PLEASE Don’t Make This Disastrous Disney World Restaurant Mistake

We say it all the time, and we won’t stop because it’s SO true — choosing where to eat in Disney World is BEYOND hard.

Cinderella’s Royal Table

First, you’ve gotta figure out what your budget for the trip is, and how much of it is allocated to dining, and THEN you need to decide what table service restaurants to book (up to 60 days before your trip begins) and what meals you’ll stop at quick service restaurants for. On the Disney World website and My Disney Experience App, you’ll find that each restaurant has a number of dollar signs that can help you get a quick picture of how much it costs. However, it’s easy to make a mistake at a select few of these restaurants, and we’re BEGGING you not to fall victim to it!

There are a select few Disney World restaurants that are EXTREMELY expensive. While the Disney World website and My Disney Experience app only go up to saying “Over $60 per adult” when it shows 4 dollar signs (looking like “$$$$”), there are other restaurants that aren’t just a little over $60 like Cinderella’s Royal Table or Be Our Guest Restaurant (which are still expensive, but are at $69-$84 per adult and $70 per adult, respectively). No, there are other restaurants on property that cost HUNDREDS of dollars per adult.

Takumi-Tei, located in EPCOT’s Japan Pavilion, is one of these. While upon first glance you’ll see that the restaurant has 4 dollar signs and says over $60 per adult, just like all other Disney World restaurants listed on the website and app, you need to click ON the menu to see what the actual price is. And if you don’t? Well, unfortunately, it seems many people have booked a reservation here and been VERY unpleasantly surprised by their bill.

Takumi-Tei

Instead of clicking on the menu and seeing that Takumi-Tei is $250 PER ADULT (and starts at $100 per child), guests have apparently been assuming the meal will be closer to $60 due to the Disney World app and website not having an option above the listing. In a recent email we were sent by the restaurant, they wrote at the bottom, “sorry about confusion over the price, Disney website will only go up to “over $60.'”

The Sushi Platter

YIKES. We can only imagine how many times this mistake has been made by guests in the park to warrant Takumi-Tei sending out an email partly regarding their pricing. That’s why it’s SO important to do all your research on the Disney World restaurants you’re looking at dining at and remembering that “OVER $60” could really mean ANY price above $60. By just taking one extra step and clicking on the menu to see what’s offered, you’ll also see the exact price per person.

Takumi-Tei

Additionally, we feel it’s important to mention that Takumi-Tei’s plant-based meal option USED to be cheaper than the traditional $250 per adult, however that has since changed. Now, the plant-based option is the exact same price as the non-plant-based menus. Takumi-Tei also verified with guests that they do not participate in the Disney Dining Plan, and as of September 1st, 2024, Annual Pass and DVC discounts will not longer be valid.

Takumi-Tei offers one of the best dining experiences anywhere on Disney World property, but it’s important to know that you are paying up for this meal — and you’ll need to budget correctly for it!
