if you don’t check! Gertie the Dinosaur at Disney’s Hollywood Studios There’s a lot to experience this holiday season, it can feel a little overwhelming, but that’s why we’re here! 16. Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort is a little bit of a construction zone right now. Why? The hotel is getting a BIG addition. In just a few weeks, the Island Tower at Disney’s Polynesian Villas and Bungalows will open, and this new expansion is going to bring a LOT of families to the resort. Bungalows at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort Disney’s new hotel addition is set to bring new dining, a new pool, and tons of new rooms to the Polynesian Village Resort. Sounds pretty great, right? 17. If you’ve been paying attention to Disney World, there are a whole lot of changes coming to the parks, especially at Disney’s Hollywood Studios! Hollywood Studios Hollywood Studios will be getting a new Villains stage show and a whole Monsters, Inc. Land complete with a first-of-it’s kind roller coaster for Disney World. And we just found out that Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster is getting a retheme. But the thing that has been on our minds lately is The Little Mermaid, specifically the revision to the show that is coming to the park! Now, we’re excited about this new show, but more than that, we’re actually worried. Well, actually beyond worried. Let’s talk about why! As we were saying, we’re big fans of The Little Mermaid, and we had been waiting patiently for years for Disney to tell us they were bringing back the Voyage of the Little Mermaid show from the pandemic closures. Voyage of the Little Mermaid Little did we know what we were in for when Disney surprised us and said they’d actually be bringing us a brand new version of the show which they called “The Little Mermaid — A Musical Adventure.” The Little Mermaid: A Musical Adventure To say we were excited would be a massive understatement. But now, we’re feeling some serious concern about the project. Here’s why. Delayed Like a Mermaid Waiting for their Legs When Disney first announced The Little Mermaid – A Musical Adventure, it was slated to open in Fall 2024. That timeline wasn’t lightning-fast, but we were patient because good things take time, right? Well, fast forward a bit, and Disney announced a delay. Now, the show’s opening was pushed back to Summer 2025. The Little Mermaid: A Musical Adventure Why the holdup? Maybe Disney will be reworking the attraction’s entrance to better flow with the surrounding area and create a more seamless experience for guests. Plus, let’s not forget the other major project that will also be happening in the park: the brand-new Monsters, Inc. land! ©Disney We love Mike, Sulley, and the gang, but we’re wondering if the attention on this much larger expansion could slow down progress on Ariel’s return. And honestly, we’re not sure we can handle another delay. The Big Void Here’s another thing to consider: Hollywood Studios has felt like it’s missing something without The Little Mermaid. This is what I mean — the park has so many action-packed rides (i.e. Rise of the Resistance, Slinky Dog Dash!, Tower of Terror, etc.), but it really benefits from shows that give guests a chance to sit, relax, and enjoy a bit of Disney magic. Slinky Dog Dash For years, Voyage of the Little Mermaid served that purpose. Sure, it was a little dated, but it was a fun and nostalgic nod to the original movie. The kiddos loved the glow-in-the-dark sea creatures, and us adults loved the A/C. All jokes aside, it was a great midday escape from the Florida heat and the crowds. Voyage of the Little Mermaid Without it, the park has felt like it’s been missing a key piece of its lineup. The delay of The Little Mermaid – A Musical Adventure just makes that void feel even bigger. We’re Ready to Be Part of That World At the end of the day, we’re still incredibly excited for The Little Mermaid – A Musical Adventure. Ariel’s story has always been a fan favorite, and we’re thrilled that Disney is giving this attraction a much-needed update. The Little Mermaid: A Musical Adventure That being said, with all the delays, changes, and competing projects, we can’t help but feel a little nervous. Will the show open on time? Will it live up to our expectations (admittedly they’re a bit high)? Only time will tell. 19. OK, Disney fans. We’ve got good news and bad news. Which do ya want first? Disney’s Hollywood Studios If you want the bad news, you can skip to the end. But before you do, we highly encourage you to hear us out first. Disney just dropped some major news about the future of Disney’s Hollywood Studios, and some big areas of the park are going to look different. Here’s what’s changing. OK, let’s rip off the band-aid. After a lot of speculation, our predictions came true. Back in the summer, Disney announced that a new Monsters, Inc. Land is coming to Disney’s Hollywood Studios. At the time, Disney shared two pieces of concept art. Many fans speculated that the first looked a lot like it was located in the Animation Courtyard section of the park, though at the time, Disney did not confirm the location of this addition. A new land themed to Pixar Animation Studios’ “Monsters, Inc.” is coming to Disney’s Hollywood Studios. Taking place after the events of the film, Monstropolis need humans’ laughter to power the city. Guests can even ride on a door like Mike and Sully in the iconic scene from the film with Disney’s first-ever suspended coaster. The second piece of concept art more closely resembled the Grand Avenue section of Disney’s Hollywood Studios, a.k.a. Muppets Courtyard. It was around this time that people started wondering (or worrying) if the Muppets Courtyard would permanently close. ©Disney Well, a few months later, Disney confirmed the news. The Monsters, Inc. Land will take the place of the Muppets Courtyard, closing the restaurants, shops, and attractions in this land. BREAKING: Muppets Courtyard Is CLOSING in Disney’s Hollywood Studios The new land will include a suspended coaster that recreates the door vault scene from Monsters, Inc. Disney also teased new dining, shopping, and a whole new theater show. Wait, did you catch that? There will actually be TWO attractions in Monsters, Inc. Land — we’re getting a new show, too! Monster’s, Inc. Will it be an interactive show like the Monsters, Inc. Laugh Floor in Magic Kingdom? A 3-D show like MuppetVision 3D? A stage show like the Beauty and the Beast show? We have so many questions! NEWS: Disney Just Confirmed a NEW Show Is Coming to Monsters, Inc. Land in Hollywood Studios Naturally, a lot of people were pretty upset about the fate of MuppetVision 3D. Perhaps to try and make up for the closure, Disney also announced that the Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster is getting rethemed. The Muppets are coming to Sunset Boulevard! ©Disney According to Disney, The Muppets will be taking over Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster, “teaming up with some of music’s biggest stars for a rockin’ music festival!” Does that mean The Muppets are rocking along with some current artists? Is this a hint about the new soundtrack? WE MUST KNOW! NEWS: Disney Confirms Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster RETHEME in Hollywood Studios This brings us to the bad news. Sure, it’s fun to think about the new suspended roller coaster, a new restaurant, and more Muppets merchandise around the park. But Disney’s Hollywood Studios is a relatively small park (compared to the others), and with two BIG areas of the park under construction, we’re expecting this park to feel a little more crowded and tight. ©Disney The wait times might increase, too, since Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster will be closed for a major retheme. TL;DR? Get ready for Construction Wall City. EPCOT Construction Walls Near Spaceship Earth Phew! That’s a lot of news to take in. Before we all panic, let’s wait and see what happens. In the meantime, we’re always on the lookout for the latest Disney news, so stay tuned for more. 20. Hey there! Wanna hear a Disney World hotel secret? Animal Kingdom Lodge Alright, gather ’round, because I’m about to spill the…chutney? I’m sure you’ve heard the hype about Sanaa over at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge, and let’s be real — it’s 100% deserved. Now, the star of the show isn’t one of the main entrees or the desserts (even though they’re all delish). No, the true MVP is the Indian-style bread service (iykyk). I bring all that up to say that the secret I’m about to drop on you is the kind of secret that might have you never going to Sanaa again! Are you ready? Once you hear it, you can’t un-hear it. Let’s go! As I was saying, the bread service at Sanaa is top-tier. It comes with five types of naan and NINE accompaniments ranging from a mild cucumber raita to a fiery chili sambal that’ll make your taste buds do a happy dance. Indian-style Bread Service But if you’ve always thought you needed a dining reservation to get your fix, think again. You don’t actually have to eat in Sanaa’s main dining room to enjoy this glorious carb fest. You can just stroll into the Sanaa Lounge (no reservation needed) and order the bread service there. Welcome to Sanaa Lounge! Let that sink in. Why This Changes EVERYTHING So, picture this: You’ve planned a whirlwind Disney trip, and you forgot to make reservations, or maybe you just don’t feel like committing to a full sit-down meal after a long day at the parks, but then you remember this hack. All you’ve got to do is swing by the laid-back Sanaa Lounge, grab a seat, and BOOM. You’re diving into naan heaven without the stress of snagging a coveted table in the restaurant. Sanaa Lounge The vibe in the lounge is super chill compared to the dining room. It’s the perfect spot to unwind, sip on a cocktail, and savor the bread service at your own pace. Sanaa Lounge Plus, the lounge menu has other small bites if you’re feeling peckish, so it’s a win-win. The Secret Might Not Stay Secret for Long… Now, here’s the thing: not everyone knows this little trick. For years, Sanaa’s bread service has been a low-key Disney must-do, which means most people automatically think “reservation required.” But the fact that you can get the exact same experience in the lounge is such a game changer. Sanaa Lounge The only downside (if you can call it that) is that the more people catch on, the lounge might start getting just as busy as the main dining area. So, do with this information what you will. Sanaa Bread Service at Sanaa Lounge So, what do you think? Will you be heading to the Sanaa Lounge to try this out? Let us know in the comments below. 25. We’re back at it again and bringing you another Disney World drink review! Hollywood Studios With so many options within Disney World’s parks to choose to stop by for a drink, how do you ever narrow down all of your choices? Sure, we have our favorites that we’ve tested time and time again but for this review, we’re calling your attention to a quieter spot that seems to be a real crowd-pleaser. The Sunshine Day Bar in Disney’s Hollywood Studios serves up an assortment of cocktails as part of Sunset Ranch Market you’ll find spread out over several restaurants down Sunset Blvd. Making a quick stop for a drink or two! This walk-up bar operates seasonally so it’s not always open which is probably why you won’t find hard posted hours outside of its order widow, but it seems to know just how to draw the crowds. It’s also a popular stop if you’re looking for a limited-release seasonal beverage. Atmosphere This is a fairly straight forward walk up bar with a selection of specialty drinks. You’ll find it right off of the walkway as you make your way down Sunset Blvd. between Beverly Sunset shop and Anaheim Produce stand. Sunshine Day Bar While there’s not much to this restaurant, it doesn’t seen to keep the crowds from stopping by. Very rarely do we pass by this place without seeing a line down the walkway standing around ready to order. There’s always a line here It’s also hard to miss because it’s got a ginormous sign overhead! Menu Admittedly, the menu here is a bit limited on the forefront serving a few select specialties of this restaurant like the Cherry Blossom, Southside Fizz, and Blackberry Moonshine Lemonade along with a few draft beers and a frozen daiquiri. Menu board However, if you asked nicely at the window for a drink you’re really craving, the Cast Member may be able to whip up a drink from the full bar in the back. Drinks After we had a moment to look over our options, we choose a few we felt would represent the best of what Sunshine Day Bar had to offer! So, we settled on the Cherry Blossom and Southside Fizz. Our haul! Let’s start things off by talking about the Cherry Blossom. This drink is made of Bacardi Superior Rum, Luxardo Maraschino Liqueur, pineapple juice, and grenadine and will cost you $15.50. Cherry Blossom It’s a very pretty to look at when it’s handed over to you but you’re probably most interested in how it tastes. Well, this one was our favorite of the two, simply because there was a lot going on within it. The fruit juices blended really smoothly against the rum and the grenadine added a nice touch to add just enough sourness to the drink. Next up we tried the Southside Fizz (which we though was a fun name for this one). This drink is made of Hendrick’s Gin, pure cane sugar, and lemon juice topped with soda water which will cost you $16.50. Southside Fizz We’re not sure why the extra dollar on this one but it’s a jazzed up version of a gin and tonic drink. It goes down the hatch fairly easily though and you won’t taste a whole lot of it against the soda water and gin, but the lemon does give it a nice twist. While fairly basic to put together, that’s kind of its appeal. It’s a classic for a reason because you get all the bubbly without going overboard on unnecessary flavors. However, we could see the argument being made that this drink compared to the Cherry Blossom was a bit boring. Overall Overall we thought this was a solid stop if you find yourself looking for a drink to sip on around Sunset Blvd. However, it’s a bit elusive as its operating hours aren’t posted outside. Solid options While the menu isn’t extensive by any means, it works for when you’re looking for a solid choice of drink to take into a nearby show or sit and enjoy with your quick service meal you just picked up as alternative to a soda or just water. Nosh or Not? Stop on by the Sunshine Day Bar if… You’re looking to grab a drink and not leave the area. If you’re looking for a solid drink choice without having to go across the park to grab from another bar, this is a decent option for you. You’re grabbing a drink that’s got a good walkability score. If you’re looking to sip on something as you walk around, the portion size is the biggest draw to stopping for a drink here. Breeze on over to another drink stop if… They’re not terribly impressive drinks. While they taste good, they’re not super fancy. If you’re looking for a more complicated drink you might prefer to visit another nearby bar. They’re expensive to be so basic.
