The Noodle Exchange 2024

The EPCOT Food and Wine Festival runs through November 23rd this year! Throughout the festival, there are plenty of food booths, merchandise items, and concerts, too. Come along with us to the Noodle Exchange to find out if it’s a booth you need to add to your must-eat-here list!

Menu

Over at the Noodle Exchange, you’ll find three returning noodle dishes and two beverages.

Eats

We started with the returning Ramen with shaved beef, shiitake mushrooms, pickled carrots and daikon radish, shaved spicy peppers, and a soy egg in citrus-sesame broth for $6.

In 2023, this dish was the star of the show for us. It had the perfect amount of soy flavor, balancing the ingredients together well. The beef was cooked medium-well and had a nice chew to it. The noodles, although not cooked perfectly, were easy to eat and still delicious. Unfortunately, this year, the $6 dish was a letdown. The beef was chewy and unseasoned, and the broth was watery.

Next, we had the Thai Shrimp with Rice Noodles, Shiitake Mushrooms, and Basil in Coconut-Curry Broth. This dish is priced at $6.75.

When we had this last year, we thought this dish should probably come with a WARNING! Why? Well, the shrimp were not peeled or de-veined. Unfortunately, things didn’t improve this year. The noodles were undercooked, and once again the shrimp were served with their tails on.

And finally, the Ramen with tofu, shiitake mushrooms, pickled carrots and daikon radish, shaved spicy peppers, and Baby Bok Choy in Citrus-Sesame Broth is another returning dish for $5.75.

In 2023, this was not our favorite. The large chunks of tofu had a soft, almost mushy texture. They were crumbly and bitter in taste. The broth was very heavy on the salt. This year, the tofu was our choice for the best of the booth (mostly by default). The soy sauce gave the tofu much more flavor than the bland shrimp or beef dishes.

And now, we’re moving on to drinks!

Drinks

Returning for another year is the Parish Brewing Strawberry Mochi.  A 6oz pour is $5.75 and a 12oz pour is $9.75.

The Strawberry Mochi was actually quite good. We found it refreshing and not at all tart, which was definitely a plus. If wine is more your thing, you can grab the Pacific Rim Solstice Vineyard Old Vine Riesling for $8 instead.

So, was the Noodle Exchange worth the wait?!

Overall

Unfortunately, the Noodle Exchange is a bit of a letdown in 2024. Both the beef and shrimp dishes let us down, especially compared to last year. That said, the strawberry mochi was good, and the tofu dish is a solid choice if you’re looking for a vegetarian option.
